Synopsis
"A Dark Fantasy Quest" is a dark fantasy set in a OC universe and follows your story as you pilot the young rogue Kae. After living most, if not all, your life in the woods you are forced to rejoin society out of desperation. Join Kae as she navigates and learns about the world around her, makes new friends, and over comes (or doesn’t) what ever obstacles the unforgiving world throws at her.
"A Dark Fantasy Quest" offers a sandbox free roam experience, an organic world filled with characters, a dark ominous narrative, original illustrations, a complex and rewarding leveling /combat system, and a guarantee to see the quest to an organic end. As you explore the world remember that time moves with you, it is not at all advisable or possible to involve yourself in every plot line, character, and hook within a chapter. Lastly, remember to watch your back, as death may be closer to you then your shirt.

>Schedule?
I update every 1-4 days, depending on how busy I am with school work/life/etc. On holidays I may update everyday, on exam crunch time I may not at all. This is not a quest that you have to show up on time for, drop in every day or two and you wont miss anything. Lastly, I will use the same thread until page nine / ten.
>Thready Update Prognosis:
Updated every Alternating day (48 hours)

>Rules?
-Prompts that are more in depth have a better chance of succeeding. Example: you have a better chance of success if you provide an argument as to why the monster shouldn't eat you then if you simply say "convince him not to eat you".
-Prompts have to make sense in continuity to the story. Example: characters who are established pacifists wont start murdering randomly for exp.
-minimal meta/power gaming
-minimal backpedaling

A tugging feeling... Its as if your soul is being pulled out of your body and all you can do is follow along not to lose it. Keeping your head low the pull drags you up the stairs and upwards toward the battlements. You know that you’re heading the same way Jackson did but you DONT want to see him. You don’t want him to see YOU. It is true that Jackson could have killed you if he wanted, you may have nothing to truly fear... But the wounds are too fresh, you can feel the imprints of his hands around your neck. As you recall how the life was draining from your body, the pain in your lungs as strugled for air, the fear as your eyes rolled back into your head, and worst of all, you recall how your back arched as he squeezed down, how your hips moved into his while he was ontop of you, the tingling sensation you felt through out your body... You recall that you maybe, sorta, possibly liked it; and that terrifies you.

You don’t know yourself anymore, woo is this person that you are becoming? You suddenly recall the face of the man you eviscerated and collapse against the railing before almost vomiting over the side. You dry heave again and again as your body tries to expel the evil from within itself; nothing comes out. There isn’t enough air down here, and you need air. So you once again head for higher ground. With great haste you run more from yourself then anything else. When you reach the top again your tired body trips over itself and you sprawl over the fortifications. Finally you can breath, up here you don’t feel so trapped. Looking out into the endless golden fields and the starry night sky you finally manage to find some small peace. If you can just get out there everything will work out, if you can just surmount these walls... you will be free. Looking around yourself, you luckily don’t spot Jackson. Even though you are sure he was here. Instead, you spot a guard who seems to be slowly approaching you from a distance away. You have nothing to fear from this man, surely, he has no reason to suspect anything. As you wait for him the only thing to do is occupy yourself by looking up at the sky, if you flee now it will look suspicious; you don’t want to look suspicious. As you stare into the stars, you start to feel dread, in your mind the stars twist and twirl as the invisible hand of god reaches down to pluck you up. You want to look away but cant, from one horror to the next this nightmare seems to never end.
>>
When the guard finally reaches you, he interrupts your trance by greeting you warmly. You look at him then back up to the sky. The feeling of terror is gone, the stars look like they have always looked.
Guard:”Hey, you're that woman who was teaching Nathalie how to shoot a bow! You're really something, never seen a woman shoot so many bullzeyes in my life. ”
He is over familiar, you wish he would leave you alone. The last thing you need is to explode all over him too.
Kae:”T-thanks, I was just doing what felt natural...”
Guard:”So uh, I suppose you are looking for Ser Stonewalls?”
you freeze up hearing the name
Guard:”He was up here not long ago, seemed very agitated. And that’s putting it mildly”
Kae:”Oh? What was he doing? Where is he now?”
Guard:”Well, first he paced around that section of wall over there” he points his finger one way ”then he did the craziest thing, he put his arms around that bit of fortification and attempted to pull it out of the wall itself! Honestly? I thought he would succeed for sure.” he looks to see your reaction, you don’t look surprised ”WELL, after he gave that up, he pulled his helmet off and threw it over yonder” he points to the wheat fields. I thought maybe he regretted doing that because he started slamming his fists into the palisade before storming off to the gatehouse. Planning to go after him?
Kae:”And if I was... How would I leave this fort?”
Guard:”The same way he did, the gatehouse. Its the only way in or out I think. I hope.”
You thank the man before he resumes his patrol, but before he leaves he offers a last bit of advice:
Guard:”If you’re really going to go after him make sure to talk to the nightwatch captain. Its dangerous out there at night.”
>>
You decide you need to just walk for a while, more air to clear your head. You don’t look at the sky but at your feet and the surrounding landscape. Every now and then some soldiers would intercept your path and attempt to speak with you, it seems like they all know who you are. You made quite the splash getting paraded around with Jackson and Nathalie. You keep polite, but you don’t have time for them. You dont have time for anyone put yourself right now. From up on the battlements you can see far into the landscape, just farms and farms then green grassland beyond them. Over one way you see a forest in the distance, you recall being told that a Loki lookalike went in that direction in possible per suite of some great stag. There are three roads that lead in and out of the town, one would take you back to Wilstown, every other direction goes god knows where. You even see a few places on the wall that you may be able to scale down and leave undetected in the night, but it would be dangerous.

