The fog creeps across the maze before you, with the bubbling corruption beneath it threatening to swallow up anyone who falls into it. You couldn’t quite reach the other side via hookshot, at least not directly, but it’s fairly clear that the maze itself probably has a few nasty surprises waiting for you should you try to cross without a plan. Farore’s Wind may work, but you will need to time it carefully, lest you end up short of one of the ledges.

Or... maybe there’s another way through this room?

>A. Lynna, clear ahead with the Gale Boomerang, I shall head forward where the fog is clear
>B. Get as close as you can, then Hookshot over to the chest
>C. Farore’s Wind, let’s go!

“Lynna, can you clear ahead with the Gale Boomerang? I’ll move on ahead and hookshot over to the chest when I’m close enough.” you ask the young woman.

“That sounds like a plan.” She nods, and then takes aim ahead of you all. “Here goes... ha!” And with a strong swing, she flings the boomerang forward, clearing the path ahead for a moment. You see a clear shot, and figure that about halfway through the maze can get you to the chest. You jump on forward and carefully move through the path. It’s a bit of a diagonal shot before you can close enough, and about halfway through the fog starts to return, obscuring your next leap. Seems the throw of the Gale Boomerang wasn’t quite timed well enough for this little stunt.

Hmm... you can just about reach it, but you might lose your footing. You pull out your Hookshot, readying yourself... but right as you’re about to make your jump, you hear a shout from Horon. “TERMINA, LOOK OUT!”

You spot out of the corner of your eye a foggy hand rise up from behind you, making a grabbing motion. You’ve got no choice, you have to jump and hope you hit true. You take a leap... and you notice too late that if you land, you’ll lose your footing and fall anyway. Still, with your hookshot out, you can just barely make it if you time it perfectly.

“HEY, GET AWAY FROM HER YOU ASSHOLE!” Horon roars, leaping forward himself, to the protests of the girls around him. Sadly, as your plan just barely works, with you firing your hookshot and hitting the chest, narrowly missing the misty hand trying to grab you, Horon isn’t so lucky. He sticks his landing poorly, poorly enough that the foggy hand trying to grab you notices, and instead goes after him. His poor timing and reckless action cause him to slip right into its palm, the boy yelling out as the monster pulls him away.

“HORON!” Aveli screams out, having to be held back herself by Sheik to keep her from jumping in after him.

You reach the chest, but the monster’s taken hold of Horon, about to be pulled down into the bubbling abyss below...

You leave the item be for now and quickly rush to Horon’s aid, jumping back and stumbling in your rush to help him and falling on your side, but successfully taking aim at him and using your hookshot to grab on to the boy’s leg and pull him from the monster’s grasp. His body darts back towards you, Sheik tossing a couple needles at the monster to keep it from trying that again; though they seem to fail to do any damage, they at least draw away its attention.

With Horon back on solid ground, he looks at the creature with rage. “Termina, duck down!” he commands, magic flowing through his body. As flames build up around his palm, he makes a fist, and then slams it into the ground, roaring, “DIN’S FIRE!”

A sphere of flame surrounds the two of you, then blasts forth around you, burning away the foggy monster. Horon stands up, checking to make sure it’s gone. For the time being, it seems to be... though the entire room is a little singed and blackened. Seems the Great Deku Tree can survive something like that without too much damage, but should take this as a warning not to try such a thing often.

“Are you okay, Horon?” you ask the boy, the both of you getting back over to the chest via hookshot.

“Eh, it’ll take more than that to keep me down!” he declares confidently.

His fairy, however, flies out from his cap and bonks him on his ear. “You almost got yourself dropped in that murk because you acted before thinking! Stop trying to brush these things off!”

His head sinks a little as you open up the chest. You look back and interrupt Felicia’s rant, commenting, “Perhaps we all should try to be more careful. Overconfidence will only get us all hurt. And I will admit, that goes for myself too.”

He sighs and mumbles out a “Right” in response. In any case, you check the chest and find...

Separate and then gang up and curb-stomp them? That could work.

