Sitting underneath the night sky, you gaze upwards, the buzzing wildlife filling in for your thoughts. Though you were going through what was in your backpack, you end up forgetting what you were doing. The noise of metal pieces crashing against one another shakes you out of your reverie, and the source of the sound, you find, was a large sack that Miku just dragged and dropped in front of you. You are sitting on the ground, in a small clearing right in front of a small storage shack.“What’s even is in there?” you ask, almost annoyed.Miku replies, “I think it was the costume last year. Remember they were going for a robot theme?” It worked to some extent, seeing as how every time they moved you could hear it far, far away. It was terrifying at first, then amusing. “There’s also masks and stuff in there. Where’s Hinami?” she asks.“Getting her bag,” you reply as you watch Nemuri walk out of the shack. She stumbles a little but catches herself before she loses her balance. On her face is red demon mask with two horns jutting upwards. Taking it off, she says, “I can barely see out of this. What kind of a moron made this?”Opening the bag, you take a peek inside. Beside the parts of the robot costume grinding against each other, you see something akin to a ghillie suit. There’s also a tattered cloak with a faded pattern. You have no idea what it is, but it’s something. “I’m pretty sure you can sneak up on someone really easily with this. Wait, is that a white sheet for a ghost costume?”“I’m back!” Hinami calls out from a distance. You can see her half-run to everyone, and she’s carrying the same heavy bag from before. Putting her bag down, she excitedly unzips it and presents its contents. “A fur cloak,” she starts off, unravelling it as she pulls it out and hands it to you, which you hand to Miku, “Horns...? I think?” Two branch-like horns are attached to a headband, and you quickly hand that to Nemuri. “I noticed that no one bothered to really change their height, so...” Then, she takes out a small pair of stilts, though you could call it a pair of awkwardly tall wooden shoes. You take it, and finding no one else to pawn it off to, you hold it in your hands. Finally, Hinami takes the last thing out, a metal box with a wire coming out and a small... something at the end. “A voice modulator! Here’s the microphone, and here’s the speaker. Um, please don’t lose it, I’m borrowing it and it’s really expensive.”With awe in her voice, Miku exclaims, “You brought so much! If you were going to go this far, you should’ve told me so I would’ve done the same too!”Nemuri blinks. “I think you overdid it.”“Haha...” Hinami says, “Sorry, I got a little excited.”“This is amazing,” you say, “We can do just about anything with this. Anyone got a theme in mind?”Miku thinks audibly. “Hmm. Definitely not last year’s.”

“We’re going for something new?” you say, “All we really need to do is something that wasn’t done in the past three years. We could probably make something extra weird with all this.”Hinami says, “I remember one year, they all dressed up as the thieves from the gang, but as zombies instead.”Suspicious, Nemuri balances what she has in her hands, “Maybe a... deer demon?”Miku crosses her arms. “How weird can we really get? I brought bells and chimes since I thought maybe they’d be a little creepy to hear, but I don’t see it.”Sighing, you say, “If only we could pull off a fourth dimension alien.”“I don’t think that has anything to do with the demon in the mountain at all.”Hinami, with an odd expression, says, “Alien... demon?” Nemuri only smirks.Someone calls out, “I don’t think I’ve heard of that idea before.” Turning around, you spot the club advisor approaching. He has bags under his eyes, like always. “Just thought I’d check up on you all. How’s the planning?”Nemuri replies, “Weren’t you supposed to be here earlier?”“Haha,” he says, rubbing the back of his neck. “I got lost. Speaking of getting lost, no one goes without another person. Turning to Miku, you ask, “Let’s go in pairs. We got this.”“Not if you’re thinking of aliens!” she says, half laughing. “Guess I’ll have to go with you to make sure you don’t do anything stupid.”Nemuri, turning to Hinami, says, “We’ll have to cover for them since they’ll probably joke around and get lost.”Hinami replies, “I think they’ll be fine. We won’t lose, though!”Scratching his head, the club advisor says, “When did this turn into a competition?”You get to work, racking your head what to do. You and Miku find a spot farther away from the flags, while the other two choose somewhere closer. It’s dark here, though the path is straight. There’s plenty of places to hide, especially with a large boulder on the side that reaches your height and then some.As you’re trying to finesse the duct tape into doing what you want it to do, Miku calls out from atop a tree, “Hey, guess what I thought of?”