When you returned with Peter the game of Manhunt was still afoot. Whatever ruckus you had made in the woods must have been far enough away that no one thought it was a danger. Peter had since switched out of his costume, though the fact that you still had a machete was getting you plenty of looks.

“Are you sure it was a good idea to take that thing?” Peter asks quietly, and you shrug.

“Would you prefer we left it with the crazy guy?” You reply, getting a chuckle.

“I suppose not. Though the fact that your ‘friends’ haven’t called you back yet is worrying.” He says as you unzip your group tent.

He was right, they had said ‘keep your eyes peeled’ but you had no response in the last half hour hike you had taken back to the campgrounds. Did they mean that they would show up if you really needed backup or were they already on the way? You had no idea and you were actually starting to curse Robin’s knack for being like his mentor.

“Well, if he comes back at least we’ll be ready.” You point out, stretching out on your sleeping bag.

“You think so? We barely came out of that one with a ‘draw’.” Peter returns, taking a seat and folding his arms.

“Maybe, but we’ve got the upper hand...thanks to:”

“Without his damn machete we can at least approach him with impunity. He might be stronger and faster but between my reflexes and your ability to shrink we can do far better.” You say factually.

It was true and something you had noticed following the battle, his bladework had been the outlying threat that prevented either of you from getting any good blows in. The look Peter gives you tells you he doesn’t quite believe you.

“Alex, he was beating us handily even without the machete, sure we might be able to get a few hits in but so will he. We don’t have a definite advantage.” He reminds you.

That was….a good point.

“Well he didn’t see you out of costume and he only saw me from behind; If I don’t wear these clothes again we’ll blend in.” You counter.

It seems to settle Peter’s nerves, however before either of you can return to the game of Manhunt there is a commotion coming from the entrance to the camp. It doesn’t sound frightened at least, however both you and Peter are tense.

“So which of us is going to go check it out?” He asks.

Getting to your feet you look at him.

“Just be ready.” You tell him.

Peeking out of the entrance of your tent you see a small crowd has formed near the parking lot of the park and at least confirms that whoever it was wasn’t a threat...yet. Stepping out and getting closer the crowd starts to part and you get a brief glimpse of what you know to be orange skin and you feel your stomach sink. There was no way they had just ‘shown up’ had they? You knew that Starfire at least had a far more public identity but the rest of the team certainly didn’t.

By the time you’re close enough to get a good enough look you can confirm it is in fact Koriand'r, though the company she kept was certainly NOT the Titans...at least not at first glance.

Beyond the Tamaranian you knew only one other member of her entourage you knew at first glance was one Richard Grayson. You knew Bruce Wayne’s wayward protege had been seen around Jump before and rumors were abound about him and Starfire but you hadn’t expected to see him here. But that didn’t answer for the other three people that were with them, however when Richard looks you square in the eye he seems to turn his entire body to face you and you suddenly feel very small.

Why was he looking at you? Why was he coming closer?

Like a deer in headlights you are stuck trying to make sense of what is going on, however thankfully you manage to compose yourself. While some of the crowd is still watching and giving you strange glances the Wayne heir gives you a slight grin. Extending a hand to you you slowly extend your own for a handshake.

You’re caught off guard as he pulls you closer, throwing his other arm around you in the stereotypical ‘bro hug’. You have no idea what the hell he’s doing when he finally speaks up to you.

“I did tell you to keep your eyes peeled.”

It all clicks for you, however even as he stands back with that infuriating grin you try wrapping your head around it.

“You’re kidding me.” you say, looking from him to Kori to the rest of the trio.

It all made sense now.

Shaking your head you look from Richard to Kori.

“I know she’s a lot more public about these things but doesn’t this seem a bit I don’t know, suspicious?” You ask quietly, turning to make your way back towards your tent and of course Peter.

“Well you know Kori, she’s very free spirited and doesn’t really have anything to hide.” He points out and you shrug.

“I guess, but I don’t think you’re here just for a good camping weekend.” You tell him with a smile.

