<You are Erick Vanders, assistant manager at WalMart Supercenter in Washington DC. Or so you were, until an untimely death saw the end of your normal life. Now, you find yourself trapped, along with several others, in an unforgiving death game orchestrated by an enigmatic black sphere known only as Gantz. Its rules are simple: hunt and kill monsters, aliens, from other worlds before the time limit, or be killed by them. With the promise of a way out, and Gantz's technologically advanced arsenal as your driving force, can you live through the agony of life after death? Or will your mind and body break like the hundreds of others that lived before you?>

The surveillance room was little more than broken scrap and destroyed furniture by the time you and the others were finished shooting. It was a strategically important section of the museum, but a part of your rage had blinded you to utterly decimating it. You didn't have anything to learn from these aliens. There was no scheme against you, the world, or such cliches here. Just a sudden impulse and an emotional state of destructive ire.

For all of the shouting of familiarity or human-like appearance at the start, there was a cold, calculating fury in your aim in that room. The security guard, the curator chick, and her little clone assistants, they only seemed like targets now, and not living beings that once talked and acted human. Perhaps it was good that you were taking out part of your anger at this immobile equipment. At you knew it would never try to act human. For all of the bravado before, in those 10 or 15 seconds that you continued to fire into the room, you could only feel-

"STOP!", Yukino shouts, running to the front, "we're not winning anything by over killing this place. Isn't it enough that we took down the cameras?"

Yukino's words and almost running into your gun-line snap you out of that red glossed state. You actually had to shake your head awake from that blinding impulse, but Paula's hand your shoulder helped to calm you down further. Kurtis and Dante had actually stopped a little before you had, but you had failed to notice as they also just looked you with slight fear or confusion. Only Chris seemed to be a real loss on why you had stopped shooting, though he subsequently stopped not long afterwards.

"Please Erick," Paula states, still holding her hand on your shoulder, "Yeah, that message was annoying, but we can't lose time just destroying this area. We need to head to the others and prepare for what's ahead."

"She said 10 minutes right?", Kurtis adds, looking at the exploded husks of computer and monitor, "Crazy bitch was so sure about us being dead too right after. What does she intend to do?"

"I don't know," Dante answers, then holsters his rife, "But I don't intend to stand around here to find out. Erick, I suggest we go as well, unless there's something we missed in here."

"I don't think we could have missed anything," Chris jokes, a dry chuckle escaping from his lips, "Things are easier to shoot they're standing still. Unlike those crazy bitches in the atrium, never seen anything move that quickly."

Dante sighs at Chris's shitty joke, but he nonetheless nods in agreement at his statement. As their exchange went on, you were still trying to ease yourself out of that rage and into a more nervous state of mind. Your hands were shaking a little as you let the others know what to do next.

"We're leaving," you command, holstering your pistol, "there's nothing left here anyways. We can discuss a plan with the others when we get back and see if we can help them."

The others, with the exception of Chris, nod in agreement and head for the door back to the access hallway. Paula gives you a slightly worried glance before she passes you, and you try to give her a reassuring smile. She sighs a little, her eyes dropping slightly before she heads to the front door as well. Behind the others, you hear a shuffling on broken wood and glass, and see Chris approaching the destroyed husks of the computer monitors.

"You guys go on ahead," Chris replies, looking over to the main console, "I've got something to do before we head out. Don't worry, it won't take too long."

"Mind telling us what you're doing first?", Paula states, earning an annoyed look from Chris, "I'm all for investigating, but you're not exactly on a good streak here Chris. You're-"

"Don't worry I'll watch him," Dante responds, heading to Chris's side, "you guys can go on ahead with the others. We'll be fine here."

Paula goes to object, but you ease her hand and bring her back to the front. She reluctantly agrees to Dante's plan and heads out with Yukino in tow. You and Kurtis give the pair one last look before heading out with the others.

After exiting the metallic lined access doors to the hallway back to the main warehouse, you see the others still in varying states of pain. The twins seem to have taken nasty slashing cuts along the backs of the suits, the spinal enhancements now torn from their suits. Carol and Allie are laying down in similar states of pain, though Allie's cauterized gash on her side isn't as messy as Carol's own stab wound. You and the others quickly head there to see the extent of the damage. In spite of their own injuries, Tanjeet and Maria seem to be working as much as possible to help the others out.

Kurtis beats all of you as he rushes to Allie's side, helping Maria to keep her wound disinfected. There's a cry of pain in her voice as the disinfectant gel does its job, but Kurtis is there to keep Allie steady. You and Paula head to Carol's side to get her stab wound cleaned up, helping to position her with Tanjeet so she doesn't lose too much blood as he puts the last of his bandage on her.

"I don't know how you do it man," you state, looking over Tanjeet's work, "broken leg, almost no supplies and you're still going. They'd be fools to not take take you in as an intern man."

"Thanks," he replies, looking over to your hand, "though you're pretty good at that yourself Erick, pushing through pain. Though, something tells me there's not much good news out of that security room."

"Christ, let there actually be good news for once," Carol adds, taking in a slight breath.

"Unfortunately not," you state, then looking at the access doors to the security room, "we got a warning that in 10 minutes something bad is going to go down in this place. Whatever those aliens have planned, we can't stay here much longer."

"I said good news Erick," Carol replies, chuckling a little afterwards, "for real though, 10 minutes isn't that long of on the clock. We don't really have a plan on what to do either."

"Yeah, and it's going to take a bit," Tanjeet adds, looking to the other wounded, "a lot of our team got hurt bad during that last fight. Yeah, they can walk, but they're not going anywhere fast with what they're sporting right now."

"We're going to have to leave either way," you retort, perhaps a bit more harshly than you wished, "if we stay in one area too long we'll be sitting ducks either way. Surveillance is down, yes, but we still have the remaining 2 aliens."

"We can get to safety before we argue further," Paula follows up on your words, heading to Carol's side, "I'll help with getting the others to safety as well, so don't think we'll fall behind. We can think of a plan at our destination anyways."

Carol and Tanjeet look at each other with a worried expression, but resign to your decision in the end. It's at this time that Dante and Chris return from the room, and they both head to your side at a rapid pace. Their shouting of your name only brings more attention to you, as some of the others start heading to your location.

"Erick, we found something," Dante says, bringing up an old black and white photo with some very familiar figures on it, "date says it was '45 on the back, but the images on the photo look identical to the aliens right now. No changes, except maybe their clothing."

"It's pretty weird though," Chris wonders, somewhat strangely given his regular mood, "how did no one notice they were the same for that many years? Not that I care too much, only really wanted to see if they had any big firearms in that security room."

"They've been here since the 1940s?", you wonder, and then quickly shake your head in response, "Well we can discuss it later. Right now, we need to get out of here. Can you two help out the rest of the group?"

Dante nods while Chris just says 'whatever' and they both go help the injured in your efforts to vacate the area. You take a last look at the photo in your hands, noticing that while this probably wasn't an official staff photo, every person in it was indeed in the museum during the field trip. Given the current state of affairs, it would have to wait. While some of them definitely need help standing, they are more or less ready to head out. Whether or not they're happy about it would have to wait until you all were safely out of this place.

With the elevator being out of commission your group doesn't have many options to reach the first floor. On instructions from Dante, you and the others head towards the employee exit to the bottom floor. Tanjeet was quite right at your speed however, as it takes a little longer to get out of that warehouse with the wounded out as well. You and the others reach the exit and see yourselves the bottom atrium.

The food court and gift shop stand opposing to each other as your group emerges behind the elevators reaching down there, though they don't appear to be in operation at the moment. In fact, there's almost no light in part of the museum, unlike the dimly lit portions in the first floor. It is for this reason, that you all don't notice a falling figure that blindsides a good portion of the group.

Shouts of pain and anger emerge from the group, as male figure wearing a Gantz suit is now holding an x-Gun to Carol's head, and is moving away with her slowly back towards the back exits. The rest of the group ready arms, but this prompts the figure to further press the gun to Carol's head.

"Nobody fucking move!", Mahsann demands, rage and tears in his eyes, "She told me how to use it before you bastards killed her!"

