BoC2 - Part 2 Electric Boogaloo

Summary repost:
>The Gods and Demi of the Old World waged war, shoving shoulder to shoulder until their realm was forgotten. The Old World forgotten and ruined, in fractures of time and arcana, a new world is born amongst the chaos.

>You are a being of creation, what people of this realm may come to call a Creator or a Daemon. You are a being born with innate knowledge and arcane power.
>It feels only right to fill this empty terrain with your own creations.

The Urchynn are literate, educated makers of paper. These traits come together as they develop the skills of Cartography, also known as Mapmaking, though it does take the use of Applewood to make the paper for these maps..

Their increasing use of Syrconite tools has also gotten them interested in the idea of metallurgy, and they develop this farther, wondering what else they might be able to forge and smith.

Explore (2) (+10 Divine influence)

2A-12

Using the vast powers I have acquired from the land, I reach out to the east to view the unclaimed eastern shores and beyond, out to the large seascape to see what lies out in the deep.

Develop (2)

Create new minions, Creeplings.

Watching my children begin to make themselves at home in my forest, I realize that while they have food, they have minimal comfort. I decide that this world should not be limited to just one kind of my beautiful spawn and set out to give the gaping a companion and brother to help them to endure the hardships of the world. Grasping a great mound of Creep in my many tendrils, I shove the entire mound into my ever-widening maw. With an inhuman series of groans and scraping noises, the mound settles inside me. I give the form a shape, a vision, and I pour my energy into the mass.

The Creeplings are born. I reopen my mouth to release many large, skittering bestial creatures colored the same as the dark creep they were spawned from. With four legs and two armlike appendages with long retractable blade-like talons they skitter and chitter as the play and test their new forms. Exausted, I lean back in my wooden chair and heave a sigh of relief and satisfaction. The creeplings waste no time testing out their new mortal instincts ripping a curious herbivore to pieces before it has the chance to run. Smiling to myself, I reach over and take a long and well deserved sip of my Co-chanka, watching the display with amusement and pride.

Develop (2)
Riding tech. Possible affinity +1

I see the little ones grow curious as they observe the new creatures in their forest, and the Creeplings quickly notice the presence of a great many beings having surrounded the clearing. Not wanting brothers to get off on a bad foot, I introduce them to each other. The Creeplings and Gaping both (after some nervous attempts at communication) seem to quickly hit it off, sensing one another as children of the same father. Using both of their respective forms to their advantage I teach how to ride together. Soon many chittering noises and hollow sounds I know to be laughter are echoing through the forest, a glee centered around the common love of gathering food and meat. Smiling to myself, I allow myself to relax and regain my strength while I think about the bright future my people hold.

Elyot the Unseen thought for quite a long time about what he should do next.
The most important thing that the creature had revealed to him unintentionally was that there were other Daemons out there that also opposed it.
Also, it seemed that, as important as the skull was to it, it still had other things more important to do than to take it by force immediately. The other Daemons out there were in danger and it was to them that Elyot and his Canin owed their Loyalty to.
Elyot was tempted to strike at the creature and its lands while it was unsuspecting. It would be satisfying to teach it why it is never wise to turn your back on a dragon.
But the Truth of the matter was that his people were really unprepared for war. He had many things to do. He needed more avenues of support.

The first thing he did was finish his experiment with Oltar Ore, hoping that it just might, by some slim chance, hold the secret to defeating his enemy. He place the ore into the different rune sigil and willed it to activate.
>Research/Develop [2/2] Oltar Ore Magic
I want to see what Oltar Ore in a magic rune does and what changes to the rune shape does.

He needed to find other Daemons, but had no idea of how far they could be, or where. He sent Canin exploring past the southern fields.

I intended for "weaponry" to mean better weapons made from stone, wood, and plant fiber than the spears and clubs that would need to be made on the move. Things like axes, adzes, bows and arrows, slings, etc.

