(Previously we rolled a 21, 90, and 54)

As the Ifrits charge toward us, we are able to weather their attacks, at least a bit. Some of the flying Ifrits are tough to handle, due to them being out of range of our weapons aside from bows and T-Bows. As for the Ifrits on the ground, they seem to find it difficult to breach our formation, they try fire magic and simple brute force, but we find ourselves killing Ifrits somewhat easily. The flying Ifrits are also trying to Harass our own titan. And lastly, as the enemy continues to let loose more arrows, they aren't as dangerous to us since we have our shields raised, but their own troops seem to be advancing now as well.

As the troops move forward, they are met with our own ranged attacks. The arrows thin their numbers as they advance on us, while we continue to deal with the Ifrits in a handy fashion. Our Roc riders have engaged with the flying Ifrits, but the battle up in the sky seems to be anybody's game. The battle between the Titan and the Dragon continues to be a stale-mate, with neither side gaining the upper hand. The Titan is mostly reacting to the Dragon's attacks and using his powers to protect us, and doesn't really get much of a chance to attack. Our troops on the ground are doing quite well. However, what do we do now?

You see T'Wellal in the skies! You see him engage the leader of the Ifrits, a particularly powerful one. It appears that he has been holding this Master off as you were fighting the Dragon. He claims that only he can take this one down. As he uses his air magic to fly to the sky, he finds himself locked in a powerful duel against the Ifrit, who keeps calling himself the Master. As they continue to fight in the sky, the land forces seem to be taking significant casualties. Serious casualties in fact. However, as we see up in the sky, the duel seems to be heating up, as both the Master and T'Wellal go for one final attack on each other... Then you see a bright flash of light, and a strong gust of wind. Wind and the Abyss... Met. The next second you see both fall to the ground. The Ifrit simply disintegrates, but T'Wellal whispers something to one of his generals who catch him as he falls to the ground with a massive gash in both his head and his left side. Eventually, he takes his final breath, even as the medics retreat. Lakorandans all around start to cry for their fallen King. As their ground forces seem to be pressing on us more and more, they retreat abruptly, and while you are able to deal casualties to them as they pull back to the fort. You hear a voice. A dark, deep voice, coming from the Temple in the city itself.

"You have one final chance. I shall let you, and your forces leave IN PEACE. I keep my word, ask everyone who follows me. You cannot win this battle, not with your damaged forces. I shall make a truce with you, I shall not attack Lakoranda, nor the Bandit Clans, nor the Serene Valley, nor Tokrab for the next 30 years, and you do not attack me, or my people."

CRITICAL FAILURE

The enemy tries some delaying actions, seeing us moving north it appears that their northern forces, although sparse seem to have mounted delaying actions, skirmishing with the pillagers and using ambushes to try to stop them. We are almost entirely unsuccessful with acquiring more food, mainly because the crops that were grown, and much of the food was burnt and thrown away. However, it is not entirely bad. Our goat cavalry return with a massive excess of water, returning jugs upon jugs upon jugs of water in carts pulled by our goats. We killed a large number of cultists in the north, and their crops are almost non-existant.

The bad news is, we have very little food left. Good news is that we have plenty of water (at least for now) and have killed a large amount of their people in the north, and that their breadbasket is in flames.

What do we do now?

The initial zombie offensives seem to be ineffective at the enemy. They use a strong formation to fight off these zombies, while numerous are weaker than they previously were in life. Our ranged weapons seem to be doing very little for the time being, the enemy seems to be using what's left of their walls very effectively, using cover to protect themselves from our ranged fire. As for our advancing troops, they keep falling to enemy fire, finding gaps between our shields, and the enemy also arranges themselves in a shield wall formation, at least the front-ranks that is, the ones further back don't seem quite as organized.

Even as the ifrits attack your lines, dealing significant damage to your line, you start to fight back against them, stabbing them, and in many cases prioritizing them over their more regular troops, simply because they pose a significant threat to the formation. Currently, casualties are mounting on both sides, with them having lost 750, and us losing 650. Bringing us down to 3,850 and them to 4,250. Indeed, this war has been bloody, and so shall this battle. Even if we lose we have cost them many lives.

The enemy, while their equipment and training is inferior, they have a fire lit in their hearts that urges them to keep going, keep pressing forward. The Ifrit's fire magic continues to press us back and deal damage to our formation as our T-Bows are now back online again. We are taking mounting casualties, but so is the enemy. With all these mounting casualties, Grayview Necromancers, Bork Baya and his friend, the Lich start to raise undead and use it against the enemy!

