Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls in secret. But now, with their existence revealed, a great cloud of change looms over Dark Gate Academy.

“Sweetie, it's so good to see you!”

As you wander through the halls with the Vice Principal Namika Mashita by your side, you eye up the banner you placed all over the school building this morning, with more than a little help from an annoyed and sleepy Ryoji. Happy Parent's Day!

You pass by Nariko as she's mobbed by her enthusiastic parents, crowing around their daughter likely for the first time since she became a national celebrity. “Mom, you're embarrassing me in front of my friends!” Nariko complains with a shy smile.

“Oh, nonsense!” Nariko's mother smiles. “Now, which of these boys is Hiro?”

“Mooooooooom!” Nariko hushes her. You give a small chuckle as you move down the hall with Namika.

Namika gives a smile in turn as she looks to you. “I feel like this is an excellent idea,” Namika explains. “Finding a safe day in order to do it was a hassle... but I remember missing my parents awfully when I attended this school. These students don't get to see their families nearly enough.”

You nod. “It was a good idea,” you reply. “It boosts morale, gives students a day off in our last semester, and gives me an excuse to make a new organisation folder! Everybody wins!”

“Oh, you are an interesting one, Kobashi!” Namika chuckles. “I never thought Wei-senpai would have a granddaughter so sweet. No offense to your grandfather, of course. So, are you meeting anyone today?”

“Hmm?” you mutter.

Namika shrugs. “Apologies. Tragically, many of our students are orphaned or have difficult relationships with their parents. I felt it appropriate to ask before assuming anything.”

“Well... Ryoji... uhh, my fiance...” you explain.

“I know of Shida,” Namika nods. “He's my son's friend.”

'Friend' is a... certain way to put it... “Well, he's currently meeting his parents at the train station,” you explain to Namika. “It'll be the first time seeing them since we got engaged. I'm... really excited, but also really nervous.”

“That's normal,” Namika laughs. “Congratulations, by the way. I wouldn't have expected someone as responsible as yourself to leap at marriage so young... but I trust you have a good head on your shoulders. I hope it works out for you.”

“Thank you.”

“Though... what about your own parents? I'm sorry if it's upsetting to ask, but... are you expecting them to arrive?”

"Oh... I'm sorry," Namika mutters.

"It's okay," you reply. "My parents and I have had a difficult relationship for a while now. It only makes me happier that I've been accepted into Ryoji's family."

Namika nods. "Well, that's good to hear. Oh, speaking of parents... my own children shouldn't be left on their own on parents day! Do you mind coming this way with me?"

You join Namika as the two of you make your way to the school auditorium, where long tables of snacks and punch lies for the visiting parents. Also there are a group of your underclassmen. Chuichi, Kazuma, Kiriko, Roka, Mio, and Mayu... with the new gym teacher clinging to her tight. Act Nakatoni, Mayu's mother, is clinging to her daughter close as she snuggles closely with her only child, keeping her at a distance from the rest of the group. Mayu is too smothered in love to speak, though you know your kouhai to be a shy girl to begin with.

"How are my kids today?" Namika smiles as she wheels up to her two children.

"We're fine," Kazuma replies. "You can't really have a catch-up with us when you see us every day now..."

Namika wags a finger in front of her son, before pointing at Roka. "No, but I can meet the parents of my daughter's new boyfriend!"

"Oh boy..." Roka mutters to himself, a small blush appearing on his face as a smirking Kiriko pokes into his arm.

You have a small laugh, before feeling a gust of wind behind you. When you turn around, you see a blonde girl in a tracksuit standing behind you, keeping her baseball cap down low, covering her face as she dashes into the room. "Kobashi, are my folks here yet?" Rei asks.

"Not yet," you reply.

"Good," Rei mutters. "Do me a favour. When they arrive, tell them I'm not here."

"Huh?"

"Tell them I'm not here! Do your ears work, Kobashi?!" Rei exclaims.

>Okay... but why? What's wrong?

>Okay... but why? What's wrong?

"Well..." Rei mutters. "Look, it doesn't matter! You don't need to know about my life, Kobashi!"

You pause. "That's okay... but I'm your friend."

"No you're not!"

"Yes, I am," you retort. "You can tell me what's wrong."

Rei grimaces. "Well... I'm kinda nervous. I haven't seen my parents in a long time..."

You nod. "I understand, Rei... I know a thing or two about having a difficult relationship with my parents-"

"It's not like that!" Rei protests. "My parents aren't anywhere near as bad as yours! They... they aren't really bad at all! It's just..."

"What?"

Rei sighs. "Look, you can't relate to this. We were real poor growing up... my parents both had to work hard to put food on the table. My dad was always miserable from working in a factory all day so he'd sit on the couch and get drunk most nights. My mom would barely be around because she was working as a waitress right through the night shift... so they had a lot of high hopes on me being successful. A lot of pressure to be a sports star... and I don't blame them... but it makes it difficult to see them again after all I've been through..."

"I see..." you mutter. "With all that pressure... no wonder you're so competitive."

"I'm not that competitive!" Rei yells. "... Okay, yes I am. But tell them I'm not here when they arrive!"

"If that's what you-" you begin, but Rei immediately dashes out of the ring once more. "... Want."

As Rei takes off, you let out a sigh. Today is going to be pretty hectic, isn't it? Not everyone is going to be as excited for Parents' day as you or Ryoji, you suppose.

>There's a couple other classmates who must be nervous right now. I should check on them.

You know a certain pair of classmates who are definitely more than a little anxious to see their parents right now. You make your way towards the Class 2 dormroom, knowing exactly where you'll find them at a time like this... Chihiro's room.

Sure enough, as you knock on the door and Chihiro answers with a smile, you see her roomate Sayeka sipping tea by her bed... alongside Akira doing the same. Of course they'd be welcomed into the open caring arms of the motherly Chihiro at a time like this. "Hi," you smile, entering to speak with the two. "How are you both? Are... your parents coming today?"

The two girls silently nod, as you ask another question. "Will... will you be seeing your parents today?"

The two girls pause.

