Optimistically, the war will be over by the end of the year.

At this rate, the Pytherians may even do us one better and finish the entire thing ahead of time.

While the valiant defenders of the Ochre Belt do their best, Pathfinders have already pushed past the Isvind Forest Corridor and are heading towards the city of Seriaki. High Command has hastily mobilised the reserves and called a general rally for militia volunteers. We hope allies may reach us in time, from far Volkea or Reik.

But the grander brush of plains war and metropolitan urban combat is not the one we paint with today. In Sareth, across the churning waters, after two weeks spent in cramped conditions on a small, fast ship, a little group of almost-volunteers prepare. . .

[ Commander's Log ]

. . . I am not sure how much more I can ask them to give. Hills, plains, towns, cities, mud and somewhere in between blood, essence and soul.

But I have yet to find a breaking point. Given the necessity of this task, given the magnitude of the opposition, perhaps my lack of care is a sleight of hand. Perhaps I found it, and then simply kept going.

What other choice remains? The inductees take to the procedure, manifest an outlier, and we pretend to understand the consequence of the forces we corral into their hearts. I still can't sleep at night. I hope the forecasts are incorrect. The data could align with some slim shimmer of error margin, if we key our priors preferentially. And yet. Run it again and again and again. They get the same outcome, and I get the same night terrors.

I hope the mathematical conspiracy is wrong and that they will preserver.

Maybe the breaking point is so far past that we simply forgot when we shattered. . .

Trenchers can opt to exchange their Chirni for another armament.

IntSec suggests utilizing the higher penetrative power of the CIW for this engagement, as a warded Pytherian Facility is apt to be guarded by the Bonded Legion, to whom normal bullets is like so much rain. They would shrug off the smaller calibres of the chirni easily.

For this operation, there are some extra considerations. Briefing to follow.

Good to have you with us.
Or will you going to have been arriving yesterday, tomorrow?
I lose track.

--

With the heart of the ArchTheurge liberated from Imai, and some extra understanding we got from decoding the Wards writ on the bone structure of his corpse, we now know how to breach into the Pytherian Facility at Ravenpoint.

IntSec worked hard to get us here. I hear they're taking cards for lost agents.

We arrive from sector green A or B. Pick your starting position (1, 2) and act from there.

In order, the Ravenpoint Facility is like this:

A - Primary armory
B - Barracks
C - Garage
D - Facility entrance, proper
E - Backup power generator and office.

At these locations, the following extra objectives present themselves.

[1]
The security checkpoint houses legionnaire armor and extra weaponry. As in Imai, if we can gain control of it before the Pytherians know we're here, we deny them the fielding of heavier units.

[2(c)]:
The Garage. IntSec agent "Mercutriel" informed us that while Ravenpoint is primarily working on the Unity Engine, they are also field-testing NEW SIGILCRAFT DESIGNS. These would be stored in the garage. Get there, then prevent any pilots from waking the craft and we are guaranteed armor superiority.

[3]
The barracks. If we can control the primary armory (a) and the Barracks compound (b), we prevent noncombatants and extra Pytherians from doing something courageous like seizing guns from the armory and thinking about fighting us.

[4]
The Office / Generator / Unknown (E)>

This is a long shot, and not a primary concern while we're taking the place. But the office will have papers, guard rotas, information and communications. It would tell us about what to expect inside the facility.
Take out the generator, and automated defences will start to cycle their power.
Finally, any Theurges present would need to coordinate from a defensible position. Denying them that would sow disarray among Pytherian first responders.

Finally
[5] (d)
This is the entrance to Ravenpoint proper.
Yes, Trenchers, what you see here is just the surface of the place. The actual Work is undertaken below ground. Once we have control of the base camp above ground, stack up at the entrance and Prepare to Breach.

If we take too long, some of the on-site security may respond by attempting a sally from the entrance. Alternatively, if more Pytherians that make it into the corridors of the facility, we're going to have to go room by room once we sweep the place.

--

Guards are PATHFINDERS, LEGIONNAIRES and AUTOMATED DEFENSES.

This is a Theurge High Facility, engaged in a Black Project directly under the auspices of the Council of the Spheres, I must also place upon you all a second warning:

You've seen how the Theurges sometimes reap the essence of the fallen in combat, re-purposing the husks as a terror unit.

Trenchers?

