>You are Princess Zelda, heir to the fallen throne of Hyrule

>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict

>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon

>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

Lynna sits down with you as the morning sun is just barely above the horizon. Her hands fidget at the edge of her dress, her eyes down and contemplative. Finally she works up the courage to begin, telling you, “I... would like to help you, Princess... but...”

“But?”

“...I know it must sound silly hearing it come from someone older than you, but I’m just not sure that I can keep up with all of you. I do want to help, really, but... what is there that I can really do to help you, especially when things are going to get all that more dire?” She looks to the Gale Boomerang. “...I guess what I’m trying to say is that I don’t want to be a liability for you and your allies.”

You give her a calm and gentle smile. “You have proven yourself capable twice now, Lynna. I’ve seen you as a dependable ally and friend in both cases. Even when faced with things above your league, you’ve demonstrated considerable courage. I do not believe you would be a liability for us.”

“I say that because I’m not sure I can really keep up this pace... I don’t know if I can stay even close to this level you all are at. I’m... I’m no warrior, Princess. And from the sound of things, you need one...”

“It is not a warrior I need, Lynna. It is an ally... and a friend.” you tell her calmly. “It was not an experienced warrior that solved those puzzles. It was you. There are more skills than just combat, and even if the time comes for that, you need not be on the front lines. Being there to help us recover, keeping your distance from direct combat, is more than enough.”

“Even so... what if your foes realize the difference in experience between myself and your other allies? I’d become a target, and someone would need to cover me. I’d be putting others at risk...” She looks down again, hands still fidgeting.

You bite your lip gently. “...Do you want me to be honest, Lynna?” The young woman nods. “I completely understand your concerns. I am aware that you have not had the experience we have had. I know you are vulnerable. And I will not blame you if you turn down my offer. But if you do accept it, I want you to know that we all will be looking out for each other. I will be ready to help you if you need it. Further, I will not force you to accompany us into dangerous dungeons. This is your choice.”

You notice that she can’t help but smile as she hears you reassure her. “Well... I’m not the only one I need to convince.”

You quickly realize what she means. “Have you brought this up with your father?”

“I’ve been trying to think on how best to phrase it for him... tell him in a way that won’t have him worrying all the time.”

“A bit of a rehearsal, then?” you ask with a soft, friendly chuckle.

“Partially.” she admits.

“I... do not blame him either. If my mother were still alive I doubt she’d be all that happy with me running off like this trying to save Hyrule. I know that even Impa worries about me, even now. Even if you are older than I am, I know that the both of them would feel the same way if I were twice my age. Still, I leave this decision to you.”

Lynna looks up, taking a deep breath. “...I think I can agree to help you. I’d like to know where you’re traveling to next, though. Maybe that can help put my father at ease.”

“We can discuss our options with everyone, him included. Perhaps he can give us some pointers on some of the places we should head next.”

Lynna nods. “That’s a good idea.”

The both of you return to Lynna’s home, gathering your allies together and sitting everyone down to look over the options you have. The Zora Colony up north, a return to the Gerudo to the west, north-east to try and reach the Great Sky Temple, the Shadow Temple near Kakariko, and lastly Snowpeak Fortress to the north-west. Lynna’s father thinks over what your group is trying to do. “The Fortress is very dangerous, kids. Capable as you may be, I don’t think it’s something you should take lightly. And even if ye have gone through one of those Temples before, wouldn’t risk encountering the restless dead in the Shadow Temple.”

“Well, guess that makes two of us.” Horon comments, trying his best not to sound nervous. “I think we should try some other places first, before the Shadow Temple. I’d say Sky Temple would be the best bet for what’s next.”

“With one of us aside, the Gerudo will be more than willing to welcome us back and help with some things.” Aveli comments. “So if there’s anything we need, it might be a good idea to head there soon.”

“The Great Sky Temple may present new dangers.” Sheik adds in. “While I am sure the Zora will be quite grateful for what you have done for them, Termina.”

Lynna nods. “I guess I’d agree to that. Dad, what do you know of the Colony?”

“Was established a bit before the War from my recollection, served as an inportant defensive point for the Zora when some factions and warlords tried to pressure them into joining. And when the big ol’ beast showed up, was one of the rallying points for everyone. It’s why it’s so close to Snowpeak. At the very least, if yer going to the Fortress, visit the Colony first.” Albano explains. “Sure the Zora will be mighty friendly towards ye.”

>A. We can stock up for supplies at the Colony and then head towards Snowpeak
>B. Seeing the Gerudo first should prove useful
>C. I agree with Horon. The Great Sky Temple was where we were planning to go first anyway, plus I am curious about the Golden Knight

“The most reasonable course of action then would be to head to the Colony first, and if properly prepared, we can head to Snowpeak Fortress.” you tell everyone, rubbing your chin. “The Great Sky Temple could come after that, and then either a return visit to the Gerudo or a trip to the Shadow Temple, but most importantly, we go for the Colony first, Snowpeak second.”

“Well... sounds like yer mind’s made up then.” Albano comments.

“Dad, I’d like to accompany them to the Zora Colony.” Lynna tells her father with a calm but determined tone. “I... did help Miss Termina over at Zora’s Domain. I’d like to help them out there too.”

Albano raises an eyebrow suspiciously. He seems to understand she wants to do more than that... and he’s clearly none too thrilled about that idea. “Yer going to be heading fairly far from home.”

“I’ll be in safe company.” she states, nodding over to you. “And I won’t be doing anything rash, I promise.”

