You and Winona stare at your phone. You haven’t seen or heard anything from Josephina in a while. Part of you is worried that her mother may have just outright eaten her or something. Well, eaten her metaphorically in terms of… no, stupid analogy. You’re just worried that her mother may have just told her that Tankery was done and over. Maybe she’s too distraught to face you.

Regardless, today was Thursday. That meant practice today.

Winona frowns as she hangs over from her top bunk. “I’m worried.”

“I’m worried too,” you say.

“I’m more worried than you are,” she says competitively.

“I’m her Commander. What happens to her is my responsibility.” You give Winona a sharp look. “So I’m more worried than you are.”

Winona glances away, pouting. “Mm. Fair.” Cuddles slithers out of her top, curling around her neck. “What do we do though if she’s not going to take Tankery anymore? Is Denise going to replace her?” Why would Denise replace Josephina? Granted, if it does come to it, you may have no choice. But still? At least have some faith, Winona. She gasps. “You think Lang is going to.”

“…” You squint. “Why would my horse replace Josephina?”

“Aw, you remember you have a horse!” Winona boops your nose. Ugh. It’s actually been a while since you’ve seen your horse. You hope that Carolina doesn’t consider it rude that you don’t really use him for anything. She smiles a little. “Still, I hope she gets her Mom on board.”

“I hope so too.” You put your phone away. You’re not going to do anything by sitting and hoping though. Maybe you’ll see Josephina at practice today. Or maybe her phone is just dead and she’s letting it charge. Regardless, you can’t just dwell it on all throughout the day. “How were your double shifts yesterday by the way?” you ask.

Winona grumbles, folding her arms. “Hell. I had to fix so much stuff yesterday! How do Freshmen even manage to wreck so much stuff? I had to fix one of the van’s engines, I had to replace like a hundred lightbulbs!” She shudders. “And all those toilets… aw God.”

Part of you is really glad your major is not Engineering.

Regardless though, you have a couple of options right now. The Captain doesn’t have you scheduled all throughout the rest of the week so you’re free to do whatever you like. Maybe you can visit work at the office. Maybe you can take the day off. Hm…

We are going to WORK WORK WORK!
>>

Denise escorts you to the office happily. “It’s nice that you’d come to us even though you have the day off. I’m sure though that Athena and Hilda might not be so happy.” She leans over, whispering in your ear. “They like to use your absence as an excuse to play Halo on the computers.” Hmph. Well, you’ll have to put a stop to that. Video games are one thing, but you’ll not tolerate them during working hours! Good work, Denise!

Right, you grab the handle and clear your throat. Give them your most authoritative voice. “No more Halo,” you say quietly. Right, one, two, three! You open the door.

And are immediately assaulted by a cacophony of barking and howling. Athena, Tessa, and Hilda stand on their desks, frightened and scared as two blurs of fur run around the office. “What the hell!?” you shout. “What’s going on here!?”

Tessa shouts, “Captain Spruance adopted new dogs for the crew!” What!? Tessa and Athena hug each other in fear as the two dogs, an English bulldog puppy and a German Shepard puppy it seems, sprint around the office at each other. “Save us, Elodie!”

Hilda screams, “This is why I prefer gerbils!”

Well… first off, you don’t consider yourself good with dogs. But you’ll do what you can!

You take your jacket off and hand it to Denise. Then you roll up your sleeves. “Right. Follow my lead, Denise. I’m gonna catch these dogs!”

“How brave!” Denise says, stars in her eyes.

You then proceed to run and get tackled by the bulldog. You’re thrown to the floor and they immediately pile all over you before going back to chasing each other around the office. Ow. Hilda tries to keep herself from giggling at you. Where’s Fina at a time like this? Dang it. You roll over onto your stomach and get back up. Come on! Can’t be that hard to chase a couple of dogs! You run behind them, hands out as you try to grab their collars!

Holy hell they’re fast though! The dogs see you, and apparently interpret this as you wanting to play. And play to them means GOING FASTER! They bark and howl as they break off in two different directions! Come on! The bulldog runs between your legs while the German shepherd tackles your leg before running off again. How do these dogs have so much energy!? The bulldog again moves to pass around you.

Nope! You leap and tackle it down. The dog growls and barks as it tries to wriggle from your grasp! Got you now you little booger! The German shepherd responds by leaping onto your back and jumping onto Athena and Tessa’s desk. The two girls scream as the dog comes back down and starts running circles around you, barking and howling.

