You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A High first year student, Midnight fan and, thanks to a crash-course in PR from her, a somewhat competent speaker.

You also are the first of your class to get any sort of punishment, that being cleaning the classroom after classes by yourself every day until the Sports Festival.

And while you still don't hold any love for your duties as the janitress of the classroom, you are still eager to get them done well and quickly… Mainly to get back to your desk at your room.

You have textbooks to review, notebooks to highlight and a training routine to keep up with! And that's just the mere minimum…

Still, just because you want to be done ASAP doesn't mean you should focus on the floor and ignore the teacher in the room. Especially when said teacher is All Might.

So you start from your own desk at the far corner this time, to give him time to deal with his book.

"Thanks for sending Midnight my way." You say, looking up from the tiles you are cleaning. "We had lunch together, talked about… things and she told me... Well, she gave me some tips to keep my boots off my mouth."

He looks almost surprised at the start, but as you continue, he briefly unglues his eyes from his desk to direct a smile and a thumbs up your way.

"You are welcome, but I hope you thanked her as well!" He tells you, carefully trying to peel the tape from the desk with his massive hands. "I asked her to do it as a favor, but I think she did it for you!"

He laughs a little before continuing, in that boastful laugh of his. You know how to do that part, the laugh, but it'd be nice to know how he manages to make it sound harmless.

When you do it, it always sounds either arrogant or condescending.

"Helping freshmen may be her favorite thing to do here in U.A., but she didn't have to talk to you during her lunch break, you know? ...Hmm. This really isn't going work to work, isn't it?" He says, standing upright and looking at his desk.

It's obvious to you that he's not managing to free his book from the tape, and that even if he could easily pull and tear the tape, the cover and back would be damaged.

"Ne- Want some help?" You ask, correcting yourself on the fly. He's All Might! He never needs help! "I'm pretty good at working with tiny stuff!"

"<Yes!> If you would pry this free without damaging it, I could leave you to your duties!" Japan's N°1 Hero replies. "Uhm… Would you say it's working?"

"What's working?" You ask, leaving your mop propped against the corner before walking towards the hero.

"Ha! I guess I should have been clearer." He says, briefly placing his hand over his forehead. "Aizawa's punishment, do you feel like it's working?"

All Might takes a step back when you approach, letting you crouch behind the desk and slowly pry the book free with your nails, not unlike a scab.

"Well, I reckon I don't wanna be saddled with doin' this again, so Ah guess it's working." You answer, sneaking a glance at his book's cover. It seems to be a quick guide about teaching, which doesn't surprise you. He was a full time hero for years, when would have he gotten a teaching degree? Being himself was all the qualification he needed to teach heroics.

Still, being only a couple feet away from him confirms it. Every breath you take reeks of blood, the same as yesterday. He doesn't smell like hospital disinfectant this time, nor of decay, which only makes it more confusing.

"Hey... Before you leave, may I ask you a couple questions?" You ask, ignoring the buzzing of your phone in your pocket, standing up and handing him the book, undamaged and free of tape.

"I've been told to tell the students to come ask at my office…" He says before, before noticing the disappointment in your face and leaning forwards, whispering. "But that's too much hassle, don't you think? What do you want to know, Young Walker?"

Looking up to him and smiling happily, you clasp your hands together and formulate your questions on your head.

"Just a couple things, like… Why do you smell like blood all the time?" You ask, tilting your head slightly to the side. "Today's even a tiny bit stronger and less hospital-like than yesterday…"

Not many are as good differentiating shades of colors as you are, so you are sure most would have missed the slight change in his face's color. Just a tiny bit paler, but enough for your peepers to catch it.

It only lasted an instant however, as he just throws his head back and laughs.

"You smelled it? Hound Dog told me it could happen, but it's hard to remember that most animal mutations have some enhanced senses." He says, then grabs his shoulder. "Well… You've seen the news, I've taken to help around Musutafu while rushing to U.A, and I've gotten some scratches here and there, but The Symbol of Peace cannot be seen bleeding!"

He then gives you another thumbs up. You were sure no normal villain even managed to touch him, but if there was anyone able to bleed that much and both ignore it and not stain his suit, it would be All Might.

"Woah…" You exclaim, starstruck. It's hard to believe that seeing him is now a normal part of your school days. "I guess that explains it… Just one more question now, seein' how we are here alone..."

Being the N°1, he also sports one of the best costumes you've seen. Simple, striking and iconic… He probably could give you a good critique on your looks and costume. Practicality is great, but like Midnight said, your current costume doesn't really look like a costume.

All you got to do is ask!

"…What do you think of me, as in my looks?" You ask, crossing your arms and smiling up at him, nervously twirling a lock of your hair.

In the time it takes you to blink, you are hit with the all too familiar shockwave of a sonic boom, shaking your uniform, throwing your hair back and making the classroom windows audibly wobble. It's actually impressive how much control he has, since nothing broke.

"I AM NOT HERE!" You hear All Might's voice coming from outside the classroom and easily a hundred feet down the hall already. "...ANYMORE!"

"...The heck?" You ask yourself rather surprised, quickly fixing your hair to be fluffy in the right way and and taking the chance to scratch behind your ears.

You hadn't been that confused for a while, but you just shrug it off after a couple seconds, going back for your mop and continuing with your cleaning, humming a song to yourself.

It's a long waste of time, but it's in not at all hard. The only place that gives you trouble is the spot right under Daisy's desk, and you are goshdarn sure that he's leaving that gum stuck to the floor just to bother you. You've never seen him actually chewing the thing! And the underside of his desk is clean!

But by the time you are done, you are one of the few souls still wandering around the school halls. Oddly enough, most waved at you, while some even cried "Walker!" as they did so.

Considering most freshmen were glaring daggers at you yesterday, that came as a surprise.
And even though Pa taught you that correlation ain't the same as causation, the fact that most of those who greeted you on the hallway smelled like ozone, grease and sulfuric acid, added to the fact that they were still in school makes you suspect that they are all from the Support Course.

On your way out, you stop on a large notice on a bulletin board. It seems that thanks to the lack of new members, which the club presidents blame on "The USJ incident and the flaring competitive spirit it caused on all freshmen", all clubs were extending the sign up deadline another two whole weeks. It made sense, if everyone was too busy with the festival, waiting till it was done woul-

Then your phone began buzzing again.

Digging it out of your pocket, you are met with a couple texts from Mei. ...Who you don't remember giving your number to.

>"Hey! Would you mind passing by The Studio on your way out? We are nearly done, but we have no idea what to do with it. I think it's scared, and Firewire is about to force an emergency shutdown." The first text reads, about an hour ago.

Tin! You missed the little guy. Although you don't remember ever seeing show any emotion other than "bored" and "amused".

>"Mei here, if you didn't reply because you didn't recognize me or anything. We could really use you here or if you are too far already, a voice clip of you saying something like "Tin, standby!" or something like that would be really useful. It's nothing we can't handle, but it would make things easier." The second text says.

"Tin…" You say out loud, pinching the bridge of your nose. "What are you doing, pal."

- Make them play the Pocky game

- Rig a game of Spin the Bottle (how would you do that?)

Of course, that's only if you wanna be tricky. My read on Ushi is that she would throw subtlety out the window and bluntly tell them she thinks they look cute together, then start bugging them to go out.

Scared?.. Yeah, that sounds like the kind of thing you'd want to check out as soon as possible.

With a few swipes you bring up the school map and reorient yourself, power walking towards the studio. You also make sure to assure Mei that you would be there in a New York minute, taking the chance to also text Momma and letting her know that you are going to be even later than usual, but not waiting for their replies.

As you get closer to the Studio you find more and more students, until you reach a group huddled around the doorway.

"'Excuse me, sorry, make way…" You say as you do your best to avoid trampling over your fellow students, until you are close enough to look over their heads thanks to your natural height.

It was a bizarre sight, seeing what looked like a half assembled armor made out of a trash compactor and covered in overlapping, oddly looking silvery white metal plates, connected like a puppet to the blue cables coming from Karoshika's left hand.

Something even weirder was how, with only one arm, the rickety armor was holding back a robot almost twice as large as itself, trying to shove it out of the way.

A very familiar robot…

With its scratched and scorched green paintjob gone, and seemingly having all its armor replaced, Tin looks just different enough to let you know that the rare materials you gave to the support kids were put to good use, as it's new plating seems to be made from the same material as the armor's, and both of them look like the cube they showed you that day.

And while it still looks fairly recognizable, just a glance at its new treads and posture tell you that they didn't cheap out on Tin.

>"Let me leave!" A synthesized voice exclaims, sounding neither female or male. "Please, just tell me where are the others! And where's the yellow road? If the GPS doesn't find it… Just let me go find them!"

Even though the voice it's flat, the shaky antennas and the tail slamming against the floor and punching dents into it shows emotion. Fear and anger, if you had to guess.

>"I'm afraid I can't let you leave, Dorothy." Karoshika spits out, clearly frustrated. "There's not even a real road for you to follow! Can't you just wait for your owner to pick you up?"

>"Mistress?.. I miss her too." Tin says as the antennas at the sides of its head drop. "Is that why you keep me here?.. I can wait for her."

As soon as it said so, it stopped pushing against the armor, "sitting" on its treads and slumping forwards.

>"Cheer up <baby>!" Mei interjects, nonchalantly walking next to Tin and patting what you think would be it's thigh. "I'm sure your… uhm… Walker will be here any minute! Just stay on the lookout!"

>"Understood. Prioritizing Sensor Suite." Tin says, starting to emit a low rumble that reminds you of Pa's air compressor back home.

An instant later, Tin's tail snaps towards you, stopping inches away from your face with its camera staring at you.

>"Matching Scent! Mistress found!" Tin says, standing up and rolling to the door. "It's great to see you again! I'm ready to serve you!"

And just like that, its antennas stood straight up and it's tail began waggling.

"Howdy Tin and thanks?..." You say, a bit confused. Wasn't it throwing a tantrum a half a minute ago. "You look a lot chipper now."

>"Chipper?... Oh. Happy!" It says, probably looking the word up. "Of course I am happy. I can serve you once more!"

You tilt your head at that, not understanding it.

>"Hey Walker! How do you like the new chassis?" Mei asks you before turning to the upperclassman in the room "So all she had to do to make it calm down was... show up?"

Said upperclassman, Karoshika, just shrugs and retracts his cables, causing the unfinished armor to slump forwards and then collapse.

>"It may have a personality, but it's still an A.I. with a coded purpose. Power Loader made "Assist and obey Walker Ushi." it's sole purpose to exist." He explains, crouching to look at the armor on the floor. "It's not even scratched! I love this stuff."

"That sounds… Messed up." You comment, wierded out.

>"Why? It's a great allo- Oh, the other thing." Karoshika says nonchalantly. "All machines serve man. Tin being a particularly charismatic toaster won't change that."

>"...At least it looks happy now." Mei tells you, looking a bit uneasy too. "The poor <baby> was so sad and scared… At least I managed to convince Firewire to not just shut it down. That can't be good for an A.I."

After a second of awkward silence and a severely out of shape boy trying to drag what must be hundreds of pounds of metal, Mei speaks again.

>"Right! Tin's ready to go home!" She says, jumping onto the robot's back, making it turn its long neck around. "It can tell you pretty much all it can do if you wanna leave now, but I'm really proud of how our <baby> turned out!"

There are a fair number of questions you want to ask, both to Mei and to Tin itself…
But there's one that left you particularly confused, that being why was Tin so upset, and why did Firewire answer with a "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" reference?

"Why was Tin so upset?" You ask the pink haired girl hugging your robot. "...And what was all that about the Wizard of Oz?"

>"Isn't that a good question..." Mei says, taking a hand off Tin's back and tapping her chin... "Eep!"

...losing her grip on Tin on the process.

But before she could finish sliding off Tin's shiny plating, its new tail quickly twists in the air, grabbing her by her abdomen and carefully setting her on its back.

>"Thanks <baby!>"The pink haired girl exclaims, hugging Tin again. She then sits on what you think would be Tin's equivalent of shoulders. "I worked on the body, so I didn't even know how Firewire programmed the simulation until it was already running, but it was some sort of sandbox world. There was a road to follow, kinda like the yellow brick road now that I think of it, and obstacles that made sure Tin was learning along with lots of really weird but kinda cute, talking... things, too."

>"I didn't get to understand See-saw." Tin laments, letting its antennas fall and clasping its hands together in a series of clicking noises. "Scissors only danced but you could make out a pattern. Incinerator was always talking though."

