The great depression of 1919 and a the devastating defeat against the Anglois in 1920 has led to the collapse of the island republic of Normaund. The 39 million people living in the fatherland are bereft of pride in the international stage, with a great precentage of them also without home or food for the coming months.

Various factions are about to rise up in the Republic, this war promises to be long, bloody, and shameless.

>The northern Socialists. The north has always been a bastion of socialism and communism, with the cities of Ellie, Nid-au-Port and Ventas leading the fight against the capitalist opressors. Poorly armed, divided, and with no real leader to speak of, the Socialists will give a good name to their struggle during the first few fortnights of the war.

>The southern Fascists. The vast farmlands of the south have housed many conservative families with traditional values. The rapid industrialization of the south and the patriotic and revanchist feelings of the peoples living there has led to the rise of a new form of socialism, with a deep infatuation with their homeland and leader. Cities like Nour, Trilod and Korven have chosen to side with this rising ideology. Armed and ready and united under one leader, this faction will struggle to keep up with a prolonged war, as the south does not have as many riches as the north.

The southern fascists gathered and united under the flag of the black cross in a grey field during the initial revolt against the fools of the Republic. Wishing for a new Normaundic State that would embrace and uphold its grand traditions.

Various factions gathered after the initial victory against the garrisons of the cities of Nour and Trilod. Many soldiers surrendered instantly, if they could be called soldiers, with barely any weapons or ammunition to speak of. Most of them simply returned to their homes as what remained of High Command in the two cities left.

The factions are as follows:
>Heindric's National Socialists. A radical faction with ideals of racial hierarchy and a greater good that must be achieved by complete subservience to the state.
>Anater's Fascists. Fascism in its purest form, Anater's men seek autarky, national rejuvenation through war and imperialism, and the stable and orderly society that will come from it. They allow a more open market and a more individualistic outlook on life, so long as they do not go against the affairs of the state, which seeks to ensure national pride.

Rodrig Anater took over the command of the newly announced Patriotic Front. He and his cabinet of loyal thinkers have joined up in the House of Administrators of the great Nour, birthplace of the revolution.

Thousands have gathered to cheer on Anater and his greyshirts. After Anater enjoyed his personal triumph, he entered the House and gathered his 7 councillors, who presented him with data about the Patriotic Front and the current issues plaguing it.

Various wealthy land owners and factory managers join up with Rodrig Anater in Nour after his calling for funding. They tell you that they're willing to invest in your project for a new, united nation as long as you give their third or fourth sons a place in the officer corps of the Patriotic Front. It's obvious that most of these men are untrained in warfare, and would do a paltry job in logistics, at most, yet it's more officers that have to be paid at the end of the day.

>Agree. We'll sideline the fools when given the chance. [Army efficiency is reduced, treasury increases to 60]

Fine fine, we'll do best of two.

Some of these rich gentlemen are disgruntled at the thought of their sons not joining the officer corps and stayed quiet during negotiations, refusing further offers. The rest, whose sons were either officers of the Republic or had military training at some point in their lives, welcomed the new proposal as they gladly saw that some of their rivals were put out of the equation.

All in all, Rodrig and his councillors were happy with the negotiations. After a few more formal rounds of tea, coffee, and bants in the meeting room of the House of Administrators, the meeting was dismissed. The wealthy men all echoed "Hail Normaundia." as they left the room, some with more love than others.

The funds arrived quickly after the end of the negotiations. The Patriotic Front's government sees this treasury as more than enough to last them for a few war projects.

=== Other News ===
The Republican government has petitioned for support in arms and supplies from the rest of the world. It was met with outright refusal as countries reminded them of their failed war of agression against the Anglois, though some countries seemed more keen on rethinking their position in the near future.

The Socialist faction has been taken over by the communists, who have initiated a round up of their own in order to make them pledge loyalty to the communist ideologues. This has been met with nigh-rebellious reactions from the rest of the factions, who refuse to bow against authoritarianism.

Rodrig Anater gathers the councillors once more in Nour. Though the Patriotic Front is young, it still needs a solid political base from which it can make a true claim to all of Normaundia. Anater and his fellows discuss various options during the meeting.

Anater's role:
>Rodrig Anater will become the Dictator of Normaundia, his will is final and the true projection of the will of the Normaunder peoples. Around him will stand councillors from each city in the state, who will serve as advisors and regional voices.
>Rodrig Anater will become the Dictator of Normaundia, but he will be subject to the will of the people through ministries representing every side of society.

