<You are Paula Torrez, officer for the Washington DC Police Department. Or so you were, until a reckless act of courage saw the end of your life. You now find yourself trapped, along with several others, in an unforgiving death game orchestrated by an enigmatic black sphere known only as Gantz. Its rules are simple: hunt and kill, from other worlds, or die in your attempts to do so. With the promise of a way out, and Gantz's technologically advanced arsenal as your driving force, can you live through the agony of this life after death? Or will your mind and body break like the hundreds of others that lived before you?>

"3!"

Two heavy groans of strain followed your command, as the young man next to you pulls on the arms of your jacket pry his leg out of that crack. The hissing of propane and other flammable gases continued to seep out as the two of you struggled to loosen his leg. Yet, just as the hissing became more high pitched, you felt the pavement's grip loosen and tugged one last time with the young man.

You both almost fell back as his leg was finally loosened, yet you recovered quickly enough to help the young man up. You almost pulled him forwards as the sound of that hissing started to rise to a fever pitch. Your legs aided your escape, and that young man was surprisingly able to keep up with your sprint. Yet it did not last long, as a deafening blast caught you right past the crossing sign.

A terrible pain wracked your head, as did a burning sensation on your chest as you tried to get up from the roadside. Or so you would have, had an even worse pain not made you cry out in agony as you tried to get up. You turned your head down to see that everything below your knees was no longer there.

All it took was a single act of courage to destroy your life and career. Paula Torrez, age 25, would no longer read on the plaque of the department head, but as a gravestone in a forgotten part of Brooklyn. An unfortunate accident that lead to an unfortunate conclusion, and all it took was the dutifully stupid mind of a single rookie policy officer.

So you chided yourself, in the moments before you would no doubt bleed out or die from the fire now surrounding parts of the road. Your lofty ideals of doing good and helping those more unfortunate would never be realized. At least not until that young man had not arrived to pick you, and attempted to carry you to safety.

<>

That same young man, a person you had now known as an ally and a companion, was suspended right above that stage. His face was bloodied, his legs were bent the wrong way, and his right arm was a bloodied mess of bone and sinew. Erick's state was almost too pitiful for your bear, or so you thought until the convulsions got much worse.

It happened almost too quickly for you to properly react. Erick's body jittered, and shook violently, like a race-car engine on max, before several expansion on his skin burst all at once. A bloodied mist and rain of blood coated the front row and stage as Erick's body...exploded. You could only help but look along with Allie and Kurtis, as the bloodied remains of Erick's body were subsequently tossed to the side by some invisible force like a piece of trash.

Your eyes moved to follow his remains, a few very visible lines of tears now lining your face, before they reverted back to the main stage. And the two remaining aliens now on it.

'I was...supposed to save you...you know...'

"ERICK!!!!!!!!!!"

A shout of pure rage resounds from your throat, as soon all portions of the scenery, the others, and even your own higher thoughts are pushed back. You only saw red, and the hazy almost maddening feeling of your pain replaced with pure fury. These aliens had killed Erick, even after he offered to speak with them.

There would be no more mercy here from you. Or anyone else. Both aliens were down on the ground. The pink one was sprawled on the stage, appearing to breathe heavily and her body seemingly stuttering with static like a bad tv frame. The blue one was getting up, and her hands waved around the auditorium in a circular motion.

As Kurtis and Allie began a barrage down the auditorium, it seemed that everything was beginning to unravel. Erick was dead, but you were going to make these alien pay with their lives.

after we finish pinkie we should go after Erick's gun, if we transport them with it she will get double points.

I just don't vote for it now because I don't want to give her a chance to recover and use that shild, best case scenario would be we just destroying her body and being able to transport her gem later.

I will say right now, if Chris tries to kill steal(which he will) I'll vote to shoot him

Allie and Kurtis don't stop their continued advance towards the aliens, firing as they spread to opposite portions of the stage. The blue alien's liquid barrier however just covered the shots, quickly reforming to normal like nothing had happened. This didn't stop you from charging straight ahead towards her ally however.

Your legs bulged with musculature as you took a flying leap above the barrier. Even if that pink alien bitch was still able to put up her shield, you were going to rip it apart when you got in close range. Yet as you arched above the barrier, a grasping force almost stopped you dead in your tracks in mid air. You tried to move, but to no avail as your body seemed to be suspended in the air.

You stared down at the blue alien, and noticed that her hand was held up to the sky, almost as if trying to reach you. It was then that you felt a distinct pressure on your body, like a rush of blood to your head but to all portions of your body. Yet before it could become painful, it stopped as Kurtis and Allie's barrage against the alien continued.

That familiar grasping feeling loosed on you, and you noticed the alien's other hand desperately trying to keep up its defense against the other two. Then, that grasp cut you loose and sent you flying towards the auditorium seats like a ragdoll. The amount of power behind had made your suit blink, as you quickly shook off the impact and the remains of several wrecked seats.

'She can only control one thing at a time...', you think, getting up from the destroyed seats, '...which means...she can't let go of that barrier...'

There should be enough of an opening through that wall with all of the firepower that Kurtis and Allie are leveling against it. Though, you don't know how long that opening is going to stay active. What's more, that pink alien is getting up, albeit slowly, and making her way to the back of the stage. There was no way you were going to let her get out of here alive, even if you had to break your body against this other alien.

"Keep shooting!", you shout to the others, then prepping your gauntlets as you barrel down the auditorium at full speed.

"HRAAAAAAH!!!!"

<GREAT SUCCESS>

Your legs move like pistons down the auditorium's walkway, your body accelerating to increadible speed as you quickly approach the stage. Kurtis and Allie do not let up in their firing line at the blue alien. The barrier itself almost covers the length of the stage, but there only seems to be enough water and blood to cover up to her head. If Kurtis and Allie were to land enough shots near the edges...

As if on queue, the last of their shots hit a fragmenting portion of the barrier near the top. The splinter in the barrier soon expands to a large hole near the top. Seeing your opening, you take another leap the stage, yet this time, you're not going for height.

Utilizing your forward momentum, you propel your body forward like a cannonball, extending your fist out towards the barrier. The magnetic energy in the gauntlet lets loose as the quickly reforming hole repairs itself and soon explodes again. The sheer speed of you assault takes the alien by surprise, as you break through to the other side as water and blood splash around your body.

The pink alien's form is almost within reach, until you feel that familiar tug on your body. The blue alien's hand keeps you suspended yet again, with only your eye looking at the pink alien heading for what looks like an emergency exit in the back of the stage. With the pressure building on your body again, you start grit your teeth in rage at your own inability. That is until, another shout of anger cuts through the stage.

You hear a great impact and cracking wood, as the blue alien's body soon goes flying across the stage as if it was hit by a cannonball. Your body is loosened, and you turn your head to see Kurtis and Allie's suits activated and a massive imprint on the stage from their attack. You don't linger long on it however, as you head over to the scurrying pink alien heading right out of the back door.

You don't waste any time in trying to head her off, and she leads you back to that hall with the birds. You can see she is weak, as she only barely manages to produce her sword and hold it off against you in her left hand. In her right, a small, flickering shield is held up in a ready stance against you. You didn't care however, as this alien wouldn't get any mercy from you, or its friends.

'For...Erick...' you announce in your head, your teeth gritting to almost bleeding as you ready yourself to throw everything you have at this alien.

<GREAT SUCCESS> <VENGEANCE - O>

You don't give the pink alien any time to ready herself, as you charge like a woman possessed. Keeping your head hunched, and your body centered, your stance is like a bull coming straight for her throat. One of your hands extends to deliver a magnetically charged strike, which she blocks with her shield, albeit quite shakily.

This was part of your plan however, as her sword hand is wide open now. The alien realizes this and goes to swing at you, but her arc is too wide and too slow to get a hit in, and it misses. You twist your body around her, and deliver a swift kick to her hand, and she cries in pain as you see it bend in an irregular angle as the sword is flung away.

You don't let up for a second as you now start a barrage of punches right for her stomach and that gem of hers. The alien angles its shield towards your attack, and attempts to block. And it does block, but only for so long as the prolonged amount of physical and kinetic strength through your suit starts to cause her stance to buckle. With one savage blow to her shield, it finally shatters in to hundreds of shards. The impact is like a small explosion of glass as the alien's body is thrown to one of the bird cases.

You slowly approach to finish her off, her body growing with more of that multicolored static again. It's then that you hear a sob from this alien, which causes you to eye her face more thoroughly. Sure enough, there are tears, or what look like tears, streaming down her face. She weakly turns her head towards you, and raises her hand as if pleading you to stop.

"Please...I didn't want it to-", the pink alien starts, but is quickly silenced as you start beating into her quickly dissipating skull. These aliens, no these fucking monsters that killed Erick and almost Yukino were going to ask for mercy again? There is no satisfying crunch, no shouts of pain, or any indication besides glimmers of light, as you continue deliver blow after blow into her her. The alien's body begins to dissipate to shimmering light, yet you continue to punch into the cracking ground.

Whether you did it out of continued frustration or melancholy, you finally stop after the third punch in. A wave of pain courses through your head, and you let out a series of long breaths to attempt to return yourself sane again. Erick's killer was now dead, or rather close enough to being dead judging by the cracked gem now laying below your knees.

Your pondering mind would soon be interrupted as the sound of loud crashing and more fighting seemed to erupt from almost all portions of the lower floor. You took one last look at the gem, before you quickly decided on another course of action.

'They're all dead. All of them.'

+1 AGR, - 1 WIL

You give one final glance at the floor and at the cracked gem before you. This little stone had been responsible for Erick's death, for the attack on the group, and so many other pieces of misery this night. Yet, they had tried to negotiate, to act like humans, and above that had shown sentient intelligence unlike the other aliens you had faced. These thoughts were brushed from your mind, as you delivered as solid stomp to where that gem used to be.

A satisfying crunch, and shattering motion came from below your foot. You quickly lifted it to see that all that remained of that pink gem were little more than several thousand pulverized shards. There was a part of you that said she would have been worth more points if you had taken her alive. That part of you was almost deafened by your aggressive need to end the life of Erick's killer. At least now, he would be somewhat at ease.