A cloud of sand pre-empts our arrival. Out here in the Sarethian Vast Exterior, the wind works up a storm and the sands themselves seem to refract the light oddly, creating multifaceted illusions.

but this place is real enough, even through the heat shimmer.

On the breeze, traces of smoke. Something tangy. Something acidic.

We enter Ravenpoint.

They made a fight of it. The room still smells of bullets and tenacity.

The Pytherian Facility here is working on the Unity Engine. The Rebus Agents kick in the door. Notoriously anti-religious. Never get involved in local politics.

Then we kick in the door.

But the Pytherians need something to control and direct the Unity Swarm. That Transmitter in Imai? It was made of ... something that took cannon shells and kept going. When Rebus Agents broke through the perimeter, the Theurges must have lost control of their local swarm and it splintered. Then in the chaos, it was a three-way firefight.

Last time the Swarm didn't attack until nightfall. So the Theurges are gone, the Rebus Agents are looking for one of them and the Swarm is. . . biding its time /inside the facility/, underground, out of the sun!

That's why there's so few corpses around the entrance to the facility. They dragged them back in for food.

But that's. . .

That means the Black Rebus still doesn't have what they're looking for! It's still inside the facility!

Accuracy and range. You deliver a standard melee attack to the grenade, so it might not go so far. But it is faster and could pay off better than picking it up carefully and throwing it.

You're better off picking it up and throwing it (1+4 AP), but again, you might miss... It is dangerous.

Try to use FIELDCRAFT to EXAMINE the hostiles.

TacPenetration measures our current penetration of the enemy commnet. As the primary TechOp responsible has a crunch of 4, minus standard defences of 1, our penetration at this time is 3.

A TechOp might ... need that for something!

Isn't it still possible to miss with a melee attack, or does the melee attack throw it back within Grit as range?

>I’ll mind control one of Center-South squad to grenade the bikers.
Once I extend my mind control range with AP, is the range I can control an enemy within that AP-boosted range before it breaks? Or can I move them beyond my AP-boosted range so long as I have mind control AP?
For example I boost it to 8 hexes, invest 2 AP in mind controlling a unit, and then move it 2 hexes away so it's 10 hexes from myself. Would it still work, or would the mind control break early?

In the case of trying to melee a grenade, we assume you can't miss as prone target that does not defend, on the ground.

Same as you can't technically miss the broad side of a barn.

You can move them beyond that range - think of it as a single high density information burst. You expand range, then "Send" a command of (example) 6 further AP, Trencher.

They then carry that out!

It's . . . spooky.

S-sorry Trencher!

The SkimSwarm is a remotely operated droneswarm that our TechOp Personnel can call in and operate. That's . . . you!

--

They have 10 AP and Skill = The Drones. Simultaneous distributed cores, that sort of thing. You give them a general order, and they can manipulate the environment, operate things and even get your coffee! And the new models have enough lift in their rotos that they can pick up and carry small objects.

They're very hard to hit because of their nimble movements and quite sturdy, but there's no redundancy at all. And they're just no good against grenades. So... don't pilot them into bullets, allright?

10 AP, Skill = Drones
13 Reaction but 2 HP per drone.
They can Construct and Destruct, move and grab, and Evaluate for people!
(And don't tell Command this, but we tweaked the target pointers to overcharge the battery banks so they can also destruct. . . people)

If someone tries to hack them, nearest TechOp defends automatically. If you don't, they're not very safe.

My other concern is if they Evaluated the base range of their Overwatch so that sprinting into it would be in a wider Range than usual.

To answer your question on grenades, all grenades go off on the turn after you pull the pin. The 4AP spent for them is for grabbing the consumable and pulling the pin/trigger. This means you can ready *cook* a grenade on one turn by spending the AP and when you throw the grenade on your next turn it costs *0* AP to do so.

Agreed, but I have a feeling a safe haven right at the intersection will be valuable at some point in the future. Fortify up right at the intersection where the agents are now. You can have a good shot at any place reinforcements could come from. Slap a flag down, keep medics around. Leave some grunts to hold down our bunker regardless of how many trenchers hang around it. There are limitations, but it's more efficient than sprinting back there from here. I don't know if it's possible to redeploy to initial deployment zones.

>Also, since you're up north, I'd secure that legionnaire supply shed if you make it. I'd rather not get overrun by red's in plate.

