We play as Percival Williams (aka, Percy) a Pokémaniac on his way to become a Professional Pokémon trainer!

Your team so far consists of:
Houndour (Currently Missing)
Mimikyu
Whismur
Vulpix (Alolan)

Traveling partners:
Abra

At last, Percy got his “Trainer License” making him a full-fledged official trainer. He celebrated with his family and acquaintances, got ready for the journey ahead of him. Went to his first party, got on the good side of the cool kids, was almost killed by a supernatural(?) force, and he was just being told that there’s some trouble going down at the abandoned factory with the “Yellow King”, a gigantic Electivire that made Percy pledge an allegiance to him.

You are still on the roof of Kali’s house. Mere seconds ago, you were being choked by an unknown force. Abra, one of your Pokémon friends saved your ass in time. The party below you seems kind of fun, but you have more urgent matters.

Your current status is “slightly inebriated”. Also, you are still dressed like a tool (harder rolls regarding social situations), but you aren’t aware of this fact.

Abra gave you a little more detail on the situation. A single trainer, his team is holding “The Yellow King” and his troops at bay. Some Pokémon stayed to fight, while other, under the Electivire command managed to escape. Houndour was last seen going with his pack before the whole thing started and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

What will you do?

>Go alone, the Electivire is asking for “Your” help. Besides, others may not understand why you are helping a wild Pokémon
>Don’t go. You are sure Houndour will managed to get out there on his own
>Ask someone for help. But who? There’s Eli, Kali, Dick, the battling team, or maybe the gang-leaders and their thugs?
(A large number of people suddenly arriving at the abandoned factory could send the wrong message)

Eli. Maybe this'll fully clear things up between her and the Yellow King as well. Also,

You decide to go alone, this is your responsibility after all. You don’t want to cause any trouble to your friends, or anyone else. They don’t have anything to do with this.
Abra can take you there in no time. But first, he asks you if you are ready.

Whismur is decided, she wants to go and help Houndour as fast as possible.
Mimikyu is ready to defend you from whatever is there. And pleads that you go with caution.
Vulpix is still pretty scared, and these news haven’t done anything good to calm her down.

>Let Vulpix rest inside her Pokéball

Vulpix is in no condition to fight right now, or to do anything really. She needs some rest. She doesn’t seem physically hurt, but whatever that thing did to her while she was in that room seems to have had a deep impact in her state of mind. You take out her Pokéball and call her back. The inside of this devices is supposed to be calming and comforting to them, so it may help.

The most important thing tight now is making sure Houndour and his pack is safe, once you make sure they are alright, dealing with the “Yellow King” situation should be easier. Abra tell you that Houndour’s pack was living in the boiler room deep inside the abandoned factory. He can’t teleport you there since he has never visited it before, but he can teleport you to one of the many entrances of the factory that are more or less near that room.

You and your team are ready. Abra’s body glows for a minute and suddenly you are at the outskirts of the factory. Rumbling and growls can be heard, as well as loud thunders that almost take you by surprise. A fierce fight is happening there.
Your hearth is starting to race.

Abra will lead the way, since he has an idea of where the boiler room is and can guide himself by the thoughts of the Pokémon nearby. Whismur be in front of you, clearing the way of anything that comes between her and Houndour. Mimikyu will be watching the group’s back.

>Objective! Find Houndour and his pack!

>Roll a D100, best of three

>40 or less: The fight comes to you
>50: Scared, confused and hostile Pokémon intercept you
>60: “Is that Houndour? Wait, no…”

You, Whismur, Mimikyu and Abra are sneaking their way into the dark abandoned facility. The place is dimly lit by old flickering lightbulbs and sudden flashes of light coming from the attacks. You get yourself to a more open area, you cannot see the Electivire from here, but you can hear his roars of anger. The boiler room should be close by according to Abra.

Mimikyu: Master! Move!

The ghost Pokémon grabs you with one of his appendages and moves you out of the way. You can hear a loud *Crash*. In the direction of the sound, you can see a severely beaten Pawniard struggling to lift himself. He was just thrown to the wall with massive force. Another pair of Pawniards come crashing down. They plead for your help before falling unconscious. Their attacker is a Machamp, he is cracking his knuckles and seems relaxed. You can hear him say something about “A nice and refreshing exercise session”. He seems to been sent to clear out Electivire guards.

He notices you and his expression turns to confusion.

Machamp: A trainer? What is him doing here? …. Hmmm, he doesn’t seem like a vanguard, but Master probably wouldn’t like him here….

Machamp: Hmmm, what should I do……

Machamp: Better get him out of here before he gets into trouble

>Success!

Mimikyu jumps between you and the Fighting type, he starts provoking to fight, zipping around him and calling him out.

[Mimikyu]: Go find our team-member, Master. I’ll hold him back.

[Machamp]: Huh, a Ghost type? Haven’t fought one of those in forever! At least not since that Ghost Specialist in last year regionals. Dumb type advantage.

[Machamp]: This will be a nice workout. THROAT CHOP!

The Machamp tries to hit Mimikyu with no success, meanwhile you keep running towards Houndour location. After some minutes of doing so you finally found the stairs that lead to the Boiler room.
There are various fire types there, mostly Magbys and Heathmors. One of the Heathmors almost charred you alive, but you explained in time that you are here to help the Yellow King.
Hondour and his pack are in the back of the Boiler room. Seems like the Leader, Houndoom wanted to go and fight for their new-home so he went to aid the Yellow king against the trainer.

Houndour and the rest of the pack stayed behind to protect the pups.

[Houndour]: Human-Partner! What are you doing here? This place is dangerous!
Percy: That’s why we are here! We came to check on you, make sure you and your pack were alright.

[Houndour]: We are unharmed. The shitty human is only targeting the Electivire and whoever comes to aid him. Leader went out to the battle, despite our protest.

[Houndour]: Still, we can’t leave. The danger of getting into the crossfire is too high for the young ones.

You instruct Abra to teleport away any Pokémon that isn't ready to battle outside of the factory.
He nods, and after various travels you are left with:

5 Houndours (Including your teammate)
2 Magmars
1 Magmortar
2 Heathmors

Abra is starting to get exhausted after all these teleportations, so he’ll go get Mimikyu here and then it will be up to you to face the trainer attacking Electivire.

>Mimikyu rejoined the Party!

The Machamp was ludicrously strong! Mimikyu tell you every missed hit obliterated whatever it hit and made the ground crumble a little. But he was too slow to land any blow. So Mimikyu is unscathed!

You and your group start walking towards the battlefield. And then you can see it. A young man, a couple years older than you is facing the Electivire along with his team. His Golurk attacks the Electivire with his entire body using “High Horsepower”. Due to his typing, the Yellow King can only retaliate using “Fire Punch”. Still, he doesn’t miss the opportunity to hit the trainer himself with any Electric-based attacks. Unfortunately, he’s behind a “light-screen”, and any residual energy is absorbed by a Pikachu with “Lighting rod”, who is wearing a bow tie and a Top-hat.

Any oncoming Pokémon trying to hit him directly are repelled by a ferocious and Scizor and the Machamp.
He is throwing Pokéballs at the Electivire, but the Pawniards, and other Pokémon are doing their best to break them, or at least make them miss Electivire.

Houndoom is there, trying to hit Scizor with a Flamethrower, he seems really tired. Electivire has managed to hold his own against the Golurk, even with the disastrous type-disadvantage.

The young man seems familiar, you are sure you have seen that blonde hair somewhere else.

He’s only doing this, to catch him? Does he not have any sort of regard for all the Pokémon living here? How can someone possibly be so….!
No, you know better. Some people are really like this. Many don’t really care for Pokémon, heck, some people don’t even care about other humans! It’s a shame really, but you have to accept that in tis world there’s trainers, and people like him.

But, what you can’t let go, is the fact the Pokémon, even if they are following orders, are capable of doing such thing! You are going to give him a piece of your mind! You are furious!
You step forward and get everyone’s attention with a shout.
Percy: STOP!

Percy: Why are you guys attacking this Electivire? I know your master wants to catch him, but if he does he’s going to leave numerous Pokémon homeless and defenseless!
Percy: This factory is home to a lot of infant Pokémon, and if you Capture this Electivire and injure all of their parents then they’re going to be left out on the streets, unable to fend for themselves!

Percy: You should be ashamed! Don’t you have any empathy for your fellow mons?

Machamp stops his onslaught for a second, he crosses his arms while going deeply into thought. His other pair of arms is still defending the Pokémon from his attackers.
[Machamp]: Hey, guys. Just a thought.

[Machamp]: Maybe the Kid is right, I feel like we are acting like assholes right now. I mean, the only REALLY strong Pokémon here is the Electivire, I’ve spent the last 20 minutes pummeling Pawniards to the ground, it’s not boring but it leaves me feeling a tad guilty. Besides, that Electivire is my replacement for master’s upcoming fight….

He looks to the ground a little saddened. He’s stopping the Pawniards from damaging him, but he isn’t attacking back anymore.

Golurk looks at him and takes a second to think. He’s off guard so Electivire hits him in the face with a “Fire Punch”, he tumbles to the floor. He gets off the ground, but he isn’t in a battling stance anymore. Instead he goes to Machamp and pats his back.

