In the last session we organized a very basic militia, crafted some aluminum bronze gear and single handedly repelled the bandit attack. In the aftermath we decided to deliver the captives to Mirangi for bounty and to reestablish communications with the village. Captain of the guard decided to send one of his subordinates to validate your claim before paying the full bounty which forces you to stay in the town until the next day. Not to lose time you decide to deal with local giant snake problem by tagging along with a group of monster hunters.

You have a great time chatting with your new team but all nice things come to end as a guard bursts into the inn and shouts that the snake beast has appeared on the outskirts of the forest. Town's militia is informed of your plan and they will give you some time to flank the creature before attempting to intimidate it with massed arrow fire and numbers like they usually do.

Everyone in the group grabs their gear and books it to the northern gate guard post to retrieve their heavier weapons. You grab your halberd and put a sack on it so that it won't give away your position. Your armor gets almost completely covered by your cloak so it should not be a problem.

Sigrid owns a two handed iron axe with a variety of rune- like inscriptions on the blade and handle. Hardwin has a simple- looking iron tipped spear while Brandir only has his swords and prefers to get in close and personal. He borrows one of spare guard spears after tipping a couple coins to the guard quartermaster. These spears are used to arm civilians in case of emergency anyway. Haven seems to prefer their longbow and only retrieve a large quiver jam packed with arrows.

With the group prepared you exit the town and sprint across the fields to skirt around the attacked territory with intent to strike it down from behind.

You don't manage to get into position in time. It seems that the snake rushed the pasture and guards had to open fire and start scaring it away as farm animals are really expensive in current economy. A cow can cost a local equivalent of 2500 dollars with horses being almost twice that. The snake is intimidated by the massed arrow fire and almost fifty pikemen charging it in formation forcing it to abandon the attack and starting the retreat.

Luckily for you, your approach is still at an angle and thus you manage to flank and surprise it tying the creature in melee while Haven scores an impressive shot which hits the right eye of the creature. You successfully move into melee range while Sigrid tries to flank the monster while blocking the tail attack with the pole of her axe. Hardwin positions himself at some distance from the creature and provides some covering fire from his bow.

Brandir, however, goes full idiot. He screams and runs directly at the monster driving the spear deep into the creature's hide. Too deep to pull out while not hitting anything vital. Giant snake repays him with a nasty tail swipe throwing him into the ground and giving him some nasty cuts to the face. Luckily he was wearing leather armor or he would have been gutted.

Unfortunately for the redheaded berserker, this is all his armor can take. The leather is cut all the way to the padding and the next hit to the chest should puncture through it. He also managed to get full attention of his adversary who ignores everyone else and goes for him. Time slows down as the creature opens its mouth. You judge that this is probably going to end either with a bite or a venom spray, both of which will be lethal to a human!

>Roll 1d20 and choose an option

>Attempt to bash the teeth in with your halberd. You need those venom glands and fangs out of the equation NOW

You swing the halberd faster than anyone can react and impact it directly into the snake's teeth. With a sick cracking sound the two large fangs get scattered just before it managed to spray your ally with venom. Snake shudders as the teeth stumps drip venom into its own mouth. It is immune to the venom and with this every bite will probably be lethal to a human. However, you have successfully saved Brandir's ass and drained the aggro to yourself.

Sigrid attacks the tail with her axe moments later but a tail swipe sends her flying several meters back leaving her axe lodged into the snake's flesh. She seems to not be wounded beyond some bruises as she stands up and equips her sword and shield. Arrows keep raining on the snake in the meantime but it doesn't seem to be deterred in any major way.

The creature turns towards you and unhinges its jaw as it flings its head towards you. You manage to successfully block the bite with your gauntlet but the snake keeps latched to your arm and proceeds to start rolling like a crocodile. You repeatedly hit the ground hard and you lose your helmet and your halberd. This is nauseating but you rapidly adapt to the sensation.

Arrows stopped hitting the creature. You assume that your allies don't want to hit you and they can't get close enough to it while it spins. What should you do?

We can do that. The arm would not break because we have the body augment allowing us to use self- targeted telekinesis without as much risk. I assume our policy is to use telekinesis only in the ways that would not be noticeable untless shit hits the fan. We have amazing body strength anyway so it is not that necessary.

You manage to grab your hunting knife from your belt and jam it into the snake's healthy eye blinding it completely. The beast flails in pain throwing you around like a ragdoll. Thank god you have sensory overload protection or you would be incredibly sick after this.

You decide that you want to get off the Spiked Snek's Wild Ride and you propel your fist into the jaw joint causing it to let go. Unfortunately it happened in mid swing which flings you almost two stories straight into the air.

As you reach apogee of your trajectory your tumbling gets adjusted with some inconspicuous telekinesis as your body continues its fall in the direction of the creature. You pull your short sword and perform a dynamic entry directly into its back.

What follows is a short rodeo as the creature convulses and tries to get you off its back as you continue to stab it until you sever its spine and it drops on the ground paralyzed. A stab into the base of the neck and into the brain finishes the job. Victory!