When you complete your circle of the perimeter and return back to where you started, it suddenly dawns on you how suspicious that man you passed in the hallways looked. He didn’t seems like one of the soldiers at all... Your fear rapidly starts to shift from yourself to Nathalie. “what if...” No, you don’t like it at all. Forgetting Jackson and your own self preservation you speed back down the stairs and towards the room you believed to be Nathalie's. Still no guards... As you stand in front of the door your fear starts to reach a tipping point. How can you even be sure this is Nathalie's room? If you knock and wake Nathalie up, will she realize you are escaping in the night? You don’t want anyone to stop you... The other option is to simply enter without knocking.

>what do?
>Keep in mind our ultimate goal is to escape the fortress.
>>
>>2688215
Enter without knocking. It's very likely that Mr. Mystery is an assassin, and that Nathalie is in danger. Our ultimate goal may be to escape the fortress, but I think Kae has enough of a moral compass to want to intervene and protect her friend Nathalie. And because Kae has a selfish side too, it's worth nothing that if we're able to save Nathalie from an assassination attempt, it might go a little ways towards redeeming us in Jackson's eyes as well.

Knocking would be a bad idea because we'd lose the element of surprise, and as a rogue, we can't really afford that. And if it turns out that Nathalie's safe and the assassin is going for someone else, Nathalie would still probably forgive us.
>>
>>2688215
Don't knock
>>
>>2688215
Yeah, just enter. Not knocking might break decorum but we can easily explain that away if it's somehow not an assassin and Nathalie shouldn't hold it against us.

Damn, things really went tits-up while I was busy with life this week. Well, nothing to do but keep on keeping on!
>>
>>2688215

Enter without knocking, very sneaky like.
put our head inside and check if we see anyone, if we don't we can go out and search for the guy, if he plans to do something bad to this nice people we can't just leave them behind
>>
Listen first, then sneak in.

>Jackson's reaction

Do you think he knows what's happening to Kae? He is a seasoned witch hunter after all.
>>
>>2689097
Yeah you know some anon pointed out last thread that Kae had spikes on her back and I don't think that's accidental. What I'm trying to say is, Sojourner is fucking with us right now. Wut happened to Kae??
>>
>>2689097
Jackson is our best chance at getting help but how do we approach him about it after trying to murder-bang him?
He's probably still conflicted with what to do about Kae. If we meet him somehow I have no idea what may happen and that just feeds my morbid curiosity.
>>
>>2688215
Help the Nath! Hopefully it's not a murderassassin, but it's probably a murderassassin. If Nathalie is in danger, Kae can get drop on the assailant.

I'm always opposed to cutting and running, but maybe lurking in the woods for a bit is wise.

It will help us see how he will react. If he doesn't care he will not look, if he is angry he will try and hunt us, if he wants to help he will try and find us.

You place your ear to the door, nothing but silence. A part of you would be happier if you could hear Nathalie screaming. At least that way you would be sure that she was in danger, silence could be anything. You place your hand on the door knob. “its probably locked anyway”, as you turn the handle the door slowly gives way. “I guess not”. Ever so slowly you peek your head into the room, its illuminated by a single candle from a bedside table. There is plenty of furniture in the room but nothing to give away who it belongs too specificity. You slip in and carefully close the door behind you. You check every corner, every shadow, and even look under the bed but find no intruder. Yet you don’t relax, its to early to relax. Stepping deeper into the room you make your way to the bed where you find Nathalie fast asleep. She is wearing a pink semi transparent night gown, her blanket covering only her legs. A wide open window continuously blows cold autumn air into the room, causing Nathalie to shiver. I guess you got the right room alright, yet apparent signs of any foul play.

