The world is mad. This city is mad.

Even as corruption ans sickness consumes every corner of this city, the people still revel in their degeneracy. They dance and dance until they fall into their own grave.

A warm pain spreads on your right cheek and thankfully woke you from your nightmare. The broad man in front of you shook his head," Don't sleep on the job, Sebastian."

Hands were still shaking from fright and cold sweats on your forehead but no headache or memory of the nightmare. Your mind is unstable...again. Now you just need the pills before the headache starts to kick in.

Fingers snapped in front of you, immidiately gaining your undivided attention," Focus, Sebastian. We have work to do." The man grumbles before walking to the building.

Ah right, your job...

That's right... You were working in HomeSweet Medical Institution for the Mentally Insane and an outbreak just occured. Normal people suddenly went insane one day and they were quickly sent here for help. This phenomena is rare in this part of Gotham.

Patient 64: Lisa Pennyfork

Patient exhibit extreme paranoia with the intent of self-harm. Family history and drug test suggest that she have no abnormal nor heritage sickness.

"Remember to keep it safe and neutral, Rookie. Our job is to understand her state of mind, not to sympathize," Your senior, Gart, sighs as he opened the door of Mrs. Pennyfork. White and pristine padded room with a few spots of blood and excrement.

The patient is a middle age housewife with brunette hair and pale skin. Her eyes were bloodshot and covered with wrinkles, signaling that she did not even slept a wink. Her lips were torn from the constant biting, slowly excreting red liquid.

The both of you carefully approached her with the usual greeting," Mrs. Pennyfork?"

She ignored you.

You tried again with a louder voice," Mrs. Pennyfok, My name is Dr. Sebastian and this is Dr. Gart. We are here to help you."

As soon as she heard help, she quickly turned towards you and scream her throat out," PLEASE, PLEASE GET THESE FEATHERS OFF ME! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE."

Your mind is unstable...again.

" Alright. Get her sedated now!"

The orderly quickly came in and inject sedative on the patient while she trashes around, screaming. It took three men to pin her down until the meds kick in while you and your senior exit the place.

It seems the patient's mind create her worst fear, bypassing the mental shutdown that usually buries the fear into her subconcious. Something is making the brain think otherwise...

"Good thing you sedate her. Anymore questions and I will have to intervene," Gart pats your back, breaking your diagnosis."

"Thank you, Dr. Gart," you smile weakly but pain slowly appeared in your head. A headache... you need your pills...

"What do you think of her state of mind, Sebastian?" He asked while guiding you to the staff room.

"Sure. Maybe we can find a clue for this madness eh?" You tried to put on a smile but it came out as a crooked smile. Dr. Gart backed away for a moment.

"Are you alright, rookie?" He asked with a worried tone.

"Y-yeah. Let's get this done so we can have our break," You replied, hiding the growing headache.

Your senior shrugs and quickly guide you to the next patient," if you say so."

A walk through the hall, the two of you made some idle chatters. On the pristine walls of the institute, a bug appeared on the corner of your eyes. A beatle. A small one.

A small beatle on the walls of the institute.

"We are here to help you," You finished, trying to contain the headache.

The pitiful man looks at you like a sick dog, begging to be cured.," Please doc! The scars! Please heal the scars!"

Calmly, you grab his head and slowly stare into his fearful eyes," Scars imply a past wound or trauma. What was it that gave them to you?"

Fear. The cause of all this sickness...

---

You are always my favorite patient, Blake. Your trauma of scars and how it became your phobia was so basic that it became a refreshment for me.
How does it feel to see your own sister being diembowled because of some silly cooking accident? How does it feel to see the organs being shoved back in by your still living sister?
You could've saved her but there you were, frozen like any little boy. The guilt and horror must've been locked neatly inside this head of yours, yes?
Let them out. Take a deep breath and let them out...

A man with glassy eyes and a sack covering his face came to view

Let me see your fear...

(Nice)

You quickly backed away from the patient.

The headace is still there but reduced while you remember clearly the visions. Your mind is stable...for now.

>[Heritage trait revealed: Criminal Empathy. Effect and uses unkown]

You take a few moment to regain your composure,"This..This is not a natural sickness. It is man-made. Fear toxin. That's right! Fear toxin from Scarecrow!"

"DONT SAY HIS NAME! DON'T SAY HIS NAME! AHHH! HE'S HERE!! HE'S HERE!"

Dr. Gart raised his eyebrow before calling the orderlies to sedate the patient and pull you out of the room. With a curious face, he asks," Please explain, Dr. Sebastian."

You quickly speak your diagnosis," It is unnatural. The trauma should be locked inside the subconcious but the patients were conciously seeing their fear. Unless there are other sickness that caused it, they are all healthy people."

"That is a good diagnosis but... I am afraid Dr. Jonathan Crane is already in the newly made Arkham for few months now," He sighs," And we are in the best side zone of Gotham so the chances of those kind of criminals are low."

But you are sure it is the fear toxin.

"Get some rest, Dr. Sebastian. You've earned it," Your senior pats your shoulder and left the hall.

Taking your senior's advice, you quickly go to your office. A small office on the edge of the building filled with books and memorabilia. It's comfortable one at least.

Sitting on your computer, you quickly search for the scarecrow on the internet.

It seems psychologist Jonathan Crane was obsessed with fear and took a position in Arkham asylum. He was also a professor of psychology at Gotham University, specializing in the study of phobias.

Have you seen his face? now, you barely remember your professors...

His M.O usually spread fear toxins in the form of gas which cause the victims to relived their worst nightmare. The symptoms were similar but this strain have bloodshots and wrinkles on the victims...

Additionally, he was imprisoned few months ago and it was before the first patient came in.

This is strange... Did he have a back-up plan? It doesn't seem like him since he love to see the fear of his victims. Maybe you think too much...

Calling a cop might saves you the trouble or visiting the person is indeed in prison should calm you down.

Enough info gathering for today. You need some nap for this headache. Glancing at the bottle of pills on your desk, you shake your ehad and lay down on the leather sofa.

What was that dream? Who was that poor victims?

Who was that man?

You are Sebastian. An orphan that was lucky enough to learn at Gotham U. You are a Psychologhist

Thankfully, your mind is stable...for now.

(few more updates until break time)

Feeling a bit paranoid, you quickly call the GCPD.

"This is GCPD, how can we help you?" The receptionist asks.

"Hello, this is Sebastian from HomeSweet Medical Institution. I would like to report about a symptoms we found that is similar to the Fear Toxin in some of our patients. Just to be sure, the Scarecrow is locked yes?"

"Wait a moment please," and the call let out the usual waiting tune.

Then another person replied your call, this time he have a gruff voice," This is Commissioner Gordon speaking. Are you the one who report about fear toxin and Scarecrow?"

You were taken back by his voice"y-yes?"

"Are you sure about this report?" he asks sternly.

You can already feel a cold sweat on your forehead," y-yeah. I diagnose them myself and research some of his M.O so I am quiet sure...?"

The line went silent for a moment then he speak again," It might be impossible for Crane to be able to spread the toxin from inside the Asylum. Hang on kid, I'll send someone there with the cure."

"Thank you, commissioner," and he close the line.

At least that's that....

"It's not working..." The cop says to the radio after giving the cure to the nurses," The cure is not working."

"What do you mean it's not working? This is the newest batch!" the commissioner barks.

"We don't know sir but the patients still have those...freaky looks," His partner reports.

"Are you sure this is the fear toxin?" The commissioner barks again.

"Well... They are shouting at something. That's for sure," The cop laughs before his partner nudge his side.

"It is the toxin, sir." His parner replied.

"How the heck..." And the line went off as the comissioner grumbles.

Light. Let there be light.

Suddenly the world became white void as you resist the temptation of madness. It is warm and calming. The irritation in your iris and the numbness of your body.

Then the light move away from your eye and into the other eye.

Your mind...is holding and the headache slowly receeded.