Focus our mons on Pikachu. With Golurk and Machamp out of the picture Electivire should be able to help out Houndoom with Scizor. Have Houndour hang back for a second to make sure we don’t get our shit smacked by Scizor before Houndoom and Electivire can reengage though.

Houndour stays back with you to make sure you aren't knocked out by the Scizor (smart thinking)

Electvire, Houndoom, and the fire mons against Scizor (and a Surprise Pokémon)

Not a bad plan overall

Before Scizor can come down and knock you out cold, the trainer notices that Electivre, Houndoom and the rest of the fire Pokémon are starting attack his Light-Screen.

[Pikachu]: You damn mockery of my species… I’ll finish you off personally! Where is my “Light ball!”

[Blonde Trainer]: You want to end this quickly don’t you? Let’s finish this then. Scizor! Milotic!

He let’s out his water Pokémon, the enchanting Pokémon stands tall alongside the Scizor, they are getting ready to engage in battle.

[Murkwow]: Percy! We are here to help!
[Meowth]: That’s right! We won’t leave you alone in this!

The two Pokémon enter from a window, they hurry to get alongside you, but are intercepted by another Pokémon. A powerful “icy wind” throws Murkrow of balance, the dark small figure starts chasing after Meowth, barely missing it with his claws. It’s a Weavile!

[Blonde Trainer]: And finally to make thins more interesting, he takes out a necklace from his shirt, inside the metal casing sporting the same emblem of Dick’s ring there’s a keystone.
Things are getting out of hand, it’s now or never.
Percy: Hey! Jackass!

Percy: This Electivire is the protector of all the Pokémon in this factory. I know you want to add him to your team or whatever, but if you do then they’ll all be forced to leave the factory and try to find new homes. Some of them probably won’t survive the exodus, especially the younger ones!
Percy: Don’t you see? Even Machamp and Golurk understood this! Why do you need to cause so much suffering?

Percy: All I ask is that you try and find some kindness in your heart, leave these Pokémon their protector, and go home. If you won’t leave, as much as I don’t want to have to do this, I’ll be forced to try and stop you!

[Blonde Trainer]: You? With your team of first-stage chumps. Don’t make me laugh kid.

[Blonde Trainer]: But, you are right on something. I’ve caused too much suffering, for me at least. This whole thing has been a pain in my ass.

[Blonde Trainer]: The giant Electivire sounded like a good addition to my team, but I’ll probably won’t be able to train him for my match next week.

[Blonde Trainer]: Maybe I’ll catch him later, just for fun. After the league is over. Now, where I should get and Electric Type…

[Blonde Trainer]: I could trade something for an Elektross, that could be useful...

[Blonde Trainer]: Whatever, we’re leaving. Gotta check out the online-trades. And Golurk, Machamp, we are going to have a talk after this.

The trainer recalls his Pokémon and exits the factory……

You managed to avoid more conflict and not die!

>You solved the situation with your words!
>But how long can you keep doing so?

Finally, the tension dies down.
The conscious Pokémon are tending to the battered Pawniards.
Houndour goes with his father to see how he is holding up
You didn’t notice earlier since you were dealing with this situation, but you have a lot of new messages on your phone.
The Yellow King has been hurt, but he manages to stand and go to his makeshift throne.
You still look like a tool.

The factory is a little more busted up, but at least things will be peaceful again, at least for a while.

The Yellow Kings calls you, he is grateful for your help. He knew you would be useful.

[Electivire]: You have showed your worth as an ally. Me and my subjects are indebted to you.

[Electivire]: It’s not much. But I can offer you one of our many treasures, if you wish for it.

Choose one of the following from the Yellow King’s treasure room:
SICK LOOT OPTIONS:

>Sacred ash (Fully revives whole party, consumed after one use)
>The egg of the yellow prince (One of the twelve eggs. Electivire trusts you enough to raise one of his sons/daughters)
>The egg of the Iron commander (Pawniard egg. One of the various eggs of the Bisharp who acts as Electivire right hand woman and concubine)

>>
>>2888331
>The egg of the Iron commander (Pawniard egg. One of the various eggs of the Bisharp who acts as Electivire right hand woman and concubine)
I think Electivire can only evolve by trading so pwniard is the best choice
>>
Gotta get some sleep guys, will leave voting open until tomorrow.
I'll be back saturday 11:00 am MDT

>>2888347
You are right, but you could probably manage to make him evolve without trading as long as you have an Electrizer, trading is just the fastest way to do it.

I mean, Electivire technically evolved without a trainer, even though he may be a special case.

Considering he's fucking gigantic and all
But maybe that trait is hereditary? Who knows.
>>
>>2888331
>The egg of the yellow prince (One of the twelve eggs. Electivire trusts you enough to raise one of his sons/daughters)
An electric type would make a decent last addition to our team. Especially if it grows as ridiculously massive as it’s dad. Pawniard’s cool, but we’ve got a Dark Type already in Houndour.

Huh, y’know, just a though, as nice as an egg would be, maybe we give it to our sister? I mean honestly, an egg’s kind of going to be trouble on the road, and training it up from scratch while the rest of our Pokémon will probably already be quite experienced, possibly even evolved, by the time it’s hatched could be trouble. On the other hand, our sister is going to have to get her license in a year, and having a Pokémon she’s raised from an egg to work with would probably help her a lot. She’s not exactly got our weird Pokémon whispering powers, even if we’ll probably help her out a bit when the time comes.

Let's look at our options here.

>Sacred Ash
Super valuable, won't be useful until far later down the line though. An endgame item we'd need to save for later use, at a critical juncture.

>Elekid egg
>Pawniard egg
We're pretty good for Pokemon right now. We've got a team of five, just starting out, we're about to go on a journey and catch more. If we hadn't accepted Abra into the party proper, I would vote Elekid, but as it stands we need a Water type. Like. No, fuck, we NEED a Water type. Having water on demand is the most valuable ability imaginable while travelling.

>Thunderbolt TM
Only one of our Pokemon can make use of it, and Mimikyu doesn't even use its Special Attack stat. I thought Whismur could learn it and we'd have Boltbeam at our disposal, but nah, no such luck. Tempting option but actually fairly shit.

>Big Nugget
Raw money we can turn into TMs of our choosing. Our funds are light after buying travel gear after all. Boring, but not a bad option at all.

>Ability Capsule
Depends on what our Pokemon's current abilities are, and if it can change a Pokemon's ability to their Hidden Ability. We know Mimikyu has Disguise, that's pretty much it.

I'm voting for the nugget, but might change to the capsule depending on information regarding abilities. If we can get Alolapix Snow Warning or Whismur Scrappy we should definitely go capsule

To be honest, you’ve always wanted to raise a Pokémon from its egg. Being able to observe and connect with a Pokémon before it’s hatched. But, your team is almost complete with 4 Pokémon already. Also, Abra is tagging along so you are currently carrying 5 loaded Pokéballs. Maybe you could bypass the 6 Pokéball restriction once Abra masters his teleportation, but for the meantime, having an egg would mean having a full party.
You think about it for a second, there’s another trainer who could raise an egg. Someone who still has some time to start her training career. Your Sister of course! You know she’s interested in raising another Pokémon to go along with Mr.Snob.
But you should talk to the Yellow King first. You tell him there’s another young trainer, with the same blood as you who’s looking for a Pokémon to raise with care.
The Electivire muses for a moment. He responds saying that even though he trusts your judgement, he can’t let anyone raise his progeny. He wants *you* to be the one to raise the egg.
But, if you really wish to give to your kin. He gives you his blessing to take one of the eggs of the Iron Commander to this soon-to-be trainer, but you must ensure that the Pawniard will be aware of his lineage, and if possible, make sure it returns to the factory once it’s older. (

Percy: We’d be eternally honored to raise one of your progeny, King

[Yellow King]: So be it. The product of my flesh shall accompany thou on thy travels. Find strength in one another. I have great expectations for the Yellow Prince.

[Yellow King]: You are dismissed.

A group of Pawniards comes to you to deliver the egg, the shell is pretty sturdy. You could probably fit it into your new backpack (you are currently carrying your old bag.) Or you could just carry it, it isn’t heavy really.

>Obtained Elekid egg!

Houndour is howling loudly with the leader and the rest of the pack, they are wishing him good battles and success in his journey ahead. He just finished giving his final departure and has rejoined your side.

You take out Houndour’s Pokéball and press it softly against his head, he sighs softly and then gives you a resolute look, he’s decided to be a part of your team

>Houndour was caught!

After saying farewell to the Pokémon outside of the factory, Whismur, Houndour, Abra, Mimikyu and you go outside of the factory. It’s around 11:00 pm. Whismur is curious about the egg, she wonders if she’s going to have a little bro or a little sis.

You answer Eli’s message

Percy: Sorry , had to bail, there was some stuff I needed to deal with

Eli: Don’t worry man, you found your mon?

Percy: Yeah, she’s alright, just a little scared

Percy:Do you wanna hang out? Outside of the party, I kind of had enough of that.

And just like that, he’s gone.

