After Amelia’s dad called, your sister decided not to call him back like a moron – but perhaps she will answer the next time he does call again! Half-measures aren’t good, but everyone is feeling too tired to bother right now.
Now that your sister is going to live here from now on, you need to rearrange the place for her too – frankly the whole apartment is a mess organization-wise, so you are redistributing everything.

Amelia is decorating the house with some of the old photos you found; now the fridge is full of them. After putting Terry’s painting in the living room (because why the hell not?), the whole apartment is ready! It’s nice seeing your old system under your new TV. You nod proudly at the scenery, and out of the corner of your eye you see Nariko staring at the console. Vidya’s got to be better for her than those brainwashing TV dramas! Maybe later though…

“I still can’t believe this apartment has an attic.” Amelia stares at the ceiling. It’s not big enough for someone to use as a room, but you can store stuff in there with the old lamps that still work.
“This is an old-fashioned apartment though. People didn’t know what they were doing decades ago.” You pretend to know why something like that exists, even though you have no idea how it fits between your apartment and whoever’s on the fourth floor. Shouldn’t there be pipes or other things in that space, instead of an actual attic?!
“Your dad left a lot of crap in there, you know?” Yu Yan reminds you of your dad. You threw away all the bottles, broken furniture, and old newspapers after he fucked off to who knows where.
Good riddance, you think.

You still have some time to kill before dinner. You still feel a tad sick…

What do you do?

>You can’t let those three sleep together in the same bed! Maybe you could ask Craig if he has a spare futon or small mattress?
>Continue your mom’s legacy and take a nice picture with this strange group of people. You owe it to her and yourself, right?
>Check your phone! New wild messages could have appeared while you were gone, maybe from people you don’t know…!
>Hit the old vidya games! You need to relive the classics, the good shit! Not any of these newfangled mobile money-sink pieces of trash!

You cannot let those three sleep together in the same bed, and your couch cannot be a replacement for a decent bed! Maybe you should take a hike to Craig’s apartment and ask him if he has a bed or a futon to spare. He probably does – he has a lot of stuff lying around and he’s charitable enough.

“Girls, I’m going out – I’ll try to find a bed for Amelia.”
“I looooove beaaaaars!” A half-sleepy Amelia blears out from the couch.
“He said beds, you dummy.” Yu Yan corrects your sister, but Amelia’s starting to drool now.
“Can I ask you where, dear Johnny?” It would be good if you tell them for once, but first to let Nariko know…

“Could you stop calling me ‘dear’? It’s kinda weird…” It has always bothered you even though it took you this long to tell her about it.
“I… Uhm… I’m sorry…” Nariko’s face falls into a distraught look. Whoops…?
“Oh… Don’t apologize, forget I mentioned it. I’m going to ask Craig, I’ll be back in a second. You won’t even notice.” You adjust your glasses.
“Maybe you should take Nariko with you?” Yu Yan pats Nariko on the back. Nariko looks better already!

“No I’m good. I’ll see you in a bit. See ya!” You are already at the door! They didn’t notice how fast you moved. After all the workouts you did with Trent and the others, you’re much faster than you used to be.
“Be careful!” Nariko yells after you as you close the door behind you. No need to lock it, Nariko or Yu Yan can do it.

You go down two flights of stairs and arrive at Poker Night Stadium…! You wonder if Craig is home. Let’s find out!

“Hey Craig.” He opened the door, thank god. You didn’t want to wait out in the midsummer heat.
Craig doesn’t miss a beat. “Hey kid, nice timing. Could you do me a favor?” You blink at this. Is something going on? “I was going to ask you for one.”
“Nice, then we can make a deal.” Craig grins. “What do you need first?”

“A bed or a futon, if you have one to spare that is.”
Craig turns to look back into his place, hums for a moment, then back to you. “Yeah, I do. I have a room for guest visits I never get; I can lend you the bed if you wanna.”
“I’d prefer if it’s something you aren’t using.” Craig’s always been there for you. Inconveniencing him at all would make you feel bad.
“I just said no one uses it! Besides, I can always knock at your door if I need it.”

“Nice, thanks.” You nod respectfully before getting down to business. “So… What do you need me for?”
“Dunno if you notice, but we have new tenants here.” You haven’t noticed at all! You never pay any attention to anyone else living at your apartment building other than Craig and yourself! “And one of them is… well…” He rubs the back of his neck, looking a bit apprehensive. “…You’re good with girls, right?”
Where is this coming from?! “No, I am not.”