He grumbles lowly. “Yer not going to take no for an answer are ye?”

“I want to help, dad. I know my limits, and I won’t be doing anything I know I can’t handle. I’ll be safe.”

The man looks over to you. “...Can ye promise ye’ll look after my girl, Miss Termina?”

He lets out a relenting sigh. “Best of luck to ye all. And Lynna... you stay safe.”

“I will, dad.”

Your group makes its way to the outskirts of the town, Keaton leaping out of his mask. “Hee-hee-ho! Well child, you have gathered quiet the group, haven’t you?”

“All the closer to saving Hyrule.” you comment proudly. “We will be heading towards the Zora Colony up north next. Is there something we should know before heading there?”

“Perhaps. Temperature may prove detrimental to your progress; I will be able to tolerate it well, but for those of you without a fur coat, I would recommend finding a way to keep warm. That lantern you possess can help, but it will run out of fuel eventually.” His gaze seems to target Lynna and Aveli specifically. “Furthermore, the Zora of the north have ways of keeping warm, so those of you who need it should gather up some spending money.”

“Hm, I did purchase that cloak...” you mention.

“I can create fireballs, remember.” Horon mentions proudly. “I should be good.”

“I’m sure we’ll be fine once we’re there.” Lynna adds in.

Spend what we have on additional cloaks at least, we can gather funds for better options along the way. Horon's fire is good to set something with, but doesn't seem sustainable for constant use. Also he still needs to fight with it.

We should be able to cover for anyone who can't spare the 50 rupees right now, or maybe we can all exchange some funds around if we need more.

“As good as having some fire may be, it would not hurt to have just a little more protection from the cold. A few more Rupees would help, and we can pick them up along the way.”

“Hee-hee-ho! I may be able to help you with that.” Keaton comments to you, size increasing again. “Climb on.”

https://youtu.be/IKMf5CQmzvs

As you, Sheik, and Lynna get on the Keaton, Aveli picks up Horon, and all of you head off. Like a bolt of lightning, you streak across Hyrule Field, Sheik clinging on tightly. You notice Keaton start to head towards a shaggy bunch of grass as you pass the entrance to the Lost Woods, the fox spirit increasing speed. “Get ready to catch them.” it recommends. It takes a leap at the grass and then, much to your collective surprise, spirals around it, a ferocious gust shredding the grass... flinging Rupees into the air!

The three of you on Keaton’s back catch a few, Aveli and Horon doing what they can to catch some as well. Keaton heads off once more after you’ve collected some, jolting to another shaggy patch of tall grass closer to Lon Lon Ranch. And again, the spiraling trick shreds the grass, leaving more Rupees for you to collect. You make it past Castle Town once more as you travel north, Keaton going after one more patch as you spot mountains in the distance.

In total, you’re able to pick up 46 Rupees each, with Horon and Aveli getting 25 and 11 respectively. Though it seems this last bit of commotion has attracted some unwanted attention...

“Peahat, 6 o’clock!” Aveli shouts out.

“Keaton, let’s take that thing down!” you declare as the monster starts closing in on you. You affix the Crossbow Repeater as Sheik tosses a few needles at the beast, Aveli just barely avoiding the monster as it swerves at her, but getting close enough that Horon is able to hit its underside with a fireball.

Right as it starts to turn and go after the two of them, Keaton turns and swerves back and charges at it. You lock your eyes on to the underside of the monster and with your Crossbow ready, you start firing at it. Bolts jet through the air, one after the other in rapid succession, all lodging themselves into the monster before it even has a chance to really react. It crashes to the ground hard, its spinning, blade-like leaves digging into the dirt and slowing. When they finally stop, the beast breaks apart and disappears in a cloud of blackened mist... leaving behind, to your surprise, a Piece of Heart!

“Horon, I think you should take that one. It is all yours.” you tell the boy, Keaton slowing and approaching him and Aveli.

“Got it! Thanks!”

“So, shall we be off?” you ask Keaton.

As you head towards the mountains, Keaton following a stream trailing out from them, you notice a lot of darker clouds in the distance. Seems like there may be a storm out that way. Checking your map, you see that the Colony shouldn’t be too far off. You end up traveling up a mountain path, similar to the one near Zora’s Domain... and you quickly start to feel the temperature drop as Keaton swiftly moves closer to your destination. You notice Aveli start to trail behind you a bit.

“D-do Zora really live up here?” the girl asks you, a slight shiver in her voice. “Th-the water must be really cold, how can they stand it?”

“They have found their ways, child.” Keaton calls to her, finally slowing as you approach a cave with an ornately decorated entrance, shells and tapered blue cloth around the reinforced entrance, with a pair of streams flowing from either side of the land pathway. “This will lead you to the interior domain.” he tells you all, letting you off. “You cannot miss it. But, child, be sure to watch your step.”

“Thank you, Keaton. We shall.” The five of you enter the cave, a calm, bluish light guiding your way. You hear a the subtle sound of music coming from the cavern, almost drowned out from the flowing water on either side of you. For a brief moment, out of the corner of your eye, you catch a glimpse of a River Zora in one of the streams. The creature quickly drops its head back into the water as you turn yours to try and see it, but you do notice it seems to follow you for a brief time, before heading further up-stream.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qh33z5NFJSY

As you make it out of the cave, you come across a huge lake, with a few large islands in the middle of it... and curiously, there are structures on the islands. Zora structures, no doubt, but made of wood and stone and even straw. Even more curiously, a large number of birds seem to fly overhead... and even a few seem to be scattered among the village. Crossing a bridge over one of the streams, a pair of guards come into view at the bridge to the closest island. Zora... but stockier, hardier ones, both of them with ornamental spears. Curiously, though their builds are considerably thicker, their fins seem less solid and fleshy, almost wing-like. “Greetings, travelers. Business or pleasure?”

