It's ok I understand just glad your back. Also your art is fine. I preferred it before but it's not that much worse, the only things that have really changed are Rosie and the nose lines.

Btw why has your art changed, is it just cause of the new tablet? I don't know that much about art but I don't get why a new tablet would cause the nose lines

Does Rosie look different? I figured it was just because she let her hair down, but I haven’t read through the archives in a while so I couldn’t really say for sure.

I’d assume they’re still getting used to using and drawing with the new tablet. They’ll probably return to form eventually.
>>
>>2873556
You're right she's always had pretty puffy hair since the start but she always carried it on her ponytail so it wasn't that noticeable.
>>
>>2873569
also since we're on the topic I like the new artstyle honestly. lines might be less soft but everything look more detailed imo. Makes those wide angle shots look better.

>>

Eh, they only really look different in that particular image. They look about the same in this thread as in the previous ones, as far as I can tell.

[This is where you guys should decide what specific route you wanna stick with (there''ll be wiggle room to deviate off the path if need be). "How about we go to Honeydrop so can we pick up more treats and I can challenge Hannaly, then we can just cut straight through Riverglade and Ebindale to Froshrine, We could even pop by Faraway City after we take care of your egg."
>>
>>2876021
Well, I think the plan's been to stop by Honeydrop to challenge Hannally, and probably stock up for all the travelling we'll be doing, from the get-go, so that's an easy one. Also want to be in the area for one more night, so we can try and take a shot at finding Kreep in the woods. After that, eh, not sure. Want to drop by Riverglade and Ebindale, but that'd be the long route. How long would it take to get to Frostshrine, if we took the long route and stopped in Ebindale and Riverglade for a day or two each? I imagine there's a gym in at least one of the settlements, maybe both, so I'd prefer to take that route, but if it'd take longer then the allotted month then we can just take the shorter route and backtrack after we've delivered Rosie to Frostshrine.
>>
>>2876045
Taking the scenic route? I guess it's fine by me.
>>
>>2876024
The cities look tempting because I want to see the architecture but if we take the scenic route we might get to see new pokemons to catch especially since we'll be so close to the coast and we might find some water pokemon, the more pokemons we find the better desu .
>>
>>2876068
I figured it made sense in that we wouldn't have to do to much backtracking in the future you know? Go up from Honeydrop to Riverglade and then Straight through Ebindale and Froshrine, then down to Faraaway, take a boat to Orrinoir and Ruineel town then go up to Melamire and Vineveer. Also the open land between Froshrine and Honeydrop is like 10x that of Honeydrop and Claribar and we almost died there.
>>
>>2876100
>Wouldn't have to do much backtracking
Somehow I doubt it, even if it's likely the most optimized route to visit every city.
>>2876024
Btw Glacier, we met the champion, but is the league properly established yet? I recall something from an early thread about them having problems.
In case, where is it located?
>>
>>2876112
[The Maho region has 8 Gym Leaders and an Elite Four, just like other regions!]
>>
>>2876112
[The league is located in Melamire.]
>>
>>2876112
The League's apparently a little ramshackle, since the region was only recently settled, but I'd assume it's at least been established, if there's a champion.
>>
>>2876122
>>2876125
>>2876127
I see, I hada doubt so I thought I'd ask.

This makes it easier to plan a route, keeping our final destination on literally the other edge of the region.
>>
>>2876112
Yeah that's why I said much, I'm sure it'll work out either way.

Let's take the long route

We'll head out first thing tomorrow and use today to finish off any business we have in Honeydrop/Claribar before we go on our journey

Off the top of my head those would be: apologizing to Jess, Asking Seb if we wants to come with us, Catching Kreep, Battling Hannally, Stocking up on supplies for the journey and possibly helping out with that whole Claribar attack thing (and other evil team shenanigans) if we can

Then tomorrow morning we'll take the scenic route and travel through Riverglade and Ebindale for the occasional restock of supplies and other miscellaneous things including possible gym battles

Then once we arrive in Frostshrine we can drop off the egg, pick up the supplies for the Professor, and aim for the top of the mountain

That's the current plan but if we want to think really far ahead then the plan is to either go back to Claribar to drop the goods off to Sequoia in which case we'll take the non-scenic route of just continue our journey and head to Faraway city

Once we finish business there we head to Orrinoir and pass through Meridian lake (Nibdew's habitat), then to Ruineel town and maybe even Never-seen forest (Fevine's habitat), then straight to the league where we battle for the title of Champion. Then once we're done and Cubcoal has proved he's the strongest in all of Maho we go to Vineveer and straight to the the Blacklands (Cubcoals habitat) where he can meet the other members of his species and show off as the ultimate alpha male!