The shape of the government:
>A single, unitary central government will declare strict policies that will have to be carried out by local elected administrations.
>A single, unitary central government will declare broad policies that will be carried out in a heavier or lighter fashion by appointed regional administrators.

The political parties:
>One single political party and faction which all true Normaunders must join.
>One single political party split into fascist factions which all Normaunders must join, selecting the faction closest to their view of the new Normaundia.
>>
>>2917788
>Rodrig Anater will become the dictator of Normandie, his will is final (Top choice)
>A single United Central government Will delcare broad polticies (Bottom choice)
>One single Political party and faction (Top choice)

I'm going with keeping our power strong with us. Because the people whims can change easy. Broad politcies due to each region is different what works at one places doesn't work best in the other. And last splitting the party in factions, you're just asking for a coup or splinting to form.

Where going to act first. Because us in the South has less resources than the North.

We need to build up quickly, now that we got the money and leadership is order and start taking cities and towns. Before the Commies in the North wise up and get done killing each other.
>>
>>2917812
The question is;
Do we simply amass an army and charge, or commit precious time to fleshing out a competent officer-corps? I myself, feel that an officer-corps can help us absolutely trounce the dis-organised commies wherever we find them. With this advantage, our army can seize the maximum amounts of land needed to even the odds, making the time lost building an officer-corps a net gain.
>>
>>2917791
Anater and his councillors rose up at the end of the meeting, and throughout the streets the new government was announced. Rodrig Anater would become Dictator and leader of all Normaundia, his will becoming absolute as he is the representation of Normaunder pride, in order to represent his will, he will appoint regional administrators who would advise him in matters of the state. The first administrator was appointed for the city of Trilod, a trusted friend of his, Kruger Todt, who followed Anater's gospel ever since he began preaching it in 1914.

During this, various officials, accompanied by the greyshirt militias, went home by home declaring that all able men would have to join the political party of the state, the new Normaundic Front, led by Rodrig Anater. Incidents ocurred, but they were few and unorganized. In the end, all able men did end up joining, pledging their lives to New Normaundia.

=== Other News ===
The Republican government has made advances to gather and reorganize its armies, purging away elements who lacked loyalty and keeping those with strict republican ideals. The disloyal elements have either fled their positions or remained and faced trial.

The struggle in the Communist faction continues, though rifles haven't yet been picked up, the negotiations have reached a stalemate. The socialists insist that their voice be heard in the new Politburo created by the communists, while the communists insist that the people elected them into power, not the rest of the squabbling factions.

The Dictator gathered the leaders of the greyshirts under the House of Administrators. They mention that the only true fighting force that exists right now are the ten thousand greyshirts that initially took over Nours and Trilod, who've formed a division. The man with the highest knowledge of modern militaries mention that they're little more than militias with the level of training of a recruit. Much brass, not so much brain, and wars are won through brain.

The man explains that, though measuring such things isn't simple, divisions can be classified depending on their training and equipment:

=== Big Info Dump, go down if you want the prompts ===
Training:
>Recruit (Cost 1, ETA 1 Turn (15 days))
>Average (Cost 2, ETA 2 Turns (30 days))
>Trained (Cost 3, ETA 4 Turns (60 days))
>Veteran (Can not be bought outside special events, divisions who see battle will eventually reach this rank, value of 4)

Equipment:
>Militia (Cost 1)
>Regular (Cost 2 )
>Elite (Cost 3, only accessible with specialized factories)

As such, a "normal" division is an Average Regular, for which you pay the cost of training and equipment (2 each, so in total 4), and it will arrive in 30 days.

Their combat value is Training x Equipment, which for them is 2x2=4.

An army is always limited to a maximum of 5% of the population, going higher would cripple the economy.

A bit of a reminder. Overwhelming numbers can sometimes win fights, if the enemy has more than twice the amount of men than you, this can lead to a bonus for their dice throw.

=== Army Stats ===
Army Divisions: 1 Recruit Militia
Army Strength Value: 1
Maximum Army Divisions: 15 (150.000 soldiers, 5% of our population)
We do not have access to Elite equipment.

=== Decisions ===
>Strength is in the numbers. Hire 14 Recruit Militias for 28 Treasury. Total Army Strength Value would be 15, ETA 15 days, 1 turn.