Craig scoffs. “Don’t sell yourself short, kid! Anyway, she’s kind of depressed and… she’s around your age, so maybe you two could… you know, be friends and shit?” Craig is less tactful than you expected.
“I don’t think that’s going to help her though.”
“Better than nothing, yeah? At least make her know she has good neighbors. C’mon kid, lend me a hand here!”

What do you do?

“What’s wrong with her?” You wanted to mention Amelia is also a new tenant, but maybe you should save it for later.
Craig gives you a funny look. “Haven’t you ever had a bad breakup?”
You try to respond as gravely as possible. “No…” And hopefully you won’t ever have any. You and Uccelli have been good so far, haven’t you?

Craig sighs a deep sigh. “Well, it’s something like that. She’s having a hard time lately, and it seems no one but her mother has given her any help.” He chuckles and points at himself. “You know I can’t do much either – I’m a pretty useless guy in that sense. So maybe a change of approach is what she needs?”
“I don’t know if I really can be of help, I don’t think I have the qualifications.” You don’t know a better way to put it.
“I’m not asking to be her miracle pill or somethin’, just be her friend. Maybe take her out with your friends, get her to go places, give her some social exposure or shit. I’m out of options, kid. I wouldn’t be asking you if my back wasn’t against the wall.”

What is making Craig do this? Something about this girl has to be forcing his hand to this point… “Why is she so important? And who is she anyway?”
He gives a sheepish smile. “She’s my girlfriend’s daughter. Her name’s Ajna.”
Wait, what? “Pardon me…?”
“What? It’s so unbelievable I have a girlfriend?” Craig laughs loudly for about half a minute while your mind starts racing, grasping at straws.

“No… The daughter’s name, what was it again?” You must have misheard him. Yeah.
“Ajna… Yeah, it’s a weird-ass name. I think people bullied her when she was little and all. Damn shame.”
“Her full name, please.” There could literally be anyone in Pokyo Lokyo with that exact name! Anywhere but your apartment!
“Ajna Ravlic. She’s a smart, kind, and sweet girl! Please help me out kid! Seeing her like that breaks my old fighter heart.”

Fuck… That’s definitely Osgood’s friend.
Oh god, maybe this is not something you should get into…

“Isn’t that Osgood’s friend…?” You explain to Craig everything you know, on top of the things Osgood told you. Including the supernatural stuff and the suicide stuff. He facepalms so hard it’s almost like he punches himself in the face.
“…At least he felt somewhat bad about it. Fuck.” Craig, he tried to commit suicide just because of guilt. Now, that’s going way overboard for a reaction – but Osgood has always been a little bit of a bitch. Anyway, he looks at you wide-eyed, as if just realizing something new. “Holy shit, kid. Does that mean you had it rough too? To get one of those things?”

“I don’t think this is the time or the place to talk about this, Craig.” Craig, you need to focus!
“Kid, if things are going badly for you, you know everybody here would back you up? I mean technically they aren’t ‘here’, and Helmaer would still be a lazy ass and not help. But you get me?”
“S-sure…” You still don’t know how to feel about it. Having this many people you can rely on about something like that. “But we aren’t here to talk about me, are we?”
“Yeah, you’re right. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable.” Well, it’s not like Ajna or whatever is that sweet relaxing topic you would’ve wanted…

“You aren’t going to do anything to Osgood, right…?” You lean back on the hallway wall and give Craig one of your Poker Night glares to show you’re serious. He takes it well.
“He’s young and he fucked up, that’s part of growing up. Besides I had a stern talk with him after the incident too. I was furious too, but I think he learned his lesson.” He raises an eyebrow at you. “Didn’t he? He didn’t run away when you guys were doing your magic battle stuff?”
“Not even once.” Maybe this fully explains why Osgood isn’t a complete coward anymore.

Craig gives you a thumbs-up. “See? He grew a pair. That’s enough for me.”
You frown and rub your forehead. “So is this chick, like, still depressed about what happened?” You’re getting tired of dealing with depressed people in general. Can’t people motivate themselves or do something useful? Sitting around and whining doesn’t change anything!
“That and more! Her whole life went to the dumpster! But I know she just needs more positive influence so she can get her life back on track.”

