Objective

The path to restoring your memories might not be so clear-cut anymore; the Blood and Zipangu rituals could still become your solutions.

Sieglinde is preparing a suppression of the undead forest, scheduled to happen around day 13 or 14. You'll have to resolve your own stance on this - she's preparing to involve people who've taken your ancestral lands for themselves.

Side activities

Vilma duel is happening very soon, you can't do anything else to help her now.

You’ve gone and used up your privilege to enjoy Belphegor exotic bits, leaving you with two winnings of your gambling: Elina and Sieglinde

''It's getting late, we shouldn't stay up longer... Tomorrow will be important.'' Clouds crawled in the sky and came to cover the moon, making the nearby forest into a spot of spooky shapes, winds flowing from the sea also refreshed the balcony, making for a particularly cold atmosphere that was a few degrees off from being comfortable.

Sieglinde proposition echoed Hao awkward suggestion, the maid warrior seemed stuck between wishing to go back (perhaps missing Teruko) or sticking around; you didn't intend to return this quickly, you had so much to think about...

One of your benefactors revealed an endearing secret, the scarlet-haired princess importance on family had you reminisce that discussion you had with Belphegor: something had motivated this princess to try and extend a hand of friendship to her entourage despite this isolating motivation.

Of course, there was also Hao, a girl you had difficulty placing between stranger or friend but she revealed a grim ambition indeed by wishing to take revenge on her old tribe. If such a thing would come to fruition remains to be seen but to believe this cheery, naive and impulsive tribal-girl as childish was wholly wrong. You didn't know how or when this impression had taken roots in your mind but tonight showed you an important facet of this warrior who so efficiently dealt with one of Teruko strongest summons.

''I'd like to stay a little longer.'' You spoke as the women around you were starting to move away from the protective railing. ''Elina? Could I speak with you for a moment?'' Your prompt was met by a confused blink from the angel and you tried your best to offer a disarming smile.

From the last few days, ever since you've caught her sleepwalking, the angel seemed to have regressed into a strange lethargy that was only broken by a few events that demanded violent reactions, something about her attitude was... worrying you and even now as she silently observed with a delayed your impression was reinforced.

She had been cheery after your awakening, supportive of your presence and grew little informal after getting comfortable but now... it felt like she was walking on eggshells from dawn to dusk.

''That so?'' You heard Sieglinde quiet a yawn. ''Don't stay up too late.'' One of her big hands went to pat Vilma head.

''T-thank...'' She short lich mumbled, momentarily stopping herself when Hao strolled toward the open archway leading into the shrine. ''...For everything.''

''Whatever happens tomorrow isn't an ending.'' You answered, taking a page from the lizard maid book and offered your friend a thumb up. ''We'll see each other in the morning.''

You'd have liked for either of them to stay because of their history with the angel who silently bridged the distance to stand beside, red-plumed wings curling backward in silent questions as for your purpose.

''Thank for staying.'' You spoke after the other three walked away, prompting a sideways smirk to grace the angel face.

''You wanted to talk, right?'' Her voice was melodious and a golden shine flashed above her head as her levitating halo gained energy. ''Aren't you tired?''

''I'll be fine.'' You took a nap this afternoon. ''I wish I could be eloquent about my worries.'' A bashful feeling has you grip onto the railing and grimace. ''I've been concerned about you Elina, for a while now.'' Her reaction was a silent frown that barely lasted, her smirk spread into a gentle smile you could only describe as a mixture of resolute forlornness.

You didn't like it at all.

''How do you mean?'' She asked, turning to observe you properly, leaning onto the guardrail so her wing wouldn't obstruct viewing each other.

''You seem depressed, can't put it any more literal than that.'' Raised eyebrows told of evident surprise so you quickly continued. ''Your warmth when I awoke was one of the reasons why I felt welcomed as I stumbled through my days in this new world. As of late, I've noticed you've often become... silent, I haven't seen you speaking much with anybody, I think our game of dices was the last time I saw you genuinely enjoying yourself.''

''Hm...'' No concise answer aside from this worrying smile, a cold breezed flew through the balcony, sending her hair into a wild flutter that forced her to put a hand on the side of her face and lever her left wing.

''Am I imagining things, Elina?'' Please, give something to assuage these worries; angels shouldn't be so dim. Her radiance had been a salvation, undoubtedly the reason why you lowered your guard after nearly killing yourself on your first day of existence...

''Arawn, what do you think of this place, these peoples?'' Her question was followed by a gentle gesture for the empty corridor.

''I'm not sure I follow... I think nothing but goods about everyone, all of you welcomed a total stranger into your lives.''

''Does it feel like home?'' She asked rubbing her chin gently with a smirk you could almost describe as mischievous.

''Probably too soon to say...'' You mumbled an answer, feeling a rising hotness on your face that couldn't be cooled by night winds.

''I wouldn't say so, you've already established yourself with everyone you know? It's thank to you -yes, you- that Vilma fate changed so radically in the last few days. Not only is your gift naturally compatible with her but you've proven to her highness she's valuable enough to keep as a retainer.''

''Why are you changing the subject? I've been worried about you, of course, I'll help Vilma or anybody else...'' Your interruption brought a few seconds of silence where the angel placed her hands on the railing to face the night vista.
>>
''Next week, next month, in half a year... do you think you'll still be here with these peoples? Your friends? Even her majesty Jawahir and Supreme Belphegor have created a positive link with you, no matter what happens with your memories, isn't this place a home?'' There was a resolution in her voice that completely dispelled your timidity.

''I'd like that. I said so earlier didn't I? My ambition is tied to my memory but I'll still like to return all the favors you girls have bestowed upon me... Why are you questioning me, Elina?'' This time you took a step closer, concern mingling with rising frustration as she had so clearly dodged your topic.

''Remember when I said I intended to stop being Teruko student?'' She wasn't observing you now, the wind had died down but she kept a hand on her hair, obscuring her profile with soft skin.

''Yeah, a solution that'd keep the administration off her back but her Majesty presence means you don't have to do it anymore.'' She made an effort to smile at your words and lower her arm.

''It wasn't something I thought up on the spot, I've been thinking about it for a while.'' She summoned enough courage to look at you only to abandon this idea and cast another gaze out in the world. ''I can't summon anything, I've tried and tried with Teruko help but this week... She's been much happier instructing you and keeping her attention on Vilma, our own exercises have been nothing but failures but I've at least made myself useful by helping training our upcoming duelist.''

It was true you've never heard mentions of angels summoners whereas humans -elves especially- had their odd occurrence. ''You'll give up?'' You asked, pinching your lips to contain your frustration. ''You're the one who brought me out of the Throne, Elina. You. Nobody else, shouldn't that account to...something? Didn't you use summoning techniques?''

She shook her head. ''I prayed, Arawn. You came without warning, all I did is touching that pillar; never did I attempt to commune with spirits or take into myself wayward entities.''

''Then what?'' Perhaps she was right, trying to accomplish the impossible was an effort in futility, what matters more is what she intends to do now if she were to proceed with this mindset... ''Assuming you stop, do you intend to leave, go back into Zipangu?''

''I...I'd prefer not to. I don't have anywhere to go.'' Now that was a worrying sentence.

''Isn't Zipangu your own home, Elina?'' She had been trying to make a point earlier with this topic, you felt like she avoided mentioned a few key things...

''No, I thought it was but I was a complete dead weight who was only allowed to stay because a single person believed my connections with... an important someone in their care.''

''Then leaving for Throne Town, trying to become a summoner... was that an excuse?'' Her head shook in negation.

''I came here out of desperation for a solution to a personal problem.''Her wings flapped, telling of emotional turmoil. ''I haven't found anything, though I -did- get some answers about something else. I've been here for two months you know?'' Her question wasn't one that needed a response, you could only nod in silence as she grinned a beaming, defeated smile. ''All this while I sent letters, a friend of mine wanted to keep correspondence and it isn't like it was difficult: Sieglinde is accommodating, but... all of my letters to my friend never got any replies so I stopped trying to communicate, no need to keep an empty charade.''

That... was sad. ''Elina, you don't mean to believe they've forgotten about you?''

Your words provoked a gentle giggle, a beautiful crystalline laugh full of self-loathing. ''Half the reason I'm here was to see if anyone would miss me.'' She spoke bluntly. ''Coupled with consistent bad dreams, it's getting difficult to... look on the positive of things.''

Anger boiled your entrails and you tried your best to let out some of that negative energy by tightening your group around the rail, enough for the stones to imprint themselves painfully on your skin. Silently, out of sights and mind, this blond has been tormenting herself without raising a single complaint.

>''Tell me of Zipangu. I don't care for a neutral opinion, tell me everything you want, I'm interested in -everything- you want to say.''

Jeeze, heavy topic all around.
I don't think we should discuss her sleepwalking at this juncture, she doesn't need more worries.

''You've spoken of your homeland before.'' Your voice resonates into the vast emptiness, Elina natural golden projection must shine like a star on this high balcony. ''I'd like to know more, how did you come to live there? I don't suppose there's a native angelic population?''

Elina shakes her head, mustering enough courage to face you. ''I was rescued, by that friend I mentioned. It was right in the middle of Zipangu crusade so...'' You'd like to know more about that friend, the way she's glossing over it means you can't afford to be pushy... At least not yet.

''You decided to make a permanent stay after the conflict?''

''Yeah...'' She winces at her words and looks away awkwardly. ''Remember when I told you about my being an apprentice?''

''Indeed, to the Embodiment of Love. I won't pretend to understand the significance but I'm sure it was an important post.''

''Not really.'' Still, she smiles and you imitate her, glad to have at least brought a little ephemeral positivity. ''I... well, I stayed in Zipangu because that conflict wounded my mentor. It wasn't a normal injury either, she saved the man she loved by taking in his wounds, suffering something so horrifically traumatic that... only an angel like her could survive this kind of damages.'' Bitterness closer her mouth and she pinched her lips together, closing her eyes in a surge of emotions so intense it drained the pretty golden light of her halo, diminishing it into a tired, dry thing of gray matter consumed by nearby alchemical lights.

