In the far future, biotechnology advances by leaps and bounds, creating stunning achievements in medical, civil, and military applications. Illness becomes a thing of the past, and genetic modification is as commonplace as cosmetic surgery.

However, like all great advances, unchecked progress and experimentation has led to abuse and corruption. Ultra powerful megacorporations that monopolized the latest biotech have risen to be the great powers of the age, waging secret wars of sabotage, espionage, and deceit to get ahead of each other.

In order to fuel their rampant growth, megacorps develop lethal diseases and viruses, horrific bio-organic abominations, and ever more exotic genetic modifications to both sell to the highest bidder and unleash upon each other.

The rampant proliferation of bioweapons, and the need to contain them, has given rise to a new profession, the BIOWEAPON HUNTER.

You are LEWIS, a Hunter specializing in hunting down biological threats with your T-Doll companion HK!

Right now, you were riding in a police helicopter along with Lucina and her T-Doll partner, ST-AR. This was turning out to be a very odd ride along day. Down below, you could see the warehouse the helicopter was orbiting around, already surrounded by a ring of flashing red and blue lights. Not far from the perimeter, you could also see the STARS team ready to breach the ground the floor and flush out the gangers hiding inside.

"All right, just tell me when to head down!" The pilot says.

"I'll let you know, Brad." Lucina nods. "We'll time it with the main team's breach."

"I think we should perform a combat drop." ST-AR suggests. "It's faster and guarantees maximum surprise."

"At the risk of breaking our legs." Lucina pauses. "Well, breaking mine and Lewis' legs."

"I'm confident you two will be fine." ST-AR shrugs.

"Well..." Lucina glances at you. "How about it, Lewis?"

"I'm up for a little danger." You grin as you give your shotgun a pump. "Let's do it."

"Well, I suppose we can go for maximum surprise." Lucina nods as she slides the door open. "Just hold this altitude, Brad!"

"R-right!" The pilot affirms.

ST-AR is first you, casually stepping out the door and plunging straight down feet first. Lucina is out second.

And then it was your turn.

You give a textbook rolling landing, bleeding off all of the excess momentum from your drop and coming to a stop right by Lucina and ST-AR, who were already getting situated on their bearings.

At the same time, you could hear a loud and sharp BANG and a voice yelling "Go go go!"

Looks like the STARS team had initiated their breach.

"Let's move." ST-AR says as she casually kicks the roof access door in.

"Stick close to us." Lucina reminds you as she raises her riot shield and takes the lead into the stairwell.

"Don't have to tell me twice." You say as you stack up behind her while ST-AR takes up the rear. All of you were expecting biomodded gangers like these to put up a nasty fight, only confirmed by the sounds of gunfire in the background.

Right now, your priority was to...

"Let's take out any BOWs they might be packing before they cause any damage." Lucina says as you three reach the bottom of the stairwell. "Star, can you track anything?"

"I'm picking up big thermal readings coming from there." ST-AR points across the room to what looks to be a repurposed walk in freezer.

However, there were two gangers standing guard at the front door. They were obviously modded, but from this distance you couldn't tell what they were packing. Besides those, they were holding regular assault rifles, and were antsy enough to use them.

"All right, Lewis, Star, watch my back." Lucina says grimly.

"What are you going to do?" You ask.

"Ask them to surrender, of course." Lucina says calmly as she slides the protective visor of her tactical helmet down.

ST-AR just silently nods as she keeps her rife up and ready.

You watch as Lucina walks forward confidently, her shield not even up, but her handgun drawn and ready to fire.

"You two! Hands up!" She barks in an aggressive and commanding tone.

The two gangers hesitate, as if not even expecting a policewoman to so confidently stroll up right to them. However, the one to the right comes to his senses first and his jaw unhinges, as if about to spit something at Lucina.

But Lucina was far quicker. In an instant, she flings her riot shield like a giant frisbee, the massive rectangular object spinning through the air and slamming right into the ganger's face. The ganger goes down instantly.

Lucina then gives a tough glare to the second ganger, as if daring him to try something as well.

"Okay! Okay! I surrender!" The ganger whimpers as he falls to his knees and raises his hands, dropping his gun in the process.

