Born in the pits of Gubash, the evil barracks, as hybrid between orc species carefully selected, you rose through the ranks as a beast full of hatred.

You are a tool, part of a terrible army, who now is on a conquest to take country for the sorcerer king.

An so, you did exactly that, your mind was plagued by darkness, you killed many even feasted on their flesh.

Among all the pain and suffering you caused, you managed to awaken your own voice.

Free from the reigns of your masters, from the first time you are free to your own fate.

>You managed to desert successfully with minimum resources (no loot opportunity, starts on a road in the forest)

>You haven't made up your mind yet, right now you await for orders with the others (small keep, with a blacksmith forge along with barracks, plagued with orcs but high loot)

>You managed to disguise yourself and made your way into the civilized world (somewhat of loot, starts on a city or town, you are staying on an inn room)

new QM, this is not set on Lotr universe, expect slow updates and disappointment. You been warned

Korn's Keep, noble duke once owned this place, now lays covered in mud and filth, the rats roam the walls and have nest holes in every corner they can find.

Perfect from an orc perspective, such distasteful taste, you been trying to resist but you cant any longer.

You are now in your own individual quarters, recovering from the injuries you and your battalion suffered while making their way up to here.

Its midnight, next to your bed a lit candle illuminates the room.

Your gear isn't here sadly.

You've been on this bed for a few days now, you can move your body effortlessly now.

You hear a ruckus from the outside, the orcs seem to be arguing about something, as they do, after all they are creatures of hate.

>check the window, what is that dammed noise.

>explore the room carefully

You take a peek out of the window.

Orcs, countless of them

Some simply decide to eat, making lines and waiting for a plate with food. Orcs despite their low intelligence manage to sucessfully create lines patiently, last time someone tried cut the line, meat was back on the menu.

You could go for a plate, you heard the red stew was good, you still dont know where the butcher gets its spices though and sometimes the meat tastes weird.

You see that others are carrying some boxes, probably they are going to the stockpile, the logistics are handle by smart ones directing the grunts.

Hmm? Two of them are pulling a bigger box, ah.. captives..

There is another line at the distance, the blacksmith forge, primitive and cheap, that is the way how orc's equipment is handled.
Each orc is at least handed a good weapon and something to cover themselves.

You never had to worry too much, after all you are an elite, either a weapon was handed to you, someone was getting stomped to death.

"You son of a whore! I'll have your head!"

Ah of course, the usual show, when orcs don't stab anyone in a period of time, they start beating each other to death.
You used to be like this... maybe you still are.. you feel still the thrill of a fight...

>If you don't have a meal right now, you are going to eat someone face off

In order to fully heal you need to eat.

You grab some rags of cloth and you put them on, luckily you found some old clothing from the previous room's owner.

You make your way to the courtyard, the smell of oil and meat already hits your nose.

There is a small line, you could try to cut the li-

"Well, well, looks like the princess decided to awake!"

Your turn your head around and see a pair of orcs getting close.

"Really, if we knew you were going to be that soft on a fight, we would have putted you on the cooking pot sooner!"

Their remarks is encouraged by the laughter of others.

Snag and Fang, according to ranks, they should be slighty below you. Maybe the last fight gave them confidence enough to intimidate you.

Fang, the one with the eyepatch, takes a few more steps

"I am starting to get restless you know? You always pissed me the fuck off, left you alone cause you seemed special but guess what? Seems like you bleed just like the manfilth does"

Although they have been always like this, you can never tell if they are about to do something or if they are just testing their limits.

You look at him, its all so bothersome....

This shouldn't take long

You take a step closer

"What? You want to go you son of a-" Fang gets more close while pointing his knife at you

You slam your left fist across his face, saliva splatter from his mouth, you connect an upper cut with your right hand.

You send him flying steps behind Snag, how pathetic.

Staring at Snag, you say "Step aside or stay and become my supper you weakling!"

A surprised Snag stares at you, his face changes into anger and backs off to the side.
Smart, if he were to run, the others would either laugh it off or beat him up for showing cowardice.