''I've been wanting to heal her, it's why I'm here; I thought maybe summoning could hold a hint, a key because I've tried everything else. Though, that's not really the worst, even if Hadraniel is stuck in a coma I...'' Palms tightening on the railing, Elina stops to look down, hair falling forward while a long, long sigh escapes her. you take a few steps closer as her wings audibly flapped.

''People in Zipangu are incredibly proactive -especially her lover- so one day he decided to do an important ritual to delve into her soul, given my history with Hadraniel I insisted on coming...'' Elina shook her hand, grimacing. ''...Meeting her again was such a blessing, her first reaction was to embrace the man she loves and then gracing me with polite words of greetings, not knowing anything about who I was.''

Oh, now that... Must have been a terrible experience.

''I suppose we haven't met for enough lifetimes, her memories must have eroded into nothing...'' Elina voice is cold enough to match the nearby freshness of the balcony, it takes a conscious effort to restrain yourself from trembling. ''...I couldn't really be of much help afterward, nobody would trust me to help out with something so delicate anymore.''

''I'm sorry, Elina.'' What else could you say? Her entire presence in Throne Town was raw desperation, chasing a dream -angelic summoning- because she couldn't find purpose anywhere else.

''It's fine... nobody here is to blame and I've been happy enough.'' With clearly fake courage, she still manages to muster enough spirits to smile. She was indeed speaking with rings of truth, wasn't she an endearingly pretty lady with a heart-melting smile?

No more words come out of her, all of her emotions come into a fragile equilibrium, a harmony of sorrow that had been draining her energy like a tumor.

If being a summoner held such significance... Now that she's given up, does that mean abandoning her ailing mentor to continue this 13 years old coma?

>''What is it that your friend rescued you from, Elina? How long were you separated from Hadraniel?''

''This friend of yours...'' You speak before Elina could fully regress into morosity and this subject prompt her to lift her head and observe you in mild surprise. ''...Tell me about her. You're clearly hurt about her absence, I'd like to know the friend of my friend.''

''Ah...'' A small hesitation travel the angel frames translated into a wing flap that nearly smack your shoulder. ''...Her name is Maygan Fayruz, she's the maid of queen Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto and engaged to her, too.'' She absentmindedly rolls a strand of blond hair around her finger, a gentle smile of reminiscence keeping despair at bay. ''She's a good lady, a summoner that surpasses even Teruko though, she's far too gentle to put those talents to uses. She's a passionate lady who cares a whole lot about people around her, it's why she's my friend in a way; she's just about the only one who bothered to keep up with me, though her duty to the queen often keep her far too busy for us to spend time together.''

Elina hip came into contact with the stone and she gently put her hands on top of her head, trying to mimic some kind of... shape by sticking her fingers together. ''You'd like her.'' She affirms with a beaming smile. ''Maygan got those big fluffy white ears and a dog tail above her butt, both keep twitching and moving to her mood. It's endearing really, she can't lie about anything since those things always give her away.''

''A good friend then?''

''Yeah... She like drawing, she's actually been helping the queen-mother with one of her selfish ambitions.'' As her hands go back to hold onto the railing, image of fluffy dog ears on top of her golden head bring an ephemeral smile to your lips.

''And she saved you?'' This was a touchy subject, there wasn't any way to breach it gently and she winced as if sucker punched in the guts at your forwardness.

''That's... a long story. I'll eternally be grateful to her for sure, though... I suppose time erodes everything.'' She wasn't so keen on speaking about this event of her life, likely connected with this unexplainable bout of sleepwalking.

''Elina...''

''Do you think we should go back and sleep? Sieglinde said tomorrow was an important day.'' Perhaps she had reached the limit of her emotional endurance, she was making a point to avoid looking at you now, bringing a wing as a wall that couldn't filter any sounds between you two.

She hadn't revealed everything yet, obviously, she went through some kind of trauma -an event she needed rescuing from, one that tore her away from her beloved mentor- and she's been dodging questions about your summoning, what she truly did back then remain a mystery but, for now, Elina vulnerability is irresistible. You long to do something, anything, to make her smile again.

Maybe it had been a mask, a pretense of false happiness she deluded herself into embracing until this bout of sleepwalking tore apart that lie. All this while without a single complain, taking a step back for Vilma and doing everything she could to help the short lich...

''Elina, I want you to listen to me.'' The authority and energy in your voice to stop her stride, she hasn't even taken a step away from the railing.

>''I want you to understand that I'll eternally be grateful for what you've done for me, even if it was an accident: you pulled me away from eternal slumber and allowed me to exist again. Please, believe me when I say I'll always -always- be your ally. If you don't have a home to return to... I'd like to help you seek one out, perhaps even build one. I'm sounding desperate here, but you're making me really afraid that you'll up and vanish one day...'' (Have her rely on you, see if maybe you can take a step into her personal life.)

>''I think you should speak about this with Sieglinde, Teruko, Vilma... everyone really, we are a group and her highness has done a wonderful job to make us into a merry band slowly involving in each other personal lives. Wasn't that evident after our little group discussion? Whatever problem you have, don't bottle it too much; Hadraniel state in Zipangu... Don't you think I could help? Vilma also? Maybe even Teruko? There's no selfishness amongst friends, I think... It'd do you good to extend a hand just like Sieglinde.'' (Push her toward the group instead of relying wholly on you. Elina lamented her lack of home by trying to distract you earlier, she's likely too afraid to try and build one on her own.)

Push her towards the group. While having the angel become emotionally dependent on us is tempting it's also not the right thing to do right now.

It's also the best chance we have at finding some way to help revive Hadraniel down the line. A world without the Embodiment of Love up and about spreading Love simply won't do.

It's also the Lazy option. Spread the responsibility around so that we don't have to do all the emotional heavy lifting.

''What's is happening with your old life in Zipangu shouldn't hold you back, Elina; you're part of a group now.'' Her gaze of pale green strayed and before she could interject, you continue speaking.

''Remember what Belphegor told us a few days ago? That Sieglinde decided to reach out to people, without any cause to explain this mindset? It's been slow going but all of us have been involving each other in our personal lives, of course, Vilma needed our attention but that doesn't mean you ought to suffer in silence.''

''I-I wasn't...'' You shake your head, taking a few steps closer as she awkwardly put her palms around her elbows, creating another display of irresistible vulnerability.

''You were enduring your distress without disturbing anyone. Enough to make me afraid you were trying to withdraw entirely from our circle and leave.'' It took such a monumental effort to resist the urge of embracing her that you had to compromise with your instinct by patting her shoulder. Being a head smaller than you force her to crane her neck upward to keep a wavering stare into your eyes.

''I wouldn't be accomplishing anything without our friends and I'd likely have given into some kind of despair if I were alone, thrust into this world without directions... Don't you think Sieglinde could help with your mentor situation? You came into the school of summoning because there's a potential connection, right?''

''I was deluding myself...'' Elina mumbled in response, making a half-turn to observe the straight corridor lit up by a few stray lights.

''Try, not only with me but everyone else, try to speak with them. You aren't indebted to anyone; if angels are truly incompatible with summoning, you can still find something else to do, you've got plenty skills and talents, you held an entire front by your lonesome during our expedition. I hope that.. I've made you feel a little better tonight, Elina.'' A selfish temptation stung your heart when you spoke those words, you'd have honestly liked to have this glowing heavenly woman rely on you instead of pushing her toward others. How could you truly be supportive of anybody without any foundations to call your own?

Relationships require a certain degree of experience you can't pretend to possess, you can only operate on instincts and one day, that'll lead to a mistake; tightening everyone bonds with one another would at least... You'd hope it could create strong enough connections to weather life coming trials.

''Having someone care enough to impose themselves on me like that is... it's refreshing.'' She smiled, a beautiful blossom of honest positiveness that sent a wave of heat into your cheek. If only you could do more...

''Hey, I was only faster that's all. Sieglinde had this glint in her eyes when she left earlier, I think she's been really worried about you too, aren't you the first friend she made in a long time?''

''We... weren't really close.'' Now that was a lie, she clearly felt bashful.
>>
''Yet she agreed to have you interact with the Throne despite her reactions after learning of my escapade with her mother?'' You knew full well this wasn't going to help you a single bit but damn it, it was impossible to avoid feeling smug about it, it was like you've gone and pulled a prank with the Demon Lord of all people.

''Now listen here!'' Elina thoroughly fell for your bait and stepped closer, wings flapping and index wagging with disapproval. ''Don't phrase it like having an affair! Second, I didn't enter the damn thing and put myself at deadly risks, all I did is operate it in manners she fully agreed with!''

''Yep, she agreed to have you touch the most important monstrous artifact in the world.'' You retort left her silent, mouth closing into a tight line of frustrated lips. ''Face it, Sieglinde cares about you and I'm certain Teruko and Vilma share a similar mindset. They'll prove it to you if you give them a chance.''

Granted you were making a leap in logic here, you couldn't be absolutely certain of their mindset but you haven't spotted any hints of the contrary.

''I...huh..'' She took a prudent step back. ''I suppose... I don't know if I have enough... I mean ugh, I kinda feel scared and embarrassed to go and repeat what I've said to you.'' The angel groaned and rubbed her face, finally showing something different than sad resolution.

''I can give you a little pat on the back.'' You responded, taking a step closer while she rolled a long strand of blond hair around a finger. ''Try and take a chance with them, I'll remain your ally, Elina but you do have to take some initiative.''

