You are Mick Frost, an Imagineer working at Walt Disney World. You were chosen to be the model of the first Disney Host Interactive, a holographic guide to the park. However, you discovered that there is a reason why you were chosen, as well as why the DHI was implemented in the first place: Disney characters are made real by the collective belief and imagination of the world- including the villains, who have banded together as the 'Overtakers', plotting to seize control of the park and eventually the whole world. When you fall asleep, your mind is transferred to your DHI self, armed with a weapon called the 'Keyblade'. You are the park's only hope to fight back against the Overtakers.

---

You come into work after waking up from your DHI body. Considering how badly you were injured by the Guard Armor, you're a bit surprised you don't feel hurt or fatigued in your physical form. With the DHI projectors set up in the Magic Kingdom, the rollout of the program is being planned for the other parks and attractions- Epcot is the next to get the projectors, and will have special audio for your DHI recorded in different languages. After Epcot comes Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios. There's currently no plan for DHI implementation at the water parks or the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

After yesterday's disastrous cavalcade of attraction failures (which you now know the cause of), Imagineers and crew members alike are on high alert, making sure nothing goes wrong. You're doing a walkthrough of Fantasyland. Because your face is now seen by thousands everyday, Wayne told you to wear a hat and hoodie so people don't see double Micks.

You get the feeling that someone's watching you. However, when you look behind you, you see nobody there.

You continue walking around Fantasyland, watching as families ride the Mad Tea Party and meet with crew members dressed like the Disney Princesses at the Princess Fairytale Hall. You can see the joy in the children's eyes as they run around, smiles of wonder on their faces.

However, your attention is seized by something out of the corner of your eye- something like smoke lingering around the building that leads into the Small World attraction.

You feel like you're going to need another set of eyes on this one.

"Mick? Something wrong?" asks Wayne.

"Can you come down to It's A Small World? Something weird's going on..."

"What kinda weird we talking about?"

"I saw some sort of black cloud near the entrance. Could be smoke or....something else."

Wayne seems to get what you're implying. "Roger that. Lemme get a temporary shutdown authorized and I'll be right with ya."

After a twenty minute wait, the attraction is shut down and the people in line are given FastPasses as consolation. Wayne walks up, looking concerned. "You sure you saw black smoke?" he asks. You nod.

"Hm. Never dealt with any smoke before..." Wayne says as the two of you walk into the attraction, walking along the sides of the ride that the animatronics are bolted down to. "The Overtakers might have some new trick up their sleeve, so stay sharp."

You turn on your flashlight and inspect the animatronics. Everything seems to be in working order-

-and then you see something out of the corner of your eye: a sphere of black gas, with a jagged red mouth and two staring yellow dots for eyes. Just as you spot it, another one shows up...and another....and another.

"Wayne, we got a problem." you say.

"Yeah," says Wayne. "I see 'em too."

The Heartless begin to descend, and you assume they're coming for you- but then they seem to slip inside the animatronic dolls.

The dolls suddenly turn, dead eyes staring directly at you. There's the sound of rivets popping as some of the dolls force themselves free from their anchoring bolts, skittering towards you as a miasma of darkness surrounds the possessed dolls.

You try your best to fend off the dolls, but there's so many of them and you're unarmed. The dolls are small, but they have the numbers advantage. They swam you, clinging to your legs, arms and face. A Dutch boy positions itself over your eyes, effectively blinding you.

The animatronics flail wildly, and you stumble against your will towards the edge of the ledge. You realize what they're trying to do- they're trying to push you into the water and weigh you down until you drown.

You feel your feet cross over the precipice just before plummeting into the water. The water isn't deep, but it's deep enough to cover your face. You took a deep breath before they dragged you down, and now you're desperately trying not to panic as the dolls pin you down to the bottom of the canal. You start feeling light-headed, and for a moment, you think this could be the end for you.