As we are gradually pressed back by the enemy once more, we find that we are now taking more casualties then the enemy is! This is troubling news due to our forces being superior in every way, but they know the layout of the city better than us. However, we are steadily pressing them back, although at a heavy cost. Slowly we are approaching their temple, their citadel of the dark god.

As we drive the rest of the enemy out of the temple and kill the rest of them, we find ourselves thinking of what we should do with this entire city. Inside the temple is countless blood sacrifices, and even a chamber from where they worked to bring wydroganet into this world! The temple is quite a large complex, and within these lands is a lot of worshippers, whose faith has been shaken greatly. In addition, they report that many of the high ranking cultists, as well as the high priests of Wydroganet fled the city, many of which fled long before you arrived. Now that we have finally ended this war in success, we must ask ourselves. Also, We have found the heavily wounded dragon. The other dragon was slain by the titan. What do we do?

As you search for magical jewelry, you find an interesting trinket. A crown. It is made of an unknown metal, but as you put it on, you feel as though you are able to perform fire magic, and as you test it out you find yourself capable of performing Fire magic. In addition, working with the Lich you are able to raise the dead dragon into your service. While it cannot fly, it can bite very dangerously, seems to be quite durable, and is very dangerous as a whole. It also makes for an amazing mount.

>>2661469
You find a powerful shield! It is made of a rare earth-aligned metal and has an interior coated with what appears to be a certain kind of dragonhide, but the scales seem to be far more pointy than those of conventional dragons. You find a strong weapon, a Sword! It is made out of a firey red metal, and using it while practicing it appears to light itself on fire! A flaming sword, a fearsome weapon indeed! The sword itself also seems to hold a very sharp edge. The crossguard is modeled after the mouth of a dragon.

>>2662076
You find a dead dragon, but aside from that you find a curious herb... Bloodweed. It seems to be an uncommon-quality herb which enhances eyesight greatly, at the expense of feeling weaker for a period of time.

>>2662145
You have acquired a Tome from The Land of the Eternal flame! It outlines methods on how to kill Ifrits and banish them back into the Abyss so to speak. It appears that they are vulnerable to water magic, and that they can be easily banished with the use of a water rune of Banishment. They also have a keen sense of smell regarding Blood, which means that traps using blood as bait can be very effective. One such trap uses blood as bait, and then when the Ifrit takes the bait and starts to smell the blood, eventually tasting some. Then a slab of metal with the water rune of banishment engraved on it will fall atop them, mark them, and then they will promptly return to the Abyss.

As you finish up looting and pillaging the city, our mission is at last complete, although heavy casualties were taken (they will be tallied right after this) we were able to eliminate the cultist nation, and hopefully curb cultist influence within our nation.

However, the titan has called us for a council meeting. In specific, he requests that the dwarves come to meet him. He has come to set a few things regarding Necromancy, and the Abyss straight after what he has seen over the course of this war. Who will attend?

>>
As you come to a location far from the camp, the titan has sit down, however he does take up a large amount of space given his stature. After taking your respective seats in chairs made by earth magic, you watch and listen to him.

"I have seen some terrible actions undertaken by us during this war. However, I am willing to forgive much of it due to extenuating circumstances. The war against Wydroganet was necessary, and in order defeat the evil, we had to become it in a way. However, that does not absolve you of your actions."

He takes a second and pauses, thinking, and then begins to speak again.

"First of all, I'd like to address the issue of Necromancy. It is strictly prohibited by the Worldshaper to practice Necromancy on any race other than trolls. To do so is punishable by death. Trolls are permitted, simply due to the Worldshaper's animosity due to them, he believes them to be animals in a way. However, that does not permit you to go to the nearest troll burial ground and start raising every corpse you see. Every magical act of necromancy practiced must have a reason for it, and should be limited as much as possible. This war it was acceptable because it was a time of need. However, naturally it does not absolve you of all guilt. If the necromancy gets out of hand, and the nation itself is powerless to stop it, I, along with the Worldshaper and the Dragonforge will step in and end it. Is this understood by you dwarves?"

>>2667872
"Very well great one."
>>
>>2667872

"Aye. True Dwarves shouldn't turn a blind eye to corpse-raising any longer."
>>
"With that being resolved, I'd like to go to the next piece of discussion. I believe that there are people here who have tampered with Abyssal magic? I am unsure as to who might have done so, perhaps they are not at this meeting."
>>
>>2667872
“Today I will once more be a prophet. If the international undead society in and outside Dwarf lands should succeed in plunging deceased once more into a world of the living, then the result will not ne the destruction of just the Serene Valley and it’s inhabitants, but the annihilation of all life in the World!”