“Well, the method we’ve been using so far has worked well for us. Let us be on our way and make haste, the monsters on patrol should be closer to the stairs than the next door at this point.”

“There is a chance they could still spot us though. If we come out, we may have to face them waiting for us.” Sheik comments as you all reach the door.

You give that some thought, then come up with an idea. “Then perhaps the best way for us to deal with this is to separate one of them from the others, keep them from using their numbers against us, when we come out.” You take a peek outside, and you CAN make it to the next door without alerting them. You motion for everyone to follow you, then quietly move on to the other room.

This one seems to be a bit more straightforward. There’s some oozing corruption around an intricately detailed chest, and a large amount of it built up in the north-east corner, with a group of massive eyeballs staring you down. The room is fairly foggy, though, and you should be careful when trying to clear it out.

>A. Help Horon look for something to restore his magic

We can put off clearing the malice if the fog can be useful for the ambush, but if it isn't useful or too risky we should clear it a bit first.
>>
>>2763636
This is a good idea, we could lure it into a false sense of security by using this stuff the monsters have been using against us back at them. Supporting.

You get an idea, and explain it to your allies. You, Lynna, and Horon will wait in the room while Aveli and Sheik draw the attention of just one of the Moblins into the room, so you can set up an ambush for it. As the Gerudo and Sheikah girls open the door, you and Lynna wait closer to the oozing malice, careful not to get too close, while Horon waits opposite you both.

It takes a moment, but the girls quickly hurry back in, door left wide open, as the Mist Moblin charges silently after them. Aveli and Sheik are almost caught by it, but just narrowly they’re able to dodge it thanks to the Belt of Wind, Sheik closing the door behind it. “NOW!” you shout out. Lynna throws out the Gale Boomerang, the magic inside it trapping up the Moblin, letting you get in a quick strike with your Sword Beam, striking the monster critically, Horon following up with a slash of his own sword before backing away... though he’s close enough that the monster is able to take a swing at him with its spear. You fire off one more Sword Beam at it, bringing the monster down for good.

“Well, that was significantly more easy than the ones back outside. That boomerang is coming in handy.” Aveli comments, moving to Horon. “You okay? You’ve been taking a lot of punishment, it’s going to add up.”

“I’ll be fine, Aveli, don’t worry!” he declares proudly, rubbing the side of his shoulder the monster’s spear nicked.

Still, the little Iron Knuckle is right, that was fairly well done. You next work with Lynna at clearing up the corruption, striking it with your Sword Beam as she smacks the eyeballs with the Gale Boomerang. Finally the corruption slinks away, revealing the chest.

And it’s just what you need.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VRr9NG7RE0

Inside the chest is the third [Boss Key]!

“So just two left, right?” Lynna asks.

You nod. “With the door these go to a couple levels up.”

“There is still one more Mist Moblin outside, what should we do about that?” Sheik inquires.

You instruct the girls to repeat the same strategy with the other Mist Moblin, and you take position with Lynna at your side, Horon again opposite you, though with Felicia hovering around him, instructing him on not lunging in so recklessly. As the girls come running back, dodging away from the monster once more, Lynna again flings her Gale Boomerang at it.

However, this one seems to pick up on the fact that it was lured into a trap, and instead of stopping as it misses the girls, it keeps charging through, locking its sights on to you and charging forward. You push Lynna out of the way and quickly draw your sword, firing a Sword Beam at the monster. It hurts it, but the beast keeps charging, its misty body slamming right into you. The impact feels as bizarre as it is painful, as if instead of a mass of meat and bone crashing into you it is like you’re hit by a solid mass of damp“air.”

You try quickly to get back on your feet, Horon rushing to your aid and slashing at the monster. But as he does, it swings its spear around, knocking both you and Horon down again. But you’re not down for long, as the Gale Boomerang’s magic dazes the creature greatly, causing it to stumble. You and Horon fiercely slash at it, felling the creature for good.

Keeping up a pace like this is going to wear you down. You’ll need to be careful as you continue...