A thought crosses your mind: a human would probably be knocked unconscious several times over from the pounding and you are not even out of breath. You need to fake it to look less powerful. You wobble a bit and tumble while catching yourself on the snake's spike. When you get to the ground you make it seem like you were highly nauseous and you take a couple seconds to get back to your senses.

Your first words to the team are "Is everyone alright?". Brandir thumbs up and smiles as half of his face is covered in blood replying that you have just saved his bacon. It looks like he has a nasty scratch that would leave another scar but it is not life threatening and would just give him a new reason to brag about.

Sigrid is not hurt. Her armor took most of the blow without much damage. All she has are a few scrapes on her exposed face from the rough landing. She should probably invest into a helmet. She seems to be more worried about you than anything.

The two archers were outside the immediate death zone of the snake and thus suffered no damage. Haven breaks her uninvolved attitude and immediately raises a reasonable but uncomfortable question though: how the hell did you manage to live through this. Uhh...

Sigrid proposes that you are an Ancient Blood. You've heard about those guys. They are ancient kings and heroes who lived for centuries, built nations, slain monsters and you think they were another wave of pods frozen for shorter time period with less augmentations. They are supposed to be predecessors of modern nobles making psi users and supernaturally gifted people more common among them. However, their blood was too diluted making them way less potent than Ancient Bloodlines.

>I am an Outsider, incredibly strong wanderer. Please don't tell anyone

"I guess I am an Ancient Blood of sorts, just don't tell anyone, I prefer to not stand out too much". you say. This is the most reasonable approach as you've already told them about the pods and this is only part lie anyway. A joke is made about how your armor says otherwise on standing out to what you say that it attracts attention and your body is tougher than normal. Your teammates seem to buy it and thus you walk off to retrieve your helmet and weapons.

Town Militia appear some time later to assess the monster. You get a substantial award, smaller than what you got for the bandits but it is an equivalent of about two middle class wages of your time. By your request you are allowed to extract the poison glands from the snake and you recommend the head to be buried as the poison can last for years after the snake is dead causing constant threat to people. The rest of the snake has no useful properties. The scales are just thick keratin and the bones are no stronger than normal bones. You don't feel like taking its meat or something so you just leave it in the town's care.

With the task complete the group decides to split up. Brandir wants to booze up while Hardwin wants to go home and see his daughter. Haven claims to have her own business to do and fucks off almost immediately. Sigrid just wants to get some rest. What should you do?

We didn't take it because bath is closed during the day for women. It is a primitive culture and while women have more rights than in ancient Greece or Rome they still have some limitations. From one hand there is the bath that closes in a couple hours, on the other you are wearing heavy armor and you didn't take your civilian outfit along. Thus the first stop has to be the market. Most of the crowd has dispersed and some booths were packing up but you manage to get yourself some local clothes for reasonable price and check out the goods.

You don't yet have your entire payment but you can still plan what you can spend it on. It seems that the town can sell you a variety of farm animals, but that purchase would dig deeply into your funds. A good horse would cost 3/4 of the entirety of your upcoming fund. You can also purchase seeds and saplings for the fields. The village lacks enough seeds to plant one and a half fields. Your eyes catch flax seeds which might allow the village to produce normal fabrics and not rough sackcloth.

Among the raw materials you could purchase a bunch of tin to produce bronze tools for the village. Wrought iron ingots and tools are also available, but you don't currently have capacity to forge iron. You will need to purchase an anvil, a set of iron tools and get some leather for bellows if you want to process iron ingots yourself. You could also purchase fabrics and leather directly. Leather armor requires a very specific part of a cow hide which makes it pretty expensive.

Last of all you could buy some stuff for yourself. Buying trinkets and foodstuffs would not dip into your budget much but purchasing books would cost a small fortune. You have marginal interest in local technologies as you have your slightly unreliable memorized library anyway but knowledge of geography, cultures, nations, monsters and deities might be useful. You could also just purchase some iron gear since you can't produce it yourself at the moment.

After a small jolt to the inn you drop off your armor and gear into a rented holding cell and dress into your new dress somewhat styled as Greek chiton. Locals seem to treat this type of clothes as a form of official wear. It is used during the voting and during business operations and more ornate versions of it are worn by officials. Its simpler form is used as light summer clothes for the townsfolk.

Now fully ready you manage to get to the baths about an hour and a half before they close. Bath consists of 3 separate "pools", temperate one, cold one and hot one. It is one of the few buildings apart of the rich apartments and governmental buildings which has window glass. It also has separate rooms one of which includes some kind of "sauna" covered in ceramic tiles and filled with steam. The other room has a table in the middle of it and ceramic flasks are placed across a small parapet nearby. It appears empty and you guess it is a kind of massage area. Damn, these people know how to live well.

This place looks great and it seems that most if not all the tenants have already left so you have it all for yourself for that hour and a half. You decide to hang out in the sauna for a bit and then go for one of the pools.

You open the wooden door to the sauna wearing only a lien towel and take a seat on one of the wooden benches inside. You can't see shit further than a meter away but as you pick a spot you hear the words:"Oh, hi Agatha!". Sigrid is sitting in the opposite side of the steam room and you can now see her clearer as your eyes readjust.

