''"The old world may be long dead, and nearly all of the gods too but theirs always money to be made after the cataclysm of the heavens."'' -Nygar Tuskbreaker

Welcome to the skirmish Everwinter company, a skirmish set in a high fantasy world where mercenaries lives are weighed in silver and adventurers in gold. You have joined a small mercenary band named [Everwinter company] led by two former adventurers, a theurgist named Lenoy Lockwood, and a Hedge knight named Nygar Tuskbreaker. After making your way back to the town of Bolton, your group has been hired again to clear out a goblin cave and so with steel and silver in hand you head back to the fray.

This is a skirmish so to set some ground rules here are a few tips!
Play smart! If you feel insecure about your health don’t go charging in just because you feel confident. Always be wary, and never be afraid to ask for advice or support.
The game uses a intermediate direction for determining movement. If you look to the northeast of the image you will find a set of numbers labeled 1-6. These determine which hexes your char will be moving. 1 means north, 2 means north east, 3 means east, and so and and so forth.

The company acts as we begin to move in, the warriors cleaving apart the enemy and moving in to fill the gaps.
Skitterheart begins to notice that the dead adventurers have either been devoured alive, ***** to death, or simply death by poison as the slight stench reaches her nostrils.
Tilea meanwhile begins to memorize it, while unsuccessful she is able to make some progress along the way.
Marcus meanwhile finds himself unable to speak common as he casts the spell instead only to speak the language of the fey it should wear off in a few hours but for now well....*cue gibberish*
=Everwinter Roster, Enemy phase]
[Asp 1] Skitter heart Miss streak: one of the hostages are regenerated, and are moving out
[Asp 2] Marcus, 'elfy', Spell successful but haywire, whenever you try to speak you begin speaking in fey instead of common.

The scraps of the enemy begins to move, the orc with a roar kills David as he falls to the floor dead to the eyes of the living and the light in his eyes dim just a little. Aram is stabbed in the gut by goblin spears, the his veins beginning to burn with the inklings of poison.
The lone goblin however puts up a fight as it draws a dagger and stabs Batter twice, it's armor finding home between his armor and shield although even with the battle between the two near the company lies a small pool of water with various types of plants to use if your a skilled herbalist. The shaman meanwhile lies stunned from the elemental spark.
=Everwinter Roster, Act phase]
[Asp 1] Skitter heart
[Asp 2] Marcus, 'elfy', Spell successful but haywire, whenever you try to speak you begin speaking in fey instead of common may act normally though. (RP is suggested for this haywire result)
[War 3] Brassheart, Miss streak: +5%
[Ernt 4] Tilea von Ackleburg, Partially memorized, must try again. Next try will be easier.
[Ernt 6] Nathaniel swift,
[Rvnt 7] Batter, 3 damage from goblin dagger, Weapon [Minor runed] +5% to hit, +1 damage, Magical weapon 5/5 turns
[Rvnt 8] David, DEAD, Use a tap to revive and light the fire again to fight another day although gain a TEMPORARY -2 penalty to health.
[aspr 9] Tloxotl,
[Asp 10] Hazzar, Miss streak: 10%
[Ernt 11] Crowmund,
[War 12]Aram 9 damage received from the onslaught of the goblins spears, [poisoned] act quick or else! If you wish you may attempt to bleed it out as a action although you will suffer your own weapon.
[Ernt 13] Jestre

>Clarification on [Undying], When [revenants] go to 0 health or below they are considered dead for all purposes of the game. Although once dead [undying] allows them to get back up as a [tap] (which does not consume a action) and continue fighting with a temporary -2 penalty to health. Being a revenant is good for times like these when your mortal body fails you.

Sorry for the wait and calling phase along with the lore I promised.

=On magic, and related=

Hedge mages have persisted throughout the world ever since the creation of it. When the god Luverer helped to create the world she introduced to the world the Aether, Mana, the raw stuff of magic itself by stealing a small spark of it from another world plunged into darkness. She began to spread the aether across the old world before the cataclysm, meaning to give it to the high elves that she had created in her own likeness other races began to discover it by themselves and use it.
Greenskin shamans have begun to sprout within their ranks, channeling powerful spells and summoning otherworldly beings. Demons found their 'divine abilities' easier to use than ever, and humanity began to experience a magical revelation altogether as hedge mages and wizards began to appear.
To begin, hedge mages are used in two ways, one they denote a user who has had little to no formal training in magic in addition as a catch-all phrase for a magical user. As the term wizard is often reserved for those who have a position in an office or have had years of training either through the battlefield or through studying under their belt.
Nonetheless, for all magic users, there comes the risk (or gift depending on your point of view) of attunement.
Attunement is simply the term when a person's soul begins to imbue itself with one of the elements of magic. The soul in questions often being irreversibly changed to align with the element. With the body often suffering for it, with the results ranging from mutations that can allow a man to sprout wings from his back, able to naturally create an element of the world, magical alignment that allows the user to cast that type of magic easier and with greater effect, and in a few rare cases mannerisms and personality.
Null souls however are the polar opposite of attunement, rather than a soul being attuned or aligned with one the soul or body begins to be able to repel magic itself. Turning hexes on the caster and outright being able to ignore magic, the ability to combat a manifested demon when reality begins to bleed and warp and the ability to generate a supernatural aura that shuts down magic or create a presence of fear. However the benefits the process to become a null soul varies, from a magical ritual in birth, the stars being right during the day of your birth, or simply having such a hatred for magic that you are able to repel it.
In the end regardless of the circumstances or classification, hedge mages and null souls are one of the larger presences of magic within the world for humanity.

