Standing atop the barricade of stone and bent steel, Commander Zhao brings up an open and unsecure comm-channel onto his headset. He clears his throat, knowing his voice is broadcasting to all who may be listening."You there! Cowering within those factories! I am Commander Zhao, company leader of the Empress's Ronin and commander of all her forces upon this planet. You cannot hold what you have against us. Your puny fortress shrinks, inch by inch as we push forward. Already, hundreds upon hundreds of men are reinforcing this position, sealing your fate. You are already outnumbered. It will only grow worse with time. Give yourselves over to the mercy of our blessed and eternal Empress and find yourselves given new purpose or Remain in your holes, cowering like rats. You have ten minutes"Zhao plants his sword into the stone before him, resting a hand easily upon the hilt as he watches the surrounding structures. Militia and PDC Infantry adjust their weapons, sure that the rebels are going to storm their position in a desperate charge. Many very nearly fire as they spot movement but they manage to refrain from it as they spot a common detail to the hundred of men, women and children that stream out of the factories and warehouses. They are unarmed, hands held above their heads, wounds bandaged clumsily and heads bowed.Zhao gestures with his free hand, a slight smile upon his face behind the demons snarl of his helm. They are citizens of the Shogunate despite their crimes and they may have the chance to wash away the shame of their dishonor. Mortar fire shakes the earth as a scattered barrage lands all around the rebel Anti air, the concussive blasts gouging gaping craters into the structures and streets surrounding the target. But for the sheer volume of fire they send out, not a single shell lands close enough to damage the emplacements. Your veteran militia hang their heads in shame as jeers and insults ring out from the other soldiers, the rising howl of incoming artillery screeching across the sky as the Light Artillery battery at PDCHQ roars out once more. A plume of dust, flame and debris soars high into the sky as the barrage lands directly on target, reducing the sophisticated anti-air emplacement to little more than scraps of metal and burning fuel.Your men cheer out as PDC gunships soar in, their propellors whirling as they circle the rebel command, their heavy beam-turrets and autocannons already pounding the rebel positions. Gunfire and the odd, desperately aimed rocket can do next to nothing against the swirling swarm of death.Zhao angles his sword at the foe, a wordless cry emanating from the Ronin as your men heft their weapons over their heads, howling hate at the rebel foe.The final battle of this world is nearly done.>Rebel Militia 3&4 are holding position in cover at Rebel command>Rebel Heavy Militia 2 are holding position at Rebel command>Overwhelming numerical advantage>Air support>Artillery support>Enemy is demoralized and leaderless>Enemy is in a deteriorating defensive position>No rolls required.>WHAT DO

Zhao hefts Storms Kiss in his gauntlets fist, twirling the razor sharp blade through hissing arcs as he roars to his Ronin"Death to the traitors! For the Empress! For honor! NO PRISONERS!"The answering roar shakes the ground almost as much as the artillery barrage that smashes into the rebel fortifications."NO MERCY!"Gunships swoop and circle like hunting hawks as they unload volleys of high caliber Autogun onto the rebel defenses. Men are pulped into scraps of flesh and pink mist, concrete explodes into dust and blinding fragments. Beams of energy spear out, raking across the barricades, the surface of the stone chsrring and steaming under the intense heat. Men simply burst into flames when the strobing flashes cut across their bodies, reduced to flash-burned statues of charcoal and ash. As the rebels desperately attempt to fire at the charging Ronin, a volley of weapons fire so dense it may as well have been a solid wall strikes their formation. Men caught in the open simply evaporate into lumps of gore, others are thrown backward by the combined impact of beam fire. They are helpless, trapped, desperate.... Doomed. With a wordless cry of rage and hatred, Zhao and his Ronin are upon them. Blades carve through flesh with the ease of a razor through butter, sending limbs, heads and organs