"Saki..." Sayeka speaks. "The last time I saw my parents... well, I was able to see them."

"The last time I saw mine, I had two arms," Akira adds.

You sigh. "I understand. I know it's a difficult conversation... one you would never want to have. I'm... just making sure you're okay."

"Don't worry," Sayeka explains. "Akira and I spoke about this over training and over tea this morning... we will be meeting our parents. It... it will be painful, but what else could we do?"

"I don't want my mom and dad to see me like this..." Akira mutters. "But if the other option is to hide away from them forever... then the choice is clear."

You give a small smile. "Well... we're all here to be a shoulder to cry on later."

"I'll provide the pillows, blankets and tea!" a prideful Chihiro beams. "My father is also bringing some fine chocolates upon his visit!"

"And I've got chocolates now!" Akemi exclaims as she burst into the room with some baked goods. Akemi, always her bright and cheerful self. Behind her in the doorway is an older, heavy-set man with his eyes closed.

"I'm sorry she just barged in!" Riki Ibushi, Akemi's father speaks. "I didn't think little Akemi would... is everything appropriate in here?"

"It's all okay," Akira states. "You can open your eyes."

"Wait, I just need to refasten my bra!" A smirking Chihiro teases, causing the Ibushi father to panic.

Akemi puts a finger to her chin. "But you're not even wearing a bra! I can tell because your shirt is see-through!" she blurts out.

Now, both Chihiro and Riki are embarrassed. It's incredibly rare that Chihiro is caught off-guard.

"Oh, Saki!" Akemi smiles as she turns to you. "Are you going to my birthday party tomorrow?"

"Of course," you reply. "Why wouldn't I?"

Akemi smiles and pumps her fist. "Alright! Another one on the list!"

"Have... you been asking everyone?" Sayeka ponders. "Akemi... we all live together. We're all attending your birthday party."

"Ooh, did you use your future powers to see that?" Akemi asks.

"N-no, I... never mind," Sayeka shakes her head. "What are your plans for tomorrow, anyway?"

"My plans?" Akemi pauses. "I don't know yet... oh, you can tell me with your future powers!"

Sayeka pauses. "Well, I don't really want to use my power for something like that... but... huh. My future sight is giving me... so many different options. You... really don't know what you want to do, huh?"

"Nope!" Akemi smiles innocently.

>Well, how about a quiet night in? An intimate night among friends is a good celebration.
>Maybe we could go... bowling? That's pretty hip, right?

>Don't worry, Chihiro will organise the party. Something tells me she's had it planned for weeks.

"Ohoho!" Chihiro laughs. "You know me so well, Saki! After all, when it comes to parties, I'm as organised as you are!"

"I can't deny that..." you smile. "Now, put on a sweater. Akemi's dad is still waiting outside for his daughter."

As Chihiro breaks out a folder of her own to go over the party plans with Akemi, you grab a cookie from her plate and take a bite, before getting a move on. You make your way back to the main building of the school, in preparation for a certain trio to arrive. You've been anxious about this all morning, but now, they're set to appear...

You stand in the foyer as you see the tip of some white hair entering the room, attached to a young man in a green jacket. Ryoji looks to you with a small smirking smile and a nod, as two more follow in behind him through the door. Ryoji's father steps through and smiles at you, finally followed by Yuki Shida, stepping into the building. Her eyes catch yours, and immediately she begins to well up, before bursting to tears of joy before rushing towards you.

"Oh, Saki!" Yuki cries out as she rushes you with a tight hug. She holds you tight, and you find yourself returning the love as your eyes well up as well. Ryoji Sr. soon joins in on the group hug... and you feel an intense warmth come over you. This kind of warmth... before meeting Ryoji and the Shidas, you never knew this feeling existed... that it could even exist. Overwhelmed in a wave of pure... love.

"C-come on... you'll make me cry too..." you mutter.

"Show me the ring!" Yuki lets out and excited yelp as she pulls away briefly for you to present your ring finger to your future mother in law. She wells up once more, crowding you with another hug. "Oh... Saki Shida! It has such a ring to it! Or Kobashi-Shida! Whichever you're comfortable with!"

"Thanks... mom," you smile, hesitating briefly on that last word.

"S-she called me mom!" an over-emotional Yuki sobs, leaning on her husband for support as Ryoji strides up and places his hand on your head.

"Dad says she's been like this since they got on the train," he points out. "I should have figured she'd be like this."

Yuki breaks away from her husband and clasps your hands together. "Saki! You have to tell me everything! How did you feel when my son proposed? What was going through your head?"

>Nothing, I just said yes. It's what made sense to me.

Upon hearing that, Yuki's voice goes higher, as her tearful blubbering and gushing turns to outright gibberish, with only her husband able to decipher her words. Her unintelligible joyful emotional ramblings continue, as Ryoji's father calmly pats her on her back.

"It's okay honey," Ryoji Sr. mutters. "She says she's very proud of you two."

"Ma, you're being a real baby here..." Ryoji smirks. "C'mon, it's no use crying over it all day. You go any higher, and all the village dogs will start barking."

Yuki sniffles as she glares at her son, and you note Ryoji's hand tightening as it rest on your shoulder. Seems he's regretting his words. As tough as he is, you know that if there's one person who can strike fear into the heart of the master delinquent, it's his loving mother.

Ryoji nods his head towards the auditorium door. "Anyway, we should get inside. A lot of my friends' folks are dropping by today, and I can't pass up the chance to embarrass them in front of their parents. What kind of friend would I be otherwise?"

"Ryoji!" you and Yuki yell at the same time in a scolding tone, causing him to laugh slightly.

The four of you enter the auditorium, where more of your friends' parents have arrived.

"Oh, hold on," Ryoji throws up a finger before walking ahead. "I know she's here all the time, but I have to get at the kouhai while his mom's here. It's a kouhai/Vice Principal twofer, can't pass it up."

As Ryoji moves ahead, you make note of Ken's mother being introduced to Nanami's parents. You also notice Isamu with his parents and siblings, joined by... Rei? Well, she's playing it risky if she doesn't want to run into her own parents.

