File: ruggedRoom.jpg (117 KB, 850x460)

This is going to be a different style of quest for me, but I hope that my quality improves with this new method. This quest takes place in the same multiverse that "Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken" does. That for non-weebs was "The Time I Reincarnated as a Slime". I hope you enjoy the work that I've made.

~~~
The day started off as dreary as it always was, the curtains of your room, shut firmly as though to keep the contents of your abode a secret to prying eyes. You had sat there in the grim darkness, illuminated by only a monitor, the light a slight beacon of hope to your dreary existence. You don't even remember how long you've sat and stared at these four walls, surrounded in your own filth, with no-one to keep your company except the people of the internet who you were sure led much more fulfilling lives than you.
What happened next came so suddenly, the walls began to shake and shiver, the tremors beneath your feet rocking you to your very core, and the shelves of your belongings swaying as though they were branches in a storm.
You had managed to turn your body before you saw the grey streak of a bookshelf falling away from you, it was only a moment before the floor fell from beneath you. What came after that was a blur, but the one thing you do remember was the agonizing hours you spent, alone, in the dark. Your body was broken and battered, half pinned under the rubble.
You called and you called, and you called, and you called. However, no one came. You kept calling for someone, anyone, though to come and save you, your voice grew ever hoarse. The cold began to seep in, the loneliness of your existence was catching up to you. Oh, how you regret the decisions that you have made, oh you wished things could have changed. You thought to yourself, Most of all, I wish I had someone who needed me.
「CONFIRMATION COMPLETE. CREATING A BODY THAT REQUIRES A PARTNER.」
Eh? What was that? A steely voice echoed through your ears, it's tone was monotonous and indifferent, without emotion, as though someone used some software to create a voice.
Haha, suppose the blood loss was getting to you, that sucks...
「CONFIRMATION COMPLETE. CREATING A BODY THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE BLOOD.」
(1/2)
>>
You figure this was going to happen more often again...
You do your best to ignore the voice and reflect a little more on your life. You swore that you would try to talk to others, and let them help you, instead of being so goddamned obstinate. You remember how you pushed away all of your family by falling under the notion of some so-called "Self Sufficiency". How foolish.
「CONFIRMATION COMPLETE. ACQUIRED SKILL 『Parasite』.」
Haha. You suppose it could be called that. Though you hoped otherwise.
You wanted to fit in more too, you never kept up with anyone and their hobbies, and just having someone to share things with would have been nice.
「CONFIRMATION COMPLETE. ACQUIRED SKILL 『Assimilate』.」
「CONFIRMATION COMPLETE. ACQUIRED SKILL 『Link』.」
「CONFIRMATION COMPLETE. 『Assimilate』 AND ADDITIONAL SKILL 『Link』 HAVE BEEN COMBINED AND HAVE DISSAPEARED.」
「CONFIRMATION COMPLETE. LEARNED SKILL 『Symbiosis』.」
Haha, looks like your hallucination's getting a bit uppity, you think to yourself as the metallic voice rang through your ears. It was a shame though, that you didn't get to see the sun one last time before you died. However, as you though that, dust began to shake and cracks began to form in the rubble from above. The light poured in and as though celebrating your life, baths you in a baptism of light. Voices ring out.
"Hey! There's a survivor! Hurry up!"
Haha, so they were looking for you. How comforting. The sunlight is warm, and you feel so sleepy. You take a moment to look at the blue sky, with its wisps of clouds and birds cawing as they soared through the air. The fresh air blowing the stale that you've been breathing away. You hand stretches out towards the sky before falling to the earth again. The last vestiges of your consciousness fade as you slowly fade into oblivion.
You blink as information begins to trickle in. Or did you blink? You can't be sure, but you can in a way since your surroundings. Your body hugs the ground in a thick mass sluggishly drags itself from point to point. You approximate yourself to be about a meter long, consisting of this thick liquid with the viscosity of honey. The ground is rocky with little patches of lichen and grass decorating it,
You're a slime! You can't move very fast, but your body hugs the floor and you can still move! You don't have any eyes and as such cannot see, but your liquid body can see to sense things! Though, you have to be in contact with the said object or person first. You're on some kind of rocky surface, but most importantly you're alive!
You figure you should probably get your bearings first, and start to slug your way around.
It's slow going and such. Your body moves a little by little. You body feels warm. Must be the sun. Ah, warmth is gone. Sun must have set.
It takes three whole days for you to move a six feet, but you've managed. In an attempt to retain your sanity from this slow monotonous movement you slow your thought processes down to a crawl. Your mind and body have become like slugs, wandering to and fro between the roles of scavenger and decomposer. It takes what feels like eons to travel, your mind making intricate maps of the rocky floor around you.
「CONFIRMATION COMPLETE. ACQUIRED SKILL 『Slowed Time Perception』.」
Suddenly time begins to shift faster, or at least it feels like it. Your body now moves much faster and with more ease as you feel like you're gliding on the gravel. You slosh around with reckless abandon with your new freedom. You taking a daring slop around the far side of a rock that seems to go straight down. Your body shifts a little off the rock and you start to feel it slip and it takes all your effort to not fall off as you feel a little bit of your mass disappears into an unknown void. You wish you could see where it went but you cannot.
You start to feel as though that's a cliff.
You roam around some more before realizing that there's no way down. This is a mesa. You're not sure if your body is safe enough to withstand the trauma of falling off a cliff. There's nothing here except a dead shrub, and patches of grass and lichen. The ground is made of broken gravel and patches of dirt.
A trickle of rain pours on you for a couple minutes before it's gone again. It was half a second but you think you felt a thump.
You've explored this area pretty well and have a basic 3D mental map of it.
You navigate the rock face with ease and knowledge. The rocks shift and shake as your body passes over them. Your goo-like flesh flows over the terrain oozing and ebbing like some sort of liquid monstrosity, which granted, you kind of are. As you move, you find that focusing on moving one part the most seems to be the fastest and you crawl along like a streak upon the ground, a black tendril that whips and wanes, only you just glide along like a slug rather than whipping.