You reply with your own greetings as you take a spot across of her. She notes how you don't look as strong as you really are. It is indeed the case. You have more of a light athlete physique with slender body and lightly visible musculature. Sigrid's biceps in comparison is almost 50% bigger than yours and damn she has some chiseled abs...

Aaaaanyway, you decide to switch the subject. You mentally thank the heat and steam for masking any possible blushing as you ask her about how different her home is from here. She tells you that her people also have saunas but from her description they appear to be similar to ancient Ruthenia "banyas". Insulated log cabins with one large oven heated to high temperature. After the procedure they usually took a swim in the nearest body of water. In her case it was a small river which flows towards the shipwright town on the western shores.

While you talk you think about how your sensations right now are pretty weird and new. You have never really liked other people in that way. You read somewhere that the hormone misbalance could have that effect and you thought that you were asexual. However, you feel something towards this person. You get a sensation that you could shut it down manually, which is probably one of your body's manual overrides. It is also not as intoxicating as love is supposed to be from the books you've read. Should you consider it a form of love or is it something else? Do you like women or not only them? Or maybe only this person? This is mildly weirding you out but you are confident that you can keep a poker face in the meantime.

>Take a mental note to test this. Everything is better with some scientific principle and bigger sample size.
>Guide the talk to the personal relations. Girls sometimes discuss their romantic encounters, right?

There is no reason to over analyze this. If you come to like her you do, if you don't you don't. But right now you are interested. If she makes a move you decide to go for it. You decide that the best way to do that is to chat about personal subjects. Likes, dislikes and so on.

Sigrid seems to be simple in her hobbies. She enjoys hunting monsters and thus she doesn't really have specific stuff she does when she is not doing that. She has some fascination with ancient things as well as objects which are divine in origin, however texts and stories of the time before the last apocalypse are rare and vague. You tell her a few stories from how life used to be back at your time. You keep it vague as if you've heard about it. You make it seem that you existed before the Ancient Bloodline founders took over and fell into one of their pods when they started waking up.

What is interesting, it seems that the locals don't have distinct two apocalypses. Their myths start with humans being miserable in the time of the Great Cold. It is described as lasting for as long as humanity existed so it is news for her that prosperous human civilization preceded it. It makes sense for her as it explains where Ancient Bloods come from, but she understands them as ancient heroes of the time before the Great Cold. Sort of like Arthurian Legend of the King in the Mountain. Ancient heroes going to hibernate until their people are in mortal danger. Eh, close enough.

Sigrid also seems to have an older sister who she treats like a role model. She is also a monster huntress like her and Sigrid claims that the sister is better at it than she is. She tells you a story of how her sister fought some kind of amphibious creature from the sea to protect the entire town with only the support of light siege weapons on the still under construction ship. She sounds like a badass for a human.

She says that her people still worship their own small pantheon of gods, but they are silent for some reason while Cenophilan pantheon has actual presence with oracles transmitting advices and divine orders and Cup Bearers showing up to wipe out monsters which are too strong to take on for humans.

By the time you finish the chat you are already done with the bath. Local people seem to use soap sparingly preferring a strange bronze tool to scrape most of the dirt off before applying the soap. Soap for them has a medical significance and thus religious significance as well. Thus soap is used sparingly as a finishing cleanup after oils, steam and scrub off. You lead Sigrid to her room in the inn and on the way out you are intercepted by Haven. She claims that she wants to speak with you. In private.

>Sure. What can go wrong, right?

Haven leads you into a really deep alley with no windows leading to it and then she stops and tells you: "You are not a human, are you?". She explains that what you did was just not survivable. Ancient Bloods have some amazing exploits but they died from trauma just like normal people even if it took way more damage according to the stories. You, on the other hand, survived repeatedly getting rammed face first into the ground at the speed at which a human neck would easily snap and you don't even have a scratch.

She also noticed how you managed to stabilize yourself from tumbling in midair. She claims that it was just too effective to be due to center of mass shifts. You also were obviously not tired at all from the experience as you were not sweaty and your face was not any redder than usual. People jog for a few minutes while appearing more tired than you after this fight. Your flailing could have fooled a normal human but she saw through it. Even if you can explain away the first problem with super vitality, having both that and super endurance AND telekinesis is too much for even Cup Bearers. Uh oh...

You propose to exchange the secrets. Haven sighs and flips her cape backwards revealing her neat brown hair, fine scaled bronze armor, delicate and pretty face and ears. Goddamn elf ears. Did you by some chance die in the pod and appeared in a shitty JRPG isekai setting? Well, overpowered protagonist is a check and cute elf girl is a check too. You don't think you could have been hit by a bus while in the pod though... Ok enough with the jokes based on references literally no one within several hundred miles can hope to understand.

She explains that she is technically a subhuman. There are many types of them from nearly indistinguishable to barely humanoid. They are treated depending on how similar they are to baseline people. While she has same rights as normal humans she has to deal with stereotypes and so on. Her kind is considered to be amazing archers with fine senses, long lives, polished skills and graceful skinny bodies while also being self centered pricks who think of themselves better than everyone else. So, basically elves. One to one. You can bet your leg that it is some pod person's work through biosculpting. They probably thought it would be funny and then whole generations of these people lived with the fallout of these changes.

