You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A High first year student, third place in the Sports Festival's Obstacle Race, one of the horses of Team Yaoyorozu in the Cavalry Battle, one of the four semifinalists in the Tournament, watching the current match on a T.V. in the infirmary and trying to process some stuff.

You just tried to cheer up a sad friend with some kind words, advice and candy, but Uraraka pushed you away and left, making it clear that she wasn't happy with you. Well, actually, it sounded like she was trying to keep herself from screaming at you.

Something Sero said could be related to something he called The Ushi Memo...

That shook you a bit. What does having a memo about you mean? It's… You don't know what to think of that. Back in Texas, your classmates always made sure you knew how little they liked you. Except last year, when it was more of a race to get into your pants and get their hands under your shirt.

That makes it something new and scary. On the whole, once you take out the threat of murder by villains, your school experience in japan has been almost perfect, and you'd really like to keep it that way, being either friends or friendly with all… With most of your classmates anyway.

The only other bother keeping classes from being ideal is currently putting the pressure on Kirishima back in the ring, dodging his blows and landing hit after hit to the center of Kirishima's chest.

Unlike the single hit Kirishima landed a few minutes ago, each one of Bakugo's hits do little to no damage, being stopped by his Hardening. But even scratches pile up, and Kirishima seems to be getting sluggish, with his own punches becoming slower and even easier to dodge for the agile blond boy.

He may be as annoying as a wasp in an outhouse, but you can't deny that he's a nigh-unhittable, dangerous and relentless fighter... Kind of like a wasp.

Still, most of the blows being thrown either did nothing or were dodged, letting your mind drift back to whatever the memo could be about or who wrote it…

...And come back blank. Not a single gal or guy in class feels like the type to go talking behind your back. Most of them are too nice for that, Bakugo is too direct and prideful to do it covertly and Mineta is just a nasty pervert, not a bully.

But you don't have to figure it out anyway.

"Alright sugar, spill the beans. What's this memo business all about?" You ask the bedridden Sero, crossing your arms.

The boy tries to look away and avoid your gaze for a few seconds, but your narrowing glare eventually gets to him.

>"Well…" He starts, scratching the back of his neck. "A while ago I got this text that said to be patient with you. It says everyone, so I thought everyone got it. I'm not so sure now though."

"Can Ah see it?" You ask him, looking at his phone next to his pillow. "Cat's outta the bag already anyway."

>"Just… Don't squish the messenger." He says, picking it up, unlocking it and opening an old text before handing it to you. "...And don't go digging in my phone."

You glance at the screen and then back at him, with an eyebrow raised.

"Squish the messenger? Why would Ah do that?" You ask, looking back down at the phone.

It's a smallish chain of texts, sent privately.

>Alright, heads up everyone.
>Here's a reminder: Ushi doesn't know how to talk properly. Shocker.
>Obviously, her japanese almost sounds the same as that from Hokkaido, it's hard to make sense of at times with the added drawl and she rarely goes for any etiquette beyond using honorifics.
>Even when she uses those, her general attitude and tone look and sound mocking and or condescending.
>So keep that in mind when you talk to her, hear her out and try to take her words at face value.
>She's studying to be a hero like all of us and is already the VP for being a nice girl, so don't let her mooing sour your opinion of Walker.
>Be a bit more patient, she's a nice "gal" to have around.
>Also, don't tell her about this, she wouldn't like this.

You then quickly scroll back up and check the sender.

Jiro Kyoka.

>"I don't know, it never makes sense." He answers, laughing nervously and raising the sheets to cover his face. "But I don't want to take chances with a permanent quirk."

>What do you do?

>[How dare she! Go back to your seat and confront Jiro right now! "Damn right I wouldn't like it!"]

Ushi was not expecting this to happen, and it's kind of a big deal. I don't necessarily want to blow it off, but I definitely don't want to go all "how dare you!" in Jiro's face about it. It was theoretically meant well even if execution and phrasing was off. But Jiro is a sarcastic individual and I don't want to attribute malice to this.
Either way, it's a bit of a shock and I don't think Ushi has the time to properly think this through. I'd rather not go with gut instinct.

Good jumping off point to tackle the issue next time we have a moment with the class. “Won’t tell you from who, but I found out about the Ushi memo. Guys, she used a fucking slur about us - used our words in airquotes [i]and[/i] is hitting on a whole host of our insecurities and worries.

It wouldn't be weird for something like this to completely make Ushi question every friendship she has and wonder if they're doing it out of pity. In essense; we should be angry as fuck because this is hitting Ushi in places she doesn't even let anyone know she hurts.

"Drop that sheet, you already look like a mummy, the ghost shtick is too much." You tell Sero, handing him back his phone.

>"No hard feeling...?" He asks relieved as he leaves the sheet fall, before being interrupted by you.

"Not now." You say, raising a finger and shoving your hand right in front of his face, but quickly pulling your hand back a second later. "Sorry! Ah… I need to think about this, and I don't have time to really think about anything right now..."

You then go back to your bed and sit, trying to push this whole thing to the back of your head and focusing on watching the ongoing match and resting for yours.

It doesn't looks like much has happened since you last glanced at the screen, as Kirishima's arms work like pistons trying to connect a hit with Bakugo while enduring his blasts to the head, with the blond just rocketting backwards and barely out of the redhead's reach in the nick of time.

Being the fastest on the ring, it makes perfect sense to you that it's Bakugo who holds the initiative, as he propels himself forwards the moment Kirishima pulls his arms back to blast again at his foe's battered chest.

But it seems that the fight's pattern wasn't lost on Kirishima, as he sees the explosive jab coming, but doesn't attempt a cross counter this time, winding his arm for a straight punch at Bakugo's hand instead.

He is, of course, too slow to actually hit him before taking the explosion to the darkened spot in his chest, but he just winces and throws his punch when Bakugo tries to pull back with his explosions, driving his angular fist through the explosion and forcing it into a cone as he briefly connects with his foe's palm.

The impact only lasts for a fraction of a second, with Bakugo quickly making some distance between them and holding his right arm, slowly bending his wrists and wincing.

That makes you think. As far as you've seen, the only two times Kirishima has managed to land a blow it has caused serious pain, but he's been chipped away at the whole fight. And you have no doubts that were not for the fight with Deku and subsequent healing sapping his stamina, Bakugo would have an even easier time avoiding Kirishima's attacks.

