You are Mike, just Mike, fresh recruit to the infamous Team Rocket. You and your partner, a Zubat you named Zhu, did your first mission of clearing out some pests from a Rocket operation without much of an issue. With the sun rising on the new day in Saffron City and your mind and body rested you can begin to further the goals of Team Rocket, as well as your own goal was to continue your reign of Rocket terror and crime on the city for profit.

You and said nefarious goals would probably have to wait though, as another sharp pain and a loud grumble emanated from your stomach. You honestly have been putting it off through sheer will power, but you were hungry.

Extremely hungry.

In all your excitement you forgot you hadn’t really gotten the chance to eat before or after your ‘job’ interview, and by the time a place or person you could steal from was open or out, you were just running on fumes.

Zhu looks at you from its perch on top of your hat, if it had eyes they might have concern in them.

When was the last time you ate?

Some general info about the quest;
-Please quote the post you are voting in, not really a rule but it helps me a lot
-If you are changing your vote, please quote the original vote you had as well as the post the vote is taking place in, once again mostly for my convenience and efficiency
-All rolls unless otherwise specified are 1d20 and best of 3
-Wait for the vote to be done before making any rolls
-I appreciate fanart, I don’t appreciate autists going on rants when other Anons don’t like it as much

I don’t suppose Rattata is edible?

No, even if it was it's the morning after, they'd be gone by now.

You practically just met your partner. You can’t be showing any weakness now. You need to make sure that Zhu knows you are a perfectly capable master, lest something causes it to rebel. You’ve dealt with worse than this anyway; a little hunger never killed anyone. You just need to keep focus, no weakness just focus on getting food.

Food…

You subtly pinch yourself to get yourself back on track. Now what you needed to do was simple, just…

>Call Brunch for advice, he would probably know about food with his name
>Ask Zhu to swipe something for you
>Find some other trainer, maybe you can battle them for some cash, or their lunch
>Write in
>>
>>2838365
>Find some trainer
We bet our non-existent money and if we lose. We can always run away from paying.
Or we can just Rob them
>>
>>2838365
>Swipe something ourselves
I don't think we're ready to challenge a trainer, I don't think Bartholomew would know much about where a starving street orphan can get food affordably, and relying on Zhu to get food for us would be showing weakness.
>>
>>2838365
>Swipe something from ourselves

Didn't Japanese temples had food offerings? We could also try to catch a Ghastly there
>>
>>2838408
You use your years of experience swiping things off suckers to pickpocket yourself and slip one of your Pokeballs into your other Pockets. Not much was accomplished by this action, but at least it made you feel like you were doing something.
>>
>>2838365
By Jail Broken poke balls you mean they haven't got a tracker or that they are an special sort of Poke Ball?
>>
>>2838408
Would there even be Japanese style temples here?
>>
>>2838418
Dammit QM, you are not allowed to make me laugh like this
>>
>>2838387
Ech, made a grammatical error there.
>Swipe something ourself
Would be the correct way of putting it, I think.
>>
>>2838422
I mean, Pokémon has those kind of temples and we have go to a bit more savory part of the city. A small temple or altar should be easy to find, and who is gonna put an alarm to protect some rice and fruits?
>>
>>2838441
True. Would be surprised if we found a Gastly in a temple that was still in service though. I imagine they'd be chased out.
>>
>>2838421
Last thread it was established that modern Pokeballs have trackers that the league uses to activate the Pokeballs using the ID system in the Pokedex as well as knowing when to transport a Pokemon to the PC when a trainer has more than 6. Jail broken ones from Team Rocket are just usable by you without having to have them unlocked by an ID and can't be transported to the PC by the league.

>>2838422
Most likely, but it'd probably be out of the city or in some are that the city isn't allowed to build in for traditional/historical reasons. You could roll to try and find one. Though in a modern city like this people may or may not be as superstitious so they may not leave food offerings anymore. You'll just have to check.

Hm, so likely, but not a very probable food source. Could we just try and pickpocket someone for some cash to buy something? I imagine that we have some experience doing so.
>>
>>2838474
Pick pocketing is in your realms of expertise yes.
>>
>>2838365
You just needed to swipe something yourself. There were many places and ways you could do this, you just needed to pick. The flea market was probably open by now, a lot of witnesses and in a better part of town, but crowded enough to get away as needed. You could just roam the city and swipe some fast food off an idiot and run, or some money out of their pocket for food. You’ve heard of some temples around the edges of town, not much security but you’d be massively out of place with all the shrine priests and staff, but they might be willing to share food to a poor soul like you if you asked.