Now it is your turn to reveal your secrets and you can bet she didn't expect that. You are the same type of being as the people in her pantheon after all. Head goddess is your uncle's former co-worker! But you don't feel divine. You don't want to be worshiped. You were born a human and you consider yourself a human and you will not stand other people claiming that you aren't one!

To demonstrate your claim to her you make yourself float a bit for the duration of your speech. you explain that you don't like lying but you couldn't really find another way to tell this. You don't want to be feared or worshiped and you don't like excessive attention. You especially don't want any attention from the pantheon itself as they would either try to force you into the pantheon or consider you a threat.

After the elf girl picks up her jaw off the floor she asks if the real deities are a thing then. You reply that you have no clue and apologize for breaking her world view. She says something about Apostate being right after all. You ask who that is and she says that it is a person who claims that Cenophilan gods are fake and who is told to be able to make them powerless at will. She travels between cities and preaches while antagonizing magic users and Cup Bearers.

>Make her promise not to tell anyone and act like this dialogue has never happened. It is not ideal but it is better than attracting too much attention.
>Recommend her to keep away from Apostate. She is probably left around only because she is not a huge threat. There are a few pretty obvious ways to deal with "magic sappers" such as killing them from outside their range

Now all you need to do is to make her promise that she will not tell anyone about this. You explain that your life was pretty crap before you got into the pod and received your powers and that you'd like to keep it that way for at least a human lifetime or so. After being stuck with frail dying body for two and a half decades you just want to enjoy being free of these limitations, superpowers are really secondary to this.

You also say that you should probably tell other teammates if we continue working together but she advises you against it. When three people know the secret it is not a secret anymore. She recommends you to keep the story with being an Ancient Blood and limit telekinesis to times when no one can see it. If she could notice this then others could notice it too. She tells you not to worry and that she will keep this secret.

On this note you split up and return to hanging out in the inn until the morning as it is midnight and everything else is closed.

Finally the payday has come. Messenger has returned from Farsalos village with the report. It states that your description fits: it indeed seems that the blast which destroyed the gates also was the culprit behind the majority of bandit deaths. Villager description of the battle also mostly fits with yours. Captain of the Guard decides to warrant the full bounty. 2/3 of it would go as village tax automatically leaving you with a small fortune which fits inside three sizeable linen bags. Captain recommends you not to keep them on you for long periods of time to prevent pick pocketing and robbery.

You need to decide what you would like to do with this money. You could load it up and go to the village, however neither the village nor your transport are equipped for secure storage of large amounts of funds. Alternatively you could spend most of the money in the market. Honestly you don't see many negatives in that decision.

We need crops for the village, preferably something the village doesn't have already maybe a tuber or bean species.

Get some hens and a rooster for a reliable source of protein

On a more personal level get some culinary herb seeds or living plants to start a small garden they should be relatively cheap compared to actual spices

You decide that it would be beneficial to purchase what the village needs. They would benefit from seeds they lack such as other kinds of vegetables. Farming animals would be nice but beasts of burden cost quite a lot. You also eye certain materials and tools such as an iron anvil and ingots. After a quick calculation you determine that along with all methods of transport you can make five major purchases. Anything smaller would not eat though your cash buffer significantly so you can still buy some snacks or trinkets anyway.

Keep in mind the labor deficit in the village. It can support no more than 3 fields and one and a half are already planted. You will have to manually operate some faciities if you decide to diversify too much.

You have 5 units of wealth which you can spend on the following things. Double purchase is allowed

Farming animals:
>Chickens(1 unit): a dozen of adult hens and a rooster. This is enough to instantly kickstart manufacturing of eggs and chicken meat.
>Sheep(1 unit): a breeding pair of animals famous for their soft fur
>Goat(1 unit): a breeding pair of animals famous for their meat and milk
>Pigs(1 unit): three female and one male, actually domesticated unlike boar piglets
>Horse(2 units): a single horse bred for labor. High strength but low speed and is not trained for combat.
>Cow(2 units): a single creature famous for its milk, leather and meat. Useful as a beast of burden.
>War Horse(3 units): a stallion bred for warfare. Fast, strong and trained to withstand fear and chaos of battle. Technically you outperform it in every way but it is a good way to mask your rapid travel
>Hunting dog(2 units): a canine specifically bred and trained to assist with tracking of prey in the forest

Seeds:
>Flax(1 unit): a single field worth of seeds of the famous textile and oil plant
>Veggies(1 unit): a single field worth of an assortment of varied common edible plants such as vegetables, beans and fruits
>Grain(1 unit): a single field worth of expensive wheat
>Fruit saplings(2 units): a single orchard worth of various fruit trees such as apples and figs

Materials and tools:
>Tin(2 units): large shipment of tin which should last you and the village for several years
>Iron(1 unit): a shipment of wrought iron ingots. An equivalent of 50 small iron tools
>Iron processing(2 units): an anvil and a variety of smithing tools required to forge but not smelt iron
>Fabrics(1 unit): a large shipment of processed average quality linen. In case you don't want to wait for flax
>Leather(2 units): tanned and processed cow leather including several armor grade leather pieces

Tin, Flax and a Horse

The first and most obvious choice was tin. Bronze tools are so much better than copper and having enough tin to provide for the village would make it so much more productive. With the limit you placed on aluminum bronze this is the only way to get large amount of high quality metal for the village.