Horon takes a moment to catch his breath. He looks a little worn, and he has been taking quite a bit of damage so far. Aveli walks over to him, checking on the boy. “Injuries can pile up pretty quick if you aren’t careful.” she comments.

“I’ll be fine. J-just need a bit of rest.”

Lynna checks over him next. Her face grows grim and stern. “...If you start feeling like you’re about to pass out, come to me immediately. I’ll heal you as quickly as I can.”

“Er... okay?” the boy replies cautiously.

“We need to move on to the next floor.” Sheik comments.

You rub your chin for a moment, then look over to Sheik with a smile. “I have an idea. We will need to be a bit more direct with out approach, but splitting them up can still mean dealing with them more easily. Instead of trying to trap them in a room again, we can force them to fight, but on our terms.” You look to the young boy next. “And Horon, it will give you some time to recover your strength. Does that sound like an agreeable idea?”

He pouts just a little. “Hmm... okay, okay, fine. But I’m not gonna sit by if you ladies start getting hurt.” Felicia seems to glare at him suspiciously, though Lynna and Aveli give him an understanding nod.

“Let’s be on our way.” Sheik comments, heading out with you, the other girls following. The next floor has another pair of the Mist Moblins, on a similar patrol path, though they seem a bit more wary than the ones you just fought. Though... the path winding around the Great Deku Tree is rather narrow compared to the Moblins ahead. It’s perfect for your plan.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmiEZY9wldE

As the monsters start back up their patrol, Lynna flings forth her Gale Boomerang and smacks the one closest to you all in the back of the head, the magic inside pulling the monster back slightly. It turns around and notices you all, and begins charging back down at you. The one behind it doesn’t notice immediately, and so it’s much later to respond. With your blades drawn, you and Aveli slash dodge aside and slash at the creature. It seems to stumble slightly, Sheik carefully thrusting her sword at it and backing away as it tries to attack. With its back to you both, you and Aveli continue striking and slashing at it. Its spear swings around in retaliation, hitting you in the shoulder, but not doing any serious damage, and leaving it open for one more slash to put it down for good.

Indeed you do, though you did just take down a couple monsters.

As the monster charges, you make sure you’re between it and Lynna, quickly firing a Crossbow bolt at it. It strikes true and the monster’s misty, foggy body stumbles slightly, Aveli and Sheik both running at it at top speed and slashing at the beast. Even with that, though, it keeps pushing forward, the body slamming into you, with you barely getting enough time to defend yourself against it, barely getting a slash of your sword out at it as it hits you, the strike again feeling like you’re hit by a wall of moist, “solid” air.

You’re knocked back into Lynna, your body smacking against hers, but she manages to brace herself properly, awkwardly catching you as she flings the Gale Boomerang at the monster, the swirling winds around it throwing the beast back with enough force that its body seems to lose cohesiveness, fading away. The Boomerang returns to Lynna, though with how she tried to catch you, it returns and hits her on the side of the head. Not enough to do some real damage, but enough that an audible “OW!” echoes through the tree’s interior.

[Hearts: 6.5/10]

She lets go of you to rub the side of your head, with you picking up the Boomerang and handing it to her, the both of you sharing a quick chuckle. Horon finally returns, looking like he’s back to full strength. “I miss anything?” he asks before his eyes catch sight of the two of you, the boy raising one of his brows, but making no further comment.

“It is more of the usual, to be honest. Though certainly the challenge has risen quite a bit, this crawl is not going as smoothly as usual.” You look over the spoils the monsters left over. “I guess it is my turn to try and recover.”

“I’m going to try and get the next key.” Horon declares, heading into the next door.

“Horon, don’t go off on your own.” Sheik tells him strictly, getting ready to jump in after him and drag him back.

“T, you think you’ll be good here for a bit?” Aveli asks.

“We are in no danger at the moment, so I believe so.” you reply, gathering up a decent number of Rupees, 20 in total.

“I’ll watch Horon’s back then. Be back soon!” She cheerfully skips forward, moving as her her heavy, clanking armor were much lighter than it actually was.