I never really made a name for the world, I usually just call it the new world or just leave it obscured...

The combat comes to a bit of a end as the ork and the goblins are slaughtered to a man. Afraid, the shaman motions to make the call to retreat further within the cave. Aram already beginning to look yellow is quickly cured with the help of a antidote. David is back on his feet as he finishes off a ork with the help of brassheart. Batter meanwhile executes the goblin in a intricate and brutal fashion.

Skitterheart meanwhile after banishing the creature as it lets out a horrific shriek. Picks up and rifles through a bag on the floor, revealing it to be the pack of a adventurer, a few medallions shine in the lantern light, revealing them to have the emblem of a minor noble house. Along with a well crafted silvered dagger. Marcus meanwhile rifles through the goblins and finds a few iron daggers along with a vial of poison the bone necklaces can be ignored.

Looting the dead has its rewards, if you ignore the nagging feeling of doing something wrong in your head. It can certainly pay off if you take the time to loot the slain.
Crowmund taking the time to loot a corpse finds himself with a set of padded armor, although the stains smell atrocious the armor still seems to be serviceable at the least hopefully it will protect him rather than the poor lass on the ground wielding a broken sword.
Tilea scrounges up a set of orcish armor, along with the battered great axe the orc was wielding. Although the orcish armor is more useful as scrap than anything else the great axe could be put to use later. The pouch of shrooms however....
Tloxotl meanwhile finds a plunder of small arms and silvers from the goblins while their armor is destroyed beyond even the worth of scrap the weapons however can be put to use to arming new recruits or simply sold later.

David meanwhile during the frenzy of looting advances with aram and as he comes to the view of a plucky goblin with a bow blocks it with his shield.

>Tlox gains 2x shortbows, and 2 daggers along with 50 silvers
>Tilea gains a great axe, and 2x scrap along with a blood shroom
>Crowmund gains the equivalent armor of [padded leathers] although the smell coming off of it is atrocious.

As david enters through the gap and braces for a charge he meets nothing. Even the humming of the shaman is gone. Only the echoing of the footsteps and the lone goblin and well the orc and the armored goblins to the east. All is quiet it seems that the shamans have made a hasty retreat but how? Taking a moment to focus his lantern he manages to get it to reflect through the cave and finds...Nothing, it seems that what remaining greenskins that were in this part of the caves have made a hasty retreat.
After that, dealing with the sole orc and remaining goblins becomes more of a chore than anything else. Simply put it was a slaughter to say the least.

Nygar : "Everwinter company? I think our job here is done my guess just mop up what's left of the greenskins and scour through the cave. Maybe we can find something that can lead us towards some clues.

Simple, brutal, and elegant in it's own way. The goblins certainly know how to make their traps.
While you don't figure out how goblin 'engineers' can make such stuff you do get a few ideas of your own as you look at the ranged goblins camouflage.

>Spike trap, Using an act can make a trap that when triggered immobilize someone when they cross into the hex and take 5 piercing damage when they get out. Nygar glared at the tome as Skitterheart offered to read it as the cogs in his head turned he eventually came to a decision.Turning towards Skitterheart he began to exude the aura of a null soul. The stone and dirt under Skitterhearts feet seemed oddly 'realer' than it was before and any hedge mages began to feel a pressure in their skulls form as nygar explained to Skitterheart his answer.
"If you really wish to risk your soul, my advice go to Lenoy and ask for his aid he's quite experienced when it comes to occult creatures and that line of work so he should lend you his aid in ensuring you don't go insane. Although if you were to take my advice, burn it in a pyre or perhaps 'donate' it to the order of the null. They most likely will know what to do with it, and if not you can meet a friend of mine within."