You pick up the bulldog puppy, then come over and grab the German shepherd puppy too. Augh! You look down at your uniform. You’re filthy now! Damn dogs! You check their tags.

The bulldog is named Admiral Halsey, and the German Shepherd is named Admiral Fletcher. Hm. They pant heavily as you hold them like newborns.

“Oooh, lemme take a picture!” Denise immediately snaps a photo of you on her phone. “I’m going to send this to Jeep Jo-“ NOOOOOOO! YOU’RE FILTHY! YOU’RE DIRTY! STOP! You slap the phone out of her hand. She looks down at her phone then up at you. She understands now. “Ooooorrr I’ll just not do that.” She smiles nervously, chuckling.

Tessa frowns. “Not that I don’t like dogs, but they’re too active! What do we do with them?”

> “Well, they can’t stay here. I’ll find a place for them.”

“I’m sure they’ll be a welcome addition to this office,” you say. “Much like Admiral Nimitz. Speaking of which, where is he?”

Hilda motions you over. She leans over then opens a big drawer in her desk to reveal Admiral Nimitz hiding from the two dogs. Oh. Admiral Nimitz hisses loudly at the two dogs who begin barking at Nimitz in response. You never thought you’d be in a room with Nimitz, Halsey, and Fletcher at the same time honestly. “Have these dogs been trained?” you ask.

Tessa says, “The Captain claims they have. They’re for hunting vermin like the cats do.” Well, they’re well behaved enough sitting in your arms relatively speaking. You shut the drawer, hiding Nimitz away. The two dogs start barking, apparently confused by where Nimitz went. You place the dogs down and they immediately gravitate towards the drawer, pawing and sniffing at it.

Denise kneels down, petting Halsey on the head. Halsey responds by rolling over, grinning at Denise. “Awww he’s so ugly but he’s so cute!”

Hilda looks down from her desk. “I don’t wanna risk anything right now. Those dogs are little hellions.”

Athena says, “They seem docile enough if you give them attention.” Fletcher whines, pawing at your leg, apparently begging to be picked up. Aw, he likes being picked up too. You pick Fletcher back up and he starts licking at your cheek. Aw ugh ew augh! Only Jock can do that! Disgusting! You flinch back, grimacing. Wait. Why did you just think- EW. Augh!

“I guess things are secure in here then?” you ask. The girls start coming down from their desks, cautious. “Good.”

Tessa says, “They’re not so bad! I just hope these are the only new dogs Captain Spruance adopted.”

“What about the pets that the Worker’s Party asked for?” says Athena. “Aren’t they still bringing more?”

“Aw, those are just personal pets! These little goobers we have to deal with on a daily basis.” Tessa kneels down and starts petting Halsey with Denise.

> “Well, if we’re secure, I’ll be going.”

“Well, if we’re all secure here, I’ll be going,” you say. “Try not to dirty the place up with dogshit or anything.” Athena gives a lazy salute. Well, at least she’ll be diligent you suppose. But regardless, you want to at least be assured this place is going to stay shipshape by the time you start getting back to work regularly. Cats are one thing. Dogs are a completely different beast. “Denise, come on.”

“Alrighty!” Denise moves along with you out the hall.

You arrive at the tank hangar after picking up a spot of lunch. You munch down on a cheeseburger as you step inside. All the tanks are looking clean and in order. You find the Survivalists are working on their Jagdpanther as you step in. At this time of day? Probably skipping class. You’ll forgive it though because you do have the playoffs coming up so soon.

However, you do see Griselda at a clipboard on the phone with somebody. “Yes, yes, I know.” Griselda paces around the floor, obviously unnerved. “I’ve already said that the judges are welcome to inspect our vehicles.” Oh, the Commissioner? “Thank you.” Griselda hangs up, sighing deeply. She looks over and says, “Oh, wonderful! Ellie, how you doing?”

“Just fine. Was that-“

“Yes, the Commissioner,” she says. Griselda rubs her nose, groaning. “She’s been on my ass lately ever since that meeting. I guess it’s understandable. And it’s not like we’re the only ones being checked over. All the playoff eligible teams are being inspected too. It’s still fucking annoying.” She frowns a little, looking to you. “Have you heard from Josephina?”

You shrug. “Nothing.”

“Fuck.” Griselda stomps her foot. “Ellie. You realize that if Josephina isn’t going to be your driver, we have to find you a replacement.”