“Get down from there! You’re going to hurt yourself.”Miku ignores you, instead shining the flashlight you gave her into your eyes. You wince. She says, “I found some string back there, and if I tie the bells with them, I can basically have them ring wherever I want! It’s creepy, like I can fake where we are.”“Yeah, well check out this weird plant monster thing I made,” you say raising up your disgusting mess. Odd branches are taped together and hidden with cloth, giving the illusion of gangling wooden arms. Half of it was already thanks to the ghillie suit from those who came before you, but it’s silhouette is completely different, changed to something much more jagged. The club advisor passes by quickly to tell that people are going to start arriving. Meanwhile, Miku slides down the tree. She says, “So you’re wearing that, right? Not me?”You reply,>”You’re probably a better actor. “Do you have some of the bells left?” you ask her.“Yeah,” she says, nodding, “Why?”“Just an idea,” you say.- - -“Wow, I’m already creeped out just by the night,” a student says, carefully following the trail. She holds a flashlight in her hands, and with it, she sweeps the path with light, trying to illuminate every hidden spot.A second student walks by her side, her eyes darting around. “Is something going to happen? We’ve been walking for a while now.”“I think it’s really far ahead. They said we’ll know when we see it, so...” the other replies.Faintly, a ringing echo cuts through the air. They both freezes, trying to make out the sound.“What was that?”“Sounded like a bell,” she says. They’re left alone once more, and as soon as they gathered the courage to continue, another bell makes itself heard, this time even closer.“L-let’s go! Come on!,” the student says, grabbing the other by the hand. They start running, and after a minute, third bell signals that they’ve past it. Panting, they stop to catch their breaths at a spot where the path widens. “Hahaha, what the heck was that? I didn’t even see anything.”Laughing, the other says, “That kinda sucked—“A bell rings by their side, and then if they were surrounded, the ringing appears all around them. Their breathing halts, and they turn to find the source of the noise. The rustling could barely be heard, but when one of them notices, the flashlight falls upon the figure as it steps onto the dirt path. Two wicked horns curve into the sky, it’s hunched body draped with leaves and branches that seemingly fused with its flesh. With the poor light, it seems as if the earth has come alive. Cloth binds its body together, and as it lifts an arm, a groaning creak becomes deafening. It takes a step forward, brass rattling and driving the two into a frenzy. They scream and run, and the monster gives chase. They don’t look back, but they know it’s getting closer from the chimes. One of them trips and falls, and the other stops in horror. They turn to see what’s chasing them, only to find nothing. Silence falls once more, and their flashlight letting them see nothing but shadows casted by tree trunks and foliage.[1/2]
>>2965461Pulling the mask off, you gasp for breath. “Holy hell, you can’t breathe with this thing on.” You say, “I’m dying in here. It’s so hot.” You tug on one of the strings that tie the bells around you. “But these are amazing.”Miku laughs, “Why did you even run after them? Did you get a kick out of spooking them?”“Hey, it’s fun,” you reply, sitting down for a rest.“I gotta admit, you did a pretty good job. I’m pretty sure everyone heard those screams,” she says, doing a weak little imitation of them. “Oh, you better get up, next pair is coming.”“Ugh, couldn’t they take their time?” you say. Squinting, you make out the two. “Hey, I know those two! It’s Daisuke and his girlfriend.”“Oh, we can scare him easy!” Miku replies, “...Should we? “I don’t know,” you start to say. Then, a couple of screams makes you stop, and you realize they came from down the path.Miku says, “It sounds like it was around Hinami and Nemuri, and they sound even more terrified than when we scared them! Ryuuta, we can’t lose this!”Glancing at your mask, you nod. “I got it.” Looking around for a couple of strong branches, you fiddle around for a bit with your outfit. “No mercy.”With a whole lot of duct tape, you manage to attach the mask top of the draping costume to the reinforced branches. You can barely see anything down here; only through the occasional gaps in the suit does light make it past. As the two start to approach, Miku runs her fingers along the strings she’s gathered. One by one, she plucks them, waiting and playing on their reactions. She says, “I’m so glad I’m not them right now. Y’know how the scariest things are things you can’t see? Like, 99% of horror is implying it.”You reply, “But you still need that 1% to finish it.” Raising the head into the air, yo say, “This is going to be one hell of a 1%.”You watch as Daisuke and Izumi start to walk faster, waiting for them to reach where the path widens. Here, you can attack