This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a thirty (thirty one) year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have fifteen minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls were once used to determine success or failure. But, due to the rather unpredictable nature of the dice essentially making it irrelevant whether or not you made smart decisions, were fighting outside your weight class, etc, we're going to do away with those, at least for the time being.

This quest sometimes uses music, and this website is not good with embed videos from youtube. So, it may be that you want to open youtube links in a new tab so they start at the right part.

I hope everyone has fun.

We should give Jackie Chun a Rock Bottom into a Bear Shout.
>>
The best course of action here should be to take out all of the Chuns at once. Taking the time to locate the real one and attacking him specifically could give him enough time to strike against you, and you don't want to let him have that chance. Gathering up your energy and letting out a yell, you strike all six with a powerful burst of energy that unfortunately incinerates several trees around you along with the various fake Jackies. When you look around, though, you see no sign of Chun. For the briefest of moments, you worry that you accidentally destroyed the old man along with his illusions, but cast that aside just as quickly. He's around here somewhere, you simply need to find him.

Closing your eyes and sensing for his energy, you discover that he's not anywhere around you, but up above you. Looking up into the air, you see the old man, his hands cupped together, with a blue light shining between them.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" he roars, thrusting his arms toward you and releasing a massive azure wave of light.

Not wanting to do anything fancy to stop it, and not feeling like standing there to take it, you decide to avoid the attack altogether and take the opportunity to go on the offensive against Chun. With a simple utterance of "Kai Kai", you travel instantaneously to the space behind Jackie Chun, and strike, throwing a punch at the back of his head.

Jackie spins around, your fist hitting nothing but empty air, and your outstretched arm being trapped in your opponent's grip. Right now, he has you in a perfect position to simply break your arm, but rather than doing that, he throws his head forward, striking you in the nose and making you see stars. Chun maneuvers himself behind you, twisting your arm behind your back and pulling you toward the ground as he begins to fall, his inability to fly making him act as an anchor that now drags you down toward the Earth below. Hooking his legs around you and throwing his upper body forward while pulling them back, he manages to turn you in such a way that you're now heading face-first to the ground with the old man on your back.

You aren't going to let him overpower you like this. He may have been the champion once, and he's certainly a mighty martial artist in his own right, but you're the world champion, the Guardian of Earth, you're leagues above him, and it's about time you reminded him of that. He may have one of your arms, but you've got one still free, and you throw it back, an elbow-strike aimed at the old man's head.

Your elbow hits something, but it isn't Chun's head. No, you've hit the palm of his hand. You pull back and strike again, but he simply stops it once more. He doesn't make a sound while doing so, and you don't feel any particular change in his energy, telling you that he pulled this off rather easily.

"You're every bit as arrogant as you were when you were a child," Chun declares in displeasure. "It seems you need a repeat of the lesson I gave you back then!"

The two of you continue to fall, and Chun holds firm until the last moment, when he unhooks his legs, presses his palm against the small of your back, and releases your arm. Before you can take advantage of this sudden freedom, you feel a strong jolt push you from behind, sending you into the ground in a speedy, face-first crash.

It hurts, but the blow to your pride hurts worse. Jackie Chun is talking to you like you're an inexperienced child. He took your attacks like they were nothing, outmaneuvered you at every turn, and left you lying face-down in the dirt. As you push yourself back up, you find him standing a short distance away, glaring at you with obvious disapproval.

"Is this really how the so-called "Champion" fights?" he asks you. "You may as well not bother entering the tournament, Tofoo. The real fighters will pick you apart."

>A. Attack him head-on with all you've got!

>B. Answer his comments with a Bear Shout

>>2943277
Picking yourself the rest of the way up, you drop back into your defensive stance, falling into the Bear Style of combat, and hoping to remind Chun of why you were always such a formidable fighter, and became one of the greatest warriors Earth has to offer.