You tell Eli about the whole deal at the factory

Eli: Let me get this straight. You went *alone* to help Houndour and the Giant Electivire from a Professional trainer who had a team strong enough to fend-off the hordes of Pokémon at the abandoned factory and hold his own against the “The Yellow King”

Percy: That’s right

Eli: And you stopped the Pokémon and the trainer from attacking using the “Power of diplomacy”

Percy: Yup

Eli: While looking like a complete tool

Percy: What’s wrong with my “sick threads”?

Eli: So he trusted you one of his eggs from the “yellow royalty”

Percy: Yeah, that’s the gist of it
Eli: That’s bullshit. But I’ll believe it.

Eli: And those scars….

Percy: Oh, I got them from fighting a Snorunt at the abandoned Villa!

You tell Eli about your double battle alongside Whismur, Mimikyu’s kidnapping, without fully mentioning the White Room and all that.

Eli: Dude

Eli: You are a madman

Eli: I was skeptical at first, but honestly, fighting Pokémon with a pipe to rescue your friend, playing mediator to Giant Pokémon royalty on steroids. That’s sort of stuff seems right up your alley

Eli: Hehe, and I thought you were just a dweeb when I met you. I mean, you kinda are, but you are a cool dweeb.

You finally arrive to the hill. The sounds of the city can’t be heard from here. The lights of the city shine brightly, their glimmer can be seen from the river-bank. Eli’s team go to sit near the river-bank and your Pokémon soon follow. Vulpix seems better now, she mentions something about a terrible nightmare but is soon distracted by the view.

Eli: Hey, can I touch them?

You let out a whimper the moment her cold hand touches the bare skin in your chest. She takes her hand back and asks if you are okay. You nod by instinct.

She’s softly touching your uncovered skin, moving her hand lower and lower as she examines your different scars. You are trying your best to keep your cool. Think about something else! Anything else! Involuntarily you turn your head to her, she’s entranced by your scars, a little worried also. And she looks so goddam cute

>Percy used Harden!
NO, DON’T, SHIT, STOP YOURSELF IN THIS INSTANT. THIS IS NOT THE TIME NOR THE PLACE
She hasn’t noticed yet, since she’s focused on your scars, but her hand is going lower and lower, it’s just a matter of time. Oh crap, she’s going lower, lower, lower….
Eli: It’s hard…
You grab her by her shoulders and make some distance between the two of you.
Percy: NO I’M NOT, IT’S MY PHONE

Eli: What? I was going to say it’s hard to believe the stuff you would do to help them, your team, it’s kinda, really cool

Eli: And what do you mean by “it’s your phone”?

She looks down

Eli:……..

Eli: Oh

She takes a step back, she seems more surprised than anything.

Percy:IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS, IT’S NOT ON PURPOSE, IT HAS A MIND OF IT’S OWN I SWEAR.

Percy: IT JUST HAPPENS, LIKE WHEN YOU ARE IN CLASS AND YOU START THINKING OF THINGS THAT YOU SHOULDN’T, LIKE GIRLS IN POKÉMON COSPLAY

Percy: NOT BECAUSE I LIKE THAT KIND OF THING, THAT’S JUST AN EXAMPLE, I HAVE NEVER PICTURED YOU IN SUCH… *hmph*

Mimikyu shuts your mouth using one of his limbs to impede you from dropping more spaghetti.

Eli: Ehm… I think I should go now, it’s pretty late after all

Eli:It’s a nice view! Seeyoulaterweirdo!

She calls her team as fast as possible and skedaddles out of there…

You fucked up again
You drop to the ground, the grass softens your fall
Good work alienating any human girl that comes near you Percival
You look out to the sky, black, and almost devoid of stars.
You stay there for a couple of minutes

>Received a new message!

Eli: Did I really cause that?

Eli: No I mean, yeah that’s just accidental right?

Eli: We should probably avoid talking about this, I don’t want to make traveling together weird or hard

Eli:No pun intended

Eli: I’ll probably should shut up now. Talk to you tomorrow weirdo

Houndour grabs your attention, saying that you should probably go home, you agree. Honestly you just want to get some sleep and pretend the last 15 minutes never happened.
On your way home, you should:

You send Kali a quick message to ask her about the ghost libing in her house, she doesn't respond, must be busy with the party you guess.

The little ice type struts along Houndour and Whismur, Whismur seems a little preoppied by her, but she doesn’t want to mention what happened at Kali’s.

Percy: Hey, Vulpix, you feeling alright?
[Vulpix]: Yeah! Why wouldn’t I?

She doesn’t seem to remember what happened
[Vulpix]: Even though, I had a strange dream…

[Vulpix]: I was in a dark room, alone. I could hear a strange voice telling me to stay over and over again…

[Vulpix]: I couldn’t control my body, it moved on it’s own, and there was this sensation, at the back of my head. Like if something made its way inside of it, and I was connected to it.

[Vulpix]: Actually, I can still feel it, but It’s probably my imagination, it was a pretty spooky dream!

[Vulpix]: Oh, and I learned to do this! Check it!

Vulpix concentrates on a trash can nearby, she gets tense for a second, her eyes start to glow and suddenly the trash can is crushed by a strange multicolored energy.

>Vulpix learned Extrasensory!

Percy: When did you learn to do this?
[Vulpix]: I dunno, I woke up and suddenly it was there in my brain.

You aren’t sure if you should be worried about this.

Tomorrow is Sunday!
Eli wanted to challenge the Gym as soon as possible, unfortunately it’s closed on Sundays. So tomorrow will probably be your last day in North Pass city. If you manage to beat the Gym Leader this Monday you’ll probably get out of the city.

>Visit your grandma, and get some info on the gym

You arrived home before everyone, seems like your parents are still out. You crashed on your bed and waited for a new day.
You had a dream you can quite remember. You only can recall the sensation of being watched by someone, not Mimikyu though, it was… something else.

>It’s Sunday morning!

You get up to eat breakfast with your family. Your father is watching the news as he usually does, seems like the “Revolution Girl” didn’t only target your Rookie tournament, in other parts of the Aztlan republic, the Pokémon from rookie trainers were reported missing before, during or shortly after the tournaments. The rest of the news aren’t so eventful, the usual scandals regarding the dark type gym leader, Blackstone corp and White Veil just announced their future merge as one sole company and other boring stuff.

It’s kind of weird to think that soon your morning will be completely different. Your mother’s cooking, your sister playfully annoying, your father who’s always there when you need it, even the short-tempered and nervous Mr.Snob. You’ll miss them. It makes you a little sad, but your excitement for your journey ahead is greater.

There’s some stuff you want to do before tomorrow,
You excuse yourself and head out to the local cemetery

Your mons are walking alongside, it’s a pretty nice day outside. The sky is a little cloudy but the weather is great. Vulpix is having fun hitting everything in her way with her newfound powers. Houndour keeps her in check and makes sure she doesn’t provoke anyone. Whismur ask you where you are going, you tell her you are going to visit your late grandma. You only knew her for a little while, but she was always kind to you, she loved your father, your sister and all of your family greatly. A kind gentle person, and one of the few to not be weirded out by your “talent”. Such a shame she passed away before you could get to know her better.

Your father always went to see her before the most important moments of his life. She was the last person to see him before he went on his own journey, when he asked your mom’s hand in marriage, before his final exam to graduate from uni. He keeps doing it after she passed away, visiting her grave when he feels lost or is about to tackle something difficult. So it feels right to do the same.

You enter the graveyard, the ample green field filled with gravestones, you know well where she is resting, after all you have accompanied your father before.

Roll for a random encounter, taking second roll

>1: Gramps is taking a stroll
>2: A pink and slow visitor carrying flowers
>3: Ghostly apparitions
>4: Someone else is offering his prayers

In front of the grave of your grandma an old grizzled man stands. C.G Orizaba is offering a silent prayer to your grandmother. You weren’t aware they knew each other, but if grandpa is familiar with him, so it kind of makes sense.
After finishing his prayer, the man turns and acknowledges you.

[C.G Orizaba]: If it isn’t the Williams kid. Congratulations on your victory at the tournament.

[C.G Orizaba]: I’m just passing by, to offer my prayers to some of my comrades. And I guessed I should do the same for Isabel, I know she never converted to “Arceusism” but I don’t know how to pray in those paganist “Ancient Dragon ways”. No offense.

[C.G Orizaba]:I guess you are here to do the same? I’ll leave you be.
He seems very pensive, a hint of sadness fill his expression

Ask him something before he leaves?

>Is there a ghost living in your house?
>Are you alright sir?
>You said I reminded you of my grandpa, but honestly, I can’t see the resemblance

Percy: Actually, I got a question for you sir.

Percy: You said I reminded you of my grandfather, but honestly I can’t see..

[C.G Orizaba]: What you have in common with the mean old bastard? Of course, you don’t, but he wasn’t always like that

[C.G Orizaba]: I remember our first day as trainers, we weren’t even 12, Frederic, Michelle (he points to a pair of graves nearby) and me hurried to the lab to get our first Pokémon and Pokédexs from the local professor. Because that’s how we did it back then.

[C.G Orizaba]: Arthur was the last one to arrive, he was too busy helping a hurt Pidgey he found on the road. And Professor Cacti ran out of starters, instead of waiting for another one to arrive he nursed the Pidgey back to health and began his journey with him.