"Hold on!" you shout, "what the fuck do you mean we killed her?! We never-"

"Her head exploded, all because of this sick game you're all playing here", he shouts to your group, priming the gun, "but I have had enough of it. Now, you'll tell me what is happening here or I will kill this bitch right here and now!"

"Like hell you are!", Dante shouts back, running forwards towards the two with his suit active as he does. Carol shouts for him to stop, before that familiar firing flash from the muzzle of the X-Gun appears. Dante almost stop dead in his tracks when he sees that he's about to ready another shot to her head, and Carol starts shaking as her suit lights up to register the hit.

There is a whine down from her suit, as they buttons' lights shine for a second before going dark. A dark, viscous fluid soon oozes out of the buttons and there's a set of visible tears on Carol's face this occurs. Her face is ripe with terror, and Dante's own matches it in anger towards this man, but he know the moment he takes another steps, Mahsann will pull the trigger.

"The next one is going in her head," Mahsann states, before priming the second shot, "What the fuck, is happening here, right now. No, bullshit this time, but a proper explanation."

>Talk him down, try to resolving this amicably
Alright, no bullshit.
Gantz, the black ball, basically cloned us after we died, giving us another shot at life. The catch is that every couple weeks we get beamed to the room to go kill aliens on a mission, and it's all in a set area. Leaving the set area causes Gantz to kill you because we all have explosives in our head for the hunts, so we can't go too far away from the targets.
But there's hope! If you can help us and stay alive long enough to get 100 points from killing aliens, you can use that to bring your wife back to life.
>point at Kurtis
I got Kurtis here killed because I fucked up on one of the hunts, but I kept fighting and got enough points to bring him back. If I can do this, then so can you! You just gotta calm down and work with us, okay?

"Let her go!", Paula shouts, earning a stare from Mahsann, "she didn't do anything to you damnit! None of us did! If you do this, you're not leaving this place alive."

"Going to keep threatening me with a hostage?", he replies back, his arm tightening on Carol's neck, "Let me make it damn clear then. If I see so much as a twitch from you all, I will blow her fucking head off!"

"What do you even want from us?!", Maria responds, her breathing getting a little shallow, "We had that poster to tell you in the room?! What the more else do you want?!"

"Oh, I see, let me make this simpler then," he states, a fearless expression lining his face, "I'll give you until the count of three and you'd better hope I like what I hear. If I don't hear a definite answer as to what is happening here, then say goodbye to your friend."

"1"

Everyone's looking at each other nervously, as Carol's life is held in balance from an answer by your group. You don't have time to deliberate on options, only action.

"2"

Fear and horror grips the group as the countdown continues to wind down. If anyone makes even so much as an errant twitch, this bastard will pull the trigger on Carol. So, you resort to the one thing that separates mankind from the rest of earths animals.

<LUNGING SAVE ACTIVATED>

"Thre-"

"ALRIGHT!", you shout, silencing the countdown from Mahsann, "I'll tell you everything, but you have to promise me that your gun goes down the moment I finish. Alright?"

"Fine, then," Mahsann says, priming the gun again, "Start talking, if you're the leader of this group. You must know the most, right?"

"I do, so let's start from the beginning then," you state, not dropping your serious look from Mahsann, "We're all here because we died and got revived to carry out extermination missions by that black ball in the room. Every one of us is in the same position as you."

"This isn't some prank or game we're playing," you continue, and see Mahsann's grip not releasing from the weapon, "we are stuck here, just like you. It's not a game to us, but it's a game for someone or something else; but we don't know what that is either."

"So, what you're telling me is," Mahsann replies, his expression lowering, "We're here because that ball wants us to kill something, aliens as you mentioned in that poster? Am I getting this right?"

You cautiously nod in response, but then quickly start prepping the back of your heels from the floor. It just ocurred to you that he hadn't probably seen any aliens yet since he didn't enter the museum with you guys. Furthermore, there was no way of proving it now, considering the last of those aliens were probably hiding from you right now. You get the feeling this was probably not the correct way of going about it.

"Let me guess," Mahsann continues, but now wavering a little in his grip of the gun, "this is all some men in black bullshit with the government or something right? Hahahha...wrong fucking answer."

There is a split second as Mahsann pulls the trigger that you quickly prime your suit and launch yourself like a bullet towards him. The action is so unexpected and fast that it causes him to flinch in that second with his shot. Your body soars through the air and you nail a punch right to his face, knocking him to the ground. The momentum causes you to continue your flight, and Carol falls to the side, as you land on Mahsann's now blinking suit.

There's some shouting from the others as Dante now moves to your position. He almost pushes you off as he grips Mahssan by the suit's collar and yanks him to one of the food court's pillars. Then, Dante starts beating him down, until Mahsann's suit powers down as well.

"Don't gamble with other people's lives," Dante states, his arm gripping Mahsann tightly, "because you always put your life right there along side theirs, asshole. Let's kill him right here Erick, his ass is not going to hurt anyone else!"

"You're never going to get away with it!", he shouts, but Dante's grip gets even tighter, "I'll tell...everyone...about what happened here. This fucking game...all of this...it's going down the moment I leave..."

-1 Trust (Tanjeet, Maria, Claire, and Silvia)

"No, we're not murderers Dante," you state, earning a look of confusion from him, "we're not going to kill him, but we aren't taking him us. Break his legs and let's get out of here."

"Wait what?!", Tanjeet virtually screams from the back of the group, and Maria brings him closer to you "Erick, I know he's an attempted murderer but that's no better than killing him here! The aliens aren't going to-"

"If we let him go free, there's no telling what he'll do next," you retort, shooting a serious glance at Tanjeet, "he can't be trusted. I'm sorry, but I'm not about to lose at teammate in this mission."

"What about Falaq?!" Maria replies back, giving you an equally serious look, "you didn't even look for her during our attack. So it's not a teammate if they're not here for a mission with you?"

"Don't you dare Maria," Paula replies for you and starts approaching Maria, but she does not back down, "Erick came back for you and your little posse the moment you all ran in the last mission. Teammates don't back-stab on another."

"But how is this helping anyone though!?" Silvia shouts next to Paula, with Claire following up, "Can't we just knock him out again or something?! This is too much Paula."

"There's no such thing as too much with a traitor," Kurtis responds, surprising the twins, "someone like him isn't going to open up to us, much less trust what we have to say. If anything, Erick is being too nice with this asshole."

"I'm sorry, but this isn't a discussion," you add, moving past Paula and towards Tanjeet and Maria, "This is life or death, with consequences for our actions that I will see to the end. We're leaving, he's not, end of story. Dante, make it quick, and hide him behind the food stands so the aliens don't find him."

You don't listen to what Tanjeet or Maria say afterwards, nor do you really care as you lead the rest of the group towards the powered down escalators. It wouldn't have mattered really, your mind was set as it was with your decision, though you could feel the dirty looks from Tanjeet, Maria, and the twins as you climbed the escalators to the first floor. Carol, Chris and Dante stayed behind however.

You couldn't really blame Carol too much, considering Mahsann had made an attempt her life. You'd figured there was some sort latent sadism in her to want to see her attacker in horrible pain. Dante was probably just following your orders, but you figured that he would have felt the same as Carol. Chris on the other hand probably just liked to see this kind of sick shit on the daily. That being said, you didn't need to be there to know that Mahsann wouldn't be able to walk again.

The screams told you more than enough.

Chris, Carol and Dante arrive to the Ocean Hall not a few moments afterwards, and somehow making the silence in the exhibit all the more silent. No one had spoken up or tried to make conversation after that argument, a fact further amplified after the last three members returned to your group. The twins had barely exchanged glances at you while Tanjeet and Maria were trying their best to not scowl in your direction.

"Jesus christ did someone die in here?", Chris blurts out, abruptly breaking the ice, "Oh wait, no that would have actually been a better plan. Whatever Erick, it's not my group, right?"

There's five astonished faces in the room after he makes this comment, four which were more disgusted than astonished though. Yukino's own grows a bit of scowl but she doesn't say anything to Chris. Not surprisingly, Dante's there to slap him in the back of the head at the tasteless joke.