Chun does not look particularly impressed. He continues to look at you with disapproval, adjusting his stance as he prepares to go on the attack. The two of you remain motionless for just a moment before Jackie moves, astounding you with his speed as he closes the distance and crouches in front of you, pulling back an arm to throw a punch. You move your own arm to block, but the punch never comes. Instead, Chun springs up and over you, kicking you in the back of the head as he drops behind you.

The attack has far more force than you expected, and you're thrown forward, face-planting once again on the forest floor. Your vision blurs for a second, and the realization that you were very nearly knocked out hits you like a tank. You glance over your shoulder, finding Chun standing over you, frowning.

"Predictable, sloppy, arrogant," he rattles off.

You're getting really tired of this old man talking down to you. You sweep at his legs, firing off a Bear Shout at the same instant, intending to knock him off his balance and hit him full-force with your signature attack. Unfortunately for you, it doesn't work out that way. Instead, your attacks pass right through Chun, who fades away into nothing.

An Afterimage? Dammit, how could you be so-

"Careless," Chun remarks from behind your head.

You look toward his voice just in time to get a face-full of foot and be knocked back to the ground, your vision once again swimming from the attack and your head hitting the forest floor.

"This is a waste of my time," Chun tells you. "How has such a promising warrior fallen so far? I expected more from you, Tofoo. I guess it was foolish of me to think that an arrogant child would amount to anything more than an arrogant fool of a man."

"Kuma-Ken!" you shout, deciding to take the old man somewhat seriously as an opponent.

With a burst of energy, you get yourself back up, taking a moment to locate Chun's energy before attacking to ensure you don't just go after an Afterimage again. Finding your target, you spring forward, letting out a yell and throwing all of your power into a punch aimed at the old man's face.

His hand shoots up to catch it, blocking your strike with his left palm, though this time, his arm trembles slightly under the force of your attack. His stance is perfect, though, allowing him to keep from being quickly overpowered as you push against him.

"Finally decided to put some power behind those punches, eh?" he asks before throwing a kick at you.

Your knee comes up just in time to block it, and you throw your head forward, aiming for his nose like he did with you. His right fist comes crashing into your left cheek, knocking your head off-target, but you quickly remedy things a bit by driving your knee into his gut. Chun takes a step back, clutching his stomach, while you rub your cheek. He regards you for a moment, that disappointment seeming to have largely left his face and been replaced by a more blank expression as he drops into another fighting stance. He seems quite relaxed despite your sudden increase in power, but you're glad you at least didn't need to listen to more criticism.

>A. Attack again! Take him down!

>B. Go back to fighting with the Bear Style.

>C. Start firing off energy attacks

Jeez, I missed a lot of the fight
I support>>2943511 as it'd be a good way to catch him off guard. I'm dissapointed we got pushed into using kami-ken, I was really hoping we could take him on in base form. Just shows we've got a lot to work on in the next 7 years.
>>
>>2943527
So far you're only using Kuma-Ken
>>
>>2943511
Not wanting to give him a chance to gain the upper hand again, you begin firing off energy blasts, making them intentionally weak as you fire them off in large numbers. Chun swats aside the first, then the second, then the third, then begins batting all of them away. When you begin putting little bits of electricity into the attacks, however, he begins hitting them back at you. They're simple enough to dodge, but you're disappointed to see that your shots aren't having much effect.

You put the normal amount of energy into the next pair, charging them with electricity and sending them after your opponent, who puts a foot back and turns his body so that they fly harmlessly past him. His eyes remain locked on you, meaning that as you redirect the attacks, he doesn't see them coming. You remain still, eyes meeting his, then widening in surprise as your shots come back around and phase through a Jackie Chun that isn't there. At the perfect moment, he strikes from the side. You turn and raise your arms to block the flying kick he throws at you, but are still knocked off-balance. Chun lands and thrusts his right arm toward you, producing a powerful gust of wind that knocks you off of your feet altogether. You fire off another blast, but he sidesteps it effortlessly, cupping his hands together and gathering energy.

"Ka....me....." he begins.

