<You are Erick Vanders, assistant manager at WalMart Supercenter in Washington DC. Or so you were, until an untimely death saw the end of your normal life. Now, you find yourself trapped, along with several others, in an unforgiving death game orchestrated by an enigmatic black sphere known only as Gantz. Its rules are simple: hunt and kill monsters, aliens, from other worlds before the time limit, or be killed by them. With the promise of a way out, and Gantz's technologically advanced arsenal as your driving force, can you live through the agony of life after death? Or will your mind and body break like the hundreds of others that lived before you?>

You can still feel the pounding of your heart as your vision acclimates to your current surroundings. The door to the hall is in front of you, along with no one else in your immediate vicinity. Granted, you were still laying on your stomach, but it seemed there was still no one here yet. Your breathing is ragged from both the running and the anxiety as they almost betray the stillness of the room as the rest of your body materializes. Alongside it, you feel a cushioning mass below your torso, along with some hard spots poking at your legs beneath. You almost breathe a sigh of relief as you realize that your bag thankfully made it with you.

This game had thrown some horrible circumstances at you, yet the thought of going into one of these missions without your gear sounded downright terrifying. The aliens were deadly enough with your gear on, so you didn't dwell too much on going out there without anything. Though, even if you did miss your gear, you figured that Gantz couldn't stop you from grabbing some of the guns nonetheless. This speculative train of thought is interrupted by a set of voices coming from the door, or rather somewhat loud whispers.

With all of the paranoia in this week, you half thought you imagined those voices. You got up with ease, and headed to open the door to confirm your suspicions. You got as far as turning the handle before you came upon resistance, preventing you from turning it. You definitely hadn't heard just heard voices, and now you know that there were definitely others beside you in here. You went to add both of your hands, when you heard a hushed whisper from the other side of the door.

"Please...Don't open it...", the somewhat panicked voice on the other side, a woman judging by the pitch, "it's still sleeping, just stay still and we'll try to open it slow..."

"What?" you reply, trying to match her whispers, "What's sleeping in here-"

Your voice is betrayed by what you can only describe as an animalistic yawn behind you. The voice on the other end almost whimpers to match it, and your hand leaves the handle as you turn to look at the source of the noise. There is a small shuffle of what you can only assume is fur, as you stare upon the frame of a male lion laying right in front of the Gantz ball. You almost lose your breath as you quickly move the rest of your body against the door, and try to find your footing as it just continues to lay there, and stare you.

Its black, feline eyes are planted right on you, as if trying to scan you over for the most tender part of flesh. All other movement, even in your quickly accelerating heart, began to slow down as you continued your fatal staring contest with this lion. Whether it was waiting for you or you waiting on it, the next move you made would have to be solid.

'Fuck this week man...'

You remember watching Animal Planet as a kid, and all of the documentaries imprinted in your mind always related that predators react to sudden movements. It was a reaction to the fight or flight response, and the necessary adrenaline rush for a hunt and kill. They also noted that male lions were mostly lazy, and let the females do most of their hunting for them. Given your position though, you weren't gonna take any of those chances.

You stood perfectly still, your eyes still transfixed on the lion's own. It blinked when you blinked, and its breath seemed to be one beat lower than yours. It was calm, probably tired even given its almost reclined position on the Gantz ball. You didn't have to read its thoughts for you to know that this thing was probably pretty confident in its ability to kill you right now. So your staredown continued, with the lion licking its chops slighlty as more beads of sweat fell from the head.

Whatever the hell kind of causality or force of the universe compelled the ball to bring in a fucking lion into the room was beyond your understand. It all read like some sort of sick joke or prank on a compilation website. Except, this was real, and you knew that the moment you so much as breathed wrong, this lion would come for your throat. Gantz was probably laughing in that grating robotic voice at you right now, cackling with its alien servos at how sadistically hilarious this little stare-down must be. Only, that the punchline would probably be your blood splattered on the walls.

Yet, when it seemed like it reached the minute mark, you noticed a beam of light erupts from Gantz as it began teleporting a pair of feet, and then legs into the room. The lion's gaze shifted rapidly to the newly developing object in the room, as your own gaze quickly filled with terror. Yukino's small frame materialized facing you, right in the middle of your stare-down. The laser was to her neck when the lion's body shifted to a standing position, its claws poised and scratching against the wooden floor.

"Hey Erick!" Yukino gleamed at you, until she noticed the almost terrified look on your face, "...wait, what's wrong..? Erick, you're-"

The rest of her sentence was interrupted by an earsplitting roar from the lion. It was such a loud roar it almost hurt your head to hear it reverberate in the room. Yukino almost dropped to the floor with hear ears covered, but recovered quickly enough for the lion to take a leaned back stance.

In the split seconds you recover from the roar yourself, you notice the lion's crouch is beginning to shake with what you can only guess is anticipation. Or perhaps it's just building its strength on its legs as it readies a deadly pounce. Yukino faces the lion's crouched stance with a stare of complete fear and shaking legs, as she stands next to motionless in front of it.

A second later, the lion lets out a snarl as its legs propel it towards Yukino's still motionless body. You know what comes next. But you're not going to let it happen so long as you're still alive.

You focus your mind, a swirling, hot motion fleeting inside of your head as you extend your hand out. The will to protect this girl, whom you've taken care of and fought with moving your hand forward to not let her die here.

"Yukino!"

The ringing in your ears from the lion's roar is still hitting you hard, yet you brush away the pain as you feel the lion's feline form in your palm. You're out of practice with this as your sessions with Stheno were put on hiatus, yet you persist with your mind nonetheless. An object in motion is hard to grasp, and so is one putting this much weight but you put your anger against its mass as the lion's movements begin to slow. It doesn't matter how strong of powerful this thing is, you are not letting it touch on hair on Yukino.

Yukino's body stood motionless, her eyes closing to shield herself from what could come next. However, instead of the bone-crushing teeth and flesh tearing claws, she is instead met with an fleeting whine. The lion's body is suspended in front of her, almost weightless as it tries to fruitlessly claw at the air below and in front it if. Its powerful jaws are inches away from Yukino's face as it tries to move itself closer to finish the job.

You don't need to tell Yukino to back away as she does so with a panicked scurry to the door. The lion lets out another whining roar, as it continues to struggle in the air. It is taking all of your mental strength to hold this thing back, but once Yukino is out of the room, you decide on something else.

Flexing more of your psychic muscle, you motion the lion's form to the far end of the room as you let it go flailing. Its form hits the wall, and then the floor with a resounding crack, but doesn't even scuff the room itself. It quickly regains its composure however, roaring in frustration and runs back at you with its claws stretched out. It doesn't make it halfway across the room before you assault it with a barrage of pushes that send it sprawling back again and again.

There is a steady stream of blood from your nose, as you try your best to keep your head steady. You know if this thing senses weakness, it will just strike harder and faster. The strike doesn't come however as after the fifth or so attempt for your throat, the lion's now panting form starts slowly back away from you. Your own panting seems to match it, as the mental exhaustion is wearing you down as well. Your gaze doesn't leave the lion's own however, as it goes to the corner of the room and lays down panting. You let out a slight sigh of relief as you see the Gantz's laser materialize another figure next to you.

"Jesus christ, did you forget your suit Erick-" Chris mockingly exclaims, before his eyes widen with excitement at the lion in the corner, "Holy shit, where did he come from?! Didn't even think Gantz could take animals in here."

As relieved as you are to have another person to help, you were hoping it wouldn't be Chris. Though, given your exhaustion, you might really have a choice.

"Just...", you start, but your head waver as little, "...keep an eye on it. And don't let it try...anything."

"Sure, whatever," Chris replies dismissively, and begins making his way to the lion, "pretty baddass that it took a lion instead of one of those strays I keep seeing around Arlington though. Is it from like a circus or the zoo or -"

The lion roars back a bit and the sound makes Chris flinch slightly. He doesn't take a step back, but you can see the sudden noise unnerved him. His approach becomes a little slower to hopefully keep the lion calm. He makes it as far as the Gantz ball, and then doesn't move another step as he just eyes the lion, and you finally let yourself drop to the floor with a sigh.

"Silvia mentioned something like this," you start, putting a hand on your head, "there was a lion from the National Zoo that got taken into surgery at the GW Hospital. It must have died, and probably gotten shafted in here by Gantz."

"That's some crazy shit," Chris responds, not turning his back to the lion, "sounds about right for Gantz though. I mean, if I was a sadistic black ball, it would be pretty funny to just have a lion in a room full of people and just see what happens next."

You swear you hear a faint chuckle for Chris's voice as he says this, but you ease it off your mind as the creaking of the door reveals Yukino peeking her head out. She calls out for your name and slams you with a hug, though her suits buttons dig into you as she does so. You don't have the energy to return the hug, but you nonetheless try.

"Thank you Erick," she says, finally prying away from you, "I-I got so scared and didn't know what to do. I'm sorry, I just...froze and you almost..."

"It's alright," you reply back, making a pained smile on your face as more drops of blood run down your lips, "we're fine for now, since Chris is going to watch it so it doesn't attack anyone. As for me...I need to get my suit on..."

"Yeah don't do it in here though man," Chris states, again not turning his back to you, "Cause, that would be pretty gay considering the others are going to see your junk."

You don't need to be told that as Yukino helps you up to the hall door. The smear of blood on your face is wiped off as you enter the hall way, your head continuing to throb as you do. The sight of you alone is enough to make the two new faces inside almost scream. You don't wait for an introduction before you tell them that the coast is clear and that you need to get changed.

'Chris can explain it to them...' you think, letting Yukino out to the main room with them, 'Just gotta...keep steady...'

The amount of strain you've put on yourself is daunting to say the least, yet you don't let it get the best you. You steel yourself against the pain and exhaustion of the feat of psychic power you just pulled. Stheno never mentioned just what the exertion of your powers would do to you, but you can probably guess it's not good from all of the blood coming from your nose. Nevertheless, you wipe away any remaining stains and drops on your now dirty shirt. The game has tested you worse than this, but it is taking a heavy toll.

<>

You step out of the hall to see some more familiar bodies line the room. Carol and Dante are setting up the posters on the side wall with some tape and staples, while those two newcomers just look in both curiosity and relative fear. Dante and Kurtis stand next to each other, watching the lion and keeping it from getting up. Though, honestly it would take more than a lion to stop those two with their suits on. Yukino is the first to notice you enter the room, welcoming you back and letting the others know you're there.

"Did you really fight this thing with your mind?" Kurtis states, turning his head to you, "Like, I'll believe a lot of things, but psychic powers are some crazy insane shit man. Though, Yukino's never lied so far."

"He's done crazier things than that," Dante says, putting the last of the tape on his poster, "Erick, tell him about the time you almost squished an alien against a wall with that. And it was the boss as well."

"As much as I would like to reminisce," you reply, trying to wave him off, but more to keep the room a little quieter for your head, "we need to set a priority on being alert to Gantz. Had a really close call today because of it, and I'm not just talking about that lion, so let's try to at least keep our suits with us from Saturday into the Monday."

"Agreed," Carol responds, finishing her poster as well, "also, here you are guys, all the explanation you will need. They'll do a better job of letting you know than us, that's for sure."

The two newcomers approach Carol's posters, and start looking them over. You do the same for a brief glimpse as well. The one on the left is just a big, white and red poster with the words 'Welcome to Gantz' and 'Don't Panic', written through digital letters. The one on the right explains the majority of the rules of the game, starting with 'Yes, you died but you're still alive now,' and following through on some warnings written out with big red letters. You couldn't fault Carol for being thorough on this, as you knew that she and Dante worked their asses off with you and twins to make this.

"So...it's just a game then," the new lady asks, looking over to you, "some fucked up, weird game, with weird rules and weirder people. Umm...who is in charge here...because my boyfriend and I can't stay..."

"Just pay attention," you reply back, heading for the Gantz ball, "I'll all make sense soon enough, don't worry. I'll say this much though, if you had plans for tonight, consider them cancelled."

The lady looks as if she's about the reply until a set of two figures are teleported into the room. You don't have to guess as to who these are as their nearly identical forms complement their shapely bodies. Judging by their expressions however, Silvia and Claire look a little worried as they enter the room. The normal street clothes pretty much clue you in as to what happened.