"Huh. What about?" You ask, pretending to understand what's going on.

>"Either eating or setting things on fire." Tin replies, bobbing its head up and down. It's probably a nod, but it looks weird with it's long neck. "Not only stuff, but it usually tried to eat and burn other talking things, as long as it was smaller than itself."

"...I think I like the Scissors more." You comment, shuddering.

>"Scissors was nice to everyone. I think it would have liked you, Mistress..." Tin replies, interlocking its fingers and slumping again.

Considering how Mei cringed at the sound, you are glad for your bad hearing this time, but you don't think you would have done so either way. It looks so sad!

"Why the long face, sugar?" You ask it, reaching forwards and trying to pat its head. It's feels weird, trying to comfort metal.

>"Hardware restrictions." It answers. It then notices your unamused expression and raised eyebrow. "...I can access a dictionary. Now I know they were nothing but software, but it seems that they served their purpose. That's all any machine or program could ask for, and I know they would agree… But even though I know their purpose was fulfilled..."

"You miss them." You finish for it. It may be a robot the size of a really tall man, but as far as life goes, it's much younger than you. "Welcome to life, sugar. Lotsa feels to feel, and lemme warn ya, not all of them are nice."

>"I don't know how to feel about that." Tin replies, nudging you with its head, as its tail swings closer and looks at you straight in the eye. "How should I feel about that, Mistress?"

"...Hell if I know." You answer, shrugging and petting its head. "But tell me if you find out."

>"Noted." Tin replies, leaning against you hand.

It's about forty different flavors of weird, from its simple reaction to knowing its friends aren't real and that comment about "purpose", to the smooth texture of its head. You can't really tell if it's metal or ceramic, since it feels like both and neither at the same time.

"Hey Mei, mind telling me what is Tin's armor made of now?" You ask her, barely having to look up to see her sitting on the leaning robot. "Actually, how did y'all soup up Tin?"

>"YES! I Thought you'd never ask!" She says, jumping and managing to stand on Tin's back before cleaning her throat.

>"Tin's new chassis is composed of a high-entropy alloy that's a bit harder than the titanium alloy used for in the JASDF's under-cockpits! Unlike that thing though, this <baby> can withstand over 350°C before starting to lose strength and over 1500°C ! And not only is it 100% pure, letting you shrink and enlarge it without tearing apart the crystal matrix, but it's low weight let me armor all every centimeter of it!" She says, waving her arms at Tin, pointing at its neck, gun and fingers.

You didn't get any of the numbers, being in cryptic celsius, but stronger than the thing protecting the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's pilots? That doesn't seem right.

"...How comes the military doesn't use it?" You ask her, trying to feel the specialness in Tin's head.

>"That's easy! It's about 20% more expensive than gold!" She answers."We only got this much to work with thanks to our generous american patron!"

She then leans forwards, close to your face, and winks at you. It's uncomfortable.
You already gave them a lot of gold, if they weren't good people this could have gone really bad! The wink makes you uncomfortable too.

"That would give even the Department of Defense some pause..." You admit.

>"After working out the new armor and replacing the old servos with Firewire's synthetic muscle, as it's just as strong while being two thirds the size, I started to mess around with the design." Mei tells you, hopping off Tin's back and patting its thigh. "I couldn't decide between legs and threads, so I gave it both! Then, after fitting the processor block in its new head I noticed the poor <baby> had no face!.. And I couldn't fit one."

Then she takes a step closer to you and takes Tin's head away from your hand, giving it a hug.

>"But mamma didn't give up! A couple of motorized antennas and a hi-fi speaker is sure to let our <baby> express itself!" She continues. "But being a better 1 Point robot isn't enough for our <baby>! That's why I built it a tail! Between the claw and the camera, that makes Tin unique!... Then I realized its only great sense was its sight, so I installed an e-nose in its abdomen. It was a boring space anyway."

>"Thanks to mamma, I have four senses now, Mistress!" Tin adds, rubbing that oddity in your face.

"...It calls you mamma?" You ask, your voice tone torn in half between amused and chastising.

This time is Mei who lifts an eyebrow, looking a you like you were eating your hat.

>"It calls you Mistress." She points out. "Do you really want to go there?"

"...So! What was that sole purpose thing?" You ask, quickly shifting the conversation away from that. You don't actually know why it calls you that, but you don't want to find out in public. "Really though, isn't it supposed to have free will?"

Sadly, Mei doesn't get to answer this one, giving her the chance to keep looking smug.

>"No, Mistress. I was built to fight until I was destroyed. I wouldn't have complained if you crushed me too, but you brought me with you." Tin answers. "Lamps illuminate, toasters toast, Tin serves Walker Ushi. If any of those does not, it's broken."

>"...Aw." The pink girl says, hugging the bot against her chest even harder. Were it a human, Tin wouldn't be able to breathe. "That's the first time I've heard an A.I.'s thoughts on it, but it's well known that A.I.s develop around their objectives, whatever those may be."

"That's so… Complicated." You say, sighing. Then you take out your backpack and start looking for something inside as you talk to Tin. "I still remember when you used to flick cards into my hat, you know."

>"And I remember every moment we spent together, Mistress." Tin replies, kneeling on its threads and pulling its head away from Mei, nudging you again.

>"Yeah, about that…" Mei says, scratching the back of her neck. "It's not kidding, you know? Just saying."

"Well then pal, are you feeling fine?" You ask, pull out your old 52 card deck from your backpack. You learned the hard way to avoid keeping valuable things shrunken in your pockets. "Ready to go home?"

>"I'm… sad. I miss the simulation." Tin answers, taking the deck from you and showing off its new digits, shuffling the deck with one hand. "But I'm also happy to be back by your side, Mistress. Let's go home."

It hands you back the deck and places its head under your hand, letting you shrink it back to its Tiny size.

"Bye, y'all!" You say as you exit the studio, getting an energetic wave from the pink haired girl and what could easily have been an arm cramp from the lanky upperclassman.
>>
With Tin safely in your jacket pocket, you begin the way back to Momma's house, with Tin telling you all about the Scissors, the Incinerator and what little it knew of the See-saw horse, along with what it felt being there. Even though its androgynous voice only shifts in volume, you can still tell it liked it there.

You can only hope he'll like living with you more.

By the time you get to Momma's house, the sun had been below the horizon for nearly an hour, getting smothered by your mom.

You only wish you could have taken a picture of her face when she greeted Tin and it thanked her. Her face alone made the thirty minutes talk you had to endure about the risk of having wireless cameras on your room worth it.

In what felt like no time, after rushing to do all the studying and training you needed to do, you dropped in bed like a bag of bricks.

After that, there were only five days before the great day, the start of the Sports Festival.

Which was just enough time, really! You were sure everyone was already giving their all to be ready, but you could feel the energy on those last days, as everyone's plans to excel were coming to an end!

For your part, you made sure to review everything you learnt with Spring Tiger, spending half the session getting your face shoved into the canvas and the other half talking about the event, sitting on the steps of the ring.

"So, are you going to watch the Festival on T.V.?" You asked your teacher as you tried to press a cold compress to your then new set of bruises, looking around for your misplaced water bottle. "I know it's a big deal around here."

>"Sorry kitty, I'll be busy. You aren't the only student of this dojo." The masked woman replied before giving you a hard pat on the back. "But don't think that's permission to mess up on stage! I'm sure I'll have the DVR running by monday, so I'll review it before your next session."

"Review it?" You asked again, a bit confused. But the confusion quickly got pushed away, as you spotted the shrunken form of Tiny Tin coming from the changing room, rolling as fast as it could towards you with your water bottler on its back. "Hey! Thanks pardner!"

>"I apologize for leaving your possessions unguarded, Mistress." Tin said as it handed you your water bottle, needing both arms and its tail to do so. "Is there anything else I can do to help, or should I return to the locker?"

And much like everyone at the table at lunch earlier that day, Spring Tiger silently stared at Tin for several seconds. Then she started laughing.

>"...Ain't that an edgy cororobo!" She commented, still giggling. "Anyway, yeah. Review it."

>"Because each and every single preventable fuck up I see you make on national T.V, I'll jot down to reinforce on later sessions." She tells you with a toothy grin, throwing an arm around your neck and squeezing just enough to let you feel pressure upon your windpipe. "You know what I'm talking about Ushi, the kind of reinforcement that'll have you going home in a ground beef tray."

Other than when she played back the tiger roar, that moment was the most tiger-like you had seen her act. Not enough to actually scare you, but it did give you goosebumps. It also got Tin to start spinning its guns, but you motioned with your hand for it to calm down.

You knew it was an exaggeration meant to motivate you, even if it rubbed you the wrong way.

Even after Spring Tiger's teachings, you still gave your all in your training routine you made for yourself, focusing on your arm strength and dexterity. And looking at yourself in the mirror, it looks like it paid off.

You only gave it a rest when the last weekend came, to be sure you weren't going to show up at the festival aching before it started. Instead, you spent those last two days helping Momma with her small gardens.

Being a cheap house in Japan, there's no lawn or backyard at all, but she had made do with the parkway strips.

It would be hard for anyone else to notice, but you would gladly tell your friends how the small patch of grass and flowers gave a brief respite to the nose from the city stench…

And were pretty tasty too, but you wouldn't tell them that. Except to Pony, maybe.

But that was all in the past, going back to the present, you look around the 1-A Waiting Room, as everyone finishes their own last minute preparations.

Most were just stretching or chatting away the last minutes as even Daisy just sat calmly next to Denki, with Momo being the notable exception amongst your classmates, choosing to eat a sandwich. You were finishing the dango Momma bought for you on the way in. The salty and sweet sauce was just perfect, in that trashy junkfood way!

>"Damn! I really wanted to show off my costume!" Mina comments, slumping over the table.

"Sorry sugar, it just wouldn't be fair." You reply, covering your mouth with your hand. "Quirks, heroics training and support gear?.. There wouldn't be much of a point in letting the other courses try… Also, Tin, how long 'till our go time?"

>"Less than two minutes." Tin replies, handing you a napkin. "I'll notify you when it's time."

>"You know? That's probably why." Mina points out, pointing at Tin. "If you could use it… I don't really know what it can do, but still. Giant robot."

"I know, it's coo- Uh?" You brag before noticing Shoto walking towards Deku.

With his hand in his pocket, he does look like he's beyond caring about anything… He's cool like that.

>"Midoriya." He calls out the poor boy, who was trying to calm his breathing.

>"Uh? What is it Todoroki?.." Deku asks, visibly confused.

Something about this makes you uncomfortable…

>"Objectively, I am stronger than you." Shoto continues, with his monotone voice making it sound menacing. "And I think I am above you in practical strength as well."
>>
>And much like everyone at the table at lunch earlier that day

Man i wanted to see that.
>>
...Is this because of his blood ties to All Might?

>"...Well, yeah, but…" Deku mumbles out. It's kind of sad how he doesn't defend himself.

>"You have All Might's eyes on you. I will not ask about that, just keep in mind..." Shoto says, frowning slightly. "That I will beat you."

And with that he starts walking away

>"A declaration of war? Now?" Mina asks, curiously looking at the boys.

>"A minute left!" Tin lets you know.
.
But before you could stand up and go ask him what the hell what that, Deku turns to face him. Sort of.

>"I don't know why are you telling me all this… And you are stronger, with very few that can match you." He says, looking down at his clenched fists.

>"Hey man, you don't have to be so hard on yourself-" Kirishima says walking between them, trying to smooth things over.

>"BUT! Everyone is doing their best. Everyone here, and class B, and the kids from the support and Gen. Ed. courses too!" He says, finally looking up.

Looking at him like that, determined… Even with a quirk as self-destructive as his, it's obvious he belongs in a hero course.

>"I can't do any less." Deku continues. "I, too, will aim for the top, will all my might!"

And this time is Deku who turns around and walks away, leaving Shoto looking shocked (it's little, but you can tell!), along with most of the class. Except Daisy, who looks… a bit angrier than usual, you think. It's hard to tell when even his resting face is angry.

It’s our job as VP to look after the other students. We should at least make an effort to stem his obvious self-destructive tendencies / martyr complex. Plus, Ushi has experience with battle scars. We don’t want him to suffer arms-fall-off disease.

Speaking of the events in Sports Festival, the foot race should be relatively easy to earn a high place in, particularly if Ushi can grow large enough to just jump over obstacles. The Cavalry Battle... that depends if Ushi takes a spot conducive to using her power to keep the headband out of everyone's reach.