>"That's probably it." Sero comments, looking your way and holding his chin. "No way he can keep up that speed now that he got his hand hurt, right?"

You just raise an eyebrow and nod, focusing back on the screen.

>"It sounds weird, doesn't it?" Sero continues, shrugging and grinning, looking at you once more. "Slowing down for a burnt hand?"

"I agree." You succinctly answer, trying to keep up with the match on the screen.
>>
Turns out Sero was wrong, as Bakugo doesn't seem to slow down, losing control instead as he's forced to keep fighting and dodging with only one hand, making his movements look sloppy when turning with his hurt right hand.

One such sloppy turn costed him dearly, as Kirishima didn't waste the chance to throw not one, but two jabs at his guts, connecting both and making you wince as the spit goes flying off the blond's mouth.

But he doesn't fall, nor bends down, looking far madder than in pain.
It almost looks like his eyes are about to pop off his face as he charges back on, still on his feet, screaming and bringing a memory back to the forefront of your mind.

It looks almost the same as that time you stopped him from attacking Deku the first day of class. Almost, as he looks like he's still keeping it together, even if it's just a ball of rage that he's keeping together.

Oddly enough, it seems that he has somewhat of an easier time dodging with his footwork, keeping his explosions to small bursts to get him away from close calls and for another blast at Kirishima's chest, making him wince but not getting any other reaction out of him.

It almost looks like they are about to fall into another routine-

>"If it helps, I didn't pay any mind to it till now." Sero suddenly says, awkwardly looking in your general direction but not straight at your eyes. "Everyone in class is a bit kooky anyway, you just are cute and american on top of that."

>What do you do?

Even though a tiny, jaded part of you may want to lash out at Sero for taking advantage of a moment of vulnerability to get close to you, you choose to take his kindness at face value.

"...Thanks. That's one person who isn't trying to be patient." You reply, giving him a faint smile. "Just let me know if you notice me sticking my foot in my mouth. Ah… I want to be better."

He looks a bit surprised at that, but quickly shrugs it off and smiles.

>"Sure! Just… Don't try too hard. We may be in the best and hardest hero course in the country, but I'm starting to think we are forgetting we are still highschool freshmen… " He replies, beginning to drag his words by the end as his eyes go wide. "Crap."

Curious, you keep looking at him as he brings his hand to his paling face and presses, pulling down enough for you to see the inside of his eyelids before letting go.

"Are you okay?" You ask, waving a hand in his general direction.

>"I just realized I've not even looked at my notes, and midterms are just around the corner." He answers, giving a small nervous laugh. "At least it's just midterms though… We can make up for it on the exams!"

"Oh, I've been studying on the weekends." You tell him, waving that particular concern away.

>"..." He just stares into the void for a second before sighing and shrugging. "Well, I guess I better start catching up."

You quickly smile and open your mouth, about to offer him to come and study with Momo and you, but shut your pie hole just as fast, letting your teeth clack. You should probably talk with Momo first.

After all, she may not even like you.

...Dang.

Forcing that whole issue back inside that seemingly flimsy box in the back of your mind, you nod awkwardly and shrug, focusing back on the T.V.

"...Is it just me, or is Kirishima looking softer?" You ask, noticing that the boy's limbs seem to have better anti-aliasing now.

>"Man's been throwing punches for ten minutes straight, even without the explosions that's gotta take a lot out of you." Sero points out. "And the steel guy punched his lights out earlier too. Kinda amazing he's been holding out for so long."

Despite Bakugo looking the most battered of the two, he refuses to slow down his offensive, pushing forwards despite his injuries and managing to get Kirishima to start stepping back with a quick barrage of explosions.

Even to those who didn't notice Kirishima's rounder edges, it's not hard to see how each explosion is affecting the boy more and more, as he doesn't look like he's grunting anymore, but flat out screaming with each blow. Still, the redhead doesn't let Bakugo stomp over him, trading blows and making him suffer for each step he had to take back.

"And he's still keeping up with Bakugo." You comment, gripping the bed's sheets as the worn out boys on the ring start straight up trading punches, spicing it up with hardened fists and explosive strikes, tearing apart their ragged jackets as they were nothing.

It's kind of impressive… No, it's straight up impressive how they keep fighting.

Kirishima's chest is not only battered and bruised, but sports a very scary looking dark patch in the middle that even though it looks more like he tried to crush charcoal between his percs than a burn, you don't even want to imagine how it feels.

Bakugo is not much better, and you can only think that because he doesn't look burnt. His right wrist looks swollen and his abs could very well pass as a single large bruise, but his posture remains as defiant as his grin is wide.

"<Jesus Christ...>" You let out as you stare at the screen. Part of you wishes that someone would stop them, but you really want to see how it ends.

Kirishima seems to be having trouble keeping his hardening up and Bakugo's hands are shaking, but both of them seem to be having the time of their lives beating the living daylights out of each other, as Kirishima tries his best to wrap up the match as soon as possible.

And it's a damn good show, even with Present Mic's redundant commentary of what's happening on the screen, as Bakugo throws himself into close combat to deal with the ever reckless Kirishima.

Despite how long the fight has been going on and the fact that their bodies glisten with sweat, Bakugo's explosions don't seem to be losing any power, unlike the redhead's fading armor.

>"Careful with that ankle!" Sero suddenly says, making you look at the combatants' feet.

And you can see why he said it. Kirishima's earlier trick of stabbing his feet into the concrete left the ring looking like an unlucky pox victim or Los Angeles streets, full of holes on which to trip, like the one Kirishima just backpedaled into.

That's the moment it all ends, as the boy loses his balance and focus for long enough for the blond to deliver a palm strike to his nose and push, throwing him on his back and leaving him with his face between the concrete ring and Bakugo's smoking hand and manic grin.

To his credit, Kirishima stares at him for a whole six seconds before letting his head fall back and concede.

Of course, you can't help but clap at the T.V. for the good show, even if Bakugo didn't return Kirishima's bow or shook his hand before waltzing on, it was a good fight to watch.

At least, till Recovery Girl spun on her swivel chair and looked at you disapprovingly.
That shut you up really fast.

>"As much as I like Kirishima's attitude better, I think it's for the best that he lost here." Sero says, letting himself fall back onto his pillow. "He would have single handedly added an entire hour to the tournament if he had to fight on all rounds."

