Oh dear, you've become a slime! You were a nice and happy, proper young lady attending a prestigious magic academy, but after a terrible accident your body has been reduced to a gooey mass of jelly! Your diet now consists of whatever you can dissolve upon contact with the slime that comprises you, and who could look upon you with anything but disgust and disdain? However, there's lots of perks to being made of slime!Like, uh... well you don't have to worry about getting sick anymore because as far as you can tell, slimes can't catch a cold! And as well, you can control the distribution of slime through your "body" so you don't have to worry about overeating or keeping to a diet. That's right, you won't let this beat you, you won't let your life be ruined just because you turned into jello.
You are Slimy Sadie! Since having been turned into living jam, you've come to reside in a village of goblins and outcasts, serving as a local healer (due to positive effects of your slime) and occasionally helping out where need. Plus, the periodic visit to the magical academy you had once been a student at and where the accident occurred, in order to visit friends and loved ones as well as take any sort of work you can from what might be available. At present, you arrived last night and met with your usual suspect of friends and such, getting the pleasantries and formalities out of the way before getting some sleep. Now though, come morning you've got a full day ahead to do what you need to while here or simply as you please, before heading back to your home in the village. As usual, a room afforded to you in the academy menagerie with all the other dangerous and exotic animals, but you're free to go where or see who you want to, for the most part. Maribelle, the staff member in charge of this wing of the school is certainly there, tending to the morning duties and needs of the other animals.>How do you proceed?
>>2592671A continuation from the previous threads, everything you need to know? You're a slime lady trying to better understand your new slimy self, and make a place for yourself in a renaissance-esque fantasy world now! And here is a pastebin with all the information relevant to yourself, Slimy Sadie, and your improvements to yourself overtime;https://pastebin.com/cSCXgXBT
>>2592671Well, since we're already here, check in with maribelle. Ask how things are here, and how her dragon is.After that go collect our adventurin' pay. gotta get PAID.
>>2592752>>2592752Dran, her dragon, is present and you can talk to him directly. Though he seems interested mostly in what your pet elephant tastes like. Maribelle in the meanwhile however, is enthusiastic as ever."Good morning Mari, how are things?""Oh wonderful, just wonderful! With your help from clearing out the abandoned enclosures here, the upper staff have placed a greater importance on this wing of the academy so I'll get more... uh, support I guess? Maybe even funding!"She's of course still interested in obtaining your elephant first and foremost but now there's a lot more busyness to keep her mind to different things. In particular the yeti enclosure, the only one remaining out of her control, but otherwise the menagerie itself is looking on the up and up thanks to your help.Which reminds you, why not stop by the archives if you're getting duties out of the way, to collect your pay? So off along the hallways you shlorp and glorp till you enter into what small portion fo the archive is open to visitors to find Louis (the elf in charge) tangling with a book which seems to have eaten his hands. "Ah, Saley! Didn't expect to see you back so soon! Supremo work with the time rift though, you handled it better than anyone could have expected. I'm sure it'll be closed up before long, but you were given the approval to collect the full reward for going above and beyond!"Well well, no small thanks indeed! A payment of 1500 gold, an immense amount by any standards though that only serves to indicate how dire of a situation the time rift proved to be and how much the academy recognizes so. Well at least you didn't lose money from the endeavor, much the opposite. Louis is curious if you found anything actually through the time rift itself, but considering how he seems occupied, he wouldn't begrudge you departing for other business to take care of.>How do you proceed?
>>2592807Oh, we didn't go through the rift. Didn't want it expanding, you know?Apparently there were troops from a few centuries back though. Feel free to fill him in about it, and how you met one of them. After that, we've got to distribute a couple goosticks to the infirmary for testing and observation. And catch up with the girls there. And that's all our actual BUSINESS here. The rest of it is hanging out with friends as we can during their day off.
>>2592827Pretty much this.Oh, do we still want to send that letter? I'm still for it personally.
>>2592918shit, yes, yes we do.
>>2592827>>2592918Well you have more restraint than he would have, and at least you didn't destroy the timeline with any meddling. Again, more handling of the problem far beyond what anyone would have expected of you since the basic purpose of the job was merely to scout the problem out. After thanking him for the time and the reward though, you steal off to the infirmary to test your latest hypothesis; slimy healing sticks and bandages! You're not sure how much use they will get out of them, but why not offer some anyway just in case? It's also a chance to catch up with the resident infirmary workers and even volunteers, students and staff. They're more than familiar with you by now given your visits and of course the condition of your accident and present self. But along with being glad to see you again, they're wholly ecstatic over your efforts towards becoming a healer in your own right. Always gratifying to see someone they help, in turn go on to help others and give the best gift of all, wellness. You can of course spend as much time here as you care to, but there are you close friends too. You did get the chance to meet and greet everyone last night as well but you're always looking forward to spending more time of course... though, you do also consider the matter of that letter you wrote, the honest truth about what happened to Sadie to be sent to her family. A distressing matter for sure but one you feel maybe should be known.>How do you proceed?
>>2592944I think we should get it sent off and see what fate does. They deserve to know, if they care to check. And it'll finally be off our shoulders.
>>2592944...I mean.Explain our discovery, and intention to test our healing slime. Ask if anyone there is willing to try it out.And write that letter, making sure to keep from being specifically detailed. Reposting:"Dear ____ and _____,I'm writing this because you've been told your daughter, Sadie, died recently. This is mostly true. But there's a little more to the story than you know. It's not a situation that requires or justifies vengeance, I can promise you...but it's also not something that's good to speak about over letters. If you don't want to worry yourself any more over her; if you've said your goodbyes and made peace as best as you can- then simply don't reply to this letter, and know that she indeed loved you both very much.If you want the epilogue to her life's tale...then come and visit the goblin village of (wherever we are)...and ask for the local healer."
>>2592975lol that just sounds like a confession about a secret life with a goblin lover. But, if you want to have that letter sent off, then you surely can. Maybe not from the academy itself though? Unless you specifically want that.Otherwise, for healing supplies from you, make a roll to see if anyone is brave enough. The usual d100.
Rolled 31 (1d100)>>2592997Alright. I don't think it sounds any kind of love based though. We're specifically saying that yeah she's dead, but there's more to the story. If they want to figure it out, then show up. If they're good not knowing, then don't worry about it.
Rolled 58 (1d100)>>2592997Who would have better post than the academy?Legit question, I really don't know.
>>2593007Well less the quality and rather if you want it sent from this place, as such an official sort of letter rather than a personal one. The former makes it even seem like the academy is involved or in on whatever it is, the latter seems more like it's just from some strange about the subject.>>2593002>>2593007>58Well, it seems the resident workers are at least willing, so it will just come down to who is brave enough to try what you leave here, something that you'll need to return at a later time to check up on and gauge the success of.In any case you can thank them for the time and the chance, before departing back to your room at the menagerie to drop off what you've collected, and then it's up to you where next after that. With the infirmary visited, well there's little else official to dedicate yourself to here and it's still only late morning so plenty of time still in the day to spend as you wish.>How do you proceed?
>>2593024All right, time to hang out with friends.Go see how our gal pals are doing. Anything exciting going on here?We can fritter away a fair chunk of time with them, and catch up. How are their studies faring? We're making big progress.
>>2593033Second. Can't really think of anything else major to do aside from the letter. This is mostly just a good trip to speak to our old friends and see if there's anything interesting happening. Basically fishing for gossip or news.
>>2593106>>2593033>gossip or newsWell well, make another roll why not, you never know what could turn up...
Rolled 34 (1d100)>>2593112Also, maybe one day we can get our drow and necromancer friends to talk. I remember she really liked spooky things.
Rolled 41 (1d100)>>2593112
Also nice to see this up again
Rolled 99 (1d100)>>2593112Bip.
>>2593136Big boy roll coming through
>>2593136>>2593128>>2593118>99Gathering your various friends to one place is a bit of a challenge because of competing schedules, however you do manage to share a good while with Nyxa and Julie, your drow and human friends respectively. Over the course of lunch and well after, you catch up and hear how things are going not to mention get into your own situation at their curiosity. In particular though, Nyxa has a particularly notable bit of information."No, not much slime trouble since after an orc ninja attacked me... or well, sort of me.""Oh right, that reminds me. You know I was talking with Gurda, and it came up about her family... you remember when her father staged an attack of this place? After all the trouble he's kept to himself, but she said he's also been busy with some slime he found? Something like that? It seems a bit much to be a coincidence..."Maybe a lead on where the orcish ninja got off to after attacking Adriana, your clone? You hadn't heard of the local orc tribe in a long while but this doesn't seem like good news at all. Hopefully it's just a rumor at that.On a lighter note, you bring up the topic of Narrion as well and a potential meeting between her and Nyxa. The drow seems interested at least, but it seems she's mistaking the situation as much as you mistake Narrion as a "friend" rather than just someone who's sort of indebted to you and you enable to live. Elsewise, by the time Julie has to get going at least it's already well after noon. Nyxa is fine to stay, but there's also those you didn't get too meet with since last night.>How do you proceed?
>>2593176Uh oh. We gotta rescue a slime once we get back.Have we talked to our half troll friend at all? Don't want to cut her out.Though, once we've properly and adequately socialized, it's time to go hang out with carter. Possibly for one on one time, but who knows what he's up to right now.
>>2593189oh, and can we get more information on where exactly the orc dad is?Gotta be able to get that slime back. Preferably without killing the orc dad.
Gotta be prepared before we rescue that slime. They might have been waiting for us and could have some kind of antislime trap setup. They've had it for a while after all and could have done tons of experiments.
>>2593205For sure.Though we could get lucky and they just had a containment breach and are now in need of slime specialists.
>>2593176>>2593189Basically all of this. And WRITE THE LETTER.
>>2593225I think we wrote it, we just gots ta send it. but yes.
>>2593225The letter is already written it's just a choice of whether to send it or not.>>2593189>>2593192>>2593205Every one of your close contacts you've met with either today or last night, Sophie included. She just wasn't present at the moment but you can seek her out of course. As for the orcs themselves, according to Nyxa she heard the largest portion of the local tribe was staying to the north for the season, not too far either. You consider following up on this matter, later, but you suppose it shouldn't be hard at all to locate said orcs as long as you have a general heading. Even during the attack, groups of them were wandering about the immediate countryside. Considering how long they may have had this other slime though, you'll obviously have to be careful, more than you would have otherwise.>How do you proceed then, for the rest of the afternoon and evening that you have?
>>2593238Well, we've hung out with all our friends but our boyfriend. Let's change that. See if carter learned any new sword tricks, tell him about the alien with the super gun. He might be interested. Also send the letter.
>>2593246Slightly scared he might try to take on the alien, but it sounds like a plan!
>>2593255don't take on the alien, carter.Just informing you of alien weapon tech, in case we want to go full ewok on them later.
>>2593246>>2593255>>2593267Well you figure to go looking for Carter but he finds you instead, surprising you with as much a heartfelt and intimate greeting as last night, never seeming to mind your being made of slime and making you feel just as loved as always. Things were a bit more emotional last night though given how you hadn't visited the academy in near two weeks so there was a lot to explain and catch up on. Now though you can spend a pleasant evening together, just talking about whatever you want to rather than need. In particular you bring up the matter of the downed metal craft and the dangerous inhabitant. On the offset Carter wasn't so interested in interacting with the being, but after hearing how it nearly killed you more than once, now he's all offended for your sake and eager to avenge your honor. Only by your greatest insistence and pleading, and assuring him that it's not a problem anymore, does he agree not to go gallivanting off for a fight. And even then you're not really sure, to say nothing of the monster hunter whom he's dead-set on burying if he gets the chance. For the most part otherwise though, it's pleasant enough. His understanding of your living conditions though warrant much eagerness for his want to, again, simply quit the schooling here and take to life with you as should be. Well there's that to ponder, as well as anything else you may be keen on talking with him. Which, you can specify when we continue next time, as this will likely be my last post of the night. Thanks all for playing!
>>2593326Have a nice night, QM. A pleasure to read as always.
>>2593326Night dude, thanks for runnning. And don't worry carter, it didn't almost kill us. It killed our slime shields. That's what they're for!And the monster hunter, well, we'll see. He might be gone by now, for all we know.
Hey guys, sorry for the late start. Will probably be a shorter run this time but will continue in a bit anyway.
>>2595828You do as you need to dude
>>2595884I NEED TO RUN.>>2593337What a lovely evening it is then, together with Carter, that you wish it wouldn't end but lose track of time. Eventually Maribelle returns surprised to find the two of you still there, and informing you that it is quite late. Well you suppose you have to get back at some point despite Carter's various creative ideas for you to remain, but how long would you tarry? Would that you could, you'd stick around forever but there's always the worry of overstaying your welcome since you are no longer a student of this establishment but a guest.>How do you proceed?
>>2596012Ah, the hard sting of long distance relationships. If it's the end of our weekend stay, then canoodle with carter just a bit more in that way insufferable couples do, then prep for travel. We've got the location of those orcs, we should go back and inform the other sadie of our findings. Then ask narrion what kind of signal she gets on her skeletons. Can we observe and command them from a good distance?
>>2596032You can be as insufferable together as a noble cavalier and slime queen can be, before giving your pained goodbyes and the longing that follows. Maribelle says not to worry, as always there's next weekend! Also again, she's keen on getting your elephant.Otherwise though you can gather your belongings and those new gained from your short stay here before departure. If you make a trek of it you can reach the village by morning probably, else you want to stop along the way?
>>2596093Don't worry maribelle, soon as we get slimes strong enough to pull carts, you can have 'im. In fact, we should try that soon. And we've got to stop to pick up those bones. We're good on our word, after all. Put them in the bone sack.
>>2596118Pretty much this.
>>2596194>>2596118Maybe travel over to the burned out house then, collect the bones and remain there for the night? Otherwise you'll be traveling even more than all night.Make a roll just in case.
Rolled 26 (1d100)>>2596236
Rolled 89 (1d100)>>2596236we'll have to stop if it gets too dark. Can't see shit.
>>2596253>>2596243>89Well it's already late by the time you're leaving, no thanks to Carter. But you can at least reach the burned down house without trouble, to find the mass of bones in the cellar and collect them up before going to sleep for what's left of the night, or late morning rather. Thankfully it's not as though you need to really sleep that much at all so you can be up just as early as you like, really it's just for Domra's sake that you let him rest the night.Come morning though, you can depart from here back home and face no trouble along the way. You figure by now, most sources of risk would wisely avoid the sight of an elephant traipsing about, and you're not even keeping to the main roads. The familiar sight of the treeline to the denser portion of the western forest in this region, and not so very long after that the familiar sounds of the outcast village. You can reach your home itself by about midday, to pen Domra and wade through the small crowd of goblins waiting outside for Adriana to heal them, and whom are very welcoming as always to you upon arrival."There you are, how were things?" your slime clone asks aloud, treating some leg-injured goblin worker, obviously speaking of your stay at the academy. You could catch up but you also have other business to see to, not to mention this large bag of bones to drop off.>How do you proceed?
>>2596289Oh, they went great. Our friends are doing well. Maribelle still wants that elephant though. Gotta figure out some kind of replacement.Oh, and guess what? The orks haven't been attacking lately because they've been busy "dealing with some slime". Sounds like something we should look into. Uh, where's Narrion? I have a bag for her.
>>2596295Narrion, at least according to Adriana, is off on her own as usual. Probably exploring around looking for things to befoul knowing her. Chances are you can expect her back before long, though you may well go looking for her too. Can't be that hard to locate a human around these parts.Otherwise, Adriana is glad at least to hear things went well, though she has obvious concern about the orcs and the slime, considering what slime they are dealing with almost certainly came from her, when that ninja attacked, separated and stole portions of her slime. She wants to know all there is, and what you plan to do as well as how she can help?
>>2596368Oh, well, I wanna go investigate, of course.See if the orks are experimenting on it, or fighting it, or what. If need be, we're gonna rescue it. I don't have a solid plan yet- so far it involves a slow and stealthy approach puddling along the ground and then planting remotes to observe what's going on at a distance. I'd like to get narrion in on this, see if we can have remote skeleton operatives investigate.
>>2596382Based on your intent towards the orcs, Adriana supposes if you couldn't try negotiating with them perhaps, approaching them peaceably and offering to help with their situation? They were antagonistic in the past for sure but maybe you could get Gurda to put in a good word for you? Plus with your healing and other abilities, you could always be of some value to them you suppose. She does agree though that involving Narrion couldn't hurt.So in the course of your catching up and planning, as well as just getting unpacked at home and checking how the neighbors are doing, eventually Narrion does return with a ruddy little goblin in tow."Oh gods there's another one? How many are you going to split into n- oh it's just you, hello Sadie how was your vacation?"There's the matter of the bones of course, but also if you want to involve her in the planning.>How do you proceed?
>>2598812Oh, it went fine. Everyone is doing well. The healing sticks are popular there, too. Even got your bones. What's with the goblin?Once goblin issues are settled, get down to asking about how far she can operate her skeletons, how far she can give orders, and how they work. We're wanting to introduce ourselves to and/or spy on some orks without getting murdered, and our max range on our slime minions isn't comfortably long for proxy meetings.
>>2598827There's of course the obvious matter of the elephant in the room. Hah, elephant."Who's this friend of yours?" you try to offer a friendly greeting but get your finger snapped off."Oh him? This is Bevre, he's my new assistant. I think he wants to learn magic... I don't think he can but he does what I tell him so that's good enough for me."Well that answers that question. You ask her though, in relation to the plan with the orcs. While she's not too keen in getting involved with that, in particular because her skeletons are all orcs now, and she also doesn't want to get her head chopped off or to be captured as a wife. But if you just want to use the skeletons she supposes she can help. To her knowledge there doesn't seem to be a range she can't use them at, but unlike your slime she can't extend her senses through the skeletons, so it would be a case that she gives one an order and it just goes off in a direction until it runs into an obstacle, is destroyed or falls apart.>How do you proceed?
>>2598882Hah, she has an apprentice already? Great work. Apprentices are important. Anyways-Can you give one an order that is outside of your senses?Alternatively, can you transfer command from one person to another? Really what we're trying to do here is diversify our proxies, and not give away straight away that it's slime that is spying on them if we go the spy route.
>>2598903No unfortunately, she isn't capable of either of those things, she literally needs to physically command her undead. Maybe in time she could learn more but currently she's not able to.
>>2598931well, damn, that's a shame. We're gonna have to rely on out natural stealth and a slime proxy for communication. All right, we'll revisit the skeletons for if we need to actually assault the orks. Other tasks will have to be done by slimes. To this end, let's practice with things like having remote slimes plant slimecam rocks, and maybe rounding up some volunteers for slime stealth trials, to see if they notice the pink puddle moving around the woods.
>>2598947Make a roll then, see how well you can do. As for remote slimes, just recall that your direct control over remote slimes is not that far. Sharing senses and stuff is farther by a lot, but direct control is not.
Rolled 97 (1d100)>>2598997
Rolled 53 (1d100)>>2598997yeah, our remote slime range is like 40 ft.We're going to be van-rigging.
>>2599001>>2599018>97Well well, wouldn't you know it but you're able to gather up a number of volunteers and set up a little obstacle course and audience stands in the woods nearby, to test our your stealthy capabilities. As you end up finding as well, you can pull off the stealth game really well, even to those intentionally on the lookout for you. To be fair though this is just in the woods rather than you trying to sneak through an inhabited settlement, but it's a good start. As well you also try out some experiements like with having remote slimes to give them orders to carry a slime rock and plant it somewhere, which works as well as you might hope. You can't directly control said slimes past a certain distance but if it's just a simple order of carry and plant a rock, and then return, then you can manage that just fine.Indeed, a good footing towards your orcish potential problem.>How do you proceed?
>>2599203Well, it seems as if we'll be able to properly infiltrate, though it feels weird rushing off immediately. Spend the rest of the day treating goblins and maybe checking on the alien via slimecams.Tomorrow, we get ready for a stealth mission. We'll need a fully covering cloak, enough extra mass to withstand a fight, and maybe a backup supply of mass under our orders to be a bruiser without actually making ourselves bigger. My current plan is we send a single normal sized slime in to scout, and depending on orcish response, either intentionally have it get captured, spy, or communicate. If it gets captured, we get a full tour of their facility because they don't know we have remote sense. If we can slither through, then oh well, we get to see things anyway. If we can talk, huzzah. They're not trying to kill us any more!Anyway, once we determine the orcish bearing and stance of our slime mass, we can rescue it as need be.
>>2599220If you want to communicate to the orcs you'd need to do it in person or with a copy of yourself, you couldn't just to it with some remote slime to get captured. For the rest though, you'll probably want to consume a lot of mass else you won't have enough slime.Otherwise, you can check the slime cams, but as you find, the crashed metal vessel is finally gone, leaving just the site of the crash in its wake. Probably for the best, considering how dangerous it was. >So then, for the rest of the day apart from practice and helping heal where you can, how do you proceed?
>>2599270Help with healing, and if possible, start on mass gathering.I feel like we're going to be spending several days on that, just because we're gonna need some actual muscle come ork time.In the meantime, look for skilled inventors or magical purveyors. See if they have anything that can help conceal you, or distract people so you can get away.
>>2599288Make a roll for the persons you're looking for. For mass gathering, that's not something you can normally roll for, you have to specify how you're going about it.
Rolled 71 (1d100)>>2599372We can keep up the rat trap business and keep buying extras from butchers throughout the week, with possible hunting trips out into the forest. This is gonna be our main goal for a while, accumulating mass for orkspedition. Maybe get a barrel to safely store it inside.
Rolled 84 (1d100)>>2599372Here's hoping.