It'll be the one-on-one matches that'll require more in-depth strategy.
>>
>>2667511
The foot race hardest part was when all the students tried to walk trough the same entrance and shotk freezed anyone near it. Maybe if we shrink and hitch a ride with someone?

The cavalary race we just need to pass a tape around the people forming the horse and we can make every member of it shrink or get huge.

The one versus one battle will be limited to closing the distances if Ushi.manages to grab anyone the fight is over. Heck i think she could even shrink the arena and make someone unaware to be put out because the arena shrinked under the competitor.
>>
>>2667553
Ok, thinking about it, here's some thoughts on each event.

Foot Race - Or we can just grow to max size and break out of the ice the hard way. Then maintain it so our huge strides will eat up the distance, only returning to normal size once we re-enter the stadium.

Cavalry Battle - Here's where the shrinking aspect of our Quirk could come in handy. Have the rider be someone with excellent situational awareness, then shrink the group to an inch tall whenever someone tries to grab the team's headbands. The enemy riders won't be able to reach our headbands, but for an entirely different reason than growing the team.

Single Matches - Oh, yeah. Seconding this.
>>
>>2667612
I hope Ushi had the foresight to bring lots of rapidly digestible calories.
Because not only does using our Quirk burn 'em, doing stuff while large does too.
So we should, after each event, get some calories, then shrink down tiny to conserve them during downtime.
>>
>>2667949
Fortunantly mom is here and i believe they serve junk food at the fesrival so...i don't think we need to worry about that. But then again that's the matter of us keeping a eye to not do to much stuff we don't need to go full size, lime we did at the end of the invasion we can just use a size that won't consu.e us to much (having Ushi being the same weight/size then mom would be a pretty descent advantage already.)
>>
>>2667969
>we don't need to go full size, lime we did at the end of the invasion we can just use a size that won't consu.e us to much
True. I'm mostly worried about the Cavalry Battle. Most plans for that involve a lot of Quirk use, and I don't want us to go into the 1-on-1s drained.
>>
>>2667975
There is a break between the one-v-one. The only events that are followed by each other are the race and then the cavalary battle. So no need to worry we will get our well deserved rest.
>>
>>2667995
That's my point. During that down time, we need to get some calories, then rest up.
>>
>>2668005
Right. Get through the first two events, then grab a big lunch.
>>
>>2668005
Oh we will definetly get some well deserved lunch! Also need to hear how proud Momma is of her little girl

While you have a pretty good idea of why Shoto challenged Deku, you are still in the dark about the sudden change of plan. Weren't you supposed to confront him about it? Is that still going to take place? You just don't know.

But as you watch both boys do their own dramatic exits, there's a single question that demands an answer above all others…

"Fated battle between men?" You whisper to Mina as both of you stand up, ready to walk into the stadium.

>"Oh, definitely! I'll be so bummed if fate takes this away from them!" Mina loudly whispers back, letting you know that she's as good at being quiet as you are listening. "You can't throw the gauntlet like that and not have an epic showdown!"

"I've how much ice Shoto can throw around." You say, recalling both times you fought. He managed to partially freeze you in an instant, even as a moving giantess. "And I'm sure he can make even more. Not sure you can smash through it all..."

>"And I saw Midoriya smash a 0 Points robot into scrap at the entrance exam! It'll be great!" Mina replies, not even trying to whisper this time.

>"It's go time, Mistress! GO TIME!" Tin suddenly announces, rolling in circles in the middle of the table with its arms and tail raised above its head. "I'll stay tuned to the T.V. feed, awaiting your return! Everybody else get moving too! Present Mic is introducing you!"

"Thanks sugar!" You say to the tiny robot as you stretch your legs and take point, having only Deku and Shoto walk in front of you.

The way into the center of the stadium is only a few seconds of walking in the dark, but those precious last silent seconds make you feel like someone put a concrete hat between your horns and dumped you in the pond.

The whole country will see you here, and it won't only be millions of civilians judging your performance, but hundreds of professional heroes will judge your worth by based on what can you do in the playing field...

It's almost enough to give you pause. Almost.

Instead, you carry on and endure the pressure, walking towards the blinding sunlight at the end of the tunnel as your eyes slowly adapt, with the shapes and colors finally coming into focus as you fully emerge out of the tunnel.

And if the anticipation in the tunnel felt like drowning, walking into the warm sunlight and the cheering of the crowd feels… Exciting.

With your fellow freshmen all emerging from their own classes' entrances and the crowd cheering all around, you can only feel excited.

There's no reason to be so haughty and arrogant to think you have this in the bag already, but you aren't going to lower your chin and humiliate yourself.

Everyone is here to show the best they can do, and that includes you.

There's nothing left to do but show that your best is the best.

>"THE DEPARTMENT OF HEROICS FRESHMAN CLASS!!" You hear Present Mic's voice through the speaker system.

>"Wha? I…" Deku whimpers, shaking like a leaf. "It never looked this full on T.V!"

You chose to ignore Mic's narrating of the other classes, opting instead to go reassure your classmate. You are the VP, after all."

"Settle down sugar! What happened to that "all my might" spiel?" You ask him, throwing your arm around his neck and grabbing his shoulder, giving him a short comforting squeeze before pulling back. "Ain't you a hero otaku? You know heroes are always being watched!"

>"Walker is right." Iida says, walking close and looking up to the crowd. "U.A. is truly amazing, everything is part of our training plan. Now they are testing how if we can do our best under pressure."

After that comment, trying to keep talking is pointless, as the muttering and grumbling of the other classes drowns out every oth-

Uh... Your hearing isn't the best, but you are pretty sure that not even all the other classes together could drown out Present Mic. That would mean that he finished the introduction of the other seven classes in less time than he took to introduce Class 1-A.

...That would explain the grumbling.

And then what may be the most distinct sound in the world is heard, as the crack of a well swung flogger draws everyone's attention to the center stage.

>"Now now, play fair everyone!" Midnight says, posing in her costume behind a standing microphone. "Before we begin, let's hear the Freshman Rep., Bakugo Katsuki of 1-A. Come here!"

>"What!? How come our representative is Kacchan!?" Deku asks, and you can't help but agree. Handing that guy a mic is up there in your list of terrible ideas, just below trying locoweed.

"Good dang question! I sure as hell didn't vote for him!" You say, stomping the ground.

>"It sure wasn't for his charming personality." Sero quips, shrugging. "Really though, it must be because he placed first on the entrance exam."

>"Yeah, the heroics entrance exam." Says… Uhm…

Nope, you have never seen that girl. Or if you did, you never bothered to remember her, unlike Sleepyface McCrazy hair besides her. Must be a Gen Ed. kid too.

While the rest of the classes start muttering again after Midnight stopped talking, all of Class 1-A gathered around you and Momo, waiting for the inevitable fallout of whatever shitbomb Daisy spouts.

>"Teacher." Daisy starts, sounding as full of contempt as he looked. With his hands in his pockets. "I'm gonna place first."

And with that, every single student has one of two reactions. All of class 1-A brought a hand to their faces at varying velocities, while everyone else flew in an outrage.

>"DON'T PUSH YOUR LUCK CLASS-A!!!" A student in the crowd yells.

"H-hey! Don't group us all with him!" You say, raising your hands in an attempt to appease the other students.

>"DON'T DEFEND THE SLIMEFUCKER!" Another voice yells at you, but leaving you more confused that intimidated.
>>
>"And you'll all make fantastic stepping stones." Daisy finishes, making a throat slitting motion with his thumb before nonchalantly walking offstage and regrouping with the class.

>"Alright, with that out of the way we can move onto our first event!" Midnight announces, taking back her stage.

>"Wow, I guess U.A. doesn't like idle pauses."Ochaco says from somewhere behind you, just as the stadium jumbotron lighted up.

>"These are the "Preliminaries", where most of you will end up bawling your eyes out!" Midnight says with an edge of sadism that you can't help but admire. "Let's see what your first grinder is…"

As Midnight pauses, pointing her flogger at the screen, everyone stares at it with bated breath, waiting for the machine to finally reveal the event… Until it reveals it to be an OBSTACLE RACE.

>"A race between all the elven classes!" Midnight says as a really tall gate unlocks on the other side of the stadium. "It's just a 4 kilometers or so sprint around the stadium!"

Then three red lights come to life over the gate.

>"And even though you are freshmen, you probably have heard us sing about our freedom in campus…" She says, covering her mouth and laughing. "Well, that's what this is all about! You are free to do anything as long as you stay within the course!"

It looks like you aren't limited to just running and using your quirk…

>"But that's enough chatter, so let's get checking…" Midnight says, cracking her flogger towards the gate. "On your marks..."

Then one of the lights turns off and everyone rushes to the gate to try and get a good start, including you.

>"Ready...." She says as the second light dies, waiting a beat before continuing. "STAAAAART!!!"

And with that, the crowd in goes wild, with almost as much energy as each of the 220 of you shooting off through-

Nope.

"IAre we stuck!?" You yell, feeling yourself being squeezed from every direction in the struggling human tide.

You also took the chance to whittle the competition a bit, stomping hard on the foot of someone who thought you wouldn't notice someone feeling you up in the commotion.
No way that guy's running anywhere but to Recovery Girl's.

Still, you are trapped in what feels like a can of student spam and must get out quickly, before anyone else builds up a lead.

It won't be too-

And then a familiar coldsnap going up the legs of your pants makes every hair in your body stands on end.

Having been frozen far too many times already, you recognize what's going on the instant you feel the cold air against your skin, jumping up and grabbing the shoulder of some poor schmuck to keep your feet off the ground as the cold wave encases almost everyone's legs up to the calves.

Seeing Shoto make his move and starting to gain a lead, you get your ass in gear and move to reach the end of the gate.
>>
"Sorry fellas, gotta look out for number one!" You apologize to the guy you used as a prop, Judging by the amount of junk on him, a support kid, and the people whose feet you step on to avoid slipping.

>"I can't move!" Some slowpokes shout.

>"It's not fair, you bastard!" Someone else whines.

But you aren't the only one still up and moving, as a fair number of your classmates are also clearing the block of stuck students, with Daisy, Momo, Iida and Kirishima starting to get really close to you.

Whatever you are going to do, you must do quickly

Look, I get that shrinking is a cute trick here, but there's no need for it. 50ft tall running strides are more than enough speed, plus we don't have to worry about whoever we stick onto getting taken out.

You don't use a screwdriver to pound a nail. Sometimes it's just time for a hammer. This is one of those times IMO.
>>
>>2669086
Enlarging ourselves to full size is a taxing thing during an already taxing activity. This is the first event, don't blow your load now.
>>
>>2669108
We're good at it and we've recently improved Wind. While this is a valid point, I think we'll have more than enough energy to continue after this.
>>
>>2669119
But why risk it when we don't have to commit to the shrink strategy and can switch to any of the other strategies should the shrink one go bad with next to no downside?
>>
>>2669086
Nah you are wrong. We will get to tired and using our quirk like that will tire us. While cloaging the entrance using someone will drain the other person energy intead of ours since they aren't used to walk around in giant size.
>>

Uh, hey guys? Growing Mineta is a real reckless idea.

Remember a while back Ushi and Mineta were talking about what would happen if a grape hit someone in the face? Their nose and mouth could get blocked, preventing them from breathing.

The advantage it would provide in the game to grow Mineta wouldn’t outweigh the danger it would present to the other students.
>>
>>2670009
That's a hell of a thing to think of in the moment, but in order for someone to ram face first into a grape they'd have to vault Mineta to his head, somehow then biff hard enough to land face first, and hit it specifically mouth first. Taking into account that anyone still running evaded Shoto's ice, the chances of that happening are slim to none and not worth considering.
>>
>>2670036
i'm more worried about a giant jumping Mineta, then anyine getting stuck on Mineta's sticky balls

Mineta
He has short legs even when big, and would also be unable to do his chosen tactic of sticking to someone and getting carried. That's our tactic
>>
Now that i think about it Uraraka can just use her gravity thing and remove Mineta out of her way. Once more we indirectly manage to bully her.
>>
>>2670139
add 3 tons. Now he's too big for her

You may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but you are far from being the dullest, being able to come up with the best outline of a plan you could in what's literally a single second of looking over your shoulder.

With the most tenacious students either breaking free of the ice or never having been caught at all, mostly your classmates, threatening to eliminate your small lead, you prepare to put it in motion as soon as soon as the chance presents itself.