"He is stable but still unconcious. There are still movement on his eyes and heart rate are stabilizing" The lovely nurse said as she turned the light-pen off. She... You can't see her face. It is twisted with tumor and her pale skin is covered with dark, pulsing veins.

A familiar voice answers," Thank you, nurse. The experimet should continue normally. My mistake was making his soil his boxers before we even began the treatment. I mean, scared of injection is fine but fainting is overreacting."

A chorus of chuckling from the background... A stealthy glance shows that there were familiar faces smiling at your unfortunate fate.

Your senior colleagues... Almost a dozen of them.

And the leader of this group approaces you...

"Don't worry, rookie. We just gave you a small dose. We should start on the next dose after you woke up," Dr. Gart smiles, face shifting constantly from human to inhuman. It is strangely captivating.

Focus! It seems he didn't know of your conciousness and your body is now unbound. The metal tools is beside you and the door to freedom is just behind him.

"Sir. the authorities are here," another zombie nurse entered the room.

Dr. Gart grits his teeth," Distract them."

The nurse nodded and the doctor scowls at you,"If only you did not call the cops". then he began fiddling the tools again.

You have the advantage!

With a strength you didn't know you have, your hand quickly grab the scalpel and hold Dr. Gart into your other arm. The room collectively gasps and you place the tip of the cold blade on his neck.

"D-don't move! Don't fucking move or he gets it!" You scream, dragging the both of you to the exit.

The seniors seems to froze in fear before laughing and Dr. Gart joins in," Oh you foolish rookie. Do you think your threat scares us? We are the disciples of fear! We are chosen by our mentor to continue his glorious work!"

These guys... they are sick... they are delusional...

They worship the Scarecow and the teaching of Jonathan Crane, their prophet.

This is a cult! A Goddamn cult!

Seeing the futility of your threat, you quickly snagged the syringe full of orange liquid and replace it with the scalpel," Then you don't mind your own treatment, do you?"

"Go ahead! Send me to the path of Madness and fear," He screams with zealous tone. This is not working...not working at all...

"Perhaps your method of threats were wrong, Sebastian," An amused voice spoke. Glancing on your side and back, there are no one...

" The art of threatening is knowing the weakness of your victim and keep breaking his confidence until he is vulnerable," The voice muses...

Wait... this can't be! Your mind is still...holding on!

With quick thinking, you stabbed his neck and inject half of the serum before kicking him to the group. With the cult distracted, you quickly book it out of the room. The outside of the room is a hallway. A dim hallway with many doors, screams, and thankfully, an exit sign.

Without further ado, you bolt to the direction of the exit and ignore any pleas of help from other room..

"That was a mistake," The voice sighs.

Irritated and slowly losing your breath, you grit your teeth," what the fuck does that mean?"

The voice went quiet for a moment before speaking again in a calm voice," You must learn your mistake, my dear student. Like dogs given the stick, you will learn how to be careful and think calmly.

"What the fuck do you mean?" You almost shout before you hear a bang. The door of your room just flew itself on the opposite wall and come out Dr. Gart. Behind him is a mob of nurses and seniors, ready to tear you apart like the Frankenstein Monster.

"Oh shit! The serum!" you gasp, remembering the other effect of the toxin. You can see Dr. Gart moving faster then the mob, eyes glowing bright orange!

Not wanting to know the consequences of getting caught, you ascend quickly.

You began to run faster than before, ignoring any complains from your body. The world seems to be slower and slower while you widened the gap.

"I..." You gulp, trying to resist his intimidating aura while lowering yourself like a defeated dog," I am barely holding myself. there are voice in my head and my co workers are part of a scarecrow cult that were experimenting on patients and myself. Ah! Here is the new strain of toxin."

"They had been dealt with an hour ago," he gently take the syringe and tap his wrist," Hm? A deadlier strain than the usual."

Wait! An hour ago? It felt like seconds!

" Curious. The toxin is already in your blood and judging by your bloodshot eyes and wrinkled face, you should be under its effect but your heartrate and relaxed stance shows otherwise," The bat says, his gaze hardened.

This is strange to you too.

"And the voice in your head. What did it say? What did it commands you to do?"

While he help me by creating hallucinations in order to up my adrenaline response, he also tried to tricked me by using the toxin as a sort of steroid, and let it 'take over'. Possibly benevolent in nature, but far too menacing to risk it" you explained.

The deom bat nod his head, muttering something," PTSD...Probably a multiple personality disorder..."

Suddenly your head flared with headache. Clutching your head, you hold your breath to supress the pain.

" Plan for everything. Plan for expected and unexpected situation. Remain cold-headed," Another voice appeared but with colder tone.

"Dr.Sebastian, are you alright?" The vigilante quickly hold your shoulder.

" Possible Allies. A vigilante. Keep an eye on him," the voice continues while you suffer.

"T-the pills," you croak, pointing at the pillbox," Examine it...please."

The vigilante take a short pause before taking the box. He opened it and look at you questioningly before dumping every pills on his hand.

What is he doing?

"Dr.Sebastian, There is no pills," he said

"W-what?," You shout unable to hear his as a stinging noise assault your eardrums.

"There is no pills"

And you fall into the darkness...

>Epilogue

You woke up in a bright room. A similar padded room like your extreme patients.

The headache is gone but you can feel pain from your throat and limbs. Before long a nurse enter the room and leave as soon as she saw you awake. Before long three people entered the room.

A man with a straight jacket, glasses and complete with bowl haircut

The bat vigilante

A tired old man in trench coat.

"Hello. Hello my dear nephew!" The jolly straight jacket man approaches you with a maddening smile

Who?

"It seems Amadeus wipe his memories before descending to madness," The cold and calm voice of the bat stopped your 'uncle's ' movement.

"He even wipe the family history too. Must've pulled a lot of favors," The sound of the commissioner rings your eardrums.

"W-where?" You croak, gaining attention.

"Why dear nephew. you are home! Welcome to Arkham Asylum, Sebastian Arkham! you will be commanding this mad house! Why? it is your heritage!"

Sebastian Arkham.

Born to the Arkham family. Disappeared after the Mad Dog attack.

Inherted the Arkham Asylum and his grandmother's dementia.

A natural madman and a normal person in the madhouse

Chapter 1: The House of Cards.

The soup and bread you were given was warm and hard but enough to get you recovered from your pathetic state. With the help of a cane, the three of them began a tour around the asylum but mostly your uncle speaking.

The Asylum is cold and dark with the occasion of someone screaming from fear or guilt...maybe both. It was a monsterous stitches of Gothic architecture and Modern design, creating a terrifying maze of madness. An abomination just like Frankenstein's Monster.

"After Bane's rebellion, we have to build the asylum from the scratch but don't worry though, our patients are currently held in Blackgate. But don't worry though! They should be transferred here anytime soon," Your gleeful uncle dances as he walk through the dim and decript hallway.

The first corridor was a familiar sight. The walls and floors were painted white and clean with some few cracks. The room itself is fully furnished with a comfortable space and one bed.

"This is our low level cells for normals. Patients with low agression, recovering criminals and drug addict, and sometimes villains with good behavior. There is a recreation room and small cantine for them there too! Good for them, I say! They are easy to maintain and few people are normal here. Everyone seems to like it here." Your uncle smiles before leading the group to a sturdy metallic door.
"Then we have the meat of our treatment, the Medium Level Cells," With the commissioner placing a card on the scanner, the metallic door hiss and opened. The walk inside is like Dante's first step toward the gates of hell...

Red Light and uncomfortable wrm air atmosphere assault the group but only you flinched. As you passed though the hallway, you realized there are more doors than the low security box and the room size is about 3x3, enought to develeop a clausterphobic trauma. Padded, and complete with straight jackets and restrictioning beds. How do people live in this cages?

You uncle continues, unaffected by the inhuman cages," This is where we store our aggressive, demented, and uncontrolled criminals."