Useful.
>The pytherians have a whole underground base right under our feet, you see? I don't want some pathfinders opening up a secret hatch and suddenly have a wave of legionnaires on us. Either blow it up or take it for ourselves, they have better shields than us and I'd LIKE one.
Could work. We'd need to capture more supply before we could deploy that many flags without overextending ourselves. I would think in-between the barbed wire barricade would have better sightlines into building 5. Flag A and future flag B could nearly overwatch each other from that position.
Flag A has a possible sightline into building 3 through that small hole in its South-East wall.

If this mission becomes prolonged and needs to be defended like the last one having a diagonal bunker that runs from where you stated to where I stated (going between the two pieces of barbed wire barricade) might be a good idea, though a bit of an adventurous endeavor, since it would need a few hands or one man with a good bit of time to set up right. Also it might want to be noted that if I'm reading the situation right Due to the efforts of Foly the Vanadians are retreating to their extraction point. If they realize they've been duped they'll be back for blood. We may want to set bombs down on the western side once their survivors leave.

Already intercepting to them. Assuming they don't Overwatch me to death, which shouldn’t they because >>2721598 Tatiana is spoofing them, 4/6 will be guaranteed to be instantly killed. 1/6 will most likely be instantly killed from adding all the flame canisters together and expanding initial AoE. The biker will likely be the only survivor, and 3 squads are being rerouted to surround him.
After that I was going to sprint to them to call in a gas bombardment, but you want me to get healed so I'll go back to flag after this turn.

So far Tatiana's spoof has been demonstrated to be an auto-success. Tatiana's frag canisters are a Dud, so I don't think I'll be friendly fired.

>If you have a suggestion on my course of action next turn, I'd be willing to listen. I'm spawning in B with a shield, what's my objective?
I'm not sure. I don't typically plan expecting others to be active, given how often players AFK during turns. I was planning on depending entirely on the AI and any posts that came in.

I'm thinking of what flag to place first, the light-blue one on South-East or the dark blue one on Center. I'm fairly close to both, closer to the Center.
I'm thinking of the South-East because the fire will spread for a bit. Both the fire and fire's smoke will deter attacks from that direction for a while.

We know the >>2721245
>>Barracks/Armory still unknown.
>>2720632
>If we take too long, some of the on-site security may respond by attempting a sally from the entrance. Alternatively, if more Pytherians that make it into the corridors of the facility, we're going to have to go room by room once we sweep the place.
Barracks and the Entrance are potential enemy spots or deployment zones, so the sooner that's secured the less likely we'll be overrun.
I’m thinking you should secure the Entrance. Your Storm Shield means you won’t have to worry about sudden reinforcements or how there’s still fog of war in that building.

>>2721437
>- Spear Nine this is Gladii Actual. Copy request, denied. New objectives: Get to the extract point immediately, Spear Nine. If we can't have him, no one can. Heavy bombardment to begin in 600 seconds.
>>2721583
>Allright, you lot, you heard the man in the bunker. Rain is going to drop in 574.
Based on this there's about 30 seconds in between each phase. So we have about 19 phases or 10 turns before they wise up, assuming they don't find out before then. It’s already been 7 turns so far, 4 without combat. At our rate I think by 10 turns we’ll have already secured the Barracks.

Which one are you referring to?
>>
>>2722050
If you are referring to planting a flag in the middle, that problem is solved by building a bunker there and putting fortifications around it. If we clear and secure as we go then we won't get overwhelmed later.

Personally I'd agree with that statement. The Center one was from a conversation where the enemy could continue deploying from outside, the bunker, or perhaps anywhere. What we'd do to secure all possible deployment zones, and how fortifications and sightlines would be used to keep them secure. It was educational.
Primarily I want to use the South-East and flag A to secure the Entrance for infiltration and extraction, so we don't get funneled and ganked on the way in or out. Having greater map presence would be nice, but I want to save on supplies and time that would be spent securing the flags on saving it for whatever is in the underground. There’s also how I set fire to the Center. We'll likely have 1 Veteran and 3 Troopers on each flag, which should suffice if they spend their spare time on entrenching.

Pull Through / Shrug It Off allows you to power through HT loss and Penalties ( stun or shock from grenades, Terror, etc )

Bleeding Out is actually a status penalty, representing profuse bleeding. Spend Focus to recover HT wnd you’ve regained it, but you’ll also need to fix the Bleed.

That means the total cost is circa 6 focus ( 5 ht safety, 1 bleed reduction). So you can do it yourself, its just not effecient.

