Bellamy’s arm coils unnaturally, winding and grinding with an abnormal sound. Soon enough, his forearm turns into a silver sheen, reminiscent of his calves when he first jumped at you. Except now, he has you by the throat, and is going to kill you.

“SUPURINGUI”

You’re not sure what expression you’re wearing on your face, but you are terrified. You might just die here. His freakish piston spring arm is going to go off and cave your fucking skull in through sheer force alone…

PUNCHI

Blackness. By now you're deeply familiar with blackness. You’ve been on two ends of the spectrum this far, the warm embrace of rest, and the sheer indifference of sleep. But right now, as you are sent flying outside face first you discover a new place on the spectrum. The painful realisation of unconsciousness. You know now unconsciousness varies according to person but there is always a constant. Even if you see what’s coming, in this case the fist of some mentally deranged psychopath made of springs, you never feel the impact. Not until later anyway.

Your ears are ringing right now, and you’re certain you’re missing at least two or three teeth. You hope to god you didn’t swallow them. Your vision isn’t much better off, blurring in and out of focus. You’re certain you hear screaming down the road. From what again…? Oh, right, the pirates raiding this town, because of you. It’s faint but it’s there, almost like you’re head is underwater. Muffled. But there’s one thing you know you feel.

PAIN

You’re imbedded into the side of a building. You actually smashed pelvis first into the building across the general store. Slumped you can hardly move. Through the haze you hear it though.

Laughing.

“What a weak FOOL! That’s what you GET for CROSSING ME!”

Weakly you lift your head up. You see Bellamy grinning wildly, tongue hanging out of his mouth. You can… understand him?

“And you know what’s hilarious?! After I’m done with you, I’m gonna find that little girl! I’ll bring her with me… I think she’ll make an EXCELLENT addition to my crew, once she fills out in all the right places!”

His laugh is like a dagger. Sharp and cutting, twirling deep in your brain.

No.

No this won’t do.

You struggle. Through the splinters and shattered pine you grip the edge of the hole you’ve made and hoist yourself up. You stagger as you rise but sure enough, you make it to your feet. You feel the sharp bits of wood penetrating your being. Your left side has a fragment of wood jabbing into it, blood drooling from the wound. Still in your hand is the sword the old man gave you… still sheathed… it wants out. You grab it by the handle, your fist closing around it and clenching so hard on it you start shaking. Bellamy yips in amusement.

“Oi, you shaking from fear?! Do me a favor and DIE ALREADY!!”

He bends down, calves once more compressing into springs.

You pull the sword from its sheath. The steel glints in the setting sun, reflecting an almost crimson glow back at you. Yeah… it’s time.

“SPRINGU,” Bellamy yells out. You don’t understand the Japs and their need to name attacks… but you truly want to try it…

Your knees buckle in preparation, drawing the sword fully with a satisfying and drawn out “shiiing”. You toss the scabbard away, bringing the sword forward.

“SUNAIPA!!”

Bellamy launches forwards, his legs rocketing him forwards with his fist extended outwards, ready to put an end to this fight.

>Sujutoryu; El Dorado!
You have no clue what “Sujutoryu” means, nor where you got the name but you know that surrounding you are four different swords surrounding you, for a total of five including your own. They’re all mimicking your movements, stock still in the air above you, and what’s even better, is that Bellamy doesn’t seem to see them.
-Invisible Swords, all of which can be used separately or together
-Each blade can be directed by the primary like a baton, consuming your enemy in a swarm! +2 per blade used, but will incur penalties the longer you use several blades
-Over time, with more energy, you’ll get MORE blades!

>Akuma no Ken; Totsuzenshi!
The sword calls for blood, and blood it shall have. You’re going to put this son of a bitch down in a single strike, and your blade shall feast. He threatened the innocent you swore to protect, and you shall see him pay for it with his life!
-The sword will feed on blood; draining enemy health when cutting!
-+5 to intimidation, but -10 to social interactions from sheer bloodlust
-Over time, the more lives you claim, the longer you can go on fighting!

I think the DPS option is better. Both seem suitable to deal with large crowds of mooks which god knows is half of the enemies in OP, but I feel more swords just means putting people away faster.

Also Jolly are we going to get an explanation for this shit? Are we hallucinating? Do we have to give ourselves concussioms to get more blades imaginary blades? Or is it like that one guy from Drifters where he uses ghosts and shit?

To answer all your questions just let me say this.

You're not on the same wavelength as this place, you're not supposed to be here. That doesn't mean however that you can't adapt to it. You being in such "intimate" proximity with the natives and a DF user at that is kickstarting that process. Bit by bit you'll acclimate yourself to the world but for the moment you are still considered an anomaly.