>Head to the flea market

>>

>Flea Market

We would be able to do many thing for food, but begging is not one of them. We have survived all this long relying on ourselves and damm we take pride on that.
>>
>>2838512
You can steal from the shrine too, asking for food is just an option.
>>
>>2838500
>Head to the flea market

More witnesses but it's a crowded area and, being in a better part of town, we probably have better odds of pick-pocketing a good amount of cash or whatever.

Plus, our background gives us an advantage in both pick-pocketing someone and disappearing in crowds, last time I checked.

>>
>>2838500
The flea market is probably the best place for you to get a quick meal. With all the chaos and money swapping hands you can probably easily swipe something. You quickly draw close to the market in question. It is full swing of the morning rush as crowds of people are moving goods and trying to get the best deals. Well not the best deals, you are getting the best deal after all.

Free of charge.

Take things slow for now, once we've gotten something to eat we can take a risk and maybe go for something bigger.
>>
>>2838564
>Something bigger

Tourist and noobie trainers often drop their bags or rucksacks and leave them unattended for a small window of timeand they usually carry snacks and other things with them.

Besides, worse case scenario we get the rucksack, which is kinda nice.

Jeez, tempted to try and go for something bigger, especially if we're gonna be sharing our stolen food with Zhu.

Cash is always nice to have though and it comes with the biggest modifier.

I think Zhu should be fine for a while, after he drained all those Metapods and Caterpies. We can go after a few Rattatas late as well, if he needs them. Besides, we can go for something bigger after this, can't we? It's not like swiping a few wallets is going to take much time.

The smells and sights of food call to you, but you know it is best to focus on something easier to hide. Some cash shouldn’t be an issue, to just grab and go. You make your way through the crowd, the food somewhat distracting, but nothing you shouldn’t be able to handle.

Your hand out of muscle memory goes for the pocket of some random bystander, it was almost too easy. The moment you brush your hand against their purse you felt a strong and painful grip grapple your wrist. Before you can even think to try to resist you feel your feet leave the ground as you are lifted over your marks head and promptly slammed onto the ground. Zhu had been fortunate enough to fly off your head mid flight.

You were left on the ground looking up at your attacker. A green haired hazel eyed women you’d recognize anywhere, even outside of uniform. Despite her casual appearance of jeans and a simple blouse you knew who you had just tried to rob; Officer Jenny. And man, did she look pissed.

Fuck.

You stumble trying to get away, and that is all it takes for the irate officer off duty to tackle you to the ground. Despite your best efforts you feel a familiar cold metal embrace of handcuffs around your wrists as she applies her lawful device.

Why does she even have handcuffs in her off hours?

You don’t know if her ability to lift you over her shoulder and carry you away was a display of her surprising strength, or just a sign of how little you weighed. You were carried away from the curious eyes of the crowd as she walked away with you on her shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Before long the spectacle would be forgotten and the market would resume its hustle and bustle without someone like you to leech off it.

You think you saw Zhu fly off in the panic.

You were taken a few blocks away before she tossed you ass first on the ground in a fairly secluded area of a nearby park. From the looks of things she remembered your face as much as you remembered hers.

“Care to explain what you were trying to pull?”

Before you can even open your mouth she continues “do you have any idea on how thin the ice you are standing on is right now? If I weren’t off the clock right now I would have thrown you into cell by now, do you know what would happen to a kid like you in jail? Do you!? I gave you the benefit of the doubt last time, give me one reason I shouldn’t just bring you in right now?”

Trying to put on your most pathetic face you could, not really hard for a malnourished orphan, you just tell her the truth.

“I… was so hungry…” your stomach chose the perfect time to emphasize said statement with it’s loud growling.

You see her falter a bit, it was small, but it was there. She redoubled her efforts to remain stone faced.

“You wouldn’t be hungry if you were still back at the orphanage now wouldn’t you?” She pushed.

Maybe they were legitimately good at their job and then one day they come across an unassuming group with a pikachu and think "You know what? Fuck it. This will be easy pickings, lets have some fun".

Things don't go as planned however and before they know it, shame and embarrassment have blossomed into full blown obsession over this group and that fucking pikachu (why doesn't this loser evolve it anyway?). They move on, time and time again, determined to find a new mark in a new town and catch some rare pokemon. Every few months however who should show up but that smug little bastard and his latest floozy along with the pikachu that doesn't even stay in it's pokeball!

The boss is getting pissed, the group think they are pathetic and terrible at their job, their rep officially trashed. The only way to prove themselves now is to catch that fucking electric rat and show all of Team Rocket they haven't lost their minds.