You still need a field kit, and since you have no AP when holding your guts in, spending Focus to try and get AP is a non-starter. Even if you nix the bleeding, your status only refreshes at turn end - and you’d be fine from next turn.

Essentially, you can Focus enough to pull through and heroically survive but you need outside help to properly get back in the fight this turn.

. . . no, Rebus Agents aren't your standard Pytherian goons. The Legion relies on Pathfinders to scout, Legionnaires to hold and Theurges to plan. It's a trifecta. Each one unit can rely on others to shore up failings.

Rebus Agents are selected from promising Legionnaires and transferred to a different training track. These guys are Senatorial Intelligence Service, but not the usual spooks and spies. Back Rebus only deploys when someone wants something gone. They're not going to go down without a fight.

But it still doesn't explain why they're /here/, Trencher. Only what they did.

>>2721622
If they retreat out of here, they retreat out of here. They're not what we came for. Put them down if you can and we might learn something, capture one of them and we can ask questions, but in the end, our objective is inside that facility.

This is a secondary concern, at best.

>>2721903
The Troopers deploy with Rifles and FragGrenades.
Rifles are Single Shot, high Accuracy Weapons that deal 2d6 damage. Recent improvements have given them 2 DR standard defences. Their Tac Score is 7.

Command didn't want to trust regular troopers with rapid fire weaponry. They're... very enthusiastic volunteer conscripts.

Veterans deploy with Chirnis, a Full Kit and Attitude. Their Tac Score is 12.

As demonstrated by the redoubtable SPC Jenkins, a Trooper Squad lead by a Veteran displays a marked increase in combat effectiveness, simply because the higher Tac of the Veteran allows better coordination.

While we could technically give the soldiers new gear, HIgh Command frowns on the paperwork and we're close to being shut down as is. You can issue them Specialized Gear at 2 Supply per Gear.

>While interesting, AI Allies are not meant to be micromanaged or customised in that manner. They're there to help you accomplish an objective. If you really want to, it is possible, but it's going to be expensive. If this is of keen interest, Command will investigate the possibility of expanding the Support Services.

>>2721903
Frags usually detonate on the turn after they are thrown (Your Phase Throw - Enemy Phase - Detonate at end of Enemy Phase/Start of your Phase, a full "turn" being phase + phase).

Grenades can be cooked - spend 4 AP to prepare and it is in your hand, and you can throw it for 1 AP /next/ turn, at which point it immediately detonates.

You will notice Pytherians do this a lot.

Timers for Grenades can be set. Do it when you throw them. Define phases or turns. Trying to set a timer of 0 to bypass the "turn" standard requirement means it detonates in your hand.

>>2721903
The Rebus Agents have prepared 1 overwatch facing NE. Red/Orange overwatches indicate that this is a MULTIFIRE OVERWATCH. These guys are packing heavy assault kit.
>>
>>2721913
>>2721913
Costs 1 AP. Any non-listed action has an assume cost of 1, as a sanity measure. Any action that requires direct physical interaction with the world have a basic cost of 4.

Eg: "Pick Up Thing: 1 AP"
"Check this area, 1 AP"
"Kick open this door, 1 AP)

but
"Move These Boxes Over There: 4 AP"
"Drag these corpses over here to form a pile of cover" 4 AP
"Grapple this target in melee" 4AP

Rolls vs Accuracy and FieldCraft are done a lot in these instances. While a 1 AP to look at someone might seem impressive, it costs 3 AP to get a 90% success chance ( 1 AP to Examine, 2 Ap for +2 Fieldcraft, roll vs 14) and margins are used to gauge success. If you really want to investigate something, it takes more time.

The only way to do something at no cost should be some Trencher Talents. If you see any other no-cost actions, please inform Command so they can correct their papers!

>>2721920
This question needs a bit of careful consideration.

The Environment Conditions set the range. Usually at -1 per 3, 4 or 5.

You can Evaluate to get +1, nixing some range penalty. This effectively expands your range. Not all abilities can do this - Trencher Abilities are very specific in how much it costs for +Range.

Guns get +1 to hit by Evaluating, which means +range given how they work.
This usually translates to +3-4 range, because the +1 cancel out the malus from range.

Chemsprayers, thrown items, ResOp Abilities, Trencher Abilities spend 1 AP for +1 Range. This is very different, and means guns will universally have a range superiority.

For Overwatches, they function like attacks, just delayed and usually with a cue of "Enemy acts in direction I am looking". You can expand your range of overwatching with normal Ap to expand range, since you're aiming down the sights. Just gives you +Gun.