"Erick!" Silvia starts, looking over to you, "We couldn't find our suits! Please tell me that thing makes more of it because we're legit scared right now!"

"Yeah!", Claire continues, turning to you with equal panic, "We had them in the closet for the longest time and- Holy shit is that a lion?!"

"Yeah, get in line if you want to see it," Chris exclaims, turning his should to Claire, "Though, it's just been sitting there, panting to itself since I got here. Getting a little fucking boring if you ask me."

Claire and Silvia both head over to the lion near Chris and Kurtis. It baffles you on how they just so easily forget something that important for a new thrill that probably isn't really that thrilling. Considering your massive freak out at being suit-less at work, it almost made you feel jealous of their blissful ignorance at times. It didn't last long as another pair of people were teleported in the room not a moment afterwards, though, in a slightly different condition than you'd expect.

For the brief moment you saw them teleport, you saw Tanjeet and Maria holding hands. They pulled away as soon as they noticed you but, you just gave them a smile as they came in. Maria sheepishly brushed her hair at the revelation, but Tanjeet just returned your smile of acknowledgement. Maria's gaze however was pulled away towards the twins as she tossed them a large dufflebag.

"You two left these at my place," Maria states, and the twins turn over to her with overjoyed expressions, "You're lucky Tanjeet found them, considering we were studying together. And...wait, is that lion?"

"It's the same one as the hospital!" Silvia exclaims, opening the dufflebag, "same mane and everything. I thought humans were they only thing Gantz brought in."

"It's a surprise to me as it is to you," you state, looking over to where Chris and Kurtis stand, "well more of a surprise to me, since I had to-"

The laser doesn't wait for you to finish as another body is teleported in. This one being of someone that you hadn't seen in a while. Allie's body is trembling slight, looks a little paler, and her hair is unruly, but she nonetheless turns to you.

"Hey....Erick, what's up?"

"Allie..." you start, and some of the other turn to the two of you, "Welcome back. I don't think many people would have had the balls to do what you did...thank you."

"Hehe, yeah..." she states somberly, her smile betraying her tone, "After the police started their investigation on you...I knew I had to do something to keep them away from you. Honestly, it was the only other way I could really repay you for the trouble I caused back out there."

"I think that is well and repaid now," Carol responds, hurrying to her side, "though, now I think we all owe you something. If Erick had gotten interrogated, then we all would have been in danger as well by association."

"N-no, that's not-" Allie embarrassingly replies, before a foot is stamped from the far side of the room. All eyes are on Kurtis turns with that step towards Allie. His muscular form towers over the girl, his expression as serious as the intent of his steps. Allie almost backs away, as do Carol and the newcomers', but you know his intentions well enough.

"You have helped us out immensely Allie," Kurtis states in a strong confident tone, "don't short change your self on that. The least we can do is keep anymore harm from coming to you, so long as you're willing."

All eyes are expectantly on Allie, except Chris's as he was still watching that lion, waiting for her answer as she was trying to avert her own eyes from Kurtis. No one even noticed Paula as she arrived not a few feet from Allie, but quietly excused herself to your side, no doubt reading the atmosphere. After a few moments more, Allie nodded her head and spoke to Kurtis.

"I-I suppose I need the help," she responded, but then turned to Paula, "but...I am not going back to the station. I was willing to die for your secret, but...I can't return there if it means you two are going to keep getting hurt in my stead."

"That's fine by me," Paula replies, looking relieved, "these idiots were going to try and break you out before you made your big speech anyways. Also, you still owe me that story on how you managed to get out the first time."

"Yeah, that's something for another time," Allie comments, then returns her gaze to Kurtis, "first though, I need to speak to you about something. I think you also have a few things to get off your chest as well, Mr. Yates."

Kurtis just raised an eyebrow to her as Allie motioned him to the hallway. He followed, still looking somewhat confused and leaving the rest of you looking a little confused as well, except for Silvia and Claire. They both bounded after them near the hall, eavesdropping against the door to hear into their conversation. You shook your head at the sight, but realized it was unavoidable with those two.

"She reminds me of you, Erick," Paula states, staring at the door, "brave, and with some insane plan to follow through on. Like two sides of the same coin."

Why would we ever ditch Paula? She is a great gal.
>>

"She said something just like that before we left the room last time," you reply, earning Paula's gaze, "Said that the game was made for people like us, and that we were inseparable in that way. She's a good woman, but...I don't think I would want to be with someone like that."

"One of myself is enough as is," you continue, a smile building on your face, "If I wanted a reminder of who I was, I would just look in a mirror. Besides, I already have you Paula."

A smirk builds on Paula's face to match your smile. She knew where your loyalties were, and so did you. If anything, the question seemed like an afterthought given that you had made up your mind so long ago. Not since you confessed outside of the police station, but the moment she saved you from that explosion and you died to save her as well.

"There was never any doubt big guy," she says, giving you a light peck on the cheek, "now, I should probably get Allie her gear. All of this reminiscing is going to be for nothing if she just ends up dead."

You nod your head and Paula departs to the hallway door, almost startling the twins as she does so. As sappy as it is, you can't help but think on what you would be doing with yourself or the team if she wasn't around. You try not think on all the times she could have died, and all the times she nearly did die, but it also gives you courage to continue forward. It was something you took strength from, and Paula was there to help you when you didn't have enough to go on. Your hopeful line of thinking was shattered the moment you heard a scream from the back of the room followed by a familiar roar.

You turn back to see Chris and Dante holding the lion down by the neck, their suits bulging out with musculature to pin the large beast. Sprawled out on the other side of the ball is one of the newbies, the woman with the headscarf, scurrying away as quickly as she could. Carol was on her to to help, but she just pushed away from her and onto her boyfriend who was trying his best to hold her steady from panicking.

"Steady, damnit," the other newbie says, his spiked hair bristling as he tries to keep his girl steady, "Whatever the fuck is actually happening here, we're not taking part in it. You hear me?!"

"We already told you there's no way out," Carol replies, trying to approach the two of them, "we can explain more if you want, but you have to trust-"

Carol is cut off, almost literally, as the man quickly produces a sharpened knife from the hem of his jeans. Carol instinctively backs away, as he swings it with scary efficiency towards her. He points it threateningly to everyone in the room, while his woman continues to pant in panic in his arms.

"Sorry, but I am not taking anymore chances with strangers," he continues, brandishing the knife, "Now, Let. Us. OUT."

"The exit is that way," you reply, pointing to the hall door, "You can try and unlock it if you want but-"

"You don't think we tried that already?!", the man shouts, earning a snarl from the lion and an odd yelp from Chris, "That damn thing doesn't open from the inside! And given how much you all claim to know, I think you all have something to do with it!"

"We're not the one trapping you in here," Tanjeet replies back, still at arm's length from the knife, "Hell, we're just as trapped as you two are! And why would we do that with a lion here along with us?"

"Back off!" the man swings the knife once more, almost trying to swat at Tanjeet, "Nothing in this night is making any damn sense, but I don't have any reason to trust any of you! So just-."

"Calm down already," you state in a stone-like voice, trying to slowly approach him, "We're on the same side here and you'll soon understand. Now, tell me, how did you die?"

"What...?", the man says, continuing to hold onto his woman, but you can see he's slowly stepping back as you get closer, "N-No, don't come any closer damnit! I-I'm not going to hold back just because you're unarmed!"

"Just put the knife down," you continue, your footsteps matching his as the distance closes between you two, "We don't want to harm you, or your girl, we just want to talk. Like my friend said, we're all in the same situation, so please-"

"I SAID BACK OFF!" the man says, taking a wide swing at you. There is a scream from Yukino and Carol, and you brace yourself for the pain. Given your range, it is too close to dodge, but oddly enough, you don't feel the slash on your skin. There is no cut, no tear on your suit or spray of blood from your chest. In fact, you don't feel anything as the blade the knife just stops on that part of your suit.

"W-what...the fu-", is all the man can manage before the hallway door erupts with Paula charging right out towards the man. Her suit is partially activated as she easily disarms and tackles him to the floor. His woman almost falls to the floor in the confusion, but she's quickly pinned to the ground as well as Kurtis arrives and does a similar take-down on her. They try to struggle underneath, but you know it's pointless against the suits' strength.

"Stupidest decision of your life," Paula says, holding the groaning man beneath her, "you don't want trust us, fine, it's you and your lady's funeral. But you are not going to hold Erick accountable for it."

"Are you alright?" Allie asks, and you answer her with a nod, "We heard the commotion but, we were changing. Is...that his knife?"

Allie picks it up, and you notice that the blade is bent. Almost as if someone had folded part of the edge of the blade and it just barely stayed on. The Maria and Tanjeet come to look at it, and the to the place where your were struck. Indeed, there is no cut or even an imprint of the blade hitting you. This is cut off, the moment you all hear a familiar jingle.

Whatever immediate conflict or action was in the room seems to stop the moment that odd tune arrives on Gantz. The newcomers stop their struggling for a few moments as the ball continues its song, as if entranced by the odd melody. Even that lion seems to have calmed down as well, with Chris and Dante just letting it go as they head for the front of the ball with the rest of you. You barely notice this, as you are equally paying attention to the new targets on Gantz's screen, and their very familiar appearance.

"Don't they work at the museum?", Yukino states, earning a look from almost everyone as she approaches the ball, "Yeah, weren't they the security guards from the field trip, Erick? Except, they had regular colored skin..."

"Wait, what is she talking about," Carol asks, looking over to you, "You've met these ones before? They don't look like any of the aliens we've seen before, in fact...they look-"

"Human, yeah," Chris interrupts, peering at the screen next to Carol, earning an irritated scoot from her, "aliens can look like just about anything really, so why do them looking human surprise you? Hell, maybe some people you know may be aliens right now."

For a split second you swear you see a fearful stare from Carol, but it quickly fades back to disgust as she moves from Chris and towards Dante. Chris just laughs at this, and moves over back to the lion, who just seems to sleeping now. Given how tiring this whole ordeal has been for it, you don't really blame it taking a nap. This is then immediately interrupted as the ball opens up which causes it to roar back again.

Chris holds it down, but it doesn't seem to struggle that much anymore. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to stop for the newcomers beneath Paula and Kurtis.

"Please...just let us go!", the woman states, tears welling up in her eyes, "I swear we won't tell anyone about this, or you all. Please, we don't want to die..."

"Tell you what," Kurtis replies in the least threatening voice he has, "we'll let go if you two decide to calm down. Like Erick, said, we're not going to hurt you, we just want to-"

"Don't listen to them, Falaq!" the man shouts back, interrupting Kurtis, "They're going to kill us either way. We have to-"

"JUST SHUT UP ALREADY!" the woman, Falaq, shouts in reply, "We're in this mess because of you, Mahsann. Just, let me talk for once you asshat!"

"What are you crazy," Mahsann adds, looking at his girl again, "we're not going doing this right now, damnit! We have to get of here, otherwise we're dead!"

"Then I don't want to die again!," Falaq , looking at you now, "Please, just let me go. I'll cooperate, just...don't kill me again..."

Falaq's look is one of pure desperation, a resigned, and terrified desperation compared to her boyfriend's own aggression. Whatever kind of occurrence had caused them to act this way, you quickly realized was probably only made worse by the current physical restraint on them. As cold as you could be, this wasn't one of those times to lack empathy. Nevertheless, you weren't going to take any chances with these two.

"Kurtis let her go," you command, with Kurtis nodding slowly, letting Falaq go and helping her to her feet, "I'm willing to help you if you're willing to listen. That is all I ask, alright?"

Falaq nods in reply, and heads over to Carol's side of the room. All the while her boyfriend continues to struggle beneath Paula.

"FALAQ!" Mahsann shouts, only earning a worried look from his girlfriend, "don't do it! We've got to stick together if we're going to-"

"We are going to stick together," you interrupt, earning an angered look from him, "and we'll do it with or without you in it. You can either calm down or stay where you are, your choice, but I am not going to let someone die because of you."

"Fuck you-" is all Mahsann can manage as Paula slams his head on the floor. There is gasp from Falaq and Carol. Paula just nonchalantly gets off of his motionless body and faux dusts her hands off.

"That's a negatory on that one," she says, as Falaq goes to check on her boyfriend's body, "he's alright, don't worry, he's just knocked out. Honestly, you should be more worried about yourself, considering what's about to happen; Here."