“You don’t think she’ll be back?” you ask.

“I’m considering the options.” Griselda folds her arms, not particularly happy looking it seems. “I mean, I’d love for her to take Tankery but the team isn’t going to make her do Tankery if her Mom won’t allow it. We’re not Child Services over here.”

Denise pouts. “Don’t be such a worrywart. She’ll be here for practice. Right?”

“She’ll be here. I know it.” Even if it’s to tell you that she won’t be taking Tankery anymore.

Griselda shrugs at that. “Regardless. Hopefully you have a replacement on hand. I do hope that Josephina pulls through though. God, it feels like we’re talking like she’s dead or some shit.” She shakes her head, going back to her clipboard. “Listen, Elodie. Today’s practice ain’t gonna be practicals. We’re going to be studying Camp Gagetown and Meryl Hoffmeister. We gotta formulate a plan on how to take her down, alright?”

“Understood,” you say. “I really just assumed eliminate Meryl, her team falls like dominoes right?”

“Not as simple as you might think,” says Griselda. “Remember, Meryl wiped an entire team by herself once. And she’s consistently a top kills leader alongside Iris and yourself it seems. By my estimates, Meryl might actually be harder to put down if you face her as a group and she’s alone.” You stare at her, confused. “I know, even I’m confused by that. But we’ll settle that once we get to the classroom, alright?”

You nod. “Alright. Anything you need from me?”

“Not right now,” says Griselda. “Just relax I guess. Though, word to the wise.” Griselda leans close to whisper to you. “Keep your tank clean. Judges hate tanks that aren’t properly taken care of.” Yeah. You’d hate having to inspect something that clearly isn’t being given the love it deserves. You shudder at the thought of how boys maintain their planes. They’re probably like pigsties.

Regardless, what do you want to do now?

Well, you may as well get started on washing up the tank a bit. You change out into your PT gear and grab a sponge, a bucket of water, and some soap. Time to get cracking. You’ll start with the wheels first and then work your way to the top. Simple, methodical, precise. You’ve done plenty of cleaning like this back at home with your Dad’s car not to mention you’ve also done car washes for spare money too.

You sigh. You don’t really miss those days. Heck, by the time you get out of LGA, you’ll probably have a good college lined up. You’ll have a decent job out of college too. You won’t need to wash cars. You’ll hire someone to do it for you! That’ll be the life.

Tough to think back on it though still. As you wash, your hands start getting soaked. You absentmindedly wipe it on your shirt and shorts, getting them wet.

Wet t-shirt. Would Jock like a picture of this? You frown. He probably would. You do have pictures of him getting scrappy in a baseball game. Maybe something tasteful… NO. No. Absolutely not. Suppress those thoughts. You will not do anything lewd. Especially not in a shirt that’s almost exposing your bra underneath. God.

You still snap a picture. Maybe later. As you examine the picture though, you notice you have a shadow casting over you. What the-… You turn around. You gasp.

“Josephina?”

Standing before you right now was Josephina.

And her mom.

Misses deGrasse says, “I heard you had practice today. I wanted to see what’s what.”

Josephina doesn’t look particularly happy. But she doesn’t seem particularly sad either. She just seems worried. Did she get another chance or something? You smile as best as you can. “Well. Today we actually have lecture. We’re going to be studying our opponent for our division game against Camp Gagetown. But I’m sure we can arrange something.”

“That’s fine,” she says. “I can sit in.” You tilt your head, squinting a little. Eh? She steps past and looks around the hangar. That gives you some time to talk to Josephina.

She says to you, “I’ve been begging and pleading on my knees to make her give the team a second chance! I feel like such a loon!” Josephina tugs on her hair, groaning in frustration. “Augh, she’s going to make everyone feel so uncomfortable!”

“Relax,” you say. “We’ve had worse days. Believe me. At least she’s giving this a second chance. That should give you something to work with, right?”

Josephina sighs. “Oui, I suppose. But is she really going to sit through lecture? Lecture is boring, no offense.”

“Lecture isn’t boring!” you say indignantly. How dare she call one of the more exciting parts of Tankery boring! The study of strategy and the meta around Tankery is one of the most exciting parts about it! Josephina looks away, clearly guilty of the thought that lecture on Tankery is indeed boring.