You stand over Nathalie and look down at her sleeping form. So Innocent, so fragile. You noticed the soft curves of her body while you bathed together, but something feels different now. She feels different. You feel different. Your breathing speeds up, why is she sleeping like this? Doesn’t she know she will catch a cold? You reach down to cover her properly with the heavy blanket. Maybe she wanted someone to find her like this? The little minx, she's practically ASKING for it”. You forget about the blanket, and place your arms on the bed for support as you hover over her. Her soft, perky breasts, her delicate skin, her wide hips. You slowly bring your face closer to her chest, and in doing so you catch a glimps of her nipples though the night gown. As your face gets closer and closer your tongue lops out of your mouth. Placing your face between her breast, you breath her in. She smells of flowers, flowers and MEAT. Your tongue touches her skin and your hairs stand on their ends; ecstasy. You run your tongue all the way up to her neck, salt and sweat, her skin is delicious. Nathalie starts to fidget but doesn’t wake.
Nathalie: “mmmmhhh”
It doesn’t matter, you don’t care if you get caught, even if you have to force yourself on her she is going to be yours. You open your maw and place as much of Nathalies neck into your mouth as you can, before grinding your teeth against her skin and reversing your action into small kisses all over her neck. Nathalie arcs her head back giving you more room to work and allowing you to to kiss under her jaw. Slowly working your way to her lips, her perfect lips, her soft pink innocent lips. When you finally reach them you stop yourself to savour the moment. You’re close enough that your defiant tongue reaches across the gap between you, and takes a small lick.

Then you take her blanket in both hands, and throw it over her body completely before stepping back. What were you thinking? What if she woke up? What were you planning on doing anyway? Nathalie may just be your only friend in this world, and you tried to rape her? You put your hand on her night table for support and the other on your head. It hurts, it hurts bad, as if it was punishing you for pulling back. You have to get out of here, it was a mistake to come back. But first, you take a glance at Nathalie's night table: Two candles, the first seems to have been extinguished when it reached its halflife while the other still burns and looks to be fresh. Next to the candles rests a large book, you have seen it before, Nathalie had Jackson read it to her. Under the book there are several letters, and resting next to the book is an unopposed envelope enclosed by red wax. Lastly, you see Nathalies necklace. [rogue] Its very nice, earlier today you had set your sights on it.

>What do?

Mybe leave her a note on how to shot the bow better

Kiss her and put the blanket back on her and then we leave
>>
>>2690456
DO NOT DO THIS

Fucking leave
>>
>>2690417
leave, go back to our room and masturbate furiously, I think Kae need to blow off some steam

we are too sexually tense, it's the second person we try to rape tonight
>>
>>2690495
maybe it's best we don't leave, maybe it's best we don't see anyone tonight. we are not ourselves, we don't want to be wandering about, maybe it's best we just lock ourselves into our room and ride this thing uot

>>2688248
Is there an assassin?
>>
>>2690640
No. For fuck sakes, do not do anything.

We should avoid doing pretty much anything. Jackson might be able to help, but we need to isolate ourselves until he comes to find us.

Woods is probably the best bet, but hiding in our room might work too.
>>
>>2690481
How about no kissing and just draw pics on how she can learn the bow better
>>
>>2690665

Kae is tripping balls right now. If she has the slightest presence of mind she should immediately release she cannot trust herself to do *anything* right now without fucking it up.

Maybe its the curse, maybe we were drugged/poisoned at dinner or last night by Loki and its just kicking in. Possibly its both and one is exacerbating the other. We need to hide out and wait till someone who can help, helps or it passes and we can seek help ourselves.
>>
>>2690685
*realize
>>
>>2690417
Wake her up.
>>
>>2690417
At this point Kae should think that something is very very wrong with her
Only sensible course of action is to disappear from here, now
>>
>>2690417
Run the hell away and hope we never see another human being because apparently we murderbanghobo now.
>>
>>2690417
Just leave already and don't fucking kiss her. Kaes heart belongs to another.
Kae should be fucking disgusted she did that with Nat.
If Kae gets that close again she should give in and take a huge chunk out of her.