“Er, pardon?” Horon blurts out.

>A. Business. I am Termina, and this is Lynna, we were at Zora’s Domain a few days ago...

You give the Zora a polite bow. “Business. I am Termina, and this is Lynna. We were at Zora’s Domain a few days prior-”

They both let out a gasp. “You’re the ladies who saved the Domain?!”

Lynna rubs the back of her neck bashfully. “W-well, Termina did most of the work-”

“Please, please come in! By Nayru we’re all in your debt.” they urge, guiding your group towards the bridge.

“Quite the warm welcome.” Lynna comments with a soft chuckle.

“If you do not mind my asking, have there been any developments here recently?” you ask the guards accompanying you.

“We’re finally making preparations for return. Ah, your timing is perfect, Miss Termina.” the one who greeted you explains.

“Hey, uh, what’s with all the birds?” Horon questions, noticing a couple perched on the sides of the bridge.

“We’ve been using them to send messages. Many have proven valuable to us, a few are even fairly domesticated. Travelers have loved the comfortable suits we’ve been able to make from their feathers.”

Ah, so Keaton was right. Still, interesting that the Zora are relying on birds for such a thing. You come across many Zora at the shore of the closest island as you’re guided closer. “Our King should be notified of your arrival.” the other Zora tells you, motioning towards a large pathway in the center of the island. In the distance you see a much more ornate building, one made of marble and pearl. “Up there is where he resides. We shall send word immediately.”

The first Zora lets out a whistle, a large bird flying towards him and perching on his arm. He whispers to it softly, then lets the bird take flight. “Oh this is wonderful. Miss Termina, do tell, what business do you have coming to the Colony?”

“Our group is headed towards Snowpeak, and we figured here would be the best place to stock up. We should at least get a few cloaks, if nor more insulated gear.”

“...Snowpeak? It’s rather dangerous up there. Oh, unless... are you all by any chance going after the monsters up there?”

You nod. “It may be one reason. Do you know much about it?”

“Our King will be able to tell you more, but if it is supply you need, the market is towards your left.” he motions his arm, showing you a bridge to another island, busier than the main one you’re on, a few Hylians there, even a Gerudo, to your and Aveli’s surprise. “He should be ready shortly. He will want to thank you properly.”

“Let us not delay then. We should meet with the Zora King.” You head forward, thanking the guards once more. Several more Zora seem to start to notice your group, a number of audible murmurings around you... most of them quite positive. You cross several rather ornate, but interestingly designed houses along the way. The Zora here seem to have quite a different design philosophy than the ones responsible for the Domain.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4ZkklcIfTo

As you finally reach the King’s chambers, flanked by a half-dozen guards, you see a tall, red Zora seated on a throne. He seems much younger than the old Zora you saw in the Domain, but there’s a type of wisdom in his eyes that you recall seeing only a handful of times. He’s clearly a rather experienced man. The Zora King stands, and you quickly give him a respectful bow, the rest of your group following suit. “So, it is you two I have to thank for the restoration of the Domain to us. You have my eternal gratitude. I am King Ralis III, leader of the Zora. Miss Termina, Miss Lynna, and presumed allies, to what do I owe the pleasure of your arrival today?”

“We are traveling to Snowpeak Fortress, with plans to reach Snowpeak Tower. We come to your colony for supply and to seek any information you are willing to give us on the area.” you explain to the King, finally standing.

Even as you stand though, you see that the Zora King is massive, a head taller than even Zas. “Snowpeak is a quite dangerous place. The cold there is still rather unpleasant, even to us. Still, we can help you with your quest, so long as you can tell us what you plan to do there.”

“We are on a quest to save all of Hyrule, your Majesty. The darkness that nearly wiped out your Domain still lurks in these lands. A strange man with masks, he has been traveling across all of Hyrule working to bring forth corruption. My allies can all attest to this. The Goron, the Gerudo, Hylians and Fairies, and even most recently the Great Deku Tree of the Lost Woods.”

The King frowns but nods as those around him begin to chat amongst themselves quietly. “So these rumors are true... then this would match up with what we have been experiencing recently.”

“Don’t tell me he’s already been here.” Aveli grumbles out. You notice her shiver slightly. Even Lynna seems a little cold, now that you’re looking.

“Here no, but from Snowpeak we have been experiencing freak weather. Snow and hail coming from that direction. Though this area may be colder than our home down south, it is not yet winter, so the weather is rather odd. Nothing that has quite caused us need to leave, but odd.”

“If you can help us prepare for that, we would be more than willing to look into that for you, King Ralis.” You look over to Lynna and Aveli. “Not all of us are adapted well to the cold either. That should probably be our biggest concern.”

“Ah, but of course. I’ll see to it that you can get something to keep warm.” he states understandingly.

“Though on the subject of the cold, King Ralis, I have read before that a Sage once resided in Snowpeak Fortress, one dedicated to the study of Ice. With your revelation, the two may be connected. Do you know anything about such a person?”