flying with each stroke. The rebels fight, run, hide and beg, it matters not. They die all the same. Zhao lashes out with Storms Kiss, sending both of a mans forearms flying, still clutching the rusted machete he had been swinging. Before the man could even begin to scream in agony, Zhao thrust his blade underneath his chin, ripping forward with such ferocity he bisected the rebels face. Throwing up a armored forearm to block the swing of a makeshift hatchet, Zhao levels his off hand towards the rebels belly. The man has a moment to realize his mistake before the blast of pure kinetic energy rips him in half at the waist. All around the Crimson and Midnight reader, blood flows in rivers as the Ronin exact a bloody toll upon each rebel they can find. Bodies are piled in heaps, blood splashing nearly ankle deep, the wounded screaming for mercy but finding none. Your Ronin scour the rebels from the earth more thoroughly than an orbital bombardment and within hours, the city is reclaimed. After the slaughter, Zhao retires to his quarters, cleansing caked gore from his armor and from his blade. Removing his helm, he sets up a terminal and begins typing out his report, the interrogation transcripts proving worrisome. >The DerelictThe Scientific Vessel "Wisdom of Curiousity" glides through the void, its engines winding down from the FTL jump into the interstellar space. Out here in the empty blackness, it is only the ship, the void... And the massive automated mining rig drifting aimlessly through the vacuum. The colossal structure drifts along like a iceberg of metal on a scale so large it boggles the mind. Rigs like this were used to harvest entire planetoids and asteroid belts, consuming them like a massive oceanborne beast and regurgitating the processed ores whenever its few crew told it to. Massive rents and gaping tears in the metallic hide of the leviathan, like the battle scars of a giant.Dr.Hyza sits at a terminal, her slender fingers scrolling along a manufacturers report on the rig in question. Her eyes, a faint blue glow emanating from within each, narrow as she sips from her sixth, lukewarm cup of Hyper-Caff today. "Minimum crew capacity, maybe two hundred organic crew? With that level of damage its unlikely that atmosphere has been retained. A full automated drone production unit... Mining and maintenance... Security protocols? Full integrated security grid in crew and valuable material storage... Could be an issue"Dr.Hyza pauses in her musing as a subtle chime emanates from her door. She idly looks up from her terminal as one of her customized servants enters the room. Its smooth, bone white carapace covers delicate innards, a rounded, cyclopean head swiveling to fix on her. Massive arms, each concealing a plethora of assorted weapons, end in rounded manipulators with the strength to rip open bulkheads. FXR-1 speaks in a soft, heavily modulated voice"Mistress Hyza. Captain Keiro and Commander Lho wish to speak with you. We are approaching sensor range of the derelict. "Let them in FXR, we'll just have to hope that they dont break anything don't we?"She sighs, closing the terminal and standing up from her terminal. She brushes the crumbs from her desk, grabbing a quartet of half empty cups of ice cold Hyper-Caff, she drops them into a recycler after sniffing their contents and wincing. FXR-1 stands as still as a ivory statue as his counterpart invites in the men waiting at the door. With the whooshing hiss of pressurized air, the doors slide open, revealing the chaos of Dr.Hyza's workshop/office/sleeping quarters. Half completed robots hang from racks and frames, their innards pulled free like they were attacked by mechanical scavengers. Partially dissasmbeled beam weapons are piled in the corner, their emmiters and power cores ripped away like the hearts of sacrifices. A nest of books, data-slates, half eaten food and blankets is piled in the far corner, a veritable army of Hyper-Caff cups around it. Hyza smooths her crumpled uniform, sitting professionally at her desk as the pair enter, followed closely by the hulking FXR-2. Captain Keiro is a stocky, mustachioed man, his hair turning gray from stress and age. His captains uniform is clean and respectably decorated with medals and commendations. He takes in the mess calmly, being used to Hyza's eccentricity. Commander Lho remains impassive, his blank