Hello, /qst/, those of you that followed TT Quest know that it had an abrupt and frankly stupid ending (and probably responded with justifiable anger). I'm making this thread to discuss the future of the quest (if you even want it to continue after the stunt I pulled).

First, let me get a few things out of the way.

>1: I made that stupid, immature ending for a variety of reasons, such as stress of my senior year in college winding down, my current work to find employment once my college experience ends, frustration at low participation, general psychological issues, and a plethora of other reasons. Obviously, this does not excuse what I did, but a bit of an explanation is something you deserve to get.

>2: I am not Somnius

>3: I know my schedule was often inconsistent, and honestly, if this quest resumes, it will probably continue to be inconsistent for some time

>4: I am sorry, for what it's worth

So, this thread is for all former players, readers, and other interested parties to discuss the possible future of this quest, tell me if you want it to stay dead, or just call me an asshole for the stunt I pulled.
>>
>>2543061
Your an asshole.

But i love you so keep going bb, i'm excited
>>
I'll be poking my head in from time to time

>>2543072
Thanks
>>
>>2543061
>frustration at low participation
Well fuck, i feel bad for lagging behind in threads now.

What kind of ending did you do that pissed people off?

>I am not Somnius
... ah, rocks fell.
>>
Nah you should just quit life.
>>
>>2543099
More or less. I said a pit opened and swallowed everything up.

>>2543102
I've considered it, ultimately decided against it
>>
>>2543061
It was definitely a shitty thing to do, but it's cool.

All I wanted was an explanation, and I've got that, so feel free to continue if you're up for it. In the future just saying you're throwing in the towel is a better way to end things more amicably.
>>
>>2543105
Like, a pit under the titan tower and everyone was implied to have died?

fuck dude, ya can just make a new thread with everyone surviving but bloody underground in a crushed tower.
>>
>>2543107
I was not that descriptive

>>2543106
For sure
>>
>>2543061
What you did was shitty, but I'm willing to forgive you if you never do that again. If you gotta stop for awhile or quit, than do it in a way that doesn't shit on everybody. Just saying that you need time off or that you can't QM anymore would be alot better than a SOM styled 'rocks fall everybody dies' ending.
>>
>>2543112
I understand that.
>>
>>2543106

Seconding
>>
>>2543061
That was the one where we had gravity powers, right?
>>
>>2543130
Gravity powers? I don't believe so
>>
>>2543061
1. I feel you. I don't approve of how you handled it but I understand.

2. Called it.

3. Your schedule was never a problem for me. Even when you had to cancel or reschedule, the disappointment was near nil given your overall high rate of posting, and the quality discussions going on between sessions.

4. Speaking only for myself, I appreciate you coming back and taking responsibility, regardless of whether the game continues or not. I have enough good will to forgive.

I'd like to see the game continue, but only if you first take concrete steps for avoiding this situation in the future. Not only the bailing without a word, but changes so you don't get to the point where that becomes a possibility. It's nothing that needs to be hashed out in public, unless it makes sense to you to do so. If you need time, take that time. I've got Twitter alerts for when you're back.

Depression/Anxiety thing for MoG only: I'm chatty anon, the anon who writes the long screeds and constant write-ins in this quest. For the sake of allaying my own anxieties, I just want to check in with you directly, if I contributed to the reasons you initially decided to call it quits. I won't be upset at a 'yes' answer, it just means I need to change my behavior.
>>
>>2543130
No that was Thor's Teen Titans quest. This was Kid Crimson, who has emotion-based psychic powers.
>>
>>2543170
Rest easy, I always enjoyed having you in my threads
>>
Next thread when?
I wanna know how long i have to catch up.
I paused at the beach episode.
Shit, did we pick a girl yet? thats important
>>
>>2543182
Cool. Anxiety is a fucker, amirite? Also, not to be overly forward, but if you ever want to chat, I follow you on twitter as Leviathan.
>>
>>2543187
>quest isn't even back yet and there's already an anon discussing waifus
Nigga...
>>
>>2543187
You did not