He shrugs “I had a few ideas I was looking into to make things interesting but for the most part yes, we’re here as backup.” He tells you.

“Then I suppose I should introduce you to who I’ve been working with.” You say, getting a nod from Dick Grayson and a quiet ‘booyah’ from the tall and dark skinned teen that must have been Cyborg. As you continue to walk along the shorter teen runs up to you, practically leaping as he speaks up in obvious excitement.

“So how’d it go, I mean you said that you said you had backup but who was it? Anyone we know?!” He asks, his voice clearly that of Beast Boy.

“Well you’ll meet him in a second, as for if you know him i’m not sure.” you say, ruffling the teen’s hair in amusement.

It was much easier to talk to the team of heroes like this, though you chalk that up more to that they were in ‘your’ world instead of the one you were still entering. Listening to the boy mutter and fix up his hair you rap gently on the fabric of the tent door.

“That you Alex?” You here Peter call, though it seems you aren’t the only one that knows that voice.

“That you in there Parker?” Dick calls and for a moment it is uncomfortably silent.

Peter is quiet as he steps out of the tent, standing to his full height and looking at the smaller Richard.

“Mr. Grayson.” He says in a voice you had not heard from the usually gregarious boy.

“Mr. Parker.” Dick replies, suddenly going from the laid back and relaxed individual to a stern and almost uncomfortably straightforward.

This breaks almost immediately as the two of them laugh and embrace.

“I haven’t seen you since that one time in Monaco!” Peter says with a chuckle.

“Yes well, as you can probably guess I’ve sort of had personal ties to Jump.” He says, gesturing to the rest of the group.

It takes a moment for your best friend to register it but when he does he looks from Richard to you and then back to Richard.

“You mean?” He asks, getting a nod in confirmation.

At this Peter just gives you a shit eating grin.

“Have I ever told you I love your friends?” He asks.

This gets a beaming smile out of Starfire, a grin out of Cyborg, an enthusiastic nod out of Beast Boy and a groan from Raven.

‘Well, you can’t please everyone’ you think to yourself.

Giving a chuckle to Peter you look to the rest of your now guests and are suddenly unsure how to follow. Your tent was in no way big enough for the group of now seven people to cram into it, which would be a problem given that you needed to get looked at due to the poison that still still flowed through your veins. While thankfully you weren’t still in a fight the boiling feeling was still passing along your body, and given that your body was seemingly not able to parse out; At least not quickly.

“So Pete do you want to go help them with getting their tents and all that? I still need to..you know...get whatever the psycho put in me.” You ask, giving him a pleading look.

He gives you a nod before looking to the surrounding group.

“So, two tents or three?” He asks with a smile, getting a whoop out of Beast Boy who runs off towards the equipment building followed by a far slower Cyborg and Peter, Starfire not far behind.

“I guess you two’ll want the tent to work, I’ll go keep watch for Kraven.” He tells the two of you before walking off towards a group of people, though his eyes seem squarely set on the girl.

Joy.

Looking to the shorter Raven you raise an eyebrow and give her a slight grin.

“Rachel huh?” You ask, getting a slight punch in the arm in response.

“You’re lucky I can’t use my powers out here.” She grumbles before stepping into the tent with you not far behind.

Zipping the door up behind you barely turn around when the empath orders you to sit down. Obliging her you sit cross legged across from the girl who waves a hand across the space between you, a black shimmer appearing before you. You have no idea what it seems to accomplish, but a few seconds later the simmering wave vanishes and she gives you a stern look.

“Your shirt. I need you to take it off.”

“Uh...why?” you ask, already starting to oblige the dark girl for fear of being blasted out of the tent.

When your shirt finally comes off she presses a finger to your collar and after muttering something under her breath you look down and see what looks like a purplish black fluid glowing beneath your skin.

“The poison isn’t some something ‘normal’ like an cyanide or something. It would linger and linger and linger until it killed you or whatever power you’ve been given forced it out.” She tells you, and with a few more taps and gestures you watch a tendril of her energy leave her finger and press itself to your chest.

“So...what are we going to do about this?” You ask.