>A. Get up and answer him with your own Kamehameha Wave

>B. Charge your own, then try to fake him out with the Afterimage technique

>C. Charge your attack, then Kai Kai behind him and use it.

>>
>>2943581
Once more getting back on your feet, you consider what to do in response to Jackie Chun's Kamehameha Wave. You could dodge and try to strike him, try to hit him before he can even finish readying the attack, standing your ground and block or take it, or answer with your own. The energy you can feel from Chun is impressive, but you're still fairly confident you could overpower him if it came down to a beam struggle.

Then again, that kind of confidence didn't help you in the early stages of the fight. Maybe trying to go through this with brute force alone would be unwise.

What then, should you do? An idea comes to mind after a moment of thought, and you ultimately end up taking a stance just like Chun's, cupping your hands and channeling your energy. The old warrior watches you intently, studying you as if he expects some sort of trick.

"Ka.....me......" you begin, a pulsing orb of brilliant blue light forming between your palms.

You register worry on Chun's face, but only for a moment. Perhaps he too doubts if he could overpower you in a beam struggle. Whatever the case, he seems to resolve to see it through. Whether fortunately or unfortunately for him, he won't have to do that.

"Ha....me......" he continues, gathering more power.

"Ha...me....." you repeat, gathering up the remaining energy needed for your attack, while at the same time keeping focused on Chun's energy. You want to make damn sure that you're preparing to strike against the real Jackie Chun, and not a fake. Satisfied that he's really there, you open your mouth, not to finish shouting the name of your attack, but instead to say "Kai Kai".

You move behind your foe, thrusting your hands toward his back and shouting at the top of your lungs.

"HAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The blast is enormous, engulfing Chun entirely and obliterating much of the forest before you, laying waste to trees and presumably animals that could not get out of the way in time. You feel a twinge of regret, but that becomes far more profound when your blast stops and you see only smoldering Earth where the old man stood only a second ago.

Did you....

That train of thought comes to a screeching halt as Chun leaps from the trees to your right.

You spin toward him, eyes wide in absolute shock as he shoots through the air toward you, hands cupped, energy gathered, and a look of focus on his face.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!" he roars, unleashing his own Kamehameha Wave.

Like yours, the blast is enormous. Unlike yours, however, it hits its target. You're ripped right off the ground as the blast engulfs you, pushing you through the forest and laying waste to anything else in its path. For your part, you aren't killed, but it hurts. You can feel your skin sear, pain shooting through your body as the force of the attack threatens to completely overwhelm you. You doubt it'll kill you, but you have no trouble believing that its full power could knock you out.

>Continued
>>
>>2943667
Mostly, though, you're trying to figure out how the Hell he managed to pull that off. You were sensing his energy, that was really him up until you teleported. If he used the Afterimage technique or dodged into the woods, he would have had to time that absolutely perfectly in addition to knowing what you were going to do in the first place. There shouldn't be any way he could have done that, unless he's reading your mind or something.

Jackie Chun is a warrior you have long respected. Even still, you did not expect this much of a challenge from him. He seems able to perfectly predict and counter your attacks, and is displaying a level of strength you didn't think he'd have. How will you beat him?

Well, one thing's for sure, you won't if this blast knocks you out.

An old technique you don't make much use of springs to mind. Focusing your energy, you create something of a barrier around your body, keeping the bulk of the attack's power at bay long enough to slip out of it. You stumble to the ground, free of the wave, letting the barrier drop as you catch your breath. You right yourself and look around, spotting Chun in the distance, calmly walking toward you. It looks like he either wants to have a friendly chat, or he's still got plenty of gas in the tank to keep fighting.

Either way, you've certainly learned not to underestimate this man.

As Chun approaches, you quickly work out a new strategy to use against him. Your plan is to draw him in, use the Solar Flare to stun him, then start throwing energy attacks. Even if he can sense them coming, without his eyes he'll be at a disadvantage, and eventually you'll get lucky and hit him. If you put enough power into your attacks, one hit may be all that you need. If nothing else, landing such an attack should slow your foe down and make him more manageable.