"Yeah… Still, I'm sure the pros will want him." You reply, nodding. Kirishima is just nice to have around, and has been since the first day of school… Then you notice something worth pointing out. "Won't he have to fight for the third place though?"

"I'm getting out of soon, remember?" You tell him, pointing at the brackets as they appear on the corner of the screen, showing that you'll have to fight Pony for a spot in the finals.

>"Not too soon though." Sero shoots back, pointing at the main segment of the screen, showing Cementoss patching up the ring.

Then the infirmary door is kicked open, as Bakugo waltzes in, hands in his pants pockets before coming to stand before you.

>"Hey!... Good job?" Sero tells him.

>"That's my bed." Bakugo informs you, despite the fact that you are already sitting on it. "You can stay if you want though."

>What do you-

And then he drops forwards, landing on the bed behind you.

You, of course, jump to your feet.

>"Boys. More guts than common sense most of the time..." Says Recovery Girl as she hops off her chair and walks up to the new occupant of what was your bed before turning to look at you. "Well, you should be going anyways, isn't that right deary?"

We're a bit better at talking through actions than words, let's do things do good ol'shonen way
>>
"Yeah, I'll be going now." You tell the school nurse, stretching for a second before giving her a proper bow. "Sorry about the bed, I would clean and fix it, but…"

You then motion with your hand towards the unconscious, shirtless boy laying face down over the covers. Were it not by the way his wrist twitches and the way his back shifts every so often, you'd be checking for a pulse.

"Wait, hang on." You say, carefully reaching for Bakugo's head and turning it slightly to the side before sliding a pillow under it, allowing him to breathe a little bit better. "There. Again, sorry for not cleaning after myself. And thank you very much for taking care of me."

>"Oh, don't you worry dear, just try to be a visitor next time you come here." The youthful heroine says, leaning forwards and kissing the boy's bruised arm, making the bruise fade away almost completely. "And about him, I doubt he will notice anything wrong with the bed after overstressing that much. Or anything at all for that matter. Now go get ready for your match while you can."

>"Yeah! You need to go face her and avenge me, VP!" Sero says, waving his finger in the air with a bit of tape, mimicking a tiny flag with an "A" written on it. "Fair warning though, keep away from the horns. I mean, locking horns would look cool, but she hits like a bullet train and has a lot more reach."

"...Goodbye, Sero." You quickly reply, stiffly turning towards the door and marching out without looking back.

You aren't mad, so it would be weird if he saw the odd twitchy thing your lower left eyelid started doing. After all, you are perfectly aware of that size difference, and how those things make her look like a walking BBQ fork.

So you close the door behind you and take a deep breath, blowing the steam out of your nose. You would never say that, it'd be rude.

Being back on your feet, you take a second to do a quick routine of stretching exercises and think about what to do for the last few minutes you have before your fight.

By the time you are done bending over backwards to grab your ankles, you decide to just make sure your body is ready.

After a quick trip to the restroom to refresh yourself, you take to the concession stands to get some fuel back, knowing you can't just keep going running on candy, as tasty as the idea would sound.

The plan was simple, go out there, pick something that smelled nice and balance back your inner mass storage before running back to the stadium.

But once you got out there, it was somewhat… odd.

You were only going to buy a bite and find some soft ground in which to dump the additional tons you are dragging, but you quickly notice that the ambient noise and chatter quickly get lower and even hushed when you started walking between the vendor stalls.
>>
The people were looking at you, and talking between themselves too softly for you to hear anything they were saying.

You can't really help but act as you used to do in such situations in the past, sashaying with a confident smile on your face, keeping the worry you felt hidden as you followed your nose to a nice smelling taiyaki stand.

"Howdy. How much for a chocolate filled one?" You start, pointing at an enticing fish shaped pastry.

It may be a bit… well, fairly embarrassing, but keeping your debit card and a few bills in your cleavage looked to be a pretty good idea-

>"Don't worry Walker, it's on me." The stand owner says, picking two of the fishes and handing them to you in a paper towel.

"Uh?" You let out, confused but taking them anyway, taking a bite and taking a good look at the owner-.

A large man wearing a once stained once white apron, almost as wide as he's tall, which isn't much, sporting a somewhat flushed face with small tusks and a pig like snout. Yet, despite all that, the most striking feature on his face has to be his wide and toothy grin.

>"After taking out Todoroki and Yaoyorozu, I'm sure that my bet on you to win this here thing was right." The man says with a heavy accent and giving a loud and hearty laugh. "So have your fill! You won't want to be distracted in the finals after all!"

"What are you… What can you even gamble?" You ask him between bites, thoroughly enjoying your snack and letting your facade slip away. You don't know the guy, but something between the accent and attitude reminds you of home.

You may be at the other side of the globe, but it still feels like you are eating your allowance at a carnival back in Texas.

>"Me and the guys around here." He says, waving a hand at the stands surrounding you. "We usually bet on the freshmen to see who gets to set up shop first the next year and bragging rights. Makes hearing old Mic shout his commentary so much more engaging!"

"Why me though?" You ask again, slurping down the fish's chocolate guts.

>"Well, you're the kinda folk I'd like to see patrolin' the streets." He says, shrugging. "Couldn't tell you before, but Ah think it's the honest country aura. Makes ya look approachable!"

>"AND NOW WE ARE READY FOR OUR NEXT MATCH, THE FIRST OF THE ROUND!!!" A small radio next to the vendor suddenly blares, jumping up and down the counter before you could stop to ponder on the vendor's words.

"I hope that's not my cue." You say, scarfing down your first taiyaki and biting into the second, running a few steps next away from the stand before turning around and waving at the man. "<Phanks!>"

The way back feels, for some reason, much nicer. You take a small detour to lay your hands on the ground and compact it a bit, but you run at full speed back to and into the stadium, waving back at those who waved at you and entertaining the thought that those who prefer to huddle and whisper amongst themselves might be saying something nice.

It's not a particularly long dash and it certainly wasn't enough to wind you, but making it back to your gate in time for your intro made you sweat a bit, if only because you worry about making it in time.

>"NOW IT'S TIME TO SEE WHO WILL BE THE GIRL TO MAKE IT TO THE FINAL!!!" Your english teacher shouts as the large screen shifts to show your and Pony's name and faces.