You know, it seems like we're dealing with Jackson's temper, like it's doing its best to escape him and find a new host. I can't be sure that this is what we're actually dealing with. But there's no ignoring the fact that Stonewalls is purposely flinging himself into a highly lethal job again and again, and that our own anger began creeping in after we meet him. This can't be an accident. I imagine he's aware at least broadly of this thing, and wants to rid the world of it in a somewhat productive way.
All else aside, readers should be aware that we've never seen him eat, and he's refused every attempt to give or share food. I sincerely doubt this is a simple fluke, few people can take a weeks walk without some kind of food. It's entirely possible the stew he made at the first meeting was never intended for himself. If nothing else, the man carries something truly unnatural within him.
>>
>>2690495
>>2690507
Kae is much too frightened and distraught to master bait her problems away. She is SICKENED by her recent sexual activity. Also, we decided that we are going to leave and I dont want to backpedal so soon unless you guys come to a consensus about that. As a general rule I dont want my players to worry about having to monitor the thread 24/7 to not have their decisions canceled out a day later.

>>2690665
You can leave a message but drawing takes Kae time and effort, she cant blast out a doodle under heavy duress.

>>2690900
Explain your logic, why do you want to wake her up?

>>2691026
She understands something is wrong defiantly, but she is a semi autistic forest girl. Her ability to comprehend her situation is extremely limited, as intelligent as she is.

NOTE TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO LEAVE: Remember that you are in a guarded fortress, what is the plan of escape? We can always make a break for the gatehouse but the gates are most defiantly closed.

Once outside, we can discus where to go after that.
>>
>>2691201
Because she's our friend, she'll surely help us.
>>
>>2691201
Uhh maybe use rope to get outside thru a window? We have rope, right? I dont remember
If we can't do that we should just try to leave through the gate, maybe they'll let us past. Or not, we will see
>>
>>2691201
We're already have a way out of the hortress: say that we're looking for Jackson, and the guard will let us out.
>>
>>2691260
Woah shit good idea. Lets take it
>>
>>2691201
>when my cellphone auto corrects definitely to defiantly.

Just kill me
>>
>>2690417
>>2691201

We go now. NOW!
We clearly can't be trusted around others.

Leave through the gatehouse. If what the guard said was true we can ask the gate guards where Jack went and when they tell us he is outside we tell them we would like to go after him. And presto: we're out.

If that fails we go back to our room and tie some bedsheets and rope, if we have any, together to descend safely down from our window.
>>
>>2691379
That is if our window would lead to the outside of the fort. Otherwise that would be a huge waste of time and we would have gotten nowhere.
>>
>>2691201
Ok i would like to leave her a note about bow manship

Put the blanket back on her and close her wendow.
Time to leave

At least out of her room
>>
>>2691517
where the fuck are we gonna find the time to write down all we know about bowmanship. No time for that
>>
>>2691601
Dont need to wright down everything just some helpfully tips.... (just thr tip)
>>
ok, if you guys are bent on leaving, we should go hunt outside, but away from the forest of the Great Stag hunt, there are many people there and most importantly, Loki is there, that rapist is the last person we want to meet in this state, this would fuck up Kae's mind for good.

We go on the opposite direction of that and try to find sone animals to kill and skin to get our mind out of all this.

To leave we simply talk with the gatekeeper
>>
>>2691728
Not wanting to rape loki
Or shoot him and pretend we missed a shot at the stag
>>
>>2691201
I'd just ask the gatekeeper if we can go. He says no, THEN we start playing the rogue. Ideally we don't piss of a fort fill of soldiers, yeah?
As for that, we need someone to know that something's wrong with us, so we'd best leave something with a touch more detail before we leave. IE: I hurt Jackson, and can't remember it at all. I'm scared... Please tell him I'm sorry, i don't trust myself around anyone right now. I need some time to myself. Sorry Nathalie, i can't take you with. If i hurt you like i hurt Jackson... Anyway, this is goodbye for now. Don't let your dad keep you from your bow, okay?
-Kae

It's probably a little more autistic than it needs to be, but Kae does have autism, yeah? I just think it's better to be honest now, cuz if we wait too long, it could get properly bad.
>>
>>2691822
No, I don't want to rape loki, I don't want to have anything to do with him while we are like this because we can't trust Kae's judgement.

I want to eventually kill him, but now is not the time
>>
>>2690409
>Molesting sleeping girls
Sounds like someone else we know, lmao.

Leave a note for Nathalie, something simple like Kae + Nat = Best Friends. And that Kae hasn't forgotten about the favor and will return in a few days? Don't see a reason to wake her up now, since it would just alarm her and things might get messy.