them where they can see you and where they have enough room to run past you. They step onto the perfect spot, and then you burst out of hiding. Thrusting the branches in the air, your silhouette looms over them, and freeing one hand, you reach out with a bundle of branches shaped like a hand. It’s a cacophony as you see the terror in their eyes. Well, mostly Daisuke. They both run for it, zipping past you. You lumber toward them, as if giving chase, watching them get away. And then Izumi trips on the exact same spot as the girl before. You notice that the ground there was uneven, and at night, you wouldn’t be able to see the bump that would catch someone’s foot. She cries out as she falls, and Daisuke stops. He’s a few steps ahead, and when he turns around, he sees that you’re closer to Izumi than he is to her. Then his eyes go up to the mask held up by the branches, betraying the conflict inside. To choose to run, or to save Izumi, he ponders.Your arms grow tired, wobbling as the branches begin to fall forward. To balance yourself, you take a sudden step forward, which was all that was needed to send Daisuke bolting away.Izumi has a shocked expression mixed with a bit of fear. She picks herself up quickly and takes off, leaving you shambling vaguely in their direction. And then you lower the suit.Miku runs up to you, laughing. “Oh my god, I can’t believe he just left her like that. Ryuuta, how could you do that to them?”You watch as Izumi disappears down the trail.>”That was all on him, not me.”>”I’ll, uh, apologize to him later.”>”That’s a weird way of saying ‘Good job’.”>”Oops, I overdid it.”>Write-in.

It’s like, one-thirds my fault, maybe.”“Has anyone ever told you that you’re a terrible influence?” you say, “Well, I’ll, uh, apologize to them later,” you say, “I’ll write two-thirds of the apology and then you do the rest. Fair?”“Fair,” she replies, “I’ll be right behind you giving you emotional support.”“Or I can give the emotional support, and you act like the club president and take responsibility.”Miku gives you an exaggerated look of shock. “I can’t believe you pulled out that card.” Then, she adds, “But it was still all on you, so I’ll delegate the apology to you.”“You are the worst club president I’ve ever seen,” you reply, “I’m staging a coup.”“Shh!” she suddenly says, “Another group is coming.”You stand by her, peeking. “It’s Aya.”“Oh, it is,” she says.Terrible thoughts arise.>”Whatever we just did to Diasuke, let’s do that again, but better.”>”Let’s do this.”>”Let’s switch places. Though it looks like Aya’s with her classmate, it looks more like she’s her upperclassman with the way the other girl is standing behind her. These two, however, cautious make their way to the spot where they plan to strike, walking on their toes as if they were sneaking nervously. With the branches and the mask ready, you brace yourself, and then, timing it perfectly, you leap out with a running start, practically landing before them. They cry out in surprise as they quickly back away.Aya says, “W-what the—?!”Aya tries to step around you, but you counter by taking a wide step in that direction. The cloak sways in the wind, and the bells all shake. You’re at a standstill. She reaches into her back pocket and the other girl grabs her arm and pleads, “No, you can’t use the pepper spray!”“Damn it all!” Aya cries out.You reach forward with a branchy arm, and they back off, shouting. The other girl whimpers, “Back off!”Aya, glancing back at the girl, says, “Go left, I’ll go right! The other girl’s less likely to try something, so you chase after Aya. Doing your best to run with your arms lifting the costume over your head, you run after her. Aya, trying to slip past you, fails as you side step at the last second and cut her off. She sees that behind you, the other girl’s already made it past.Though she’s nervous, she tries to hide it, and in an awkward delinquent voice, she says, “Y-ya pickin’ a fight with me, ya bastard?”A snort almost comes out, but you force it back down before you ruin the mood. Instead, you reply by jingling the bells. You try the same trick with the branch hand again, but this time you use your other arm. In response, she jumps back and raises her flashlight, tries to blind you with it. She, unfortunately, targets the mask which is lifted into the air with the branches. Needless to say, you’re still half blind with the ghillie suit in the way.Taking your awkward shifting as flinching, she turns on her heel and runs to the side, trying to get around you. You’re too slow, and she slips past. But, you don’t leave it at that; you’re right behind her, and she cries out, “G-get away!” She glances down, and suddenly jumps for some odd reason. That reason doesn’t come to you until you hit it with your foot and trip over it— you manage to miss the bump in the road that everyone else missed too. You’re going to fall.>Grab Aya!>No, wait, tackle her.>Fall gracefully.>Write-in.