"Shut up Chris," Dante replies, and quickly moves to your location, "Erick, there's something weird going on with the scanner. Remember how those signatures were showing up small?"

You look over to Dante's scanner, with Paula, Yukino, Kurtis, and Allie hovering close to look. You knew there were only five aliens in the museum, which displayed two of those circling that warehouse area you were just in. The strange thing was, it wasn't just two, but four as one of the signatures seemed to be overlapping another, and another seemed to be stuck somewhere in that warehouse.

"What the hell...?", you blurt outloud, "How can they still be alive? We saw them disintegrate."

"That's not the craziest shit though," Chris adds, zooming in Dante's radar, "look near where we are. Do you see it yet Sherlock?"

Your eyes adjust to the point in the map, and then quickly widen when you realize just where it is. You turn your head towards Tanjeet, and his bag, not 4 feet from where you are right now. You double back to the radar, and indeed see that there is a signature coming from the inside of that bag.

"How is that...?", you start to say, before the sound of wheels on pavement alert you and everyone nearby. Whatever the hell was going on here, you were not going to be caught unprepared again.

With the sudden intake of repercussions, the sound of that car screeching outside almost makes you jump out of your skin. You pull away from Dante's radar and head over to Tanjeet's side. The twins take immediate notice of you and quickly start eyeing you warily, while Tanjeet and Maria just acknowledge your presence with a simple, 'What is it Erick?'.

"I need to look inside your bag," you state, earning a confused look from Tanjeet, "the radar's picking up a signature from inside there. Whatever it is, I don't want to have anymore surprises this night, so please let me look inside."

Tanjeet and Maria give each other a concerned look, but Tanjeet just sighs and hands you the bag to look inside. You quickly notice that there's not much medical supplies remaining, just a roll of bandages and half empty bottle of disinfectant gel. You almost feel bad enough to reimburse Tanjeet for the cost but the thought is swatted away as you find a familiar white and oval gemstone.

Dante and the others are swarming around you at the moment as you pull out the gem, and quickly glance at Dante's scanner. You glance back at the gem, and try to move it a little to the side to confirm your suspicions. Sure enough, the small signature on the radar moves with you and the gem. It was definitive in your mind now, what was going on.

"It's the gems...", you conclude, showing it to the others, "the bodies or the aliens we thought we were killing were fakes. The gems are the aliens, not the people they're attached to!"

"How do they even do that...?" Tanjeet asks, as he curiously eyes the white gemstone before him, "Are they like some kind of replicating cell or is it like a construct out of the main body? I've never even seen or heard of anything like it in the natural world."

"Whatever it is," Maria responds, drawing her pistol, "It picked the wrong bitch to fuck with this night. Put it on the ground and let me finish it off Erick."

You would have said "Be my guest" had another blackout not killed the remaining lights in the exhibit. There are a few concerned shouts in the group, though the lights on your suits thankfully illuminate your positions well enough.

"That EMP must have been bigger than I thought," you quickly say, before making a set of orders known, "Everyone, take positions near cover and get ready. Something tells me we aren't going to be alone here for much longer."

"He's right," Dante adds, looking at his radar, "there's two signatures heading to our location. We need to get ready everyone!"

The others don't wait too long on the order, and quickly take positions to intercept in the room. Their cover consists of exhibit stands, and the projector room walls to hide their lights. With not many ranged options left, you head over to the front entrance and reinforce with Paula and Chris near that stand were you left the field trip class.

'It's our turn for an ambush bitch.'

<CRITICAL FAILURE>
-1 AGR, -1 INT

You don't need Dante's scanner to hear and feel the footsteps approaching the Ocean Hall's entrance. You had been expecting two of these alien rock monsters, but whatever was coming for you now was something much bigger and faster than you had previously anticipated. It wasn't shaking the ground per-say, but it certainly wasn't being quiet about its entrance to your location.

'Bring it on,' you think, looking around your group and their ready stances, 'she'll just make a bigger target.'

The footsteps are so close now, you're wondering how you haven't seen it crash through the entrance yet. Then you hear it, the footsteps getting further away, as if retreating away from the entrance way. Normally, this would calm you down as she's getting further away, but the original direction of the steps makes it almost seem like-

The steps suddenly speed up with such an increasing bound you barely have time to catch your breath as a large female figure bursts from the entrance door. The alien is almost twelve feet tall, sporting a bright, sparking purple whip, as she leaps across the room. The room erupts in a hail of fire and netting as the alien almost torpedoes her body across the room and out of your firing range. You head to attack the alien closer, but you fail to notice the whip crack back and wrap around your body.

There is an excruciating pain as you feel an initial discharge of electricity in you, and let out a yelp of surprise as you're pulled out off your feet by the moving whip and the alien's strong arm. It doesn't end there, as your body is flung around the room, like some sort of make shift flail as the alien begins to fling herself and you out of combat in the room. You can't feel the pain, but you can tell the room is certainly getting destroyed.

From your erratic point of vision, you can quickly see that the room is changing. No, parts of the exhibit are changing as metal girders, screws and wires begin to move and obstruct your team. Half of the walls collapse as parts of their supports are suddenly ripped out of them to impede your team. Some of the movement even manages to get some hits in as the slower members don't have enough time to move as the metal begins to trap them beneath.

The grip on her whip is so tight that only the bulging muscles on your suit are keeping your from being crushed in it. But you know this isn't going to last long, as the repeated slams are destroying its integrity. If there was ever a time for a gamble, it would be now, as the rest of your team is trying to recover.

With the amount of mounting pressure on your body, and the near constant impact after impact on you, concentrating yourself here is going to take an obscene amount of effort. Effort and time that were quickly dwindling as your suit was getting dangerously close to shutting down for good. Concentration was not something you could invoke in this situation, so you switched to the next best thing. Gritting your teeth, and clenching your fists, your head filled with pure rage.

Focusing your pain, your frustration and anger to the very forefront of your thoughts, you began focus on the task at hand. The injuries on your team, the repeated attacks from the aliens, and the growing failures you have had this night as a leader only added to this rage. If this giant bitch was going to use you as as a flail, she was going to get the ruddest awakening of her life. You felt that familiar feeling of blood in your lip and in your nostril, as it was met with that gnarling vine of mental strength now leaking from your head.

<SUCCESS> <Fatigue + 1 (- 1 to next roll)>

That gnarling root of psychic anger bursts forth from your head and body as you feel your surroundings expand. The amount of raw mental energy you're tapping into here is physically painful as your sense of touch begins to burn as the force-field expands around you. The pain itself would almost cause you to pass out right then and there, had the pressure around you not lessened. You let out a shout of pure anger and pain, yet you wonder if the others would hear it outside of your field.

The field of psychic energy expands around you, pushing back the whip's tight grip around your body, but not on the actual forcefield. You didn't really know the physics of how a physical object was acting upon an immaterial force, but you weren't going to contemplate it as the amount of power exerting around you was beginning to ebb out faster than you could handle it. What was once a bubble of psychic energy was ready to burst at the slightest touch, which soon came after a particularly violent impact against the ground.

The resulting shock-wave of psychic energy was like a grenade as the whip's was almost torn apart from the explosive impact alone, along with a part of one of the projector rooms in the exhibit. For a brief moment, you saw the forms of Kurtis and Allie flung against the wall from that explosion, burying them in concrete and metal as the projector's wall collapsed. As for the alien, the whiplash of the impact alone caused her to be knocked back and hit the ceiling's whale model, bringing it down on top of her.

As for you, the explosion's epicenter was almost a crater of broken parts of marble and ceramic as you quickly tried to regain your balance and reassess the situation. There was gnawing headache growing alongside a bigger nosebleed now reaching your lips, though you were trying to ignore them as you adjusted your eyesight. The exhibit was almost completely flattened from the assault of the alien alongside the several chunks missing from the scenery as a result of your gun fire.

While it seemed that everyone else is still incapacitated by the scenery's attack, or probably the alien's attack through the scenery, there were two figures now standing next to you. Paula's hand reached for your shoulder, and pulled you up from your almost kneeling state.

"Don't lose it yet Erick," she says, picking you back up, "keep your eyes on me, alright, we'll get through this. It's almost done..."