"Cuff him, Star." Lucina grunts as she walks over to the unconscious ganger and kicks his dropped weapon away before cuffing him.

"Roger." ST-AR nods as she swiftly moves forward and secures the second ganger.

"So what have you got hiding in there?" You ask, nodding to the security door.

"I ain't gonna tell-"

Lucina turns her face back towards him.

"We got Xenos!" The ganger whimpers. "Two drones!"

"You're kidding me." Lucina pales.

"Fuck." You grunt.

Xenos were military grade BOWs, manufactured by Weyland Corp. Bug like, fast, and insanely smart. Not the sort of thing you wanted to fight in a close in warehouse environment like this.

"WELL WELL."

You, Lucina, and ST-AR look up to see what had to be the gangleader in an overhead office, speaking through an intercom. He was a big and frankly extremely ugly guy, half his body covered in hard carapace with an arm ending in a massive lobster claw. "Looks like we got piggies sneaking about! Guess my pets are gonna eat well tonight!"

And that's when the security door starts to slide open.

Already you could you smell the musky, rotten stench of Xenomorphs wafting from the crack. This wasn't going to be pretty.

"Damn." Lucina seethes. "Looks like he was ready for us."

"Pretty sure this is a distraction for him to get away." ST-AR observes as she gets her weapon ready, too.

Well, this wasn't the first time you've had to tangle with Xenos, even if it was with a bit of backup. But drones were the most basic and relatively least threatening. At the very least, you were sure you could occupy them enough to give Lucina and ST-AR the time to nab the perp.

"You two, go! I can handle these little bastards." You say as you give your shotgun and encouraging pump.

"You're sure about this?" Lucina puts a hand on her shoulder. You didn't need a biosensor to feel the concern radiating off of her hand.

"Don't worry, this isn't my first rodeo." You wink.

"Well, don't get yourself killed then, cowboy." ST-AR grunts. "Come on, Captain. The perp's getting away."

Lucina and ST-AR then take off while you stay put, facing the slowly opening doors, the squealing of servos only barely hiding the chittering of the monsters on the other end.

You try to remember what you learned about Xenomorphs from Hank. Basically just giant bugs with acid blood. They had a fairly tough exoskeleton that was resistant against low caliber rounds, and they were quick and agile as hell. Devilishly smart, too. They were essentially stalkers and ambush hunters.

You could stand your ground and hit them as they come out. That's where they're the most vulnerable, but it did leave you rather exposed. The alternative would be to hide and ambush the ambushers, pick them off one by one, hopefully.

Well, if you were going to have the best chance to take out a pair of Xenos, it would be while they had to deal with a chokepoint. You ready your shotgun as you do a quick check of your shells.

Currently, you had buckshot loaded. At this range, it could easily deal with a Xeno and rip through its carapace like paper, but the fuckers had acid blood and something as destructive as buckshot had a chance of scattering it on you.

You had alternate options, though. There were incendiary shells that could set them on fire, which Xenos (and most living thing) generally didn't like though it wouldn't down them instantly. You also had shock shells that could potentially paralyze the Xenos long enough for a followup attack..

Xenos were quick, but so were you. Your biosensor helps you stay a split second ahead of them as you raise your shotgun and fire. You're immediately rewarded with a flash of orange and a pained shriek as one of the Xenos is set alight and it dashes off in a panic.

The second Xeno manages to leap clear of the wave of fire and scuttles away, disappearing into the rows and rows of shelves and crates. Just great.

As the first Xeno continues to shriek in the background due to the flames burning away at its carapace and flesh, you continue your pursuit of the second Xeno. You couldn't afford to let it wander around. It would pose a risk to the rest of the STARS team, or worse, Lucina.

Your biosensor is a great help in this. Besides to two cuffed gangers and the burning Xeno, there wasn't much interference in this warehouse to throw it off. You get a positive reading of something hiding behind a large pile of crates.

You easily leap over the pile of crates and immediately catch sight of the Xeno lurking below you. You could almost swear with amusement that the Xeno was staring at you with a shocked expression on its face, its fanged mouth wide open in shock.