“And… You think I’m good for that? I’m that much of a positive guy?”
“I did say I was desperate, didn’t I?” Craig chuckles, but then his expression goes dark and he grits his teeth. “At least you’re going to be more of help than her stupid psychiatrist. What a waste of money…” He looks back at you, concerned. All tension goes out of him. “I can tell you aren’t comfortable with this. I don’t mind if you decline – but try to be nice with her when you see her around the place, okay?”

“Alright… I’ll do it, but can I bring someone with me? Just in case, I mean…”
“Who exactly?”
“My little sister.”
“Yeah, that’s fine.” Craig gives you a relieved thumb up.

“…I don’t think I should go now, right?” He can’t be expecting you to do this this soon!
“Please!” Craig does a little bow. Oh god, he’s really desperate if he’s bowing to you like this. Damn. This doesn’t mean you can’t work him a bit before you do your job… “Sure, I’ll do it… But first, let’s move the bed.”
Craig visibly relaxes further and starts laughing. “Thanks kid! I owe you big time.”

After you and Craig move the disassembled bed into your apartment, you drag your sister alone to this task. This leaves Nariko and Yu Yan to assemble the bed inside their room, but it’s easy to set up to begin with, so it’s okay. There’s space to spare now that you moved some of the crap out of there and into the attic…

Anyway, Amelia took a nap while you were out, so she feels much better equipped to handle this! You not so much, but you will try!

Craig asked you to not mention he basically arranged this, to present yourselves as nice neighbors who wanted to give her a warm welcome to the apartment complex, and most importantly to NOT say the words ‘good’ or ‘Osgood’. Damn, now you won’t be able to say your most renowned catchphrase: ‘What’s good?(©)’

Fuck, this is going to be awkward… Strangely enough, she lives three doors away from you.
You’re out in front.

“You ready?” You have a food basket with you. It was Nariko’s idea to give Ajna some homemade food. Maybe she was planning to eat some of the leftovers…? Who knows? It sounded like a good idea at the time, so you went with it.
“Uh… No?” Amelia is nervous. She’s supposed to back you up, but she’s dragging you down!
“You work in a flower shop. You should know how to deal with strangers, right?”
“I-I’m sorry…” Why is everyone apologizing to you today? Boring. You prefer when they throw you the banter back.
“We’re doomed…” You take a deep breath, relax yourself, and knock on the door…

After a few minutes the door opens, just like with Scarlet that one time at her house. There is a door chain lock, and between the door gap, you see a girl with a blanket covering all of her minus a small part of her face and disheveled hair. The one eye you see of her makes it clear she either hasn’t slept in days, or has something else not letting her sleep right.
The look she gives you is both horrified and traumatized, and all sorts of fucked up all at once. It makes you legitimately scared like you’ve rarely felt before, and you start feeling concerned about the other people living in your apartment complex right now – people you never thought to care about…

“Hey, welcome to the apartment neighbor.” You try to give her the food basket, but there isn’t enough space for it to fit through the door. “We came to say hi.”
She’s just staring at you, breathing heavily – not even once has she moved her eyes onto the basket and away from you. This is legitimately making you uncomfortable.
“I-It’s homemade and very d-d-delicious!” Amelia finds the courage in herself! You’re proud of her. “I’m A-A-Amelia and he’s Johnny! Very n-nice to meet you!” So proud.

The unhinged animal closes the door as soon as Amelia stops talking, then she unlocks the door and opens it veeeeeeeeery slowly. You can’t see the rest of her living room from out here, the curtains are drawn and the lamps are off. Does she willingly live in the dark?
She extends her trembling hands towards the basket. Feels like you are feeding an abused animal in a rescue shelter. You try to leave the basket in her hands, but she shivers and moves them away when you try it – you need to do this slowly…

“Relax; I’m not going to do anything.” You try to calm down the crazy-eyed girl. After slowly managing to calm her down, you get the courage to speak. “What’s your name?” You’re still hopeful she isn’t the same girl in Osgood’s story.
“…Ajna.” It was barely audible but you caught it! Sounds like she hasn’t talked for a long time…
Fuck, it’s confirmed now! Damnit!

“Well Ajna, we’ll see you around. Our apartment is number 301. I hope you enjoy your stay here.” You politely say as you turn around to leave – but before you do so, a hand extends out from the dark confines of her apartment and grabs your t-shirt. You can feel her trembling and looking at you with pure desperation. She doesn’t want you to go…

“tt..t…t..t.t…” She mumbles under her breath in a ragged voice.

What do you do?

(Sorry lads, 20 minute rule.)

What is she trying to say…?

T…?

T…?

