/qst/ - Quests

Welcome to Steven Universe Rebel Ruby Quest! In this quest you play a young (for the most part) Ruby who landed on Earth after fleeing Homeworld in hopes of becoming a Crystal Gem!

In the last thread we found a mysterious mirror in an ancient Crystal Gem temple. After realizing that there was a gem we attempted to make contact with it only to fail.
After going around Beach City with Steven however, the mirror begins to speak with the others revealing its true nature. Due to this, Steven and Ruby pull the trapped gem out of the mirror
revealing it to be a gem by the name of Lapis Lazuli. After a fight between her and the gems Ruby goes off with Lapis in the hopes of convincing her not to go back to Homeworld. Upon
realizing that she can't fly back to Homeworld herself Lapis proceeds to take the entire ocean and hoist it up into a large tower in the hope of making it high enough to get home. This plan
fails and then you proceed to tell her everything about how Homeworld has become making her question her choice. Soon Steven and the gems arrive, after a battle with them ends in Steven
managing to disable Lapis' water clones Lapis exdplains that she took what Ruby said to heart and has decided to stay on Earth. Steven then heals her gem and Ruby finally gains the approval
of Pearl. The entire team Lapis included then begin to head back home.

Your last adventure with Steven happened yesterday and not much has happened since then. Though you were part of the Crystal Gems before, its nice that all of them actually see you as an equal now.

Lapis has moved into the Beach House, which is beginning to cause an issue since with both you, her and now Steven's dad Greg who are all currently living with you due to Lapis breaking one of his legs.

S: So are you guys gonna uh... live here now?

You stop and consider that for a second. Though you've hung around in Steven's house for a while it was mainly because you don't actually have a room to call your own like the other gems do. Keeping that in mind it might be a good idea to move out of Steven's place, especially if you and Lapis are going to be living together.

"Yeah it would probably get pretty crowded if we lived in here huh?"

L: But where would we go?

G: I might be able to help ya with that!

S: huh really dad?

G: Sure! They could always hang out at the Car Wash, I don't use that old office anyway. If that's not enough then there's an old family barn that I don't use anymore that they could maybe use!

S: Oh wow! Well you guys? Which sounds good?

"Well the Car Wash sounds nice!"

G: Okay let me just uh, try and get myself over there.

With the assistance of you and Lapis Greg leads you both to the Car Wash.

G: Well Here it is!

The Car Wash is... unimpressive to say the least. It looks run down and it seems that it hasn't seen use in who knows how many years.

G: It ain't the best but the office on the inside is actually pretty roomy! What do you think?

"This is Perfect!"

Considering where you used to live with the other Rubies you were used to cramped spaces. Plus, there's nothing saying you can't fortify it yourself!

L: Yeah, this is good I guess.

You can tell Lapis is agreeing for your sake and you appreciate that.

G: Well by all means! Step inside and make yourself at home!

You step inside and despite the outside seeming run down, the inside is rather nice! A little dusty but that's probably because of misuse.

"I think I'm gonna like it here!"

L: You know what? Me too

>>Okay guys so let's talk about something for a second. The following episodes are relatively mundane and don't really serve the purpose of the overall story so I'm gonna ask

You and Lapis have been looking around the space inside of the office that Greg left you. While there's definitely enough space for the two of you, its definitely missing something, maybe you should bring it up with Lapis.

"So Lapis now that we have our own place to live, maybe we can try fixing it up a bit!"

L: What do you mean?

"Well we should try fixing this place up! Fortifying it!"

L: Uh sure okay, but how would we do that?

You quickly grab Lapis' hand and head to the Beach House, outside Steven and Greg are playing musical instruments of some kind. You two reach the warp and pad and Lapis turns to you

>>
You decide that you should go out and find some metal to better fortify the inside of your new abode.

You and Lapis begin warping across various different warp pad, trying to find some sort of place that could find you iron deposits, or even a junkyard of some sort that could house a lot of metal.

At first you can't find any so you and Lapis simply have fun seeing what all the different Earth locales have to offer. Eventually you both get to some sort of scrapyard on Earth.

"This looks like a great place to look for stuff!"

Lapis doesn't seem too enthused

L: Are you sure this is the only place we can find metal?

"Unless we want start digging holes in the ground they are"

L: Well alright

"Uh Lapis do you hear that?"

The rumbling gets louder and is now accompanied by a low growling sound.

You ready your gauntlet again and you race towards the monster and punch it again, setting your hand aflame! With that the monster gets sent back and poofs into a gem. You pick it up in your hand and hold it.

L: Well that was unexpected

You nod in agreement staring at the gem. This monster seemed similar to the other one that fought you and Steven back at the temple when you first joined the Crystal Gems. Maybe this is something you'll have to ask them about later. You and Lapis take the warp pad back home and step out before being quickly pushed to the side by Greg holding some sort of whistle in hand.

G: Scuse me you guys! I gotta apologize to my son!

L: "...what was that about?"

"No idea, not sure where Greg would find a sun, or why he would need to apologize to it"

You and Lapis head back to the Car Wash and set all the metal down on the floor nearby.

As Lapis holds the pieces, you reach out your hand and set it on fire. You then place your hand on the different pieces and melt them together very roughly. Some of the metal melts off when you try to do so but it stays relatively solid. As soon as you two are done you have 4 large pieces of sheet metal left, enough to make another room.

L: Well this seems like it should be alright.

"Yeah! Where do you think we should put this stuff?"

L: Well we could try making an extension to our base?

"Or maybe we could add the metal to the inside of the room! for extra fortification!"

L: That could work too, what do you wanna do?

We lack the means to create sturdy stone walls with good foundations, and scrap metal walls are only good for keeping pests out. Better to fortify what already exists.

We should build a helipad for Ruby's ship on the carwash.
>>
>>2759381
Better idea, just turn the whole carwash into a ship.
>>
>>2759381
Nah the ship ia busted friend We jumped out of it because otherwise we would have crash landed and shattered our gem. Intead we just jumped from a high altitude face first with our gem against the floor.
>>
>>2759387
A better, better idea. Make the carwash be a good avenue of money, by improving the work speed and the costumer service. People still use that right?
>>
>>2759395
Yeah. And then we hold out for that sweet, sweet royalty check and then bust out the champagne and nutter butters!
>>
You and Lapis decide to fortify the existing room in the car wash already. You both take the metal and melt it to the outer part of the Room. Even though you might not feel extreme heat, You leave space for the Air conditioning vents. Who knows if Steven would wanna come hang out right?

You and Lapis stand back and admire your handiwork content with how it looks

>Your base is now fortified! This means it's more protected from any potential attacks!

"Well I'd say that's a hard days work done!"

L: I think so too, oh hey! Do you still have that gem with you?

"Oh yeah!"

You quickly run inside and grab it from the table you had it on. You can't tell what type of gem it is but that's not important, what's important is making sure that it doesn't crack or worse by accident

"Maybe we should ask the gems what to do with it?"