“I’ll make it entertaining, just watch!” You grin. Josephina looks at you as if she had all of her hopes dashed. “Why are you looking at me like that, I can be entertaining too! I’m hip! I’m… I’m radical!” You flash a peace sign at her. “Yo!”

Josephina blinks. “I’m sure you are.”

What, was that too weak?

Once all the crews started coming by after class, lecture was starting to get underway. Griselda gave you the cliffnotes and it was time to get cracking on the strategy meeting on Camp Gagetown. Everyone was sat down at their desk, with Josephina sitting up front with the rest of your crew. “Alright you goofy goobers,” says Griselda as she walks along the stage next to you. “I want all of you to give Elodie your undivided attention. This information can mean the difference between you sitting in a burning tank waiting for pickup or celebrating LGA’s first NATO division win.” She pats your shoulder. “Ellie. When you’re ready.”

You grin. “What’s up, y’all!” Everyone stares at you. “It’s your fly girl, Ellie here and I’m gonna drop some of that righteous blessed gospel down your-“ Griselda grabs your shoulder then turns you around.

“What the fuck are you doing?” asks Griselda.

you say, “I’m trying to make the lecture entertaining.”

“What?” Griselda looks back at the confused crowd of crews. Misses deGrasse is way in the back, also confused. “What do you mean entertaining? People think lecture is boring?” She squints. “Didn’t you tell them that it was the most exciting part of Tankery, the strategy?”

“I did,” you say.

“Well listen,” says Griselda. She claps her hands together, pensive. “I’m going to be incredibly honest. The last time I cringed that hard, me and my sister still had a good relationship.” What? You were just trying to use slang to try and connect them. Then again, that slang might be outdated, you did grow up in a pretty ghetto neighborhood.

And you never did actually pick up the working modern slang. But…

Okay, maybe you’re approaching this wrong.

But how do you make lecture entertaining?

“Okay, everyone!” You turn back to the girls, who are still pretty confused by your sudden and miserable attempt to relate to them. “Here’s what we’re going to do! Uuuuhhhh…” You blank out. Think of something. Think of something. You look down at your papers.

Idea! You grab the paper and crumble it up into a ball. “Ingrid!” Ingrid snaps out of her slumber. Wait, was she sleeping? Ah forget it! You toss the paper ball to her. “Ingrid will be our Meryl Hoffmeister!”

“Excuse me?” Ingrid blinks.

You point to Ingrid. “Ingrid will toss paper balls and anything softly ball shaped at people! Anyone who is hit has to lie down and is out. And it is your job to tackle Ingrid to the ground for no longer and no less than five seconds.” Everyone looks down at Ingrid. “First one to do it gets to leave early.”

Ingrid looks at you. “Okay, I know I-“

“GET HER!” screams Serafina. Everyone jumps out of their chairs to rush at Ingrid. Ingrid responds immediately smacking the paper ball into Winona’s face.

“AH! TRAITOR!” screams Winona, flopping onto her back. “Oh well.” She pulls out her phone and starts returning texts. Ingrid runs around the lecture hall, grabbing paper and notebooks to create ammunition as she starts pitching and lobbing paper balls at people.

“Ah! That one went into my eye!” Jane Fogerty falls down for the count.

“Come back here! Just because you’re good at baseball doesn’t mean you’re good at running away!” Serina shouts. Ingrid climbs onto her desks and chairs as she works to avoid everyone.

What you’re hoping is that the girls try and figure out how to take one person down as a group. Pure numbers isn’t going to help anything, especially against someone who can make skilled shots like Ingrid. Ingrid pitches another ball, smacking Serafina in the head. Their own weight of numbers is actually working against them because everytime they have Ingrid backed into a corner, she manages to wriggle out by taking advantage of their sheer mass. Everyone in one place at once isn’t very flexible.

Ingrid laughs a little, sweating profuse. “I feel like Jackie Robinson right now actually!” She slides underneath a desk then crawls to the other side of the lecture hall.

Griselda folds her arms. “What a fine mess you’re making.”

“It’s all to teach a lesson, trust me,” you say. You grab the podium and watch as Ingrid keeps on avoiding the onrushing tide of girls. “Girls!” you shout. “She’s just one girl! You can do it!”

“She’s slippery though!” yells Regina.