Develop [1]: The Crocodilian finishes the instrument, admiring and spreading his handiwork. Finish Musical Instruments

Develop[2] (With DI): Wanting to give something more tangible to his people, Valakor takes some of his resources and creates a surprisingly humble, but very well built building on the spot where he first "Awakened" into this world. It consists of a few rooms all serving various purposes. While there are a few more mundane common areas, there are Three Notable areas:

One such room is the Hall of History where he creates beautiful btu small stained glass pictures of historic events, with his knowledge of advanced glasswork and some crafty application of dye. In it Valakor does not appear, as it is to symbolize how great his people are, not him. An example of a recorded event goes up to even a recent one, where a Crocodilian is shown crafting an instrument.

Another is the Chamber of Secrets, a room that seems rather plain and sparsly decorated, but has a special property. Any secrets told here are safe, as once a room-member leaves they cannot remember what was discussed inside. This is particularly useful for the rare secrets that are better said but forgotten.

The final interesting room is one that encourage's Valakor's minions to create, a room where inventions can be showcased for a captive audience if necessary. It seems like it can also be used as just a general large gathering area for special events and the like.
Use 2 Shorebell Wood and 1 White Sand to create the first "church" of Valakor

Develop [2]: The small secret shrines of the Crocodilian people lead to an interesting trend in their thinking. While Valakor's name is never mentioned, phrases similar to "May the Shrouded One, keep you safe" or "May the Secret Keeper watch your back" become more common as the populace becomes more and more devoted to their "god". As such, offering small prayers, either through the ritual at the shrine, or in public through pure though becomes rather commonplace and spreads rapidly among the well-cared for flock of Valakor.
Prayer please!

Trade Completed with Tim: Valakor traded his techs of Music and Cooking, for Tim's tech of Seafaring I.

Develop [1]: Valakor, after learning the intracacies of the sea at a very basic level, decides to expound on that knowledge passing it to the more inovative group of his society and waiting anxiously as they take up their diving task of attempting to design a vessel to take advantage of the knowledge He and his people now have.

Following experiments on bonerock it seems magic is quite unpredictable and can end up dangerous. Care should be taken when handling it. A Yotile almost got pierced. Despite this we shall use even more of it. The Brambleroot has been quarried and moved beyond the mountain south of the island. A sigil of gigantic size is drawn here, the shape almost completed as the Librarian itself is finishing it. It points toward the volcanic island and it's precious wood. An easy way to access it must be created, and so it will be today or so we hope. As the sigil begin glowing, the bramble dash above the see...
Use fucking every last bit of brambleroot we have. Make a magic bridge to link the main island to the volcanic one hex island

It seemed that Elyot the Unseen was not going to find allies anytime soon despite his exploration. He needed to prepare his people for war.
The development of teleportation magic could prove to be quite useful but first he needed to improve their tools. He set forth to training his Canin to harness the power of fire, which he long ago shared with them by showing them how to make fire beyond just borrowing his breath. Breathing on Oltar Ore he tried melting it and forming it into different shapes as it hardened and taught the skill to his people.

>Research/Develop [2] [Solgrass] Weaving
I want to develop the ability to craft cloth items and develop cloth based technologies.

His grandest idea was to show his Canin how to build delicately and intricately carved runic symbols into the handles of their spears and then secure Solgrass strands into those sigils so that the warriors might infuse their will into them and, with a deadly thrust, release a radiant blast. Tritonius has his tritonians continue expanding to the known ocean that they have explored thus far.

Terraform action using divine influence [4]

Tritonius creates giant war squids, capable of using ink to blind opponents in ocean combat. They attack in packs and use ink on a large scale. Tritonius orders them to his kingdoms borders. Anything entering his kingdom by underwater means would quickly find themselves running into an ocean of ink being blinded, then being electrocuted by the electric eels who would swim into the ink shocking anything in it, the eels would then flee and the squids would devour anything in the ink. Anything that manages to somehow escape the squids underwater would then face sea hydras. Anything nearing his borders on the surface would be attacked by the sea hydras.