He sets a good distance between him and you, good, guess he wont try to stab you in the back. You startled him that's for sure

Finally you made it to the line, the others move around and let you go first.

"Heh that Fang sure had it coming eh? Tonight we are having pork your "highness"

You smirk at the butcher, he is tall and fat, yet built with muscle, knives and cleavers hang from his clothes.

You grab a piece of roasted pork with your hands, you see that to the side there are some horns full of liquor, something so putrid and rancid it can kill rats nests.

You take the horn and sit by the fire.

The meat taste fine, the ale... well it taste fine too, if you dont look at its terrifying obscure color and ignore the things floating on the liquid.

Orcs.. simple and complex, full of hatred and madness...

You see them smile while stuffing their faces with pork and other types of meats, others drown themselves in liquor

You cant help but to feel like a unity, like you belong here...

You still want to leave do you?

Doubts enter your thoughts but they are cleared away this is not a life, here you are nothing but a slave.

You are your own man, belonging to no one but yourself.

The tree log you are sitting in, is uncomfortable, ohh how you wish you were in a real castle with real food and real comfortable furniture... you curse your high standards

Sigh

Mm?

You notice a small change in the wind, how strange... not a lot of noises... maybe it's nothing, it's the alcohol messing with you.

*Stuk*

A cold splash of liquid falls into your leg, great your pants are now impossible wash, nothing removes orc ale.
You turn your head around, with a pissed off look on your face, the orc is sitting next to doesn't even looks at you, even though he was the one who dropped his horn on you..... ah there is an arrow sticking out of his head.

Another falls into the ground a few feets in front of you.

You grab the orc by the shoulders and pull him towards you to the ground.

A rain of arrows falls into the camp.

*Stuk* *Stuk* *Stuk*

One after another hits the orc's back, he isn't big enough, more than one arrow managed to find themselves stuck in your body.
A few more others fall, until they cease, you hear screams, insults, and a loud noise.

You push the orc's body to the side and see several arrows stuck onto his back, you are covered with some of his dark blood.

An ambush, but how? Unless someone had made any major movement around the area beside your battalion, you should be safe.

"Its the manflesh!!! Sound the alarm!"

"Wake the others!"

Orcs run stumbling with each other, screaming, while others already have a weapon in hand.

You get up and break the arrows sticking out of you, you see the gates wide open, the manflesh have made their way into the keep. Their frontline troops have metal armor, while they backline have a rough leather armor, engaging with them could prove difficult.
They storm the keep, the butchering begins, screams of horror and pain are the only noise now.

This seems... almost perfect.. if you were to leave right now, no one would notice, this is the perfect time to desert.

You rummage through the fallen orc's belongings, the smell of blood is strong, you find on his side a cleaver which you grab.

You look all the surrounding chaos, the blacksmith forge is close to you could try to run to grab a better weapon.. or maybe some armor, but no there is no time.
Trying to run to the keep is a choice, but the manfilth is quickly surrounding, staying on the keep could quickly turn into a siege. Sieges and orcs don't mix, either we die of starvation or we end up killing each other.

The western tower, that is your best choice, the manfilth is swarming the keep they aren't expecting any orc to escape. Probably all the orcs that run away are going to go to the keep, you can't help but to wonder if about the stockpile and the captives...
You run to the destroyed western tower, orcs get on your way but you push them away, almost there.

You get to the tower, the orcs are doing a great job forming a meatshield at your right side
You climb the pieces of stone and bricks

You see one of the manflith charging towards you

"You are not getting anywhere you beast!"

He charges with a spear, his stance is weak and there is no effort behind it, either he is tired or is the first time sees combat, you slap the tip away he stumbles. Maybe a spear wasnt the best choice for his posture, you grab your cleaver a slash him across the face.
It sends him into the ground, you have no time to play sadly, the manfilth broke through the orc main force.
You resume your climbing, on the top, you see the orcs that had the watch now lay dead, you charge towards the edge and jump.

The water is cold and strong, it drags you away.