Second choice was chickens. Chickens are feather, egg and meat producing machines. That is an important source of protein and nutrients for the villagers and it would diversify their diets. Eggs are also an important ingredient for many of the foods you know from your time.

The third thing you buy is a large variety of food crops. Cabbage, onions, garlic, lentils, chick peas, beans and so on. This should allow you to plant a whole field with a wide variety of crops to diversify the diets.

Last but not least is flax. Flax is an amazing plant used for textiles. It also can be used to produce linen oil and it has certain medical properties. This will allow the village to start manufacturing good quality cloth useful for everyday clothes and better quality textile armor and padding.

You had some change left and several rolls of wool and fine linen caught your attention. There is no cotton in the stores but these materials gave you an idea on how to make yourself an actual bed. With an actual pillow and bed sheets and a mattress. It took the rest of your savings but this is so going to be worth it.

You manage to load all of that on your cart and you are technically ready to go. It did take a couple of trips as large carts are not allowed into the city until past 8 pm. On the way back you also meet up with Sigrid and Haven . You are not really a part of the team but you express your wishes to continue cooperation and tell them where you can be found. They are welcome to visit the village.

The trip takes you almost the whole day and night as you needed to get out of visual range of the town and then you couldn't really levitate the cart loaded to the brim with stuff for the entire trip. The village is almost as you've left it. The gate is still blown up and mobile covers are still in positions but luckily all human remains and most of debris was removed. Villagers appear happy to see you and they thank you for the seeds and chickens.

The coop needed only a small overhaul which took you less than an hour and finally the birds were out of their tiny cramped wooden cages. There is something great in working with animals on the farm.

As you were passing through the village though you noticed that the old houses stick out much more than you thought. You have this great new granary and a perfectly serviceable wall and then you have these rotting old buildings with holes and leaks where villagers live. Especially in comparison to the clean white town nearby. Villagers claims that they will go with whatever you decide.

>Plan village overhaul. This village has a very spontaneous nature. You could recreate it with a lot of amenities. Large homes, specialized industrial buildings, communal areas and facilities, paved roads...
>Plan around the existing shape of the village. You could shape rebuilding efforts around the current village shape. This will limit the amenities you can create
>Plan reconstruction effort around the villager houses. Bulldoze the old and replace with new. Village will keep its shape and villagers would still live in cramped houses but they would be much better than before
>Plan reconstruction around the local designs. Village would look like it is right now with the same wood and thatch buildings

In the meantime:
>Repair the damage to the gates. Village security should be reestablished before anything bad happens
>Finalize construction of the industrial kiln. This will allow you to mass produce bricks and tiled roofs if you want to build really good houses. In addition better molds and ceramic utensils
>Plow the remaining field. Veggies and flax need time to grow and the earlier you plant the earlier you get the result
>Plan construction yard. Certain materials are too tedious to manufacture by hand. This will allow you to produce planks and concrete much easier and then just airlift chunks of the buildings into position

While you are here the village is more or less protected. If anything stupid enough shows up you can easily decimate it with your powers before it becomes a threat. Thus the wall can wait until you deal with more pressing matters.

Such as the kiln facility. Before you were unceremoniously interrupted you were assembling the kiln building. foundation was already airlifted into location and secured to the ground. Kiln would allow you to manufacture a huge amount of bricks for construction purposes and also replace the thatch and plank roofs with amazing ceramic tiles. Mass production of casts is just a cherry on the cake.

While the assembly of large kilns is underway you are busy planning the new village. The center has to be a plaza area with a public well for purposes of meetings and communal celebrations. You also want a public bath. Maybe not as huge as the one in the town but you just can't go back to cold well water splashdown. And also let's pave everything! During the last rain the entire village turned into a bog so badly that you resorted to hovering across it.

You should also plan the industrial facilities. A new tannery equipped for manufacturing of soap would be nice. As well as a new large and sturdy forge so that you could modify it for iron or maybe even steel production. Maybe a wind powered lumber mill with a larger carpentry. Also warehouses and a backup granary would be nice.

No, the main goal is to establish houses for the villagers. Who needs fancy workplaces if they live in slums. The village will take a radial circular shape with four "wings". Northern and southern wing would be completely made up of the houses. Eastern part would have all the industrial facilities while western part would have the town hall and the permanent storage facilities such as granaries.

Now the main question is how to build these buildings. You already decided to use bricks but you can use them in various ways...

>Logs. Sturdy construction with no real need for massive insulation due to the fact that we are in a warmer climate than Mediterranean. We will use brick and mortar foundations.
>Wattle and daub. We make a standard medieval European buildings out of wooden frames and sections of whitewashed dirt and fiber over wattle frames Less sturdy than logs but much easier to manufacture and sturdy enough. Bricks are used as foundations and for the first floors.
>Full brick. Let's just go for the sturdiest design and build full brick buildings. This will take a while but no one can say that you cheaped out on it. These buildings will last this village for generations.