“Simple, drain it out of you using my magic as a lure.” She answers, looking at you as if it were the obvious solution.

“Ah...well I’m in your hands, Rachel.” You reply, closing your eyes

You hiss as the tentril presses into you, and while you know it isn’t actually puncturing you you can feel within you. Slowly the almost irritating warmth is tempered and looking down you see the darkish liquid start to move, drawn towards the blackish mass of energy. It is surprisingly soothing as it goes on and considering the afternoon you had it was a welcome sensation.

“So what was it doing to you anyway?” She asks after a minute or so.

“Just, anger, uncontrollable rage similar to what I felt when...we first met.” You tell her.

She’s quiet for a second before asking another question: “Are you okay?”

You aren’t sure how to answer that at first but when you finally put the thoughts to word you answer: “Nothing a good night's rest will fix.”

It’s evident she doesn’t like that your answer to seemingly all your injuries was ‘a good night's rest’ however before you can let her talk you get the all too familiar tingle in the back of your head. Without thinking you launch yourself forward, knocking the Empath onto her back, your hands either side of her head. It seems you were just in time as you hear the zipper on the tent start coming undone.

“Hey Pete, Alex you ba- OH! Oh uh...sorry I’ll just um...uh.” You hear Harry mumbling as he quickly zips the tent back up.

Looking down at Raven you give her a small smile however she doesn’t seem to agree that it was amusing and you feel her fist land squarely in your stomach.

“You could have just warned me.” She says with a slight sharp.

“I don’t think I had enough time, this is the quickest thing I could think of.” You wheeze out, sitting up and holding a hand out.

“Smooth, Web-Head.” She says with a roll of her eyes and mirthful grin. “We really need to work on your quick thinking.”

You give a nod, looking down at your bare chest and asking.

“Is it out of me?”

She nods.

You give her a grin.

“Should I keep the shirt off?” You ask.

You can swear there was the slightest hint of a blush but if it was true or a trick of the light you aren’t sure. The scoff and roll of her eyes however is very real and so you shrug, reaching into your bag before pulling out a faded ‘The Who’ T-Shirt and throwing it on. Looking to the girl you unzip the tent and exit, holding it open for Raven to follow.

Sure enough you see Peter and the group of undercover Titans carrying a trio of tents, a grill and a few bags of charcoal. You had to assume that cyborg insisted on that but you’d have to find out later. Slightly jogging up to the small group you give them a wave before Cy all but runs up to you, grabbing you by the shoulders.

“Why didn’t you tell me you knew Peter Parker?!” He all but demands, shaking you slightly.

“I-I didn’t think it was a big deal!” You reply, with Peter rushing up to you and putting a hand on the towering teens shoulder.

“Vic, Vic relax. I usually don’t talk a lot of science stuff with Alex since we were always friends before any of that stuff.” He assures, giving you the look of ‘do not tell him any of our old science stories’.

You give him a nod of thanks as he lets go of you, the rest of the group catching up with you. It seems that as Peter had with you so many years ago he had all but seamlessly made friends with this group of superhumans. Grabbing some of the equipment they had taken you join in the smalltalk, doing your best to avoid the whispers of gossip around you. It was clear people were surprised by your new friends, let alone that one of them was none other than Starfire herself.

“The people around us, they look at you strangely. Why is that, friend Alex?” The Tamaranean asks.

You sigh as while it may have been more understandable to other heros who had dual lives for protection, Koriand'r had it for fun as she didn’t have a reason to hide her identity. Add to that her naivete personality it was evident she would not understand the complex social structure that is high school.

“Because outside of my costume I’m nothing to these people, to them I’m just someone to push around and do their work for them. So when they see you, an ACTUAL hero they have a problem connecting how you and I can be friends.” You explain.

“But why? Surely you are attractive and intelligent. Is that not a desirable trait for a male of your species?” She asks, getting a slight blush out of you.

“Well that might be true these people have known me ever since I was a kid. Much of at my ‘attractiveness’ is due to whatever magic has been running through my body the last few months. So even if it were that simple they still see me as the lanky quiet kid I have always been.” You answer, uncomfortable at having to analyze yourself so closely.