You didn't linger much longer on this, as you speed back to the auditorium. The emergency exit almost gives way as you charge through, and arrive at a dire sight. The blue gem's invisible grip is placed directly on Allie and Kurtis, their bodies levitating off of the floor and a large bubble of water and blood was attempting to drown them, yet something appeared wrong. Their bodies were neither convulsing, and they were appearing to legitimately struggle against the alien's grip. In that second, you found your answer right on the alien's back.

'Her gem,' you thought, looking at a growing crack on the alien's gem, 'she's weakened.'

Your loud entrance didn't keep your presence unnoticed however, as the alien's head soon turned to you. With a swift motion of her arms, she flung Kurtis and Allie to the audience stands and then quickly turning to you. You wasted no time in quickly distancing yourself from her, moving back behind the emergency door. Interestingly enough, you no grip came as did not attack from the alien.

'She has to see me to do that,' you concluded, readying your gauntlets, 'which means that she's limited in line of sight...'

Kurtis and Allie's attacks were both to her front and were quickly stopped by the alien. Yet when Kurtis hit her from behind when she gripped you, she had almost no reaction time to respond. If you were going to take this one down, it would have to be coordinated. Only problem was, there was no time to explain to them what would happen, only a single shout and hope that they caught on to your plan.

'Erick...you were always better at this...'

Your attack would have to swift and fluid for this to work. As well as line up with Kurtis and Allie's in order to get a good enough surround on her position. The amount of factors that laid in this plan were almost discouraging to you. Even if it did work, there was no guarantee she didn't have yet another trick up her sleeve.

These doubts were brushed from your head, as you let out a long breath to ready your head for what was to come. You readied your gauntlets and positioned your feet close to the entrance burst in again. That familiar rage returned back to your head, as you quickly remembered that this was the bitch that had dealt the killing blow to Erick.

With a swift motion of your feet, you charged headlong into the emergency door. Your suit expanding your muscles in your charge and almost blowing the door from its hinges. Your legs propelled you forwards towards your objective, as the alien's body seemed to have grown wings from the water and blood. And she was heading for the doors fast.

<GREAT SUCCESS>

Allie and Kurtis don't take long to respond as they quickly start shooting from their positions into the now flying alien. How water caused her to fly was something you weren't going to question, much less so considering how maneuverable she was. From the barrage of fire from the others, the blue alien managed to dodge and evade them all incredibly quickly.

There was no more trying to defend itself, though you guess that it was because she was lacking more water to do so. Now, it was focused entirely on retreating, something you weren't going to allow it to do. As the alien's continued evasion of the shots continued, it didn't take long for one shot to get through, though not from their guns.

The utilization of your suit was something to behold as you quickly sprinted from the back of the stage and leap as if from a springboard at its very edge. Wood splintered under the sheer pressure of your foot, as you ascended to meet the blue alien. Caught in a firing line, the alien's body almost swerved into you as you almost tackled her from the sky.

She landed with a yelp of pain to her side, laying on the front end of the auditorium with your hand now around her head. The alien's body was cold to the touch, inhumanly cold given the amount of energy she must have utilized. Not that it would matter in a few second, as you readied the gauntlet's magnetic energy to break this alien apart.

That was until a high pitched noise reached your ears.

"Paula look out!", a voice shouted behind you, as you quickly swerved your head back.

A thin torrent of water surged from where the alien's wings used to be. At its impact sight, there was a smooth cut made into the concrete as if a blade had cut directly onto it. You noticed the alien's free palm readying a motion towards you, no doubt trying to get another cheap shot in. That hand was soon blown off into pieces, as a shot from the back of the auditorium rang out.

Th alien screamed again in agony, before you final silence it with a magnetic blow to the back of its head. Like the pink one before it, her body dissipated in a shimmering light, leaving only a cracked blue gem behind. It was another of these monsters down, but you wouldn't get much satisfaction before the sound of more fighting erupted behind the closed atrium doors.

"Paula!", Allie shouted, moving closer to you, "I think Dante and the others were heading out to find the remaining aliens. We need to finish them off to get back right?"

"Yeah...", you reply back, and then your gaze lands on Erick's remains near the back, "...we need to go back. Let's head on out, the others are going to need our help."

'Those fucking aliens are going to need some help,' you ponder, readying the gauntlets yet again, 'no one else is dying tonight ...except them.'

<Gantz Sword - GET>

You didn't give the order right away, instead heading over to the little cracked blue gem and quickly throwing it in the garbage can near the front entrance. Your hatred and rage over Erick's death had blinded you previously, as you knew that these things were worth more alive. Whatever hell or horror would lay in wait for that alien at the other end of the teleporter, it would be too merciful regardless.

"Both of you head to the cafe," you state, then turn back towards Erick's remains, "I'll join you both in a second. I need to...take care of something first."

"Paula...", Allie starts, until a shouldered hand and a knowing gaze from Kurtis retreated her statement, "Alright, don't take too long, ok? Let's go Kurtis."

The hurried pace of those two quickly exits the auditorium, along with the brief din of battle as those doors opened. You don't pay it too much mind, as you similarly hurry over towards Erick's landing.

You had seen what happened to Erick, as well as the outcome, yet you had not really taken the sight in detail. The honeyed brown locks of his hair were but bloodied and matted patches on what remained on his scalp. What supple and whiting skin remained was marred by grizzle and jutting bone, along with the features on his face. He had become more dried blood and bone than the man you had once recognized.

Not even a drop of fresh blood remained on his body, all no doubt taken by that blue alien now in the trash bin near the auditorium's doors. It made your stomach turn, as well as your head. More feelings of familiar rage welled up inside you as you looked towards where the remains of his hips were. Carefully unlatching it, you pulled the hilt of Erick's sword out and quickly turned towards the door.

"I'm sorry...", you said, knowing full well he wouldn't hear you, "I'll bring it back to you. Just...give me some time."

You quickly made your way towards the atrium cafe, making sure to holster the sword for eventual use. Before you could pass the final pillar however, two flying bodies passed the hall and into the glass of the gift shop at great speed. You didn't wait to find out who they were before you heard the sound of struggling and rushed to the dining tables. It was there that you saw Dante's body, struggling and suspended in mid air by a large, fuchsia colored alien with two massive gauntlets in its hands.

"See what I told you?," the fuchsia colored alien stated in a strange British accent, as Dante's struggling got slower, "It doesn't matter how many. I'm still stronger than you."

You let out a shout of rage as you activate the sword with the button the hilt. The blade extends almost instantly and you charge furiously at the alien holding Dante. Your stabbing motion goes for its thin abdomen, yet the blade doesn't connect. In fact, you never even reach the alien, as its body twists around you, and delivers a swift kick to your back.

'It didn't even...turn around...', you think on, as you soon hit a pillar, 'It must have known reinforcements were on the way...'

"Care to try that again?" the alien asks, before winding its shoulder back and flinging Dante to the back wall. There is a loud crack of concrete, and Dante's shouts of pain before the alien turns her head to you. You don't waste any time getting up, and adopt the most heavy stance you can manage with the sword in your arms.

"You're not getting away with what you did," you state, your voice turning into a growl, "None of you are!"

<FAILURE>

Powered by the suits enhancements, you swiftly move forwards against the alien. This time however, you swing the sword over your shoulder in an attempt to create a wide arc of slashing. The alien isn't huge like the one in the ocean hall, yet even it shouldn't be able to dodge this. Your eyes widen however, as you strike only whooshes past the alien's head.

You didn't even notice it tilt its head until your swing finally came around. You don't let up however, as you utilize the momentum of your initial swing to slash at the alien yet again. But once again, the swings don't connect and the alien's dodging only seems to become faster as your swings continue. Something is wrong here, and it can't be just incredibly fast reflexes like those white aliens. After what seems like two more dodges, the alien once again twists its body and delivers another swift kick to your abdomen and drives you straight into the pillar you got sent to.

'What the hell...?', you think, trying to get up from the rubble, 'How is she doing that...She can't be...predicting them...right?"

There is little time to respond on your side, as the alien quickly closes the distance. You can only raise your arm to shield yourself from the incoming onslaught. The suit activates to shield you against the obscene amount of force from the alien's strikes, yet you can nonetheless feel these blows.

What would normally be insect bites to you from a normal blunt force attack, start quickly feeling like baseball bats against your arms. The sheer intensity of the alien's punches tear into the pillar's metallic center as you're dug deeper into the concrete portion. The suits blinking is almost in the red by the time the alien delivers a massive windup to your arms, and blows apart the remains of the pillar.

You go flying, along with several portions of rubble and rebar, and land at what you can only assume is the cafe's counter. The repeated impacts on your suit have driven it to the brink of deactivation. Through the thick cloud of dust however, you see a silhouette moving closer, past the pillar at very fast speed.

'Another hit like that...', you ponder, quickly getting up to meet the alien, '...no, I can't let it end here...'

It's going to take particularly good timing on your part for this to work. Even with her ridiculously fast speed, there's no way she could dodge if she's close enough to you with that much momentum. Yet, even as the dust particles are blow away by her advance, you don't doubt yourself any longer.

Erick's entire strategic planning was based on taking chances, and you would be here to see it realized by your hands. You firmly grasp the hilt on the sword and ready your feet for the attack to come. The alien's form finally clears the dust and almost flies with a swing of its massive gauntlet at you. Even if you fail, the others won't be too far behind to pick up the slack from this one.

<CRIT SUCCESS>
+1 INT, +1 AGR

For a split second, everything is still around you. Every possible sound, from the rush of the oncoming alien to the cracking and creaking of the counter-top behind you, is distinguished in seconds. Erick's image is caught in your eyes, that stupid grin of his and those green eyes looking back at you. All of it, is instantly replaced by that gory effigy that you saw in the auditorium, only the bloodied dark sockets looking back at you. With the image of pure malice and hatred in your mind, you swing the sword up.

As horrific, agonized scream bursts behind you, followed by a heavy crash on the side wall. More dust is kicked up as pieces of concrete and marble are thrown apart in what seems like a bomb went off right next to you. You have to hold yourself to the counter to just barely stay on your fee through that. As soon as it settles down a little, you head towards the impact site.