Sheik crosses her arms disapprovingly and looks over to you. “She should know better.”

“Aveli is certainly capable of keeping herself safe, Sheik.” you comment to the Sheikah girl.

She looks down. “...That’s not what I mean.” she replies lowly, Lynna tilting her head curiously at her.

“As am I, even as difficult as this challenge has been. Do not worry, Sheik.”

Lynna places her arms behind her back, taking a few cautious steps closer to the Sheikah girl. “...Er, don’t take this the wrong way, but you do seem fairly protective of her, Sheik. Termina didn’t really talk about you much before, but you seem pretty close to her.”

“I have my reasons for helping her.” she answers quickly, trying to shut down any suspicions Lynna might have.

“I mean, I understand that, but, er...” A question is clearly on her mind, but Sheik’s cold eyes look away from her. “...Sorry. I won’t bring up any touchy subjects.”

You sigh softly. “Sheik, please.”

“My apoligies, Termina. I will watch my tongue.”

Well... this tension isn’t really helping. You decide to cut it just a bit by telling Lynna in a calming tone, “She can be shy sometimes, do not worry. I assure you, I trust her with my life.”

Even with most of her face covered, you can tell she’s blushing a little. “Termina...”

Lynna giggles softly at her reaction. There we go, no need to keep everyone distant from one another, even with your secret.

You get some of your strength back as you converse, your wounds healing up as you gather up the last few spoils. Your Crossbow is restocked, thankfully, and you’re back to full health.

[Hearts: 10/10]
[Rupees: 285]

With that done, the three of you rejoin Horon and Aveli, finding the two of them already taking care of a growth of corrupted vines guarding a chest, with Horon blasting the malice with his magic as Aveli slashes the vines themselves aside, clearing them away from an ornate chest in the center of the room. She quickly reaches in and grabs what’s inside, then uses the Belt of Wind to get out of the way as the vines and malice start to regrow.

“Whew, close one! Nice shooting, Horon!” The Gerudo girl comments proudly, heading back to you. “Here you are, Termina.”

You smile. One more [Boss Key] down. Just one to go.

Was a good time, thanks for running.

I think Termina should consider coming clean with her allies, they're already risking life and limb for each other, after all... perhaps when we're done here we should see who is really going to commit for the long haul, and to keeping secrets.
>>
>>2768127
Great times were had, Kato. Thanks for running.

It is nice to see Horon taking some initiative, and Aveli covering his back is smart of her. Do hope Sheik opens up a bit with everyone soon.

>>2768146
I agree. Maybe not immediately after, but soon, since we have everyone together. Take some time to visit Lynna's village after we're done, rest up, hey everyone to know each other better, then let them know everything.

Four keys down, one to go. Your group continues on to the next level. You see that one of the two doors is locked, and guarding it are two final Mist Moblins. It’s opposite the door closest to you, and between the both of them is the door with five keyholes.

“So guessing they’re posted there to guard the final key.” Horon presumes.

“You’ve still got a regular key, right, Termina?” Aveli questions you.

You nod. “Yes, and I do believe it will function for that door.”

“But there are two more rooms open to us aside from it, right? One on this floor and one above us?” Lynna asks.

“Yes. Though our path to the next floor is blocked by that patrol.” you affirm.

“Onward!” you declare, leading the charge against the monsters. You draw your sword and, as the monsters notice you approach, Lynna flinging the Gale Boomerang at them, catching the both and knocking them back. With the creatures struck by the swirling magic winds, you fire a Sword Beam at the closest one. The monster starts to charge, but you have an idea this time. Right as it’s about to smash into you, you hookshot away, going up to the next level and retaliating by firing another Sword Beam at it.

Not only does the plan succeed, but the monster even crashes into the wall as it misses you, leaving it open for Horon and Aveli to use their massive swords and take it down. Sheik follows up by tossing a dagger at the remaining monster. Its misty body starts charging at them... and you notice it starts to change shape, “unfolding” as it it were a a large fist opening up.