And that open mouth proved to be the perfect target as you lower the barrel of your shotgun and fire.

The incendiary shell flies through the air and plunges straight down the monster's gullet before exploding in flame, roasting the Xeno inside out. With smoke and fire erupting from its mouth like a chimney, the Xeno is dead before you even land.

At that exact moment, you see a pair of STARS agents round the corner, weapons at the ready.

"FREEZE!" One of them yells, pointing a frankly oversized revolver at you.

"Whoa! Hey!" You raise your hands non aggressively. "I'm on your side, asshole"!

"Barry, he's with us." The other STARS agent says as he reaches out and pushes his partner's weapon down. "You're Lucina's friend, aren't you?"

"You could say that, yeah." You nod.

"Officer Redfield. I've heard the stories about you." The STARS agent says as he glances at the smoldering corpse of the Xeno. "I guess they might be true."

"Hey, it's been nice talking to you guys, but I gotta go so I'll just leave the cleanup here to you!" You say before taking off in the direction you last saw Lucina go, not even giving the two cops a chance to protest.

You weave your way through destroyed and bullet riddled hallways, having to step over the occasional dead ganger, each one taken down to ruthless precision. It didn't take much imagination to figure out who was responsible for this path of carnage, but it at least served as a guide of where to go.

Finally, you come out to the dock side of the warehouse, where cargo could be directly offloaded by incoming boats. You could see the ringleader making a run for what looked to be a moored yacht, with Lucina and ST-AR in close pursuit. The T-doll was firing as she moved, but the ringleader's tough biomodded carapace seemed to be bouncing her bullets. He had a portable submachine gun in his other hand as he sprayed bullets at Lucina, forcing her back while ST-AR continued on, uncaring.

From your entry point and angle, you could probably intercept him before he got to the yacht... or you could probably just shoot him, even if a shotgun wasn't too ideal at the range you were at.

You take a deep breath. You may not have advanced lung or muscle biomods, but you liked to think that you were at least in good enough physical shape to get other heavily biomodded opponents a run for their money. And with that, you blast off into a rapid sprint, aiming yourself to intercept the fleeing ringleader.

You manage to gain ground on the ringleader. Thankfully he wasn't terribly fast due to all that extra carapace weighing him down, but he was still undoubtedly physically strong. You'd have to carefully consider how to actually STOP him. Using a regular slug was sure to knock him down, but was also very likely to outright kill him, which Lucina would frown on. Shock rounds were a nonlethal but slightly less reliable option. Would a stun shock even affect him?

Or you could get physical the old fashioned way...

"STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!" You yell as you leap into the air and hit the ringleader square in the face with a flying kick. "YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!"

The ringleader drops like a sack of potatoes, allowing Lucina and ST-AR to finally catch up. Lucina instinctively kneels down to cuff the man, but realizes it would be impossible to normally cuff him due to his oversized lobster claw arm. Instead, she leaves ST-AR to police the fallen man while she walks up to you.

"That was... unconventional." Lucina grins. "Unconventional, but highly effective. Where'd you learn to do that?"

"Well, you did a good job." ST-AR nods to you and smirks. "Not bad for a guy doing so much work for free."

Aw nuts. Now it just hit you that this was still your day off, so you weren't actually going to get paid for all this public service!

"What? Only a measly officer?" You scoff with mock indignation. "I should make detective, at the very least."

Thanks for running Merc!

When will we get T-Dolls engaged in some high impact philosophical debates?
>>
>>2946631

So, considering we're in Raccoon City, the STARS are all here, and the Umbrella Corp is very much active, anyone want to make any guesses as to what Nemesis will be like when it inevitably shows up?

Will it be the giant, rocket launcher packing monstrosity hell-bent on eliminating STARS members? Will it be the Type 1 aka Carol?

Or, maybe, it'll be Lewis himself for the bad end?
>>
>>2946786
[spolier]Pretty sure nemesis is our sister.[/spoiler]
>>
>>2946805
Bullshit. Nemesis can't possibly be this cute.
>>
>>2946805
>>2946786
This does raise a few questions such as how much does Lucina really know about Carol. That's not mentioning what could potentially happen if Carol's secret was leaked to the megacorps and STARS.