>>2599377>>2599388>84Well over the course of a week sure, though do you want to skip another academy visit if you're focusing on this matter? As for seeking out skilled inventors and magical purveyors, indeed you can locate a few, particularly a number of goblin tinkerers. Have you anything particular in mind you might want, that they could have or make within a week? Because you searched well enough to be able to be specific.
>>2599405No, I don't want to skip it.We'll just have to store some of the slime with adriana until we get back.As for specifics, well. I'd like some kind of camoflage cloak, at least, so we can look like something other than a slime.Caltrops, or any other fun variants thereof, are handy too, for ditching pursuers without losing slime. Really, ball-bearings or a super lubricant or super glue would also work for this.A mask might also be handy, depending on how things go down, if we can get a full body concealing outfit.Flashbombs are things we could really use, assuming we don't get them wet. Given our ability to swap senses to other slimes, we could operate even when in close proximity to them.Any of this sounding possible?
>>2599415Also, maybe something that lets slimes throw their weight around without being obviously slimes.Like an armored rounded barrel that they move in by tilting in the appropriate direction to crush things cavalry style.
>>2599415All of those things are actually quite simple within what you can find that the local inventors and such are capable of. Really the disguise is the only semi-complicated matter but it's down to personal preference; how heavily clothed you wish to be. You could just go for a cloak and some robes and a mask, come of as some suspicious stranger but not necessarily one made of slime. Or you could go the misdirection route, and get say some concealing clothes and shawl and come off as a nun or otherwise religious woman, or even do something like those eastern actors whom per their style wear masks, and anything in between. It's also possible to try and manage your own slime better, but that's less reliable than a disguise per se.The rest, the objects and items you described, you don't even have to wait for them to be made, they're readily available on hand and you can just pick up for some coins. >>2599424That's even simpler, doubly so if you get a wagon. In any case, you try to put together your plan over the coming days, gather what you can and increase mass. By the fourth day though, you get a usual stop by from the local goblin gang with another lot of bodies for you to get rid of. Make a roll, to see how many it may be this time, that is if you're interested.
Rolled 9 (1d100)>>2599596Yeah, I'm still interested, even though it tastes terrible and we can't make subsidiary slimes do it.
>>2599609Rip roll
>>2599623yep.
Rolled 98 (1d100)>>2599596Once more...
>>2599646hot dang.
>>2599646>>2599609>98You don't have to eat them with your "mouth" so it's not like you need to taste them. But in any case, it's 6 bodies this time around! So many you wonder, well you'd been away already for a week and then some with the time rift difficulties so the gang were "saving" a few for you to get rid of since. Some of the bodies have been dead for awhile now as such, a bit rank and rotten, but all of them viable to you nonetheless. So that'll be six improvements you could make to your existing abilities, should you be so inclined as to dispose of all the bodies.>How do you proceed?
>>2599667thank 'em kindly. We need to establish some kind of code with these guys to tell them not to bring in bodies if need be, in case of a visit by the parents or the fuzz.Anyways, yeah, check the bodies for life then get rid of them. Maybe one'll be magic.I guess I'll start working up what to do with six points.
Assuming none are magic, I think I'm going to go with something like this.Ringleader 2Monarch 1stability 1healing 1sensory 1The ringleader and monarch are to make the mission of slime rigging easier, and make taking down the eventual slime godzilla the orcs have made more possible. Stability is to help us do things like shapeshift huge legs to go long distances, and will allow our slimes to hold shape better around something like a wagon harness. Healing is for, you know, our job. And sensory is for enhanced stealth, now that I know we can simply choose not to taste things if we want. All this gets thrown right out the door if it's magic, but how does this sound?
>>2599669Indeed they are all dead for sure, no way of knowing beforehand if any are magic though. A consideration does arise though, in Narrion wanting instead to use her own necromantic magic on the bodies. For sure you wouldn't just turn them all over to her, but possibly any? It's not as though she's really in a position to be upset if you refuse her, but it's just a matter of how much you want and think you can benefit from them all versus if she might do well with any.
>>2599677Can't we just give her the skeletons?
>>2599678She'd prefer the whole body, and you'd prefer to eat the skeletons too but you could make a compromise.
>>2599679If we can still get the powers, then yeah, compromise on skeletons. In the future we'll consider a more even split, but right now we are going to go deal with some orks that have slime knowledge, and we need as much of an edge as we can get, you know?
>>2599680Very well then, a fair middle ground in the way of giving her the bones. As for the bodies themselves, well obviously you close up the store so people don't have to witness the consumption of the dead. As you find out though, the third body in the random order you decide upon, is actually magic. Thus you are able to either able to improve a whole category of abilities you already know, or you can learn the next new one in order.>Any differences to your choices, or proceed as planned?
>>2602435We gotta go magic. It's like, the whole overarcing goal of this in the first place, regaining our human powers.
Unrelated to all this, but you were totally right that things are rolling to a stop pretty fast. I'm going to try to be going for some kind of conclusion, or at least a "and then they settled into this comfortable routine". Guess we gotta deal with the orks first, but yeah.
>>2602459Magic it is then, as you passively corrode your way through the bodies and gain a greater understanding of yourself, particularly upon dissolving the magic corpse, leading to you finally regaining a sense of the magic capabilities you used to have while still human and alive;Magic>Magic Detection - You are more familiar with magic now and can sense sources of it present in places or things.>Use Magic Item - In imitation of an organic body, you can finally utilize magic items as they were intended.>Magic Resistance - In channeling magic elsewhere across your slimy surface, you can gain a degree of resistance to magical effects.>Copy Effect - Upon experiencing some type of magic ability, if it is sufficiently within your realm of understanding, your slime can duplicate the effect.>Magic Power - A further understanding of the nature of magic, your slime, and the interaction between both, you regain your former spellcasting abilities.Any differences in choice now with your available 6 points to distribute, or go with the same? And as always, you can put multiple points into any ability, including these newly learned.>>2602503Well we had a good run at least, and we had fun I hope. I sure did, nothing wrong with dropping out if everyone played and got what they wanted out of it, same with nothing wrong about seeking a proper ending. We came pretty far and managed quite a lot, so that's an accomplishment in itself! No shame in any of it, I think.
>>2602521well, this changes things.I'm gonna go monarch 1ringleader 1healing 1magic power 2andmagic detection 1Job enhance, slime rigging, some spells from our old repitoire, and the ability to detect who is magic, or where is magic.
>>2602536Very well then, a decent enough range of abilities chosen providing you with some improved or new capabilities, includingMonarch: Lesser slimes now obey you.Ringleader: You can give your slimes orders of average complexity up to 80 feet away.Healing: Your slime now has moderate restorative properties.Magic Power: You can cast one spell of zero-eth and first level complexity, from you standard spell list https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/spell-lists-and-domains/spell-lists-sorcerer-and-wizard/ per active period of being awake. Though, you need to sleep in order to change the spells you can perform.Magic Detection: You can minorly detect great sources of magic.>With these now known, how do you proceed?
>>2602604Oh shit. Do we get to swap out our spell? And, first thing is first, get to sadie talent transference.Second thing is second, see how well the new healing works for curiosity's sake, and repeat the standard tests on various levels of dead animal, and chunks of meat.
>>2602607You're at magic power 2, so you get 1 spell of each level (0&1) to cast per awake period and each can be swapped during a sleep phase. Though, you can only swap the single (currently) spell for different ones within the same level. So the 0 can only be changed for another 0, the 1 only for another 1, and so on.On the healing, it's about double the speed rate you think of what you could manage before. So it may have taken you say, 10 minutes you heal most any injury, now it takes only 5. Already compared to natural rates of healing it was amazing but now it's beyond belief as one can literally see wounds healed before their very eyes.As for standard tests I'm not exactly sure what you mean.
>>2602616sweet.And mostly I mean to see how complex our healing has grown by testing on meats in various steps of butchery. Can we regrow a mouse's toe? How about its foot? The leg? Does it matter if the mouse is alive or dead at the time?
>>2602619oh, and tests aside, magic party with Adriana while we prestidigitate wildly.
>>2602619Needs to be alive, and no regrowing. Also seems to need to be connected to the nervous system. You can just mend basic to minor injuries (both external and internal), but the benefit being in how short a time.>>2602622You can make Narrion tremendously jealous with your prestidigitation party while all she can do is raise the new skeletons.
>>2602623Oh come on narrion, skeletons are great magic.Aaaand I'm all out of prestidigitation for 24 hours. It was a very short lived prestidigitation party.Anyway, this is great. We could use something like disguise self to go with the robes and mask and REALLY not look like a slime. And we're getting some significant range on our slime minions. How many barrels of ooze have we filled? I want at least two full of enough ooze to crush a dude with weight alone.
>>2602627oh, also, blow our other spell slot for the day on comprehend languages so we can read that dwarf book a bit.See if they know anything we don't about slimes on casual examination of the index.
>>2602627>Aaaand I'm all out of prestidigitation for 24 hours. No, only until your next sleep cycle, whenever that is. For amount of slime, four barrels worth in four days.Good idea for the dwarf book, make a roll to see if you can discern anything and maybe if there's anything particular you're after.
Rolled 70 (1d100)>>2602639let's look at their methods of combating slimes first for anything we've not thought of yet, and then just go over generalities for anything interesting.Heck, maybe see what they know about intelligent slimes, too.How well do those barrels roll under their own weight, now? See if we can get a few more iron rings on them so they don't break at first sign of combat. These things might be our replacement for horses. Hell, we could probably hitch them to a wagon with some kind of free-rotating bit on the side of each of the barrels. We should try that before we go. See if we can make our slime cart a reality, and if so, how fast it goes.
Rolled 7 (1d100)>>2602639Rolling.It's kinda a shame, but since mVTD has such good ideas it's hard for me to think of anything else that I wouldn't want to do anyway, it kinda limits my participation. That, and I suppose that while I like the concept, there's very little...flavor? To the quest. It's very 'okay, you do X, Y, and Z', and the main character doesn't really have a defined voice that our suggestions are translated through, which helps a lot with immersion.
>>2603162Dag. I don't mean to oversuggest. I don't know how I would stop this problem.
>>2603588Nah, at this point, you do you.
>>2603599Yep. Something to work on for the next quest, I guess. For now, we settle plotlines and retire to a life of slime railroad baronhood.
>>2603162That's reasonable, and to be fair the quest was always predicated on the idea of doing wacky slime things first and foremost, with everything else following second. The amount of depth or flavor was as much as the players wanted, so if we got a few threads just to mess around and everyone was satisfied with that, then I'm content to reach a conclusion. Like I said in the previous thread, my preferred style is to try concept idea quests like this based around a central idea first and foremost, let people play and mess around with it for a few threads, and then just move onto the next without delay. If an idea sticks and people like it and want to keep going for longer and more threads that's fine, if not that's fine too and there's always just the next idea next quest, right after. As long as people get to try something fun and fresh for awhile before moving on, then I'm happy to provide that. Also, will continue later today, as usual.
Rolled 99 (1d100)>>2602639
>>2603917dwarves may have really good indexes.
>>2603917>>2603162>>2602645>99Well well well, wouldn't you know it but these crafty dwarves have written nearly everything there is to know about slimes! At least those found underground. Really, if there was anything you could wish to know, chances are you can find it in this book. In relation to slimes that is. Anything from descriptions to habitats to diet and more. There's only so much you can read in the time the spell lasts, but most certainly can you satisfy your curiosity.>How do you proceed?
>>2604485Let's read the slime weaknesses section, then.Know what the orcs might do to us that we hadn't thought of. If there's nothing new there, then just browse the intelligent slime section and see what other intelligent slimes have done in the past. and, if that's not forthcoming, figure out what happens to magic eating slimes.I'm sure the dwarves wrote about at least one of these.
>>2604500There don't seem to be any pink slimes so you default to blue slimes since that's what killed you. The obvious weakness is water, however there's also a matter of forcing the slime to congeal with something grainy like flour or chalk dust. This makes the slime's ability to move and change shape much worse and it's easier to take care of and control them that way. Fire as you expected, doesn't do much, and you already knew about magic harm. One other thing though, any desiccating substances are a death sentence for sure. Such things are rare, but imagine if the orcs dropped a giant sponge on you? You'd be out of luck.Intelligent slimes, there isn't really much beyond ruminations of a slime god and legends of folks who turned to slime or vise verse. For magic eating ones though there's more of that, even whole slime types oriented around it, however there doesn't seem to be any indication of developing intelligence that way. If anything it just makes the slimes more dangerous or capable of magic but certainly not to develop a will or thoughts.Oh well, at least you learned some new things, though the true credibility remains to be seen since the book is mostly writings of compiled accounts, stories and the like and contains a healthy helping of speculation rather than being a dedicated scientific text. Either way, a good chance to use and better get into the feel of using magic again.
>>2604573well, sweet. Watch out for flour and sponges and shit. Good to know. How's the slime-barrel cart coming along? Can it move under its own weight even?If possible, we'll be taking this instead of the elephant up to the orks, and as our general purpose vehicle, if it passes testing.
>>2604607The function of the vehicle, without someone with the skills involved, is a bit too complex for you to manage with just the way you have it now. Getting slime in barrels to roll around is one thing, as is just getting slimes to pull a cart, but trying to get some towing system with all of them involved is a bit much. So your call if you want to try a half measure, involve someone else, or stick to the elephant for now?
>>2604675I'd like to involve someone else. Someone who knows how to make an axle, and understands how horse bits are constructed. So I guess a wagon maker. We basically need a freely spinning axle that, instead of having the ground rotate, has the thing it is affixed to (barrel) rotate. That is then connected to the cart by rope or wood, and the barrels roll foreward to pull us in place of a horse.I feel this is safer than raw slimes pulling it, and they're significantly more crushy in barrel form than in slime form. If we want to stampede someone with no elephant, this is how we do it.
>>2604694Yeah, we'd need a wheelmaker or someone of the sort for that plan.
>>2604704yeah. A cartman, or a wheel man, or a good blacksmith. Something along those lines.Nice reinforced barrels, good axles, strong construction, turning ability. And nobody can ride it but a slime person, since I've not figured out a non-slime control scheme for it yet.
>>2604694>>2604704>>2604709Maybe it'd just be easier to get a card and then corrupt it with your slime? Either way make a roll, and see how well it goes. You might just only need a cart, but then you also could end up with some fantastic contraption.
Rolled 8 (1d100)>>2604858Hm. Try cart corruption too. I didn't realize we could impart motion on inanimates.Either way, we're bringing the barrels along. It's just a matter of whether they are IN the cart or PULLING the cart.
Rolled 65 (1d100)>>2604858Right, then.
>>2604867>>2604865>65Well a carpenter you can manage to find, and even a livestock seller like if you wanted to get some horses. However you can't manage more than that, at least not a mechanic. However you can get at least the plan you wanted before about having a cart that gets pulled by barrels. You'll need an awful lot though because with the barrel weight itself, the slimes can't move very much more than that. At least not until they build up momentum which, pulling a cart they pretty much never well. But in a few days your strange vehicle should be ready, in time for you as when you'd normally make for the academy for the weekend visit, as well as for your interest in finding out what's going on with the orcs. Transporting all your slime by this manner should work, but if you want to involve Narrion or her skeletons that may be harder, though it's not like she's super keen on going anyway.>How do you proceed?
>>2604876She's not super keen on going- we can come back if we REALLY need some skeletons. But the four barrels -should- probably function properly as bruisers when disconnected from the wagon. So, checklist. Correct me if I'm wrong. We've got a nice mask and some robes. Check. We've got four reinforced barrels that can pull the weight of the cart, albeit not very well yet. Check. We've got all sorts of escape gadgets like flash bombs and camo and caltrops. Check. We've got the location of the orks. Check.I think we're damn near ready. Let's spend the remainder of the week maintaining our slime mass and seeing what slimes sealed in barrels do when given no orders. Then we can go and visit our friends on the weekend, and have a full week to go do our orkventure. Also, let's try that "just slimed cart" thing. See if we can impart motion by sliming the wheels, or maybe the whole thing, or maybe just the axles.
>>2604882Yes indeed to all those. As for the cart, you can corrupt parts of it or in total, and impart quickness on it. Then, the thing can move on its own depending on what and how much you slime. If you slime the wheels completely with just that, then the wagon could move at a slow but steady pace. If you have other ideas of how else the cart could be corrupted or with what other abilities, perhaps more could be possible.Otherwise though, you want to just focus on mass and experimenting with barrels?
>>2604898yep. We want them strong and able to roll fast.Maybe reducing the total slime in each barrel could increase their roll torque? It would allow them to effectively shift their weight forewards, instead of just being more dense in front than in back. Also, try some slimed up axles. I feel like a slimed up wheel would just make the thing glorp along, instead of rotating. A slimed up axle might actually rotate. But yeah, main focus is on barrels and getting them strong and fast enough to chase someone down if loosed.
>>2604906You'd think the amount of slime within the barrels would be better on their own considering how many points you invested into quickness. But sure you can practice with the barrels and amounts of slime within. Same with making the wagon better. You can't really attain a much better speed though because you seem limited by your level in corruption, rather than quickness. But something to keep in mind.So a few days fine tuning everything, and come tomorrow is when you'd venture to the academy for a visit. Care for any last preparations while here in town? Assuming that, after the visit, you'll take after the orcs.
>>2604984yeah, the barrels are slower than the slimes themselves, but they're not immediately identifiable as slimes, have no slime damage type weaknesses, and can always come out of the barrel come battle time.As for further preperations, I'm having a hard time thinking of any. We've got our stealth kit, we've got our fighting kit, and we've got several getaway options. I guess one more experiment, and then enjoy your time with the goblins. For the experiment, see if slimes can cast spells if ordered. And, if they can, see if you can make one cast the whisper spell to another one 100 feet away that was ordered to wait for a whisper and follow the order it gives. Slime casting without us exhausting a slot might be a gamechanger, and if possible, would open up things like slime relays and slime fireball brigades.
I've got a bit of a shadowrun game today, so my participation may be slow or nonexistant until tomorrow, unless that has a LOT of breaks for checking rules.
>>2604998>>2606125Unfortunately, as it so turns out your slimes can't cast spells by proxy. It seems like it could be possible, but isn't currently. Something you could look forward to though for sure.Elsewise, you spend a pleasant enough evening in town among the goblins, a short while after having spent most of your time gathering up preparations. Come the next day though, you can have everything packed up and ready to go, and your new slimy chariot is ready to bear it all by completion of the paid woodworkers. Before departing then, you say your goodbyes to Narrion whom will be staying to watch over your house while you're away, as well as your neighbors. Adriana took care to leave a good supply of slimed up healing items so it should be good there, meaning she can accompany you in order to deal with this threat. For the travel itself to the academy then, make a roll the way, for when you should reach there by late this night given the slow pace of the wagon towed by slime barrels.
Rolled 77 (1d100)>>2606666mid game, have a roll though. Sorry.
Rolled 8 (1d100)>>2606666
>>2606692>>2606684>77No trouble at all really along the way, despite the slow pace. You do pass by a couple travelers who seek transport if you're charitable, but that's about it.In any case you reach the exterior of the academy on schedule, but pretty late already. Adriana doesn't want to accompany you for this part so she'll just camp outside with the wagon for a day or two, maybe head over to the burned down house. If it's to deal with the orcs she can wait by that long at least. So then, you can try to gain entry tonight, or wait till morning.>How do you proceed?
>>2606793I don't have time for anything highly specific. Enjoy a nice evening with your friends, ask the ork about her father and how to deal with him, have a nice time with carter.
>>2606810Too late for that now really, it's past when most decent folk would go to sleep. It was merely a matter of whether you seek to get in tonight or not. Rather than risk the magical defenses then, simple enough to just bump the nice evening to a nice morning, as you pass the night by and then request entry tomorrow. Naturally you're bombarded by welcomes from those close to you, in particular Carter of course and you get a quality breakfast and time spent among familiar faces. In particular, interest and excitement about you being able to cast magic again... well, if you're a mage by those standards, then surely you should qualify and want to reapply to the academy? Such optimism, but you know that your lack of magic before wasn't why you got into hot water.Ah, but aside of that you do have consideration to Gurda the resident orc here, since you will probably be dealing with her father soon enough. Nyxa supposes she could get you a meeting with her but how would you introduce yourself and hope to try and break the ice that she'd be open to discussing such matters with you?
>>2606943I don't want a meeting on her word. We'll be showing up as mysterious strangers.Just like, you know, basics on how to get into a deal with orkish leadership. And yeah, we'll try to re-apply at some point, but it really won't work.
>>2606970Obviously but what was meant was, she's herself a princess and appropriately arrogant. She'd normally not give you the time of day, so even with Nyxa's help she's loathe to deign such a being as yourself with her attention. You'd need a way to warrant her interest, before she cares to discuss things with you.
>>2607000oooh. Well, we're going to be go talking with her dad. If that's not enough leverage for making sure it goes well, then I guess nothing. Have a nice day.
>>2607052The dad who attacked this place to "free"/kidnap her when she didn't want to be. She's none beholden to him, so that prospect doesn't get very far. Well, at least you tried. I suppose that frees up the rest of today here for you, before you depart tomorrow.>How do you proceed?
>>2607114All right. Let's check in with the beastiary and show off our new vehicle, so she might get that elephant soon. After that, carter hangouts until it's time to go.
>>2607114Basically.Also, sorry to keep harping on it, but we sent the letter, right? I can't find anything that says we sent it.
>>2607215>>2607179Yes the letter was sent, last time since. Given the unanimous support, I figured it was obvious. My bad for not clarifying. Though, sent or not, you're not sure what kind of response to expect or when...In any case you make one more stop by the menagerie to meet with Maribelle. She came to see you this morning, but you've got another surprise for her, leading through the academy to the outside."Well I guess that's one way to use your slime! I'm sure there's money to be made in this somewhere but that's beyond me.""It also means I probably won't be needing Domra for much longer, like I promised."Mari is awestruck and so very grateful that she throws her arms around you in a great big hug, laughing and thanking you the whole time. At least the elephant will get a good home though, right? That's what should matter most.Well then, when finally you can detach yourself from Mari and seeing her back to her wing of the school, you're free to spend the rest of the day and night with Carter as you see fit. Anything particular you have in mind or need to take care of, before calling it and setting yourself for departure tomorrow morning?