>We need an elite for the first step to victory. Hire 6 Trained Regulars for 30 Treasury. Total Army Strength Value would be 37, ETA 45 days, 3 turns.

We'll need a diverse army. Militia divisions to garrison pacified cities and hold down less important fronts, a core of regular troops that will be the backbone of our military, and in the future even some elite divisions for special operations and breakthroughs

For now we should go with 4 recruit militias and 5 trained regulars (total cost is 33)

After the meeting, military command hailed and gave their thanks to the Dictator and his Council for the grand investment they made on the military. They departed, eager to begin training the new divisions. For the following 15 days, Rodrig and his council had to deal with various issues springing up from the mass recruitment, from paperwork, to documentation, to answering pleas from the people, but the recruitment went on nonetheless, and the new standing army would soon be ready.

Barely a day after finishing the paper work related to the wave of recruitment, a councillor meekly suggested that it was time to give these soldiers a proper chain of command, a chain of command which can just barely sustain the militia of the greyshirts.

Rodrig Alaster and the rest of the councillors let out a sigh, more paperwork is the last thing they want, but it must be done for the sake of an orderly state, and a powerful military. Millions depend on the good management of our home.

=== Explanation of Officers ===
Officers can make or break an army. To simplify, it is a value between 0 and 2 called Command Efficiency (CE) that rates the ability of officers to lead their troops into battle, which is MULTIPLIED during the equation for a battle.

As an army expands, so does the need for officers. For each new division recruited, you must invest 1 Treasury into the new officers to have an average officer corps at the end (CE of exactly 1).

Good officers aren't that easy to come by, and true talent comes during rare opportunities, which means that reaching a CE of 2 is hard, if not impossible.

For example, since you recruited 7 divisions, you need to invest 7 Treasury to meet the demand of new officers. If you spend less, your CE will suffer, as will your battle results.

=== Decisions ===

>Gather the republican military commanders who have sided with us, pay them 7 Treasury and make them lead our army. They are skilled enough for the army we've prepared.
>Seek out new talent from within the rank and file. It might be a waste of time, or we could find a golden opportunity.
>Invite foreign military experts and doubtful but skilled Republican generals, they will be talented, but will probably demand a steep price for their service.

The Dictator invited the military commanders living in and out of Nour and Trilod to a nice evening at the House of Administrators' common room. After a few hours of light drinking and a good dinner, the commanders were eager to partake in the negotiations to lead the fledgling army of the Patriotic Front. Such nights, negotiations, and parleys went on for two weeks as various commanders were enlisted to lead the Front to glory. Their pay is considerable, but their advice and actions will be priceless when battle comes.

By the end of these negotiations, the new divisions were ready, as were the new officers that were to command them. Truly, this force of at least 70.000 men are destined to bring glory to our people.

>>Saving our brethren in Korven

It is time for the first offensive of the Patriotic Front. During the next 15 days, we will engage in Operation Glory, where thousands of men will put their lives on the line for Lady Normaundia.

Rodrig Alaster gives rousing speeches from the balcony of the House of Administrators. The listening soldiers, spread around in strict and uniform grey blocks, give rousing cheers when Rodrig ends his speech. It was prime time for the Front to liberate their opressed brothers in Korven.

Rodrig gathers his new commanders around in the house, their ornate grey uniforms show no sign of the gleaming gold and blue that the Republicans wear. An austere look, for glory is found within the spirit and actions.

The commanders present what they know of Korven's situation.

-The way to Korven is littered with various forests inland, but has a few plains between forest and the beach.

-Korven is technically in a small peninsula, which means that the enemy presence will have a slight tactical advantage while defending it.

-The commanders predict that we will have overwhelming numerical superiority, as the Republic hasn't yet prepared their army for retaliation against a force like ours.

-Various villages litter the way to Korven, and they could give a word of warning if not garrisoned properly by a division, this would mean losing our element of surprise.

-We know that Korven supports us, and that Fascist militias will rise up to attack the garrison.

Commanders' suggestions:
>Brute force it, using our newly trained 7 Average Regulars. We will head to Korven through the plains, take the villages and leave a division for garrison, then fight for Korven.
>Sneak our way by sea, using 4 of our newly trained Average Regulars. We will requisition fishing boats and commercial boats and take over the port. The enemy would never expect this, and they wouldn't be able to use their land fortifications.
>Sneak by the forest, using our 7 Average Regulars, we won't have to garrison the villages, but it might lead to a slow down of the attack.