You don't get far before your foot comes in contact with something on the ground. You adjust your eyes to see that it's one of the alien's arms, along with part of its gauntlet. Before you can investigate further, the severed piece glows white and suddenly transforms into a small, long haired blue alien, looking quite hurt from how she's shuddering. Immediately, you go to finish the job, but a loud shout of anger and a fiery swing moves past the fog towards you.

Another small figure, a red one this time in a disheveled security guard outfit, swings and misses at you. You keep it at sword length, but it doesn't pursue you outside of the immediate zone close to the blue one.

"Don't...fight her," the blue alien says, tugging at the uniform of the red one, "Something...is wrong with this one...I...couldn't predict her...you'll die if you fight."

"You got that right," you reply back, swinging your sword around, "You're not going to win so might as well just surrender. Why even fight it, now that you're like this?"

"To protect those we love!", the red one shouts to you, her palms glowing red with heat, "SOMETHING YOU WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT! All you've done is kill and destroy since you came here. We'll never lose to you, even if we're apart like this!"

'Still pretending to be human?,' you think, hearing the commotion of approaching feet, 'Give me a fucking break.'

<GREAT SUCCESS>

Enough time has been spent talking. No, it was talking and mercy that got Erick killed to begin with. These aliens, no matter how much they pretend to be, will never be humans like you or the others. Erick believed in them, but you weren't going to let the past repeat itself. They are the one that would never understand loving or caring about someone, no matter how much they say they do.

You came at the small red alien with a mean downward swing. Erick's blade split the air in its arc, and the little alien only barely managed to dodge out of the way. But not enough as you delivered a solid roundhouse kick to her head, knocking her to the ground. She let out out a frustrated grunt, but you see a nick on her head as she gets up.

Even if she's ignoring the pain, she's probably not too resilient. You go to stab her on the ground, yet she doesn't even try to dodge this time, as you impale her right through the stomach. She lets out a howl of pain but then grasps the blade of your sword with those fiery hands of hers. You try to pry it out, but the sword doesn't even budge from that spot. You then realize that her hands are not the only thing that's glowing on her body, as so does her head.

"RUBY!", the blue one screams, some of her bangs dropping to reveal a large singular eye, "Don't do it! If you take on that much heat, you'll-!"

"I know!," she shouts, as you both continue to struggle to pry the sword from her stomach, "GET OUT OF HERE!"

'What the hell is it trying to do?!', you ponder, and quickly notice that the heat is becoming very high again, 'Is it going to...?'

You don't get your answer as a singular shot rings from the other side of the dust. A shout of pain soon emits from the red alien, as you start seeing part of its body shifting with static. There is shout of anguish from the blue alien, as the head of the red one explodes into a shower of glimmering red sparks, leaving only a red gem behind. You almost double back from the recoil as the sword is suddenly loosened from the nonexistent body of the alien.

"Ruby...", the blue one state, a long line of tears lining up her face, "...I...I...I'm so...sorry..."

Another few shots light up the dust cloud, and Allie and Kurtis soon emerge from it. A look of relief soon follows them upon finding you, along with a look of somewhat sadness upon seeing the blue alien's state. It doesn't last long, as the alien's body similarly dissipates into blueish sparks, leaving only its blue gem behind. Allie and Kurtis then turn their heads back towards you.

"We were so worried...", Allie starts, "After we saw that dust could and the shouting, I assumed the worst...that thing, it was predicting our every move..."

"Even five on 1," Kurtis adds, then his eyes go wide, "Oh shit, we need to look for the others. Maria and Dante lost their suits in the fight, but Carol..."

"Where did you last see her?" you interrupt, giving Kurtis a serious look, "Just tell me where she is. I don't need the details."

"We last saw her get slammed against several of the tables," Kurtis says, then tries to speed up, "She's probably near the last of the pillars in the cafe. Paula, wait, what about-"

"No more discussion," you bluntly state, then quickly reach down and pick up the remains of the aliens, "you two can look for Maria and Dante. Remember there's another one in that trash can in the auditorium!"

"Wait, Paula!", Allie shouts, yet you continue running, "What about the others?! Chris's group still hasn't shown up, and the radar's busted after we got hit!"

You don't listen much to them after that, just making sure to focus on finding Carol. You don't even hear them behind you after you leave, though you figure this is because they heeded your command. It doesn't distract you however, as you head over towards a less ample amount of tables near the back.

It appears as if a bomb had gone off in the dining area, as several of the tables are either flipped over or just destroyed. That being said, a large lack of tables near the back soon leads you to a massive convergence of them, stacked and piled up on top of each other. You quickly look into your radar to confirm your hunt, and it indeed shows that Carol is somewhere below that pile.

"Can you hear me Carol?!", you shout into that pile, and low moan of pain replies back, "I'm coming alright, I'll get you out of there! Just, please hang on!"

Even with this many tables piled up, it doesn't take you long to quickly dig through them with the suit's strength. After about six or seven tables leaving the pile, you find Carol looking very worse for wear. The suit is not only activated, but seems to be shredded in places where either metal or wood scraped her, along with several black spots of bruises on her legs and face.

"Paula....please, don't...", she almost pleads, as you keep digging out the tables to get to her full body, "It's too..."

Her speech is quickly interrupted as you move the last of the tables. Yet upon exposing the rest of her body, you almost reel back at the sight. Her legs are limp...no, it's much worse than that. Her spine, or part of her lower back seems to be bent in an almost sharp angle. With the amount of nerve endings in an area like that, you legitimately wonder how she is even still alive...

"I...can't feel my legs...", Carol states, meekly moving her head to the side, "Paula...please, don't..."

"Oh my god, Carol..." you exclaim, then quickly head to her side, "Don't worry, were going to stay right here, alright? SOMEONE! PLEASE HELP!"

Carol almost flinches back at your shouts, though you imagine any sort of movement even minor like that could be remotely painful in her current state. After what seems like a full minute of shouting however, someone does arrive, though you could not imagine a worse time. Mahsann, with a deactivated suit and a crazed, bloody look in his eyes almost rises from the dust in the back.

"How the fuck are you walking?", you ask in complete disbelief, "They broke your damn legs! Dante and the others-"

"Yeah, funny thing about that," he interrupts, now holding what looks like a rifle in his hands towards you, "the aliens, you kept saying were the enemy, actually gave them back. Gotta thank Rose Quartz for that one really, only expected me to kill at least one of you at the ambush site. That other Latina chick was well worth my legs again."

"Maria...?", you reply in shock, then shake your head, "You'd better be fucking lying you bastard. And you'd better start running now if you know what's good for you!"

"That's the other thing really," he continues, the rifle lighting up a little, "If you move from that spot, that little black girl dies as well. If you don't...well, I hope you enjoy the next five seconds of your life."

Erick offered this bastard mercy, even after he tried to kill Carol, and this would be how he would repay it. If there was ever any justice in the world, you almost hoped that it would just burst this fucker's skull in. You didn't reply back immediately, only just stared him down and readied yourself for what was to come.

"So", Mahsann stated one last time, aiming down the sights of the rifle, "What'll it be?"

'If I move, Carol dies...', you weighed in your head, readying yourself for what was to come, 'if I shield her...she may live, but I die. Damnit...I have to go for broke...'

You would need to move Carol, and quickly get her out of that pile. You could take one shot, but you would need to be fast on your feet to avoid the next. It was simple, yet probably even more risky given Carol's state. Yet as you readied yourself to move, a familiar shot and flash of light arose from Mahsann.

"Huh..?", Mahsann said, then quickly realized that the shot had come from behind him, "B-but..I didn't shoo-"

He doesn't finish his sentence as his head expands outwardly like a water balloon. You cover your face for the oncoming gore, as Mahsann lets out a single squeal from his swollen lips. A sickening burst of blood and brain matter splatter you and Carol, as Mahsann's body falls limply to the floor. Upon returning your gaze back to the sight, your eyes fall on an unexpected figure standing right behind Mahsann with a blood splattered grin.

"No Erick to save you now, shit head," Chris says, stepping over the corpse towards you, "heard your screaming and I couldn't really resist pulling the trigger on this bastard. I believe a 'thank you' is in order?"

"Chris...thank you," you almost reluctantly state, "What about the others? Are Claire and Silvia-"

"They're fine don't worry about them," he replies, then showing you a bright yellow gem in his hand, "Those two are really good on a rifle, helped me take down that big bitch with the crash helmet. They're currently trying to find Maria with Allie, but I don't read her on the radar."

"Chris!", Silvia's voice cuts through the dust, as she approaches him with tears in her eyes, "Maria...her head, it's...she's...oh god...!"

She just cries into her palms, with Chris looking at her with surprise and you looking on in shock. It was just like Mahsann announced, she really was dead. There was little to no time to mourn however as you soon saw several more figures approach from the dust, all of them looking in different states of pain and wear. Dante and Allie were still the worst with the former's legs almost bent in a worse angle than Carol's spine. Even Yukino, who was now standing up and helping up Tanjeet seemed to be in better shape than most of them. Though, to your horror, she was also the first to speak up from the group.

"Paula...where is Erick...?", Yukino asked, a terrified look in her eyes, "He's...alright, right...? I mean...he survived worse than...that during my first mission...he's alive, right?"

Allie and Kurtis almost shrank at the question, trying to find solace in the silence. Yet this only added to the gazes now looking at you for clarity.

OOC: Actually, I think I will have to call it here guys, with work early tomorrow.

Give me your write ins, as the rule of inclusion still applies here. I will get you guys a small update tomorrow around 6-7 PM EST.

We'll continue this thread going into the next weekend, probably around 3-4 PM EST for that Saturday.

Have a good night /qst/! This one was crazy.

"He died to the blue and pink gem aliens. Managed to do enough to the pink one for me to avenge him."
>walk up and hug Yukino
"But it's not over yet. We have the last of the aliens as gems. If we use the Y-Gun or Y-Launcher to send them away, we could get enough points to bring Erick back."
>give everyone a hopeful look
"It could be enough. Maybe more than enough."