Aveli and Horon are right in its path. You have to think fast. Bringing up your hand, you quickly shout out “Din’s Fire!” and throw a fireball right at the monster, igniting it and blasting it back. Lynna again flings her Gale Boomerang at it right as your fireball makes contact, again knocking the monster back, but even with all the damage it’s taken it pushes on, trying to grab hold of the two younger adventurers.

Horon flings another fireball at it, Aveli picking him up and trying to get him away as it keeps charging. Agh, no, it’s almost there...! You look around, finding a pot next to you. It’s a gamble, but you reach inside. Aha! A bit of a magic potion! You’re back to full! “ZAS! TAKE IT DOWN!” you yell out, summoning the phantom knight. It blocks the monster’s attack and slashes his sword at it, felling it for good, and just in time, too.

“Whew. Close one there. Thanks, Termina, Zas!” Aveli shouts up at you, smiling wide.

“Is everyone okay down there?” you ask your allies.

“Yeah, believe so! Nice job Termina!” Horon shouts back at you, then looks over to the phantom and bows. “And thank you, Zas.”

“Merely doing my duty.” he responds.

You look over to the door behind you. Well... you ARE up here already. “...Zas, can you give Horon and Aveli the key? I think the coast is clear, and I would like to make sure we have this room settled before we head on.”

Sheik looks up at you. “...You’re not thinking of going off on your own, are you?”

“No no, of course not. Sheik, Lynna, can the two of you assist me?” you ask. “Zas, I entrust you with helping Horon and Aveli.”

“No problem, Termina!” the young woman replies, hookshoting up to you, Sheik following her by swiftly scaling the walls of the room and leaping up.

“We’ll get the key then, tell us if you find anything good.” Horon comments to you.

As the six of you part ways and you enter the room with Lynna and Sheik, you spot a split path. From the map, you know that there’s something up in the north-west, but heading in you see a switch of some sort to your right, covered in corrupted vines. You aren’t entirely sure what it goes to, but might be worth clearing out.

“Lynna, would you mind?” you ask, pointing to the switch. “I will retrieve the treasure.”

“Was just about to ask.” she giggles softly, readying her boomerang.

As you seek it out, Sheik follows you, noticing some rays of light shining through the branches that make up the room. “It would seem it is still day out, at least.”

“Indeed. Certainly feels like it has been a long time since we started this, but we are close to an end.” you affirm.

Sheik looks back at Lynna for a moment, then moves in closer to you. Quietly, she asks, “Princess, once the Great Deku Tree has been freed of this curse, it is likely that the man with masks will have some other nefarious plot involving another region of Hyrule.”

“True. It may be wise to ask him if there are any other places experiencing a similar situation. But...” You look back yourself, seeing Lynna finishing clearing up the corruped vines. “...before that, it may be a good idea to let the rest of our allies know the truth.”

Doubt fills her eyes. “...Are you certain?”

“They are risking their lives for this, unaware of what has been going on. All of them, even Horon, deserve the right to know some time soon.” You reach the chest, finding it too covered in vines, a pair of eyes locking on to you. You decide to draw both your blades, recalling Linkle’s training, and slash at them both. “If not immediately, then perhaps after taking a short break from all this. Take some time to rest and plan our next moves.”

“...If you believe that is wise.” she comments to you, her eyes glancing away.

You open the chest up... and to your surprise, you find one more Piece of Heart! ...If memory serves correctly, Horon has three of the four pieces needed. Might be best to give it over to him. Once you retrieve the Piece of Heart, however, you hear a rumbling below you, followed by faint voices. You can’t quite hear what they’re saying given all the wood in the way, but something tells you Lynna just helped Horon and Aveli with something below. Looks like coming up here was a good idea after all.

Zero Hearts renders someone unconscious due to trauma. They are at risk of death, and if they lack a Fairy or if no one attends to their wounds, there is a chance for them to die. If they take damage at zero Hearts, they will definitely die. Enemies may or may not target someone at zero Hearts depending on the situation.