The Tamaranean gives you a sad look before looking out across the crowd; No doubt trying to make sense of what was at least to her very strange. The others in your group seem to get it all too well however, with both Beast Boy and Cyborg giving you understanding looks.

“I’m uh...Garfield by the way.” Beast Boy says, picking his head up to look at you.

“And I’m Victor.” Cy says, extending his hand for a fist bump.

You smile at the duo, meeting the cybernetic man’s fist with your own.

“So, were you the one who insisted on the grill?” You ask him, getting a wide smile out of the man.

“You know it! Figured I should whip up a few burgers for dinner.” He explains, getting a whine out of his shorter companion.

“Dude! That’s awful!” Garfield protests, mock gagging as he reaches for his bag.

“No no Grass stain! Don’t you dare try and tell me the Tofu is better just because you don’t wanna eat meat.” Cyborg responds, quickly pressing the shorter teens head down with a free hand.

Looking to the woods you see the groups of camp gowers begin to return, and among them you see Flash and his gang leading them. You knew one outcome that could happen as it stood. Knowing the brute of a jock he’d just flirt with starfire in a ill conceived idea that he might be able to convince the girl to sleep with him, probably using you being the ‘nobody’ of your highschool in an attempt to woo her. While you were more ready to just let Flash get it out of his system there was a part of you that felt responsible for the girl. You knew all too well she could handle herself but in a way Flash was YOUR very first villain, the person who constantly harassed you for all of your life. And part of you felt that it would be your responsibility to stand up to him.

Even if the way you did it would be...a direct conflict.

Quickly pulling off your shoe and sock much to the confusion of all but Peter you quickly tie the sock to your arm and start running towards Flash and his group. Rushing across the field in a surprising show of speed you call out:

“Hey Eugene! You missed me!”

The call was a clear challenge to anyone who knew the two of you. And seeing the anger flash in his eyes and the shift in posture in his group you knew they had taken the bait. Watching the group fan out in an attempt to enclose you you cannot help but smile and laugh. You often didn’t have a chance to enjoy such a chase where you for once had the advantage.

And you were damn sure you were going to savor it.

The first thirty seconds are perhaps the most enjoyable part, weaving yourself through the various thugs they try and pin you in. They may have been football players and had the muscle and training to run you had the supernatural on your side. As thirty seconds turns into a minute, then two you decide that you had done enough; With the rest of your small social group having moved to the pair of tents you already had.

It was time to end this in a way that would at least leave you no worse for ware.

Spending a good ten seconds to maneuver yourself ahead of Flash, the star quarterback hot on your heels and certainly eager to get his hands on you. However as he closes on you you feel your trusty Spider Sense go off and you put a short burst of speed on, hearing Flash shout in surprise as he tumbles to the ground. Giving a soft chuckle to yourself you peel away, slowing down before finally arriving your small campground.

Panting to yourself you put your hands on your knees for show, wheezing as Peter hands you a bottle of water. Looking to him in thanks you quickly take deep chugs of the bottle.

“Thanks Pete.” You say, quickly plopping yourself down in the cool grass.

“Trust me, for that display I think you’ve earned it.” He replies.

Before you can return to drinking the bottle of water Koriand'r drifts beside you, a beaming smile upon her face.

“Friend Alex that was wonderful! I did not know the game of Tag required one to tie a sock to their arm.” She says, all but silently landing on her side beside you.

You chuckle.

“It was from the game of manhunt earlier.” You explain, taking the time to untie the sock from your shoulder.

“Is the hunting of men a sport here?” She asks, surprised.

“Yes and no.” You answer, taking a sip from your water bottle

“It’s a game, harmless really. Sort of a mix between Tag, Hide-And-Seek and Capture-The-Flag; If that makes sense.” You explain, getting a nod out of the girl.

“I remember when were kids you were good at the game, if only because you were smaller than everyone.” Pete chimes in, taking a seat across from you.

This seems to draw attention from Garfield and Rachel though you can only assume it is interest in the dark girls case, as she is nose deep in a book by the tree near your tents.

