Welcome back shoppers, to Magical Girl for Hire Quest! (Woo, this may have been a bad idea, my time is still very limited...)

When last we left off, we'd gotten back to The Intersection, and learned that there were some kids that were insane enough to actually like us enough to want to see more of our life. So we plus Izumi decided to drop by the Care House and formally accept the charge of taking 3 kids 'under our wing' a bit, so to speak, and give them a more in-depth look at Outgoer work.

And right now...thank goodness for mass transportation.

Thank goodness for for mass transportation. The trip had been relatively easy, although you’d had to leave your bikes behind. Presently, you’d headed to a furniture store called Sweet Dreams- although they had more than beds, of course, beds were what you needed to get the most. At least, something temporary. You don’t have a ton of space in your apartment, but you’ve got enough space in the living room and your bedroom combined to house three kids, so long as you push your bed to the corner. The one time your smaller size comes in handy.

Like heck they’re sleeping in your bed, though. The other plus was that thanks to their tech setup, they could transport the things right to your doorstep, basically.

It’s going through the aisles trying to pick out two beds (you figure the girls will share one, the boy gets his own) that Noran speaks up. “Y’know, we ain’t gotta have a bed. At least not me and Mew. We like sleeping on the floor, honestly!”

That gives you pause, as you and the rest of your group look at him with some surprise. “Do they not have a bed for you?” You ask with some surprise. Back as you recall, they had pretty decent dorm rooms, so to hear that…

“No, no, I- we got a bed!” he quickly explains, to a sigh of relief from Izumi. “I just...don’t like it sometimes. Floor’s just hard an’ fuzzy enough that it kinda reminds me of...before. Jus’ a little, when it was me and Mewla just on our own. Feels nice.”

“Ohhhh,” the other two girls quickly nod, understanding. As you figure it...

>Well...if he doesn’t really want a bed, then at least get him some sheets. He’s got to appreciate THOSE, if nothing else.
>This kid really needs to learn to appreciate what he’s got now, and not what he’s missing. Something EXTRA comfy for him.
>Wouldn’t feel right just sitting him on the floor. Maybe just get him a smaller setup, something cheap, but still usable.

>Wouldn’t feel right just sitting him on the floor. Maybe just get him a smaller setup, something cheap, but still usable.
Check up on some of the firmer mattress options, maybe it’ll feel comfortable enough for him. If he’s still hesitant, see about a bedroll for him.

Also, does Mewla need a bed as well?
>>
>>2767699
Mewla's about as big as a thumb.

...There's actually beds for individuals her size, but when you start to ask, it seems like she's adamantly against one herself.
>>
>>2767718
No worries about Noran rolling on top of her, or is she like one of Hero Shrews that can survive being stepped on?

If she still says no to a bed, then she at least needs some sheets and a pillow.

Also... I hate to bring it up, but is she wearing anything, or is she a proponent of birthday suits? Hell, is she even shaped like a person or is she just a floating ball of light with wings like Navi?
>>
>>2767668
>>Wouldn’t feel right just sitting him on the floor. Maybe just get him a smaller setup, something cheap, but still usable.
This is the moment i realize the caretaker cajoled us into basically adopting 3&1/2 kids.
>>
>>2767795
When you ask about it, he just says, "She just sleeps near me. Likes to keep an eye out."

You have to squint to see past the light, but it does look like she's got a person shaped body. There's little faint wisps of...something coming off of her, and you can only presume that's modesty cloth.

Either way, we'll just get him something simple. Writing.
>>
>>2767668
I mean, we could just ask if the sheets are okay, if beds arent his thing.

It’s not the best idea, but it wouldn’t feel right just sitting him on the floor. Maybe just get him a smaller setup, something cheap, but still usable. Either that, or… “Are you at least okay with sheets? I don’t want you going without entirely.”

“Well…” he’s looking far too bashful about something he really shouldn’t. “I DO like pillows. An’ being able to cover up…” Sheets it is, then.