>>2607253Hm. I'd want something to make us invisible we can buy here, but like, I don't think we can use magic items.I can't really think of any super important things to get from the academy right now. I guess check in with the infirmary to see how the healing sticks worked, and offer to upgrade them.
>>2607261Suppose so. I still kinda wish we could do a bit more in terms of setting up/coming to run our own village. There was something about Demon/Monster lands that was kinda glossed over.
>>2607275Hm.Well, we're improving the village some, but I see what you mean.Tell you what, when we get back let's start using the skeletons to build shit. After this ork shit blows over.
A little later than usual but going to continue here in a bit.
>>2609930yallright.
>>2607261>>2607275>>2607295Nah that's right, magic items and objects are beyond you unfortunately. In any case though, after spending the rest of the night with Carter and getting up early, you make a last stop by the infirmary to see how things are going. As you may have expected, you're warmly welcomed and much appreciated for your help in the form of the makeshift medical supplies left behind. It seems the resident healers can handle most things, but your own slimy sticks and bandages are perfect for smaller mundane injuries and quick restoration, quite a useful niche. Your effort to restock and upgrade the supplies is only met with immense gratitude and any one of them would gladly owe you a favor for this and all the help you're providing.Otherwise then, unless there was any last bits of business you needed to take care of, you can depart for the main orc habitation in the area. Of course, rolling for the trip there. Both in part because of any activity which may happen, as well as since you only have a general heading northwards. Not as though it should be impossible to locate but it will take longer than if you knew exactly where it was.
>>2610085All right. Let's make the perilous trip.I wonder what's something we could slime up on an orc that they wouldn't notice. Top of their helmet? Boots? Once we get there, that'd be a real keen way of gathering info if we could smuggle a slimed object onto a guy. Or a well behaved slime.
Rolled 29 (1d100)>>2610095missed my roll
Rolled 33 (1d100)>>2610085Here goes.
>>2610099>>2610110>>2610095>33Well, as it so turns out, you manage to meet up with Adriana and travel north a couple days. You're not searching blindly but it's not a clear heading per se, however you're found long before you find them, by orcs no less. A small roaming band, largely just by chance, happen across your dreadfully slow wagon and surround you. Though they don't appear to be immediately hostile rather than just annoyed over your apparent trespassing, their efforts to find out who you are, what you're doing, and what you're transporting, are bound to reveal the truth about what you are... unless you take the greatest precautions. Though, to be fair you're assuming the truth about you automatically means bad things, when there's no way to know how they'd react."Come on then girlies, what's yer business coming out here?"About five of them total it looks like.>How do you proceed?
>>2610248Hmm, a good story. I didn't expect to be caught out this early in the run. We've got our mask, and we're all en-hooded style, so at least we've got that going for us. Let's tell them we are out trying out our new horseless carriage, and possibly looking to ply our trade. If they press, we can confess to being something of a hedge magician.
>>2610261Adriana doesn't have nearly as good a disguise though. In any case are you trying to claim you're taking your wares to them/their settlement? Or just passing through?
>>2610285Just passing through. We -may- visit the settlement, though. Depending on how good time we make with the cart. Then demonstrate it's slow movespeed.
>>2610291>>2610285and yeah, have adriana keep herself properly covered.
>>2610291Well, since you're not causing trouble and they don't notice her closely enough, they're fine to let you on your way. Since you're non-committal though, they also don't either lead the way or give directions. What point, if you're only -maybe- going to do anything?Well at least you avoided trouble beforehand, and suppose you are closer and/or in the right direction.>How do you proceed?
>>2610297watch which way they go, then after they seem well and gone, climb something to get our bearings. We ideally want to park somewhere inconspicuous outside the settlement. Let's see if we can find that.
>>2610302Make a roll then, part tracking them, part finding a good parking spot. Shouldn't be too hard, but the wagon is so very slow after all.
Rolled 44 (1d100)>>2610326Gonna have to make this thing faster in the future.Quickness isn't doing it, we already have plenty of quickness. Tidal force? Would that do it?Eh, we can swap to non-covert barrel wagon style once we're not infiltrating ork lands.
>>2610334No you would just need higher levels of corruption since you're currently only able to put one level of quickness into it. Higher corruption means more levels of quickness potentially.
>>2610340oh, okay. I had thought we were using the barrel system.I guess we are hauling the barrels.
>>2610348What? They're far too heavy for you to haul lol, and too many. Without pulling the cart they're faster, but still probably not as fast as you'd like. But in any case, you have a hard time tracking the roaming band back to their settlement, however by the time you lose the trail, you're able to climb a tree and look around to see the rest of the way. Though, you're not sure you can locate a particularly good place to leave the wagon other than just, in the woods anywhere all around. Nothing stands out to you at least, it's just a forested area so there's less a chance of things being found but at the same time it's all kind of similar to you.Either way, you can leave the wagon for sure, but how do you want to make your approach to the settlement?
Rolled 71 (1d100)>>2610407Well, shit. The barrels were our heavy goons. I kind of was hoping to have those if we go violent. Oh well.As for an approach, how far are we out from the village? Let's do some probing. Our ringleader is what, 80 feet now? 160? Use ourselves to get some overhead cameras from the nearby treetops, and then start sending tiny slimes in to investigate first hand. Our primary objective is to get eyes on the slime store and overhear orkish conversation involving the slime. If we can find any of their clothing or equipment, we can try to slime that to gain additional information.Hopefully we can figure out the exact nature of their slime work before we talk to them.
>>2610425>71It's 80 feet. As close as you can get the wagon you think without easily being discovered, is around a half hour's run to the settlement. From there, you can close in without the wagon, without much trouble at all.As close as you think you can safely get without being noticed, the settlement appears to be temporary, and is comprised of a good number of simple standing structures which have been moved into and probably will be left behind when moving out eventually. As such nothing is too complex, though different orcs have taken to personalizing their own buildings to suit various purposes or feel more like home. However there are two walls, one sturdy stone but low, one wooden but high and fairly well-made. Many orcs come and go from the few entry points, either from foraging, hunting, handling chores which need going outside the settlement, or just entering and leaving as they please. It's no trouble for you to start setting up slime cameras all around, and then to have smaller slimes start probing. You can even get lucky enough to find a set down shield here or a laid aside coat there to slime up. Indeed it does take some time, several hours for you to get really situated with everything in place to where you can effectively be surveillancing the settlement and listening in. What you are able to vaguely discern though is that the slime, if indeed there is such a problem, is being kept in a pit somewhere in the settlement, and that the chieftain is pretty busy occupied with it. It doesn't sound though like it's running amok or that it's stalking the woods outside, it seems to be in the settlement but not causing destruction at least.>How do you proceed?
>>2610528We've got to get eyes on that slime. Let's try to watch them for some hours from a distance- try to spot their chieftan, and see where he comes and goes. Also keep an eye out for where they bring slop or meat.If we can find where both the chieftan and the meat/slop are going, we PROBABLY found where the slime is, and can then infiltrate that specific building.
>>2610544It doesn't appear to be IN any building. There is a larger one you think serves as a town hall. Outside it around the back though is a pit, where things are occasionally brought and tossed in. If you had to guess based on what you heard, that's the one. No sign of the chieftain though, or at least any fellow you think looks like he's in charge of this lot of orcs.>How do you proceed?
>>2610566Ah, sweet.Let's get as close and send out a drone to slime up a rock near the pit.Adriana can cover us while our vision is elsewhere, and poke us if someone is approaching with her own remotes.
>>2610566>>2610576Actually, it might be best to sneak around it and get a view as to where everyone else is first. Just to make sure that we know how much time we've got to bug out when things go tits up.
>>2611602Actually, yeah.Spend a bit observing their patterns first. Like, an hour?THEN plant the camera in the pit.If we pull this off right, we don't even have to talk to the orks.
Same plan as yesterday, starting a bit later just a heads up. Though now that the thread is in autosage we'll be going at a slower pace than usual till the thread ends. I still think we should be able to reach a conclusion though without trouble.
>>2610576>>2611602Your curiosity is obviously towards the pit, so that first you want to check out. Before you go getting yourself into trouble though, you have the sense to check around beforehand and figure out where anyone is and what might be the best plan of escape if things turn sour.So with Adriana keeping guard, you remote control and view via small slimes to explore into the settlement, closer and closer to the hole as careful as you can to avoid getting caught. You're also very patient so after an hour or two of just waiting, watching, and sneaking closer, you have a rough impression of the situation in the settlement. As it seems though, there are some few patrols here and there, mostly along the walls, but beyond that it's quite hard to predict anything since people just come and go at random or even simply pass by the area on their way to someplace else. It doesn't seem though that you'd never be able to reach the pit if you really wanted. At worst, you could quickly sneak up to leave a slimy rock then retreat, at best you could maybe get a few minutes where no one is happening past to approach the pit with a mini slime and view within.>How do you proceed?
>>2612470hm.Honestly, we just need to get within range to have someone THROW a slime rock. So, prep a slime rock, prep a small slime, and wedge yourself in a crevice near their walls.Do we have enough range to remote the slime from there to the pit, or near it? If so, do that. Easiest for the main body to escape that way.
>>2612489That could work yeah, if you're careful. Make a roll for the attempt, who knows?
Rolled 6 (1d100)>>2612503
Rolled 23 (1d100)>>2612503let's see how we do.
>>2612515Hm. We might have to leg it.Maybe the slime will just get captured? That'd work too.
Rolled 90 (1d100)>>2612503
Rolled 54 (1d100)>>2612581>>2612515>>2612507>23Well let's see, maybe something is getting captured.
Just wanted to say I'm still enjoying this quest from the shadows
>>2612618there was one more roll, if that counts.>>2612623Yeah, it's been fun.
>>2612617>90 Oh well, nevermind then. You're able to work by the plan then to infiltrate the settlement yourself to better instruct the controlled slime. Surprisingly you manage quite well, by dropping in by a tree close enough and then slinking along rooftops and between buildings. The only downside is that to act in this way so stealthily, you need to have ditched your clothes, so if you get seen or caught it's immediately obvious what you are. However you elude capture enough that you can approach towards what you guess to be the town hall, then send a slime with a rock to quickly check out and chuck it close to the pit."Oh... gods."The sight is quite disturbing to say the least, as you are able to see a decently deep pit full of slime. You're not sure what the plan of these orcs is, but from just a handful sized glob originally, they must have been feeding it constantly all this time for it to get to this point. It's certainly more slime than you've ever created yourself.>How do you proceed?
>>2612643And it's not like... slimed up the walls? Or left? Curiouser and curiouser.Send our slime closer. Is it just... being a dumb slime and enjoying sitting here and eating? That thing has ringleader 1 in it. That means it needed to be touched to be given an order.See if our remote can touch it, and get a read on its general status.
>>2612654No it doesn't seem to have attempted to slime it's way up the walls. As your remote slime nears as much as it can, you think this may have something to do with a number of animal furs lining the upper edge around the pit that are soaking wet with water. At least you think so.Your remote slime though can't get close enough to touch it, it would need to actually drop in.
>>2612665Huh. So it can't go over the wet furs? That's a really interesting mechanic.Let's split our rover off into another, sub-rover that doesn't have many powers besides ringleader and monarch. Then drop it in. We'll either get slime contact, or it will eat the slime's traits and then get us slime contact with the BIG ONE.
>>2612675It's not as though it's impossible, you certainly could cross over such a thing. It's just that a mindless slime seems unable or uninterested in doing so. Maybe them just constantly feeding it is enough to keep it sedentary. In any case you quickly recall your slimy scout and reform some new ones to have specifically more the sort of abilities you want them to have. After that it's no trouble to then just have one go back and try to drop and join with the slime mass, as you find..."Nothing?"It seems, if you had to guess, your ringleader ability can only apply from you, or at least copies of you, not just mindless slimes you control. Perhaps having a mind is what matters? Well, in any case just having a remote slime to try this didn't work so you may need to personally touch the slimy mass yourself, some split off servant unable to manage.>How do you proceed?
>>2612693Huh. Did the other slime eat ours, or what?Anyways, I don't feel content leaving this much of our slime in the hands of what are actual warmongers. Let's back out and report our findings, then wait until night time for a proper main body infiltration. At least we've got enough shapeshifter and stability that we could probably reach our arm down from the edge to touch the thing. Just a matter of getting there. We've got those flash bombs, right? We may use them as a distraction if they maintain activity at night. Either by startin' fires or just makin' it obvious some SHIT is going on out in the woods and encouraging them to send out a patrol. We'll have to see how they behave at night to decide.
>>2612702It probably just merged rather than ate. But sure you can exit back out, sneakily the way you came to be safe. You're familiar more now so can follow the same path and eventually just drop outside the walls and rush for the same tree. Within about fifteen minutes and you're back with Adriana as she hands you your clothes back."So... it's just a huge amount of slime? I'm not sure I feel too bad now, I thought it would be something dangerous and causing harm.""We still need a plan of what to do with it though, we can't just leave it here."Together you can come to an agreement but however you go about figuring your plan of action, you'll need to clarify when you're pulling it off, if you're just doing it alone, and make a roll of course.
>>2612718For now, let's just wait until night time and see if the majority of the orks go to sleep.During this time, we can use some of our planted rocks around the pit to try to overhear the locals. See if we can catch the chieftan actually talking about WHY he wants the slime. Also see if they're using it for anything.
Rolled 79 (1d100)>>2612733I guess overhearing roll? From there, we can go one of a few ways.1. The sneak'n'steal. Orcs go to sleep at night, so we slip in there all covert style, touch the thing, and update it to modern slime drivers so it is under our command. Then just leave with it.2. The distract'n'run. Orks are awake at night, so we have to draw them off with flashbangs. Riskier, but same end goal. And 3. the mad dive. Where we fail either of those and try our best to crawl down the hole while hoping our monarchy and being like DON'T EAT ME over and over will count as an order once we touch it. Try not to do this one.
>>2612759>>2612733>79Well, waiting till night is definitely some patience and more than enough time to pay off while listening in for any idle relevant chatter. In passing you do actually see the chieftain and hear him talking but not about the slime unfortunately, so it all has to come from others. As far as you can tell though, from guards at least, it sounds like the chief is trying to turn the slime into a person like the one that was attacking them before in defense of the academy. He's not sure how to go about that though and has so far figured that eventually, feeding it enough ought to do the trick. Everyone else though has just been using it as a convenient waste disposal spot for unwanted food, carcasses, and pretty much anything else. Including, interestingly, the orc ninja from before you realize. You didn't recognize her at first not being in ninja garb, but she's still here for whatever reason and has apparently even dumped a few bodies in the pit to no avail.Oh well, at least you've a better idea of why any of this is happening, they seem to want some resident slime monster for attacking and defending purposes. Ah, but more interesting is your own matter of attack. Indeed you find, most of the orcs go to sleep at night. However this place is pretty populated, so most going to sleep still means there's more than a good few night guards around and a fair smattering of just random folks up and about, usually drunk or lost. Not as though you can't reach the pit at night, and it will be a sight easier for sure. But it won't be without potential risk.>How do you proceed?
>>2612856All right. They're drunk, they're on low patrols. This is the time to sneak in.Have adriana wait outside with half the flash bombs to use if shit goes south, and we'll head in. Stay low and stay cloaked. We'll need like, ten minutes or something to transfer ringleader 2 to this guy, so we might consider just going 100% flat other than the tendril touching it, once we get there.
Rolled 97 (1d100)>>2612869oh, and a roll.Hopefully this goes smooth. We really only need to maintain cover until we get that thing up to ringleader 2, but longer would be better. More range is always good.
>>2612875>>2612869Ringleader 2, but your Monarch ability already supersedes it. Unless you were after giving it Ringleader 2.
>>2612899we're giving it ringleader 2 first, then more monarch, then the rest of ringleader, then anything else we have until we get caught.Basically, range and obedience are priority 1, and the rest will be added as we can.
>>2612875>>2612909>97Well well, given the lessened defenses as the night goes on, and already your experience about the settlement, you give it maybe another hour or two before finally sneaking in. It turns out to be even safer and easier than you'd have expected, such that after a certain point at night, folks don't even bother coming to feed the slime anymore, and at one point while sneaking you happen to run smack into an orc. Staggering about though, he's so drunk as to not seem to notice you're made of slime and in a sad attempt to get friendly and cop a feel and steal a kiss, he ends up passing out on a bench.Well then, a chance enough for you to imbue whatever abilities you have and may want to upon the slime in the pit, using your shapeshifting powers to reach down there and make contact. Just to be safe you shove on it the abilities which would make it obey but before long you feel in control over it. Or at least, not in danger that it is willing to obey you.>How do you proceed?
>>2612927All right. Now get up up to date. Max ringleader, max quickness, some shapeshifting, and anything else we can get away with.Once it's as good as we can get away with, since this takes like an hour from what I remember, let's have it shapeshift its way over the wet animal furs and start gooping itself out of the hole. If a commotion starts, we'll talk it out with 'em. I don't think they'd want to fight when the slime is loose and doing what we say.
>>2612936You sure they won't just try to take us both down? I'm not certain that that's the best course of action. Although I doubt we both can just shlorp out of here.
>>2612940yeah, we can't really sneak out.And once we get this thing up to modern slime drivers, it's going to be a fucking MONSTER in combat. Like, we've got quickness out the ass, and this thing is goddamn building sized.best chance of getting out of here without a rampage will be walking out calmly, and then talking if people try to stop us.
>>2612945also, I'm thinking of giving them some healing sticks, if they're amenicable. You know, water under the bridge about you trying to kill us, you DID give us a super huge slime, have some healing sticks, you can buy more from me later.
>>2612936>>2612940>>2612945>>2612949WELL it might work! Make a roll for the attempt, the escape that is. The merging you don't need to roll for.
Rolled 41 (1d100)>>2613013Here's hoping. Last roll for the night.
Rolled 57 (1d100)>>2613013I don't think we're merging, just, you know, updating slime drivers. And yeah, let's see if we can just... walk out with nobody noticing.
>>2613016Oh you mean you're just getting it to the point where you can order it like other slimes?I thought you were incorporating the mass. Well that will be a bit harder, but still possible maybe.
>>2613023I mean, I guess we can do that. I didn't consider that possibility.Be sure to, uh, make slime clothes. Since we're apparently going full kaiju, and I like that idea.
>>2613015night bro.
Rolled 40 (1d100)>>2613013
Rolled 62 (1d100)>>2613013"We bravely ran away..."
Sorry, died there for a bit.>>2613015>>2613016>>2613127>>2613192>62While imbuing various abilities to the slime mass, you consider your options for an escape. You could just direct the thing to leave once you get enough control over it, however already itself couldn't all that well escape the pit so you trying to "steer" it out yourself seems even harder. Eventually you come to the conclusion instead to just try incorporating and moving it yourself as an extension of your body, and so after the slime mass is "caught up" to your abilities, you climb over the edge and with some hesitation and a habitual deep breath, you drop down, splatting on the surface but quickly merging with. "Oh wow this is... wheeew this is so weird!"You've never had even remotely this amount of slime before, so just getting used to the spread feeling takes quite a lot from you let alone controlling it. Eventually though with much concentration and struggle to try and get used to it, you make an effort to establish a form out of it all that you can more easily have a mental sense of to control. As best as you can manage, you can emerge about up to your stomach (by human anatomy standards) from the slimy mass, and then sort of lethargically pull yourself out since movement like this feels very slow and heavy. What a sight it must be to see more than a swimming pool's worth of slime form into a vaguely half-humanoid shape and then climb out of the pit. Really it's a wonder then that you don't get caught in the process. Though, to be fair, as you saw it's late enough that there's periods where not even guards happen by for tens of minutes at a time even, so you can just wait and pick a time before you do your best to escape in one relatively quick effort."Aaagh! You scared me, you're gigantic!"Eventually you do manage to have exited the pit, make for the walls as directly as you can and kind of just crash, slam, slime into, through and over them. There's a bit of destruction left in your wake and likely confusion soon to follow but you can do your best to just vacate the area as quick as possible and find Adriana again, intending to escape completely the two of you. If you can make it to the wagon by dawn and get a move on, you should be able to escape the forest at least without being caught, or if instead you find some place to hide you could wait it out even longer. In any case, haste seems to be the idea, and with her leading the way and being faster you do your best to slime your gigantic mass through the forest, though along the way you can't avoid smashing into some trees and kind of just sliming around or squeezing between them. You thought it not such a big deal, but it must have been a trail easy enough to track because within the hour, a rather sudden shock as Adriana gets a lantern knocked out of her hand by none other than a well-placed throwing star. There, worryingly, is the ninja orc lass having followed after you.
>>2616973Post was at limit, but by looking you can assume that, before immediately just setting off to track you, she clearly suited up first. That's why it must have taken her this long to catch up to you rather than just tracking you right after you busted out of the walls.Either way though, she's clearly prepared. Or maybe not so clearly as you only catch a glimpse of her from the fallen light before she backs into the darkness again.>How do you proceed?
>>2616973ah jeez, I wasn't hoping to destroy them too bad. I guess we only destroyed tents and shit though, so it's probably fine.>>2616984Give the ninja a single warning that she can't compete with us now, and she should really back off permanent like.If she fails to do so, simply flatten yourself out over the forest and trees to make an even slime coat, and grab her that way. We're HUGE, we've got surface area.Make sure you avoid adriana though.