>>
>>2769933
Do not explain a thing, just hug Yukino and grab her gun, we don't wabt to give Chris a chance to steal kill

"He is not good, but soon he will be." we say while grabing her Y-gun. We run to the trash can and transpor the blue together with the other two we got
>>
>>2770085
this, the less we tell her now the better, we may still bring him back tonight
>>
>>2769933
Fuck. Changing my vote to >>2770085
Forgot Chris is a killstealing motherfucker and he's RIGHT FUCKING HERE
>>
>>2770085
I'll support this as well. But since when is he a kill stealer?

>>2770094
He killed Amethyst, but you can't teller me it's a kill steal if we spared them. Yeah, he's an asshat, but he was involved in the fight regardless as well as at least asking to have one of the kills.
>>
>>2770139
I don't remember when but he praised us for "kill stealing" once, and what he did during the interrogation was pure bullshit since we did most of the heavy lifting and he and his whore got all the points.

fuck, I don't want Chris to die as much I want those twin bitches to die, I expected him to be an asshole, their betrayal got me by surprise and made me mad, I wish we hadn't saved her on their first night
>>
>>2770181
>he praised us for "kill stealing" once

That was at the end of the last mission, and he praised us for having the balls to take out the whole cathedral boss and the half of the angels.

Remember that Chris only gives a shit about baddassery and being as reckless as he is. He hates cowards like Joshua.

>he and his whore got all the points

First off, he kept that bitch from getting her weapon and then used it against her during the fight. We only delivered the coup de grace if anything.

Now, as for Silvia killing Peridot, we dont really know if she did it on Chris's command. This is something we need to rationalize better than just pointing a finger because he's an asshole. Which he is but I feel you guys are blowing it out of proportion.

Legit though, the twins are still loyal to Maria...but now that she's gone...
>>
>>2770241
he said he was not responsible for the other kill seconds before the twin shot the other gem, they had to be in cahoots, the were cahooting! What makes it worse is that Maria was on our side on the whole exchange so before betraying us they betrayed their friend, those bitches are not familiar with the concept of loyalty
>>
>>2770269
Chill, man, killing aliens is literally the only option for these people. You're in a death game and have to eliminate all the targets or die. we still don't IC know what happens when you hit 0 on the timer
>>
>>2770269
Chris said that AFTER Silvia killed Peridot, and that was only after Paula had started uncovering people out of the rubble.
Literally has nothing to do with loyalty there.

>>2770782
Well, we kind of do know what happens if the timer runs out if you've read Gantz.

Al's, pretty sure Chris probably doesnt care about getting out of the game.

There are few times in your life when you've frozen out of fear, and fewer still at a lack of words. Life in New York had instilled a quick wit to your words, yet you could not find any to say to Yukino. To let her know the truth would crush her even more than she currently was. To hide it, would only make its eventual revelation only worse. Whether it was some latent maternal instinct or an impulsive action did not matter, as you got down to your knees and hugged Yukino right then and there.

"He's not good", you state, just loud enough for the others to hear, "But soon he will be. Trust me...alright?"

You didn't see the looks on everyone faces, yet the silence told you more than enough. Whatever noise was in the room was now relegated to Yukino, as you started to hear a slight whimper on her lips. It was an unpleasant sound to your ears, something that you were trying to avoid. You didn't wait for it continue, or for everyone's further reaction, as you quickly unlatched the Y-Gun from Yukino's holster and quickly moved to her side.

"Paula, what are you-", Dante asked, before you took off in a sprint. The voices of everyone else seemed to just drown out, as their exclamations got smaller as you reached the auditorium's doors. It surprised even you just how fast you managed to get here again, as you slammed the doors behind you. You wasted no time in finding that trash can, as it as right where you left it near the front of the doors. Though...quickly rummaging through the top garbage there, you found nothing.

You stuck your arm in deeper and still found nothing. You turned the trash can over and emptied its contents on the floor, and still yet found nothing. There was no sign of that little blue gem here, as a cold panicked sweat began to draw on your brow. The others came in as you were on your knees, desperately looking through the trashcan for anything. You were just about to look at your radar to see if it was even here, when Allie acknowledged you.

"Paula, what are you doing?", she asked, before you swatted her away in frustration, "Jesus, calm down, what's going on? We can try to help if you-"

"It's not here!", you exclaim, getting up and the looking at the others, "I left that alien's gem in here the moment we went to help Dante. Where the hell is it?!"

"Wait...that was yours...?", Claire meekly states, before all eyes turn on her, "I-I...I didn't know it was yours...I just thought...someone just forgot it there...I didn't want it to come back like the other one did..."

'This...stupid fucking bimbo...', you thought, as a seething cloud of rage started up in your head again.

Also, we should still have Pearl's gem right? It should be enough with hers, right?

>>
>>2773246
Last i recall Pearl's gem was with Tanjee and i wouldn't be against of him wanting to keep it so they can revive Maria.

But unfortunantly, i think that even if we telegraph Pearl, we won't be able to get the 60 points Paula needs to revive Erick this round.

Also i think it's time to keep the Tanjee our medic on our side so se should give him the points after all Maria was killed due to a betrayal.
>>
Ah we also have Rubi and Saphire gems. Alie and Kurtis are holding then, maybe if we telegraph the saphire, which basicaly a psy we can get i dunno maybe 20 points for each one even if Ruby is actualy a grunt unit.
>>
Also so far from our group the only one beside Chris (who said he had 80+ points before dying) is Paula. Maybe if we manage to telegraph all the gems that are still intact we might get around 20+ points for Jasper and Pearl (I'm saying this as a guess because if i recall the alien stateus had the job of guardians and they were worth around 20+ points.

"You...what?!", you explode, rising to your feet and slowly approach Claire, "How the fuck am I supposed to get him back now, you stupid bitch! PENDEJA LADRONA DE PUNTOS!"

"W-wait...I really didn't know!", Claire meekly replies, almost shrinking back to Silvia and Chris, "We saw w-what happens when you leave those things out for too long. I-I...I just...didn't want it to come back, like the yellow one..."

"So you think the alien died in a fucking trash can?!", you respond, kicking the trash can with such force it causes Claire to jump, "How retarded are you?! I left it there so I could send it away with this!"

You hold up Yukino's Y-Gun, close enough to Claire that she finds it difficult to look away. By now, the others are giving you a wide berth to vent. Whether they're on your side or just don't want to get caught in the middle, you don't know nor really care.

"Paula, lay off!", Silvia retorts, trying to return you fierce gaze but she flinches away a little as she does, "She's telling you the truth. None of us knew why that was in there, we just saw it on the radar and capped it for safety."

"I'm not sure if you're both that stupid," you continue, and now get up in their face, "Or if you think I am actually that stupid and didn't just try to steal it like that green alien. Either way-"

"YUKINO DON'T!", Allie shouts, and everyone turns to see Yukino, now at Erick's corpse and holding the hilt of her sword right to her throat. Your blood veritably freezes in your veins, as the others just stare in shock at possibly gruesome sight. At the angle she's pointing it, if she were to press the button right now...

"It's my fault too...", Yukino states, holding the hilt closer, "I'm stupid...too stupid to save Erick...and now it's also my fault he won't...come back..."

"YUKINO PUT THAT DOWN, NOW!", you shout, and slowly move from the group towards her, "Please, just calm down. I know Erick is dead, and I above everyone else knows that it hurts so much to lose him but-"

"YOU SAID IT YOURSELF PAULA", she screams back, and you start to see tears in her eyes, "You can't get Erick back without the points! And it's because of retards like me that it won't happen!"

"W-what?", you almost reel back, yet continue your slow advance as the others continue to just watch in silence, "Yukino, what are-"

"I BROKE THE ONE IN THE BAG!", Yukino shouts, much louder than before, "I was so angry, at myself and the aliens that...I just...broke it, with this sword! And now..Erick...IT'S ALL MY FAULT!!"

You'd never felt such a gut-wrenching feeling in your stomach until now. Yet, it wasn't at Yukino's revelation, but at what she was about to do. As Yukino's little fingers trembled on the sword's trigger, you weighed your options carefully.

Yukino, think about this, would Erick want you to do this. I need your help to bring him back, and you breaking that one gem definitely isn't the equivalent to the amount of help that you can give me and bringing him back. Please don't do this, for Erick.

"Yukino, I understand what you did", you start, yet Yukino just shakes her head, "Believe me, I know better than you know think, because I did the same thing."

Yukino's eyes slowly turn to you. It is a look of pure sadness, only highlighted more by her tears.

"I had the pink one in my hands" you continue, trying to hold back your own tears, "and I was so angry, so overcome with rage that I...broke it, knowing full well that it wouldn't help Erick."

"My mind was so clouded by anger over what they did to you and...", you paused, then took a deep sigh, "to Erick, that I couldn't control myself. But we can't just stop now, especially not now, alright?"

Yukino's once slight tremble in her hands now turns to full shaking, almost begging for that blade to be released. Yet, given the now attentive stare, you can tell you're getting to her.

"Tonight, we both lost Erick", you continue, now taking a few slow steps forward, "but he would be much sadder if one of us wasn't here to welcome him back. So please...don't let me lose you too, Yukino..."

A few tears escape your eyes as you say that last portion, yet you keep your voice steady. At your first few steps forward, Yukino's arm trembles a little more before she turns the hilt of the blade away from her neck. Your eyes widen with relief for a brief second, before Yukino quickly whips the hilt with her arm and throws it against the wall with a shout of frustration. The next though, Yukino breaks down into a weep of tears and embraces you in a run.

"Paula...I'm...s-so-sorry..." she weeps, and you only clutch her closer, "I-I...I didn't want t-to....I-I just...d-didn't want to be...O-oh...Erick...I-I just...don't want him...g-gone..."

"Let's both work together," you soothe, caressing her head, "and bring him back then, alright?"

"Yeah, you got our help in that as well", Kurtis states, moving up next to you along with Allie, "I owe Erick my life, so this seems a good way to repay it. And Allie still says he owes her for a lot that's happened already."

"Mine too," Dante states, putting his hand on your shoulder, "Erick's had our backs since the start of this thing, and it's only fair we give him a second chance."