"Hey"

''Hey, mister''

*tuck* *tuck* *tuck*

"Grhm....''

''I think, he is dead''

You open your eyes.
A creature from the forest sticking your sides with a tree stick...
You are surrounded by shallow water, it seems that your body is on the side of the river, there is a log preventing your body to get dragged any further through the waters.

"Oh! Mister, are you alright?"

You try to stand up, your body is sore, you have few bruises here and there along with the few from last night. It will take you more than just a few seconds to fully stand, you sit.

''Mister?''

You then...

You look at the creature.

Ah kobold, no doubt.

Small, sneaky, almost tastes like chicken, pointy ears. They are known for their trickery and mischief, orcs like to hunt kobolds either for their meat or for their kleptomaniacal hoarding.
This one is small, probably a young one. You ponder eating him but figure that it can wait, first, you need some answers.

"Boy, where am I?" your voice is dry and so is your throat.

"Oh! You can talk! We are in the woodlands, sir.

Indeed, you are in a forest "Dumb kid, what region?''

''Middle region of the Greenlands sir!'' the child speaks

''We are near the town Coter''

You grunt
The river was too strong, it has taken you way too far from your initial thoughs, you do not know this region, seems like you are deep in the forest

'Hey mister where do you come from? How come your face looks angry? Ugh, you smell, you seem injured too, that can be no good ĀæHey where did you get that scar?" The child bombards you with questions very quickly

"That is none of your concern'' You stand up tall, you stretch your back and muscles. You stare at the child

"Creature, who are you?"

''My name is Kimi! And you?"

The small one ask for your name, how childish, names are nothing but bothersome still you were named

"That is none of your concern either''

You look down on him, this creature is testing your patience, but it has been a while since you talked to another species without trying to kill each other.

Now that you succeeded into abandoning the ranks and more than enough distance between the manfilth and you, you need to start planning.
The man filth forces were large enough and by the looks of it, they must have come from far. Only one soldier noticed your escape, it is unknown if they are going to be willing to organize a hunting party for just you.

You inspect yourself and find that the cleaver is still attached to your belt, that should come in handy. You are wearing a cloth shirt almost tattered, your pants are not in a great shape either, thankfully your leather boots are in good fine.

Now then, you could try to forage for a while, get something to eat and heal some of your wounds with a paste. You could also try to spend your efforts localizing the town, you are more than enough match for that place if you decided to take it hostage, pillage it or... well you will think when you get there.

"Wow! Mister, you look really strong... you look like a mountain!'' the young creature walks around you inspecting you "Is that a knife? It looks too big to be a dagger and too small to be a sword, don't you think?''

Hm? Ah yes, the creature, this one has fulfilled his purpose, you could try to interrogate him further or force him to lead you to his nest.
Maybe is better just to get rid of him, his bones and meat are small yet just enough to do multiple things, like a needle to close your wounds or a knife.

Yes, let us deal with the creature fate first...

>Get rid of him

''Creature''

''Its Kimi''

''Yes, creature, I need your... ahem... help, yes''

"Oh? what for?''

''I need something to heal my injuries"

"Ah! I see but hmm... I shouldn't just bring strangers at home, I don't even know your name hmmm...."

Nonsense, this one is refusing to help you, as you thought you are going to have to get ri-

"Fine! You are injured and dirty, your wounds are going to be nasty if we leave them untreated right? Come along then! I will show you the way to my house" The kid smiles, drops the stick and begins to walk while making small jumps.

Perfect, you walk behind the creature as it strolls away.

Kobolds are very weak in battle, they are much smaller than dwarves and most hits will likely cause severe injuries to them; even basic punches will often cause an injury. They tend to wield knives and daggers as they are often too small to wield larger weapons, so they have a hard time piercing even rudimentary armor. Most of their weapons are coated with poison and due to their size, they ambush and stalk rather than charge.
By the looks of it, there are more than only one living in their nest.

"You mentioned that you were not allowed not bring strangers, does that mean that are more of your kind nearby?"

