Iwata Riho, the new transfer student, is threatening to break you and Hanazawa up...

"Please don't think of me as a bad guy, Yamada Ken-kun," Iwata Riho says smiling, bowing with one eye closed. "It's nothing personal. I think both of you are a really good fit."

"But I need to do this for the greater good, y'know? I'm just here to restore the balance, that's all. We're even in the same team, right?"

She grins.

"I also want [True End], Yamada Ken-kun."

"Then why do you have to break me and Hanazawa up?" You grit your teeth. "She has nothing to do with all this."

"But you do. Right, Yamada Ken-kun?" She twirls around, as if bored in your conversation. "The [Damned] has messed with the balance of this world too much. Now I've been sent to fix it. And that mission entails me having to inflict you a little bit of pain."

She swings around her arm as if holding a whip.
"I'm doing this out of love, Yamada Ken-kun. Like a teacher hitting your palm with a stick, or a parent with a belt. Please do cooperate, Yamada Ken-kun. You'll thank me later~"

"Who in the world are you? What's your plan?!"
"I'm Iwata Riho." She says with a tongue out. "But you can also call me the Angel of this world."
"...Angel?"

Why does this introduction seem familiar?

"Well, I'm not really an angel. I'm as much an angel as I am a devil. But angel sounds really cute, right?"
Iwata Riho squats down in front of you.
"I call myself an angel because my mission is God's mission."
God being...

The [Main Character].

"I don't want to hurt Hanazawa, Yamada Ken-kun. And especially not you! But this is to punish the [Damned]. A test of whether you're up to the task."
"The [Damned]...why...is this because of my past life...?"
"That's not it at all!"

Iwata furiously shakes her head.
"The [Damned] needs to be punished because he almost destroyed the plan, destroyed the balance. You know of [Erasure]?"
"..."
"We're talking the [Erasure] of all this,"

And Iwata motions toward everything around her.

"So what's your relationship in the face of losing everything?"

>>
Like, real shit. This is a common anime trope in and of itself- people don't communicate obvious shit, so things get worse and worse. Howsabout we DON'T play into that stereotype, huh?
>>
So if she STILL decides to be extra cagey about it...then whatever else happens is officially not our fault since no one thought it'd be a good fucking idea to set us straight. If we end up taking a torch to the world, it's because no one told us that shit was flammable.
>>
I think we should take a more calm and reasonable approach to talking to her.
I mean, she's here to punish us, after all. Maybe we shouldn't be potentially worsening the punishment with a harsh tone.
It's why I worded mine the way I did.
>>
>>2893388
Fair enough. Probably shouldn't have sworn so much in my addition, but I pretty much agree with yours.
>>
>>2893279
"There must be some other way..." You try to bargain with Iwata. "If something must be done, then...as long as you don't hurt Hanazawa..."

She shakes her head. "I'm afraid that's impossible, Yamada Ken-kun. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette, right?"

"Then tell me what to do!" Your fists are clenched. You try not to be angry, but frustration is starting to settle. "It feels like everything I do..."

"But you do know what to do."
"...[Happiness], right? And am I not doing my part? Am I not following your words?"
She grimaces. She draws on the ground with her finger.

"Tell me, Yamada Ken-kun. Is making Kobayashi Mariko suffer protecting you 'doing your part'?"
"..."
"Is forcing Tezuka Rei to act on her own because you lacked conviction to support her, 'doing your part'? Did showing up in the Research Club, which made Fujibayashi Rinko lash out, 'following our words'? Or getting Nakamura Eiji beaten up by that friend of yours, [Happiness]?"
"That's..."

"I'm not saying all of that is your fault. Some of these things are brought about by you merely existing..."
She removes her finger from the ground and points it at you.
"But it is your existence that caused this. One who's existence is to fulfill the purpose of this world. You took up the challenge of redeeming yourself. You want to live a noble life? Do you think your existence so far has been 'noble'?"

Iwata Riho's face was serious for a second, but then returns to her usual goofy smile.
"Your relationship right now is extraneous. And that is why I'll destroy it."

>>
>>2893414
>That doesn't make ANY sense. I didn't MAKE Mariko do anything, I asked. She agreed. I didn't force Rei to do anything either. I suggested, she agreed. Showing up in the Research Club was a decision I made, and Rinko lashing out was a decision SHE made- and decided to stop. Eiji getting beaten up was bad, of course, but we discussed the situation and it won't happen again.