Everybody's happy, Roll Credits, "The End"
>>
>>2876369
>Apologizing to Jess, Asking Seb if we wants to come with us, Catching Kreep, Battling Hannally, Stocking up on supplies for the journey and possibly helping out with that whole Claribar attack thing (and other evil team shenanigans) if we can
Sounds about right. I mean probably inviting Jess along as well, but that goes hand in hand with the apology. Honestly, I feel like we probably won’t need to look too far into the evil team thing, at least not right away, if only because it’s likely going to come to us later on. Also probably want to add discovering all the Cryptic Pokémon to our list of long term goals.
>>
>>2876471
I wanna sow the seeds of a larger plot early on and watch them grow from as the story progresses. Nothing crazy just a small run in with them will suffice

>Also probably want to add discovering all the Cryptic Pokémon to our list of long term goals.
Oh, that was just the list of what to do before we leave tomorrow, our long term goals would look more like:

Beat the Maho league (You can do it Cole!), Fuck Mari, Find the Cryptids, Fuck Rosie, Encounter all of the pokemon (and maybe discover some knew ones), Fuck both Mari & Rosie, and most importantly; have fun
>>
>>2876533
You’ve been a pretty strong proponent of hooking up with Mari right from the start, huh? But yeah, sounds like a decent list of long term goals. Maybe catch some legendaries as well, or at least try and run into them. Unless the Cryptics are more or less this region’s legendaries, wasn’t too clear on that. Because they kind of sound like legendaries, but it also seems like they may just be very elusive Pokémon.
>>
>>2876569
I preferred Seb until I saw Rosie.
>>
>>2876569
It was mostly for comedic effect but Glacier's girls are super cute especially Mari and Rosie so it'd be pretty awesome if we hook up with them

Oh yeah the legendaries. Not to keen on catching one as it would make the rest of the journey super easy and it's always seemed incredibly dumb that to me some kid can catch the god of space but befriending one sounds cool.

Btw legendaries and cryptids seem different enough to me to warrant a distinction. Legendaries are like these important one of a kind pokemon that have overwhelming power while like you said Cryptids are just very elusive pokemon that have avoided discover in this new region

>>2876581
You see that? Rosie's so best she can even change your sexuality
>>
>>2876021
Go on foot
>>
Alright, so discussion aside, we should probably come up with a single coherent plan we all agree on, so Glacier has something to write out next update. I think the general consensus seems to be to stop in Honeydrop one night, so we can resolve our business in the area with Jess, Seb, and Kreep, as well as challenge Hannally and stock up on supplies for the journey ahead. After that, most of us (Barring one anon) seem inclined to take the scenic route, through Ebindale and Riverglade. Going on foot seems best as well. More chances for adventure, and to train our Pokemon for the possible gyms in both cities. We can probably take the train between Ebindale and Frostshrine, if we find we're pressed for time near the end of the trip. Anything anyone else wants to add?
>>
>>2876892
We'll probably see more cases of the crystaled pokemon if we're visiting each town. I'm guessing at some point we'll actually BE in one of those invasions.

Not sure if that really changes anything, unless you all want to detour to look for the cryptid if/when it happens and risk being too late for that egg thing.
>>
>>2876892
For the most part we all seem to be on a similar page at least for the short term

I feel like we could probably pull off a win against Hannally as we are now, though it might be a bit close, but putting in a little extra training never hurt anyone. I assume Mari will want to join in. Maybe get Rosie to train a bit as well? She’s not particularly interested in battling, but her at least being able to defend herself to some degree in a pinch would do a world of good. Slightly concerned as to whether we’ll have time to find Jess if we devote the day to training though.

>>

>though it might be a bit close
Not to call Hanally weak or anything but don't you think your overestimating her a bit too much? I get that she's probably strong but we have 2 strong mons with type advantage and another one that goes even. Not saying that she'll be easy, she'll still definently be moderately difficult, but if we honestly struggled that much against her with what we have going for us it'd be almost impossible for anybody else to get past the first gym
>>
>>2880034
>Betting on our luck holding out and us rolling well
We have a substantial type advantage, and if this were the games we’d probably have it in the bag easily, yeah, but uh, I’d rather not test our luck by not taking every opportunity to train up. All it might take is one crit fail to turn an advantageous situation into a crisis.
>>
>>2880047
I'm not saying we shouldn't train just that we shouldn't act like the first gym is the final boss, we're pretty well prepared all things considered

And if we roll shit the entire fight and get crit fails it won't really matter how hard we train
>>
>>2880252
Fair enough. Still don't want to underestimate her though, even if she'll probably take it relatively easy on us insofar as what Pokemon she brings out against us.
>>
>>2879772
>"Oh yeah, we can use today to train up!"
I don't suppose Cubcoal could try to learn poison moves? It might be a bit early, but it'd help a lot against Kreep. Is poison strong against bug? Poison, insecticide...