''Yes, I live with my papa, mama, my aunt, my....." the young one speaks and speaks about their relatives and others.

You do not care so you ignore him as it continues to speak.

Kobolds form small to medium-sized groups, mostly inside caves and sometimes in the outdoors, living exactly as they do in caves, in a large group with piles of random jewelry, gems and anything shiny they come across.
Living from foraging and scavenging... Hmm, surprisingly enough, you know more about them than the common orc.
Is it the work on your mind the sorcerers made that makes you know about the common species? You cannot help but wonder.

The sun begins to go down, You and the creature are on the outskirts of a cave, the entrance is covered with moss.

*skriii* skriii*

The creature stops its track and produces a noise from his mouth, similar to the birds sometimes make.

Is it a signal? Has this creature set you a trap?

Your body tenses, you focus on your surroundings with one hand on the grip of the cleaver.

Two more kobolds come from the entrance of the cave, they seem to be smiling until they see you.
The taller one, only a few inches different, quickly grab the young kobold and pushes him behind, the other one hugs him tighly.

The taller one confronts you "Monster! How dare you to come here! Leave us at peace, there are more of others inside, do not dare to make a move''

''Dad, he needs our help!"'

He looks at his back and screams ''Silence! Why did you brought him here?!'' He turns to you "I am still surprised that you haven't used that cleaver or yours yet, I will give you whatever you evil monster want but leave at once!"

We need somewhere to recover temporarily and to pull the arrow heads out of us. And given how hostile the Father is, I doubt we can trust any directions heā€™ll initially give us. Weā€™ll just end up lost in the forest further. Maybe we can offer a trade? Surely someone of our size could be useful to a bunch of tiny scavengers- cutting some lumber, hauling heavy stuff back to their cave, or perhaps murdering something they wish gone? I know itā€™s outside of our usual MAIM BURN PILLAGE, but now seems as good time as any to start off as a fresh orc. Worst case, we can take what we need and leave

"Haven't come here for your life, beast, give food and medicine, I will let you alone"

The creature ponders for a minute, and makes a small gesture to the other one hugging the young one, they both go inside the cave "Fine, so be it, but do not approach any further, everything will be handed to you right here" as soon he opens his mouth and produces a chirp noise.

*Chrep* *Chrep*

You stare at the creature, this one could provide directions to the village

"Tell me where I can find the nearest village" you say

More kobolds come from the cave, one carries a side bag made of cloth and plants.
The others to your discontent carry small wooden spears, shivs, and blowguns. Their numbers are good enough, to cause injuries, but not enough to kill you.

"Follow that path, you will find a road, then go to your left" The kobold indicates.

"If you lie, I will come for you" after all, nothing would make them happier than wrongdoing evil creatures such as yourself

"I do not intend to lie to an animal like you, go to the left and continue, you will get there" he looks at you with disgust.

This is one is smart enough to not try anything with you, orcs have quite the reputation, but they are reasonable enough to establish trades with other lower species. Sometimes is more often tribute than actual trade....

The kobold throws the bag at you, you catch it and immediately inspect it. Nuts, berries and a small square of leaves tied with a string, must be the medicine. The food will last you for only a while, having a strong body has few disadvantages, but you will reach the village just fine.

You look at it satisfied enough " Than... hmm.. thank you, creature, I shall bother you no longer" you stumble with your words at first.
Thank you, not a phrase you normally use... you wonder if you are going to have to use it in the future.

The kobold grunts and gestures you with his head, time for you to leave.

You turn your back and leave the kobolds behind.

.......

You made your way deep into the forest, you gobble down some of the berries and nuts, it occurs to you that they might be poisoned, but then again under the control of the dark overlords, you have eaten much worse things. You wonder if by now you are made of poison

You finally made it to the road the kobold talked about, there are some bushes covering your view but its there.

"Oi! Who is there?" A voice thick and raspy comes from the other side

You see something big but you can't quite see it yet "Come on now... hehe... I won't hurt you" it says on a playful tone.

An orc?