Leaving through the gate house is the simplest way possible.
>>
>>2691822

You should leave, you should leave now, you should definitely put distance between you and your friend Nathalie. Before you do something that you will regret forever. But you don’t, a continuous stream of little reasons why you should stay just a little bit longer barrage your mind. “I Should close the window before I leave, Nathalie may get cold”... “No open the window Nathalie may get too hot”, “now lets check her room another ten times to make sure that no one is hiding here”, “maybe I should reopen that window”, “Nathalie still needs some help with her bow maybe I should write her a ten page essay of tips and tricks”... “Maybe it wouldn’t be such a big deal if I woke her up, talked to her, spent some more time with her?” You rub your hands together nervously as you pace around her room. You go close her window again. Its been so long since you last ate... Not that you would eat Nathalie! Who suggested that what? What a crazy, unbelievable, ungodly, curious thing to suggest haha. You just want to, maybe just, smell her again. Lick her again. Explore her insides. Your heart races so fast you can feel it in your ears. This is insane, you have to leave! Now! But first lets open that window it really was better opened. Did you check her closet? Lets check her closet. Your nervous hand rubbing upgrades to nervous clawing at your own arms and around your neck. You itch, it itches everywhere. “Ill just, ill just kiss her goodbye, people do that, people who like each other, close friends do that its fine its fine if I did that.” Your legs carry you across the room with remarkable haste, they try to get you to Nathalie before you can come back to your senses. Luckily for you, burying Nathalie under her own blanket was a solid tactic, acting as a layer separating her from your insanity. Ultimately, you decide to close her window again instead of gobbling her up. You need something to get your mind off Nathalie, luscious Nathalie, anything will do, anything to make you forget about her thick delicious thighs. So you start to nervously pick through the letters on her table. Its all...
>>
... love letters? Yep, love letters. First drafts, second drafts, rewrites, check lists. They don't seem to indicate who they are meant for. Its all pretty cute, thats Nathalie for you, soft delicate, lovly Nathalie. But the poetry, and they all contain poetry, is pretty bad. Its really bad actually. I guess that explains the poetry book, she must have been using it as a guide. That just makes you even more curious about the sealed envelope. The final copy perhaps? You lift it to the light and see that it indeed has some message in it, but you cant make out what it says. The whole things is a bit funny at first, but then it makes you sad. Nathalie really is just a kid, she isn’t “innocent” shes just, “innocent”. Was it really this hard for you to decide not to continue molesting her while she slept? Was it really that hard not to be Loki? You pull out some paper from your bag and write down a few words for her: Nathalie, thank you for being my friend. I fucked up really bad, please don't hate me. . Placing it down beside her desk you blow out her candle and head out of her room.

Leaving isn’t as easy as it sounds, the further you get from Nathalie the more your mind trys to put up mental barriers. But these morbid, depraved, feelings of lust are no longer enough, they are no longer a match for your feelings of shame and guilt. You’re absolutely sick, and you wont entertain your desires any longer.

Your stomach growls a complaint.

You close the door to Nathalies room and find yourself in a heavy daze and sweating profusely. Yet no time to stand still, you hear guards coming so you dart to the end of the hall and hide. As they enter the the hallway you get a small earful of their conversation:
Guard 1: “By the Father, those idiots didn’t wait for us to relieve them AGAIN.”
Guard 2: “Im sure its fine, maybe we just missed them.”
Guard 1: “No, its not fine. They are supposed to wait for us, little Nathalie is in one of these rooms. Im reporting them in the morning, this is the last straw”
Guard 2: “C'mon nothing, ever happens here. Don't be that guy.”
Guard 1: “How do you think that this is ok? Maybe I shou...”
Guard 2: “Keep your voice down, the real trouble will happen if we wake everyone up”
They continue whispering at each other and you cant hear anything else.

Taking this as a sign to get going, you continue back towards the kitchen. Through your dazed mind comes an epiphany, and with it, clarity. “Loki... he must have poisoned me last night. Of course that explains everything” this is all HIS fault. None of this was you, obviously, he must have placed something in your drinks. The hate swells. He did all this just to cop a feel? That bastard, you’re going to skin him. Everything is his fault, he destroyed the entire new world you have built for yourself. Going down the stairs and leaving through the kitchen. You of course find it empty. [Rogue] You give it a quick raid as you pass through it [+3 Rations]. Knowing that you have nothing to fear from the guards you head right towards the gatehouse. Again, some soldiers stop to talk with you, but let you pass when they identify who you are. You do your best to contain your anger, but you can see on their faces that it shows.