“Ohh, Story time? I can get into this.” The shorter teen says, and you give a glare to your Best Friend.

“Peter, don’t you dare.” You warn, just in time for Harry to call out from behind you.

“Oh this’ll be good, a chance to tease the world’s only professional wallflower? Count me in.”

You knew you were going to hate this and sure enough the two begin to regal the trio with tales of your boyhood, both embarrassing and impressive. It was certainly the sort of bonding experience you had hoped to have to be fair and you could see that the group certainly enjoyed the tales. Even as Victor continued to grill away his boisterous laughter was loud and warm.

It was certainly nice, even as Richard joined in with some stories of his own. Harry was certainly surprised to see his east coast ‘rival’ as it were but otherwise the eight of you settled into a comfortable pattern of stories and small talk. It was impressive to say the least, seeing as you were all there knowing there was danger close by.

“Alright boys and girls, burgers are ready! Get ‘em while they’re hot!” Vic announces, startling you out of your daze and you realize just how hungry you are.

You would need to explain to Harry at some point in the future, but as you downed your seventh burger you could care less. Being around the Titans you had forgotten that Harry was not used to your unnatural appetite. Raven and Cyborg both chalked it up to your metabolism being enhanced and given not only the poison that had been flushed recently from your system your body was starving for protein and Victor's cooking was irresistible.

Letting out a contented burp the Osborne Heir is pale faced and even Peter seems rather shocked at the sheer voracity you had displayed, their own burgers half eaten.

“You...did eat breakfast right Alex?” Harry asks, gulping slightly.

You blush.

“I-I was hungry!” You insist.

“So was I, but that was before you ate most of a cow just now.” He replies with a roll of his eyes as you laugh.

While Victor was more than happy with your enjoyment of his cooking Gar seemed green, an irony given the fact that at the moment his skin was not its usual color.

“So, how did you meet these folks, Alex? I know Richard is certainly out of your boathouse but what about the others?” Harry asks, with special emphasis on Raven; Which after how he had found you earlier was understandable.

...Shit.

Looking from Gar to Vic to Raven it was clear that none of you had really thought this far ahead. How had you not thought of that? Richard moves to speak, surely the one used to covering them but you quickly form a half-truth.

“We met a few weeks back. My Uncle insisted I get out of the house for a bit, convinced I had been spending far too long on my computer writing a paper. So I decided to go down to the pier for a bit, maybe hit the arcade and I ran into Gar and Vic and well; It sorta just went from there.” You explain, getting a chuckle out of Harry.

“You should have told me man! We still need to beat our high scores on the ‘Grey Ghost’ pinball machine.” He reminds you, drawing a smile from you and you see the slightest hint of a smile dust Raven’s face.

Strange.

Peter give you a chuckle before speaking up “So with Alex’s horror display over anyone still have room for dessert and a swim?” He asks, ducking into the tent for a moment before retrieving a box of Graham Crackers and bag of marshmallows. “I’ve got everything for s’mores and there’s a fire pit by the lake.” He adds.

You see Starfire’s eyes light up, clearly ecstatic at the news.

“Oh yes! Yes! I have never had the dessert made with the crackers of Graham!” She exclaims, swooping into the air in a backwards loop-de-loop.

“Well I guess that sort of answers it doesn’t it?” Richard says with a grin.

You watch as one by one the Titans and Harry all agree and can’t help but pale. You had packed a pair of swimsuits in case of such a thing but you were now painfully aware of just who had helped you by them. Felcia, while you certainly not on the best of terms she had ensured you had things that displayed that you were not the same stick you used to be.

Oh this couldn’t end well?

You knew you had no choice, even as you grabbed the blue and red swim trunks and your trusty ‘Grey Ghost’ towel you do the tried and tested maneuver of wrapping yourself in your towel and changing. Slipping out of your shirt you look down at your all but perfect physique and pause. Almost sixty days after your transformation you were still uncomfortable looking at a body that visually felt stolen. You could still imagine yourself as the lanky, non-muscular geek that you still were beneath the well sculpted frame you now had.