"Doctor..." The vigilante growls, interrupting your uncle.

Your uncle stopped and smiled at the group like a child," Oh yes. 'Patients'. Don't worry, my room is over there." He pointed at the middle metal doors among other metal doors.

>Medium security box (for 40 people)
- The bulk of Asylum's cells.
- Currently look like a personal solitary confinement

"Few questions actually...First: Why in the goddamn hell am I being put in charge of a mental facility based solely on my lineage?! With the shit I'm going through, I should be a fucking patient in an asylum, not running one! This can't possibly be legal!" You let out your frustration but none of them flinched or even surprised.

"It is legal. We have proofs that you are mentally fit for duty and your uncle signed the papers," The Commissioner pulls a paper from his coat. It is legitimate with the signature of Jeremiah Arkham, the chief administrator of this place. The admin smiles at you while you are horrified.

The vigilante continues," Additionally, it seems you have a natural resistance to psychological attacks. I have traced your history and medical condition. Your recessive trait and the childhood trauma suggests that you are technically insane but your father did something to you that made you rational than most of the patient here. You might be able to help these people here while resisting their insanity."

"In other words," your uncle interrupts," You are already a patient here, just with different clearance. Two birds, one stone."

They are prepared and it seems they really want you to stay here.

"Alright. Alright. Do I have a retirement plan?" You asks, hoping to tone down the seriousness.

Only the commissioner chuckles," If you survive."

Gee, thanks Commissioner.

Then you quickly switch to a more professional tone,"What are your thoughts on making a much milder version of the Fear Toxin for psychiatry? Possibly getting Crane's cooperation?"

"NO!" The bat barks," You should never ask for their cooperation or their tools. These selfish villains will stab you in the back the moment you take your eyes off them."

The other two just shurgs but a big no from the vigilante.

"Alright, time for the main attraction!" He grins and lead the group to a larger and sturdier metal door. Batman swipe a card while the commissioner place a finger and his eyes on seperate scanners. The door hiss loudly and creaks as it tries to lift itself open. On the other side is an african american security guard with a silver hook for a hand.

"Meet Captain Aaron Cash. Chief Security," the commissioner announced.

"Pleasure to meet you, Mr Arkham. You look a bit green," He says while offering a handshake with his meaty hand. His grip is damn strong!

With that, he lead the group to the maximum security cell.

The cell is wide enough but the entrace wall are made out of glass. It's like watching an animal in the zoo! These patients are stripped bare of their privacy!

"now, now nephew. This design is much more safer than the old rooms. We can observe and gain more data this way. Plus, our psychiatrists are safe from their clutches while we do our job.

" As the new admin, I must remind you that some criminal- I mean patients need a custom containment like Mr. Freeze or...Croc," The captain shivers as soon as he mentioned Croc. You can feel fear oozing from him.

Wait... Your head...It hurts again...

" For now we have Jonathan Crane AKA Scarcrow," The group passed a cell containing a thin man with malice in his eyes, sitting on the corner.

"Good evening. It seems we have a new blood here. I can smell his fear already," The Scarecrow jeers.

That voice! You know it! It is similar to the first voice but with more malice!

>-1 sanity (3/6)

"Hm? Why the strange face? Come closer so I can examine you..." Crane stood up, shuffling closer to the glass wall.

"Ignore him," Cash frown before going to the next cell," This is Pamela Lillian Isley AKA Poison Ivy. She is contained in an air tight cell so her pheromone will not corrupt the doctors."

"Why so harsh, Cash?" An alluring lady in green slowly walked toward the glass, a slight pink mist from from body.

" Back away from the glass, Ivy!" Cash shouts.

The Medical facility is large enough to hold 10 people while most of the room is filled with medical cabinet from medications.

Surprised by the effect of the pills, you quickly ask the Dr. Gregory," What is in these pills? aspirin?"

The deoctor looks at you with a stone face and raised eyebrow," What pills?"

Slowly your eyes widened before Cash warns him," Doc, Stop messing with the newbie especeially your new boss. ."

The doctor guffawed with his laughter echoing the room, "Gahahhaahhaha! I can't believe it worked. Look at his face!"

None of the group are amused and it took him few minute to calm himself," It's a placebo. i got more if you want."

" Thank you doctor but we are busy," Cash quickly dragged the group away from the fat doctor.

But how did the placebo work? How did they reduce your headache?

Before you know it, you are in the staff room. The room is adequate enogh to hold around 50 people with some spare bedroom, hospital style. Peeking at the bedroom, they have 10 beds with some of them being messy. Vending machine, coffee maker, mini kitchen, and fridge is there for the staff to use. However, it seems most of the staff here are grumbling about how the day will be stressing or how the don't like the food.

>Staff room (lvl 1)
- Can hold around 50 staff members
- have minimal comfort
- Have 10 beds but sometimes they were not made after used.
- Staff moral: Abysmal.

Then a woman with long hair entwined by red ribbons came to the group. An experienced psychiatrist judging by the way she looks at you, examining every movement. Cash noticed her," This is-

" Alyce Sinner, Jeremiah's protege," A cold and professional introduction.

"Ah, I am-"

She quickly cuts you off," Sebastian Arkham. The heir of this Asylum and the new Director. yes, we know who you are but after eading your profile, there is something that I wish to check."

She came closer, taking a good look at your expression and body language. The smell of rose enveloped your nostrils.

He then stopped, hitting her chin with the pen she's holding," Strange. For a man with Multiple Personality Disorder,PTSD, and a possible schizophrenia, you look normal. What makes you think you are not a ticking bomb like your uncle here?"

"I-"

"I believe him," this time the vigilante interrupts you," he have the capability to do great thing."

"Sure..." Cash rolled his eyes.

The bat ignored him and focus on you," Tell me, Sebastian. Why did you not kill Dr.Gart whne you have the chance? Why give me the fear serum? WHy did you throw the pot, saving the officer's life? You have no obligation to do those things."

>You answer, Dr sebastian?

>Such is humanity, plage by the sickness they called Insanity. Your father vowed to cure them..who was your father? Why do you barely remember his face?
"I came here to help others so they wouldn't suffer what I had to. Dr. Gart was mentally ill, like all the patients here. Killing him wouldn't solve anything, and only perpetuate the cycle. Despite my misgivings, you were one of our best bets. I wanted to face my fear, I spent too much of my life in it and lost so much to it."

The bat seems to be satisfied with your answer, along with the four people of your group.

Wait...four? Are you seeing things?

You caught a glimpse of an old man smiling at you before he disappeared, along with the rest of your headache. You actually fely great right now.

>+2 sanity(4/6)

" He still have his rationality even with the influence of the fear toxin. I am sure he can survive the job," the bat gaze at your uncle for a moment before turning back to the woman.

if there is anger or annoyance, Alyce did not show it. Her professional facade seems to be a tight mask," Then as soon as he lose his mind and became like our patient, I will personally file his registration as a patient and lock him myself." Then she left... just like that. It seems she does not approve your rise as the new director of this facility.

Finally, the group went to the security room. With another scanner and card swipe, the group was greeted with the securities playing cards and taking things easy like common street thugs. Annoyed, Cash bang the door and the guards surried away like rats and cockroaches.

" Must be because we have few prisoners," The chief security tried to reason before showing the security room.

Cameras, alarm, armory, and control panels with strict schedule planner plastered on the wall. This room is much more funded than the other facility.

>Security room (lvl 2)
- Complete with non-lethal weapons, stun batons, and body armor.
- They have camera and can control most of the doors from here.
- They have good patrol schedule and protocol in case a riot broke out.
- Security guard quality: poor.

With all the tour done, your uncle went back to his cell while the commissioner and vigilante exit the building. Cpt. Cash was kind enough to show you your room. A simple office with mohagony table and leather chair, shelves containing mental illness and remedies, and an old computer. The chief of security left you alone to make yourself familiar and as you sat on the chair, there is a paper on the table.