>True Happiness takes effort. It's not instant. It's about recognizing your faults and living your best life trying to fix those faults, not getting everything you wanted on a silver platter without learning anything. And if that's all you're after? Instant Happiness?

Goddamit, I feel like I'm listening to a raliroading That GM of the worst sort. One that punishes players for not taking very specific actions they had no idea they had to take, then insisting everything was solely the players' fault.

I don't even know what to vote for, in my experience this kind of people is completely unreasonable.

Wait no, I know.

>If what you want is restoring the balance, why won't you actually do it? How is breaking my relationship going to help with that?
>>
>>2893519
He kinda is railroading because it's the same underlying problem as Princess Guard Quest: this is his VN game adapted to a quest format, so whenever we say or do shit that would solve the problem too quick he forces the issue. Difference being it's slightly easier to stomach since the whole thing is meta.

>>
>>2893532
Railroading in itself isn't the problem.
"You didn't let Rinko walk into an obvious trap, which let to Eiji being beaten (which you couldn't predict), and for that you have to be punished" is the problem.
Also I hope you're wrong in your implication that it's BSG who's railroading us and not the in-quest Iwata, because it's him who gave us the option to make this decision in the first place.
>>
>>2893573
Probably QM railroading, he has a pattern of it before hand making our character not act like we set him out to in an effort to force the story along his path.
>>
>>2893414
"That doesn't make ANY sense. I didn't MAKE Mariko do anything, I asked. She agreed. I didn't force Rei to do anything either. I suggested, she agreed. Showing up in the Research Club was a decision I made, and Rinko lashing out was a decision SHE made- and decided to stop. Eiji getting beaten up was bad, of course, but we discussed the situation and it won't happen again."

"You're not factoring in that those are decisions made because of your existence."
"What? You think I could help that? Me existing was out of my control. But what I do have control over, I try to achieve [Happiness] with."

"It sounds like you don't want anyone to actually WORK for their happiness. I was a NEET, yeah, but even I know that the reason my life sucked was because I didn't TRY. I don't want to make that mistake again- and I don't want these kids to make that mistake at all. That's all I'm trying to do. Do I think my existence has been noble? "I'm not," she says frowning. "And I resent that you feel that way about me. I want [Happiness] for them, for you even."

She sighs and shrugs her shoulders. "But it's obvious you still think none of this is your fault. You claim that what you're doing is for the cause, but you still look out for your own self-interests. You claim to be working for the [Happiness] of them all...yet here you are, with a girlfriend, a club, and, wow, even a newfound brotherhood! Your own selfish desires are what caused all this mess."

"So, what? You want me to live like a monk? Live solely for the purpose of his and their [Happiness]?"

"Indeed. That's conviction. I live for the sole purpose of achieving that. Why shouldn't I expect the same from you? Your cowardly brother couldn't take it, so he ran away...I guess it runs in the blood?"
"You..."
"You said it yourself. [Happiness] is not instant. It's not handed on a silver platter. Yet you do not commit fully. Instead aiming to balance it all out. You can't. You didn't do it in the past life, what makes you think you could do it now?"

She leans in, until your foreheads touch.
"I will not let my purpose be compromised by half-hearted idiots like you. So show me, Yamada Ken-kun. Show me conviction."

"Break up with Hanazawa Mayumi yourself, or I will."

She jogs over to the door off the rooftop. "And by the way, keep away from that brother of yours, okay?"
"...Why should I? Aren't you both scheming together?"
"Haha! You seem to be under the wrong impression, Yamada Ken-kun."

She looks back at you one last time before disappearing to the other side of the door.

"I hate that son of a bitch."

The one fucking thing we have in common.

We need to go tell Hanazawa. And we need to figure out how to retaliate. We can't sit on the back foot for this, and we don't NEED to. We HAVE a proper target now, not just a nebulous faceless mass.
>>
>>2893734
After that, the class ends with not much happening.
Iwata Riho now seats next to Nakamura Eiji, taking up Tokomichi Endou's place. She's been flirting with him all day long, much to the dismay of the class rep. (Tezuka Rei, as always, has been too "asleep" to take notice).

You're finishing up in fixing your things, when you notice the whole classroom goes quiet. A shadow looms over you.
You look up to see...

"Hanazawa."

You being a couple is now public knowledge. You don't know if the bullying will extend unto her...
Not to mention, you remember Iwata's intent...

"Yamada-kun, would you like to go home together?"