faced helm tucked under his arm, the cords in his neck standing out as he swivels his bald head, regarding the chaos with the shock of a man used to strict, iron hard control over everything in his life.Keiro clears his throat, his arms folded behind his back"Dr.Hyza. Thank you for meeting with us. I presume you have been going over the schematics of the Derelict? Commander Lho here assures me that you will be perfectly safe with his men accompanying you. Are you sure you do not wish a detachment of our security team to accompany you?"Lho scoffs, crossing his thick arms across his armored chest and looking down on the smaller man."Ive already told you. Whatever scum crawls on that hulk, my men and I will cut through them. Your men would be better suited preparing the ship and loading anything of interest into the cargo hold. Your 'security team' are barely trained peasants. They will simply get in the way">Ill take the Security Team along>They'll be better off protecting the ship and loading any salvage>Other

Dr.Hyza brushes her hair back over her ear, regarding the pair of men as she considers the various benefits their suggestions provide. If she elects to bring along the secirury detail, that's a group of nearly a hundred and fifty armed men, nothing ti sneeze at by any account. However, their group will move more slowly and may attract the attention of anything inside the hulking derelict. If she goes without the Security team, they could secure the landing site, loading salvage and samples into the holds and keeping the ship ready to go on a moments notice. They will also be able to defend the ship against any residents of the massive mining rig.Dr.Hyza steeples her fingers, regarding the men as she thinks. Finally she clears her throat, waving a grease stained hand towards the Captain."Ive got another solution. Ill bring along a boosted comm-unit and hook it up to FXR's power core. If I *need* your men, ill contact you."Captain Keiro nods, accepting the compromise pleasantly enough. Lho snorts, a faint sneer going across his face as he does. The towering Ronin strides forward, not noticing or caring about the FXR's sudden and sharp attention. The commander pulls a folding data-slate from his armor."If you insist on those half-trained peasants being involved, I suppose I will have to endure it. Now, there are several areas we can bring this..."He looks around pointedly, grimacing slightly"Ship.. In to dock. Ive highlighted them on a projection of the Rig"Dr. Hyza leans over the projection, scrolling along it with a single slim finger. For such a unpleasantly blunt man, he has good tactical sense it seems.>through one of the gaping tears in the hull. The crew compartments and storage will be easily accessed. Perhaps you can find out what happened.>Through the main "Maw" of the ship. The processing mouthparts of the vessel are home to Drone production and the refinery.>Through the vast and cold engine vents. Dr.Hyza brings up the schematics of the Derelict, zooming in onto the highlighted rent in the massive vessels armor. While not critically damaging to the vessels overall function, prelimnary scans reveal that the savage tears penetrated the crew compartments, venting atmosphere into the void. Unless the automatic safety measures kicked in and sealed the bulkheadss to damaged sections, its likely there were no survivors of the incident. Dr.Hyza taps on the highlighted section, nodding as she glances towards Commander Lho."We will make our way into the mining rig here, as per your suggestions Commander. Captain? Bring us in and see if you can find a suitable docking point. Full vacuum protocols, mag-boots and Void-suits. Even if the rig is large enough to have its small gravity well, we still must treat it as any other derelict ship."Both men bow their heads slightly, turning to leave, they quickly make their way to their respective offices, orders already flying to their subordinates. Dr.Hyza sighs, running a hand over a collection of sophisticated tools. With a small smile, she turns towards the FXR twins. There is always room for improvement...