>"SHE HAS SHOWN GREAT POWER AND FLEXIBILITY, FRESH BUT REFUSING TO BE FROZEN, WALKER USHI!!!" Present Mic yells into his mic, prompting the crowd to start cheering and you to exit your gate and get to the ring.

You don't even need to do a flashy entrance, the crowd is already pumped up and calling your name. If you had any doubts about how breaking out of the ice during your last match looked like, they are no more. It must have been pretty awesome.

>"AGAINST THE LAST STUDENT OF CLASS B, THE UNBROKEN FILLY OF THE CIMARRON, CALIFORNIA. TSUNOTORI PONY!!!" Announces Present Mic, as Pony enters the ring from the opposite end.

You are still a bit tired and your head still feels like you might have some cobwebs to clean at the bottom of your skull, but you can still read Pony like a book, as her large eyes pretty much trace a path from her position, around the ring and at your back, probably to build up speed.

Standing in front of her, you can see that Pony is still pretty roughed up after her last fight, with some tightly wrapped bandages around her forearms and hands and an adhesive one on her cheek. They all look clean and she doesn't smell like blood, but you know they can't be fully treated, or she would be too tired to stand up.

"<Hey, Pony...>" You say to get Pony's attention, getting her to look at you straight in the eye and whip her tail. Yeah, she's still upset. "<Ah know this might not be the best time... or the right place but... I wanna say Ah'm sorry. You deserve to be here, and Ah didn't wanna imply the otherwise.>"

It can't be more than a couple seconds, but it's more than enough for her large blue eyes to show you her anger… and a fair bit of sadness.

>"<...You still did though. And you weren't wrong...>" She replies, looking down and pawing her hoof at the new concrete for an instant, before huffing and looking at you again. "<This is all, like… like really hard! I don't even know if I'd be here if you hadn't helped me study for the written exam...>"

That's… You aren't sure of what that is. You almost dismiss it right after she says it, but you hold your tongue before running your mouth and potentially fucking things up even more.

>"BEGIN!!!" Present Mic then shouts, officially starting the match.

Knowing that Pony is about to run in your general direction to try and flank you, you choose to intercept her before she gets her momentum going and charges, running to meet her midway through her the moment she drops down to all fours.

Running with a hand stuck to your thigh is a bit awkward, but it allows you to use your quirk on yourself at the drop of a hat, perfect to cut off Pony's attempt to go around you by growing to a towering 16 feet, more than three time taller than her. (Horns notwithstanding...)

>"<I will never know if I made it here alone!>" She declares as you block her way, not slowing down or turning to the side, but kicking off the ground with her hooves and launching herself at you head on, hitting your face like a cannonball before you could even raise your arms to protect yourself. "<But I need to know that I deserve it!>"

If there's one good thing about the iron and vanillin taste of your own blood getting into your mouth from your hit nose, is that all of her momentum went into delivering the skull rattling hit, dropping her at your feet.

But it was just that, a skull rattling hit. You are sure your nose isn't broken, but it still hurts like you had run into a wall, with the accompanying headache. All in all, you are lucky it wasn't enough to knock you on your back, but it was close.

Still, even though you feel like you could shake your brain off through your ears if you tilted your head, Pony's moves are still obvious as she looks behind her and starts back pedaling.

If you had been the one dealing the bloody noses, you would try to go for an encore too!

i'm just wondering how pony has ten freakin dice to use on her attacks when she kept getting brutalized in all of her fights
>>
>>2930083
None hit her Feet.
>>
>>2930134
But she attacks by headbutting things, anon
>>
>>2930154
How do you charge something? What muscles do you use? I'll wait.
>>
>>2930170
What muscles stiffen when you strike something with your head? You don't want it to be slack when you hit someone, that's for sure. The feet are just for building momentum, the actual attack and the skill of the attack is in the head and its muscles, primarily the neck to be honest.
>>
>>2930186
Okay, then why did she have ten dice? Her Brains is at around 0, and her Face can't be that high... maybe this roll used her Feet stat that's pretty high, her P.E. skill that she has trained, and her Quirk?

No wait that's exactly what happened, Weird. It's almost like you don't have a Neck stat.
>>
>>2930186
Mechanically, her attacks us her feet. That's why it's relevent that she never took foot damage.
>>
>>2930201
I know that's what was mechanically done, you don't have to be so weirdly hostile and aggressive about it, anon. Seems like you're just trying to be an asshole right now.
My point was that I don't think that style of attack should be keyed to feet stat, even if that's the way the QM did it.
>>
Varara
>>
>>2930211
What Stat should it be keyed to?
>>
>>2930211
there's no neck stat. And running faster means more powerful headbutts. So feet is the next best thing.
>>
>>2930216
One of the stats centered around the head of the individual, since it's a headbutt. There's two relevant ones, but it's not really mashing your face into someone so much as bashing your skull into someone, so I'd go with brains personally. The brain bucket's strength is what's important there.
>>
>>2930228
I was never arguing about a neck stat, I know it doesn't exist. I was talking purely about muscles when I mentioned it, and a headbutt has more to do with HEAD muscles than it does with LEG muscles.
>>
>>2930232
Brains is meant for smarts stuff, not how hard your head is.
Because Pony is kinda dumb, she has a low brain stat. but she's good at headbutting.
So if it was a brain stat, there'd be a weird overlap where regular concussions make you smarter because you end up with a harder head.
>>
>>2930232
Honestly, I disagree. Your neck just needs to be braced, it's not pulling the effort to make a hit. And Pony seems to use her buildup of speed as a way to make her headbutts count.

>>2930245
Also makes a good point.
>>
>>2930245
I don't think Pony is dumb, I think she doesn't have a strong grasp on the Japanese language and that makes her look less intelligent as a result. Along with being a little too trusting.
>>
>>2930253
Mechanically, I think she has a 2 in Brains. It's definitely not anywhere above average.

Guys, we've almost thrown this by being fancy and messing around with grapples.

Let's stop risking this and focus.

Step 1: Get huge, we have insane stats including strength All Might wouldn't sniff at.

Step 1.5: Sit down so we don't get TIMBERRRD on a lucky roll for Pony

Step 2: Swat, pick up, push or do whatever to remov pony from the ring. Like a child playing with their dolls.