Exterminate…?! SHE’S TRYING TO KILL YOU! You grab your trusty partner! It’s time to defend yourself and expel this terrifying fiend from this world! Osgood was a true hero after all! With your clean state of mind, you say with all confidence:

“BEGONE, YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING FIEND!” So manly. You invoke Philonune! You’re ready to go! You move forward! The woman stops grabbing your shirt.
“J-J-JOHNNY?!” Amelia is concerned and scared. Saraswati appears in the scene too!
“AAAAAAAAAAaAaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAH!!” The banshee shrieks as she escapes deeper into her apartment.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” You yell back and bulldoze your way inside, chasing her!
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” Amelia yells too, but stays in position right outside.
“Calm down you idiots! She just tried to thank you! Stop screaming!” Saraswati is beyond pissed!
“Regain your composure, my friend! This is no foul beast.” Philonune yells at you to calm your ass down. Is he laughing at the situation…?

After a solid minute of blurred chaos, you realize the monster woman is in fetal position crying in front of you. You’re in a dark room with Amelia nowhere to be found. You put Philonune on your shades and try to filter everything except infrared, and see nothing but some boxes lying around and the girl whimpering… You’re not completely sure where you are, it maybe be her evil dungeon or something. Pretty lackluster if it is though.

What do you do?

“Hey I’m sorry…” You inch closer to the crying human ball now that you realize what a retarded thing you did. “I just panicked all of a sudden…”
You continue hearing her crying and sobbing in her curled-up state. Is she having a panic attack? Shouldn’t you be calling an ambulance or something? Wait, that’s not how to handle a panic attack! Maybe she just needs some water? Well, your little idiot brain could only think of crouching down and uselessly patting her on the back.

“I’m sorry for screwing this up, Ajna. I’m just a big idiot…” You’re hoping for your sister to appear to rescue you – not that she handled the situation any better. “If you want me to leave, please continue crying.”
She actually stopped the moment you said that. What the hell…?

“A-are you okay?” Okay, now you understand Osgood about how bad it feels to make someone cry like this, even if you don’t care about the person all that much. You remember making Nariko and Yu Yan break down by ignoring them just a day or two ago, but you didn’t bat an eye then. Now you’re not so sure what you did was right… and you start feeling a pit in your stomach…

Wait, Osgood… Didn’t you call her a good for nothing fiend? Maybe that triggered her?
Nah, that’s too convenient...

“I.. i .i.. i… is.. i.. is… is…. ssss…” Oh god, she’s stuck trying to say something again.
“Do you mind if I turn on the lights?” Better have some distance from her, not to mention get some much-needed light. Sure you don’t need it, but she does!

She’s still in ball mode, so you decide to turn the lights on without her approval. Philonune leaves your glasses as you do this, looking back at Ajna with an unusually concerned smirkless expression. Anyway, the room seems to be the rough equivalent of your dad’s room in this apartment. There’s nothing but boxes in here… Where does she sleep? On the floor?

You walk back to where she is on the floor. “Again, I’m really sorry. I’ll let you be now. I hope you enjoy the food basket and—”
The blanket balloon grabs your feet. It’s trembling again.

What do you do…?

>Leave! You already did too much damage to possibly recover from this!
>Help her stand up. She needs to recover her dignity, and you need to make sure she actually forgave you.
>Maybe go get a glass of water for her? These apartments are almost identical, so you know where the kitchen is.
>Open the window and let some fresh air in? That’s what you do when people have panic attacks, right?
>Go search for Amelia. She should still be frozen right outside in the hallway, if she hasn’t ditched you by now.

She now brings her other hand up and grabs your leg… This is just sad. She’s probably too afraid and confused to understand that the source of all her fears right now is you. And it’s all your fault.

“C’mon… I’ll help you stand up.” You grab her arms and drag her upwards as gently as possible.
Somehow the blanket falls off her, and you are able to see the mess of a woman you are dealing with. She doesn’t look good at all – her eyes are red, tears are still falling, her hair is a mess, her clothes are visibly worn down… It’s just plain sad. No other way of putting it.
Well, at least she isn’t as fat as the legends said.

“I’m really, really sorry.” You stare in her eyes directly so this apology is as genuine as you can make it. She slowly nods without taking her eyes off you, like a wounded animal begging for mercy.
Wait. Hold the phone. “Hold on a second, were you able to see the you-know-what…?”
She continues to tremble but nods again… Normal people aren’t supposed to be able to see entities! What the hell?! Fuck, fuck, fuck!