[C.G Orizaba]: He always went out of his way to help Pokémon, it was natural to him. In his first week as a trainer he had already befriended almost an entire team.

[C.G Orizaba]: But life changes you kid. And Arthur, well, life hasn’t treated him well.

[C.G Orizaba]: We were about your age when the last “suppression war” started. And everything just when downhill for him.

[C.G Orizaba]: After the war, I thought he would get better thanks to your grandma, but then the whole shit-show at the league happened and he lost his Trainer license. He managed to keep his team at least.

[C.G Orizaba]: I should stop. Look at you, being bored by this old-man ramblings.

[C.G Orizaba]: Why don’t you and me spar a little? I’m kind of curious to see what you can do. After you pray for your grandma of course.

[C.G Orizaba]: A Pokémon battle always helps me clear my mind. I’ll be waiting for you at the vacant lot crossing the street.

The man walks away. You go to your grandma’s grave and offer your prayers. Your family has never been the religious type, but you know you should honor the dead. Like your dad, she was always there for her family (unlike your gramps).

Percy: Hey grandma, it’s me, Percy. I hope you are doing okay, I’m doing pretty well myself. I’m about to go on a journey so I wanted to pass and say hi before I go. Everyone’s doing okay, Dad misses you a lot. And I wanted to introduce you to my team.

Percy: Whismur here is a nice girl, crazy strong for such a young Pokémon, and has matured a lot these days. Mimikyu is one of the most loyal of mons I’ve ever met, he’s always looking out for me and he’s a great cook too!

Percy:Houndour is a little more reserved, he doesn’t really like people, but he is fierce and a Pokémon of his word, he has a little trouble showing it but he cares deeply about our team. Vulpix is our newest member, she’s curious and adventurous, and a little troublemaker.

Percy: Oh, and there’s also Elekid! Well he is still an egg but he has been entrusted to me, I’ll raise him the best I can!
Percy: And I finally made a human friend! Maybe various friends? Still not sure about that, even though I may have screwed things up with one of them

Percy: See you later grandma, I have a battle ahead of me so wish me luck!

Orizaba is waiting for you, in front of him is his Pokémon, a large Noivern ready for battle. The old man looks more like his usual self now!

Okay, let's see what we're working with here.

Vulpix (Alolan):
Powder Snow
Baby-Doll Eyes
Confuse Ray
Ice Shard
?????? (Fairy thing)
Extrasensory

Alolapix's ability is unknown, but given we haven't seen any hail form around her yet, its probably Snow Cloak. Given she doesn't know Hail, its useless. If Hail kicks up immediately, we got an HA baybeeeeee and we can get some chip going, but that doesn't seem likely.
Fairy thing can pretty much only be Moonblast or Dazzling Gleam, and there really isn't all that much difference between the two. But, it doesn't get STAB, and it isn't fully mastered, so that can be pretty risky. If we're lucky, it's Moonblast, and it'll lower Noivern's Special Attack.

Baby Doll Eyes is pretty much useless because Noivern is a special attacker primarily, and it has negative synergy with Confuse Ray.

Confuse Ray will be a huge boon here, because it means we have a 1/3rd chance of Noivern doing fuck all for a turn. Opening with status guarantees you get the most bang for your buck, for the most part, so I feel pretty confident picking that.

Ice Shard and Powder Snow are pretty much interchangeable, we're trading power for priority by going off our physical attack. Noivern is a speed fucking demon, though, so Ice Shard might clinch things out for us. As it stands, Powder Snow is a more reliable option, because we might proc freeze. If only we'd taught her Ice Beam.

Extrasensory does big damage and can cause a flinch, but, with Noivern as fast as it is, flinching seems improbable. We can still have her try out the new move she likes so much though.

And finally, this is a fun little sparring session with someone way better than us. They're super experienced, and we've sent out our least experienced Pokemon. We're probably going to lose. This is a learning experience. And with that in mind, it will be a better learning experience for her if she's wearing the Macho Brace. She's already going to be slower than Noivern. But, that means Evasive isn't as reliable an approach.

Alright I'm gonna' vote for
>Offensive
>Confuse Ray
>Wear the Macho Brace.

Next I think we ought to go for a Powder Snow or two, try out Fairy Thing, and see where we end up.

Vulpix prepares to shoot the strange ray, but Noivern moves faster, flapping his wings to prepare for take off, the initial flapping creates a gust of wind that hits Vulpix straight in the face, and sends her flying and crashing on the dirt, interrupting her attack.

Noivern is taking it easy, but that last attack came with more force than intended.

The ice chunks fly upwards faster than Noivern can move, the flying type tries to evade to no avail. The attack was way stronger than she anticipated, it messed up her equilibrium and hurt one of her wings, she's now coming down on the ground, she could try and fly again since she is not in a critical state, but she intends to crash down on Vulpix while preparing an attack of her own.

Does Macho Brace prevent an Evasive approach or something? There was an overwhelming amount of support for Evasive vs Offensive.
>>
>>2892939
training with resistance is the best way to ensure max gains (in shonen, at least)
therefore evasive is best for training with macho brace
>>
>>2892939
The Macho Brace takes a heavy toll on speed, and evasive actions are determined by the speed of a Pokémon

Trying to evade Noivern ludicrous speed while wearing a macho brace on an untrained Vulpix is going to be pretty damn hard. Even if you took the evasive approach at the beginning of the fight.

I finally went with asking Vulpix about using the Macho Brace, and I figured that if she said yes I should go with the offensive approach that the anons who voted for using the Macho Brace also voted for

The two Pokémon are in front of each other, in a standstill. Orizaba is impressed that Vulpix managed to dodge in time, but if this battle comes to an exchange of blows, even with the type advantage, Noivern still has the upper hand in terms of raw strength

Fairy thing it is

Let’s try to respond to Noivern’s attack with one of our own! Vulpix’s Ice moves aren’t the strongest, but there’s that other move she has, the one you aren’t sure what it does, you only know it’s a fairy type move.

>Focus on attacking and use your “Fairy thing”!

>Vulpix has trouble using this move, but this may be the chance to correct that

>Partial success!
Vulpix’s body starts to glow faintly, a shining orb of light forms above her.

>Vulpix used Moonblast!

The orb comes crashing down at Noivern but the Flying type has already launched her attack. It hits Vulpix directly, the impact is strong enough to send her flying towards your feet. She seems hurt badly by that last attack.

>Vulpix is in the red! She is nearing critical condition, another attack from Noivern will definitely end in a K.O

Vulpix attack also connects, hitting Noivern square in the face! The orb explodes filling the place with a strange light for a second.

>It’s super Effective!

The Flying type toughs it up. But it’s obvious she has been hurt.

>Noivern is still in condition to fight, that last attack wasn’t as strong as you would have liked it, but it was enough to take Noivern to less than a third of her health.

You take a look at Vulpix, she’s has been beaten pretty badly, but you know she’s capable of continuing, for one more turn at least. But, you want to make sure she wants to do so.

Percy: Vulpix, how are you hanging? Want to call it quits? It has been a good sparring match

[Vulpix]: Heck no! I’m no quitter! Even if she's stronger than me, I won't back down!

Percy: Alright, one last try! Ice Shard!

[CG. Orizaba]: Heh, persistent little thing. Let’s finish this battle! Whirlwind!

>CRIT FAIL

>Vulpix used Ice shard!

Vulpix roars! (rather cutely) and launches as many Ice chunks as she can to the Flying type!

But all of them are destroyed by the razor like wind from Noivern’s “Air cutter”. Even if Ice-shard has priority, Noivern moves at a blinding speed, managing to intercept Vulpix attack with her own. Noivern is unscathed and keeps launching her barrage of attacks. Vulpix tries to brace for the hit to no avail, one single wind current is enough to make her groan in pain and send her flying directly to your arms. She’s out cold.

>Battle lost
>Winner is CG. Orizaba!
>Vulpix is knocked out
>Vulpix gained tons of experience!

[CG. Orizaba]: Not to shabby kid, starting with a status inflicting move. Taking advantage of the typing. Nice dodge there. And I can tell you trust your Pokémon and she trusts you back.

[CG. Orizaba]: But, even if a Pokémon wants to continue, it’s the trainer who must make the call. You need to trust your own judgement and if necessary take the right choice, even if your Pokémon disagrees in that moment. It’s part of being a trainer.

[CG. Orizaba]: And it seems my granddaughter wasn’t exaggerating about your “ability”, someone like you could be really useful for the capture and defense forces. It’s tough job but you should consider it in the future.

[CG. Orizaba]:I know my granddaughter and you aren’t the best of pals, but could you do me a favor regarding her?

He looks really worried for a second there.

The old man goes away, he seems to be in a hurry.

Well, now it’s time to do some scouting for info.
The gym is located near the industrial park of North pass city, the gym itself it’s at the top floors of a tall building used mostly as offices.

Where could you get some info?

>Your father! He’s a steel type trainer as well, maybe he knows something
Dad seems like the type who'd 100% go and shoot the shit with the gym leader. We get some nice bonding time and advice. Even if it's not specifically about the leader, he could give us general tips on dealing with steel-types.