>>2617027It's only natural you should threaten this pest again, all this trouble is her fault to begin with."Thass' fine, I'll let ya go. I only need a piece a ya ta start over again."With a gleam of a blade in the dark, it seems obvious what she's after, and given the lack of throwing stars thrown at you directly this time, it seems she's not trying to kill you but to just chop another piece off and take it with her. Again.>How do you proceed?
>>2617083Ugh. Why are they so bent on making a slime super soldier? It won't end well. Maybe we can try to just cripple her. I'm not in the mood for killing. Also FYI this is how we begin the Sentient Slime race. Once we get away from her we bud off into another separation or twenty like we did before. We might have to start our own village or something....We need a better name than sentient slime. Something respectable and unique.
>>2617083>"Oh, you want a piece of me then? Then have your fill."Engulf her in healing slime and pump her to the gills with it, enough so that she has trouble moving quickly.
>>2617083Grab her and lifter her up, bring her eye to eye.Tell her we got kicked out of a VERY nice town because of her bullshit, and their plan to make a thinking slime both won't work and is extraordinarily dangerous for them without a slime controller nearby. If they want slime for something else, like a disposal pit, they have to ask like goddamn normal people and pay money. And then, maybe, if we're feeling nice, we'll set them up with a freaking trash slime.
>>2617103Hm.How do we deal with the carter problem though? I don't want another 20 divergeance dramas, and that's even assuming all of them behave as well as adrianna. And it's not like we can get HER to do it, since she also has a boyfriend.Maybe once one of us (her) breaks up? Hm.
>>2617124"...both won't work and is extraordinarily dangerous for them without a slime controller nearby."Should we really mention this part? Also, what do you think of 'Gel/Gels'? For a racial name, I mean.
>>2617133Carter problem? Divergeance drama? Can you elaborate? Because I thought Adriana had a different boyfriend.
>>2617134well, let's just say it won't work and is extraordinarily dangerous, then. And that works just as well as slimes does.>>2617138Us and adriana had scuffles over carter, and there maybe was even an eating attempt. Now multiply that by 20.>>2617121This seems like a good backup if she is being stubborn to the goddamn giant.
>>2617124Definitely don't mention the need for an intelligent slime to control them. That's only going to put a target on our back for getting kidnapped,
>>2617121Might be good as a backup, yeah.>>2617143Ohhhh. Hm. Yeah, that could be an issue. I forgot that they're basically clones of us until they start forging their own unique perspective and memories. I mean, I still want to do it, but that's a big question as to how, yeah. And I was thinking a different name because, well. Names are important. Everyone already equates 'Slime' to 'mindless threatening eating machine.' We eat a ton, sure, but we're certainly not mindless. So I was thinking a different name would do well in divesting us of that preconception. Not like it'd take immediately, we'd have to push the matter. But still!
>>2617153Yeah, the whole carter thing is the main problem. We can't just make new people, we can only make more sadies. And more adrianas. Those are the only two models of people we have right now, and both are kind of jealous about their men. Probably. We should discuss this with Adriana, who knows, maybe she's into it these days. At a later date though.>>2617147yeah, that's fair. Enough to tell them that it's just... REALLY dumb. Also we don't want to prove that fortune teller right when it inevitably kills them, but we don't have to tell her that.
Hell, if she asks nicely I'm not even opposed to her having a sample. It's not like she can't get them anyway. So many pieces of us are on the goblin market right now from stolen generation 1 cameras.
>>2617165Thought. Could it be possible to merge slime from us and slime from Adriana to form a third slime that's a bit less into Carter? Or something like that?
>>2617175And we could just say that."Have you considered just ASKING NICELY? You might be surprised at the response!"
>>2617185Well, there's always that "mating" thing slimes can do.I've never seen it in action, so I don't know what happens. We should get two of our dummy slimes to do it, or blue slime and a dummy, and see what the fuck happens. Then maybe consider doing it with adriana to make slimeple.
>>2617196Worth looking into, I suppose.
>>2617215Might be our best option for your whole slime people plan.Myself, I was planning on just using all this excess slime as a rainy day fund until we figure something out to do with it.
>>2617289We could still- just not as much.
Hey guys, sorry again about the later time yesterday. Will try to do things on normal time again later.
>>2618575M'kadokes.
>>2618575righto. I maybe late to the first post as I'm doing shit, but will try to check in every 15 or so minutes until gamestart.
Rolled 97 (1d100)Ok ok resuming, thanks for the patience.
>>2619216>97My oh my. Well her conviction is quite solid, if only her dexterity was as good. She doesn't relent to your threats, but just the same she isn't able to escape when you devote all your mass towards grabbing for her. She does of course try to get away, but your combined slime pretty much just smashing through and past trees to get her, and she gets overwhelmed. Now, well that she's caught, she's probably having second thoughts."Have you considered just ASKING NICELY? You might be surprised at the response!"Nervous now, caught up in slime, she stammers a reply."Ah ha ha hah... can I please have a part of you den?"Not very big of her though to only weaken after being caught. You consider just sliming her entirely out of annoyance, but she did try as you suggested.Adriana meanwhile just wants you to like, bash her against a tree so the two of you can continue escaping.>How do you proceed?
>>2619259Eye roll.Keep her slimed nice and snug, and drag her close."Word of warning- trying to make a thinking slime is really REALLY dangerous Not to mention pretty much impossible. I don't even know how *I* formed- I was an accident. Slimes that aren't smart like me can be really corrosive and violent, and they DON'T CARE what they eat. In fact, they really like living bodies. You're risking your tribe by doing this. As a medic, I have to advise against this. However."And THEN we give a small piece of ourselves- hardly enough to fill a jar."Slimes DO eat almost anything. If nothing else it'll probably be very content as a disposal pit. I would strongly suggest not letting it grow beyond the size of...I'd say a boulder or so. The bigger slimes gets, the more hungry they get. I'm honestly surprised the one you had was so docile.""If you come after me again...well, please just don't come after me again. I don't enjoy being violent."
>>2619259Fine, it's going to kill you all because you're idiots. Then give them a real stripped down slime. Ringleader, monarch, healing, and the ability to eat. Then tell her that the goblins have been stealing this shit off of you for literal months and you could have gotten it for a single coin.
>>2619330Wait, why ringleader and monarch?
>>2619330>>2619321"Ah well they ain't my tribe."She's nervous of your treatment of her, however she doesn't seem to care all that much for the other orcs for reasons she explains. For her it's just a job. When you tell her though that there's apparently no chance of an intelligent slime, she's a lot less eager to take any from you. Before she had been under the impression that eventually a slime from you could gain intelligence. Now though, if that's potentially not possible, she may even just pass on the offer."Chieftain wants hisself a slime bride, earn back respect for the dead from one. Normal slime, he won't care about and I won't gets a reward..."Might explain why she didn't come looking for any more slime... though now she'd be happy if you're letting her go. Anything first and foremost to avoid a slimy fate.>How do you proceed?
>>2619350so that we can come in and save their asses if they ever fuck up.>>2619352Wait, who's dead are you earning back the respect of? Or, is the chieftan? How does a slime bride do that?I'm legitimately curious.
>>2619363I thought those two were from us to non-sentient slime, not that non-sentient needed to have them.
>>2619367Non-sentient slime need to have ringleader in order to pick up our orders at range.Monarch I'm not SURE about, but I'm throwing in just in case it works like ringleader.
>>2619363She can only explain it from a secondhand account since she's not a member of the tribe, but from what it sounds like (from what she's heard and tells you), some time back the tribe attacked some institute in the area but part of having to call it off is because of a number of their own got killed by a slime monster person, lady? One thing to lose people in the line of duty while raiding the academy, but another to lose a bunch with no retribution. The chieftain lost a lot of respect for those things, so hearing of what happened, his goal was to "conquer" and take a slime bride or at least capture the slime responsible to punish and then force to work. That's where the ninja came in, hence why she tried to kidnap Adriana. Though her mistake in believing just a piece could be the same as having the sentience and appearance. She'd hoped to pass it off as you, but that didn't work since it was just a slime.Obviously now she can't attack you if she's been caught, but also the idea that she'd have to, all over again, attack and reduce one of you in order to kidnap for the chief. All of that for the reward... seems a bit much.
>>2619395Huh. Well, we'll tell you when we figure out how to make slimes do work. We've been working on that this entire time ourselves. Damn things are shit at tool use.Does she know if their tribe does any kind of weregild system? It would be a pain to have her coming back again, if we could simply pay them the fuck off.Speaking of, how much does a ninja go for, anyway? What's your job price?
>>2619379Ohh. Well, point may be moot anyways.>>2619395What was the reward? If you needed it...perhaps you could get a piece of us, insist it needed care, then beg off?(I dunno, I'm not sure she'd be willing to work for us, but I'm otherwise stuck for as to what to do with her. I mean, if we let get go...)
>>2619423I'm mostly curious how much a hired assassin goes for. I'm planning on letting her go, but I probably don't want to hire her unless she's cheap. Most I would do is give her a half now half on completion task to figure out who assassinated me. No need to kill them back, just figure it out.
>>2619458How about telling her about how we can heal wounds through slime therapy back in the goblin village? A ninja like her can get hurt in the field, no matter how good they are, and seeing as we take bodies for disposal from the gobbo mafia, we've got a bit of street cred.
>>2619480I mean, we DO offer healing services to pretty much fucking anybody that has things we can heal. Works on nerve damage, too! Just not on cut off parts.I don't mind telling her, but like... these are just curiosity asks. For all we know her price range is WAY out of ours.
>>2619420>>2619423Depends on the job she admits, though respect in part as well. For this particular job she wasn't doing it for money, and admits an actual wage would be nice and she prefers those jobs. Since she doesn't imagine that you'd be one to employ her, just asking out of curiosity, she gives what you have to assume is a carelessly low value of something between either a few gold a day or around 200 or more for a particular job assuming assassination. Obviously less risky jobs less.
>>2619480That is also appealing to her on the other hand, the respect side of things. A healing slime person is something special. Though it's not on the level of a chieftain. Assuming you were higher than that, then she'd work only for the respect.Like ideally her dream job would be serving as a ninja or spy for an orc king for example, that level of respect is mighty. Or being paid by someone rich. Essentially either the money, or the benefit to reputation. Your own case is special for sure (from what little she knows) but it's not like you're royalty or something, so money would have to be it.
>>2619552Two hundred?Does she do non-assassination jobs? We need an investigator.Hell, we'll give her a finders fee of a tenth that if she can tell us OF a good investigator.
>>2619559...Oh yeah, we don't really use much money, do we? How much we got?
>>2619559Also we'll eventually BE something like a Chieftan, hopefully. Still need to experiment.>>2619552But yeah right now ask how much for investigative services.
>>2619559Seems like it would be a waste of her skills but she'd probably prefer non-killing jobs since they're less risky. If it's just spying then again it would depend but probably half that of killing.Though to be fair all of this is off the top of her head, in the early hours of dawn, in the woods, chasing and being caught by a giant slime monster.>>2619571About 5500 gold. You started with 5000 after leaving the academy and spent some amount between getting setup in the outcast town and basic living, but made back a ton from academy jobs. Particularly the time rift one.
>>2619571we got several hundred after that last mission even.>>2619576Gotta keep those hopes high. One day, slime queen.
Also lol wtf just noticed there's another slime quest running. Must be a popular idea.
>>2619580Alright, then. I think we have a job for her? >>2619581You're probably better giving the specifics of the job we want done.
>>2619580Tell you what, ork lady.If you're serious about work, come talk to me again when you're not under duress. I'm offering generous terms. Let's say 100 downpayment, 400 if you actually find who did it. Sound good?
>>2619585Yours is better.
>>2619594We need to give her the specifics, yeah, but at like... a proper meet. Not with a slime gun to her head. And that's assuming she can even FIND our hut. If she can't, then investigating won't really turn out well for her anyway.
>>2619596Maaake a roll, for such strange circumstances.
Rolled 88 (1d100)>>2619635Let's see if she accepts coming to the johnson meet to discuss terms. You never know when it comes to shadowrunners.
Rolled 93 (1d100)>>2619635
Rolled 53 (1d100)>>2619635Sure, why not.
>>2619642>>2619636>93Well well, it may be because you're offering a better deal, it may be because you're threatening to kill her, but after some hesitation and an uneasy, tusky smile she agrees. Reputation, respect, all that jazz... working for a chieftain is nice but at the end of the day can anything beat money? Especially at the apparently obscene rate you're offering just for some spying.Well it would be up to you to set a meeting, but she seems interested. She does raise concern (for your sake) though about the chieftain, and that he's not just going to give up even if the slime got away. For his own reputation he needs some restitution against you.Otherwise though, for the fee you're offering, it seems you've drawn the service of an orcish ninja. Adriana isn't happy with this, but it's not as though you're having the two of them work together.>How do you proceed?
>>2619659All right. We'll be meeting at our house in a week, come sundown when the customers are leaving. You'll pick up your hundred there, and get the rest of the details. The job will be investigating a cold case murder of two people with unusual weapons. As for the chief, just give him a bit of my slime, tell him you recovered enough to restart the project, and don't tell him that it will never work. That kept him off my back so far, right?
>>2619659Basically >>2619675.
Anyway, I think all our objectives involving this have been kind of solved. The entire reason we came out here was to make sure that A. they weren't doing FUCKED UP SLIME EXPERIMENTS, and B. they weren't all dying. Both of which are satisfied.Good work people. Now help me think of how the hell we are going to use all this slime.
>>2619684You already got my idea. We'll have to do some experiments for making more of the Gel (tm) race, but that's my long term idea. Short term...hm....yeah, no I'm a bit baffled. Maybe we could give some to Marianne and she could help out with our goals? I have to think she'd be interested.
>>2619694Yeah, I guess we should try some blue slime experiments. See what the hell slime mating is like. Hope it's not too gross, or doesn't kill the parents. We should also consult our sister slime on if she wants any of this slime mass, or has any ideas on what to do with it.
>>2619717Oh. It just hit me.We, theoretically. Could try the MGE method.I.E. Take Carter and bangarang. See what happens. But, I think that would come WAY later. AFTER the general tests.
>>2619756hm. Yeah, way after.Like, we have to rule out "horrible tetsuo the thing flesh blob merger" as a result here.
>>2619684>Now help me think of how the hell we are going to use all this slime. We could store it in a similar situation the orcs had our slime in. Then when we need it, we can pull what we need out of storage for experiments. Also, any of you guys want to visit Carter while we're still huge and get some jumbo-sized snuggling in with him after this?
>>2619694>>2619717Well then, the ninja thanks you for not killing her, takes a piece of you, and is on her way. Assumedly, to be seen again in a week, after having given her an idea of where you live. After that, well it's free for you and Adriana to be on your way again escaping. She thinks letting the ninja go was a mistake and is upset, but too late to do anything now. You do at least discuss with her what to do with all the slime. "I don't know... could cause a lot of damage with that much slime... and there's still plenty of criminals and hideouts around these parts."She's also not opposed to the idea of maybe separating into more of you. After all, consider how useful just the two of you apart have been able to be. Assuming you were smart about it, and she's willing to help, think of what you could do with even more of you. Though there are rumblings of an idea of forming your own race. Though different you both are in some ways, at the core you're both Sadie still to a degree, and her ambitions still run strong. Talk about making the best of a bad situation, supposing you were to, carefully, start developing into your own separate race? Well, that more than anything you could imagine doing while human, would certainly make a mark on history. And that's even without the ideas of world domination! Ah, but the logistics of that would be terribly difficult she imagines, and would take still more abilities refined for sure. And to top it all off she wouldn't even know how to go about doing such a thing. It's a bold and interesting idea, but it may be only a fantasy at the end of the day. Plus, as you predicted, she can't imagine how any competition might turn out if all your duplicates think themselves better or entitled to things. You think Carter could really handle a horde of duplicates all after his love?In any case, the two of you can reach the stashed wagon by dawn, only finding some kobolds climbing all over it and checking for goods, but shrieking in panic when they see you. The getaway seems clear, however it occurs to you that you can't fit the wagon in your size.>How do you proceed?
>>2619781Tell them to bugger off. As for what else, talk about that whole experimenting thing. We've got nothing else major on the docket, so no reason to not get started now.
>>2619781>>2619809And by that, I mean we need to drill this down into noted priorities.Step 1: Figure out how slimes spawn.Step 2: Figure out how to apply that to ourselves.Step 3: Figure out how to have unique personality traits form at spawn, or, failing that, quickly afterward.Step 4: ???Step 5: Profit!
>>2619776Sure, sounds fun. >>2619781haha, silly buggers. All we have is slime. We carry our valuables. lets' get going home, maybe with a stop near the academy come morning.>>2619809and yeah, let's have a good talk, and run some simulations.Let's make two slimes and have them mate and see what the fuck happens.Make one opaque and one non for marker purposes.>>26198211 and 2 we have in theory, but need some practical work on.3 is right up in the air, needs work. But we can PROBABLY do it.
>>2619822>>2619821>>2619809Lofty goals, but you still have to escape the area, soon expecting the orcs to come looking in patrols and the like. How are you planning to flee then, just shlorp alongside the wagon as it goes and hope you can make a pace good enough to get away?
>>2619872Right, that whole issue. Hm. Wonder if we can fake them out somehow...we can't just mosey along, for certain. Thoughts?
>>2619872Can we lift the wagon?I think we can slime along WAY faster than it can roll. We're fucking massive.>>2619876I think we can just... leave. We can run at running speeds indefinitely. Biggest issue is crushing something on accident.
>>2619882I guess that's it. We can outrun them, we just need to not leave a trail. We might jackknife back and forth if that proves impossible.
>>2619882I mean, that's honestly better than what I can think of.
>>2619965we kind of have a huge speed advantage under long distances. We just need to find a cliff or a mountain or something and go up it and we've lost them.
>>2619974Sanic spinball style?
>>2619993Or maybe a better analogy would be Samus Spider Ball?
>>2619993yeah, just sort of loop our way up there. Assuming we can find one.And all this assumes we can carry the cart.
>>2619944>>2619965>>2619974>>2619993Alright well try a roll then, just to see how you can maintain consistency. You're so much huger than you're used to that while you may technically be capable of immense feats, in terms of actually pulling them off your'e at an inexperienced disadvantage.
Rolled 63 (1d100)>>2620054makes sense. We don't have enough stability. We may have to subdivide into a few slimes that we order about
Rolled 41 (1d100)>>2620054
Rolled 12 (1d100)>>2620054
Rolled 92 (1d100)>>2620054Here goes.
>>2620093>>2620081>>2620067>>2620062>92Well well, it sure takes some getting used to, but you can manage eventually to pretty much just slime up the wagon entirely and then carry it off with you as you go. You're certainly large enough, and much faster than it would be otherwise.Furthermore, in escaping, taking a more roundabout way rather than the straightest path to depart this forested region, you don't encounter any convenient cliffs but you do manage to find a cave. You could chalk it up to your expert navigation skills or luck, but really it was probably more just tracking those kobolds who fled from the wagon. In any case, if you should want to you suppose you could hide out inside for maybe a day or two till the orcs give up looking and then depart freely. Or, you could just keep on, but risk being noticed. Your call.
>>2620149We're doing this at night, right? Wait until early morning, then continue on.
>>2620149Let's hide out. We've got the mass to last a while, and fight if we need to.Try to make sure we don't entirely block the cave's air supply though. Who knows what we could be suffocating down there.
>>2620170The whole ordeal with the escape took place over the course of the night. By now it's mid-morning when you come upon the cave, already yourself in retreat.
>>2620189>>2620170I think we should try covering during the day. It'll make us harder to track.
>>2620149Hole up in the cave, then see if we can change our slime into something resembling our bipedal form. Also, you said we're about the size of a pool or a building, but can we get some specifics about that?
>>2620189>>2620171Hmm...I'm just worried that they might try to take vengeance in another way.>>2620194Covering?
>>2620200you know, covering in the cave.
>>2620209Oh, doy. I guess. As I said, I'm worried they're gonna get really pissed.
>>2620212well, we didn't rampage too bad on our way out. I don't think anybody even died. But yeah, we should check the academy on the way back to our village just in case. You know, after hiding a bit until the heat's off.
>>2620215Fair.
>>2620199Consider the approximate volume of a swimming pool, is how much slime you have. It's so much to control though and more than you're used to, that your consistency and self-image is lessened as a result. So along the lines of a physical form such as that of the image included, but just huge enough to incorporate all the volume of slime that you have. Compared to you normally, where with enough slime to be at your standard human size and that of the body you (or at least Sadie) were used to, you can appear perfectly to match such a body right down to such details as skin pores and even great hair imitation. Though, of course, all made of pink slime. >>2620209>>2620225>>2620199Well then, into the cave it is, though you do struggle for awhile to fit the wagon without destroying it. You also make an effort not to completely block the cave with slime, while Adriana makes an effort to find as much underbrush and foliage as she can to attempt to cover the cave up at least partially. So then, how long do you care to wait for in here. You've only slimed your way into the entrance and it's just you and Adriana up here.
>>2620256Stay here during the day so nobody spots you cresting over the horizon. We move at night. Now is the time for small talk. So, adrianna. What kind of things does your boyfriend like?
>>2620256For about four hours, barring we don't hear any orcish marching. If we do, wait another four. If not, one more, then move- basically we leave in evening. We can use this time to discuss things.
>>2620264well, if we leave during the day, can we at least stay under tree level?
>>2620274Don't see why not.
