>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a thirty (thirty one) year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have fifteen minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls were once used to determine success or failure. But, due to the rather unpredictable nature of the dice essentially making it irrelevant whether or not you made smart decisions, were fighting outside your weight class, etc, we're going to do away with those, at least for the time being.

This quest sometimes uses music, and this website is not good with embed videos from youtube. So, it may be that you want to open youtube links in a new tab so they start at the right part.

I hope everyone has fun.

Let's suplex Eighter into Goku.
>>
>>2853361
>>
It's pretty rare these days to spend time with Goku without either fighting off some bloodthirsty enemy, or sparring with your friend to see which of you is the strongest. Sitting on the sofa in his and Suno's home, drinking some hot coco, and talking about each-other's families is quite out of the ordinary, though certainly not unpleasant.

Taking another sip of the hot beverage, which keeps the intense cold of the area from being a bother, you listen as Suno describes the current feeling of the village, which, as you might expect, is quite happy given that their chief and his daughter were instrumental in saving not only Jingle Village, but the entire world. Suno's clearly quite proud of both of them, and you know full well how proud Goku is of Kori.

"It's strange that Kori's just back to her normal routine like nothing's happened, though," Suno admits, lowering her mug. "Yesterday she was fighting the strongest monster any of us have seen, but today she's just out playing with Eighter like normal."

Goku gives his wife a puzzled look, not seeming to understand the problem. "Well, sure. The fight's over, what else is she going to do? I mean, besides train, and I think she's earned a day to relax."

Suno gives her husband a pointed look, her tone somewhat frustrated as she has to explain this to him. "Most people would be a little bit shaken by something like that, Goku, definitely not able to carry on like it was just another day."

She sighs, relaxing herself a bit. "But, she's your daughter, so she's definitely not like most people."

She looks over at you. "Tofoo, how's your family doing after all of this?"

>A. Well, Bulma's probably a little sore....

>B. Big Trunks is thinking a lot about the future, and talked with you about what this entire situation means.

>C. Little Trunks honestly seems just happy that you're home.

>D. The family's mostly just relieved that everyone's okay

>E. You aren't entirely sure, other than your future son, you didn't talk too much about it.

"Big Trunks is thinking a lot about the future," you say, not realizing until it's left your lips the pun you've just made. "And he talked to me yesterday about what he thinks this entire situation means. Little Trunks...honestly he just seems happy that I came home."

"See, now that makes sense," Suno tells you, lifting up her mug and taking another sip."I guess Kori's behavior's just a Saiyan thing...."

"Maybe," Goku says with a shrug. "I don't know a whole lot about the Saiyans."

Other than Goku and Kori, you've yet to meet a Saiyan that you liked. Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, Turles, they were all bloodthirsty monsters that would kill and destroy anyone and anything in their way, or if they just felt like it. They didn't seem quite as sadistic as say, Freeza, but that's not saying much. That Goku and Kori come from the same species as those maniacs is pretty nuts, but you suppose that their upbringing made all the difference. Maybe some of those other Saiyans would have turned out better if they were born on Earth.

"So Tofoo," Goku says to you, "You're going to enter the World Martial Arts Tournament, right?"

And thoughts of Saiyans are gone from your mind. There's another tournament coming up? Well, that makes sense, it's been a few years. But still, you'd have thought that somebody would have bothered to tell the World Champion. Then again, things have been nuts lately, maybe someone did tell you and it just slipped your mind.

The tone of Goku's voice makes it clear that he's entering, not that you would have otherwise doubted that in the slightest. Last time there was a tournament, he wasn't around to enter, and part of you wonders if you would have taken the title had Goku been there to compete with you. If you know your friend, he's wondering the same thing. Given the competitiveness and drive the two of you have to be the strongest, which of you is the better fighter at this time is a question that's looming over both of your heads. And given what you've seen of the others, there's even a chance that one of them could come out on top. Hell, two children left the two of you in the dust at the Cell Games, and the future version of your son was able to defeat you despite being beneath you in terms of power. Chi-Chi's pushed the Kaio-Ken to an insane degree, Lapis and Piccolo clearly went through some intense training leading up to the games, Krillin is always one to watch, Yamcha had that strange aura during the fights, Tenshinhan and Chaozu never stop training, and Jackie Chun might even pop up.