Benny shouts, “Dalia, I got an idea!” The Automotive Club and the Automotive Fan Club all get together and start plotting. Huh, weird to see them working together. But after a few seconds, they break the huddle and begin their dastardly plan. Dalia’s fan club runs at Ingrid, herding her one way. Benny’s Automotive Club moves to intercept from the other side. Ah, they’re getting it now! Ingrid stops in place, trying to go around the side. But she’s immediately intercepted by Benny. Dalia as well tackles Ingrid down, and the rest of the clubs dogpile on top of them.

“We got the bitch!” screams Dalia. “We got her!”

“Alright, alright, get off!” you order. The disappointed crews all step away, grumbling while Dalia and Benny get up and give each other a fistbump of respect. Ingrid lies there, stunned and dazed out of her mind. “You okay, Ingrid?”

“Benny, did anyone ever tell you you smell like motor oil?” she asks. She’s alright.

Dalia and Benny grin, looking to you. “So do we get to go early?”

“Not before you tell me what you learned,” you say. “See, you didn’t have much success chasing her around all at once like that. Especially with people breaking off to grab her one at a time. Buuuut…”

Dalia taps one of her fingers, thinking on it. “We put our heads together and actually used our superior numbers effectively?” You tilt your head.

Benny says, “Meryl’s just one person so if we do engage her, we shouldn’t engage her with just numbers alone. We have to have a game plan to divide her attention and thus attack her from multiple angles. She only has one gun and therefore she can only attack one person at a time!”

You smile. “Okay, you two can leave.” They pump their fists, grabbing their things. “Your crews stay though.” Both clubs groan in frustration.

Benny punches Dalia in the arm playfully. “Come on, whitey. I’ll grab you a soda and we can talk shit about the Bentley Continental.”

“I still say it’s an ugly car,” says Dalia. The two grab their things and head out of the room.

Everyone gets back to their desks, giggling and laughing at each other at their performances. “Alright, everyone.” You grab the podium again. “That’s essentially our strategy for facing Meryl Hoffmeister. She is an ace with quite the deadeye. But that’s not going to help her if we put our heads together and think like a team.” You tap your head. “Remember that. This is your biggest weapon when you’re in a tank. Even a T-70 can take on a Tiger if its smart enough.” You pat your papers. “Let’s begin.”

You go over the biggest assets and team composition of Camp Gagetown. They have a relatively uninspired roster of Grizzly tanks along with some lighter Stuart tanks and a Skink for some reason. And despite Meryl’s best efforts, they simply aren’t a very well-coordinated team. At least on paper that is. A whole tournament with Meryl carrying them, they’re bound to pick up a few tricks here and there.

Serina raises her hand. “Meryl doesn’t like to go alone does she?”

“Judging from footage.” You motion to the screen behind you, showing past tournament matches this year where indeed what Serina asks is true. “She’s usually escorted by two other Grizzly tanks. If not more in fact. She’s confident but not that confident.”

Regina leans back in her seat, taking a few notes. “Plus, with that 17 pounder, she outranges most of our mediums. If we’re fighting on flat terrain, she’s definitely going to wipe us out unless we bring our bring guns to bear.”

Elyse asks, “Ellie. If we do face Meryl in the field, I know we decided on the whole take advantage of numbers smartly thing but… what’s the best way to go about it?”

> Rush her. Her primary advantage is range. If you close the distance fast enough, that 17 pounder is going to hurt her in close quarters.
> Keep away and circle her. She can only track one target at a time. And if you space things properly, ricocheting shots won’t help her.
> Avoid her entirely. You don’t want to risk having your team wiped out.

Use a two pronged approach, with our heavies (the preponderance of 88, 90 and other large calibre, long range guns in our team means we can definitely hold our own in a slugging match with her) or TDs engaging and fixing her long enough for a faster team of mediums/lights to close in and start a brawl, preferably in tight quarters where her long barrel will prove a liability.

This. Maybe detail a few tanks to guard against flanking from the rest of the team

“We’ll employ a two pronged approach with our heavies and our mediums. The heavy tanks will slug it out with Meryl while the lights and mediums close the distance. If we catch her like that, she’ll need to choose between slugging with one or brawling with the other. And Meryl has the disadvantage when it comes to brawling. That sound fair?” Elyse nods, writing that down. “Of course that requires good circumstances. We can’t rely on our heavies to be there all the time for us.”

“Do we know the match locale?” asks Serafina.

“Not yet.” You look at Griselda.