>Of course
>Not today, sorry
>>
>>2893777
>>Of course. We can talk later, too.
>>
>>2893763
I half agree. We definitely should tell Hanazawa, because the main weapon of breaking up couples is misunderstanding. But I don't think retaliating before anything happened is productive.

>>2893777
>Of course
>Tell her about Iwata's intent to break us up. Don't tell anything about Meta though; as far as we know, Iwata is just crazy.
>>

Actually, we could also plant some seeds, at the very least

>Speculate to her that Iwata's craziness is probably why she's trying to move in on Eiji, too.

We'll just let that info percolate as it will.
>>
>>2893814
What I meant was that we shouldn't get in Iwata's way as long as she doesn't get in ours, to not provoke her. If she thinks she needs to attack us because we're ruining her work, the worst thing we could do is confirm it.
>>
>>2893842
She's basically already SAID she's going to get in our way, though. Her idea of Happiness and ours are in opposition, so she's going to try to damage our reputation, as well as our relationship with Hanazawa. So we need to go ahead and be ready to combat that.
>>
>>2893777
"Of course. I wanted to talk to you, anyway."

She nods, and you quickly pack up all your things.

Before you leave, you glance at direction of Nakamura's seat.

Iwata Riho is missing.

----

"The weather is nice, huh?"
It was only when you crossed the gate of the school that Hanazawa started to talk.
"Er, yeah. It'll be summer soon."
You reply, but once again, Hanazawa goes silent. Did she really just want to walk home together?
She's been avoiding you recently too. Aside from your encounter at the grocery, you haven't really been able to spend time with her. Should you bring that up?
Not to mention, the Iwata issue...is that something you should talk to her about?

You decide to--
>Talk about her avoiding you recently
>Talk about Iwata Riho
>Wait for her to talk
>Write in
>>
>>2893854
Be ready to combat that, yes, attack first, no.
Do you think we can defeat the powers of this world? Who can control the very fabric of local reality?
Our goal should be to convince them that fighting is unnecessary.
>>
>>2893859
>Ask what's bugging her
Something clearly does, and talking about ourselves would be a bad move in this situation.
>>
Thinking about it, Yamada DOES have conviction. Since the very start, he has been adamant about his way. Even when the collective went against him, he resolved to continue his way. Even when Nakahara beat the shit out of him, he continued. When Nakahara begged for someone, anyone, to side with her - he continued.
Yamada does not stray from his path, under threat or coercion. He stays to what he believes is the correct path.
True happiness cannot exclude anyone. Not the devil, nor the angel, nor the damned.

"Ken-kun." Before you could finish your question, Hanazawa interrupts.
"...What is it?"

"Would...you like to come over to my house?"
Hanazawa blushes from ear to ear.

"My parents aren't home."

Also remember people:
Iwata Riho is the [Angel]
Our little bro is the [Devil]
Iwata Riho is a condescending cunt who wants to stop us from 'ruining the world' and implied that she wanted us to kill ourselves because our very existence is a problem to everybody (i.e. herself) getting [True End]. Completely ignorant that fucking with us WILL cause us to go full mutually-assured destruction on the world and bring about [Erasure].
Our little bro is a smug edgelord who keeps hiding shit from us and being annoyingly vague, but he's sympathetic to a degree due to his problem and role as the [Meta] character being a lonely existence of some suffering. He is very much aware we have the power to go full insane and cause [Erasure] of the world, and wants us to include him in getting [Happiness] on the way to [True End].

I think we'll need to give our bro a call sometime soon. Pic very much related.

Quick Q, you guys, are we going full M.A.D if they break us and Hanazawa up?

Because I'd be fully ok with that,Hanazawa doesn't deserve this anime's shit.
>>
Memes aside, I'll take another crack at analysis.
I don't think our brother is the true [devil]. The biblical Devil was one of god's own angels, but struck with Hubris. This angel believed that they knew better than God, and lacked faith in his creation - humans.
We know an [angel]. An angel which seeks to remove agency from [god] by manipulating events to have him choose her over the rest of the harem. This clearly shows that she believes that her judgement on the matter is superior to the conclusion that [god] would have naturally arrived at. What other trait does she possess? A [lack of faith]. In us, brought here by divine will to help [god]. In us, who IS god's friend.
My prediction is that [god] will reject the [angel], and she will grow fierce from it. She will retaliate, and in the end she will be rejected from his circle - what might be called [heaven], in a sense.
The [devil] is the ultimate sinner, being punished for their wicked deeds. Not a judge, as our brother seems to be.