Finish Vessel I, Trit face on bottom

Develop [2](DI): Seeing his people satisfied with their new place of worship, Valakor chooses one of his Chosen, the one that witnessed him casting spells directly and the one he has passed many ideas through, and imbues the Chosen with part of his power. He names the minion, Taragos (Ter-Ay-Ghos) and elevates his status with a divine decree to all his other minions. He is now the Archbishop of Secrets, chosen directly by Valakor, and should be addressed with such respect. He is to live in the church and is to interpret and pass Valakor's will.
Additionally, Valakor creates a council of Bishops to serve under Taragos indirectly, elected every 20 years. The position is purely merit based, and the only -real- power either of these Bishop roles have is to delegate the distribution of technology and secrets on a part time basis. The position is also a status symbol, showing off that you are part of "Valakor's will" and brings great pride to any who hold such a seat.
Coincidentally, the merit based election still elects about 80% Chosen to the Bishop seats, purely due to their more secretly disposed nature (Lore Side Note: The Chosen are technically supposed to keep that fact hidden and exist as Crocodilians, the latter has rumors about the existence of the former however due to a fatal mistake by the latter.) The idea of an election based soley on merit elates everyone with the thought that just a little elbow grease could bring you closer to Valakor and more in the know.
Some notable faces elected to the first Bishopric are:
>Crocodillian Musical Instrument Inventor
>Chosen Foreman of the First Church of Valakor
>Crocodillian Head Smelter of Glass
All in All, Valakor is satiated with the progress of his religion, sufficient for now at least.

Develop[2]: Valakor hand picks a Bishop, through Taragos, and orders a good mix of Chosen and Crocodilian Volunteers and "Voluntolds" to consist of the crew of the newly minted ship. The significant items they take on their voyage are musical instruments, a lot of fish and clean water. They set off rather quickly waving goodbye as they set off in the opposite direction that Tim had explored.

Heheia
The northern island feels a cold breeze, as it appears all goes quiet for a second. The innocent, childlike, Heheia of the forests goes stiff, as a pool of blood forms at the base of her feet. The sap of the trees turn to blood, as the magnificent green forests begin to wildly transform, as the trees themselves become undead. Likewise, the tets, ents, and dryad flow with blood that fills the cracks of their woodlike skin, greens fading to browns.

Altakhsas
His body sealed away, resting peacefully in his pyramid temple, unsuspecting of the corruption to come. His body infected, yet barely clinging to purity, Altakhsas remains at rest. Meanwhile, his body enough of a host for it to spread, his undead begin to transform into culminations of blood, bones, and gore.

Elyot the Unseen hastened to speed the development of his Canin as warriors.
First, there was the necessity of protecting themselves in battle.

The coverings Oblivion had worn had given Elyot an ideas for making similar armor out of Solgrass cloth. He also had capes fashioned to better conceal the warriors movements from Sight.
>Research/Develop [2] [Solgrass] Linenthorax Armor
I want cloth armor to gain minion defense bonus. The capes are mostly fluff, although I might use them more later, but I figure they can piggyback on armor development for being so simple.

Unfortunately, the soft, heavy Oltar Metal was not suitable for war, so Elyot had his Canin gather as much Vekrathril Ore from the forests as possible, in the hope that it would yield better results.
>Quarry [2] Vekrathril Ore
I want to gather as much as I can. 5 Forest Hexes worth by my count.

Having come to terms with the fact that he was not going to find allies anywhere nearby, he decided to increase his experimentation and exploration. Had two great wooden rings made by attachments with Oltar metal chevrons forged in pieces and engraved with the teleportation sigil. He had one ring constructed in the stream, just off the Eloy River. He had the second one secured in pieces aboard a fine raft.
Finally, he had four brave and clever Canin speed through the circle, activating the sigil by focusing on teleporting across the water as far west as possible.
>Divine Influence [7]
>Research/Develop [2] [Oltar Ore] Teleportation Gates
I want to experiment with teleportation. Specifically, I want to build two gates to teleport between easily. First I am sending the Canin through the gate to see how far the farthest range of teleportation can get them, by going directly west from hex 1S-25. If they go as far as 1 hex or several feet, okay. If more, I would like to stop at hex 1S-20. But it's experimental. That's why they're bringing a second gate with them.