>A. Tell Goku that of course you'll enter

>B. You don't know, after the Cell Games, you aren't sure how you feel about tournaments

>C. Remind him that he'll get to see Kori fight in the Junior Division this time

"Of course I'll enter!" you assure your friend.

"Awesome!" Goku shouts, leaping to his feet in excitement and accidentally spilling his coco onto the floor.

"Goku!" Suno admonishes, bringing Goku's joy down a notch.

"Sorry...." he apologizes, half-whining. "I just can't wait! I was so upset that I didn't get to fight you in the last tournament, Tofoo! It's going to be great!"

"And you'll get to see Kori fight in the Junior Division this time," you point out, remembering her battle with Konattsu in the last one.

"Oh yeah!" Goku says as if he hadn't even considered that. "I forgot they started making the kids fight in a separate tournament....I wish Kori could be fighting with us, Konattsu too, and Trunks...."

As cool as it would be for the children of three of the main competitors of the prior tournaments to fight in this one along with their parents, you don't feel Trunks is ready to be going toe to toe with the likes of Piccolo and Jackie Chun yet. Maybe he'd want to compete in the Junior Division, though. He likes sparring with you, and he's definitely stronger than most kids, or most adults for that matter. You don't think he'll beat Kori or Konattsu, but the other competitors? He'll blow them away!

"You spar with Kori every day anyway," Suno points out as she heads for the kitchen, returning after a few moments with some things to clean the mess her husband made. "She'll be old enough to fight with the adults before you know it, so don't rush it so much."

"Is Trunks going to enter the junior tournament?" Suno asks, looking up at you.

>A. Absolutely

"I don't know yet," you tell her, having not really considered that or even known there was a tournament coming until just a moment ago. "But if he wants to, I sure won't stop him."

"Alright!" Goku shouts, completely pumped once again. "That makes three fighters we know are going to give us a good show!"

"Goku, Trunks is only about five, I don't think he'll be able to keep up with Kori and Konattsu," Suno points out to him.

She's probably right, but Goku's got a point, too. Trunks may still be a little kid that's still working to master the basics, but he has strength and determination that can't be denied. If those punches he gives when you train with him are any indication, he's going to grow into quite the warrior, and already boasts incredible strength. You trust Kori and Konattsu to recognize the difference in power between themselves and him, so really, all you need to worry about is making sure that your son knows to pull his punches so he doesn't kill any of the normal children in the Junior Division. And he may be little, but he's smart enough to understand that much if you explain it to him. He'll be fine, so long as Bulma lets him enter. You don't really see why she wouldn't, but you never know. After all, she's smarter than you are, so she might think of something that just didn't occur to you. You'll have to broach the subject with her when you have the chance, and run the idea by Trunks. He'll need some training if he's going to be up against the strongest girls on the planet.

"So, does everyone else know about the tournament?" Suno asks, finishing her cleaning and getting up. "I mean, if Tofoo didn't know..."

"Oh, man, I'll go tell them all right now!" Goku declares, bringing his fingers to his head and vanishing into thin air.

Suno shakes her head with a fond smile. "One-track mind."

She looks at you, still smiling, though it's much more of a friend smile than the loving look she had on her face when thinking about Goku just a second ago.

"You're welcome to stay for Lunch, Tofoo," she tells you. "Kori should be coming back soon enough, and I'm sure Eighter would be happy to see you."

"Sorry, but there's someplace else I need to visit," you tell Suno, doing as Goku had done just a moment ago and sensing for energy signatures.

Those energies that belong to your friends are largely easy to locate. Even when they aren't fighting or showing off, so long as they aren't suppressing their power, their energies are easy enough to locate if you're actively looking for them. You sense Kori, Tenshinhan, Chaozu Yamcha, Lazuli, Lapis, Piccolo, Krillin, Chi-Chi, Konattsu, but what of the one you truly want to find, that martial arts master that once bested both you and Goku so many years ago, who, even after your return from Namek, gave you a battle worth remembering? Where is Jackie Chun?