We could be standing at a crossroads between Lewis protecting his sister, and Lucina having to choose between her duty fighting BOWs, and being a friend.
>>
>>2946805

Just use ctrl+s while typing for easy spoiler next time.

Either way, I did mention that, considering its explicitly stated back in MGH but as >>2946811 says Carol doesn't exactly fill the bill; never mind the fact that she wasn't created by the Umbrella Corp, is a shapeshifter, and was purpose-built to hunt down rogue MG's.

>>2946812

I'd guess Lucina doesn't know a thing, and if Carol's secret was leaked shit would go down, though considering just how much of a murder machine she is I imagine most megacorps would back down after having their first strike teams turned into chunky salsa and STARS really only goes after illegal creations which, technically, Carol is not.

What I'm interested in is whether or not Lewis himself is a BOW. There's not much in the way of direct evidence for it, sans that capture someone posted a while back of Lewis turning his face into a mask after Loki taught him which I'm not certain is canonical exactly, but the simple fact that Lewis and Carol are stated to be direct brother and sister, rather than step or half, and that Lewis has yet to mention having a father leads me to believe that he's another Nemesis that Egan cooked up sometime after the events of MGH. In addition to this, when Carol and HK first met Lewis specifically states that his sister is able to adjust her genetic composition to perfectly emulate that of a human's, thus spoofing any kinds of scans or similar ways of detecting BOWs, to which HK replies that marks her as an Omega-level shapeshifter. Now, while Carol does this deliberately, if Lewis truly is a BOW he would be subconsciously maintaining his form as it's the only 'form' he knows of and as such he would always trick any kind of test performed on him without even realizing. Finally, it would also explain why Carol lives with Lewis as she'd be around to keep an eye on him to insure he doesn't realize the truth about himself; or to incapacitate him if he does. If this ends up being true, the question I would have would be why did Egan/Alice create a BOW that believe's he's a human?

Of course, this could all be wild theorizing and conjecture that isn't true, but discussion keeps the thread from being quite so dead between runs.
>>
>>2946812
My real questions are where is Wesker in all of this. And if Leon will show up.
>>
>>2946838
Looking back at the ending of MGHQ, Lewis has traces of companion and invader DNA. What powers that gives him is anyone's guess
>>
>>2947523

What thread's that from? Last MGH thread I remember is the one that ended with that massive, invader mother-thing being foreshadowed.

The rest of the day was spent simply cleaning up the whole mess that was the police raid on this gang hideout. Turned out, these guys were using a lot of stolen Weyland Corp tech. You suspect Umbrella decided to wield the full might of STARS on them in order to win some PR points.

Either way, you kept your distance from the STARS guys and let them do the real forensic work. You didn't want them complaining that you accidentally destroyed evidence or something. You just milling about the portable refreshment table for the forensic workers, which was basically just a long folding table stocked to the brim with coffee pots and cups. Not that you were complaining.

Still, it was a pretty exciting day overall. And Lucina had even invited you out! You don't even remember the last time she was willing to do that. You were... well, you were...

Honestly, you were more curious about this sudden change of heart from Lucina than anything else. Was she genuinely coming around, or did she have some sort of ulterior motive? You didn't want to think of a close friend like that, but it's been years since you'd actually been intimate in any way, and working under Umbrella's thumb could change a person in one way or another.

But well, you were already committed to it. You look over to see Lucina and ST-AR finally returning, stepping under the police tape and rejoining you.

"All right, everything's been largely settled." Lucina nods. "I suppose we can drop you back off at the station and we'll go from there."

"That reminds me, I don't think we've decided where to go, have we?" You raise an eyebrow.

"That's right, we didn't." Lucina puts a hand to her chin. "Any suggestions?"

Unfortunately for you, Carol briefly loses control of her form in her excitement and what you're tackled to the ground by isn't a regular person but a.... mass soft tissue and dozens of constricting tentacle like appendages wrapping around your body. A literal hug monster, if you will.

It was uncomfortable or anything but... it was definitely not something that felt normal at all. You just stare at the ceiling and try not to think about it.

"Ohmygosh this is so great!" Carol continues to somehow squeal in this form. "You're actually going on a date with Lucina!"