>>2543194
Thanks anon
>>
>>2543195
Well, you all never did really decide who is best girl
>>
>>2543210
The last poll was pretty crushingly Raven. Also I think Cyborg won best friend by similar margins. There's an interesting wrinkle with every poll done though, which is that the initial results (done by the people who play the game, which is around 10 people) don't always conform to the final results (which includes the participation of people who can't play but read the threads, which is about 30 people).
>>
>>2543214
True, the polls have varied enough where nothing is certain, but Raven does seem to have a lead.
>>
>>2543218
Might be getting ahead of ourselves, but for decisions of that magnitude, should it be left solely to those who can participate, or should it be open to all the people who enjoy the game?
>>
>>2543214
I woulda raven to.
fuck though, Cyborg? really?
Must have gotten a lot friendlier since he got mad at us for only being 50% for killing blood.
>>
>>2543225
I'd have to put it in a voting period to make a decision like that. I mean, making a decision like that will come down to actions and choices made by the character in thread, unless I give an option at the end of the thread and have everybody vote on it between sessions.
>>
>>2543228
He cooled off. We haven't resolved that particular issue, but the understanding that our friendship isn't going to be imperiled by that, at least not yet.

We're good with Cyborg because they have a very natural, very chill chemistry.

>>2543234
That's fair. Even if you did the latter route, it'd likely take the form of '>A. Ask [her] out on a date' rather than '>A. Date Raven, >B. Date Donna, >C. Date Rose, >D. Date Silkie'.
>>
>>2543243
>At least not yet

Yeah, the moment of truth could be a very different story
>>
>>2543245
If you don’t end continueing the quest, will you then post your planned storyline?
>>
>>2543339
Sure
>>
Most of what I'd want to say had been said so I'll try not to repeat what's already been said.

Schedule didn't bother me but I wasn't usually able to catch them live but I'd still participate in polls and stuff. Usually I felt like I was comparing notes with >>2543170 between threads and that was fun.

As far as who gets picked and how it's handled I'm still in Rose's camp but the characterization of all the options was so good I wouldn't mind who we ended up with.

Anxiety/depression sucks. I'd rather we continue. Don't sweat a small player count as long as everyone there is having fun.

Not much. >>2543479 is me but my ID will change through the day as I'm usually jumping between work sites. How many other quests do you follow? I feel like I don't see your kind of analysis on any others I'm usually involved in.
>>
>>2543061
>low participation
I was checking an older thread. Didn't see a link to the new one until it died. That said, it's normal to have slow days and moments, specially when people have varying timezones.

Personally, I'd keep playing if it came back.
>>
>>2543243
Plus, even if a date occurs it's not a permanent deal.
>>
>>2543829
At work now. And the answer is zero. I only follow this quest. Its for a series I know and enjoy and I caught it early enough for me to get involved without a huge expenditure of time/effort.

I'm flattered, though also a bit surprised. Surely /qst/ has other people as autismal as me.
>>
>>2543926
Usually anything close is a justification for acting out of character.

And I can't recall anyone going in depth on side character motivations.

It's a nice change of pace. There's wasn't even a shitstorm about anything.
>>
>>2543937
I'll take the compliment then. I really like storytelling, character psychology, and how everything interlocks and interacts. I do my best to use my autistic tendencies for good.
>>
>>2543937
I should add, I also really enjoy having other people to bounce off of, so thanks for indulging me Anon.
>>
>>2543961
Oh they were always enjoyable reads so no worries. Definitely helped me articulate my thoughts a bit better as well.
>>
>>2543889
Glad to hear it

>>2543901
True, anons seem to forget that in quests
>>
>>2543926
I liked analyzing the characters and all, sometimes I post my thoughts. It depends.

>>2544184
It's nice to take commitments seriously, but relationships fail. It might even be an interesting narrative point for that to happen.
I think a disease that plagues players, both in quests and in games in general, is the "we must do no wrong" -itis. People dislike failure.
>>
>>2544206
Yeah, that seems like a good summary
>>
>>2544206
>"do no wrong"-itis
Hmm. Could you elaborate on this issue? I do like KC as a well intentioned character, so I don't see him doing wrong intentionally, but I can absolutely see him making the wrong decision, wittingly or unwittingly because it's true to his characterization.
>>
>>2544343
It's not the character, it's the players. They don't want to finally get a date for KC with one of the girls and then fuck it up with a bad roll or decision.
>>
>>2544372
I just didn't think we were at the point where we'd ask any of them out yet.
>>
>>2544343
My point is that players in general don't like screwing up. That's the "do no wrong" itis. This can manifest itself in a bunch of ways. One of them can be the hesitation the anon suggested (though I know it can be well intentioned too, in allowing the characters to be fleshed out). Another is simply this idea of "All or nothing" relationships, which would reject a break up as an unacceptable failure, only accepting permanent perfect commitment. It can also be seen in the way quest narratives are built, the protagonists sometimes seem like a minimax algorithm rather than an actual character, choosing things based solely/mostly on minimizing losses and avoiding mistakes.
Now I'm not saying I believe this applies to this quest, but it's present somewhat accross many (not all). And I see it as something to be avoided, to an extent.