'A welcoming present. Think of this as your inhertance."

An account number and a bank note....Oh... that's a lot of zeroes.

>Gain 8 cash.

After a few hours, you heard a knock and they came in with your permission. Dr. Gregory, Dr. Alyce, and Cpt. Cash. the head of each department.

"So...how can i help you?" you asks, still confused about their sudden appearance.
>>
>>2704662
Dr. Gregory was the first to speak," Since the Asylum is ready to open, we need you to make a decision for this month's project. Sorry but time is not with us"

Alyce nods," The sooner we end this meeting, the quicker we resume our duties."

With a sigh, you followed them to the meeting room. A simple room with oval table and plenty of chairs. As soon as the staff became comfortable, Cash take the first stage," Director, we need to quickly build the special containment unit first. Abnormal priso- Patients are the most difficult cases to deal with."

Alyce was next," While I agree with Mr. Cash, I say we prioritize the construction of our own research lab in order to adapt to our patient's chaotic nature."

Lastly, Dr. Gregory," I think we need more staff. Being understaffed is hard enough, especially taking care of these kind of patient. Everycay we might exceed our capacity to deal with certain cases."

While you take in their opinion, you also remember the cells of the medium and maximum security level. They are way past cruelty and more like rabid animal shelter, keeping human in cages like animals.

> You have 11 cash to spend (+3 for the montly budget)

>Demolish and rebuilding the medium cells- 5 cash
This will make sure the medium security patients have comfort and treatment they need, increasing the chance of rehabilitation

>Build special containment cell- 3 cash
This help contained special patients like croc, Mr, freeze, manbat, and so on.

>Build research lab- 4 cash
This will open a tech tree for dealing with our patients efficiently

>Hire staff ( Need to get 3 staff for optimal workforce):
- Cheap staff - 2 cash
- trained staff- 4 cash
- Professional staff- 6 cash

Each level of staff will increase security and morale.

>Improve facility:
-Staff lvl 2 - 2 cash
Increase the comfort of our staff, making them loyal and effective

- Securty lvl 3- 4 cash
Lower the chance of riot and supression

- Medical lvl2 -2 cash
Can now perform surgeries fro heavy injuries

(have fun planning your Asylum and also post what building you want to build and I will think about it)
>>
>>2704694

For reference in case you ahve your own idea:

Basic building cost 4 cash unless they have specialized function

Building cells cost 3 cash unless they have specialized function

Specialized staff will cost 5 cash unless they are special like TYGR force (SWAT like force)
>>
>>2704694
>Demolish and rebuilding the medium cells- 5 cash

>Build special containment cell- 3 cash

From my point of view, if we want to guarantee the financial wellbeing of this institution, we need to show results quickly, either by storing dangerous criminals that would bring the attention and funding of the authorities and a good rehabilitation record for the medium security patients.

While, this is not optimal, I would suggest trying to bring interns to deal with menial work, ensuring experienced people can deal with patients. They wold, of course, be forbidden from the maximum security level.

We want to increase chance of rehabilitation, and they're already in the cells.
-Staff lvl 2 - 2 cash
More morale means easier to recruit more staff, negotiate pay, and keep them long enough for them to upgrade themselves. Works around the lack of intern appeal.

Increases chance of rehabilitation, possibly lets us find our own upgrades or designs at a discount.

Infrastructure improvements typically have more long-term benefits than simply hiring more people. Our budget isn't in danger anytime soon, we're already at rock bottom.

You can try those actions but it would be a beaucratic nightmare. GCPD can try to support you by temporary holding those patients in their jail for a specific period of time. You might want to try increasing relationship with GCPD.

The meeting room is silent for a second and they look at you with weariness and...pity?

"It is not required. As long as we can help them and studied their affliction, their habitat is not our focus," Dr. Sinner says with cold tone. The rest seems to agree with her, making you looks like a nepotism boss that do not know ho the system works here...which is almost true.

These people have more experience in the Asylum than you and they agreed with inhuman treatment? You hav heard about the horrible rumors of Arkham Asylum but never thought it to be true.

You move on," Next agenda is improving our staff faculty and building research lab. God knows you guys need more boost than this minimal treatment stuff. In any case, I want you guys to look for interns and send their files to me. I will appraise them myself."

The head depatments looks at each other then nod before leaving the room.

Cpt. Cash was the last to leave," Good job, kid. It's been so long since we treat these people as human than test subject. I'll handle the Intern and construction company."

oh yeah (+1) for both male head.

Also I remember a good system from Prison Architech Grading System.

>New Arkham Asylum

-Reputation (-10): Villain dumping ground (WIll offer more dangerous Patients than low level patients.)

>Patient System:

>Low level Patient
-Government will give you 0.5 cash for every new low level patient and will give 0.5 more upon rehabilitation.
- Easier to rehabilitate and much more submissive.
- Rehab will not give you a lot of rep

>Medium level patient
- Government will give you 1 cash for every patient and will give 1 more upon rehabilitation.
- Are a bit harder to rehabilitate and can injure your staff.
- some are more dangerous than other but not warrant enough reputation for the Max cellblock. Keep an eye on them.
- Will give you a good rep for every successful rehab.

>Max level Patient
- Government will give you 3 cash for every new low level patient and will give 1 cash/month as long as they are still locked here.
- Almost impossible to rehabilitate and can injure your staff.
- These patients can also kill, turn staff against you, and cause riot.
- Rehabilitating one will gave you a special reward.
- high bonus for rep

>Goverment program
- Asylum Funding (+3 cash/month)
this is the minimum funding they can give you. Improve the reputation and they might add more.

Total funding (+5/month):
(Gov. program+ 2 supervillain)

Criticism is welcomed for the system. it is still a working progress.

Ah right!

Upkeep (-2):

-Fixed cost (wages, electricit, water, special needs): -2

-Variable cost (food, equipment, drugs): 0 (since we basically have only 3 patients (Uncle, scarecrow, ivy))

Balanced budget (+3):
( Total funding - upkeep)

Is this sufficient? I dont want to crack open my big fundamental of accounting right now
>>
>>2705641
its 3/m base and 2*1/m for ivy and scarecrow who we have imprisoned currently
>>
Imagine if we managed to actually cure one of the more severe cases here? Like say helping Crane get over his childhood trauma, or having Ivy take less extreme environmental plans.

Of course we can just keep taking in Low and Medium Level Patients, fixing them up... it sucks though cause the moment they're cured our cash goes down and our upkeep catches up. Could we ask for something like a Patronage from say, Wayne Enterprises? They're into fixing the mentally unstable right?
>>
>>2705653

But the reward will be great, I assure you. Plus, you will have good rep for yourself and your family (Arkham Asylum.)

Sure you can ask wayne for patronage but you might need to increase your rep first. Result is important if you want to have outside help.

Anyways let's me get ready for your first week
>>
Rolled 5 (1d20)

>>2705601

>Week 1:

Already you can hear the construction workers breaking and building the asylum...your asylum. It's a bit weird that one day you were a victiom of a dangerous cult and the next you were the heir of Arkham. This is something out of a cartoon show yet everything felt so real. You dont even have your usual headache anymore except checking out the max level patient. Crane is still avoiding you while ivy is curious about you.

The glimmering though from your stable mind told you that this is your home while other thoughts scream that this is a stranger's land. Still, you might want to explore these grounds and maybe you can uncover your past.

Or you can spend time with your staff or your patients. They might tell you how things work here. You might also want to call the Mayor's office and infor them that you're ready to receive patients. that should increase your cash for a while.

But if you wish to be a responsible person, you can check the construction crew for progress.

>Choose 2 action

First thing first, you dial the Mayor's office.

A cute voice picked the call," Mayor's office, how may we help you?"

Feeling nervous, you tried your best to be professional," This is Sebastian...err Arkham. I am calling to annouce that Arkam Asylum is ready to take patients but since we are currently remodeling the the Medium Security Cell, we can only offer to take low level patients."