"I don't know what the hell you did," Chris states, panting slightly, "But that was sick shit man. Now, let's finish this bitch off."

As he said this, the whale exhibit began to move and shake as the alien's body began to rise from it. You weren't going to give her the chance though.

"Get me an opening," you command to the other two, "If those gems are their real bodies, then I may be able to end this in a single blow. Just keep her distracted, alright?"

Paula nods in agreement and heads towards a flanking portion of the alien. Chris, however, just smirks at the whale model's moving body, and then to you.

"I'll get you your opening," he answers, but then gives you a sideways smile, "but I am capping this bitch. I'm not about to lose points this mission because you decided to play hero."

You almost go to argue, but he's gone by the time start to speak up. Not that it would have been a time to argue either way, as the whale model is almost flung across the room by alien's now standing body. From the cracked look in her slopped shades, you can see an eye of pure annoyance staring right at you.

Her gaze is broken as Paula let's loose as flurry of shots against legs. They all don't connect, but one is enough to send the alien to almost a knee as part of her thigh is blown off. The alien doesn't seem the linger on this pain as it moves with great agility towards her whip. Chris intercepts however as he actually grabs the whip and tries to crack it towards the alien.

With its position now compromised on both sides, the alien's almost titan form is put on the defensive. And its attention is set away from you.

<SUCCESS> <Fatigue +2 (+2 to DC on every roll)

While the alien's body is large and now on an almost stationary position, you quickly assess that reaching it won't be that hard. It's getting to that green gem on its head that's going to be tricky. Your range on your psychic abilities isn't going to be enough to get her at this range. Though as you see it dodge shot and strike from your two teammates, you quickly spot a way to her head.

That familiar surge of mental energy begins to flow out of you like a heated vice as you make a run at the collapsed exhibit displays. The shelves are cracked and glass is strewn on the floor but they should still be stable enough to use as platforms. You take a running leap to the first one and find your footing quickly enough on the second one. On the third one, you take another leap from its edge and right at the alien's head.

For a split second, the alien's eye comes in contact with your own, a look of surprise caught in that crack on its visor. It's gone as you extend your hand to grip at that triangular gem on her forehead and her eye clenches shut in pain. In the first amount of noise this alien has made, she screams with a horrific distorted shout as you let the momentum of your jump pull the gem towards your body.

Your grip on it is strong, but you can tell that something is hold you back from pull that gem away. It doesn't prove to be enough as your body sails to the ground, and the gem is ripped from the alien's forehead, as several cracks now form where it once was. The alien's screaming gets to a fever pitch as its body destabilizes in a flash of light and a small electrical spark.

The subsequent gems bounce on the floor, but so do two flashes of light alongside them.

You try to get up from that explosive finish on the alien, however a now surging headache begins to pound inside of your head. Another few drops of blood follow as well, further adding to the drying stains on your suit. Your vision is getting blurrier, and it is taking some effort from you to not start vomiting from the nausea alone. Paula rushes to your side to try and help you up again, but a sudden surge of light from the gems' land spots soon draws attention away from you.

Though, from the current visual disparity you can only make out so much from these aliens. From where the gems landed, two collapsed figures emerge in a similar state of pain to your own. Or so assume given their groans of pain. One of them is that purple alien security guard you fought and defeated in the atrium alien. The other however is a shorter alien, with an engineer's coverall suit on her body and an triangularly shaped hair style.

The purple one tries to get up first, but sends a kick right to her abdomen that sends her against the exhibit's display cases. There's a shout of pain from the alien, but Chris doesn't let up as he continues to stomp into her and plant a foot square on her chest, aiming his X-Rifle right to her head. Closer to you however, you notice that the green alien is soon privy to the plight of her comrade she gets up.

"Amethyst!", she shouts, earning an annoyed look from Chris, "please, enough already! We can negotiate, just please let us go, we didn't do anything to deserve this!"

"And what makes you think we'll do that?", Chris soon replies, his gaze shifting back to the purple alien, "Sorry to say, but we're not in the business of letting aliens go, even if they try to negotiate. Erick, shut her up or let Paula do it."

"Wait...please!", the green alien continues, desperation now growing on her voice, "I'll tell you everything about the back up plan. Just let us-"

"Don't you dare Peridot...", Amethyst, the purple alien, replies in a wheezing voice, "We can't betray Rose like this...we've screwed up too much already tonight...not again..."

"I can't let them shatter you like this!", Peridot continues, now looking desperately at you with growing tears in her eyes, "We'll stay out of your way, please, I know you're their leader. They'll follow what you say, just let us go and I will tell you everything!"

Using Paula's aid, you finally get up and look at the alien's now sobbing face. It takes a second for your brain to process everything happening right now, but it is a strange predicament. You've never encountered an enemy that would plead for mercy, even as cowardly as this one may be.

"It's up to you really," Paula states, looking at the now sobbing form of the green alien, "but you'd better make it quick, because I don't think we've got that much time."

"Chris, keep your weapon on that one," you command, a painful rasp taking hold of your voice, "I think this one is going to let us on a secret. You have my word, your lives for information."

"Erick...", Chris growls, but a stern look from you and Paula shut his retort down. With a huff, he continues to train his rifle on the purple gem, who looks as if she's about to make a retort of her own, but Chris's gun keeps her from speaking. Meanwhile Peridot's expression changes to that of resplendent relief at your answer.

"Oh, thank you so much!", she almost shouts, crawling up to you and almost holding to your leg before Paula shoves her away, "Ow...alright, what do you want to know? We don't have much time, as it is..."

"Start off with your 10 min plan," you demand, "and then about these gem things. Are you guys really dead when your bodies are gone?"

Peridot takes a deep sigh before she starts explaining the plan to you, meanwhile, you ask Paula to start working to clear the rubble on your team. Peridot explains that in the next five minutes, the museum's curator will arrive with the remaining staff to find and neutralize. Peridot doesn't specify to the nature of their abilities but makes not that Rose, their leader and curator, is next to indestructible with some shielding ability of hers. The others of that group include two blue aliens, one named Sapphire, and the other named Lapiz Lazuli.

As for the other question, Peridot goes on this long winded explanation about the nature of her species and how they're not really living in the same way as humans, but more on how their bodies lie in the gems rather than the 'projections' you've seen. The hard light shell, as she calls it, when destroyed will just be regenerated in the gem matrix like some sort of respawn point in a video game. Like you and Tanjeet surmissed before, if the gem is destroyed, then so is the alien for good.

"That's about the full extent of it," Peridot finishes, continuing to look at you with pleading eyes, "The others will arrive in the lower atrium level and will fan out to search for you. Rose is lifting her orders to do no harm, so I'd hope that your group-"

Peridot's ending line is cut short by a flash of light and sound of shooting from Chris's rifle. You and Peridot quickly turn your head to find Chris moving a little away from Amethyst's stunned body. You spot that familiar grin on his face, as he pulls away and you see several cracks form on her gem.

"Whoops, my fingers slipped."

<Continued>
>>
>>2733706

"You bastard...", Amethyst mutters before her gem continues to crack and her eyes go dark. The rest of her body goes limp and her gem explodes into several thousand shards in the exhibit. Her body fizzles with static and the quickly vanishes in a sputter of light, never to be seen again. You are too stunned to even respond as Chris looks at his work with wide grin.

"Amethyst..?", Peridot states in horror as she looks to her shattered friend, before another shot flashes from one of the pieces of rubble. Peridot barely reacts as her own gem begins to grow cracks, with her own eyes going dark. Peridot's body does a similar glow like Amethysts's, and her gem shatters into several thousand pieces. Her body similarly fades without a trace, leaving you even more stunned than before.

"Chris?!", Paula shouts, lifting up a piece of rubble from Tanjeet and Maria before she almost charges at the kid, "What the hell do you think you did?! They were surrendering you fucking psycho!"

"Hey, chill out officer," he replies, that grin not dissapearing from his face, "we had to kill them anyways to complete the mission. Besides, you're going to have to blame Silvia for the other one, cause I didn't make that shot."