The sword, well... lets just say I've got plans for it. But the same thing stands for it, it's a native object, coming into contact with a wormhole with legs. Something so special, so drenched in this world, is sure to react to you.

That's overly optimistic and really underestimates the complexity of the human mind. You'd have better luck trying to find his devil fruit after killing him, halfway across the world or not. Just chuck him and get the bounty, he deserves at least that after the trouble he's caused these people.

I REFUSE TO HAVE FORMAT ERRORS DAMN YOU

You don’t even have to move. You bring the sword to bear, lifting it and its whispy copies up. It’s like they’re made from some ethereal nothing, almost billowing with the wind like smoke or mist. Everything seems to slow down and then…

Sujutoryu,”

With speed that takes even Bellamy by surprise, his eyes go wide as your wrath is brought to bear. You advance and then pivot slightly to the right and duck under him, swinging your sword as he flies past you. All five blades come and grace his flesh, splitting open his body. Blood sprays as he soars past, every second passing brings a new slice across his chest, down his torso and destroying his pink shirt and staining the blades crimson with fresh new sanguine liquid.

EL DORADO!

Moments pass and he soars into the very same hole he imbedded you into. With a great crash he lands into the shop, and right in front of his now incredibly shocked crew. Though you can’t see him now, Bellamy is face up, eyes white as sheets, bleeding from his mouth and brow, narry a breath escaping his lips. You’re not certain you didn’t kill him.

The three or so pirates of his crew shakily look up at the man who has taken down their captain. The ghost blades that float around you are actually doused in blood, making it seem as if droplets of the stuff fall around you in a sick autumn drizzle, thick and red liquid dripping to the cobblestone. To think you were the one who was terrified not a few moments before. God they should see themselves.

TO BE CONTINUED

Wew, I really wanted to get that off my chest. So, congratulations on probably the luckiest thread you’ll ever have, but right now, there’s some serious goddamn business here. You have a

>MAJOR DECISION
What you do here will influence the world around you, in ways you might not even think possible. It can lead you through twists and turns and major surprises, or absolutely nothing at all. It will impact the way the world sees you and reacts to you. So I propose to you this.

>Have Bellamy live, and most things proceed as if they were canon, with a chance you may even meet him again
OR
>Have Bellamy die here, leaving Sarkies in charge and have his fruit appear somewhere VERY close.

>>
>>2580557
Oh I don't want to eat the devil fruit or anything like that. I just thought it'd be interesting watching the reactions from killing this guy in one strike, plus the changes to canon. We could just sell the fruit if we find it though. or the little girl gets it and pulls a luffy on us
>>
>>2580560
Well it doesn't change much. Luffy goes to sky island regardless of what Bellamy does, I imagine he'd beat Doflamingo easier. Also DFs sell for a ton, even the common ass Paramecias.
>>
>>2580538
>Have Bellamy live, and most things proceed as if they were canon, with a chance you may even meet him again
This probably won't win at this rate unless some people suddenly change their minds but I really don't want our character to be a killer already. Belllamy lost and can't hurt anyone anymore I don't really want to be the reason for his death. I'm also intrested how this'll change him and if we can add him to our crew later on. I'm not really convinced his df outweighs the negative especially considering the fact that he have a way to fight now.
>>
>>2580538
>Have Bellamy die here, leaving Sarkies in charge and have his fruit appear somewhere VERY close.

I wonder,if the world is chagning us and adding more abilities to our person to make us more shonen, can we start making bullshit and have the world take it as canon?
Like saying our cutlass is actually a treasure from El Dorado and we just reactivated it and it may unlock more powers later on, or making up some far away continent that's not apart of the world government to make sense of us being a foreigner to this world
>>

Hey Esquire I've been growing more and more curious the longer I think about it so I gotta ask how long before the canon does this take place? I'm not sure if you're keeping it a secret or just don't wanna commit to a set time this early so if you don't wanna tell just say so.

>>
>>2585121

>>2585156
We're not gonna just choose a fruit. We have to actually find them

SO FIRSTLY, Devil Fruits. I'll address these in no particular order, but what I see a lot of is wether or not you know what a DF even is, the answer for which is you kinda do. You wrote a paper on Piracy not on OP itself so you know the MC (Luffy) has Stretch Armstrong Powers from a fruit, but you don't know what the fuck the fruit looks like nor at all how they work. They do in fact last forever and can even be eaten in pieces, as all it takes is a bite. Though after you eat a piece the rest of the fruit becomes inert. So yeah, jam is theoritically possible.