“Worldshaper and titans not abyss and necromancy okay.”
>>
>>2667940
"I'm not familiar with abyssal magics capabilities but all the same we shall avoid tampering with it should it be the Shaper's will."
>>
>>2667940
“It’s the high shaman.”
>>
>>2667940
"Tampered is something you would say a child has done, we are not children. Yes I have used abyssal magic and from it I have gained knowledge and power beyond which any other magic that exists. One can burn themselves with fire but we do not forbid the use of it. I will admit for those of weak willed delving into the Abyss is not a good idea but for this who are strong it is but another avenue for advancement so we can protect what is ours."
>>
>>2667953
"Hmmm, my suspicions have been confirmed."

>>2667961
"High shaman, you're correct. The Worldshaper has deep disdain for this sort of magic. There are many within our religion, specifically the conservatives. I shall make a fair compromise between you and me, because I do see the potential of Abyssal magic unlike many others. I shall monitor your advancement, alongside a group of other watchers as you progress in your research. We will advise you on how to proceed with your research. However, if I see you delving too deep in, I shall shut the operation down. Is this an agreeable compromise?"
>>
>>2667977
"If you agree to explain the origin of the Master of Darkness and his adversary. "
>>
"Did that Grayview man say something? I don't know."

>>2667991
He turns to you in a lecturing tone.
"As for the Master of Darkness, or as some would call him, the Man of Darkness... His past isn't fully known by us titans, but we do know of him. As for his adversary, the Master of Light, or alternatively, the Lady of Light is equally enigmatic, but we know some about her." As you know, there are 6 schools of elemental magic, Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Light, and Dark. The master of darkness and master of light are both powerful beings of their respective schools of elemental magic. What's truly curious about them is that unlike say, Titans or dragons, they have no concrete form. Each person sees them as they want to see them. It's entirely possible dwarves would envision the Master of Darkness as a dwarf. Humans could envision the Master of Light as a human. They have polar opposites and been at odds with each other ever since the world came into existence. Their power in their respective schools of magic is unmatched by any mortal being in existence, just like the titans are unmatched in earth magic, or the Kraken in Water magic. However, they have waged numerous wars against each other, some even before the Great Scarring of the World. The latest that I personally can remember was several centuries ago, when they brought their conflicts to the Lands of Lakoranda. That was 600 years ago. They're probably still off fighting somewhere. Is that enough?"

He turns to the rest of you.
"Do you have any questions for me?"
>>
>>2668042
"Nothing else."
>>
With the council meeting having been over, we return back home from the war, triumphant, although casualties have been heavy. Out of a total of 7,740 men that ventured into these bloody ashlands, about 2,500 returned home to those respective nations. Out of those 2,500, about 800 were dwarf, 170 were gnome, and 30 were elves. That ended up returning to our nation. Perhaps we can finally get some peace and quiet.

Regarding the Doomsday prophets, their numbers have significantly dropped.

As we upgrade our T-Bow designs, we find it growing increasingly popular with the neighboring dwarven nations. The Dragonforge has started to produce T-Bows of their own, and an FYT prototype is now in production! The Tokrabi have also been purchasing our T-Bows widely. The trolls west of the Dragonforge have also somehow gotten their hands on the T-Bows as well, but it is a much cruder design, with less range and less accuracy. In addition, the Supreme Senator has given T-Bow designs to both the Wakandans and the Fedrani, who both give us large sums of Gold. Enough to fill our coffers up entirely!

However, with this new innovation in T-Bow loading technology, we remain at the forefront of T-Bow engineering.

The Dragonforge helps us construct the complex to house the dragon. As it turns out, it is similar to a cage, however it is a tough one. Many of the materials have to be imported from the dragonforge to make it Dragon-proof. After much work, the Cage for the Dragon is completed, along with a mechanism that stabs it with a painful spike in order to train it. The head constructor from the Dragonforge says

It appears you have made good advances in prospecting your lands! With the titan's aid the Serene Valley's prospectors are able to find an absolutely massive deposit of iron, combined with the Iron Mine of Clan Argeno, these two mines will be capable of providing for almost all of the Nation's Iron needs. Iron is quickly replacing bronze as the go-to metal for making tools, weapons, armor, and anything else. Iron appears to be superior to bronze in almost every aspect.