But it s a great risk. We need to arrive in a day where there is something like the fish market, so the republicans are relaxed and our boats will not be a suspect.

The plan to sneak by sea seems insane, but it could very well work if done correctly, the distance from the harbor of Nour to Korven isn't that big, and no one would expect it. It is time to put it into motion.

Ships are requisitioned, from small fishing ships to large commercial ones, the army takes it all over. Though the requisition is temporary, many sailors are angry that their way to earn their bread will be risked in an operation like this, some others feel pride that they will help with the first operation of the Patriotic Front. After a few days, the ships are ready, and the 40.000 men begin amassing onto them.

Now that the commanders think about it, having a little over a thousand ships, big and small, sailing to Korven might be suspicious, they will need to act fast. One lieutenant suggests sailing on Market Day, to take them completely by surprise, High Command takes on that suggestion gladly.

As the ships sail off on Market Day, thousands gather to see them off, families send off their children, husbands, and fathers. On the forefront of this send-off is Rodrig Alaster, who shakes the hand of each and every colonel and major general who will participate on the operation, and so they are sent off.

The ships head off towards the port of Korven, some messengers, disguised as Republicans, went through the road to warn the fascist militias there.

The town of Korven is enjoying a nice day of Market, the civil war seems so far away to them, the fascists of Nour have been quiet for two months after the defeat of their brethren in the city, while the communists were soundly defeated. To many citizens, it seemed like just another revolt to be put down.

But to others, who were scurrying around the city, spreading word and arms. The time of liberation had arrived. They would fight along with their brothers of Nour and Trilod. The military police stationed in Korven took heed of such actions, and tried their best to stop the fascists. It was useless, the militia already began its revolt against the army, gunfire began. The soldiers of the Republic tried to stop them while at the same time manning the defences of the peninsula, expecting a land attack.

What was their surprise when they saw thousands of ship, big and small, arriving through the port. With no time to react, sometimes taking measures as desperate as sending off smaller ships to crash into these, they prepared a hasty defence in the port. It was useless, tens of thousands of soldiers clad in grey stormed out of their ships, seeking cover, a base of operations, and returning fire towards the Republicans.

The sounds of gunfire, screams and bolt actions echoed through the city.

"Hail Alaster! Hail Normaundia!"

The commanders have more or less established the situation at Korven:

Republicans have 40.000 Average Militiamen
We have 10.000 Recruit Militiamen, and 40.000 Average Regulars.

Shock and Awe. Could this advantage translate to a lot of the Republicans simply surrendering, so that we can re-absorb them into our own military after consolidation our position in this port town? It would be nice not for it to result in the 40k trained manpower simply getting slaughtered.

Maybe the Republican commander realising that resistance is futile and raising the flag early on?

The battle is an absolute massacre. After barely a few hours of fighting, most key points such as the House of Administrators of Korven, the Starfort of Southbay, and the center of the city fell to the onslaught of the Fascist forces. HQ could barely move fast enough to accommodate with the ever-moving front. By the end of the day, they were in the House of Administrators. Casualties were still being counted, but they reached over a thousand in the enemy's side and a little over a hundred on our side.

Major General Oldriq Talreddi, leader of Operation Glory and, technically, supreme commander of the ground forces of the Patriotic Front, stood behind a large ornate table along with the three other major generals. There, they argued as to how they should finish off the battle.

Our victory is absolute, the enemy resists, but barely, the day is ours.
>Demoralise our enemy, win a major victory against them and kill as many as possible. This will send a message to those who resist the Patriotic Front.
>Negotiate with the enemy, if they surrender and join the Patriotic Front as citizens, they will be spared.
>Avoid further losses on our side, simply chase them away from their positions using cautious tactics.

"We demand their surrender." Oldriq orders. "Hail Alaster, Hail Normaundia, Hail Victory." The four men salute, and each go their own way to relay their orders to the rest of the officers.

As night settles in, the enemy holed up in various factories, storehouses, large homes, and other institutional buildings end up leaving their homes, trickling out. Some scuffles between the Republicans themselves start, but eventually most of them have left their COs, given up their arms, and returned to their homes, unwilling to die fighting for a Republic who didn't care enough about them. The memories of the defeat against the Anglois a year ago are still very fresh, while many knew that their families would not live through these years without them. The pockets who resisted further fired back, and were eventually slaughtered.

During another reunion, high command discusses the result of the battle.