Paula says as she quickly grabs one of the metal cases in the Gantz ball, and leaves it near Falaq. Paula opens it for her and shows her the suit inside, to which she just stares in slight confusion.

"You wanna know how that punk in the back held off that lion?", Paula chides, and Chris just flips her the bird from the back of the room, "put this on, and follow our lead. Get your boyfriend his as well, if you want him to live."

"W-wait..." Falaq stammers, looking over to you now, "but...this is...it's so...revealing. If I put it on, I could be doing something very...sacrilegious..."

"Oh my god," you blurt out, almost face-palming at this, "It's your religion or your life lady. Choose one, and know that we're not going to be in this room much longer."

"Given her religion," Chris replies from the back, with a dumb grin on his face, "it probably doesn't matter. Ain't it also bad to disagree with men in that too?"

You just ignore Chris, though Falaq just looks at him with indignity. You just shake your head and let her know that she can change with Maria if it makes her feel better. She nods a little and just head with Maria to get changed. Given the amount of shit you had gone through this week, religious taboo certainly wasn't something you were expecting to tackle.

You count your lucky stars that there aren't that many people to train up this time around, even if one of them is unconscious and the other one is a lion. It honestly made this whole waiting process a little easier on you, as you knew that your current team could handle themselves well enough. Nonetheless, you felt you had to get something productive done here, and moved towards Carol and Dante's side of the room near the hall door.

"I still don't like it...", Carol remarks to Dante, holding onto her sides a bit, "just the thought of being in a mission with him again..it's-"

"I'm not going to let it happen again," Dante replies in a serious tone, but stops his train of thought as you approach, "H-hey Erick, what's up man? Listen, we were just-"

"It's alright, I understand," you reply, quickly catching onto the conversation, "Carol, you have my word that the team isn't going to let a repeat of what happened at the pier happen again. But please, just stay calm with us, alright?"

"He's just such an asshole still," she responds, tossing a dirty look at Chris, as he is entertaining the twins with some weird conversation about getting a suit on that lion, "it's like he's learned nothing since he got back and even with Dante. How can you even consider someone like that as your brother Dante?"

"I question myself on that every day honestly," Dante sigh, but then looks at Carol with a more sorrowful expression, "He's a stupid, horny, assclown, but I have to make it work for my own and his sake as well. If you don't want to be a part of that, I completely understand."

"No one is asking you to like him Carol," you add, earning Carol's attention, "but, we have to work as a team if we're going to get through tonight. That includes him, as much as you, alright?"

"...fine...whatever," Carol replies, somewhat dejectedly, "Just...keep him away from me, alright Erick? I won't try anything, but...I don't want to give him the chance to either."

"You have my word," you state, with a sympathetic smile, "though, if something goes wrong, I'll be there to put him in his place. If Dante isn't there first, of course."

Carol nods in passive agreement, and Dante breathes a sigh of relief at the situation being somewhat defused. The door opening to the hall segways almost immediately after this, as Maria heads out with a very embarrassed look Falaq. Her headscarf is gone, revealing her medium sized hair that seems almost wavy as it floats down from her. In spite of Maria's guidance, it seems that she is still very much ashamed to walk in public.

"Stop worrying so much," Maria states, as they approach Paula near the gun racks, "you look great in it. There aren't even any imams or rabis or whoever you guys get preached from, so just chill a little, alright?"

'Boy, that looks like an awkward situation, but I still got a bit more time...'

"Listen, if you want to live, you'll follow our instructions," Paula says, showing off some of the weapons to Falaq, "the things out there aren't gonna care if you're opposed to violence. So, you have to protect yourself, and help us as well, alright?"

"It's just...", Falaq meekly replies, looking at Paula with pleading eyes, "I've never shot at anything before. A-And...much less another person, I don't think I can-"

"You're gonna have to learn quick then," you interject, picking up Mahsann's body and placing next to the ball, "Your boyfriend isn't gonna be here to protect you if he keeps having an attitude problem. So, you need to start worrying about how you can do it yourself."

Falaq looks at Mahsann's body again, and puts her gaze on the floor in dejection. Soon afterwards though, she takes a deep breath and look at Paula with a more determined stare.

"Alright...", she responds, her voice betraying her stare, "But, do you at least have something that's not lethal?"

The question is interrupted by a familiar ring in your ears from Gantz, along with a familiar message that pops up on its screen.

<J3w 5hmuck5 wi11 m@y n33d th3s3. H@v3 fun!>

There is an eerie silence in the room as you all hear an unlocking sound, and the door to the side room opens again by itself. Yukino, being the closest to it, enters it without much hesitation, leaving Chris and the twins with the lion and venturing into the side room. Whether it's a now instinctive impulse to follow her, you make your way inside of it as well to see what new surprise Gantz has for your group.

You vaguely remember the sparse layout of the room from before, but something seems different about it now. The showcases were still there, though only one of them now had the metal covering on it. That large circular indent in the room was still there, but alongside it there was now a rod or object that jutted out from the edge up to your hip. No, for whatever reason, your mind decided that the newer, and more rustic interior was the off thing.

Some words of 'Bitchin' and 'Whoa, that's new,' hit your ears as some of your team started to enter the side room. You didn't pay it too much attention however, as you headed inside and looked at some of the new equipment available, with Yukino trying to reach one of them on the top rack. It looked like a flashlight, with a big round top that had a strange indent inside of it instead of a bulb. The other new piece was in the bottom rack, and it looked like a circular, turtle like object with a screen in the middle.

Sword <Beginner>

You head over to the top racks for one of those flashlight things, avoiding Chris as he heads over to the old racks where the big gun and the gauntlets are at. With some care, you quickly lift up one of the flashlight things from the mounts and you make sure to hand one to Yukino. After a quick "Thank you ", from her part, you eye the device a little more clearly.

The long portion of it seems oddly thin, and carrying some ridges along its edge with indentations that easily holds your fingers like a grip. There are two large buttons or strange segments that look like buttons near the top, but are close enough to the grip that they can be pressed by a single hand. There is a degree of curiosity that overtakes you as you go to press one, only to realize that Yukino's own beat you by about 2 seconds.

With a jump of surprise from Yukino, a two foot curved blade extends out of the top portion of the item. The blade itself appears like blackened metal, yet retains that luster to its natural form as Yukino attempts to cautiously swing it around. You quickly look at your own item, and try to replicate upon Yukino's attempt. Sure enough, after you press the left button, a similar looking blade juts out of the tiny looking sheath.

The sight astounds and surprises everyone in the room, as the weapons now in your hands appear both simple yet impossible. Chris heads to the top racks first, quickly grabbing the last one remaining and trying to replicate what you just did. Yukino herself is trying to get accustomed to swinging it, but you can see that she's hesitating a little as she does so. Chris on the other hand, is having no problem swinging the blade around, albeit rather wildly.

"Why is it a samurai sword?", Chris says, looking over the reflection on the blade, "Aren't we in America damnit? Couldn't they have just given us one of those giant highlander sword from Braveheart?"

"Yeah, I don't think we're in Scotland either," Dante states, looking at Chris's blade, "Still, if it's doing this again, I can only suspect the stakes are going to be much higher now. Everyone, stay on your toes out there."

"Chris, how do you look so natural with that thing?", Silvia asks Chris, and Claire continues the thought, "Have you used swords before or this like your first time?"

"Never ever actually," he replies, then looks to you, "but I did watch a lot of samurai with my old man back when I little. That kind of shit sticks you, though, it feels way lighter in real life."

The girls just keep fixating on him, yet you don't really pay it much attention. For Chris to have learned or at least retained something like that from Samurai movies, sounded almost absurd. Though, given your situation, you had become accustomed to this level of absurdity. It was odd however, that Yukino's own stance with that sword seemed to mirror Chris's own almost perfectly.

'Maybe he wasn't so full of bullshit after all.'

You swung the sword around a few times from the stance Yukino was in: overhead, then side, and the thrust. You slowly then began to wonder on how Yukino knew how to swing a sword, or was somewhat familiar with it. Over the sound of Claire and Silvia almost gawking over Chris, you headed over to Yukino, with her acknowledging your presence by pressing one of the buttons again to sheathe the blade back.

"Hey Yukino," you ask, looking at the sheathe in her hands over, "how do you know how to swing that so well? I don't know anything about Japan, but I don't think that's something they teach in elementary school there."

"My dad taught me, kind of" she bluntly replies, making your widen a little, "we had this big backyard back in Japan, and my dad always practiced with his own sword. I saw him a lot of times with it out there, but he never wanted to actually teach me."

"You learned that from memory?", you ask somewhat astounded, and Yukino nods in quick succession, "well, seems more plausible than Chris learning it from samurai movies. Though, you seem fold back a little when you swing, like you're hesitating."

Yukino is about to respond when a small shriek from the back of the room draws everyone's attention to Maria as she's sprawled on the floor while Carol and Paula try to pick her up. You, Yukino and Dante head over to investigate, to find one of those turtle looking thing embedded on the floor. The little knobs on its side are now spiked hooks or claws that are digging into the floor of the room. On its screen though, you see three simple buttons like the Gantz's own touch screen.

<Break> - <Alarm> - <EMP>

"I just pressed the top part to see what would happen," Maria admits, getting up from the floor, "What do you think it is Erick? It's not like...a bomb or something, right?"

"No way," Paula states, looking over the device, "Gantz is crazy, but I don't think it would want us to bomb a city block with something. If it is a bomb though, I think it would give us a timer if we're going to prime it with those buttons."

"These options are strange though," Carol says, leaning over to look at the device, "Emp is obviously an electromagnetic pulse, alarm could be some sort of trip-wire to warn us on something, but I have no idea what that break thing could be. It doesn't even say what the specifications or radius or anything about what those things do."

The girls gulp a little, and you follow Yukino's gaze to the device's screen. It is very similar to the screen on the weapons, and the options menu is Gantz's general blend of vagueness. Though, you can only guess as to what the buttons would actually do, even with Carol's suggestions. Even Yukino seems a little worried at the prospect of possibly activating a bomb in the room. The only question remained though, if you wanted to take that risk to sake your curiosity.

Alright, I'll stop there for tonight as my internet is deciding to act up again. Had a bigger turnout today, so I thank everyone that stayed.

We will reconvene tomorrow at 2:00 PM EST.

Have a good night /qst/.

"Everyone stand clear," you state, stepping up towards the device, "I'll test what's up with it. Curiosity is killing me with it really, and it could be useful."

"Yeah and it could kill us all as well," Maria adds, with an incredulous expression, "just leave it alone Erick, it really could be-"

"Let him do it," Paula interjects, placing her hand on Maria's shoulder, "we can't waste an opportunity to see what these new things are going to do. Besides, you know what you're doing with it, right Erick?"

"Well, from what Carol's said," you continue, checking over the options, "I don't want to risk a full-on EMP here if it'll affect our gear. Break doesn't sound good to try in the room either, so...Alarm could be the safest as an initial test."

"Regardless, I don't want to take any chances here," you say with a serious tone, then motioning to everyone inside, "take any of the equipment out of this room and clear out. Gantz will heal me when we get out if I get hurt anyways, so get moving people."

"Well, not if you di-", Maria sarcastically adds, but is interrupted by an un-amused Paula punching her shoulder. After she rubs it a little, she joins the others as they start taking any of the new gear from the room. You notice that, in spite of the amount of people in here now, the side room doesn't really have that much gear; with only one extra launcher and a set of gauntlets this time around. The three swords, and the two extra turtle things were carried out as well, and within 2 minutes the others cleared the room, and were standing right outside of the door.

Half of the group looked on inside from the door with anticipation, while the others could only wait safely behind the wall with worry. Knowing that everyone was safe, you took a deep breath, and pressed the 'Alarm' button. Almost immediately the screen goes blank, and the a whining beep emerges from it as does a short timer.

<3>

You don't waste any time and stand up from your position to the door. If you know your action movies, something bad usually happens at the end of these kind of countdowns.

<2>

The second beep announces just as you clear the door of the room, and the wait with anticipation on the frame with the others.

<1>

Yukino, and Maria move away from the door out of fear, yet the Paula, Chris, Dante and Carol stay their positions.