>So what'll be mercenary? Go to Lenoy and read it he's had his head around the block once or twice so he should help in the matter of reading it. A theurgist who has lived long enough to lead a company should know his way around the occult and dark creatures of the world. Or perhaps follow Nygar's preaching and 'donate' it to the order of the null? The order should know what to do with it and meeting Nygars friend could help establish some connections or simply enjoy a moment of peace with some tea made of darkwood leaves.
>>
>>2744727
"Mhmh, you were lucky to say the least when Aram decided to take the bullet for you. Choking to death from a dung smeared arrow is not a good way to go. Nor is it a clean way to say the least." Nygar said with a smile as he held up a arrow with the exact description described.
"While greenskins pay the bills, they don't quite do much in the way of renown. When the company grows tired of fighting greenskins we will find bigger and better foes to fight and contracts to sign I've heard the drow are good employers. And most importantly at the end of the day plenty to drink eh mercenary!"

One: Did our contract mention civilians caught in the caves? There were many dead and wounded.

Two: This bag of medallions are emblazoned with the crest of a noble house, and I found them near the captured. What are they, and can they be of use to the Company? And are they related to the civilians?
>Show bag of medallions

Three: This is the second time you have met goblins peddling in darker, eldritch arts. I came to join the Company last because a small wisp of stray sunlight hit my map as I was wandering and navigated me to you.

just now, I banished the monstrosities we have found in the caverns and my lantern changed. What are those monsters? Why are they goblins communing with them?

The book at first refused to catch fire, it's pages stubbornly refused to light as the fire enveloped it whole until eventually with a low wail it caught fire and burned. Nygar meanwhile simply began to open a marked flask and gaze into it as it continued to wail as it burned to ashes. Once the ordeal was done, he doused the ashes with the water inside.
"Good job mercenary, you made the right decision at least their will be one less evil in the world to worry about. If it helps, I will pay for your drinks when we get back to Bolton."

"To answer your questions the first would be no, we were never really told of a previous party of adventurers coming before us. Our employers usually tend to leave details like previous party's attempting the contract out. Tends to ward away smart minded war bands, if you ask me." Nygar sighed as he gazed at the trio faces still stained with tears as freshly dug graves awaited their lost comrades.
"The second, did you say a noble house?" Nygar exclaimed as he looked at the medallions. "Hmm, well some adventurers often bear some markings of their noble house a ring on their finger, or a necklace to hang around their necks. That sort of business, but I do know this one." He said as he plucked one of the medallions and inspected it, the crest displaying a lantern lit with a blue flame and gazed at one of the three survivors.
"You, I will be talking to you later...Privately."He growled at the women as she cowered away just a bit.
'As for the last question, well ever since the war of the heavens long ago, the enemies of humanity and others (Dwarves, elves etc) have been able to summon more powerful magic to their side. It isn't unknown for a band of mercenaries to be hired to purge a cult while the order maintains the tear. Simply put, greenskin shamans being able to do blasphemous magic on a small scale is ordinary. If you took a bit more time to read the books of lore, you will know that most of the gods that have aligned with man are slain. That doesn't mean that there are none left, the 'gods' that Brassheart, Tloxotl and the like worship have survived but the ones that have ally'd to us with the start are dead save for three. Leaving quite a lot of ground to cover, they don't call Ovon the weeping warden for no reason you know. But the goblins being able to summon a full-blown demon do worry me...perhaps it is time I call upon some friends for advice? Also those things you cleansed are simply motes of corruption, they often occur when the corruption from a mad cultist begins to spread and form in reality. Which means someone or something has come across here recently....."

Nygar simply shrugged in reply, "at least you got something from it. Even acolytes from the order can be corrupted from time to time although it's a rarity."

Nygar looked around the company as they began to loot the dead, purge the nodes of corruption and deal with the aftermath of the battle.
Inspecting the artificer medallion that skitterheart looted he sighed and looked at the company wagon being loaded with the salvage that the mercenaries had looted. Today was supposed to be a good day, bring the company to a cave of goblins, deal with the goblins and get a 160 silver reward for everyone and double for him.
Having to deal with one of the noble houses was one thing, but having to escort a child to her home and tell her father that the child attempted to become a adventurer and failed was going to be a disaster in the making.
Nygar sighed as he looked at the failed adventurer still shrouded in a cloak stared at the graves. Today just took a turn for the worse, he would have to get in contact with some old friends to get the company a temporary contract and not having to do odd jobs for the town. Discuss with Lenoy the possibilities, and finally purchase that spot in Bolton for the soon to be barracks.
Adjusting his armor for a minute he thought of what he should do at least the company had a few days before they went back to town; hopefully he can decide then.

>Town phase incoming along with a big update.