There! You sense his power! With a single utterance of "Kai-Kai", you travel instantaneously, arriving in your new destination, Kame House.

You're standing on the beach, in front of the single structure to be found on the tiny island that Master Roshi calls home. The old man himself is lying passed out on a beach chair, a dirty magazine covering his face. There's no sign of Turtle, and the only energy you're sensing is coming from the old man sleeping just a few feet away.

Dammit, their energies are so similar that you mistook Roshi for Chun.

Roshi doesn't even seem aware that you asked him a question in the first place. Once you've asked, he spends the next several seconds looking around in confusion, wondering where all the beautiful women went. Clearly, he was having a rather pleasant dream, probably inspired by his choice of reading prior to his nap. Eventually, he seems to finally reach reality, and looks at you.

"Tofoo?" he asks in surprise. "What....what are you doing here?"

The old man stretches, giving a loud yawn and relaxing into his chair. "I was having such a wonderful dream. All of these cute blonde angels, and they all wanted to play a game of-"

You clear your throat, cutting him off from going too deep into the details of his sleep-fueled fantasies. Apologizing for disturbing his sleep, you repeat the question that drove you to come here and wake him up in the first place. The blissful look leaves his face, replaced by a more tired and serious expression.

"Jackie Chun?" he repeats, not sounding thrilled to talk about his relative. "What do you want with him?"

"Jackie Chun is one of the best martial artists I've ever met," you tell Roshi. "I want to learn from him, or at least test myself by sparring with him."

Roshi has a proud grin on his face, apparently quite happy to hear such high praise for his....brother? Cousin? You can't really remember how they're related, but evidently Roshi cares for him quite a bit. That's nice. That looks doesn't stick around, though, soon enough he's back to looking tired and somewhat nervous for some reason. That's odd.

"Eh...I don't know what to tell ya, Tofoo," Roshi says, rubbing the back of his head. "I haven't seen Jackie in a long while. I have no idea where he is, and if he doesn't want to be found, well, there's not much I can do. I'm sure he'll pop up sooner or later, hehe."

That is not what you wanted to hear, not at all.

Roshi's sweating for some reason, maybe he's been out in the heat for too long. And that nervous look on his face.....oh, maybe he's about to miss one of his "programs". Honestly, he seems to have nothing on his mind other than that sort of thing. You're married to Bulma, and you still aren't thinking about kind of stuff all the time.

"I'm sorry, Tofoo, but I really don't think I can help ya," Roshi tells you. "I'll tell you what, though, if I see him, I'll let him know you want to chit-chat, hehe."

"That sounds good, thank you," you say to the old man, leaving him to his naps, or his programs, or whatever he does when he's not training someone or fighting world-ending threats.

Now, where to go? Trunks hasn't left yet, but you don't know how long he plans on sticking around. But, if you want to get started on your training right away, there are plenty of people that could give you a bracing workout. Goku and Krillin are obvious choices, but you want someone who won't pull any punches in training, whose fighting style is a little bit outside of the norm.

One big green man comes to mind.

Standing at the edge of the ocean, you begin to feel for Piccolo's energy. It doesn't take long to locate, as his power's flared up. You sense Lapis with him, so at first you assume they're training, but then you sense a group of energies with them, energies that kind of feel like-

Oh God, no. No, no, no, he has to be dead this time. He has come back from what should have been certain death way too many times. This is some bull-

Wait, no, it's not quite him. It's similar, but weaker, and there are several rather than one. Whatever's going on, you want to find out. Especially if Piccolo and Lapis might need your help.

"Kai-Kai," you say, appearing in the middle of a rocky wasteland not unlike the spot where Cell held his tournament.

As soon as you materialize, a fist slams into your cheek, and you're knocked into the dirt. Pushing yourself right back up, you look to see a shocked Lapis looking back down at you.

"Tofoo?" he asks in surprise. "What on Earth are you doing here?"

His head turns at the sound of high-pitched cackling, and you follow his gaze to see a trio of tiny blue creatures charging right for the dark-haired man. Two attack Lapis from the front, and he quickly engages them in close-combat, but the third makes a beeline for you. It closes in, laughing maliciously, only for a green arm to stretch out and grab it by the ankle.