"You hear that Yukino?", you say, Yukino turning her head up to you, "We're all going to get him back. That's how strong Erick wanted us to be."

Yukino pulls away from you for a bit and looks to the others. There's a slight change in her expression as she looks to those that Erick had helped, those that were willing to risk the game to bring him back. This was interrupted however, by a knock on the door, by a leaning Tanjeet.

"H-Hey guys?", he asks, and everyone turns to him, "The timer's almost up you know...so shouldn't we get back to finishing the mission? Also...where are Chris and the girls?"

I'm more worried with the gems regenerating again and going after the group during the week then that...remember Paula killed their leader.
>>
>>2777714
Friend no if we make people go we leave ourself open it will be just Paula, Tanjee, Kurtis and Ellie. i half expect someone (Chris) to try and turn Tanjee into a hostage remember, with Maria dead he can recruit the twins to steal the points to try and revive Maria.
>>
>>2776749
We get more points capturing the gems rather than shooting them.
>>
>>2777743
Ok let's not jump to complete conclusions here.

We know Chris is a selfish and immature asshat but he's not going to start that level of dickbaggery quite yet. At least, not so long as Dante is still around.

<00:04:00>

"Let them be", you say, quickly looking at the decreasing timer on your radar, "we don't have enough time to waste on them. Right now, we need to get outside and get this mission over and done with."

You calmly pull away from Yukino, with her reluctantly releasing her grip on you. There's a small sigh from her as you do this, but her eyes show understand at your actions. You move away from the group and towards the back entrance of the museum. The cooling spring air and motor infused noise of the DC night traffic almost catches by surprise as you step outside. The sheer normality almost made the night appear mundane in your mind, in spite of what had happened in the museum.

You take out the red and blue gems from your holster, place them on the ground and take out the Y-Gun.This thing was always Erick's favorite, probably because he was too squeamish to shoot something when you first met. It had saved your life as well as the lives of the others on numerous occasions, as he had become more experienced with it. Yet, even he would have been surprised when instead of a net shooting out, a single laser dropped from the sky instantly, and whisked the two little gems away.

"Doesn't it usually have to have something in a net before it does that?", Yukino's voice chimes in next to you,, "think it's because they weren't moving already and it just did it instantly?"

"I don't know," you reply, taking another look at your radar, "timer still hasn't stopped though...god, Chris better scan his gem already...also, where are the others?"

"They decided to stay back", Yukino responds, then quietly holding your hand, "Tanjeet said he wanted to help Carol out, so they should be helping them-"

Yukino paused abruptly, her eyes growing wide as they stared at an unknown point. You asked what was wrong, but your gaze soon aligned with Yukino's own. Not a few yards from the entrance, a spark of electrical light seemed to shimmer as four strange figures stepped towards the entrance. Their gait, and bipedal motion was human, yet light of the night traffic only hid their alien proportions to you. Of the four approaching figures, one of them you quickly recognized by the coiled, scaly tail it carried behind as it walked forward.

"Yukino...", you whisper, motioning back towards the doors, "...run. RUN."

She doesn't answer as she runs quickly back to the entrance, you following right behind. There is almost a crash of glass as you both pass the doors with force. You don't look back for a second to see if those things are in pursuit. Upon reaching the restaurant's pillars, you wave in panic to the others huddling up near Carol's pile of tables.

"THERE'S MORE!", you shout, catching everyone's attention, "THERE'S FOUR MORE OF THINGS COMING! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE, NOW!"

"Shit...", Kurtis responds, and quickly looks to Tanjeet, "you're gonna have to give me a hand right now. Even if it risks her life we have to-"

"You are not moving her Kurtis," Dante interrupts, shooting him a glance, "Tanjeet was clear if she moves then she dies. We'll to make a stand right here."

"Wait but the radar's not picking anything", Allie replies, quickly looking at her radar, "...wait...doesn't that mean that Chris finished off his aliens then? Shouldn't we be going back if-"

The sound of metal bending and glass shattering enters the once quiet hall of the lower atrium, as do several steady footsteps. Or rather, several human sized footsteps and another set sounding closer to heavy stomps. The others don't waste any time in taking positions around the pillars and Carol, and you do the same next to Yukino. Your heartbeat increases as the footsteps get closer, only made worse by the otherwise stillness in the air.

Four figures step in a hurried motion across the darkness in the central corridor of the lower atrium. Though you cannot fully make out their forms, you can tell from this angle that they are not human. Their bipedal motion is betrayed by the hunched over and almost predatory gait in their step, along with their varying sizes.

The smallest of them, the one you recognized with the curled tail, iss not much bigger than you and seemed to be not so much as walking but scampering around the area. While the largest one is a muscular, hulking beast standing a head above even Kurtis in height, and dragged its fat, ridged tail along the ground.

No one dared to make a sound as these figures pass across the hall, seemingly ignoring you. Yet you nor the others let their guard up, keeping every gun at the ready in case something changes. Their direction seems to head towards the auditorium, as the smallest one already dissapears from sight along with the others of its group. For a brief moment, you hear a sigh of relief from the rest of the team.

Then, a loud sniff, like a massive hound-dog looking for a scent, permeates the room with a rumbling hiss following it. The sound of stomps then begin again, this time however, they are moving closer to the restaurant.

As the alien's stomps continue to get closer, the three standing members of the team look towards you for support. Being the closest, you steel your nerves and motion to hold their positions. Given the cover of the pillars, and their current spacing, the current formation on the team is good enough to turn the small area into a killing zone. They nod their heads at your command, and then adjust themselves to the alien's movements.

The loud stomps of that thing finally bring its massive, muscular form into view, and you hold your hand to signal a ready action. The others take aim, ready to open fire if thing gets closer. Its extremities look like scaly treetrunks in width, and several plates of what you only describe as bone or armor run along its back and part of its tail. In the low light of the lower atrium, you also spot an unmistakable crocodilian-like snout as it moves its lumbering mass not a few yards to the front of your pillars and stops near Mahsann's corpse.

<YrrarCh Cu'rmAc.> a gurgling, throaty growl escapes its lips before its massive arms pick up Mahsann's corpse, and viciously starts devouring it. The crunching of bones and sickening splatter of gore permeates the restaurant as the alien messily tears Mahsann's body apart. Even with the psychological screening and crime scene work you've done, the sight before you is almost too much. The others share your sentiment, winging and cringing away from the gory spectacle.

As the alien continues to indulge itself, a familiar whirr begins to resounds near your side. You turn to look, and see that Yukino's body is starting to teleport away. She panics for a second, trying to hold on to you, before her full torso is taken away. Tanjeet is next, as his body is whisked away as the alien starts on Mahsann's legs. Then, Kurtis and Allie as they continue to hold their fire, probably figuring the alien is more concerned for its free dinner than to care about the group.

Soon, only you, Dante and Carol remain as the now hulking mass of muscles and scales finishes eating. It lets out what you can only describe as a belch. Dante is the next to go, almost letting out a sigh of relief before you both see the alien's gaze soon falls on Carol.

<MraaKa YrrarCh Cu'mAc!>, the alien lets out another gurgling growl and you see it licking its massive chops as it stares at Carol's stuck position. You turn to see Carol's face white with horror followed by her ragged breathing turning into shallow breaths. Dante is fixed on the alien's position, yet before he can let out a shot the rest of his torso and then legs are taken away.

You don't have a moment to breath as the alien then starts moving towards Carol's body. Even if you can't take this thing down, you'll make every second count.

<CRITICAL FAILURE> <Sword - Mastery - Novice>

The alien's steps aren't very fast. In fact, its pace is almost leisurely as it moves forwards. But even if it was going at a hundred miles a second, you wouldn't have hesitated to make your move. As the alien's stomps clear the last pillar near you, a single sound of an extending blade clears the air.

Your suit expands with muscular ligament to match the alien before you, as you move from cover with your blade extended. The alien's side is exposed to the attack, and it didn't even seem to react as you swing your blade. With an horizontal cut enhanced by the superhuman properties of the suit, you hit the alien's massive shoulder. Only for the blade to almost bounce off along with what look like bony chips almost shattering from the alien's shoulder.

'Wha-...but where did those...?' you think, trying to keep your footing as you reel back from your failed assault. It's then that you notice the dark hue of red on the alien's eyes, staring right back at you. Its pace doesn't stop towards Carol however, seemingly ignoring your attempt to hurt it.

'It...couldn't have been aware of me...right?', you try to surmise, and then immediately attack the alien again with enhanced strikes with Erick's sword. Once again, more of those body chips continue flying as your impacts continue hitting the alien. Throughout all of this, you swear you hear a mocking chuckle from the alien's scaly throat.

You don't know how much of this punishment the sword is going to take, as it is deflected time and again by that bony plating that seems to grow to meet your blade's strikes. With less than a few steps towards Carol, you think of a desperate idea. You look for a portion of shattered plating, and then point your sword at the alien.

At the speed you saw this sword activate, its force should be more than enough to pierce the alien's plating. You continue your charge and press the button on the hilt. Yet instead of the sword retracting like you wanted, its blade extends and continues to extend towards the alien. The action almost takes you by surprise as the blade actually manages to wedge itself into the shattered plating and pierces to the other side of the alien's shoulder.

The alien lets out a howl of rage and pain, before your start hearing that familiar whirr. You feel your head start to teleport and waste no time in trying to further damage the alien. Yet, before your eyes leave, you see it reach with its large snout and snap the blade with a single chomp. The remains of your body teleport in mid air, as Erick's hilt teleports with you. You can only hope that it was enough...

Your vision returns, as does the rest of your body, back to Gantz's apartment room. The fluorescent lighting almost burns into your retinas as you adjust your eyes from the previous darkness of the museum. You take notice of the others, standing around the ball and breathing a sigh of relief upon your return. Or at least, everyone besides Dante.

Yukino helps you up as you quickly get off the ground. There's an eerie silence in the room however, before Dante speaks up.

"Paula, what happened to Carol?", he asks, looking at you with a serious expression on his face, "You stopped that thing...right?"

"We'll find out in a few moments", Chris replies, leaning on the wall, "from what you described it though, that thing was-"

"Chris," Allie interrupts him, giving him a deadly stare, "You're going to shut up now. Not another fucking word."