>Talk to Ken and Nanami

You make your way over to the families of Nanami and Ken, who are deep into their introductions.

"Yar har har!" Nanami exclaims, twirling her cape as she presents her parents. "This be the pair who sired the pirate captain, Nanami Fuji!"

Nanami's parents begins to clap for their daughter. You were always aware that they were very supportive of their daughters eccentricities and were plenty odd themselves, you weren't prepared for their sheer enthusiasm. "Oh, bravo dear!" Nanami's father exclaims with a smile, and his wife follows suit before turning to Ken's mother, who is currently rolling her eyes.

"Anyway, enough about our wonderful talented darling daughter... Sakurako, was it?"

Sakurako Tajiri, Ken's mother stands with her arms folded. Considering Ken's past with his father's imprisonment... you can't imagine life has been kind to Ms Tajiri. A single mother, a husband who committed murder, you're not surprised to see her somewhat stern and cold demeanour. "Yes. It's good to see you," she states with little enthusiasm, much to the annoyance of Ken.

"Everyone having a good time, here?" you ask, mediating the tension.

"Absolutely fine, Saki," Ken replies.

Sakurako pauses. "So this is Saki... which one is that again? The one who's with your best friend? The class leader, right?"

"Yes."

Sakurako nods. "She looks nice and responsible? Is she the one you had a crush on when you started?"

"Mom, no!" an embarrassed Ken replies.

His mother shakes her head. "That's right. I was thinking of... what's her name... Sayeka. Sorry, Saki."

"No... problem?" you reply, as you notice Nanami looking very uncomfortable. Bringing up Ken's past crushes in front of her... you can tell that Sakurako doesn't care for Nanami all that much.

"Uhh... let's all get some punch!" Ken exclaims, as he escorts the Fuji's towards the table. "You gonna join, mom?"

"In a second, honey..." Sakurako replies.

As Ken and the Fuji's move, you snap your head towards Sakurako. "That was really rude of you, that really hurt Nanami's feelings!"

"Excuse me?"

You cover your mouth with your hand in a sudden panic. "I-I'm so sorry! That was so disrespectful of me! You're a guest and... sorry, as head of the class, I feel very protective of my friends and-"

As you stammer, Ken's mother cuts you off. "It's fine." She lets out a yawn and scratches the back of her head. "Sorry, it was a long train journey, I wasn't planning on making his little girlfriend feel bad..."

Sakurako stares at Ken as he lightly boops Nanami on the nose and begins to play around with the pirate. "Well... I can't complain if my son's happy. I just can't see it though. No offence to the girl but..."

"But?"

"She's dressed as a pirate," Sakurako points out. "And she's very loud. Far too much for me to handle. I just have to wonder what Ken sees in someone... like that. Sorry, you don't know me very well. Crazy Ms Tajiri unloading her problems on some random kid."

"It's okay," you give a small smile. "I was raised to always be polite, courteous and attentive to guests."

"That sounds awful, I'm so sorry..." she replies in a tone of pity. "Well... you're a friend of my son's. What does he see in that girl?"

Sakurako looks to you then over to her son, before letting out a sigh. "It's no good... I can't really discuss such matters with my son. Besides, if I tried to debate matters with the boy, he'd only end up standing his ground and arguing with me. Heh, he's headstrong like that. I know because I raised him to be."

Sakurako continues to look at her son, a proud smile slowly forming on her face. "Ken... my god, to think my son would turn out to be some kind of superhero... I can't believe it. After all that's happened, after his father... well, I'm proud. Proud of my boy."

Ken's mother continues to stare at her son and his girlfriend, before giving a smile and nod. She walks over to join them and begins to chat away with the Fujis.

You turn around, as your attention is grabbed by something small bumping into you. You spin around to see a young toddler, her arms waving as she slowly loses her balance, only to be caught by a dashing Rei.

"P-princess..." Kin sniffles.

"Kiddo, be careful," Rei says as she picks her up and the tiny Iori clings to the speedster. "I swear, I let you wander on your own for five seconds... you take after your brother a lot!"

"Ewwww!" Kin giggles as she hugs tight into Rei.

"Speaking of..." Rei mutters. "I'm reminded of something I've been meaning to ask... hey, Riki! Uhh, Mr. Ibushi, sir..."

Akemi's father turns his attention towards Rei and wipes his forehead. "Yes... Rei, isn't it?"

"Your daughter and Isamu lately have been acting like they were childhood friends," Rei points out. "But I definitely remember them meeting at the academy!"

"That's right!" you add. "They have been telling stories of growing up together and sleepovers at your house and shenanigans in kindergarten!"

"Confirm their lies!" Rei demands. "They never met until they joined this school, right?"

Riki places a finger to his chin as he thinks. "Yes... they definitely met at this academy."

Rei snaps her fingers in victory. "Yes! I knew it-"

"Then again..." Riki continues. "I don't really remember... but it's plausible that they knew eachother before. My memories not to great you see... and those two act like they've been best friends since they were babies. Hmm... yes, they must have known eachother much longer... I'm starting to get images of sleepovers in my mind..."

"They're only in your head now because I made you imagine!" Rei exclaims. "W-what?! They can't be!"

Riki gives a shrug. "I don't know what to tell you... but I really don't think Isamu or my Akemi would lie..."

As Rei stamps her foot in frustration, you can't help but let out a small laugh. There's something just so charming and wholesome about all of this... there's just something that warms your heart when the parents of the students are here... and to see Rei having fun. It all feels so comforting...

... That is, until the auditorium doors open, and a couple step through. And judging by the look on Rei's face, you know... those two are her parents.

Will have to call it for now, but the next update will be later today. Hopefully as early as an hour from now. Feel free to discuss the thread thus far until I return! Thanks for playing!

"This is the right place, isn't it?"

Rei's father, Subaru Arisato, has a noticeable slurred speech as he looks around the room with an unamused glare. Still perfectly intelligible... but slurred. He doesn't smell great either. His wife, Chinatsu, looks much better. In fact, she's quite beautiful, and has a strong resemblance to her daughter. Only... she looks very tired. Judging by what Rei told you of their working lives, you're not surprised.