Out of panic, you reach out and grab Aya, who yelps as you drag her down with you. You hit the ground roughly, everything seemingly tangled around you. When you try to get up, you find it impossible as you’re pushing against the ghillie suit. Without any idea of which way is what, you start to turn and twist, trying to get out. Finally, you free yourself, gasping for a breath of fresh air.You look at Aya, who is staring at you while patting off dirt. If looks could kill, you’d be thrice dead by now. You say, “My bad, I didn’t mean to do that.”She raises her flashlight and shines it in your eyes, and though you move your head and try to block the way, she follows and does her best to blind you.Miku runs out to the two of you. “Are you two okay?! Is anyone hurt?”Aya flatly replies, “A couple of scrapes, that’s all. That I could’ve went without if he didn’t decide to take me down with him.”“Sorry!” you repeat, “I almost suffocated there, so it’s not like I got out of it so easily.”“I didn’t know you had the courage to attack me in public. I guess you really do learn something new every day.”“Hey, I didn’t actually attack you!”Miku, stepping in, helps pick Aya up. “Sorry about that, Aya. I’m glad you’re not hurt.”“Relax,” she replies, her expression softening, “You didn’t do anything. And that was actually amazing. If it weren’t for a certain someone.”“Haha,” Miku awkwardly laughs, “Wouldn’t be much without a demon.”“Oh yeah, he’s definitely a demon alright.”“Okay, that’s enough,” Miku says, “We need to prepare for the next pair. You’ll be fine, right?”With a nod, Aya waves a farewell before leaving. When Miku turns around, she finds you dusting off the suit.“I’m taking a break,” you say, “I’ll leave you to do bell duty.”“Hey Ryuuta, is it me, or have you gotten bolder?” Miku asks.“Oh, shut it.”[1/2]

“Where did you last see her? We can start from there.”She hesitates when you say that, but she says, “Over there, where the trail bends.”Rustling leaves cause you to turn your head, and you find a blindingly bright flashlight turning away and the club advisor holding it. “Hey, the test of courage is over. Someone got lost—Aya? Don’t go wandering around okay?”Miku looks as if she wants to say something, but you quickly reply, “Sure. We’ll just put everything back real quick.” He nods, and then gives everyone one last look before heading back. Turning to the other two, you say, “Alright, guess we need to hurry before they get suspicious.”Aya nods, leading the way. “Come on, it’s this way.”As you’re following, you tell her, “Hey, I just wanna say sorry again. This wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t...”“I know,” she replies, “I should’ve known by now being anywhere around you means something terrible is going to happen. You’re like a magnet for bad luck, you know that?”Miku, curious, asks, “What’s this about?”You reply, “Just Aya blaming everything on me, the usual.”“Uh... huh,” she says, choosing to leave it at that. With all three of you having flashlights, the forest shadows part with ease, but as hard as you might look, you don’t see any footprints. You wouldn’t know what to look for in the first place. But off to the side, you spot a narrow length of earth where there’s no grass, and in the dark, you suppose that it could be mistaken as part of the path when you can barely see. You choose to follow it.Aya shouts, “Kaede, where are you?”You and Miku join her in calling her name, though after a few minutes, you find what little hope you had disappearing.“How far could she have even go—“ You’re cut short as your foot comes down and touches only air. “I’m going down,” you say.“Huh?” Miku exclaims, “It’s so far down!”“It’s barely anything,” you reply, pulling off your suit and reaching inside.Frowning, Aya asks, “I’m guessing you got an idea?”“Obviously,” you reply, pulling out the half-used roll of duct tape. With it, you encircle a thick tree that’s firmly rooted into the ground. Handing Miku one end, you pull the tape far enough so that you can double back on it and still have it reach the ground below. Using your makeshift rope, you start to climb down.