>"YOU THINK I'LL LET YOU GET AWAY, TWO-FACE!? THAT THAT'D WOULD STOP EVERYONE!?" Daisy yells as he takes to the air, rocketeering out of the gate and over your head.

...Damn.

>"No! It was obvious some of you would dodge it!" Shoto explains as he looks over his shoulder without even slowing down.

It would take perfect timing and coordination to pull out the stunt you have in mind, but you are nothing if not confident!

While Iida is clearly one of the fastest students of the eleven classes, he's still bogged down by the sheer density of people stuck on his path.

That's not a problem for someone as small as Mineta though, who rushes through every opening to great effect, managing to not only match the bespectacled boy, but to gain a few feet on him.

...Which is perfect for you, giving you the ideal targets.

So as soon as the pervert gets close to you, you quickly crouch and grab his hand, taking great care to not touch his head as you lift him off the ground.

>"I A-!? Walker!?" He asks in clear confusion… Yet he doesn't look at your eyes, but at your chest. You are not surprised."What's go-?"

>"I'll fix it later, 'kay! Don't move too much if you don't wanna pass out!" You interrupt him, spinning on your heel and swinging him back towards the gate.

But you don't let go until Iida is at arm's reach. Then you send all the mass you can into the purple midget and immediately letting go of him, leaving your dazed and now enormous classmate to faceplant in front of the gate, blocking most of the way with his six feet wide head. A 2000 pounds midget should at least give pause to everyone.

And just as you finish that spin, you kick off the ground, jumping at Iida's back as he demonstrates the reason why you picked him, his prodigious speed.

...And that proves to be a bit of an issue, as your not-so-good gymnastic abilities barely cut it, leaving you latching on for dear life with both hands.

>"Walker!? W-What are you doing!?" Iida asks as he runs, obviously feeling you tightly pressed against his back.

"Catching a ride!" You answer with as much bravado as you can, trying to make it look like that was the plan. "It's allowed by the rules, Midnight said so!"

Holding on turns out to be harder than expected, as he seems to only gain more speed as you adjust your grip.

...Well, stealth may have gone to hell, but-

>"AND CLASS A STARTS WITH A BANG! BUT NO ONE WOULD EXPECT ANY LESS FROM TODOROKI, WOULD YA!?" Present Mic comments. "BUT I DIDN'T SEE THAT SECOND ONE COMING! WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!?"

>"That'd be Walker." The tired voice of your homeroom teacher answers through the same audio system.

>"OH YEAH! THE COWGIRL FROM OVERSEAS!" Mic continues. "THE FILES DON'T MAKE JUSTICE TO HER WORDY QUIRK, BUT BIGGER IT IS! NOW, CAN YOU TELL US WHY SHE'S ON IIDA'S BACK!?"

>"She's both sharper and more flexible than you'd expect." Mr. Aizawa answers once more. "Just keep an eye on her."

...Okay! Stealth definitely went to hell, but you can still make do!

>"No matter how light you are, you are going to slow me down!" Iida tells you, looking over his shoulder for a fraction of a second and doing a pathetic job of shaking you off.

But you must be adding far more drag than you expected, since his face is red before the first minute. And to think that you are hugging his back as tight as you can without interfering too much with his breathing.

"YEEHAW!!" You shout, taking off your hat and briefly waving it in the air for the public before addressing Iida. "Don't slow down sugar, you won't even know I'm here!"

Having said that, you put your hat back on and tap yourself, shrinking yourself down to six inches tall, enough to swing into the collar of Iida's gym uniform.

And when Iida's hand tries to pick you up, you pull on his ear, forcing him to give it up with a whimper. It feels pretty good~

>"YO, <FRIEND>, YOUR STUDENTS DON'T MAKE IT EASY TO KEEP AN EYE ON THEM, YOU KNOW!" Mic commentates with clear amusement. "BUT IT LOOKS LIKE NOT EVEN CLASS A CAN STOP CLASS A! POOR MINETA WON'T HOLD THEM BACK FOR LONG, IT SEEMS!"

You don't even need to look to know he's right, since it's a unique stench, but you do anyway.

And just as your nose told you, the first to overcome your living barricade is none other than Mina, as she emerges out of a melted hole through Mineta's grapes, still on his head.

>"Good one, but you know you can't take us all out!" She yells as she begins sliding on the floor, leaving a trail of acid on her wake.

It's true, Momo and Fumikage come a couple of seconds late, vaulting over Mineta's legs in their own ways, as others one by one push their way through the disgusting hole Mina left.

It won't stop your classmates, true. But it left them all far behind!

Then you notice Iida slowing down slightly, which makes you turn around to look back to the road ahead.

And with Shoto being surrounded by robots, you understand why.

>"I THINK IT LOSES SOME OF THE IMPACT WHEN SO FEW GET TO SEE THEM APPEAR, BUT THAT ALSO MEAN THAT THERE'S MORE ROBOTS TO BEAT THE TAR OUT OF EACH STUDENT, SO IT' STILL <OKAY>!" Present Mic comments as an horde of robots makes itself seen.
>>
Not only the few 1 Points that are trying to surround Shoto, but dozens of 1, 2 and 3 Points robots, still with their numbers painted on. And behind all those, three giant 0 Points.

>"MULTIPLE TARGETS DETECTED!" You hear the closest robot say.

>"THE FIRST OBSTACLE THAT'S NOT BY THE STUDENTS! <CRAP YOUR HANDS> FOR THE ROBO INFERNO!" Present Mic says, giving a name to the marauding metallic menace.

With a shiver running down your spine, you hope there are no lasers this time.

No. Not three.

As Iida gets closer to the three gigantic 0 Points robot's, you manage to catch a glimpse of what's behind them…

Even more 0 Points robots. At least nine more of them, forming a semicircle behind the front three.

It brings you back to the entrance exam, when you tried to take on one of the things.

It took everything you had to beat that one, and even if you finally managed to, it ended with you on your first visit to Recovery Girl's office…

But all you could do and did back then was flail at it, being the first thing you couldn't defeat with your sheer size. If you had to do it now however…

No. Even if you know that you could trash one in a matter of seconds now, maybe even use one to wreck another, you don't have any reason to!

Instead, you make yourself cozy next to Iida's neck, shuffling to get your lower half comfortable inside his jacket. You end up sitting on his shoulder, with only your head and shoulders poking out of his collar.

"Hey, sugar!" You yell right at his ear, pulling a bit at his earlobe to make sure he's listening. "I know I'm kinda forcing myself on you, but Ah ain't no parasite! Gimme a holler and I'll make you huge!"

As you speak, he flinches and deviates to the side of the track, seemingly looking for a way to go around the cluster of 0 Points robots and take his chances with the 1 Points.

>"No offence, but if you are offering me the same deal you did to Mineta, I'll have to decline!" He replies, making you roll your eyes.

"Ain't the same, pal! I meant to throw him away, I'm sticking with you!" You tell him, giving him a pat on the neck. "Keep in mind though, it'll be a few minutes at most! Else you'll burn out!"

>"If that's so, then let's save it for something that actually merits it!" He replies, making you wonder what could be more deserving than the giant robots.

"What are you expecting, Godzilla!?" You ask him back, a little bit frustrated by his… carefulness.

>"Present Mic said that this was the first obstacle, and we've fought these things before!" Iida answers, asking his own question in return. "I don't know what comes after this, but I expect to be surprised by U.A."

"That… That make sen-" You admit, holding on to his jacket collar and looking at the competition, pointing at something outrageous. "HOW COMES HE GETS TO FLY TOO!?"

Thankfully, Iida decides to look at what you saw instead of swatting you away from his ear.
Considering how he lowers his head and accelerates, you are sure he also saw Daisy merrily flying over the damned machines, taking the lead.

>"AAAND CLASS A'S BAKUGO JUST DECIDED THE GROUND WASN'T WORTH HIS TIME AND TOOK TO THE SKIES! WHOEVER DESIGNED THE COURSE ISN'T GOING TO BE HAPPY!" Present Mic comments.

>"Can I leave now?" Aizawa asks, sounding like he was already halfway to the exit.

But you notice that the runner up, Shoto, suddenly wants to take a pause, stopping in the middle of the gathering robots.

You have to keep yourself from flinching as you see the first three 0 Points robots raise their fists, ready to flatten Shoto. But the way he's just standing there…

Few people know Shoto Todoroki as well as you do, and that's a fact you'd proudly tell anyone who cared. It also means that you can take a look at the way his right foot is perpendicular to his left, and the way he holds his right hand half-closed behind his back and take a pretty good guess at what's about to happen.

"Hey sugar, how good are you at sliding!?" You ask your ride, then correct yourself. "Think you could slide in a straight line, like, right now!?"

>"Sure! This kind of momentum actually makes it hard to turn!" He answers.

"Then go straight at the robots!" You tell him, slapping the shoulder you are sitting on.

>"Alright!" Iida replies, correcting your course. Now instead of taking a bit longer to avoid the giant robots, you are purposefully going to where their fists are going to crash.

"Trust me on- Wait, what? Just like that?" You ask, actually perplexed.

>"Even if I didn't trust you, you wouldn't aim for a grinder without a plan!" Iida clarifies, closing in to Shoto…

Then it happens.

Shoto slides his foot along the ground at the same time as he raises his hand, causing literal wave of ice to form, encasing the robots in mid swing, leaving a clear but frozen path between them and covering the ground around Shoto. Just the kind of plan you expected of him!

Then Iida steps on the ice, causing him to flail his arms to keep his balance, and almost causing you to slip into his jacket. But as you climb back to your perch, you notice that you got turned around, letting you see the small flames coming out of Iida's exhausts…

And Shoto's shock as manage to get past him….

And then the hundreds of tons of collapsed, shattered robots behind you all.

>"CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF IT'S BLOCKADE DAY!? BECAUSE TODOROKI JUST PUT ANOTHER BARRICADE IN THE WAY! CLASS A DOESN'T MESS AROUND!" Present Mic says. "ACTUALLY, IT'S STARTING TO FEEL A BIT UNFAIR! LET'S SEE IF THEY CAN JUST RUSH THROUGH THE NEXT OBSTACLE! THE FAAAAALL! THIS ONE IS SIMPLE! FALL AND YOU ARE OUT! <GOOD LUCK!>"

>"Don't you need to breathe?" Aizawa comment on Mic's comment.

>"THANKS MAN!" The presenter says, following it up with a loud gasp.

Looking behind Iida, you have to assume that this so called "Fall" is the reason he's slowing down and letting Shoto pass him.

"Howdy!" You say as Shoto gets ahead of you once more, waving at him. Then you turn around and start kicking Iida's collarbone. "C'MON! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"

>"Building up a lead." He explains without shouting. "If I let them keep scrambling for the first place, I can make sure the fourth… the fifth runner up is far behind. Then I'll go for the lead."

"Uh. You have it all planned out." You reply, trying to not sound too surprised.

>"I know my brother is watching. I have to show him something to be proud about." He tells you, and you nod. That's as noble a motive as they come. "I'm fairly sure of what I'm doing."

Looking up to the people behind you, you… aren't that surprised to see Fumikage and Dark Shadow vault over the robots with little trouble, with Dark Shadow even taking the chance to tear off the head of a 1 Point robot along the way. That's a scary quirk.

What does surprise you however, is a sound similar to that of a gun going off, followed by the head of one of the back-up 0 Points robots caving in and collapsing backwards, letting you see the responsible.

With her jacket open, there's no doubt as to why Momo has a damn cannon next to her, nor what blew that robot's head into pieces. You wonder if that's her last resort, but she doesn't look spent.

But it doesn't look like opening that path helped her all that much, with two of the more laid back dudes you know of climbing head to head onto the carcass, their hands and feet just punching handholds on the metal armor and then jumping off from the top.

Seeing Tetsu and Kirishima side to side it's rather amazing though. You had never seen two quirks that similar to each other! Makes you pretty glad there's none like yours.

And they aren't the only ones taking advantage of Momo's handiwork, as Sero and Ibara sling over the downed robot, leaving your friend behind, as does Mina… doing…

You have yet another doubt thrust upon you then. Is acidskating a verb? Because that's what Mina seems to be doing, to great effect.

Behind Momo, your tiny eyes can't recognize anyone else. But not seeing Mineta at all is, by itself, pretty telling. You hope he won't be too mad.

With all that's there's to be seen behind you seen, you turn to see what lies in front of you…

"Yeah. That's a fall alright." You say, looking at the rope-connected pillars and the abyss below, the douchebag hopping from one pillar to the next and Shoto on his tail, sliding on frozen-solid ropes without slowing down.