As for finding DFs, they'll kinda be like the rarest of the rare Magical Items, where you'll have to roll high to find some if they're even there. Identifying the fruit however is impossible without some serious scientific equipment, so I'll be rolling for which type and what the hell model it is both from secret rolls.

>>2585083
>>2585113
The naming scheme IS infact mythical places, be they whole lands like Elisyum and Shangri La to lost cities like Atlantis. Unfortunately I can't tell you anything about the sword for the moment, just that with mastery... you could pull off some pretty crazy shit.

Yeah, I'm going to need a better frame of reference then moon pirates and a cruise ship. Would I be correct in assuming it's before canon?
>>
>>2586395
Wait does OP mean the part where Sanji is just introduced?
>>
>>2586334
Hm, might be worth holding on to the fruit and not selling it then, if we manage to acquire it, even if we don't eat it right now. It wouldn't be terribly compatible with a swordsmen, but at least we know what fruit it is, and what it does. Better then rolling for our DF with /qst/ dice, I'd bet.
>>
>>2586429
Really depends on how much we can get for it desu. The avergae for a df is 100,000,000 and this is an above average df so with a little negotiation we could make big bank potentially. It doesn't really synergise with a swordsman true but it isn't a bad combo. It has good mobility and will allow us to hit hard and not just rely on a sword
>>
>>2586395
>>2586414
>>2586428
Well now that I think about it I think they were Anime only but it was this guy,

http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Galley

The point is Luffy has pretty much just left Fushia Village and making his way to the cruise ship where he meets Coby.
>>
>>2587154
Ok so we still have some time to meet Zoro in our bounty hunting adventures (we all agree on bounty hunting right?)
>>
>>2587154
Oh, alright, so we arrived slightly before canon then. That’s not too bad.
>>
>>2587245
It's either joining the Marines or bounty hunting if I remember correctly what the general sentiment was in the last thread. We'll see once the vote for that comes up.
>>
>>2587267
Marines? Did you read the thread almost nobody wanted to be a marine everyone wanted to be a pirate until bounty hunting came up. The most they said was temporarily joining for training
>>
>>2587273
Dang, I should have read the thread again.

Temporarily joining the Marines makes sense, provided it IS temporary.
>>
>>2587280
>>2587273
Might want to take Marine training off the table, now. I mean we initially thought of joining, to get ourselves armed and trained in the use of those arms, but we’ve already got a a weird magical sword now, so I doubt that the training we’d get from marines would be very useful. Bounty hunting seems like the best way to hone our skills, or start our own pirate crew or some such, the former more then the latter. We’ve got the skill for it, realistically speaking, considering we just one shot a pirate captain.
>>
>>2587297
Meh I could go either way. Even if our sword is weird it won't hurt to learn how to use one even if it's just the basics and we might be able to learn some rokushiki techniques which will be priceless assets if we wanna go to the big leagues. I still want to eventually end up as a pirate though but my mind could change

I think we should start off as a bounty hunter something along the lines of "our character gets Bellamy's bounty and realizes that bounty hunting is a great way to make money and train at the same time" (also might let us meet Zoro for the potential rivalry I'm dead set on happening) and then we could go either way from there. Bounty hunting is the perfect middle ground from adventuring like a pirate to turning in criminals like a marine so we have a little bit of time for our mc to figure out if he wants to be a pirate, marine, or stay as a bounty hunter and meet new characters that could influence his final choice
>>
>>2587309
Rokushiki would indeed be rather useful, but I’d be concerned by the fact that, if we get to the point where they were teaching us those techniques, just retiring or quitting or vanishing off into the night without a fuss would no longer be an option. They’d regard us as too valuable an asset to just let us go quietly unless we like lost a leg or an arm.
>>
>>2587318
Good point I doubt they'd just let us retire. that's why we have to run away & become a pirate so we get a high bounty for betraying the marines
>>
>>2587318
Well to be fair Rokushiki can be imitated. Sanji didn't have any formal training and he mastered a form of Geppou in two years, something that would take most CP9 agents three or four times as long.
>>
>>2587352
Fuckin forgot my name, jeezus. But yeah the point stands, like most things meant only for the government, Rokushiki can be... co-opted. Like a security camera or a mall cop segway.
>>
>>2587354
Update when?
>>
>>2587354
It can indeed be imitated true but it's a kinda crude method of doing so. It did take Sanji 2 years but he had to go through absolute hell for that, constantly running for the 1 and half years. And even with that I assume that the marines can do it better. It's just like any other martial art you can watch a video and imitate it but it'll be better to learn from a master. Despite all my points though it still probably isn't worth all the time commitment when we can imitate it