Religon I

Feeling a certain emptyness in him, Covetous realized that the Gaping led lives void of imagination, faith, creativity. Their lives up to this point had been centered around thriving in the basics by providing plentiful foods and a safe environment, but there was a certain lack of variety that Covetous felt was almost a betrayal as if crucial aspects of life were being denied his children. He would start by giving his children spiritualism as ideas began to spin in his head of all the potential doors that could come of raising his children to new levels of awareness. With a resolution, he decided he would make it his goal to make this world a paradise for his children and create a truly happy world. The faith that he bestowed upon his children was the Doctrine Of The Root. Thus the first scriptures were created, teaching about the holy history of the history of the gaping, how they were created by the first root, and how by the will of the root, the Gaping now had a vast and bountiful forest full of nourishment. The Doctrine spread the message that the root is the source of life and that by caring for the forests and paying homage to it, you earn an eternal place in the heart of the forest where you will provide nourishment forever in eternal happiness. The Doctrine praises peace between creatures of the root and of unity and strength, taking after the positive strengths of a tree as the traits one should carry through one's life. Strength in standing, Strength in spreading. Strength in bearing fruit. Strength in stillness. Strength in patience. With this in mind, one should move forwards without doubt to spread prosperity among your fellows to seek eternal peace.

The air to the west changed again. Qazlal did not like the Witch's secrets. Just as the cave, he would not stand to have things hidden from him by this thief.

:ACTIONS:
>Develop [2]: Lenses/Telescopes
The Witch's actions needed to be watched, and distance made that difficult. Qazlal could easily watch her from afar by taking wing and rising high into the air, but he needed to be elsewhere often. The alternative solution would be to bend light itself to bring the Witch's actions closer without bringing the Witch herself with them. A dukali brought him a solution after watching the dew roll off of a leaf: if a dew drop were made large and solid, it could be used to magnify images in the distance! A large piece of crystal plucked from the air over Qazlal's home ground to make several round shapes, and those pieces placed into sequence would bring the distant into focus.

>Develop [2+DI]: Elevated telescopes
Qazlal knew from experience that the key to seeing long distances is elevation. With a telescope though, the image was not stable enough to use in manual flight. The device needed a tall, sturdy stand to position it far above the ground. Qazlal's will would see a tall building of jold with a wide base erected to hold his all-seeing eye.

>Develop [2]: Featherweight boats
If Qazlal wanted more land, his Dukali would need the ability to cross the ocean. With some work, the Dukali were able to fashion from wood a craft that would float on the surface of the water that was light enough for a single Dukali to propel with their wings.

WIth his new eye, Qazlal could see quite far indeeed! Looking into his neighbor's world, he could see no giant arm. Either Kolithe lied to him, or the Witch had "secured" her prize. He also saw two different coasts over the water, lands that had not yet seen the footfall of the Dukali. Lands that may be untouched by this "Bloodletting" entity. Qazlal wished to see more!

:ACTIONS:
>Quarry [2]: Qazmite
If he needed only small supplies of things he did not yet have, fetching small amounts was no problem. However, it was likely that he might need large stores of these things in the future. Qazlal sent his Dukali to collect one of the materials he'd asked them to experiment with prior.

>Develop [2]: Seafaring
With new toys comes new opportunities to learn! The Dukali would take their vessels onto the water and learn how to make them move. It was slower than flight, but it took less energy once they got momentum.

>Develop [2]: Fishing

Qazlal reasoned that the Dukali did not need to enter the realm of the deep to access its bounty. A barbed spear could easily pull prey from the world under the water, and the Dukali could add yet another meal to their feasts!