[Gate(Mineta)]->[(Everyone else.)]->[ROBO INFERNO!(Kirishima, Tetsutetsu, Ibara, Sero, Mina,Momo.)]->[THE FALL!(Daisy, Shoto, Iida, Ushi, Fumikage.)]->[???]->[???][Gate/Finish Line]

This, give Iida all the options but let him choose what to do.

Also, do we want to win this? Getting the 1'000'000 bounty seems more bad than good so assuming we reach the end of this with Iida and are in the lead perhaps we should let him take first place while we take a respectable second place.
>>
>>2676971
Of course we want to win. How else we are going to show that Ushi is more than her looks and inspire all the other mutants like her without trying to aim for the top?
>>
>>2676971
Sounds like quitter talk to me why even try to be a hero if you aren't trying to be #1?
>>
Besides we don't know about the 1,000,000,000 point bandage so not trying to win would be meta gaming.
>>
>>2676971
Of course we want to win, we don't know about the bounty stuff. Clearly winning is a good thing anon
>>
>>2676995
That's the spirit, plus ultra!
>>
>>2676990

The top is winning in the 1V1's, if we win here it'll make it harder to get through the cavalry battle and reach the 1v1's. We could end up winning this battle but loosing the war. Besides, being second place from working alongside the winner is nothing to balk at.
>>
>>2677024
We don't know about that in character. Besides there is still a lot of dice to roll we can easily fall in the rope or get behind because of another person doing something else. We should aim high to hit low.
>>
>>2677024
You will never get ahead in life with that attitude we are here to WIN not to win some and lose some If we don't measure up and can't win them all so be it, but we have to try our hardest to be the best hero we can be! That is the only true way to become #1.
>>
>>2677024
We DON'T KNOW about the 1,000,000 point headband, you metagaming fuck.
Nobody knew until it was sprung on them. The prelims of the festival work differently every year.
>>
Besides think like this. Bakugou is leading the race. Do you want to risk Bakugou getting the first place? Because since we are using the dice there is a small chance that he can make to first place this time.
>>
>>2677045
While I do agree about aiming for the top, the smart thing here is playing for the long game and let Iida do his thing for now and save ourselves for the next 2 rounds. Taking damage to Guts or Legs could be decisive in the outcome of the tournament. But to be honest, I'm still going to vote to steal the first place if we can.
>>
>>2677038

Fair enough, although since we've been riding Iida we can probably excuse letting him take first place for a more IC reason.

>>2677045

Anime speaches mean little to a dice roll.
>>
>>2677080
I'm sorry when did this become a metagame quest? Because all that I've been saying is just things that are in character for Ushi. Ushi doesn't care/know about dice so we shouldn't let the thought of dice fucking us up influence us plain and simple same goes with the points later on.

Only enlarge him if he asks for it. If he's not braced, it could be a huge shock, and he knows better than we do what he's capable of.

I really doubt that the ropes can hold a large Iida. Just let him do his trick our time to shine will be once we get to the minefields.
>>

"He's getting pretty far ahead…" You comment, looking at Shoto sliding from rope to pillar to rope again, managing to overcome Daisy.

And it's not that Daisy isn't trying, but it seems like he can't just keep flying, needing to land every few seconds.

Shoto meanwhile, just keeps sliding forwards, accumulating more and more speed as he goes. And unlike Daisy's sort-of-flying, you have no qualms in admiring Shoto's technique, gracefully twisting and turning his way to the other side of the chasm, leaving a trail of frozen rope and slippery platforms.

>"That's the idea." Iida assures you, suddenly lunging forwards and accelerating.

A quick glance over your shoulders allows you to see the flames coming from his exhausts once more, and looking forwards again lets you see the fall you are heading straight up for…

But you just fix your hat and grab tighter to his jacket collar.

"I sure hope this works." You say, trying to keep the fact that your own safety is in someone's hands from wracking your nerves.

>"It has to!" Iida replies, stepping on the first of Shoto's ropes, extending his arms and stopping.

It feels really weird, as you keep moving and gaining speed, but you can't feel his legs moving anymore.

And a peek down his back tells you all you needed to know to plaster a wide smile on your face! Nothing is moving you other than the sheer thrust of his exhausts!

"<This is fucking awesome!>" You let out as you feel the wind blow back your hair, forcing you to keep a hand on your hat.

You have no idea how this might look from afar, but how else can quirk-powered rocket-skating look but awesome!

Shit, you almost don't mind the flaming bursts that could utterly incinerate you if you were to fall down!

But most awesome of it all is seeing Iida's plan in motion. The boy has always been a bit of a square, and most if not all of his movements are somewhat stiff and jerky, always looking more like sequences of straight lines than curves.

You'd even call it robotic, but Tin's movement is actually more fluid than that.

But right now, with Shoto having marked the shortest path and minimizing it's resistance, Iida's sharp and jerky turns feel like an advantage, as he has no trouble tracing Shoto's way.

And much like Shoto before you, you too manage to get ahead of Daisy, if only barely.
It goes without saying that you take the chance to wink and wave as leave him behind.

You can't tell if it was your mocking or just losing the second place, but you can see him get madder as you start building a small lead on him.

Then you notice what's behind him.

Knowing how Dark Shadow performs better while in the dark, it's not that surprising for you to see Fumikage swinging from the ropes themselves and latching to the sides of the pillars.

If anything, you are surprised by how damn fast they are to catch up. Dark Shadow is a scary quirk.

>"AND THE KIDS ON THE LEAD JUST KEEP GETTING FURTHER AWAY FROM THOSE BUNCHED UP FAR BEHIND! NOT QUITE AS FEW AS BEFORE BUT I'M NOT TELLING YOU HOW MANY ARE CLOSING THE GAP, STAY ON YOUR TOES KIDS!" Present Mic comments, refusing to be of any help. "WELCOME TO THE FINAL, HIDDEN OBSTACLE! THE MINEFIELD OF RAMBO 3! AND BEFORE ANY PARENT GETS TOO UPSET… YES, I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU, THE LADY LOOKING THIS WAY LIKE SHE'LL GORE ME, THIS ARE GAME MINES! NOT MEANT TO BE LETHAL BUT THEY SURE ARE FLASHY AND LOUD! YOU MIGHT NEED A CHANGE OF PANTS!"

>"The specifics depend on each person, but there shouldn't be anything more serious than some broken toes." Mr. Aizawa says, although you aren't sure he actually reassured anyone.

>"BUT THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN IF YOU KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE GROUND! THEY AREN'T BURIED VERY DEEP!" Present Mic continues.

>"A minefield!?" Iida asks, struggling to slow down enough to not enter the minefield at full speed, nor crash into Shoto's back, who was jogging at most.

"...Ain't that a kick in the head." You let out, seeing your lead practically banish before you.

As Iida starts his power walk around the field, you look over your shoulder, confirming your fears.

Daisy is right behind you, finally having finished The Fall.

Behind him, Fumikage is closing the distance, but maybe returning to direct sunlight might slow him down.

And not-so-far behind him, you can see Momo calming walking on a rope, not really fast, but without the hesitation Kirishima was showing behind her, nor the wobbling and close calls of Tetsu behind him.

This is also the first time you see Tsu since the beginning of the race, but she seems to be picking up speed on the ropes, while Ibara tries to do the same as Momo, albeit slower.

Mina is hanging from a rope with both hands, but if any other girl in the class can pull herself up, it would be Mina, so you aren't worried about her.

And maybe, if Mei would shut up and actually move, she might place better, instead of posing on the far edge of the chasm.

Anyone behind her is just impossible to tell apart, except for maybe the kid carrying a large piece of something. You just don't know about that.

>"THIS IS MEANS NOTHING TO ME!" Daisy yells as he blasts into the minefield right behind you, making you turn your attention back to him, Iida and the minefield.

>"Walker?" Iida suddenly calls for you. "I think now would be a good time for your secret move."

Basically I'm trying to figure out if the Ninja Turtles exist in-universe so we can drop bamtz on Stain, and this is one way to check for a no.
See if there were no superhero comics, then there's no Daredevil, which means no Turtles. Because the original Eastman and Laird Turtles, who Stain is a HUGE visual reference to, were themselves a giant nerdy tribute to and parody of Daredevil.

"Aye aye, captain!" You yell with a mock salute, first scrambling to stand up from your perch and them sliding down his back.

>"W-what are you doing!?" Iida asks you, probably feeling you manoeuvre around his waist.

"Getting the most bang for our buck, sugar!" You assure him, easily sliding down the side of his leg. "Don't stop, I'll be right back, I just need an instant!"

It's quite simple, really. With Iida carefully wading through the minefield, you have no problem aiming for a smooth spot to jump to, rolling a bit on impact and as soon as you stop, ramming your hands into the soft dirt below.

You may never feel the thrill of touching the air with your quirk, but the earth is the next best thing, always feeling right, like putting on an old cozy sweater.

But you know the race is more important than that sliver of satisfaction, so you focus on draining as much mass as you can hold from the surrounding earth…

But it's the first time you can feel the ground below you react in any way. It's only an instant, but as the white mist envelops your hands and disappears into your skin, you can feel the soft and freshly dug dirt rumble and shift, bringing the mines closer to the surface, and even revealing some of them.

Even as you start feeling a bit tired, you push that feeling aside in the blink of an eye, taking a knee and tapping your leg, kicking off as you return to your normal size.

Your own strength, greatly augmented by the explosive force of your growth is more than enough to send you right back at Iida's back, allowing you to grab on far easier than at the start of the race.

>"This is far harder now!" Iida whines as you get yourself comfortable on his back.

>"HEY, IT LOOKS LIKE CLASS A'S WALKER STUCK AROUND IIDA!" Present Mic comments. "STOPPING THE REST AND HITCHING A RIDE MIGHT BE ALLOWED, BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK ALL THAT WELL WHEN WE CAN'T SEE YOU FOR MOST OF THE RACE, <GAL!>"

>"Which is probably why she decided to return to her normal size." Aizawa points out. "All that remains is to wait if she does something worth watching."

Something worth watching?...

"LET'S GIVE'EM SOMETHIN' TO LOOK AT!" You yell, with your eyes almost as wide as your grin, giving Iida a gentle-but-excited kick in the ribs. "You get in position and I'll do my thing! You'll know it when it happens!"

He takes a moment to look at Shoto ahead of you, but he complies after a second.

>"READY!" He says, a three point running start position, or as close as he can with you hugging his back.

"LET'S GIVE'EM HELL, PAL!" You reply, grabbing his shoulders and transfering all the mass you have stored into him, as fast as your quirk allows you to. "<YEE-HAW!>"

As far as you know, you and your mother are the only people who can quickly change sizes without getting dizzy, but if Iida felt the same thing everyone you use your quirk on complains about, he doesn't show it.

Instead, he does as you hoped. Not what you expected, but what you hoped, riding the force of the growth with a level of skill you never had seen in real life, managing to compensate every blast under his feet and engaging his engines, shooting off fast enough to rip your hat from between your horns before you could reach for it.

Not that you would anyway.

If you had to hazard a guess, you'd say Iida is going ten times faster now, and with the roar of the explosions of the clusters of mines detonating under Iida's shoes, and the jets of flames shooting from his calves, you are perfectly happy with holding on with both hands. ...You can come looking for your hat later.

And as the minefield passes in a blur, your only regret is going too fast to wink at the red and white blur you leave behind.

"TAKE IT EASY PAL!" You yell at Iida's ear as soon as you get out of the minefield. "YOU CAN'T KEEP IT UP!"

>"I-I noticed… Yes." He replies, a bit short of breath, slowing down from "would make you want to puke all four times if it kept up" to just "really freaking fast".

>"AND THE LEAD IS SHAKEN ONCE AGAIN, AS THE THIRD PLACE TAKES A HUGE LEAP FORWARDS! THIS RACE KEEPS GETTING MORE AND MORE INTERESTING!" Present Mic announces. "WHATEVER IIDA'S GAMBLE WAS CARRYING WALKER, IT SEEMS TO HAVE PAID OFF! THAT'S LIKE HAVING A PLUS ONE QUIRK AS A BACKPACK!"

But there's only a small, last segment of the circuit before the final gate! Seeing that, you take the luxury of looking behind you.

Shoto seems to have abandoned all caution, just freezing everything a path and rushing to recover his lost lead, while Daisy starts sounding like an autocannon as he blast his way back to the front, catching up with Shoto.