Eventually the company returned to Bolton, the towns cannons stood at the ready along with the gunners that accompanied them. The common lands state troops stood at the battlements halberds at the ready to face any menace. After a quick introduction and the flash of Nygar's crest to the guard manning the gate.
The company was let in through where Lenoy waited his staff at the ready as he awaited the news from nygar.
"So how was it? Did anyone die?" Lenoy asked as he inspected the wagon loaded with war salvage while the mercenaries followed.
"Well it could have been better, noone died but we have to figure out about a certain noble." Nygar said as he pointed towards the still cloaked figure in question.
"Ah, well who found her?"
"Skitterheart."
"Well it could have been better, ask for her advice I ain't dealing with a noble this early in the company. Last time we dealt with one I belived you punched out his teeth in one hit." Lenoy said as reminseced upon the time a drunken Nygar knocked out the lord of a distant land.
"...I think I will." Nygar said as they observed the mercenary in question.

>Update 1.1 incoming.
>>
As we begin to hit [Fort phase], I would like to announce Patch 1.1 the combat patch.
>So to state the following changes will be made to the game.
-Each char can attempt to [block] or [dodge] as an action which allows a char to induce a penalty to anyone attacking from that facing or a specific target. If you are blocking you will induce a 1/3 of your melee skill as a penalty (including any other weapon skills) while dodging induces a ranged penalty to anyone attacking within it. This can be repeated using both of your actions to induce a total of 2/3 of your total melee skill as a penalty.
-In addition, I would like to announce the [mauler] skill which should allow warriors to play around with the battlefield. Whether it be grappling an opponent; tackling them to create space for the warrior; gaining a bonus to your melee skill; trying to sneak in an extra digit or two of damage, or simply throwing sand at your opponent. This skill will be available for free for all warriors.
-In addition, each revenant gains the unique talent called =Past life= which allows them to designate which class was their past life to gain a skill in it. Revenants that were warriors in their past life may gain mauler, those that were hedge mages may get a cantrip, etc etc.
>Veterancy marks will now be a thing, which will allow new chars to level up with the party. Currently, every new char will gain +1 health and +5 to a skill of their choice.
-In addition, a new system has been developed for char creation of warriors, [intervention] is no longer a staple skill but instead can be selected along with one other skill from the pool of the three skills [Intervention], [Charge] and [Null soul]
-A skill tree for the classes will be introduced later
-Every character will now be able to carry 5 items with them rather than 4 in addition three types of ammo can be held without the use of an inventory slot.
-Dying rules have been updated slightly along with enemy AI. Enemies will now see and will attempt to finish off chars that are bleeding out.
-Chars that wish to can now [Dual wield], which although will prevent them from [looting] as a tap allows for greater offensive potential at the cost of accuracy. When a character dual wields they split their melee skill in HALF for both weapons. In addition, they cannot use spears when doing so and only gain the weapon skill benefits only once. (This means you cannot stack the benefits of {parry} twice when blocking.)
-All of the above changes are in effect immediately, as the thread proceeds into [fort phase]

>All surviving mercenaries gain a skill point and a self point to spend. Rules for leveling up will follow the same as last time please see the google document listed below.
>In addition [Warriors] will be allowed to select their skills and follow char creation without losing any of their gained talents or advances. Revenants will be required to select their past life to.

The google document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gyn3S8HQ4Rdny0gkLHHvQzKZnkFCu1EK1u-168cJpZI/edit?usp=sharing

In addition here is the description of [Mauler]

-----[Mauler] Once per turn you may add +15 to a single melee attack OR execute a mauling move without the use of a action applying one of the following effects. Defender attacks another target within your melee range; defender is thrown [N] spaces away in a direction of your choice; defender is grappled and cannot move; you apply a penalty equal to [N*5] to the defender; or defender is positioned to another space within your reach; you attempt a ‘tooth and nail’ attack, if collision occurs targets affected take 2 unresisted bludgeoning damage. When using mauler [N] is determined by 1/20 (rounded down) of your melee skill.

>Shops along with a basic skill tree for set classes coming soon. You are welcome to spend your point as it is or role play in the town.

The mercenaries after getting their payment from lenoy and dealing with waiting in line eventually get down to business of shopping. First stop, gairans magic emporium!

A former scholar of Dawnstones library gairan now mostly spends his days polishing counters and selling his wares to both mercenary and merchant. Eventually as you come across the counter you find gairan polishing a sword while he reads a logbook. "Hail mercenary." He says as you come through the door, as he continues to speak. "It seems that your still alive, good good. Hope work has been good for you mercenary as some of the prices have changed have a look. Also recently I received a shipment of grimoires so I have taken up the mantle of teacher. I think I still have my notes on wards around here somewhere..."

Vickens emporium, the odd cat eared man still stays within his shop most of the day and night. Muttering about this and that and when not occasionally venturing out of his shop for walk or playing 'runners and guides' with the local guards he is often seen playing with the unfortunate patients that have found their way to his care within.