>Mission Loadout>Ripper-The FXR's are loaded down with heavier armor, a multitude of cutting blades and enhanced polymer muscle bundles. >BastionThe Wisdom of Curiosity glides through the void on pulsing engines, mircrothrusters making minute adjustments to course and angle of approach as the vessel slips inside the massive rents in the Derelict hull. Like a parasite through the gills of some great sea-beast, the smaller ship coasts between spires of jagged metal the size of tower-blocks. Dust and debris float aimlessly in the vacuum as the descent continues, personal effects and scraps of metal alike sparking aimlessly from the shields. Like the bow-lights of a submersible, the ships scanners and lights reveal the extent of the damage. The double walled hull is scored all the way through, a trio of truly titanic gashes gouging all the way through into the innards of the leviathan. At its deepest point, bunks, stairwells and even a mess hall can be clearly seen. Captain Keiro wipes sweat from his brow as his navigation officer deftly brings them as close to the docking point as possible. Metal squeals against the ships hull as a thin spire scrapes against it, gouging a shining line. Captain Keiro is tempted to curse but instead cracks a smile, choosing instead to joke"I told you not to scratch the paint Najia! This boat is new!"He forces a nervous chuckle as the Wisdom of Curiousity finally comes to rest against a relatively flat and undamaged bulkhead scans indicate opens onto a corridor. The boarding umbilical extends, the magnetic ring at its tip locking onto the bulkhead and spinning like a drill bit as concentrated scalpels of cohered energy burn through the thick slab of alloy. The vault door sized circle falls inwards, its edges glowing like fresh forged steel.Dr.Hyza steps out of the lift, her FXR's flanking her like cyclopean giants. Their bone white armor plating has nearly doubled in thickness, smooth and shining dully under the lights. Each of their opposite forearms bristling with rotary beam turrets, the off hand brandishing a thick, angled shield, the edges honed down to a rounded edge. The doctor herself is dressed competently in thin, overlapping plates of silvered alloy armor. A long barreled pistol sits at her hip, the streamlined power core shining slightly with cold white energy. An intricate, multi-paneled vacuum helmet sits at her throat, waiting to expand upwards in the event of vacuum exposure.>Cont

Concealed in the forearm of her armor, on a coiled spring of aritifical muscle, a diamond hard blade sits waiting ti spring free. Like arcane runes, lines of circuitry weave along the blade, waiting to impart corrupting code or carve through flesh. She strides calmly down the corridor, her synthetic bodyguards like moving statues of ivory and steel. She approaches Commander Lho, the towering Ronin addressing his men in blunt, curt tones. Commander Lho is garbed for battle in the void, his armor sealed tight against atmospheric changes. His boots whine as they adhere him to the floor with magnetic force, the force negligible to the enhanced strength of the Ronin. Across his back is slung a heavy, two handed blade, the square-bladed chopping sword seeming more the weapon of a butcher than a noble warrior of the empress. He looks sidelong towards Dr.Hyza, nodding slightly as he dismisses his men, the gathered ranks of near three hundred Ronin preparing to board the Derelict. His blank faced helm, the facemask polished to a mirrorlike sheen, imparts a hollow bass vibration to his voice as he speaks."Doctor. How good of you to join us. I suppose these toys of yours will be joining us? If you insist. My men are more than capable of ensuring your safety"Dr.Hyza opens her mouth to defend her beloved creations when suddenly FXR-1 cuts in."We have defended Mistress Hyza for far longer than you have or will. With our first act and our last, we have kept her safe from harm. She is our charge. You merely accompany us"Hyza smiles slightly, even she forgets sometimes that the FXR's are less than human but more than any other machine. The closest thing to an actual AI she is allowed to create resides within the data cores of each of the cyclopean twins. Commander Lho snorts, shaking his head bullishly."Insolent doll. No matter. If we need reinforcements or to make a quick exit, ill make sure to contact you."Dr. Hyza strides smoothly through the center of the Ronin, the power armored warriors stepping respectfully out of the way as she does. Tapping a ginger to the comm-bead surgically implanted under her ear, she speaks subvocalises a request to Sikora, a sensor