There is silence on the other side and a single sentence," Oh..."

Oh? What the heck?

Sound of click and clack was heard then the voice returned," It is done, Sir. Your patients will arrive next week and we pleade you to quickly open more room for 'other' patients. Good day."

Wow... she just closed the line...How rude...

> Arkham Asylum is officially open. You will have your first official patient next week.

With your official work done, you take the opportunity to walk around your supposed property.

Outside is not as bright as you thought. Dead vegetation with old gothic buildings appeared as if this whole island is abandoned
, save for the yellow light from the window. This is a bit creepy and more like a sanitorium than asylum. There are also other buildings on the edges of the property and the sight of Gotham City across the water as if mocking you from afar. Mayhaps a plan to expand and add gardener might livened up this horrid place.

> A new building to explore ( Botanical Garden)
> Fixing the outer lawn ( 5 cash)
This will increase the Asylum's rep as well as other things.

Then something caught your eyes. A familiar sight in the stranger's land.

A beetle surrounded by words etched on the very stone of Arkham.

A Chronicles... of Arkham.

A voice.... A voice appeared.... not of thhe young Jonathan Crane nor the Cold beast...No.. this is older...much more familiar...Every cell inside you knew the voice but every figment of imagination shred the image of the man itself...

Then the voice sang...in it's wraithful tone.

'I am the spirit of Amadeus Arkham. Through my actions, I have saved this cursed city, though my own curse is to forever remain in the shadows. My story is carved into the very soul of Arkham and will only be revealed to those dedicated enough to discover it.'

It carved deep into your mind, carefully dissecting your psyce....

>-6 Sanity (0/6)

'It seems the prodigal child have returned but his ability is yet to mature. Here you will find my journal and stories. Here you will find your past. Find me and I shall reveal you our secret and your true inhertance'

It throbs! It claws! It infect! It opens!

A deep pain resurfaced.... and the world is shifting...deep...into the void.
..deep into the void...

You are home...

>Criminal Empathy revealed (lvl 1)

I personally hope to turn this Asylum into a much more friendly environment. My one question is, how do you plan to handle break-outs? Like, will their frequency correspond to the level of our security force or as a result of low morale? Plus, what do WE do when they inevitably come for us?

>Medium level patient
>-Government will give you 0.5 cash for every new low level patient and will give 0.5 more upon rehabilitation.
Low and mid-level patients don't give monthly income, so rehabilitating them is more profitable.
>>2705657
If there's truly no more patients left, then we've fulfilled our job and can diversify into another business like cooking. We can leverage our rep with getting things done as a good indicator of success with different businesses.

>>2705398
>Might be a bit beyond our scope to take on the big leagues when we can't even deal with the little leagues.

>Would providing a classification for that allow for greater funding for the more dangerous patients we already had that were miscategorized?

Yeah, Commissioner Gordon will be pleased with that AND you can create a countermeasure to add bonus when dealing with them
>>
>>2706406
Sane, let me say that this quest is fucking bonkers. It´s off to a good start, the prologue is interesting, a decent cast of characters have been introduced and I really want to interact with all of them, as well as make Arkham a proper mental healthcare facility.

Basically, I am hyped. Keep the the tension rising, never let us get entirely comfortable and you will make for the based QM you are set up to be YOU DAMM KULAK .

Now for the quest itself:

-I will try to create soon a word document where we can try to list off all the things that could go wrong (infiltration, sabotage, riot, finalcial problems..etc.). Security isn´t absolute, but every precaution we take is another obstacle in our oponents path.

-I feel like we also should classify our voices according to agenda and traits. That way, we can get out more of them.

Now for the game part, I have come up with two ideas.

First is making sure that the patients get out of here not only with their mind functioning, but also with a roof over their heads and a job. Our responsability doesn´t end when the patients go through our doors. Perhaps, we could tike a deal with job agencies to have the minimum level patients learning some trade and gainin a little money, or install a workshop in Arkham.

-Also, we could try to convert the garden into a soccer field and try to form a league with staff and patients. Sport helps bring down tenssion and agression levels, as well as develop a team spirit valuable in society. I would support establishing a custom such as rugby´s, where opposing teams have a meal together after each match.

-An interesting vid about problems in modern day America mental healthcare, so we can try to avoid pitfalls.

Shit now that I am reviewing the thread we didn´t check the construction. This might be too paranoid, but someone might have installed tunnels, explosives or something like that.

Hopefully they are a respectable company and can use them exclusively for future projects.

My sides have just gone into orbit anon

But really, mr freeze is a tough nut to crack. He went into villainy to gather money to save his wife´s live. He is supposed to be a brilliant researcher, but the condition of his wife was so rare (maybe even unique) none wanted to fund the cure.

Villainy was a means to an end to him, and as a normal researcher he is nlikely to gather enough funds to fund the cure for his wife. Maybe he could be shown that his wife wouldn´t have approved of his ways but if he renounces to his villainy it would be like forfeiting the life of his wife while there is still hope.

Perhaps we might be able to help him patent his absurdly advanced research on cooling to make enough money to help his wife. Though this carries the question, why hasn´t he done it yet?

You know how many characters don't take the practical option in fiction? Especially superheroes and supervillians? Chances are this is the case. Mr. Freeze was so caught up in ways to get up as much money as possible while hiding it, he forgot he actually had a legitimate product.

Imagine you are in your bed and ready to sleep. You can feel your body relaxing and eyelids heavy. The bugs were buzzing and the moonlight shone through your open window, letting a cold night breeze.

Then you blink.

The scene changes. Early birds chirping, crunching on the last night bugs. The sunlight slowly changing their shape as the sun rise sky high.

You could have sworn that it was night a second ago...

>Week 2

After talking a stroll on around the island, you are suddenly back at your office and the date have changed. Your muscles complains of the tiredness but your mind is clean. They are fresh as the mountain dew.

>Sanity increased (7/7)

Walking to the staff faculty, the security and orderlies greets you as you walked by. It is as if you were their close friends. WHile this might seem beneficial, it worries you.

What the hell happened?

You do not know. your memory is gone, blank as a fresh sheet of white paper.

Everything still functioning as you chew the salad but...What the hell happened in the last few days?

Going back to your office, Dr. Sinner approaches you with a begrudging respect," The patients are here...sir."

Sir?

"O-oh. Send the report to my office," you quickly act, riding the flow. She nodded and went her way.

This is too bizzare...

If you want double shift: I can offer you 1 extra action/ 2 health. Only once/ week.

Your current health is 10/10. the only way to recover is to use 1 action for resting.

Do you guys want to use doubleshift?

Let´s check that fuking construction crew. Maybe call on Gordon to help.

Cracking your knuckles, you sit on your chair and began working. As you read one by one, there is something nagging your mind...

HALF OF THIS ARE FRAUDS

Who the hell named their son Facey McFace? Even doublechecking on google or registration provided nill result. Someone even post a dead guy as their profile picture. Wait... is that a cat?

What the fuck?! how the heck did they managed to get these people inside?

You tossed half of them down the trash while looking at more promising ones.

Christ... this is too much for you...

>New goal (0/100)

Feeling more paranoid than before, you began calling the GCPD for formality and the receptionist answered," GCPD, how may we help you?"

"This is Dr. Sebastian. May I talk to Commissioner Gordon for Background checking?"

The line went on hold and after a minute, the receptionist answered," We are sorry but the commissioner is busy today. I can make an appointment for next week or do you want another officer? Officer McCreed is experienced in background checking.

This is quite unfortunate, but beggars cannot be choosers. Let´s do a background check with him and hope for the best, we cannot waste another day. Also mention that we are looking for a new HR head, hopefully with experience in background checks and basic HR training (labor disputes, events...etc.). Optimally, it should be someone that has worked in or with the police. Call us if you have any suggestions.

There are still some work but you will leave that for later. For now, you check on the new patients.