Handing over the lantern gairan methodically straps on a set of marked gloves and inspects the rune back and forth with one hand whilist the other methodically flips through a book until he finds the page he desires.
"Mhmh, you know this rune reminds me of when a certain friend of mine came over." Gairan commented as he placed the monocle over his eye to further inspect it. "Yep if my guess is correct this is a rune of the void. Nothing special about it little miss, but it does seem that you have a benefactor somewhere in the planes. While it still hasn't fully formed yet it's said that when it has it allows the bearer to ignore the daemonic presence that demons and such have. maybe you could attempt to inscribe it on the floor as you would a ward? Other than that quite interesting I would say you little thuergist have the attention of someone above even if it' was just a glance." Gairan explained as he placed away the book before he took out a pen and paper.
"You know should meet up with a old scholar friend of mine if you wish I can pen you a letter asking for his advice I believe he works as a Editor now for some extraplanar newspaper. Although it will take a while for it to arrive to him. Something about a llama's delivery service taking so long to get to him. I wonder what that is about..."

>Your rune is a half formed rune of the void, according to gairan it helps to repel demons on the bearer of the focus. In addition he has offered to pen a latter to a colleague of his who may have some further insight on it.

It takes a bit of time to pry the information from Vickens although once you do inform him of your request he eagerly whisks the both of you away to a hidden room within his office.
"So remember mercenaries, I ain't responsible for anything that happens I just gurantee the results got it?" He explained as he led you to a room filled with a few barber chairs modified to be able to have arm and leg straps.
"Remember mercenaries keep your arm, legs and feet in the chair at all times oh and drink this and bite down." He announces as he proceeds to force feed the both of you with a vial of poppys breath and begins to tie the both of you down. A pair of unseen servants meanwhile begin to draw sigils underneath the chairs leading from a pair of cold iron rods to your chair and the bonds restraining you.
"Remember to make sure that belt is in your mouth and positioned right, the last person who didn't well...Let's just say he was lucky to be a draconian theurge." As he begins to strap on a pair of artificer goggles while the runes undernearth you glow for a moment before the pain (and fun for vickens) begins.
To say the least the process was to put it lightly a unique experience. Well as unique as having your body electrocuted with sparks of wild magic while your eyes began to turn a milky white is. Luckily foreseeing this vickens began to inject phial after phial of strange liquids into you as he observed and took notes on the process.
>Their will be another spoiler with the words 'for skitters eyes' and 'for Otto's eyes and lastly 'for both eyes' please be respectful and do not peek into the others logs thank you- Dawnqm

>For Skitter's eyes.

For skitter you began to simply see a buoy in the middle of a dark and foggy sea the night instead of showing stars was instead dark and filled with gloom until the silhouette of a man dressed in the garbs of a dockside worker appeared his lantern burning away the fog as he began walking in a unknown direction as a trail of stars and light followed him.

>For otto's eyes.

The pride of your jewels, the wind in your hair and on your scales as you soared over the world for just a moment you felt the world was yours. Wings at the ready as you flew through the up and down through the world when you came to as the last spark you noticed a set of draconian wings as vickens began to inject the now pale skitterheart with a phial of a blue liquid. It wasn't until you stopped observing him and that skitterheart came to you noticed the set of wings at you back.

>For both skitterheart and otto's eyes

When the both of you eventually come to the real world you found a exhausted vickens as sweat poured from his brow as brought a flask to his mouth before falling down. Clearly too exhausted to speak he merely motioned towards his office's chair. Where upon laying him down he quickly went to bed on the hard wood.
>Post continued.

Eventually walking out of the clinic the both of you began to inspect each other and yourselves for any changes towards the two of you. While skitterheart remained whole in body and soul for just a moment Otto you think you saw a light twinkle in her eyes for just a moment. Skitterheart you simply noticed that apart from the obvious set of wings upon Otto's body their was little difference in the growth of his scales.

>Otto gain: [Draconian wings] While somewhat bulky now they can allow you to glide between place to place if you wish. Allowing you to glide over allys with ease. Although you will have to land at the last hex you moved into.
>-Skitter gains nothing except a view.

The magical shop mostly a hub for adventurers and one of the first buildings built in this town is bustling once again as mercenary after mercenary come to purchase his wares or ask him for the news around town.

>>2754722
Gairan looks over at the counter and gives a sigh as he takes out two books.
"Sadly mercenary, a hedge mage can only 'attune' to one book at a time due. Although I believe I may have a lesser one in store ofr you that you can attune to both this and your original grimoire let's say...175 silvers."

>>2752852
"Well miss..Sir..mercenary, it's hard to say their are so many mercenaries and adventurers that a set of masterwork tools can often be worth its weight in gold. If you wish for one I can attempt to place an order for one but it will be expensive and I tell you."