“Ith weird,” Harpsicorie (whom you’re mentally just calling Harp now because that’s a mouthful) says easily. “I never wathhhh able to sleep in flat bethsssss…but they gave me a really nithhhe pit to thhhleep in! It wath pretty comfy!” Izumi looks like she wants to say something about that- and for a moment you do, too, until the both of you look at her happy face, and remember that for her that pit probably WAS pretty comfortable, considering her long tail.

“Don’t sound much like it was the pits for you!” Tami (or rather the puppet) bleats out, a shit-eating grin on her face.

The resulting silence just makes her break into giggles. It wasn’t even that funny!

“Moving on…” you decide, and before long you’ve picked out some nice, soft sheets for Noran (and a smaller set for Mewla), a deep, curling ‘pit bed’ for Harp, and a normal, soft bed for Tami. All child sized- two should fit into your living room, one of them could fit into your room. The whole lot, gathered, costs about 1.5 Large Motes. Quality, unfortunately, is expensive, even if you have a bit of cash to burn. That, and the transportation DOES cost money.

>Current Motes: 76.10 Large Motes.

With that settled, maybe you can get back and-

“Can we get ice-cream?!” Tami suddenly shouts/asks. No puppet for that one.

“What? No, ice-cream hurts!” Harp recoils. “It’s too cold.”

“You don’t have to get any,” Tami rebuts. “And my head’s all fluff, so it doesn’t hurt me!”

“Well...I want meat, then!” Harp says, looking at you pleadingly. “Barbeque!”

“Ehh, I’m more of a salad and fruit guy, myself…” Noran says. Mewla seemingly agrees, bobbing up and down.

“My my,” Izumi says tauntingly; her hand certainly isn’t trying to hide a smirk, nosiree. “You’ve quite the conundrum on your hands…”

...Screw you, Izumi.

> “Then how about YOU help out, and take one or two? I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem, would it?”
> “Well, we could just stop at all three places…” It’d take up a lot of time, though, considering you’d have to take public transport everywhere…
> “I’m only stopping at one place, the (ice cream store, since she asked first/barbeque place, since I know a good one/salad place, since it’s cheapest)

Well, while you can understand their hunger pangs...you’re not about to start playing favorites so soon. Nor are you going to waste your money on getting something specific for all of them- at least not when you have a perfectly viable set of solutions already in your fridge. “I have food at home,” you announce briskly.

“Awwwwwww!” The chorus of sadness that comes from them could almost be rehearsed, and you’re almost mildly impressed.

“Hey, lesson one of being an Outgoer- you learn to make due with what you have. Even if it’s just beans and water.” Sadly true, fortunately not quite that common.

“We’re eating BEANS AND WATER?!” Yikes, the lungs on this sheep…

...but, fortunately, her worries are unfounded, and you quickly wave her (and the other two, who are starting to look worried) down. “No, relax. I’ve got more than that, and I tend to buy in bulk.” With the fridge you had, things kept for quite a while, making it make more sense than not to do so. Although maybe you should get an upgrade...you wouldn’t mind having one of those stylish ones with the variable drink dispensers…

“Ohhh…you can cook? Yeah, I guess that makes sense…” she calms down, and Noran nods in an understanding manner.

“I got used ta mushrooms, myself. Don’t like ‘em, but Mewla does. Don’t compare to the time I hadta eat moss once, though!” He says it proudly, like it’s a badge of honor.

“Eeewww…” Harp shudders. “I’ve never had to eat sssssomething like that.”

“Once ate a slug onna dare!” Tami grins. “Wasn’t good, but it tickled goin’ down!”

The little gasp Harp makes and the shudder she gives makes you think you miiiiight need to step in before any appetites get ruined. “Okay, okay, let’s go. Now where’s the bus…”

Izumi ends up going back before you all, while you’ll just have to figure out a way to collect Red later. Maybe send Izumi and Lorelei back for it…

Before too much longer, though, you’re back, stepping off the bus and taking you straight for the complex. “And here we are. Home sweet home.”

“...S’kinda small, huh?” Tami says blithly. “I thought Outgoers all had really nice stuff and had lotsa money.”

“Yeah...I mean, I guess it’s cozy…” Noran says quietly.