Griselda says, “Match locale will be decided the day before the match. Because the wild cards are first, we’ll have at least a day or two to prepare and relax a little.” She checks her watch. “It’s 8 O’Clock now so we’ll dismiss the class. Everyone get some dinner in. Friday, I want everyone so I can give you all a final briefing. After that, the weekend is all yours. Now get.” Everyone stands up happily. Chatting quietly amongst themselves as they file out of the room.

“I’m sure it’ll be a snap,” you say. “Meryl supports her team like a well-made bra.”

“You should know,” Griselda says with a smirk. You roll your eyes. “Listen, get yourself some rest. I want my XO in top shape for the games. Alright?” You nod. She starts stepping off the stage. “And no funny business with Jeep Jockey either! I don’t want you getting horny when you need you most!” You give her the finger in response. Ugh. She giggles as she jogs out of the lecture hall.

Josephina hurries up to the stage and looks up at you. “You think my Mom was into it?” she asks.

You kneel down to her. “Honestly, I think if she didn’t think we were a bunch of numbskulls before, she’ll definitely think that now.” Josephina frowns, not satisfied. You look back to see Misses deGrasse waiting at the door, looking at you two. Winona, Ingrid, and Stack also come over too, curious. “You want to talk with her?”

Josephina twiddles her thumbs. “I don’t know. Can you come with me?”

> “Sure.”
> “This is a family matter. You should try it yourself.”

>“Sure.”

Her mom seems like the sort to make it clear if she wants to talk to her daughter alone so we may as well.
>>
> “Sure.”

You walk up to Misses deGrasse with Josephina. She looks down at the two of you, smiling. “That was an interesting lecture.” She folds her arms. “Your girls are quite the goofy goobers.” Augh. Even she knows. “But I can understand wanting to make lecture exciting. You have to stimulate the mind sometimes to get them to learn. Do you do that often?”

“As much as we can, given that we’re close to the finals,” you explain. “Lectures like these are for formulating strategy. But practices are for actual practical learning. We gotta get both in if we want to be a balanced team after all.”

Misses deGrasse nods, quiet. Even you’re kind of nervous. What’s she thinking? “Well. Tell you what, it’s late but…” She checks her watch, then looks over at Josephina. “Josephina. Tomorrow, once you get off from work.” Josephina blinks, looking at her Mom. “Maybe you could take me for a ride in your tank.” Josephina’s eyes immediately light up. “I hear it’s different from being in a helicopter so I might as well give it a looksee. Alright?”

Josephina nods. “Oui! Merci beaucoup!” Misses deGrasse smiles lightly, then looks to you.

“I hope she doesn’t drive like a maniac.” With that, she turns around and leaves.

Josephina bounces on her feet, squealing in joy as she hugs you. “Oooh, she’s interested, she’s interested!”

You hug her back, patting her back. “What did you say to her?”

Josephina lets go, looking to you. “I told her how important this was to me! How important you all were to me! And that if I were to stop taking Tankery, I’d never forgive myself! Not after how far we’ve come!” She grins. “I think it worked! Don’t you?”

The truth pays off.

We should be ready to give her the full experience, as commander and gunner with the crew in place so she can see the teamwork inside the tanks.

“I know it worked.” You slap her arm, grinning. “Tomorrow we gotta give her the full experience. Let her see what riding around in a tank is really like. Okay?” Josephina nods quickly, understanding. “We’re going be on our best behavior! And we’re going to show her that your time and efforts aren’t being wasted here!”

“Oui!” She pumps her fist, now beaming like the sun itself. “Don’t worry, Elodie! I will do my best! We will win my mother’s heart!” She starts bouncing in place again. “Oooh, I am so excited! I have to go tell Dad! He’ll be excited too!” She gaps. “He’ll want to come too! He’ll love it!” She immediately runs out of the lecture hall, squealing and jumping for joy.

Winona steps up to you. “She seems excited.”

“Mmm.” Stack folds her arms, frowning a little. “Are we gonna have to stuff her parents into our tank? It was hard enough getting Josephina in there.”

“We’ll make it work,” you say. “Trust me. For now, girls.” You point to Josephina as she shadowboxes the air as she leaves. “We got a smile to protect.”

Stack grins, smacking her fist into her palm. “I’m great at that.”

Trust us, Josephina. We’ll have your Mom begging to keep you in Tankery yet.

Gonna be honest, it's gonna be a very awful month in general cuz I gotta deal with having extra work on my plate until we get the new person in.