''And you...'' Green eyes narrowing, the angel showed an aggressive face and bridged the distance with one mighty step. ''...You need to get in better shape.'' She huffed in a manner all too similar to Sieglinde, poking your ribs with a finger. ''You're a bit lanky, you should do some daily exercise, you know that I spend at least 40 minutes flying and running each morning?''

Why in the world is she going straight for the jugular now? It takes some effort to avoid making an impetuous retort and that allows you to realize a rather endearing little development with this heavenly girl.

''You don't have to hide your embarrassment.'' You grinned and she shook her head with energetic denial.

''I'm only saying that's its embarrassing that a man can't hold himself against the majority of the women surrounding him.'' Now that stung, Sieglinde, Daiyu, and Belphegor aren't exactly easy targets.

''You're numbering yourself with those girls who can so easily best me?'' You ask, feeling strangely satisfied with how desperate she's trying to bait you into an emotional outburst, she's really not used to people being worried about her.

''Obviously.'' She tugs on the hair firmly rolled around her finger. ''Maybe I should try and coach you in the coming mornings...''

Now, you've done everything you could to be a dutiful man so far, but being lazy during your morning is one of your rare guilty pleasures.

>''Remember you've still got a debt to me? I feel like collecting right now, it's about time to clear your debt with this man you can oh so easily best in battle.'' (A spot of wings touching before would do nicely. You can't just let her get away with such blatant...rude truths)

>''I'm not sure if I should call you adorable or childish right now, maybe both. You really couldn't find any reproach about me so you took the low hanging fruit hm? Maybe it's time to tuck you into bed, all these emotions are clearly draining.'' (Playing her game would be fun, it's good to see you've managed to instill enough cheer to have her tease you but you ought to sleep, tomorrow is an important day.)

>''I'm not sure if I should call you adorable or childish right now, maybe both. You really couldn't find any reproach about me so you took the low hanging fruit hm? Maybe it's time to tuck you into bed, all these emotions are clearly draining.'' I'm not sure if I should call you adorable or childish right now, maybe both. You really couldn't find any reproach about me so you took the low hanging fruit hm? There's really no shame in being unable to best supreme monsters, powerful angels, or the Demon Lord herself in a straight fight. Perhaps you think I have the potential to rival or exceed the great heroes? You flatter me."
>>
''I'm not sure if I should call you adorable or childish right now...''

''Then don't say either!'' Elina interrupts you abruptly, leaning closer for her wing tap your flank. ''I-I got the message so let's... go back.''

''I'm still flattered you think I've got enough potential to eventually hold my own against supremes, though given your bold claims I'd like to see you enforce your talent in a duel against her Majesty one day so I'd truly understand the depth of your magnificence, milady.''

Elina palmed her face and mumbled a groaning plaint that could be roughly translated as ''I did it again.'' She made a point to stay silent after your remark, keeping an even stride beside you as you made your way into the long, long corridor.

Today was the beginning of many new steps, from hints of your memories to glimpses of summoning wonders, yet a romantic part of yourself wondered if your decision with Elina had eclipsed everything you've done so far, learning about this enigmatic haloing woman and having her informally clutch to your arm as you progressed into the hallway felt so... nice.

''Maybe I'll wake you up in the morning for a little exercise.''

''Learn to knock first.'' You retorted, earning a mischievous smile.

Knew it. She liked busting your room open without warnings, too bad there are no locks!

Day 07 End
--
>>
The morning of your second week changed slightly from usual because you had opted to sleep in your sad little bedroom to keep a proper image with her majesty presence and, of course, jot down your endearing moment with Elina.

''Things will be happening at midday.'' Was your first greeting when you nonchalantly ventured into the princess wide open room, a new table had been somehow dragged in there where Elina, Teruko, and Belphegor were playing a game of cards with still warm breakfasts beside them and Hao observed intensely, trying to learn this activity that was undeniably unusual for this vengeance seeking tomboy.

''Nervous?'' You asked the little lich who was sitting in silence next to her new lord, taking tiny pieces of a lukewarm breakfast and forcing them into her mouth.

''Not re-re...rea-a... hungry.'' Was a greeting tepid like her food. ''H-have to eat anyway...''

''We're not planning on doing much today.'' Sieglinde continued, movements in the corner of your eyes revealed her mother sitting crossed legged on the large bed, her majesty had just put down a book. ''Don't feel too stressed, we'll be here in case anything happens.''

''No pressure at all hm?'' Daiyu had moved like a snake, soundless steps and her arms gently squeezing your shoulders almost made you leap out of your seat. ''You're my daughter retainer now, darling.'' She continued with a gentle, motherly smile as your stomach began to knot in nervousness. ''This battle won't decide your future, at least not entirely but... it is important to show us all your spirit.''

''Mom...'' Sieglinde squinted, throwing a pea into the Demon Lord sea of green hair.

''I understand.'' Vilma answered firmly without facing her majesty. ''I'll... do it.''

''That you will my dear.'' Daiyu released her hold and you took a badly needed gulp of air.

''I'd like to ask you, Arawn, would you like to accompany me for a little something?'' She sat in the empty chair beside you, spaded tail hovering in a hypnotic wavy dance. ''After eating of course.''

This inviting statement turned many heads.

''Don't even think about going back into the Throne.'' Sieglinde warning was accompanied by a dangerous frown.

''Nonsense! I just want a little... how to say, a tête-a-tête, a little something I want to speak with him; it'd take a while to explain to context to all of you.'' Daiyu leaned forward to pinch a piece of fruits. ''Won't take long, what say?''

Not exactly official but the Demon Lord herself is requesting to speak with you alone...?

''Mom... Arawn is a good boy, don't-''

''Are you implying I'm docile, your highness?'' You can't just sit there and let her continue and your interruption as her eyes widening with the kind of guilty realization where the only words in her mind are ''Did I say that out loud?''

''Ufufu...'' Daiyu laugh had Sieglinde clear her throat.

''You're a good man is what I'm saying, don't read too much into it.'' A quiet little snicker from Vilma at least made this light humiliation worth it.

''Anyway, don't do anything too... well you know what I mean.'' Unfamiliar eyes would easily mistake Sieglinde words as arrogant since, really, she was trying to wrangle her mother as if she was an unruly kid yet Daiyu was glowing in happiness, beaming a wide smile that almost passed as pride.

''Priscilla will accompany us.'' Her Majesty answered, shifting her gaze at the dutiful silent maid washing dirty dishes.

''Alright, I can accept that.'' A faint redness around her nose and a guilty frown had her eyes wander to you, guilt so clearly written on her face about this slip of the tongue you were genuinely starting to feel awful about pouting.

Ah well, another peaceful morning.

--

''It's a little deeper in.''

Finishing breakfast had the Demon Lord insist on carrying you away from the room for this little chat that was apparently going to take place somewhere inside this floor. At first, you wondered if you'd be going back for the Throne but a turn into another direction - the corridor housing Belphegor personal elevator- revealed her majesty had another plan.

''Is it something sensitive, your highness?'' You spoke while rubbing your stomach, the maid dutifully walking beside you had a magic touch with food and you always made a point to thank her.

Right now Priscilla walked straight as a statue without uttering a word.

''Hm, yeah unfortunately so I'm afraid. Doesn't make for a good morning...'' Daiyu snapped a finger, pointing at a closed-door entirely made of metal. ''...but it has to be done. We really need a little chat.'' The austere maid dutifully went to open the door, revealing a room drenched in darkness; being this deep inside the floor without a window in sight made it impossible for morning lights to illuminate anything.

''Alright, that'll do. Let's go, let's go.'' Daiyu clapped her hands together in a soft patter that followed her steps. ''Light is deeper inside, I'll go turn it on. Just step in.''
>>
Going into a dark room with the world most powerful monarch...? Now that'd raise goosebumps for any man but the way Daiyu so casually strolled inside to be engulfed by shades motivated you to follow, even if the metal nature of the floor and walls were far from inviting. What is this place...?

When the door suddenly closed and a burst of white light blinded you, you fished for a handle in futility. A loud noise of deep metallic scratching reverberated throughout this square metal room, her majesty Daiyu Jawahir had taken hold of this place single chair and had turned it around, pressing her bust on its wide back and sitting with spread legs, facing you with a face not quite empty of warmth but her hardened expression was more than enough to make you understand her seriousness - and potential hostility.-

''This door only opens from the outside.'' Her voice wasn't so casually friendly anymore, the door didn't even have a handle! ''I'm sorry about this Arawn, this is far from quaint but I think you understand why I had to give proper... decor for our chat.''

''Your majesty?'' Your mouth was dry, your tongue had lost a bit of sensation, making you constantly lick your lips. The Demon Lord wasn't so gently casual anymore, her face was a mask of prudent neutrality that, coupled with this all-metal atmosphere, made you feel like a rat.

''You share a precious friendship with my daughter and trust me -I respect that- but I can't allow suspicious acts to go on without understanding their context, hm? So why don't you come clean, my good sir?'' Daiyu leaned forward, kimono straining against the chair as her bust squished against it in a most alluring way. ''Did you really think you wouldn't be watched? I don't want to imply anything untoward... you've made a mistake but, trust me, this really can be a happy one.'' She smiled as you frowned in complete confusion.

''I know what you did last night, there's no need to play coy.''

That... what? She's serious, you can see it in her eyes; those wide shiny emeralds are locking you in place, making you wonder if, maybe, she had some kind of mind spell going. You facing the full brunt of the Demon Lord suspicion and it was a very unpleasant thing.

>''Have I offended you in some way by going into the balcony with your daughter and her friends?'' (Be frank, that's what you did last night)

>''I'm afraid to be thoroughly confused, your majesty. What is it do you suspect me of?'' (Return the question, inquire about her intention. You shouldn't give an inch, this is a full-blown confrontation.)

''Have I... offended you by accompanying your daughter last night, your majesty?'' Never will you apologize for last night. Learning about Hao and Sieglinde dream, then speaking with Elina made for such an amazing memory... Courage and defiance filled your body with renewed strength and you look at the Demon Lord without wavering.