<*>

A final beep finalizes the countdown as the you and the rest of the group brace themselves for oncoming peril from the other side. But it never arrives, as rather a quick, clacking sound emerges from the other room. It sounds like one of those bird alarms on a supermarket; a little annoying but nothing dangerous. A look of confusion is shared between some of you, but almost immediately a pained whine emerges from an unexpected source nearby. To you and everyone else's surprise, the lion that was laying near the back of the room starts panting a bit more heavily, and kneading his head into the floor.

<Continued>
>>
>>2696160
Oh so the alarm is a non lethal way to incapacitate a target. I guess EMP is to fuck with any tech the enemy could have and the break well that one is obvious what it will do. Break stuff.
>>
Also that lion is having one bad day too. Poor thing, sure it tried to eat us and attack Yukino but...if we can forgive a horny, stupid animal we can forgive the lion too.
>>
>>2696209
Lion forgiveness is set already anon, I want to pet it
>>
>>2696160

The lion's panting turns into a raspy growl as it seems to be trying to claw its way into the wood and bury its large head into it, as if trying to escape from something. Another pained whine emerges from it before you realize what could be causing it to act this strange. You quickly turn your head towards the room, and the device on the floor, as its screen glows with another countdown and a little ringing bell icon.

<5>

Dante and Chris make their way to the lion, no doubt trying to stop it again, but Carol quickly raises a hand to hold them back.

<4>

You figure she's probably caught onto it is as well, as you head back inside of the room.

<3>

The lion's whining continues, as its desperate clawing turns to thrashing on the floor and the Gantz ball itself.

<2>

The countdown continues to wind down, and you notice that the clicking on the alarm is starting to get faster. In fact, they're getting so fast, they're starting to sound like one long note.

<1>

A loud roar eminates from the lion and you hear a scream from the outside of the room as the sound of paws on wood start resounding in the distance.

<*>

"Erick, look out!", Dante shouts from the outside, as you turn to seen the lion come leaping full speed into the room. However, instead of going for you, it lands not a few inches away. You almost fall back in surprise as the lion starts sinking its powerful jaws into the device, trying desperately to tear it apart in its mouth. Though, by the time it does this, the clicking on the device has subsided.

The lion tries to thrash it apart, and applies its claws on it to tear it while in his mouth, yet it only achieves a few tooth marks on the plastic-like material. You quickly exit the room, close the door behind you, and leave the lion inside with its new chew toy. There was a twinge of adrenaline in your legs as you did, and Paula quickly goes to your side to stop you from shaking so much.

"It's gotta be an alarm set to a specific frequency," Tanjeet states, holding up one of the turtle things, "something we can't hear but it stuns or startles anything that hears it. Like a dog whistle, but in reverse; it's honestly ingenious for non-lethal suppression."

"Yeah, US army used something similar to clear town-centers in Afghan," Kurtis says, looking over one of the little devices, "except, this just has the added bonus of not hurting your guys while inside. Honestly though, I am kind of curious as to what the other options do now."

"We can try that out later," Allie states, looking over the group, "personally, I think we should start finishing our preparations right about now. If I remember correctly, this seems like the time when Gantz started teleporting us again."

"She's right," you add, gaining everyone's attention, "If you haven't put your suit on, find a safe place in the hunting grounds and do it there. Everyone else, grab a weapon and wait patiently."

Yes, but I believe only Carol had experience using it. We can always give Yukino's glove to Kurtis since she seems to be better with the sword rather than with the glove. Also the sword can't be absorved like the blast the glove launches. But with Kurtis playing a hero i don't trust him with the new gear. Even if he promised to stop doing it.

We don't actually need the Y-gun having the Y-launcher with us. The Y-gun is easier to use so it's better for a newbie or Yukino so maybe give the new rifle for Falaq and her boyfriend. Also the X-gun is in case we need to blow something in our way.
>>
>>2696391
You had learned that an able response was a good response, but at the same time, it seemed that the majority of these fights seemed to have you in close quarters. It seemed to to go against your balanced stance on gear, but you knew this new load-out would be much more helpful given the previous instances. You rummaged through your dufflebag and pulled out your large gun, which seemed to have regained its storage barrel.

The others did the same with their gear, each arming themselves with both new and familiar gear. Whether they were trying to quickly acclimate themselves to some of the newer stuff or trying to be prepared, it wasn't something you were going to fault them on. This took all of three minutes before everyone was set. Then, something odd and worrying occurred as Chris approached the Gantz ball, and reached his hand inside it. Silvia and Claire were the first to notice and they quickly went to his side; you followed instinctively behind them.

"Ugh...it's honestly creepy that it looks like some kid", Silvia asked, trying to peer in with Claire, "Like, why is it even a kid? Actually...what are you doing Chris?"

"It's a secret, really," he says, and you see his arm stretch out and then hit something, "but let's just say this whole waiting room is getting on my nerves. I'm just speeding up the process."

Not a few moments afterwards, you hear a loud metallic click from Gantz. There's a smile on Chris's face as he pulls out his hand, and the ball's screen goes blank for a moment. Soon enough, you see a timer appear on it displaying, <03:00:00>. The others just stare at it, while Dante stares at Chris with a shocked expression, yet before he can say anything Chris just waves him goodbye.

"Do me first Gantz!", he shouts, and a green laser shots out towards him, "Sorry, but I get tired of waiting. See you fuckers on the other side! WOOO!"

Chris's body is teleported to the other side, before you or the other can properly react. Carol and Paula immediately look to Dante for an answer but the laser soon shoots out towards him after finishing up the last of Chris. He gets as far as saying, "It's a force start button for-", before his head is whisked away. The others thankfully already have their gear, but you don't have much time to react as the laser hits next...

You vision acclimates to the nighttime glow of the DC street, as several cars whiz past you on the adjacent road. The rest of your body arrives to the cool night air of what you quickly surmise is the National Mall, the main tourist hub of DC and historic center of the city. Every resident of the city knew this are, you included, yet you had never really been here all that much considering your time the city. Though, given your current position in the Mall, a singular, domed building stretched before you into the night sky.

As you stared into the looming shadow the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, you noticed Dante and Chris pulled up to the side near a concrete rail. As you approached them, you quickly took note of the situation in that Dante was mad and currently reprimanding a pretty smug looking Chris on that rail.

"I thought it you said it was a one time thing!", Dante said, his eyes showing plenty of irritation, "What do you think would have happened if one of them was missing their gear? We can't lose people here just because you're bored dammit"

"Oh cool it already," Chris says, almost swinging back on the railing playfully, "Everyone was ready and set for the mission, so what are you getting so worked up over? If anything, I think I deserve a thank you for saving everyone some time, right Erick?"

"Yeah, sure," you say sarcastically as you approach the two of them, "I can deal with you being an ass half the time, but don't pull a stunt like that again. It honestly could have gotten someone killed in the long run."

"Whatever," Chris responds, just nodding his head, but grinning the whole way through, "Oh, sorry, I mean, as you say your highness. We're all going to the same place anyways."

The kid was just so damn incorrigible at times, it made even speaking to him almost a pain. The sentiment was shared on Dante's face as he retained a similar frown as you did. It only seemed to make Chris's grin bigger. The arrival of two more members, Paula and Maria, thankfully broke up the annoyed looks at Chris. You quickly switched back to your regular thinking mode, as you looked to Dante for some advice; figuring you might as well do some recon before the others arrive.

"What does the radar say right now?", you ask, and Dante quickly turns his on, "And how many things are we dealing with here?"

"Hmm...", Dante ponders, and Paula approaches your little circle, "I see 2 close by, near the museum. But, the are really tiny, like the radar is barely picking them up. There are 3 others further in, but they are also really faint."

"I take it that doesn't usually happen, right?," Maria adds, and you shake your head, "Well, at least it's showing something. Unlike the cathedral, where none of those things even showed up."

"Your call Erick," Paula states, and everyone looks to you for an answer, "How do we proceed?"

"We'll need to have multiple points of entry on this one," you start, grabbing the others' attention, "One team will enter through the front and take out the two near the entrance, drawing the attention to themselves. The other team will have to find a more stealthy entry point, and engage any aliens they find as they make their way inside."

"From my own experiences, there could be two other ways in," you say, pointing to two portions of the radar's map, "There's a service entrance for employees near back, but you may have to bust your way in. As for the other one, It could involve going in through the dome itself, but both aren't really all that stealthy."

"We'll find a way Erick," Paula replies, and Dante nods his head in agreement as well, "You and the others just need to focus on surviving against those two in the front. Whatever these aliens can do though, we've got them handled."

You form an acknowledging smile to Paula, before a familiar growl interrupts the planning process. You and the others turn your head to spot the lion toss the black device at your feet, and then quickly pace away from the five of you. It quickly moves from the stone railing and heads towards the back of the building, dissapearing in the foliage.

"Umm...should we get that?", Maria says in a worried expression, "I mean, yeah, the aliens, but we kind of have an invisible lion running through DC right now."

"If you want to go after it be my guest," Chris replies, leaning to look back from the railing, "if it wanders too far, Gantz will take care of the rest. Not our problem, really."

Paula and Dante shoot Chris an unamused look, but he just shrugs it off. You're half tempted to go after it yourself, but considering how fast that thing runs, it could be more trouble than its worth even with your suit on. Not long afterwards, the others arrive in similarly short intervals with Mahsann and Falaq, who had actually managed to put her headscarf back on, being the last. You quickly explain the plan to the others, with Silvia, Allie, Dante, and Paula as the away team, while the rest of the group as the main force.

"The other will meet up inside with us and provide support from another angle", you inform, the others listening intently, "We don't know what these guys can do, so stay on your toes everyone."

"You heard him, let's get a move on!" Dante reiterates, motioning to his group to follow, and they dissapear from sight with their cloaks. The others follow you as you lead them to the museum entrance. The stone steps marking the prelude to an unforeseen enemy. Until of course, you saw the closed sign on the doors and a lock near the main entrance way. Through the glass, you could just barely make out two feminine figures near the info booth.

You motion the group to stop near the steps as you head away from the doors. They're quick to notice the sign as well, but stay near the base of the steps as to follow your example. Only Chris breaks from formation, and heads to your position.

"This is easy man," he whispers, looking at the 3 locks on the doors, "There's only two and so many of us here. Unless you're pussying out this early again, we should head in guns-"

"We're doing this my way," you state somewhat ignoring him, waving a hand to Carol and Tanjeet, who quickly join the two of you up there, "I need the two of you to get these doors opened in a subtle way. Do either of you know how to lock-pick?"

"I can, but I need a screw driver or-" Carol starts, until Tanjeet actually produces a large sewing needle and pin from his bag, "Oh, yeah that'll work. Yeah, I can get this open, but what's the plan afterwards?"

"We'll have to sneak in," you state, but then turn to Chris, "we can ambush them once we're all inside. Don't worry, you'll get your rush Chris."

Another sick grin crosses Chris's face as he heads to the far side of the wall. As soon as he gets away, Carol and Tanjeet start working on the locks. With the time it'll take them to unlock the doors, it could serve you good to do a bit of reconnaissance. You peer back inside, and see the two guard chicks talking to each other. You are able to faintly make out their conversation, between the clicks on the lock with Tanjeet and Carol.

"So, let me get this straight," the tall one with the long hair says, pushing what looks like a donut in her mouth, "You and Sapphire are a thing again, she forgave you, but still doesn't want to be 'together' with you yet? Explain to me, how that makes sense Ruby, because...it doesn't."

"It doesn't make sense to me either Amethyst," the smaller one, Ruby, replies, while holding her brow, "she calls it 'recovery time', or something equally stupid like that. Says she needs time to think and relax before we actually get back together, otherwise we might go unstable again."

"Sounds like something Rose would come up with," the tall one, Amethyst, responds, downing the last of that donut, "though, if it is her, it be better for both of you if you just take it in stride. As stupid as it may sound, we aren't all as cold or easy to forget like Pearl is."

"Eeagh...don't let her hear that," Ruby continues, shuddering slightly, "I think I'd prefer a hundred cold shoulders from Saphy than one talking to from Pearl. Did you see her on that field trip? Fakest smile I have ever seen on a 'human'."

'Boy, these ones sure are chatty,' you mentally comment, thinking on that day in the museum last week, 'almost makes me forget they are aliens really...'

"I got it!", Carol whispers in a hiss, as Tanjeet masterfully hides the last lock nearby, "We got our entry point Erick, let's head in."

'Now or never...'