...Ugh, you never DID look into getting a better apartment. Guess this one really did grow on you. “It’ll work. Lesson 2: you’re not always going to have five-star accomodations. I keep the place tidy, though. C’mon, hup, hup, hup.” You make to herd the trio up to your door, but it’s hardly three steps before-

“CEASE! RETURN THOSE GARMENTS AT ONCE!” A metallic, girlish voice breaks the relative calm, as a loud thunking suddenly starts getting closer and closer to you. You can already guess, but…

“T’AINT YOURS IN THE FIRST PLACE! YOU’S THE ONE WHAT NICKED ‘EM FROM THE CLOSET!” Yeah, that’s Lorelei’s bots coming around the corner- the big one, whom you vaguely recall- Jago, that’s it- is running like his life depended on it, with a large, wide-brimmed hat in one of his hands, and a pair of shoes in the other. The smaller one- Prima, is not at all far behind, having been the source of the yelling.

“YOUR PROCESSING IS IN ERROR! I WAS PERMITTED!” is the venomous response as Jago blows past you and the kids with a brief ‘scuse me!’ and a quick move that has him vault over Harp’s tail. Prima, on the other hand, sees your group, stopping briefly to bow. “I beg your pardon, but as you are a friend of Ms. Lorelei’s, could you help me get those garments back? She’ll be cross if they…”

“Don’t worry!” To your surprise, it’s Noran who pipes up first. “We’ll get ‘em for ya!” You blink, looking at him in muted surprise, and he has the grace to blush. “Uh, I mean…”

“We could try, sure!” Tami chimes in, her puppet in hand now. “He can’t hide!” she says with the rougher bull voice.

Harp just looks past them all at the direction Jago went in- seems he started to take a lap around the complex. “Uhhhhhh…”

You start to say something- but then a small thought, unbidden, flits through your head. Maybe…but...

> “...Alright. Consider this a simple example of what it’s like. Search and retrieval. You’ve got an hour, no going off the premises.”

To elaborate, that's kinda why Im glad they came with us in the first place. She's proven that she's horrible with responsibility towards anyone except maybe herself, and I'm wondering if that can change.

Or not, I want Jago discovering stripperbots and that funny feeling that it causes in his cpu core. Prima is already being taught dirty dancing.

Considering Lori accidentally, magically, granted them free will, we still need to have a talk with the local robots group, see if they have any insights on the whole thing, and for basics of maintenance, parts, power, and such.

Yeah I'm with this. There must be robot support networks or something that can teach them the whole free will thing from a better perspective.

We put Lori in therapy because she's so outta whack she not only had an out of body experience but she became a body snatcher. Good luck convincing Prima that Lori is a bad person to take life advice from
>>
>>2778428
Like, I can see the point about Lori being a little unhinged, but if there's anyplace in existance which would accommodate that it's the intersection. I think letting the 'bots be for the time being would probably be better for them developmentally in the long run. Even being robots doesn't mean they NEED to learn about it from other robots, we should leave them be unless they express an interest in that.

The more you think about it, the more the idea appeals. Just seeing what their mindset is couldn’t hurt anything, right? “Alright, then. Consider this a simple example of what it’s like. Search and retrieval. You’ve got an hour, no going off the premises. You get back to me once you’ve retrieved the objects, understand?” You try to put on your ‘serious’ voice for this, even though...a hat and shoes? Really?

The kids seem to think it serious enough, with the lot of them saluting almost as one- even if Harp looked nervous as all getout. “Yes ma’am!”

“Then get going.” With little more word, the trio run off in the direction they saw Jago with his cargo last.

...no, seriously, what IS with that? “Prima?” you turn to the bot in question. “Please. What’s going on?”

“I was informed by Ms. Lorelei that I was permitted to utilize any clothing or accessories in her storage!” Prima says confidently. “I thus searched all areas of clothing containment until I found something to my liking! Jago is unfortunately under the incorrect calculation that I withdrew these articles without permission, and thus his stopping me is a noble act! I informed him of this prior to his absconding with the articles!”

Hm. Curious. Did he really just take them from her on a whim? ...Well, you’ll have to sort that out later after the clothes are returned. And on that topic…

You’ve done enough search and retrievals yourself, but all things considered...probably best to find the thing and let him know what’s happening. AND get some answers.