The Zora King takes a moment to recall. “Any living in that Fortress should have been driven out long ago, but if this is related to such a person, I do recall an old, wise hermit guiding some of the war effort against Ganon, but I do not think he would still be there... but if so, I would urge even greater caution.”

“What more can you tell about him? What was he like?”

“From what I recall, a reasonable if driven man. He seemed to have some connection to Hyrule’s Royal Family, but given what happened to them... he may have tried to bury himself in other work. Still, I would be surprised if he is still in there... or if he is, he’s still among the living.”

You find yourself glancing away. Maybe he needs to know... though from the sound of things, you would be better off waiting until this is over. Still, the way he phrased that is rather ominous. “King Ralis, do you mean to say he may be a phantom of some sort?”

“I wouldn’t discount the possibility. A man like that may not even let death stop him from completing his work... and may have fallen into a trap by the one you believe forced us from our homes. Be careful, Miss Termina. We will help you and your allies prepare, but we can only do that much.”

“It is more than enough, your Highness. Thank you for this, and you have my word that we will get to the bottom of this, for the sake of the Zora and for all of Hyrule.”

Glad to hear!

Okay, we're back!

>>2833755
You head over to the shopping district of the Colony, greeted by several thankful Zora as you’re guided towards a shop. The shopkeeper is an older Zora, who welcomes you all with a friendly smile, a bird perched by the shop’s counter. “Welcome, welcome. I recieved word about your little trip to Snowpeak. I have a few things that could come in handy, and at King Ralis’ request, at a substantial discount.”

“You are too kind.” you tell her humbly.

“We have a selection of cloaks, a few insulated doublets, quill-insulated tunics, and a special set of tools that will help keep the cold away.” she states, guiding you all over. She notices the shivering Aveli and Lynna. “Hmm... not used to these climates, are you?”

“W-we get bitingly cold nights in the desert sometimes, but days are usually a little warmer.” Aveli tells her. “J-just not really used to it, I guess.”

“Ah, but there’s more than just cold air here. Higher amounts of moisture make it stick to you harder. If you go through the snow, you’ll feel it even more. Especially in that armor, it will get colder quicker.” She taps the pauldron on Aveli’s armor. “You will need some way of keeping insulation better, and will need to take care for anything that tries to freeze you.”

“S-so you’re s-saying I should try for a different set?” she asks.

“Perhaps. If you would rather prefer to keep your armor, though, we have a circlet enhanced with magic that will keep you from the harshest of cold, but your armor will still be vulnerable to freezing.” She looks to Lynna next, noticing the girl’s legs shaking. “And you, Miss Lynna, should probably cover your legs in some way. Marching through snow in sandals is... inadvisable.”

She looks over to you. “W-what do you think, Termina?”

>A. You’ll need the full protection, Lynna. Get the tunic and trousers (25 Rupees)
>B. A cloak should be enough, don’t you think? (5 Rupees)
>C. Some warmer pants, maybe? (15 Rupees)
>D. I would think the circlet would be best (10 Rupees)
>E. Get the doublet (10 Rupees)
>F. I should probably get something for myself... what else is in stock?
>G. Something else?

Costs are for Lynna, but also there if you want to get anything.
>>
>>2836220
>A. You’ll need the full protection, Lynna. Get the tunic and trousers (25 Rupees)
>I'll get a set too.

How dangerous is the path to where we are going? Perhaps changing out of the armor into full protection until we get where were going is advisable. Is Snowpeak itself better or worse about that?

Or maybe fighting with less protection from attacks and more from cold is simply more worthwhile? How about Armor + Circlet, and also our cloak that can be cast aside in combat?
>>
>>2836220
>A.
>G.
Lynna should get the full set, we should get a circlet, and Aveli should get a circlet at the very least. Suggest a cloak and circlet for Sheik too, and maybe Horon.

Also backing asking about any dangers.
>>
>>2836280
I think anyone who would wear armor should sport a circlet and cloak, with the cloak being easily removed if needed. Lynna gets the full set, and Sheik... we should ask her what her needs are.

“Well, just to be on the safe side, you’ll need the full protection, Lynna. Go for the set, the tunic and trousers.” you tell her. “Hmm... I should probably get something extra myself. Aveli, Horon, Sheik, what about you all? I am thinking on getting a circlet.” You then turn to the shopkeep. “If you do not mind my asking, would you have any other recommendations for where we are going? How dangerous might the path there be? Assuming the worst, what should we prepare for in terms of both environment and monsters?”

The Zora places her hands on her hips, fins waving slightly as she looks up, thinking. “Well, if this would be winter conditions you were going into, I would try to keep as warm as possible. Some monsters and even wild animals may see any slow ones as targets, and things like the Ice Keese especially will be a threat.”

“Not taking any chances then.” Aveli states, putting down money for the full quill tunic set and the circlet.

“Eh, I should be fine keeping warm, but a bit more magical protection shouldn’t hurt.” Horon comments, throwing down a few Rupees for a circlet himself.

You glance over to the Sheikah girl. “Sheik, how about you? I know you’re fairly well protected with your outfit, but you should at least try to keep warm in some way.”

“Very well.” she replies, getting a cloak and circlet for herself.

“So, with all that set, is there anything else you might be able to help us with, ma’am? What about Snowpeak itself?”

“The monsters inside will prove quite dangerous. They are well-adapted to the cold, and rumor has it they are quite vicious. I would recommend having some way to keep them at a distance.”

Any places that sell potions or arrows, or crossbow bolts especially.” May help to get more bolts, since there is a good chance you could run out more quickly than normal.