Rolled 16 (1d100)>>2620262>>2620264You decide to stay here for at least several hours and then to leave, probably after noon. In the meantime then, with little else to do and not really enough room to try practicing your control over so much slime, you get to talking with Adriana."So, Adriana. What kind of things does your boyfriend like?""Jean? Oh he's just great, you know he was part of a trading entourage but after we met he decided to stick around! He's impulsive like that, but so bold and never boring. He has quite the interest in..."Your personal question catches her off guard, that she delves into talking about him without restraint, clearly happy to do so and happy to be with him. Carrying on about his interests in reading, appraisal and horses, it's a good while at least before she catches herself and realizes what's going on, subtly reigning her enthusiasm in and acting and speaking more properly due to suspicion. "Why do you ask? Is Carter not enough?"That hurt. She brings up a fair point though, in that she has Jean whenever she wants, and you can only assume her outing every day or night is to spend time with him. Meanwhile, you only possibly get to see Carter once a week and only for a measured time. It's hard not to be at least a little jealous of what she has now that you think about it.
>>2620338>16Speaking of jealousy, at first you only noticed it like some nudging but now you're sure, that you're being poked and jabbed from behind. It's difficult to look through yourself but you can extend your vision through any part of your body to see out your back. Which, you notice, a few of the kobolds have returned and are angrily attempting to attack you, probably for being in the way. Only a few though, it appears the rest were too scared. Though these few, they must want that fancy crown for themselves.>How do you proceed?
>>2620338oh, no, I'm just curious. We're like sisters, kinda, so that means he's the boy my sister is dating.Which means I am LEGALLY REQUIRED to snoop.>>2620347oh. Grow a face over there to talk to them.Ask them to stop, and apologize for blocking the path. We're only staying here for a few hours. We can make a path for them to get out, if they like. Then re-orient the air hole to a walkable path for them.
>>2620347Hey.Hey.Bugger off. That's annoying.Toss them...Iunno, something. Something shiny and less wanted. Also, as for our jealousy, that's...a fair point. But we're not jealous of you having Jean specifically- we just want what you have but with Carter. It's partially our fault, though, since we keep insisting he should graduate. We know if we said so, he'd gladly come with us...but it doesn't feel right tearing him away from something he's been working so hard on. It's...rough. Very rough. But we want to hope that the longing will make us stronger in the end.But as for you and Jean specifically! We're super happy for you! So long as he keeps treating you right, that is. If not we're required to rain terror down on him.
>>2620364you seem dead on here. Shiny things for jean, expression of how we are kind of impatient but willing to wait for carter, and curiosity about jean/hope their relationship goes well/offers to assist if they need help with parties/dire retribution.
>>2620383er, shiny things for KOBOLDS.
>>2620383>>2620364>>2620359Well before you even get a chance to try, the act of attempting to speak to them catches them off guard and frightens them off. Didn't even need to give them anything, it seems they weren't too brave.Well then, with the passage of the several hours, you can depart the cave with all your slimy mass, the wagon, and all the slime in it as well. You and Adriana can make your escape again, just make a roll to do so since it's still daytime.
Rolled 50 (1d100)>>2620405hm. A bit too early for me, but oh well. Let's go. Stay under the tree line, so we don't show our massive form.
Rolled 3 (1d100)>>2620405WITH CATLIKE TREAD
>>2620412>>2620417>50Well, not as bad as it could be not great either. You try to be as stealthy as you can moving about the woods in the daytime, while yourself giant and carting around a cart with you. Crashing, smashing and bashing into trees as you go and frightening animals far and wide. And all at only an average pace. The good news is that you mostly escape from the northern forested region altogether. The bad news is it's not without a little trouble, in the form of one wayward scouting orc party whom happened to tracking you towards the waning hours of the afternoon. There's not a ton of them or anything, only about six plus their mount animals. And while you don't suspect they could pose an immense threat to you, there's the risk of them getting away and informing the rest of the tribe. That's a big if, of course. For now, they kind of encircle and attempt to corral you, not yet realizing that you're sentient and thinking you just a dumb big slime. Because of this they aren't yet hostile, and in trying to box you in they also discuss among themselves aloud how to get you back to the settlement.>How do you proceed?
>>2620460split off into several smaller slimes, and go faster still.Hopefully we can tire out their mounts.
>>2620460Oy. Well, we can't spill the truth without ruining our arrangement with the Orc Ninja girl. I'd rather avoid a violent end to this all, though...>>2620477What about our cart?
>>2620483Hm.We can slog it around in one of the bigger slimes. Adrianna will have to hoof it or ride on top, though.
>>2620490>>2620483though really, the wagon was nothing special. Just a test vehicle. If need be, we can abandon it.We had no valuable goods in there.
Wait, thought. Is there any way we could disable them?>>2620492Wait, really? I thought we had shit inside it for some reason. If so, fuck it, ditch it.
>>2620495we've got like, some flash bombs and shit, but I think we've got those in us.I guess the axles are slimed up, but that's not really valuable.
>>2620495Well, also all those barrels full of slime. And the barrels pulling it, full of slime.
>>2620516Ugh. Well, back to other suggestion- disabling them somehow. I think we should do that.
>>2620477In this, I assume you mean split into smaller but still mindless slimes to control them? Or literally split into many smaller copies?
>>2620516I thought... we didn't have the barrels? And now we do again? I'm so confused.Oh well, just empty out them barrels. And make a buncha mindless slimes that we're ordering to run in one direction. They're fast.
>>2620526What if they catch any of our slimes, though?
>>2620518well, we could just start leaving and leaving a numbing trail of slime. They ride over it, their mounts go numb, we retract the trail and leave while they're stunned.
>>2620528then they get a more dangerous slime than we meant to give them. They might die worse. Nothing they couldn't get for 10 copper at the goblin village, though.
>>2620529Oh, that sounds clever.
Rolled 96 (1d100)>>2620530Hm. Alright. I can go for either solution, then really.Rolling early because I need to get to bed.
>>2620534sleep well dude.
>>2620526You had decided that the barrels weren't as useful as you'd hoped, as I recall, but this was after you'd already left home and so at that point were still transporting them. And then, again if I'm not mistaken, you'd had it that the wagon was being towed in part by some slime barrels in place of horses. Though the wagon can move on it's own slowly, the barrels up front helped somewhat too. Thus, assuming no mistakes, you'd still have 10 barrels (4 pulling, 6 just in the wagon) at least half-full of slime. This plan to split and flee, well the wagon couldn't be carried with you, but each of your split slimes could take a barrel easily enough.>>2620534>96Well that's actually very clever, plus it deals with one major problem at least of being chased down by the orcs if you try to flee since they are mounted. So you schism off into several smaller but still very large slimes and then make a hasty but rather unorganized retreat, intentionally leaving a numbing residue trail of slime behind you as you go. The effect, although it takes a good while to kick in and much distance, is that the mounts of the orcs go numb in the legs and eventually collapse to further numb their bodies. Now the orcs, they're wearing boots or shoes, so the numbing effect won't work on them in the same way. However, your quickness and that of the other slimes is enough that you could merely outrun them now that they don't have mounts. You're not totally faster than any of them, however you aren't affected by endurance or getting tired so probably no more than 10 minutes and they'd have to give up chasing you. Maybe less. The only thing to consider is that if you are going to totally flee and leave them behind, you won't be able to double back and recollect the numbing slime residue. It's not a huge loss, but it's less slime you'll have in the end.>How do you proceed?Adriana meanwhile, she hung back when the orcs approached, so she can just keep pace at a distance behind to follow you all but avoid being noticed.
>>2620588We can give up the residue. It's enough that they stopped the mounts. Let's just keep outpacing them for a day, then change direction.
>>2620595Well it wouldn't even need to be a day, by nightfall you'll have well lost them. So within a couple hours you feel confident to have given any orcs the slip, and are now yourself, a number of slimes, and Adriana. Your call, where you want to head now that you're not fleeing anywhere particular.
>>2620607All right. Take a turn and move for a while, then after that, turn and head towards the academy.Gotta give 'em at least two vectors to get lost on.
>>2620608I'm up. And second.
Posting works again, in case anyone tried recently and couldn't.
>>2621395Weird. Oh well.>>2620608>>2620694You chance directions then a few times, although you're not escaping it seems like good sense to do so that you can ensure not being tracked further. Eventually then because of your indirect path, by the early hours of morning the next day you are able to reach the academy without much trouble. The path there, once out of the forest, wasn't all that notable anyway, mostly rolling hills and fields let alone that you were traveling at night.Well, you're finally here at least. All 10 oversized chunks of you, as well as Adriana. It is of course nice to visit a familiar place after all that trouble with the orcs, but you can't just barge in yet. At least, have to wait till you can be let in.>How do you proceed?
>>2622059all right, let's wait with our slimes.Adriana, do you want any of this mass? You cool? We've been running around for a couple days and didn't bring any snacks, so top off as you like. It's the middle of the week, so we can't really do an all day visit, but we can say good morning to folks before their classes, then keep on going.
>>2622074oh, and mount a slime rock cam on a nearby tree with a view of the academy.I want to know if there's trouble here in the future.
>>2622059First, let's tell the gate guard that we're here to see Carter. Then we'll try to remember where his room is and give him a building size wake up surprise outside his window. Just make sure you don't barge into his room, lest he drowns in us, or have him fall out of his window. After that, let's hang out with our old friends, give some of our slime to Maribelle for testing and safe storage, and have Carter visit our home for a change.
>>2622082it's the middle of the week, but we can ask for him to visit us on the weekend, yeah. The rest of this seems solid.
>>2622082>>2622092>>2622079>>2622074Adriana is fine with sharing the slime, and in fact if you're trying to enter into the academy, perhaps it would be best for you to lose mass and return to "normal" size? Essentially just swap places with her while you're here. You do consider with all your mass making a big surprise to Carter, and such a thing could be possible if you wanted to. However his room window faces outwards from the interior of the institute you recall, so if you wanted to do such a surprise it would mean not going inside but around the outside. Though, you have to imagine there's probably magical defenses in place so that some giant monster doesn't just try to get into dorm rooms. But whether or not you still want to, there's the totally viable plan of at least spending the morning here on your way back. And, it would be possible you imagine to make a stop by the menagerie to pay Maribelle a visit to go over potential slime matters. She doesn't always have morning classes so this might be a convenient day.>Interested in any of these?
>>2622208Yes. The last bit especially. We can give Adriana our spare slime for now and talk shop for a bit with Maribelle and visit Carter.
>>2622208Well, let's go to where his window is, pick up a couple of small stones, and get him to look out the window to surprise him. Just don't try to break anything. Or better yet, have a guard send a message to him to look out the window to see us. Then after that, we give our slime to Adriana and visit Maribelle.
>>2622235>>2622245I'm content with this stuff, really.Hell, maybe we can show off with our size on the way out, or just point to adrianna.
>>2622320I'd at least would like to do some jumbo sized snuggling before we leave, tho...
>>2622369whatever floats your boat man, sure.
>>2622245>>2622320>>2622235A fair middle ground where you meet with a gate guard and ask for what seems like a strange request; not to be let in but for a message to be delivered to a specific person to look outside their window? You of course orient yourself around to the proper side in your huge slimy form and wait eagerly, till sure enough there's a sleepy Carter to look out the window for you to greet with a good morning. Though, the sight of you isn't easily missed and several other folks happen to see outside their window and think a giant monster is attacking. All you care about though is Carter, whom after making sure he's not dreaming, greets you. Or, shouts to you."Honey, not to ruin your morning, but I think you're putting on weight."Hmmm.... supposing you were to dissolve him...In any case you can swap the mass then with Adriana upon returning back around to the front and enter in as normal, to meet with your friends and cheeky loved one. At least over breakfast, till classes there are to get along to. Maribelle though, as you find indeed doesn't have morning class."Back so soon Sadie? Brought me something good?"She's all ears as always, though what did you have in mind to discuss with her about? That is in or not in relation to the huge amount of slime outside?
>>2622511Well, we might have something for the future we wanted to discuss with you.Uhhh...what do you know about slime reproducing? I was thinking...slimes have a really...well, their rep is kinda deserved, but I kinda got this nutty idea- what do you think if there were...y'know, more of me? Well, not me, but like. Other slimes. That think. I was hoping to, uh...expand my family, I guess? In a way- okay I was thinking about multiplying and developing my own separate race. I want you to be a part of it.
>>2622518maybe cut out asking her to be part of the race, that shit's creepy.also>>2622511yeah, we've got a huge amount of slime we got from an ill thought out slime heist. Does she know anywhere we could store a huge volume of slime?
mostly though, we want permission to start using blue in more trials. It's the only non-related slime we have.
>>2622522I meant as in 'help us plan out how to form it'.
>>2622527ah, that's WAY less creepy.
>>2622518>>2622522A rather strange line of questioning, but Maribelle has no doubts about you. If you have an inkling to formulate more slimes, well from her perspective that can only be a good thing for slimes! You'd make a better name for them for sure than what they currently are. She has no idea how she'd help with that, but as long as it won't get her sacked from the academy here she'd be willing. As for where to store all the slime, well she supposes you could find someplace underground as slimes tend to dwell. If you're worried about being found there's always extra-dimensional spaces, but that's pretty complicated magic. Interestingly she has spaces like that here in the menagerie, she could create an ideal space for your slime to dwell. However, that would more or less put the whole idea at the mercy of the academy, not to mention that you'd be unable to just access the slime whenever you want. It's a compromise really.Lastly, for blue, well she can't approve you doing dangerous things or taking it, but she supposes she could look the other way if you just like, sliced it in half and took one with you.
>>2622644you're the best. We only need a little bit of blue in a bottle for experimentation, anyway. How's the dragon been doing?
>>2622661Anyway, That blue is going to be super useful as a color marker for figuring out how the fuck slime genetics work.
Also, now that we don't have to go incognito, we should try to figure out slime harnesses for wagons.Cut out all the middlemen and just have 'em run for us.
>>2622666It's not a bad idea but off the top of your head, the best you could manage is control some slimes to make use of self-image and basically appear humanoid to pull a cart as a team. But that would look strange as hell not to mention you may want to clothe them despite being mindless.Something to consider, as you thank Maribelle for her time and help, and make an effort to chop blue in half and bottle it up. Out of curiosity you ask after Dran, as you haven't seen him around. Maribelle is a little flustered about that and admits that she thinks he has something sweet for one of those eastern dragons. As such he's been disappearing into the former yeti enclosure for long periods of time, as in the state of disrepair that it is in, it's malfunctioning as an actual portal to the far east rather than just an enclosed space imitating it.Not much she can do about it though, he's a growing dragon and even then she can't physically stop him. She just hopes he doesn't get his heart broken by some fickle snakey-dragon temptress. Thankfully she has a lot to keep busy with, keep her mind from worrying constantly, like your own problems and ideas now.>How do you want to proceed?
>>2622674ohmigawd, dragon romance, that's fucking adorable. Wish him luck for me!And tell her slimecart is still in testing, but designs are looking up.We just need to get another one because our last one was smashed.Anyway, we can't really talk to everyone today because it's a weekday. So thank her for her time and get going back to our goblin home. I think this was a very successful outing. Might make some trouble down the line, but all objectives accomplished and hardly anybody died. I bet the goblins miss us.
>>2622681Pretty much this.
>>2622681>>2622688Sure sure, that's good then yeah. Make a roll for the trip back home, who knows.
>>2622700Last roll of the night for me.Also, we should check out Renee's book hut once we get back, so we can get first crack at any new shipments of books she's received recently.
Rolled 70 (1d100)>>2622707>Forgot rollFigures.
Rolled 71 (1d100)>>2622700ere we go
Rolled 20 (1d100)>>2622700Away we go. TIME FOR SCIENCE.
>>2622734>>2622711>>2622709>71Fortunately for you it seems, all the trouble was left back with the orcs. No hostile attackers, no scared passerbys, just a peaceful enough shlorp back west to the forest and outcast village there, and home. You pass by some commoners along the way through the fields and over hills but most just stare in disbelief. Now then, you can reach home by nightfall, or rather the outskirts of the village. But, how do you want to actually get home, assuming you even want to? Do you want to just slime on in with your colossal slimy mass and hope you don't cause damage, wait outside of town for something else, or maybe leave the slime somewhere?>How do you proceed?
>>2622743Well, we'll have to camp out here for the night.Adriana can go inside tonight, we'll switch off tomorrow if we've not got a solution yet.we've gotta commission a LOT of barrels tomorrow to store all this excess. I don't trust the ork's slime pit technology.
>>2622749That and the whole experimenting thing.
>>2622761Yeah. We gotta see what traits and behaviors blue slime already has, then see what happens to it after it mates with one of our slimes, and what abilities the offspring has.Let's start with basic things. How well can it digest? Can it do bones like us? How well can it adhere? Can it climb walls? What traits DOES a blue slime have that a pink slime doesn't? Is it water resistant? After we figure out those, we can mix and match and see what the kids got.
>>2622761>>2622749That's fair, Adriana can return for now while you hide out in the woods. She's more invested in the town anyway, what with Jean and her greater involvement in the healing business.>>2622765As far as you can tell, blue slime hasn't advanced at all since when it first killed "you". It's still just a simple, acidic slime which dissolves things at a slow pace compared to you, and can climb alright but not as well as you.To your observations, it's more or less just a blank slate, or at least it's an un-improved slate. If you had to guess, the part of you that makes you intelligent probably has something to do with improvements. Since blue isn't intelligent, either it can't, or simply doesn't know, to improve itself. If you can remember all the way back to how you used to be when you started out as just a puddle, that's basically the same as what blue is now, only a difference in color now.So then, if you're staying out here all night, indeed you can experiment away. Any preferences, or perhaps an idea/description of the experiment(s) you want to try, if any?
>>2622781well, first thing is first. Make a control blue slime that won't be involved with the experiments, in case our experiment slime is compromised in any way.second thing is second, put it and one of our slimes in a contained area and have them try that mating thing blue slime tried on us way way back.Do we get one blue slime, one pink slime, and a purple slime? Three purple slimes? One large purple slime? Basic safety stuff like that. From there, we can try making slimes with specified groups of skills and see how genetic drift happens in slime kiddos.
>>2622785Basically this.
Rolled 1 (1d2)>>2622785>>2622801First off then you create a little enclosed area to conduct some experiments, then cut your portion of blue in half again. It takes you a few attempts to get things right, like the first time you put a slime of yours in and the blue one just kills and absorbs it because the blue is acidic and at your resting state you're just neutral. Eventually though with care and different attempts you get it right, in what is... more than anything just an odd display. The two slimes of approximate size and equal acidity, shlorp around the enclosure till the run into each other and attempt to attack. When they reach a stalemate, they shlorp against each other for a bit, and then...
>>2622807...eventually, but slowly they kind of just merge into one another to create a doubly large and sort of lighter blue, darker pink, or off-purple depending on how you look at it. There's some shlorping and glorping for a bit, before the slime separates and they both now have the same color, and go back to exploring around the enclosure. You can't tell much else, other than that, you now have a sense of them both rather than only your own.>How do you proceed?
>>2622809so... they didn't actually make a third slime? They simply did a trait transfer?I don't see how this is different from a normal trait transfer. Let's see what abilities they have. See if they can change corrosion, what things they can eat, whether they can heal stuff, and how far a range they have on ringleader. This should be a good comparison to base. Then we re-incorporate the mass, allow blue time to grow, and try it again a few times. Do you always get two slimes? Do you sometimes get one, or three? Are they always evenly distributed traitwise? As it stands trying to make a new slime with adriana might just merge and resplit us again, which would suck.
>>2622809So on some level there is a sense of merger- but they combine traits to form something unique, and then split apart as copies of the new unique slime. Curious.That...may cause a bit of issue in developing unique new slimes. It seems like they/we are predisposed to a fusion-to-fission sort of method of reproduction. What we'd want is a method that keeps Subjects A and B independent, but also creates a Subject C. I wonder if this means they have essentially modified themselves to be the same, however, or if it's more of a surface change, so to speak. We'll have to see if perhaps they naturally retain ANYTHING uniquely individual...or if not naturally, then if there's a way it could be influenced.
Rolled 1, 2, 1, 2 = 6 (4d2)>>2622813>>2622815You can carefully try examine the both of them, since really you can't tell the difference anymore. Interestingly, it seems that the color was the only change for the most part, and your slime sort of just "caught up" the blue slime to what it had so that they're both equal. The one main standout it seems, is that the very few traits the blue slime had, which your slime also possessed (like acidity) are now doubled if you had to guess. So immensely more acidic, able to climb much better, dissolve things much better, better in fact in those areas than your slime already could. You're not sure by those standards if you want to try absorbing them though, because now the both of them are more acidic than you are able to become, so they would actually start dissolving you. You can make a decision about that later. For now you try some more experiments, growing your control group blue back up each time before cutting up. A few more times, let's say 4. What you find is...
>>2622823...all of the results are the same unfortunately. It seems your mindless slimes just only invest as much as the blue slimes would so always just merge and "equalize" traits between them and boost what they both already had. If there's anything more to slime "mating" then either it must be rare, or mindless slimes aren't capable of doing it. Probably just like how normal slimes are really basic in their motives of just searching, eating, etc... so too are they in this and just perform the most basic example of it. That's just your guess though, that could be really all there is to it.
>>2622823Oh shit, unexpected benefit.Steal that acidity trait from those slimes. They're loyal, and can turn it down on command to make the transfer possible.>>2622826Weird. So it always makes two slimes?I guess the advantage to this compared to normal trait transfer is it can produce hax levels of a single trait, allowing for super acid slimes.
>>2622826>>2622835gah. I really hope this isn't impossible.I think what we'd need is some kind of emulsifier or...hm. I'm not sure. Maybe intelligence is the key?
>>2622835>>2622839The only thing is, you can't seem to command them to change color. Do you still want to try absorbing them?
>>2622841Can we command them to do other things?Test to see if they actually have lowered their acidity by seeing if they damage a normal pink mini slime on contact.
>>2622845Anyway, we should wait to absorb their traits until we get most of our slime mass to adriana in the morning and have her be a witness to the experiment. We'll probably just gain extra acidity, but best to be on the safe side and have a bruiser overlooking the experiment when it happens.