You quickly motion to everyone top join you on the top landing, and they do so very quickly.

"Alright, stay low and quiet for this," you state to the others, with them intently listening in, "I want three of you in each entryway, and try to find cover as soon as you're able. Be quick, and watch each other in there."

The others nod their heads, but you see that Chris is already heading into the center doorway. You almost shout at him to get back, when you see that he actually quickly rolls towards one of the columns in the way. He looks back at the others and just motions for them to join in.

You sigh, and quickly try to set up with the rest of the group for entrance-ways. You quickly lead Yukino and Kurtis right behind you, as Tanjeet takes Maria and Claire and Carol takes Falaq who leaves her boyfriend near the entrace of the museum. You figure she doesn't want him getting anymore hurt, but you then think on what this could spell for the group later down the line.

The sneak is so swift that the entire group manages to make it inside undetected. You begin to wonder if its the fact that no force entry was made, or that these two really are just that engrossed in their conversation to notice the group enter. Regardless, your group sets up a firing line near the entrance columns and you quickly motion to the others to hold their fire.

So far, the only ones with a clear shot line from this range will be Kurtis, Claire and Chris, while the others may have to provide covering fire if the initial barrage doesn't finish them off. You eye the three of the snipers carefully and raise your hand to show if they're ready. They all follow on your motion, and await your signal to fire. A faint buzz from the information desk however gives way to radio chatter that you all hear from the tall alien's voice.

"Yo, what is it Perido-", she starts, but almost flinches at the voice on the radio, "Whoa, hold on there, there's no intruders in the front door. Well...how can that be if the locks...oh, shit..."

You quickly give the motion to fire from the others, and your three snipers let loose with a hail of kinetic shots. The muzzle flash of the guns is not as stealthy as you thought as the both of them make a dive under the info table before a flash of purple and red light resounds from there.

Chris and the others don't let up, as they put shot after shot into the information desk, until the tall alien makes a massive leap from the desk and onto the main atrium. Her skin has turned purple, her hair silver and is now giving your group a frowning glare as she produces a three pronged, thorned whip from the shining rock in her chest. The other one emerges from the desk, and quickly runs for the stairs with an almost insane amount of speed.

With the reload time on the rifles, you may have to engage.

You don't waste anytime as you motion to the others nearby to make their way to a proper range of fire. Figuring you have a massive numbers advantage on this one, the obvious idea would be to surround and attack her from all sides. Tanjeet and Maria are one step ahead of you as they bank left to cut her off from the other hall. The don't get that far as the purple alien swiftly cracks her whip in the floor in front of them.

Bits of marble and rock spark up from the point of impact as the part are almost thrown to the ground from it. Meanwhile the others are already raising their weapons, but you then see the alien produce another whip from that purple rock in her chest. The whips it around, her head, and slams it near where Carol almost stepped in.

"I'll give you all one chance to get out," she shouts to the group, "Take it or leave it. But I'm not holding back just cause you're humans."

With the wide range on her whips, this might be harder to land a shot than you image. Given her positioning, it makes the job of surrounding her almost impossible if she's blocking the entrance. That being said, there was no way she could retain her composure with a barrage from this many people. You just had to all retain a line of fire, but you would need an opening of some kind... An opening you could provide.

"Everyone, start shooting!", you command, and start looking for an opening in her stance, "Don't let up! She can't take this much fire!"

"You wanna try me?!" the alien exclaims, and moving her arms wildly and swinging her whips.

'Just one shot, damnit...' you think to yourself, and ready for a daring move.

<GREAT SUCCESS>

Given the wide arc of the whips, there should be gap in her stance if you aim for her dead center. This is of course if you can approach it from this angle without getting pelted to death by those things. Thankfully however, the others are swift to provide just the cover you need.

Carol and Tanjeet shoot their nets at the alien, yet she's able to deftly pluck them out of the air with those whips of hers. This doesn't stop the anchors as they nonetheless attempt to pin down her whips and arms, yet the serrated edges of the spikes on those whips make short work of the netting.

Meanwhile, Yukino and Maria are keeping her pinned on the spot with their pistols, aiming just short of hitting her, but with enough of a range on their shots to keep her from moving too much. They can't manage to hit her regardless, as the alien's almost serene footwork manages to elude their fire. It doesn't matter how strong or agile this alien is, it won't stand up much longer against this much incoming fire.

Kurtis, Chris and Claire are back to shooting with their rifles, yet the alien evades their shots. You figure there's no way she could know the actual properties of the weapons, so she much be guiding herself from the trajectory of the muzzle flash. That level of coordination is inhuman as she manages to weave and tilt enough to evade the majority of the incoming fire.

That being said, one source does go through, but not from the snipers, but from you as you take a break in the whips and firing line to charge straight at the alien. She makes a motion to try and grab you, but you swerve right hard enough enough to almost scrape the floor and fire a net with your launcher right to her side. With this close range, the alien has no chance of escaping it, as the nets shoot and nail it right in on the side.

She shouts in anger and frustration as the wires wrap around her body, and the net's anchors embed themselves on the floor. Though, to your surprise, even with the amount of tensile strength on those things, the is somehow managing to keep herself from completely falling flat on the ground. You quickly approach the alien and hold your finger on the trigger to teleport her away, before she speaks again.

"Damnit, I-I can't move!", the alien shouts, struggling with all of her might to break the nets, "What the hell are you guys even after here?! We're not killing or hurting humans, so why are you-"

The alien doesn't finish her sentence as a flash of white light and metal soars through the air, right at your feet. Encrusted on the floor lies a white, coiled spear, and you follow its trajectory to the second floor. You and the others spot three identical women, with white skin, looking down at you all.

Their eyes are an almost an eerie white as they stare down at your group, yet their similarity was what was most eerie. From legs to their odd, pointed hairstyle, you could tell something was very wrong with these three. The others were in a similar state of shock, though, you heard enough of a motion from the back to know they were about to fire on them as well.

"One more motion from you," all three figures announce in unison to your group, "And it will be your lives, humans. This is your last warning."

"Up yours you alien dykes!", Chris replies, a mocking chuckle soon following, "This is America, not whatever rock shit planet you came from. You leave first!"

Everyone is almost speechless at Chris's lack of subtlety, though you notice the aliens don't really move or respond to his insulting commandment. The three women stand perfectly poised on the marble balcony of the second floor, two of them still readying their spears, but the middle one seems to be holding something behind her back. Despite their unflinching nature, you decide to take this chance to finish the job on that alien, along with setting up another plan.

"Carol, get that turtle ready!", you shout back, and point you gun at the alien, "Sorry, but it's us or you guys."

The alien looks looks at you with a horrified expression, and you swear you see tears in her eyes as you press the triggers. In the split second you make that motion, you hear a familiar sound of air splitting and metal moving. You don't have to guess as to what's coming next, you just have to dodge.

-1 MOV (TEMP - 5 Posts)

You don't think, only move your body away from the alien as quickly as you can. Taking a back step, you try to dodge the incoming spear sailing through the air. Its speed and almost supersonic splitting of the air barely misses your chest. You land not a few meters away, your suit enhancing the length of your jump. Yet you stumble to the ground as a blinding pain hits the back of your right leg.

Another spear manages to clip you right in the thigh and draws blood on the floor. It hurts like hell, but you know that the wound is shallow enough to not kill you, as the spear embeds itself in the gap between your legs. You let out out a shout of pain and anger, and look at the still unflinching expressions of the three figures on the balcony. You then see them dodge and duck out of the way of several shots of incoming rifle fire,as your firing line starts tearing chunks out of the museum's upper railings.

You feel a hand reach up behind you, as Carol tries to help you up back to your feet. The action is painful on your right leg, but you've been through worse to really pay much attention to it now. On the second floor, you spot those three aliens gracefully dodge every single shot from the snipers in your group, almost as if dancing through them, before descending from the balconies with almost angelic grace. They land with incredible poise and finesse, as they all draw what looks like a long-sword and claymore from the white rocks on their foreheads.

All except the central one, who instead draws a rapier, and makes her way to the downed alien. You and the group quickly react and start firing into them, but the nets are dealt with in an even more speed with those swords, and the shots from the pistols are so delayed they have no trouble evading them with that same graceful step. Their bodies twirl and contort like ballerinas, and the one with the rapier manages to cut the purple alien's net off effortlessly.

"Get out of here," the one with the sword commands to the purple alien, "Get Jasper. We'll deal with them."

The purple alien wastes no time in making her escape, to the lower levels of the museum, with the three figures blocking any line of fire on her. The three figures stand before you and the group, ready to act and react with agility you could barely even keep up with. You had to find a way to break through, otherwise, they would close the distance quickly and slaughter the group in seconds.

'They're fast enough to catch us if we run,' you think, imagining all possible scenarios before you, 'If we try to fight them head on, they'll just swerve and kill us in melee. If we can spread their attention out though...'

"Keep firing!," you shout to the others, and you turn to Carol as they continue the barrage, "Carol, follow me and get ready to set the alarm on that turtle. I'll make us an opening here."

Carol gives you an acknowledging nods as she picks up the device from her holster. You don't waste any time for Carol to follow however, as you charge straight in the aliens and let loose another net from your launcher. The aliens, in an attempt to evade while dodging the incoming fire from the others, take a somersault backwards towards differing portions of the atrium. With their formation broken from the middle, you motion Carol forward to where you stand, and she quickly follows.

"SPREAD OUT!", you shout to the others, and the quickly move from the positions. Chris and Kurtis in particular move from the columns and draw their more close range weapons, the sword and the launcher respectively and head to intercept the aliens.

The aliens don't stop their movement as they quickly start hone in on you and Carol's position. There's only one way you're coming out of this gamble alive, as you drop your weapon and take out the sword, readying yourself for close range. In spite of your inexperience, you're going to hold them back if they try to break through. If Carol can set up that turtle and stun them with the alarm, it may just give you the opportunity to take them out for good.

-1 INT , -1 MOV; -1 MOV (TEMP - 4)

The alien trio's speed is too fast for your group to catch up with, as they only manage to halt the advance of one. Even if this one manages to veer to the side, courtesy of Maria and Tanjeet, the remaining two are too close for the others got get a clear shot. If you knew it would have come down to a stand against two sides, you probably would have looked for a better location to set the device.

'Not more time for regrets.'

You steel your nerves, and press the button the hilt, unsheathing the sword's blade. There was no time to get accustomed to this thing, as you focused on the closest one possible, her long-sword gleaming close as she charges at you. There's a small gleam of sparks as you manage to partially block the strike, your suit activating to make up for the impact. In spite of their diminutive and dainty forms, these aliens seems strong enough to break your bones with a punch if they wanted to.

The assault doesn't stop as one one the right takes the opportunity to flank you. You barely catch a glance of her rapier about to thrust itself your ribs before Carol gets up from setting up the turtle and grabs her by the arms. The impact causes Carol to knock the alien on the ground, but you can't pay attention as the one with the long-sword attempts to slash at you in a wide arc. You catch the slash in a standing block with your sword as they clash in the middle, and the alien almost peddles backwards from the recoil.

Deciding to switch to the offensive, you take a step forward and try to thrust your sword into the alien's abdomen. This turns to be a big mistake, as the alien swiftly pivots its foot back and stabs its sword right towards your hand. The pain is searing and instant as some of your fingers and half of your right hand are cut off in an inhumanely dexterous maneuver. You let out a shout of pain and horror as the alien then spins and sweeps your legs, knocking you flat on the ground. The alien's form moves from your own and heads to your side, where Carol is.

"ERICK!", you can hear Kurtis shouting as you turn your head to see his suit bulge with musculature and charges at the alien full sprint. You actually see him throw the Launcher at the alien, which she just cuts in half in mid air, but is unable to react fast enough as Kurtis's hulking form slams her into the Elephant's podium.

You feel a hand on your arm as Yukino tries to help you up, and you push through the pain to make it to your feet and then hear the sounds of heavy, fast footsteps ascending from the far side of the atrium. Out of the corner of your eye, between the chaos now erupting as your team try to desperately engage the three aliens, you spot locks of blond hair rising from the bottom stairs.

'Shit...it's her...'