You regroup with your allies and decide to search for any fairies in the area. An idea pops in your head after you spot Felicia floating around Horon again. You bring out your harp, then focus your magic on the Fairy spell, having Zas return to you as you cast it. You strum the cords of the harp, letting the sound carry the magic through the area.

To everyone’s surprise, the plan works. You call forth two fairies from the area, who both take a seat on your harp. You smile sweetly at them. “Thank you for coming to our aid.”

They giggle softly, Felicia looking over to Horon. He searches around on his person. “Let’s see... maybe... no... grah.”

“What are you doing?” Sheik questions dryly.

“Well, I know that spell too, so if I have some sort of instrument...”

“You don’t need an instrument to use it.” Felicia reminds him with a sigh.

“...Right! I knew that.” He grumbles, trying to focus himself. He raises up his hand and closes his eyes... and one more fairy comes to your aid.

“Is that all there are?” Aveli questions.

“Indeed, there are just the three of us left. We’ve been trying to keep away from the Malice that has been corrupting the Great Deku Tree while helping him however we could.” the last one replies. “But if all of you have made it this far...”

“Horon, wait just a moment. There is still one more room to go in.” you tell the boy.

He looks back and frowns. “Wait for what? Come on, we need to get a move on, Termina.”

“Wait, because whatever else is in there may help with what is ahead. It pays well to be prepared.” You present to him the Piece of Heart. “Especially when there are certain rewards waiting.”

Horon stops in his tracks, then sighs and comes back to you. “Fiiiiine.”

And with that, he has four Pieces of Heart. He’ll be able to deal with things more easily now. At least, you hope. You all move into the last room, with a chest at the very end... though blocking it are strange, swinging, corrupted vines in the hallway leading to it. Purposefully swinging. As you take a step closer, you notice that the vines are actually some form of Deku Babas, and below them the floor is completely covered. You ready the Sword of Nayru and fire off a blast of magic at the closest monster... and you miss, embarrassingly. You try again, and while you strike true, knocing it back slightly, it swings back around and spits out a slimy black chunk of its mass at you. You quickly guard your face, but even as it hits your arm, a searing, red-hot pain shoots through it. “GYAH!” you yell out, despreately trying to get it off you. You back away, Lynna flinging the Gale Boomerang at the monsters as Horon starts tossing fireballs and Sheik furiously throws her needles at the beasts.

You switch over to using Din’s Fire, burning through the monsters and helping your allies clear the path. You look over at your arm once it’s over. Thankfully, whatever the substance is made of hasn’t left permanent damage, but it still stings slightly. “Termina, are you okay? Please, let me see...” Lynna requests, grabbing your arm. She moves your poncho up, revealing your skin to be reddened beneath it. “How much does it hurt?”

“It would be best to face our foe at full strength. If you will allow me...” You search through the spoils the monsters left, and to your luck, you do indeed find what you need. A little something to recover from the damage you took, and bring your magic back to full. And an extra 15 Rupees for your trouble!

[Hearts: 10/10]
[Magic: 5/5]
[Rupees: 300]

Once you finish that, you look over to the young boy. “Horon, what is in the chest?”

The boy looks back at you, his face almost beaming. “Not a Piece of Heart, but not a bad consolation prize.” He presents to you... a Gold Rupee?! That’s worth a whole 300!

Well, might be best to divide up the loot later. With everything else clear, there’s only one thing left to do. You hand everyone a key as you all approach the door, all five of you placing the key in the locks on the door and turning simultaneously. The locks one by one fall to the ground, and in you go...

You and your allies enter into a dark room filled with fog, with a few beams of light piercing through it. There seems to be a raised platform in the middle. “Strange... wasn’t there supposed to be a massive hole about here?” Horon questions.

“That was what it looked like from the outside.” Aveli affirms as you walk closer.