You come from the bushes and you are encountered by a massive orc..
He is built with muscle but a thick layer of fat covers it, his stink is strong of blood and gods knows what...

You recognize this one, is the butcher from the camp, looks like he made pulled through.

Bogg "The Jolly Butcher", one from the worst, one who likes to play with his food while is still alive...

"Well, well, look who it is, I thought you were a goner" he smiles, his neck is covered with grease and sweat.

"Same for you too looks like the man filth had quite the ambush" to say on a calm tone "How did you escape?"

"Ah well, it was time to get restock my supplies " He takes a large cleaver from its back "Ho ho, I got some of the best cuts you have ever seen hah ha ha, I just plowed through them" he swings its cleaver downwards cutting the air "But in the end they were so many that it was probably best for US to move to better pastures heh? That's a nice piece you have there hah" he smiles happily while pointing at your own cleaver.

Right... you were feet away from the butcher shop, he definitely saw you.

"Ah come on don't make such a face, tell you what, how about we go and get ourselves a nice meal eh? There is a town west from here, it has been an hour since I ate something, I am hungry again hahaha" he laughs loudly, spit comes from his mouth " I was just about to go there myself! But I might need someone to watch my back, what do you say?"

You first make a disgusting face at the thought of watching his greasy and fat back.
He is bound to cause trouble, if you let him go you might have a hunting party chasing you soon... but with him, on your side, you could easily raid the town and get some gear, you can move on to a different town.

You could point him to the kobolds, he gets his meal and causes no trouble... such bothersome maybe getting rid of him is best.

"Fine... I could use something to eat too"

"Hahaha, Perfect! That's good!" He grabs his belly as he laughs.

Is just as you though, you are gonna have to get rid of him, pointing him to the kobold is just going to keep him distracted for a while, is best to deal with him now.
Facing him head-on might be tricky, is best to catch him off guard.

He turns to the road, exposing his back ''Oh yeah before we go, I need to go pick up some... tools from my camp, is not that I marked a tree with a cros-"

*twack*

With no hesitation, you lunge forward and attack him. Your were hoping to slice his neck and be done with this fast, sadly you hit in the back....

You stomp on the back of his knee, while still holding the cleaver.

''Argh! knew it! You filthy worm!" he screams and he stumbles.

With the sudden impulse, you pull removing the cleaver from his back, a brownish liquid spurts from his injury as you detach it.

''Hahah! Fine! I guess I will have to eat sooner than I expected!" he yells as he swings at you with his own cleaver sadly for him its nothing but a blind attack that misses you completely. You then jump a few steps to the side confronting him face to face, with a sideways slice you slash him across the face.

For a brief moment, he looks at you surprised, as if you didn't hit him at all.

Blood spurts from his face, he screams and grabs his face, dropping the cleaver. You hear terrible curses come from his mouth but they are drowned by the pain and the blood. He must be in shock.

You raise your arm to finish him off.

"Wait!"

He raises his hand like a shield while covering with the face with the other.

"Let me live! please! I give!'' he screams ''I will give you everything I got, don't kill me! The town is your entirely!"

You already made up your mind, he is going to cause trouble regardless if you let him live. You strike him down.

He falls to the ground, landing with his face.

*Stomp*

A pool of blood begins to form on the ground.

----

You take his cleaver and attach it to your belt, you figure that he didn't have anything else with him.
You notice that your shirt has more blood on it, your face has blood too, which you clean with your forearm.
Either you move to the town, or try to find his camp, it could be a waste of your time.

You look at the butcher's body, the smell is more than unbearable. You feel the temptation of eating him... You hesitate.

You never ate raw meat after you first discovered your own voice. Under the sorcerer's control, you feasted on all types of flesh dead or alive, didn't matter. You figure that your insides are just as rotten as the butcher, you hope that is isn't too late for you.
But that was a thing of the past now, you need to continue moving forward, your actions till the day you were "awakened" need to be buried deep within you or else they would consume you whole.

The butcher mentioned a camp, something about a marked tree.