The final death toll of the battle was 500 for the Fascists, and around 2.500 for the Republicans, with the rest of the Republicans surrendering and heading back to their daily lives in Korven. It is thought that around 1.000 citizens died in the midst of the battle due to stray bullets and from stampedes by crowds who had gathered to see the thousand ships arriving to the port.

The officers either died from the mutinies or surrendered along with their soldiers. Some remained with the last stragglers and fought til the end.

All in all, it was a resounding victory for the Patriotic Front. Still, a few days remained on the operation, and supplies were aplenty.

Since we're supposed to be the super conservative types, why not harken back to the days of old with titles like "Grand Duke"?
>>

That’s aristocratic anon...
>>
>>2920745
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duce
There's precedent for it
>>
>>2920747
I like it anon, but I don’t think it fits. Duke of fascism made sense for Italy, because the government ruled in the name of, and under the consent of, the king. Italy was somewhat a Kingdom at the time, so the use of aristocract titles fit.

However, we are revolting against a Republic, not a kingdom. So ultimately, I find that aristocratic titles don’t fit.
We should pick something more populist
>>
>>2920747
For example, Vichy France used the title “Chief of the French State”. I personally don’t like this one that much. Maybe we should just stick with Dictator. France (in the real world) had ties to Roman history, so I think in a stylistic sense using Dictator fits
>>
>>2920758
One of the benefits of an aristocratic title is the ability to draw upon the wellspring of nostalgic rose-tinted glass everyone has toward the past. I think the establishment of some kind of an aristocracy would be a great idea to tie in our financial backers even more into our regime, and perhaps even bring in the rich buggers who turned away from us for having military standards for officers back into the fold.
>>
>>2920768
That’s not a bad idea. So aiming for an Italy sort of aristocracy with a fascist governing body would be cool
>>
Maybe "Le Commandant"? Then again, it sounds too militaristic.
>>
>>2920803
>>2920785
Should we go for a more personal public persona (heh) like making our face become synonymous with the word "Leader", or make it less of a cult of personality (associate power more strongly with a certain position maybe) so as to allow a relatively smoother transition of power later on?

Regarding names - if we want to double down on the Ancien Regime identity, the Dauphin could be a potential title. Or become Grand Prince and declare the formation of the Principality of [name]?
>>
>>2920803
Consul? Like Le Consulat. I think Napoleon had the title of Consul before Emperor

After the victory, the men didn't have much time to cheer, it was on to march take over territory between Nour and Korven. The villages there didn't seem to mind much the presence of these soldiers, and were more worried about what would happen to their lands, or to whom they had to pay their taxes. Some expressed a favorable political sentiment, most didn't seem to care much about the ongoing situation.

Some farmers and laborers did express surprise when they saw the soldiers coming from the west instead of the east, which is what they had been expecting the past few months. Local administrations were easily convinced to switch sides, as the Republic had given them no army to speak of.

A few days of marching between Korven and Nour and the operation was over. A great success. In the last day, a military parade hailing the victory of the army against the Republicans was held. The resounding success of the operation made the parade even more successful than expected. The returning soldiers were greeted by women, flowers, gifts, and, of course, by Dictator Rodrig Alaster.

Some, though, were never to return, a few mourned the 500 lost to the battle of Korven.

Rodrig Alaster announced during the post-triumph speech that he would be known under a new title. That of the First Consul of Normaundia. His fellows announced other titles, such as Commandant, or Maréchal. In the streets, most took to calling him "The Commandant." More knowledgeable fellows seemed keen to compare this to past events, though they did so with caution and care.

Nevertheless, Korven belongs to the Patriotic Front, a grave blow to the Republic.

As the battle in the south raged on, the Republican government tried, once again, to reaccomodate its officer corps to something more proper. By now, it seems most men of their army finally have a proper officer corps and are ready to fight at full strength.

The Communist faction have decided to begin recruitment of a proper army, propaganda and leaflets flow around the cities of Ellie and Ventas.

A new faction has appeared. A whole 10.000 socialists left the Communists and took up arms two months ago, never to be seen again. Actually, they were seen, and it was a huge surprise to the Republicans. The Socialists, under the leadership of an Anarchist called León D'Orvier, fought in and took over an isolated city with socialist inclinations, Forche, in the east. From there, they have established a new faction.