Step 3: Fight the bakugo.
>>
>>2930977
Should have keeped the entire mass. Also we are making the same misyake as Iida did we are stalling the fight while what we should be doing it trying to win.
>>
Let's recount every fight we've had so far.
>Use wrestling moves
>We get put at disadventage
>"Oh gee, better bring out the BIG GUNS"
>Use our quirk and win
When are we going to learn to just jump to the last step instead of dragging this slow as fuck quest?
>>
If we win this one despite fucking up so bad, we'll go all out from the start against Bakugo
>>
>>2931058
I know, right? Why do we keep using wrestling instead of our way stronger quirk? We aren't skilled enough at wrestling for it to be viable yet!
>>
>>2931058

I agree with you my friend.
USJ was our shining moment of using our quirk to our advantage intead of a backup option.
Though I will allow that Wrestling vs Shoto was great, we did START by doing crazy quirk shit. So it's a moot point.
>>
>>2931058
I think another issue is we don't seem to understand we can take more than 1 action. We can grow ourselves and dodge, it's just going to change what dice we roll. we seem to focus on on;y doing 1 thing every turn.
>>
>>2931071
You're right, even if I want to develop alternatives to our Quirk, now's not the time to train.
>>
>>2931058
I've seen this before in other quests. There's a notion that obvious moves tend to be punished, while unexpected moves are rewarded. That is, everyone's expecting Ushi to gigantify or go for the shrink touch, so SURELY they have a plan for that. The thing is that we haven't even really tried either of those, so we're just sort of flinching from the phantom of punishment.

That said, it made sense against Momo, who very likely was prepared for the obvious. Shoto was an overwhelming threat and we probably would've lost if we didn't get as legit inventive as we did. Pony, however, doesn't have Momo's intellect or Shoto's strength to give us reason to avoid the obvious "embiggen into a shrink touch" combo.

Even though you feel like you should be holding your head still to keep your grey matter smoothie from leaking out, you just wipe the thin line of blood streaming down your nose and brace yourself, trying to keep track of Pony through your teary eyes.

>"WOAH!!! AND WALKER TAKES THE FIRST BLOW, AND TO THE FACE AT THAT!!!" Present Mic comments through the speaker system. "EVEN WITHOUT USING HER QUIRK'S FULL POWER, TSUNOTORI ONCE MORE PROVES HERSELF TO BE SOMEONE YOU DON'T WANT TO FACE IN A MELEE!!!"

>"An open ring to build up speed and without any cover for her foes is ideal for her to show her strengths." Mr. Aizawa adds. "However, Walker too is at her strongest when she can grab her enemy. No matter what, it will end in a melee of sorts."

>"WHY IS SHE RUNNING AWAY THEN!!!!?" Present Mic replies, somehow louder.

Considering Pony's the only other moving thing in the ring, it's not hard to see her... Turn around and run away.

Of course, you give chase, knowing what she's trying to do.

>"Her power increases dramatically once her speed surpasses a certain threshold." Your homeroom teacher explains."A longer run-up, would potentially be enough to reach it and end this match."

Thanks your new size, it only takes you a couple of powerful strides to cut Pony off again, leaving little room to charge after her wide turn at the edge of the ring.

It was a larger run-up than you hoped she could get, but at least her horns still look like bone and keratin.

She looks somewhat surprised to find you so close, but she doesn't hesitate to accelerate as much as she can as she runs towards you, even managing to start igniting the glow as she charges towards you with a furious neigh.

Being on her way and seeing her come at you once more, horns gleaming, you brace yourself again and ready your hands, preparing to catch her first.

The moment she gets within arms' reach, your hands shoot forwards and grab her by the horns, draining most of her momentum down your arms and into your body, making you stumble a step back and making every joint in your fingers groan and feel like it's about to snap, forcing you to relax your elbows before something break, allowing her to perform a last jump before you can stop her, driving your hands against your chest and ending in a painful hit right on the lone star, getting the wind partially headbutted out of your lungs.

You aren't really sure what to think of that, other than hoping it wouldn't bruise too bad, but you don't get to dwell on it, as Pony's thrashing against your chest brings the fact that you are still holding her by the horns back to your attention, allowing you to instantly retaliate.

Still holding her by the horns, you swing her over your shoulder back first, not letting her go until the arc turns down and hearing her gasp as her back slams against the concrete behind you with a thankfully dry thud.

Rolled 4, 1 = 5 (2d10)

You quickly whip your neck around to check how's Pony, but the moment your head turns, you start feeling really dizzy and somewhat sick, as a coughing fit hits you, forcing you to cover your mouth and nose to hide any blood.

>"THAT WAS CLOSE!!! TSUNOTORI JUST BARELY STAYS WITHIN THE LIMITS, BUT CAN SHE CONTINUE!!!?" Present Mic says. "CAN WALKER!!!? SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE'S ABOUT TO JOIN TSUNOTORI ON THE GROUND!!! WILL TSUNOTORI RISE TO THE FINALS?!!! OR WILL WALKER STAND STRONG?!!!"

>"Or maybe someone stops a match before anyone gets seriously injured..." Mr. Aizawa adds.

It doesn't quite feel like the ice's gentle call for sleep, but your body is being really clear.
You need to catch your breath, or it'll be nap time.
Probably with some violent expectoration or worse thrown in.

>>2934157

Bakugo is also injured from fighting Deku and redhead so it isn't too bad. However, we can't go slow on the next fight with the damage we have taken. We either win on the first turn or loose. This I think might do it.

Grab Bakugo by enlarging your arm similar to austin tossin (use the oposite arm to what you used on momo to minimise joint strain) but do not throw him. Instead, shrink him along with the arm.
>>
>>2934271
Easier to just go Max Size and just swipe at him, at max size any hit is likely to knock him out
>>
>>2934021
>[Roll them all]
>>
>>2934361

It takes a turn to go max size, with us starting with even lower health than we had against Pony we'll loose before we get a hit in. We could grow to max size and swipe in the same turn but then we'd have to have a -1 to both rolls. I'd prefer to roll one 5d10 over a 4d10(to grow) then a 3d10(remaining hands+wrestling-1).
>>
>>2934361
He is also extremely fast amd we get very sluggish at max size. I think with Bakugou the use of iur shrink and grow to dodge and get close to grab him will be a better idea.
>>
>>2934404
And shrinking in the vicinity of explosives still sounds retarded.
>>
>>2934396
Is there actually any rule about growing to max size before we enter the ring with him?
Our quirk has a permanent effect until undone, so I don't think it'd be exactly disallowed. And it would spare us from having to do it when the match has already started.
>>
>>2934404

That's what I thought at first too, but as someone said on the discord, bakugo's explosions deal AOE damage. Since we get more vulnerable when we grow small even if we avoid direct hits the shockwave might take us down.