She smiled.

''Absolutely not.'' Daiyu rubbed her chin on her resting hands. ''My reclusive Sieglinde somehow made friends without even Belphegor knowledge and all six of you have grown close indeed, I realized it when I saw all of you sleeping inside her massive bed.'' Daiyu smile was a wonderful thing, an honest display of a mother happiness whose endless worries had lessened.

Unfortunately, she hadn't warmed a single bit and continued to face you with this mask of calculated neutrality. ''This makes you someone I have to be delicate with, in fact, I'm genuinely pained; I truly appreciated our escapade, made me feel so much younger.''

''Your majesty....'' Why did she fool you into coming here?

''You have no idea what it is that made me suspicious?'' She asked, raising an eyebrow.

''I would never attempt to hurt my benefactors, Daiyu.'' You place a hand on your heart, taking a firm forward step that resonated in this enclosed environment. ''I do so swear upon the forgotten memory of my family.''

''Your dad was an honorable king.'' This remark stung, it brought a wince to your face and the Demon Lord kept her merciless stare. ''You've proven yourself a truthful man, Belphegor and Teruko wouldn't be so warm to a liar; I trust their instincts. There's also our little affair in the Throne, your amnesia is true, which make our situation that much more baffling.''

''I only ask the chance to prove my honesty to your majesty.'' All you've done is help and worries about your friend with only tidbits of selfish indulgence about clearing your memories, none of it had escaped the Demon Lord.
>>
''Call me Daiyu, please.'' She made a dismissive wave, leaning back with outstretched wings. ''Let's make a deal. If you convince me you're a wholesome man and dispell my current suspicion, not only am I going to apologize, but I'll owe you a favor.'' She winked, gripping her chair. ''Don't think about failure, I don't like saying mean things.''

''I...I'm huh?'' At least her demeanor had changed, calling it better was far-fetched. ''Have I truly caused such distrust...?''

''Yes.'' Her bluntness was dry despite the charismatic warmth radiating from her gorgeous self, her smile was one of mischievous arrogance that managed to be so incredibly inviting... ''Either you're a victim or the most fantastic actor I've ever met in my life, so are you going to agree with that little gamble of mine?'' Convincing her of your innocence -from something she's keeping well hidden- felt like playing dice with your very future.

>''Very well, Daiyu. Once this is over I'll fully expect an apology and a date on top of that favor. You'll find out I'm a trustworthy guy.'' (You're not about to take this lying down if this is your first trial in this new home... well, better be bold!)

>''Yeah, please inform me of everything, your majesty. You'll find the correct conclusion.'' (Stay neutral, being a bit too passionate won't do at all.)

>''I'd rather not commit to such a thing, your majesty. Please, give me a chance to show you who I am...'' (She's toying you with, keep yourself distant)

I'm still unsure of what this is and you owing me a favor doesn't appeal to me but if you know something about me that I don't for better or worse I'd like to know. My only other options are to metaphorically kill my self or soul bond with people and let them see who I was as well and with what we saw in your throne I don't think I'll like who I was very much.

With that being said I think shes using all this vague menacing nonsense as some sort of cruel joke to see how we act under pressure or shes way more paranoid then I was thinking.

>>2647188
"I'll take a bet on a sure thing. So sure is that bet, in fact, that I'd like to call in that favor now. You seem to have memories of who I was and, likely, of a terrible crime I committed given your distrust and what I saw in the Throne. I can take it, please, tell me what I did, so that I may avoid becoming that kind of man in the future."

If she's playing us this display of earnest concern will possibly give her pause. If she's not then it'll solidify in her mind that we really are an amnesiac and that at the very core kernel of our personality was an honest and good person no matter what else.

''I have to confess with being thoroughly confused about your intention, your majesty.'' A sharp grimace came over her face as you kept yourself so formally. ''Daiyu, I'm sorry. I don't quite understand why you'd bring me here and intimidate me about something I've absolutely no clues about. Having you owe me a favor in these circumstances isn't appealing, I'd rather win a game of dices.''

''Mh, then how am I suppose to properly apologize if I'm wrong about you?'' Her plush lips opened slightly to reveal rows of shiny, wet teeth as she observed you with unmitigated amusement.

''You've admitted to believing my amnesia, so if you are suspicious about me because of something I've done in the past... please, I'd like you to tell me everything you can. Yesterday revelations gave me a hunch I might not like the man I was''

''I'd have been far more direct about your history if I knew it, my dear prince.'' Daiyu leaned back, hip-wings spreading in synch with those beside her head. ''No, I've had to be a mean motherhen because you've been naughty last night.''

Despite her friendliness, Daiyu gaze was a burning stare that almost made you squirm, had she been closer might have been unable to keep your composure. ''Not feeling too tired?'' She asked with a chilling smile, chair cracking under her weight as she slowly maneuvered to her feet, wing slapping into it nonchalantly, slamming the furniture on the metal ground in a grating noise of violence.

''No, I... I'm a bit sore, to be honest.'' She took a step closer, boots covered feet managing to echo in this cubic room and thankfully stopped before breaching your personal space.
>>
''Being out in the small hours of mornings isn't healthy.'' Like the mother she was, Daiyu tone held this timbre of gentle authority that would have been endearing under different circumstance.

''You weren't even subtle, which is really surprising because you do strike me as a smart man...'' You could only furrow your brows, bewildered by this accusation and Daiyu smirk was a full display of arrogance, she faced you with crossed arms on her belly, glinting gaze ferociously seeking all of your weaknesses.

''Guards saw you leave this floor, proceed downstairs and then exit this altar.'' Daiyu wagged a finger, always smile. ''You then walked into the forest and did a magical ritual, then proceeded back here and went back into your room to sleep, altogether you were out of bed for about forty minutes.'' The Demon Lord grasped her hips, forced smile retreating into an honest that finally showed her true emotions.

''What were you doing, I wonder?'' She asked firmly.

''I-I don't...'' Images of Elina semi-conscious shambling resurfaced, brought from the depth of your memory by a surge of adrenaline. ''Could it be... sleepwalking?''

''Wouldn't that be a fancy thing, there are many things that can induce such a reaction but pure, genuine sleepwalking wouldn't have you do something so elaborate.''

What in the world? You went outside last night after going to bed? That's preposterous!

>''Let's go see what I've done then, Daiyu. I have absolutely no clue what's happening, getting a faceful of my activity should put some perspectives.'' (Perhaps facing this mystery head-on will prove your innocence.)

Though Daiyu is wrong; there are documented cases of people sleepwalking and cooking breakfast for their family at 1am, and of one man who drove several miles to stab his mother in law to death.
Pure sleepwalking can make people do very complex things.

''I've no clue how to do a ritual in the first place, Daiyu could we go and see this scene? If so many eyewitnesses saw me going out at night, I want to see this thing for myself.'' Dread replace fear, the Demon Lord didn't look so intimidating anymore after this revelation but this also instilled a dangerous kind of doubt; what in the world did you do without any conscious thoughts? How could that lead to her majesty being so suspicious of you?

''Eager to leave hm?'' Daiyu added a sweet giggle that reverberated in the room, her heavy steps followed and you gulped with intense nervousness when she leisurely crossed path with you. ''A little walk should do us good, work hard to convince me, alright?'' She softly caressed the length of your jawbone with a curled finger and promptly punched the door at a set interval of four knocks.

The maid standing outside, Priscilla, opened the way out without comment, only this eternal mask of austere neutrality. ''Let's go outside.'' The tall green demoness announced.

--
It was still early morning when you ventured outdoor, students were few and far between with guards and general personnel making the bulk of passerby, thankfully none of them gave you the evil eye; The Demon Lord presence was always an eye raiser but your strange actions were kept well under wrap.

''Gossips wouldn't do.'' The Demon Lord had caught you staring at many of the guards during your progress for the public garden.

Of course, your relationship with her daughter wasn't exactly unknown but perhaps she kept a lid on rumors for your sake, too...

''A little bit deeper... around the trees, you went there yesterday afternoon right?''

''Yeah...'' You were threading familiar grounds, well-paved roads shifted into dirt paths leading into a nicely maintained forest that had borne witness to your unusual summoning ritual with Vilma.

''Now then, let's take a look.'' Gesturing off-path, the Demon Lord tapped you on the shoulder and forced you to walk beside her while Priscilla followed behind, you rounded a familiar oak and ended up in a tiny spot of vegetation where a red ribbon had been put near a rock covered in lichen. ''Behind that.'' She winked and so both of you strode over that obstruction...

To reveal nothing significant. Only grass and humid mud because of morning dew. ''Your majesty?''

''Hm, I guess I shouldn't expect you to reveal it. Alright, let's take a proper peek.'' Taking a small tube out of a pocket of her kimono, she uncorked the metal object and sprayed blue liquids around the suspected area.

The reaction was immediate, something had been carved into the very soil and the Demon Lord actions caused a vivid reaction, a strange symbol seemed to burn like charcoal without heat, carved into dirt and grass. A swirl inside a rectangle, simple enough to the eyes yet continuous stare caused pain as if staring at the sun.

''That's a Rune of Passage.'' Daiyu announced grimly, yet still grinning broadly, a dangerous twinkle in her eyes directed at you.

''I..I don't...'' How in the world did you do something like that!?

''Call it the ancestor of portals. The very first attempt at magical teleportation, they were created during the era of Pretenders and are very effective as a mean of instantaneous travels, although they have far too many problems to make them truly viable, still, it seems a few lunatics are willing to employ them.'' Despite the freshness around you, Daiyu tongue peeked out of her mouth to trail along her plush peachy lips. ''And camouflage them.''

''How... How could I have done this?'' You felt like tearing your eyes, this damn thing was... what the hell, how!?