Eventually you get to the Gatehouse. Approaching the soldiers and introducing yourself, you ask to be let out to go after Jackson. They seem a bit reluctant to let you leave without a go ahead from the night watch captain but eventually relent. They have no authority over you and you are insistent on leaving immediately.

Everyone we dont want to run into at the moment is to the north, so lets head East/Northeast. No road means no people.

Not that we are not running away completely, lets find a spot where we can hide out for a couple days.

>Additionally: [rogue] Did you take anything from Nathalie's room?

No, Kae should have a pretty good grasp of property laws by now.
>>
>>2695017
North toward the forest I suppose, better to go back to an environment we know best.
>>
>>2695017
to the forest we go
And I dont think theres anything in natalie's room that we would want

Let's go east because why not.
Take nothing from Natalie

ANYWHERE exept north, we don't want to run into Loki, please guys, stop trying to take us there.

Also

Let,s find a good place to rest and ride this out
>>
>>2695017
>To the east is ????
>>
>>2695201
This is actually better.

No roads no people, that's what we want.

We can maybe hunt a small animal to get our minds off of things and find a nice shelter to ride this out
>>
>>2695017
>To the north is the only known forest, its half a days walk
We are at home in the woods.
Even if we did find Loki , we'd be in our element.

Just want to be away from the castle for a while .

We really left shit notes though , if anything bad happens it's gonna be cause of that.

I wonder if we could tame a pet for kae
>>
>>2695700
>A pet
We'll just end up eating it.

Face it anon, we're probably cursed forever because some faggots decided to steal witch shorts or something.

>>
>>2695968
You guys are going for the option that is most likely going to result in Kae doing something she will deeply regret, either fucking or killing Loki is going to leave her a wreck since she is not herself. And we won't even have a choise since if we see him the wulfen spirit will take over and we will only be able to watch and not decide a thing. I'm just trying to reason with you guys here.

Kae is basically fucked at this point. Unless some Deus Ex Machina type thing happens and she's magically freed from the master's influence, it's only going to get more grimderp. I just hope the end is appropriately gruesome/sexy/both.

I just want to remind ya'll that at the end of 7 days we can possibly meet with that dude from the inn who knows shit about the Occult and who seems friendly to Kae, so that no matter what choice we end up with I think we should return to the area. This

And don't go too far, we may not know it but we don't want to be away from Jackson
>>
>>2695017
We took nothing physical from Nathalie's room, just a deeper understanding of the girl, and a deeper sense of attachment, something that's kind of scary...

As for what we do, just head out into the fields. Lay down somewhere so you can't see the fort anymore, think about things for a while. Wonder if wilstown is unfucking itself yet. Wonder if Jackson will stumble on us out here. Glumly realize the closest forest has Loki in it. Fall asleep under the night sky with a head full of bullshit. Wake up feeling slightly better about everything. Probably because that curse of yours has worked it's magic, and made you completely forget about it. At least until you see Jackson again...
Once we're up, we go look at that wagon we found in the trip here. We bury whatever we find. It's probably stupid, but it's the most cathartic thing i can imagine right now. Besides, Kae needs that human connection right now.
>>
>>2697588
This is not bad too, can support
>>
>>2697588
It's very likely that Kae will just eat whatever she finds in that wagon.
>>
>>2697588

I like this. Lay down in the fields, and just exist for a while

[QM note: I rolled a dice for this one and the “don’t go to the forest” guys won it.]

You head east, up from the battlements you saw its the only direction without a road. Using logic, you are able to deduce: no road = no people. You are partially correct, there isn’t any people but there are still many farms. You do your best to keep out of their gardens at first, but eventually give up and start simply walking through the fields. You walk and walk but there is no end in sight, looking back behind you the fortress doesn’t even seem to be getting smaller. The land is far too flat and the fort rests too high on top of a hill. Yet you haven’t given up, your goal was to put enough distance between yourself and the fort as possible, and by what ever gods exist in this setting you are going to give it everything you got.