The patients looks much more better than when they stayed in HomeSweet and some of them are familiar. Even Mrs. Pennyfolk is here.

"Dr.Arkham," the voice of Dr. Sinner quickly caught your attention," Checking on the new patient?"

"Yes, Dr. Sinner," You answer professionally.

" We have diagnosed that most have PTSD from the Fear Toxin but we have the available medicine for that. There is no need for extra treatment, only time," She concluded her analysis. "Sir! No, Dr. Arkham sir," The guard quickly salute.

"Who are you, hm?" The worker rudely asked.

The walk is bearable for now but you quickly rush to your uncle, occassionally using the wall for support. Finally you've reached his room, already placed on the lower security.

Sure. I can give you 5 max issue to discuss with
>>
>>2708136
Well, I might not be online for next week, so I will cast my vote now. Hopefully, we will get a high event so we don´t have to be paranoid.

Actions for next week
-Finish up with those dammed interns an collect info about posible heads of HR from Gordon
-Meeting with all department heads:
*First issue: We will ask one by one, what happened last week, starting from Sinner.
*Second issue: Money and how to spend it. How much time can we delay the acceptance of new high level patients, before they are forced onto us?
*Third issue: Possible candidates for a position in HR. Desirable qualities, in order: Good skill at background checks, better if police trained; a good mediator and finally, someone who can act as liason between Arkham and other groups (press, town hall.etc.) How much funds would cost the head of HR?
*Fourth issue: Ask about their experiences in Arkham and about how previous directors took care of eveything. Why do they think that Arkham was and is such an unstable organization and how can we prevent glaring mistakes?
*Fifth issue: (Sinner only) Dr. Sinner, while I have to admit you might be the best prepared mental health profesional in Gotham City, I fear you focus more on the illnesses our patients have instead of on the patients themselves. I won´t ask you to be their friend, but several studies have shown that a pleasant enviroment accelerates recovery and enviroment can be easily achieved by showing the patiens you care about them as individuals. Try to refer to them more casusally, interest yourself in their well-being and listen to them even if what they are talking about is not directly relevant to their recovery, within reasonable limits of course. The new interns will be coming son, and in the off chance some decide to stick with us I would rather they don´t think of Arkham Asylum as a prisión.

The rest of the week was a nightmare as they halted the construction process. They don't even let you get a good night sleep.

Whatever that laughter was, you need to avoid it at all cost. The feeling of it ripping your mind like a careless kid ripping a sticker. It quickly broke your mind into pieces. That chaos is an anathema for your order.

You need some sleep but there is no rest for the wicked.

>Health (8/10)

It seems you were right about sending Cash to sweep the workers. He is a bit merciless but he get the job done. Out of 100 construction workers, 10 was arrested brutally for impersonating and killing workers. They found the body the next day, bloated and some of it missing from the fish bites.

>Roll 5 event revealed

It seems someone want to make a headstart, placing his goons to sweep the area. It was only lucky that you found them. They did alter some planning and digging a small tunnel but they are being sealed as the day passes.

It's a nightmare but the construction company hold no responsibility for them, claiming they are a victim too. At least they are resuming the construction again with your guards eyeing them cautiously.

One thing you know is that the thug you stabbed is still here. You can either interrogate him personally, get someone to do the deeds, or get him to GCPD.

Whatever it is, you have much work to be done.

>Intern paperwork cleared
> 1 staff will be gained next month for 3 month.

Checking your mail, the commissioner have not sent any possible candidates yet. Hopefully he will next week.

With your job done, you began calling the heads for a meeting and they comply. Taking your time to the meeting room, you can see the medium cells being widened and larger than the cages you saw before. A burst of pride on your chest, knowing that this small changes will help your patients.

As you entered the room, your three head department awaits.

You greet them with a tired smile,"Thank you all for coming. I know this seems rushed but we have to discuss the future of this asylum"

>First issue: We will ask one by one, what happened last week, starting from Sinner.

"Before we start there is something I wish to discuss. It's err.... about the first week we are here. I kinda forgot what happened in week 1... I mean I forgot to write it in my diary," you put on the best goofy smile you had and the staff just sigh.

"Dr. Sinner?" and the spotlight went to her.

Dr. Sinner: Well 'sir'. When we met after our initial meeting, you've returned from your stroll with a 'satisfied' face. Your body language shows familiarity and confidentiality, as if you knew this island all your life. We spoke of psychiatry and we were discussing about the old method of Pavlov. i do not know why you're interested in that basic concept but it seems you are 'passionate' about it.

Dr. Dumbell: Well... We went for a drink, remember? Of course not! That wine you brought for us was divine! I recall it was 1880 vintage from the old Gotham winery. I hope you remember the hidden stash because i do not mind drinking that stuff again.

Cpt. Cash: Lucky you guys got his good side. What we saw when you visited the maximum patients was not...nice. You were there, silent and staring past the glass. Those eyes are dark and freaky. No offense, sir. Then you left the room with a not 'nice' smile. The patients were disturbed by that too.

Sr. Sinner: It is our primary objective that berserking super-patients are secured they will not harm others. The city council will send high level patients here as soon as they are captured and receive their verdict. Pray that the city is calm.

Cpt. Cash: Not only it serve as an isolation cell, it is also serve as a punishment and containment for the deadly. They are the most safest cell we have.

Dr. Dumbell: Lad, I know you want this to be an asylum but sometimes we have to contain them first and let them simmer. They are also expensive and top of the line tech (10 cash). But remember to get more staff!

Dr. Sinner: Agreed, we need researchers after the research building is done

>Third issue: Possible candidates for a position in HR. Desirable qualities, in order: Good skill at background checks, better if police trained; a good mediator and finally, someone who can act as liason between Arkham and other groups (press, town hall.etc.)

Cpt. Cash: Old Joe is going to retire soon. I bet Commissioner Gordon will send his profile to you. That man is a great speaker and a good man. Get him fast before he change his mind.

>Fourth issue: Ask about their experiences in Arkham and about how previous directors took care of eveything. Why do they think that Arkham was and is such an unstable organization and how can we prevent situatons like last week´s?

They all went quiet.

Dr. Sinner: Your uncle was a respectable man and he let the doctors studied the maximum security patients through the glass wall. His priority was to contain them first and study their mindset. And that is waht we do before you came. Contain and study.

Cpt. Cash: Arkham Asylum is the dumping ground for all the crazies, especially the clever bastards. You can't prevent them, only contain them. They always have plan, that's why I want you to invest in security.

Dr. Dumbell: Don't forget the medical department. We can barely save people when we don't have proper equipment

>Fifth issue: (Sinner only) Dr. Try to refer to them more casually, interest yourself in their well-being and listen to them even if what they are talking about is not directly relevant to their recovery, within reasonable limits of course. The new interns will be coming soon, and in the off chance some decide to stick with us I would rather they don´t think of Arkham Asylum as a prison.

Dr. Sinner: Duly noted.

After what seems hours of discussions, you are satisfied with the meeting," Thank you for-

Suddenly the door slam open and one of the high level guard approaches," Sir! We have an emergency! We are under attack!"

>Rolled 2 Event interference!

Cpt. Cash curses," Get the alarm now! You all, get to safety!"

The alarm blares with the siren and the red light covering the island. Who is the world is attacking?

Then you heard the sound of a woman with megaphone shouting," Yohooo~ I am baaack! You folks missed me? I sure don't but puddin is in a badd mood because SOMEONE MESSED WITH HIS PLANS!"

You swallowed hard. That's you...

"Gets me the one responsible and y'all might be spared," The demand ended with the sound of something getting crushed.

Shit! Shit! Shit!

"Dr. Quinzel! you don't need to do this! We can talk about this like old times!" Cpt. Cash shouts on the microphone while looking at the outside camera feed. three vans are blocking the exit and ther are a lot of thugs too...almost two dozens.