>>2587358

>I doubt that the training we’d get from marines would be very useful. Bounty hunting seems like the best way to hone our skills, or start our own pirate crew or some such, the former more then the latter. Not necessarily, while the magic sword is cool and all, the marines would still be able to provide a lot of training, teaching, and other stuff to help mc hone his mind and body, as well a good place to learn about the world from. Not to mention mastering our weapon would likely net us enough strength to net us a high rank and tons of influence and connections. On that note, I'm not saying we should go marines, just that it still offers a lot of benefits. I think I can say going pirate doesn't really look appealing to most. Especially mc himself, since all he really has to go on how pirates act are bellamy and his earth knowledge of pirates since he's a normie. Bounty hunter is appealing, though it'll definitely have the toughest start due to basically being a loner in a world we really know nothing about.
>>
>>2587374
We know luffy is a pirate and the protagonist, I don't think we know the world government is sketchy though. Would it be out of character for us to go bounty hunter as a way to stay neutral since we have an inkling that not all pirates are bad and not all marines are good?
>>
>>2587374
We could join the marines find out that they're corrupt and pirates are not all bad and then leave to become a pirate or soemthing along those lines or as >>2587394 suggested during our time bounty hunting we could encounter some good pirates
>>
>>2587400
I don't want to go pirate because I feel like that would draw attention to us faster and I'd rather try to fly under the radar. Completely unrelated but can we use English as a secret code that no one knows?

I just don't see the MC ever considering going pirate after seeing them pillage a town.
>>
>>2587433
I just checked. It’s about 5:25 there, and Jolly said to expect the session to start around 9:30, so we’ve got around 4 hours.
>>
>>2587444
In one piece there are 2 types of pirates Peace Mains like Luffy and Morganeers like Bellamy. We just so happened to see a bad side at first but over time we'll see more and more from the good side. It's not like the marines aren't equally if not more fucked up
>>
>>2587453
You're talking about gmt right? I just checked on google and it says that it's 4:31 right now
>>
>>2587460
Yeah, it would seem you’re in the right here. I checked a different source, which game me the same time you are just now, and checked yet another one which gave the same time as that second one, so it seems like my first source was an hour off, for whatever reason.

Alright let it be known right now I am in GMT+2

So when I say 9:30PM GMT, I admit I should have put +2. So 9:30/10:30PM GMT converted to EST it'd be 5/6pm.

Sorry for the confusion everyone, but I AM running today so no worries.

Holy shit we killed Bellamy

With triple crits in a row too
>>
>>2587548
We're a future arc antagonist
>>
>>2587574
Well now that Bellamy is dead Jaya needs a new antagonist
>>
Another thought; are the invisi-blades OUR ability or does the sword itself make them?
If it's the latter then I'm suddenly not as fond of it, I dislike relying on a singular item to use a cool ability.
>>2587570
Speaking of crits
>>2587502
Jolly, what was that secret dice roll for? How hard Bellamy's crew shat themselves? Or is that still spoiler territory in any measure?
>>
>>2587579
Jolly said it was something of a mix. Our extra dimensional weirdness having an effect on an item firmly rooted in this world. He said we’d acclimate to this world eventually though, so no idea what effect that’ll have on it.
>>
>>2587602
Oh yeeaah, we're basically a short-term reality bender.
Well, bottom line is that I hope we can learn to do the invisi-blades with other swords/bladed weapons.
>>
>>2587579
If you're taking about >>2580455 it was for how close the df appears near us iirc

Also I personally perfer having an strong item to being overpowered from the start like every other isekai mc
>>
>>2587457
Now that I'm at a computer I'll be a little more specific. The first things the MC sees pirates do when he gets transported into the dimension is intimidate a bar, start ransacking a village, and the captain of the crew basically say he was going to turn a little girl into a sex-slave. Even if he does find out about there being some decent pirates out there, I do not see his overall view of them ever turning into anything even slightly positive, much less deciding to join or even start a pirate crew himself. So the only paths I can really see are either starting as a Marine, or heading straight into Bounty Hunting.