“Down the street, there is a weapons shop that may be of use to you. Across from it, the bar and potions shop.”

“Bar... and potions shop?” Aveli questions. “Seems a little different. I can guess why you’d combine the two, but, any reason for that?”

“Started off as a garum business that expanded to other foods. Run by a couple brothers, Mikau and Japas. Careful if you want to try some of our foods there, they can be... an acquired taste.” she tells you.

“Weapons shop should be the best choice, then. Let us head there.” You thank the shopkeep and head out after everyone gets a chance to change their clothes and gear, following her directions to the weapons shop, Aldin’s Arms. A more rustic-looking building than before. The owner is a younger Zora man, though still someone with a lot of experience behind him... and you spot to the counter next to him a tiny little Zora girl who keeps slightly jumping up to poke her head above the counter.

“Well well, you must be this Termina lady I’ve heard so much about. What brings you here?”

“Preparation, mostly. We wish to be ready for Snowpeak Fortress.” you reply as you look around. You spot some arrows, a good number of bolts, oh, but more importantly, you see a larger quiver. In addition, there seems to be a torch. That may come in handy.

“I take it that’s caught your eye, huh? Well, normally that’s priced at a hundred, but for you, and for what you’ve done for us, I can knock it down to 30.”

You see out of the corner of your eye Horon checking on a few strangely designed wooden shields, triangular and oddly kite-like. “...How much for these?”

“Hm? Oh, the boarding shields. Hah, some of our younger folk have found them useful traversing the higher slopes in winter. They can even slide across the water for a short bit of time. Even made a bit of a sport out of it.” the Zora man explains.

“Buy some!” the girl pipes in. “Buy 12!”

“T-twelve may be a bit much for them, Lauta, haha!” he laughs out. “Still, I could lower it down to 10 for-”

“I’ll take three.” Horon exclaims, forking over 30 Rupees.

>A. It may not hurt. I’ll take one as well (10 Rupees)

You gather up a few bolts and the larger quiver, placing them down on the counter and handing over the money needed. You look at Horon curiously. “Why do you need three?”

[Rupees: 132/500]

“A few may come in handy for us. Plus if we can use them to travel across the slopes, having a pair extra should be helpful.” he explains.

You give him an understanding nod... but then immediately become suspicious. You recall what he did back at Death Mountain. “...You’re not thinking on using them as weapons again, are you? Horon, please...”

“Only if absolutely necessary, promise.” Horon states, holding his hands up in innocence.

“They do have a torch, you know.” you point out. “...Actually, does anyone want to get that? I think it may come in handy at the very least, and even if I don’t-”

“Ooh, great idea Termina.” Horon runs over and grabs it, putting five more Rupees down as payment.

“...He’s not thinking of starting a bonfire in the fortress, is he?” Lynna asks Sheik quietly.

“I do wonder.” she responds dryly.

“Thank you very much!” the little Zora girl exclaims excitedly.

“Thank you both for your time. We will be off.”

“Please come again!” the girl shouts out to you.

You head across the street, towards the potion shop... well, that’s quite the name. “‘Cures For What Ales You’?” you read aloud.

“Sounds like my kind of place.” Aveli adds with a chuckle.

As you all head in, you see the arrangement of the shop is... unique. A bar to the left of you, with several tables in the middle, with a selection of potions towards the back. And the place seems rather lively, a few Zora and Hylians drinking together. Ah, and there is that Gerudo lady again, at the bar, ordering a round of drinks... after having cleared a few already. Aveli looks at her curiously. “Hrmn... think she’s a merchant. She does look familiar.”

“I will check with the potions.” you tell everyone, passing through. Sheik and Lynna follow you, Aveli walking over to the Gerudo.

The Zora at the counter welcomes you... with an odd question, not really looking at you as he shines a bottle. “What’s the damage and how many need a cure?”

“P-pardon?”

“For trying the squab sauce. We keep telling you Hylians that it’s strong, but-” He finally looks over, noticing your confusion. “Oh, here for other business then?”

“...Squab sauce?” Lynna asks, her face wincing slightly. “Sea squab is poisonous, like most pufferfish. Even down in my town it’s only ever done seasonally in the fugu, and that can be deadly if not prepared properly. Why... why are you making sauce out of it?”

“Type of garum.” he explains. “Fermented, removes most of the poison, but leaves a tiny bit that has a kick to it. Hylians keep trying it to show they’re ‘tough.’” he grumbles out in an annoyed tone. “Doesn’t agree with you folk all that well, so my brother’s had me develop a cure. But enough about that, you buying something?”

You clear your throat. “We are headed towards Snowpeak... might you have something that can help with the cold?”

The Zora raises one of his eyebrows. “Well, smart that you’re coming here instead over to my brother.” He leans in closer. “Never trust what they say about alcohol, it only makes you feel warm, it actually gets you colder. But... maybe. Lemme see if I’ve got it fresh...”

Well, seems you’re in luck. You hope. Not sure you like what he means by “fresh.”

Yes but poison wouldn't work well in the cold due to slower metabolism. And if we are facing a monster made of ice it would be quite useless.

We really should stock on fire arrows or at least easy to set on fire ones.... maybe some oil ir4 alcohol we can throw at a boss and then set on fire?

Not a bad idea, but then it'd be able to hit and run into us while being on fire which isn't great either. Making flames sticky might also burn something we don't want to.