You give up soon after. On normal days you could walk through the night no problem, but this isn’t a normal day. You are bruised, beaten, exhausted, and malnourished; the last two weeks have been very rough on you. So in the end, the middle of a wheat field is as far as you go. Your legs thank you for that. You lay down deep in the bushels to hide yourself from the world and the elements. They help protect you from the wind but not the cold night, so you wrap your cloak around yourself like a blanket. It doesn’t help very much, it would be nice if you could start a fire. Unfortunately, that would be extremely dangerous and may give your position away. With nothing left to do you try and close your eyes and get some sleep. But it doesn’t come gently, there is too much to think about. You think about Nathalie, and you hate yourself. You don't know if you can ever forgive yourself, you don’t know if you will ever be comfortable around her again. “Damn it Kae, she was your friend. You’re disgusting, you’re a rapist, you should kill yourself right here”. From one agony to another, “maybe I should let Jackson kill me? Save us all the trouble”. Jackson, oh Jackson, you hurt him deeply. In your flight from the fort you never stopped to realize how deeply you may have cut him. Not just figuratively, but literally, there was quite a lot of blood and the soldier never said Jackson stopped to look at his injuries. You hope where ever he is he's safe and hasn’t bled out or something. You also hope that he is not out hunting you. You also, hope that neither one of you wakes up dead tomorrow. Worst of all you cant even remember what happened in that room. Where you defending yourself? God how everything is fucked, at least it cant get any worse...

It starts to rain
>>
You wake up in the morning from an agonizing sleep, you didn’t dream. You don't seem to dream at all anymore, once upon a time you had vivid dreams. They were the source of your art, your uncle got you a book to draw in. He was afraid that if you didn’t your brain would overload. But ever since you followed Jackson down the rabbit hole you no longer dream, you only have the occasional nightmare. You’re so tired, you want to close your eyes and go back to sleep... But you hear voices. Your mind is too foggy to realize the possible danger so you just listen... farmers, lucky you. Trying to stand up you fall over your own feet. Your left foot is asleep, you must have slept funny on it. Stretching out your leg you feel the blood return to it, eventually you stand up and take a look to see where the sounds are coming from. Two farmers look very surprised to see you. You limp your way over to them.
Farmer: “uuh, hello? Where you sleeping in my fields? Who are you? A traveller?”
he points towards the fortress
Farmer: “The towns that way”
You mumble out your words, half asleep
”Sorry I just couldn’t take another step, im just passing through.”
He looks you over
Farmer: “Are you all right? A young woman shouldn’t be travelling alone”
you assure him you can take care of yourself. He exchanges glances with the other farmer, they are not convinced.
Farmer: “Are you sure? Listen why don’t you wait here for a moment while I get my wife? Maybe you would feel better talking to her?”
You must really look like shit

>what do?
>If you want to go back to the waggon thats a two and a half day trip, so five days if you want to come back
>If you want to continue going east you need to tell me how many days travel you are willing to go, assuming nothing happens on the road.
[I didn’t feel comfortable taking you far without consent, give me a time frame]
>>
>>2703441
continue going east
Mybe we just go around the fort for a few days and end back in it for thr sunday talk?
If not il be down for 1 day going east
>>
>>2703441
I say perhaps spend a short time here with the farmers and ask them what else lies around the immediate area. Particularly if we keep heading East, it'd be nice to know what generally lies in that direction.

We shouldn't stay long though, lest we put them in danger too. Maybe spend a day here at the very most but we should keep moving. Maybe these farmers might know of a wilderness area of sorts that we can survive in for the next few days before heading back to the Town to meet with that Occult guy from the Inn.
>>
>>2703441
The wagon. It has to be the wagon. Weren't you going to be back here for the large man with the coffee? The one person who has tried to give you answers? If you went east, you know you'd just keep going...

Kae has seen dead things before. She lived in the forest, there's nothing for it. Jackson was trying to be kind, but we saw him kill that girl with his bare hands. Well we heard it, but but that's not the point, is it? It's not right to leave someone to suffer their eternal sleep in the cold and rain like we just did (idealist). Besides, we've got too much of our own to bury. Hates and pains and fears... It'll be cathartic, right? Who knows, you might even learn something (bushman)(rogue) about the people who were willing to prey on another person. We're not sure Jackson said anything to the fort about potential bandits, and those listless soldiers would surely like something more interesting than some rumored deer to hunt.

There's something else though, something Kae probably wouldn't realize until she's there. Wilstown and its woods were our home. Maybe... Maybe she'll meet someone coming from there? Maybe someone who can tell her they're doing all right now that the witch is gone. It's good to have hope, yes?
>>
>>2703441
>If you want to go back to the wagon thats a two and a half day trip, so five days if you want to come back
>>
>>2703436
Stay and talk with the farmers wife. If they offer food accept it, ask about the general are.
>>
>>2703441
Stay and talk with the farmers.