The only question is, does the [true ending] require that we prevent the fall of the [devil]? Or will that event be fated to happen?
>>
>>2894158
I think of the opposite. We decided to achieve the [True End], [Happiness] for everyone, included her.
As we did with our "sister", we will receive her hatred and retaliate with love. Our path is the correct one.
>>
>>2894191
I don't disagree with this in premise. My first take of Riho's scheme was that her scope is too narrow. She wants to resolve the Harem for the MC, but that doesn't address the happiness of anyone but Eiji himself (theoretically).

She thinks we're half-assing it because we're not putting everything into resolving the situation. We think she's half-assing it because she's just taking the most convenient answer that resolves the equation ... there's no way that's a [True End].

Of course, if she were only shacking up with God because it gives her a possibility of surviving the end of this world, that would be a different thing entirely...

Just this second though, I'm more worried about the possibility of Hanazawa trying to wallpaper over relationship securities with physical intimacy though. Give her the present first, we should show that we've been thinking about her, not just playing around with the Sukeban.

It's kind of uncharacteristic of her to act this nervous. Is something the matter...?

Hanazawa finally gets the door open, and she hurriedly enters. You follow suit.
"Sorry for the intrusion..."

You go and take off your shoes, only to notice Hanazawa's standing in front of you. You straighten up, and thanks to her being a step higher, you meet each other eye to eye.

RIP in peace BSG's computer.

It's a 4 year old laptop with boot loop problems.

It usually just takes discharging the battery, but there were blue screens since a while ago so I backupped all I can in safe mode.

I'll probably buy a new battery later.

guys im scared....is this the last day we can enjoy ourselves? i don't want this day to end i mean i want a comfy life with Hanazawa. We gonna have 3 kids and live in this rural city far away from those pesky harem girls and Eiji.

Your hand goes to the front pocket of your bag. There you feel the silver bracelet, hidden inside a pouch bag.

You reach in, take her hand...

And slip it on her wrist.

Hanazawa, it seems, wasn't expecting what you did. Her eyes fly open, probably in part to the temperature of the band.

"Eh? Wha--"

You cut off her words with a kiss.
She lingers as you pull away, but in the end she stays put, breathing shallow.

"... Ken-kun..."

She looks up your gift in the light, tracing her fingers on the Sakura ornaments.

"Does there need to be an occasion?" You give the most genuine smile you can muster. "I miss you. I love you. Does there need to be any other reason?"

Hanazawa looks up from the band and gazes at you. You try to break the ice with a more goofy smile.

Hanazawa steps closer and hooks her arms under you.
"... You're so cheesy, Ken-kun. You have the words of an old geezer. "
" H-Haha... You dislike it?"

She stays in your chest, silent. "Hanazawa?"

"I forgive you," you answer quickly, "But for what?"

She giggles. "Idiot. If you don't even know, why are you forgiving me already?"

You shrug.
"...I'm sorry for making you miss me this much. There's a good reason for it..." she says. "Though... I wonder if I ignored you more, will I get a gold band instead?"
"Please don't."

Hanazawa laughs. "This is an unfair sneak attack, Ken-kun." Her voice goes lower, her eye lashes fluttering. "Now you're stirring me all up."

Her breath stops. Hanazawa looks up at you, and you could swear you see twinkling in her beautiful irises.

If you go now, nothing will stop you.

And you didn't back them up, probably. Damn.
As long as we get them when the time is right canonically, then it's all good. Getting the lewdbin now when we don't have it actually happening in-story or after the fact, is shit. Better to do it like you did last time:
>leadup to lewd scene
>fade to black
>aftermath
>quest goes on as normal
>canon lewdbin posted after the fact
whereas right now we have
>leadup to lewd scene
>cockblock by shitty brother
so the lewd stuff that would have happened normally can still happen some other time - meaning posting the lewdbin is a shitty move while we're at this sort of limbo state
>>
>>2898223
"Yukio!" Hanazawa turns around. From her tone, it's clear she wasn't expecting anyone neither.

"What are you doing here?"
"They canceled club."
"Liar. I saw the basketball team jogging just a while ago."

"Well," he shrugs as if caught, despite not hiding it at all. "With mom and dad out I thought this little prick would make a move."
"*I* invited him over."
"You really shouldn't. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing, a wolf."

"Yeah, it's high time I spent some time with my girlfriend." You saying that clearly irked Yukio. "My sworn sister can handle herself."