It was a very unnerving feeling but one you knew you had to eventually get used to.

Leaving your shirt on the floor of the tent you are thankful that it is at least dark out as you step out of your tent. You are surprised to see Rav-er, Rachel, still in the same baggy purple hoodie and jeans she had been wearing before but everyone else had a dramatic change. Perhaps the most sunning was none other than Starfire herself, a deep purple almost black two-piece bikini she had on.

Needless to say you were half tempted to web your jaw to the roof of your mouth to keep it from falling off.

Thankfully you manage to compose yourself in time for the fiery redhead to see you and quickly float over.

“Oh Marvelous!” She cheers, a finger tapping at your pectoral “I had to wonder what sort of strength you must have had beneath your clothes from what you showed at the…’beach’.” She says, snapping your neck to the side to hope Harry had not heard her failure at subtly.

“Uh yeah it’s...it’s been like that since the ‘incident’ awhile back.” You explain, giving her a slight glare she no doubt does not understand.

Stepping back from the alien girl you feel look on your back and do your best to ignore it. Instead you look to Peter who was chatting away with Richard. The moment the two of them see you however a grin spreads across both of their faces. Walking up to them you are about to inquire what they’re onto when you hear the words slip from Richard’s mouth.

“‘Raven’ Huh?” He asks with a grin.

You feel your blood run cold. Before you can get a word in the Boy Wonder holds a hand up.

“Relax, relax. Peter and I have been good friends for a long time, this is staying between the three of us.” He reassures.

“Yeah ‘bird boy’ it’s between the three of us.” Peter replys, getting an elbow to the rib from the shorter teen.

You roll your eyes before you feel something soft and plastic slap against the back of your head. Before you can inquire what it is you see Garfield race ahead, passing you and heading full long for the trees.

“Last one there’s a rotten egg, Dude!” He calls behind him as you grab the bag of now revealed marshmallows.

Unable to really make use of your top speed thanks to Harry’s presence you had to watch as Starfire darted off into the woods after Garfield, followed closely by Dick and Victor. You would not let this stand and so now on the moonlit path you put the speed on, pulling ahead of Peter who had been right on your heels. A minute later the gravel path turned to soft silicate sand of the lakeside.

Reflecting the pale light off the almost black surface of the lake it was certainly a scene to behold, the twinkling of stars like the glitter in Raven Darkholme eyes weeks before. Pushing that thought down you can’t help yourself, throwing your towel aside as you rush towards the lake. It had been some time since you had been able to go for a true swim and pushing yourself off the ground, your superhuman strength propelling you into the air.

I might be alone here, but the party didn't bother me. She did what she usually does at parties and we got separated as can happen.

Our response instead of trying to navigate a little bit was instead to bail not to any one room, but to the top of the roof immeadiately.

You plunge into the water with very little sound, your body cooled immediately by the surrounding water. It is a most soothing feeling as you sink deeper, the light above barely reaching the few feet down to where your momentum finally subsided. Twisting your body you look up to the sky and for a moment you lose yourself, the shimmering twisting light of the moon shimmering along the surface of the water.

It was certainly an impressive sight, made only more impressive by your realization that you did not feel the traditional burn of oxygen deprivation you’d normally feel at this point. It had been a good forty-five seconds and yet you did not feel rushed to breathe. Coming to surface a few minutes later you are in time to see Harry, Raven and Peter finally arriving. Watching them close the distance and join the rest of the Titans by the small pit Victor had found himself by. Already throwing branches and kindling into it in preparation. You are dragged from your observations however as you are dragged down from the surface.

Turning to face whatever had brought you down you find the playful eyes of Starfire looking back, a smile on her face.

Realizing it was not some horror of the deep or some villain you relax slightly, however looking down at the alien girl settles a different sort of feeling overtakes you.

Shock.

Normally you had seen the girls orange skin as truly jarring, it’s hue so alien in comparison to anything you had ever seen and with good reason. But here beneath the water where the light was dim it was eye opening to you the unearthly beauty she truly had. With the murk around her skin was a welcome contrast, the dull glow of her deep green eyes allowing light to dance through her crimson locks.