"Don't forget, you're supposed to be fighting us," Piccolo growls at the little imp, slamming the creature into the ground with his stretched-out arm.

"Sorry...." you can barely hear the little Cell-spawn answer with its face in the ground.

Piccolo releases the creature as three more close in on him. They scatter as he fires off a wave of energy from his mouth, and a fourth one descends from the clouds above, firing off a wave of energy that Piccolo deflects with a backhand. The three scattered Cell Juniors attack Piccolo from three sides, landing some blows and pushing the Namekian back. After taking an especially nasty-looking punch, Piccolo grabs the one directly in front of him by the throat, holding it still as he fires off another mouth blast so powerful that it blows off his hand, scorching the Cell Junior rather badly in the process.

The creatures falls to the ground, scrambling away as the other three battling Piccolo pause in fear.

"I was coming to see if you wanted to train," you answer, getting back to your feet and dropping into a fighting stance. "But now, I'm here to help kill these little cretins."

The scorched Cell Jr. looks scared, but the other six (including those fighting Lapis) all stop what they're doing and glare angrily at you, tensing up and preparing to fight you all at once. Why they're ignoring the other two threats entirely in favor of you, you aren't sure, but you never got the sense that these things were overly intelligent.

"No, don't kill them," Lapis instructs you, which causes a few of the creatures to relax a bit and look over at him.

Now you're confused.

"They're helping us train," Lapis says in response to the puzzled expression on your face. "They aren't a threat to you or anybody anymore. Right?"

The Cell Juniors begin to nod in affirmation, some more enthusiastically than others, and some looking a bit afraid as they try to assure you that they don't plan on going on any rampages or spreading terror like their old man. A few still look like they're ready to fight you, but you can see the fear in their eyes, telling you that they don't relish the idea.

"I had the same reaction as you," Piccolo lets you know with a smirk. "But Lapis is insistent on letting them live for some reason, and I can't deny that they make good sparring partners."

>A. Ask Lapis if he's sure about this.

"Are you sure about this?" you ask Lapis.

"Positive," he answers, not giving any further explanation and not encouraging any further questioning with his tone.

It occurs to you that Lapis just came back from the dead, killed by the father of these little imps, yet he doesn't seem the least bit worried about repeating that fate at the hands of the tiny terrors that now surround him and Piccolo. Whether this is just characteristic arrogance or if he knows something you don't, you can't say, but you doubt you can convince him to change his mind on this.

"I guess you don't need my help training, then," you say to he and Piccolo.

"We didn't need your help training anyway," Piccolo remarks, though there's less venom in his tone than there would have been before his merging with Kami. "Besides, do you really think I'd let you know how I'm preparing for our next fight? You know better."

Okay, that's true. With no reason to stick around for now, you take your leave of the strange training regimen, and teleport to the Lookout, where you find Mr. Popo sitting between the two rows of trees, feeding a small gathering of birds that have come to sit beside and on him.

"Hello, Tofoo," he greets in a serene tone as he holds out more bird seed for his feathered friends, who eagerly take his offering. "I am surprised to see you back so soon."

>A. Well, you're Guardian now, so you figure you need to spend some time here.

>B. You want him to train you to be a proper Guardian

>C. You were wondering if it's possible to make adjustments to the power of the Eternal Dragon.

>D. You want to practice watching the world

>E. You want to use the Pendulum Room for some training

"I want you to train me," you tell Popo, explaining your reason for your quick return. "I want you to teach me to be a proper Guardian."

Popo frowns, not quite the reaction you'd expected. He stares at you for a moment, his expression not changing, and you wonder if you've said something wrong, or if he's thinking that you weren't taking your position seriously before now. He's always so unreadable when he's not overcome with joy or sadness, and it can get both infuriating and intimidating, despite how vastly more powerful you are than the being who was once your teacher.

"Honestly, Tofoo, there is little I can teach you to make you a better Guardian," he finally speaks, turning his attention back to the birds as he continues to talk. "The job of a Guardian is to watch over the Earth, protect and nurture the life on it. You have certainly done well in protecting it, and have helped to nurture it, both through helping your friends and loved ones grow, and through creating life of your own. All I can teach you is to better watch the world below, and you're already well on your way to mastering that."