>>2753645
>Gairan sighs as the mention of a 'swordmaster' comes to his ears taking a moment he puts away the two books and leans in to show his full attentiveness.

"There are a few to say the least, you are standing in the last town at the edge of the frontier mercenary. Their are more than a few self proclaimed 'sword masters' in this town but trust me most if not all of them are false and instead just foolish men with a penchant for the blade. Even your company's founder Nygar could cut half of them down with his sword, even you mercenary can with just a bit of time could cut a few of them down where they stand. Sadly those that truly do wield the blade have either began the life of a mendicant in the capital or have left from this town for now. But do not worry among the rabble of 'sword masters' their are two men that are what you seek. A jolly paladin of Ovon and a adventurer who come to this town from time to time. While they will not be here for some time I believe they will grant you an audience if you just ask. Although do beware the paladin, he has a thing for staring at the sun...."

>>2753459
Gairan takes out a paper a pamphleteer had given him a day ago and after taking out his spectacles reads through it in a exaggerated manner

"Well it seems that Bolton is a bit of a daemonic outbreak in a watch tower quite a days away so the order along with prospective adventurers are quickly buying up mine and other merchants stock of holy items. Do not worry they should have it under control. Although it seems that a group of Drow have recently come to town looking for a company to hire. Mhmh, oh yes and Lutons monster hunting business is going well, so that may be something to look forward to in the future. Oh yes and the emperor has recently slain a titan...That is quite interesting to say the least."
>>
>>2755986
Gairan looks at you puzzled as he flips through a logbook of his.
"Um mercenary I sell items of magical origins, potions, grimoires what have you, and provide contacts I ain't a artificer or a blacksmith....The gilded swords might but they are very adamant of doing what they declare they are doing mercenary."

Hey everyone, IM BACK, FINALLY!

Even after returning from the Dungeon, Batter looked strange.
A headache was bothering him ever since.
The ring in his hand seemed to call him… Call his name…
Is was a familiar voice, a voice that he didn’t heard in a while, and for some reason didn't remember until this time.

A strange man was in the other side of the table, showing a worried smile.
-Batter, Are you ok buddy? Haha, You should already be used to the battles, man.
It was Zachary... Oh yeah, i rebember him now, he was my best friend when i was alive... What happened?
"Hey man, you know, i'm kinda scared too y'know? We are so far away from home, we would happend if we lost right? I have a girl home waiting for me, you see?"
Then he show me his ring, the same ring that i was wearing
"-So, Batter... If…. You know... I didn't get back home... I want you to give her this ring back, you know? She asked me to come back and do this myself, but, i don’t know if i can do this by myself man... And… you always were much more cautions than me, haha"

I don't really remember what happened after this, but my first memory after waking up after beeing a undead was the one of being alone... Truly alone in this world...

Walking into the clinic you find a snoring Vickens, a quick snap of your fingers and he is quickly awoken. "Wuzzat? Tell the troops that I ain't here." He mutters as he unconsciously reaches for a pistol before he notices him. "Oh sorry mercenary, didn't notice you just ah finished one of my 'operations' as to say and let me say it went swimmingly. Still, what do you want me to do mercenary?" He asks as he locks away the pistol as you present your request.
"Oh, just a quick checkup? Come come," Vickens answers to you as he leads you to a simple room filled with instruments. "Now hold still and inhale this, I promise we will track down what exactly is in your soul." He says as he presents to a vial full of something smoky inside of it. "Just inhale lad, it will all be fine trust me your in good care." He announces as he quickly preps a few tools and the process begins.
After it is over he quickly stows away the stethoscope before turning towards you. "Well on the bright side your so-called 'accident' was your body trying to flush out the divine energy before well it was overwhelmed, to say the least. On the bright side, your soul wasn't consumed so that could be a bonus. My guess if you begin to experience a mutation it would most likely follow similar steps to a certain 'patient' of mine. Able to resist holy energy, but weak to the aether growing angelic wings you know that kind of stuff. Although it seems that your body is still trying to adapt to it so nothing yet hedge mage. When you enter vickens clinic he is still a bit ragged but has cleaned up himself and his office a bit. Mostly through the use of a wet rag but nonetheless effort is the key. With a bit of a tired look he speaks. "Yes, come with me over here mercenary and we will run up a few more checks to see whether or not you are still dominant." He says as he leads you towards a room filled with various instruments, vials, canisters and at one point you swear you hear whispers coming from a box.
"Now simply sit here and we can get started he says before he begins." Jabbing you with various instruments, checking your saliva and making you retch just to see whether a fairy would come out.
At the end of it all vickens simply scribbles before he ends it with a flourish and turning towards you. "Well at the very least it seems that you are dominant for now but I did began to notice that your body is again beggining to change. While most people are simply attuned to it by having a shard of the element jabbed within them it seems that the fairy or fey being is still in you somehow..Odd nonetheless if you suddenly sprout fairy wings or notice that one day you feel lively and young you know why."