And that wasn’t even factoring in the fact that she had a body even MJ Watson would kill to have.

You were thankful the water was cold at this point as you broke away, making your way towards the surface with the Tamaranian not far behind. Breaking the surface with a gasp you swim towards the shore, wading through the shallows towards the others.

Hearing a pair of catcalls from Victor and Peter you flush, leaning down to splash a slight torrent of water at the two of them forcing them away. While they may not have seen the strange moment you just had they certainly reminded you of your still startling change in physique. Playfully flipping them off you make your way to towel off and join the growing group by the fire.

Throwing it over your shoulders you are scared almost out of your swimsuit when a low voice cuts through the crackling wood of the fire.

“Grey Ghost huh?” Raven asks, and as you turn to her you see one of her eyebrows is cocked and what appears to be a mirthful smirk on her face.

...Why did that strum a memory in your brain?

“Uh...yeah. I’ve always loved the old pulp noirs and comics.” You explain, pulling the towel tight across your skin as a breeze dances through the woods.

She chuckles.

“I can’t see you as a some cigar chomping detective, webhead.” She says quietly.

>How do you wish to respond.
>A. Be playful with it, Uncle Ben said you always did a good Dick Tracy impression.
>B. Shrug it off and just join the small gathering, you didn’t need this barb.
>C. “Well, I never saw you as a Rachel but I surprised me. Maybe I’ll surprise you.”

You flash her a small, sad smile.

You didn’t expect her to know but thanks to your youth other than Harry and Peter your best friends were the characters you looked up to in books and comics. How was she to understand that they had up until recently given you a path to what you could be.

“Well, before I had my powers I wasn’t anybody and I probably would never have been without them.” You reply.

You see the slightest shift of her lips curling into a frown and so you realize her slight teasing was not meant to dig up that sort of fact and so you quickly have to act.

“Don’t worry about it doll.” You start with the slight twang that was famous to the old school radio personalities.

“After all the enemy of my enemy is my enemy.” You continue, making use of Dick Tracy’s old quotes.
This seems to at least dispel whatever angst you had unintentionally brought as the girl’s lips twist into a slight grin.

“Come on, detective. If you don’t get over there I know for a fact Beast Boy will eat all of the smores.” She warns with a sense of mirth and you quickly follow after her.

Taking a seat on a worn log by the fire you take a moment to realize just how insane the situation was. Harry had no idea that other than Starfire he was sitting amongst the heros the two of you had watched since the start of your highschool years. Beyond that he didn’t even know that you were also Spider-Man.

And yet the two halves of your life were here right in front of you and it felt...right.

Pulled from your observation by Richard handing you a stick with a marshmallow on it. Putting it above the fire you cannot help smile, settling into the chatter of the group and enjoying the normalcy you had not expected for what was supposed to be a potential metahuman threat.

The following two hours were certainly something to behold. From games of Marco Polo to wrestling in the sand all backlit by the moon and stars above. It reminded you of the party, if only for the fact that it was the most normal thing your life had had in a long time. Sure you had to fight for your life only a few hours before but compared to your usual rut of going to school, fighting villains after school and sleeping it was...incredible.

And even as you and your band of teenageres made your way back to the campground you were hopeful that the following day might bring.

Returning to your tent you quickly scramble into your pajamas before figuring out the sleeping bag arrangement. With Peter being the tallest you decide to give him the middle of the tent, with you and Harry each taking a side around him. It was now that you found yourself drifting off to sleep, the built up exhaustion quickly dragging you to sleep.

Okay Everybody, we've got two options here:
>A. I try and finish this thread even though we've got two days left and what's about to happen could be a thread of its own.
>B. I end this thread off as is and we pick up tomorrow and or Monday with the following misadventure

What do you think?

So question: Have we seen any hide or hair of the Symbiote yet?

No Spiderman Quest is allowed to exist without it, and I’d like this to be the one where we fucking finally don’t fuck up and get to have it.