Your eyes trail up to where you see the light peeking through... and then you realize that what is covering it up actually is. A massive mass of malicious, bubbling ooze, the rays of light shifting through as it writhes hideously in the large hole in the Great Deku Tree’s face. You take a step back defensively, everyone bringing up their guard, Lynna gulping loudly but doing her best to stand her ground with the rest of you. Out of the mass... something gigant starts to move. A bizarre form, like an oozing, eldritch mix of a spider and a crab, crawls down, its face... the titanic “hand” you saw before you entered, now revealed to be a horrid, squirming collection of six of tentacle-like structures where its “face” should be, a trail of mist flowing from its body.

Horon seems to speak for everyone when he exclaims, “WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!”

All right folks, that's it for tonight. We’ll continue tomorrow starting ~5:30 pm PST. I’ll be around for a bit for questions and such. Did y’all have fun?
>>
Hi new to the thread question how long has this been going?
>>
>>2772909
Absolutely. And glad to fight against something that needs so badly to die.
>>
>>2772909
I heard the sound before I even opened the link. Really though Jesus Christ, that a creepy looking shoggoth bug thing.

Also maybe we should let Horon hamg on to that Rupee, that way we aren't at any limits just yet and can get more Rupees later.

That might be a good idea.

The massive monster begins stomping its way towards you all, the horrid, gargling screeches coming from what you presume to be a mouth echoing through the room. Mist flows around its body as vile malice starts to drip from its form, the writhing tentacles that compose its face briefly forming way, way too many eyes across them.

It’s coming at you all.

While the monster is still charging, you quickly draw your blade and strike it with a Sword Beam. It connects, but doesn’t seem to do any significant damage to it. You yell to everyone to back up, then set a pair of Bombchus on the ground and let them trail over to the monster’s legs. The beast is so massive that the stomping claws on its legs, crunching across the Great Deku Tree’s interiot, actually serve as a small ramp for the Bombchus to travel up. And luckily for you, they manage to reach the joints of the monster, causing its charge to pause.

Even so, though, the monster is not backing down. You’re going to need some backup. “Zas, lend us your aid!” you call out, the phantom knight to hold it back. The spirit slashes at the monster with its sword, Aveli charging with him, the two of them again slowing the beast. Lynna stays by you and Horon, the boy tossing fireballs at the beast’s face as she strikes it with the Gale Boomerang.

As your allies attack the beast, it for a brief moment, it steps back... and then crouches. The monster then jumps up into the air, climbing up onto the raised platform above you all. After letting out a horrific screech, it... starts to fling out chunks of ooze at everyone. Most of your allies manage to dodge it, but some of it splashes on Lynna’s leg, causing her to stumble over, the young woman letting out a loud cry of pain.

>A. Pull Lynna to safety!
>B. Bombchus! As many as you can manage!
>C. Crossbow! Try to hit it when it forms eyes again!
>D. Nayru’s Love! Defend Lynna!
>E. Song of Healing!

Zas is kinda floaty, right? Have him go up there and try to fight the beast off his perch, hopefully while weakened by the song.

Also I'm assuming the Song isn't a spell as far as Zas' restrictions go.

You hurry to pull Lynna to safety, avoiding another volley of the monster’s projectiles. “Zas, head up there and hold it off!” you command. As the phantom clashes with the arachnid-like beast, you look at Lynna’s injury, brushing off the slime with your poncho. Her skin is red, but while it might give her a limp for the time being, the damage doesn’t seem permanent.

“I-I’ll be fine, Termina. I can still heal.” she tells you through a wince.

“You are still a target for the monster, be careful.” you tell her, turning back to see it starting to stomp towards you, Zas doing everything he can to try and hold it back, Aveli tossing Horon up to help him take shots at the beast. “...I have an idea. When I give you the signal, hit it with your Gale Boomerang.”

“O-okay.” Lynna tries to stand, bracing herself against the wall.

You first set another bombchu, which again manages to travel up the monster and hit one of the leg joints. Sheik climbs up and tries to assist Zas in holding it back, only for one of the tentacles on its face to grab hold of her leg and flinging her down. It then launches another volley at you all. You get hit in the shoulder helping cover Lynna’s attempt to move out of the way. You shrug it off, but the searing pain is still there. Still, this is the chance you need. You bring out your harp... “Now!”

https://youtu.be/uoxWpmDUUNc

The creature shrieks as you play the Song of Healing, eyes forming again in its tentacles. At your command, Lynna flings her Gale Boomerang at the monster... and the strike manages to hit the eyes on the leftmost tentacle that it seems to stun it, long enough for Zas to lop it off. Only five of them remain.