L: Oh yeah that sounds like a great idea

"Oh cmon Lapis, give them a chance, I know you and them didn't really get along well on your first meeting but they're good gems!"

L: Okay fine but are you sure you don't wanna try for yourself? Like how you tried to impress them by talking to me?

Huh, she brings up a good point. I mean you did see the gems create bubbles to hold gems.

>>
You decide that you want to go and ask the gems what to do about the gem held in the bubble. You beckon Lapis and the two of you head over to the House laid by the temple. As you step inside you see Greg begin to walk out.

G: Well I'll see you guys around! Oh! Uh Ruby and Lapis right?

L: yeah, sorry about breaking your leg

G: eh Steven made it better, don't worry to much.

You quickly run past to the gems and show them the gem in your hands

"Guys, while me and Lapis were out finding scrap metal we stopped a gem monster!"

G: Good job Ruby

Garnet says with a smile

"Well thanks but what do I do with it?"

S: Put it in a bubble!

"A bubble?"

S: Yeah! remember when the gem put you in one when you got here?

Oh that's right

"Well how do I do that?"

P: Well, to bubble a gem you need to think of somewhere you call home and then the bubble will automatically form and send it there

You stop and think, did you really have a home? Well there was the wash, Greg gave it to you, it was where you and Lapis lived, and now you can feel happy. Knowing that all you need to do is head back to that wash to see Lapis and have somewhere to call your own is nice.

Just as you think that, a bubble forms over the gem

S: See! You did it!

With a smile you tap the bubble, sending it all the way back to the office room, where it stay floating.

Following up on the sneaking suit idea. Less detailed to fit the art style, probably ditching the rigging, and an opening for Ruby's belly button gem. Diamonds on the shoulders and maybe chest. Colors likely being grey and black, with highlights corresponding to our Diamond's color (Was that ever specified? If its Blue or White, Ruby's lack of self awareness regarding her skills could be chalked up to them being less involved in the command structure and thus less acknowledgement).

As for her earth outfit, next time she regenerates, or perhaps just next time the Crystal Gem's outfits come to mind, I imagine her going a bit overboard, both in terms of trying out human fashion and working in a star motif. Maybe a yellow sun dress with a star cut out for her ruby, like a much less formal Rose Quartz. Bonus: Sun Hat.

I like the mental image of the Ruby squads showing up on earth looking for Jasper only to find our Ruby casual and carefree, in contrast to their much mythologized image of her.
>>

I can dig the sneaking suit but not the sundress. I could see Ruby getting actual clothes and liking them though.

Yesterday you and Lapis managed to find some materials and fortified your new home. It took some time to convince Greg that what you did was helpful, but he seemed to just accept it and move on. Now the both of you are simply sitting in your new abode pondering about what to do today. Steven and Pearl went somewhere with Greg, something about building a ship. That left Garnet and Amethyst to hang out with, unless of course, you two want to do something together?

L: Well, I've never really wanted to do something other than what I was made to do. I'm kind of getting used to this free will stuff.

You simply nod and smile sadly. This was one of the things you hated most back on Homeworld, gem would do nothing but what they were intended to do for their entire existence.

L: Well maybe we can go for a flight?

"A flight?"

L: Yeah i haven't really had a chance to spread my wings for a while

"Why don't you just take me anywhere! I know the Earth as much as you do!"

L: Well, okay

The two of you step outside and Lapis opens up her wings.

L: There is somewhere I'd like to go. Hop on!

You jump on to Lapis' back and grab hold.

L: Okay you ready?

You nod in affirmation. Lapis then jumps into the air and begins to fly. You two soar across the sky the wind rushing through your hair. You look out into the horizon smiling wide at how beautiful it is. Lapis looks up at you and laughs lightly to herself. She then flips herself in the air spinning both of you around.

"This is amazing Lapis!"

L: Yeah, the Earth is so big! I never really stopped to appreciate before!

You two continue to fly in relative silence, simply enjoying the view and nothing else, surely, really, just the view and the ocean, nothing else at all.

L: Oh we're here!

You look to what Lapis is talking about and see some sort of set of warp pads. You both land and Lapis stops to look around.

"What is this place?"

L: This is the galaxy warp, its where the gems found all those years ago

"Oh"

L: Man do these trees ever end? Look all this stuff

"Don't worry Lapis! I'm sure we'll get there soon enough!"

The two of you walk towards the light until you eventually reach!... a brick wall

L: Well that was dissapointing

"Ah this is no big deal, let's just climb up the wall!"

With a burst of energy you begin to climb up the wall. You make it quite a few ways up before you see Lapis flying behind you with a slight smile on her face.

"Oh yeah, hehe"

You grab Lapis' hand and she flies you up until you reach the top of the wall. What you see astounds you. Bright lights as far as the eye can see. Huge buildings towering across the skyline.

L: Well Ruby I gotta say

Greg thinks Ruby and Lapis are good, while he's a little wary of Lapis, he saw that Ruby tried to help stop the fighting and that's okay in his book.

>>
>>2764421
I personally think it's very good, I think the Star point system is a little flawed but all the fusion attacks, combo attacks, music, and presentation make up for it. Overall its the best paper mario game we've gotten in years and it's not even on a Nintendo system

The fusion animatics from the show are self-explanatory--I just like the animatics more as examples from an animation perspective because you can see all the weight and sense of motion in the boards that was really lost after the animation got done in South Korea. Animator's notes are always interesting things to spot, too.

The other two animatics are some fan's gemsonas that I decided to put up because I thought they were quite slick
>>

I like the idea of her having no dance style, as unwittingly competent as she is, she's lacking in grace, so she just makes up for it with pure hearted enthusiasm. So mostly spirited thrashing around.

Alt: Georgian Folk Dancing. No specific reason, just that its cool and not well known enough.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lObbGydVSg4
>>
Also important to note is that it is entirely possible for fusions to happen without dancing, i.e. Garnet for the first time or Smoky Quartz

I think the gems just dance because it's more aesthetically pleasing than let's run into each other and fuse
>>
>>2767631

I just want to know if a lapis/ruby fusion would have angelic steam wings or plasma wings. I'm curious to see where you'll take it. I'm still all for pic related being the steven/ruby fusion, with steven's shield and ruby's gauntlet forming the armor the fusion wears.
>>
>>2767977
This really doesn't fit the style of the setting at all. Same as the MGR soundtrack. Please don't make this Star vs Quest 2.0.
>>
>>2768009
God forbit there is actually a good design or music, i agree its not very Steven Universe
>>
>>2768009
I didn't bring up the MGR soundtrack but I think it works if only because the armor itself would be the weapon. Plus, it's a game, we can deviate a little.
>>
>>2768024
*but I think the picture works as a fusion
>>
>>2767977
A steam theme would be cool. I would be okay if the fusion didn't retain Lapis' flight, would mix things up a bit.