The Fedrani once more protest to your construction of a massive border fort. From what we've seen, they've started to move troops to their western most town, and have been amassing them there for the sake of protection. Although they haven't militarized or conscripting people, we can see that they may well be preparing for war on our end. Several strongly worded letters, many of which are from the Leader of the Fedrani people have arrived to the doorstep of the supreme senator.

Light magic can also grant you influence over the minds of people, although it is quite limited in terms of your understanding.

As we develop more FYTs, the numbers of these FYTs increase to 6 in total. However, as we hear from the Dragonforge, they themselves have made their own FYTs, with them having rolled the first true FYT off of the production line, however it is inferior to ours for the time being. The Tokrabi Dwarves have also started to produce T-Bows of their own, although they still do buy many T-bow from us as well.

In addition to the proliferation of T-Bows and FYTs, a disease has started to pop up in our lands, It is called "The Bloody Death", It hasn't spread much, but the symptoms are vomiting blood, cuts that do not stop bleeding and extreme fatigue. Eventually the disease kills a the infected, usually within 1-3 weeks. Interestingly enough, it seems to have originated from the population of veterans that served during the war against Wydroganet.

As you look towards the dragonforge for help, it appears that they cannot help you much. The best way to deal with the infected is to Quarantine them. Even the Tokrabi, who joined us in the war against the cultists have started to report cases of it! As of right now, the infection is mainly affecting the veterans and their families.

As for the plague now, we'll deal with it like Civ bulgar does. Select what action you are taking and roll for it.

As we develop newer and better weapons, we find ourselves improving on the Bow once more, creating a bow with limbs that curve away from the archer when unstrung. This fashion of bow gives more speed to the arrow, and improves it's accuracy. However, they are much louder and not suited to stealth missions.

In addition, there are news of foreign developments! Lakoranda and the Bandit Clans have finally acquired the cure from us, and have started to rebuild after the plague that devastated their lands. In addition, news from the Fedrani! The nation of Heboranaz, a powerful drake nation along the coast of the great sea has started to settle lands further west, that were previously occupied by the Cultists. This creates a direct border between the Fedrani and the Drakes. Heboranaz is known to be a militarily powerful nation that has invested much in its military and has conquered several nations. In addition, the lands of the old cultist nation have been settled by Drakes as well. It appears that the Drakes are rising in power now, and moving ever closer to the lands of the Dwarves. We have recieved several messages from the Drakes stating that putting a Dragon in a Cage and using Necromancy on a Dragon is nothing short of a horrible act and a travesty.

The number of 1,000 soldiers is eventually agreed upon, and the First Legion has begun to train, our first standing army! We are able to support this number of soldiers well enough, so no major negative effects.

However, it also appears we have formed an army just in time! We hear that a war has erupted between the Tokrabi/Toscani Dwarves and the Merfolk to the south. The dwarves claim that there is no reason for this war, however the Merfolk continue to attack their lands. We have not experienced any war, for now.

As for the war itself, the first year of the war has been very interesting. Most attacks onto coastal villages have been repelled with relative ease by our soldiers, who are naturally more inclined to fight better on land. However, at sea it is simply just loss after loss. So far, the war seems to be in a stalemate, with the mermen having supremacy at sea, while the dwarves have supremacy on land. Also, any trade we may have done in the south by sea has been almost immediately shut down. Traders do not wish to lose their lives.

As you improve on your metallurgy, you finally get around to using the dragon! It's trained enough for you to use. Working near the dragon requires heavy protective equipment, namely a cool shirt, and flame-resistant clothes you bought from the Dragonforge. As a Kingdom you were able to easily afford it, and the Dragon can provide flames far hotter than any blast furnace can. In addition, the invention of Cast Iron, it is brittle but is extremely useful in the making of pots and pans, as well as ploughshares. It is useful for domestic products, whereas Wrought iron is used for military production.

In other news, the war against the Mermen ended as Abruptly as it begun, with both sides agreeing to a White Peace. It appears that the kidnappers had returned the princess safe and sound.

It appears that we shall invade the last rogue troll state! How many troops shall we send?
We have 1,000 soldiers serving in the first legion.

Then, we can conscript up to 3,845 fighting age dwarves, 545 gnomes, and 76 elves.

In addition, will we call upon our vassal states (the trolls) or any potential allies for aid?