Another thing to consider is that for every 'good' pirate like Luffy out there, there are easily five Bellamy's ransacking, murdering, and otherwise terrorizing the general populace.
>>
>>2587622
>Also I personally perfer having an strong item to being overpowered from the start like every other isekai mc
...Yeeah fair point right there, Anon
>>
>>2587628
The point of what I was saying was that pirates aren't exclusively bad so there's no reason why mc wouldn't become a good pirate just because there are bad pirates. Pirates in one piece for the most part are people who want freedom and to follow their dream no matter how fucked that dream is. If the mc wants to find the one piece he'll become a pirate and travel the world just because Bellamy's are out there it doesn't mean he can't

>>2587629
Ok I'll admit that explanation was rushed, allow me to specify. It's much more interesting to watch the mc have a good win condition but not be overpowered. The sword gives him good offense but his other "stats" are mediocre at best meaning he won't just steamroll through everyone in the beginning, he's actually gotta be careful, train, and plan things out instead of starting at level 300 and getting a harem by simply blinking
>>
>>2587628
I'd say we know enough about the setting that once we realize we're in onepeice that we won't hate pirates. I do want to go bounty hunter though or something else like traveling merchant instead of going pirate or navy though
>>
>>2587664
And my point was that I find it hard to believe that the MC would ever want to associate with pirates after seeing the sheer brutality of a pirate crew first hand.

If a heroic pirate crew had managed to interfere and help protect the town during Bellamy's rampage, sure, I could see the protag thinking along those line and maybe joining a crew. But after what just happened, I just don't see it ever happening.
>>
>>2587664
Nah I got you the first time around, but thanks for specifying.
I still want to learn to use the invisi-blades with other swords in the future, just so we don't get locked out of our swordfighting style if our sword gets lost/destroyed.

>follow their dream no matter how fucked that dream is
Thing about our MC is that he doesn't have a dream yet - maybe he wants to find a way back to his own world, maybe he wants to find a place to call home(Or carve one out with his own hands if the world won't acommodate him)
Bounty hunting would give time to learn more about the One Piece world and think about that dream while also giving him a way of making some mad dosh!
>>
>>2587696
Bounty Hunting is pretty great for the beggining. You can work freelance for both pirates and marines
>>
>>2587696
I say we just bum ship rides around the world doing odd jobs for cash and food until MC figures out what he wants to do
>>
>>2587683
Like what >>2587677 said. The mc first exposure to the one piece world was technically through good pirates so when he knows that there are good pirates out there I don't see why he wouldn't associate with them in particular. It seems the the general populace of one piece know about and acknowledge Peace Mains we see it all the time when citizens learn that the straw hats are pirates they're shocked and a little scared at first but usually quickly realize that they're good people. So I don't see why he can't associate with Peace Mains and hate Morganeers instead of grouping them all together. That's racist anon
>>
>>2587731
This.Honestly I wouldn't mind serving under Luffy.
>>
>>2587731
>That's racist anon
When did pirates become a race?
>>
>>2587735
NOOOO. I want us to do our own thing and maybe meet them occasionally like on Jaya or Sabody but I don't want to just follow the protagonist
>>
>>2587742

Right now
>>
>>2587731
We also understand that peace main or not pirates aren't exactly liked by the law, unless we have a good reason to piss off the government I don't see why we would bother going pirate. I don't want to go navy either though since that would tie us down. I think we should explore the world while getting stronger without ever flying a jolly roger or declaring ourselves a pirate
>>
Hey all, might be running a bit late, still gonna run though, no worries.
>>
>>2587746
Speaking of Sabody, if/when we go bounty hunter we should make that place our main base of operations! Think about, all those Pirates going there in order to get to the New World? That's prime hunting grounds right there!
...Admittedly at this point my suggestion is pretty metagame-y.
>>
>>2587751
Being a pirate means we don't have to follow any laws and I'm pretty sure if you're looking for the one piece you're officially declared a pirate at that point. Unless if we get really big the fact that the marines don't like us won't matter too much. The appeal of pirates is the freedom and the adventure for fame and treasure as opposed to bounty hunters who have to follow the laws and and usually aren't as focused on adventure and either stay in 1 place for a long period of time waiting for pirates or travel only for the sake of finding more pirates so they get to eat instead of adventure for the sake of adventure. I personality want to be a bounty hunter at least for the time being but I definitely see the appeal in being one
>>
>>2587756
This is a smart idea in theory and it's not hidden knowledge so i don't really consider it metagaming BUT this idea sounds incredibly boring so no thank you
>>
>>2587802
I'll be honest I'm spitballing ideas as they come to me without thinking too much, since I won't be able to really participate during the session. Damn timezone difference.
>>
>>2587788
We can be an adventurer without being a pirate and I don't mind following laws at least until some corrupt navy officer comes along but even then we might have legal ground to stand on against him, I just find the idea of being neither a pirate or part of the navy interesting
>>
Reminder that if we go Bounty Hunter, we should find a Six Power user and pay him dosh to teach us his shit

Meh. Most of the world building goes toward the pirates or marines so it's kind of a waste not to be one unless you there's something cooler like bounty hunting. Also being just an adventurer doesn't allow a lot of combat opportunities which is a big appeal of shounen series like One Piece. Adventuring is cool and all but being a pirate allows for tons of adventure AND combat which just seems more fun imo

__________

You make your way downstairs, the sound of celebration drowns out your footsteps. The kitchen is filled up with four people, including the crotchety old store owner’s wife and poor bar man whose bar your burnt two nights ago! You’ll hope he doesn’t see yo-

“ああ! 兄!”