Okay, throwing all the ideas together. Big Boss Ruby, Georgian Dance, etc. I'm picturing them as averaging out Ruby's squat and broad build over Lapis' taller, leaner, build, supplementing Ruby's fighting skills and power with reach and grace. Perhaps their fusion (Tanzanite?) lacks fire or water powers, which on paper seems to make her weaker than Lapis, (who is, granted, OP as fuck), but she can make canny use of steam to conceal her movements. She'd be a hand to hand fighter, like Garnet, but where as Garnet is a skilled but straightforward brawler, Tanzanite is a cunning and canny skirmisher.

Bonus: Our Ruby is smart, for a Ruby. Giving her the boost of Lapis' average-ish intelligence makes her superhumanly competent by Ruby standards.
>>
>>2768009
>stop having fun
>>
>>2768043
Fusion generally retain the abilities of the gems it's fused from right? I think flight would be kept no matter what, just altered. Still, I could see lapis and ruby's fire and water negating each other but creating a whole new powerset as a result. Maybe less smoke and daggers and more mid to long rang fighting. Things like scalding/freezing steam sprays, thunder force claps that knock enemies back like the hulk can do, smoke and illusions like you were thinking but complex stuff to it like steam clones, mini tornados/cylcones we can send at enemies, other cool stuff.
>>
>>2767923
thanks

>>2767977
They would probably have steam wings and that picture might be a little much for a fusion between those two. I'm still trying to keep thing relatively close to SU design wise

>>2768056
While I love MGR and the music from it, I think stuff from it might be a little too intense for something like this. I don't wanna like rain on anyone's parade or anything but I just don't think it fits

>>2768043
Removing Lapis' flight from the fusion would kind of be taking away one of the main parts of fusion, I mean Malachite could still fly after being fused. and if we go by fusion size fuckery, whatever the fusion of Lapis and Ruby may be(I have a gem in mind already) They'd probably be as tall as Opal

>>2768079
this is an interesting take on the power fusion
>>
>>2768079
Maybe instead of Ruby doing the Georgian dancing, her and lapis' fusion does? As she spins she lets loose cyclones and twisters.
>>
>>2768079
>>2768079

Garnet loses her fire and ice. She does have electricity. Likewise I see them losing Fire and Water, but gaining Steam.

I have the broad strokes of what I think is a cool thematic idea, which is that the fusion of Ruby and Lapis, power wise, is actually weaker than Lapis, because of the way their powers cancel out. But they're still a stronger gem together than individually because they also cancel out each others weaknesses, and let them express their greatest strengths as individuals. What makes the fusion strong is not the cool power they get, but the fact that they get to show who they are at their very best.

It needs a little massaging to get there, but from a story perspective, I like that angle.
>>
>>2768085
>MGR and the music from it
Again I never brought up MGR
>that picture might be a little much for a fusion between those two
Aw, I'm still all for armor being the gauntlet/shield fusion though

I could see their dance as Lapis doing a more traditional ballet while Ruby goes for a circus gymnastics type thing and we fused as Lapis catches us. The fusion doing the Georgian dancing would then be a nice mix of their styles.

I like the gymnastics for Ruby as while they are artistic they are also potentially useful for combat and area traversal, feeding into how competent our Ruby is.

It's a bit rough, but you're right on the money--Fusion takes the best aspects from the gems fusing and allows them to really show the best that they can be with whoever it is that's with them, also being the best they can really be. Self-actualization and all that goodness. Insecurities and fears are assuaged with courage and confidence.

But who knows when all this will happen in-quest--let's keep in mind we've only just managed to make it to not-NYC and we have a good amount of episodes to wend through before Jasper or even Peridot come into the picture. Plenty of time to build relationships and see things develop, so let's enjoy the ride and see what Deku's got cooking as it comes.
>>
>>2768131
I was thinking of something like this
https://youtu.be/QwKD-1ACDMs

But that's mainly because I see Ruby's fighting style involving her using her flames to flit about like the bastard love child of Azula from Avatar and Bakugo from BNH.
>>
>>2768134
Agreed. Lapis is still also a long way from recovering from her imprisonment. As supportive as Ruby is, its not something she can solve for Lapis. Even if they fuse soon, their at-their-best fusion is a long ways off.

Also, armor anon, I like the idea, re: Ruby Steven fusion. Not sure about full body armor, perhaps just one full arm, or one arm and a breast plate.
>>
>>2768131
Like for the fusion? Not really what I had in mind, the Ruby/Lapis fusion might be a bit more rambunctious than you think. If it's for Ruby then ehhh she's a little too fiery for something that classical

>>2768132
Considering that this is how most gems fuse to begin with I think this a great representation of the both of them.

>>2768134
This is an excellent write up on how fusion works so good job. Also something entirely new and all that, there was a whole song about it

>>2768147
This is also something to take into account, while I've been writing Lapis as being nice to Ruby it's just that. She would be nice to two people, Ruby and Steven. She still doesn't trust the gems and wouldn't be too keen on doing something they do. This ain't Reuinted if you get what I mean.

what if we are lapis but purple with thicker stronger body with elemental combo attacks and now a control over fire like lapis water control and if we combo with steven we become fatter and cuter and is super hugable and we give life to fire and water like stevens watermelons i am imagining looking smoky with a purple pink color and just two or four arms with a gem on the back and two gems in the middle going around each other like the yin yang or like those hearts you get on valentine cards but the two circles are steven and rubys gems its like a human carebear thats bejeweled
>>
>>2768602
imagine a purple pink smoky with a heart on the belly around the navel thats pink and those two "ears" on the heart is where the gem are with long fluffy hair flowing from the head with a round nearly spherical body with cute big checks on a round head with a big great smile
it would be like rose but rounder and cuter and in a different outfit
>>
>>2768606
>>2768602
The gem placements on a fusion are in the exact same place the gem usually is, they don't move so a ruby/steven fusion would have two belly button gems right next to each other. Plus personally I think a steven/ruby fusion would be around the height and build of garnet and stevonnie since ruby and Steven are really short.
>>
>>2768666
do you know how a love heart looks? its like two circles and a upside down triangle on the bottom

>>2768710

>>
>>2768717

>>2768719
The fusion is a new color though so wouldn't it just be a lighter red?

red+blue=purple

>>
>>2768760
i was talking lapis+ruby=?(purple) then ?+steven(pink)+(purple)
>>
>>2768764
But we were talking about pink hearts just a couple posts ago. But dropping the color thing for a second, why a heart? Where would it come from, why would they even have one? I know I'm coming off a bit nitpicky but I just don't see why the fusion would have a heart on its belly considering it's a lapis/steven/ruby fusion.
>>
>>2768773
the only shape i can think of the two belly gems fitting in also i wanted something cute we have purple and pink
>>
>>2768774
pink and purple mixing makes magenta a kind of purple pink or a pink purple
>>
>>2768780
Ruby's red would probably darken it back down to a deep purple though
>>
>>2768803
red and blue makes purple
>>
>>2768820
...I just said that dude
>>
the blue plus red makes purple and then mixing purple and pink makes magenta
>>
>>2768833
Pink and blue would make more of a violet or lavender, and the deep red from ruby would darken it further. Magenta is a bit too light when only the pink is light while ruby and lapis' red and blue are deep shades. I'd argue violet being the end product.
>>
So three things, I'm not 100% sure what's being argued about

2. There will be a thread today for sure

3. I was going through my pc files and found a bunch of concept art and music for a Steven Universe fighting game

>>
>>2768979
I'm not trying to be a dick, all I'm saying is that steven's bright pink isn't enough to lighten both dark blue and dark red to a light magenta. It'd be a rich purple most likely
>>
>>2768987
i was joking it was how they said in that episode that there are colors that only art students and bees can see in Mable land so no harsh feelings

To be fair anon, Opal's gems aren't a perfect midpoint between purple and white. Same with Smoke Quartz.