''That's what I'd like to know, several guards saw you walk outside and one of my agents trailed you to find this...'' She gestured at the rune that was already starting to fade. ''...suspect my good dear, especially since those things are one way only, it's nexus isn't here.''

How...? How!?

''I don't understand how I could have done something so elaborate.'' Morning freshness wasn't enough to prevent nervous sweating, your clothes were sticking to your skin uncomfortably. ''My nature is tied to souls, I've discovered it with Teruko and so far, what I can do amount to bodily reinforcement and becoming a battery for spells...'' With a tidbit of freaky arms that didn't need mention.

Daiyu didn't say anything, one of her hands wormed around her leathery wing to hold her hip, this tall, powerful monarch observed you in silence with this sweet smile on her features that almost managed to be disarming.

''If I could replicate this operation, I would.'' You continue, making her eyebrow raises. ''If only to find out where this thing leads.'' You gesture at the now invisible rune, it had melted flawlessly with all the surrounding nature.

''Has it been activated, your majesty?''

Your question was met by silence, the demoness face presented this expression of smug mischief, a sense of satisfaction surrounded her, and enough self-confidence to make it impossible to sway her with petty words. ''This rune is always active, hence the camouflage.'' She answered softly, flapping her wings. ''If you meant that someone already used it - no. That'd have raised a whole lot of problems on its own, I decided to leave it alone for now because you clearly needed to explain yourself, dear.'' Her beaming grin was ironic.

''I understand, is it possible to know where it goes?'' You didn't like her expression, given current circumstances... Mental imagery of a spider traveling her webs caused goosebumps to erupt all over your skin.

''No, it'll dispell itself if we tamper with it, I wanted to see if you could come clean about it, darling.'' Another smile, Daiyu relaxed her posture to wrap her arms under her bust, keeping her stare on you.

''Daiyu, could you tell me about these things? What's a Rune of Passage? Why use them if they have shortcoming?'' Your words provoked a frown and her majesty expression changed into thoughtful closed eyes that didn't herald anything good.

''Rune of Passages are short ranged, its nexus would need to be somewhere in Throne Town because of our enclosed dimension.'' Palming her elbow, her majesty levered an index and followed by a second finger. ''Next and most important point is that employing this thing rob you of our world natural protection, there are a great many predators dwelling between dimensions darling, suckers of souls and cosmic horrors that would love nothing more than feasts on your succulent presence... To use such a rune is to make yourself a target. Making them is rather easy, a little combination of blood magic with knowledge of the nexus then... voila, you've got a nice doorway into this forest.''

''Are you...'' Now that brought some perspective, who would use such a thing? ''...speaking from experience, your majesty?''

''Yes.'' Daiyu hand curled into a fist. ''Never using this thing again.'' Her smile twinkled with violent eyes. ''This rune is still useful because one doesn't need major artifacts or groups of mages to create means of instantaneous travels and, as you've witnessed, it can be hidden and placed until one needs their services...''

''Why use them if it makes you insane?'' You almost succumbed to the urge of stomping into that tiny ritualistic area to raid it to nothing.

''Good question isn't it, my dear?'' Daiyu lowered her arm, head wings flapping. ''These things are old knowledge, entirely phased out of public perception; it'd take an immortal or a particularly scholarly man to remember their existence. That you went and made it, well... since it's meant for something else to be transposed in here, one could assume you have an accomplice.''

Or some kind of antagonist... although how in the world could such a thing even happen?

Given her stance, Daiyu doesn't seem convinced of your innocence, although she's mercifully calm and giving you needed space to think, she was well within her right to feel so suspicious of you now.

>''Daiyu, is it possible that I've been hypnotized? Could you tell me how charms and geas work?'' (This is the ONLY thing you can think of. No way did you subconsciously write a freak insanity-inducing rune meant to teleport an intruder here.)

>''I... I'm afraid of myself, your majesty. What you'Ve revealed to me now, I fully understand your reasoning and actions. Is there anything I could do to prove my good faith?'' (Appeal to her, this is close enough to an admission of guilt but... surely she can see your honesty.)

To dispel the Rune is to let the accomplice know that we are on to them. Better to let them think they are still hidden while we hunt them down.

Thanks for running and would it be possible to turn our self into a summon of sorts more like a giving us a monstrous layover then another ally to fight with?
>>
Do you mean like becoming a summon entirely? That's impossible. Summons are pieces of souls cobbled together, sentient creatures/souls without bodies or a very specific set of monsters (fairies are very particular groups.)

It's not possible to become a summon when you've got a body of your own.

If you meant trying to summon Buddy, then.. well, you'll need to learn about him before anything else, right?
>>
>>2649974
I was thinking of more like instead of using it as your classic summon monster type of deal making it like an outer shell or armor type of thing look at the totem armor from MtG.
>>
>>2649990
So using aspect of Buddy instead, conjuring traits of itself into your body as an enchantment of sort.

Possible but highly difficult.
>>
>>2650018
Our magic is something that we'll have to toy around a lot with for us to be anything more than a battery/monk but it'll be fun to experiment.
>>
>>2649738
I'd normally be against saying that as it's a textbook "Prisoner's Dilemma" action. You've been caught and if you rat first you'll save your own hide but good if the "accomplice" decided to do the dumb thing and trust you. That is to say, it'd be something Daiyu would expect of a filthy traitorous backstabbing knife-eared asshole that she isn't fully convinced that we are not (Thank GOD she's giving us the benefit of the doubt here. Because this tier level of shit can logically warrant summary executions).

However, we have no accomplice in our conscious mind. Only an enemy trying to fuck over our precious friends. Thus we really do have a good chance of selling it to her so I say go on ahead and do it. If she doubts us the girls will vouch with vehemence. Two of them have linked to our soul, one of em' even munched on it. If we were an Eldrad-tier dick they would have sensed that and acted accordingly.

Assuming we truly weren't Eldrad-tier before. Because if we were then full on "Death Note" levels of self-deception and plots within plots are possible.

That male Oni motherfucker! He even said his expertise was in runes for Christ's sake!

Could be a publicity stunt if I'm trying to spin this positively. If you want to sell your services to clientele of Daiyu's caliber you need to make an impression and by god this kinda shit would do it.

He's still a dick for doing it this way so like with the bitches who called us knife-eared we have a debt to repay once we level up a bit. A good punch, hard to the gut, that cracks a rib or two. We don't let shit like this slide.

''Daiyu.'' You turned to face the demonic liege, earning a set of raised eyebrows in response followed by an expression of viperous warmth. ''I've never been taught anything about hypnotism or geas, is it possible that I've been a victim of one?''

''I was wondering when you'd ask that.'' She answered while taking a step closer, sending a chill up your spine. ''The short answer is yes, I'll gloss over details, I don't feel like giving a long lecture.''

She cleared her throat while keeping a prudent stare in your direction, always gentle, almost trustful yet clearly apprehensive.

''There are several degrees with mind control, let's skip over charms for now and stick to geas because that's the only thing potent enough to instill you with the expertise you don't have, though hypnotism in of itself is difficult to pull off.'' Her majesty took a few sideways steps and stopped near a small oak, one of many in this fake forest, and put a hand on its trunk then faced you with a blossoming smirk.

''If you were skilled in geas and used one on me right now, with, say, a compulsion for me to strip naked...'' She toyed with her kimono, revealing a naked shoulder and causing feelings much more different than dread to heat your body. ''I'd like it.'' She smirked. ''But it'd still be useless because I'd be expecting this spell and thus my mind subconsciously prepared to resist it, geas can only work if the target doesn't realize it.''

''I...see.'' Good watchful Mother Earth, someone who's your judge, jury, and executioner shouldn't be so alluring.

''Next is the order itself.'' A sweet giggle escaped her, perhaps finding mirth in your expression. ''Succesful implantation is worthless if the command demands something anathema with the victim morality... Say, ordering me to harm my daughters, would make your geas useless.''

''With nobody being hurt in the making of this rune, it'd be possible to implant it then.'' You commented and she noded, bringing an idle gaze into the camouflaged area of that rune.

'Not knowing or understanding the rune purpose wouldn't prevent its successful implantation. After all, you said it yourself, nobody got hurt in the making of this thing... right?'' A charming wink followed, making swallowing awkward.

''I...I truly hope so, your majesty.'' She frowned at your bad habit.

''Now to not only instill knowledge but actually create a geas that'll operate completely unnoticed and make you wake up from a deep slumber...'' A sudden crack resonated out of Daiyu silhouette as she began the long, methodic exercises of popping her fingers. ''...Only Deruella can pretend to possess such intricate talents and she's not so adept with runes; it'd certainly make for a very, very skillful manipulator to single you out like this, hm? One who didn't quite do his homework given your position.''

''Mayhap your suspicion is exactly this person intention, sowing discord inside your daughter growing circle of friendship...'' Both you and Daiyu showed a simultaneous frown, if not an exact replica of one another expressions. ''...it's a disgusting thing.''

''Hrm.'' Stretching her fingers, Daiyu wings made a few audible flaps as she let out a few more growls for good measure. ''Wouldn't be the first time people messed with my family, nobody learns despite piling bodies.''

Another keen remainder of your mortality, her statement sounded out of place, if not a little childish, but goodness this warm mother truly held your life in her hands.

''Daiyu.'' Change the subject, Arawn. ''Can this place be guarded or observed in case the rune react? I've no idea what our culprit is after but dispelling it would make him understand his game is up, I'd like to hunt that bastard down.''

A dangerous shine of violence dwelt inside her majesty emerald eyes. ''That was my own thinking, it's easy enough to dispell with the right material but that'd be such a waste. If one of my enemies is brazen enough to create a backdoor, then I'll prepare accordingly. Although...'' Her lips stretched upward to reveal rows of dangerous white teeth. ''...There might be more.''