>>2622845No no, everything else you can control and command just as normal, including toning down their acidity and all. Just not the color, for whatever reason.
>>2622848huh.Yeah, we'll absorb their traits, but only once we get giant adriana to observe.I predict we gain traits and also maybe change color, but who knows, we could go nuts or something. We've not gotten traits from a non-intelligent slime before, only given.
>>2622841>>2622848Hm. Well, that's interesting, but...>>2622850What do we do with this knowledge going forward? So far, it seems like the color at the very least is something independently changed from the other traits, as we have no control over it. We'd need to identify what makes the difference there and try to replicate that in other areas of development.Hmm...Adriana was separated from us with intelligence. We're trying to figure out a way that we could create new versions of us with similar intelligence, just lacking our vices- or at the very least vices for a specific individual. I wonder if there's a way to sort of 'bud' off alternatives of us. Like, a version of us but with specific traits missing or altered. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that method of reproduction, but it's all I can think of at the moment. We might need to get creative if we want slimes that can reproduce imperfectly......actually, maybe that might be part of the idea! Both slimes are stable when they fuse, right? What if one of them ends up UNstable? Not enough to really risk their live, but enough that their traits are kinda more or less likely to crop up in a fusion? Kinda like a real roulette wheel? Maybe that'll be possible!...Still has the problem of 'not modifying the 'parent/parents' at the end, though.
>>2622863Right now, making a slime race looks like something we're going to have to put off until we at least don't have a boyfriend, weirdly enough.Or figure out the merging problem. The best use of this knowledge I can find is an easy ass exploit to spam up slime powers to infinite levels, and I'm looking foreward to seeing what kind of instability or hard caps that has. First we see if we can even gain traits from slimes at all, which we're doing in the morning, and then we see how strong exactly we can MAKE a slime via breeding descendants against each other to multiply acidity over and over.
>>2622872Aaagh. But if we decide to go all the way with him, then that's not really going to change, is it? Even if we marry him we're going to be attracted to him-and thus all our 'descendants' will as well.
>>2622875yep. We might have to wait 'till he's dead then make a species of widows.
>>2622882I REFUSE. This is why I wanted to talk to Maribelle, though. I figured she might have some input on the situation.
>>2622884Well, I've got no ideas on what exactly to ask her about. I'm not sure how to go about solving this one here. Especially since any failed experiment means one more sadie running around.
>>2622890Basically if she knew anything about slime reproduction as well as modification of slime traits. We could maybe use that as a jumping off point, if possible. Worst comes to worst, it could involve allowing her to do some science with our help.I'm trying to avoid recreating the full circumstances that led to our gaining sapience.Perhaps relative intelligence of a creature has to be involved? In such case, I wonder if we can't feed them the brain of something like...like a crow or the sort, something intelligent yet still animal, and then maybe infuse a bit of ourselves in order to jumpstart their mental faculties.
>>2622902We should look into what spell, exactly, we fucked up casting when we became a slime.
>>2622903Might be an avenue, yeah. Dunno if anyone will know exactly, but we can at least gain a few clues if we talk to the right people, I think. Something to do for the weekend.I guess until then, continue our personal experiments and handle our daily life.
>>2622904yep.And send a ninja to investigate with a big bounty if she finds anything.
Oh, I know.>>2622848We should try remote sensing a slime that is in the mating process, and see if our connection gets cut off, or what exactly is going on in there.
>>2622909Oh, that's clever. Worth a shot.
I think it'd be good to look into seriously boosting Decay to preserve all our kaijelly. We should at least try to pick up more levels of it next time those goblins bring us bodies. Adrianna can ferry us update slimes if we're not there.Kinda wish we'd taken over the pit blob and stayed in the pit. I'm sure some of what they were feeding it was bodies.
>>2624085kaijelly?
>>2624089It was a pun on kaiju and jelly. In hindsight I should also have talked about jam preserves.
Ey ey eySo... what's the plan? I mean as I read over all since last time, but if anyone has a succinct idea.
>>2624217Er, I think the plan is to do >>2622909 for now, then just doctor the days away until either the ninja shows up, or the weekend where we can go to the Academy and Maribelle, and ask a couple questions about both slime reproduction and see if she could help us out- and see about figuring out what spell we messed up when we died.
>>2624217Oh, sorry, Thread wasn't updating. Let's do a last slime mating trial with remote sense, then wait until adriana wakes to try to take traits from the new breed of purple slimes. See if it works, while she has most of the slime in case it goes wrong.
>>2624217I think it's time to go mad with power. Let's copy our consciousness into the purple slime and then mate with it.Me am play gods!
>>2622863>>2622850>>2624260>>2624264You have some sense then to hold off on absorbing the test slimes till Adriana gets there. In the meantime though, one more experiment then, using remote sense on a slime through the process. The experience is... strange to say the least. For one thing the slime is as just a gloopy blob which you're not used to, but ashamed as you might be to admit, you can share sensations since you have senses and remote sensing that high, it's oddly satisfying and enjoyable. Kind of like that special feeling of holding and being held close with Carter, kissing and being all lovey dovey. Though less the actual physical sensation but rather like, that fuzzy elated feel in your heart. Something like that, distributed throughout the entire form, in this case the slime blob as is congeals and mixes with the blue slime. Maybe it's misplaced, but for some reason you feel a little guilty for it. All for the pursuit of slime knowledge though, yes? No nobler cause. The really interesting thing though is that it's very hard for you to do, takes a ton of focus and concentration, but you're actually able to maintain the remote sense through the same slime the whole time, so that when they separate, despite them being identical you can tell which one is which compared to before the process.Strange, well then just wait till the next visit from Adriana? You're off in the woods, maybe you want to seek a better location for yourself and the mass of slime if this is going to be an ongoing thing? Partly for organizational purposes, but mostly so some strangers don't happen upon a giant slime monster in the woods and freak out?
>>2624276Maybe we should head over to a carpenter and hire him to build us a barn and a bunch of barrels for slime storage, guys. Sleeping outdoors is not a good idea, what with the bandits and chance of getting stuck in a downpour. Also, maybe we should try heading to that bandit tavern that we heard about a while back and see about improving ourselves.
>>2624276huh, I guess they at least maintain individual slime tracking models numbers. That's neat. And yeah, we want to do the adriana observing slime trait transfer test first, but after that we GOTTA find a place to store this shit.I'm thinking we either commission a whole load of barrels, or get narrion to start digging a slime hole with her skeletons. Depending on you know, how many barrels it would take.
>>2624285I can agree with a barn and barrels. We need storage solutions. We've got too much mass to go off hunting right now though. I feel fat.
>>2624301Hon, haven't you heard? Men these days prefer some extra ooze in their slimegirls. Besides, it doesn't take much to look good when you can shift what you got where you need it.
>>2624318Nobody look at me I'm 5 tons abloo hoo
>>2624287Well less literal tracking numbers and more you were just able to maintain remote sense of the same one. If you looked away and had them swap places a bunch, you'd not be able to tell them apart again. So a storage barn it is then? What if you get bigger than that though? Ah, that probably won't happen. Well anyway, you want to have Adriana take care of that then, the business side of the request? You imagine it could take awhile though, probably more than a week for a barn to be set up basically off in the middle of the woods.
>>2624285>>2624333Yeah, honestly might as well.
>>2624333We can't necessarily get into town to do it ourselves, yeah. We're indisposed.Though, I want to do that slime trait test with her supervising while being superhuge. see if we can get a whole buncha corrossion offa them.
>>2624333Ask him if it'll be possible to dig out a basement later, or maybe expand upon it if we need to.Also, maybe a super sized tub-bed for us as well.
I look foreward to this slime barn. It'll save a lot of storage problems in the future.
>>2624337>>2624344>>2624351Well, by morning of the next day, Adriana returns to your spot in the woods to catch up on what's going. A point of interest she didn't expect, but some representative approached her at home. Apparently from the lake town (where a lot of trouble happened), their own mage guild is interested in seeking you to visit and stay with them as a guest, and possibly stay on permanently if you'd be so kind. Apparently, although you (or at least Adriana) caused a lot of destruction for the town, the mage guild itself doesn't care as much as how interesting/useful you could be, particularly when they started hearing rumors of you doing healing work.Otherwise, you cooperate with her to sort this matter out, and with her having most of the mass you try reabsorbing the slimes. As it turns out, indeed you do actually gain the amplified abilities from these slimes. However in the process you also change color. "Look at you, you're not pink anymore! You look so strange! Now I'm the real Sadie!"But yes, you do have improved abilities which these mixed slimes had.>How do you proceed?
>>2624369I thought you were Adriana~?Hm. Well, that's one 'mystery' solved, even though the big one isn't.As for the mage thing...I don't think we want to stay on permanently. But it'd be nice to visit, I think. Who knows, maybe they'll be able to help us with our reproduction issue. After all, we could use good relations with such powerful individuals when we start our kingdom.
>>2624369Give her the enhanced abilities we've learned from the slimes, by playfully chasing her around like we're a tomboy who's trying to show her prim and proper sister the frog she's caught. After that, head back to the clinic and see to healing clients and receiving new bodies.
>>2624369back from making tacos. Huh. Well, that's real neat. We've got a lot more slime corrosion now.Adrianna, you want in on this? It might make you purple. And yeah, visiting lake town again would be super fun. Though, I'm worried. Won't they like, lynch us?
>>2624322If we're talking about an olympic swimming pool it's about two and a half thousand tons of slime. The size of a house! That's a silly amount of slime.
>>2624410jesus christ. We're going to have to be on a diet for MONTHS.
>>2624386You try to do just that, but she wallops you with a solid swing of mass, sending you flying and splatting into a tree."Keep away, I don't want to turn purple!">>2624396>>2624410Wait you want to return to the village as a giant slime monster? Otherwise what, are you just leaving the slime out here?
>>2624414We're not heading to the village right NOW. After slime barn construction is done. Also, start bickering with adriana about how purple is a perfectly fine color.
>>2624414>You try to do just that, but she wallops you with a solid swing of mass, sending you flying and splatting into a tree.Wait, I thought we were the one who had all the mass?
>>2624417no, we gave it to her for this test in case we went nutso. And don't overreact, it's just slime fun and games. Blunt force trauma is nothing to us.
>>2624417No, we let her borrow a lot of it.
Anyway, once we get mass back from adriana, let's send her into town to get barn construction underway. We can kill time by sitting at the edge of the town and talking with folk who come to gawk or get healing.
>>2624425>>2624423>>2624415You want to wait the time it takes for the barn to get set up? That could take a week or more!
>>2624423>>2624420Oh, yeah, I forgot. And don't worry, I'm not that petty.>"You do realize that we could probably just eat another body from our goblin friends and we could change our color any time we wanted, right? Anyway, don't worry about it. You'd still look good in purple. Or is it that Jean said you looked cute in pink?"
>>2624426well, it's not like we can do much else. We've got a LOT of slime and it's irresponsible to leave it be.I'm sure the lake mages will understand if we're held up from visiting by slime troubles. And we can break it up with a visit to the academy, which will be fun.Basically, our biggest problem right now is killing time and not crushing anybody until excess slime storage is done.>>2624427And color talk.
>>2624426Let's do barrel construction first, then barn building. But yeah, guys, we might have to let some of this mass go. Let's find a stream and lose some of this extra weight.
>>2624426So then what do we do with the excess slime, is the question! We don't have a repository, we wanted Adriana as well as ourselves to go. We can't just leave it be for obvious reasons. And we still need to go to the Academy, so there's that, as well as the ninja orcess meeting. Not a lot else we can really do at the moment, unless we're missing something obvious to you.
>>2624433...Actually yeah I completely forgot water dissolves us. We could burn off a bit, huh?>>2624430Wanna just do that to the point we're just abnormally tall instead? Say about 8-10 feet tallish?
>>2624434>>2624433>>2624430I'm just wondering if you're content to sit around till the barn, or something halfway (like barrels) is done, or if you wanted to shlorp around as a slime giant doing something particular.
>>2624434We are kind of bound to the house for the next week or so to set up the ork ninja meeting anyway, we can't even go yet.I say we just wait it out. We can get barrels made like >>2624433says, and then put them in the barn when it's done.>>2624436It seems a waste of perfectly good slime. I mean, we've got to stay here for the week anyway to set up the meeting, why not get slime out of the deal?
>>2624437I'm content to sit around. Not much we can do in this intervening time, and we get to be a giant sitting at the edge of town for a week, which'll be fun.Maybe the goblins will have something interesting for us while we're here.
>>2624439M'kay, just wondering. I'll back this. Get barrels made, store slime, just live life for a bit. If we can send a letter to them explaining the issue and locking down a date, that'd be great, actually.
>>2624442I don't mind settling on 8 feet tall when we're done though, tall ladies are always fun.>>2624437Actually, we could try making about human sized slimes, and having them push carts. What does it look like when we have a mindless slime use self image? Is it just a copy of us? How many of them does it take to push a cart?
>>2624442>>2624441Make a roll then, for storage purposes.
Rolled 40 (1d100)>>2624444Storage roll. Also trying to see if we can get permission to push someone's wagon around with a team of what might be slime babes for testing purposes.
>>2624437We definitely need to see the bookstore for new books, but other then and seeing if the gang has any more bodies for us, let's do >>2624439.
Rolled 49 (1d100)>>2624444
Rolled 100 (1d100)>>2624444Rollin rolling. Barrel blast.>What does it look like when we have a mindless slime use self image? Is it just a copy of us? How many of them does it take to push a cart?...Huh. Good question!
Rolled 7 (1d100)>>2624444Rolling for slime barrels.Check with the goblin mayor if he needs any trees cleared or whatever. If they need an area cleared for fields or new construction we'd be a big (hurr) help.
>>2624449I guess we get a REALLY GOOD barn?
>>2624449OHHHHHHHHHHH MY GOD SO AWESOMEBUT SO MINORAAUUGHH I'M STILL HAPPY WHATEVER
>>2624450badum-tsh.And yeah, actually, now that we have a slime barn, we can sell giant services. Like tree clearing. And being massive.Well, as long as we keep a good supply of slime.>>2624452Genuine dwarven work on that barn, or some shit. It's super secure and got lots of storage space.
>>2624449>100Well well, whatever you may have in mind in relation to storage, could well be possible!
>>2624449We just got the barn version of Mordenkainen's Instant Fortress.
>>2624456Big ol' barn, with a basement, sturdy as hell, holds a huge amount of barrels. The barrels themselves are tough as heck, and almost certainly won't have slime escapes.Maybe an extra room off to the side somewhere with a couple beds in case we have to store extra visitors. I mean, barns are for that, traditionally, but we don't have any soft hay. Hell, maybe the barn itself is made o' stone.Anyone got any luxury requests on the barn?
>>2624456I think we want plenty of basement space, big compartments, sturdy doors and pipes humans couldn't pass through to let us transfer slime reserves around.I think we should seriously consider making another Sadie as warehouse manager too.
>>2624456How about something like this, but it's a barn or warehouse?https://open5e.com/equipment/magic-items/instant-fortress.html
>>2624461oh, piping is a good idea. Another sadie, well, I'd be making tons of them if it wasn't for the carter dilemma.
>>2624460A jumbo sized tub bed, for when we need a place to stay in giant slimegirl form.A small pool for healing slime therapy for patents.
>>2624466These are both fair additions, along with pipe rigging.I think maybe some passing dwarves built this place. Or that gobbo inventor. Or both.
>>2624460>>2624461These are possible, either by random fluke discovery, unfortunate sale, or dwarven construction!>>2624462Or this, something more magical in nature if you prefer, like an extra-dimensional space.
>>2624456>>2624458What I was thinking was something like a two, possibly three floor barn- the bottommost area having a 'basement' area which is really mostly just a massive storage area for barrels of slime (or whatever else we want) and a split off area for other stuff of ours that's not slime. The main floor is a more home-ish area, or at least an area that has room for creature comforts. One main area, and a few areas separated off for guest areas. The second floor is mostly for view and personal experimentation and 'bedroom' areas.>>2624461>>2624465>>2624466>>2624468And while typing this you guys came up with great ideas so all that, too.
>>2624471This is mostly a slime storage building, so it'd have to be a pretty cavernous basement if so much is being dedicated to creature comforts.I don't mind some slime tubs of various sizes for treatment or slime relaxation, though.
>>2624478and SOME creature comforts.
>>2624478>>2624480Fair.
>>2624470Oh high ceilings too. We're pretty bad at moving around while huge, it'd be good to practice.
>>2624483Yeah.Though like, a room in the loft area that farms usually have would fit in nice for visitors or just extra living space.
Ok ok, I have a nasty idea bear with me...>>2624470>100Well, you have your huge mass to consider, while Adriana wishes you the best for now, transferring it back before returning for now. Your mind races with possibilities, on what to do with all this slime, but you don't have a huge amount of time to think, when about two hours later say, you get a rude introduction by a flying spell that wings you in the giant slime head."There you are! Do you- whoah! Be still! Do you have any idea how rude it is to keep someone like me waiting?! And not just- wagh! Still I said, damnit! Not just for seconds or minutes, but several days! You had better be worth it, or I swear- eep! If I have to cast a petrifying ritual on you to keep still, so help me!"Sliming your way around you're witness to one of the odder sights in recent memory. A witchy young woman if you had to guess by her attire and use of a decent sized stick with a dream catcher at the end to cast spells. She's clearly having a hard time though with her "mount", a cauldron big enough for her to more than fit in, itself propped up and walking around on a pair of rickety patchwork metal arms and legs. Clearly though it is very unstable and sways precariously all around, with an occasional heavy lurch in trying to keep/correct itself from falling over, which causes great distress to the witch. "My fellow witch sister told me about a slime monster, I figured you'd make a good familiar! Now then, are you going to come quietly, or will I have to blast you?!">How do you proceed?
>>2624540Mess with her a bit. What does being a familiar involve? What are the perks?
>>2624540>"Excuse me, but I don't give out my slime for free. I can accommodate you, but treating me like a thing to be owned is not going to convince me to serve you like a customer. Now, if you'd like to do business, calm down and follow me."
>>2624540But I'm already the slime witch. I can't be a familiar if I'm a witch. See?And then do some prestidigitation. And I've got to stay here until the slime storage site is done. Can't let the slime be on its own, it'll rampage, dontchaknow.
>>2624540...This isn't a barn. I wanted a barn.>>2624547>>2624548These two.
>>2624550I also don't mind messing with her a bit. What do you even do with a familiar? If I was a witch, would I need a familiar?
>>2624540Also, is she the one who sent the message from lake town?
>>2624545>>2624547>>2624548"Excuse me, but I don't give out my slime for free. I can accommodate you, but treating me like a thing to be owned is not going to convince me to serve you like a customer. Now, if you'd like to do business, calm down and follow me."Before you can continue, another spell smacks you right in the face. And in the literal sense, a gust tears through the trees to form a giant hand out of leaves, and backhand you with immense force before dispersing again."Silence familiar! I'll not tolerate- gah! Stop wobbling! I'll not tolerate impudence from my new slime servant! Now then, show your neck and submit that I may magically- uagh! How hard can it be to stand still?! That I may magically bind you, like a good familiar! Don't worry, you'll love it! All my former familiars all loved it, up until they died! Get the picture?"In preparation for something, she begins tracing some sort of visible spell seal in the air before her with her wand. Or, as best as she can, unsteadily from atop her mount.>>2624557Unless it was a total ruse, likely not since according to Adriana it was a mages guild and they tend not to involve undisciplined caster types like witches or warlocks. Like the academy for example, they don't have any currently practicing witches. Often too dangerous, often too fickle.
>>2624565*Sigh*Can we move, goop her, pin her down or something? I'm in no mood for this.Seriously, I just wanted my barn and for things to keep kicking because I won't be available for like, a month after Thursday.
>>2624565I'm pretty tempted to just eat her. Let's try to swat her.
>>2624565Give her a slime flick to interrupt the spell.Stop that. We're our own witch, we're not your slime familiar. And we don't have a neck. Aren't there rules about witches not bothering other witches?
>>2624565>>2624570Remember that suggestion that we give the orc woman all the slime she can eat?Let's do that here and fill her to the brim with healing slime.
>>2624570My feelings are hurt that you don't trust me. Also it's not even Wednesday.
>>2624578Yeah, I'm just in the middle of moving things, is all. It's hectic and I feel like I have no time.>>2624573This, then.
>>2624577>>2624573>>2624572>>2624570A fair middle ground, you consider eating her for the trouble, or just getting her to cut it out. As a compromise, to stop the spell at least, you surge towards her and predictably shlorp into the cauldron, knocking the rickety thing over and causing the witch to tumble out in a yelping mess when the thing hits the ground. Disoriented as she is, you're able to quickly glop her with a shapeshifted arm and shove a bunch of slime down her gullet till you have to stop from her potentially suffocating."-bleuarg! Wh-What did you do to me?! I-Is there... slime inside? Get it out! Get it out!"Holding her gut she tries to cough it up but to no avail, like trying to retch up tar. Well, tar you can control."There, now stop bothering me. I'm my own witch, not a familiar. Aren't you not supposed to bother other witches?"Visibly ill and furious at the same time, she screams in despair while searching agonizingly for her wand to possibly come up with some spell to cast."You're n-no witch! I bet you've never even k-known of a coven! M-My sister... you crossed paths... she t-told me you weren't a witch anyway! Unless... she lied to me... no! No, y-you'll pay for this, I'll punish you!"In her distress, she's not on top her her game as she fumbles and stumbles around, seeking what she perceives to be her lifeline of magical assistance for her wand.>How do you proceed?
>>2624591Might I ask just who your sister was?
>>2624591Sit her down, tell her to calm down. You'll get the slime out if she just is a good guest. Why does she even want a slime familiar?