"M-mom... d-dad..." Rei mutters, as she slowly sets Kin down on her feet. She looks to her parents, slowly fidgeting as her parents approach.

"Shit, we ain't late, are we?" Subaru asks again. "Look, you can stop looking at us like that if we are."

Rei pauses. "That's the first thing you say to me...? I haven't seen you in over a year, and... and that's the first thing you say?"

Chinatsu shakes her head. "Don't blame us for being late, honey... we can't control the train times..."

"Train times?" Rei mutters. "Not even a hello?"

Her father shrugs. "Oh, like you called us? We don't hear from our little girl at all for months, and then what happens? I see her on the news, because she fought some damn... googahs, or whatever you want to call them..."

"I'm sorry," Rei sighs. "It's just... complicated."

"Our little girl's too busy to call her mother," Chinatsu whines. "Well, at least you're getting on tv. We were both so happy for you, sweetie!"

"Uhh... thanks..."

Rei is looking very awkward, so your polite hosting instincts kick in once more. You step in and begin to speak. "Mr and Mrs Arisato, welcome to Dakugeto! I hope you enjoy your-"

"I know this one!" her father smiles as he looks at you, waving his fingers. "This is that... Kobashi one! The one that gets all the facetime on the news! Yer the leader right?"

"Uhh, yes-"

Subaru snaps his head back towards his daughter. "She a friend of yours?"

Rei pauses, nervous. "Umm... no, she's not."

Subaru smirks. "Damn right. How come she's the leader and not you? No way she's in charge and you aren't! My little girl isn't a follower, you could totally kick her ass!"

"Thanks..."

Oh boy, your involvement is only making things more awkward... how did that happen?

Isamu sees the commotion, as he hobbles along, his arm still in a cast and still using a crutch as support after his battle with The Pride a few days ago. Good, he'll be able to alleviate tensions... wait, it's Isamu. That's not what'll happen...

"A-HA!" Isamu cries out as he flicks back his cape, hurting his shoulder in the process. "Ouch! I... I mean- BEHOLD! THE PARENTS OF THE DEADLY PRINCESS KNIGHT MISS ARISATO! THEIR UNIONS SIRED THE MOST POWERFUL WARRIOR AND MOST STUNNING DAMSEL THAT I, ISAMU IORI, HAVE EVER LAID EYES UPO-"

"Who's this fucking fruit?"

Isamu pauses in his tracks as Rei's father speaks. He briefly freezes up entirely, as all the colour fades from his body. He looks like he malfunctioned.

"Do you know this boy?" Rei's mother asks.

"Yes..." Rei mutters. "Actually, I don't just know him. Well, he's... my boyfriend."

Subaru stares at Isamu, then back to his daughter. "Okay, but seriously... who is he?"

"My boyfriend."

"Good one," her father chuckles. "Don't pull yer old man's leg. You wouldn't be with this... thing."

"Honey!" Chinatsu scolds her husband. "Don't be so rude!"

"Thanks, mom-"

"Obviously..." Chinatsu continues. "This place has changed her standards a little. Can't blame her for that."

Oh boy... you look at Rei, as she hides her face with her baseball cap once more... before dashing off altogether, leaving the room in a blur.

"Where'd she go?" Subaru asks, looking around. "The hell? Was it something we said?"

Isamu shakes off from his stunned pause as he notices Rei leaving. "Miss Arisato?" he mutters, before following her out the door to find her.

>Stay behind. You're sure Isamu has this under control.

As Isamu steps out the door, you awkwardly turn towards the Arisatos. "Umm... please, help yourself to some punch..."

You slowly stagger away, before jumping in fear as you feel a hand on your shoulder. "Gah!"

"Calm down, Sak..." Ryoji mutters, as he directs you to a new group. "There's just a parent who wants to talk to you here."

"Huh?" you raise an eyebrow, as you're lead towards a group of Ryoji, his parents, Rini, Kosuke, and a short haired blonde woman.

"Sucks that dad couldn't make it," Rini says to the woman you now recognise as her mother.

"Well, someone's gotta stay home and work!" her mother replies. "I'm pissed your hubbies' folks were too busy to show up!"

"You've met my parents before," Kosuke points out, before Rini's mother places him into a headlock.

Kosuke struggles as Rini's mother gives the poor boy a nookie in her grasps. "That's enough out of you, rich boy! I've known you since you used to piss the bed, and you ran off and married my daughter behind my back! You're gonna have to support your new mother in law into old age with all that cash!"

Rini's mother turns to Ryoji and nods. "Yo, Ryoji! You grabbed your girl, huh?"

"Yup," Ryoji nods, as he and the woman share a fistbump.

"What?!" you raise an eyebrow. "You've only known her for a few minutes! At most! How did-"

"Don't question it," Ryoji explains. "It's a delinquent connection, Sak."

Yuki lets out a small laugh. "Ah, that takes me back to my old gang..."

"Your... what?" you ask.

"Oh, Ryoji!" she exclaims, ignoring your question. Gang? What? Was... was Yuki a delinquent growing up? No... no, she couldn't be. She's the sweetest woman on the planet... but, then again... "You never told me that you were best man at your friends wedding!"

"And this lady was maid of honour, I hear!" Rini's mother exclaims, pointing at you. "So Rini, finally I meet your best friend!"

"S-shut up, mom!" Rini scowls. "That goody two shoes square isn't my..."

"What are you talking about?" her mother asks. "She was your maid of honour? You've called her your best friend when talking about her! Saki, why's my daughter acting weird?"

"H-hey!" Rini protests. "Don't make me feel bad..."

"They're just jealous," Ryoji smirks, before planting a quick kiss on your forehead. This causes you to blush, and it causes Rini to squirm in place.

"I'm not!" Rini yells. "Look, of course she's my best friend! I'm just teasing her, that's all... why did you have to make me say it..."

As Ryoji continues to smirk, you and Rini share a small smile... until Rini gets slapped upside the head by her mother.

"Don't treat your friends like trash!" she exclaims. "Especially your maid of honour! If she's your friend, treat her like it! I raised you right, girl!"