Also, as an overall strategy I would like to propose that we focus on consolidation and building up our army for the new few rounds, until the Republican army commits to a given front.
Because there are multiple factions, the Republicans might focus on crushing the weakest ones first. If however we rapidly expand they might commit all their forces against us, since we would pose the biggest threat. Thus we should wait for the Republicans to make the next move before we consider more expansion.

Maybe, but if we wait all this time then also seeking foreign allies could be an idea.

Just remember that we are really near that big city in the south-center of the island, that s probably the capital.

Also we should conquer a bit more, before recruiting more troops.

Another thing where we should go now ? The east seems more rural and in the west there are a lot of citys .
>>

Yeah seeking foreign aid for equipment like tanks would be really great!

I think we should expand eastward. If we go to the west then we get a little too close for comfort, and the Republicans might get desperate and throw everything they got at us. We should go east, build up more power, then march on the capital!

Hey bubs, I was on the process of writing an update and silly me forgot to put it in a notepad. It was a lot of fluff so I'll just put down basic info and prompts.

Pacifying a city is paramount to earning its income. A city's entire administration has to be rebuilt from the ground up, finding loyal elements to lead them, or taking census of the people remaining there, also convincing these people that to be part of your faction is the best option for them.

The Front has two ways of pacifying Korven, knowing that the city is generally on their side:

>Civilian Administration. Korven will instantly become a Region of the Patriotic Front. Their income will take 30 days to start trickling in, but the population will feel like they are trusted and will be generally happier with your rule.
>Military Occupation. A division will be assigned to 'govern' Korven. Income will arrive instantly, but the populace will have a happiness hit for a while, as they feel either untrusted or opressed by their conquerors.
>Old Government. The old government will simply swear allegiance to the Front, income will start coming in instantly, but the old administration may harbor sympathies towards our foes.

A civilian administration is issued upon Korven, the city had always wished to be part of the Patriotic Front, and for that it is duly rewared with the trust of Consul Alaster.

During 15 days, loyalists are found, new administrators are put in charge, and Korven officially became the capital of its own Region. The rest of the ordeal would have to be taken care of by these new administrators, as the high brass of Nour would be busy with state affairs. It is time to continue our path to progress.

The commanders of the army express their great worry at the impending arrival of the army of Republicans in the north. The Consul and his trusted men agree vehemently, this might put the entire Patriotic Front in jeopardy, a mass recruitment must begin.

Reports inform them that the army is slowly gathering in a camp close to the city of Renais, in the north. The army currently gathered there reaches 40.000, while another 40.000 are expected in 15 days, and the last 40.000 in 30 days.

We must expand our army to meet this threat head on, or we could engage in a risky operation to take over the camp now and fortify it. Some generals spit at the idea, saying that taking such a risk could bring the entire Front down, the enemy can react to the operation and surround our troops.

Amidst the debate, the Consul is informed that men with strange apparel, claiming to control their own army, have arrived in the front door. The generals say that such madmen shouldn't be listened to. But Rodrig Alaster thinks.

Men with strange apparel, after inquiring a little more, Rodrig realizes that they are from the eastern peninsula where the old ways still linger. A druidic religion and certain cultural values, twisted with modernity, still linger there after all these years. But still, could such men be trusted?

>Private meeting

To the council's dismay, Alaster accepts a meeting with the men, though he would only give it an hour before resuming with his own tasks.

Alaster heads to the common room of the House of Administrators and there meets three men bearing suits, but over them are pelts of various animals. Two wolves, and a bear for what Alaster supposed is their leader. They are obviously from the lands of Hzier, the eastern peninsula.

== Fluff dump, go down for the proposal ==
After sitting down and enjoying some coffee with them, the strangers identify themselves. Their leader is Marto Trolc, leader of a fledgling ideology in the east that's gathered many destitute veterans of the war. Their ideas are clear, bringing rejuvenation to the people, much like fascism, but through the use of ancient customs and old religions, seeking a much more individualistic society hellbent on protecting their own lands and themselves, with the people forming bonds with each other due to their ancestral past and through this new ideology. They called it 'Folkism'.

Intrigued, they speak with Alaster for a good while about this strange set of ideals. In many ways it is similar to fascism, as they said, though the twist brought in by the "folkish" values gives it a peculiar shade. Alaster is happy to call it "Fascism of the ancients." which apparently pleases these Folkists.

They then proceed with their offer. An alliance. They've feared taking up arms against the state due to the relative poverty of their home, and the fact that eventually the Republic would crush them under their heels. Even if they somehow won, the rest of the country would not accept Folkism, only their peninsula. So their rump state would struggle staying independent in the world stage.