''You mean... it'd be possible for this hypnotist to geas several people?'' Her majesty nodded, bringing a hand through her long green hair to send it into a familiar flutter.

''Of course, you're the only one who got caught but there could be many runes spread throughout this fortress, getting rid of this one wouldn't be much of a victory... I wanted to see if you could answer these important questions.'' She paused, turning around to rest her back on the tree to face you with a more serious expression now, her outstretched wings cast ominous shadows with the rising sunlight.

''Tell me frankly now, my dear Arawn Loukanos. How can you explain your action?'' There it is now, the climax of Daiyu Jawahir suspicion which, honestly, felt gentle as she gave you more than enough personal space and time for you to think things over. She was giving you a chance despite your apparent guilt; in a way, she was wishing to believe you.

It's up to you to prove yourself, how exactly could have fallen to hypnotism? Is there another possibility to explain this rune and your strange behavior?

>Write in (You don't need to be super eloquent here, this is a moment where you need to agree on a proper explanation to satisfy the Demon Lord.)

Can't make a proper reply now. The answer should involve Harkon (blue male one's name I think). We saw a rune in his eye and he said he was great with runes. He wanted to see someone about something (can't check that thread atm). He's the likely culprit.
>>
>>2651605
Honestly we have no real evidence or idea how this was done. We only know that we did not do this of our own volition. It could have been the blue oni we met, or a spirit possessed us since we drew their attention while helping Vilma.
If there is a way to scan our mind or force us to answer under a geas then I would jump at the chance.

That's actually possible, it'll require a rather elaborate ritual since geas are naturally dispelled by a readied mind, there are ways to circumvent it.

It's not a subtle thing, so that's why Daiyu hasn't explained that point.

''I cannot present any evidence to prove my innocence, your majesty .'' There was no reaction to your words, her inviting stares of green felt almost reassuring, it was a sign of an impressive self-mastery. ''I haven't done this ritual out of my own volition, I remember meeting a strange male oni yesterday noon, when you accompanied your daughter for some business in Internalisation, I followed the girls in Throne Town and we crossed path with Belphegor.''

''I've heard of this man.'' Daiyu tone was a perfect level of neutrality, her emotions managed to show with a flap of those head wings. ''Entered legally, his presence turned many heads, are you implicating him?''

''As I've said, I've no evidence.'' You shook your head. ''I only remember one of his eye glowing a strange light, his pupil flashed with a strange rune as he went away. There weren't any troubles.''

''Hrm...'' Daiyu clutched her elbows, adding a frown with her groan. ''That's exactly how to sneak a geas in an unsuspecting victim, especially from a self-titled runemaster. Suspicious. All the guards in the gatehouse witnessed this event, so your story is indeed true, flashing eye aside.''

''That's the only strange thing I can think of, aside perhaps from having been flashed by someone in the crowd or a spirit possesses me after my ritual with Vilma...'' Her majesty plush lips curled upward into a smile.

''Your market adventure could have carried this consequence yes, as for spirits... Impossible; possessions are violent unless perpetrated by an actual master. You'd have done something far worse.''

At least that's an option to gray out. Hesitation stilled your tongue while the supreme succubus kept this leisure stance, craning her head down so as to observe you with upturned eyes, asking one last silent question.

''If there's a way to impose on me a geas, a drug or magical examination; anything -anything at all- then I request you doing it, Daiyu, because I'd like nothing more than building a friendly relationship with you. I understand your suspicion so I'd love nothing more than dispelling it.''

That earned a new set of raised eyebrows and it motivated the Demon Lord to push herself off the tree with her wings, taking long deliberate strides, bridging enough distances to leave nothing more than a meter between you. ''You're really trying to be sincere hm?'' Her smile was one of warmth, a motherly thing poisoned by doubt.

You could only lower your head and nod.

''Alright, let's settle this once and for all. You've been earnest enough to touch an old hag heart.'' Those words held hope, mirth and a tint of joy, enough to cause a rush of adrenaline that was quickly stilled when Daiyu wrapped her arms around your neck.

Being a full head taller than you (not that you're short, only Sieglinde rivals your height!) her majesty managed to find a medium between firmness and gentle grapple. She guided your head toward her neck, lowering her arm on your upper back to hold onto both of your shoulders. ''Y-your majesty?'' You could only stare with near bulging eyes at her smooth neck of peachy skin and that scent, a sweet, sharp thing that tickled your nostril... gods above your instincts were primed like a teenager.

''I'll give you two choices, Arawn.'' Daiyu had lowered her head to crone into your ear, caused an involuntary shiver to wrack your body. ''If you swear upon Sieglinde good name that you believe yourself innocent, then I will believe in my daughter judgment. If we find out you truly are victimized, then...'' She wrapped both arms around your shoulders now, forcing you to take a step forward, her grown body pressed against you, full heavy breasts clad by soft dark silk pressing against your torso while her spaded tail wrapped itself around your leg, firmly holding on to prevent any attempts at fleeing.

''I'll do everything I can to earn your forgiveness. My eldest is finally reaching out to people, making friends and I would never forgive myself if I broke her fledging companionship.'' Warm tepid air caressed your skin. ''Break this oath and I will chase you to the world end.''

Instincts of self-preservation stilled your body, your mind reeled, rethreading memories until you remembered Sieglinde shapeshifting. This woman embracing you was the Demon Lord, mother of three Lilims. Her arms, firm yet soft could transform into wicked things that'd squash your bones in a deadly hug, these lips almost touching your skin could change, unleashing predatory teeth and reinforced jaw that'd bite half of your head off.

Yes, this woman is dangerous. Calling her a spider, viper, maybe even a bear is fitting; overprotective without touching into insanity.

''Otherwise...'' She continued, finally letting you go, pushing you gently so your back would rest on a tree. ''...we'll do one of those geas.'' She was so casual about it it was like requesting tea.

>Swear. You wish nothing evil upon any of your friends, this is not something to be afraid of.

''I swear it, Daiyu.'' These words felt natural, letting them out was like taking a long breath, resisting the urge would have been difficult.

''Alright.'' She crooned, suckling on the tip of her finger. ''Let's take a chance.''

''T-that's not all!'' Strength return to your legs and you leave your oaken support, taking a few adventurous steps forward while Daiyu looked on in surprise at this sudden display of rashness. ''I still want to do that geas, please let's dispell lingering doubts.''

''My dear Arawn.'' Daiyu nestled her arm between her breasts. ''That's not necessary at all, you've gone and made an oath with your very life...''

''I don't know if I can trust myself, Daiyu.'' You continued, earning a softer expression, your simple words had caused an entire shift in mindset from her majesty. ''What if this geas has more trigger? What if I do another bout of sleepwalking tonight?''

''Then we might be able to take advantages of such occurrences.'' She answered with a beaming grin, moving her hands behind her back while her stretchy leathery wings wrapped around her torso. ''Putting you under a Truth Geas would put great strain on your psyche and our sneaky rat could always try to do a little more with you if he believes you're still under control.''

''You want me to be bait?'' She winced at your words and looked away guiltily.

''I want to operate on a new mindset now my dear, you've taken important steps to prove yourself so it is my role to reciprocate although... you're not wrong. It's possible to remove that geas, but I'd rather leave things as is.'' A little chuckle escaped her. I will note that this is to capture the fucker who did this to us more than anything. I will also note that this gives Daiyu the *perfect* excuse to run full-time, full-spectrum surveillance on us.

I pray she will be discreet and assume we're safe when in the presence of the girls and lay off the surveilling during those periods. As well as not spy on us at night *inside* our room. The guard can be there with magical detectors and shit, but they can't peek inside unless there's a reason. Otherwise Daiyu will find out about our diary. If anyone finds out about it the temptation to read it will likely prove too much for them. Then we may have a situation on our hands we'd rather like to avoid.

Oh that's fine. I'm mostly interested in how things ended up for our last protagonist and I've burned through 95% of my new reading material on amazon unlimited so I'm plugging this in.

I really need to finish the app that pulls together OP posts into a single thread and cuts away the bullshit.
>>
>>2653483
Yeah, you might be a little disappointed there because I never got to finishing ToM 1. I burnt myself out and, in the end, decided it'd be much easier to continue with this sequel instead of forcing myself writing something I kept getting stuck in.

Seeing the old crew is still a possibility here, depending on how things go.
>>
>>2653488
Well you could always just provide an outline of where it was supposed to go. The threads only get to 134-2? Or are there more on an 4x2chan archive somewhere?
>>
>>2653498

134-2 is where it stops.

What happened in Zipangu is having an effect here, since the Demon Lord family was rather heavily affected during the crusade but it's true that it is old history by this point since 13 years have gone by.

I might work on an outline of events later.

>Was too bad IMO, you were working up towards "Operation Ouka" tier shit in regards to that final battle.

Yeah, I hyped it up but I also wrote myself into far too many corners and, honestly, I felt exhausted. It was my first attempt at writing a long campaign and I've learned a great deal.

The most important lesson is to not be afraid of making days past, short time skip and -most of all- slice of life moments. Writing day by day by day is exhausting, we're doing this here because finishing the intro also meant ending Vilma arc very soon but after that, you can expect time to pass much more liberally and I'Ve already implanted my belief of putting relaxed moments.

>Seems the Demon Lord's family got that and acted accordingly.

Zipangu would have lost without them. No if or but, Daiyu and Deruella were vital. Sieglinde was too wounded to be of any help.

>There is one more sister we've yet to meet right? Sieg and Deruella were a given, but you've hinted at a third I believe.

Her name is Martha and you'll be able to meet her too. She's doing something fairly important.

>>2653534

Just so long as we aren't skipping decades or anything. Drawing out our decisions to mean months or even a year of time is perfectly fine but beyond that we're gonna want to more finely tune our actions. We may be an immortal elf, but even we have a time preference.