We can always look this shit up online anyway. There's no way there isn't a bunch of discussion/shitposting on gyms.
>>
>>2893945
It all depends on the gym leader. Some still use it, others prefer direct battles, and some of them go for more unorthodox methods.

The ones that still use puzzles usually change them from time to time
>>
>>2893952
There's tons of discussion/shitposting online on trainer forums. But their advice and information may not be 100% truthful
>>
>>2893954

>tfw it's an actual gym - complete with exercise equipment for people and pokemon to use

>>
>>2893954

>>
>>2893987

Percy:Hey dad! I wanted to ask you about the gym leader.

[Dad]: Michael? I’ve met him before, when I was into that whole becoming a Gym-Leader schtick, serious fella, really likes his job.

[Dad]: Since you are challenging him without any badges he’ll stick to using three Pokémon.

[Dad]: He’ll probably use a pair of Bronzor with abilities to cover the expected fire, ground and fighting weaknesses. And maybe a Magnemite to cause Paralysis on your team

[Dad]: I’m not sure how he deals with “challengers”, I’ve heard he is constantly changing the ways to get into the Gym’s battle-grounds, but It would probably be related to fighting some of the employees

[Dad]:If you want some pointers on fighting steel types or want to try your hand at fighting them just send me a message!

You walk towards the poor sad boy, whatever is happening to him it seems like it’s serious. He glances over you and quickly returns his eyes to the ground

Alexandro is still to engrossed playing… a visual novel?

Percy: Hey Dick, what’s wrong?

Dick: I’m wondering the same Percival, it is my looks? My breath? My abilities as a trainer should be satisfactory!

Percy: Is this about Kali?

Dick: What else could it be about? She said no to my offer of traveling together, even if we are headed to exact same place. I had researched all these romantic spots throughout Aztlan, got a large list of romantic one-liners to deliver, so many date ideas, I practiced my “romancing-skills” over and over, and now, all my plans are gone to the thrash.

[Alexandro]: You just played this dumb game over and over again, it doesn't even have gameplay! Just talking!

[Alexandro]: The girls are pretty cute though.

The Ralts gets closer to him and gives him a pat on the back

[Ralts]: I feel you human, females just make your heart ache

Dick: What’s wrong with me Percival?

Oh shit, he seems pretty bummed about it, maybe you should approach this with care

Percy: You know. You kind of… creep her out?

Dick: State your basis for such claim!

Percy: Well, as someone with a long history of creeping others out I think I can notice when you are making someone feel uncomfortable
(You remember that week you tried to understand Magikarps and just kept staring at everyone with a cold, dead, unresponsive stare. Or that time you kept intensely staring at some trainer’s Lopunny until you made her feel so uncomfortable she retreated back into her ball, and yesterday with Eli, and that time when…. )

Dick:Hey, hey, hey, Percival, focus here. I’m I really a creep?

Percy: Well, I’m not sure about how to correctly deal with the opposite gender, but I feel like you are a little forceful when talking to her? And she always tries to stay away from you? I feel like those are signs

The boy thinks for a moment, Ralts seems to be imitating him

Dick: Maybe romantic comedies and dating sims aren’t the best teachers. Or is it my execution the problem? Anyways, I need to think this through

Percy:Why are you so hung up on Kali anyway?

Dick:Besides the obvious? Well, she did promise we were going on this journey together.

Dick:But that was a long time ago…Maybe she forgot. I need to stop thinking about this situation for a moment

Percy:You know what could help? Some sparring! My father is a steel type trainer, well he used to be, so I was planning to spar with him to get ready for the gym-leader!

Percy: Wanna come?

Dick:Hmph, it could be an appropriate distraction, as well as an useful excersice.

Dick:Let’s go boys! Ankhati! Make sure Alexandro doesn’t stay behind while playing! Zoroastres! Get ready for our first training session!

[Zoroastres]: Yeah! Disregard females! Who cares if that dumb Kirlia left me cuz I didn’t evolve sooner! Not me, nuh-uh. Not me….
Seems like Zoroastres the Ralts got a little down again.

Your father is waiting for you, he seems glad you brought a friend. He still overjoyed about the fact you are finally making some human pals.

He brought his old Metagross and his Probopass, they will be playing the roles of the Bronzor and the Magnemite

It's time for some sparring!

How this is gonna go? Your father gives you some advice about how you should prepare.

You'll spar with all of your team and:

>Focus on strengthening Houndour's flamethrower! Two of the three Pokémon you'll be facing are weak against it

>Focus on strengthening Houndour's "Bite", so you can take both Bronzors without worrying about their abilities

>Train all of your team Attack or Sp.Attack stat! (Select one) Steel-type Pokémon have high defenses, so it's crucial to overcome them

>Other/ write-in
>>
>>2895663
>Other Write in

Gym Leader probably saw us melt the competition earlier and is expecting Houndour & his Flame Thrower.

Maybe train Mimikyuu on something else? As a backup
>>
>>2895663
>>Train all of your team Attack or Sp.Attack stat! (Attack) Steel-type Pokémon have high defenses, so it's crucial to overcome them
Most of the team won't need physical attack outside of coverage so better get it out of the way early. Also teach Double Team to everyone who doesn't have it already.
>>
>>2895663
>>Focus on strengthening Houndour's "Bite", so you can take both Bronzors without worrying about their abilities
If both Bronzors have their weaknesses covered, training Flamethrower only covers the Magnemite.
>>
>>2895663
>Train all of your team's Attack
We shouldn't be expecting Houndour to 'iron man' the gym leader, so we should focus on having everyone ready to brute-force the fight. Magnemite will have higher Defense than Sp. Defense, but we have more options with physical attacks.
>>
>>2895663
>Train all of your team’s Sp.Attack stat! Steel-type Pokémon have high defenses, so it's crucial to overcome them
I’m not exactly a Sinnoh buff (Or any region past Hoenn buff, to be honest), so what’s significant about Bronzor? Have they got some sort of countermeasure against Flamethrower?
>>
>>2895700
They have the abilities Heatproof and Levitate. Heatproof takes away their Fire weakness.
>>
>>2895678
Agreed. Chef Casanova is gonna need to be our #2 at the steel gym. As much as I’d love to boost everyone right now, we need to get him ready to go in case Houndour can’t sweep the gym. Even more so if we have to fight trainers on the way to the leader...
>>
>>2895705
Hrm, that’s bothersome. Let’s see, Mimikyu’s a no-brainer for squaring off against one of the Bronzor, maybe even both, if he’s able to avoid sustaining too much damage fighting the first. Either Whismur or Houndour would be good for facing the Magnemite, but if it comes down to it, we should probably have Whismur fight Magnemite while Houndour cleans up anything that’s left of the Bronzor. Hammer Arm should be super effective against Magnemite, and Bite against Bronzor.
>>
>>2895680
>>2895689

Training your mon's Physical "Attack" it is!
Also, give some focus to Mimikyu, his Ghost typing could be useful against the Bronzor pair.

Your father also warns you, the Gym-Leader is a pretty strict person, he sometimes act like he has a stick up his butt, specially with new trainers.

Expect from him some bullshit to make you nervous, it's his way of testing you

Let's roll some dice to see how this sparring session goes

Roll 4d100, taking best rolls!

I'll add to the final result (+10) thanks to having your father giving you some pointers and (+5) for having Dick as a Sparring partner.

Since you'll be focusing on Mimikyu he gets an extra (+10), Vulpix total net-gains will be increased thanks to her use of the Macho Brace

First roll: Mimikyu
Second Roll: Houndour
Third Roll: Whismur

Let's see how this crash course on steel types goes

Your father's mons are built like tanks, at first it was hard to see if your team was actually doing something to the. But after various attacks, you could finally start seeing your mon's chipping away their health.

Besides the obvious, not mineral parts of their body (that are actually way harder than they look) they usually have no real weak point, and if they have it, they usually do everything in their power to protect it.

Instead of attacking with all of their strength on every attack, which can become exhausting in a long-drawn battle against a steel type, your Pokémon need to start getting used to strengthen their base power, get used to attack with more potency each time without overdoing it. Take advantage of their slowness to get some distance between each hit. Your father spend the day tutoring you and Dick about Steel types

Mimikyu
>61+25= 86

The ghostly chef is doing pretty good! Practicing his Astonish so it becomes strong enough to actually do something to a steel type! As well as his Shadow Sneak, making it way more potent than before, without sacrificing speed. And even though he probably won't use it, he took some time to test his "Wood Hammer" against the two

>Mimikyu's attack went way up!

Houndour
>95+15: 110

Houndour is going all out! At first he had some trouble moderating the strength of his "Bite" attack, it's hard to clamp down to a steel type so he's opting for more quick but still ferocious approach. After chipping down at Metagross he started putting more and mores strength to it, until after various CRITS, he managed to turn his "Bite" into a "Crunch!"

>Houndour's attack went way up!
>Houndour learnt "Crunch"

Whismur:
>78+15: 93
Damn girl! Whismur is bringing down the pain with her Hammer arm! The devastating blows aren't good for her speed but, damn, they are strong enough to make Probopass and even Metagross back down. Honestly is incredible how much power there is in such little mon, you have no idea how will she get once she evolves.