The pain in your right hand continues to hit your mind as much as the amount of blood still coming from it. You feel a surge of adrenaline in your mind as the rest of the world seems to slow down a little, just slow enough to capture the entire moment. To your left, you hear a scream of pain and turn to see Maria's left arm go flying in a spray of blood along with one of her X-Guns. To your right, Kurtis continues to pummel the longsword alien into the elephant's podium, while Carol continues grappling with the rapier alien on the floor, neither of which gaining an inch. All the while, Chris and Claire pass you to aid Kurtis and Maria respectively, each with a different howl of rage in their voice.

All are oblivious to the incoming danger ascending from the lower stairs. With the amount of chaos ensuing right now, it would be impossible to coordinate the group, much less fight whatever is coming to intercept you. So, you turn behind you and onto the little black device Carol never got to activate. If there was a chance to give your group some breathing room, it was going to be this, even if you only had one hand. Yukino's gaze follows your own, no doubt figuring out what you intend on doing.

"I'll get it activated," she proclaims, and quickly moves towards the turtle, "just keep them off of me for a few seconds!"

You wouldn't get to answer back as a final set of stomps would shift your gaze to the bottom stairs. At the landing stood a hulking, female figure with blonde hair and a security guard uniform. That same bodybuilder chick from the field trip was now a dark shade of orange and yellow, and her massive, powerful stomps quickly charged towards Kurtis.

A running clothesline was set to splatter Kurtis's brain matter onto the floor, when Chris quickly intercepted with a flying punch of his own. To his horror however, the woman barely even flinched and grabbed him out of the air and threw him against Kurtis, knocking him into the elephant and away from the rapier alien. At the same time, a long, purple whip grabbed onto Carol's torso and pulled her away from the alien beneath her. With the two aliens freed, they quickly closed their position towards you, and you thought with all of your might on a force-field to protect Yukino at least.

It would never come, as you then heard a low, thrumming hum come from behind you. You didn't have to turn back to know what that was, as the aliens started to convulse in spasms, their bodies seemingly distorting and the color almost turning into television static yet in color. The other aliens did the same, but the ones with the swords actually began to spasm so hard and fast that their bodies almost seemed to start disintegrating. In between this whole commotion, the others gave each other a look of panic and confusion on what to do next. Only one word escaped your mouth.

"RETREAT!!"

The OG Pearl was in the ocean hall yes. But she (one of her copies actually) was inside the booth. When we passed the dinnosaurs hall she was leaving to the staff exit that's why i believe the Dinossaur/fossil hall are the closest to the staff exit.

I went precisely to the other thread to check in it so i don't fuck up again.
>>
>>2702158
Ah, I see. Hopefully they will be there as soon as we arrive.

Also, should we be really focusing on these chicks instead of taking out their surveillance first? It kind of almost fucked up our ambush earlier.
>>
>>2702208
No we should definetly fuck up their surveilance and most likely they will try to pinpoint were we are using it. That's why i wanted to use the EMP first to make sure we fucked their tech.

But with us not having sure this EMP doesn't effect the suits and the guns or the radius the EMP will cover i think we shouldn't use it rigth away.

The aliens' bodies continue to spasm out around the atrium, their bodies continuing to almost fade in and out of color, screaming and shouting in pain all throughout the alarm's hum. The cacophony almost drowns out your initial order of retreat, as does the odd advantage now with your group. The turn to you, before they try to head in, and finish the aliens off.

"EVERYONE!", you shout as loud as you can, and point to the far right hall, "TO THE HALL OF FOSSILS! WE NEED TO MOVE, NOW!"

With the opening caused by the device, attention of the others is subsequently taken by your shout. There is no call of acknowledgement as they all make their way out of the atrium. Kurtis, Silvia, Tanjeet and Maria are the first out, with Tanjeet carrying Maria out in a bridal style. Carol quickly frees herself from the whip and soon joins the others as Chris recovers from his brutal fall. He would throw one last shot punch at the blonde alien, before heading to regroup with the others. Though, you soon realized that you were were missing two people.

'Mahsann should still be knocked out on the front door,' you think, quickly looking around the atrium, 'then, where the hell is Falaq?'

Your thoughts are interrupted by several grunts coming from behind you, and you see Yukino try to pry the device out of the ground.

"Yukino, get that turtle and let's go," you command, and motion her towards the opposite hall, "We need to move now!."

"But, we'll need it later!" Yukino groans as she tries to get the device out of the ground, but even with her suit activated the device isn't detaching from the ground, "Help me Erick! It's not coming out!"

You quickly go to help her with your remaining hand, when two loud stomps and heavy breathing cause a halt in your step. You turn to see the muscle builder chick, and a large, jutting yellow helmet forming around her head. While her body is still somewhat distorting from the alarm's effects, something is causing it to stabilize again.

It soon dawns on you that her helmet may be the reason, as it finishes forming so too does her body finally stabilize. Through the odd helmet's visor, you spot the radiant glow of a yellow gemstone where her nose should be, along with a very Chris-like grin aimed right at you and Yukino. Whatever that helmet is doing, it is stopping the alarm from affecting her now, as she cracker her knuckles at the two of you.

"That was a very smart trick, you little ape," she states, that grin not dissapearing from her face, "But let's see how you do hand to hand. Though, for your friend, I think it might just half to hand, right?"

A sadistic laugh leaves her mouth, as she quickly charges to your position head first. It's not so much as a charges as it its a flying tackle, yet the difference won't matter.

There's barely any time to think as the alien's toned legs propel her on a collision course towards you and Yukino. The air seems to split apart as you can feel a growing column of wind rushing towards you from her charge. At this speed, even if you take the charge head for Yukino, you wouldn't be able to stop her completely with your psychic strength. Even if you were to take off that helmet of hers, the momentum would hit you on the way.

Yet, in that brief few second of incoming rage, your vision caught glimpse your lost sword; about 3 feet to your right. There would be no time to run for it as the alien's body was almost halfway to your position, but maybe you wouldn't need your hands to take it for you. In fact, you wouldn't even need to leave this spot.

'If I can get that helmet off,' you confirm, your breathing growing faster as the alien approaches faster, 'she may be disoriented enough to slow down at least a little. Slow enough, to not dodge a flying sword in her head.'

Focusing on two separate objects was an advanced maneuver you hadn't quite mastered yet, but desperation at the moment were going to force your hands. With adrenaline pumping in your body, and Yukino still trying desperately to pry that turtle from the floor, you focused all of your will to survive on the helmet, and your sword.

<GREAT SUCCESS>
<FATIGUE - 0 >

A hot, almost burning feeling seems to radiate from your head as you reach out with your mind towards two places. Your focus is unerring, almost guided by a shout of equal pain and rage as you feel your head ache with the splitting sensation of the two items. Your hand is stretched out, though not to the sword, but to the alien's helmet as in her furious charge you start seeing it rock on her head. Time seems to slow down again, though, you can only guess the amount of pain you're in right now may be triggering a survivalist instinct inside of you.

In front of you, you see the helmet rock back and forth on the alien's head. She takes almost immediate notice of this, but by the time she's almost 2 feet away from you, it is already too late. You swear to almost see one of her hands reach out from her side to keep it stable, before it flies off to your remaining full hand. It is a hard, yet lightweight material that you catch in your hand, more like a plastic toy rather than a crash helmet. Almost immediately after it left her head, the alien's body starts to shake in spastic rhythm, and the color on her skin starts to distort again like TV static. This doesn't by any means stop her momentum, but another object flying from the right almost does.

To your right, you can feel the rattling shake of the sword as it almost stands up on its sheath and starts moving towards your standing position. The blade comes first, almost as if pulled by a magnetic force at an almost uncontrollable speed, until you deftly turn in it and curving its trajectory. As the alien's helmet finishes coming off and she lets out another howl of anger and pain at the alarm, the sword's blade catches her in mid air. Or rather catches her head, as the blade enters right through her temple in mid-flight until it reaches the hilt. The alien's screaming stops almost immediately as the foreign object diverts her trajectory.

Her body lands to Yukino's side, her arm almost touching your foot as her body continues to distort because of the device. Yukino herself almost falls back as the alien's body hits the floor next to her, but the device manages to finally come off of the ground. Though, the noise stops almost as soon as she pulls it off. You feel a drop of blood from your nose hit forearm, and then see that the helmet in your hand disintegrates like the sword aliens in a cloud of dust and sparks. This is soon followed by the alien's large form disintegrating in a similar manner, albeit in a larger cloud, leaving behind your sword and a little yellow gem behind.

You see Yukino already running for the other hall, as the purple alien in the back starts recovering from her stupor.

Wait, do we have any reason to consider destroying the gem? I'm not familiar with SU, can they use the gems to revive them somehow, or are they just fancy powerup artifact loot after they die?
>>
>>2707244
>Wait, do we have any reason to consider destroying the gem?

In character no.
Out of character: The gem is the alien real body, the vision we see of their humanoid bodiez is just a projection, that's why they get stactic like and apparently a heavier dose seems to make then break their concetration (in Pearls case). Once the gems body is damaged, she retreat to her gem to heal, so if we want to capture/kill a gem we need to destroy the stone. But we don't know about that in character.
>>
>>2707511
Fuck, so we're forced to waste this chance to secure the kill to in-character get away and regroup with the others. Damn shame, but if this'll make us learn in-character how this works, then we can kill secure next time.
>>
>>2707521
>Fuck, so we're forced to waste this chance to secure the kill to in-character get away and regroup with the others.

Pretty much yeah. But fortunantly we saw what happend to then so we can report to the others about our find. So if Jasper and Pearl get back up during this attack we will find out about the gems bullshit hack.

Hopefully this will at least leave Pearl and Jasper (two of the gems strongest figthers) out for a while.

>>
>>2708012
Radar scanned in 5 signatures, so it has to be Pearl, Jasper, Amethyst, Ruby, and Peridot in the museum. As to where the others are...we can only assume they could be on the outside of the museum itself.
>>
>>2708021
Sapphire and Rose were mentioned. We have 7 targets total now. I feel like, just from this thread and not knowing anything about SU, that Jasper is probably down for the count (but NOT dead) and that Pearl and Peridot are most likely the biggest threats. Am I right?
>>
>>2708031
Pearl is scary because of the clone bullshit and the swords. Other than that, and her fusions, she's quite frail if we manage to hit her.

Peridot probably has this whole place wired and that's assuming she doesn't have her body augments. If she doesn't, then at worst we can expect magnetic powers coming from her.

Personally, we really should go after the surveillance, since it gives our enemy a massive tactical advantage.
>>
>>2708031
You would be right about Pearl. Peridot is their tech fag so a emp turtle would fucl her up.

The most dangerous gems are Jasper, Garnet (Ruby and Saphire fusion) and Pearl.
>>
>>2708060
Plant a turtle, retreat and let the EMP fuck all the tech? Although we don't know what is the range of the EMP blast.

The purple alien's body is finally stabilized by the time you're through the door of the Hall of Fossils, though you only look back at a glance. Even with your curious uncertainty towards that yellow gem, you're much more afraid of the possibility of the aliens utilizing your weapons against you. So you took the sword with your remaining hand, and head towards the fossil hall to find the others. Your steps speeding up as that alien is no doubt following right behind you to finish the job.

Though, instead of the sound of loud steps right behind, you instead hear shouts and x-gun shots from the far back of the exhibit. You run as fast your legs can carry you, past the models and images of prehistory in this place. A million images and scenarios, all worse than the rest begin cropping up in your mind as you rush forward. The shouts only get louder as you bank around a wall towards the very back of exhibit.

You a shout of pain just beyond the wall, when suddenly a low hum erupts from the other side. A small ache hits your head as you see an expanding blue field reach beyond the walls and pass right through your body. The lights shut off, and several small whirring sounds slow down to a halt as this happens. Had the suit's buttons not lit up the area beyond the far wall, you would not be privy to a sight akin to a battlefield as you crossed it.

What was once the an ancient mammals' exhibit has been scorched or shattered from heat or explosions. Your group lays either panting or standing with some trouble near the back. Among them, you see the infiltration team, though your warm reunion is cut short as a groan of pain escapes Tanjeet. He lays next to a slightly melted glass fence, with a horrific scorch cutting so deep into his right leg you can see the white of bone. Around the area, several dozen glass-like orbs and cones litter the cramped battlefield, either broken into pieces or lying motionless on the floor.