>>2624593Oh, and find and take her wand.
>>2624591Also, tell her you do too have the start of a coven. You've got your slime sister. Also, I don't think your sister knew I was a witch? Or didn't believe me.
>>2624591Nudge the wand out of reach. Order the slime inside her to start jumping to see if that incapacitates her.I am still tempted to eat her - witches are a danger to themselves and others - but better confirm which witch is the sister first.
>>2624602I like witches, myself. Long as they're not causin' me trouble.
>>2624591"The only reason why my slime isn't eating you from the inside out is because I haven't told it to yet.""'Yet' is quite important for you to understand in this situation, you know~"
>>2624597First and foremost you can incapacitate her by getting the slime inside to start jumping and surging around, pretty much causing a terrible sensation in her stomach which makes her double over. With that, you can find her wand much more easily since you're much higher up, to take it and dangle above her so that she'll calm down. Well, relatively calm down."Might I ask just who your sister was?""Y-You... you met some time ago, she had been captured by hunters and you freed her... that's what she t-told me at least. But you also stopped her from cursing those hunters... she was bitter about that."Hmm, you can recall an encounter with a rather nasty, fickle witch whom was disguising herself as a goat, that you accidentally freed. The coincidence would be too high if that weren't her. "The only reason why my slime isn't eating you from the inside out is because I haven't told it to yet. Yet' is quite important for you to understand in this situation, you know~"She stares at you menacingly, but it's pretty weak and you can sense the despair of her knowing about the situation, and a belly full of dangerous slime."Wretch... if I'd had known you'd be so d-dangerous, you'd never have gotten the drop on me! I could have had a nice slime familiar and you'd be happy in servitude, they all are. I'd be the t-talk of all the covens around, a slime familiar!"More and more the reality of the situation sinks in, as you sort-of sit together, more like she struggles against the difficulty of the stomach slime while you just shlorp nearby holding up the wand. She won't beg for her life, but..."Wh-What... what do you want? You'll let me go i-if... if I do something for you?">How do you proceed?
>>2624618Well, how about an exchange of favors. You help me out with building my slime storage facility, and maybe help me get in contact with greater witch society, and we can be friends.Being friends includes stuff like, say, getting a free blob of slime to experiment on to your hearts content. Like you said- you'd be the talk of the covens if you had the first slime familiar on the block.Well, that and removal of the slime from your guts without any death.
>>2624618"Really, I just want to be left in peace. I don't actually enjoy causing pain, despite what you might think. I prefer to heal rather than injure. As for your sister? I don't have any quarrel with her, OR you, honestly. Although I'm rather frustrated and annoyed that you'd come after me out of essentially nowhere. I'm particularly concerned now about the risk of it happening again. You understand my dilemma, surely? I'm sorry, I really don't intend to sound mean or intimidating- I've just had quite the number of attempts on my gelatinous person and it's getting tiresome.""That said, although I don't enjoy threatening, I suppose you could do me a favor? I've a storage facility I was considering getting built. Perhaps you could help with that?"Basically >>2624628. put it in while I was typing.
>>2624618What does she have to offer? We are very cross about her attacking us out of nowhere.
>>2624628>>2624631Add in "And treat me like a person, not as a potential familiar" and we're good.
>>2624631>>2624628>>2624638>>2624641You attempt to have a heart to heart, though with her you can't tell if she actually reciprocates or if she's just nodding along for the sake of her own skin. It seems at least though like she's more understanding of your situation. And it's not like the monster hunters where, there's a general animosity towards you from other witches. She describes it as merely a case of just her wanting something since her own familiars keep dying. But, if you're offering to remove the slime from her, then that alone she'll do pretty much anything in her power for. If you want to actually give her some slime, well even more she'd be willing to trade pretty much anything."Well ah... you could have my cauldron? I'd have to start a farm all over again, but maybe it has just what you're looking for? For me it was just something fun but you sound like you actually need something? You'd just need to get inside and say the magic word..."You're not exactly sure what the details of that are, but it sounds like a trade to help with your storage situation. Your call if you'd be ok with something like that, and whether or not you actually want to give her slime in exchange. Not like she could say no if you leave it inside her, she's basically your slave if she doesn't want to die. At the very least you could force the cauldron from her just for the trouble of the attack. Or be nice and friendly. In any case, not like anyone else knows she came out this way.>How do you proceed?
>>2624653We take the wand, I dunno if we actually want the cauldron. Doesn't seem stable. Regardless of what we get from her, make her vomit up the slime and send her on her way.
>>2624653I don't mind giving her a slime, but have her tutorialize on how the hell her cauldron works, and what it does.We can decide if we want the cauldron after learning how it works.
>>2624656Oh, and give her a tiny slime, too. To keep her complacent. Warn her about feeding it and whatnot.
>>2624656If the cauldron has an extradimensional storage space, it might be exactly what we need.I think she was hinting at that.I want the cauldron way more than the wand if that's the case.>>2624660We should get her one of our fancy jars for it. Remember, this thing is dangerous, watch out while you are trying to control it.
>>2624662I guess. I still want my damn barn, though.
>>2624663I do kind of want the barn as well. I mean, we already sent out someone to set it up.And we can put the cauldron IN the barn!
>>2624664Exactly!
>>2624653Alright, that cauldron should do it. Now, just lay on your side, and we'll remove the slime quicklyua
>>2624666well, she has two options really.Either have us make her throw it up, or drink WAY TOO MUCH water. She should probably drink a lot of water either way.
>>2624667There is that. Could frame the situation medically.
>>2624667While I think of it, I wonder if we're big enough to drink the entire magic spring and eat the jerk nymphs. That's probably too dickish to everyone else who uses the spring but it'd be funny.
>>2624672I mean, I'd like another barrel of magic water to go with that tasty holy water we got at home.I don't want to inconvenience the nice nymphs though.
>>2624656>>2624659>>2624660Well she kind of wanted a sentient one which was why she was trying to capture you. But if it's included with sparing her life then she'll take it.>>2624662>>2624659>>2624660At the very least before you make any trade, sure you can ask her to show you how the cauldron works. As you watch, she climbs on in and says a magic set of words,"JFK didn't want to play but Khrushchev would have gone all the way!""Wait, what?" And just like that she vanishes as though falling through the bottom. You follow after her as she said, completely unsure of how this is going to work with your huge mass of slime. But surprisingly like a drain opening up in a filled sink, you find yourself either sinking or being sucked down and then soon... pretty much vomited out another side of a hole in a big tree about the same size as the cauldron opening."I have to admit I did get a little carried away... maybe it's better if I part ways with it in fact..."What a sight, of what appears to you, to be an idyllic little grassy and flowery hillock with a charmingly quaint little cottage atop, and overlooking an expansive farm below accompanied by a huge barn, all of this played over by a lovely sunny day. At a certain distance out, strangely, there seems to be an actually perfect ring where the treeline of a strangely dark forest begins, totally encircling the farmstead. You're not sure what's beyond, but everything within is like a fairy tale farmstead. The crops grow well, the animals mingle about in their enclosures or the pasture, birds sing in the trees and the wind stirs the fields and flowers, and the sun plays over it all. "I think I've reached the limit on everything that a non-subscriber can get... but it's still nice enough as it is." With a sigh and a smile, she kneels to the sight of a friendly dog rushing up to greet her, and a strapping and quite handsome farmlad soon to follow. He's a bit alarmed by your presence, but the presence of the witch becalms him and she says you're just a friend. He surprises her by lifting her up and off her feet to spin around and kiss and treat quite amorously which she is obviously quite embarrassed by and insists he stop. "Aw shucks, but it's been so long since yer last visit... well sorry ma'am, not to offend your sensibilities or nothin" he speaks to you, trying to straighten himself up and look a bit more proper after that intimate little display, "It's nice to meet ya, will ya be joinin us fer dinner? Dinner outside... that is."The witch though pays him no mind and just returns to talking with you and explaining the situation."So yeah, pretty much anything you can manage, or imagine you can shove in here. You're only limited by the subscriber wall and complexity but this is only about halfway to the limit. You could do with it whatever you wanted, but my setup is self-sustaining. Maybe store stuff in the barn over there?"
>>2624679Well, it's a barn at least, and a really nice and big one as it is. Apparently too, according to her, it can be changed and modified as you please?Though, as nice as it is, maybe you prefer a more normal barn outside this little... whatever it is, little enclosure within the cauldron. The idea of having a barn at least somewhat near to the outcast village was appealing too... even if it was to be off in the woods to keep people from scrutinizing it too much...>How do you proceed?
>>2624679Witches be crazy but this is great. We can even raise livestock in here. It'll be incredibly handy for trips.
>>2624682Actually if she wants a sentient slime, maybe suggest she comes back in a month. We probably can learn to use Corrupt on living things by then.
>>2624682Huh.Well, this is quite nice. We'll help you remove that slime in exchange for this, sure. Is that dog like, a real person, or what? It can talk, so it weirds me out.I feel like I'd quite enjoy storing this in a real life barn, specially since the cauldron is too dang big to fit in our house comfortably. As for the witch, take her up on this deal, help her get the slime out, and tell her that we're working on figuring out how to make sentient slimes ourselves. She should check in with us every few weeks to see if we made any progress. It's a tough nut to crack, though.
>>2624682Oh and of course, the deciding vote or at least majority sway, goes to whom rolled the 100 to begin with.
>>2624696well, I don't see why we can't take this cauldron and use it to solve our short term problems and as a travel base, and also commission a barn to be done at a later date for actual village slime storage.I mean, both us and adriana will need this stuff.
>>2624699Sure but I mean the actual choice to choose this or if you want something else instead. As said before, her life is in your hands so you could be as exploitative and extortive as you want, or as forgiving and friendly. Could totally refuse this if you'd just want to stick to a normal barn, and seek some other service or favor of her. Not like she can say no to anything, assuming she wants to live.
>>2624696I have to agree with >>2624699. Don't see why we can't just take the cauldron, then get the barn done. Also can we change the activation code to something shorter? And less memey?
>>2624701Oh, no, I'm willing to accept this from her, if we're doing favor trading, and she seems cool with parting with it.She can come back and visit it whenever she wants, or check in to see if we've figured out how to make slime servants yet. we're goddamn working on it lady, trust us.
>>2624687Well if the choice was hers, she'd rather not have a slime if it wasn't sentient. She couldn't even use a normal slime as a familiar so that's not her interest. But if you're basically sort of forcing it on her to take care of she can't refuse.Certainly the idea of getting a sentient one instead, even if later on, is much more appealing.>>2624691You consider the possibilities with this enclosure, though have some concerns."Yes they're real," she answers, towards the dog and guy, "All the animals too, everything in here I brought in. Well, I stole a lot. Like Emile here, I kidnapped him from his family, but he doesn't mind. Do you Emile?""Well I miss em sometimes, but I've got my own farm here now and a real beauty who comes to visit. Now if'n she'd only stick around..."He follows up with a grab of the butt to draw the witch close to his side in a rather suggestive way, again something she clearly likes but with your presence is terribly embarassed by and gives him a playful hit."Emile stooop! Not in front of... so, a fair trade?"Creepily, despite her fondness of the place, she appears to have no actual attachment to it given how easily she can part. Though, to be fair it's also at the cost of her life and/or freedom.>>2624705>>2624706Assumedly in her exchanging of ownership, you could customize it how you please, including the login password. In any case then, the general preference seems to be accepting the deal. She can explain the finer details if you have any questions, but otherwise how do you proceed from here? Assuming that as per previous suggestions, at the very least you're going to remove the slime from her.
>>2624713yeah, we're removing the slime.Would you like to, uh, take emile? Or arrange for visitation rights? I don't want to take your stuff, and I already have a boyfriend. I really only need the storage space.also, conspiratorially when he is out of earshot, ask how she got emile to be so foreward.
>>2624713Remove slime, offer slime pet later, read farmville instruction manual, consider offering Emile his freedom.
>>2624718unless I guess emile wants to stay here regardless.Man, most places don't come with tenants like this. Emile, what's your take on all this? Do you want to stay here, or go with her, or go back to the family, or what?
>>2624713Basically >>2624718>>2624719>>2624721as usual.
I think we can leave her on good terms. Sorry for the phsyicality there, don't like spells being cast on us.Come back if you ever need healing sticks, or are interested in how slime science is progressing.
>>2624713And and quick customisation questions: what can we actually tweak about this place? Does it do anything special for farming, seeing she built a farm in here? What's native and what did she need to import?
>>2624718>>2624719>>2624721Of course you ask about Emile at least. The witch seems to not care at all about him though, or no more than the rest of this place. Despite being a real person, it seems perhaps cruelly, she just treats him as... well, little more than an enjoyment and pleasure source to periodically spend time with. His feelings towards her though seem genuine, so if you ask him, well he'd obviously want to go with her. He even whispers to you of his hopes on marrying her, settling down to the farm and having a family. Ah but, she wants none of that so it'd be your call on whether his heart gets broken. In any case it seems quite cruel considering she kidnapped him as a child and he's been here since, she basically raised him to be what she wanted him to be. One might even go as far to say grooming.Assuming then at the very least that she won't take him, well you suppose he does keep this place running basically, runs a nice farm. Though he does it for the witch, so whether or not he wants to, maybe it's more ethical to free him? In either case, probably the most important factor is whether or not you still want this place to remain a farm or literally entirely just a huge slime storage space.>>2624730>>2624735According to her, you can tweak, well pretty much whatever you want. The only thing that is default and can't be changed is the terrain, so it will always be a grassy and flowery little hollow encircled by an impassable forest line, with a great big oak for the entry/exit portal and some other features like the pond. All the structures though, she brought in by more or less shoving all the materials through the cauldron and kidnapped some workers to force to build it all. Then she brought in all the animals and such, and kidnapped Emile to run it as a farm. So yes, it doesn't have to be a farm, the space, but she chose that because of the nature of the default non-subscriber space. If for example she got a tropical island space, then she wouldn't have done a farm of course. So then, you can make your decisions about how the cauldron interior works later. For now though the two of you exit and make a handshake exchange over the cauldron itself to pass ownership. Then, you perform the unpleasant but welcome experience of compelling the slime to exit her body by surging it's way out of her stomach and mouth. Painful and very uncomfortable for her, but tears well to her eyes when she realizes she's not going to die anymore and is free of a slime parasite."Blegh... sorry about the attack. Witch life can be pretty cutthroat... I just wanted something special to improve my reputation... and also a familiar who wouldn't die so easily would be nice too...">How do you proceed?
>>2624751...hm. Well, we can't help you at the moment, however...well, I'd rather keep the major details under wraps for now as I can promise nothing, but if that's a goal of yours...I'd suggest keep in touch with me. And please don't carry on this vengance thing? I have to say I've found it unhealthy in most cases. Quite literally. We should probably keep him around IF he wants to. Split a Sadie off to help and take care of him/ acclimate him to freedom?
>>2624751I'm fine with it remaining a farm if he wants to stay here. I'm not kicking him out. I'll just take a bit of space to store slimes off to the side. But, I do think it's important to let him know that the cauldron is transferring ownership, so he might not get visits from her as much, and he should ask you if he wants to get out, since he's free to whenever he wants. And no hard feelings, witch friend. Lots of people want slime servants. It's why I'm working so hard to figure out how to make one that won't kill everyone it touches. Fuckin' hard to do.
>>2624751Geez that's horrifying.Let's, uh, yeah lets bud off a Sadie to at least keep him company. This one can be Porphyra. It means purple!
>>2624759That'll come later. Remember, she'll be us but not for a while. It's gonna take some solo work for her to become her own slime (I still prefer the racial name 'Gel' for folks of our intelligence.)And regardless we'd still need to carry on experiments and whatnot.
>>2624759>>2624754I dunno, we've not actually solved any of the problems of additional sadies.I mean, I guess if we sync regularly it could work.
>>2624762And maybe we should consult adriana about this.I mean, a new sadie is as much her business as ours.
>>2624762Yeah even if they do diverge Adriana seems happy.
>>2624762Yeah, it's honestly a sincere question- I'm not entirely sold on doing it for just that reason. Personally, I want to talk to Maribelle and the mages before trying to split.
>>2624766I'm leery of it myself.
>>2624765The entire point of our reproduction experiments was finding out a method of reproduction that would let any 'offspring' of ours diverge immediately so we wouldn't have to deal with 10000 Sadies vying for Carter's dick. I was thinking perhaps there's a way we can push an aspect or emotion or something of 'ourselves' to the forefront before budding off/splitting, or otherwise imbibe something that would influence our offspring but only have a temporary effect on us, perhaps.
>>2624768>>2624765Like for example, drink a temporary 'anti-love' potion or something that makes us largely neutral on the subject, then bud off, then it wears off afterwards, ideally having other Sadie retain that 'neutral' standing towards him.
Although thinking about it, that still wouldn't solve the question of 'well, what if the OTHERS want to bud?' it's just kicking the can down the road, so maybe not exactly a good idea.
>>2624770well, we can technically make slimes with only a few traits.it's -theoretically- possible we could make a sadie with an altered set of desires, but testing to actually figure that out is near impossible.
>>2624773How so impossible? Barring ethical concerns, I mean.
>>2624778it's mostly the ethical concerns that's the problem.I mean, our mating experiments produced at least two dozen blobs we re-absorbed.Imagine that, but with extra sadies lying around while we get the kinks out. And that's assuming the research pans out after a few tests. And none of them try to pull a runner and all go willingly to be recombined.
>>2624780No, I agree those are major concerns, I was just wondering if there was anything in addition to that.Ugh. DEFINITELY want to talk to Maribelle. And quite possibly the mages. Hell, maybe Carter, even.
>>2624784Well, other than ethical concerns, it's more a question of if it even can be done.I mean, do we even have slime trait deciding ability advanced enough to decide what memories and emotions the slime offshoots get? We might not!
>>2624769Well extra levels in mental duplicate might do it? I guess we could hold off on a farmhand Sadie until the next batch of bodies from those goblins. It'd kill two birds with one stone.
>>2624790I hate to admit it, but I was thinking similar.
>>2624790Maybe? We have no way of knowing for sure.Worth investing into to find out though. That, corruption, ringleader, and magic all have long term payouts pretty big.
>>2624792Sounds like a bit of a plan. So, that's what's next on the docket for us:-Level up our mind duplication, magic, corruption.-Speak to the orcess ninja about our info gathering job.-Speak to Maribelle and others at the Academy to figure out what spell backfired on us-Visit the mages and see what the hell they want with us at all and maybe if they can help on the slime creation front.Decent sized
>>2624794*Decent sized to-do list, if I say so myself.
>>2624794>>2624795it's the best to-do list we've had for a while. It doesn't even include any life or death situations or doing a goddamn slime heist on an orcish war camp. Just all pleasant activities.
So then! Too many posts to quote, but you part ways amicably with the witch, again her thanking you for sparing her life. She even gives you a small paper package with a couple mushrooms in it, which says to burn if you want to meet, like if you have new developments to share or need to see her. She lives quite far away so just visiting on the fly may not be possible, but obviously if you have something to share she'll make a trip of it.Elsewise she takes her leave once you return her wand then, probably a stop by town to drink a bunch of water, then will be off on her way home. Also she says maybe to be more careful about how you meet with Adriana in the future? That's how she found you in the first place, she came to the outcast village (though you were gone several days) and waited around till she saw "you". In this case Adriana whom she thought was the only one and planned to jump and kidnap. But she quite easily just followed Adriana out into the woods (hoping for said chance to get the jump on her) and found you as a result."Well, that was definitely something..."[/b]You look over your own little cauldron, noting that the magical limbs detached so that it's no longer mobile and merely just a cauldron. Probably the witch had animated those, so without her they just broke. But you can carry the thing at your size without difficulty. Your choice now, on what you do with it. Already it seems Adriana will be taking care of business in order to have yourself a proper barn in the normal world built. If she finds anything good though she'll return to you by this evening, was the agreement.>In the meantime then, how do you proceed? It's a little after noon.
>>2624798Oh wow that text coloring broke lol
>>2624794Oh let's put levelling Decay in there too. We have milk, eggs and occasionally meat from our pocket dimension farm now but it'd going to be tough to sustain all this slime.
>>2624798Let's see how many slimes it takes to lift this thing. Is it more effective to make a bunch of human shaped slimes to lift it, or a single massive slime to carry it on top?>>2624800fair.
>>2624801Probably multiple because then they can all make use of your abilities like consistency and surface tension. Assuming you use roughly human-sized but not necessarily humanoid slimes, it takes about 8-10 to lift the cauldron easily and carry it over head at full speed. If you have just one giant slime to carry it atop or within, then it takes about an SUV's worth-size to haul it along.
>>2624801Where we putting this thing for now?Otherwise I would say just stick to the plan and maybe take a turn at doing our job and healing folks.
>>2624804hm.Which uses more total slime, the 8-10, or the SUV size? That determines which we use.>>2624806We're putting it in our house until the barn is complete, then cramming it there. We might take it with us when we're out traveling once we get a good wagon design, but who knows.
>>2624807The SUV size takes more slime, though it's technically safer because it can carry the cauldron entirely within whereas the 8-10 could possibly drop it. Though, not as if the cauldron is all that fragile, just pointing out the difference. If you want to take the cauldron back home, do you want to like, store all the excess slime inside it? Otherwise you're going to be wandering into town as a giant mass only to put the cauldron in your home and then... continue to be a giant slime mass within town.>>2624806Returning home would at least give Adriana a chance to swap out with the work.
>>2624809Hm. We can't actually safely STORE the slime in there yet. There's people in there.Looks like we're waiting on the barrels either way. Adriana will be happy once she visits though. We've got LAND now. Real land! Kinda!