Also, types of poison may be usable against more normal targets, but certain monsters like the undead or elemental creatures will be more or less immune to it. Fire may indeed prove more effective.

And with that said, we're back!

The Zora comes back with an odd-looking brownish red drink in a bottle. “This might be a little strong, but it’s sure to keep any among you nice and warm. The Spiced Elixer. We usually have to import the ingredients for this, most don’t grow well up here, but I’d be more than willing to part with it.”

“...Spiced how, exactly?” Lynna questions.

“Turmeric, lots of ginger, boiled pepper juice, and Warm Darner mixed in with condensed coconut milk and cider all mixed in to a Red Potion.” he explains. “Warms you up and replenishes your strength all at once.”

Lynna seems to be forcing herself to smile respectfully at the Zora man, but you swear she looks like she’s about to scream. Even Shiek seems to view the concoction... skeptically. To put it mildly. You’d have to admit that the ingredients do not... sound the most appetizing, but perhaps it will be fine.

“...You would not be adverse towards someone trying such a thing first, would you? I do not doubt your skill in making it, but I am rather curious. I have not had a Red Potion turned into such an elixer before. I intend to buy still, but... may I?” Sheik looks at you and slowly shakes her head, eyes wide.

“You’re smart, kid.” He pushes the bottle towards you. “Don’t knock it back all at once. Half at most if you want to drink properly.”

https://youtu.be/eP6sULJq1I4

You do as he instructs. You’re hit with a surprisingly soothing bit of warmness. Nothing too terrible, but something that feels more like a kind of... tea, almost. You can barely taste the fruity flavor, like it was tea brewed in a pot that made jam. Aaaand then it starts to hit you. There’s... a kick to it. Your eyes start to water slightly. It has a STRONG aftertaste. Ginger and pepper. If you were out in the snow, this would definitely be warming you up. But... suddenly it feels like you’re up at Death Mountain again. Hot hot HOT.

You manage to gulp it down and gasp for air. Each breath you take of the chilled air seems to soothe your mouth a bit. Sheik seems like she’s about ready to catch you if you fainted. The heat in your mouth finally passes... and you do feel a bit warmer all over “I... think I can manage that.”

“Wasn’t too bad then? Good, good.” He refills the bottle from the sip you took. “60 for the whole thing.”

You hand over 60 Rupees. And now you’ve got an extra [Bottle] filled with the Spiced Elixer! Lynna keeps smiling, though she’s quite clearly concerned. “...No side effects?”

“I think I’m going to be tasting that for a while, but I’m good. It’s... strangely eneregizing. I... wouldn’t exactly drink it recreationally however.”

You then notice the sound of chanting. “GO! GO! GO! GO!”

Aveli seems to have gotten into an arm wrestling contest with the other Gerudo lady there. The both of them seem to be struggling against each other. You then notice a few Zora and Hylian men beside them rubbing their arms, heads hung in defeat, Horon looking at all of them with equal amounts of pity and worry.

You roll your eyes and smile. Ah, best to let Aveli have her fun. You’re sure she’ll be fine. Instead, you return your attention to the Zora. “While I believe we are sufficiently stocked for the time being, I must admit I am curious, what other elixers do you sell? Do you sell regular potions as well?”

“Of course. Red, Green, and Blue. Also have Chilling Elixers to keep the heat away, they caught a fine price before the Domain was evacuated. Enduring Elixers will toughen you up a bit. And there’s the Gold Elixer that will keep you focused, able to hit harder and quicker. Oh, and Chateau Romani is served at the bar, specialty thanks to Lon Lon Ranch down South. It’s like the Elixers I have. And of course, a few cures for poisoning and things to help you get over a hangover.” he answers. “I base most of them off a Red Potion anyway, since the Blue and Green ones don’t have as hardy a base.”

“It would be useful to have a few on hand later on.” Sheik comments.

You give the Zora a respectful bow. “Thank you for your time, sir. We will be back soon.”

“You kids take care.” he bids.

You start to walk towards Aveli, Lynna and Sheik following. Seems the young Gerudo girl is still trying her best at arm wrestling the older lady. “Ghh... j-just... a little... more...”

“You’re strong, Draggai! But you’re ten years too young!” she shouts out, then yells as she pushes her arm down as hard as she can. Aveli tries her best to push back, but it’s not enough. Her arm slams into the wooden bar... hard enough that it dents into the wood. There are cheers as the older Gerudo stands up, ruffling Aveli’s blonde hair. “Not bad for someone at a disadvantage like this, Draggai. You’re above even my kids. Keep it up.”

You notice Aveli glare at her, but only briefly. She gets up, nods respectfully, and walks away. Horon approaches her cautiously. “W-well... nice try on that, Aveli.” the boy comments.

She nods wordlessly, looking over to you. She seems... frustrated, and frustrated at more than just losing at arm wrestling. You give her a friendly smile. “I believe we are ready. Is everything okay?”

“I’ll be fine.” she replies... a bit more dismissively than you’re used to. Still, you cannot delay any further. You all head out of the village, a few Zora wishing you well as you do, and follow a north-west path towards the snowy mountains.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-Iz_O6351U

The temperature starts to drop substantially as you climb, the brown dirt and green grass beneath you giving way to patches of snow. Even with the sun high in the noon sky, there’s still a chill you feel as you go higher, but thankfully you’re all fairly well covered. Horon tosses a few fireballs ahead of you once the snow gets thicker. “Well, looks like these still work. And they do keep the temperature up.”