With time you make your way to where you think the thump originated, however, you find nothing there, finding only rocks and sand. But, you know these rocks, they're different somehow, a little slicker perhaps. It seems to form a trail that you follow and with a little searching around you find the source of the thump. You crawl around it, making note of its dimensions, which are similar to your, albeit much girthier. It's still and cold despite being surrounded by a mat of fur. There seem to be holes in it at some places.
After you've felt it over you try to imagine what it was. It had four legs, each adorned with a little hoof at the end of it. It had locks of hair that ran down from its heads. The heads were the strange part, for there were two heads on this beast. The chest was rather wide, to accommodate the two heads. The flesh was rather crumbly and the hairs seemed to flake away at your touch.
However, as you keep examining, something happens.
You feel something churning inside you that you actually haven't felt since you came here, hunger. Your body begins to shiver and shake, tremors erupting throughout every facet of your being.
The primal sensation rips through you like wildfire, the thought consuming your every pore.
EAT. EAT. EAT. EAT. EAT. EAT. EAT.
You must eat something. But what?
Your voracious hunger drives you to consume the thing, the flesh begins to crumble even faster in your grasp as tear into the thing. The bones are torn from the softer flesh as you eat through the flesh. Even without a jaw, your actions can only be describe as gnawing and biting. Fibers of tissue get torn apart as you pull them to eat.
You leave not a crumb behind as you envelope the thing. When you finish you almost feel like you can burp.
「INDIVIDUAL HAS BEEN EATING ATTRIBUTES ARE BEING OBTAINED.」
Warmth spread through your body as something within you begins to bloom. Your skill 『Symbiote』 activates and you take on an aspect of the being you just ate.
You want muscles. Bulk. Mass.
Your body gets to work turning the recent meal into mass for your body. Each bite turned into a little je ne sais quoi inside your body. Your size has grown a bit and your liquid is bulkier and thicker. What was once the viscosity of warm honey has turned into that of tar. Your movement feels wrong now. When you ooze your body moves so slowly. However, you find that you can move your body differently now
With a little stroke of inspiration, you bundle yourself into a ball using the strands of muscles that have been integrated into the liquid. The muscles are these strands of liquid that line your body. They're made of the same material as the rest but their composition is drastically different. Rather than a pool on the ground, you find yourself more like a deflated stress balloon now. You form now has an elasticity to it that it didn't have before.
You experiment with this and find that you can fling yourself by stretching yourself out and launching yourself in the air. You can also roll, but that isn't quite as fast, although, it is faster than how you were moving before.
You're on a mesa with a pile of bones. What a morbid sight.
You wonder if you could perhaps grow some armor if you ate the bones.
You start going at the bones but it's hard work as the bones don't seem to want to dissolve all that well. Perhaps this is why your body passed over on it the first go.
The bone hisses and fizzles inside you as you try to eat it, bubbles emanating from within as though it were carbonated.
You're not sure how long it took to finish one bone, but it took quite a while.
You start work on another bone while you think about a way to make it go faster when it dawns on you, you could break the bones and eat the smaller fragments.
You use your body to bounce on the bones, your mass flying through the air at breakneck speeds before landing on the bones with a fearsome crash. Some shards are unlucky and fall off over the edge, hopefully, they didn't hit anyone on the way down.
The bones are soon finished off, however, nothing seems to happen. Or at least at first. The change isn't as drastic as last time, but you think you can feel some carapace on your body and what might be horns. Or maybe bone? In any case, it's sharp and it sticks out of your body a bit.
You decide to eat some of the grasses.
You've gotta have a balanced diet after all! Or so you joke to yourself.
The grass goes down rather easily. However, while eating them they made a lovely popping sensation.
Time passes and you glide along the ground at your slow pace, plucking the grass that you find, taking pleasure in the way that it pops inside of you.
You practice you bouncing as you have nothing better to do.
You contort your body in different ways and practice making them consistent. If we were to compare it to your past life, you'd say that your body was like a piece of rubber that can be launched. Although your mass makes it so that you're not all that bouncy.
You spend some time just launching yourself higher and higher.
You crawl your way over and find yet another beast.
This one appears to be much fresher, as it stands a whopping three meters dripping with blood.
The beast is much larger as it has well toned muscles dominating it's body with a massive amount of fat stored as well. It's covered with lots of short fur. It's legs are rather stubly and are dwarfed by it's massive torso. It's head is also rather small with to round ears topping it all off to complete the look. From it's back is has a wicked looking spine that runs from it's neck to it's tiny tail.
It's belly seems rather bloated, as if it had just finished a meal before it was killed.
You wait and expect the hunger to take you over again, however, it doesn't come. Although a part of you does ache for something, the desire is nowhere near as raw and primal as it was from before. You have time to think about what to do with this tasty morsel.
You give into the ache inside your body and let it do what it wants.
Black tendrils jut out from you like a pin cushion, pointing in every cardinal direction. They crawl and they slither enveloping the furred beast in it's dark embrace. It pull it closer and closer. A giant maw opens up, the shards of bone forming little tear as it sinks it's teeth into the cadaver. From each fang and into each puncture you can feel yourself bleeding into the animal. You spread through it's veins and into it's muscles, binding to it. Soon there is little of you left, all of it gone inside a feral animal. But you have changed.
The last few drops are sucked in and the teeth embed themselves even further into the creature's flesh. But you are now the creature. Where you move, the creature moves too, and for the first time since you've died, you can see. You take a brief look at yourself and find a brownish bear, painted with streaks of deep purple, blood red, with slight hints of green. Each hand is armed with a fist full of claws, and powered with a mass of muscle, your own and the beasts natural strength. With your new vision you look at yourself and realize that you're really just a bear.
You close your eyes and bask in the warm sun for a moment.
Morning. New session for a new day.
~~~