Glad to see you wanna focus on slice of life moments however. I do value the softer side of things in between those moments of sheer terror you like to hand us. Seriously, I thought Daiyu would execute us in the summary fashion if we fucked up badly enough.

Like I said, our actions did warrant it if we gave the wrong answers...

''I won't pretend liking to leave this thing inside my mind, if, somehow I were to turn violent...''

''Don't worry, you won't be harmed... seriously.'' She made a point to wiggle her finger at that last word. ''It's also possible the geas dissipated by itself after you accomplished your objective, don't be too overly focused on the worst case scenario, we'll need to witness if you have another episode of sleepwalking tonight.''

You nodded. ''I understand, this could be a long investigation then?''

Daiyu mirrored your gesture, sending her long hair into another flutter. ''We got lucky about this, really and time is your ally because I'll grow that much likelier to fully believe in your innocence, my dear.'' A sweet giggle escaped the tall demoness, she turned to face you with hands on her hips. ''Maybe you should begin thinking how I should earn your forgiveness, hm?''

It seems Daiyu truly relish the idea of earning your pardon, it's good to see she's back to being so casual, although you can't exactly be treating this like a game given how damn close you were to suffer a Demon Lord wrath.

What a woman.

''Let's go back, I'd wager Sieglinde is getting antsy since we've been out long enough for the sun to have crawled out of its bed.'' Your interrogation coupled with this last tidbit of semi-coercion had taken more than enough time for the world to be illuminated. ''Oooh! Priscilla!'' Daiyu leisurely walked off this troublesome backdoor into her fortress, her headmaid flawlessly walked into view without so much as a spot of grass on her dress.

''Want to take today off? Why not grab your son and watch a duel that'll be happening at noon? I've heard you speaking about liking our little lich.''

''Your majesty...'' The solemn maid replaced her glass and closed her eyes.

Wait she's a mother?

Rethreading grounds leading into the tall tower that was the Jawahir household revealed Daiyu words as prophetic for the entirety of your group of friends was outside a few hours earlier than usual, all of them immediately spotting your arrival with mixed signals that varied between relief and disapproval.

''Mom!'' Sieglinde fumed, leaving the threshold of the altar to stomp toward her parent. ''Taking someone aside for a chat is fine but why the hell did it take you three hours? Seriously, we were getting worried.''

''Sorry, sorry.'' Daiyu slapped her hands together in a makeshift prayer, wings flapping while her leathery tail wagged mischievously. ''We had to talk that's all.'' Daiyu turned to you, a wink on her part made you understand you should keep this little event between yourselves.

''Yeah, everything fine.'' Sieglinde glared at you with obvious disbelief. ''Suspicious. First the Throne and now? You do understand that I'll make sure to get to the bottom of this?''

''You also have a Suppression mission to worry and your darling retainer big day is happening.'' Daiyu retorted with an obvious remonstrance, facing her eldest with practiced authority by glaring back fearlessly into Sieglinde fiery features.

''Yes, yes, our ladyship is right.'' Teruko had invited herself into this family chat and gesture for the other three girls to follow. ''It's about three hours before noon, whatever Daiyu wanted was harmless and she'll tell you soon enough.'' This last statement carried an invisible warning, the pregnant maiden launched a sharp glare at the liege lord of demon who answered with a smug grin.

Gods, how fearless is this lizard?

''Hm? Where's Belphegor?'' Daiyu asked her daughter, making you realize that indeed, the small goat was absent.

''Went to fetch Zazawu, he insisted on coming to see this bout.'' Sieglinde tone was quiet, if not regretful; a clear case of politic sneaking inside personal matter and her grimace clearly showed her inclination.

A brief examination of Elina revealed that she seemed to be doing better than yesterday and Hao hefted her magic axe on her shoulder, keeping her stare downward to observe Vilma who toyed with a certain precious bag.

Yeah, villains notwithstanding, today is your friend big moment.

>Insist on going into the wooden park you've so often used to practice in. Familiar sights should help Vilma relax.

>Getting into the arena early should be beneficial, it'd allow you to prepare adequately before a crowd inevitably shows up.

>Go back into the forest hiding the rune, perhaps you could attempt another ritual to speak with Buddy? You haven't heard anything out of him and how he's supposed to help Vilma.

''We won't be missing anything, right?'' Your voice brings all eyes in your directions. ''We should get into the arena before people begin to properly show up.'' You spot shadows of fear inside Vilma gaze as her upturned eyes briefly glare at you. That bag holding the bone dust that took such efforts to gather crunched gently in her hand.

''Mineself concur.'' Teruko nodded. ''Half a mind going berserk on anybody believing they could whisper rudeness on our passing, better make ourselves scarce and adopt ours rightful position.''

''Everyone okay with that?'' Sieglinde asked, earning loud agreements besides Vilma, making you wonder if, perhaps, you had been a little too invasive but the way she felt so completely closed made it obvious she wouldn't respond to anything.

--

With Priscilla leaving your group for personal matters, your band made swift progress for the familiar dueling grounds because it was plainly impossible to be subtle about it. Not only was the liege lord of monsters walking by your side but her eldest and de-facto leader of the entire fortress and academy was also present with, of course, the challenger being agonizingly silent. Many students were outside before usual practice hours into crowds of chatting girls animating by an unusual energy; somebody had been hard at work hyping up this event and had the pair of demons been absent, you'd have suffered a few jeers on your way inside the arena.

The small coliseum of white sand had a dozen or so personal members, all of which were lamias for an odd reason, cleaning benches, walls and even polishing a few pillars as everyone expected a packed event. The sudden impromptu visit of extremely import peoples sent them all into a frenzy to finish early.

''Been a while since I've been here.'' Daiyu commented, grinning widely as she pointed at visible damages on the walls, remnants of a certain fight. ''Now that's interesting.''

''Don't worry about that.'' Sieglinde cleared her throat and finished leading your group, stopping at a long bench that'd accommodate you all. ''We'll get into one of the gatehouses once people start showing up.'' She turned for Vilma whose staff often chimed with her awkward movements.

''I-I'm fine.'' She uttered without moving her head.

It didn't look that way, she seemed ready to crumble before the fight begin.

The poor girl was so stiff her bones seemed made from nearby rocks. With a grim atmosphere lingering in the group given what was about to happen, you got up from your seat and walked beside Vilma who didn't seem to register your presence.

Your hand landing on her shoulder was more than enough to make her jump out of contemplation.

''W-wa!?'' She gargled and frowned under your amused grin.

''You've worked pretty hard, girl.'' You try your best to ignore all of your friend's stares, Vilma own big amethysts eyes were all you needed. ''There's nothing to be afraid of. That shrew keeps on believing you don't have a place here but hell, we've all supported you and you've made your own decisions throughout the week, you're not that week willed pushover anymore. Ain't nobody but yourself can make that thick skull understand you're not an undesirable vagabond.''

Vilma hadn't expected this sudden heartfelt encouragement and her purplish skin visibly flushed, bell staff ringing loudly from nervous trembling. ''I-I...yeah I... I challenged her so... yeah...'' She grew silent, loudly swallowing her saliva.

''Cute.'' Elina spoke, having quietly tiptoed close to you. ''Our prince is still lacking in eloquence but he cares a whole lot.''

''Ours is justice side, yes. You have only need to show thine will, darling Vilma.'' There came Teruko, not quite leaving her seat because of her belly, her charming voice carried more than enough presence.

''Were friends.'' Elina continued after her teacher, Vilma's eyes were now firmly stuck on the ground. ''I'm not sure what'll happen in the future but that's not a fact I want to change.'' Her blue eyes drifted in your direction, both of you exchanging a knowing gaze. ''Stand back up after getting punched, I know you got your pride, there's no better way to show us your will -your gratitude- by standing back up after getting sucker punched.''

''My, rather barbaric. that's something mine husband would say.'' Teruko huffed and Elina shrugged in response.

''It's much better to dare and fail than being afraid of victory and defeat.'' Now Sieglinde voice resonated following the pale summoner. ''Whatever happens, Vilma. Get back up.''

You've gone and opened a floodgate. Hao loudly clapped and gave two thumbs ups after Sieglinde tried to mask her flushing cheeks

''You've read everything I gave you about Elenor, right?'' Daiyu opened Vilma's eyes, who finally faced her liege lord with something other than reverence.

''T-that was...?'' She muttered and a wide grin spread on her majesty face, always mischievous and decidedly selfish.

''Nobody can do anything about those records now, fight well my dear.''

>''Would you like to say anything, Vilma?'' (Gods that was sappy. She needed it and now she could use a push in the back, you've got a hunch she might like to say a few words.)

>''Perhaps we should wait for Belphegor, I'm sure she'd love to cheer you on, too.''

These are the last few moments before the duel, so I'm thinking my next answer will actually end the thread as there's only a single natural progression.

Unless you guys want to do something I haven't foreseen, this next choice should end things. Quite a lot of things has happened, it already feels like a mini-climax.

''Got a little speech prepared, Vilma?'' Your prompting succeeded in completely diverting her attention and the way her face melted into an expression of abject horror mixed with displeased accusation almost made you guffaw.

''We're the ones supposed to be making pep talks here!'' Elina remarks almost hid noises of opening doors, people were already slowly streaming in despite being a little over two hours early.

A curious gaze almost made you choke. A tall individual, a male of monstrous physique with blue skin and a horn jutting out of his forehead was speaking with a few lamias, accompanied by what looked to be a pair of instructors... and Mimiru was here, sneaking under the big male oni, the blond urchin witnessed your gaze and smiled. Her presence here... perhaps it was because of some arrangement yesterday.

Ggng! You can't leave now, everyone can observe this fight.

''Maybe we should head into that gateway already...'' Sieglinde mused, observing the arena. She hadn't witnessed that glint in Vilma's eyes, nobody did aside from yourself. Elina protectiveness gave birth to something raw, aggressive even, a beastly depth was rising to Vilma emotional surface like boiling water.