Again, put everything into one killing shot at the beginning that bakugo won't predict, you can even put rd into it to make it a 8d10.
>>
>>2934271
I would say embiggen "forward" into a lunge and shrink touch if it connects. Big Ushi will be harder for Daisy to just blow away on the counterattack.
>>
>>2934418

We haven't been given an option to do it so far so probably no, but you'd have to ask PM to be sure.

>>2934434

Again, that would likely be two rolls meaning a smaller chance of success, although a 4d10 then 4d10 is better than the first plan. Austin tossin is one roll for both the growth and shrinkage and my idea is basically the same as that just without throwing him so it's probably a 5d10.
>>
>>2934457
He probably didn't think of it. And we never thought of it until now, either.
I think it's worth trying. At worst we get told that it's not allowed and go back to normal size.
Or we could ask midnight, the ref, before stepping into the ring.
>>
>>2934468
Pretty sure no prep until we're on the stage and the match has started. Seems like a basic rule in the name of fairness.
>>
>>2934473
I'm pretty sure that kind of rule was never actually specified, the tournament in general is pretty loose when it comes to rules.
Does it really hurt to ask?
>>
>>2934495
Have you seen anyone else doing some kind of quirk prep before their match? There's a reason for that. Even if there aren't many rules at all, there's still a semblance of fair play.
>>
>>2934457
I don't know, man. Austin Tossin' is already a pretty janky usage of EiBiT. Adding in a foreign body midway through sounds real sketchy.

Also you're making a lot of assumptions about how the dice would work out.
>>
>>2934518
I legitimately would call that as them probably not having thought of it.
Or, in some cases, a matter of pride. I can see Bakugou thinking of working up a sweat before a match to make it easier, but not actually doing so because of the way he wants to win.
I don't think there's anything wrong with going into a fight prepared, it actually shows a level of planning and thought. It's not the fairest thing to do, but that's honestly on the students who don't think to prepare as well. Everyone's there to win, it's your own fault if you don't come with a full deck.
>>
>>2934545

Austin tossin is already supposed to be used on foreign bodies so I don't see why it would make much of a difference. Even if it doesn't work out, the rolls would be 4d10 to grow the arm then 4d10 to grab and shrink, the same as the second best plan given here, so it's still pretty good.

I'm not just making assumptions, i'm working from what we know. PM said on discord somewhere we'd be at 2 hands at the beginning of the next fight. putting that into the Austin tossin formula is a 5d10. Growth then punching is the formula for growing then the formula for melee attacks with a -1 to each for doing two actions in a turn, coming up to a 4d10 then 3d10. Growing then shrinking is the formula to grow then the formula to grab and shrink with a -1 for doing both in the same turn, meaning a 4d10 then 4d10.
>>
>>2934594
The match starts when everyone is on the stage and Present Mic calls it, not five minutes before. At least Bakugo working up a sweat beforehand is something he can somewhat hide and pretend is normal. Not walking onto the stage already 16 meters tall.

Some things are just common sense even if they're not an explicit rule. You don't see a rule in baseball to not feed the opposing team laxatives before the game starts, but that's obviously something you don't do.
>>
>>2934601
I'm almost positive that sabotaging the enemy team is in fact a rule somewhere in Baseball. That's not really equivalent to what I'm talking about at all anyways.
>>
>>2934608
The rules are at Midnight's whims and you don't want to rules-lawyer the woman with the flogger. This would be equivalent to starting at a different position than your opponent.
>>
>>2934616
It's less being a rules-lawyer and more just asking once if it's allowed and not doing it if it isn't.
>>
>>2934608
Fair enough. My other point is that walking up to the stage already 16 meters tall is so stupidly blatant when everyone else started their match fresh and none of their quirks active.
>>
>>2934617
Then I guess between matches we should ask. But our Brains and Face are at 0.
>>
>>2934622
Yeah, but the difference (as stated originally) is that Ushi's quirk has a permanent effect. It wouldn't technically be in active use while walking onto the stage, just something done beforehand. Not like it's something she has to hold on to or anything.
>>
>>2934631
If you have to Rules Lawyer to make your strategy work, you're probably violating the spirit of things.
>>
>>2934426
Yeah, guess lunge while growing fast woyld be a better opening move.

>>
>>2935358

It'll probably be either him or Mt Lady, although I remember some people wanting to go with that ninja guy (similar power to us) or the woman momo went with in cannon (for face dice).
>>
Are there any dancing heroes? Or any really agile ones that would let us intern
>>
>>2935393
I'm sure Mic will come up with some heroes for us to choose from as well. Maybe one that fits all requirements.
>>
>>2935386
I think Mt Lady is still a great choice. She could help train us in Face stuff and teach us how to fight better in Biggest Ushi form. We don't really use Giant form to great effect.
>>
>>2935393

The ninja guy seems to be good at dodging and we might be able to improve our shrink dodging by watching his techniques.
>>
>>2935406
Because nobody votes to.
>>
>>2935393

Just go with gunhead. He sees ms to have a martial arts theme to his agency, I bet even money there will be at least a few guys there that practice fighting styles centered on evasion and redirection of the opponents force, even if gunhead himself seems to practice an art based more in striking.

In canon we saw ururaka come back knowing an throw and joint lock combo, most arts that teach throws incorporate evasion or redirection of the opponents force as a prelude to the throw itself. That would be hella useful for us I think.
>>
>>2935393
Ushi just need to stop skipping leg/feet day.
>>
>>2935572
Agreed, I think spending our skills on stuff more versatile than dodging is a more effective strategy. Feet dice can be used for more than just dodging.
>>
>>2935572
Since we hardly ever dodge, i think we need dice in more commonly used things. Like charm, or wrestling or block
>>
>>2935577
I think we can hit a gym or just ask the school to pay for a gym to us. I mean it's for helping us become a hero so it makes sense that the school would/should pay for it.

>>2936519
We barely dodge because our dice for it are very low so we don't feel we have a very high chance in succeeding on it.
>>
>>2936729
Yeah, but we do need to decide to train that instead of our Hands now. I wasn't ever really concerned on how we'd get that training.
>>
>>2936729
Theres no reason to believe wed use it if it had 1 more die. Its more because we tend to favour either straight foreward attacks ir convoluted attacks. Which doesnt leave much room for dodging.

