Last time we voted to held Samir with their Beastmen problem.

You set out from Loslina with great fanfare, the King has gathered five hundred brave souls to help Samir put down the bestial savages that threaten their city. Ship holds are packed, weapons are prepared and the Stormseer predicts smooth sailing.

It takes near three weeks to travel from Loslina to Samir but the most feel the travel was worth it. The City of Samir is unlike anything the Lightwatchers had seen surrounded by massive white stone walls alongside a harbour that bustled with activity as it seems ships from every nation on the Wine-Dark sea had gathered here. The port bustled with life as frantic Copalians shouted at laid back Olazi while Samirese attempt to keep them all in check.

You are greeted by a well dressed diplomat who informs you there will be a gathering of the armies tonight but he invites you explore the city in the meanwhile!

Freeroam time! Please roll 1d100 along with an action that you would like to do whilst in the Great City of Samir.

It seems the Beastmen first started raiding into Samir about ten years ago and have been a constant pain in their side. Most times they are just small parties that attack some farms but this new horde is the largest army ever seen in this part of the world.

While trying to steal some dogs you get horrifically beaten by a group of men and only intervention from the King saves your life. It seems they really like their dogs here.

The men of Samir have little in way of husbandry, it is something them view as savage and primitive importing most of their meat from Olaz and Merli. It seems in recent years however they have had a influx of Oxen from Loslina which are slowly becoming more prevalent in the region.

>>2988623
The Smiths of Samir are much like your own but are controlled by the State. They are less prone to ornamentation then your own works but are only slightly worse in quality. The Smiths working however do show you some strange metal, they call it Iron, it is what the Beastmen are armed with and it is several times stronger then bronze.

The First Citizen of Samir, Ageta Agossos, takes the central position as he thanks you all for coming to Samirs aid in this trying time. The Beastmen hordes shall be on the city within a day and plans for the defense of the city must be made. He spends several hours talking about their tactics and leaders before setting out a baseline plan to have each army defend a portion of wall against a horde. The commanders of these hordes do not communicate so it should be easy to defend from a single one. Since you have the smallest force you are asked which wall do you think you should reinforce.

A. Fight with First Citizen Ageta Agossos against Urathgor the Godbreaker
B. Fight with Chieftain Titus Acue against the Broken Lord
C. Fight with King Arden Emberward against Cantos Kinslayer

It has been decided that you shall join the Olazi in defending against the Broken Lord. Their Chieftain seems offended by this but both King Arden and the First Citizen agree it is a prudent. With that the meeting is broken, bottles of wine are handed out amongst the men for this is the last chance to relax some may ever see.

It is early morning when you take your positions on the wall, apparently the Beastmen moved in under cover of night using primitive canoes or using their inhuman strength to swim across the river. The Host of the Broken Lord has taken up a position on a small hill just outside the city, they seem to be preparing to assault the city soon!

What shall be your plan to defend this wall? There is a single large gatehouse at the center of your position.

A plan is decided on as roar is heard from outside the walls, it seems about half of the Beastmen horde is charging towards the gatehouse while the other half remains on the hill with bows. The ridiculous notion that they can't hit the anything from there is quickly destroyed as the first arrows whistle the air smashing through the breastplate of an Olazi spearmen and throwing him off the wall!

The walls have become a slaughterhouse, the ramparts a slick with blood and gore from the slaughtered archers. The Olazi have completely abandoned the walls with only about a hundred of the most stubborn Lightwatchers remaining. It seems nothing can stop the Beastmen Horde as they begin to pound away on the gate door.

A runner is quickly dispatched to inform the other armies that the gate is breached. It is with a resounding crash that is burst open spilling forth a swarm of unrelenting beastmen. Using his position Pholus charges the Broken Lord madly screaming as he lets out savage blow after savage which the beastman easily sweeps aside. This however gives Solomon who lies bleeding in the dirt a chance to drive his sword into the Broken Lords foot pinning him to the ground. The Beastmen lets out a horrible scream which instills dread in all who hear it! With this Gebal summons his courage and dashs forward his sword plunging into the Beastmans back piercing through it's foul heart!

The defenders stand in shocked silence as the Broken Lord slumps to the ground for but a second before erupting into cheers! With their leader defeated the Beastmen begin to quickly route! The day is yours but at what cost?

As Gebal's body is returned to Ruby islands so do come the stories of him slaying the great beastman warlord. The members of the Ruby Commune decided to let him rest in the ocean and had sailed out to the sea after which they lowered his body down into his depths. The whole of Ruby island was invited to witness the ceremony and hear tales of his heroic deed. After the ceremony was done, members of the Ruby Commune gathered and elected a new leader from among themselves, an old companion of Gebal and one of the founding members of the Commune, Balzer, was elected.