You hear something above you, but it's muffled by water. Suddenly, the weight is pulled off of you and you feel a hand pull you out of the water by the back of your shirt. You gasp, lungs burning from nearly drowning. Wayne hauls you back up to the ledge and out of the attraction.

"Breathe, just breathe." says Wayne. "If anyone asks, you slipped on some oil and got pinned under a boat."

"Right," you wheeze. "We need to lock the ride down. Tonight, I'm gonna give those Chucky-wannabes the business end of a Keyblade."

Wayne hands you a towel to dry off with, and after wiping your face, you swear you see someone from across the walkway, watching you from the shadows. You squint to make out the figure- a tattered red rode, a hood that concealed the figure's face, bony fingers, and a pair of horns jutting out of the hood.

"Hey, Wayne, do we have a cast member playing the Horned King?" you ask. Wayne looks at you, puzzled. "The Horned King? No, I don't think we've had a cast member play him-"

He stops, and follows your gaze. The Horned King's eyes glow a sinister red before he vanishes into thin air.

"I didn't know he was with the Overtakers..." Wayne muttered. "I'd bet you dollars to donuts he was the one who called up the Heartless in there."

"The Horned King? Really?" you say, trying to make light of the situation. "The Overtakers sent a D-List villain to take me out?"

Wayne doesn't look amused. "If they're sending someone as forgotten as the Horned King, they're likely playing it safe. We're going to need to be careful, too."

The rest of the day, you try to keep an eye out for the Horned King. When you get home, you're ready to hunt him down.

---

Your DHI body materializes on Main Street, like it did the first time. You will your Keyblade to appear as you see Sarah and Wayne approach.

"You're going to want to take this." says Sarah, handing you what looks like an earpiece. "It'll allow us to keep in contact while your around the park. It's a projection made by the DHI system, so it should work for you."

You put the earpiece in. "Alright, any activity in Small World?" you ask. Wayne shakes his head. "I don't know where those Heartless went, but they've seemed to have ditched It's A Small World. They're probably somewhere else in the park."

"I'll keep my eyes peeled." you say. "If the Horned King really is controlling them, then those Heartless will be wherever he is."

You begin your patrol of the Magic Kingdom.

Your patrol leads you back to Fantasyland, and you hear a commotion near the Prince Charming Regal Carousel. You turn to look to see a strange and terrible sight- Cinderella, being pursued by the Horned King. The princess runs across the carousel platform and the skeletal fiend follows, dark miasma surging around his bony fingers. You look to see the control panel for the ride is nearby. Cinderella has cleared the platform, but the Horned King is following closely behind.

"Leave her alone!" you shout as you wind up and throw your Keyblade at the villain. The Keyblade rapidly goes end over end, almost achieving a buzzsaw-like appearance as it blurs from the movement.

There's a satisfying 'wham' as the Keyblade strikes the Horned King, who turned around to look at you, only to get a spinning Keyblade to the chest. The impact sends the Horned King sprawling.

"Oh my-!" exclaims Cinderella, looking startled by your appearance.

"Your majesty, you need to run!" you say. You didn't mean to say 'your majesty', it just sort of slips out. However, the Horned King slowly rises back up.

"Foolish man..." rasps the Horned King. "You think a magic key will stop me? My power is like an ocean, infinite in its depth and darkness. You nothing more than a candle...a faint light fated to be extinguished."

The Horned King spreads his hands and a very familiar item materializes before him: a black cauldron- no, THE Black Cauldron. With a wave of his hand, the Horned King does something that causes inky blackness to boil and bubble up from the Cauldron. Cinderella runs off as you watch the imp-like Shadows begin to pour out of the Cauldron.

You lay into the Horned King. While he may have presented himself as a formidable sorceror, he sure isn't much of a physical fighter. However, you're about to swing again, he grabs you by the wrist with a cold, lifeless hand.

"Enough," hisses the Horned King before flinging you aside. "You're nothing more than a pissant, a pathetic mortal who thinks he's some valiant hero. Cease this foolishness and submit to death, and perhaps I may make your end swift and merciful."