Jogging off, yourself, you let a small grin on your face. Not like you’d be letting 3 kids show you up, after all.

---------
Fortunately, it seems like Jago’s not exactly keen on going exceptionally far without knowing the lay of the land very well- you wind up finding him a few buildings away; still on the complex, but in a completely different area than where you or your cohorts live.

...Oh, yeah. There’s a swimming pool here. And a jacuzzi. Forgot about that. Seems like a lot of other folks did, too, judging from the tarp covering it. A gym, too, but you’ve no real need for that. You can see him- just barely, peeking out the window in an attempt to make sure Prima’s lost him, no doubt.

No sign of the kids, either. Good. Means you’ve got time to talk.

Sure enough, when you open the door, he quickly looks to you- there’s not a ton of room for expression on his face, but- “Ah, good on ya! Think ya kin help a bloke out? Prima went an’ tried ta nick these from the lass’s private stash, an’ she ain’t takin’ no fer an answer!”

cont.
>>
>>2781149
Hm? “Private stash?” you ask, eyebrow raising.

He nods fiercely. “Yeah! She tol’ me that ‘every girl’s got somethin’ ta wear fer emergencies tucked away’, and this was up inside ‘er closet, in a lil’ box! Figured t’weren’t Prima’s place ta take it, but she kicked up a fuss, an’ ‘ere I am!”

...Huh. That’s...a bit confusing. “Well, we’ll figure it out later, but for now, just wanted to let you know. There’s a few kids coming after you as part of a test. Don’t get too rough with them, okay? You do that and I’ll see about fixing this whole mess myself.” Not that you wanted to, but if it helped sweeten the deal…

“Done! So I should jus’ mill about, then? Easy ‘nuff!” Well. That part was easy, at least.

As you head out, you find yourself wondering if that jacuzzi is any good...but then thumping feet and shouts suddenly alert you, as well as some very familiar voices.

Huh. Not bad time, if they’ve gotten this close.

You’re quick to duck around the corner, where you see Noran and Tami cheerfully leading along what seems to be a reluctant (and bit scuffed up?) Harpsicorie who’s constantly got her head on a swivel. “Don’t worry! I doubt there’s gonna be any more bushes you need to look through!”

“B-b-b-but it’ssssss not jussssst the bushessss…” Harp complains sullenly as she lets herself get dragged along. “It’sssss the pipesss. And the dark placessss…’caussse he was ssssmall, right?”

“Exactly!” Tami claps her on the back, causing her to flinch in slight pain- not that Tami seems to notice. “You’re like, the BEST for being sneaky and looking for places! Noran asked that lady, and she said she saw a bot come through this way not a few minutes ago, so we just need to look for clues here! I bet it’s not far! We’ll pass this test yet!”

“B-but you haven’t done anything…” Harp mutters.

“I’m keeping everyone in good spirits! That’s important!” She seems entirely unbothered by her relative uselessness, if she really believes that. Not sure whether that’s good or bad.

“Well, I can see a couplea places we can- wait a tic!” Suddenly Noran points. “Think I saw a flash ‘a blue in that old gym!”

“That might be him!” Tami cheers. “Charge!”

“Oh no but wait!” Harp tries to shout, buuuut...yeah Tami’s already inside. “Aha! Found you- hey! YIPE!” There’s a small clattering sound, and quickly the other two give chase as Jago seemingly flies out of the doorway, a massive leap taking him right in front of Harpsicorie, who gives a shriek of alarm, and-

-wraps him up in her tail in a panic? Her eyes are glued shut, and she’s shivering, and you’re absolutely positive that she’s got no real grip by how loose that tail is, but…

...not bad.

cont.
>>
>>2781169
You’re quick to return to Prima as they puzzle that out, and she’s rather relieved when you let her know that Jago’s been caught.

“And what, may I ask, will be his punishment?” Ah. That. All things considered...this wasn’t that big a deal.

“That’ll be discussed between me and Lorelei,” you figure. He shouldn’t have stolen it in the first place...but then again, it’s just a hat and some shoes. Wasn’t even anything particularly private. “All things considered, we’ll be being fair about it. Alright?”