Taking a simple fighting stance, you wait for Chun to get closer. He takes the bait, rushing toward you and preparing to strike, and running head-first into your little trap. Once he gets within a reasonable distance, you raise your hands in front of your face, your shout echoing through the forest.

"SOLAR FLARE!"

A blinding light erupts around you, assailing the eyes of any unfortunate enough to see it. Through the light comes a foot, one which strikes you right in the face and throws you to the ground. Not expecting this attack, your defenses are lowered, allowing Chun to easily land a devastating blow and cause you quite a bit of pain.

Looking up, you see Chun land in a crane stance, his eyes closed. The old bastard saw your move coming and protected himself from it. Clever man.

For a moment, you're at a complete loss as to how you can beat him. Power isn't enough, and your various strategies just don't seem to be working. It's as if he can predict every move you'll be making long before you make them. It's quite infuriating to have to deal with, and makes him obscenely difficult to defeat. But there's always a way to fight smarter, and you draw from a strategy used by your nieces very recently.

Focusing your energy, you split yourself into two beings, two Tofoo's. As a result, your energy is halved, but now there are two warriors to oppose Chun instead of one. Your doppelganger rushes in toward Jackie, while you draw forth your godly energy, using the Kami-Ken. Then, you join in the attack.

The other you gets beaten back by Chun rather easily, but once you jump into the mix, the old man seems to have some difficulty in predicting your attacks. He manages to block most of yours, but your copy lands a solid blow to the old man's face, causing him to stagger back and leaving an opening for you to land a punch to his gut, charged with electricity that makes his body tremble. The other Tofoo then strikes again, landing a kick to Chun's face that sends him rolling through the dirt.

He quickly picks himself back up, taking a moment to catch his breath before readying himself for your next series of attacks. Both you and the other Tofoo swoop in, your fists charged with electricity as you begin to attack once more, each taking different approaches as you strike again and again. Chun still manages to block several attacks, though doing so clearly causes him pain. Finally, your copy manages to land a strong kick in Chun's gut, and you take advantage of the created opening, throwing an uppercut that launches him into the air, then leaping up after him and punching him right in the gut as you bring him crashing to the ground, with him sprawled on his back and you kneeling beside him. With a yell, you unleash a burst of energy from the hand you have buried in his gut, causing the ground beneath him to crater, and his entire body to jerk with the impact.

Picking yourself off of the ground, and removing your fist from his gut, you look down at Jackie Chun, who still seems a bit out of it following your last attack. He seems beaten, but better to check so that he doesn't punch you in the back of the head or something while your back is turned.

"Do you give up?" you ask the old man at your feet.

His trembling stops, though he still clutches his gut where your Power Geyser hit him. His eyes open, and you can see that he looks rather irritated at you.

"Don't get cocky," he growls, his body glowing as he too splits into two beings.

One leaps up and launches himself at you, throwing a punch you manage to block easily enough, while the other strikes against your doppelganger, quickly forcing the other you onto the defensive. The one in front of the Kami-Ken-using you begins to viciously attack as well, and once more you find yourself having difficulty fending him off.

Deciding to use your environment to your advantage, you fall back and uproot one of the large trees, letting your other self know to be ready with a Bear Shout if the Chuns dodge. You swing with all your might, and sure enough, your foes dodge into the air. The other you fires off a Bear Shout, but one of the Chun's holds out a hand and manages to stop the blast altogether once it comes in contact with his palm.

The two Jackies land side-by-side, each one poised to continue fighting.

"I think I've seen enough," one remarks. "Surrender."

"Nah," both Tofoo's say as one, once more launching into attacks against the old men.

The two of you pick a target, then switch just before reaching him, catching each Chun off-guard at the sudden change, and allowing each of you to land a hit. However, the Chuns quickly recover and manage to fend you off, prompting you to switch again. This time, however, they seem ready for it, and are able to fend off your attacks far more effectively.