Chris motions to a pile of moving rubble and you and Paula notice Silvia's prone form beneath it. She's holding her rifle in her position, and is panting heavily. Paula's gaze, as well as your own, switches back to Chris, and he retains that innocent little smile of his at the incident that he just caused. Finally snapping yourself out of the stupor, and part of the pain in your head, you head to Chris's position and quickly reprimand him for his action.

"We'll talk about this later," you state, as you try to pierce Chris with your own gaze, "so you're lucky that we've more important matters to deal with. Now, help us get everyone out of here and try to figure out how we're going to handle that relief team."

He only smirks and heads towards Silvia's location to help the twins out of the rubble. You go to help out as well but you can't help but feel a deep spike in your gut at the new shattered remains of those two aliens. You know Chris is right, but that lingering feeling of disgust at your lack of control nonetheless hits you.

After the others are freed from the rubble, you quickly give them a rundown on the situation and what you learned from the aliens. Chris earns some dirty looks after he mentions how he destroyed the aliens, but everyone nonetheless agrees that they would have had to die eventually. For what it's worth, it only seems that the twins actively agree with Chris's aggressive methods. You and the others head out to the main atrium to finalize the plan.

"We've got 3 min at least," Dante states, looking at his radar, " what's the plan Erick?"

"Set up an ambush here," you command, and the point to several locations in the atrium, "Everyone with a rifle set up near the pillars or in the 2nd floor. Everyone else, take cover behind the elephant or that reception desk."

"What about you Erick?", Kurtis asks, as he adjusts Allie on his shoulder, "There's not that much space in those areas for all of us."

"I'll deal with it when it happen," you reply, and you just turn to the others, "Anyways, get set up everyone, we don't have much time. Paula, set up with Yukino and don't let her out of your sight."

She nods and takes Yukino near the entrance with the elephant statue. The others subsequently get set up as well, with Kurtis, Allie and Chris setting up on the top floor, the twins and Dante near the pillars, and Carol, Tanjeet, and Maria behind the reception desk. You don't linger too long, as you head behind the elephant statue with Yukino and Paula. Unholstering your X-Gun, you set up with the two of them and try to calm yourself for the coming storm.

There is a veritable wave of exhaustion building on your brow as you try to keep your hands from shaking. Whether it is the strain of utilizing your psychic powers so much or just the growing list of stress from the night, you nonetheless feel your strength start to wane as your breaths come quicker. Paula and Yukino are quick to notice this, as the two give you a shake to try and snap you out of the stupor.

"Erick, are you ok?", Yukino asks, concern on her face, "You look really tired and...sad as well. Was it over what Chris did or-?"

"It's nothing," you try to brush off, but their looks of concern guilt you into saying more, "Well, it's just this whole night hasn't been that great, even before Chris did that. It's starting to gnaw at me..."

"Don't beat yourself over it," Paula replies, a soft look on her fact, "it's the burden of leadership, but have to meet it head on. For the most part, you've pushed through it with a great amount of resolve, so don't stop now."

"I know," you sigh, but nonetheless keeping your tired demeanor, "I just don't want to have another death on this team. I don't think I would-"

The sound of your chatter is interrupted by approaching footsteps from the stairwell. Paula's brings out her radar and you quickly notice two signatures quickly making their way to your position. You lift up your hand to ready the team to take a primed stance at the two incoming aliens. Kurtis and Dante raise their own to signal their readiness. Yet, the footsteps never arrive as they stop, right before the stairs reach the first floor.

"ERICK VANDERS!", a woman's shout rises from the stairs below, "I know you and your group are in here. We've met before, and I know you are a good man, so please, let us negotiate an end to this senseless violence."

"Who are you?" you ask, more out of suspicion as her voice sounds familiar, "How do you know who I am? Your voice is familiar but I can't quite place it."

"Right, perhaps I'd better show myself," she replies, causing you to furrow your brow, "In a peace negotiation, we'd it is better to show a gesture of kindness. Do not worry, I am unarmed, and only wish to speak."

You keep your hand ready to signal the others to attack, seeing if this is a bluff of some kind as you hear footsteps approaching the top of the stairs again. To your surprise however, she keeps her promise, and arrives to the stair's landing with another woman alongside her. The pink highlights on the hair of the curator and the bags under the eyes of the other woman confirm you suspicion to their identities.

"I am Rose Garland, or Rose Quartz," she states before the atrium, "I am this museum's curator and leader of the Crystal Gems. Erick, if you can recognize me, please come out."

There is such a veritable opportunity to end this right now, and be rid of these aliens. Yet, a pang of guilt hits you again, over what occurred in the ocean hall. For the longest time, you had fought and killed aliens that had actively tried to kill you, yet there was something very different about these ones. With a very careful motion, you lower your hand and signal for the ambush to stop momentarily.

"Alright, we'll talk," you state, getting up from your location, and holstering your gun, "But I also want answers for what is going on here. Consider this my sign of peace as well."

You head towards the center of the atrium, and the two women approach as well. You quickly look around and let the others know that it should be ok, and all of them lowering their weapons, yet Chris doesn't holster his.

"I liked the museum tour," you start, earning a smile from Rose, "though, I'm ashamed it's turned out this way. We don't exactly have a choice in what we here, with the aliens and everything."

"I can't say I understand your reasons," she replies, "but I will try to keep an open mind to your thoughts. I assume you are also in a state of confusion."

"Well, I've been wondering about the aliens," you continue, earning a confused look from the other woman, "Why are they, or you exactly here? Why earth? What are you planning?"

"I cannot speak to the other races' reasons," Rose admits, "but we came here looking for a new home, many years ago. Ultimately, we decided to settle in this museum, as keepers and retainers of knowledge of your world. Where we come from, there is little organic matter, unlike your planet where-"

"What about the third one?" Chris speaks from above the rafters, "that green one told us there were three of you coming. Where is the third one?"

"Peridot?", Rose asks, then turns to you, "What is he talking about? Did you all meet Peridot?"

"We met, and she said you were coming," you add, trying to interrupt the current train of thought, "were you trying to ambush us? Please, we don't want to assume anything here."

"Originally, yes," she admits, her calm expression not fading, "Peridot is our chief networking specialist, and let us know of what had transpired since your arrival. Though, I have to wonder how you managed to get her to tell you that."

"Wait, so it was a set up?" Chris continues to shout from above, "Then why are we still talking here then? Why did you stop the ambush?"

"It's interesting really," Rose starts, looking over to the stairs, "We found one of your own in the food court, begging us to help. I did so out of kindness for this stranger, and he told me a great length about you."

'Mahsann...', you mentally chide yourself, 'wait, she healed him? And, she forgave us for what he said?'

"We could not be sure of his words as he was in half delirium, so Sapphire read his thoughts," Rose continues, earning a surprised look from you now, "He betrayed you, yet you granted mercy to him, in spite of his determination to kill. You stayed your hand agains't another, and we cannot-"

Suddenly, a loud, and very familiar, roar sounds off from the behind Rose, right in the Ocean Hall.

'The lion...?' you wonder, looking over to the roar's origin, 'what the hell is it doing here-'

Your thoughts stops as Rose's body almost shivers with what you can only see as fright, as she turns around. Her attention is held towards the Ocean Hall, where the roar came from. For the moment, you think nothing of it, perhaps her own curiosity or fear at a lion being in the museum, yet something on the other woman's expression quickly tells you something is wrong. There is concern on her face, then sadness as Rose turns her head to her, and then to you.

"Lying by omission is just as bad," Rose says, earning a look of confusion from you, "You should have told me you had killed them from the start. I would have only killed you, instead of your whole team."

Your eyes widen to saucers as Rose's face drops to the floor. In the blink of an eye, a massive white and pink saber emerges from her hand, something she grabs by the hilt with her other hand in an inhumanly fast motion. With her hand gripped on the estoc of the saber, she makes a quick, fluid motion to stab you, right then and there. You know what'll come next if you don't move out of the way.

<CRITICAL FAILURE> <BLEEDING OUT - 3 Posts>
-1 AGR, - 1 DEF

Your legs have become quick and strong from all of your previous training outside. And your reflexes have become acute to movement from the amount of video games you play. Yet, there is a certain degree of speed that is achievable by humans, even with a technologically advanced suit such as your own. In the second and a half of Rose's motion to impale you, it was a quick lesson to learn.