Fumikage on the other hand, seems to lose all the momentum he gained on the last two obstacles, as Dark Shadow shrivels under the light from Daisy's explosions and Iida's flaming exhausts.

...What.

The next you had to check twice to make sure you weren't seeing things.

Tetsutetsu also managed to reach the minefield, and is crossing it pretty fast…

Bouncing from explosion to explosion. You don't know if it's good or bad luck, or even luck at all, as he keeps landing on poorly spread out mines, but they keep throwing him forwards… If that was anyone else (but Kirishima), you'd be worried for his safety, but being him makes you wonder if that's just a brilliant plan that you just don't get.

Momo isn't going that fast, but manages to get ahead of Kirishima by pole vaulting between the craters of Iida's steps, while the red head is enduring the blasts, but struggling to keep his balance after every blast.

Ibara's hair vines are spread over a large area, letting her carefully walk over places where you know there are mines, so you guess that she's spreading her weight on purpose.
>>
Mina seems to be just taking her time avoiding the mines, and the kid with the chunk of whatever seems to have given up, as there's too much dust in the air and he's too far away to be sure, but he seems to be raking the dirt. Maybe it's a her. You don't know.

But with the gate in plain sight and almost at arm's reach you have to ask yourself…

Who's gonna go through first? Even if you are somehow beaten to the gate by someone else, one of you will cross the threshold before the other.

[Gate(Mineta)]->[Just dirt.]->[ROBO INFERNO!(Lots of scrap.)->[THE FALL!(Everyone else.)]->[MINEFIELD(Fumikage, Tetsutetsu, Momo, Ibara, Mina. Someone?...)]->[(Iida, Ushi, Shoto, Daisy.)]->[Gate/Finish Line]

Sorry everyone, I can't update tonight.

Second, THANK YOU TEXAS-CHAN!

And since I feel bad about this, what do you think of a future costume change? This is by no means definitive, nor will I force it.
And even if you want, I won't force this design.
>>
>>2685854
I like it, seems more like an actual superhero rather than just a cowboy. Both of them are american ideals though so it's pretty nice
>>
>>2685854
It's cool. I'd want the tin star to have our hero name or just be our symbol so it doesn't need a word on it.
>>
>>2685854
It's pretty good but I feel it lacks in details. Like, something that represents our quirk or our mutations, besides the horns obviously.
>>
>>2685854
My gripe withe it is it shows to much skin, it is somehat for a safetyhazard
The cowboy theme is something we had early on and should stay, and the star as a trademark or symbol works fine
>>
>>2685875
This actually shows less skin overall with the leotard.
>>
>>2685871
Did the other one do much better though?
>>
>>2685875
To sum it up, showing skin is nice as a statement, or for style but not really practical whith so many quirks that can easily cause injuries to bare skin
>>
>>2685895
What was actually suggested is a sort of Heavy Duty covering in the utility belt in case we need it, and I think that goes a long way to making this a non-issue without getting rid of any option that isn't "full knight armor" or "burka".

While I kinda prefer the practical suit from before, this is still good. Would like if it had a few more details, like say something simple like a few white lines (like 2-4 or something) on the leotard. Would mean it's more than just a blue leotard and give it a more american vibe to it.
>>
>>2685493
THANK YOU TEXAS-CHAN!

>>2685854
I’d rather change our costume gradually, piece-by piece to reflect growth in what we know and believe as that changes, like with the introduction of our horn coverings coming after we got our exposed horns targeted. A wholesale redesign seems too much.
>>
>>2685854
a few things I though would spice up the design a little, here for everyone to see.

Costumes should represent something about the wearer. All-Might’s lack of armoring suggest his invincibility. Midnight’s everything flaunts her sexuality. The WWPC’s consistency reflects their unity, and their flamboyance suggests friendliness to those they are rescuing. What do these designs say about Ushi? We already have a design that says she’s american. What else is there about Ushi we can express?

Her quirk!
>>
>>2685957
I like the stripes, makes it look more distinctive from a usual bathing suit
>>
>>2685854
I dont like the exposed thighs. Its a very vulnerable area with a lot of blood vessels. I also feel like wearing white tights would have a striking contrast.
>>
>>2685854
I guess it also feel unneccisarily sexy as well. At least to me, it doesnt seem in character for ushi to expose herself like that. She tend sto have more of an innocent cutie appeal.

Also, i like the idea of some accents on the leotard. Its too bland right now.
>>
>>2686115
>Innocent cute appeal
>Massive cow tits.
>American in Anime.
>>
>>2686186

>>
>>2685493
Step on me, Texas-Chan
>>
>>2686186
Thats part of the innocent appeal though. Having the big tits but not showing them off as a focus. Not like having a areas that exist to pretty much focus the eye on her crotch.
>>
>>2686313
The tank top shows what's basically a canyon of cleavage though. They've definitely been a focus in every single scene in costume so far. If anything, removing that seems to be a more innocent option. Crotch window, I dunno, it's sexual but not really any more than cleavage? From a censor's perspective it's definitely more acceptable.
>>
>>2686331
I feel like exposed thighs to frame the crotch IS more sexual than the cleavage.
Like, the cleavage is just a product if their size, while the blank thighs is an intentional choice. Its not like Ushi bought a shirt with intentionally low cleavage. Its just a regular shirt being made to fit.
>>
>>2686110
I am pretty sure we've had this discussion further up in the thread, the other costume does no better at protection mechanically. A heavy duty costume for use in needed scenarios was suggested though, which I heavily recommend so that any costume we have ends up still looking interesting without having to be bulletproof.
>>
>>2686336
Yeah. I get it wont mechanically effect anything. I just dont like it for Ushi's costume. Like, im fine with it on Miruko, the bunny hero. She seems like the "look at me as i kick your face in" sort that would be fine with exposing herself like that. But i dont feel it for Ushi.
>>
>>2686335
Your feelings are yours, can't really change them, but I disagree.
I guess my logic is that there's less variables with this design, let's call it. Nothing is able to slip out. Can't really tell you what to find sexual though, would extending the legs of the leotard make you feel better or not?
I don't think it's out of character either considering Ushi's first reaction in social situations.
>>
>>2685854
I like it, though I'll have to second the idea of having off-center white racing stripes.
>>
Easy way to fix the problem you guys are having witht he exposed crotch is having a thicker belt with many pocket (basicaly stealling Momo's belt desing) and using the Bamf buckle in a enlarged form.

The only thing i want from this costume is Ushi enlarging the sheriff star and use it as a shield from time to time.
>>
>>2686389
THIS. I want the Star-Shield. Make it happen.
>>
>>2686389
The thing is, if your covering the thighs with a double wide belt, why not wear tights underneath anyways?
>>
>>2686417
There is nothing wrong with tights. I think some tights would be a good idea, I honestly don't care one way or the other about exposed thigh.

In a broader sense, I don't get the whole desire to be puritanical with the costume design especially since that's not how they do stuff like that in Texas, if anything they show off more skin than not from everything from marketing to cheer-leading uniforms to short shorts. It gets hot in Texas, so nothing wrong with a little skin showing.

I'm not opposed to her design describing her quirk or the type of hero she wants to be either. The Tin Star that is a shield shrunk down is a great idea, in particular I think the Texas Ranger star would work well for this purpose, the extra utility belt with extra pockets is also a good idea. We are a versatile Hero so it makes sense our costume would also reflect that versatility. The American colors show strength, unity, courage, and to the Japanese probably destruction. So I'm not against the stripes mentioned earlier on the body of the costume.

I think that Ushi wants to protect and rescue people as a focus to her Hero identity. We haven't decided this as a group, but that's how I imagine it. If we give her costume a more Ranger feel as opposed to a cowgirl than I think that would be good.

I'm not completely sure how you do that though. Perhaps instead of a cape/poncho she wears more of a duster type of cloak.
>>
>>2686509
>I'm not completely sure how you do that though. Perhaps instead of a cape/poncho she wears more of a duster type of cloak.
Dusters are exclusively for wizards, detectives, or losers trying to look edgy and cool. By default Ushi will fall into the third category.
>>
>>2686523
Any suggestion to get a costume with more ranger and less cowgirl feel? Cause I feel like that would be more into her style as a Hero.
>>
>>2686546
We might be crimping on Snipe's style then.
>>
>>2686549
So? Ushi is a big fan of him. Makes sense if she was inspired by him the way Deku's costume is inspired by All-Might.
>>
By the look of things my opinion is in the minority but I like the new costume as it is, including the thigh's.

>>

>>
Armor is retarded in this universe, Quirks are either going to break it or work regardless.

A duster is really dumb, it could get caught on things and like armor it would just weigh us down.
>>
"The less her attire weights, the more mass she can use on herself." -Present Mic
>>
>>2686614
By this logic a cape is just as dumb, and All-Might rocks it so i find your argument invalid.
>>
>>2686617
Allmight is Allmight.
Dusters are cool but I just don't see one fitting, they're also much bigger than a cape.

A cape can have a clasp that releases if it gets pulled on, not a duster.
>>
>>2686626
A duster can be pulled off your shoulders, what's your point?
>>
>>2686632
Have you heard of sleeves?
>>
>>2686632
Kinda hard with the sleeves and all. Need to get your arms pointed back to slid it off. Which means they arent doing other stuff.
>>
>>2686635
>>2686636
Yeah, they are easy to slip out of a coat if you need to. Done it many times in real life, go ahead try it, I can wait.
>>
>>2686639
Still harder than with a properly set up cape.
And far harder than with nothing.

Also at that point what's even the point of a duster.
>>
>>2686639
I can slip off a coat easily. But not if im holding something. Which can easily happen. Its not a proffession devoid of carrying stuff.
>>
>>2686642
Looks cooler than a Cape and more Hero-esque in a Texas Ranger kind of way to me.
>>
>>2686616
Explicitly this. The more weight we waste on armor the less we have to manipulate our size. It's not like armor even matters again most of the villains we have to fight.

Also people who just want to wear a brown coat are missing the point IMO. We're goddamn super heroes! Part of that is fun costumes! But no, dirt brown and not one inch of exposed skin. So lame.

New costume is good and I vote for that with no alterations of any kind.
>>
>>2686643
Design it to be tear-away then if you are so concerned. Easy
>>
>>2686555
For the record, while we do probably think Snipe is cool, Ushi on the whole mostly cares about females heroes like Midnight and Ryukuu. We explicitly had to vote on her favorite heroes earlier and snipe didn't come up at all.
>>
Ushi's two biggest influences at this point are probably Midnight and Mt lady.
>>
>>2686647
Then why not get a costume like Midnight then? I'm all more skintight latex.
>>
>>2686644
I just don't see the reason of weighing a character down with a big coat that will take up part of her power and get in the way.
>>
>>2686656
That's fine, that's just the reason why i suggested it.

one is a cultural trapping, the other is a racial charicature/
>>
>>2686859
the only thing the cowboy caricature is missing is a ten gallon and a sixgun.
>>
>>2686882
I think tapping into identifiable caricature or archetype is actually good for a Hero costume. It leaves an immediate impression and and easy for people to remember. Midnight is a dominatrix, Ryukyu has the Dragon/Dragoon, and Ushi could tap into Cow-girl/Texan Peacekeeper.
>>
>>2687170
archtypes yes. charicatures no. and only 1 at a time.
i think we need to focus on the american western aesthetic and not busy it up with dressing up as a caricature of our race.
>>
>>2687224
cowprint chaps is not uncommon for cowboy apparel
>>
>>2687224
I feel like the cow thing ties in nicely to a western aesthetic. So I disagree with your assertion that Ushi's costume has to have one influence.

Also what this guy said,
>>2687233
>>
>>2687224
So, the thing I find kinda odd about how some people see Superheroes is that Heroes are suppose to be kinda goofy, weird, and most importantly fun! I think a lot of this discussion in this thread to be shutting down fun ideas.

Even I haven't been the best about this, but I feel like people should open themselves to camp and weirdness of the Four-colors Superheroes influence.
>>
>>2687233
Yeah but cow print is so cheesy and a really obvious thing to mock. 'Of course the cow mutant is wearing cow print, she's just going back to her roots.' A Wild West aesthetic would be a more subtle nod to Ushi's heritage without opening the door to mutant shaming or whatever. The first alternate costume pic PM shared above does a great job in that regard.
>>
>>2687252
This isn't a golden age comic where anything goes. the universe is pretty bronze age, where things are kinda more grounded.
Most heroes go for a cooler, but still grounded aesthetic than wackier one.
except Wash. But no one knows what's up with wash.
>>
>>2687281
I don't know if you've met Ushi but she's not really subtle and if she wants to stand for her Cow People like her Hero goal sounded like she did then I fine with seeing her be really obvious about calling to her roots. People will make fun about her being a Cow girl regardless, so no way to avoid it and I don't think it should even be a concern.