>Whismur attack went way up!

Vulpix
>92+15: 103
>Macho brace increased her gains!

After recovering from her last bout, Vulpix joined the other in their training! Seems like her last defeat really motivated her! She's completely dedicated to get stronger! She may only be able to use Ice shard as a physical attack, but she's making it count. Making the ice chunks bigger and spikier without sacrificin any of their speed, as well as making them more numerous. Besides that, her combat experience and endurance improved greatly from battling the pair of steel types! Even if she's still lacking on other areas, her physical attack is almost as strong as Mimikyu's, it's even comparable to Houndour's!

>Vulpix's attack went WAY UP
>With some more training she could catch up to the rest of the team
>Vulpix gained a lot of experience!

After a long training session, you and your team get a well deserved rest. Your father thinks you got this one in the bag, but you shouldn't get too overconfident. Even though it's your first badge, your opponent is still a gym-leader.

Dick: Hey Percival

Percy: What’s up?

Dick:This thing, with your father, is this normal for you?

Percy: Training? Well, it’s actually the first time we spar together, I just got my team recently after all

Dick:Not that, I meant. Passing time like this, you and him

[Commentator]: Here we are ladies and gentlemen! On the semi-finals of the annual Aztlan national league!

[Commentator]:Currently Williams has gained advantage against Stoker, defeating his Mamoswine with the already famous “Tyrant of the Battlefield”! Stoker is down to his last two Pokémon while Williams still has three including the Tyranitar that is in pristine condition!

[Commentator]: Stoker is sending out his Heracross! A risky move, going face to face with the Tyranitar to try an get a hit on that 4x Weakness!

[Commentator]:But Williams isn’t going to let him near! The Tyranitar stomps the ground fiercely, he’s going for a “Stone Edge!”
------------------------------------------
Arthur was in the zone, commanding attacks guided by a mix of instinct and experience. He felt so close to the finals. He had dedicated his life to Pokémon, over everything, and him, competing on the league, and winning it would be proof that all his efforts, all his suffering during the war, wouldn’t be in vain.
The big chunks of sharp stone fly through the arena and hit Heracross directly before he can get any closer. Sending him crashing down the wall. Dust fills the place, obscuring Heracross unconscious body
[Arthur]:You got him girl!

The Heracross didn’t look to sturdy, that last attack was definitely a CRIT, it should’ve knocked him out, or at least get him to a critical state. Just one more Pokémon to defeat and he’ll get to the finals. The crowd cheered loudly and wildly for him, his Pokémon had become a hit between the spectators, but he didn’t care about what the public thought, he only cared about becoming the champion and get the glory for his team.
As soon as the dust started to dissipate the crowd cheers became gasps of preoccupation and the screams of horror. The Heracross wasn’t just unconscious, his body had been impaled by the sharper and longer stones, his arms and torso where crushed on the impact. His exoskeleton was a mess.
Arthur couldn’t stand to watch, he had seen enough of this stuff back in the day. The opposing trainer tried to call the Bug-type back to his ball, but it didn’t work. After all, Pokéballs can’t store deceased Pokémon.

[Arthur]:No…

[Arthur]:I didn’t meant to…

[Arthur]:I didn’t want to do this again…
>>
>>2895901

Paramedics rushed to the arena, to move the body and try to no avail to revive the Heracross. It made no sense, a Pokémon strong enough to compete in the league should be able to survive that kind of attack. Right?

Authorities deemed the Tyranitar as a danger to the audience, they pleaded Arthur to return it to her Pokéball, but the man was in a state of shock. He wasn’t supposed to live more of this. He just wanted be a trainer again. For a moment his mind went blank, he didn’t know what to do, what to think. It was only the cries of his Pokémon that snapped him back to reality. Authorities tried to subdue the Tyranitar, attacking her with her own Pokémon, Arthur tried to call her back to her ball but he was being taken away by another pair of officers.

That day, Arthur Williams’ official career as a trainer ended.

I think (from the ghosts in her house, from how she seems to have multiple personae, from how she seems to have changed radically in confront to a past personality, from how she's dead set on success) that she's hiding something, most likely some sort of trauma. Abandonment syndrome? Probably high pressure, lack of peers and a unhealthy situation at home.

We are playing an autistic kiddo, while we lack in social cues observing should be our forte.
I am not saying we should cater to her or be her therapist, but we should at least be able to tell there's something wrong.

You got that a bit backwards. Eli was the one who stopped once we told her to. Kali wanted us to prove we weren't also pushing our Pokemon just as hard as her.

Eli took us at our word and realized she was wrong. Kali couldn't believe us or that she was wrong and demanded proof. That's why anons prefer Eli to Kali.

>I don't really get the hate for her. It just seems that anons think that because she didn't instantly become our friend she's a terrible person when it's perfectly reasonable to not instantly befriend someone.
Talk about glossing over a lot and completely misunderstanding anons.
It wasn't because she didn't "instantly become our friend" that made anons think she's a terrible person, it was various things.

When we first met, anons assumed the best and liked her, we hit it off, we went to the shelter, helped her pick a pokemon and tried to be friends with her, sure we fumbled a roll and dropped our poketreats, but Percy's Pokeautism is pretty well established in the academy but that wasn't what anons took issue with.
What started souring anons was when she straight up told Percy not to talk to her or acknowledge her in public, this sent red flags to a bunch of anons about her just being a thot taking advantage of Percy's social inexperience, just use the guy who talks with Pokemon to snipe a good catch for herself and then fuck off.
Neither Eli or even Dick did such a thing.

Then we met Eli which was a very different contrast, even Rich Dick showed willingness to respect Percy enough to take our advice to heart immediately with Alexandro.
What really caused most of the anons that were split to abandon her was when she challenged Percy, completely by accident too since she didn't expect us to be top dog at the moment, it was about that time we found out the shit she'd been pulling with the Growlithe we helped her get expecting her to treat it how we would have treated it.
Quite the wake up call when her grandfather had to take it to the clinic before it keeled over from overwork, she didn't even take it herself, even gave us crap for having it with us.
And the last nail in the coffin: when Percy alpha'd the fuck up for a moment and confronted her about it she called him an hypocrite, assuming that friend of all 'mons Percy was putting his partners through the same abusive regimen to get them that strong in such a small amount of time, anons had to fucking show her how he did things to stop her from crippling her pokemon.

Anons don't want to associate with her more than they have to, especially when it's time better spent with Eli, Dick or our mons, people that actually respect him even with his faults and don't mind hanging out.
You can argue all you want about "being a child" when she's actually old enough to know better than abuse something and then leave it locked in a room with some food and call it "care".
These aren't 12 year olds, these are teens, teens with expectations of being better than average, they're fucking reserve soldiers once they get their license.
Even if we did take the time to befriend her enough and end up learning some backstory, twist or circumstance, there's really nothing that excuses how she's been behaving since the beginning of the Quest until recently.

To be fair, if we'd not buggered the social roll with her, chances are our experiences with her going forward would have gone much differently. Just like we'd probably have a very different relationship with Eli if we'd not gotten a natural twenty when we talked her down outside the factory, and had instead failed the roll. Also, Dick literally demanded that we be quiet about our helping him out with Alexandro, so initially I wouldn't say he was that much different from Kali, our intervention just had a good effect on his outlook and how he treated his Pokemon from that point onward.

On the subject of Dick, while I do like him, he needed significant improvement and help from us before he ended up becoming a decent sort. I mean he basically had Bagon locked in a cage most of the time, made more or less no effort to look in to caring for his Pokemon, since he didn't know about Bagon's headbutting tendencies or desire to mark it's territory, despite buying it from a breeder that likely could have told him all of these things, and, when his Pokemon predictably escaped this rather less then ideal situation, he, as far as I can tell, had his brother beat it into submission then retrieve it. He's improved a lot since then, obviously, but that was largely due to our assistance. Without our help he'd likely have turned out as bad as Kali or worse. Kali has, rather similarly, much improved in her treatment of Growlithe since we confronted her about it.

I'm not saying that Kali's a nice person, she's evidently not, and I prefer Eli personally as well, but I think just dismissing her as "The worst" just because she mistakenly went down a path that, realistically speaking, a lot of new trainers likely go down initially before they're corrected is still rather overkill. She's clearly getting along with Growlithe again, going off of what we've seen, and he doesn't seem to be in bad condition, so the training regimen he's undergoing has probably fallen more in line with ours.
>>
>>2898691
>Personally I'm really having fun running it
And we're having fun participating in it.
>>
>>2898737
>had his brother beat it into submission then retrieve it
This isn't really up for debate here, not only are pokemon battles fought until one of them submits or faints, Bagon was causing problems in public, this could have ended way worse for it if the Capture Corps got involved.
But anyway don't compare Dick's treatment of Bagon to Kali's treatment of Growlithe, two completely different types of ineptitude.
Dick kept Bagon in a cage, yes, but it was because of how he acted, sure the relationship was only patched by Percy and we learned it was a matter of miscommunication but without Percy what would happen would just be Bagon being taken off Dick's hands probably by his older brother, the lack of our involvement wouldn't have been detrimental to the Shiny pedigree Bagon, Kali on the other hand, putting a young Growlithe through military tier training until it couldn't go on more for the day, then feeding it an over abundance of Rare Candy and leaving it in a room is actual willful abuse, if we didn't step in, Pokemon would die or be permanently crippled on her hands.
There's a more clear cut clash going on here is what I'm saying, passing the friendship roll wouldn't immediately stop her from abusing Growlithe, Percy would still only learn about it when Growlithe couldn't go on, which would probably happen earlier, but still.