You calmly grab her blanket off the floor, and put it back in her hands.
“Do you want me to leave, yes or no?” You keep your voice nice and even to avoid agitating her any more than you already did.
She’s just standing there, staring at you. Ajna is probably too afraid to move or something. This is one pretty big fuck-up, but why is she able to see your entity?! Is leaving things like this a good idea…? Oh god, what can you do now?! Well, there is something…

You take a step back and invoke your partner once again. You don’t even remember when you put him away… Ajna’s cringing in fright, slowly backing away from you without making a sound.

“T-this is Philonune… He’s my partner. I swear we won’t hurt you, I just made a mistake…” Philo gives Ajna a warm smile as you dispel him.

Ajna is breathing heavily and hasn’t moved an inch from her spot.

Seriously, what do you do?!

“Do you want some water?”
Ajna keeps staring at you terrified.
“Do you or not…?”
She slowly nods, like answering for the sake of it.

“Let’s head to the kitchen then…” You gently grab her arm and drag her along.
Her kitchen is pretty empty aside from the regular pantry, counters, cabinets and sink, but there’s also a mini fridge. You find a plastic cup instead of any regular cups, and serve her some water. There’s no furniture anywhere in the living room except for a TV on the floor and a futon in a corner. The place is not nasty by any means – just empty except for the boxes. She’s been using some of her boxes as impromptu tables. Perhaps she hasn’t fully unpacked all her stuff…?

She left the plastic cup next to her quickly, almost spilling it in the process…

Also, where the fuck is Amelia? You’re worried about her, but you are dealing with Ajna now.
You two sit on the floor… Not even a single chair, huh? You bow down your head and ask for forgiveness once more.

“Please forgive me, I’ll do anything.” You beg and grovel. You know you fucked up, and you know you have to own up to it any way you can – if only to get rid of that sick feeling you still have…
“F-f-f-f-f-f…” She just cannot talk no matter how hard she tries. Hey something like this happened to you before, with Constance the first time you met! Perhaps she can still write!

You extend your phone out to her. “Maybe it’s tough for you to talk. Here, write whatever you want to say.”

She keeps staring at your phone without making any extra movements. So does this mean you just royally fucked up, and there’s simply no solution whatsoever?

“You haven’t touched your water…” You remind her of your only good deed. She leaves your phone next to her.

Her hands are shaking but somehow firmly grasp the plastic cup. As she slowly moves the cup to her face, the water starts spilling out. She’s now wet. Just great.

“Be careful there…” Kinda late to tell her, but it’s the thought that counts!
“Is…is… s… s… s…”
“Use the phone, it’s going to be easier for you to communicate – I guarantee it.” Worked for your clinic mummy, it’ll work for her!

She nervously and carelessly grabs your phone and drops it on the water-spilled floor! What a fuck-up!

“Damn…” You couldn’t keep the thought from your mouth. Your phone should be fine though. As soon as you say it, she crawls away from you into the corner of the room… “Again, I’m not going to hurt you…” You grab the phone and clean it.

She puts her head down and bows to you…
“S… s…s... sss.. .s….s…” She still can’t talk.

What do you do?

God damn, what the hell is all this spaghetti on the floor? Also, if she's this shaken, it would make sense that she'd already have been approached for a partner by now. She's probably already attempted suicide or come close to it by the looks of things.

I think her hands are too shaky for the phone in general, but the phone was already offered so leave the option open. She clearly wants to speak and is trying really hard to, so sit back and let her speak if that's what she wants to do. After actually letting her at least get a sentence or two in edgewise, ask her if it's ok to let Craig and Amelia in.

For future reference, I think the best option for any interactions with her during this encounter should be written in. Johnny needs to level up his empathy stat or something, holy damn.

First, you slyly change your Osgood’s contact information to Oswald. Then you offer your phone to her once again. You have to be patient! It’s the least you can do to make up for your spaghetti spillage...

“Here…” You get closer and extend it to her. She’s still looking down, but Ajna slowly moves her head back up when you get near, and stares at your phone. “Take your time…”
Ajna slowly grabs the phone out of your hands. You’re begging in your mind for her not to drop it again. You have to remain calm. Perhaps you need to create a better environment for her to relax in…? You decide to move away from her and give her some space.

Suddenly your phone starts ringing, making Ajna drop it exactly like you were afraid of! Now that will leave a mark! You have money to spare after Ka-Shing, so you’re not too bothered by this wholly expected turn of events.