Thankfully, the Patriotic Front has given them a golden opportunity. Korven was a show of force for the Front which demonstrated that the Folkists could trust Alaster's faction.

== Proposal ==

Their proposal is thus:

They will use 3 divisions of Veteran Militia (from the war with the Anglois) to engage the two divisions that were stationed in the two cities of their peninsula, so 20.000 men. After that, they will rise up as their own state, Folkist Hzier, and will collaborate with the Patriotic Front during the war. The Republicans will find themselves with another front, and their plan for southern conquest will either be thwarted or delayed.

>Accept, give them 3 Treasury to bring their militia's armament to Regular.
>Simply accept, we need all the treasury for ourselves.
>Refuse, these madmen will do no good for us. They will betray us.
>>

>Accept, give them 3 Treasury to bring their militia's armament to Regular.

I wouldn't be opposed to combining folkism and modern fascism into a new ideology. It'd make for an interesting nation.
>>
>>2921679
>Accept, give them 3 Treasury to bring their militia's armament to Regular.

make sure we see their forces first, we could have them launch a night raid on the advancing forces then deploy our full force to their rear when they turn to meet the folkists.

If we deploy any fast cavalry or mobilized troops as a cut off we could annihilate 40 000 men and that would force the republic to withdraw for a time.
>>
>>2921688
After the threat has been pushed back we should try to incorporate them into our own ideology, use them as shock troops.
>>
>>2921679
>Accept, give them 3 Treasury to bring their militia's armament to Regular.
I’m not so concerned about betrayal as I am about the difficulties of reintegrating them into the nation after we have defeated the republic.

But it seems our position is too unstable to not want an extra front
>>
We have
2 Militia recruit
7 Regular average

We should arm our two recruits up to Regular equipment. Either costing 2 cash for going up a level or just 4 cash for getting all equipment new. Depending what QM chooses.

I'm going to play it safe and say that the Republic has 4 Regular average division. They don't expect a attack, so we could hit them hit with our 9 divisions kill them all in the 15 days. And get rid of the next stack and the next.
But there also a chance of combat fatigue if that's a thing

I think if we can ambush and wipe out the initial one or two armies then the republic will pull their forces back. from there we should push out take the surrounding country side and secure our area.

We need to move fast no matter what we do if we fight on our own territory it will cost us.
>>
>>2921707
>But there also a chance of combat fatigue if that's a thing
It is a thing, a negative modifier to the luck part of the roll.
>>
>>2921719
If we can wipe out at least one of their camps, then we will have a similiar amount of units on the front, and we can fight a delaying action while we train up more troops
>>
>>2921731
I think we can shatter at least two of their armies before our own becomes weakened and the third army would probably fall back rather than also be crushed.
>>
>>2921746
Right, if we crush two they would fall back, but I think if we defeat even one, we should be okay. Espically with the Folkist attacking soon

>Accept and 3 Treasury

Alaster shakes the hand of Marto. The men of Hzier express their deepest gratitude and promise a swift victory in the coming days against the Republicans. This is a great boon for the war effort. Veterans from the war against the Anglois, and two enemy divisions will most likely be trapped in the Hzier peninsula as they fight the Folkists. The ordeal involving this supposed autonomy for Hzier can be dealt with later. For now, Alaster must return to the council with the news.

When he does, the Consul shows pride in the deal. But now, the pressing matter of what to do next looms over him and his government and army. We have 35 treasury.

>We need men, fast. Hire Recruit Regulars in droves to withstand the enemy. We'll form at least 10 divisions in the following days with 30 Treasury, ETA 15 days.
>We have some time to spare with what we've got now, but we can't rest easy. We'll train 8 Average Regulars with 32 Treasury, ETA 30 days.
>The Hzier surprise gives us time to go on the defensive and prepare trained troops. We'll train 6 Trained Regulars with 30 Treasury, ETA 60 days.

I'd like to mention that battles don't always end in complete annihilation of the enemy. Sometimes there might be stalemates, other times victories might not be so obvious, few enemies will die and some will leave. And always, always, your army will also suffer losses. Be careful not to be too rash.
>>
>>2921762
>>We have some time to spare with what we've got now, but we can't rest easy. We'll train 6 Average Regulars, ETA 30 days.

to be honest i think we can get by with 6 average regulars, i would rather have the quality and save some treasury for later

Thanks for the heads up OP.
Can we also get better equipment for our militia?
>>
>>2921763
Hence why i wanted to deploy cut offs and use the allied militia as a decoy, they are our ace. We can probably crush one army then defeat the other forcing a withdraw for them to consolidate.