Anyway, I'm just saying that anons have more of a reason to not like her and think she's a terrible person than just "Not instantly becoming our friend".
Kali seems more like a foil to our boy Percy right down to the way she sees pokemon, top rival material for a guy like Percy.

By the way, is anyone's thread Auto updater fucking up too? I'm having to manually refresh the page to see new posts.

Vulpix and Wishmur were most likely specifically bred to get the best possible outcomes. We will be getting a "Giant" Elekid. >>
>>2898811
>But anyway don't compare Dick's treatment of Bagon to Kali's treatment of Growlithe, two completely different types of ineptitude.

That's not what I'm doing though. The situations were obviously different, I'm just saying that, in a similar vein, both of them were mistreating their Pokemon, we intervened, and now they're getting along with their Pokemon and treating them correctly. Hating Kali in particular over Dick just seems sort of hypocritical to me. She didn't really get Pokemon training, and didn't see it for the partnership it id. We've showed her now, and changed her views on the subject and become a better trainer for it. Continuing to see her as a terrible person because she used to have a skewed view of Pokemon that she was willing to, and did, correct just seems sort of silly. Also, I mean, come on, if we'd passed the friendship or partner thresholds we probably would have started training with her, and the Growlithe abuse likely wouldn't even have happened. She is good rival material though. And yeah, weird shit's been happening for the past few hours for me.

>>
>>2898848
I mean, between the potentially HUGE electikid we've got and the heavy hitter whimsur that will eventually evolve into a loudred/exploud I think we'll be ok tank wise. Plus our team is a mix of electric, ice, fire, fairy, dark, and psychic so I think that's a good combo of types.
>>
>>2898855
I think the main thing is that while Dick was living up to his namesake he was completely honest about it. He was paying Percy for a service and his silence on the matter. That's not taking advantage of the autistic kid, that's making a business transaction. He's honest.

Kali isn't. She acted buddy buddy to get our help. As another anon pointed out yes we flubbed the roll but it's not like Percy wasn't already known as a weird kid. We sperged out and she didn't want to talk to us, then she saw we got in the top ten on the written exam and saw now potential use in us. She's basically hated us since and only messages us to help her out when Dick is annoying her.
>>
>>2898831

You should go the abandoned Villa, just to check how the hobo and his Vileplume are doing. Also, it could be good for Vulpix to see her families one last time and Mimikyu can say his farewell to his “Lady-friend”. Maybe you’ll pay the White room a visit too.
>Percy spent the $1000 he got form his father on lunch and treats for the Abomasnow.

You make your way to the dilapidated mansion located at the outskirts of the city. It still has that ominous aura that makes you a little more careful than usual. But you relax since you already know (most) of the Pokémon living there. Vulpix is escorted by Mimikyu to the white room, yhey will be taking the treats with them. The ghost type delegates his duties as your protector to Whismur. Houndour’s seems a little offended by not being the first choice, but he tries not to voice it.

You and your remaining mons make your way upstairs, the usual grumblings and noises can’t be hear this time. Just like downstairs, there’s tons of rooms, but you already know where the Hobo lives. Seems like there’s no one here, so you enter without much thought. You get a clearer look at the Hobo living quarters. There’s not much inside the vandalized room, it's mostly trash laying around and an old sleeping bag. The empty bags of Pokémon food seem recent. But there’s really not much else. Seems like the Hobo recently packed and moved out. After a closer inspection you can see a note left inside the old sleeping bag. Your curiosity compels you to read it.

“To the new inhabitant of this room:
Seems like you and me got the same idea. It’s not the best place around but there’s a roof over your head and for me that’s good enough. I just want to give you some advice if you are planning to stay, based on my own experiences. Don’t go wandering around the lower floors, I’ve seen various mons roam around, and most of them get pretty violent if you get too close to them. Just leave them alone and they will do the same.

If you decide to go and explore the lower floors like a dumbass, avoid the following: cold breezes, disgusting stenches (pretty obvious to avoid this one), and any radio or tv noises. Unless you want to get shanked by a Snorunt, poisoned by a Grimer, or electrocuted by a Rotom

Second, the garden is a trap. The big ass trees full of berries may seem like a good food source. They are not. Guarded zealously by bug types and a big ass Slaking who won’t doubt of making you his afternoon snack.
Also, it gets pretty cold on winter, so I hope you brought a fire-type, or at least something to keep you warm enough to not get hypothermia. I left behind some charcoal I was storing for the next winter, there’s some of that that weird kind of charcoal that won’t burn easily but will boost Fire-type moves mixed in, you could pawn it or something.

AVOID MIMIKYUS, I don’t know if there’s any living here, but, just avoid them if you ever see one. Some nights I heard strange voices whispering in my ears, I’m not sure if it something in this room or my mental state, probably the second thing.

And finally, if you have a trainer license, and you are up for it, you should check out BlackStone Security division. They will hire anyone with a license. They even offer free bedding and lunch.

Good luck out there.”

The trip to the old villa took some time, but you should have enough for something else.
>Get some of that charcoal? Y/N

And select one.
>Go to the White room (See how everyone’s doing? Talk to Abomasnow?)

Call Kali

Visiting the White room wins

You direct yourself to the White Room, after arriving at the cold room some Snorunt (Or Dittos?) approach you act as your escorts. As you walk through the old freezing lab you can see the Pokémon living there much more relaxed. They aren’t outright friendly, but it seems like they have come to terms with the fact that you aren’t a threat.

Vulpix is showing off her new move to her siblings and to other young Pokémon, while narrating her outings on the exterior in an excited manner. Describing the strange Pokémon she fought valiantly against. The youngest of the bunch seem to be enthralled on her (a tad overblown) stories while the older ones dismiss it as exaggerations. “She couldn’t have fought a Noivern, it was surely a Noibat, maybe a Zubat”. The Ninetales that lead the pack are glad to see her mostly unhurt. She’s a little roughed up from all the sparring but that’s kind of normal. While living here she always wanted to fight against her peers.

MImikyu is currently on a “tour” around the White Room with Froslass, they seem to be holding hands (Appendages?).

Abomawsnow greets you as usual. He and the other older Pokémon seem to be discussing plans to “enlarge” the white room during the next winter, since migration may not be viable. Along them there’s a Pawniard who looks way out of place. Oh, judging by the way he saluted you (and the Elekid egg) it seems he’s one of the Yellow King scouts. After the discussion is over he promptly leaves.
The ice type greets you and thanks you for the snacks.

[Abomasnow]: Human! I see you have returned. Your offerings are most acceptable as always!
[Abomasnow]: Judging by the reports of our scouts, it seems like the young trainers are preparing for their annual exodus. I presume you are doing the same?
Percy:That’s right, I’ll be leaving with my friends soon, so I came by to see how the Pokémon here were doing.
[Abomasnow]: Thoughtful of you. Join me for a bit young Human, before you embark on your journey. Is there any matter you wish to consult with me?

Do you want to ask the Abomasnow anything?

>Could you tell me anything else about the humans that kept you here?

Huh, the veteran's quest hook WAS a trap. Well, we could have diplomanced our way out anyways.
>>
>>2901259
Almost forgot:

After some searching you finally found a piece of the “Charcoal”, it’s not to big so it shouldn’t be too cumbersome for Houndour.
>Obtained Charcoal!
But how will he hold it? He has no arms!
You muse about it for a second, maybe you could fashion a collar of some kind, maybe something to tie around his paw, or a hat? or just duct tape it. That last one is probably a bad idea though.

Houndour: Don’t even think about it.

Seems like you were thinking out loud. He’s okay with wearing it in any other way, as long as it doesn’t look like “Pet stuff”

>You mentioned you met humans before you ended up here, how were they?

Percy: You mentioned you met humans before you ended up here, how were
they?

[Abomasnow]: Just like Pokémon, there’s too much variety when it comes to humans

[Abomasnow]: They may look similar, but they can be so different, even between the closest of kin.

[Abomasnow]: Long ago, just like your friends, I became acquainted with a trainer.

[Abomasnow]: He led me through various paths, victories and defeat, joys and sorrows. We saw the world together.

[Abomasnow]: But we were obliged to fight, against an enemy we weren’t prepared for. The ones who rule them send trainers in droves to fight their own battles. Just as the trainers sent their Pokémon.

[Abomasnow]: My partner didn’t make it. I failed to protect him. But I was not forgotten. A companion of his, a certain trainer took me in, and when the time came, liberated me on my old home.

[Abomasnow]: Do you have any other questions?

>Do you know the yellow king?

Percy: I actually have a question. Do you know “The Yellow King”?

[Abomasnow]: The Electivire? Not personally, but I’ve been aware of his existence for years.

[Abomasnow]: We’ve kept to our own. But a certain incident has made him consider an alliance.