Is that really it? As the Guardian, you mostly just need to keep doing what you're doing? Man, you're starting to feel bad about vehemently rejecting the position for all of those years Kami offered it to you. Oh well, the end result is the same, you guess.

"I was also wondering if it's possible to make adjustments to Shenron's power," you tell Popo, having wondered about that for some time.

"Hmm...." Popo hums to himself, once again impossible to read, though you suppose he's thinking. "I'm unsure. Kami never made any changes to it after its creation, aside from waking it early once or twice. Your wish on the Namekian Dragon Balls altered Shenron's powers slightly, so it can be done, but I don't know if you can do it on your own."

>A. Well, you want to try. Go and get the dragon statue and see what you can do.

>B. Go home for now, perhaps someone there will be able to help you figure out what to do.

>C. Visit Krillin's house, you haven't seen him since he was revived.

>D. See if you can find Yamcha.

>E. Go find Tenshinhan and Chaozu

>F. Head into West City. The press are going to be looking for you, and you might as well get the interviews out of the way.

>G. Go pay Tights a visit. Her island's pretty quiet, and you heard she's writing a new book.

>H. Head for the Pendulum Room to do some training.

Popo isn't sure you can do it without the help of another set of Dragon Balls, but you want to try it anyway. Kami never tried, so there's no way for anyone to know until a Guardian actually tries to manipulate the power of the Eternal Dragon. No time like the present, and no Guardian like you. Leaving Popo to tend to the winged animals that have decided to pay the Lookout a visit, you make your way inside, finding the statue of Shenron and bringing it back outside, where you take a seat a reasonable distance from Popo so that his birds aren't disturbed by your work.

Sitting in front of the statue, you close your eyes and reach out your hands toward it, feeling your mind make contact with the essence of Shenron, who at this moment slumbers as he works to regain his power after granting that last wish. You quickly notice something strange. He seems sapped of energy, and in a deep slumber, but you can feel a massive amount of energy surrounding his resting form in your mind's eye. The energy feels familiar, and it takes you only a moment to realize that it's yours. The minute amount of power still inside of Shenron feels the same, but while there's a vast reservoir of energy surrounding him, it doesn't seem to be fueling him in the least.

>A. Try to move some of that energy into him

>B. Forget the power surrounding him, have a look inside of Shenron and try to figure out how to alter his wishing ability.

>C. Give it up for now. Let Shenron rest, and come back to this in a year.

Try out with a small amount to at least get a better idea of it for later on.

Surely that energy surrounding Shenron could be used to better fuel his power. With a simple bit of focus and direction, you manipulate the energy and move a portion of it into his serpentine form, smiling when you see an immediate reaction. The dragon stirs in his sleep.

You're on the right track.

That's where we'll call it tonight, because I'm feeling pretty crappy. Thank you all for playing. I hope you had a good time.

>Where were you when Toyotarō thought it was a good idea to have Master Roshi be able to go up against AyyLmao in the DBS manga?
Giving no fucks, because they're martial artists and power levels are bullshit. Roshi number 1 bitches, skill trumps power anyday.

Nah.

Jackie Chun, on the other hand.

Tread lightly, anon, tread lightly.

Please, like I would intentionally piss off the mother of our child (who also happens to be a step removed from being a mad scientist)
Speaking of, what does little Trunks know anyhow? Have we taught him anything outside of the basics?
>>
>>2866432
Not much. He could probably manage a weak Kamehameha Wave if he tried.
>>
>>2866433
I hope we actually taught him the OG Kamehameha and not the static one that everybody uses in the late Z era.
Also had he learned how to dodge yet?
>>
>>2866437
Not much, his go-to style is kind of like Kori's "Punch and punch and don't stop punching until the other person stops punching"

I take solace in the fact that he's a child and will grow out of this Makunouchi-tier brain mashing method.
>>
>>2866472
Kori mostly hasn't.

Then again, Trunks doesn't have a Konattsu to balance him out yet.
>>
>>2866491
He's got something even better than a training partner.
He's got a teacher who knows what the fuck he's doing.
