You are Mick Frost, an Imagineer working at Walt Disney World. You were chosen to be the model of the first Disney Host Interactive, a holographic guide to the park. However, you discovered that there is a reason why you were chosen, as well as why the DHI was implemented in the first place: Disney characters are made real by the collective belief and imagination of the world- including the villains, who have banded together as the 'Overtakers', plotting to seize control of the park and eventually the whole world. When you fall asleep, your mind is transferred to your DHI self, armed with a weapon called the 'Keyblade'. You are the park's only hope to fight back against the Overtakers. Last night, you fought and defeated the Horned King,

Well, the Heartless he summoned with the Black Cauldron technically defeated him, but you're counting it as a win.

---

A few days after the fight with the Horned King, you come into work with only for Wayne to pull you aside in the Utilidors. He looks exhausted and there are dark circles under his eyes. "I've been rackin' my brain tryin' to figure out what the Overtakers are lookin' for." he says. "We need to find whatever they're after before they do."

"That's great, but we don't even know what we're looking for." you say. "Basil said they're looking for something in the park, and I dunno if you've notice, but the park's pretty big."

Wayne looks unamused. "Don't get sarcastic with me," he grumbles, rubbing his eyes. "We gotta start somewhere."

>"Wayne, are you alright?"
>"Do you have any ideas where we should start?"
>"I think we need more info. We can't just go running around the park looking for some big secret."

"Wayne, are you alright?" you ask. Wayne nods his head. "Yeah, yeah, just a little tired..." he says.

"Well, I think we need more info," you say. "We can't just go running around the park looking for some big secret."

"I get that," says Wayne. "But there's something that's been bugging me...who would hide something in Disney World? What could you possilby hide from millions of people?"

>"Something you can put in a place park-goers can't go."

"Maybe they hid it while Disney World was being made." you say. Wayne scratches his chin. "Well, maybe..."

His eyes light up. "Wait, I think I have an idea. There's a replica of Walt's Apartment above the firehouse. Maybe we should check there."

>KH quest
How autistic are you, OP?
I don't mean that sarcastically, this has my interest, but do I need to know all the side material from like the mobile game and shit?
I'm one of those guys who kinda gave up after 2, due to the spinoff games all being on different handhelds and me not having that kind of money to burn as a student.
>>
>>2708397

You need to know almost nothing about KH at this point in the quest. If more stuff from KH comes in, it will be explained in-character

>"Apartment?"
>>
>>2708463

"Apartment?" you ask. Wayne nods. "Yeah, Walt wanted a copy of the fire house from Disneyland, apartment and all. He was a stickler for detail when the parks were built, so if there's anything out of place, I'll probably notice."

"Wait, how do you know this?" you ask.

Wayne looks at you with a wry grin. "Kid, how old do you think I am?"

"Late sixties, early seventies?" you guess. Wayne shakes his head. "I was one of the first Imagineers, and the youngest back then. Hired by Walt Disney himself."

You try your best not to go bug-eyed. Wayne actually KNEW Walt Disney?! Holy crap!

Wayne leads you to the utilidor that goes into the fire station. "Alright, we need to be quick. There's a tour coming through in about 15 minutes, and the crew members really freak out when you mess with the stuff in the apartment, so make sure you put back everything just the way you put it."

Oh thank jesus.
Seems like every time I run into online discussion it's full of rabid aspies who lose their shit at you for DARING to not spend like a thousand dollars on hardware to keep up with a series that started out being pretty hardware consistent.

You cautiously rummage around the apartment, looking for something- anything- that looks out of place. However, nothing pings as suspicious. You sit on the floor and stare up, feeling lost...

As you stare at the ceiling, you notice that there's a shallow, almost unnoticeable groove in the ceiling. Your eyes trace the groove until you realize it makes a perfect square. You're just about to get up on a chair to inspect it closer when your phone buzzes- Wayne is signalling you to get out.

You quickly exit the apartment through a backdoor. Wayne looks at you expectantly. "Did you find anything?"

>"It's probably nothing, but there was something weird about the ceiling."

"I think there's a panel in the ceiling." you say. "I couldn't get a good look at it, but it might be worth looking into. Aside from that, could we get some Stormtroopers to help police the place?"

Wayne shakes his head. "Sorry, Mick. I don't know much about Star Wars, but I'm pretty sure that if the Stormtroopers came to life in the park, they'd be on the side of the Overtakers. Villains tend to stick together."

"So, how do we get another shot at checking the apartment?" you ask. Wayne rubs his chin, deep in thought. "Well, the way I see it, we have two options: go back before the park closes and hope the guests don't see us, or go after the park closes and hope the Overtakers aren't watching us."

You manage to sneak back into the apartment around two hours before closing time, during one of the many brief rainstorms that are part and parcel for Florida. Families unfamiliar with Florida's weather huddle under makeshift umbrellas and run for the exit as you go into the back of the firehouse and up into the replica apartment. You put Wayne and Sarah on video chat as you stand on the bed to examine the inlaid panel.

You run your finger along the inside. The panel is only a quarter of an inch deep. You can't find a latch or handle, so you push up on it.

A cloud of dust falls down on you as the panel gives way. After a brief coughing fit, you get up on your tip toes to look up. You see a small compartment that had been hidden by the panel.

>>2715226

You find a flat, smooth stone slate in the shape of a quarter circle. Notches and protrusions line the straight edges of the slate. On the surface is a series of weird squiggly symbols accompanying letters of the alphabet- specifically the letters A through F. You show it to Sarah and Wayne, who look baffled.

"It...Almost looks like a cipher key." Sarah says.

>"Think the Overtakers are trying to decode something?"
>"Oh no, is this some National Treasure nonsense?"

Just found this quest, What the fuck is this cause it looks neat.

You put your head in your hands. "Oh, no," you groan. "is this some National Treasure nonsense? And what's up with these things on the edges?"

"They kinda remind me of puzzle pieces..." says Wayne. "I'd wager there's three more to make a full circle."

You think it kind of reminds you of the Atlantis movie. "You think the Overtakers are trying to decode something?" you ask.

"It's possible." Wayne says. "Not sure what. but it's safe to say we can't let them find these other pieces."

>"Three pieces...this one is from Main Street USA, maybe the other lands have pieces?"
>"If Walt put them here...maybe he hid them in places that meant a lot to him. Wayne, you knew Walt, what do you think?"

"Three pieces..." you say. "This one is from Main Street USA, maybe the other lands have pieces?"

"It's definitely possible." said Sarah. "Question is, where are they? There's still 5 other lands in the Magic Kingdom- and that's assuming they'll only be in the Magic Kingdom."

"Which is a pretty big assumption." adds Wayne. "For all we know, the rest of them could be holed up in Epcot."

You exit the apartment.

Where will you start looking for the other pieces of the decoder slate?

Surprised more people didn't go for Tomorrow Land considering the work that Disney put into it. Probably a piece at the top of Space Mountain.
>>
>>2718552
I feel you were incredibly smart in the whole treasure hunt thing my dude. I think the only thing that would make it better is having the rides match up to what people imagine them to be. Like say, Space Mountain is LITERALLY a Mountain in Space or the ghosts in the Haunted Mansion are real. That would add a ton of fun to this whole treasure hunt thing!