"Okay everyone we will be heading over to the lords little manor and present him with his daughter; hopefully he is happy that he see's his daughter and doesn't accuse us of harboring a criminal and try to have us all hanged," Lenoy announced as he looked to the company and the little stowaway that refused to part with the three tipsy nygar who was looking into a bottle of dwarf made whiskey and judged his capacity to down it and still be able to walk.

"Your sure we have to take her?" Nygar asked as he inspected the bottle before stowing it later in his pack. "Yes we have to return her, its part of your oath you dolt. You were the one that decided to take the blasted oath so yes yes we do have to take her." Lenoy said as returned to the company.

"Alright mercenaries we are just going to take a days march to the lords manor, drop off the child, and hopefully not piss him off along with the way, and then we can get right back into our jobs now everyone drop your supplies on the wagon and lets go." Lenoy announced as the company began to depart off towards the lords manor the last survivour still clutching her ragged blanket as she was quickly stuffed into the wagon. As the company departed from Bolton a trio of drow emissary were spotted taking notes. Hours later a merchant noticed that one of them had departed from the three, muttering something about a rising war band that may be able to take the contract.

It was a swift days march over to the manor as the company eventually began to deal with nature and nygar began to curse the sun as he in his stupidty still wore his armor. Nonetheless a sweaty nygar and company began to arrive at the manor. The manor itself was quite ordinary as the company approached it, a stone wall surronded the outside protecting the manor within from roaming monsters, creatures and 'unsavory folk'. As the company neared the walls one of the man guarding it quickly questioned the company.

"What is your business here?" The man asked as he peered down towards the company from the parapets in answer In answer Nygar quickly brought out the girl who meekly waved to the guard who simply raised an eyebrow. "It's the girl....Hmm alright, I will send for my lord who will answer you." He replied before walking off.

It took a while but the gate opened to reveal a man dressed in a royal garb who with him stood several men for his protection. The man instead of weeping tears of joy simply had the look of meeting an old blooded cousin who he had never seen before. A look of hollow friendship and one of someone awaiting business.

"Ah Emelia, it has been quite some time come come we shall discuss your return later." The man said as he quickly dragged the girl aside before clapping his hands and turning towards Nygar and the company.

"I sincerly thank you for returning my daughter mercenaries." The lord inclined as Emelia stumbled off towards the manor in question. "Now while I do not have much in the way of rewarding you what I can do is offer you a contract per say you see I have a riv-" The man continued on before he was hushed by nygar.

"So you meant to tell me that we came all the way here to deliver your daughter who I may say more or less you have not seen in by the gods how long and...Nothing? Not a 'oh it been so long i havent seen you how have you been, just a quick how do you do and thats all?" Nygar grumbled before he was shushed by Lenoy.

"Apoliges sir, but my friend here has some issues nonetheless now are you sure you cannot offer us mercenariers a reward for returning her to the safety of your home?" Lenoy questioned as he looked for an answer in the man who simply shaked his head.

"Why if I were to give you silver you would simply spend it on wine and whores. I know of your ilk, why the last time I gave a warband of mercenaries a reward they spent it loitering around the place and getting drunk on my grounds!" The lord said standing his ground. "No what I can do beyond simply giving you a reward is to grant you all employement; employement under me. See for when i was a-" The lord rambled on mentioning of how when he was a child he and I friend were rivals when they were youngers but as they grew older it escelated to the point where they would hire companies of mercenaries to battle it out with each other as they spectated. In response Lenoy sidled off a few steps towards the company and quickly whispered.

>"The noble houses tend to be pricks who although they pay well often try to drag everyone into their petty games of war.

Eventually the noble after a few minutes of explaining a incident began to wind down from his explanation as a drow emissary clad in robes approached the lord. "Hail mercenary's, and Wards." The emissary announced as the lord gave a nod of acknowledgement. "I was wondering mercenary's, if you are still looking for a contract I may be able to offer one. See where I hail a small village of artificers has been attacked by 'vermin' (cultist drows) and the militia to our town have only managed to fend them off. See while I am sure Wards have matters to attend to, I am also looking for a capable group of mercenary to attend to my problem." The eldar said as he sat down on a rock and looked to the group as did wards as they looked to judge the intentions of the company to see who would take their contract.

Lenoy and Nygar sighing for a moment and with a bit of hesitance turned towards the company to ask the question who would they like to work for.

>End of post, but now with decision.

>There are three options here.

>Take Ward's contract, he is asking that you take place in a mock battle againts another warband of mercenaries. As the stereotype goes, nobles often pay well but that means taking orders from a noble. Something Nygar and lenoy resent againts.

