There's trouble brewing, and only those who are tasked with curating the Dreamscape may save the night. Who will cull the nightmares who disturb the peaceful slumber? The veil embraces any who wish to try their hand, but it is the Abyss that will judge worth. Step forth, Dream Catcher, and prove yourself.

Dream Catchers is a collaborative skirmish game where players take control of their own personal character. Mend and defend the weary hearts and minds of those in slumber, and fight until dawn. Be it nightmares or anxieties which ails them, find the source of trouble and exorcise it before the dreamer awakens. Successful exorcisms results in healing the dreamscape, and by proxy improves the player characters themselves.

Here's how you make a character and a quick summary of how the game is played. While movement and facing are cardinal (no diagonals) attacks and spellcasting in general will allow for diagonals to be used. Standard Melee range is also defined as all eight adjacent tiles surrounding the character, and facing is the three tiles in front of them.

An important thing to note would be how one avoids the death of oneself and comrades. This sheet covers such information. Remember that you are not required to >Struggle, and may use your actions at half effect or potency, except with move actions which are reduced to 1 Mov.

It is worth noting that if a skill that deals damage as an AoE it will hit all things which occupy its tiles. Only time this is not the case is if it is with a flying target and there is another available target below. Whichever target the ability is aimed at will determine if the AoE hits all flying or non-flying available targets in it's area of effect.

A scent of dried fruits and spices fills the air, as diminutive embers gnaw upon the ends of spindly sticks poking up from ceramic decor, propped in place with many smooth pebbles. As the host seats themselves behind a barrel covered with a thin cloth embroidered with a familiar design they motion for the party to find comfort among a room furnished with but seven seats arranged as if an audience to the host and barrel.

Which seat will each party member take?

Once resting on the cushion vision fades as one drifts off to the slumbering realms. Nothing but warmth upon ones back and the scent of a cool breeze wafts over nostril and belly, until a disturbance is heard off in the distance. It begins as a chime of metal upon metal, followed by muffled shouts and cries as the sound begins to stampede across the senses. A sharp awakening forces one to sit upright in a field tended low to ankle, invaded by warring individuals wielding an arsenal menagerie and clad in vibrant shining armor. Darkness stains each involved being, baring forth a scent of harm and death. One rises to their feet from their slumber, seeing a mere humble blade of mundane quality in hand with an equally base shield covering the arm opposite, though barely able to reach elbow to wrist. Examining oneself, they find steel protection guarding solely their chest and striking shoulder, with the remainder is covered with textile and leather alone. One takes a step forth and into the fight, blade raised and shield braced as they crash into an invader.

Once resting on the weave vision fades as one drifts off to the slumbering realms. Distant birds chirp overhead as a gentle gust of wind dances between leaves hanging high above one. A distant crack almost as if thunder wracks the serene glade one finds themselves awake within, witnessing a swarm of fauna taking off away from the cause of the disturbance. One rises to their feet, patting down their tunic and testing the grip of their fur covers before noticing the bow resting next to the grass bedding they were resting upon. Gripping the arc in hand, they lift it to observe for signs of warping or damage. Meeting their standards, one ventures into the underbrush of the tall reaching trees in order to investigate the point of origin regarding the ruckus. With fleet steps and keen senses, one happens upon what appears to be a large beast breathing its last as beings with long, spindly arms and fingers gouge internals from the creature. Bare teeth stained dark from the vitae of the victim bite into the fruits of effort, though without tact or grace regarding the still dying creature succumbing to its demise in the grass before them. One takes to tree bark, climbing up to a branch with little attention drawn to themselves as the predators feast. An arrow knocked on one's string causes no disturbance to the event, and it is only when the fletching whistles mid-flight is when one of the assailants finds the motivation to turn attention away from the meal only to find their own demise delivered into their skull.

Once resting on the stone seat vision fades as one drifts off to the slumbering realms. A gentle rise and lowering of static emanates from nearby as distant cries of seabirds fly from the horizon. Minutes, perhaps hours or even days pass by with the only inconsistency being a tepid gale cascading over grass to add a sense of breath to pair the lethargic heartbeat. A distant bell rings loud and boisterous over ones resting place atop a field facing sapphire waves cresting with pearls crashing upon an ivory shoreline. With such an interruption, one lifts themselves from the bluff they took refuge atop to peer across the hills towards a short tower bellowing obnoxiously. One notices black ash rising from the hillside opposite of the structure, and takes flight towards the building out of desperation. Driftwood and storm remnant stonework makes an easy path to the housing, though one halts when reaching the apex of the final hill overlooking the cobbled edifice with low baring walls as fortification for wandering more so than conflict. Nearby tall grass has found itself beset with a bright amalgam devouring both stock and grain akin to locusts on the wind, with a handful of shadowed figures partially illuminated by the rampant element placed on the road leading off through the hills. Before them, four-legged beasts baring three pairs of glistening eyes dart back and forth between small hovels protected within the short walls, each time forcing a scream of terror or pain to fly from the roof. One sees their teacher and mentor splayed across the gateway with their face buried into the dirt as their robes gather from the black stain attempting to spread out and away from its host.

The party awakens simultaneously, each with a jolt as their consciousness readjusts to themselves. Finding themselves in a room vacant save a shattered barrel and rubble, they collect themselves before venturing back to the landing. Each speaks of their experience, and perhaps one or more gazed back upon the ruined building with the feeling they recognize the being who lead them in inside.

Given your level in [C]leric (everyone is technically lv 0 so you'd be set at 1) you automatically will know [Dream Ward]. However, being your active class is [W]izard, you will only be able to place a ward as an action via [Dream Writing]. You'll also be unable to place a ward in a tile affected by a spell you've cast as a Wizard, but may still cast through wards you or any ally has placed so long as they are within Vis range as per the norm.

A light flares in the distance, and the party finds itself in view of their landing. Lit by a vigilant post, the catchers can see signs of a winter realm before them, with grass of a much more appealing kept length. Time slows to a crawl upon entering the realm, and a sheet of frost lays across the abyss much to the chagrin of denizens imprisoned beneath. One of the party perks up to observe their surroundings, though dismisses the thought they heard something in the distance as nerves due to the realm before them. Whatever caused this realm to grind to a halt must be exceedingly powerful, but the source would dare not stray so close to the surface... would it?

As a note: Grass is no longer difficult terrain and does not hinder line of sight. It can still be gathered/reaped for one grain though. The party enters in a flurry of action, though some find unintended effects taking place due to a lack of observation. An explosive strike sends an ally skyward and reeling, the unexpected attack putting them into a fatal state. A warp takes the accidental assailant along for the ride as well, with coordinates placing their feet on the cold, clear ice. Local denizens are spotted, each playing the same note out of sync with one another. Amid the cacophony, there still resonates a semblance of peace.

Once again, you shot SE in the prior turn. An aimless OW defaults to facing direction, or target direction if an attack is made. There were two enemies in that area, so because there was no direction stated for the OW it triggered when your facing direction (to attack) was stated as SE. Only instances an OW would not rely on facing is if there is no basis for direction, such as on a [Flare] or an [Aura] effect. Also if you can, please delete errant posts.