"Bite me, Skeletor." you snarl. The Horned King roars and dark crimson energy erupts from his fingers, forming into a swarm of dark orbs. The eldritch spheres are closing in on you, and they seem to be homing projectiles

"Fire!"

You aim your Keyblade at the space between the Horned King and the Cauldron. However, you misjudge the angle and end up blasting just the Cauldron. The Cauldron gets sent flying, smashing against the pavement with a loud 'clang'. Toppled and with nobody in control, the Cauldron begins to glow an ominous red. It shakes and rattles as Shadows begin to flood out, and the Horned King seems alarmed.

"It would seem the fiend's control of the Heartless is limited to the ones he makes." says a posh British voice. You look around wildly, but don't see anyone.

"You're going to want to get airborne," advises the voice. "And I'd recommend you do it quickly."

You decide to trust the voice and take a leap up, landing on top of the carousel. Just as you do, the Black Cauldron's seemingly unending torrent of Heartless meets the Heartless tower, and now it's just a flood of Heartless. It surges like it has a tide. The Horned King tries to retrieve the Black Cauldron, but the horde of Heartless is too dense to even push through.

"No! I control you!" the Horned King screams furiously at the Heartless as they swarm him. "You will not destroy me! I FORBID IT!"

A wave of dark crimson energy pulses out, but the Heartless just won't stop coming. You hear the Horned King scream in fury and pain as a literal tidal wave of Heartless comes down on him, the scream abruptly silence.

Once more, the Horned King was undone by the Black Cauldron's power- but not the way you expected it.

The Black Cauldron, no longer in possession of a master, seems to wink out of existence, along with the Heartless born from its depths.

"Well, that was uncomfortably close." mutters the voice. You turn around to see a very small figure looking up at you- a brown mouse dressed in a brown overcoat.

"Excellent show, friend, though your aim with that pyrotechnic trick of yours could have been better." comments the mouse.

You can hear Sarah's voice over the earpiece. "So that's the one who's been reading my files while I wasn't looking!" she yells indignantly.

Basil seems to be able to hear her- the volume on your earpiece must be loud enough for him to hear it. You didn't think it was possible for a mouse to go red in the face with embarassment, but that's just what Basil does. "Yes, I did need to...'outsource' some of my investigations." Basil says awkwardly. "However, I did find something out on my own- the Overtakers are looking for something hidden in the park."

"Something hidden?" asks Wayne. "Are you certain?"

"Correct," says Basil. "The Overtakers were very keen on keeping you occupied while they searched for whatever they're looking for. However, I couldn't figure out just what their coveted object was, for they realized someone had been listening in on them."

Basil looks down, looking ashamed of himself. "I was careless and left evidence of my snooping. I barely made it out alive, and by the next day they'd completely moved their base of operations."

"Where were they operating from before?" you ask.

"A place called Discovery Island. Totally abandoned." answers Basil.

That makes sense: Discovery Island was, until 1999, essentially a miniature zoo. Guests took boats over to Discovery Island, and here they could view a number of bird and animal species including flamingos, swans, tortoises, and much more. The animals were eventually moved to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but otherwise much of the island has remained largely untouched.

"If the Overtakers are looking for something, we need to pay closer attention to their movements..." says Wayne.

However, your attention is grabbed by something glittering on the ground...

You look at your Keyblade, trying to figure out where the Keychain would go. You find a Mickey Mouse symbol hanging from a chain on the back of your Keyblade, and you touch the Keychain to it.

Immediately, your Keyblade glows and begins to shift its appearance. You watch as the blade lengthens and widens. The glow fades away, and your Keyblade looks radically different: the blade is shaped and colored to look like a castle tower with a green dragon coiled around it, mouth open in a roar. A jet of 'flame' sticks out of the dragon's mouth, forming the 'teeth' of the Key. The knuckleguards around the hilt vaguely form the outline of a shield.