“…I’ll answer if you don’t mind.” You slowly get closer to the insane asylum escapee and take your phone. You make sure to move away as quickly as possible.

It’s Amelia! Hey, that at least means she’s alright. What a relief! You politely ask Ajna for a second as you plan to answer. She doesn’t respond back at all, so it must be okay!

“J-Johnny! Are you okay?!” Amelia’s frantic voice cuts through the silent tension in the room.
“Yes… But I think I massively screwed up.” You murmur under your breath, hoping Ajna doesn’t hear you.
We massively screwed up! Wait, are you still in there?! I went to Craig for help but I couldn’t find him.” Why? Perhaps she thought you were in danger? She knows you’ve faced worse than this, come on!
“Just get back to my apartment and wait for my signal, okay?”

“What signal?”
“You will understand in time.” You're just going to call her. Hopefully she doesn’t misinterpret as hard as you did.
“Right! Be careful!”
“Bye…”

You hang up. What a nice little change of pace – someone who can actually answer you back!
Time to get back to the main conundrum. Ajna just keeps staring at you, not looking any different from when you got the phone call up to now. Her breathing is less heavy and more even, but that’s about it. You hand her your phone again…

“Sorry about that too…”
She slowly nods.

Took several minutes, but Ajna seems to be slowly typing something on your phone… She breathes in heavily a few times before gingerly passing you the phone.
Her message reads as follows:

“I’m sorry. Please don’t hurt me.”

…How do you respond?

>Write back “I wasn’t planning to. I’m sorry for what I did.”

We still have the basket of food somewhere, right? Let's see if we can't offer her something small to nibble on.

Also, I'm torn between what to do with Os[REDACTED]. A part of me wants to make him face the damage he's done, but I don't think it's appropriate to peg all of this on her. We need to learn more.

Also, there's absolutely no way she moved into this apartment by herself, someone HAD to have moved her in. I'm worried about who that could possibly be..

You decided to write back: “I wasn’t planning to. I’m sorry for what I did.” And pass the phone.
As she ends reading your message, her gaze moves to you – you cannot help but to nod. Her trembling starts slowing down, little by little, and her breathing eases up. She’s still wary of you, and with good reasons.

Oh right, didn’t you give her a food basket? Where was it again…? Near the main door of the apartment you see it on the ground, all the food somehow intact after the confused panic at the start. You approach the food and take it to the kitchen. You notice even her plates are plastic, nothing solid is unpacked. Why is she living in these depressing conditions?!

You come back to the living room. Your phone is on the ground away from her but in front of her general direction, giving you the impression she already left you a new message. Must have been easier for her to do without you right there with her. She stares at you with fear from her corner of the room. You pick up your phone and read her new message…

“Are you with them? With those eyes?”

Eyes…? Like entities’ eyes? So she was approached at some point, judging by how she could see Philonune without any flame on her. You knew it wasn’t going to be simple, but you weren’t expecting this. What did she go through between what Osgood did to her and now, that she’s traumatized enough to be approached by an entity? And she rejected them like you did the first time? There’s more going on here, and any answers out of her will take time, effort, and a lot of patience…

What do you write back?

>“I’m not sure what you’re talking about. More detail?”

You take the phone and write “What eyes are you talking about?” then pass it to her. You sit in front of her general direction and wait for her to answer. It took way less time to type her answer than before, but this is still an unacceptable speed. Despite this, it’s a speed you are forced to accept for the time being.

“They want me dead. Everything goes completely dark and they appear. They hate me now.” The message reads.
“I’m not associated with anybody who would be willing to hurt you. I just need more information.” You write back.

She takes a quick glance at the message, then she finally stars talking.
“Wa.. wa-wa— wa... wa…” She pushes her empty plastic cup towards you and gives you a desperate look. Reminds you of Nariko begging you for food, way back when she used to camp outside your apartment building.
“You want some water?”
She slowly nods, calming down. Having someone to communicate with must be helping her, no matter how slow going it is. Constance wasn’t this slow, but you did what you could just the same.
“Coming right up…”

In a fast travel, you arrive with her water… She slowly and carefully takes the cup from you and leaves it on the ground, then she crawls near the TV. She takes two small pill bottles from a box behind it, opens them up, and takes two pills from each one. Finally, she digests them and takes a good chunk of water too.
Her breathing starts to ease up juuuuuust a little. You’re so on edge you are able to notice the small change. As you do so, you start to wonder what could have possibly fucked her up hard enough to need pills at all. Did Yu Yan have to go through something like this to become the psychotic nutjob she used to be?