You blink your eyes as you look out at the far horizon.

The clouds drift lazily by as you stare them down with an inquisitive gaze. In the distance, you can see a great glassy plain littered with strange two-headed horses. In the sky fantastical beast hold their dominion as small bird-sized drakes flit about puffing little clouds of smoke. The forest to the floor of the mesa below looks so small, as though it were a scale model for some grand giant or diety.

The forest itself is dense and packed but through small gaps in the canopy, you can see small groups of ape-like creatures bouncing from branch to branch. Your visual acuity actually surprises you when you swore you could see a hummingbird-like animal zip past the top of the trees.

The mesa that your on is rather strange itself, it sticks out from the ground unnaturally as though someone took the land and raised it. The edges are smooth and straight, though the top is covered with a strange green felt comprised of grass, You can see the shrub again, but it is as you thought before dead.

The wind cradles your face as you stand upon the structure.

You patrol the perimeter of your so called home. The mesa structure is in the shape of a hexagon that thowers over the forest below. If you were to say, you were over a thousand meters high. You search around for whatever could have thrown the bear up here, however, you find nothing but loneliness as there's no-one here but you.

You mope in your misery and loneliness for a little while before you see something flying towards you in the distance.

Your accute eyes see a large bird, rather, bigger than large, it was gigantic! It's wings spaned five bears and it's claws could easily hold one in it's grasp. It's feathers shimmered in the sone with a golden glow. It's beak is sharp like a claw and it's head was similar to that of an eagle. Strange like many beasts of this world we these two human arms that hung from it's body. They were held at it's side inert as the host flapped it's heavy wings towards the mesa.

Somewhere within you, you feel offended by this intrusion of your orivacy and muster up the strength to give a mighty roar.

Your maw opens wide, baring your teeth to the world. Air rushes in, filling your lungs with air as you begin to roar.

"GGGGGGGGGGUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

A splendid roar if you were to say so yourself, as you felt your body get pushed back from the sheer force. Little pebbles are knocked hear and there, and cloud of dust sets the scene, forming a curtain behind you, the star actor.