You and Lapis fly over this large sprawling City that in a way reminds of you of Homeworld, one of the main differences however, is the fact that none of the people down there seem to be subjugated in some way.

Lapis simply nods with a smile and you two get closer to the city. You can see dozens of people walking the streets, conversing, arguing, laughing. Many of them seem to be walking towards some sort of large tower located in what appears to be the center of the city.

"Let's fly by there!"

Lapis nods and you two head over to that location and you look down and become even more amazed.

"Well I'll do it if Lapis wants to!"

Lapis looks to the gems with a frown on her face, its clear that she doesn't really trust the gems right now. If you're honest you're not sure if she would ever be okay with them. Being trapped in a mirror for thousands of year probably didn't give her the best impression of them.

"Aw cmon Lapis, I think you guys just got off on the wrong foot."

L: I don't know...

"Hey it's training right? Think of it as an opportunity to fight them!"

Pearl gains a grimace on her face as you say that but the other simply smile.

L:...

Lapis looks off to the side seemingly contemplating it and then look back to you and smiles.

L: Alright, I guess i'll go

You jump into the air with a smile on your face.

"Well cmon then! Let's go!"

You, Lapis and the gems then walk away from the car wash and use the warp pad in the beach house to make your way to a sky arena.

"Wow... it's been a while since I've seen one of these."

P: now then!

You all suddenly look to Pearl curious.

P: Since this is Ruby and Lapis' first trainign exercise I'm going to allow her to pick someone to fight!

Pearl then summons a holo pearl and looks to you both.

P: Well Ruby we are going to allow you a choice as to who you will be fighting. You've proven your fighting prowess and we think you deserve it.

G: But remember we won't be going easy and we're experts at fighting other gems.

A: Yeah be ready gurl!

also The Brave Little Toaster - Worthless song is super depressing more then normal when you read into the lyrics and look in the comments
" I'm not taking credit for this comment, it was made by another on a different video for this song. But the cars... they symbolize... You know.

The blue coupe: the Overworked.
He had worked for so long that he just can't do it no more. He can't handle the stress.

The white and pink drop top: the Depressed
She can't get started, thus life speeds past them.

The red sports car: The Drifter.
He's been all over the country. Spent so much time going place to place that he never set his roots.

The race car: The Has-been.
Once he was famous. Now... he's been tossed aside.

The yellow limo and the hearse: The Uncommitted and the Traumatized?
The original comment talked about how the limo represented those unable to commit to relationships or love. However... I think that it may be possible, she's connected to the hearse as well. The hearse represented those who suffer trauma and are unable to cope. Well, I think that it's because he and the limo crashed, killing the Texan who the limo was taking to the wedding. Normally, it's a hearse's job to take people to graveyards. However, he did it in a way that a hearse is not supposed to, traumatizing him. Thus connecting the hearse with the limo.

The yellow woody (yes, that's what those old wood-sided station wagons were called): The Wasted Youth.
Self-explanatory. She went around in her youth, wasting it until she got too old. Though not as much as the red sports car, she wasted it by traveling.

The green pick-up truck: The elderly.
He was loved most of his life, but was abandoned when he got too old. Not to be a jerk, but I can only assume that he was replaced with a newer truck or just abandoned when the Hopi left for Santa Fe? Either way, I feel the most for him because he was still able to run. He as he could, he decided to save the magnet the trouble and drove onto the conveyor belt himself. That's how worthless he felt.

Note, these are just my takes on someone else's takes. Though I originally agreed with the Limo representing the uncommitted, the fact that her "and we turned" went straight to the hearse's "I took a man to a graveyard" and they were crushed together... that made me go with that theory. I'm surprised that I didn't realize it sooner." theories like these i am literally crying

We're actually pretty young by gem standards and gem life is implied to be pretty monotonous so odds are we're mostly just good at fighting and guard work. WE ARE THE GOD OF MAGIC ALIEN HOLOGRAM SILICATE ALIENS FIGHTING
>>
Thinking about it Garnet isn't technically that good of a fighter. She mainly does Superman punches and haymakers. It's thanks to Sapphire's future vision that let's her hit reliably, not any inherent skill. We can slip by her future vision as she's expecting is to fight like her Ruby and we are no ordinary Ruby.
>>
>>2770191
I dunno. She's got millennia of fighting experience on us most likely. Or maybe not, I don't actually know how old we are compared to the crystal gems. The way we revered them though it made it sound like pink's rebellion was a thing of legend and myth. I imagine if we lived through that time we'd have stronger opinions about it.
>>
>>2770195
Yea but that's against mindless monsters. Which go pop with a strong enough punch. We're way more dangerous than that.
>>
Well a 20 is a 20, here we go
>>
>>2770195

Seems like they were fighting against the diamonds back before humanity even began to form hunter-gatherer tribes.

It's quite possible that they are just rusty, or it could be that Ruby is trained in new techniques and/or has her extensive experience with subjugating planets and grinding their defenders into dust fresh in her mind.

They might just be expecting to fight a grunt ruby who can put up a good fight when in a pack, not a brutal elite who might have to get the mission done solo because all of her command was expected to get poofed before the mission was halfway over.
>>
>>2770191
>Thinking about it Garnet isn't technically that good of a fighter.
I wouldn't sing victory just yet. She's over 5,000 years old and she fought in the rebellion. We aren't a normal gem but she isn't either, even if we can throw her off by being unpredictable she's basically inmune to our fire powers.
>>
>>2770207
I wouldn't undersell Garnet one bit. But if Ruby does have one advantage is its that she may very well have been fighting intelligent enemies in the Diamond campaign of conquest for a long time, where as Garnet hasn't had to fight intelligent enemies for 5 millennia.
>>
>>2770202
>>2770213

I can see it now. Ruby's all smiles and laughs before the match starts, then she goes 100% full dead-on serious hunter-killer mode.
>>
>>2770219
Probably not immediately, but as Garnet continues to press her she probably ramps up in response. After all this is just meant to be a fun sparring match, its not Ruby's fault that she's got carried away.
>>
>>2770201
That really cocky anon, the corrupted gems are a lot tougher than you give them credit for, and Garnet is a 6,000+ year old super war vet fusion that defeated the legendary perfect jasper, also a 5k+ war vet, in a one on one fight. Compared to that we're a 1k old ruby that doesn't evrn know how to make more than one gauntlet since younger gems apparently aren't taught/programmed the full extant of their powers and skills, only what's needed to do their job.
>>
>>2770232
To be fair the strength of gem monsters vary wildly. Sadie beat one.
>>
>>2770238
Nah, Sadie's just stronk
>>
>>2770238
Fair enough, but they fought potentially hundreds over the centuries living on Earth, and Garnet is still unshattered and kicking. That alone says something of her capability.
>>
>>2770248
Oh, I'm with you, Garnet is exceptional. If Ruby wins its because Ruby is ridiculous, not because Garnet isn't that good.
>>
Garnet quickly rushes at you but immediately you do the same. You clash with your gauntlet on hers. you two match blows for a bit before you rear your hand back for another punch.