Develop[2]: The crocodillians look at the church, in all it's glory, as the only real building and begin to wonder about it, forming a basic understanding of the mortal workings of it's divine construction and solidifying that into their knowledge base
Construction I

Develop [2]: Valakor finishes his ruminations about the inherent insecurity and permanency of written language. He decides that it is a good idea, and permits written words in the form that his bishops will learn then teach to the masses. This is met with reluctant approval, but ultimately accepted due to my insistence
Literacy I

Develop[1] (DI): Valakor then tells Taragos of his brilliant idea, some way to transmit messages to only those intended and to ensure that it is from the intended sender.

Valakor produces a large tome, enchanted with minor secret magic. Each page has 3 columns. The first column has a large X over it, signifying the name column. The second has an open eye over it, signifying a public code. The third and final column has a red, teardrop shape above it, signifying blood.

How it works is quite simple, a person will write their full name, and add a drop of their blood to the third column, then Valakor himself will issue that person a public key, which will forever be etched onto the page, and a private key to be forever etched into the entrants mind. This creates a directory of users whose public keys are openly visible on this book with clear ties to who they belong too. There are no reissues of this token unless expressly granted by Valakor himself.

Members of Valakor's church, the Bishops and ArchBishop are required to register their names in this book, known to the general populace as The Holy Cipher. There is no fee to register, and the Holy Cipher is openly displayed in the first church, allowing any who wish to register to make a pilgrimage to the first holy ground of Valakor in order to write their names and gain access. Registering for your own key pair, further known as open key for the public and mind key for the private, is entirely optional for any non-heirarchal members.

However, secrets are now classed onto different levels. A Valakor-class secret, or Vekret (Vee-crit), is a secret so great that the public cipher of Valakor himself must be used in order to transmit the data. Generally this is used for secrets meant only for Valakor's eyes and are transmitted with the utmost care. Additionally, orders from Valakor, are generally in this class, if they require some level of secrecy.
>>
>>2604596
>>2602910

Archidents (Ark-eh-dents) are secrets of archbishop level, with similar typing to Vekrets, and Bishives (Biss-hiv) are Bishop class secrets. The last class is the most common form of encryption and is called Cytilian (Si-till-yin). Bishives are the secret that technology is most often transfered through before being decoded and reclassed in accordance to importance. An example of all four are: something like magical knowledge would be classed as a Vekret, the trick to making a musical instrument may be a low level Archident, regional crop distribution would be mundane enough to be a Bishive and a crocodillians secret recipe would be a Cytilian.

As such, most inventors must usually make the pilgrimage to the first church in order to gain their ciphers, and deliver their creations to their glorious Ascender. This gives the simple church building an even greater purpose.

The key pair, open and mind, are used accordingly, one may offer their unencoded message to their Valakor Shrine, the recipients name at the top and the sender's name at the bottom of their message. By the grace of the Secretkeeper, the message will then be encoded using the recipient's open key first, then the sender's mind key after. The message is then unencrypted with the sender's open key and the recipient's mind key.

This double authentication proves that the sender is who they say they are, and makes it so only the recipient can read it. Double encryption is required for Archidents and above, but may be used on lower class messages. Additionally, a less used way of using this system is to encrypt using a mind key, so that everyone can read your message, and know it is from you.
Encryption

Half-Develop[1]: Valakor envisions an interconnected civilization, more close knit communities allow for respectable solitude while not sacrificing functionality. Additionally the amount of pilgrims also motivates him, wanting each one to be much more safe than plodding through the swamp is. As such he issues an order, using his new encryption system to act like his seal, to construct a road across majorly developed areas, making travel a bit easier for his people

To his dismay, they instead returned to the sailbarge and exploded the coast further westward.
>Explore [2]
1S-16
I want to explore as much land to the west as possible. Not sure how many hexes are in range.

Frustrated, Elyot then occupied himself with the use of Syrconite Ore.
Now quarried, Elyot experimented with the ore, testing it's suitably for forging by casting it in the form of a new runic sigil and then, willing the magic to activate.

The Urchynn are very happy to visit the Library, this time leaving behind their knowledge of Syrconite Spears and withdrawing a copy of the wise Librarian's impressive text on the construction and operation of Lumber Mills.