I think this applies to Videogames too. I see a lot of people who have developed a weird form of perfectionism. Ever seen someone keep reloading a conversation multiple times until they get the exact outcome they want? Now sure that can be a sign they are invested and dislike the idea of the story taking a bad turn, but bad turns are part of what makes a good story.

Sorry for the rant, I am kinda bored rn. Feel free to disagree or complement my thoughts.
>>
>>2544402
Oh for me it's a mix of wanting their relationships with Peter more fleshed out and my own bias of preferring to be friends before dating.
I definitely do reload on some runs but never the first time unless the dialogue option was unclear (FYI after an amicable chat at a bar when the person next to you raised their glass and there's an option to glass him, but nothing else resembling clinking glasses together, you'll smash him in the face with yours. THANKS TELLTALE)
Haven't had any issues (and won't if MoG wants to continue) if we mess up or anything. Unless there's no way to repair it and it was over something minor. But I don't think that'll happen.
>>
>>2544433
Oh yeah, the unclear messages is a whole other beast, probably becoming more common with the dialogue choice structure modern games adopt. Fallout is another big offender. I don't think we've picked anything in this quest that didn't do what it said on the tin, so it hasn't really be an issue for me with this one.
>>
>>2544402
Sure, that makes sense. I personally would like to see Raven win the Peterbowl, but if they did date (one off or continuously) but the relationship didn't work out, I would be fine moving on.
>>
>>2544518
I'd be fine with any of the three girls ultimately winning the Peterbowl. I'd even be fine with one of the girls asking Peter out first.
>>
>>2544402

Well, all three girls would have their possible issues if Peter ends up with them.

Raven: Emotionally withdrawn, has been burned before and is therefore afraid of making herself vulnerable with someone in that way. Her emotions can still run wild in some circumstances with dangerous results, and since romance is a barely-treded area for her, that's a very real possibility, which would feed her fear, and so on.

Rose: Has clear anger issues, her father is Slade, who is actually in this realm unlike Trigon, has very little experience with friendship and family, let alone romance due to her upbringing, which could be problematic. Super competitive to a sometimes dangerous level.

Troia: Comes from a very different culture, is a warrior who enjoys combat to an even greater degree than the likes of Rose, which could prove perilous for any potential romantic partners, has a lasso that can force people to obey her (unless Peter's into that sort of thing)

Starfire: Currently dating Robin

Silkie: Straight, another species, likes Peter as a friend only
>>
>>2545771
>Starfire: Currently dating Robin

Starfire confirmed for best girl? Her only flaw is she's in a relationship. (How did she and Dick break up in the comics again?)
>>
>>2545782
In the comics based on the show, they never did.

I also think they got married in the New Teen Titans
>>
>>2545790
I think the wedding got put on hold, then canceled due to Raven being possessed by Trigon. I'm not 100% sure. Certainly, in current mainline continuity they aren't married.
>>
>>2545797
In current mainline, but I'm almost positive they had a daughter together in the old continuity
>>
>>2545800
Too lazy to look it up currently, so I'll leave it to a DC expert to chime in at some point.

Also to add to the previous list of cons regarding each girl, Donna has the additional disadvantage of ???. Mainline Donna's backstory is a huge clusterfuck of contradictions and retcons. To the point that its clusterfuckiness has become an acknowledged part of her in-story character. This Donna either shares that clusterfuck of a history or, by NOT having it constitutes yet a further retcon to add to the clusterfuck pile.

Donna: "Don't ask me about my past, its going to open a whole can of worms and two dozen tabs in google chrome."
>>
>>2545819
Oh, believe me, I am not looking to pull the pin on that grenade

I've gotta say I really enjoyed the maturity of the player base in this quest. MoG, is there's anything you thought might've been an issue in terms of silly player choices?