"Wow, so you finally showed your true colors and became a blight to society huh. Nee-san, leave this guy before he extorts a kid to death or something."
"Yukio..." Hanazawa looks uncomfortable, so you try to change the subject.

"So, you're in the basketball club?"
"What, 1v1 me? When you lose, leave my sister alone. And when I win, leave my sist--gak!"

You didn't notice that Hanazawa has grabbed the morning paper by the doorway. She had to jump to reach, but he smacks him over the forehead with a makeshift paper fan.

"N-Nee-san, that hurt..."
"I've just had about enough of you and your disrespect! Ken-kun is your senpai and my boyfriend. Don't you dare think that you could decide who I date with a basketball game!"
"It was hyperbol--ow!"
"Shut up!"

Yukio rubs her head while Hanazawa smacks the paper fan in her hand like a drill Sargeant with a whip.

"You go to your room, and if I go there and catch you not studying, there won't be any dinner for you, got that?!"

Yukio turns around to give you a death glare, but Hanazawa cocks back the fan again.

"I'll be listening in to see if you do anything to my sister!"
"No you won't!"
"Yes I wil--owow, I'm going I'm going!"

He jogs up the stairs, but before turning the corner, he shouts down the stairs.

"If I catch you doing anything, you won't even have time to hide behind your violent friend!"

Yukio disappears, and with that, Hanazawa sighs.

"That kid, honestly..."

Wait so by that logic
If the [angel] is Lucifer
And our brother the [devil] is really the judge
And Eiji is [God]
Is MC potentially either the [Messiah] or the [Endbringer] depending entirely on player choices? Either we successfully bring about true end and make everyone happy or bring about erasure.
>>
>>2898401
>And our brother the [devil] is really the judge
Remember that Satan is actually the judge on the side of Law and not Chaos. Shin Megami Tensei is great for teaching that.
>>
>>2898407
Satan and Lucifer are the same being, conceptually, aren't they?
I mean the word Satan is based off of Shaitan, which is the type of Djinni that Iblis is in islamic mythos, and Iblis more or less has the same story that Lucifer of christian mythos has. (He got angry that god made a new creation because he thought it meant that Djinni weren't good enough for him, and got punished by god to become a shadow which whispers temptations to men as a result, etc etc)

So SMT aside, I would think that lucifer and satan are one and the same.
>>
>>2898407
True he's not the chaotic rebel everyone makes him out to be in modern media. More like he's the ultimate rule lawyer trying to tempt humanity so that he can prove how much they actually suck to God when the end times happen. Doesn't make him any less of a evil, petty dick.
>>
>>2898377
"It's fine," you say. "But was he always like this?"

"Not at all," Hanazawa says with a sigh. "He used to be such a cute kid when he was younger. I think it's just growing pains."

She folds open again the newspaper and puts it away.

"Although, even when he was young he already had a mean streak..."
"Huh. Kind of reminds me of Fumi."

Upon the mention of her name, Hanazawa glances up the stairs, before tip toeing in to whisper.

"Actually...Yukio's been curious about her recently. Like asking my relation to her, or how she knows you..."
"Ehh? Could this be...?"

Hanazawa smiles a grin only a proud older sister can have.

"Thank you. Even if you don't have to..."
"Hey. He's your sibling. I want to help him to, if I can."
She sighs.

Hanazawa's room is similar to yours in many aspects. The furnishings are bare, even the walls are a plain, forgettable yellow paint. Is this an effect of her being a [Mob]?

The only differences is that her bookshelf is way more stacked with Manga than yours. And of course, the bright flashing dual-screen computer in the middle of it all, complete with a keyboard that flashes and a black-red racing chair.

You sit down on the table on the middle while Hanazawa goes through her wardrobe.

The bookshelves from the front seem to be filled with your standard Mangas, even though a girl reading this much Shonen is kind of bizarre.

But the interesting things are definitely in the back of the shelf.

You sneak over, double checking if Hanazawa has returned, and peek at the back of the bookshelf.

"... Damn it, it's too dark..."

You push the shelf for a bit, letting more of the light to get in. You see eyes. Small, beady black eyes, like a rat's, in deformed hairy bodies. Broken needles stick out of their skin, and dismembered parts of feet, ears and tail lay astrew.

"Wha--"
You back away, and hit something. Hanazawa's leg.

"Hanazawa...!"

She's standing there, holding a tray of beverages. You didn't even hear her come in.

"You saw... Didn't you...?"

She says in an emotionless voice.
With sunken cheeks and irises of black.