Garnet smirks and then goes for a clap. You notice this and jump inbetween her hands and keep them from clapping. Garnet notices this and her eyes perk up at the sight. you push her hand apart and punch her in the chest sending her backwards.

Garnet slides back and puts her arms up ready to fight back but before she can you set your feet on fire and rocket yourself towards her throwing your whole body into her sending her even further back before you land expertly raising your hands. The whole time you have this huge doofy smile on your face you're having so much fun.

Behind you, you hear Lapis cheering you on but aside from that you see Pearl and Amethyst looking on in what seems to be confusion/concern? You wonder what the problem is, are you not performing well enough ? Then you'll just have to up the ante!

Garnet rushes at you again

That's pretty cool. Also, its easy to ask 'why is this Ruby' so exceptional, and conjure up reasons why that might be, but I hope the answer is simple chance. Ruby is just a statistical outlier like Jasper, and equally by chance has an earnest enthusiastic personality that has led her to make the most of it, and now, to abandon homeworld of her own volition.
>>
>>2770348
Honestly I'm wondering. Sometime in the last thread someone mentioned that homeworld might come looking for us since we're so exceptional. Idk why they'd look for us on earth, but I wouldn't put a tracking device on our original ship out of the question. At some point we oughtta go and find where our ship crashed and make sure it's not communicating with homeworld.

Would it be cheating to not roll if decent rolls have already been made?

I just want to look cool in front of Lapis.
>>
>>2770360
While we totally should recover the ship at some point, I'm okay with Ruby not thinking about a tracking device. It might just be something outside her wheelhouse and so she wouldn't consider the possibility.

>>2770364
Dunno man. Would be hard to enforce. I've missed a few rolls because I'm doing other stuff to. That said, if the QM links rolls to choices, then there'd still be a reason to roll if there are good rolls but for a decision you don't want. Or if a decision gets a 1, and you want to up vote a decision that doesn't have a 1.
>>
>>2770364
No it isn't, but why wouldn't you want to roll and chance a 20 within the time frame?
>>
You attempt to block the oncoming Garnet before you put you hands to block and Garnet punches you so hard that you ram into a nearby pillar.

The entire sky arena goes silent. All the gems look on in awe.

P: Well I guess that means-

Before Pearl could finish you rocket out of the pillar and blast yourself into Garnet sending her backwards. Before she can even recover you jump and deliver a kick to her face with your foot still on fire causing them to crack but not break completely.

Garnet clumsily pushes you off and gets back look on her face suddenly surprised. This was no time to be surprised the fight was still happening! You rush forward towards her again and rear back your fist as she rears hers back to match it

REJOICE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2gL12zAYLE
>>
I'm loving this btw. Ruby ALWAYS tries her best. ALWAYS.

Random thought: Homeworld may not immediately realize what they lost. Since Rubies operate in squads, it might have been known that this Ruby's squad had exceptional results, they might not know that it was our specific Ruby that was at the heart of that.

For that matter, Ruby probably misses her squad, even if she stands by her decision to leave Homeworld. I wonder if she tried to convince them to leave or snuck away believing that they would not let her go if they knew.
>>
Okay so 20! Again! But let's see what the others are thinking
>>
>>2770410
>inb4 it's revealed that they tried to stop Ruby and she shattered them
>>
>>2770410
In my head, our Ruby didn't bond with others all too well. She was always ahead of them so that caused lots of envy and the ones that admired her got bubbled. And the time she didn't spend in missions she spent them with the aristocrats who didn't give a shit about her.
>>
>>2770427
And in her own fashion, Ruby never noticed this.
>>
>>2770448
Maybe that's why she dresses so differently from typical rubies. After a certain point they took her off missions as she was a commodity. Other gems would have her around like a pearl and she got tired of court politics.
>>
>>2770458
An alternate take: higher ups don't really know about Ruby or how valuable she is. What is known of her is word of mouth among the lower soldiery of Gems (Other Rubys, others that fall in this class). The Rubies may well report to an Agate, who seem to be morale officers and field commanders, and the Agates get the credit for the success of the missions. There may very well be an extremely desperate Agate out there who just lost the the source of her impeccable record and commendations.
>>
You are Pearl Rose Quartz' closest ally and ... confidant. You are here with a Lapis Lazuli and Amethyst another member of the Crystal Gems. You are currently overseeing a match between Garnet, one of your most powerful members go up against a Ruby who came from Homeworld in the hopes of becoming a gem.

This Ruby was currently fighting Garnet... and winning You had never seen a Ruby with her kind of skill before. With one exception, most Rubies you had met were just simple mooks whose only tactic was fusion.

Yet this Ruby was pushing herself and reacting before Garnet could do so herself.

A: Yo P, this Ruby is like super crazy! I've never seen one fight so well!

You simply nod in agreement, you know you said you trusted this Ruby but... having skills this good and wanting to leave Homeworld despite those skills? It just doesn't seem to make sense...

L: Yeah!!! Cmon Ruby!

You look back to the fight and what happens next almost appears to go in slow motion. Garnet throws out multiple rapid fire punches with both of her gauntlets...

and the Ruby

matches them all

with 1

Then she grabs Garnet by the wrist and flips her over slamming her into the ground.

"THAT'S ENOUGH!"

The Ruby looks over to you and smiles, she suddenly looks down and goes to help Garnet up who accepts with... a smile on her face?

The two have some sort of conversation that you can't hear as they approach the both of you.

The Lapis gets out of her seat and runs up to Ruby

L: Ruby that was incredible! You blocked all those moves and then she hit you into the pillar but you came back and fought her again and then you flipped her over and- wow!

The Ruby simply chuckles and rubs the back of her head

R: Oh I just tried my best that's all

A: Tried your best?! Gurl if that's trying your best I gotta step my game up!

G: Indeed-

You all look to Garnet

G: We came into this match wanting to teach Ruby to fight but it seems as though she's the one who taught us.

You look down on the Ruby who seems to be on the verge of tears due to how happy she is

R: I-i I taught you?? Really?? Me! I did! I can't believe it!

Ruby then starts jumping up and down laughing while chanting about her victory. You all look on happily

A: Pearl, I know I've said this before but I really like this Ruby

You simply sigh with a smile on your face

"I do to Amethyst, I do to."

Lots of inspiration as to Ruby, so scatter shot style. Just thoughts, we'll see how things go.