"Okay, okay!" Rini replies. "Geez, mom..."

"Apologise to your friend!"

"F-fine... I'm sorry, Sak."

"Now apologise to me for running off to get married without telling me!"

"Hey!" Rini protests with a wagging finger. "I already said sorry for that tons of times!"

"Still not enough!"

As Rini and her mother continue to bicker, your eyes dart to the corner of the room after hearing loud, hard sobbing.

The source is exactly as you expect. Sayeka... her mother and father clinging to their blinded daughter, distraught. They shed a fountain of tears as they hold Sayeka close, and the often distant and reserved Sayeka... is a crying mess alongside them. You feel a heavy weight in your heart as you look on. Sayeka, for all her grace and reserved demeanour... she's still just a teenage girl who suffered tragedy, and misses her family. You're at least happy to see that she had the strength to face her parents like this.

After a long crying session, Sayeka's parents are lead away by Chihiro and her professional looking father. Apparently they've set up a larger party out in the courtyard, and they want to comfort the parents of Sayeka and raise their spirits. Sayeka, meanwhile, is given a break to reflect as she pets her hedgehog. You slowly approach her, and speak out. "Sayeka..."

"Oh, Saki..." Sayeka sniffles. "I'm sorry that you have to see me in such a state... I suppose that hurt your image of me... Is there something you need?"

>It's nothing, Sayeka...

>Hug Sayeka.

You walk up to the tearful Sayeka and wrap your arms around her. She seems to be taken off guard at first, but quickly returns the hug as she sniffles. "Saki... There is so much I regret... thank you for finding it in your heart to forgive me..."

You hug tighter.

The two of you remain in position for a few moments, before you're interrupted by a squeak from Murble the hedgehog. Sayeka lets out a small giggle. "I think someone's hungry... I should feed Murble, then return to my parents."

"Good luck," you smile. "I'll always be here if you want to talk. Any time, Sayeka."

"Thank you, Saki."

As Sayeka moves on, you see another figure enter the room as she leaves. Isamu... but he's no longer wearing his cape as he hobbles up to the Arisatos.

"Oh, it's him again..." Subaru mutters.

Isamu shakes his head... before giving a humble bow before the two of them. "Sorry, we kinda got off on the wrong foot... hey, I'm Isamu Iori. I'm dating your daughter..."

"What was with that crap you were pulling, earlier?" Subaru asks.

Isamu lets out a chuckle and scratches the back of his head. "That's actually pretty funny... I usually act like a big, bombastic hero all of the time. I know it sounds weird, but... it's me. I'm weird. But right now... I wanna talk to you guys like a normal guy. Trust me, you'll get used to all my quirks soon enough!"

"I'll be the judge of that, son."

"See? You're already calling me son!" Isamu jokes. "Look... your daughter... Rei... she's very important to me. More important than anything else. And we've been through a whole bunch of weird, scary, and sometimes awesome stuff together. This place... it can be pretty harsh. Rei's taken a lot of damage this last year... and she couldn't face you guys after all of that."

"Is... is my sweetie okay?" Chinatsu asks. "She was so angry with us..."

"She's not angry!" Isamu explains, waving his arms. "She loves you both, but... she didn't know how to communicate all of that to you. She feels so distant to you, and didn't know how the open the door for you into her life... so this is me, making an effort to kick that door down."

"Must be tough," Rei's father points out.

"Oh! It's torture!" Isamu exclaims. "Pretending to be normal is exhausting! Do you know how much I want to break out into medieval poetry right now?"

Subaru shakes his head and lets out a snorting chuckle. "Hell... I thought she'd end up seeing a nice footballer or something... full of surprises, that girl. Come on, let's go talk to our daughter."

Isamu gives a proud smile as he turns to lead the parents towards Rei's location. "And Isamu?" Subaru asks. "You can wear your stupid little cape."

"Thank you-"

"But don't you dare talk to me while you wear it, boy."

"... Fair deal! You're a grand negotiator, good sir!"

"I hate you."

It's good to see when everything turns out well. Rei will likely still struggle to connect and communicate with her parents once more... but at least an effort is being made all around. Those two truly love and care about their daughter, even if they aren't the best at showing it.

... You kinda wish your own parents didn't listen to you. You almost wish they had come anyway, because they loved you and wanted to make things right with you, to attone for how they treated you...

On the other hand, you feel some relief to know that you're no longer a slave to them. If they don't care, then neither do you. You have a family now, anyway. A true family.

Saki Kobashi-Shida... you feel giddy thinking about it.

Anyway, the day has begun to wind down. You consider Dakugeto's parents day a cathartic success. And while it wasn't all smooth sailing, you're certain that the incident with Rei's parent will be the last of the drama at this point.

Just as you think that, you notice Kazuma walking up to Act-Sensei, who still has her clutches on her daughter, Mayu.

"Act-sensei?" Kazuma mutters, before taking a nervous gulp. "I... I have something I have to tell you."

Oh.

Oh no.

"Ah! So this is Kazuma!"

Yuki Shida walks up to the young Kazuma Asai, trailing directly behind her son Ryoji. Ryoji smirks as Yuki places a hand on the shoulder of the first year. "My Ryoji has told me so much about you!"

"He... has?" Kazuma raises an eyebrow, confused by the comment. "Ryoji... mentions me a lot!"

"Of course!" Yuki explains. "He's said how happy he is to have a proper little protege!"

"Proto-what?!"

Yuki beams. "He told me how well you get along. He told me about that time you told him that you see him as an older brother... it was so sweet! You're welcome to family dinner any time!"

Namika smiles warmly in her chair upon hearing the comments from Mrs. Shida. "Kazuma said that? That is so lovely, dear!"

"W-what?!" Kaz waves his arms in front of him, flustered. "I... I never-"

"No point keeping it a secret," Ryoji smirks as he confidently ruffles his underclassman's hair. "Don't be ashamed of how you feel, kouhai. Truth be told, you're like the little brother I never knew I wanted."

Kazuma turns red in the face and begins to mutter incoherently as Namika turns to Yuki. "So... you're Ryoji's mother."