>>2687292
See, I feel like Ushi's whole thing is more inline with Four-Colors than say the bronze age and I feel like an easy way to reflect her attitude is in her costume design.

Shut up Wash is awesome!
>>
>>2687292
It should be noted that the bronze age is still pretty campy as fuck.
>>
>>2687307
What I mean is in visual aesthetic if not in social themes.
>>
>>2687304
Yeah, He's cool. But he doesn't really fit aethetically with the other top 10.
>>
>>2687307
It's only so campy. Look at gang orca. he's an orca gangster. He's not an orca dressed up like a gangster covered in orca coloured clothes and extra orca parts.

There's no real reason to make a point of exaggerating and making a show of one's racial heritage. It would be like a black guy dressing like a black face minstrel show character.
>>
Can we please not go for cow print, that going too far.

How about something like a cowboy outfit that's white and red (the colors of the japanese flag)?
>>
>>2687348
Counterpoint the Wild, Wild Pussycats. They dress up as identical cat girls just for theme purposes. It is in no way outside the established camp of the setting to have cow-print. I don't ever agree with you that it particularly exaggerated either since it's not even outside the scope of cowboy attire.
>>
>>2687401
none are cats though. they're not making a show of their own heritage. it's just a costume.
>>
>>2687406
I understand that, it's just for a theme for the Wild, wild pussycats. My point is that the type of costume for Ushi that people were saying was not in line cause it's too campy is not too campy for the setting. In fact it actually means something to Ushi if she had cow-print. I'm not saying it has to look that way, but the option is fine and I kinda silly that people were so quick to reject it.

I argue that cow-print is not silly and could be a fine option. As a cow-person it connects her to her roots and says she's not afraid to be seen as a Cow mutant while also tying in to her western theme.
>>
>>2687424
Cow print is just ugly and has annoying connotations.

There are two more events after this…

It hurts your pride a fair bit to do it, but as you see the gate draw near, you shift your grip and make sure to tuck in your legs.

As much as you want to be get the first place, you can't just take it, not with Iida doing most of the legwork.

>"Careful, you are going to slip." Iida warns you. "What are you even doing?"

"Making sure I'm not stealing your thunder." You reply, raising your voice a bit to be heard over the sound of an abnormal explosion. "Who'd wanna pardner up with a hero who did that? I reckon Ah wouldn't."

>"I apologize, then." He says, slowing to a walk as he notices he can't go through the gate at his current size.

"What for, sugar?" You ask him with earnest curiosity as you shrink him down, taking a second to do it slower.

You really don't want to make him throw up on national television!

>"For a minute there, I thought you'd leave me out, unable to pass through the gate without your quirk." He answers, scratching the back of his neck in front of you. "Again, I apologize."

"Geez…" You say, still riding on Iida's back, even though you both are back at normal size. "I ain't that cold, I'll be happy with a second place… For now."

As both of you enter the dark tunnel, you make a mental note to go fix Mineta as soon as possible, but that'll be after the ra-

Then you feel your back hit the concrete wall, as Iida throws you against it, knocking the wind out of you with a single swift movement.

While your back muscles and wooden skeleton make sure that the hit doesn't actually hurt you, having to gasp for air keeps you from instantly screaming bloody murder at the double crossing, two timing snake that betrayed you.

Which turns out to be a good thing, as you can barely hear a whistling sound for a minimal fraction of a second before Iida hits the deck and… Deku!?

…And Deku flies straight through the spot both of you were occupying a second ago, crashing into the ground and somehow managing to roll back into his feet for the last few feet, stumbling through the gate and stealing the first place, marked by a loud buzz of the gate.

You aren't sure what to feel about that… But you know you aren't happy. Still, you reckon you can hammer out the details after crossing the gate.

>"DEKU! YOU BASTARD!" You hear the all too familiar rage filled voice of Daisy quickly approaching, causing you to look back.

Yep. He's closing the gap faster than ever, and without space to grow in the tunnel, there's no way you can outrun him, especially with less than twelve feet left to the gate. You don't even have space to accelerate!

So even as you take to your feet and run towards the light with all your might, you know you aren't fast enough.
.
You will cross before Shoto gets there, but with Iida jumping back to his feet, that's at least a fourth place.
>>
File: Louder.jpg (7 KB, 282x179)

And even though Iida's method may have been a bit painful, you are still thankful that he noticed the danger and shoved you out of the way.

At least you didn't get hit by Deku… That would have been a mess.
Even if he didn't hit you or Iida, hitting anything at that speed would have landed him at Recovery Girl's.

Whatever he did may have worked, but it also tells you that the kid's a bit crazy.

But before Daisy can blast his way past the gate, Iida shows incredible speed once more, grabbing your hand as he runs by your side and pulling you forwards. It almost makes you trip on your own feet, but the quickly repeating buzzing of the gate as both of you cross it gives you a feeling of relief that vastly overshadows everything else.

>"...AND SCRATCHING EACH OTHER'S BACKS, IIDA TENYA AND WALKER USHI, BOTH OF CLASS A, GRAB THE SECOND AND THIRD PLACES RESPECTIVELY!" Present Mic announces as you come to stand a few feet in front of the gate, while Iida continues forwards, seemingly to talk to his friend.

Deku has scratches all over, is wheezing with every breath, there's not an inch of his uniform that's not full of dirt and his eyes look like he's about to open the waterworks, but above all else, he looks just glad to be there, looking up to the crown from the middle of the stadium.

>"AGAIN!?" Daisy screams as he lands a few feet to your left before stomping away. "SHIT! GOD-FUCKING-DAMNIT!"

He didn't seem to notice you, being completely focused on cursing and the green haired boy, and you are perfectly happy with that.

On the other end of the rage scale is Shoto, who just looks disappointed as he arrives.
He does, however stand next to you for a second before grabbing your arm and dragging you a couple dozen feet to the side.

"Uh? Is something wrong?" You ask him, wondering would he do that.

>"I was not up to par." He answers, frowning. "But I was just taking you away from the gate. It was a matter of time before someone ran into you."

"Thanks sugar." You say, feeling a tinge of embarrassment at standing in front of a doorway once more, then you feel a hand on your shoulder and turn to face it's owner.

>"I'm sorry." Iida apologizes as he retires his hand, confusing you once more. "For shoving you and for our placement. I would have given you the second place if I had the chance."

"Third ain't that bad!" You tell him with a smile. Deku's recklessness is not his fault of his. "You did your best!"

"AND NOW THAT THEY ARE STEADILY CROSSING THE FINISH LINE, WE'LL GET TO COMPILING THE RESULTS!" Present Mic says, pulling your attention away from Iida's cute smile, making you look at Fumikage's winded figure coming through the gate, soon followed by Tetsutetsu, Kirishima and Momo, with none of the later three looking too tired, despite it feeling like a two and a half miles long run. "SO FOR THE TIME BEING, ENJOY A BREATHER!"

Damn. That last one was Present Mic, if you didn't notice.
---

Just as he said, the students start pouring in through the gate, still going strong after what you think must be the 30th student or so, but they look more and more defeated from that point on.

>"Ushi." Shoto says as the area starts filling up, following it up with an obvious question. "Did you lose your hat?"

"What makes ya think that?" You ask him, pointing at your hatless head.

>"I think I found it." He answers, pointing behind you.

He's right. It looks worse for the wear, and looks like the mines frayed and burned it some, but that's definitely your hat, on the head of that Gen. Ed. kid with the purple hair and not enough sleep. He seems to notice you, as he takes it off and waves it in your direction before putting it back on.

Looking away from his mocking smile, you see Iida and Uraraka talking with Deku. They look pretty happy, even as Uraraka looks a bit bitter. Probably because she didn't even make top ten.

A bit beyond them, you see a familiar pair of robots carrying a stretcher, rolling back and forth in front of the gate you started the race from, seemingly confused as to what to do.
And you have to admit that seeing Pony happily chatting with Monoma and a black haired girl piques your curiosity. They didn't even make top twenty, why is she so happy?

Now that you have a few minutes to catch your breath, you don't really have to think about what to do, walking towards the robots, their stretcher and your biggest classmate at the moment.

You were well aware of the fact that your stunt back at the start of the race was likely to incapacitate him, but you have never been sure of what happens after the hypoglycemia knocks you out, being unconscious and all that.

"Howdy fellas!" You call out to the small robots as soon as you are close enough to be heard over the excited chatter of the victors and the moaning of the new arrivals. "Having trouble with the big guy?"

>"As a matter of fact, yes, we have." One of them says, moving its arm up and down, waving the stretcher connecting it to its partner. "The boy reads stable, but we are unable to retrieve him for obvious reasons. May-"

>"Please stay clear of the patient." The other interrupts as you get close to Mineta's slumped form. "If you wish to transit through the area, we advocate patience. The medical team will complete retrieval of the patient within the next ho- da- wee-... The body will-"

>"Calm down, M0S. Let Walker handle this." The first robot loudly interrupts its companion. "If you could return the boy to his natural size we will handle the rest."

"Huh, should've known you'd recognize me." You comment a bit surprised before closing the distance and looking at Mineta up close. "Didn't think you'd care though."

The robot's assessment seems right. While his uniform has footprints all over it, and a couple of his grapes dislodged and stayed stuck to gate walls, including the stinking partially melted one, he doesn't look like he got anything worse than a scrape on the knee.

A nap, a glass of sugar water and returning to his normal size is all he'll need to be right as rain! That's a relief.

"Let's fix you up and getcha to Recovery Girl's." You say, crouching next to his leg and placing your hand over it, shrinking him back to size over the span of several seconds.

Once he's back to his natural-feeling three and a half feet, you do what's right and pick him up, intent on leaving him on the robots' stretcher.

But as soon as his head reaches chest height, he slumps towards you, weakening your grip on him. The normal thing to do would be to hug him tight and adjust your grip...

But he was clearly slumped away from your body when you picked him up, and you aren't dumb enough to just believe Mineta of all people falling face first against your breasts would be an accident. Instead, you keep the awkward grip, sliding an arm behind his back and grabbing one of his arms in your hand, dropping it over his unconscious face.
Like you had come to expect, his hand suddenly jerks to the side an inch away from his face, letting you know he was indeed, faking it.

It's enough to make your relieved smile dissipate. Not enough to morph into an indignant scowl, as this was more or less expected, but you still drop him unceremoniously over the stretcher.

"Well, at least you'll be able to watch the rest of the festival." You say out loud, disapprovingly crossing your arms, knowing full well that he was listening. "You ain't mad, right?"

"Damn, I hoped that'd work. But nah, I didn't think I'd get too far, and going out in such a big way makes it look like I would have." He replies, dropping the act and sitting on the stretcher, getting the robots to look at him.

>"All's forgiven then, cool!" You say, feeling relieved, looking at the robots turning to look at you.

>"Hey, I never said that." He says, getting the robots to start looking at him again. It's a bit dizzying. "I mean, no harm done, but that was a real dick move. You owe me one for that."

Had it been anyone else, you would have just smiled and said that yeah, you'd make up for it.

"...No." You say, slowly taking a step back and looking up, avoiding looking at the robots. "'nope. No way. Ain't happening. <No way Jose>. Nuh-uh."

>"At least hear me out! It won't be anything too bad, I promise!" He says, shaking his fist in the air."

"Okay… What is it then?" You ask, your voice full of well deserved suspicion. "If you say "take off", "show me" or "touch" I'm walking out. Not gonna touch you either."

>"...I don't know. That pretty much left me out of ideas. I'll tell you when I can think of something." He says, shrugging. "Not gonna waste this one on asking you to jump or to touch your elbows."

"...I'll be going then. See'ya." You say as you start walking back into the arena, somehow feeling a little bit dirty just for not telling him off.

>"I hope we don't meet again." The more coherent robot says as they too leave, taking their stretcher and so called patient with them. "Take good care of the unit you abducted."

You almost wish he had asked for something outrageous, just so you could have blown a fuse and be done with it. Even if you aren't obligated to do what he asks for in any shape, way or form, the fact that you don't know what it'll be still bugs you in the back of your skull.