[2] Develop

The Urchynn set up a Mine in the crystal mountains to dig for those wonderfully shiny, glistening Thaumite crystals.

This whitestone is much neater and cleaner to look at then the Bonerock of the Stone plains. Tigyogg decides thats he and her Urchynns will probably use rather a lot of it.

>Fluff
After Valakor's minion in the Feathered Serpents shuffled off the mortal coil, he returned to his new forever-home in the Eternal Secret along with the knowledge of all the events which transpired on the distant continent. While enlightened by the death of his minion it also greatly saddens him, something he intends to resolve personally.

With this newfound knowledge comes a creeping dread, an existential terror born of baseless paranoia born solely through the Solitude daemon's ever burgeoning world. Intense pain, something Valakor thought not possible to experience, coursed through the daemon's form as he considers the possibilities of endless juggernauts just waiting to snuff out his humble, yet zealous civilization. He cries out in intense divine pain, felt as a distrubance by all who he calls his subjects as he agonizes for what seems like days over this intensely unsettling reality unfolding before him.

Eventually, an emergency council is called in the church with many civillians present as well, all crying out in public for their first time since the inception of the daemon their love and adoration for the cloudy being. Unlike the slow creeping start of this existential nightmare, the end comes briefly like a snap as the zealous affinity Valakor's people have for him bring him out of the spiralling negativity.

Valakor, now out of his stupor looks around and what he sees fills him with immense pride and determination. He has a duty to protect his people and maintain the secrets of this world, large unknown forces be damned. And Collect secrets he will, not just for him, but for his minions as well.

Kolithe stands in the ashes of her humble home. There are so few of her people left... The desperate cry for help from magical forces had done nothing but ruin what little remained of her land.

She had had enough. Time to wash her hands of this affair.

Covetous was suddenly very concerned. His own little world had been peaceful, albeit somewhat lonely. Of the ships he had sent off into the great deeps only one had returned, the little one 'Eln' he had chosen to lead the first expedition had returned, bearing ill news and a strange adornment.

There was -MUCH- to be concerned about. Firstly, the expedition had indeed encountered new lands, and the news of a new people with it. There had been a group of insectoids encountered on the continent that exchanged information on culture after an initial confrontation. Their leader had stated that they were under attack by the forces of a 'Witch' who had slaughtered a great deal of their people and taken their land. This news was disturbing, but even more disturbing is how little they knew about the enemy or the situation. This concerned Covetous to no end, worrying about what dangers may lie beyond the blue abyss. Would this threat come to destroy his people? Was this stranger even trustworthy, had the stranger, in fact, been lying? Covetous had no way of knowing these things, but he knew it was time to prepare for the worst regardless. It was time to prepare for the journey overseas. It was time to prepare for the possibility of war.

But first, he needed to attend to matters more close to home. He had guests, at such an inopportune time. Prepare the brews.

Communicate [0]

Terraform (3) (+13 DI)
Regular Terraform the remaining southern five hex
It had been put off long enough, Covetous turned his focus to something familiar, bending the land to his will to create bountiful new homes for his children, the southern shore was now his, and with it more of the strange prickely plants and coastal access.

Develop (2)
Farming upgrade
With access to new tools, his children turned their attention to their farms. They could be improved now, made more efficient and larger. The output of food would increase drastically now, to keep everyone not just healthy, but well stocked now too.

Half-Develop (1)
Begin development on Archery

There would be a likely need for war soon if the threats from beyond came to fruition, so Covetous devised a means of ranged combat. By creating a shaft of wood ending in a Jold point, one could propel it somehow through the enemy. It was the 'somehow' though that was troubling him and the better thinkers of the Gaping. He knew if he wasn't so busy or so stressed right now he could do it, but as it was several failed prototypes had frustrated him to no end. The fact that he didn't have an answer was an unwelcome feeling to have, and he had to be careful not to misplace his emotions. Two sticks with a pull-back slot to launch the arrows- useless. A massive contraption with a weight system designed to launch projectiles great distances away. *Useless* He needed to find the right contraption to make this project work before his patience wore thin.