Overwatches usually don't trigger past 2x Range, simply because THAT IS THE STANDARD UNIT VISION CONE. You can /see/ things beyond it, and FoW Tends to clear beyond it, but in the chaos of the battlefield it is easy to mistake things at longer range.

This is also why sometimes things "pop in" when you get closer. You only saw it then.

>>2721980
It costs 4 AP and requires a clear route to redeploy to a flag. It's why we like planting them all over.

>>2721994
The Chirni Balanaces vs other weapons by allowing you a free dodge or a free attack. It's meant for CQC environments. It also has a very high ammo capacity, and a generous ROF.

While the CIW puts out better shells, it handles less elegantly.
>>
>>2722038
Spoofs auto-succeed at bypassing the electronic defenses of enemy systems, simply because our CommOps personnel are /that/ good.

You can think of it as mindcontrol for electronic units, they can send bunk orders easily.

Anything else requires a roll and some application of talent. Convincing the person on the other end of an incoming barrage, or tricking elite soldiers into mistaking a hologram ghost for yourself.

>>2722038
Phases are slightly more variable than that. they tend to take an Abstract Plot amount of time, for the purposes of narrative dramatics.

Oh! Lifesaving firemans carries and evacuation. Important question.

GRIT is usually representing of your more metaphysical, badassatitude.

You can carry one body per hand you have - usually two. Given slings and proper gear webbing, this doesn't count as unequipped a weapon. You just grab someones carry strap and get out of the fiery inferno they fell in.

That is to say

>1 AP to grab as always
>Get out of there, Trencher, with your bleeding buddy in tow.

And no, you can't sprint when you're carrying a friend.

But you could grab someone, drag them back into cover, then leave them there for now then sprint away?
>>
>>2722230
Pytherian Bullets usually hit for >4

With 2-3 DR, having 5 HT is your "safety" zone for not immediately dirtnapping again! So it''s the "liable not to be dead from next hit"

You have one turn; it's a lot of bleeding.

And lots of things give bleed. It's why you have an HT score! Trenchers shrug that stuff off readily, but ResOps and others tend to be more fragile.

>I may reconsider allowing downed / bleeding units to act to help themselves

Coordinate in thread if you want best results. Command actually reads everything.

Please be careful in assuming the validity of do-overs. They can readily get out of hand. Command is usually lenient because we all make mistakes, but multiple do-overs a turn makes reading orders very hard. Do it too much and... [boom].

This carries, but will have a 4 Focus “wait! No!” Cost from now on.

Evaluation does carry, but anything that shocks you risks disturbing your concentration. And its not much good to aim versus a target that then moves.

So its a risk.

There is also an effective skill cap of 20, and 18 always fail ( sometimes 17-18 ).

And yeah.
It’s a great job.

Yep yep Techie Foly, other than the Rebus agents this is alllllllll corpses.

Unless a Theurge wanders in an causes them to Reanimate from being on Pytherian Sanctified ground, they won’t be a bother!!

But what’re the odds of that?

It’s okay, Trencher.

Even an Archtheurge could only reanimate the entire field if every dead carcass belonged to a Faithful Legion; so no daggers or scars from the House Of Faith, no problem.

>With 2-3 DR, having 5 HT is your "safety" zone for not immediately dirtnapping again! So it''s the "liable not to be dead from next hit"
1 HT is the minimum to be considered eligible for AP restoration? Shaking off bleed without healing means you're at 0 HT and can't restore AP, but you aren't danger of dying automatically?

This carries, but will have a 4 Focus “wait! No!” Cost from now on.
Guess I can’t do that without chewing up the extra Focus cost then, and do nothing for this turn.

>>2722375
>Please be careful in assuming the validity of do-overs. They can readily get out of hand. Command is usually lenient because we all make mistakes, but multiple do-overs a turn makes reading orders very hard. Do it too much and... [boom].
I didn't do that before outside of clarification. I did submit my posts too late without indicating and that's how I missed a few turns worth of actions for characters in mission 4, which led to their deaths.

... Aww, my head. Did anyone catch that tank?

Lt Rookie, I think I can shed some light on this one.

The Rebus are working against the Theurges, it seems. They executed everyone, yeah? Savages. So telling the incoming Theurge patrol about the Agents is going to make them hungry for blood.