>Take the Drow's contract, he (suprsingly a male) is asking that you join with him to attack a group of drow raiders. Judging by the state of his robes and the fact that he is a male, most likely the situation has become desperate. Good feelings as part of the reward but probably a sub par reward of silver.

>Walk out on both, and return to Bolton. (warning you will piss off both people)

David's empty sockets stare grudgingly at Ward. He'd rather be paid by the Drow.

"Ah, Ward, sir-honcho-bigman, Couple of questions at'ya.
First, this contract, I'm assuming it comes with a base pay and a victor's purse, yeah? So, seeing as this is a reward for hauli- rescuing yer kid, we get us that bonus regardless, win or lose, right?
And second, when you ask us for a farcical battle, y'mean with blunted blades and softly spellcasting? So's that, barring accidents, there'll be no corpses ('cept the revenants, of course)?"

Tzig pulls the company in for a private dscussion.
"So, look, if'n he says yes to both a those points, we can pretty much get paid to train, right? We just tell the cheif of the other mercs that we aint concerned about winning, and use the """fight""" to practice some of our more off-the-wall tactics and schemes.
And, hell, if we works fast enough, we might even have time to run down those raiders, if we go straight there, 'stead of rolling through Bolton first."
"Besides, that drow just screams Trap t'me."

Personally I say take on the drow contract. They're desperate, and though they may not have any money at the moment, they'll be indebted to us! A small tribe, or band, owing us a favor. A favor we can cash in should we need one in the future! It just makes sense.

>Marcus clears his throat and puts on his most diplomatic voice
"Out of interest good Sir Ward, how much are the swords of mercenaries who you claim would 'spend it all on wine and whores' be worth to you? Given that should you ask the people of Bolton and our previous employers if we were that sort of mercenary they would certainly extol to you our discipline and virtue, I wouldn't be incorrect in assuming that we would be worth a fair few more coins than that."

>He then turns to the Drow emissary
"To you I extend a similar question. While I understand that your situation brings with it certain, shall we say, limitations that would make your offer much less profitable than Mr. Ward's and the severity of your raider problems certainly fill a good portion of the difference, surely you can think of something you can give or do besides silver that would bring things to equal ground."
>>
Why yes, I do mean with blunted blades, staves, clubs although you will suffer some bruises, concussions, what have you. I assure that everything in the martial district will be blunted. As for spell casting, well I doubt you can 'soften' a spell unless you were to aim somewhere that wouldn't kill the man if it helps I will bring a friend of mine who is quite skilled in the art of resuscitating.
You will be paid the base pay and what have you although I cannot promise you the victors purse. There wouldn't be much fun if their wasn't a prize to fight for eh and I believe this prize is worth much more than gold.
I have along with a few friends have taken the time and the gold to scour through the world for a artificer. He with much persuasion mind you has agreed to commit to producing a masterwork weapon. A weapon fit for a hero mind you.
>Why the same man learned under the master artificer who made the emperors sword

"A weapon fit for a hero, you say? Hmm... am I to assume that such a weapon will be made for the each of us?"
>>
>>2761619
"The man only promised one, and one only I am sure you will delegate the sword if you win to whoever is worthy of it."

>>2761587
"I never questioned your worth mercenary, from what my contacts have told me you seem quite capable of handling a battle against the greenskins. I have no doubt of your capabilities as sell swords and your worth the silver and if you win the tourney you will win the reward of a weapon worth of a hero. Your certainly good at the one thing your good for." Killing

One is a mockery of a fight to soothe the psyches of fragile men.The other is an offer but an enigma to wade into battle with a mystery a place that is an unknown.

We do not have the time. Demons and the Eldritch abound, and corruption seeps from the very walls. I question this. Why was Emilia in those caves? Why did this man not seem perturbed by this fact? He offers no reward but a chance to get us out of sight, and he roosts with a Drow.

I do not intend to bleed for a man with no conscience or to wander in the Dark for a mystery.

Bolton. I shall join you at what-so-ever you choose. But I suggest we return to hunting the direr threat. Coin is found along with valour in actual combat.

Batter does a grumpy face when the nobleman talks about how they spend money, like he does better.
>Take the Drow's contract
A favor usually can mean more than money, we need to have the max number of friends we can get if we want to stay alive in this world
Well... "Alive"

Brassheart stares at the smaller, androgynous being in amusement, chuckling deeply, his eyes glowing warmly. He shoves playfully
"Where is the fun in not giving your all mageling, in mock battles and cowardice? I do not want to die a coward, do you, ah I tease, I can tell you jest. after all, what self respecting warrior would think that way?"

Everwinter company will be on hold for 1-2 days while i figure out the new map. Plan new situations, and have new enemies to toy you around with. Please forgive me for the wait.