operator who owes her several hundred credits and quite a few favors."Sikora? Search for any active biosignatures, thermal anomalies, power emissions and anything on the EM/IR spectrum. Lho, leading from the front as always reports nack, clipped tones masking any emotion in his voice."Clear"Behind Dr.Hyza march nearly three hundred Ronin, accompanied by another hundred and fifty security crew. Stepping through the still faintly glowing entrance of the breach, Dr.Hyza's helm flicks up and over her head, sealing tight against the extremely thin atmospheric pressure. This section of the derelict isn't entirely voided yet but nothing living could survive on air this thin. Helmet, forearm and chest mounted flashlights flicker on, illuminating the inky darkness of the corridor. "By the Empress"Breathes Dr.Hyza, swallowing heavily as she turns to take in the area. Even flash frozen, dried and probably years old, nothing except gallons of human blood could create the thick smears and splashes of rusty brown along the walls, floor and ceiling. But for all the blood and scraps of freeze dried flesh littering the floor and plastered to the walls, not a single corpse can be found. Commander Lho sniffs, running a gauntleted hand along the wall, the thickly splattered gore crumbling at his touch. He turns his head, glancing at Hyza."This wasn't caused by decompression or any accident. This was caused by something very strong with a very sharp blade. This spatter here? The crew, they were being pursued. Hunted by something...."He kneels, shining his light across the floor, illuminating a patch of clear floor, the bare metal marked by a footprint in gore. His men regard the walls and floor nervously, their transparent void-helms showing parking faces and nervous eyes.Commander Lho rolls his wrist, the power cells in his pulse rifle whining as the charge cycles."Ive no idea. Their beam cannons hum readily, coils of energy wiping from their charging elements, the cold blue glow illuminating their armor with cold light."Yes Commander, we should spend as little time as possible in this derelict. At regular intervals the bulkheads are marked by sliding doors leading into darkened sleeping and living quarters the size of a large bedroom. Some of the doors are sealed tightly, the doors locked from within. Others stand open, their interiors either untouched or thrown about chaotically in a charnel house of flash-frozen gore and bodily fluids. But not a single corpse is found.Through several intersections and dozens of rooms, through a abandoned mess hall and the remnants of what seems to be a crude defensive barricade streaked with puddles and splashes of rusty brown, weapons fire dotting the walls. Past empty rec-rooms with outdated entertainment systems scattered about and a dense splatter of gore in the corner extending towards the ceiling, not a single corpse has been found. Dr.Hyza pauses by a rent in the bulkhead, obviously having been made by a crude plasma projector. She follows the estimated trajectory towards a spray of arterial gore so dense it resembles a coat of rusted brown paint. "Whatever happened aboard this vessel, happened *before* it was depressurized. These men were dead long before this ship sustained the damage to the hull."Commander Lho grunts, shining his light along the walls and floor. "No single foe could have done this. That barricade back there? Probably manned by at least twenty men. Armed even with solid projectiles and crude beam weaponry, they should be been able to repel a single attacker. Instead, they were ripped apart... The foe was on them... Among them, before they could even respond"FXR-2 swivels its head about, taking in every detail as it does. The hulking synthetic warrior is nearly unnerved by the fact that it cannot think how to counter a foe that seems fast enough to dodge gunfire. FXR-1 interjects onto its siblings thoughts, If they replace the air around a target with weapons fire, it can't very well dodge that now can it?Dr.Hyza kneels next to the control surface for the lift, FXR-1 wordlessly kneeling and offering his power core as a jump start for the emergency power to the lift. Running silvery gray cables from the ivory warriors spinal column and into the relays for the lift, Hyza hums to herself as she splices together the leads.>Roll me 1d100 to see if the lift is powered on.