>Logs. For housing
Modern logbuilding is relatively sturdy and we have plenty of material around. With telekinesis it's basically building with lego. The main problem is that we don't really have a ready access to glass.
>Full Brick. For industrial building, the church and the mayor house.
Those being more important to the community and bricklaying being rather time consuming it would be best to limit its usage.
>>
>>2786648
The town itself seems to be really milking that greco roman style for the rich people and public buildings with white or whitewashed stone or brick. Poorer and external buildings contain more wood but are still painted white. We can go for that style if we build with brick and then plaster the outside.
>>
>>2786658
We don't really have access to easy wood processing either. It would be easier if we make the construction yard or if we rush the mill so we don't have to screw with log processing.

You decide that it would be nice to mimic the style used the style used by the governmental buildings in Mirangi. Stone or brick buildings with a lot of plaster on the walls to make them look white and monolithic. You are definitely going to use this for the communal buildings and industrial areas.

However, it is too time intensive to do so for every single building. You can afford to make the first floor out of bricks but making two floor buildings would basically double the effort. You need a better solution. Medieval European wattle and daub seems like a good choice. There are precedents of buildings with the first floor made out of stone and brick while top floor being made out of wooden frame with wattle walls filled in with fibrous dirt. However, you have access to gypsum concrete and plaster. You can forgo dirt and use fiber reinforced gypsum panels to prevent rapid erosion while keeping the look. Mass producing wattle should also train your telekinesis.

You estimate that preparation of resources should take you six days with assembly taking around a week. However, your plan relies on large scale excavation for the cellars and foundations which would leave areas of the village demolished for several days. This is your largest project yet and you need a way to reduce discomfort of the people...

>Prepare resources and assemble buildings in modules to be airlifted in place. This will extend preparation time but allow you to shorten assembly drastically
>Construct temporary communal habitat for misplaced civilians for several days of construction
>Perform excavation in sections allowing villagers to live with each other during excavation and assembly. Alternatively this will decrease the size of temporary barracks
>Push yourself, This will exhaust you but allow you to perform excavation and assembly of a section in just one day
>Assemble construction yard. This will take three days and decrease preparation time by a day but it will allow faster construction in the future

The best way to minimize discomfort is to take the least amount of time. If you produce resources while you are constructing the actual process would take way too long. Thus you need a way to efficiently store and manufacture building materials before you start the actual construction. A construction yard of sorts.

It is not really a historical building. Instead it is your own invention. A large open warehouse outside the limits of the village to store materials, a platform for modular assembly and concrete pouring and the most important of all, concrete mixer and a lumber mill. Everything is structured specifically to facilitate telekinesis. Telekinesis moves stuff and powers the simple machines which cut wood and mix concrete in much vaster quantities than you could manage on your own. Normal people will not be capable of using it but this would allow you to efficiently and quickly turn raw materials into parts of buildings.

The kiln was an absolute success. A single heating cycle produces almost a third of a building worth of bricks. Unfortunately a single cycle requires about four hours to complete and bricks require pre- drying period. This limits the maximum speed of brick making. You end up setting the kiln to work and returning several hours later to reset it like if you were playing one of those annoying farming games on the phone.

You don't just lose that time, however. There are logs to be turned into frames and concrete to be poured in the shapes of the foundations. By the end of the week you have a whole mountain of bricks and stacks of identical foundations, planks, nails, processed logs and other needed stuff. You could have gone for premade modules but they would be more exhausting to transport. You can't literally rip a whole building out of the ground and place it in another place without a major headache just yet.

The day of the start of excavation is drawing near and villagers seem to be somewhat worried. They transported all their valuables into the granary and they came to ask you where should they stay for the upcoming week and a half of construction. It seems that they didn't sleep well due to constant sawmill noises from outside the village and they are not too pleased, however they are somewhat scared of you and don't express this clearly. Your plan requires you to demolish at least a quarter of the village at a time due to shared foundations and anchor points.

>Assemble a simple barrack for the whole village
>Assemble a barrack for a quarter of the village and process it a quarter at a time
>Try to airlift sturdier buildings outside the construction zone. You are not sure how they'd fare though
>Force yourself to rapidly finish a quarter of the village. This will knock you out but villagers would have housing within three days or so.

This problem has to be addressed. Villagers need a place to sleep and rest during the construction process. You take another day to create a large log building designed to house a quarter of the population in separated sleeping quarters. A separate building is made for miscellaneous purposes and equipped with a furnace for food preparation. You have no energy or need to really make it anything more complex. It is temporary after all. Villagers would need to live in it for no longer than a week or so. Once the quarter of the village is constructed they shall be able to move into the much larger houses and live in higher comfort while you continue with the rest of the village.

Unfortunately the lack of facilities during construction would make it impossible for the villagers to continue duties outside tending the fields and animals. This means that no forging or weaving can be done for the duration of the construction.

Once all villagers and all their stuff is safely moved to the barracks or granary the fun finally begins. It is not that easy to break all the buildings to the north of the village. There is few to recycle as they are mainly wooden and thus all rotting wood flies directly into the bin while you excavate the dirt. It is not quite the monolithic foundation as you don't have access to steel reinforcement. You have to construct the foundation in such a way that it would not only have some space for shrinking and growing due to heat but also so it doesn't sink into the ground. You do that by anchoring the foundations right to the bedrock with multiple concrete pillars. Bedrock is about 15 meters below the surface and would definitely be a challenge for local engineers but for you it is a matter of focus and effort.