“Please do not use fireballs as a toy.” Sheik remarks to him.

You notice in the distance a group of white wolves running across the snow. Your first instinct is to prepare to defend yourself, but then you notice they’re not running towards you, but... away from something. There’s a low rumble ahead.

You motion for everyone to get down low. The low rumbling gets louder... it’s a massive creature stomping down the mountains. You approach slowly, stealthily, but ready to sneak up on the thing that’s scared the wolves if things come to it. You bring your crossbow out, repeater attached and ready to fire. The low rumbling gets louder, closer... and then it stops. You look around, trying to find where the source was. Your ears catch the sound of a bow being drawn... a massive one. Not quite close to you, but close enough that the wolves are still running. A massive arrow flies through the air and strikes one of the wolves... freezing it as it is lodged into the animal’s side.

The rumbling starts up again... and you all see the massive, galloping frame that could only belong to a Lynel stomp towards its kill. The creature slows once it gets close to the frozen carcass. It’s not noticed you... not yet, that is. Maybe you should not pick a fight with it.

Yeah let's do what we can to get out of there quickly. If noticed, Keaton can perhaps run as a distraction.

I think we could win... but even if it dropped a full heart I don't think it's worth doing right now.

You gulp as quietly as you can. You all could probably take this monster down... but you are sure that it isn’t going to pose a threat to anyone for now. Seems to be minding its own business. Still, it is clearly not going to let you pass without a fight. And you are not sure fighting it is the best option right now. You motion for Sheik to come closer. “We need a plan to get past it. Sheik, Keaton, any suggestions?”

“I may be able to move around it, but we will need to move quickly.” she replies.

‘Hee-hee-ho! My speed is superior to that beast’s. I can can carry three of you across safely.’

“Hmm... so Aveli could go with you, or-”

“...Sheik.” the Gerudo girl calls to. You and Sheik look over to her, and see her hand over the Belt of Wind. “You’ll be able to make better use of this for now.”

She takes the belt hesitantly, looking back and asking, “Are you sure...?”

“Yeah. You can carry me, or Horon with you. We’re lighter and should make your job easier.”

“...I understand. I’ll carry you.”

“Ladies, we better do this quick.” Horon states. “That Lynel has its kill, and it might notice us soon.”

“Keaton, let’s go!”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRgKyyYAmkc

The fox spirit jumps from its mask, letting you, Lynna, and Horon on it and bolting across the snow. Aveli gets up on Sheik’s back, and the Sheikah girl races off, circling away. While you ARE far quieter than you expected, you still catch the Lynel’s attention, though thankfully you’re a considerable distance away from it when it notices you. With the frozen wolf carcass in one hand, it brings up a spear twice as tall as you are. You look back and briefly lock eyes with the monster. There... is this primal anger in the large, red eyes of the beast, but its face seems cold, calculating. Its eyes narrow... it’s clearly judging if it can hit you with bow or spear best. The monster starts to advance, stomping through the snow... but only for a short distance. The monster lets out a ferocious roar, throwing the spear... and thankfully missing considerably.

From the distance, though, you can guess it was trying to scare you off rather than attack you. Still, you do not take any second chances, and have Keaton continue along the way, crossing a bridge and heading up the path further. Finally, a structure comes into view... your goal. You start to slow down, noticing Sheik and Aveli already ahead of you. On top of a hill, you see it. Decrepit, decaying ruins of Snowpeak Fortress.

Glad to hear!

Lynels are very dangerous monsters. You might have been able to take that one out, if your rolls went well, but it would have set you back considerably in resources and magic. They're more territorial than other monsters, and will rarely if ever work with them. Only Ganon has really shown the ability to command them with any real level of success.

>>2840573
It could help slightly. But it would also make it angrier.

And with that, we're back!

You all move a little closer, getting a good view on the entrance to the Fortress, and the general layout of the area. It is truly a massive structure, larger than Hyrule Castle, maybe even a third the size of the entirety of it and Castle Town. There are also, ominously, some lights on in the Fortress, most centered on Snowpeak Tower.

What’s more... you notice tracks in the snow. Not Lynel tracks, thankfully, but clearly monster tracks. And down below... you see some figures in the snow moving about. “...Betting it’s the pups again.” Aveli comments.

“It may be their main base of operations.” Sheik speculates. “The Darknuts did have a higher presence close to the Temple of Time.”

“Well, if we want a surprise attack on them, I’ve got just the thing.” Horon states with a grin, bringing out one of the shields he bought.

>A. Well... it wouldn’t be the worst idea, let’s board down to them and take them out
>B. We should avoid direct confrontations, no clue as to how many are in the fortress

“Given that we have no clue as to how many are in the fortress, our best course of action so far should be avoiding direct confrontations.” You look for a path around the figures down below, trying to see if there is another way into the fortress. While there may be one, the door to the path seems to be completely covered in snow. Hmm... could make that a way out once you’re done, but going through it currently might attract too much attention. Should still keep that in mind, a north-east exit.

You instead opt to pay close attention to the guards’ patrols, carefully going around them, with Sheik going ahead to make sure the path is safe. With the Belt of Winds and her natural stealth and agility, she easily manages such a task, even through the deeper snow closer to the firtress. You’re fairly lucky too, in how predictable the guards seem to be. A little distraction caused by sending off Zas to disturb the snow some distance away draws their attention, letting you sneak in easily.