A sudden jubilant voice startles you out of your stealth midway down the stairs. You turn to face the voice and find it’s Chihiro!

“Chihiro! You’re okay!”

She comes up and hugs your knees, rubbing her face into your pant leg

“ごめんなさい!本当にごめんなさい! 私はあなたのせいだと言ってとても残念です! あなたは海賊と戦って勝った! ありがとうございました! ありがとうございました!”

Goddamn you can feel her tears practically soaking through your leg. She looks up at you and her face is a mixture of relief, thanks, worry and happiness all at once. In all he celebration, she must have been worried about you… you think. You need to learn japanese first. With a bit of hesitation you pat her head as she continues sniffling against your knee and smile down at her. Her teary eyes begin to clear as she smiles back, seemingly understanding that though you didn’t comprehend her language, that her gratitude came across clear.

You had a friend who was way into the whole anime thing back in highschool, and he’d always go on and on about “protecting smiles”... if this is what that is… you think you could get used to it.

“Chihiro,” her mother states, “これらの料理に助けに来て、あなたの友人にお祝いに参加させてください。

She turns back to her mother, and with a single “Uhn” she goes back to her mother’s side, and nabs a platter of tankards filled with cider. Her mother turns to face you, and she smiles at you… she almost reminds you of your own mother.

“あなたが私の夫を見るとき、神秘的な果実を "失った"と彼に伝えてください。 それを私の感謝と考えてください.”

She makes an air quote at the word “ushinatta”. You can only assume it’s some cheeky joke or some sarcastic remark that while you kept her daughter safe you still kinda destroyed her husband’s store. You simply smirk and give her a two fingered salute. You officially exit the kitchen into the foyer of the store, and there it is.

People dancing on tables, drinks being swigged in long winded movements, singing and celebrating, meat being munched, fruits being crunched, and if you’re not mistaken, that old man is singing his heart out, with a marine cap on his head! He takes a huge swig from his tankard and lets out a satisfied breath before noticing you.

“オイ! 彼はそこにいる!”

The raucous crowd turns to you and cheer out, quickly swarming you and picking you up by your legs and waist, hoisting you up and above the crowd, chanting! In… english?!

Hiro! Hiro! Hiro!

Well… who are you to object? You simply smile and wave, making sure your sword never falls from the loop of your belt as you’re jostled by cheering townsfolk. Thankfully you don’t have to speak much during the entire party, mostly keeping to yourself and gorging on the various meats and vegetables! People start to make up stories of how you took down the pirate captain, but you simply pointed to your sword and made a slashing motion, which, while more boring than the one where you fired a laser at him from your ass, is still badass none the less. Eventually… the day starts to die down, and you even learned a few words! Namely involving sailing! Weird how they were all oriented that way. The old mad actually wanted to meet you down by the bar you ended up burning, which you remember was out by the dock-

Oh. Oh no he couldn’t have.

You make your way down to the dock and sure enough, sitting on a barrel is the grumpy middle aged man, tending to the knots on a small sailboat, seemingly meant for one person. He spots you in his periphery, and beckons you over. You pull out your phone for this one, seeing it luckily recharged a bit, leaving you at 2%... 5 hours of power if you use it right. With a few drags of the screen you turn on the translation function. There’s a moment of silence between the two of you, but you know that he’s the one who'll speak first...

“Really? Out of all your questions, that’s what you lead with?”

“Man, I burned down a bar and killed someone in the span of 42 hours, priorities are the least of my worries at this point.”

“Fair enough. They’re called Den-Den Mushi,” You furrow your brow in confusion, “Stupid name, I know, but it’s the best they got. Weird little snail things that can read and interpret radio waves. Like a phone just… alive, with a receiver built in.”

“So… they evolved specifically to use radio waves? For what purpose?”

“Seemingly for human use. They’re actually bred by the companies that sell them. Each with a specific purpose or person or organization it's assigned to. Some project images, others can intercept signals. Like I said, they’re phones just… slimy and alive.”

Well... the more you know.

“Alright, next question… you said... I’m from the future?”