“Ah. Very well. I suppose that will suffice, then!” At least she’s not mad about you not taking things into your own hands. “I trust that together you will come up with something suitable. Ms. Lorelei should be back in approximately...45 minutes. I believe she is attending some type of counseling, as she has informed me helps with her mental acuity.”

Huh. She spilled that? Guess she really trusts the bot. “Makes sense.”

There’s...a bit of an awkward silence for a minute. The kids must be still be trying to get Jago back here, and she’s just...kinda...standing there. Alright, so, what to say-

“Pardon me, but I just had a thought.” Oh, phew. You were getting kinda worried for a minute, there. “If I might ask, while Ms. Lorelei has informed me of this area’s rules, and understand I’ll need to work hard, precisely what IS it I will be tasked with? As I was informed, you are the commanding officer of this mercenary unit, correct?”

You purse your lips- the thought still feels kinda weird, but...heck, not like you haven’t been trying to make it work, especially recently. “S’right. What ARE you good at, again?” It’d slipped your mind, really…

“Well, I was built with knowledge on a wide variety of electronic systems, and my primary purpose as I was...before...was to be in a supporting role in a combat situation through analysis and subversion of the opponent’s capabilities. I do have close combat capabilities, but most optimally, I believe I’m what most would call a ‘hacker’, due to my various programs and subroutines optimized for identifying various non-native systems both wirelessly and not, as well as algorithms for deciphering codebases, and allowing me to control said programs.” A bit of a long-winded way to put it, but okay, then. Makes sense. “I am also capable of diagnosing a number of human injuries, and in an emergency situation, I am trained in first aid- provided I have access to the correct tools and medicines, of course.” Well. Never a bad thing to have a medic on-hand as well…

“Sounds like that pretty much answers it, really,” you admit. “Probably end up tagging along with us on any mission that’s got reasonable amounts of tech involved.” She’d probably need some program updates or changes or the sort to make sure she’s multi-versally compatible, but you’re pretty sure you can find something...somewhere. You don’t usually deal a lot with robotics in general, admittedly. Nooot your most knowledgeable area. You’re pretty sure there’s SOMETHING in the Crafter’s District, though…

cont.

“Miss Styles! We got him!” Oh, huh. Well lookit that. Seems like they all just decided to haul him back physically...and by ‘they all’, you mean ‘had Harpsicorie pull him along while Noran lifted a bit and Tami kept an eye on things.’ It’d be good...if his wrists weren’t unbound, just dangling there, his voice area completely uncovered, heck, the fact that they have Harpsicorie just squeezing him and nothing else...

Gah. Then again...they’re just kids. Not that that should mean that much here, but still. Heck, they’re not even Outgoers yet.

“So, whaddya think? Caught him pretty quick, I think!” Tami boasts.

Don't want to make it seem like a free ride else they might make life decisions based on false information. But don't go hard on them either. We are supposed to be helping them learn what it is to be an outgoer, so let's do that.

Those girls we were training as Madame somethingalien? Good times, always fun to be the villian.
>>
>>2787945
I'm pretty sure anon means the girls from the first thread. They wanted to beat Miranda's boss to save her when we went to gather the monthly(?) payment in a later thread.
>>
>>2787960
Yeah, those one. i loved the contrast they had compared to miranda. And things might get funny if she takes the kids to collect the money with her.
>>
>>2788059
What a fucking nightmare that would be. One day these kids will have driven Miranda to exhaustion that she actually thinks it might be a good idea...
>>
>>2788720
I have no idea how that would play out but I want to know.

On that topic, though, thinking about it, kids are seriously indoctrinated into the 'money at all costs' mindset in the intersection. It's kinda fucked up when you think about it too hard. I mean fuck. we know a 10 or so year old that works at the library because they need to make money. There's probably 8 year olds running around having to worry about getting enough work hours this week.
>>
>>2789666
but aren't we in the real world, too? There are children in the streets selling candy, cleaning your car's front window and whatnot. The real difference is that in the intersection they try to get you back on your feet again (since they have only thrown out one people into the Overvoid in more or less a century) while here they leave you to rot and die. Honestly, the Intersection sounds way better than here.