The madwoman replied like a friend," Aww Cash, is dat you sweetums? Sorry but you know I hate to see my Puddin sad. You will know it when you got a pardner, Cash."

Doctor... wait a minute..

"Doctor Quinzel?" You look cautiously at the staff and the tried to escape it except...

"Dr. Harleen Quinzel was our new psychiatric intern assigned to Joker. Suffice to say she was corrupted and became fixated with the joker. It seems she have Stockholm Syndrom, Obsession with Joker, naive, masosch-"

You hold you hand up, interrupting her,"Wait...hold on. Are you telling me she is a former intern of this asylum?"

She went quiet for a while"....yes."

"Wait, you a newblood? Wadda ya want?" She became impatient.

"Please have a seat. I'm assuming you're here about the secret tunnel that I prevented from being finished?"

"YEA! GET READY FOR AN ASS WHOPPIN, DORK!" She suddenly screams. Mood swings?

" Violence is never a solution. I am sure we can talk about this" You plead.

Calm.

Breathe. Calm. Do not let panic sets in. Emotions are fogs that disturbs the mind.

Analyze. Adapt. Overcome.

A girl lifting the sledgehammer her size. Hidden muscle. Flexible. Dangerous

20 men excluding the girl. Half armed with handguns. Half with melee weapons. Muscles indicates danger if fighting face to face. Suicidal. Hive mentality. Danger.

This body. Lanky and no definite strength for fighting. Recommend deadly arsenal.

"Sir are you al-"

Allies. Sacrifical lambs or back up. Depend on moral compass.

"I am fine," You grunt," What is our equipment?"

" We have handguns, riot gears, and shock batons but they are limited to 6 people." Then he hesitated for a second.

Curious.

"And?"

"And...errr, I nicked two teargas in case we deal with riots," he says bashfully.

Hmm... Good.

Advatage: Handgun, riot gears, shock baton, and 2 tear gas. 10 security trained for maximun level security. Doubtful they can take the enemy.

Disadvatage: Unpredictability, number, and close combat. Exit is closed.

Area: Old building and clear ground.

Formulating plans.

> Gas Box: Bait them into the building then ambush them there. However, they might know this basic trick.

> Pray and spray: Use the teargas outside then randomly shoot everyone. High level of critical injuries.

> Take the Queen: Duel with Quinzel. Shock her as soon as she lift her hammer then incapacitate her limbs by shooting or stabbing. Need the right timing. A gamble but with high return.

High risk. High reward. No risk of patients or staff being injured.

A positive moral compass. Weakness.

" Cpt. Cash. I need your gear and armory," You ordered.

Everyone looks shocked. FInally the man answered,"Why?"

"I intend to meet her demands. One death can spare the staff. Get me the riot gear."

"Dr. Arkham, this is crazy," He tried to reason. Not enough discipline. Note to self: Dock his paycheck.

"This is an order. Cpt. Cash," You repeate the order with much more gruff tone.

He still refuse," No! This is suicide. I will be da-"

"He is right. One death can spare all," Dr. Sinner agreed with you but her eyes shed no compassion. A machiavellian type and it seems she have her own agenda. You are her obstacle. Clever girl

"Bu-"

"Dr. Campbell, prepare for emergency surgery. Cpt. Cash, time is wasting." Finally he nodded. He lead you to the armory while the others do their tasks.

The captain helped you donned the gear while the team watches. It is heavy and might impede your movement.

"There. You know, Sebastian? This is the most insane shit i have seen in my life. Just becareful alright?"

Altruism? Weakness

"Duly noted," You grunted.

Electric baton. Hidden near the arm.

4 handgun on your right side. Holstered and hidden.

Hide armor with you doctor coat and pants.

Pen on chest pocket for easy access.

You are ready.

Survival rate: 45%

Walking to the target, she's still counting like a child.

"76...89..100! ready or..oh! You came! Ya make a girl happy, Doctor," The target smiles sweetly while coming close with her sledgehammer. She is close but not enough reach for the baton.

Then the target made a childish pout," Ahh. Blue eyes and brown hair? that's a good combo! Shame that I have to do THIS!" She suddenly pulled a small machine gun. An uzi. Pointed at your legs.

It is imperative that you do not move or the whole plan is gone. The damage will be superficial

>Stay still

You slumped down, unable to stand.

Acceptable setback.

She is close. You can smell her. So close that you can shocked her.

Her face, too close. Too easy."Aww... why are you lookin like that? I HATE THAT LOOK!,"

Hand on the gun. Safety-off .

Lifting her hammer, she thought she have the last laugh," Now open wide, big boy. Hammer time!!"

Now!

"No."

A small grin on your face as you pull the gun and press the trigger.

The target is unable to move from shock and momentum. Half for her left thing and half for her other. Three bullets ludges on her two thights.

Screaming, she lost momentum and fall. You quickly stab the baton on her bloody wound and delivered the electric theraphy. Weakened, you take the chance to dislocate her right arm with the butt of the gun and use a fresh gun to deal with the other.

The goons were still flabberghasted as you locked her neck on your left and jam the pen just underneath her neck, near her spine.

" Move and she will be crippled for life," you growl, causing the goon to freeze.

The target is still awake," p-pudd-"

A gentle force from the gun's butt on her head made her silent.

Now to deal with the goons.

>Week 4

Everything hurts...Oh God! Why is everything hurt?

After last week's debacle, you woke up on the medical faculty with one of your leg on the cast. It seems that you saved them from Harley Quinzel but you have no full memories of that.... Just shreds of images. Just like dreaming. you spend the rest of the week recovering there. It was a torture, especially the food. At the end of the week, you are sbound to a wheelchair and Nurse Samantha became your pusher. Blonde, a bit of hourglass shape, blue eyes, and a bit of tanned skin.

Every sick man's dream.

The staff became very respectful to you, hailing you as heroes. Out of the three heads, Cpt. Cash was still appaled by your display of brutality. Still, he respected your decision.

>rolled 16 dice event.

But that's not all the surprise. This week, you've got another present.

Samantha slowly push your wheelchair away from the crowds of hungry reporters. you feel the nauseating heat from their cameras and body.

"Sir! Is its true you dealt with them?"
"Dr. Arkham! A Word!"
"Do you think what you did was right? Dr. Arkham, please!"

Then your hero showed up. Sunglasses, manly chin, and an oozing charisma.

"People! People, please! Do not torture this poor doctor! As I was saying, this is the first time in years since Arkham Asylum actually defend themselves. Perhaps this is a new dawn for Arkham Asylum."

Jonathan 'Old Joe' Gurwich was a man of charisma and duty. Commissioner Gordon sent him here to help you deal with the goons but instead you defeated them with no death. Impressed, he transferred here to help Arkham's reputation.

We should use the money we have to upgrade our infirmary to perform surgeries.

Alos, I would recomend getting gas masks for our guards with bio filters (for the fear toxin and the aphrodisiacs our local villains might subject us)

Finally, we need to implement a protocol to deal with this kinds of events.

I am sorry for not voting, but we should keep in mind to play the villains´personality against them. For example, we could have suggested Harley that the Joker send her as a escort for us for a meeting we both had arranged. That way, we could have played her paranoia of not dissapointing Mr.J to stall for time while remaining sane.

After last week's debacle, it is a refreshing thing to do your REAL job.

Leaning back on the wheelchair, you ask your assistant to the low level block. "Nurse Samantha, would you kindly escort me to our patients?"

"Certainly, Dr. Arkham," the nurse let out a coy smile.

The time passes with idle chatter. She have a small family outside Gotham and wishes to see the glamour of being a city folk, possibly a farmer family. Nursing someone to heath is one of her joy in living, being the oldest of her siblings. Poor luck sent her here. To Arkham Asylum.

hmm... A warm maternal instinct? Let's hope she survived this accursed place.

Arriving at the block, the blonde Dr. Sterlings greets you with his pearly white smile and it's not for you of course," Dr. Arkham, to what do we owe you the pleasure?" The blonde and vain Burt Sterlings. His diagnosis method is first word analysis and literature therapy.