I think Chiwip needs to work on kiting. His power is actually fine, he just needs to at least attack while moving.

Paddlefrop....heh, lonely? Can we give paddlefrop the full attack training? STRONK SWIPES
>>
>>2880475
Pretty sure Kreep is Grass/Ghost, so Cubcoal'll be fine. Poison hits Bug neutrally, but Bug isn't very effective against Poison.
>>
>>2880475
I mean, Ember would be super effective against the Bug Types anyways (As well as Kreep, though I kind of doubt we'll need to battle it into submission), so I don't really see the need for it right now. As far as Chiwip, was thinking of doing some joint training between him and Cubcoal. Cubcoal gets to practice his fire rate and accuracy by trying to hit Chiwip with rapid fire Embers, and Chiwip works on his aerial mobility and evasion by, you know, not getting hit by Cubcoal's Embers. Don't really know what to work on with Paddlefrop though. Just work on his attack strength I guess?
>>
>>2880493
I was referring to poison damage scaling to max HP, which Kreep has a lot of, what with being hugestronk. If we can get Burn AND Poison going on, Cubcoal will probably do the most damage from DoTs alone.
>>
>>2880607
You might be thinking of Kreep's evolved form, that big rhino thing.
>>
>>2880607
....You know Kreep's the cute little crybaby and Wrathour is the giant, scary ghost rhino we're going to avoid at all costs, right? Plus I mean Wrathour probably got taken out during the attack, or at least severely injured.
>>
>>2880607
You didn't say a goddamn thing to indicate that's what you meant, at all.
>>
>>2880623
>>2880621
oh. yes. That thing. Weren't we going to 3v1 the giant ghost monster and capture it, even though we're probably not high level enough to order it around?
>>
>>2880664
Nope.
>>
>>2880664
Nah. We (Or I, at least) were planning on going out into the woods and getting it's small ghost baby, Kreep, to join our team, since it's likely been left all alone with Wrathour either captured or still under the influence of the black crystals.
>>
[Just felt like I should remind you guys that I take very heavy inspiration from the anime. Considering you guys have only really battled 3-4 times you'll likely struggle if you challenge the gym right now. Gym leaders will have strong Pokemon regardless of anything so it's best you guys prepare!]
>>
>>2880718
considering how bullshit some of the battles in the anime have been I think it's wise if we do in fact prepare LMAO
>>
>>2880718
Oh I know that she's strong I'm just saying that it has to be possible for other trainers to beat her or else nobody would get past the first gym and our team in particular has a really good match up against bug pokemon, especially if we train up a little

>I doubt the trainers will be able to tell us much we don't already know.

It's not about them telling us. It's about them showing us. Besides, I disagree because this is based on the anime more than on the games, so unconventional tactics might give us an edge.

...as long as we don't go full retard with it, that is...

Well yeah, but I feel like we could come up with even more unconventional (And effective) tactics then they could, given the time to experiment. Besides, I think we’d be better served working on the fundamentals, for the time being at least. Experimenting can come later down the road, once we’ve got more moves and time at our disposal.

Get swole with paddlefrop

Chiwip kites

A lot of bugs fly, could cubcoal do something with his fire to manipulate hot air and interfere with flying?

But that's how Cubcoal communicates

Can Cubcoal and Chiwip train by themselves? Think I already suggested this before, but having Cubcoal practice his accuracy and fire rate by trying to hit Chiwip with Ember, and having Chiwip practice his evasion and mobility in the air by avoiding them while we work one on one with Paddlefrop seems like a fairly good way to get some practice in for all of them.

This seems like an alright idea

Though I'm worried Cubcoal will start bullying Chiwip again...
>>
>>2883655
Well, I think Chiwip will be at least a bit more confident now, after those battles. And we can check on them every once and a while while we’re training Paddlefrop I’d think, to make sure they’ve not started brawling.