She crawls back to her corner and starts typing on the phone. Guess that’s all the talking she will do…

“The monster you invoke, what is it?” It reads. Well, she ain't that stupid.
“It’s my buddy. There are more of them out there, and they can be dangerous. We are working together to fight the bad ones.” You write back.

The message didn’t have the effect you expected, as her breathing starts to become erratic again. She sends you a new message.

“What do you want from me?”

How do you respond?

>“Whatever I wanted doesn’t matter now. I screwed up and I’m sorry. I hope we can start over.” Get up and bow formally.
>“To be a friendly neighbor. Guess that’s out of the question now… Or maybe not? I can bring you more food if you want.”
>“To be friends. Because being all alone in a place like this, with only pills and boxes around you, it isn’t good.”

“To be a friendly neighbor. Guess that’s out of the question now… Or maybe not? I can bring you more food if you want.” You write back.
She gives a quick glance at your message, looks confused for a moment, and then stares at you. It makes you feel uncomfortable in a different way than before. Even with this newfound emotion, it took some time for her to write the new message – the gaps are shrinking though, so it’s progress!

“Why did you do all that at the door?” The message reads.
“Because you spooked me.” You are honest. Aren’t you level 4 courage? How did this poor damaged girl end up scaring you enough for you to react that way?! Maybe it’s all the stress from the day imploding in that moment, and she simply happened to be collateral damage in your way…

Or you’re just a fucking retard. Who knows?

Ajna stares at you in disbelief after reading your new message, mouth open and all. You just scratch the back of your head. She writes a reply rather quickly now.

“Is that what you really want?” Your phone displays.
“Whatever I wanted doesn’t matter now. I screwed up and I’m sorry. I hope we can start over.” You say to her evenly. No more text bullshit.
“T… t… t… t… t… then…” She’s finally talking! She even formed a word! “Leave.
Oh.
Oh…

“B-b-b-but…”
“Leave… Leave… Leave…. Leave…!” Her raspy voice murmurs loudly. She clutches her head and makes a pained expression as well. Then she takes your phone, writes something quickly, and gives it back to you.

“And don’t tell anyone what happened!” The message reads.
Wait… She’s red as a tomato. Is it possible she’s just really embarrassed and this isn’t a pure act of rage?! Should you insist or leave once and for all!? Or maybe she’s really hates your guts, and doesn’t want to be involved with you?!

What’s the deal with all these girls in your life?! Why won’t they just get to the damn point with whatever they want from you?!

What do you do?

“I… Uhm… Alright, I’ll leave. Sorry for everything, I guess?”
She’s staring at you with an expression of despair you try extremely hard to not laugh or smile at. It reminds you of Amelia in a way – so freaking red, goddamn.
“Before I do though…” You give a quick glance around the place to find her phone or something. Nope, all there is are boxes. You find a pen though, so you take it and take the parfaits receipt from earlier and write your number on there. It won’t tell her anything important except your phone number, and that you had parfaits that day. “Here, that’s my number. If you need anything I’m a text away. You have a phone, right?”

She takes the piece of paper from you while one of her hands hides her face in shame. Ajna didn’t respond to your question, but she isn’t going to anyway.

“Right, right. I’ll leave now. I’m sorry for everything, Ajna! Hope things get better for you from now on.”
She just whimpers loudly. You flee the scene of your crime back to the safety of the lit hallway. Huh, time sure flies… It’s past sunset already.

Well, that was awkward! At least she doesn’t completely despise you like some other gentleman that won’t be named! Or maybe she does, and you are terrible at reading people.
Guess it’s time to go back home. You walk a few meters and you’re back! That was fast!

“Johnny!” The three girls react at the same time. They look incredibly worried.
“Tell me you didn’t just break that girl’s heart!” Yu Yan pipes up immediately.
“I handled it like a champ, the hell are you talking about?” You adjust your glasses.

“That’s totally a lie, right? I mean Amelia explained to us what happened and it didn’t sound any good.” Yu Yan doesn’t buy it. What, you being back in one piece isn’t proof enough for her?
“Don’t underestimate me. I thought you’d know better than that.” You shrug at her.
“I told you Johnny’s reliable!” Amelia finally relaxes and elbows Yu Yan in the side. “…But there’s no way I was expecting you to do something like that!” Her cheer gives way to bared teeth and a glare. It’s the least intimidating thing you’ve seen today.