Feeling short of breath, sick and unable to smell nor taste anything but your own blood, you are not surprised at the creeping darkness around your sight, as it's becoming a familiar sight.

Your body still does what you want it to do and you are only feeling sick and tired, after all and those can always be hidden and dealt with elsewhere.

So, instead of falling over in front of the cameras and crowd, you just raise your hand over your right breast and slam your fist against your chest, forcing a small coughing fit that you are able to cover with your hand, even managing to hide the brief instinctual panic when you pushed out what little air remained in your lungs.

Then you gasp for air, taking a deep breath and feeling almost okay as you wipe the spit and blood off your mouth before proudly facing the crowd, crossing your arms over your puffing out chest and keeping your head held high as Midnight approaches, with her arms crossed as well and covering her face with her flogger.

>"AND WALKER PULLS HERSELF TOGETHER AGAIN!!!" Present Mic comments as you look over the crowd, pretending to be tougher than… Actually, you are starting to believe that you are pretty much a brick house. "WHO NEEDS EVASION WITH A HIDE LIKE THAT ANYWAY!!! DOES SHE EVEN HAVE A WEAKNESS!!!?"

>"Everyone does, Mic." Mr. Aizawa replies. "But it'd be unfair for us to give such intel away."

Anyone else would only see Midnight's whip, but seeing her from right above lets you see a massive grin and a reddened face as she turns her head to look at you on her way to check on Pony, even looking over her shoulder briefly.

But the inner warmth of pride quickly fades away as she reaches for your friend.

>"Tsunotori! Can you still move?" The hero asks, standing by Pony's side as she squirms, trying to roll onto her side.

>"I-I..." She whimpers, with her reddening eyes clearly holding back tears.

You can only wince as you see her try to lay her scraped hands on the ring to prop herself up, but flinches back the moment her palm makes contact, leaving an array of small red dots on the concrete.

It can't be more than five seconds, but it seems to drag on as she continues to try and raise to her four legged stance, with her elbows bending whenever she tries to rest her weight on her arms, dropping prone once more.

It hurts to watch, but you can't interfere and there's nothing you can or want to say. Some words of encouragement would be nice, but you don't want to mess things up.

You can only imagine what she would feel of you went and insulted her again now…

Then she seems to manage it, standing firm for an instant before her right elbow fails her again, leaving her on her side.

>"...I can't." Pony softly concludes, letting her hair fall over her face and hugging her knees.

>"Tsunotori is unable to move!" Midnight declares, "Walker Ushi! Welcome to the Finals, you vigorous gal!"

I agree with this. In the case that we have to reply or strike up a conversation with her, our face is 0

We don’t even have the roll dice crutch to make it decent. We’d be rolling a flat 0 I’m pretty sure.
>>
>>2939112
I forgot to put a "injure her pride" here.

After all we didn't carry Momo when she got injured. Mostly because we didn't wanted to mess up and cause more damage.

Guys, I might have a plan for 'Splosion boy.

We need to get him to destroy the ring with his first shot and keep in it.

Then we have a destroyed ring to harvest mass from and a lot of cover for us to shrink and/or hide in.

If we survive hit one and he wrecks the ring? We have functionally infinte ammo against a raid boss In which case we need to get him blindingly angry and play some shadow of the collosus OR Ausitn tossin' the entire ring at him like Uraka in canon.

Only difference? Once our barrage of bricks doesn't work we can throw a massed up punch or break our shoulder deku style with a follow up Austin Tossin'.
>>
>>2939153
Why would we treat him like a raid boss, when WE can become the raid boss? Grow big and pin him down or something. And if he just starts flying around and juking, that's good too. That's gonna be energy-intensive after how much effort Kirishima forced Bakugo to put in to win.
>>2939044
>[Shrink back to your natural height and go look around the stadium to walk your soreness off.]
>[Write in.]
Get some food to recharge
>>
>>2939166

I think that might work, but I have shadowruns hardcore for Bakugo.

Because in this world, his attention has been split between Shoto, Deku and Us - I think he'll have some strategy for us after watching us get past Shoto and Momo.

The guy's freakishly capable, he's not an idiot; just obsessively driven for #1 and convinced he's the shonen protoganist.

I think baiting him into going all out and draining what stamina he has left will frustrate him to the point it knocks him off his gameplan; because I do not want to see Bakugo be in control of the engagement.

And despite normally advocating for it; I think going super big and strong is exactly what we don't want to do.

Shadowrun:

> Get huge
> Bakugo dukes up to our stomach and point blanks his best shot
> Timberrr
>>
>>2939179

I don't think getting Bakugo angry to throw him off his game plan will work, he's always angry. Once again, do this

Grab Bakugo by enlarging your arm similar to austin tossin (use the oposite arm to what you used on momo to minimise joint strain) but do not throw him. Instead, shrink him along with the arm. Add any/all RD that can be added to this roll.
>>
Growing as big as we can and going for an aggressive power play by either holding him down or swatting him away appeals to me more here. If we give him the chance, he could very easily go for hit and run tactics like he did against Kirishima, and at least he had a hardening quirk to tank it. We're tanking through pure grit, willpower, and the grace of the dice gods. Growing big gives us DR.
>>
>>2939179
>going all out and draining what stamina he has left will frustrate him to the point it knocks him off his gameplan
Would work on a different opponent, but Bakugo's explosion get harsher and harsher the more he sweats and shit. It's a much safer play to go all out and take him out sooner rather than later. In a battle of endurance, we can't tank him until he gets too tired, way too much damage.
>>
>>2939207

This is our health in the next match, word of PM

2/3/2/0/1
8HP, even with 2DR more he'll one shot us, we either take him down in turn one with my plan or a similar one, or we loose.
>>
>>2939220
Or just punch him. That would work
>>
>>2939220
Tackling him while embiggening to increase our speed seems like a valid tactic. Just shove him right off the stage while hitting him hard in the process. If we're lucky he'll be too stunned to recovery properly.
>>
>>2939193
Why don't we just go full size it will be the only way we can take the explosions and not be 1 hit K.O. But first we need to focus on dodging his first attack so then we can grow full size all our mass at once.
>>
>>2939240

As I said with the earlier discussion on this topic, that's a good plan, but it would likely require more dice rolls than my plan. One 5d10 roll is easier to pass than a 4d10 then another 4d10.
>>
>>2939248
My tackle/embiggen plan would be at the same time and would require multiple matches in the same roll. We just tend to not do that kind of thing.
>>
>>2939244

As I said in >>2939220 the 2DR we get from max size wont be enough to tank with only 8HP, he'll still one shot us. Your plan would just lead to that happening on turn 2 rather than turn 1 if we successfully dodge.