A scoffing "Whatever," leaves Chris as you continue to find the right words for Dante. You tried to save her, with all of your might you really did, yet even you don't know if she made it out. It doesn't matter however, as a whirr from Gantz gives your answer.

<00:01:53>

Everyone's eyes turn to Gantz's screen and the now flashing numbers on it. You can't judge the others expression, yet your own sinks to pure melancholy. A small whimper almost escapes your lips as you look in realization at what just happened. You try to swallow a breath, as you turn back to Dante. His face is one of disbelief which soon turns to a restrained anger.

Whether it is aimed at you, is something you don't know yet.

You don't think, ponder or really try to meditate on your following words. As Dante's expression grew darker, you spoke from instinct and your own emotional center.

"It...knew I was there", you start, struggling a little to explain, "every time I hit it, it just laughed and kept moving closer to her. After I managed to finally stab it though, Gantz just started taking me away."

"W-what are you saying...?", Dante replies, shaking slightly as he spoke, "I thought you were going to slow it down...how could you fail her like...how could we..."

He almost collapses to his knees on the ground, before Kurtis and Tanjeet catch him. You can tell he's holding back tears, though you can't tell if it's anger or strength holding them back. Allie and the twins' faces contort to saddened expressions, while Yukino just holds her head down.

"I'm sorry Dante," you respond as guilt and frustration coil in your chest, "...we've lost so many...goddamnit...and it's all because of this fucking ball!"

You go to kick Gantz, yet your hard roundhouse does nothing to the ball. It doesn't even leave an impression or even tilt it. It just continues to sit inert, with its incredibly ominous silence mocking you and the others. Whatever kind of goal this monstrous thing was created for or whatever purpose it served, you wouldn't have minded if it just broke right then and there.

It's at that point, that you soon hear the sound of tapping on the wall. You and the other turn around to Chris, with a surprisingly serious face on his normally smug expression.

"You're not going to bring them like that", Chris states, not a hint of a mocking tone in his voice, "just let Gantz do its tally and we can talk about feelings later ok? If you're lucky Paula, you might just have enough to bring Erick tonight."

"You know what Chris," Allie quietly hisses, and then approaches him, "why don't you take your pragmatism and-"

Her tirade against him is interrupted by a whirr and another message from Gantz.

<1F U KN0W WH475 600D 4 U D0N7 D0 7H47 4641N>

It was threatening you, or maybe just warning. The gall of this ball was infuriating enough to make you kick it again. Yet, Yukino's presence just managed to hold back your anger.

Dante's only stomps the ground, albeit almost hard enough to cause a dent, and just breathes out in frustration. The restrained look of anger and sadness seems to be leaving his face, replaced by what you can only describe as apathy. A cold stare lingers on the black ball, as no one even dares say anything to Dante.

"I'm sorry as well Paula", he states, in an almost monotone voice, "she was my responsibility first and foremost, and I failed her first."

"Dante, you can't be talking like that-", Kurtis replies, before a cold look from Dante interrupts him.

"I told her to take a long range position", Dante continues, and then violently tosses his X-Rifle against the wall, "but it didn't even fucking matter with that alien. It was all just a load of bullshit..."

The stunned silence is only made worse as Dante just, quietly leaves the group and heads to the hallway. Chris goes in right behind him, and they both dissapear right behind the door.

Your eyes widen at Gantz's disgustingly close verdict. Erick's life was within your reach once more, yet it was only by Gantz's idiotically childish scoring system that you were denied. You felt like crying, like screaming, and then throwing yourself at the ball until broke or gave you back Erick. Yet in those few seconds of astonishment, you could only stare at Gantz's final insult to you for the night.

"Goddamnit...", you growl, as your breathing gets heavier, "this fucking ball. It's all some sort of sick joke to you, ins't it?"

The ball doesn't respond, only lying motionless as you continue your tirade.

"Wasn't enough Erick died", you continue, "now we have to do shit again...What's even the point of any of this to you?!"

"Paula, calm down", Allie says, placing a hand on your shoulder, "as much as I hate to admit it, Chris is right. Getting angry at Gantz it isn't going to bring Erick back."

You just stare at her, yet her sympathetic expression doesn't change. And for a few seconds, you can't help but just stare in a trance of frustration at Allie's comment. It was a childish thing for you to do, yet you couldn't help but just remain in silent defiance of her truth.

"Don't worry Paula", Yukino's voice states, snapping you out of your stupor, "it's just like you said. We'll be here to get him next time, all of us."

"Y-yeah, of course," you answer, breathing in hard to calm your voice, "thank you Yukino, and everyone. We'll get him back, next time for sure."

The Kurtis, Allie and Tanjeet nod in unison, each sharing a similar look of assurance. Tanjeet however twitches a little at your response, like he was worried about something. It perks your attention, and you go to ask him what's wrong but not before Gantz's screen displays the next portion of the scoring process.

In between wondering what he means and staring at Gantz's screen, Tanjeet drops to his knees. Claire and Silvia rush to help him up, but he just slumps down even further. He then stares out in front, a shattered stare in his as he just looks at Gantz without speaking.

"Wait, what are you talking about?", Kurtis says, approaching him, "what were you right about?"

"I suspected something was off when I saw Dante's score" Tanjeet replies, a familiar apathetic tone permeates his voice, "those drones we took down in that exhibit didn't count for anything...I...thought with the number the EMP took out, it might have been enough points to...bring Maria back..."

"Oh god...Tanjeet," Claire responds, and Silvia then adds, "It must only count actual aliens then...stupid fucking ball..."

"No, it was always like this", you interrupt, queuing a glare towards Gantz, "it doesn't seem to care about us or really about the missions. It's only just fixated on that damn game of his."

The small group rant against Gantz is interrupted by a hacking sound from Tanjeet as the twins both ask him what's wrong. This is interrupted by a retch from his throat, as a small torrent of vomit erupts from his mouth. They both immediately back away in disgust, even though it lasts a second.

Kurtis departs from Allie's side immediately and heads towards his side. After hacking up what you can only assume was his dinner, he just slumps on his vomit until Kurtis picks him up. He sits his conscious yet unresponsive body against the wall. It's a sorry sight for someone as helpful as him, only making you hate Gantz even more.

"We'll make do after this", you reply, giving a quick glance back at Erick's sheath, "but you and Kurtis are going to help out as well, since it's something Erick would have wanted. You also still owe me that story on how you managed to escape the first time."

"If that's all, I'll tell you after this", she sighs, then gives you a genuinely thankful look, "Paula, I know I never got to say it enough back at the station but, thank you. Erick...well, he deserves someone like you."

The statement should have made you feel glad, yet you couldn't help but feel a lingering regret in there. It was a compliment or at least a sign of sympathy for your loss, yet it also sounded of regret or even admittance of defeat. You had come to know Allie as someone with an obsession for Erick back at the station, yet you knew it was always more towards her work rather than the actual person.

She was no doubt an unstable mind, yet you were more worried about Erick back then rather and jealousy over this other woman after him. It felt strange to hear that from her, like some sort of secret you weren't supposed to hear. You nevertheless cooled your nerves for a second, and simply thanked her on the assurance.

"That little green bitch was only worth that much?" Silvia says, warily stepping around Tanjeet's vomit, "I don't get this thing's scoring system. What's it even rating it by?"

"I think the better question is", you interject, looking towards her, "why you decided to shoot her in the first place? You do know they were unarmed and negotiating at the time right?"

"W-well", she stammers a little, and then scratches her head, "I was actually just following what Chris did, I didn't really hear much of the talk. I thought it was like a hold-up and we had used them enough."

"What?", you almost exclaim, now moving closer to Silvia, "you seriously think to follow Chris's example of all things? Are you that fucking-"

"Hey, she gave you the reason already Paula", Claire says, joining up next to Silvia, "I was right next to her and I didn't hear anything either out of that rubble. Besides, Chris is really good at the hunt so-"

<Thot 2 - 64 points - Only 18 more points to go! - Small tits, better turnout.>

You notice Claire's eyes go wide, and immediately turn to Gantz's screen to see an unreal amount of points lining up next to her name. It was more than what you had, and more than enough to have get you over 100. That familiar feeling of rage bubbled up inside you again, yet something about this seemed even more suspicious. As you as you turned back to Claire's still stunned face, you were already suspecting what might have happened.

"That alien was incredibly strong" you start, causing everyone including Claire to turn to you, "it wasn't something you just came around and killed with a single shot for sure. But, I'm beginning to wonder on why it gave you that much if you did just that Claire."

"Y-you said it yourself, Paula", Claire stammers as well, "it was a very strong alien, so it would make sense to give more points right...? I mean, I'm sorry...I already apologized for it but-"

"Wait a minute", Yukino says, looking at Claire's hip, "Why don't you have your rifle anymore Claire? Chris mentioned you guys fought that yellow alien, so did you lose it there?"

"Y-yes, I guess I did", Claire stammers again, and then quickly recoils at her statement, "W-wait, no I mean...I-I used Silvia's rifle inst-"

"Stop bullshitting me!", you roar back at her, causing her to flinch, "Did you destroy that gem or not? Answer the question, now Claire."

Claire is frantically trying to avoid your gaze as you managed to almost prove your suspicion. Silvia, in spite of her sister being like this, doesn't say a word, only remaining silent as you continue your deathly stare at Claire. Yet as this continued for a little more than 5 seconds, the hall door opened.

Wait...we can make this work.

We need 2 points, Claire needs 13.

We make damn sure that Claire, Sylvia, and Chris know that we HAVE to prioritize getting Erick, Carol, and Maria back.

That means that we need to prioritize us and claire getting kills/captures. We bring back Erick, Claire can choose either Maria or Carol.
>>

fuck that man, she lied to our face, TO OUR FACE!

she said she had destroyed the gem but she didn't have a weapon, when they disapeared at the end of the hunt she was transporting lapis, she didn't destroy the gem, she stole it, said that she destroyed the gem and then ran away and transported it.

we don't give a chance to that, specially since this means our lives and they made clear they don't give a fuck about the group only themselves, if we help them they will just use us again like they used now

THEY ARE FUCKING DEAD TO US, they can try to get their points by themselves and be made into pieces when Chris decides he needs a bait.

we will not give a single kill to this bitch, she can take them herself, she was with our gem in her hand and lied to us man, we can't be a bitch and let that go

<Chris 'Savage' Bowery - 42 points - Only -34 more points to go! - Glad to have you back.>

"What the fuck is happening out here?", Chris asks, moving to the room along with Dante, "Paula, don't-...what...? It kept my old points...?"