You turn your attention to Nariko. “Ehem. Hey Nariko.”
Nariko tilts her head a little, showing confusion.
You rub the back of your neck. “I’m sorry about before.”
“Uh…?” She’s now completely confused. Way to go!

“If you really wanna apologize, just feed this little piggy.” Yu Yan mocks Nariko and grabs her stomach again, causing Nariko to turn a shade of red.
“Stop bullying Nariko!” Amelia is part of the anti-bully squad.
“…I do agree with the solution, though.” Nariko basically enjoys being bullied… What a monotone masochist!

But enough banter! All that tense back-and-forth between you and Ajna got you real hungry, and those parfaits weren’t enough! “Right, time for dinner…”

And so everyone ended up having one heck of a time, mainly Nariko rapidly devouring your food. Wasn’t Amelia supposed to have the appetite of a bear? Maybe the parfait was enough for her.
You explained to the trio what more or less transpired a few minutes ago. It’s late; it’s time to hit the bed for the day. You feel a little bad for the girls having to share a room, but there isn’t any more space in this apartment. At least Amelia has her own bed now.

What a ride it has been! Tomorrow you can go to classes if you choose to. In the morning you will have to make a decision!

Hell, you haven’t gone to school in a while. Now that you think about it, how many classes have you missed?! It’s better if you don’t think about it; it will probably go away on its own. Anyway, time to move your strings and make your way to school.

After preparing everyone’s meals for the day, you instructed the hobo duo that if they feel like it the two can visit Ajna – and you let them know to be super careful with her. Yu Yan wasn’t very happy about being woke up so early, but Nariko paid no attention to all. You trust Nariko to do it, and Yu Yan to not fuck it up – they are kind of useful as a duo in that sense.

You and your sister are ready to go to school…

On the walk to the usual station, you feel the need to ask your sister. “Did he call?” Your sister knows exactly who you’re talking about.
She sighs and looks glum. “…Yeah. I answered and said I was spending time here, and he didn’t seem mad. I don’t think he has a clue about what happened.”
“Even after we raided his house?” You find this hard to believe. If Joel is as much of a controlling parent as you know he is, he would have checked Amelia’s room and found her out by now. So why didn’t he…?

“I’m not lying. He turned into a control freak after Mom… but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t come tired from work. I’m afraid for later though…” She finally realized he was a weirdo, huh? You’re fairly sure parents aren’t supposed to be that stifling of their children. Then again your father barely did anything, and your mom was okay.
“Keep me updated. Don’t hesitate to call me anytime; I’ll have an extra eye on my phone just for you.” You reassure your sister.
“O.K.!” She seems happy for the support in this trying time.

You two went to the station and then to your separate ways. You are hopeful that nothing bad will happen to your sister, with that bear of hers looking out for her when you can’t. Mmm…
You’re starting to worry about people a lot lately. Is this part of growing up? It sure sucks, whatever it is.

For some inexplicable reason, you feel some tension in the air today… At the station you find none other than Scarlet! Was she waiting for you? Who told her you’d be here? You haven’t been to school in a while – has she been here every morning waiting for the day you would finally show up? She can’t possibly be that desperate! …Or do you just have an active imagination?

“I’m doing good! You can’t brush positivity that easily from this girl, you know?” You disagree after having seen her in her depressed state. “It’s great that you’re back!”

“Thanks, waiting for someone?”
“Yeah, Sammy! She’s always late.” That’s her friend, right? You have no clue who half these people are sometimes… At least she wasn’t doing what you were thinking.
“Then I’ll see you later.” You walk by her towards the rest of the station. Don’t wanna be late!
“W-wait! Didn’t you read my messages? What do you think?”

“Sorry, I had no time. I was busy all weekend.” You did have time, but ‘busy’ is putting it rather mildly.
“T-that’s alright…” Scarlet is a little sad. Why is every girl around you being sad for some reason or another these past few days?
“Don’t be sad. We can talk about them later.”
“Hooray!” She leaps a good quarter meter into the air. Has she been working out? “Just one thing! Don’t accept Terry’s proposal, okay?” She’s serious all of a sudden.

“Uh… Alright?” Your bad feeling intensifies. Whatever the source of the foreboding vibe you’re getting, it must be nowhere else but your school…

Sadly this is all we have for this week’s thread! Thanks for playing!