In the last year advancements have been in the preservation of food. People have learned that along with drying you can both salt and smoke meat to make them last longer. So called Smokehouses have begun to pop up in almost every village allowing meat to be smoked in large quantities. Salting of fish and game has allowed for even greater transportation of food as merchants can now sell food from Loslina in the grand markets of Samir

Twenty sinners are thrown off the great cliff into the deeps as you pray for guidance from Galoris. For the next three weeks the waters around Loslina shimmer with colours of all kind as the priests spend near every waking hour transcribing what she wishes to tell you. Eventually the colours do die down and the Priests present the populace with the guidance the Goddess has gifted. The first information is on the Beastmen, the foul creatures are created when men get lost in Everwood. They become twisted by the foulness of the Everwood to represent it’s unending rage towards mankind. She suggest you do not expand near it and limit how much you trade with Samir for they are sure to be corrupted by being near it.

With this she then wishes to tell you about magic, very few men in this world can use magic but she believes few in Loslina can. She states that for men by consuming a shard of ruby they will spout fire if they can use magic and for women if they consume a shard of sapphire will be able to move water for short time. After this awakening they can then begin to learn magic and manipulate the elements. Men can use fire and wind while women can use water and earth. She says to also be careful of false gods who offer the ability to use magic, they seek only to control you.

There is a great festival held in Loslina as the King of Copal has agreed to wed one of his daughters to the young son of our King. The Copal are an odd people who wear much more clothes then you due to their island being colder, the trade of Copper and lumber has been good to them as their wealth is only slightly less than yours. It seems the Copalians are very interested in improving relations due to the increase of Samir authority over the Wine-Dark Sea, they see you as a natural ally against this aggression.

They however do worship a fire god named Balatzar the Everburning who they say gifted mankind with his fire and inspired the creation of Bronze. He grants some men the power to see at night and the greatest warriors such as the King can consume embers to increase their strength.

You set about holding a massive testing where every man within your Kingdom eats a small shard of ruby. Out of the entire population only seven men show the ability to breath fire! After that those men show the ability to manipulate open flames and even create flames from their own energy. However it is found out quickly a man can expend so much energy with magic it can kill them.

In other news a man named Larth Acue has arrived in Loslina, he says he is the younger brother of the current Olaz Chieftain. He claims that his brother has become very sick and plans to leave Olaz in the hands of Samir as his final will. Larth wishes for you and the Copal to help him throw the Samir off his island and reclaim Olazs dignity.

Emphasize the need for unity in the face of such a threat from the Everwood.

The farms of the Kingdom are able to import a new crop from the Copal, this “Carrot” is long and orange. People enjoy the added variety to their diet and it helps boost morale. Also the idea forms that fields that were once used as animal pastures were providing more yields leading many to figure out that animal dung helps plants grow better thus the use of dung fertilizer has become popular.

With the threat of war with Samir racing through the nation the King and Council realized how woefully inadequate the ships of their navy was. Thus a surge of shipbuilding innovation swept across the nation as ships of larger size and swift speed were produced. This new ship had 50-Oars and a large woolen sail which could catch the winds moving it swiftly across the waves.

Children are the first to come over to the ideas and the presence of gentle angelsharks in the water win over their curiosity. Everything is going smoothly with the Priests confident that in a few years all of the island will see the Light of Galoris. However this optimism was not to last….

>>2990074
Lord Samudh however was not happy with this progress, one day whilst in his keeps he ordered that every single non-believer be rounded up in the village square. One by one he had the men impaled on stakes for all to see. The spectacle was said to last for hours as the Lord watched each man scream and squirm as the wooden stake was forced through their flesh from bottom to top. The women and children who had just been forced to watch this spectacle were sent to work the mines till they die, the only fitting work for filthy non-believers. Those that watched this spectacle speak of the isle no longer as Ruby Island but as the Scarlet Isle for it is watered with both blood and rubies.
>>
>>2990079
You spend a great deal of time making friends with the savages by hunting with them, feasting with them and overall perfecting your skills. You find out quickly after the atrocity of Lord Samudh is committed and many of the savages look for your leadership in this time. They see you as the only one that cares about them and their culture. They have begun to hide within the woods from the Scarlet Lord leaving almost half the island in your control.

>>2990105
It seems your connection to the House Agossos has lead to you becoming the premier wine trader with you being able to acquire lower prices then any others on Loslina. Your brother in law even gifts you a manor within the walls of Samir and often invites you to attend feasts in the great city.

>>2990833
Tev continue his work with training Angelsharks with his broods being more well trained than any others in Loslina.

>>2991954
Several of Hasbrudal’s colleagues chid him for being so small sighted, why simply expand their trade fleet when they could actually invest in being the ones to make new ships! With a large investment of coin and the support of the King the town of Haswod is founded on Boar Island based around the sole industry of transforming the thick forests of the island into ships. Workers and traders flood into the new town making it quickly the second biggest settlement of the Lightwatchers. With this great success the King has decided to name you the Lord of Boar Island. Both your wealth and fleet has expanded with many regarding you as the largest authority in manners of trade.