The great bird simply gives a flap of it's wings and knocks you back before perching itself upon the mesa before a voice rings in your head, it is noble and reagle, with authority emmanating from every syllable.

I see you're very confused, allow me to explain. You are a monster that was created through my mana. The other Lords like to spread their mana throughout their domains, however, as a youngling, I collected my mana here, on The Giant's Table. I have watched you grow for over a thousand years, and in the meantime, my children have grown wide and plenty, modeled in my image. Yet, you are my firstborn, and I have seen to your growth, though something changed within you when one of the hatchlings fed to you the body of the Gemini steed. You changed and grew faster, and I have seen thoughts behind your actions, which is why I have taken it upon myself to welcome you into this world.

How are you speaking to me? You ask Garuda.

"I'm speaking through telepathy, a form magic in a way. Magic is found almost everywhere in the world, but especially in the den of Lords such as this one."

He gestures with his hands towards the Table.

"One of our forefathers, the Lord of Magic, blessed our world with his pressence. Noone has seen him in over a millenia, not any of my older brothers or sister, but we feel his exsistance in our everyday life. With this magic, I impose my will upon it, like so."

He holds out a hand and a small vortex of wind appears in the palm of his hand, dancing from finger to finger.

"However, I impose my thoughts, instead of ideas, and I direct them towards you."

Magic huh. Maybe you can try to use it. First things first, you try to feel the magic that Garuda mentione first. The air is still. Wind blows from behind you. You eyes close. There is something in the air. A hazy sensation. However, as you try focus on it, it dissapears. You play cat and mouse with this sensation over and over, every single time having it just out of reach.

Mentally exhausted, you give yourself a moment's reprieve. Suddenly you're wrapped in the mana, like silk it caresses your body and cradles your core. You can feel it inisde of you, in the earth and in the air. It is a part of everything and nothing.

And you whisper to it.

You get caught in the explosion and are knocked off the edge of the platform, only to be caught by a cloud and brought back before Garuda.

"Hahahaha! Interested in magic are we? But I'm afraid it isn't that easy to learn! One must develop their sense of aptitude and grow the correct image before attempting magic, or else as you saw there will be a uncontrolable surge in the enviornment to chaotic effect."

Where even is this? You mentioned that this is "The Giant's Table", but where is that? What is this? What is this world?

"Aha, this is the world of Torque Mun. You currently stand upon the center of the vast world. Each of the Lords holds their domain, and you reside in mine. The Giant's Table is where the ground touches the sky and as such is my domain. The forest below is home to the Lord of Nature. Far to the east lies the Isle of Fire, home to the Lord of Heat. To the west are the Pools of Serenity, home to the Lord of Rain. Deep in the earth sleeps the Lord of Terra, the dens in the Cave of Despair. He has his warped naming sense."

Are there any other Lords?

"Hmm? Not particularly, while one can gain dominion over an aspect until one is acknowledged by the council one will not receive their proper nobility. Although, I'm certain you can find imposters holding such titles. But I have great expectations of you. I'm sure you'll make quite a name for yourself."

What happened to my time?

You recall the first moment you blinked into this world as if it were yesterday. In fact, to you it was yesterday! Well, a couple of days, to be fair, but it was still a ridiculous amount of time. You recall the moment you nearly slipped off the table.

Garuda looks puzzled, as he holds his hand to his chin, the bird's eyes closing in thought. He takes a moment his fingers and forms an O, with his index and thumb and gazes through it to look at you. You feel unnerved as he does this as though someone took a scalpel and dissected your alive. The sensation was extremely unpleasant.

"Sorry about that, but I had to check something. It would appear that you have the skill 『Slowed Time Perception』. In my experience, that skill makes time move faster for you. So that must be why it seems to have taken a thousand years for you to grow to this point. However, it can change depending on whether you will it or not. But my child can now speak to me, which is grounds for great joy!"

His wings burst open, the mere act sending waves of wind blowing about everywhere. Another round of earth is scattered over the edge of the table. He stands on his legs, the crest on his chest bursting forth with gusto as he stands tall and proud. With a deep breath, he calls out with a mighty caw. It is unlike your wild roar, the town rings clear and passes through you but does little to upset the surroundings. Your newfound sense of magic feels a kinship with it and you are overwhelmed by the sheer strength inside of it.

Within seconds a gale rips through the air and you are greeted with a green windstorm, a twister made of mana, a chaotic gathering of hot and cool air. The storm dissipates and reveals a lady who seemed mixed with a bird. Her wings floated up and down, your magic sense detecting that she flies by pushing the mana down with her wings. Her eyes glow red as she stares at you and Garuda. Her hands and feet have talons instead of fingers and she looks at you with seeming disinterest, as she opens her mouth to speak.