Cubcoal's got power. Chiwip's speedy as hell. We need a pokemon that knows how to take a hit, and I think Paddlefrop could be that mon.
>>
>>2888020
>Train Paddlefrop's strength
Paddlefrop is lonely natured (Raises Attack, Lowers Defense). We should let him play to his natural strengths
>>
>>2888020
Oh god, hang in there Chiwip.
>Train Paddlefrop's strength.
He’s got a Lonely Nature, we’ll want to play to his strengths. Can round him out a bit with some defence and endurance later on, if necessary.
>>
>>2888020
>>Train Paddlefrop's defense and endurance.
>>
Man I never noticed that all of our pokemon have low defense natures.

Kreep looks like it may be defensive, just saying
>>
>>2888081
Yeah, it’s weird, all of our Pokémon have had natures that lower their defence. Hopefully Kreep and some of our other Pokémon will be a little hardier.
>>
>>2888081
I wonder if Natures can change? Obviously they can’t in the games, without hacking, but we’re following anime rules and logic, and I mean since a Nature seems to be determined by a primary trait of the Pokémon, would it change if a Lonely Pokemon for example got more friends and wasn’t lonely any more? Or are they an immutable value?
>>
>>2888140
Well I assume nature just refers to how the pokemon is naturally. If something happened later in life that would change it's personality that would be nurture
>>
>>2888168
Hm, true.

[Oh! So question for you guys, because I am at a loss on what to do!

So regarding learning new moves, can you guys think of any in-lore reason why Pokemon would forget specific moves in order to learn their new ones or do you just wanna completely ignore any in-world reasons and just go through the game's whole "which move should it forget?" process?

Unsure if that would ruin the immersion or not!]
>>
>>2895847
>Dive in and cover Paddlefrop!!
It dodesn't look that big, time to be heroic

>>2895862
it could be that Maybe Pokemon have troubles handling more than 4 moves memory wise cuz they get them confused if you try to use more than four, so the in-universe situation could be for us to just ask one of our pokemon to not use a move anymore
>>
>>2895862
I mean there's always the "Screw that four move noise, lets do anime logic and let them have allllll the moves" option, but that'd probably end up being hard to keep track of and clutter things up, with the system we've got now. Uhhh, as far as organic reasons they'd forget, maybe they just forget the one they use and practice the least? Would give us a measure of control over which ones they keep or use, while not being unrealistic.
>>
>>2895847
>Dive in and cover Paddlefrop!!
This tree's probably gonna kick our ass, but damned if I'll pass up the chance for those sweet sweet relationship points.

>>

>Let the tree hit it, it's the perfect opportunity to raise his defense.
>>
>>2895862
You could just have us keep the moves we've learned or something.

You might wanna take a look at how other quests handle it and see if you like what they're doing

But at the end of the day it's pokemon, things have never made all that much sense to begin with
>>
>>2895862
How deep down the rabbit hole do you want to go with pokemon ability to comprehend language?

Off the top of my head, the pokedex could just be reading the 4 most easily recognizable moves in their heads, and the rest need some kinda pokewhisperer to get the mon to understand what move you're talking about.

>>2895847
>Forward, Paddlefrop! Push it away from you!
>>
>>2895847
>>Dive in and cover Paddlefrop!!

>>2895862
Maybe it's less that they forget old moves, so much as it is they remember them but can only handle using four or five moves during one battle. They never forget how to Scratch, but why would they when they know Slash? And beyond that, they only have so much energy to
attack. They only have so much PP, to divide among however many moves.
>>
>>2895847
>Return Paddlefrop
>>
>>2895847
>>Dive in and cover Paddlefrop!!

>>2895862
I always saw it less as a matter of forgetting and more attunement. They can still do the moves, they just don't have the same oomph behind them.
The moves are pretty bullshit. A pokemon that uses 'Scratch' is a lot more dangerous than a pokemon that just scratches things. That's why you can have scenes where a pokemon uses Water Gun to blow through solid rock, but also funny little moments where they spit water at their trainer without, you know, tearing their squishy human face off.
So learning a move isnt a matter of figuring out how to do it, it's optimising internal structures to let them do it hard enough to make a difference. It seems insane, but once you consider they need a certain level of plasticity to their makeup to allow for things like evolution, it makes a lot more sense.
It's only logical that they'd only be able to know a few moves at a time, because whatever structures let them do it have to be contained within a limited space - the pokemon's body. So the move that's being 'forgotten' is instead having whatever organ/nervous system/vein analogue/whatever they were using to empower the move reformatted for whatever it is they're 'learning'.
Or maybe I'm overthinking it.