Yeah, you can, I'll add it as a prompt later.

6 Average Regulars will be trained in the following 30 days.

We have 38 - 3 (Gift for Folkists) - 24 (Recruitment Cost) = 11 Treasury remaining.

Shall we upgrade our Recruit Militias (The Greyshirts of Nour and Korven) to
>Recruit Regulars (2 Treasury total) .
>Average Regulars (4 Treasury total, 15 days).

>Spent 4 on turning the soldiers into average regulars. It will take 15 days for them to be battle ready.

The next 15 days are hurriedly spent gathering men for war. Volunteers arrive from Nour, Trilod, and Korven to join up with the grand recruitment call. The Greyshirts are turned into proper soldiers during this time as well. The state's coffers run dry as armament is produced, bought, and men are trained and armed.

The outskirts of Nour turn into gigantic training fields, where around 80.000 men eat, sleep and train. Seeking glory in war, and to protect their loved ones and Normaundia.

From the east, the men of Hzier tell us of a resounding victory. Their 30.000 veterans, then armed with what the Front provided them, nearly wiped out the enemy divisions. Over 12.500 of theirs died while only around 1.200 Hzier veterans lost their lives. The faction of Folkist Hzier was born, and their men were ready to fight along with yours if need be.

Your combined forces were hulking. 150.000 of your Average Regulars after the 30 day training, combined with 30.000 Veteran Regulars from Hzier. It was a good day to be fascist. The enemy, meanwhile, was down from the 140.000 who were supposed to gather to 120.000.

By the end of the two weeks, the recruit militias that were the Greyshirts were turned into proper soldiers. You army numbers 90.000 Average Regulars, with 60.000 more coming by the end of the month.

Duration of the Civil War: 105 days
Casualties of the Civil War: 76.600

=== Other News ===
The Republican government continued their troop movements. Meanwhile, they called for veterans of the war to gather and protect the Republic. It's said that around 50.000 answered throughout the land, and gathered in the capital to recieve arms funded graciously by the Republic.

The Communist faction have done a preemptive strike on the amassing army of the Republic in the north. 70.000 communist soldiers fought around 50.000 republican soldiers, though the battle was supposed to be an easy victory, the communists struggled through rain and mud and were soundly defeated by the Republicans. Over 30.000 communists were killed, the rest retreated. Meanwhile the Republic lost 10.000.

The socialists have begun amassing their own army. Estimates say they number around the 40.000. Strifles between various socialist factions have led to lack of organization between officers.

The more victories we have under our belt; the more credible we become to possible foreign allies. Let us crush their force in the south and seek out allies next turn.

We need to win another decisive victory, force the Republicans into retreat, and then make some serious territorial gains. Eventually, the lefties will get their act together, and begin exploiting the superior resources of the North.

Attack the republic and then push into the interior and south.
>>
>>2921899
We have 90k ready to go.
If we get help from the 30k vets to the East

We're going to have 120k army vs the 60k Republic army. With 1/4 of our forces being vets
>>
>>2922089
Going for this. We have the momentum and could gain the initiative with successful attack. The problem though is that our numbers still aren't such that an attack is guaranteed to work. This could be a big risk without an ace in our sleeve, even if the enemy is on the back foot from their previous position

I'd like to see if we can make a Nation Guard out of the militias instead, they'd be well organized and disciplined troops but not as skilled or well trained in combat, but with the equipment of a regular force for the purpose of defense and holding areas, etc.

It could be like a lower tier unit special for our faction with the benefits of slightly lower cost and training time ie, 20 days and 1.5 cost.

Maybe with the added ability to convert to a regular unit at a later day (but maybe end up costing more time overall after adding up all the days. Maybe 35 days total?)
>>
>>2921899
>>React to the gathering force.
Strike and destroy the enemy piecemeal. We currently outnumber them 2:1 with the help of our eastern allies and we're 100% regulars compared to the Republican admixture of regular and militia. Not to mention we'll have another 60,000 trained in a month.

I suggest we also extend the training time of half our new recruits by the additional 15 days for them to reach Veteran status. It would be a significant boost to our overall combat effectiveness.