-Since Ruby likes to rocket around with her fire powers its only appropriate that one of her Fusions is called 'Jet'.

-Ruby's alternate outfit is probably a way to make her visually distinct for the benefit of her immediate superior. Holly Blue Agate was fairly dismissive of the Quartz Soldiers under her control, it wouldn't be unusual if Ruby's superior likewise has a face blindness when it comes to distinguishing Rubies, and had her wear something different so she could spot her without working too hard.

-If Ruby does have an immediate superior (who is now frantic about her missing elite Ruby) like I have suggested, it wouldn't be out of the question that said superior might have been awarded a Pearl as a result of her successful 'leadership'.

-Ruby might not need to be 'Flawless' like Jasper to be exceptional. The way she beat Garnet wasn't raw power and toughness, it was a creative use of her powers, fighting skill, and the ability to anticipate and counter Garnet's moves. What makes Ruby special might just be her mind. She's not a genius, though she is above average, what makes her special is her intuition, creativity, and determination (the last of which is very Ruby like). Add in the skills those things have let her aquire over the course of her career, and she's formidable, regardless of her actual physical compisition.

-This game is very light hearted but I wouldn't mind the introduction of a little more complexity, and the peak into Pearl's thoughts is a good start, but I want to touch on possibilities for everyone.

Pearl: She's trying to trust Ruby, but there are too many alarm bells going off. She's blocking them out for the sake of everyone else, and for Ruby's sake too, but seeing Garnet beaten has planted a seed of fear. If Ruby were a spy, or worse, an assassin, could anyone stop her?

Amethyst: Amethyst likes Ruby, and knows the least about Ruby's, but as the series progresses and she grows to understand what she was supposed to be (an Elite Gem Warrior), Ruby's prowess might stoke her inferiority complex.

Garnet: I think Garnet is dazzled by Ruby. Ruby is living up to the promise of Rose Quartz, by declaring her independance and being so much more than what a Ruby is 'supposed' to be. Its blinding her and that could cause problems.

Lapis: Lapis likes Ruby for her kindness, but like Pearl, she knows, from the outside, what Rubys are 'supposed' to be like, and this Ruby's differences are going to be stark to her. I don't know what she thinks about that. If it scares her, its not like it scares Pearl. For Lapis its what Ruby represents, about Gems and about Homeworld, and about her own place. Its the sort of fear that you get from a roller coaster. Its thrilling.

Steven: Thinks Ruby is great, the end!

Ditto. If nothing else, I'd like to keep going on our own side adventures while the other plot unfolds. There's so much Earth to see and we've only just gotten here! I don't think anyone would mind too much if we went off with Lapis to go exploring some more at some point. Maybe even spend some time with the gems while Steven is off with Sadie and Lars, y'know, doing stuff in the background while Steven does his thing. >>
>>2770578
Or just not spend it on anything until we have a ridiculous nest egg.

That way, when Greg gets rich, we can go on a spending spree with him!
>>
>>2770578
we could also give people random stuff we made like weird glass figurines and figurines made from a random brick we found then decide to encase inside glass we could buy a rubix cube and we thought it was "rubies" cube. or eating tie pods thinking it looks like human candy or eating vinegar and baking soda with amethyst and shapeshifting to become canons or a spray nozzle mouth or a arm water cannon and have a weird kind of water fight we could make a brick house from random stuff we found like clay from the ground into bricks and filling the gaps with glass we could try to make wind chimes or doing a internet for hobby stuff
>>
>>2770594

i have a IDEA eat scrap metal shards make the inside of our body into a mold then super heat up to melt then have lapis cool us down with water then shapeshifting away from the molded metal to make stuff
>>
>>2770585
I like the immediate benefit of blowing it on silly stuff. Like imagine Amethyst teaching Ruby and Lapis about the joys of food, and the three of them going on a spending spree as they try everything.

Aside: I think Ruby likes fighting (and she is clearly good at it), but she doesn't like hurting others. That might be one of the reasons she defected. She might have done some things she's not proud of out of duty and ALWAYS doing her best.

Besides, when he gets rich I'm sure he'll treat his employees well.
>>
>>2770546
"Secret Team" I could see Steven roping us into this.
"Island Adventure" We could do our own thing here. Either build the base more or hang with Greg
"Keep Beach City Weird" Doing our own thing here too. Maybe visit Connie?
"Fusion Cuisine" Potentially roped in here as well. Maybe when Steven and Connie run away they come to the wash and ask Lapis and us for help.
"Garnet's Universe" We could completely skip this.
"Watermelon Steven" Definitely involved in this one. We can try to defend the wash from the melon Stevens.

I think this Ruby is just what happens when you run with "zero tolerance policy" superiors. The diamonds response to losing Pink Diamond was making things even more of a police state than before the rebellion.

Rubys are still made the old way because making them as "second gen gems" would make the Gems " warrior runts" too weak.

And new rubies were made because being the grunts means rubies have the highest mortality rate. Either they end killed by "locals" or cracked after one too many failures.

If monsters like we saw in that abandoned control moon base of Yellow Diamond are a usual thing, and if Gems that fail one too many times are cracked...

Our little Ruby is basically a survivor.

She is smart because she had to be smart.

She is strong because she had to be strong.

The only ones who might have lower social standing that rubies are low class non fighting Gems.

Even a Pearl can probably boss around rubies if their master uses them as a secretary.

Someone like Jasper can act dismissive with a Pearl, a Ruby can't unless the master of the Pearl allows it.

Sometimes I wonder if Ruby has trouble relaxing or being idle because she has to think about all the things she’s had to do to survive in such a harsh environment. She’s pretty peppy and enthusiastic, but only because she had a goal to meet with full force head on (impressing the CGs).

A gem like Jasper might not have much trouble coming to grips with it since she’s pretty callous, but our Ruby seems to have lived too long as a second class citizen to be that way.

I think what I'm looking forward to the most is interacting with Jasper. It's going to be so interesting.

???: Why is this a problem?

S: Well it just so happens that the soldier who helped me gain all those successful missions decided to rebel and leave the station

???: What gem type was this soldier?

S: ...a Ruby

???: A ruby? I don't see how they could've managed to escape on their own. they aren't exactly sharpest cut gems

S: Exactly, except for this one! According to her they gave her to me since her previous work proved to be too easy, only for it to end being that she was able to do all the missions I assigned herself!

???: Such as?

S: She managed to go on various retrieval missions solo. We sent her out with a group of Quartzes to investigate a potential colonization locale only for her to come back with the Quartzes in bubbles. Speaking of, A quartz got rowdy the other day and she managed to take her down near single handedly!

???: Goodness, this Ruby surely seems like an outlier among her kind

S: She is! Which is why it's vital that she comes back her before the diamonds do! It's not a good look if the greatest member of your army decided to leave because they wanted to be some kind of Crystal Gem!

???:... did you say

???: Crystal Gem?

S: Y-yes?