But you know how to push that away for now. It's hard to stay upset when in company of cheery, happy people!

While you normally would look for Mina to cheer you, Deku and his friends are almost a second sun of positivity right now, only held back a bit by Uraraka and her visible frustration at her placement.

"Deku! Howdy!" You yell as you close the distance with a dash.

The poor boy can barely breathe with Uraraka intruding in his personal space from the side, but he seems cheerful nonetheless, as does IIda.

>"Congrats on the first place!" Uraraka says by his right, gritting her teeth. "But damn it stings being left behind!"

>"W-walker?" He stutters your family name as you go stand by his free left side. "Y-you too!?"

"That was so… Clever! You didn't use your quirk or break anything!" You say, grabbing one of his arms he so helpfully kept in front of his reddened face and testing it's full range of motion. You know it's silly, but it cheers you up.

>"Y-yeah… I… I knew I had to stay whole for... for the rest of the F-festival, r-right?" He stutters. "I was just lucky…"

"You got wool in your ears sugar?" You ask him, giving him a mock-slap to the back of the head. "I just came here to tell you how clever that was! If you call winning a race like this with your wits luck, you should stay clear of the lotto booths."

>"YEAH!" Uraraka says, mimicking something flying with her hand, right on Deku's face. "You went flying from the middle of us all to the first place!"

>"In a race in which everything was allowed, there's no shame in using what tools you find in the track!" IIda adds, shuffling closer to you.

"Like other racers!" You joke, giving the tall boy a playful punch to the ribs… That somehow gives him a coughing fit. "...Sorry? Anyway, Ah reckon I might 'ave been a tad dark, but I'm glad you didn't actually try milling your bones for this. Keep it up!"

>"Thanks guys." The green haired boy says, looking far less appalled and much happier.

"Really though don-" Is all you manage to say before the stadium's sound system called for your attention.

And even though you don't get to say what you wanted, you aren't exactly bothered by the interruption, as is Midnight who takes a raised stage outside the center of the stadium, her voice being magnified by the stadium's speakers.

>"And so it's over!" The heroine announces, lifting her mask and pointing at the jumbotron behind her with her free hand. "Here are the results!"

As soon as she says it, the screen lights up once more, showing a rotoscoped picture of Deku, the school's logo and his name, as well as his class, A.

The first few places you already knew, but there's a certain thrill to see the screen go down the first places.

1° Class A Midoriya Izuku

And you can't help but laugh at the tight lipped sort-of-smile on Deku's face as the crowd cheers for him!

2° Class A Iida Tenya

Then the screen changes to show the second place, who is far more serious, yet funny in his own way, as Iida looks so damn solemn that he looks like a living statue.

3° Class A Walker Ushi

As soon as the screen switches to show you, you strike a pose, bringing your left hand to your hip and flashing a V sign with the right.

Yet the cheering is far more subdued than you expected. Is the difference between second and third is so much larger than between first and second?

But the fact that even you could hear the crown mumble "Ushi? Seriously?" and similar things is a real bummer. But that doesn't mean there's no cheering, especially in the area where you find a familiar voice cheering at full volume, and you take comfort in that.

>"The 42 at the top have earned the right to advance!" Midnight says, pleasantly holding her hands together in front of her chest. "I'm sorry to all those who failed, but cheer up! The festival is far from done! There will be plenty to do for everyone!"

>"But for now, with the preliminaries out of the way, let's move on to the final selection!" She continues, cracking her flogger. "From here on out is that the press can start focussing on each of you! So go all out!"

After that, the screen changes again, no longer displaying the ranking but changing to something similar to a slot machine.

>"I already know what comes now, but the suspense is electrifying! Let's see what the second event is, shall we!" Midnight says, displaying her showomanship as she point at the screen over her shoulder, just as it stops. "Behold! A Human Cavalry Battle!"

>"<OH YEAH!>" You hear Pony cheer in the distance, and is not hard to find those… those damn huge horns...

>"Don't interrupt!" Midnight says, cracking her flogger in her general direction, somehow making Pony flinch from several dozen feet away.

>"I'm so-oo-rry!" Your friend says, behind Monoma.

"I have no idea what this means or how it works." You softly say, hoping someone nearby would tell you what a human cavalry battle is.

>"It's a team game, so I don't know how will it work…" Iida tries to explain.

>"It's simple! Get a few others and form a team, any number between 2 and 4 players work, and form a horseback configuration!" Midnight explains as the screen behind her shows No. 13, Snipe and Present Mic holding up All Might. Either they are stronger than they look, or All Might is lighter than he looks. "Basically it's the same rules as always! Swipe the other riders' headbands and guard yours! There's just little difference… Everyone will get points in based on their performance in the race!"

>"I get it! That means the point value of each warhorse will be change based on the point value of each of its members!" Denki yells near the stage, looking really proud of himself.

>"STOP SAYING THINGS WHEN I'M TRYING TO TALK!" Midnight yells, cracking her flogger again. "But you are right! The 42nd will be worth 5 points, 10 for the 41ts, 15 if you placed 40th and so on!.."

You take an instant to do the math in your head at that.

"So… I'm worth 200, Iida is 205 and you get 210!" You tell Deku, then flinch back at Midnight's glare.

>"With the exception of the 1st place, whose head is worth TEN MILLION POINTS!!! Have fun chopping it off fufufu~" Midnight says, flashing a predatory smile down at you. "It's what I'd do, after all, this is the chance for the low to dethrone the high! Welcome to our survival game!"

As each and every single student still playing turns towards Deku, including you, the pressure is so high that you feel you could smell it. It makes you take a step back from him.

>"There's only new hardships waiting for those who reach the top… You've heard it before and you will again, so PLUS ULTRA!" Midnight shouts, somewhat clearing the atmosphere, as you all need to look back at the screen.

She then proceeds to explain the details and rules of the event.

It's pretty simple. Each team will receive a single easily removable velcro headbands printed with the team's total points for the rider to wear above her neck. You'll have 15 minutes to steal other's headbands and protect yours, and you can keep playing even if you lose your headband or dismantle, as long as you get the horse back together. The only way out is if the rider touches the ground, which is an instant elimination.

>"And of course you can use your quirks! I want to see some fine brutality out there! But keep in mind that this is still a Human Cavalry Battle! If I see you attacking with malicious intent or trying to break up another horse, you are out!" Midnight finishes, swinging her flogger over her head. "Thats all! You have 15 Minutes to get a team ready!"

And with that, everything is chaos.

>"Ushi!" Mina says, grabbing your shoulders and shaking you up. "We have to do this! I can't be out of the giant team!"

>"Want to team up?" Momo asks you with a smile on her face. "You already know we work well together."

>"No one here knows you as well as I." Shoto says, looking around. "And I know no physical attack could get past us. All we will need to do is reap the our points."

>"<Hey! I'm the best horse you'll get!>" Pony says, waving her hands at her hooves "<C'mon we gotta do this together! Twinsies and all!>"

>"I see you are busy, but I've fought you before, and I'd rather have you on my side this time." Fumikage says.

>"He'd also like a closer view." Dark Shadow adds.

Grow mina. She maintains a steady amount of acid on her legs. Momo and Shoto can help on keeping the bad dudes off of the giant alien. We can win on the defensive
>>
>>2693260
>>[Accept one or more of them (Who?)] Mina, Momo, Pony

Gotta go with the gal pals. I really want more girls to make it into the third round than in canon.
>>
>>2693260
>[Accept one or more of them (Who?)]
You know what the smart thing to do would be? Grabbing the highest-placing students, making a wall, then playing keepaway. But fuck that. Pony, Shoto, Fumikage.

Pony for mobility, she's also right about twinsies. Shoto for defense, and he's right about knowing each other. Tokoyami for offense, and because Shoto and the bird have an understanding.I'm not saying Mina because acid doesn't really help, and we don't want to just destroy with the student government combo. Also, I kind of feel bad because we don't hang out with Pony as much as we should, she's been a really good friend even though she does dumb things sometimes.

My logic is that since all of us know our Quirks practically, we can cover weaknesses better and better capitalize on opportunities.

>>2693250
>But the fact that even you could hear the crown mumble "Ushi? Seriously?"
Rude
>>
Tsu would be great for this she can climb all over whoever we make big and knock people off and maybe try to grab some things with her tongue.
>>
>>2693260
>Go hunt for someone else

I’ve been thinking about this for a while. We can be giant, but giant fingers are bad for precision and therefor bad for snatching headbands. What we need is people with speed, precision, and range, for grabbing headbands, while Ushi can quickly move them around as a giant. If you remember back to the sleepover, Tsuyu and Jiro were able to smack the pirate out of the air. And we just saw what Ibara can do with those vines. Let’s look for:

>Jiro, Tsuyu, and Ibara.

If one of them is unavailable, we can substitute in

>Momo

Since we do synergize so well. Either way, it’d be an all-girl team, which would be cool.
>>
We could be the rider and just shrink ourselves and hide in someones hair.
>>
>>2693260
>>[Accept one or more of them (Who?)]
Momo, Mina, Pony.

Turn to Shoto, and say you want to fight him for this match. Tell him not to hold back.
>>
>>2693260
>[Accept one or more of them (Who?)] Momo, Shoto and Pony

The dream team!!
>>
>>2693260
We should go with Pony, Tokoyami and Shoto.
Pony is our best friend and she'd make a great mount for the team.
Tokoyami has range.
And I don't think I need to say why we'd want Shoto.
>>
>[Accept one or more of them (Who?)]
>>[Mina, Shoto, and Pony]

Mina and Shoto both have quirks good for keeping people away, we can either get huge ourselves or create Ultimate Horn Cannon Pony as needed.

...also I really want to know what horn cannon even does. And we've got enough good friends here that I don't feel the need to grab other who might technically be better.
>>
What’s Mina actually going to do? Melt their headbands?

We should get at least one of Jiro, Tsu, Ibara, or Tokoyami.
>>
>>2693260
If we get Shoto, we can just cover ourselves in a dome of ice. Then we're good.
>>
>>2693260
>[Accept one or more of them (Mina,Pony,Fumikage)]
Team Muties FTW
>>
could ushi just team up with Midoriya and go huge for a while
>>
>>2693430
Mina can shoot slippery liquids to make people tangoing with us slip and slide uncontrollably.
>>
>>2693430
Slide around/put acid everywhere so people can't get near us depending on whether she's horse or rider.
>>
>>2693430
Mina can do Area denial.
>>
>>2693260
I’m adding Tokoyami as an interest.
>>
>>2693476

>"No one here knows you as well as I." Shoto says, looking around. "And I know no physical attack could get past us. All we will need to do is reap the our points."
>"I see you are busy, but I've fought you before, and I'd rather have you on my side this time." Fumikage says.
>>
>>2693260
While Pony has great mobility, I'm concerned the rest of the team would have a hard time keeping up.
I say we go:
>Fumikage for Medium/Close range offence/defence
>Momo for Rider (for ease of creation of tools for us to enlargen quickly). Fishing, anyone?
>Shoto for zoning/long range offence/defence
So us at the front, Shoto and Fumikage at the flanks and Momo on top. Literall dream team.
>>
>>2693683
I mean, we could just pile everyone onto Giga Pony. That's an option!
>>
>>2693260
Mina, Shoto, and Momo

I suppose, but isn't that *really* tiring?

...The plan is to make one person big and put everyone else ontop, this isn't a problem.
>>
>>2693743
...I feel like people are forgetting that this is incredibly exhausting for the person in question
>>
>>2693743
A better plan is to make the rider tiny and hide them.
>>
>>2693743
doesnt the cavalry battle last for like half an hour
>>
>>2693752
Which is why we need someone who can afford to stay still.
Like Mina. She can just make use of her acid to keep our foes away, while the others play point defense. If necessary we could maybe switch her out for Shoto.
>>
>>2693752
I'm sure is not that bad if we don't make them max size, and pretty sure Pony has Wind dice.
>>
I still think it's better for us to just use our quirk in synergy with Momo. Maaaaaaaaaaybe use it as a sort of last resort if needed, picking up our allies and grow max to avoid a loss or something.

>>2693787
If there's anyone who can afford to stay still, I'd actually say it'd be fumikage. His quirk literally works *for* him.
>>
>>2693260

>pony
>momo
>mina

Tell shoto and shadowbird we would be robbing the crowd of a potentially epic fight between these three superpowers. Also girls team op
>>
>>2693816
yes, but making him big might not buff his quirk.
So then we'd have a large, scrawny chunni, and normal daytime DS