"I'm pretty sure it's not a date." You grunt, trying to conserve what little oxygen you can breathe in.

"What? AAAAAWWWWWWWW." The mass of hug flesh contracts back into Carol's human form and she gives you a sad pout. "Why not?"

"Pretty sure she just wants to catch up on things." You say as you clamber back up to your feet. "That's all."

"That's what you think, huh?" Carol frowns but her expression lights up again. "Oh, if it's not a date, then can I tag along! She won't even know I'm there!"

Considering that it took a few days, and tons of biomass to grow an arm for Alice, a full body suit should take at least a month before Carol emerges like a butterfly leaving its chrysalis.

"NOPE." You say as you karate chop Carol on the forehead. "No spying, you got it? Or I'm telling Mom you're abusing your shapeshifting again."

"Ah! N-no! I'll be good!" Carol whimpers.

You're still surprised that given all of Carol's innate power, she was still genuinely fearful of Mom's wrath. It sort of made you wonder what their relationship was like before you came along, as everything you had seen between the two of them were incredibly loving.

"Like I said, it's just gonna be dinner, so you don't have to make such a big fuss about it." You grin. "Besides, if anything interesting happens, I'll tell you all about it, okay?"

"Okay!" Carol nods. "Just be careful out there!"

Carol then takes her leave. No doubt going off to do something related to her day job. Possibly hanging out with girl friends or a night time photo shoot. He schedule was always so packed you were never sure. You just take the chance to get cleaned up and changed into a fresh set of clothes.

With everything ready, you get back to your car and drive all the way back to Lucina's penthouse. You spot her out front quickly enough. She wasn't wearing anything fancy. Just a simple jacket with skirt and stockings. It fit your suspicion that she was treating this as a casual affair.

"Been waiting long?" You ask as she opens the door and sits down in the front passenger seat next to you.

"Just a few minutes." Lucina smiles as she dutifully puts on her seatbelt.

You then hit the gas and start heading over to the place.

"So uh, why all this, all of a sudden?" You ask Lucina as you drive. "Kind of a big jump from grilling me in an interrogation room."

"What, I can do something nice for a friend?" Lucina glances at you.

"Mind you, our friend status had been a bit questionable for a while." You remind her.

"I suppose I should have figured you would be suspicious." Lucina smirks. "How about we find out of this place really is natural, then we talk about it?"

"Deal." You nod.

"Anyways." Lucina leans back in her seat. "How's Carol doing?"

"Oh, you know the usual. Always working." You shrug.

You didn't like it, but you had been told in no uncertain terms by Mom not to tell anybody about Carol's true nature. Not even Lucina or Nemo knew, but their parents certainly did. You found it somewhat odd at first, but after seeing where Lucina ended, perhaps Mom was justified in her paranoia.

"I'm still shocked that she's managed to become a top fashion star." Lucina shakes her head. "She always seemed so modest back them."

It's a good thing that Carol has been rather consistent in her appearance. Not sure how we could explain her lack of curves in her casual form aside from photoshop.

"Really? I figured it was a natural fit for her." You chuckle. "You know, she was really happy to hear about us going out together. Nearly hugged me to death."

"Did she?" Lucina pauses.

However, before anything else could be said, you catch sight of your destination, marked by a large, bright, but old neon sign blazing in the night.

"Burger Town...?" Lucina frowns.

"The best burgers in Raccoon City." You grin as you park on the side of the road. "Real, genuine beef. Not that vat grown junk Wallace Corp flooded the market with."

"How do they even stay in business?" Lucina wonders as she gets out of your car.

"Still enough people around with a taste for quality." You wink and nod at the building.

Outside, there was a light of dozens, easily over a hundred people, snaking out of the building and into the parking lot. The place was busy as ever.

"How are even supposed to get anything with this line?" Lucina wonders.

"Don't worry, they got a separate line for VIPs." You grin. "I got my in through Hank, so we should be fine."

"Always pulling out surprises." Lucina laughs lightly.