???: Well than Sage, allow me to promise you this. As soon as I find my prism I take it upon myself to seek out this Ruby of yours. Despite her exceptional status it should be nothing when compared to the power of me and my prism

S: Truly?! Oh thank you Hessonite! I don't know how much I could thank you!

H: No thanks necessary, its simply what I do best

H: oh I seem to have left my recorder on..

Just shouting into the void. I love how Ruby is being fleshed out.
>>
>>2772908
More than anything, I'm curious to see how Lapis's sacrifice regarding Jasper goes with this alternate timeline we're creating.

Like... More than anything I want us to fuse with her first, so she knows what a not super unhealthy fusion feels like. If at all possible, I want to join her under the waves as part of the Lapis Jasper fusion to kinda help her keep jasper under control, and maybe save her from some of the agony she dealt with that whole time.
>>
>>2772954
If it happens at all.
>>
>>2772957
I guess it's possible we just wind up poofing her, or converting her to our cause instead of letting her get away.
>>
>>2772963
Or, less triumphantly: Ruby is the one who sacrifices herself, or any other permutations on that theme.
>>
>>2772957
>>2772963
>>2772966
Hypothetically Speaking a fusion between Ruby who would as of that time really love the Crystal gems and Jasper who hates them more then anything would more than likely be a huge flaming ball of unending rage, constantly battling with itself in order to make sure it goes nowhere near the people on of its halves wants to harm. This would cause it to shoot across the Earth finding somewhere were it repeats a nonending cycle of burning itself out and reignited fueled by a passion it can never fulfill.

Hypothetically speaking obviously
>>
>>2772977
The main problem with a Ruby Jasper fusion is that Jasper only fused with Lapis because she thought Lapis was still loyal to home world. She wasn't expecting to get shackled and stuff. She just thought she could play off the fact that she'd been imprisoned so long to pit Lapis against the gems.

Our Ruby is a known traitor (probably) and will likely be actively helping Steven and the others before Lapis emerges from the rubble in the last moments of the fight. I don't see how we'd even get to the point where we're fusing with an enemy.
>>
>>2772986
Lapis in this case wouldn't be in that situation either though, remember

The reason she was even in that cage and ended up in that position was because she tried to go back home, saw how fucked it was, and then got picked up by Jasper since she has been to earth

So who knows if Jasper will even try or would be able to fuse with Lapis
>>
>>2772990
Whatever the case, I can't wait!
>>
>>2772990
I definitely want to recruit Jasper. That being said the only way we can do that is when she is stuck on Earth. What will be interesting is how the fight goes, as we'll be familiar with what a gem destabilizer is, and having Lapis actively fighting with us.

I could see Steven still getting captured but being used as a hostage to get us to stand down (Jasper might nab us as well if that agate gets word of someone heading to Earth). The other gems would have to sneak aboard on a rescue mission.

I sort of hope we get split from Lapis and steal Garnets reuniting scene when one of us rescues the other, resulting in us fusing for the first time.
>>
>>2773388
There is no way we can recluit Jasper, she is too racist and hates the Crystal Gems too much.

We have way more chances with certain former slave Gem, one that Ruby Rose bubbled.

More so because Ruby completely understands. Ruby has seen other Gems get bubbled forever over minor mistakes and even saw a few rubys being shattered if they angered their superiors too much.

We have a lot to bond over with Bismuth and nothing to bond over with Jasper.

"You think I don't understand because I am just a stupid young Ruby, right? Well you think it was bad before? How do you think the Diamonds reacted when they lost Pink Diamond? Is even worse! Rubys get threated like trash! A whole second generation of Gems gets made by cheaper means, leading to weaker Gems and more defects, and more defects, who just get destroyed unless they manage to run away! I lost my first squad because Rubys are considered the weakest fighters and just use us in numbers! In fact the only reason Rubys aren't made like second gen gems is because of how weak we already are!

You guys are scared of me because I am too strong for a Ruby? Well clot dammit, why do you think I am so strong? It was this or death!
>>
>>2773623
I'm not totally sure. What if we beat jasper without Garnet's help somehow? We've already shown we're on par with Garnet, and Jasper's freakout came because she lost at the hands of a fusion. I wanna see what happens if she doesn't have that excuse to fall back on for her failure.
>>
>>2773623
That's way too angsty, frankly the idea of being a perfect gem like jasper is the least SoB breaking proposition put forth so far

>>2773630
She freaks the f**k out and has a mental break down as her view of the world is shattered.
>>
>>2773643
>>2773641
>>2773634
You okay there?
>>
>>2773630
>>2773643

Well she did leave to join the Crystal Gems for a reason.

With no clue how to get to Earth.

And no clue if any if the Crystal Gems still exist, remember all low ranking Gems know is that they were eventually destroyed.

Heck Jasper seems surprised the Crystal Gems still exist.

So, what would make a Ruby dich her whole squadron to head to parts unknown if it wasn't something like one of her superior shattering a Gem in front of her as a "lesson"?

And beating Jasper would need like three twenties at least.
>>
>>2773688
It was stated at the start that we were just sick of fighting in pointless wars with no end. We heard the stories about the crystal gems, and wanted a life where we weren't stuck under the thumbs of diamonds. I think independence is enough reason to seek our freedom, we don't need to justify our desire to be free.

First off we have no clue why Ruby left aside from the general treatment of Rubies because there hasn't been much of a consensus. Let's not make assumptions based on unknown info.

As far as recruiting Jasper, I agree it won't be easy, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. And to clarify by recruiting I don't mean to the crystal gems but to mother base (for lack of a better term). If we managed to fight her and hold our own we'll definitely get her respect which we can leverage to actually get her to talk with us without it necessarily turning into a brawl.

What I see as the key to getting Jasper in Ruby's corner permanently is learning that she's still messed up about pink diamond and then getting her to talk about it with Greg, who is also familiar with loss. Considering Greg got through to blue diamond enough for her to want him to not die, I think he could win over Jasper to Earth.
>>
People are talking about it so I'll bring it up, people are questioning if Ruby's motives for leaving go any further than she was angry at how Rubies were mistreated. The answer to that is yes... kind of

Since Ruby did so well in whatever squad she was in there was rarely any failures, as a result of this she never saw Rubies get punished too severely. However when she was upgraded to be sageites soldier, sagite berates her for being just a ruby. Since she's smarter than most Rubies, she knew that she didn't like being called worthless and wasn't blinded by her loyalty to the diamonds to feel it

Even before that, Ruby heard all the stories of the Crystal Gems and to be honest she was inspired despite herself. She head how they fought beyond all the odds really made her interested.

One day after Sageite was told she would get her commencement and a Pearl for a job well done, she basked in the glory and gave no mind to Ruby who had gotten her there in the first place. This made Ruby genuinely angry for the first time in her life and caused her to grab one of the ships from the bay and leave in an attempt to find the Earth and the Crystal Gems

I hope this is a decent explanation
>>
So random musing on Ruby's personality and her always "trying her best". This could have 2 negatives. One could be she doesn't know how to let go easily. Second, one of the reasons she can preform so much better than the average ruby is that she is literally pushing her body beyond its safe limits. Kinda like a human doing ridiculous stuff while on adrenaline. Which could mean... I don't know... her creating micro fractures in her gem or something?
>>
>>2774241
I don't think she pushes past what she can safely do, it's that she uses it more efficiently. She does a lot of small bursts to maneuver and get in an advantageous position.
>>
>>2773702

Independence and a chance to pursue self-improvement without the oppressive eye of the Diamonds dictating whether she could or couldn't improve. Like telling Goku that he wasn't allowed to train because you didn't want him to get stronger for whatever reason.