"Erick!", Yukino's voice shouts near Tanjeet, "we need to help Tanjeet, he got hurt real bad trying to activ-"

"Well, look who decided to finally show up!" Chris shouts above the others, and you see him come closer, "Where and what the fuck were you doing when we got ambushed? Some great plan to run the fuck away, when those aliens were easy pickings!"

"Shut your damn mouth Chris," Carol replies above him, standing up to meet him, "We were sitting ducks out in the open with five of those things and you wanted to stay?! Besides, no one knew those drone things were here.

"Yeah, damn lucky his girlfriend's team was close by," Silvia adds, with Claire rising up with her, "admit it Carol, it was dumb to run away! We could have taken those aliens, just like Chris said."

More voices raise up in the group, adding to the growing discord. It was at times like these when you were somewhat regretting agreeing to be the leader.

<Loyalty Saved>

You don't decide to get into this argument as you move towards Tanjeet as the rest of the group argues. So long as it doesn't get violent, which you were somewhat expecting since Chris was still here, you wouldn't intervene. You kneel to look at Tanjeet's form and see that the burn on his leg has scorched almost right through it. Flaky and dead skin hangs off of this part of his suit, and the muscular ligaments his thigh have been almost evaporated away right to his bone. With your lack of expertise in this field, you almost panic on what to do, until Tanjeet grabs your shoulder with a shaky hand.

"Shoot my leg off," he painfully commands, and Yukino's eyes go wide with surprise and fear, "It's going to hurt like hell at first, but, it's going to make limping away much smoother without the dead weight. Please, I'll slow you guys down even more like this, and it also hurts like a bitch down there..."

"The trauma could kill you man," you reply, earning a nod from Tanjeet, "I-"

Your answer is interrupted by the sound of a thrown punch, though, not from whom you expect. Chris is flung out to the floor behind you, groaning in a daze as Maria's panting body just look at him with contempt. The stump where her arm was is gone, a segment blown off completely near the shoulder with flakes of blood lining up her suit. The twins are speechless at her, but are even more terrified as soon as Maria shoots them both an equally fierce look, before she looks back at Chris.

He doesn't waste any time in the ground as he immediately gets back up to retaliate with his own punch, but Paula quickly intercepts before he can get near Maria. She locks him in an arm bar, but Chris nonetheless tries to struggle out to no avail.

"Don't you ever say that shit about Tanjeet again!", Maria yells at Chris, indignation in her eyes, "I don't care what happened to me out there, but you're not going to say that shit about the man who saved your life right now!"

"We got out because of luck!" Chris continues, trying to look up to Maria, "We didn't even know what that damn turtle thing was going to do when he pressed the EMP. You think Erick and your boyfriend are some fucking heroes right now?!"

"Bigger heroes than you'll ever be, Chris," Carol chides, her look of scorn not fading, "All you care about is making yourself look big here anyways. You give a damn about anyone else, just your sick thrills!"

"It's all the fucking same dammit!" he shouts, looking at the group and then to you, "There's always some shithead that makes a dumb-ass decision for you, and people die because of him! And they always get away, Scott-fucking-free!"

"It's not that simple," you speak up, above the shouts of the others, "you're right Chris, I did drive you into an ambush, but at the same time, even if I didn't I already had a plan in mind. Just hear me out."

It doesn't take long before the group gathers around you to hear your explanation, though not before Allie and Kurtis apply one of Tanjeet's bandages to your right hand. You were honestly very thankful that he had the forethought to bring his medical supplies for this occasion.

"I knew the infiltration team would be here to cover for us," you start, with Chris and the twins paying keen attention, "There was a service entrance near the laboratory that lead to here. I let the team find a point of entry near the East Side, so it was the most likely place for them to end up."

"It's true," Dante states, looking over to Chris, "we ended up near the reconstruction center through one of the staff parking garages. That's where we spotted those drones things start to swarm out to the main building."

"As for our retreat, Maria lost her arm in there," you state, pointing to her with your half of your right hand, "and we were getting surrounded by those things. If we had stayed, our conditions would have been much worse than right now."

"Then why the fuck did you stay behind?!" Chris interrupts, earning a heavier lean from Paula, "I hope it wasn't to get that dumb turtle back! Those things only work once, just ask Tanjeet."

Tanjeet nods his head up and down and then points to the motionless and lightless husk of the other turtle. You furrow your brows for a moment, and suddendly regret that decision to bring it back. Regardless, you just shake it off and return Chris's gaze.

"You know what, I'll give you that much," you respond, your stern look not fading, "but I did get some good intel on those aliens from back there. They've got someone on surveillance in here, someone who's been watching our every move since we entered. Took notice from their conversation on their radios outside."

"Yeah, makes sense," Allie adds, then pointing at one of the deactivated cameras in here, "it would make coordinating that ambush almost child's play. Large buildings like these usually have a security room, if we shut it down, then so does their surveillance."

"Exactly my thoughts," you continue, earning a nod from the others, "also, they also seem to leave this weird gem behind when they die or at least the big one did. Don't know what that's about, but it's something we should keep in mind. That satisfy your curiosity Chris?"

"Fine, whatever," Chris replies in frustration, "Just get her off of me already. I want to get this stupid hunt done and go home already."

"Best attitude I've seen you have," Paula says, lifting herself off of Chris, "Now, try to keep it up for the rest of the hunt. Anyways, what's our plan here Erick?"

OOC: Last post of the night fellas, as I am heading to my parent's place for the weekend.

We will continue tomorrow at 4:00 PM EST. Also, loving the amount of discussion we've had guys. Makes the thread feel a little more alive.
>>
>>2709075
>>YES or NO (Shoot Tanjeet's leg off?) (FREE)
I'm not sure about this because I don't know if we will be able to control the blood loss

>Everyone to the security room, but you risk further injury
I would say this since I have plitting the party but I could be persuaded to
>Head to the security room, but leave half of the group here since the emp probably fried their security in this area and the one's left here could prepare an ambush in case they came after the wounded
>>
>>2709075
>Everyone to the security room, but you risk further injury

> NO (Shoot Tanjeet's leg off?) (FREE)

No more splitting up these gems are to hard to be taken down with just a small group and even more with just one turtle avaiable now. And i don't want Tanjee to faint from shock this is to much of a gamble and last time we lefed people behind they got ganked by the angel aliens.

>>2709093
Yeah it does, just proves on how much we are invested in this quest.
>>
>>2709115
The suit will be able to handle the blood lost. Remember when we were about to face the church aliens? Dante got shot and the suit stopped the bleeding what i'm afraid is of Tanjee fainting do to shock.

Also we have Kurtis with us and the suits make us able to carry people so it isn't such a big deal that he is injured
>>
>>2709115
>>2709137
it's a no on the leg blowing then
>>
>>2709075
>NO (Shoot Tanjeet's leg off?) (FREE)
Remind everyone that Gantz fully heals us if we're alive at the end of the hunt, also remind them of >>2709137.
>Everyone to the security room, but you risk further injury
Also while we're hustling over to gank Peridot, remind people about the previous hunt (like >>2709121 said) in regards to never ever leaving people behind when dealing with ayyliens.
>>
>>2709075
>Don't shoot off the leg, it's cauterized right now, he'll die of blood loss otherwise.

>Head to the security room, but leave half the group here.
>>
>splitting our forces when it was showed that we couldn't handle three gems even with all the people we gathered in the front

Also as it was said before, the bleeding isn't the problem since the suit can stop it. The problem is the pain shock that he will suffer.
>>
>>2709227
Suit cuts off bleeding? Forgot that. Changing to shooting off the leg after all.
>>
>>2709227
>>2709239
It's not the suit, it's the gun that does it. I dont know the mechanics, but it stops bleeding on whatever it hits.

Also, supporting this anon. >>2709163
>>
>>2709266
>>2709239
>>2709227
Fuck. Does the SUIT stop the bleeding, or does the GUN? Depending on the answer, I might have to change my vote on shooting or keep it the same.
Either way, my vote for hustling over to the security room and fucking up Peridot still stands, as well as my explanation/reminder write-ins.
>>
>>2709303
We have bandages no need to use the gun. Besides the problem of Tanjee fanting or dying from shock still stands.

>>2709266
It's not? I though it was the suit that stopped Dante from bleeding when Carol shot him.
>>
>>2709321
I am pretty sure the gun just shot him and exploded his arm. There was no report of bleeding besides the blood already on his suit when it happened.

The suit wouldn't have anything to do with it anyways since anywhere that gets pierced with the suit deactivated. Remember when we got our legs cut off by the mushroom alien and we bled out?
>>
>>2709328
Point even so i want to bring attention to this part os the update:

>"The trauma could kill you man," you reply, earning a nod from Tanjeet,

i don't want to risk Tanjee's life. That's the kind of stuff that Joshua would do.
>>
>>2709366
I never suggested we shoot his leg though, I was just pointing it out to you guys. Either way, it's going to be easier to do this without him fainting or dying from the pain anyways.

Though, that bring to mind if he shot Maria in the arm to stop her bleeding.

"We need to move out of here," you state, then motioning back wall, "I get the feeling they going to start looking for us after that little blackout. Dante, you got a reading where that security room may be?"

"Yeah, I think I may have it," He replies, moving towards you with his radar turned to you, "Seeing two of those tiny signatures again, though they are on the bottom floor. We can take the maintenance entrance from the fossil lab right to there."

"How big do think that EMP was?", Allie asks, looking at the layout on the map, "If it just took out the whole fossil exhibit from here, it could have just been a few dozen yards at most. We could be risking ourselves even more out in the open with such a large group."

"We'll have to be quick about it then," you quickly respond, earning a look of worry from Allie, "they've been watching us since we arrived here, so chances are they're gonna take notice of a big blind spot in their surveillance. This is the best chance we have to take it out, so we can't waste anymore time discussing it. Now, ready up and cover your sides, we're leaving."

The others with the exception of Chris and the twins, quickly acknowledge your plan, and head out to the fossil lab. Allie and Kurtis give each other a similarly worried look, before they finally nod to you and head out with the others to the fossil lab. Upon them leaving, you notice Maria and Tanjeet at the side, with Maria trying to pack up what's left of Tanjeet's medicine bag next to him. There's a look of pain in both of their faces, but you know this isn't the time for sentiment.

"Maria, help up Tanjeet," you command, earning a look of concern from her, "Sorry to say, but you're not much use right now with just the one arm. Let him shoot for you, alright?"

"But Erick, I need to-" she tries to object, but Tanjeet raises his arm to her.

"It's alright," he replies, hoisting the bag over his shoulder, "I got arms still, so let's keep each other safe. But...if it gets too heavy, don't hesitate to drop me, alright?"

There's a pause from Maria, before she nods in agreement, a bit of sad understanding in her eyes, and heads to pick up Tanjeet from the floor. The horrific burn on his leg causes him to cringe as he hangs onto Maria's shoulder. As hobbling as the injury may be, he'll be more useful now if he's conscious and has a gun on his hand. You and the couple, join the others near the fossil lab soon afterwards.

<Continued>

Much like the rest of the exhibit hall, there is not a single light shining as you and the others enter the fossil lab. Or rather, crash into it as Chris decided to literally punch a hole in the glass window separating it from the exhibit. Dante mentions that there was also an employee entrance nearby you could have used, but even he admits that this is quicker.

In spite of Chris's rough entry, your group is incredibly quiet navigating through the inside of the laboratory. The dark interior and lack of adequate lighting perhaps adding to the subtle step on your group. Of the ones you could see however, you noted that Allie and Paula had switched to a stealthy approach and activated their camouflage to stay full immersed in the darkness.

The lab itself wasn't that enormous, as the initial examination room could barely fit your team inside, and only seemed to get bigger as you headed deeper in. Small chisels, metal sinks, and all manner of labeled fossil specimens surrounded your group throughout the lab. Yukino's initial curiosity here had to have been peaked considering this was behind the scenes walkabout for her.

This was until you came to a set of large metal doors near the back that led to an elevator. You set about heading inside, with your group, as per Dante's advice, it would lead you to the museum's storage area, which in turn led to the maintenance and security hall. Judging by how massive this thing was, by it being able to take the entire group down, it had to be a cargo elevator to carry up specimens to the laboratories upstairs. Though, the moment it began to move downstairs you started to feel a strange sensation in the air.