There is an almost stillness in the room as that sword entered your body, where even breathing sounded like a shout. It could have just been an adrenaline fueled state of mind however, as time seems to slow around you again. The pain comes in waves, as the initial stab makes its way from your ribs, and out through your right lung. For a brief moment, you can see Rose's face almost looking at you with grief, before you feel the cold hard feeling of the floor on your back.

The immense pain continues, almost deafening the sound of gunfire and shouting from the others as you see several explosions of light start to rain down on the two aliens. Yet, you also see a large pink bubble around the two, seemingly blocking the shots from coming in. In those moments you also see, near the elephant exhibit Paula, her face covered in tears as she tries to hold back...Yukino?

"ERICK!!!!!!!!!!!!", she shouts, a voice overcome with grief and rage, as she jumps towards the two aliens, sword in hand. The shooting almost stops as she runs up and tries to plunge the sword in the shield, yet she is stopped in mid air by some invisible force. You notice that woman with the baggy eyes, Lapis, raises her hand and the lifts it higher, seemingly bringing Yukino along with it as if tied to a string.

"That child...", Rose states, though you can barely hear her through the gun fire, "Lapis what are you doing? Let her go!"

"I'm protecting you lady Quartz," Lapis replies, her skin turning a hue of blue to match the water flowing around her, "We won't tolerate anymore of this interference. Not now, and not ever."

You see her hand clench up, and a horrific scream echoes throughout the hall as Yukino's arm seems to start convulsing. Lapis clenches tighter, and Yukino's screams get much louder, as you see her arm start to spasm much faster, and then it moves to her chest. It is a sight out of a nightmare as Yukino's whole body continues to spasm out right before your eyes, and your pain becomes almost ignorable for what you're seeing right now.

"Don't you dare...", you manage to eak out, standing up and surprising Rose with your resolve, "You're not, going to hurt her..."

<BARE SUCCESS> <BLEEDING OUT - 2 POSTS>
<FATIGUE - 3> <-3 to all rolls> <Learned - Telekinesis (BIND)>

"How can you stand?!", Rose shouts, and you notice that her sword is now gone from her hand, "I got you, right through your lung and severed several hundred blood vessels. You shouldn't be alive right now!"

You don't answer, or rather you outright ignore Rose's comments. In your head, it doesn't matter where she hit you. Hell, you figure that even if she cut your head off, you might just find a way to get up and go after her. You don't care how much punishment your body has taken, only that you have to move fast in order to save Yukino. With the amount of fire just bouncing off of the shield, there's no way your weapons will be effective here, so you switch to a desperate last gambit.

You extend your hand out to Lapis and let that cold rush of focus enter and leave your brain. Yet it is not the fire and fury of your anger driven focus, but a colder more sinister impulse. This is no longer the intent to protect Yukino, but rather the intent to murder that blue alien in front of you. The gnarling roots of psychic energy extend from your mind and into the neck of Lapis.

Almost instantly, she lets go of Yukino as her hands go to her throat. A great pressure is put there, as you continue to lift your hand up and her body rises just like Yukino's once did. You're not sure these aliens need to breath with those manufactured bodies of theirs, but you see this is not pleasant in the least to Lapis.

For a brieft moment, you think you might just bring her out of Rose's bubble, but a shout from Rose and a bright flash of pink light soon hits the room. You don't blink like the others but feel something akin to wall hit your front and bring you back down to the ground. There's dots in your eyes, as you lift your head to see what happened, but you soon notice Rose carry Lapis out of the atrium and back down to the bottom floor.

Chris is right on their tail, before a familiar roar hits you all from the Ocean Hall and a subsequent scream from Chris. You don't have much time to contemplate as you suddenly feel a hand on your back, lifting up. Paula's pained expression is right next to you, as you almost try to stand on your own again.

"Erick, you need help immediately," Paula states, looking at you, "Let Tanjeet treat you, let him at least stop the bleeding!"

'There's no helping this...' you think, looking on as the rest of the team heads to the Ocean Hall or tries to help Yukino up from what she just experienced, 'You have to let me...'

Alright guys, we will call it here for a bit.

We will reconvene probably Sunday at 2:00 PM EST, if time allows as I am heading out next Saturday to visit some relatives.

I will, of course, interlace this week with single posts to keep you guys satiated. Vote and debate on what happens next, because you will need it next time.

Anyways, have a good evening /qst/

Supporting.

Also...I don't think we're going to make it guys, but were taking at least one of these bitches with us.
>>
>>2735521
We could make it by the literal last drops of life we have left in us as we get beamed up by Gantz. It's happened a good bit in the manga, it might as well happen here too.
>>
>>2735531
Last time we did it though, it was heavy bloodloss through our legs. We were severely damaged but not vitals were hit.

This is a fucking puncture wound through our lung. I like to be optimistic about things here, but...christ, I dont see us making it...
>>
>>2735539
If we take out Rose we might make it, the others wont have protection and can be swarmed by our teammates
>>
>>2735539
And I think the legs were worse, I mean, its more difficult to survive the wound we recieved but I thing it takes more time to bleed out from it than having both femural arteries severed

So our targets are
>Ruby = elevator'd, might be damaged enough from the crash to be gem form down there in the elevator shaft? - unaccounted for
>Amethyst = [DEAD GEM]
>Jasper = gem form, we did NOT take her with us from the fight in the lobby at the start of last thread - unaccounted for
>Pearl = gem form, definitely with us but NOT destroyed or sent with Y-gun yet
>Peridot = [DEAD GEM]
>Rose = right fucking here
>Lapis Lazuli = right fucking here
>Sapphire = must be with Rose and Lapis somewhere - unaccounted for
>>
also in regards to nat 1s this hunt
>saved one last thread = ACTIVATED during the gem fusion ambush in the Ocean Hall
>one went through last thread due to one being already saved
>Soul Mates rerolled one last thread
>Lunging Save cancelled one this thread
>saved one this thread = ACTIVATED during the standoff with Rose and got us impaled through our right lung
>one was after the third roll and therefore didn't count
That's a total of SIX "Rolled 1 + X (1d20 + X)" in the two threads we have had so far, but this thread will still continue anyhow, so keep clenching those butts.

I suppose so, but that could just mean that our life save is going to be really high. Nonetheless dangerous.

<BLEEDING OUT - 1 POST>

"Let go of me," you command Paula, trying to move out of her grip, "Paula, I have to go and finish her off. If I do, then-"

"Don't you dare Erick Vanders," Paula interrupts, almost shaking you as she does, "You are going to let Tanjeet treat you or-"

"I SAID LET GO OF ME!", you shout, activating your suit and flexing Paula off of your shoulders. The mere movement sends a wave of pain in your abdomen, but you don't pay it any attention. You start to feel a coppery sensation in your tongue as blood starts to rush in there as well. You're no medical expert but, it probably won't take that long for your lungs to start filling up with more blood than air. As you pull away from Paula at full speed, you decide that at this point, you were beyond caring.

The shouts of the others swarm and quickly dissipate around you as you charge fullspeed at the stairs where you saw the aliens head down. Yukino's body, immobile and with eyes bloodshot and darkened, only fuels more of your murderous intent as you pass her and Tanjeet trying to resuscitate her. The lion attacking Chris zooms past you as you reach the stairs, along with Kurtis and Allie trying help him out. Only Dante even tries to stop you as you head down the stairs, but you evade his grip by just jumping down the entire set.

It is at this point that you find yourself in a curious area, a hall filled with the model bodies of hundreds of birds behind exhibit cases. As you go through there, you swear their eyes stare at you like a piece of carrion. Though you cannot see the aliens anymore, a trail of clear water seems to lead out right out of this hall, no doubt from that blue alien. Though you didn't turn back, you could tell that you were leaving your own liquid trail as well, though yours was probably more grim than theirs. At the very end of the hall however, the path opens up to the bottom atrium and another large set of doors that round about the hall you just exited, along with the end of the water trail heading inside.