Fucks sakes just go back.
We need to talk to Jackson instead of running like a bitch.
>>
Just so that we are clear, going to the wagon and back will cause you to miss the harvest festival by 1 day. Also, the guy who told you to meet him is a persistent character, the idea that you can only talk to him on the day he told you to meet him is wrong.

Sidenote: no one burys body's in this setting, they burn them and scatter the ashes. Even the bushman do this, although Kae wouldn't understand why she has never questioned the significance.
>>
>>2703441
Don't stay, don't talk. All it will lead to is another red text murdercrazy episode.

Just thank the farmer for his concern and go further east until we hit a place we can build a primitive shelter. Don't go too far though, don't miss the meeting with the southerner.
>>
>>2703574
>>2704031
Really? I could have sworn we've only lost two out of the seven days left until the festival begins...
Urgh, if i managed to get it wrong, maybe the wagon isn't the best idea, I'd consider the festival a must-see event. Something cheerful and food-related is a good idea for the lady. On the flip side, I'm not sure how well she'd handle crowds...
>>
>>2704196
By my calculations since it's dawn of the third day a 120 hour trip will bring you back on Sunday night.

Ps: this is NOT a subtle hint trying to discourage you from going back, I'm just trying to get information out.
>>
>>2704260
I guess saying you will miss it by 1 day is wrong since the festival is at noon. I just think in terms of events scedualed at specific days not hours. My bad
>>
So, festival is a must see for you guys?

The farmer continues asking you questions that you attempt to stumble through as you are still half asleep. You just wanted to explain yourself, you were not looking to get into a thing with this man. You try to escape the conversation in a polite way but he isn’t having it. He has already sent his son, to get his wife. You start to step away but he keeps in step with you and is pretty insistent on you waiting. When his wife arrives, she doesn’t seem too happy to find a vagrant. By this point you’re finally fully awake, only to face the same questions you already answered. You’re not sure why you bothered to entertain them, maybe to check on your own sanity. Its impossible to tell how you feel, maybe you are back to your old self, maybe you’re not, there doesn’t seem to be any indicators and you may be putting these people at risk. After some more questions, they seem to finally relax when they accept that you are not in fact another refuge trying to steal the farmers crop or looking for a free handout. You ask some questions of your own too, such as what you may find if you keep heading east. This seems to stump them, as if they have never considered that anything exists at all to the east.
Farmers Wife: “I guess if you go far enough you will eventually hit the No Mans mountains, but I don't think anything is in that direction. Down north is Wilstown to the west is the small village of Hornsbury and to the north is New Greenshire. Beyond here is just flat county waiting to be farmed”.
Good, thats what you wanted to hear, the less people the better. They also allow you to stay and camp on their land if you wish, but to please keep out of the actual land reserved for farming. [Hunter] The farmers wife informs you she has some unwanted intruders that have been destroying her personal garden, and if you were to see yourself to rooting them out she would be very grateful.

Leaving the farmers to their work you set about on your new quest in search of her pests. You look around her garden, and from the look of the nibble marks on her lettuce patch you have an inkling of what the problem may be. Pulling out [1x Ration] you have breakfast while you search for tracks. You don’t find anything useful, since last night's rain must have hidden whatever small tracks the rodents could have left. Being the experienced hunter that you are, you have a pretty good idea where to look.

Scouting towards the edges of the farmland you soon find exactly what you’re looking for. Yup, its rabbits. You have not seen one of these fury critters in over three years, you hoped it wouldn’t be a rabbit, you hate hunting rabbits. Back when you were a little girl your uncle used to entertain you by making shadow puppets in the shape of rabbits, so when the time came to show you how to hunt and gut them you were mortified. Eventually he had to drop the whole idea since you simply REFUSED to have any part in eating them.

Well, nothing left to do but rest here for a little while longer. After, you intend to head deeper east. You considered heading back towards the turned over wagon that passed on the road with Jackson. Maybe give the people, the probable corpses, a proper burning. Unfortunately, there are too many reasons not go back: First, it would take too long to get there then come back, its possible that you may end up late for the harvest festival and you really want to meet Ratko then. The second, is the bandits that you may face on the open plains. [INT] The third, is that if Jackson comes looking for you, he will probably check either the path back to Wilstown or the northern forest first. Your best bet is to hide out here for another day or two, compose yourself. Then maybe try and decide what to do with yourself, one day at a time.

>(Time Skip) How long do you want to stay gone?
>did you convert the rabbit to food?