As the two of you move to switch again, each of you is stopped as Chun waves his hands in front of his body, his voice gently whispering in your mind.

"Go to sleep....little boy....happy child....rock-a-bye.....sleep...."

You feel yourself slowing, your body beginning to stagger as his hypnotic suggestions slowly take effect.

Not like this!

You and your double electrocute yourselves to stay awake. This battle isn't over, and you aren't going to lose to such a simple trick. If Chun wants to beat you, he'll have to do better than that.

>Seeing Jackie Chun style on us this hard even when we're fighting at our strongest.

Is this the Ultra Instinct Roshi meme made partially real?
>>
>>2951089
No, but Ultra Instinct would probably be the best way to counter him.
>>
>>2951089
>>2951332
He kind of used it in the manga.
>>
>>2951700
Not quite, but enough to remind Goku that he's supposed to be a martial artist.
>>
We need to make a third Tofoo who just spans controlled shots to make a cage around the Chuns while they fight the other two. Restrict their movement and once the cage is complete reform into a single Tofoo and Hellzone Grenade the Chuns.

Can’t ki buff all points of your body at once.
>>
>>2954468
i was hoping we would use solar flare followed by multiform + wolf fang fist + eight arm fist.

the idea is to have one of the three Tofoo wait around in Kami-Ken form and just observe to figure out what Chun is doing.

this fight is -meaningless- unless we gain insight into the old masters techniques.

this style of fighting specifically qould greatly enhance the Bear School once Tofoo put his own martial arts spin on it.
>>
>>2954468
>>2954481
Both ideas are fine but we can do better. You know what's our most useful technique? Kai-Kai. Let's Kai-Kai one of the old men and make a visit to the ozone cape. Then go back and gang up on the last one.
>>
>>2954495
thats... sort of cheap?.

And since everyone can fly it might not be nearly as effective as you expect.

Having thought about it, Chun most likely has REALLY good after images. to the point where they might as well just be multi-forms.

That combined with his ki nullification technique would make him a formidable opponent.

we should also spar with Shen at some point to figure out his Antagonistic Ki attack.

Bear school combined with Ki nullification and Ki shield could make Tofoo really tanky. especially if we train to reflexively use contact point ki shielding
>>
>>2955145
It is. I'm glad you could tell. I'm the cheapest of the bunch and I won't hold back in a Som quest.

It doesn't matter, Teleporting is still infinitely faster than flying and since the fights go at hyperspeed even one second can give us an edge.

You really should stop overselling Jackie Chun, the line between speculation and misinformation is getting very blur.

I wouldn't get too excited about learning this Ki stuff, maybe if we impress Chun in what's left of the battle he might teach us but even then, knowing Som that might mean having to give up other improvements we could make in our training and I have a lot of things I want us to do. Like, I've been wanting to use Multiform since forever and I hope this battle helps people realize it's perks.
>>
>>2955171
eh, i dont care if its cheap. I just think it wont work very well. tofoo cant breath in a vacuum either. and knowing som we wouldnt be able to kaikai unless we could speak.

as for ki manipulation, i want it for the same reason the kienzan is a good idea. In order to punch above our weight class.

being able to no sell beam attacks is a big deal.

But, I think we can learn it just through observation. After all Tofoo has already seen this trick a few times. And he knows the energy/life force dispersal technique.

multi form does come with a pretty hefty drawback. In that regard I don't think it will ever be a main component of our fighting style.
>>
>>2955420
Okay, maybe sending him to the ozone layer was a bit of an exaggeration. Just teleporting very far should work.

Fair enough.

You missed the point. We make a lot of assumptions (As Som used to point out) and when we act with those assumptions in mind we get fucked. Case in point >>2950176

Maybe.

You really underestimate the tactical adventage of having 2 bodies. And we can already mitigate the drawback with our transformations, I bet we could tweak the technique a little to make it less shit.
>>
>>2956835
>>2955420
Still making oh so many assumptions
>>
>>2957227