“Be careful!” Miku tells you as you find footing. With the duct tape bearing your weight, you slowly manage to make your way down, and once you’ve touched the ground, you see Aya preparing to do the same.Seeing this, Miku tries to stop her. “You’re going down too?”“Can you get someone?” Aya asks, and without hearing her answer, “Thanks, Miku.” Though a bit hesitant, she descends faster than you, dropping down quickly. You crouch down by the unconscious girl, unnerved. “I think she just hit her head, but the bleeding’s stopped.”With a sigh of relief, Aya says, “Thank god. She’ll be okay, right?”You don’t know. “I hope so,” you reply. “I don’t think I’m going to try getting her back up.”“It’s fine,” she says, “I just wanted to make sure she was okay.”You sit down on a rock, somewhat glad that it didn’t end up worse than it is. Quiet, you ask, “Is she your classmate?”“Just a friend,” Aya replies, matching your volume. As the night seem to grow even darker with every passing second, you point your flashlight away to the ground, content with waiting. You say, “I shouldn’t have done that back then. Farther than minutes ago, past days, months, into years.A moment elapses, and you answer, “Because I don’t have anything to be sorry for.”She takes a deep breath. “Well you should be.”“And I’m not,” you reply, “I thought you didn’t want to talk about this.”“I don’t.” And like that, the conversation is shut down. You can’t fake analog, right?”You eyed her suspiciously. “If you say that, that actually means you can fake it.”“Ahaha,” she said, blushing, “Maybe a little. My mom taught me how. Look at what I can make with it!” She took back the photograph from your hands, staring at it in fascination.“Wow, you can make anything, huh?”She gave you a wide grin. “It looks so real, doesn’t it? I bet you thought it was real. It took me forever to make it.”“A little, but it was weird! I knew something was off.”“I know, I’m not stupid. I bet you wouldn’t have noticed if I did something more subtle.”“Huh?”“What do you think? Can I fool someone like this?” she said, eager, “I bet I can get back at her with this. I have the perfect idea. She’ll know it’s me if I fake something about her, but I can get her parents! Since she trashed my last camera, this would be ironic, right?”“Wait... what are you thinking?” you asked, suspicious.“I don’t know,” she replied, shrugging. And then, genuinely asking you, “What’s the nastiest thing you can think of?”[Chapter 6: “I’ll Do It All The Same.” - End]

Anons seem to fail every interaction with Aya, every time.
>>2966971Even though I had to sleep through most of this run, I hand fun reading it. Thanks for running!
>>2966971This was really fun, QM.Elder god of the forest was great. Wonder how the other two managed to do in their side of the forest. Also, flaaash back~ >>2966979I wouldn't call it failing. Just steadily breaking through the years of bad blood between the two.
>>2966971thanks for running
>>2966991Falling on your face in front of her and scraping her with branches is not breaking through any bad blood.
>>2967000True, but it does open up further avenues of dialog and more information on their shared past. That last bit is pretty important to getting over whatever hang up is between Ryuuta and Aya.
>>2966971Thanks for running, man.
>>2967000She was probably bleeding a bit after she fell.
>>2966971Ahhh truly best girlAnyways thanks for running, great session today!
>>2966971Thanks for running! Had fun reading as always.
OP, do you draw all the art for the quest?
>>2974060I love the style! You draw for any other quests or comics or something?
>>2975027IkrYou can look for Psion Academy Quest on suptg. There are others, shorter ones, but I can't remember the precise names to search.Which is a shame, because one of them even had animation.
I hope this is my trip code.>>2975027Thank you! I've run a couple of other quests. If you're interested, here's a list of them:pastebin.com/G3fHEyYLI did try drawing a webcomic a couple of times, but I could never gather the willpower to continue after the first few pages. I mostly just stick to illustrations, but I'll never my art blog here.>>2975087It's pinned on my twitter! It's right there!
>>2975185All I can see pinned on your Twitter is poor Akyu. How could you do this to her!
>>2975185Everything you draw is lovely, even your little doodle at the top!