"Hey...is it getting hot?", Carol states, looking around to the others, "This place is big enough so our body temperature shouldn't be too close. But, it's getting-"

She is interrupted by the sound of a metal wire snapping, and the elevator shaking slightly as it does. There is a shout of terror from the twins as the elevator continues shaking, all while that heat starts to get hotter. Kurtis pushes emergency stop button, but it doesn't stop the heat from getting hotter, though now you can see it clearly in the ceiling. Part of metal is starting to warp and bend as you and the others see an intense amount of heat start coming in from there.

If the elevator falls, will we be at the security hall floor?

Tell them to shoot while we concentrate in stoppung the fall, either the shhoting. Or. The alien mmelting the cables will cut us loose so we want to make that fall softer. If we brake the doors and try to escape there's a good chance the elevator will fall while people are leaving and that would be gruesome

The elevator continues shaking and rocking, even as its descent has been stopped by the emergency button.

"We've got to get this door open!", Kurtis shouts, pushing through the others and quickly flinching away as his hands touch the doors, "FUCK, it's too hot! Don't we have something to pry these open!"

"The swords!", Dante states, quickly looking at Chris then Yukino, "gimme your sword, and hang onto something. Chris, to the right side and start pushing on my count!"

Chris moves with him and starts prying the doors open. To everyone's surprise, the blades don't snap under the massive pressure of the suits or warp under the growing heat inside of the elevator. Nevertheless, another wire snap and a piece of molten steel narrowly missing Carol makes them be hastier in their prying. With the sound of warping and tearing steel, you see the doors of the elevator slowly begin to open up.

Half of the outside opens up to the warehouse area, where air-conditioning and a safer environment await, while the other is a wall of brick and concrete blocking the entrance. A few more rocking shakes and more of molten steel start to quickly move people to the entrance. However, with this much movement, you know something is going to give any second now, and it soon does as you quickly move to the doors.

The entire elevator is in motion once again as the last cable finally snaps, but this time in a very sharp descent. There is a concerted scream from the others, before there is a sudden halt on the elevator's descent. With one foot on the outside and another near the main elevator, you position yourself to hold up the massive metal box with your hand and the stump wrapped in bandages. The pain is excruciating, but you are not going to let this thing go so long as there's people inside.

"Everyone out!", you shout, motioning to everyone in the front.

"Erick, we can't-", Paula contests, but you give her a stern look.

"Don't argue with me now," you reply, looking back at the others, "just go damnit! And be quick about it!"

Once again, it is now or never as you stand halfway from life and death, with only your suit and resilience to match it.

The elevator continues to shake as the others try to scramble to make it out of the entrance way. The sound of bending and twisting metal starts to fill your ears, as does the scalding feeling of growing blisters on your hands. Your foot makes an indent on the floor of the outside as the suits power quantifies your own strength to keep the elevator above your head.

It's not until Maria and Tanjeet step out, that your footing starts to shake as does the elevator with significant force. The sound of bending steel and metal starts getting worse as it feels like a hammer is pounding on top of the elevator, trying to bring it down.

Just as your knees start to buckle, Kurtis comes to your aid and holds up the elevator alongside you, ignoring the pain that made him flinch before. He motions to the others get through, as you and him weather blow after blow from the top of the elevator. As soon as the they clear the entrance, he looks to you.

"Let it go on my signal!", he states, with that pounding of steel still hitting you both, but you nod your head, "Ready? NOW!"

He cranes his head back, and you do the same. In one swift motion, you and Kurtis take one more step outside, and subsequently let go of the elevator. It drops incredibly fast, as you almost fall on your back to see its red-hot metal top fall to the bottom. All the while, you swear your heard a shrill scream as it dropped, with a little red figure on top of it.

Kurtis gives you a helping hand as you pant to catch your breath, and look to see the others doing something similar. While they weren't as physically exerted as you, you figure the amount of heat inside may have taken part of their breath away. Regardless, you all more or less made it to the other side, and to a massive open sprawl of shelves, boxes, cases and hundreds of specimens. You'd almost be astonished by the collection around you, yet the pain in your hands and the mission at hand keeps you from looking around too much.

"The security room should be right behind the last shelf row," Dante speaks up, pointing right of your current position. Let's- "

Chris's form barrels from the cut of your vision and tackles Dante to the ground as a sudden barrage of light cuts through the back of the room. What you can only describe as lasers, cut right through the air and cut into the floor where Dante once stood. Not long afterwards, on top of a large warehouse shelf, you spot three familiar thin figures armed with a spear, an axe, and a rapier. The one with the spear, unlike the other two suits, has a very long white lab-coat on along with a glowing white gem on her forehead.

"This is as far as you go humans," the one with the spear speaks, a faint glow emitting from her weapon, "Turn back now, and I may yet honor Rose's wish of no casualties. We can discuss reparations soon afterwards, of course."

"Why would you guys not want to kill us?" you ask, surprising part of the group, "We got one of you down, I'd imagine that'd me more than enough reason to kill us. Also, kind of hard to not kill people if almost roast them alive in an elevator."

You point your thumb at the open elevator shaft as you do this. She raises an indignant eyebrow at this, and you swear you almost see her flare her teeth. As this happens, the others quickly ready themselves to meet whatever these aliens have coming. Around you, everyone's got a gun trained on the three, but no one seems to be making any sudden moves yet.

"Ruby is a very overzealous individual," the spear alien replies, her spear's tip never leaving its firing trajectory towards you, "as is Jasper and Amethyst, which is why they are assigned as our security. Something our curator, Rose, has specified to not kill, but detain. I will admit though, I'd never expect a human to overcome Jasper."

You go to make another attempt at conversation with this alien, yet you quickly realize that the two other aliens are no longer standing at her side. You can't even see the glow of their weapons as your mind quickly scrambles to figure out where the hell they went. The spear alien notices this change in your vision and quickly backflips behind the large warehouse shelf.

"She's trying to surround us," Kurtis states, looking around the area as well. With the wide open range you guys are in, they would only need to close the distance to slaughter your group.

"How the hell did they even dissapear," Allie says, looking in an equally panicked manner with her gun drawn, "We were all looking at them..."

"Spread out a bit," you state, motioning to the others, "stay near enough to assist but not close enough to get hit by the arc of their swings. I'm going after that spear one."

"We should forget about these bitches," Dante says, looking at his radar, "the security room is not a few feet from us. If we make it there-"

Another laser shot erupts from an undisclosed location in the shelves. This time, Dante ducks himself before they hit and continues looking at the radar.

"Fine then if they want it so bad," Dante continues, then pointing to parts of the warehouse, "The main one is in the central shelves, with all the dinosaur bones, but the others aren't showing up on the radar for some reason."

You nod to Dante and stand up to move towards that position. In your run you see Kurtis, Allie and Paula alongside you, with each of them heading up to a different part of the shelf. If a search and destroy, this might be your best team yet.

<BARE SUCCESS>
<SOUL MATES ACTIVATED>

Though your hands still retain the burning sensation of melting metal, you nonetheless reach for your launcher and ready yourself for the fight to come. Allie and Kurtis take a dive for the other side of the shelves, with Allie dissapearing in her cloak. Paula does this as well, signaling you she'll be close to help out. The others run right behind your initial team, and head to the nearby shelves to look for the aliens. You don't look back towards them, but you start to hear the shouts of fighting and firing from their weapons. You can only hope that they'll be able to handle this fight.

You reach the other side of the shelf when a few laser blasts almost take your remaining arm off, and you see the alien's body almost pirouetting through the shelves, sneaking shots at you. She's ungodly fast, and incredibly nimble in her steps; while you can only dodge so much. You take cover behind some of the storage boxes, trying to get a clear vantage point in which to attack. The alien doesn't let up however, as she seems to pop up out of nowhere on the shelves, attack, and immediately dissapear again.

Kurtis joins you not long afterwards, and he quickly tries to maneuver to your side to cover more ground against the alien. It doesn't last long however as he is also harrowed by shot after shot from the alien's spear, and is made to take cover.

"Damnit," Kurtis curses, trying to find her with the rifle's scope, "how are we supposed to fight something that fast?! Makes me almost wish she would just run up at us."

You would chide Kurtis for making that sort of joke, but he almost gets his wish as the aliens body soon falls from the sky, along with another force on top of her. You and Kurtis quickly spot Allie, trying to pry away that spear from the alien's grasp.

"SHOT HER!" Allie shouts, looking to the two of you, "What are you waiting for?! Shoot-"

Allie's sentence is cut short as headbutt from the alien disorientates her well enough for her to knocked off and for the alien to fire a blast straight to her side, and blowing her through the shelf. Kurtis goes after her, but this gives you enough of an opportunity to fire your launcher right at the alien. With the close range, she has no time to dodge and almost tries to fit through gaps in the net until the anchors deploy around her. You point your gun at her to finish her off, until she swerves her spear to you.

The tip of the spear however, pierces through the net and hits your Launcher, cutting it right it half and almost does the same to your head. The whirring shutdown of the weapon also seems to deactivate the anchors, as the alien has no issues taking off the netting. You quickly reach for your Y-Gun, but her spear goes for your throat in a flash before you do so. Your breathing is still, as you await the inevitable end, until you see the alien's spear stop not an inch from your neck.

That is the second launcher that Pearl breaks. The first one was when she cutted the one Kurtis throwed at her (or was that a x-rifle?)

Maybe if we grab Gantz will ne able to fix it when we get telegraphed

<Continued>

As if held back by some invisible force as she grunts and struggles to pierce your head with the spear. It doesn't happen, as her arm is locked in a painful maneuver and is brought back behind her head. You and the alien catch the glimpse of an electronic buzz as Paula's body emerges from her cloak. With her suit activated, the alien's struggling is completely for naught, as she has her locked in place.

You don't waste any time as you draw your sword and stand up to finish of the alien. There is a twinge of panic and terror in her face as she continues to struggle in Paula's grasp in vain. Wielding your sword, you take a hard slash across the alien's stomach and not a second later, only her torso remains on Paula's arms.

"Rose...I've...failed...", the alien says, as her eyes go blank and her body disintegrates, leaving a large salmon colored gemstone behind. Paula's grip is loosened as the alien's body vanishes. The shouts and sounds of fighting around the warehouse stop not long afterwards, as you take take a deep sigh at your current circumstances, until you remember what happened to Allie. You and Paula quickly head to where she landed, and see Kurtis trying to prop her up.

There is a deep blast wound in her side, like a chunk was seared right out of her. You and Paula help Kurtis pick her up, as her body starts to flinch at every step you take out of the shelves. On the way, you quickly grab that gem the alien left behind and carry it with you, as you are starting to see a pattern with these aliens. Near your arrival point, Tanjeet and Maria are helping those injured in the battle, while you and Kurtis leave Allie with them to head with Dante and Chris at the security room.

After busting down the door, you and your group readies weapons to find a surprising discover. There is no one here, as the room is empty of everything except the monitors and the surveillance equipment. On the monitor, you see a small file that says 'Play Me' on it, which you do almost immediately. It boots up, and a sound graphic follows a young woman's voice on it.

"This is Peridot, network and securities for the Smithsonian," the voice in the message announces, "and I must congratulate you all for making it here, as no doubt it was as a difficult feat. I will however criticize your lack of foresight in not anticipating my absence."

"Did you really think I didn't have a plan B?!", the voice on the computer mocks, and the six of you continue listening, "You are all dead in 10 minutes, you hear me!? I am going to enjoy studying your gear though, off of your stinking corpses!"

The rest of the message devolves into manic, annoying laughter, and Chris wastes no time in shooting the computer. You just shake your head and carry out in destroying the rest of the surveillance equipment with the others. At this point however, you weren't even doing it for the tactical advantage. No, these aliens were legitimately pissing you off.

Sorry to rush this one guys, but I am actually dead on time right now as I am heading to a trip tomorrow and I won't have time to run again this week.

So, here are some things to assume for the next session:

>Claire, Silvia and Allie are injured and recovering with Tanjeet and Maria
>Yukino is with you alongside Paula, Chris, Dante and Kurtis
>I messed up, you have an X-Gun instead of a Y-Gun, consider that typo on my end

Anyways, we will start up part 2 next Friday at 7:00 PM EST.

Again sorry to cut us short, but you guys have been pretty involved this session. Anyways, thank you for sticking with us /qst/, and have a good evening.

Stay tuned for updates on my twitter, as I will be posting stuff for our new artist there.