War plan A has been decided upon! As our troops are roused, with a total of 5,000 Amassing in and around Dobak we prepare our men to March out. We are well equipped, with Edgewing by our side, alongside 2 FYTs. As for the Dragonforge troops, it appears that approximately 300 of them are armed with T-Bows, although their quality is inferior to ours. After a day of marching we finally approach the fort in the pass between two large mountains, it appears that the trolls have manned this location well, and Roc Riders report that the Trolls themselves are using T-bows as well! As we prepare to fire again, something goes wrong! One of the FYTs misfires and has jammed. As a result, it's unusable in it's current state and may take some time to be unjammed. However, the second FYT fires, and it does find its mark. It opens up another gap in the walls, although smaller than it would if both FYTs hit. The pursuit is extremely successful! With our goat riders and T-Bows, we are able to kill many fleeing trolls. In total, this day about 2,000 trolls died, in exchange for about 1,000 dwarves an excellent kill ratio indeed. In addition! With the help of our own titan, we are able to bring down the enemy's own titan!

The next day, we see a messenger with the white flag come to us, however they opt to speak with the Commander of the Dragonforge forces. After about an hour the troll and the Dragonforge Commander, Dortab Tornak come out of the tent and announce that these trolls have surrendered to the Great Dragonforge, and have agreed to become a protectorate. Second of all, we have helped you in the Eastern Troll Campaign. We have helped you progress technologically, and we have granted you many boons. The Worldshaper himself has sent a titan to help you! The Dragonforge has gained little to nothing from these endeavors. As a nation you have been expanding rapidly, while we have been stagnant. The Dragonforge deserves these lands. "We shall grant you the coast of the troll lands, and we shall take the interior. Would that be enough to satisfy you? There is plenty of land there, and easily farmable for you Serene valley folk. Perhaps this is a good medium? Much of it is untainted by the trolls, allowing your dwarves to move in."

As we return home, most veterans are fine with this gain of land. We do get news of developments in other lands. Heboranaz has heavily developed the western regions, fortifying them and resettling people into these regions. Secondly, it appears that Lakoranda is indeed in turmoil, with the death of T'Wellal a civil war has erupted between traditionalists, wanting to resume T'Wellal's policies of no necromancy and peace and progressives who favor rapid expansion, necromancy, and the practice of dark magics. Rumors claim that the Cultists are also operating within the civil war, fostering divide and working as a third party. Lastly, there have been attempts by cultists to get into our lands, but our strict border policies have prevented many from entering. Most attempt to enter through Fedrani Lands into the eastern district.

It is also faction project time.

The Naval school is in good order, bringing skilled naval commanders from all across the serene Valley. In fact, you even get a retired Merman Officer to help you with your navy as well!

You have theorized that after the Bireme, the next level would naturally be to make a Trireme. However, you simply are not able to fit all those oars into a ship for now, it will need some time until the design is perfected. For now, Biremes will simply have to do. However, you have constructed 5 Biremes to use and are available in the eastern district.

You are able to easily armor Goats, as they are capable of carrying much more than just an armored dwarf. You give them head protection, as well as side and frontal protection from most attacks in the form of scale armor strapped to them. As for rocs, the armor you give them is far lighter, however it is mainly leather armor for the Roc's soft underbelly, Most rocs can support a dwarf, his armor, and his weapons so the armor is forced to be light.

We extend the offer of support to the Traditionalists in the Lakorandan civil war. After some time, a message returns to us requesting supplies in the form of food, money and weapons. Shortly thereafter, we begin to process the order and send aid as fast as possible to the Traditionalists.

As you prospect the new territories by the coast, you find very little in these new territories outside of Iron, which seems to be quite common in these lands as well, and as a result you set up a mine. Outside of that, very little is found.

As for the Lakorandan Civil war, it appears that the Traditionalists are gaining ground in it, while the progressives are retreating on all fronts. However, the Cultists are growing in power within the civil war, with many progressives joining them as the Progressives lose ground.

Several Cultist groups have been apprehended, and two major government officials have been busted practicing the worship of Wydroganet! Needless to say, Fedran has proven capable of purging cultists from their nation. Most are either expelled and sent into Heboranazi lands, and others are simply killed.

The civil war seems to be majorly in favor of the Traditionalists, having received support from both Heboranaz and the Serene Valley. The progressives are losing the war rapidly.

One of the dwarven bandit clans, in fact the largest one has also been taken over by cultists, with one having declared themselves a leader. In addition, this year has had an odd event. For a full 72 hours (3 days), there was no sun, just darkness, no moon, nothing. After that, a day came where there was no night, giving us an undisturbed 36 hours of sunlight. As for world events, the day of two suns as it is called, is even hotter than the one we had a century ago. In addition, the Worldshaper has received a vision. He refuses to say anything on the topic aside from the words "He's coming." According to sources, he speaks those words in a frightened manner.