Given your sterling working with the CCTVs and scanning earlier, it is apparent the Black Rebus hit the facility ahead of us. The Swarm got out in the chaos, and slaughtered the locals. The Theurges lost contact, and must have mustered a fast reaction force, coming in just now.

What the Rebus wants we don't know. Factional infighting? The Senate hasn't been keen on the direction the Theurges have been taking things. This looks like politics taken to the logical extreme.

The Swarm is a-political, and under Theurge control. But they need those inhibitor arrays to direct them. That was sabotaged in the initial fighting by the Black Rebus, so the Swarm ran amok.

So you've got it down pat. Maybe they could all have their own little war and leave /us/ out of it.

As for how bad the Faithful come back, mostly same as your standard Shuffler but with a meaner bite and a knife they know how to use. Fire, explosives and Blast weaponry like the Veritas will do them in just fine. They tend to ignore normal bullets though. Not really any vitals there to hit any more.

If the Theurges ressurected a Vanadian, Pytherian or Swarm corpse... well, the Reanimated Husk is mostly barebones, powered by the soulscrap and the will of the Theurge puppeting them. We saw them lift a Sigilcraft back on its feet, but it wa sluggish.

If they re-animated a Trencher or a ResOp, they couldn't use the Talents. That takes an actual Soul. But they could puppet your former friend to claw your eyes out, and at that point, it gets exponential. Powered by the burning of a soul, the Husks spread the wildfire to those they kill.

If they pump in a lot of energy, they might manifest a Twiceborn. That's you or me back on our feet, thoughts intact, but rather like Trencher Gromnet, with a surprising hungering for the flesh of former allies. A Twiceborn /could/ utilize the talents the corpse had in life.

But we don't see those a lot. They're very, very rare.

- You look the other way while we poke around, we help you out and rescue all your civvies. We both walk away feeling good with all our limbs intact and both of our operators happy as can be.

Hoi there, 'Furious Adamant'. This is 'Hard Days Work', Vanadir's finest. You here to investigate are you? Recover what you can, rescue who you can? Hey, us too. I'll save you the trouble: Religious zealots rolled in, bricked your wards, blew up everything, released your kraken that you were growing in that base underground and then put a bullet in the staff that weren't eaten not 60 seconds ago right in front of us. We spent so long developing all those countermeasures, and the place was wide open when we get here.

See, we're just here for some polite, neighbourly military espionage. Civvie casualties don't sit too well with us (or our bonuses at the end of this mission) so here's my thinking, 'Furious Adamant': Smoke those churchy bastards that executed your scientists, get your scientists to our medical team for revival before it's too late, you look the other way while we poke around a little, and we both walk away feeling good, missions successful and with all our limbs intact. Here, forwarding you a copy of our tactical map, see all those civvies on the sands over there, bleeding out with holes in their backs.

Savvy?

Haha, yeah right. Scram, you grabbing that guy from the closet? Maybe he knows something useful, let's see if we can extract him without the new Pythies seeing.

High command, can er get an evac point down south here? Before sunset and those things get free range over the surface, please. Maybe we can get this theurge back here revived, stabilized and brought home for interrogation. Any of the civvies too, if we can get them into the truck without the legion realizing.

I'll be trying to crack into the bunker's systems, scrape it for research notes while everyone else is doing what they do. Sod going down there if it's full of those things, it's suicide.
>>
>>2723476
Trencher, we know its suicide. That is why we sent you in there. Someone has to do it. We have to do it.

The sub-surface facility is the primary exploration grounds, and our best bet of finding out how the process works. You have to take it.

However, if - *if* - you can find enough intel that we don't need to breach that place, then extract and get them back to us, then yes, we can try that. Use your field prerogative; that's why we operate outside the standard regulations.

That Theurge is a corpse, however, and will tell us nothing. We'd have to find some sort of other asset, papers, something.

Night falls and falls with a roar. A veteran grabs a rookie and shows them the meaning of sacrifice.

We hold against the dark - and then - from above - light falls like a comet across the darkening desert skies.

The Sigilcraft expands a final shell, punching clear through the barrier, slippery trails of lost time flickering after it. It explodes just before we expect.

And then the craft falls silent.

To Rebus:
"You managed to make the Scholae retreat, nice.
We managed to operate the turret in the Barracks that held the Pathfinders off.
I suggest the ones that aren't in melee range nade the 9 remaining Husks at your position."