The door reads, Baird's Auditorium.

'They have to be in here...', you think, focusing yourself in the last second before heading inside, 'They're not going to leave this fucking place alive. None of them will...'

'This could be it...'

Your mind was made up. That familiar surge of killing intent was growing like a raveous vine in your head. Its tendrils coiling around around your mind as you gritted your teeth to bleeding. While there was never a whine from your mouth, your eyes reflexively shed tears in its stead.

'I'll make it count...'

All fear was already gone. Only that seething, blackened image of those aliens' bodies torn apart remained in your head. Even if you had enjoyed seeing it, the ire in your head would never turn your face to a smile. It was something you had never felt, nor probably ever feel ever again.

'They'll die here...'

Your feet and arms were poised. All muscles in your body and your suit expanded to the incoming rush of adrenaline pumping through your body. Even as more of your blood continued to dye the floor from the pressure, the inner surge of strength would push you through to your objective.

"ERICK!!", a female voice said in the periphery of your cognition. The sound of fast footsteps, about two more sets of legs, followed right behind her. You didn't have to turn around to figure out who that was, nor did you as you burst through the wooden doors of the auditorium to, possibly, your final objective.

'Paula, I'm sorry...'

<BARE FAILURE>

With a shout of fury to rival a grizzly bear, the wooden body of the double doors splintered into pieces, its metallic restraints screeching apart, as you assaulted the main entrance with every last vestige of your strength. What was once a running tackle turned into a powerful leap as you took your first step into the auditorium. Gaining a massive impulse, you lifted your body towards the stage.

Your vision had cleared up by this point as you now saw the astonished expressions of the aliens looking up at you from the stage. Lapis was laying down, panting heavily as her eyes grew wide at your entrance. Meanwhile Rose, was in an equal state of shock, yet you saw the beginning shine of that bubble of hers start to build up around her. In the span of 1 second however, they would barely get to react as you as your leap carried you all the way to the very front of the room.

You saw Lapis raise her hand at you in mid air, no doubt trying to stop your momentum like she did to Yukino, until you released up your psychic energy. An expanding field of pure force hit her back against the stage's left wall as if struck by a cannon ball. Rose's shield had not finished forming by the time you used your powers and was similarly flung to the far wall. You weren't giving her a chance to get up as you started a sprint, only for your legs to suddenly fail you and land you square on the ground.

You stared dumbfoundedly at your legs to see them perfectly fine, yet they would not respond. In fact, you couldn't feel them anymore.

'What's...happening,' you thought, part of your vision getting blurry now, 'fuck it, I'll make it to you...damnit.'

You turned to your arms as you crawled towards her. As you doggedly approached, you found a shining pink object on Rose's now exposed belly. Focusing what energy remained in your body, you reached with all of your might towards that pink gem, and then squeezed. Rose's body began to spasm in pain as you applied all of your pressure onto that singular point. Her screams filled the room, as the psychic energy poured from your mind, with its only objective to crush this object.

Through the sweat and blood building in your eyes, you saw the beginnings of cracks forming on that gem. Even with all of your strength poured into it, the stupid rock just wouldn't shatter, yet you were getting closer. More cracks formed on the gem as Rose's screams turned to wails of agony, and were soon silenced.

Though not by you. You suddenly saw what was left of your arm nothing but exploded bone and cartilage lying limply on the ground. You didn't get a chance to wipe the blood and viscera from your face as you were soon pulled from the ground and to mid air. You didn't even notice Lapis's hand raise you from the ground, as soon the rest of your body began to spasm uncontrollably.

What you did see, were the shapes of Paula, Dante, and Allie enter the auditorium door.

'What a sight to see.'

guys, come on, I know Kurtid has the " you did it for me I'm doing it for you, no homo" *sheds a menly tear* dude bro thing going on but...

Paula is literally his soulmate, as stated on ther character sheet, she's gonna be a wreck after this and she's probably move worlds to bring him back. The storytelling potential is more interesting to me at least.

Not to mention the fact that she will probably interact more with Yukino and both having to deal with the loss is gonna be nice to see.

<YUKINO PALMER>

"Yukino?" a man's voice asked, echoing slightly in your ear, "Yukino it's 7:00 already sweetheart. You need to get up if you want to get some breakfast before school, like now."

Your ears woke up faster than your eyes as you turned over your sheets slightly to a blurry sight of your door open. It must have been Monday. You always seemed to oversleep over the weekend, and dad was always there to remind you early in the morning. Hopefully, he would have made his signature blueberry and banana waffles, though even he couldn't compete with mom's cooking.

"I'm up...", you lazily state, losing your covers and hopping off your bed. The light impact of your feet on the carpeted floor jogging your sight a little, enough to clearly see the man at your door smile back at you.

"Usually I have to bribe you with the plate for you to head out," your dad jokes, grinning a little as he does, "anyways, freshen up and get changed. Mom made us some those rice omelettes back from Ebisu."

You almost snapped your neck turning your head around in surprise as he said that. The mouth watering sensation of omelettes, rice and toast in the morning was almost too much to bear on you. Whatever groggy cloud lingering on your mind was brisked away as you headed for your bathroom at record speed. You could swear you hear his laugh as you turned on your shower, no doubt amused at your readiness for breakfast.

<?>

Back in Japan, mom said that uniforms were to show dignity but you always thought of them as impractical. The stripped shirt and low shorts you had on were always good for the spring, and for making a mad dash across classes without getting caught on anything. Picking up your backpack, the little Inkling strap and house-keys set inside your pocket for safe keeping, you headed out to the kitchen for some of that good breakfast.

"Don't forget your charger, Ulrich", a woman's voice spoke, leading you into the kitchen, "can't be a head division specialist if your phone's de-, hey there sleepy head. I made your favorites, in commemoration of your dad's promotion last week."

Mom was in one her typical peppy episodes, something that seemed to coincide with the delicious breakfast she placed on the table before you. There was no need to smell the fragrance of fried eggs, and onions-sauce battered rice, as you quickly sat your self.

"いただきます!", you almost shouted, as you grabbed the nearest fork and knife. Yet before you could dig in, you heard a hurried set of voices coming from beyond the front door.

"Y___no", the started, almost too far or distorted to make out, "p___e, __k_ u_!"

Those voices seemed so far away, yet you could feel their breath right next to you.

<Tanjeet & Maria>
<GREAT SUCCESS>

"Come on Yukino, wake up," you desperately state, not letting up the palpitations on Yukino's chest, "Yukino, please. Don't you dare!"

"Tanjeet,", Maria said, her arm trying to pull to pull you away, "please, we have to go and help the others...you saw the amount of blood in her mouth...you can't-"

"Don't tell me I can't!", you almost roar back to Maria, not relenting on your palpitations, "If I let her die, then Erick's efforts here will have been for nothing. Yukino, please wake up!"

As if commanded by your voice, Yukino's body twitches slightly, and you almost pull back your hands. The first bit of movement since she fell from that alien's grip. You almost reach for her wrist to feel a pulse, but another body spasm causes her to violently wake up. There's a choking sound from her throat as she turns to her side and lets out a small torrent of vomit and spit. Maria is on her in seconds, helping to keep her up as she finishes emptying her stomach.

"It...burns so much...", she cries, her eyes watering with tears, "Erick...where...that alien is going to..."

"Maria, I'll take care of her," you state, moving closer to Yukino, "Pass me my bag, there's a serum packet in there, I need to make sure she's not dehydrated. Help the others, you know I'll only slow you down."

<>

You nod, and head back to the information desk for his bag. It astonished you how dedicated he really was to his work. He wasn't a fake or poser using his degree as a step ladder over people socially...like what you and the girls had been doing. He actually believed in and cared about what he did, so much so it felt almost humbling. After tossing the bag to him, you turned back for a second.

"When we're out of here," you start, looking at Tanjeet's eyes, "I want you to help me study for real this time. It's not just an excuse for-"

"I get it Maria," he interrupts, opening up the packet's cap, "you're not who I thought you were either. So, let's do our part to make it through here as well, and the we can talk about getting serious."

'To the point as always,' you think, nodding to him, 'but...he is right...'