>>
>>2939255
The damage multiplier from max size will make ANY hit a One-Hit KO tho, Momo took 15 freaking damage, the whole thing would be a race to see if we can get our first hit in before he get's a big one that does 5 damge in one go

I'm thinking when the time for gear upgrades comes, we need to add some armor to our kit.
Not anything too heavy, but maybe an armored coat of some kind.
Does EiBiT work through gloves? Because some heavy gloves would probably be a good idea for protecting our hands.

Nope, 's why we went with fingerless ones.
Maybe palmless gloves similar to plate gauntlets (we can do away with the leather palm area) fit better with what you're thinking of.
>>
>>2939394
In costume if we are at Max size we have DR3
>>
>>2939421
Nah, solid leather fingerless gloves should be fine to stick with. Maybe reinforce the backs and knuckles like cesta if we wanted to get fancy with it.
>>2939422
But max size isn't always practical, and I imagine a bit of armor would scale up too, letting us have even more DR at max size.

A Hero should be invincible. That's an ideal view.
A Hero should be a stalwart defender, able to protect everyone and anyone from any disaster, whenever they may arise without fail. That's an ideal view.

And God knows you want to meet those high standards some day, to be a hero looked up to as a role model to follow.

But you can't, not right now. Doing so will take far more time and effort than a couple of weeks at U.A. and the ability to keep going after getting the tar beaten out of you.

But a hero should also be someone that makes people feel safe around them, a good person that not only keeps things going smoothly, but makes the world a nicer place. That's your ideal view.

And you can get your toes wet with that now.

The crowd may have liked Ushi the unflippable, who walked away after breaking out of the ice in her last match, looking like solid teflon, but you can't repeat that.

Your friend doesn't need to see you showboat.

If you were the one lying face down on the concrete ring and crying, that would be the last thing you'd want to see.

Instead, you place your hurt hands against your thigh once more and slowly shrink yourself back to normal, feeling the whispy white smoke crawl all over your body before being absorbed by your fingertips, leaving you standing a little shorter than Midnight.

Then you sigh and let yourself slump forwards a bit, feeling your battered body relax somewhat before extending a hand towards Pony, who just looks at your hand with her large, puffy and teary eyes.

To say she looks sad would be an understatement, as the look she gives you when she finishes tracing the path from your hand to your eyes is heart wrenching, as is the fact that she only raises her hand slightly before pulling it closer to her body, instead of taking your hand.

However, instead of letting her drag you down, you lock eyes with her and smile.

Not a smug or happy smile, but a tired and empathic one, reinforced by the thin trails of blood and spit that start trailing down your chin the moment your lips part.

You can't think clear enough to string a sentence together, but you can feel just fine and it felt more direct and honest than words usually do.

"We are both a mess." You say with a tired blink and the splash of a blood drop falling down your chin and against the concrete.

"Go away." She seems to reply, turning her head and looking away, keeping her hands to herself.

"C'mon, let's go." You insist, taking a step forwards and getting your hand closer to her. Not a fake and stiff step, but a stumbling and somewhat painful step

Meanwhile, Midnight looks at both of you curiously, but without saying anything or interfering.

But Pony keeps her back turned towards you, forcing you to limp to her field of view again.

Once more, you extend your hand towards her, but stumbling forwards a bit this time, as your multiple aches and expanding bruises keep brushing against your clothes.
>>
This seems to catch her eye, as Pony… Licks her eyes clean?... Huh… And then looks you up and down, evidently seeing the state you are in.

The bruising starting to marr the skin above and under your bra and the burning line you feel where she smashed your nose and almost broke it.
It may have been two hits, but you are fairly sure you wouldn't have been able to take a third, and she seems to notice it as well, as she raises her hand and draws her finger across her snout, going crosseyed as she does.

You can't avoid giggling at the sight, getting Pony to realize what she was doing and blush before joining in. With a relieved smile, you tilt your head towards the gate, closing and opening again the fingers of your outstretched hand.

This time though, she does take it, pulling herself up with your help, giving you a soft smile which you earnestly return, bumping shoulders and making your horns go CLACK as they bump too.

Then you do it again, this time on purpose, feeling similar to a fist bump mixed with a secret handshake and a hip check.

"Awh~" You suddenly hear Midnight say, clapping her hands and bringing them to her cheeks.

Sharing a somewhat confused shrug with Pony, you start hobbling together the all too familiar path to Recovery Girl's, leaning on and enjoying each other's silent company, without making any sound but those of your breathing and of your feet and hooves against the tiles.

It's comforting, in a way. You know you'll have to talk with her about your fuck ups later, but it doesn't feel like an impending dead end on the road to friendship anymore, just a bumpy mile.

But the calm is somewhat shaken when you reach Recovery Girl's, as the heroine waits for you with the door open and shaking her head.

>"Again, Walker?" She says with a sigh. "No, forgive me. You should always look for the proper medical aid deary."

Then she enters the infirmary and points towards the beds, now clean and made up.

>"You could stand to get hurt less though." Recovery Girl continues. "At this rate I don't think you could fight an extra match for the third place."

>"She can't." Pony says as you help her get on one of the beds.

You look at her and tilt your head, somewhat confused.

>"<You have to win now, Ushi.>" She affirms, nodding as she lets herself fall over the sheets, hugging them. "<'Murrica n' eagles n' moos n' stuff...>"

>"Now, let's tend to the last victim of the one one gal stampede..." Recovery Girl says, shuffling towards Pony.

We do not have the face stats to fix the pony situation right now, let's quit while we're ahead there and deal with it later. Hopefully we can regain some stats with this option.

I'm pretty sure we have 0 in face right now and I don't think there are any RD we can apply to a face roll in this situation. If it comes down to a roll, we could autofail. Better to recover stats now, if we get our stats restored and we're lucky in the bakugo fight we might keep our face die which would put us in a much better situation than this.