Chris's expression is one of genuine elation and surprise as he stares at Gantz's screen. You almost don't want to turn back, yet curiosity gets the better of you along with everyone else. Yet, at the same time, it almost seemed unreal as you looked on with the others.

<CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS! YOU GOT 100 POINTS! EXTRA MENU UNLOCKED>

<EXTRA MENU>

<1. GET BETTER EQUIPMENT>

<2. REVIVE SOMEONE THAT PREVIOUSLY DIED IN THE GAME>

<3. ERASE YOUR MEMORIES AND LEAVE THE GAME>

"HAHAHA!!", Chris exclaims, almost jumping for joy as he heads towards the Gantz ball, "Oh, you fucking asshat of a black alien ball. I'd hug you if that wasn't so incredibly gay and stupid."

"Wait, what the hell?", Dante says, looking over Chris's result screen, "it keeps your record after you die? This shit is like some fucked up video game to this thing..."

"Hey, who are we to complain" Allie adds, looking over the options for Chris, "he got 100 points, so that means he can revive Erick, right? Chris, go ahead man, do the honors."

"W-wait...what?" Chris says, look at her with an incredulous glance, "You're joking, right? I fought and died once for these points already, and I will used them how I want to."

"What?!" Allie responds, now approaching Chris, "Erick is your leader! Your friends, right?! Doesn't that fucking matter to you?!"

"Hey, back off", he replies, looking back at Allie, "Erick was a baddass, and I respect his strength, but he is not a friend to me. Sorry to say, but if you want Erick back, do it yourselves."

"You...b-", Allie almost curses Chris out, before she turns to you, "Paula, say something! It's not...fair for him to just..."

Yes, let's squander our best chance to get TWO of our team back next game.

Nobody said we're letting it go.

We're USING her to help US get back Carol and Maria.

Once that happens, do what you want with her. But making her our enemy now is shooting ourselves in the foot.

What you want to do is akin to burning your own house down just to lower your neighbor's property value.
>>
>>2786814
>Look at Allie and shake our head. "Maybe Chris might have someone of his own worth bringing back, who knows?" Give Chris a knowing look, hoping on the inside we get lucky and end up right. Then turn, walk up to the Thots, and punch both of them in the face. "THAT'S for killstealing us when we needed the points the most. Please don't do that again next time."

I actually agree with this. Let's not sympathize with them, even if they do want to get Maria back, and use them to our advantage.

Guys, before we go all psycho-bitch....think of ti this way...

If we threaten Chris, he's going to not do it just to spite us.

If we plead with him, he's going to power-trip.

So we ask him, nicely, to consider it.

By letting him know that it is HIS choice, without being sycophantic, we stand a better chance of getting what we want.

Dante's influence may cause him to bring back Carol as well.
>>
>>2786819
no man, what we are doing is stop being idiots and trusting people that cannot be trusted

>>2786814
He's right, he can do whatever he wants whit this points, He and the twins already lied and cheated us to get them, it's not like he will start playing for the group now all of a sudden.

I would offer you something in return for you bringing back Erick, he helped everyone here survive their runs, and if we don't have his powers with us on the next run a lot of people will die, or did you forget all the times he saved our asses just today?, What would you want?

or you could bring back Carol, it's what your brother would do, and he was the one that brought you back...
>>
>>2786848
changing my a little, don't offer anything in return just state how useful Erick is, even for him
>>
>>2786848

Yes, cut the nose off to spite the face. Works every time!

Also, you're acting like the twins KNEW our plans for the stones.

Did we actually ever TELL them the plan for them?

Stop your rage-boner and think.
>>
>>2786863
you think man, we told her we stored the stone on the garbage can, she had the stone with her and she didn't give it to us, did you really understand what she did?

we asked "where is the stone I had here"

she said "I destroyed it" while having the stone in our pocket

we said " you bitch we wanted to use that to bring erick back"

she said "I'm sorry there's nothing I can do" and immediately ran away to transport the stone she lied to us about destroying
>>
>>2786875
Ok two things.

1. We the only ones that knew were Allie and Kurtis who were there when we placed the gem in the trash.

2. Yes, she more than likely lied, but we are not going to resolve anything by going off on someone like you're planning on doing.

If you spite Chris, and the twins, you're only making even bigger enemies when there shouldn't be more.

"Not fair?" Chris gets up from the ball, and then meets Allie's stare, "You think this game if about shit being fair?! Are you fucking-"

"Chris," you interrupt with a shout, earning his attention, "I know those are your points to use as you wish, but please, there are three people who are near and dear to others here in this room Erick, Maria and Carol."

"You can bring one of them back now, but" you continue, causing Chris to raise and eyebrow, "it is your choice. I just ask you to consider bringing one of them back, please."

Everyone just looks at you with an expression of surprise, probably at your restraint but also at your finesse with words. Their gazes soon turn to Chris, who seems to be eyeing you waringly. The silence is almost choking as he thinks on what you said, and gives out a sigh.

"Listen, I'll give it to you straight Paula" he starts, squatting down by the ball again, "this whole, revival thing with your points sounds pointless to me really. We risk our lives for these points, night after night only for someone else to die, so they can get revived, and we can repeat the cycle again when someone else inevitably dies."

"They do that because they care about them" Allie says, glaring at Chris, "Dante cared enough to bring you back, didn't he? Or was that a mistake?"

"We live in America, Allie" he replies, and presses one of the buttons on the screen pad, "Dante is as free as me to make that choice. Don't worry though, I'll let you have one at least next time Paula."

He actually winks at you as he says this, and you almost cringe at his attempt to be friendly. After pressing the button, Chris steps back from Gantz, displaying his choice.

<1. GET BETTER EQUIPMENT>

Allie is almost fuming at his choice, yet you give her a look that calms her down a bit. Yukino and Kurtis share a similar expression of disappointment, yet somewhat understanding. The twins just share nervous glances with Dante, as another message appears on Gantz's screen.

<74K3 600D C4R3 0F 17 U 5CHMUCK>

An opening whirrs open in the top of Gantz, and a large, blocky object emerges from it. Chris wastes no time and heads over to pick it up. He wastes no time in picking it up. The weapon, if you can even call it that, look like two massive black boxes united in their backs with some wires hanging off.

"Doesn't even weigh anything", Chris says, waving it around and then pointing it right at Silvia, "Thing is though, I do agree with Paula on something. I do hate liars as well."

"Chris...?", she says, looking at him with pleading eyes, "what are you doing? Stop joking around, this isn't funny!"

"Is it though?" he replies, then looks at you, "I think it's pretty funny when someone lies and is suddenly caught red-handed. What do you say Paula, should I test it out?"

Everyone's almost in shock at Chris's action, yet the don't dare move should it provoke him. Once again, all eyes fall on you.

"Chris, wait", you request, but he doesn't take his eyes off of Claire, "I agree that she's an idiot and a liar but she doesn't deserve this. I know it's your choice in the end but-"

"Oh, you hear that Claire?", Chris interjects, moving his fingers on the triggers, "She says she wants you to live, but she's giving me the choice in the end. Much more choice than you gave Paula or Erick for that matter."

"W-wait, Chris..." Claire squeaks out, shaking her head, "but you w-were in on it as well...you're as much of-"

"What, because I was with you when you did it?" he interrupts, moving his fingers on the weapon, "sorry, but I don't like dealing with liars. I may be an asshole but I like to be upfront about being an asshole, unlike you."

"P-please...Chris..." Claire sobs, tears now coming out of her eyes, "D-don't do it...I'm begging you please..."

"FESS UP THEN!" he demands, causing Claire to sob harder, "Tell her what you did, so everyone can hear you. And then promise with your life you won't do it again!"

Everyone in the room is without a word as this goes on. Even Silvia is keeping her distance, as her sister continues to shiver in tears. Claire finally looks up, and then stares at you with pleading eyes.

"P-Paula...I took it..." she admits, trying hard to say the words between sobs, "I-I took that b-blue gem...a-and...teleported it....I-I...I just wanted to h-have Maria back...after...we found her like that...she...was our best friend...please don't let him kill me..."

There's almost no reaction from you, besides the worry of what might happen to Claire. Yet the others either look down or continue to hold their breath at the sight. Chris just takes a small chuckle before giving Claire another smirk.

"See what being a nice person earns you Paula?" Chris states, and the lowers the weapon, "nothing but a load of lies and broken trust. But hey, who really cares in the end, so long as they're getting something or someone out of it, right?"

Chris moves towards the hallway, stepping in between the two now terrified twins and leaving a wake of silence as he goes. As soon as the doors on the hall close, Claire and Silvia both almost crawl on their knees to you, not even bothering to avoid the drying vomit on the floor. Claire's wailing voice is only intersected by Silvia's shortened breaths.

"T-thank...y-you...P-Paula...", Claire says, ad infinitum while Silvia tries to follow up, "I promise to not not let her do that again. Or me for that matter, I don't want us to fight like that again..."

"Jesus fucking Christ" Allie exclaims, shaking her head, "those two are idiots but...that guy is a fucking psycho. How the fuck do even live with him Dante?"

"It's complicated", he sighs, then looks at you, "thank you Paula...I didn't really know what to do for once. I'll go talk to him, and try to figure out where we go from here."

+1 Trust <Claire & Silvia Rosch>

These two were never on a measure of true respect from you. Claire and Silvia were both different variations on the preppy college party girl you'd seen and been around before. They were friendly and even kind in their own way, but never really showed good judgment when it mattered. To see them as pathetic as they were now, only really sold that point home to you.

"Get your last 18 points" you state, pulling Claire's head away from your legs, "and revive Maria next time. Then, MAYBE I'll forgive you."