[Abomasnow]: If we were too unite under his banner, he and those living under his rule will help us on the task of expanding our horizons.

[Abomasnow]: He is planning on connecting the White Room with the Factory, he is in talks with the dwellers of the sewers to make such thing possible.

[Abomasnow]: But those living underground live independently, it’s hard to make them all accept it.

[Abomasnow]: He may be foolish, inflating himself with such titles. But he cares for his subjects.

[Abomasnow]: What do you think human? Should I accept their offer?

Percy: I may need to think about for a moment.

>Let him lead the convo

[Abomasnow]: Hohoho, don’t think too much about it human. Your opinion won’t be the final decision, it’s just good to have the input of an external source

[Abomasnow]: I just want the best for my kin. Everyone living here, they are family to me.
[Abomasnow]: They choose me as their leader. And I won't disappoint them.

[Abomasnow]: Their suffering has been too great. I only want to give them peace, and make sure the future generations never suffer such things. That’s my biggest desire.

[Abomasnow]: You are a strange one human, you remind me of a certain trainer I met ages long past. Tell me, what’s your desire?

[Abomasnow]:Ah, the limitless potential of youth. Don’t squander it.

You and the Ice type kept talking for a while, despite his looks you find talking to him relatively easy! Well, you could say the same for most Pokémon you’ve met

>Relationship with Abomasnow and the residents of the White Room improved!
>Abomasnow will consider an alliance with the Yellow King
>Percy is still unsure about what he wants to do. (Percival approach to his journey will be fueled by a desire to find his way in life, right now this is his most important objective)

Damn, where did your time go? It’s getting late already, and tomorrow will be a busy day. You say your farewells to the Abomasnow and reunite with Mimikyu and Vulpix. Seems like MImikyu had a “special last moment” with Froslass, meanwhile, Vulpix tried to spar with one of the Ninetales just to be turned down a lot of times.
Whismur kept herself entertained trying to learn how to carve ice into shanks from a Snorunts. Houndour was busy distancing himself from the Ninetales who kept examining him thoroughly, he said they made him uncomfortable.

You and your team are ready to return home. Also, it seems like you have a new message!

Eli: (Online) Sup weirdo
Eli: Sorry I didn’t message sooner, was kinda busy
*She forwards you a picture of her and her dad near the riverbank, they seem to be eating burgers, Avenger the Trubbish is fishing, Jaws seems to be trying to teach Tremor the Sandile how to swim rather forcefully.*
Eli:I’m going to the Gym as soon as it opens, so like 10:00 clock, there’s a bus that should get us close enough to Ibarra Village departing at 4:00 pm, we should be at the spot like at 5:00 and then we’ll have to cross the desert, hope there isn’t any sandstorms tomorrow, that would suuuuuuck
Eli: So yeah, make sure you get that badge. I bet I’ll get it sooner
Eli:See ya tomorrow weirdo!

After exiting the Villa you are greeted by Murkrow, Abra, Meowth and his mate.
[Murkrow] Hanging around on abandoned places? Without inviting us? Not cool Percy

[Murkrow] No I’m not!

>Hang with your Poképals!
You forward a text to your family telling them you’ll arrive home later, you are hanging going to say goodbye to some friends first.
You give your each of your friend their respective Pokéball, they won’t have to worry about trainers trying to catch them now
>Caught Murkrow, Meowth and Abra!
Meowth will hold on to his and Murkrow Pokéball during the time being, they’ll be hidden on his stash, it’s hidden pretty well since no other Pokémon has managed to find it. Pokéballs have a function to be transported to a PC if the trainer wishes to, you obviously don’t.
You all go to Meowth a park near Meowth new place, you would hang in his new home, but the alley may be too small for the 9 of you.
You introduce your team to your friends, they start reminiscing the days where you first started spending time with them.
Mimikyu and Murkrow really hit it off, since the ghost type sees Murkrow as a fellow protector of “Master”, and Murkrow is glad you have someone so loyal watching your back. They have some sort of competition going on, to see who is the best one at keeping your ass safe.
You, Whismur and Vulpix are hanging around Meowth and his mate, he is showing the “treasure” that he used to finally gain the affection of her mate, a “Max Revive” crystal he found laying around, you knew Meowth had a good eye for treasures. Meowth also starts telling some of the stories of your past adventures. Exploring abandoned building searching for Pokémon and treasures, getting kidnapped by a Fearow that wanted your lunch, that week when you tried to “Evolve”. Whismur listens attentively, she has trouble you imagining a younger you.
Vulpix is more interested on getting some tips from the female Meowth, she wants to increase her “female charms” so she’ll get gift and attention from a certain male too.
Houndour, the most antisocial of your team hangs back with you, he asks you why you didn’t made your friends your team.

Percy: Well, Meowth is pretty happy here. And I wasn’t sure if they wanted to come along. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with making more friends! And I found a lot of good ones recently. (You look towards your, Whismur, Vulpix, Mimikyu and finally Houndour)

Abra starts a game of tag with the younger Pokémon. Meowth looks at the pair and says to asks her mate if she would like to have their own offspring soon, she says she’ll think about it. After a little bit they join the game, Murkrow and Mimikyu follow. Abra appears behind your back to tag you, so you’ll play along. Houndour refues to join in, but he sees your group with satisfied look. You play with them some more, Abra teaches Whismur, Vulpix and Houndour to play Poker and other card games.
>>
>>2902934

>Relationship with Abra, Meowth and Murkrow improved!

You haven’t been hanging out with them lately, focusing on your team and your journey ahead Still they are your friends, three of the most important mon’s in your life. You are glad they hit it off so well with your team. You’ll miss them a bunch, even if it’s just a couple months you are going away.

You also message Eli, telling her you'll take her bet

Percy: Sure I’ll take you on, let’s see who gets it first.

Percy:I’ll even let you choose the wager, since you’ll be paying after all

Eli: Getting cocky eh? I’m getting that badge before you even get to the Gym!

Eli: Loser has to do whatever the winner request! No take-backs

Eli:Hehehe, hope you are ready to lose weirdo.
>>
>>2902950
After some card games you bid farewell to your friends, you tell them you’ll be at the bus station at 4:00 pm, they’ll be there to send you off.

[Meowth]: Good luck on your first trial Percy!
[Murkrow]: He doesn’t need luck, you should have seen him in the tournament
[Abra]:…I’m going to rest, I’ll join you on your travels tomorrow… Take care

You arrive home a little later than usual, you don’t have to worry about being mugged since you became a trainer, having four Pokémon following you around at almost any time helps.
You enter your home, seems like your family was having a movie night. Your parents are both snuggling on the larger couch, while your sister has become asleep while holding Mr.Snob. Seems like they were watching one of the latest Kaiju-mon movies, the kind you’ll suggest watching on these nights, maybe they were waiting for you.
You decide to go to your bed and rest a little, tomorrow will be an important day. Your first gym-challenge and the start of your journey. You are almost too excited to sleep, but your tiredness is greater. Today, instead of sleeping on the old dog house, Houndour rests on your room with the other Pokémon.
>>
We're going to oversleep and miss the bus, I can feel it.
>>
A nightmare you can’t fully recall once you are awake

You are alone, laying on the bed on a room that isn’t yours but seems familiar. You feel as if you were smaller than usual. A young girl is crying on the corner of the childish room.
The floor is stained red. You don’t understand why she is so upset. You just wanted to make a new friend for her.
A mismatch of memories and voices are in your head.
The old man comes to take her away from you.
They leave you alone.
You only have your “friends” with you.
Your “friends” will never leave you.
You made sure they can’t.

Percy wakes up in a cold sweat

So the little girl related to Eli and Orizaba got experimented on by White Veil and got psi-powers, but also became a broken girl?
Murdered the fuck out of her mons (and also Kali's mons?) and turned them into dolls (still containing their souls???), but then got killed and turned into a psychic ghost entity thing?
And her psychic influence gave bits and pieces of her memories to Percy while also giving Vulpix Extrasensory? (Even though Alolan Vulpix does get Extrasensory through normal level-up at 31)

That's some fucked up shit maaaaaaan

I'm glad we passed on the Cacnea and Dick got him instead. I also like what little of Ralts' character we got so far.

Guess being a revolutionary commie bitch makes her too stupid to plan ahead useful things like logistics and living space management.

Also good run OP! You really need help in improving your English though because you keep making the same shitty mistakes all the time without anyone to tell you what the fuck you're doing wrong. I suggest getting help from someone in /qtg/, not sure.

>but then got killed and turned into a psychic ghost entity thing?
Eh, pretty sure she's still alive, going off of what we saw last thread, just locked up in some sort of (Assumedly) White Veil managed facility. I'd presume she's able to manifest her powers and consciousness in the room due to her having a strong emotional connection to it. Sounds about right otherwise though.

Glad everything goes well for best girl! That being said, I'm jumping out of her train the second we meet a cute White Veil Employee.

I know if I went by character designs alone I'd be falling into a rabbit hole I wouldn't be able to climb out of: the pokemon series has so many 10/10 female designs for characters and NPCs, the one you posted included, it's not a joke.
For this reason, I'm sticking by Eli unless things don't work out.