Each building also has a cellar of sorts similar to the one in the granary. You decided that it would be a good idea to have them both for storage and as shelters in case of an emergency. In case of a monster attack or some other cataclysm villagers could just rush into their cellars to escape the danger. Cellars inside each quarter of the village are connected to a central tunnel leading to the center of the town where they would intersect with each other.

Hardest part was the sewer. Having severs is the best way to evade the issues with medieval sanitation. The village will have a centralized and scalable sewer system which will be linked to the storm drains on the surface. Main issue was a complete lack of a river where all of this could be dumped to. You had to dig out a large refuse pit outside of the wall borders and link the sewer to it through a thick bronze grate. It is also designed to be accessible in case of plugs or emergencies.

You are most proud of your running water project. Each building is connected to a network of scalable copper pipes which lead into bathroom areas and kitchens inside of the houses. You are yet to create a pump and a water tower but it will be easier to do this now instead of later.

Four days later the quarter of the village is finally done. White and pretty two story buildings where the local people would move to. Villagers are equally impressed. You increased their individual living space by a almost a factor of eight and standards of living are through the roof. After all each building has modern bathrooms, the kitchens have running water and each household has an oven, separated rooms and a cellar.

Whew, time to get on with the rest of this mess...

Southern quarter of the village is really similar to the northern. However with the northern part complete villagers can live together abandoning the barrack and starting to move their stuff into the new houses. There is a bit of confusion about the bathrooms and not yet operating running water but you tell them to just ignore it until you are free enough to explain everything.

The buildings are bulldozed, the useless rotting wood is thrown away and the anchors are attached to the bedrock. Then follows the cellar slash bunker system and the sewers and after that goes the piping before all of it gets buried. All houses are equal for every villager. They don't seem to have nobles or richer peasants so you decided that everyone just gets a fancy house. With a tiny balcony and cute small garden for some flowers on the first floor.

However it is finally time to replace your home. A small wooden hut to the very northern edge of the village To say the least it is crap and you are happy to bulldoze the remains with telekinesis. However you are not a normal villager. You don't have to have the same house as everyone else...

>Make yourself a bigger house than the villagers. Maybe a floor taller or more ornate?
>Make your house completely brick. Extra sturdy is worth the effort.
>Make yourself an exactly normal house like for everyone else. You don't want to make villagers feel inadequate. Also it is only for you so you can still fit a bunch of stuff
>Make your house normal from the outside but dig out and reinforce a huge cellar. You want some workshops and private storages for your stuff.

At the very least we should use bricks. Given we are actually going to live long enough for it to matter.

ok, I'll give you the brick if you give me that we separate a space near it to connect a tower later

To be fair, my selection of a bigger house doesn't exactly specify what it is, so a tower (perhaps only another two floors or so) is entirely within reason. Plus it could prove a good place to put a pigeon coop should we ever have need of such methods of communication.

>>2787537
We already have a town bath although I think we could get away with a small one in our home but I agree we need spare bedrooms especially in case we need to keep an eye on some people (e,g visiting tax collectors / government officials).

It might also be a good idea to make ourselves a vault or safe to store valuables / money in.

Unlike the villagers you are building your own house and thus you have your own specifications for it. You are not only going to live in it, it is also your base of operations.

Knowing this you start with the laborious process of digging out a huge hole all the way to goddamn bedrock and reinforcing it on the way. Once you reached the bedrock 16 meters below the surface through a combination of airlifted and poured concrete you assemble the bracings and walls of your underground complex.

The pressure and available resources dictate a very specific shape. The deeper layers are made out of stacked two meters thick concrete rings with this cylinder capped by a fully concrete dome built in similar technique to ancient roman Pantheon which had the largest concrete dome for hundreds of years. In the end you have way more space than you know what to do with. A multilayered underground complex 12 meters tall and 10 meters in diameter with separate access to aquifer and natural ventilation through bronze piping in the concrete and ventilation shafts.

There is a large hole right in the center of the dome with a huge "cork" suspended above it on concrete supports. In case anything bad happens you are capable of collapsing the cork and sealing the entire facility at a whim. This hole goes all the way through with a spiral staircase wrapped around it. You feel a little bit doomday preppy after completing it.

A normal two level cellar is built on top for masking purposes and it holds access to the emergency shelter level and to the sewers just in case. You should probably use it for some minor projects such as central heating or a wine cellar.

There is a saying that your house is your fortress. This is exactly what you are going for. Your home will have a slightly larger footprint but the external walls would be almost two to three times thicker than villager homes. These walls consist of brick layers on both sides of large ceramic plates in the middle. A lot of elements had to be custom made such as ornate ceramic supports or an actual ceramic flooring in some areas.

While the house looks like a bulkier and fully brick version of normal villager home it has special support columns and arches which makes its roof load bearing. You can easily build up a couple of floors in the future. You plan to finish the insides with some tasteful application of wood once you are done with the carpenter's building.