"How are the patients, Dr. Sterlings?" You ask, ignoring his usual jabs.

"The normal procedure are working. They just need time, good night rest and a good book. Can I recommend you to a bookstore I know? They offered used books for new libraries." The man swipes his golden hair while glancing at Nurse Samantha.

This fucker wants you to build a library," Great jod, Dr. Sterlings. Now let me talk to one of the patients. Don't worry, she knows me."

The doctor nodded while the nurse follows your direction.

"Oh and about the library," Dr. Sterlings' eyes lightens at our words," I'll thank about it." His head dropped slightly and mutters some words at you. Probably curses and such.

Entering on of the room, a familiar person awaits at the edge of her bed. Her eyes are normal and healthy. No more bags or wrinkles.

" Good day, Mrs. Pennyfork. How are you feeling?"

"Ah! Dr. Sebastian," The woman is happy to see you," or Arkham..was it?"

"Dr.Sebastian is fine too."

---

After interviewing with some of the patients, it is clear that they missed their family. Perhaps you make a permission for family visits. Building a family visitation centre might be better fro patient's recover in the long haul.

" Working hard, director?" The nurse muses while escorting you to your office.

"That it does. this is more productive than last time and...more relaxing." you answered.

The same old routine.

Exchange banters. Fake smiles. Interviews. Coffee breaks. Overtime. Chatting.

You missed those simpler times but now you have a responsibility now.

It is in your blood. It is in your name.

You must continue...

If you managed to subdue them without any death or staff/patient injuries, yeah.

While posessions are great for problems, they lowered your 'grading'.

Um, interesting.

You kow, since we already have an expert of literary therapy at hand, the idea of making Scarecrow a terror writer just continues to grow in my head.

Besies, it would minimize exposure to him, which would allow us to diminish the posibility of voice possesion.

But we have to remember to give him recycled paper so that Poison Ivy doesn´t get pissed.

Oh. New character.
>>
>>2713128
My reasonings are as follows: Our job requires us to recuperate our patient's mental wellbeing, to not do this would be to go completely against what our duties are as a doctor.
While we are working with dangerous criminals and the like, to have lives lost on among our employees or patients will show that we are a poor caretaker and that will reflect on the Asylum as a whole.
And lastly our sanity, We are seen by a fairly large amount of people outside of a select few as a new bastion. To fall repeatedly into madness will make everyone lose their trust in us and restrict our influence and eventually give us the boot as the head of the Asylum.

>Are gas masks included in normal Armory advancement or do they need to be resarched

Researched or bought (but expensive). Certain filters for specific airborn weapons needs to be researched.

>Why is Old Joe so manly?
Because he is.

>When do interns arrive?
Chapter 2 (next month In-Game)

>Could we, as an action, a scavenge a basement or wherever old equipment and relics have accumlated? We need a cool typewriter after all.

That is what taking a stroll do. Maybe i should change it to explore.

>Very long term but if we expand from the use of reycled paper, maybe we could install solar panels or some shit and market Arkham as keeping up with the times, to garner some rep, especialy among the eco-terrorists wanting to free Poison Ivy.

that's a very good expansion but expensive too. Wait... Ivy got fans too? I thought she usually mindfucked them into zombies

>What was Batman thinking when after the events of us channeling his personality on Quin and the thugs?

He was very surprised of your capability, especially when you're just an ordinary man. he knows you're insane but still rationalized that you can do better since you didnt kill anyone.

>has he been keeping an eye on us since then?
yep. he wsa also reading your profile almost 50 times now. After all, you didnt have any training to gain this kind of mentality.

>>2713160

Oh, do you have any specific time when you are going to put up the new Chapter tomorrow? In hours from now on, so we don´t count different time zones

Around 7 PM GMT+00

or

Around 2-3 AM GMT+00
>>
>>2713167
Since we are aware that we are insane. But it appears that when we take on a personality, we lose memories of the event, as if we switched from one operating system to another.
Would it be possible to have someone that we trust to keep notes on the events as a part of researching into our own brand of madness?
>>
>>2713170

You can but the real question is: Who?

Do you trust any one of them? They have their own agenda, ya know
>>
>>2713172
Now that is the real fun. Finding someone trustworthy that won't break in a windstorm.
>>

>>2710881

What happens if we try analyzing ourself or getting into our own mind? We get a voice which is a copy of our madness, or a simulacrum of ourself? Like a homunculus?

>>2713172
>>2707946
>>2713173
The best candidate would be our Uncle. Unfortunately he's already insane and a patient, so we'll have to hold off on that for now.
>>
>>2713170
You want someone to study you?

That's how you get someone to study you. They would find out about our weaknesses of our different personality's.

Lets just keep on upgrading our insanity, and hopefully one of those perks lets us ride shotgun while someone else takes over.
>>
>>2713174
>We get a voice which is a copy of our madness, or a simulacrum of ourself? Like a homunculus?
So a Tulpa? Or a Split Personality?

>What happens if we try analyzing ourself or getting into our own mind?
Well the biggest problem so far is being busy and the memory loss, so we'd probably need a journal of sorts to help us keep track of what we've done.

>>2713175
We're all mad here, and we're not going anywhere. And heck, us capturing Quin is drawing more attention than us looking for a study into our own unique mental condition.
>>
>>2713174

>What happens if we try analyzing ourself or getting into our own mind? We get a voice which is a copy of our madness, or a simulacrum of ourself? Like a homunculus?

Gotta find out yerself, boyo!
>>
>>2713178
>So a Tulpa? Or a Split Personality?
A Tulpa would be an man-made imaginary friend, which could be the case depending on how we try doing it. A split personality sounds more likely and would match the other known Voices. Referring to my homunculus comment, it potentially could be the voice that keeps other voices in check, relatively speaking.

Here you mentioned that the Extreme Isolation Chamber costed 10 funds, just checking, but this is different from the Special Containment cells that costed 3 funds, yes?

What is the difference between them and why does the former costs so much?
>>
>>2713827

Special containment is just a room modified for meta people like Mr.Freeze, Croc, or people that needed modified environment to live.

Extreme isolation however...

They are cages to contain everyone. You know those dangling prisons in arkham game? That's the one. It is the safest cage you can offer. Remember that you got villains that easily escapes conventional prison. in here? they barely succeeed

You think she doesn't have guys out there who fap to pics/porn of her, just like real life? I mean, she's a lesbian and all, but she's still fucking hot come on.
>>
>>2713180
> it potentially could be the voice that keeps other voices in check, relatively speaking.
So because we cannot manage the voices consciously for too long without possession, we need our own spirit voice self on the other side to help us manage our subconscious voices? Sounds like something straight out of Inception. I like it.

Also it's basically us mimicking/absorbing/internalizing a sample of the madness of the person we're dealing with (negativity, not positivity), and gaining power from that at the cost of sanity and control of our own body. But if so, then why is our Scarecrow personality ridiculously helpful like the professor self? Is it because he's evil outside but good inside, and we internally replicated his good teacherly self because that's what he is deep down? Then the idea of us ONLY absorbing/replicating/whatever the fucking term is, is faulty. We do it to what is hidden or subdued, NOT what is negative? Hmmm
>>
>>2719132
I believe we don´t replicate the person itself, but an archetype of it we have formed insie our head.

Look at Batman for example.

We haven´t recreated the tragic figure of an orphan who has lost his parents, neither the tale of a hero putting his life on the line to defeat crime. We have created a persona based only on his analytical mind and powerful determination, where efficiency migh not be the means but the goal itself.
>>
>>2718471
The QM's second language is English so I wouldn't be surprised by further spelling mistakes. Its a fine trade-off for a good quest imo.
>>
Yo you know what we SHOULD do?

We should convert the inmates to our side and make a plan to capture Batman. and forcibly work through his psychology.

Call our minions the Disciples of Arkham!