"Yes, I am."

Namika nods. "I'm not just Kazuma's mother. I'm the Vice Principal of this school. Your son is quite the popular student as of late."

Yuki laughs. "That's my Ryoji! Always making waves wherever he goes! For once, he's made a name for himself in a more positive way! I couldn't be more proud of that boy!"

Ryoji shares a smile with his mother, as Kaz smirks, seeing his chance to counter Ryoji's teasing. "Wow Ryoji, you're quite the secret momma's boy, aren't you?"

"Yep," Ryoji answers nonchalantly. "I love my mother. Why wouldn't I? What, you don't love your mother?"

"What? O-of course I... I... shut up..." Kazuma mutters, resigning to his fate.

Yuki and Namika look to their children and smile. "It's funny," Yuki adds. "You never get used to them growing up. Ryoji is all grown-up, he's one of the most famous names in Japan right now, he's getting married... but every-time I look at him I still see my little baby. I still see him when he was only up to my knees, sharing his peanut butter sandwiches with the neighbour kid..."

"Tell me about it," Namika replies. "I remember bringing little Kazuma and Kiriko shopping for toys from Star Wars and that ninja cartoon like it was yesterday. Even when they're grown... they'll always be your children... oh well, at least there's one thing that will never change."

"What's that?"

"We'll always be able to embarrass our sons. Kazuma, honey, you have a ketchup stain on your cheeks!"

"You too, Ryoji sweetie!"

As they are mobbed by their respective mother armed with loving smiles and handkerchiefs, Kazuma and Ryoji share a disgruntled blush. Yuki and Namika continue to talk... and make many plans for family and holiday get-togethers, leaving Kazuma and Ryoji to worry... will they actually have to spend more time together?!

"Are your parents coming?"

As Namika looks to him, Roka shakes his head. "No... uhh... Ma'am. They aren't. They're too busy arranging... my cousin's memorial service."

Namika hangs her head low. "I'm sorry to hear about that, Abe... I'm sure this must be a difficult time for you. Well, nobody will complain if you check out of classes for a few days to focus on family."

Roka pauses. "My parents are still unsure if it's right that I attend. They understand the circumstances behind Seiya's death... and his parents know that I fought him in self-defence, and that I tried to protect him from fatal harm... but they think seeing me there will give them a sense of dread or somethin' like that. Can't blame 'em, I guess."

"That is tragic..." Namika sighs. "Well... I certainly don't want to interrogate my daughter's new boyfriend while he's not in the right state of mind. Kiriko, take care of this boy. Get him some punch. And Abe... I'll be sure to let you know all about Kiriko's middle school boyfriends in the fut-"

"Mom!" Kiriko exclaims, as she pulls Roka by his shirt towards the punch table. She looks to Roka and lets out a nervous giggle as he tilts his head.

"So... I'm not your first boyfriend?"

"Of course not, I dated around a little in middle school," Kiriko explains. "What? It's not like I'm your first girlfriend!"

"Oh... s-sure," Roka grunts.

Kiriko tilts her head and smirks. "Wait... I am?! Oh, that's just adorable! Big tough ape couldn't catch a date!"

"Hey, I could get a date dammit!" Roka barks back. "Just not a girlfriend... not that I wanted one..."

As Roka blushes, Kiriko gives him a warm smile. "It... sucks that your parents aren't coming. I was almost looking forward to whatever interview they had lined up for me. From what I know about your uncle, I'm sure he's real protective of you."

"Yeah..." Roka mutters. "Well, I guess I need to put up with your mom getting up in my face."

Kiriko lets out a sigh. "Yep... you know, I really do love Namika. Nothing makes me happier that my mom is here and she's still raising me and looking after me when... when she never needed to. Still, at times like this... a part of me also wishes that my birth parents could also be here..."

Roka looks to Kiriko, before placing a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it, Fly. We'll visit them. Next time we're in the city, we'll check out your parents. Have a little catch-up."

Kiriko lets out a small laugh. "I tell you so much... I'm so embarrassed you know I fill in their headstones like that... Well, it'll be a good chance to introduce them to you."

"It's okay. You don't have to worry about me-"

"But I do worry about you," Kiriko explains. "You're not that bright, but you can understand my feelings, right? I... want to be there for you. I want to be by your side as we take all these scrapes together, we can lick our wounds side-by-side. Because... you know..."

"What?"

"Don't make me say it!" Kiriko groans. "I... I... care about you."

"I love you too."

Roka didn't think for a second before blurting out his reply... and the instant regret seeps in as Kiriko's face turns red as a tomato.

"L-l-l-l-love, h-h-huh?" The blustered Kiriko mumbles, realising the miscommunication. "W-well, that's... uhh.. oh! Mio's calling me! Uhh... see you soon!"

"Fly, wait!" Roka panics. "Sorry, that didn't come out right! I don't love you! I don't love you at all!"

"You dumb ape, t-that's worse!"

"IS IT?!"

Kiriko teleports away while still shaking from who blushing embarrassment, as Roka curses himself under his breath while smacking his hand to his forehead. As he lets out a sigh, Chuichi approaches him from behind, having witnessed the entire ordeal.

"Maaaaaaaan, way to soon to be dropping the 'L' bomb," Chuichi smiles. "Reeeeeeeeally missed the mark, you know? Like, you totally-"

"If another word comes out of your mouth," Roka warns. "I will remove your head from your shoulders and use it as a bowling ball. Then I'll kick the shit out of your torso just for fun."

Chuichi nods, understanding. Roka shakes his head as he thinks over his social faux pa. He was always pretty dumb, and even worse when it came to social situations. He's always bound to blurt out something he was instantly going to regret. But every time, every single time he made these brash comments... it was the truth. Just now was no different.

"What are you doing out here?"

As Mio steps outside the auditorium, she catches the view of Chuichi leaning against a wall in the hallway. She sets her bag aside, the thick satchel making a banging noise as it connects with the ground. "That sounds heavy. Do you line it with bricks?" Chuichi asks.