You lead Lucina around the side to another door, this one locked and kept under watch by a camera. You simply look up at it and wave. There's a buzz and the door swings open, and you're immediately hit in the face with a wave of taste. The smell of sizzling grease and cooking beef was thick in the air. Lucina looks like she's been hit with a truck, no doubt her sharper sense of smell giving her a greater sensation.

"Hey! Lewis! Bringing a date over?" The owner, Ramirez, chortles from behind the counter.

"Nah, just a friend." You you grin. "First time here."

"You don't say?" Ramirez turns to Lucina. "Lady, you're in for one hell of an experience, then!"

Ramirez then slides a pair of menus in front of you before returning to filling out the mountain of orders piling up.

"It's... so much." Lucina blinks as she goes through the menu. "They even have burgers only meant for two people!"

Well, uh, it looked like everything went better than expected.

"Ramirez!" You call out. "Get us a Jumbotown!"

"Haha! One Jumbotown, coming right up!' Ramirez cackles.

As Ramirez's hands become a flurry of activity, grabbing all sorts of ingredients and slapping them together, Lucina once again turns to you.

"And how about your mom?" She asks. "It's been a while since I've heard from her."

"You or the Department?" You ask somewhat suspiciously. Mom always did have a strong mistrust of anything government related.

"You know it's just me being worried." Lucina sighs. "Has she been doing well?"

"Yeah, still doing her thing." You shrug. "Yours?"

"Still doing their things, too." Lucina sighs. "My mom's still tinkering with genomes. Dad's just doing his best to rein her in."

"Heh, Nemo says the same thing." You chuckle.

"Really, now?" Lucina blinks. "Ah, I really should visit her sometime..."

However, before the discussion can continue and further, Ramirez plops down an absolutely MASSIVE burger down in between you and Lucina. The large soda cups and carton of fries seem like mere afterthoughts to the mountain of bread and meat standing before you.

"So... do we just... bite into it?" Lucina blinks in awe.

"Well, might as well do it while it's hot." You nod.

Both you and Lucina grab an end of the burger and lift it up, getting ready to take a bite, each.

"You can always order another one!" Ramirez cackles from the kitchen, causing Lucina to blush more.

"My apologies." She sighs.

"Hey, no worries, I can always get anther one." You chuckle. "Anyways, what's this whole meeting about?"

"Ah, yes." Lucina wipes some excess grease from her mouth a napkin. "There's a matter I wanted to discuss with you privately."

"Which is...?"

Lucina pauses and she looks around as if checking to see if anybody was eavesdropping before turning back to you.

"I want to become Police Chief." She says simply and quietly.

"You WHAT?!" Your jaw drops.

"You heard me." Lucina nods. "I want to reform the force, but I can't do it as long as Chief Wesker remains in place."

"You do know what you're implying by talking about this." You sigh. "Wesker's practically an Umbrella company man. Hell, how do you think he got the position in the first place?"

"I know, I know, but I think it's possible." Lucina continues. "If he were somehow forced to step down or resign from his position, well, I've already made arrangements that could get me into the post. The issue is getting him out in the first place."

Ah now things were starting to make sense.

"And you were hoping I would help you out on this." You conclude.

"...yes." Lucina admits. "You have contacts that I don't, and you have freedom to move and act that I don't have. I just need you to find something.... anything that can shake Chief Wesker's standing."

Was Lucina trying to get to roped into some kind of conspiracy...?

"Of course I'll help." You nod but you lean forward closer to Lucina. "But I don't have to tell you how dangerous a power play like this will be. Umbrella won't take it sitting down."

"I'm very well aware." Lucina says grimly. "But I joined the RCPD to be a police officer, not an Umbrella puppet. Something has to change."

"Well, I hope you know what you're doing." You sigh. You were used to being the one to bring trouble to Lucina, but her bringing trouble to you? That was first.

"I hope I do, too." Lucina nods and then grips your hands with hers. "Thank you, for going along with this."

"You haven't even told me your plan yet." You point out.

"In due time. I'm not ready to reveal it." Lucina explains. "I'll contact you if I need anything."

"Sure thing."

Jeez, always one thing after the other. You just really, REALLY hope Lucina knew what she was doing. Umbrella wasn't exactly the type of organization you wanted to piss off, after all.