There’s a number of possible responses that come to your lips, but the one that escapes is something even, less praising or disparaging. “Hm. Not bad for your first time.”

“Yessss!” Tami pumps her fist like she did something amazing.

“...not great, though.” - and just like that the wind is taken out of her sails, almost visibly deflating. Noran and Harpsicorie both seem to accept the decision, although Mewla’s buzzing about makes it seem like there’s one particularly annoyed party. “Still, there’s potential there, I think. Let me take those…” you quickly nab the accessories from Jago’s grip, holding on to them. “Now, help me get these inside and we’ll talk further after food. Prima?” You turn to the bot in question, who seems like she’s expecting you to give the accessories back. “You can have these back for now, but like I said, I’ll be talking to Lorelei later, okay?”

“Of course!” Frankly, she seems like she’s more happy to get the stuff back than anything else, now. “Have a pleasant time!” And off she goes- back to Lorelei’s place, it seems. Right. Now to move this three in…

...AND cook. Right.

Fortunately, moving them in isn’t too big of a hassle- although you have to do some fancy maneuvering to get one of the beds through the door, and you have to move your couch far off to the side. However… There’s room for two, but not three. There IS room in your bedroom, though…

You can’t help but let a shiver run through you. At least it would only be for a couple of days at a time...

Anyway, after some debate, you eventually decide on:

>Tami being your roommate, as she seems to be particularly interested in hearing about your exploits, annoying as it may be.
>Noran and Mewla, as they seem like they’d take up the least extra space and are (somewhat) the most polite.
>Harpsicorie, since she’s the quietest and the girl seems like she’s in real need of a pep talk about this whole thing.

Would you believe my computer crashed like 5 seconds after I posted I'd be writing? Ugh.

“Harpsicorie?” She jumps a bit at her name being called, having been busy looking over your (admittedly sparse) lodgings after getting the bedding in. “You’re going to be in my room. Do you snore?”

“Oh! U-uh, I mean, I don’t think thhhhhso…?” Good enough. You nod and proceed to get her bed (which is really more like a giant basket with bedding), with her through the small hallway. Your bed’s already against the wall, so there’s no need to move it, thank goodness. She ends up on the adjacent wall. “I’ll do my bethhhhhh to not be a bother…” Huh. Her lisp gets thicker or thinner sometimes. Weird.

“You’ll be fine. Anyway, let’s get some food.” And with little further fanfare, you set out to do just that. It’s not all that quick, but you’ve already got the stuff for a nice caprese salad with some strawberries on the side, and there’s some ribs you’ve never managed to bother with...although what animal ribs, you’ve honestly forgotten- forgot to label it and never got around to it. Well...it cooks about the same, at least. And you always have ice cream around, even if you don’t eat it much yourself.

It’s probably more for Lorelei these days, if you’re being honest.

Dinner is...not entirely quiet. Seems like the kids are busy with a ton of questions about your lifestyle around the Intersection. After a few minutes of relatively benign Q&A, it’s Tami who asks the big one.

“So, what are we gonna do when we’re here? And are we ever gonna get to go on a job thing with you?” Geez, she seems excited. An excellent question, though.

> No way. Not until they’re out the House. You’re not risking them like that, and this is just to understand the job a bit better.
> Maybe a milk run- one that’d be benign...but you’d have to get permissions, you think. Might do them good to have a first hand view.
> No time, because whenever you’ve got them, you’re gonna drill them. Nothing torturous, but you’re not gonna be soft on them.

Lets take them when we collect money from the flower scouts!
>>
>>2791838
While it would be a milk run, it isn't really representative of Outgoer work. It's more Courier work.
>>
>>2791844
I mean, considering our wards are literal kids, we have already dealt before with the scouts(and they aren't that threatening either) and this would be their first real contact with an outsider's work, its a perfect choice.

On the mean time it should also allow us to find a well paying job that is harmless enough for us to take the kids.
>>
>>2791852
>first real contact with an outsider's work
>outsider's work
That's the problem. It isn't outgoer work, it's courier work. And we're only looking at /a/ milk run at the moment. We should get as much mileage out of their trip Outside as we can.
It would be amusing to watch the kids and the flowers interact, but now that the flowers are pacified, the 'job' is beam in, talk to lead girl, collect payment, beam out.