Jasper might be receptive to an argument that the Diamonds would order her to curtail her personal growth if it went against their orders.
>>
Just cause I like you guys, here's a peek into the future

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
S: Well no ones here right now...
S: Oh wait a second
Steven pulls out a music playing device and roots in the sand as a song begins to play
Connie simply smiles takes Steven hand and smiles
The two begin to dance with each other
"That looks fun"
L: Yeah
Lapis looks to Steven and Connie with a Serene smile on her face
"Hey Lapis"
L: Yeah Ruby?
"Do you want to dance?"
>>
>>2774841
Cute!
>>
....for some reason I got the image of Lapis and Sapphire having an non-serious argument about which of their Rubies is better.
>>
>>2774841
Oh good this is to cute. I ship these two so hard!
>>
>>2774841
Gonna get A Ruby/Steven Fusion! I'd like to think that our ruby was one of the best cuts ever created, Sort of like a Jasper to the average earth quartz's. Probably came out of her kindergarten with frictional rock melt and a perfect hole 'wink'. And it can go into so many story threads like garnets ruby being jealous, or Amethyst not liking her being perfect.
>>
>Last thread's about to fall off
I know a new thread won't pop up the second it's gone, but I'm still really excited!
>>
>>2775143
I think that was agreed upon already. I think the conflict Ruby will eventually have with the gems is that they have a lot of baggage that they tend to dump on people. It will be an interesting moment when she realizes the gems aren't the perfect heroes she thinks they are.
I can definitely see Amethyst getting jealous eventually, like she did with Steven, because the rookie is out performing her. Pearl is trying to look past her suspicions but she had never been good at letting things go. The main things from Garnet would either be Sapphire getting upset that she can't predict us and make her question her future vision OR she gets excited that we more or less change the future and her Ruby gets jealous. Either way there will probably be singing. Steven will always have our back like the cinnamon roll he is.
>>
Cute, still want Peridot to complete the off world team. We'd be team RGB and be the best of friends
steven ruby/us is going to be a super happy cheerful gem being all dancing and sunshine and hugs possibly too high energy
>>
>>2775955
Definitely too high energy. What kind of weapon do you think we'd have? I'm having a hard time trying to think of something a shield and gauntlet would combine into.
So random aside, the most expensive ruby ever sold was the Sunrise Ruby. Sunny as a possible nickname for our Ruby for when both Rubies are about?
>>
>>2776472
We already have a decent list for nicknames already but why not add one more to the pile!
>>
>>2776472
good idea i like the name
>>
>>2776472
I'm still up to calling us Pepper. Sunny Quartz would be a good name for a Steven/Ruby fusion tho.
>>
>>2776586
Agreed on both counts. I just really like pepper as our name.
>>
>>2776472
I personally like "Muffin" just for the "What" factor.
But our Ruby doesn't eat, if she did would she eat muffins?
Amethyst getting jelly is possible but only after she finds out that she was supposed to be an elite warrior gem.
Right now she doesn't even know she is smaller than she should be.
But Sunny is not a bad name, considering her personality and fire powers.
Jasper doesn't have issues, she has suscriptions.
Even if she agrees with us on the fact that our work should have been apreciated, she is still quite racist.
We are gonna get her on our side on the first fight, or the second or the third.
I think the reason we are unpredictable is because in a fight we think really fast, making decisions on the fly.
>>
>>2776472
>>2776586
Maybe amongst our Ruby squad we had a different nickname, given to us by them. Maybe 'Captain' or 'Sarge'. Not that Rubies actually hold such rank, but reflecting the esteem the other Rubies have for her. Otherwise 'Boss' for the MGS references.
>>
>>2776619
In regards to our unpredictability, we have to remember that Sapphire's future vision isn't perfect and is colored by her own assumptions. When she was freaking out about it she realized that the reason she had been wearing lately was that she was going through scenarios as if Steven hadn't matured. In a sense it's the same with us. She is making assumptions based on the rubies she's familiar with from about 5000 years ago, while we're a much more recently cut Ruby who is also head and shoulders above most other rubies in ability.
>>
I know it’s kinda a ways down the line but I can’t wait till that squad of Rubies arrives.
>>
Could always make it that, while ruby enjoys fighting and is quite good at, she hates to kill/destroy? Perhaps over her mission times shes been getting more and more upset / have nightmares when she finally decides to sleep?
>>
>>2776840
Gems don't need sleep though. It could work better by having that be the reason she's always doing something, so that she doesn't stop to think. She just keeps focusing on her tasks to prevent having to remember.
Still not a fan of the idea though.
>>
>>2776840
She could be in the process of deciding something like that. While she's bright for a Ruby and resented her superior's treatment of her based on her gem type alone, she might not have had a lot of time to reflect and wonder what she thinks about hurting others and the like. Her time on Earth might be the few occasions in which she's had any kind of leisure time.
>>
>>2777208
That works.
She probably hates the idea of shattering another Gem. And by know would probably get quite angry if Connie got hurt.
The whole "Steven is half human and half gem and "Garnet is a fusion of two different Gems" is gonna take her by surprise.
She likes Steven and Garnet but she is gonna need some time to process that info when it happens.
Now while is very vey far away in the future she is likely to find great uses for a Sapphire that can only see the past.
"They rejected you? Idiots! You are basically a valuable source of information about anything that has already happened!"
"Ruby, you are doing it again."
"Ah you mean seeing someone as a valuable resource instead of a person? Sorry I guess I am still in combat mode because we are not out of danger yet."
>>
>>2777426
I figure she hasn't had cause to shatter a gem, except perhaps in a field execution scenario. Anyone she would have fought as part of the Gem worlds of conquest would have been non-gems.
Random things that would be fun to see at some point:
Rebel Ruby and Garnet-Ruby fuse to become 2uby.
Rebel Ruby and Sapphire fuse to become P2 Garnet .
Rebel Ruby and Padparadscha fuse to become bizarro Garnet.
Rebel Ruby and Pearl fuse to become P2 Rhodonite
>>
>>2777426
true she is useful to confirm information and if she can see far enough in the past a living history book
>>
>>2777688
She would definitely help with reviewing tactics and training.
>>
>>2777426
Chewing on it for a little bit. Padparadscha working with Sapphire would be pretty nuts if Ps past vision is a perfect recall. She could feed unbiased info to Sapphire to predict more accurate futures with. Hell any potential crime she would be useful for. Padparadscha has a ton of uses that aren't super obvious but would be crazy useful.
How's you're week been Deku?