>>2624812How do you always store the rest of all your slime anywhere like in slime cams and slime that gets stolen or eaten? You always tend to compel it not to attack people at least, so I'd assumed you'd do the same here with the cauldron space... unless you wanted to consume everything within and gain a bunch more slime?
>>2624812If we want to be paranoid let's dig a ditch inside the cauldron, fill it with water and make a crude drawbridge. We split off the big mass, tell it to cross and stay, then we pull back the bridge. Easy!
>>2624814I figured we usually kept it in bottles so that it wouldn't escape if something goes wrong.I mean, the things get hungry and go off orders if we leave them too long, hence the entire reason we use barrels and bottles.
>>2624815That actually works well. We can get narrion to help us with that.
>>2624816Are you planning on not feeding it though lol?>>2624815Or do what the orcs did and make a big pit with something wet around the outer rim!
>>2624819I'm planning on what happens if we get drunk or die or something and forget to feed it.Yeah, let's make a big ol' pit and a moat in there to hold us over until the barrels and barn are completed. Get some skeletons in here to help with that. How's narrion been?
>>2624821Wait so clarify, you want to get the cauldron into town right now or wait? Because all that hullabaloo with Narrion, if you don't go into town yourself to seek her out, you'd at least need to wait till Adriana returns this evening to tell her you want to see Narrion.
>>2624822That's fair. We can wait for adriana.Unless we happen to be able to flag down a goblin to act as a messenger to make it happen faster.I mean, we're literally on the edge of town, I imagine some are nearby.
Rolled 90 (1d100)>>2624823A bit farther than right on the edge of town. But perhaps...
>>2624827>90Well what the hell do you know, out of boredom and wandering around to explore a little, you actually find Narrion out in the woods as she tends to go. She's busy having her skeletons beat up a wolf, but when she sees you, her initial panic quickly fades to relief at seeing you again."Wow shit, Sadie you're huge! Did you eat a dragon or something? Discover the portal to the elemental plane of meat?"Well here she is, glad to see you again. Neat that she can recognize you and Adriana apart, must come from her getting used to living with you. It is a sight as well, to see her active with her skeletons so clearly she's been practicing with them more.>How do you proceed?
>>2624832Ah, nah, we just reclaimed a bit of slime that got stolen. Speaking of, you mind helping us out?We need a big ol' ditch and moat dug, and you've got minions that can use tools. My slimes are nice, but they can't use shovels.Do you mind having your skeletons dig my moat'n'pit for me pretty please?
>>2624833If you get rid of this wolf for her, sure she'll do it. She'll even call in her other skeletons to make faster work of it! Just give her a job description and she'll set her skeletons to it. Depending on how much you want dug, could probably be a day or two at the most, considering she can have the skeletons work nonstop even at night.
>>2624832Would you believe me if I said this all was basically mine anyway?Well, doesnt matter. We got a portal to a plane somewhere, alright. Not made of meat though. We're going to use it to store our excess slime in. And for that we kind of need a moat and a general containment area. Was kind of hoping you'd help with that.
>>2624835oh shit, I didn't even notice the wolf.Do you want it like, skeletized, or just dead, or just gone, or what? And I want a deep pit to start, then a moat around that once the pit is done.>>2624836Yeah, this pretty much.
>>2624835Huh. Glorp capture the wolf. We might be able to utilize it for experiments.Curiosity, what happened with this thing? You piss it off or it was just in a bad place at a bad time or what?
>>2624838>>2624837>>2624836She thinks the local werewolf tried to sic it on her but that could just be paranoia. As long as you get rid of it, killed or not, she doesn't care.In any case though to prove your point about the cauldron and try not to shock her too much, you pile up a bunch of her skeletons first and then send them through the cauldron so she has an idea. Then you let her go through and follow after in he same way. The place is too cheery for her tastes, but there's no denying it's an impressive feat of magic and one she didn't even know was possible. Though to be fair she has very little actual magic exposure, she's just a peasant girl who found her necromancy book, so no real idea of what great feats of magic are capable of.But together you can find an area to dig up the pit for and she can set her skeletons to work. Emile even notices and eventually comes over to introduce himself and offers to help. Together then, the lot of them will commence with the digging project, and Narrion expects that she should have it done by tomorrow at the latest. Elsewise you can leave her be, she'll take care of things on her own. Returning back outside the cauldron then, now with a trapped wolf, you have your slime containment plan set in motion and have the good news to look forward to that you can return home with the cauldron without worry by tomorrow.>How do you proceed?
>>2624844Huh.Well, I guess let's dump the wolf off on the other side of town, then return.Maybe tie a slimecam to its neck like a collar so we can track it. That would be super cool actually.
>>2624844Let's help with the digging then we can head into town with Narrion. Get a quick tour of the farm when people need a break too. What's Emile been raising?
>>2624844Do >>2624846 and then go to help out with the digging. Kind of want to see if we can't get a feel for the type of person Emile is. We're going to have to gently wean him off of the witch bitch.
Wish this Quest started earlier in the day for me...
>>2626059Sorry friend, can't do much about that.>>2624863>>2624846>>2625152You don't really have much better to do so you figure to help with the digging then why not? Though it's difficult for you being made of slime for various reasons, not to mention your size, but you can help a little at least. After about an hour or two as well when the non-skeletons need a break, you figure a tour is in order which Emile is happy to give. He shows you around the grounds of various crop fields, an expansive pasture, obviously a big barn and a stable, a grain and tool storage, and then the little cottage which is quite nicely furnished and cute along with a garden. You're more used to richer and fancier things than this, but really, who wouldn't be happy to have a nice peaceful life here? For what is actually being grown and raised, some basic stable crops like grains and vegetables, as well as interestingly a small peach orchard. Now that's something very special as peaches are not common around these lands, but apparently the witch had a love of the fruit so went to great lengths to get some growing. As for animals there's a couple horses, a small herd of cows, some goats here and there, a number of chickens and rabbits. Also there's the animals which aren't farmed, like the birds in the area and the fish in the pond.As for Emile, you take to observing him when you can. He seems good-natured and honest enough. He seems pretty uneducated though and rather naive, not at all worldly which makes sense if he comes from a peasant background and even then was kidnapped as a child and basically imprisoned in a little farmstead his whole life since. Thusly, his interests and opinions are mostly relegated to farming, though he certainly does his job well. And friendly at least, nice to have around. As such, well maybe it's nothing, but he and Narrion get along rather well since having to work together. You wonder if there's something...Ah well, in any case back to digging before long and you work until late afternoon. Taking periodic breaks to check on the slime cam you attached to the wolf after letting it go (you find you need to exit the cauldron to be able to see anything remotely), it doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary, just a wolf wandering about the wilds. You can expect Adriana back before long though, but anything else to do till the evening?
>>2626751Ask if Emile might be interested in learning other things. Aside from that, I can't think of anything in particular. Have we done any healing work today?
>>2626751hey, he's free to get together with narrion as MUCH as he wants. Also, sweet, we figured out we can't give orders through the cauldron. Better watch out for that safety wise. And, nice wolfcam. It'll be good for casual entertainment in the future.Say, Narrion, have you found a place to live yet? I'm massive right now, we can just sort of smash a place out of the forest for you.>>2626770And yeah, heal anybody coming by asking for it. We're massive, we almost certainly have some visitors.
>>2626772Oh yeah, we'd want to do that 'clear a place' thing for her before we finish and store our slime.
>>2626816Though, the handy part of having a slime storage is that we can be giant again if we want, so it's no biggie if she's not found a spot she likes yet.
>>2626770>>2626772>>2626816He's not opposed to learning new things but he can't even read so unless you get him a teacher or something...As for Narrion, she actually did have her skeletons build her a shack in the woods, but if you're offering something nice she'll take it. This farmstead is nice though too, and as much as it reminds her of home which she doesn't like, she can't deny the comfy features. Again, she'll take a bright sunny day if it means getting to sleep in a real bed, any day.On the matter of healing, well you'd been inside the cauldron digging most of the day. When you aren't inside it though, what few folks randomly happen past, are almost all just frightened away by the sight of a giant slime monster apparently in the woods.
>>2626850Hm. Might be best to just have her in the farmstead for now.>Everyone's scared of our size.Oy. This is priority then.I vote timeskip until this is done.
>>2626850Well, you're free to stay in the farm. And like, all we can really do is clear a space for you, that you'd build on out here. Like, whichever place you'd like to stay most. Also, make sure they know the keyword to get in and out.>>2626864Yeah, it's pretty important to get our excess mass stored. Then we can finally head back into town.
>>2626873>>2626864Ideally Narrion would prefer some gloomy estate with a graveyard, but the cottage is about the best she could hope for around these parts.Elsewise, you can just be careful then and while out time away in the woods and the cauldron for another day or so with visits from Adriana in between. Eventually though by about noon tomorrow, Narrion is putting in the final effort of getting her skeletons out of the pits dug but the digging itself is complete now. How to actually use it, well that's up to you but your specifications were met more or less.>How do you proceed?
>>2626937Phew.Now fill the moat with water, moisten the edge of the pit, and deposit most of your slime in there.I don't mind being particularly tall when it's all stored away though. Gives us some walking around weight. After we're able to fit into buildings, let's go see how the actual barn construction is doing, and drag the cauldron back to our house so we can store it there until the barn is done.Woo, now we're people sized and can wear clothes again! How has business been, Adriana? I've not been able to check. Also, check it out, this cauldron has a whole dang farm in it.
>>2626957This pretty much.
>>2626957We can compress to 50% height right? We could go for a mass that's human sized at about 60-70% compression to avoid getting too sluggish and still hulk out when needed.
>>2626992yeah, sure.Though like, no real reason to not display as tall as our clothes can handle. Means we can carry more.
>>2626992That sounds fine.
>>2626957>>2626977>>2626992Well if you want to be able to wear clothes again, then being larger than normal wouldn't work. But anyway, you can replicate what the orcs did at their settlement and stash all the slime in the pit and then soak the edges, and just have Emile and Narrion to keep it wet and also just chuck any waste into the pit. With the pond nearby and the running of the farm it should work.Meanwhile outside, with Adriana's help you can drag the cauldron back to your normal house where it can fit, even if it takes up a lot of space inside. With her taking a break from the healing as well, she can show you more in person, the arrangements of the construction going on. It's about a twenty minute walk from your home near the center of town, to out of the settlement a ways to a cleared area in the forest where it's fenced off and a construction is clearly going on. Mostly goblin labor, with a myconid of all people directing the project. It's not dwarf labor but with so many available goblins, the work does go by quite fast. The foreman expects under a week now for the sizeable barn which Adriana asked for.Reassuring then, you're not particularly keen on the location and neither is the designer, but it's what you paid for at the end of the day so it's what you'll get. While touring the site you can discuss things as well with her, like how the healing business has been going. She does have some bad news on that though, in that while the healing service is going fantastically well, the business side backfired a little; the goblin gangsters have now taken to just buying healing sticks and stuff from you rather than relying on you for healing and "paying" with body disposal. So she doesn't think you can expect a source of bodies from then and will need to look elsewhere. Not the end of the world, just a setback. And when you return to town, you can show her the biggest surprise, the cauldron. She's immensely surprised but loves it as much as you do, at least the utility of it. Plus that it comes with a working farm and a friendly lad to run it? What a deal, she can only compliment you for such great work when really the witch in question would have gotten her way but essentially lost everything to you. She does have some dark considerations though... what if you were to optimize the cauldron space for just maximizing slime growth? Rather than a storage farm, but like a slime growth encouraging factory or operation? A cauldron that quite literally just spews forth endless slime...A thought, but you are quite fond of the idyllic little farmstead world within the cauldron, and aren't about to wipe it and start from scratch.
>>2627048Post too long, but essentially it,>How do you proceed?
>>2627048Truth be told, I kind of like it the way it is. A private home away from home.
>>2627048Not even just taller? I mean, we're wearing dresses, I figured we could give ourselves more leg.Ah well. And I'm confused. Don't the gangsters still need to get rid of bodies? Did they find someone else who is giving better rates for bodies? We should ask them about that. And let's hold off on the slime. It's a real nice farm in there. And we already have more slime than we need.Next time we have to fight a giant though, we might totally do that.I think a thing to do should be finding out what exactly goblins are doing with bodies they're making now.
>>2627048I'm kinda liking it as it is as well, really. The farm food could be useful, in more ways than one. And honestly, if we really wanted we could, I dunno, make a lake of slime but still have the household, I think.>>2627090I'm honestly not too fussed about the goblin gangsters, really. Although I suppose that makes sense- the fact that the sticks take a while to run out means that there's less need for supplying services or other such middleman issues. We may want to look into other avenues for bodies now, though. As troublesome as that is. Once the orcess ninja either shows up or doesn't, we'll have a lot more freedom to roam around in search of things to do.
>>2627104see, I just want to figure out who the hell is undercutting us.Since like, we're offering FREE body disposals. They don't even have to dig a hole, and we're located conveniently in town so they don't have to haul the body very far. That means either A. someone has a MORE convenient corpse hole (how is this possible?) or B. someone is paying them more than we are for corpses.
>>2627090>>2627089You have shapeshifting so can assume near any form you could want. However making yourself bigger merely by elongating, that's not your natural form so it would require ongoing effort and/or concentration to maintain. It's one thing to just scale up or scale down your human form which "feels" natural to you with self-image as high. But it's another thing to alter that form by doing something like stretching it out or squashing it down. So if you were a proportionately large 10-ft tall slime woman it would be fine, but taking your normal ~5-ft form and elongating it... it's not impossible, but you'll need to consciously maintain it.As for the gangsters, yes indeedy, apparently they did find something to do with the bodies instead... exactly what, they keep close to their chest, they'd just like to remain customers now rather than confidants. Not that you couldn't find out... just not from the gangsters themselves, not by asking them at least. And lastly, Adriana's goal for maximizing slime wasn't so much to become a literal giant slime monster, but rather more slime to have for experiments and when you make any breakthrough. Like, she's assuming that once you figure out how to create unique slime people from yourself, that right away with enough slime you could make like several hundred to begin with and really have your own littler founder Gel race population.>>2627104Well even with the orc matter handled, you're still technically always tied to the academy because of Carter. Or, tied to Carter and so this region.
>>2627117ah, dang. Maybe more self image will allow us to change our default shape around without consciously willing it?Oh well, for now normal sady sized.Let's try two things. One, ask the gangsters exactly how much they're getting for the bodies, and if we could change their minds about where they are bringing them. You know, bargaining. Two, get to our normal antics of planting cameras around and watch for GOBBO CRIME and see what happens.Good point adriana. If we ever figure out how to make people that aren't just... us.Or even, us but without having to share our man.
>>2627117Oh, I get it. Hm. Well, the Adriana idea is tempting. Maybe we can make a sort of Slime lake in due time? Or that might be too dangerous...would need more details.>>2627126I'd stick maybe just to 2, if either of them (which I'm really not that interested in but whatever). Presumably we already talked to them about it and they didn't say anything.
>>2627131well, do you have any other plans?I guess we could visit the book store and such, but we've got a crime mystery on our hands.
>>2627133I'm just gunshy about fucking with the mob. Especially when they've been pretty okay with us.
>>2627135I'm not tryin' to fuck with them.Just tryin' to make a counteroffer, or maybe at least see where stuff is going.Like, if it's going to a ghoul who needs to eat dudes to live, I don't really want to undercut him.But if it's some necromancer, then yeah, I'm up for a bit of bidding.
>>2627136Ugh, fiiiiine. I'm still nervous with pressing the issue, though.
>>2627148well, if they get flustered, we won't press.
>>2627148>>2627153>>2627131Maaake a roll! For the attempt at getting info from them.
Rolled 22 (1d100)>>2627164
Rolled 30 (1d100)>>2627164Here's hoping. Just a bit of information, then...
Rolled 76 (1d100)>>2627164captcha stop fucking me around!
>>2627188>>2627183>>2627174>76You try to pry any information from those ruddy little goblin gangsters. And you make a good effort of it, innocently enough just asking what they might be doing with the bodies if not giving to you to dispose of. Unfortunately your line of questioning makes them suspicious so the most you can get out of them is that someone else is actually paying for the bodies so that offer is more attractive than giving them to you for free. Also, the buyer is "more their speed" and would assumedly have a criminal nature or background as well, so naturally they're more comfortable dealing with and selling to such a party.Beyond that they are pretty tight-lipped and only want to buy healing supplies now. You have an idea of surveillancing them to find out more, but that's something you can devote yourself to afterward. For now, you don't think you can find out more just by talking or asking.>How do you proceed?
>>2627117I like the idea of cauldron slime factory but honestly that has a lot of overlap with the existing farm - we can eat milk and eggs plus occasionally slaughter chickens and cows.If we want to go crazy with it, we could start excavating? Idyllic surface, business below.
>>2627196About what was expected. Again, I'd rather let the issue lie. It's not really that vital for us these days, all things considered. Let's get back to what we've been doing, and gaining more bodies will be something to consider on the weekend after the Academy visit.
>>2627196all right, well, I guess someone IS paying for 'em.We don't have to investigate any further, though we should consider a counter-move. Like also offering to pay for bodies. That comes after consideration, though. For now we can complain about it with adriana and narrion. Who would've thought there would be COMPETITION in the body disposals business? And that whoever it is is baying well enough for bodies that the goblins have enough coins to actually buy stuff for money! They -never- do that!So I guess it's not all bad, because hey, an income stream, but still prime complaint fodder.Ah well, back to healin' and waitin' for our regular carter/ninja visit. Whichever comes first. Maybe with a check into the bookstore to see if they've got anything good, or taking the farmbodies out for a walk on the town if they want.>>2627210I -am- tempted by a farm making us eggs and milk, forever. It's like a magical fridge.
>>2627196Oh well, wish them luck. They've been good to us so might as well end amicably. We need a new source of fresh bodies though. Is it time for more ADVENTURE?
>>2627216we got a meet we're waiting for, but once that time passes, sure!Maybe if we get a huge load of dosh we can make a counteroffer on the goblins without feeling the pain in our wallet.
>>2627211>>2627215>>2627216>>2627218You can also make a roll for the bookstore, and specify perhaps if there's something you're after in particular. As for the coming schedule, well holding to your weekly visits, you'd normally be leaving for the academy... in about a day or two! You didn't start going about the orc business until after the last academy visit, that took about three days, then since you've returned, the remainder of this day will make another three. So really only one day, tomorrow, before you take your leave again for the academy, assuming you hold to the usual schedule. Then, after that you're expecting a visit from the ninja more or less the next day.So what's on your mind for one more day, tomorrow?
Rolled 75 (1d100)>>2627282Hm.Yeah, sure, let's visit the bookstore. See if they have anything to add to our magic/slime/romance/medical collections. You know, any of 'em.Though, that won't really take all day at all. What else can we do? Is there enough healing business at home to take care of? Does adriana want us to take over for the day while she goes off and does her own thing? If not, then I dunno, maybe bring food to the barn workers or something, to be nice.
>>2627282Let's work on leads for new sources of bodies to chase up after the academy visit. Maybe we'll get lucky and there's some fresh bandits or something.
Rolled 91 (1d100)>>2627282Actually, >>2627291 might be on to something. After >>2627290, we could perhaps take a better look at our surroundings and see what's near us. Or heck, maybe we could check out books and study them, ask around and all that jazz. When we make our own kingdom we want to know who our neighbors and potential friends and enemies are.
>>2627290>What else can we do?Whatever else might interest you. By now Adriana has sort of made the healing business her own with just your help sometimes, since she's always around mostly. But even besides, customers tend to thin out later in the day and she closes the store by evening. Plus, her ongoing plan and effort to distribute healing sticks and such, so that overtime eventually goblins and other residents won't need to crowd around every day looking for healing when most everyone has a healing stick or something handy. At least in this town. The barn workers would definitely appreciate something nice though, if you wanted to spend the day out there with them.>>2627291>Let's work on leads for new sources of bodies to chase up after the academy visit. That of course, is entirely up to your own creativity. If you want to go looking for bandits you can, but any plans or schemes to get more bodies, it's something you'll have to formulate rather than just roll for or handwavingly come up with an idea for. But I'm sure you guys can figure something out, even if it is just go bandit hunting which you could try for a day, or not.
>>2627303Basically what I was suggesting- take a day out that's nearby the village, but maybe off in a direction we don't usually go. Close enough that we can be back by sundown.
>>2627303I'd like to hang out with the barn guys, since they really deserve it for working on our place. Get 'em some sandwiches or something. As for body methods, I think looking for bandits might not be the right angle. We'd probably just wind up killing our gobbo mobsters.I got it. let's go find a single dead guy from... somewhere. That part of the plan I don't got.And once we have this dead guy, let's dump him in town during the night. Then let's watch where he is taken by the locals. We can even put a slime cam on him.
>>2627306That of course is ALWAYS an option, just blindly go exploring and see what awaits you out in the world. Some consensus of course is needed though on what you choose to do.
>>2627306I'm fine with randomly exploring for a day. We can do it off around the barn. Best to get the area around our land explored. And if we find any dead guys, bam, we have materials for my plan.
>>2627308We could just give them a healing stick and slimecam it. Maybe hollow it out and put a tiny slime inside for tactical sneaking slime.Other avenues of finding bodies: rumours of bandits or nuisances like roaming kobolds and finding out if there's a goblin morgue. They very likely sell unclaimed bodies to aspiring doctors and necromancers.
>>2627319Yeah.We gotta get our finger on the pulse of this trade here.
Rolled 2 (1d4)>>2627302>>2627290>91
Oh yeah, I completely forgot. We need to look up books on the Monster Lands or whatever you called them way back. It's like, they got a passing mention and that was it, but with us trying for our own Kingdom eventually I can't help but wonder now.
>>2627340Oh yeah, sure.I don't mind opening our collection up to include monsterology, and related topics. like monster kingdom location.I'd like to visit a monster kingdom.