Hmm...well, you always preferred learning by doing- even back then, not that you’re going to go down THAT road again. Experience is the best teacher, in your opinion, but then again...these ARE little kids. Maybe… “Might see fit to bring you lot on something easy. Maybe a simple fetch job.” She and the rest of them are about to cheer, before a raised finger from you stops it. “BUT. I have to make sure everything’s above board, first, so don’t go thinking it’s a sure thing. Not to mention you’re going to get SOME training before even going out, so be patient! There's no reason for you to be making any stupid mistakes.”

“Alright!” They seem to be galvanized after that, but for the most part, dinner ends well enough…aaaand they’ll need to prepare for bed. Seems like they’ve got the basics, at least. Tiny little tote bags you didn’t really register. Ah well. So, after that...

...Well, that’s kind of the big issue, isn’t it? You’re not going to have a ton of time with these kids at a time...so the question here is what to do with them while you have them for now. You could keep things more about history and tales and more a general tour of the Outgoer District. Maybe introduce them to folks. Or maybe you could show off more of the Training Clinic, that might keep them busy. You gave the lot of them a bit of an overview the one day, but there’s waaaay more to it. Then again, it’s only the first days. Might be best to keep things close to home, show them the managerial side of things, first. There’s always things that need doing around HQ.

Oh, right. That reminds you, there’s that Lorelei thing you need to handle, too. But regardless of that point, the main question remains...what are you doing tomorrow?

> Focus on a more in-depth overview, and introduce them to the who’s who around the District.
> Take them to the training clinic, and show them around properly. Maybe even have some fun!
> Stick around home and HQ to ease into it and kill two birds with one stone.

Morning, it seems like everyone’s woken up easily enough (although Harpsicorie nearly has a panic attack when she does, apparently having forgotten where she was), and breakfast is a quick enough affair. “So, what we doin’ today?” Noran asks. Mewla is resting on his head, giving off only a faint glow- apparently she’s still sleepy.

...or at least, that’s your guess. “We’re going to the Outgoer Training Clinic- everyone remember that?” They all nod. “Great. I gave you all the short version the first time, but I think you three should get the bigger tour now. Some places might be off limits, but you’ll be seeing a lot more this time. Might even be able to swing some interactivity for you...” While you doubt they’d be able to do any of the major weapons training, they should at least be able to go through the virtual sims…

“Oooh, are you gonna beat up more people?” Tami asks with a Cheshire grin. Noran looks interested, too, although Harp seems...less so.

Nonetheless, you just sigh.”I’d prefer not to, really.” The snickering from Tami tells you she was about expecting that, and even Noran joins in with some chuckling. Sighing, you finish up, and with little fanfare, you head off towards the clinic.

The walk there has isn’t very troublesome, thank goodness- the only issues being the occasional question of ‘what’s that?’ that you’re fine with pointing out on the way there. Before they can start up any complains of sore feet (or however Harp refers to her lower half), you’re there, the building’s yawning entrance seeming to give the snake girl pause. After a few moments, however, you all step in. After you get them situated, (mostly just debating with the front desk and getting them ‘guest’ passes; meaning they can’t have access to testing rooms, the ‘study hall’, or the big meeting rooms upstairs) the big tour begins. There’s the combat training room, which is familiar enough, and despite what Tami said, no one wants to hang out there for very long- likely because there seem to be few in there at the moment.

As for what else is available, closest is the rec rooms, places for people to just hang out and play various games. Really kind of a watering hole and general congregation area. After that, the virtual sim tests- rooms that let you simulate a basic mission for practice purposes; especially useful before you go for your license. You can set a lot of the base parameters, like rough technology level, light or heavy resistance, etc...the MOUT courses are a bit much, but there’s some spectator areas for if you want to watch teams go after each other in there. Meditation rooms, for those more ‘centered’ folk. Firing range might be a bit much for them at the moment, but...eh.

Might as well run through everything you can. “Alright, you three, pay attention…”