"Swarm's awake, and is breaching the barricades we set up. The backup inhibitor is on Tatiana, one of our husked teammates who was in the South-East. Currently nearly brawling with our forces.
You're too far to reach it so we'll handle it. We'd help you with bagging the Scholae, but we're busy handling the Swarm, Legion, and Husks close to overrunning us.
I'm about to fire canister them. It may be too far to reach you, but that's a caution."

[Rebus #1]
Why
won't
you

die

Scholae Veritnor

I serve a Higher Cause.

I stood with Palatine Vesperian at the gates of Isvind
I took the barricades in Isvind Forest
I was first across the River Howarth
I pried this blade from the hands of a knight too honour bound to retreat

And when the Palatine commanded it, I turned on the Theurges along with the Legion I served and bled and fought and died with.

You think I fear your bullets? Your blades? The pain you bring with small minds and smaller spirits?

I once raised my hands against those with a higher purpose. And I was remade in the Empyreal Fire. I fell in battle against those you now proclaim your enemy, and I was born again by the light of the Spheres.

You cannot harm me.

Now yield, and return to your coward masters with their dreams of people's rules. We will finish what we started. We will bring forth Unity. And all your squabbling dissent will cease.

[Rebus #1]

. . .

Scholae Veritnor

You too will serve. Vanadiar will serve. Those wretched squabbling intruders? They will know Service at last.

Speak your last, dead man

[Rebus #1]

Fireteam?

Load armour piercing.

That was a hairy one, Trenchers.

Lots of good people died today to get us this far.

Well done.

While I can fault your decicision not to breach Ravenpoint proper, I cannot and will not fault your dedication to finding a different way of solving the situation.

We will cross interrogate Operator Soul Voltera and Tveilirisk the engineer. With the brood we have in lockup in the vault, the papers Foly and Cube acquired and the scant information we've gleaned from survivors from the Isvind Massacre and your fight in Imai, we will be able to find a way to proceed from here.

We're not out of this fight yet, Trenchers.

Stunt Driving Practice
“And now, if we execute a smugglers turn and and accelerate, we’ll totally make it over the yawning pit!”

Against all odds, your know how to make a vehicle dance and be nimble enough to react. Your vehicle gains [Reactive].
You may get your full Infantry Reaction in a vehicle (9 Base) and may React as normal.

--

Pilots were a bit sparse this mission. It behoves Command to reiterate:

>Experimental Gear for Pilots Previously Field Tested:
>Pilots may pick these for their vehicle. Each piece past the first reduces INT by 4 and adds +1 Complexity (Increasing issues from rolling critical failures).

[Vitamer Hydraulics Actuator]
"Fluids are nearly impossible to compress. The 'nearly' is the important part"

2 Integrity or 4 AP to shift 2 hexes in any direction as a jump (This triggers a melee Assault if you do it into things)
Spend 2 Integrity to buy 1 Move for movement or facing turn purposes.
Rolling an 18 on any check might cause a feedback blowout.

--

[EelPlate]
Generate 1d6 Electricity per turn. 1 AP to generate 2 Electricity. Discharge as a Chemsprayer, spending 1 Point for Range.

Note that Electricty Arcs, Conducts and interacts really badly with certain environments and metallic opponents.

--

[Linked Firing Solutions]
Double AP cost to fire most costly weapon.
Fire second weapon with same attack versus same target (separate roll).
Damage accrues simultaneously.
>>
>>2726285
1, 7
Non Regulation Adjustments
“Look, I just played with the wiring a little!”

You may adjust the stats of a vehicle by spending time in the garage

5 Int buys a point of DR
1 DR is 5 Int
5 Int / 1 Dr buys a weapon slot
10 Int buys off one penalty normally associated with your vehicle

On Map, you may roll vs AP as a skill to kludge together a momentary solution to a problem

Pick that or stunt driving.

as for getting better at talents, Trenchers that push themselves discover conditions that trigger an evolution.

You intend a rescue mission?

The Pytherian's are breaking through the last Seriaki hold out. The 2nd and 5th have been routed. The 3rd are cut off.

We do not have the time.

High Command is requesting all forces return to Isvind to buttress the defences, stalling for time until our allies manage to mobilise sufficient material to rally.

We need to leave the Sarethian coast-line and double time it back before the Pytherian advance capture the port of Ausfelt, which we /need/ to even disembark with the information we have!

Trenchers, it simply isn't possible. He knew the risks. Pack your gear, stow your equipment and get some rest. We leave at the break of dawn.