Claire doesn't hesitate to start nodding her head in your hand like a happy puppy. You let her go, and then turn your head to Silvia.

"This is as much your fault as it is your sister's", you start, earning a saddened nod from her, "I get why you did it, but splitting points like this will only make getting to 100 harder. Please, try to remember that for next time."

"Right...I'm...sorry Paula", she replies, then gives a quick glance to her sister, "I know it doesn't mean much...but I think we'll take cleanup duty tonight. There's...a lot of clothes that...need to be sorted..."

Silvia nods with Claire, and they head in silence towards the hall to sort out some of the leftover clothes. Given what they've done however, you feel that community service like this is probably not hard enough on them. You don't go to stop them though, as you then feel a tug on your leg.

"You're not going to forgive them?", Yukino asks, and you take a small breath before shaking your head, "They admitted it...and they said they'd never do it again..."

"There are times Yukino..." you answer, sighing a little, "when people have to make up for something they do. It's called earning back trust, and they have a lot of earning to do for what they did."

"I remember dad saying something like that" she replies, and then looks inquisitively at the door, "You can't really value the things you're given, only what you earn. But...I think if you gave us Erick back, I'd value him all the same..."

You want to give a smile to Yukino, yet you know reassurance isn't your strong suit with this game. Instead, you just give her a hug, and tell her that 'Next time, for sure'. She eventually pulls away from you, and goes to see Tanjeet who seems to be recovering a bit from his depressed stupor. Allie and Kurtis behind the ball, seemingly having some discussion about living spaces. Though, you're still curious about what's happening with Dante and Chris.

Your mind tells you that you should be trying to make the best of the situation, yet...you know full well that you aren't really in a good mindset to speak with anyone at the moment. You'd been holding back so much the moment you saw Erick die, that anymore interaction could set you off. They had known you as a cool-headed and strong woman, but you knew well that your appearance was more for their sake than your own at the moment.

You head over to the hallway, grabbing your dufflebag from the wall and moving past the door. Therein, you don't see neither Chris or Dante, but spot the twins arranging the remaining portions of clothes. Though, you can tell they're looking for something among the piles. They turn to you as they come in, but only Silvia speaks up.

"Paula, we got your police clothes here", she says, handing you the uniform and its amenities, "Also...we can't find everyone who...died's clothes. You don't think it's because Gantz...got rid of it, right...?"

"Don't know", you simply state, and then motion the two out of the room, "but right now I need to get changed. Out of this room, please."

They both nod their heads in agreement, and quickly make their way out of the hallway, closing the door behind themselves. You give the door one more glance, before you start undressing out of the suit. Yet, as the strands of fabric fell to your feet, it brought back memories of that first night. It was a stupid occurrence for that wardrobe malfunction to happen, and even stupider for Erick to come in, but you couldn't help to smile in melancholy at it.

'Change, call a cab, and have the others find their own way back home', you told yourself, as you started on your uniform, 'leave Yukino at her place of course. I wonder...if he finished unpacking...'

Throughout your change of clothes, the commotion in the room seems to be growing larger. You can't really make it out, though you honestly don't try to. By the time you finish putting on your jacket, an unlocking sound from the outside door prompts Dante and Chris back to the hallway.

"Shit...sorry Paula", Dante says, upon realizing that he almost walked in on you, ".w-well, anyways, Chris and I were talking and I think we should make something clear to everyone in the team. Though, I still think we shouldn't..."

"They deserve to know", Chris replies, then looks at you, "unless Erick's already told you about the timer? Either way, he never said I couldn't show them what it's all about."

You did remember him mentioning a timer of sorts, along with something about the end of the world tied to it as well. It wasn't something you'd really thought on, given that it just seemed like another one of Gantz's ruses. Though, considering Erick's stance on the whole idea, it honestly made you skeptical.

Chris is going to rob everyone of hope I think, and will probably try to convince them to not bring anyone back

But still, erick's psy is more valuable then any weapon gantz has to offer

"Erick's already told me about it" you state, then heading back into the room with them, "but, I think I'd like to judge it with my own eyes."

Upon entering again, you notice the room is surprisingly calm as compared to the commotion you heard earlier. Allie and Kurtis are looking at something on the ball, and trying to fiddle around with probably getting it opened. The twins are sitting in the back corner and trying to get as far away from Chris as they can. Tanjeet appears to have fallen asleep, with Yukino merely sitting next to him and holding onto Erick's dufflebag, though you can tell there's nothing inside it.

Chris quickly makes his way to the middle of the room and then looks down at Gantz. Allie and Kurtis give him a wary look before you give them a smiling nod to let them know 'it's ok'. The back away from the ball and Chris, joining you and Dante near the center. Chris gets one of those sick little smirks of his before he addresses the others.

"There's something really funny about this game you know", he starts, that grin not fading from his face, "and that's the fact that it seems like we'll never get out until we get our 100 or die. Though, about a month ago, I discovered something that may very well change that."

"Gantz" Chris shouts, turning his body towards Gantz, "I want to see it again. Show it to me, now."

Everyone stands in stunned silence Gantz's screen turns on again.

<D0 17 UR53LF 5CHMUCK>

"What?", Chris replies, and almost flinches back as Gantz opens up again, "whatever, you stupid ass ball."

Chris leans over to the right side of the ball, and you and the others lean in to see what he's doing. You see him fiddling with something inside that ball, or rather someone. From the corner of your eye, you see his pinkie finger enter the ear canal of that strange bald child in the ball, followed by a click going off. Chris motions for you and the others to step back, as Gantz's screen reveals another message.

<91 Days : 03 Hours : 24 Min : 42 Seconds>

Just like Erick mentioned, it was indeed a countdown showing days to seconds and everything in between.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you" Chris aggrandizes, leaning slightly on the Gantz, "the countdown to the end of the FUCKING world."

Everyone's eyes either widen in surprise or disbelief at Chris's statement. Yet all of the them are looking directly at that descending timer and probably speculate on what happens when it reaches 0. Everyone, except you and Allie.

"Wait, what do you mean end of the world" Allie asks, furrowing her brow, "Is that ball going to do it or- Actually how the hell do you even know what's going to happen?"

"That's the thing, I don't" Chris replies, some people shifting their gaze at him, "All I know is that, this countdown is going to reach 0 at some point, and something is going to happen at the end of it. Though, I doubt it will be anything good considering Gantz is in control here."

It certainly won't be any good. And I want to be prepared for it when it happens.

I was going to tell you this later, but starting tomorrow I'm going to train every day(?), I'm going to learn and use these tools and I'm going to kill any goddamn alien that tries to hurt us, I'll bring Erick back and he won't need to do it all by himself again, I'll be there and I'll be strong.

Whatever happens, we survive, get ready

OOC: I'm drunk with sleep but can't help posting, tomorrow I'll take a look on how this went, if you guys want to change anything or see some parts feel free, if you think it's dumb tell me and I may change votes too. Don't really know what to say.

but also
>(thoughtful murmur) Could it have something to do with the aliens? Why Gantz is making us go through all this...?

Geez that is like...less then three months.

It probably is not good. Has anyone tried asking it?
>>
>>2791766
It's quite a bit of time to get ready honestly. It only passed a month or so since we got in the game so this just gives us more time if anything.

'Could it have something to do with the aliens...?', you think, while listening in to Chris, 'Why make us go through all of this...? If anything is likely, whatever happens with that timer...."

"It probably wouldn't be any good", you add, glancing at Allie and then back to Chris, "have you or anyone else tried to communicate with it?"

"Hehe, yeah why don't we do that?", Chris chuckles at your question, and then turns to Gantz, "Yo Gantz, what DOES that timer mean?"

The ball remains motionless, continues to display the timer and Chris turns back to you.

"Yeah, it just ignores if you ask it that", Chris continues, then leans on Gantz again, "Though, I agree in that it would be really bad Paula, when that timer hits 0 that is. Honestly though, I'm not going to lose my brain over it trying to think about it."

"You said the world was going to end though", Yukino responds, earning a raised eyebrow from Chris, "doesn't that mean you're in big danger as well? Why doesn't any of this bother you?"

"Because", Chris exhales, looking right at Yukino, "there's no point in trying to make sense of any of this if you're going to just die the next time we come here. Why stress yourself out over something that's going to happen anyways?"

"The way I see it", Chris finishes, pushing himself off the ball, "we should at least make the best of this whole shit deal with Gantz. I don't know about you guys, but these hunts were the best thing to happen in my fucking life."

Chris doesn't wait for a response before moving out of the room and back to the hallway. Dante doesn't go with him, and just stands alongside the odd and worried looks everyone is now shooting at his step brother. Your look is the first to fall however, as it lands on Gantz's screen again, and the ticking clock.

Gantz, the game, the aliens, the constant death in every mission you'd run in was something that seemed out of a recurring nightmare. Yet, it only seemed like a nightmare because it never truly seemed to affect the real world all that much. There was collateral damage, sure, but nothing that brought that now growing itch in the back of your neck. The timer, coupled with the return of those other aliens, only seemed unnerve you even more.

"We need to be prepared for when it happens" you blurt out, and then feel everyone's gaze on you, "We need to train, starting tomorrow, harder than ever before. Erick's not with us anymore, so we need to take care of ourselves until we get him back."

"But until then", you continue, turning around to face the others, "I'm going to learn and use these tools and kill every goddamn alien that ball puts against us. So that next time, he won't have to do it himself again, because we'll be there with him, as strong as him."

Everyone's attention is on you perfectly. You were not an inspirational speaker, but for Erick's sake you would do the impossible.

"Whatever happens, we survive. Now, get ready."

<Session End>
>>
Alright guys, that's about it for this session.

The episode will continue, but not this week as I am heading to Otakon in DC tomorrow and won't be back until Monday of next week. I will try and see if I can update on Wednesday or Thursday of next week so we can get a head start and have our good sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

I will archive in a few moments, but stay tuned to twitter and the paste-bin as I will updated you with the important choices and outcomes for this session as we promised. I will also include the other paths for the previous hunts as well there, so be sure to check them out.

Thank you for sticking with me on this one friends.

Have a good evening /qst/.