“Well maybe, I don’t know. What year is it back on Earth?”

“2018.”

“Jesus fucking Christ… I’ve been gone 17 years…”

17 years?! That means he’s been here since…

“You’ve been here since 2001?!”

He gives a solemn nod, his eyes betraying a certain melancholy.

“Like I said, most phones back then were flip phones, with the occasional Black Berry and Ipod.”

“Huh… so… how did you get here?”

“I died.”

“Oh.”

“Don’t worry, it was painless. I was on my way to work when some asshole pushed me into the oncoming Red Line.”

Red Line?

“Actually now that you mention it, where are you from?”

“Oh! That’s right I haven’t introduced myself have I? Sorry, my name is Daniel. Daniel Brown. Used to be a stock trader in Washington, DC.”

“Oh cool, I’m from Virginia. Joseph Johnson… college student.”

You share an awkward handshake between the two of you and quickly resume the interrogation.

“Alright, so… probably my most important question… where the hell are we?”

“Sanseno Island.”

“No I don’t mean here here I mean… is this still Earth?”

“Kid, you just fought a man who could punch you into a wall, do you still think this is Earth?”

“Well… yes and no.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“Thinking back on it, no one ever named the world. It just was, it was called ‘The World’, or ‘Sekai’ if you’re speaking Japanese.”

“Why Japanese?”

“Your guess is as good as mine. Point is, if this place had to have a name, I suppose it’d be Sekai.”

Well… damn. That just leaves you with more questions than it does answers.

“Alright well… how can I-”

“Get back home?”

“Yeah…”

He gazes down to the wooden floor of the docks. The expression in his eyes changing slightly as his mouth curls into a smile.

“Well… I don’t know. Had I know I’d have gone back already.”

Well, shit that-

“But!...” He interrupts your train of thought “to be honest kid… having been here for as long as I have… I think I can say with confidence that despite whats just happened here… you’ll want to stay.”

“What?”

“Despite the pirates and the crazy dangers that lurk around most corners of the world… it’s so exciting that you won’t even notice. I could never have imagined having joined the Marines and fighting pirates, or getting married back in DC. My world was just so… small back then, and here…”

He looks up at the night sky, and you follow his eyes…

Wow.

Do we realize were in one piece yet? How much do we know about one piece from our report?
>>
>>2588598
Practically nothing. But you'll be coming to terms with that soon.

In the next post as a matter of fact.
>>
>>2588598
We know who Luffy is and what he looks like. We'll probably recognize key phrases like "one piece", "king of the pirates", and "devil fruit" but not much beyond that. Hell the mc unironically called Zoro Zolo

I WON'T LET THIS MOMENT BE RUINED BY FORMAT ERRORS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYDxNCvug4o

wow...

You’ve never been camping before.

You’ve rarely stepped outside the city or the suburbs. Never walked into a grassy plain where the bright lights of the metropolis like agitated sunbeams glare downward from street lamps in the tense night. But there was once when you were a child that your grandfather took you to the Grand Canyon in the dead of night. There you witnessed God.

You couldn’t speak. It was something you had to be in person to witness, like witnessing miracles… it was a treasured moment you kept close to your heart when you had returned to the concrete jungle. But with memory it faded, and dark skies with white needle point piercings of far off light became your world once more…

‘Till now.

Your eyes become misty at the memory, and you gaze down at the old man once more, who has a full, warm and tender smile on his face this time.

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it’s already working.”

You smile back at the old man.

"Well... if I wanted to make something of myself, if I still wanted to go back... where would I go?"

It's at this point his smile becomes almost as radiant as the night sky.

"It's rumored out there is a vast fortune. A Pirate treasure, hidden on a island no one has yet to find. The island of Raftel, where the King of the Pirates, Gold Roger was said to have hidden the greatest treasure of all..."

Wait a minute... King of the Pirates, Gold Roger?! He's not going to...

"The Treasure said to make any man's dream come true..."

No fucking way... you're in...

"One Piece."

TO BE CONTINUED

WEW.

So. It is 3:55AM GMT. I am tired as all hell. Will resume probably at like, 10PM tomorrow... same thread. Goodnight everyone. Post questions, do what ever, I'll answer them in the morning.

Thanks for running great session today (especially the end)! Can't wait to see mc freak out about learning he's in the fucking world one piece
>>
Not gonna lie. I got the chills.