For what its worth, MoG, I wouldn't be concerned with low participation. Or at the very least, if you do, say so. Let the lurkers pop in and lend their voices. Lop was getting a bit concerned about the low turn out mid way through his Fuck your Ikesai quest, mentioned potentially bringing the season finale ahead of schedule to accommodate, before several lurkers all came in to placate his concerns.

I've personally only actively participated in, like, two quests. Just because of a combination conflicting times, my own life being more pressing, and the general lurker mentality of having nothing better to add.

But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work QM's put into their stories. I've hardly played any quests personally, but I've been having a blast this past year or so reading through all the various quests from years past on the archieves. And nothing hurts more than to see one just suddenly stop without any form of closure. Either because the QM disappeared off the internet, or because there was a falling out, or life happened, or whatever.

I guess what I am trying to say is, there are more people who will read your stories than those in the threads. There are more people than just the active posters who will read this in the future. When you create something and put it on the internet, especially if its a really good OC, it will last. And it will touch people weeks, months, years down the line. I'm one of those people who's wandered the wikis and archieves and stumbled upon some really great shit, and I won't be the last. Nothing pisses me off more than some creator or artist purging their old accounts because they feel they've 'outgrown it' or because 'they are ashamed of it'. If you've put something out here, chances are someone, somewhere, sometime will find it and appreciate it. And nothing hurts more than to see it be unceremoniously stopped or removed.

I don't know if I'll actively read your quest, just because I have plenty of others I need to catch up on. But its clear to me, at least, that you had a lot of fans, as seen when they expressed their honest hurt feelings last thread. I appreciate what you've given us, and I'm sure they do to. If you need to take a break, go for it, your life and health come first. But we are here, waiting for you, because we like what you've made. So thanks for the good times, OP. Hope you can get back into the swing of things sooner rather than later.

True, but he probably holds a special grudge against Raven, and likely Slade for telling the Titans about her, and giving them the ring of Azar.
>>
>>2555105
Absolutely true, and there is also an open question: Does Trigon have a use for Raven still? She was used once to bring him into this world. Was it a one time deal, or can he do it again? Could he serve her ends in some other way?

I think that will determine the nature of the peril she's in. If he still thinks she has a use, (or if she thinks he can punish her more in life than in death), she might not be in mortal peril. Not a fun place to be, regardless, but if you're alive you can have hope for the future.

Nah, DC girls are just god tier. You can't go wrong with almost any of them.

So Raven and Rose seem to be the two most popular

Depends on who's active and what's going on in game. Donna has a chance to shine during the tag game. Though I'm personally on team Raven (if our hang out works out).

That's true to an extent but there's a few of us who have made our choice (though I'm fine with whatever happens). Rose hasn't had any screentime in awhile and still gets fairly consistent votes.
Personally I could see us going for Rose initially but end up with Donna. I like Raven a lot but what holds her back for me it's the same thing I like. I like all those little moments we have with her where we broke through her walls. But they feel stolen. The only reason we get them is because she can't get a read on us. If she could we'd never get them again and it's unfair to want them when that stuff can actively harm her.

Or I'm overthinking it.

I like those moments too, but I don't get the 'stolen' impression. Yes, a lot of them come from her difficulty getting a read on us, but its not like KC is supernaturally confounding. He's just an unknown in the way that any new person is an unknown, and he doesn't fit neatly into any of the familiar categories the other Titan's occupy.

As KC becomes more familiar to her, moments like those born of surprise become less frequent. Instead those moments come from her offering her trust and having that trust validated. Those are anything but stolen, they are freely given and graciously returned.

Girl's been inside your head.
>>
>>2564235
A fair point. I didn't bring it up because as far as we can tell, she didn't see anything beyond what we were looking for. She probably learned more about KC's character from his very willingness to let her in than what she saw.

Indeed. She trusts you.

Ah that is a fair point that I completely forgot. Consider my argument withdrawn (still like Rose more though).
>>

Nothing wrong with that

You're tearing me apart guys,I just can't choose.

Don't worry about it there will come a moment when the time is right for one of them, and in that moment you will know your true heart and you will vote accordingly.

Or I can start killing them off at random

kidding

This is why I didn't vote for the Joker to show up. Instead let's have Nibor show up. The worst thing that ever happened with him around was Henry Rollins went Super Saiyan God.