''I'll...I'll...'' Her voice wasn't broken, merely indecisive and when she gathered everyone attention, angel, monarch, princess, vagabond, amnesiac and displaced lizard... her eyes closed, her shoulder shook and she gripped her staff then loudly slammed it down.
>>
Clunk. There were no resonation, only this awkward slap but it managed to instill courage. Those shiny purples orbs were a step away from tears yet she contained herself.

''I'll fight'' Her announcement was akin a growl. ''I'll fight!'' That was a clearer message, her short stature felt similar to a tiny volcano; primed to burst a deadly phenomenon. ''I don't... I can't say anything worthwhile, it's been a week b-but I think... I think it's been the most important days of my life.'' Such clear eyes for one of undead nature. ''We.. all of you went into that hellish forest to help me gather ingredients...''

Her pause had her put emphasis on that bag dangling from a rope around her neck.

''Then we trained afterward, even putting our students on holds. I can't... I can only... I'll show it.'' Her purple skinned knuckles turned a shade paler as she tightly gripped her new chiming staff. ''I'll fight. I want to do something, to show... to prove myself to all of you. To put aside this damn feud, to one day show necromancy isn't evil, I'll do it.''

Something in her composure broke, perhaps it was that crippling shyness that always sapped her wonderful potential, Vilma brought her gaze aground followed by a downward crane of her neck. ''Even if something regrettable happens, even if I'm scared I... I want you all to watch me.''

She was scared no, not simply scared, absolutely terrified of getting wounded or worse. Death isn't entirely unknown in Mamonos honor duel.

''I'll get back up, no matter what.'' Vilma took in a long, long breath and let it go in a slow, smooth exhale. She had managed to contain her tears and felt proud of it, her smile was dazzling; nobody could comment against such earnest, awkward, wonderful spirit of gratitude. Yes, even her great majesty was showing ephemeral enthrallment.

It's possible there won't be a thread this coming weekend because I'll need to write the entire duel in one go, there won't be any occasion for Arawn to act so players agency is impossible here. You'll be able to see a great deal about this shortie you've given so, so much time, I'll need to make sure I do things right.

I'll be archiving the thread tomorrow, my brain is a bit too mushy after this marathon to do a proper summary. Hope you guys are liking this quest so far!
>>
>>2655706
Enjoying it immensely, my only regret is my current chaotic work schedule and thus my spotty ability to participate in the ways I'd prefer. I just hope the other anons keep picking the choices I would have picked more or less. Very lucky for me.

Also, Priscilla likes Vilma and has a son? A son! How so? I am curious as to how. There is an obvious answer or two, and yet another that's quite star shattering if it's the case. i.e. someone figured out how to get "human" males out of a mamono. Talk about squaring the circle!
>>
>>2656954
Priscilla story isn't complicated. Daiyu took her in her household in the very early days of reaffirming her authority in Throne Town (meaning 10 years ago), back then Priscilla was an impoverished single mom.

Knowing more will need you to ask the headmaid.
>>
>>2657059
I haven't asked but I must now. Is Priscilla a monster girl and if so what kind? I always assumed she was that bird maid species but if she's of the races of man then she works out pretty hard here.

I do wonder if her son has a mamono friend he's always playing with. The shipping must start early if y'know what I mean...

Don't misunderstand. Priscilla is 100% human, if she was a Mamono who somehow gave birth to a boy, she'd be a much, much bigger deal.

Her son is a teenager studying in the reclusive school of Elementalism, the place is pretty much it's inner organization so that's why you haven't heard about him.
>>
>>2657124
So the son is an elemental mage? Hope he landed on either Electricity or something similar. Because if he was so lucky he'd have potential in spades.

Mothers want boys with potential. For a great many reasons. I do hope this girl is so lucky. She is apparently Sieg's right hand, so she must have a good reason for trusting her this deeply.
>>
>>2657174
I'll also mention one final concept before I sleep. Teruko is necessary, and she knows it. Thus she says things to the likes of Daiyu that would get others in big trouble because, again, she is necessary.

Thus, she knows no fear because of her necessity and her knowledge of that fact. Fear is greater than love perhaps, but necessity trumps it several times over.
>>
>>2657218
That's an interesting view. It could also be simply a case of her being friendly with Daiyu.

So, with the thread being over, do you guys have any questions? I can answer miscellaneous stuff or a few things about the girls here and there.
>>
>>2657641
How often does Daiyu make public appearances? Does she mingle with her subjects in any way?

Also I forget which day we're currently on. Is it Day 8 or 9 in-quest?
>>
>>2658459

>How often does Daiyu make public appearances? Does she mingle with her subjects in any way?

She rarely leaves her personal domain although she is known to sneak out using disguises when she has business in Throne Town. Her daughters are more present as a general public face, Daiyu doesn't mesh too well with the populace, she's also much busier abroad handling diplomatic relationships with Monsters nations; though as you've seen, she'll come back in a flash if she so much as sniff serious troubles for her kids.

>Also I forget which day we're currently on. Is it Day 8 or 9 in-quest?
Day 8.

Quick question on summing it works by taking spirits and the like from the air and using corruption, soul, or something to give it a body but can say a treasured item or sorts be used as a catalyst to summon the same summon over again kinda like a Tsukumogami of sorts?

Yes, items can houses spirits and some even became sentient.

In fact, items can also hold souls.

Of course, these things are incredibly rare and precious and one of the few things that cannot be replicated by alchemy (golems aside, this branch of alchemy is incredibly in-depth and cannot be considered items.)
>>
>>2658894
I bet some cool things can be summoned from them maybe a macguffin adventure is needed down the line. It may even be a way to help Elina summon i'm sure she can but something like that would probably help.

Magical items differ pretty wildly in strength but generally, anything that isn't elemental can be considered incredibly powerful because objects acting on concepts (in this case, providing a temporary body for spirits) can grow out of control real fast since they never run out of power.

A summoning artifact would be a national concern.
>>
>>2658923
I was thinking using the spirit in the item and just giving it a body summoning seems like you need a bit of imagination to pull of so if the items spirit already has the idea of what it wants to be we just have to give it the rest which is why i was thinking of it being helpful for Elina she doesnt strike me as the imaginative type. A summoning artifact sounds like a demon portal in any RPG.

>>2658950
Your portal allusion is right on point, albeit on a much more manageable scale.

Only sentients spirits can actually survive the illogical and unnatural reality of ''being an object'' because sheer force of will allow them to accept their current reality instead of going berserk and essentially killing themselves.

So, objects can indeed hold spirits and souls and a summoner could create a temporary body for such an entity, but it needs to be sentient. You can see for yourself how difficult it'd be to procure something like that.
>>
>>2658964
That makes sense so only a high class summoner could pull it off but it would probably be pretty powerful I think. Also is the pocket dimensions that makes throne town completely explored because a place that has housed blank amounts of demon kings and queens seems like the kind of place with lots of hidden tombs, labs, libraries, and ect.
>>
>>2658984
Throne Town pocket dimension is fairly small, it's the capital itself that suffered upheaval after upheaval, it's the world biggest metropolis easily compared to Rome, with the islands having a few stages of constructions themselves. There's not much ''lost'' knowledge because Demons were pretty meticulous with rebuilding after a power struggle.

You won't find ruins by exploring beyond the walls, Throne Town is a gateway between the real world and another dimension that is extremely dangerous; you'll need to ask around to know more about that subject.
>>
>>2659026
Just another item to put on the todo list we really should make one just to have when things aren't going on but this still feels like the opening act of the story or at least to me it does.
>>
>>2659037
I announced the end of the intro a while back, Vilma duel is sorta coinciding with that. You guys gave her an amazing amount of attention, options to do your own things were always there.

There's plenty of things to keep you occupied.
>>
I bet the queen snuck a look at our diary while she was suspicious of us.
We need a lock dang it
>>
>>2659056
Pretty sure we were full on paranoid on that front. Even if she managed to defeat standard paranoia measures like a lock (eg. picked it closed after she picked it open AND made sure all folds in the pages looked and felt like they did before she read said pages AND put that errant speck of dust *precisely* where she found it on page X in the shape she and exact size she encountered it) we'd still have our own instincts to count on.

The DL has a scent strong enough for us to detect now that we know of it. If we didn't detect it before we almost certainly will now. Surveillance and Counter-Surveillance is a way more complex subject than most would think
>>
>>2659550
Alternatively, you might still be a little lucky on that front and nobody knows of it yet.
>>
Quick question do healing potions and the like exist in this setting or is magical healing restricted to a few mages like Teruko and holy users?
>>
>>2667102
Healing tonics exists but they cannot be compared to Holy miraculous effects. A healing potion is more reliable in the long term, it's perfect to take while healing a broken bone or to reinforce sickly bodies.
>>
>>2667107
So its less of say a instant heal like a DnD potion and more of something that speeds up natural recovery?
>>
>>2667113
Yep. It's pretty damn effective at what it does.
>>
>>2667115
How fast are we talking like say and injury that would take a month to recover without the tonic?
>>
>>2667116
It varies on the injury itself. Fractures can be healed within days but serious wounds like internal hemorrhage can demand up to 6 months to recuperate after getting past the initial crisis.

You could consider these tonics to be similar to Penicillin in term of general medical practice (With obviously much better general results).
>>
>>2667128
So what was Terukos magic that let here heal monsters if i remember right holy harms monsters doesn't it or was it just corruption that it harmed/got rid of?
>>
>>2667153
Teruko healing is something to be discovered during the quest, her situation is quite unique because of her symbiosis with the fairy.
>>
>>2667153
I skipped over the rest of your question.

Holy is harmful to monsters because it exorcise Corruption; though it can still be used to heal them, caution is needed to avoid going overboard.

An angel can drown a human in holy without any side effect.