You went a little bit crazy with the features though. The inner walls have internal piping leading into the cellar in case you make a central heating/cooling system. A complex network of pipes allows for ventilation. There are ceramic window shutters that can be telekinetically collapsed to seal all windows.

There is also a steam room built in the image of Greek saunas with large ceramic table in the middle. You also decide to cast yourself a thick copper bath which takes a lot of fiddling to do correctly. There is a point though when it gets painfully obvious you got a bit carried away...

Well, this was awkward. You need to finish with the village reconstruction before starting other major projects. The next priority is industry which means eastern sector. You don't need to bulldoze too much of the buildings as it is mainly filled with ruins anyway so all of that goes to the trash and you can return to the excavation.

Connection to the water supply and sewer doesn't take much, but bunker access is a little bit different. In the center of the area there is an intermediate storage facility specially for the workshops to access it without needing to haul a cart across the whole village. Inside of it there is a restroom and recreation area and through it you can access the tunnel leading towards the center of the village.

Each workshop has two small and separate storage facilities for "input" and "output" so that everything is in order. These buildings include the all new coal coke and charcoal furnace which can also produce tar as a sub product. Charcoal would be mainly needed by the new smithy while tar has a ton of various uses from medicine to waterproof cloth.

Right next to it is the new forge. You have specifically designed the furnace to later be modified for higher temperatures. Currently you lack leather for bellows and blacksmith tools to prepare it for iron working. You have managed to make the furnace gas recycler though and it makes the furnace vastly more efficient. On the bright side the smelter was scaled up massively allowing you to process more copper than ever. There is also some space for expansion if you'd like to add a blast furnace or power the bellows. Pelagia seems to really like it.

Carpentry is now much larger and more well equipped. Days of working on wood on the spot are almost over. It combines the lumber mill saw. The saw is currently hand/telekinesis cranked but you should be able to construct a windmill once you get your hands on some more cloth.

Tannery is placed at the very edge of the industrial zone due to the smell it produces. You outfit it with the tools necessary to create soap in addition to tanning hides and skinning animals.

The hardest thing to position was the kiln. Ripping it off the ground whole didn't work so you had to disassemble it into larger pieces and reassemble it on a new foundation. You still have a few spots for new industrial buildings but that's all what you really need at the moment. You had a thought to add a fabric processing building but it seems households produce cloth anyway as a side project and there are no professional spinners. You might want to make some machinery to make the process easier and more efficient but you put it on the waiting line for now. You just have the last push remaining...

Hey qm, a question if you will.

Se picked the super inteligence thing right? That means we can safellh assume we are way more smart, and can make wah more technological things then pod people that didn't pick it right?

My plan was to try and repurpose our pod a little if we can, it would be almost impossible to restore it to full power but I was thinking that we could mabe tinker with it with our enourmous brain to be able to give minor versions of our powers to other people, create our demi-gods you know?
>>
>>2792109
Of course, we would probably need a way to generate power and a lot of other things but I think we can manage it with out mental boost right?
>>
>>2792109
We have the brain augment, yes. It is currently an unreliable library that we tap into when presented with a goal. Doing research on various subjects would unlock more of it into permanent access. We don't currently know how the pod works apart of it being nanotech and powered by some fusion reaction.

We can't tweak the pod though. At least easily. The pod itself due to being nanotech and designed to function for thousands of years is basically monolithic. We can't just unscrew a plate somewhere and tap into the fusion reactor or the pod's computer. To reboot it we'd not only need to manufacture high grade fusion fuel but also hotwire a computer into it to force access to the refueling port. Also there is the whole psychological stability and bio-compatibility tests we had to go through that locals didn't. It has a way higher chance to drive a person mad or dead than with us. If we want to replicate the project in a meaningful way we would also need to find other open pods to tap into their databases to reconstruct augment blueprints piece by piece.

So yeah we could do it if we dedicate a lot of time, unlock more of the brain aug and didn't get discovered as we basically cobble together modern industry and bust into other pod people's bases for their pods.
>>
>>2792131
Got it, at best a very long term plan.

So, would you say that for my hipotetical idea of improving some people(without the biomod mod that we didn't pick but with smartmod nanotech) not into versions of ourself, but in people with just a fractiom of what se have it's more practical to study the pod and try to replicate some of it's nanotech in a smaller scale?
>>
>>2792138
Long term plan, would need at least several pods to make it less suicidal for the subject and we would also need fusion fuel to manufacture which is its own odyssey. Issue with nanotech is that it is dangerous as balls and needs a ton of processing power. Pod computer contains only the data on our augs which are tweaked for our biology and psychology. We can't just equip a quarter of a package to someone else. Note how second generation pods didn't work with packaged powers, stealing one would vastly accelerate the project.

It would be easier if we took the biosculpting or nano body with brain at the start. It would also be faster to find and befriend a biosculptor pod person. We know at least one person with fitting qualitifations: Cenophilan god of medicine.
>>
>>2792143
Got it, thanks for explaining.
>>

Still kind of dissapointed we didn't take biosculpting at the start.

Consider that in an alternate universe where we did choose it, we are regretting it because of how much longer it is taking us to rebuild the town, if we even are doing that.