Welcome back to Everwood Civ! Last time we decided to conduct some diplomacy with the people of Merli, what will this diplomacy entail and what do you wish to get from them?

>Begin sending missionaries to the Merli people to have the learn the word of Galoris. Focus on scouting for ambitious but incompetent men among them that we could use as a puppet to control the isle.
However see if we can try and get some new trade agreements with them too and have the missionaries be something we add as a part of the deal not the focus of it.

Open trade with them.
also have a priest tag along to introduce them to our religion to help make good connections with them.

The effect of your missionaries is lackluster to say the least, due to the rather simple nature of your Priesthood few are actually trained to do such a thing and the Merli don’t see much point in worshiping a sea goddess when most of them farm or herd. They also find intense competition with the Priests of Samir who worship a pantheon of three Gods, Crel and Dissus the twin snake god of war and honour along with Itil the robin god of wine.

In other news the King has decided the Savages of the Scarlet Isle shall be moved to create another settlement on the Merli Island so to remove the chance of civil strife.

By order of King and Council a grand fleet of twelve new 50-Oar ships are constructed to replace the old tiny ships which currently make up your navy. Some people think this is too rushed as these ships vary little from the merchant variety but this in no way impedes construction.

In other news it seems Samir is waging war on some strange northern kingdom for unknown reasons.

Make is so that the Inner Circle is recognized as the main religious authority of the Lightwatchers with the Stormseer as their head(can latter become a hereditary tittle). Their main job besides guarding the tablet of translation and tending to the Temple to Galoris will be to teach the younger priests and establish what skills one would need to officially be recognized as priests to Galoris. They would need to know how to write and be able to spread the word of Galoris. Those that will be sent to other islands to spread the religion will have to learn the language of the people there and be know at least something about the culture of the place they are being sent to.

This has been a massive year for the Temple of Galoris. It started ominously with the First Stormseer dying for which twelve days of mourning were set before returning his body to the sea. It was then revealed that Balzer of the Ruby Commune had been chosen to shed his name and inherit the Eyes of the Clairvoyance becoming the Second Stormseer. He quickly set about reforming the Temple making the Inner Circle an established institution which oversees the training of new priests, transcribing their knowledge of Galoris on tablets and spreading her word. This change in the Temple has granted it greater legitimacy among other peoples and nations.

You have been quick to adopt a Samir invention, the Ram. This is a wooden or bronze piece that is fitted on the front of ships allowing them to smash into each other inflicting catastrophic damage. With this you will be able to properly engage in naval warfare with whomever you choose.

In other news it seems that Samir has been victorious in their war and have gained possession of a Gold mine from which they are exporting new golden coins.

In Year 23, Samudh Shinebringer passed, complaining of stomach pains before he went. With the natives removed, much of what had troubled him had vanished, but still, he was as irritable as ever. Some wondered whether he wanted more of the savages on stakes before he went, while others just believed that he was a man who would be corrupted the moment he got any sort of power.

Regardless, it fell on his son, Berut Shinebringer, to take up the mantle of the Lord of Ruby Island. With the threat on the title gone, he felt sure he could practice something else instead; trading. With the ruby mines still overflowing, the young lord wishes to profit from this endeavor. However, he is also building a small stockpile for himself... for Berut is not just a lord, but a mage.

After the sacrifice happens there are no lights from Galoris and within a week a massive storms rips across the island destroying farms, houses and boats. Many say that Galoris is angry with asking for guidance and not giving her more sacrifices!

Smithing has always been a speciality of Loslina since the time of the very first King. A practice being spread among the richest of smiths is the hiring of the few mages that exist to force the heat of the forge beyond anything thought possible. On the more normal side of smithing various advancements in the construction of forges with more concern to air flow has lead to smiths being hotter allowing for faster work and more pure ingots.

The militia has begun to practice taking out the navy alongside some Angelsharks to practice military maneuvers and techniques. The Angelsharks are very intelligent and strong making them perfect beasts of war that can work in tandem with men trying to board ships by destroying oars and rudders with ease. It is in the spring of this year that the oldest of the Angelsharks finally passed away with his bones being placed within the Temple of Galoris

While the missionaries see slightly more progress this year they are almost completely outclassed by the Priests of Samir who can use the magic of their gods. The angel sharks they bring however manage to impress the coastal Merli greatly giving you influence over the coastal trade village.

Near the end of the year King Betzalel passes anyway in the night after a massive amount of drinking. His son Aiken is will inherit the crown becoming King Aiken of the Lightwatchers. If anyone wishes to object to his claim now would be the time.

Lastly the King of Copal has come to ask for aid in pursuing his war against a people he calls the Goti which have raided his territory in the past