Mio lets out a chuckle as she turns to face her classmate once more. "No, it's filled with merch. I've been working on it for a while, and I figured the visiting parents would want to nab some souvenirs at a reduced price. I've got Dakugeto lunchboxes, bracelets, necklaces, and oh boy, the t-shirts! 'Kiss me, I go to Dakugeto', 'I heart Kazuma', 'I heart Ryoji'..."

"Is there any 'I heart Chuichi' still in stock?"

"Yes!" Mio exclaims. "I judged the market demand for such a t-shirt, and made exactly one print!"

Chuichi tilts his head. "One?! Who's the one person who... oh, right. Me."

"Anyway," Mio continues. "I'm surprised you're out here."

"Why?" Chuichi asks. "It's not like my parents are coming."

Mio shrugs. "I expected you to be hanging around and flirting with Kaiya or something."

"Hey!" Chuichi protests. "Don't you have a little higher opinion of me? I'm not some relentlessly bad charmer!"

"So you tried?"

"Yeah," Chuichi admits. "But even if her folks aren't around, her brother sure is today. He's been watching her like a hawk. And that guy scares me."

"But he's so handsome!" Mio points out.

"And intimidating," Chuichi explains. "I feel like whenever he's looking at me, he's thinking of all the ways he could stab me before I finish my sentence. Anyway, what are you doing out here?"

Mio shakes her head. "Well... it's not like my parents are coming here, either."

Chuichi pauses. "Oh... sorry about that, pal."

"It's okay," Mio replies. "You know what it's like. Heck, we could start an orphan club, and half our class would be in it!"

"Yeah... but you're much more recent," Chuichi replies. "Not that the sting of losing them ever goes away, but... times like this must be real rough on you right now."

Mio shakes her head. "I've... been trying not to focus on it. Just focusing on having fun, meeting people, and selling cute t-shirts! Plus, I'm grateful that my stepmother didn't feel the need to come... and even more relieved that I don't think I have to call her my stepmom anymore."

"Hey..." Chuichi mutters. "Why are you still here?"

"Huh?"

Chuichi smacks his head and waves his hands before him. "I-I don't mean that in a rude way! You know, you've inherited some business, you're cleaning up its act, you're making money. Why would you come back here instead of just living a happy life doing that?"

Mio shrugs her shoulders. "It's not that complex... I've got friends here, and I want to help. I can be pretty self-centred... okay, more than a little, but that doesn't mean I don't care about people. Besides, who will I sell my wares to if everyone is killed by demons?" Mio jokes with a cheerful laugh. "I dunno, why do you come here?"

"You'd be surprised to learn this, but seeing my parents die to demons as a little stupid kid had a pretty big effect on me," Chuichi points out. "After seeing the danger there first hand, how could I not join the school? I want to make sure no little kid ever has to go through what I did... and I can get a little bit of revenge while looking cool in the process!"

"It must be tough..." Mio sighs. "Hiding the pain of something like that. Putting on an always joking facade..."

Chuichi shakes his head. "What are you talking about? I don't-"

"You've met me, right?" Mio asks. "Because I know more than enough about putting on a different face around people. You and I share a similar pain, and dealing with being cordial and cheerful after the fact... it's a nightmare. I know everyone pokes fun at you and your antics, but... being able to put on a happy, joking smile face with ease like you do? I'll always be impressed by that. The fact that you still put a smile on people's faces... it's pretty brave of you."

Chuichi smiles. "Thanks, Mio... wait a minute! You poke fun at me too!"

"Well, yeah. We all do. It's funny. It's Class 1's favourite past-time!"

Chuichi and Mio share a laugh. Mio's laugh turns into an embarrassing snort, causing the two to laugh further.

"Hey, Mio? You want to go on a date sometime-"

"Definitely not," Mio replies.

"Damn, thought fourth time would be the charm," jokes Chuichi.

"But... you want a hug?"

"... Yeah."

"So, this is your school?"

The tall man in the sharp black suit steps out of his limousine, greeted by his white-haired daughter. "You haven't seen it before, Papa?" Chihiro asks.

Her father shakes his head. "First time in person. It's been all over the news, I'd be remiss not to see it there. And don't think I didn't notice you all over the media after that incident with the model..."

"Yes, I suppose the spotlight does suit me," Chihiro brags.

"I never would have thought..." her father mutters. "Sending you to the school closer to my mother would lead to you doing something like this..."

Chihiro nods. "I know what you're going to say. I know it's dangerous and life-threatening, but-"

"-I know how tough and capable my little girl is," her father interrupts. "If you want to dedicate your life to helping people like this... then I'm so proud of you. Beats selling fancy toilets and smartphones like me, any day of the week!"

Chihiro pauses, a small smile forming on her face. "Oh... thank you, father."

The two smile before making their way to the main building of the school. "You know," her father begins. "I've been having a few dinners with one of those models lately. Yaoyorozu?"

"Oh, she's a darling!" Chihiro smiles. "But you know who is even more of a darling? My new boyfriend!"

"Ah yes, you've told me so much about this Makoto... It's about time I asked him what his intentions are with my daughter."

"I doubt they're anything close to what you're expecting."

Mr. Toriyama laughs. "Oh, dear... I know as well as anyone that there's only one thing boys your age think of."

"In this one case..." Chihiro smirks. "You might be wrong."

As they move towards the main building, Chihiro and her father pass by a pair of kids. One a young boy of around middle-school age with blue hair. The other a young blonde girl who's image causes Toriyama to pause in thought.

"Something wrong?" Chihiro asks.

"No..." her father replies. "That girl back there, had a familiar face... but I can't place it. Oh! I just remembered, how is my mother doing? You told me about her health scare around Christmas. Is she still the stubborn hateful old bat I remember?"

"Pretty much," Chihiro replies. "Although the poor woman now can't walk on her own strength much anymore. She has a live-in carer now, and I've handled all of her groceries since she got out of hospital."

Toriyama nods. "How very noble of you, dear. I'd never do anything like that in a million years."