Of course... it seems Horon, while following your lead, opts for a much quicker approach. He urges you on ahead, and once you’re close to the fortress, you see him pull out one of the shields again... and place it on the snow. He then rests his body on it and boards down the slope, quietly gliding across the snow towards you, Sheik, Lynna, and Aveli. Well... bolting may be the better phrase to use, as he seems to have trouble slowing himself down. He swerves out of the way, but still ends up crashing into the wall with a loud thud, some of the snow above him falling down.

Lynna covers her mouth to keep herself from giggling. “Not... the best landing, but that could have gone worse.”

Horon’s head pokes out of the snow, teeth chattering. “Y-y-yeah, v-v-v-vee-er-r-ry f-f-funn-ny...”

Sheik shakes her head. “We should not delay, inside, quickly.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKotEx8TWZc

You all carefully make your way into the Fortress proper, and somehow it seems the temperature actually drops further inside. Even with the protection, you feel quite the chill, Lynna and Aveli sticking closer to you. There is a large hall past a pair of interior gatehouses, with a staircase leading up it. The whole place seems to have a whitish-blue tint to it, save a few places you notice illuminated with a warm, orange glow. You count at least eight rooms on this first floor, though only one seems to have any light coming from it. Above you see the staircase split into two directions.

>A. Investigate the lit room, but be cautious and listen for movement
>B. Head up to the next floor, try to get a read on the place
>C. Go for the closest unlit room
>D. Go for the furthest unlit room
>E. Something else?

>A. Investigate the lit room, but be cautious and listen for movement
>>
>>2841836
You motion for everyone to follow you quietly as you approach the lit room. You carefully listen for any movement, sticking to the shadows as best you can. There are sounds... a fire crackling in the room, and mumbling. You reach the edge of the doorway and peek inside. Three Darknuts around a table. You motion for everyone to stick to the wall, and try to listen in...

“...through the path up east. If the Knight has been able to push back the forces there, and he heads towards Hyrule proper-”

“The Prince believes he is too focused on that area to pose much of a threat. And that damnable Hylian has not been seen with the Master Sword. She failed to retrieve it, so it seems that... HE was correct.”

One taps on the map and draws a line across with his finger. “We should still focus on the supply route to Kakariko. Cut that village off, and we can start to starve out Castle Town.”

>A. Keep listening
>B. Not happening. Attack, Sword Beam!
>C. Catch them by surprise with your Crossbow!

You bring out your crossbow. “Horon, try not to use any fire.”

“What, why?”

“We may be able to make use of the documents in there. Try to preserve them.” you explain. “On three... one... two... three!”

You roll out and start firing at the Darknuts, taking them by surprise. The first volley hits true, catching the Darknut in the back through his armor. He stumbles into the table, howling out in pain. He looks back at you with hate-filled eyes. “YOU!” He grabs a spear that was leaning by the table and tries to fling it at you. You’re able to move away from the point, but the hasty throw caused it to wobble slightly, knocking you in the side of the head.

“Speak of the devil.” the second grunts out, charging towards you with his sword. You roll out of the way and fire a volley at him, a couple bolts getting in his neck. Sheik is able to follow up your attack by slashing the back of his armor with her sword, Aveli after her slashing at his chest, both girls finishing him with a stab to the side.

The final Darknut advances with his shield drawn, the injured one moving behind him. You back away Crossbow pointed at their eyes. Agh... no, can’t get a clean shot. You notice Horon manage to roll behind them both, following Sheik’s example and going after their armor. He doesn’t get any solid hits on them, and has to lunge out of the way back into the hall to avoid getting stabbed, but at least that’s dealt with. Agh, but the shield...

The one at the front charges, stomping towards you quickly, sword ready... only he’s stopped, as something hooks on to his shield. Lynna’s Hookshot! She manages to yank it away, even hitting the second one in the face with it before pulling it to her. With your opening, you fire another volley, three bolts planting themselves in his chest. But even with his shield gone and chest injured, he doesn’t let up. He just barely misses you with his sword’s slash, but as you try to dodge you get a gauntleted fist in your face. You’re knocked on your back, the second Darknut trying to stab at you while you’re on the ground. You quickly manage a volley into its face, one bolt getting it in the eye and causing it to miss its thrust... but it still swings out in pain, metal slashing through your coat and into your arm.

You’ve got to be quick about this. You build up magical energy, and surround yourself in a protective barrier, declaring, “Nayru’s Love!” You next draw both your swords. Okay Zelda, like Linkle taught you. Defend with one, attack with the other. You step towards the closest Darknut, dodging its first strike and contering with a slash to its chest. You Next guard against a counter-slash, but while your barrier is able to keep you from harm, the Darknut can still parry fairly well. But even as it manages to overcome your defense, you’re still in the clear to deliver a debilitating blow, stabbing the monster in the side. Sheik leaps up and then stabs it in the nape of the neck, bringing the monster down for good.

You don’t let up, though, and immediately go after the final Darknut, parrying away its blade and stabbing under its arm, causing it to drop its sword and let out a howl of pain. You kick into its chest to dislodge it, and then slash across its chest, knocking away some of the bolts you shot into it. Horon and Aveli finally step in to finish the monster off, the two of them slashing into its sides. The Darknut falls to the floor, looking up at you hatefully. “Y-you... will not... leave here... alive...” it barks out defiantly before finally vanishing into blackened mist.

[Magic: 0/5]

You sigh in relief. It’s over, for now. But that was just the welcoming party... no telling how many more foes remain. Still, you’ve made it this far. No backing down now!