Hyped for the future, Red.
>>
>>2588699
Thanks for the run, Red. The last legit gave me chills.
>>
>>2587457
Didn't the whole "peace mains and morganeers" classification thing get dropped past the early one shots though? Plus yeah we'll see that pirates aren't so bad and marines aren't all good eventually but mc is a normie that's never even read one piece and it'd make more sense in charater to be wary of pirates, besides the actual named characters he knows of, and trust the law enforcement that's supposed to protect the people.
>>
>>2589199
Just because they didn't really use doesn't mean they don't exist we've seen plenty of good pirates so even if they don't have a specific name it doesn't really matter. He knows a little about one piece before I watched one piece I knew it that Luffy was a good guy and this kid wrote a paper about it so he should at least know that. Also he grew up in a world where pirates are commonly romanticized to be brave adventurers and not killers and rapists especially in fiction like one piece. Also why would knowing people that trust the marines make us want to join? I trust the police but I don't want to join and I can still see why some people break certain rules/laws. And from the mc's point of view he was the one who took out Bellamy while the pirates were pillaging the town. Like hell if he wasn't there or if Bellamy beat him a lot of people could've actually died. That doesn't set the best impression either.

Excellent run Jolly, I'm excited to see what direction this quest goes in!

Oh shit I don't ever remember him mentioning that. But he's still late that means the only possibility is that he's dead. More dead than Bellamy
>>
>>2590235
I'd say there's still a chance that he's running tonight but I'd give up in an hour from now
>>
Jolly is kill. Rip Jolly.
>>
>>2589940
Want to be the only special snowflake this much?
>>
>>2590534
That is unironically one of the reasons. Having a bunch of people get isekai'd undercuts the amazement of it. It also raises more questions such as "why one piece in particular". It makes some sense for us because we just spent all night writing about one piece but I bet this guy has no idea about what it. In addition to all that it also removes some of the fun of slowly figuring out the mystery and just gives us a guy who explains what's going on instead.
>>
>>2590561
> It makes some sense for us because we just spent all night writing about one piece

No we didn't. the paper we wrote was "Explain from the given text how Piracy affected the world at large." One Piece was just an example of piracy in pop culture that we mentioned, and we voted for the non-weeb option, so we didn't even do that much research on it.

Which is why it makes no sense to me how people think Johnny will know or care about the difference between crews like Luffy's and Bellamy's.
>>
>>2590566
I don't see what's so hard to understand. If our mc wanted to find the one piece for example he would become a Peace Main (a good pirate and literally the embodiment of romanticized brave adventurers) instead of becoming a Morganeer (a bad pirate and embodiment of what pirates actually were). I think it's safe to say our mc would 100% care about the difference considering there 2 different things one with a good connotation and one with a bad instead of generalizing all pirates as bad especially when we are in a fictional setting about romanticized pirates
>>
>>2590534
Basically? Yeah. Multiple isekai people take away from the uniqueness of the character. In my opinion.
>>
>>2590593
Nah, if the only uniqueness of that character is centred around the fact that he's not from that world/plane/dimension then that character is quite shallow don't you think?

Having more people from other worlds/our world being isekai'ed into this world, in my opinion, would only add to the history and to the MC, in the aspect of the different ways that these people deal with that same event and different pespectives based on their way of life, gender, sex, etc. Example being how a marine biologist
would react to One Piece's ocean wildlife and to the fishman.

But of course that's just my shitty opinion.
>>
>>2590575
It's hard to understand because I just cannot see our character ever wanting to become one after the shit he went through. He gets dropped into an unknown world, gets into a bar fight with pirates, runs away after taking major injuries, gets saved by an ex-marine, gets attacked by pirates again, accidentally provokes the captain into ransacking the entire town, and has to fight for his life, only barely managing to win. At no point do I see this character ever going 'Well I guess I'll be a pirate now.'

And saying that he'll just be a Good Pirate is about as much of an argument as saying we'll just be a Good Marine.
>>
>>2590660
I would lean more to the idea of John becoming more of a Marine guy and maybe later having some sympathies for pirates when he meets different kinds of them. Or maybe he will simply travel for a time to get a better feel of the world around him.
>>
>>2590664
I think that makes more sense for the former, because of what happened to John until now and the knowledge we have about pirates, this helping John lean more to the side of the marine, remembering that most of John's reference of pirates comes from our world's pirates.
>>
>>2590664
>>2590691
I personally think Mc-kun is in the middle right now. Sure he saw some pretty fucked up pirates and probably hates people like him but like in real life just because you hate criminals doesn't necessarily mean that you wanna become a cop. I think bounty hunting is am amazing middle ground for the time being considering it shares some watered down traits of both (traveling like a pirate and catching criminals like a marine) until he decides if he wants to fully comit to either one after meeting some more people from both sides and learning about the world, training, and making good money all at once