You follow Erick's blood trail, until you see Dante and the others standing around the body of...that lion from the room? Well, more like 3 pieces of it, as it seems someone exploded it into sections. Though, besides a big scratch on Chris's chest, everyone else seems more or less however. From the sound of the group, Dante looks really worried as he explains something on his radar.

"We got three more signatures," Dante states, looking over the radar, "one coming in through that warehouse, and two heading in from that food court. If I didn't know any better, they're trying to converge around Erick's location."

<Dante & Carol>

"I'll take care of that bitch in the storage," Chris spits, and drawing his sword, "If Erick's gone, then I don't have to care about holding back anymore. Silvia, Claire, to my sides and stay out of my way."

"We'll head out to the bottom atrium then," you state, looking over to Carol, "Paula's group has Erick's back, so we just need to keep those two from surrounding us. Stay back and keep to the pillars."

"Wait, but...", Silvia asks, then pauses to look at Maria's expression, "Maria...are you coming with us?"

"Sorry, but I think I'll take Dante's side on this," Maria responds, shaking her head, "We need to keep them at bay with our numbers, and Dante needs the help as well. Just...watch yourselves out there."

Silvia and Claire look down in dejection before they nod in response and leave with Chris. Those two had taken such an odd attraction to him, it almost made you wonder how it developed so quickly. Though, you would have to linger on such thoughts at a later date, as time was currently running out metaphorically and realistically.

"We need to move," you state, and start down the first floor stairs, "Paula's team should have met up with Erick by now. So let's at lea-"

The sound of gunfire and screaming from beyond the stair's landing only served to make your group move faster. Rounding about the massive hall with birds, you took notice of how well Carol managed to run, spite of her lack of an active suit. It encouraged you, to both move faster and think on the side of optimism for once.

<>

'Erick could be dead...', you thought, as the sounds of Paula's scream reverberated in that eerie bird hallway, 'No, it's not going to be like that...And even if it is, then those alien cunts will be as well!'

This felt familiar. That cold, hatred you remember back from the pier and onto the beginning of the third mission. It was something Paula and Erick mentioned was dangerous, even deadly about your attitude. Just this once though, you knew it had to drive you further. These were people that had aided you, taken you from a horrible place in your life, and soothed part of your pain when it hurt the most. The memory made running through that hall almost tireless.

As you, Maria and Dante rounded the corner, you turned your head to auditorium. There was a drop in your gut as you caught a fleeting glimpse of a large red spot in the center of the stage. Your thoughts weren't pretty on what that could be or could have been, yet you didn't linger on the idea. As you all arrived at the food court, a large set of stomps quickly turned your attention towards the Gift Shop.

"Where do you think you're goin'?", a large purple and magenta figure asked, a distinct London accent rung in her voice.

<Allie & Kurtis>

That horrible pain in your side had not subsided, and it only seemed to flare up as Kurtis landed on the first floor. Even though you were in his arms, the blunted impact of the jump nonetheless wasn't pleasant. You didn't complain on bit though, as you quickly took off from his side to follow Paula and Erick.

Whatever adrenaline fueled high you were on right now seemed to blunt the sharp pain on your side, as well as the world around you. Yukino was probably dead, but hopefully Tanjeet and Maria were helpful enough to save her. Chris was getting attacked by a lion, but you were somewhat certain that Dante and the twins would be able to aid him.

At the moment of running down those long winding steps, the only thing on your mind were all of the horrible scenarios that awaited Erick by his lonesome. You had never thought of him as a reckless guy, though he certainly had a lot of balls for how much he tried. Couple this with his cunning, and it would almost make Erick attractive in your eyes had Paula not already been there.

"Allie, look out!", Kurtis shouted, too late as you collided with Paula on the stair's landing. She looked like she had slipped on something and had almost gotten up before you arrived. After Kurtis arrived to help the both of you up, you quickly noticed what she had slipped on. It was smeared on the ground now, and had partially stained both of your suits.

"He's bled this much...?", you stated, almost white with horror, "Oh my god...he can't have more than a few minutes le-"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence," Paula hisses to interrupt you, and then launches herself forward again, "Follow me and help or don't. I am not letting him die!"

<>

Paula's words were something to truly behold, as it only took that much to set you forward as well. Allie followed right behind, as you all suddenly rounded out the corner to see Erick's body suddenly burst through a set of wooden doors. Paula's shouts for him to stop only seemed to make his impulse all the greater as he headed inside.

You didn't hesitate to head in the now destroyed doors with her, but were subsequently blown away by something like a wall of wind. When you came to, Paula was heading inside again, and you and Allie joined in to see a sight to sink your heart. Erick's now armeless body, was suspended in mid air, by some invisible force, spasming and flailing slightly as you could only watch.

He actually smiled at the three of you, suspended in mid air. The sight didn't last much longer, as the violent spasm turned into an even more violent explosion. There was no fire, no loud bang or concussive force. Rather, it was more like a jittering bag of meat and sinew, expand and the burst all at once, only leaving bone and an unrecognizable stain on the floor of the auditorium. It was something out of a nightmare, yet neither you nor Allie had the voice to scream or shout.

"ERICK!!!!!!!"

Writing POVs is actually a lot of fun, not gonna lie, since it actually let's me cheat a little bit with character interactions here and there. Hope you guys liked these, and I might end up making some of these at a later point for the paste-bin other areas.

Anyways, this marks the end of Episode 7, but not the hunt itself. As we will continue off with Paula Torrez taking our player role.

I would also like to clarify on how the 'Death System' will work. Death in Gantz is common, and will take anyone that's not prepared or is ignorant of the world. So, in order to avoid the quest ending prematurely, you guys can choose to select a new character should a previous one die. However, there are three stipulations with this system.

>The character cannot have negative trust with you
>The character must be alive currently in the game
>Should the previous character get revived, you guys have the option to switch back to that character

I will add this to the rulings page in the time we get to the next episode.

Speaking of which, there will not be a session this weekend, as my artist is still catching up with some commissions and I am heading out for a small vacation until next Monday. At the earliest, we will have a session on Saturday the 28th of July.

Stay tuned to the twitter for more updates on when this will go as well as more art from my new artist.

Thank you for sticking around for such a trying time /qst/, you guys are my heroes.

Also, was that first OP image foreshadowing or what?
>>
>>2744383
Thanks for running, I was very upset with Ericks death but it was expected in a thread with 6 crit fails

Does our stored 20 carry over since it was on the very end of the episode?

After the hunt can you tell us what we could have done differently? I'm specially curious about what could we do on the last suicide target choice and what repercusions it would have.
>>
>>2744381
Thanks, and keep up with training after this hunt if you wish to make that happen.

>>2744402
Yes, the 20 will carry over as you are still in the same hunt.

As for what you could have done differently, I was debating on doing this after all of the hunts, but I'll cave in to doing it if more people are for it.
>>
>>2744413
I'm on for it.
>>
>>2744413
After-action QM reports are something I would very much love to have from now on. Giving us your behind-the-curtain plan of the hunt, as well as a rundown of the paths we could have taken and shit we could have done, along with your takes on our choices and rolls would be real cool. I think the closest thing that comes to something like it would be a combination of the flowchart trees from Detroit Become Human + extra developer commentary (which, if you consider every hunt as it's own anime episode or manga volume, makes even more sense).
>>
>>2744413
can Paula ask for vacations? I don't know how this things work in the US of A, I get the feeling she won't be in condition to work, and will probably become a trainaholic
>>
>>2744402
>>2744432
>>2744436
Eh, fuck it. I'll give you this much, as I don't think it's going to affect the quest too much if I give it to you at the end.

>>2744948
Vacation is earned based on total length of service in the police force. New officers earn 9 hours 20 minutes a month. Additional vacation time is earned at 10, 15, 20, and 25 years of service.

Right now, Paula has been in the force for about 1 year, and has not really taken much vacation time. Besides that restrictive probation she had early in the quest.
>>
>>2744951
Fuck that's tough, 12 to 15 days a year, damn

Doesn't surprise me really. Law enforcement is not an easy gig, especially in the US.

Also, is it the time to mourn Erick yet?