>66. Emergency power restored!FXR-1's power cell whines as it cranks out a slight surplus of power" feeding life back into the drained capacitors of the emergency power system. Along the corridor, dull, ruddy red light shines faintly as the emergency lightning kicks on. FXR-1 continues to crank power into the elevator, its power readout rising from simply "CRITICAL" to "VERY LOW".enough for a single single descent and return.Dr.Hyza smiles happily, patting FXR-1 on the shoulder-plate as she disconnects the power leads, the cables automatically spooling back into the goliaths spine. She stands, brushing imaginary dust from her armor as the doors to the lift grind open slowly, the interior lit by demonic red light."Commander, the lift is rather small, myself, the Twins and five of your men are all that will fit I believe"Commandee Lho nods, gesturing to his men."You four. On me. The rest of you, hold this corridor, establish a perimeter, teams of five, regular check ins."Before the commander has even finished his order, the Ronin are splitting up into squads, peeling off from the main column and securing the area.A appreciation of direct and complete obedience in any form, Hyza raises an eyebrow, impressed as she steps into the lift. With the pair of towering combat robots, the five Ronin and herself, it is rather cramped but she abides the discomfort as the lift doors close. A pair of cheaply made speakers built into the ceiling crackles out a overly cheerly jingle as the lift descends. The silent fury emanating from Lho at the repeating tune makes it obvious he desires nothing more than to murder the writer of that jingle and their entire bloodline. Finally, after two floors, the lift comes to a halt, the doors dinging slightly before grinding open slowly, revealing pure inky darkness, the beams of their lights carving through the darkness like daggers. The blood spatter here is rare and sparse, droplets along the floor, drag marks, the odd rusty brown palm print on the wall. The corridor is long and dark as the exploration team slowly makes their way along, each branching intersection leading off into more infinite darkness. The blood trail leads first left, then right, then left again, finally coming to rest at a large door to what seems to be a small workshop. The heavy door, once obviously welded shut with several layers of reinforcing struts, is folded inwards like it was made of putty. The pulsing signal lies somewhere in that room.>Cont
>>2595086>ContLho steps in front of Dr.Hyza, a single thick arm thrown outwards. The Twins start before accepting that the gesture is meant to protect their mistress. A nod and a twitch of his hand and a pair of his Ronin approach the gaping rent in the door. Weapons fire pockmarks the interior of the metal, great gouges carved in it like the ripping claws of some brutal beast. The Ronin shine their lights into the breach, their pulse rifles leveled into the stygian darkness. After a moments concentration, they report back with professional efficiency."Rooms clear of hostiles. Looks like the weapons were set up to fire on a motion sensor, blind firing on full auto. Dried blood but not as much as the the corridor.""Very well then. Doctor Hyza, do whatever it is you are intending to do so we may leave this place"Lho straightens, freeing Dr.Hyza from his protective barrier and allowing the doctor forward. The pair of Ronin he had sent forward bow as they step backward, allowing the doctor and the ivory twins to make their way through the gap first, the metal having been ripped almost as wide as the doors fully open state. Dr.Hyza flicks on a multitude of armor mounted light emitters and inspects the interior of the storage space."Now isn't this interesting..."She says to herself, picking up the shattered and bent remains of a small caliber bolt pistol. Several other firearms ranging from a modified rivet gun to a high powered kinetic pistol are bolted and secured to nearby storage crates, the ceiling and floor, all aimed towards the door.Inside the one time bunker, the devastation is more subdued than one would think, seemingly focused in one direction. The bolted down weapons are connected to cables, the cords leading back through the storage area, along the path of damage, storage crates pushed out of the way or smashed apart like eggshells. Following the path of least resistance, Dr.Hyza makes her way towards the back of the storage space, the crunch of Lho's boots on spent ammunition cases carrying through the atmosphere. The cords and cable lead her nearly a hundred meters through the storage room, her guardians flanking her at every step. She looks over the nap, the flashing beacon growing closer and closer with every step. Finally, she crests a small barricade of crates and stops in her tracks. Before her is the rear corner of the storage room, the small space having been turned into a makeshift field hospital and last ditch holdout. Surprisingly, there is none of the gruesome blood spatter of the corridors and the barricade three levels above, only a pair of rusted brown pools, a single spray of tissue and gore on the wall. A dim, blinking red light catches Hyza's eye, a outdated data slate shoved partially underneath a bloodied blanket against the wall. >Cont
