/qst/ - Quests

Previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2876951/

You are Takuya Yamashiro. A couple weeks ago, you were just a normal college student. However, after a bombing at a science expo wounded you and killed your father, you received a blood transfusion from a man named Peter Parker- aka Spider-Man. As a result, you gained his powers and took up the mantle of Kamen Spider as you set out to defend Tokyo and discover who killed your father.

---
Your Spider Sense tingles as a man with a knife tries to sneak up on you. You turn and fire a shot of Impact Webbing at him, gluing him to a wall. You had been patrolling when you saw a mugging in process. The victim is long gone, but you have 4 goons wrapped up for the cops.

[Diverting call from cell phone] says Yukiko, your suit's built-in AI. [Caller ID: Hitomi]

"Take the call." you say as you crawl up a wall. "Hey, Hitomi. What's going on?"

"You never told me if you were going to be available for dinner tonight." says Hitomi. She sounds a little sad.

As you curse yourself for forgetting all about your arrangements, a text alert crawls across your HUD: [Police Dispatch: KABUKICHO. Reports Of: UNIDENTIFIED ASSAILANT]

>Go out with Hitomi, let the police deal with whatever is happening
>Investigate the police report, cancel on Hitomi.

You think about it. After a moment's hesitation, you decide to let the cops deal with the problem and keep your personal life intact. "I'm not too busy..." you say as you run from rooftop to rooftop. "Just give me a little while to finish an errand and I'll be headed your way."

"I'll be waiting~" Hitomi says in a flirty singsong tone before ending the call.

You web-swing your way home and hastily change into nicer clothes- a leather jacket, black jeans, etc.

You catch a ride to her apartment, where she's wearing a very stylish outfit of a black cardigan, sunglasses, and a long skirt.

"The usual place?" you ask. Hitomi smiles and nods- the 'usual place' is an okonomiyaki restaurant in the heart of Shibuya, and it's where you and Hitomi realized you were more into each other than typical study partners.

As you ride the subway to Shibuya, the TV screen that typically plays news for passengers suddenly displays breaking news. "Reports from Kabukicho are saying that what can only be described as a 'giant brain' is attacking civilians."

The news report shows shaky camera footage of a humanoid brain the size of an infant hovering about a meter or so off the ground. Thin tendrils hang from the underside and the footage ends with a vertical mouth opening up to let out what looks like a blast of wind. Your blood goes cold. That's a kaijin.

"I have family in Kabukicho," you say. The lie comes easy- something that makes you feel really guilty. "I gotta go make sure they're alright."

"But-!" starts Hitomi. She stops, looks down, and sighs. "Just...be careful. Your mom and your siblings wouldn't be able to take losing you."

"I'll be OK." you say as the train comes to a stop. As you run out of the subway, you look back to Hitomi and shout to her over the hubbub of the passengers disembarking: "I'll make this up to you, I promise!"

You don't even bother calling for a cab or getting on another train. You find a secluded, out of the way row of buildings that aren't in line of sight from the sidewalks and parkour your way to your apartment, crawling in and out in less than a minute with your suit on.

You swing your way to Kabukicho, trying to move as fast as you can. When you approach, people are fleeing in droves, Kabukicho proper almost entirely abandoned in the panicked rush.

You look around and see that the kaijin did a number on Kabukicho: broken windows, upended mailboxes and outdoor tables.

You crawl down to ground level to get a better sense of where the kaijin went. As you search, you see a bunch of debris forming a trail down a backalley.

>That's kinda weird. If the kaijin was trying to terrorize people, why go somewhere secluded? Follow it.

That's kinda weird. If the kaijin was trying to terrorize people, why go somewhere secluded? You follow the trail of destruction.

The trail leads to an opened manhole. You look down and grimace. You'll have to go down there...But God, it smells awful!

You take a deep breath of air before jumping down.

As you enter the dark tunnel, you realize you're at a disadvantage here: it's a lot more claustrophobic in here, and you're used to being able to swing freely. As you ponder this, your Spider Sense goes ballistic as you hear the sound of wind...

You're prepared for the attack this time, doing a flip over the air blast. You're really glad you're wearing a hard helmet and not a cloth mask, because the attack causes sewage to splatter all over.

You leap to the side of the tunnel as you manage to avoid a- laser blast?!

You hear sloshing footsteps as a figure approaches from the darkness. You can see the brain kaijin...now with a full body attached.

"*Blurgle* They don't call me the 'Double-Headed Demon' for nothing, Kamen Spider! *Blurgle*" says Soutoukin. "My brain can detach and reattach itself to my body, and when I'm in my body..."

The brain opens out and a laser shoots out, barely missing you.

"...My wind attack becomes an energy attack! *blurgle*"

Soutoukin brandishes its twin sickle-claws, poised to attack.

"*Blurgle* That's right, Kamen Spider! Flee! No one can resist the might of the Iron Cross Army! *Blurgle*"

You feel like crap for running away, but you didn't have much of a choice.

You look down at your webshooter. The webbing is strong enough to hold as an impromptu bandage long enough to curtail the risk of an infection.

First, I'd check it for any obvious tracking devices or if it's switched to self-destruct mode. Can't be too careful with villain tech.

If it seems safe, I'd spin a raft using debris as a base, then lie the suit on it and tug it out of the tunnel. The other alternative is to take it to pieces and carry it out limb by limb.