Circle around it to keep it from locking on to one target.

Hmm... Well, if the thing is too rooted to be flung off effectively, maybe that's the better approach.

More of a sure thing anyway, changing vote to this.

You keep strumming your harp, and then start moving, having Lynna come with you. “We need to keep moving! Do not let it target you specifically! Someone circle around behind it!” you shout out, Lynna doing her best to keep up.

“Horon, I’ve got an idea!” Aveli shouts out to the boy. “Termina, don’t stop playing that song!”

As you move one way, Zas trying to keep the monster occupied, Sheik heads back up onto the platform, her sword drawn and a fury in her eyes. Noticing her, you shout to the Sheikah girl, “Sheik, when Lynna hits its face, strike!”

The monster charges towards you, this time not flinging one of its volleys, but instead fiercely lashing out at you with its tentacles. You dodge most of them, but one manages a lucky shot in at your knee, knocking you down, but failing to stop you from playing. But with the monster so close, Lynna has a clear shot at its face. She flings the Gale Boomerang at the beast as hard as she can, knocing it back slightly.

And with the opening given, your allies all attack. Zas slashes one more tentacle off, though getting knocked aside by another as he does, Sheik leaping onto his shoulders and following suit. One of the tentacles grabs her, but this time she’s able to cut it off, falling on her back but managing to harm it further. And to top it all off, Horon lets out a mighty yell as he’s apparently flung into the air... and delivers a fierce downward strike to the monster’s face, lopping off another tentacle and rolling out of the way. Looks like Aveli took a page from your playbook.

You keep playing, the sound of your harp echoing through the chamber. You’re almost there, you need to keep it up! The monster, however, doesn’t seem like it’s going to go down without a fight. The mist flowing from its body flows faster, an even thicker fog covering the area. You and Lynna keep moving, trying to prevent it from catching up to you, as you hear Zas continue clashing with the beast.

Except even that is not enough. The monster ends up following you, shrieking horribly, stomping closer and closer. You turn back right as your allies all finally gather around it. You might only have one shot with this. “Lynna, one more! Everyone, together!” you shout out.

Sheik leaps over the beast, slashing at it as she can, trying to get close to its face again. Horon and Aveli both get in front of you, the two of them charging back at the monster. As they run forward, Lynna flings the Gale Boomerang, stunning the monster once more. Zas and Sheik both take down the final tentacle on its face. The beast roars, its body stumbling around blindly. Liquid oozes from its head, and in a final desperate attempt, it goes at you all one more time, flinging malice all over the place.

“Strike it down!” you yell, putting away your harp and drawing your swords. The thrashing monster sprays its corruptive ooze, splashing nearly all of your allies as you all make one last attempt to kill it while you’re able to. Horon strikes with the Sword of Din, one chunk of malice hitting his hand. Aveli slashes upwards with the Biggoron Sword, some of the liquid hitting her knee as it gets through some of the gaps in her armor. Sheik slices at it with the Sword of Farore, managing to flip out of the way as it attempts to take a swipe at her. Zas smashes his massive blade into the monster’s neck, only to get hit hard enough by the swipe that missed Sheik that he can no longer maintain his form, disappearing into the fog. You finish up this series of blows by finishing Zas’ work, getting under the monster and cleave at its head... and from all the damage it sustains, it’s finally enough to break open the face, revealing a giant, pulsing eye. “FOR HYRULE!” you roar, plunging the Sword of Nayru into the eye.

(cont.)
>>
>>2775378
The monster flings you off in its death throes, forcing you to smack into Lynna... but the deed is done. The beast is slain. Its form collapses, a powerful gust of wind pushing away the fog... and the blocked out opening in the Great Deku Tree’s face finally clears up, light filling the area.