>>2595662>ContCrouching down, Hyza pulls the slightly bloodstained data slate from its resting place, the marks of blood slick fingers clearly visible on the dull black polymer of its case. His dark blue jumpsuit is ripped and torn, small burns in the fabric evidence of desperately fast welding. Groans of pain issue out somewhere nearby, a womans voice weakly asking for water. Special forces are more for surgical operations or stealth, which isn't something we have access to when we're exploring something like a Space Hulk from Warhammer 40k. Heavy infantry like Ronin are best for that reason. However, the reason I was thinking of Volunteer Militia was to use them either as scouts, defenses, or salvaging, which militia would excel at in contrast to dedicated combat units. Captain Keiro swallows heavily, the security crew around him muttering, their voices rising to a panicked roar before he draws his beam pistol, slamming his foot down against the cold metal of the floor."QUIET!!! We have hostile contact! Weapons free! You see something that isn't one of us, the Ronin or Dr. Hyza, you light it up! You! Get on comms with the technical crew. Security officers dash into the boarding umbilical, returning minutes later with crates of spare power cores, demolition charges, boxes of grenades and the odd barrel of liquid fuel. Setting up lights and field barricades, Captain Keiro's security crew turn the crossroads of the corridor into a veritable fortress. Each and every bulkhead is sealed with the exception of the one Dr Hyza and the Ronin left through. Crates of improvised explosives and rigged grenades decorate the interior of the bulkheads, each one watched carefully by at least one squad of security.Captain Keiro stands behind the barricade, twenty meters from the single open bulkhead, a short barreled clutched to his shoulder, nearly sixty men crouching behind the folding barricades along with him. With the crackle of static, Dr.Hyza's voice comes through the comm-unit, stuttering through into his earpiece."C--ain? ToSo the enemy has short-range teleportation and it requires either close-range weapons, or very fast weapons to hit it before they can teleport. Seemingly they can't or don't teleport when in near-melee range, perhaps to attack. Attacking seems to be one of their vulnerable moments. Otherwise, it could not be blinking but flash-stepping, and they’re just so fast that it seems like short-range teleportation. I’m not sure which is more likely, given they don’t blink when they attack, they have simple movements when they do, and they don’t charge. I guess it’s short-range teleportation? >>2602730>>1. Surprising them would be enough to kill them. Otherwise, it could be because the traps activated when they attacked that they were prevented from blinking.Physical barricades are at least enough to force them to destroy them, meaning they can’t blink past them. >>2602837>If it is then we might need to keep our computers and FXRs well away from them. Not that kind of tech-plague. I mean the kind that turns skin to steel and brain to BIOS.I think they might've been infected with some sort of nano-machine mimicking a conventional virus, causing aggression and spreading by biting / fluid transfer, enhanced by the ability to revitalise dead flesh and change organic material into non-organic bionic improvements. If I am right, an EMP or significant electrical discharge would be effective in eliminating them.I have only one question which I think reinforces my point, have we seen any bodies in the entire time we've been in this ship? I looked over the last few posts and not a single body. Blood stains, bullet holes and rends from claws all over the ship but not a single body. All we've seen is the occasional spray of flesh and blood.
>>2602735>Keiro curses, backing towards the second row of defensive barricades, the fullisade of weapons fire seeming to hold the beasts back.Oh yeah. >>2602889>I don't know how the infection takes hold though. Does a person need to be alive then turn, a person killed by another after being infected is viable, or if any corpse can be repurposed?I get the feeling they can make use of anything that is mostly intact. Given the gore was left but the bodies were taken and the injuries they are inflicting hardly suggest the concern is the person being alive. It's a real shame we don't have some flame throwers or more explosives (do we?) to either burn them back or to blast them while they are feasting.

Grenades arc out from behind cover, the spheres of high explosive ticking down before erupting in showers of shrapnel and concussive force. Flesh and cybernetic muscle alike shred under the detonations, greasy black blood splashing the walls, sending the enraged horrors flailing at the devastating wounds in their flesh.More and more security crew hunker behind the barricade, leveling their weapons at the pack of undead crewmen. Glowing eyes narrow in rage and hunger as they crouch, limbs bent, like predators looking for a chance to pounce. Immediately, every light on the grenade sized object switches to a flashing red. The crewman hesitates for a moment in shock before another security officer smacks him across the head, grabbing the power core and lobbing it moments before it overloads.Over the front row of the barricades, over the carnage of the initial defense and directly into the midst of the creatures, the power core bounces, flashing erratically before detonating in a crackling sphere of energy. It has been a long trek through miles of maintenance corridors and freight lifts on the way to the refinery. Ever since the frenzied, garbled message from Captain Keiro, the Ronin commander had been on edge. He can feel something moving in the dark, just beyond sight.