Chihiro lets out a small chuckle as she leads him inside, where a brown haired boy with feathery earrings greets them. "Chihiro, is this your father?" the affable young man asks. "It's a true honour to meet you, sir. My name is Makoto Shibata, I'm a friend of your daughter, and I've been... courting her lately. I'm her... boyfriend if you will."

Makoto is clearly nervous, but he shakes the hand of Mr. Toriyama regardless. Chihiro's father replies with a smile. "Now this is a pleasant surprise."

"Huh?" Makoto ponders.

"Well, I expected my daughter to go after some tall, buff, obnoxious sports star... like that guy over there!" he exclaims, pointing at Akio.

"Of course not!" Chihiro exclaims. "Well... that was a casual fling about a year ago, but I'm all about my precious Makoto!"

"And it's not like I'm not sporting," Makoto points out. "I am the top fighter in my class."

"Is that so?" Toriyama raises an eyebrow. "Well, I'll take your word for it. I don't know how things work around here. I'm just excited to get to know my daughter's boyfriend. But first, there's something I've been wondering."

"Okay..." Chihiro smirks as her father knowing taps the bridge of his nose. "Don't go after any of our teachers, they're all taken. Well, except Hirashi, the english teacher and gym assistant. She's the one running around in shorts and bouncing a lot. You might like her. There's also quite a few single mothers present."

"Thank you dear," Toriyama replies as Makoto simply stands with his mouth agape.

"Y-y-you don't actually plan on doing... that?! On parents' day of all days!"

"What do you think parents' day is for?" Mr. Toriyama jokes. "Okay, I'll see you kids in a short while."

As Chihiro pulls a confused Makoto away, hugging into his arm, Mr. Toriyama approaches the first mother he sees standing on their own. She seems to be the mother of that tall buff boy, as moments before Toriyama noticed her berating her son in tandem with what appeared to be the boy's blue-haired girlfriend. Poor kid, getting the lectures in stereo. "Hey there, that your son?"

The woman turns around, glaring at Toriyama. "Yeah, whad'ya want?"

"I'm the father of Chihiro, one of your sons classmates. And I was just thinking that it would be nice if we fellow parents could get to know-"

"Are you planning on flirting?" Akio's mother asks. "Scram before I break your arm!"

... Well, that wasn't a success. Odd, usually he's able to charm people quite easily with his mere presence. It seems the mother of Akio isn't a person with a lot of patience.

Mr. Toriyama enters the auditorium, where he goes towards the punch bowl to grab a drink. A long ride in the limousine has left him quite thirsty. There was only fine champagne stocked within the limo, and Mr. Toriyama thought it inappropriate to drink on the way to a school meeting.

As he drinks from the punch, another parent comes up towards him. "So, which one is yours?"

"Oh, she's just outside right now," he explains. "Chihiro, she's the one with the white hair, and-"

"Chihiro... Toriyama?" the other parents asks. "Yeah, she's my son's rich friend. You had the look of a billionaire around you. I think must of the machines in my house are made by your company."

"Well, that's very flattering," Toriyama smiles. "And which child is your son?"

"Over there," she points. "Ken."

"Oh," Toriyama ponders. "Is he speaking to some sort of... adult entertainer?"

"No," Sakurako Tajiri sighs. "That's his girlfriend. She just dresses like a pirate for fun."

"Huh, and here I was thinking I wasn't out of touch with the kids today."

The two parents share a laugh, as Toriyama outstretches his hand. "I'm Kakyoin. Kakyoin Toriyama."

"Sakurako Tajiri," Ken's mother smiles as she accepts the handshake. "Crazy... isn't it?"

"What is?"

"You know!" Sakurako throws up her hands. "The way the whole world has gone insane! Monsters are real, heroes are real... and the kicker as that those heroes are our damn kids! How do you even process that?"

"I'm still having trouble myself, I admit," Kakyoin replies. "I thought I had seen it all. I really did. World is full of surprises."

"Our kids are goddamn superheroes, and we're supposed to just sit in front of the news channels and watch by the sidelines as all this crap happens. It feels like a dream!" Sakurako lets out a disbelieving laugh. "Like I'm gonna wake up any minute! I mean... look at me! I'm a tired mother, my husband is serving life in jail, and somehow I was wrong to think that that would be the most dramatic thing to happen in my life!"

"I'm sorry to hear about your husband."

Sakurako folds her arms. "Well, ex-husband. Only thing from making that official is filing the paperwork, and there's no point. At my age, it's not like I'm on the prowl for someone new. I'm pushing fourty, my kid's entering his last year of high school... ah, but that's not important. You don't want to hear about any of that... but doesn't this make you feel proud of your kid?"

"Proud?"

"Yeah," Sakurako replies. "I mean... when all of this was dropped on us, I had a range of emotions. I was scared, angry, confused... so VERY confused... but above everything else, I was proud. Little Ken always dreamed of being a superhero. He'd always be obsessed with his Kamen Rider, and his Red Mask... and here we are, somehow, my son has made the impossible possible and became what he always dreamed of. That warms my heart, it really does. What about you?"

Kakyoin chuckles. "Chihiro has always been my pride and joy, even before this. But now... I'm more convinced than ever that she's my greatest contribution to the world."

"I don't know," Sakurako jokes. "Didn't you also invent that toilet that checks your blood pressure AND reads audiobooks?"

"Yes," Kakyoin smirks. "Even that pales in comparison to my daughter... hey, you want to sneak into the teacher's lounge and grab some coffee?"

Sakurako breathes a sigh of relief. "Yes, thank god! I need a real refreshment. Punch? They're feeding us like we're eight year olds. Some alcohol would be good too. I really need to unwind on a day like this."

"Huh," Mr. Toriyama replies. "I happen to have a limousine full of sparkling champagne."

"Good one."

"Not joking, it's right outside."

Sakurako grins. "You know, turns out this trip wasn't so bad after all. Lead the way."

As Sakurako and Kakyoin make their way out of the auditorium, a cold chill runs down the spine of Ken Tajiri.

"Something wrong?" Nanami asks.

"I don't think so..." Ken pauses. "But for some reason, I just got a weird feeling that Chihiro is going to be very smug about something later."

Ken has no idea how right he is.