"Great father, you have called me, and I have answered. What is your will?"

Garuda nods, satisfied with her response.

"Your elder brother has finally joined us in the present, and I feel it is only right that we welcome him."

"This, bear? Surely not father, for the bears are the children of the forest, they have no bearing on our domain."

Almost as if in response to her reasoning, the body which hosted you begins to crumble beneath you, the bones snapping and the muscles contracting into tight balls of fiber. The coagulated blood begins to seep throughout every orifice and pore, soon you're left inside a pool of mashed bear.

"Uwah. How unsightly."

You crawl out of the mess, a thick trail of maroon and purple blood following behind you as though you were a slug.

"Interesting is it not? I wanted you to help me bring him to our home so that we as a family can discuss what to do with him, and to celebrate his arrival."

"As you wish father. But first..."

Her hands move through the air, making circles and runes that you've never seen before, there very presence filled with magic. When she finishes, the circles tighten and come together, making a sphere of lettering and shapes before exploding into a soft wind that blows off all the blood and gore from your figure.

How convenient.

Yes. I'm ready.

Garuda nods and motions to the young bird. He then coils his body, as he looks to the sky.

Garuda takes off, the clouds in the sky break as he makes his way through them, splitting the sea of clouds like butter. Eager to not be left behind, the birdwoman scoops you up into her arms, her arms tender and careful as to not poke you with any of her sharp talons. Your vision went with the body that gave it to you, you're left relying solely on feel, as you feel her heart beating with exertion, the vibrations of her muscles as she flaps her wings to gain momentum.

You try to tell her that you appreciate what she's doing for you, but it doesn't seem like you can tell her as she does not appear to have telepathy and you don't have a mouth. You try to give her a headpat, but without any appendages, your movements are taken as squirming and she tightens her hold on you.

The trip is sleek as you ride the air currents, the wind lashing at your face as you burst through the air. It's rather exhilarating if you do say so yourself. At some moments you can feel your bodies drop as she tightens her wings to go lower, and then at others, you can feel her flapping quickly to regain some height. Near the end, you feel your bodies slow as the force put upon you is lowered. She lands and places you on the ground where you are left to your own devices for a moment. You can feel people talking all around you, and skittish footsteps echo from all around. The ground is rather soft and pillowing, similar to that of memory foam, you can feel your body sinking into it.

I just noticed that I used the male noun, "brother" earlier. That was a mistake on my part, we're still an ungendered slime. Until I actively say otherwise, please let me know if I slip up.

~~~
You begin to explore your new surroundings, slinging your body around and trying to avoid the sources of any footsteps you come across. You sling your body to and fro, back and forth, like the rock inside of a slingshot. You find this new area is home to many cracks and crannies as the spongey floor gives way to the more solid ground. The spongey material gives way to dirt, and dirt gives way to gravel, and gravel gives way to stone. The stones begin to form an interlacing pattern on the ground which you assume to be a cobbled path.
As you bounce along, sound waves of high frequency begin to blare off from all around you. You accidentally hit one of the sources expecting some sort of mechanical machinery but instead only find a feathery humanoid. You peel yourself off of them as you continue bounding down the path until you find yourself splattered against the wall.
It looks like you launched yourself a bit too far. Oh dear.
You're extracting yourself from the wall when all of a sudden pain shoots through your entire body as electricity courses through your muscles causing you to contract into a small ball. You can feel footsteps coming closer and some soundwaves bouncing off your body, when a different set of lighter footsteps comes running in and scoops you up.
"Sorry! Sorry, I took my eye off of it for a few seconds and it got away from me." A familiar voice calls out, but you can't seem to place it.
The electricity seems to be kicking in as you try to listen in.
The electricity circulates within you until all of a sudden 『Symbiosis』 kicks in, integrating the electricity into your body. Sparks fizzle and pop around you as the electricity dissipates, absorbed into your own flesh. You can feel something about your constitution change as your body becomes looser.
The two of you are propelled through the air, higher and higher, like an arrow aimed at the sun.
"Oho? I see you've finally made it."
"No thanks to them." She drops you and you can feel someone floofing onto some sort of cushion.
Late night update, hope you don't mind.
~~~

The meal isn't filling, but it does start the metamorphosis. The muscles in your body that were just a moment ago slack begin to contract and extend repeatedly. Wrinkles form on the surface of your body, a bulbous mass growing behind each one. The nerves begin to grow and you feel like your eye muscles are completely taut. You loosen the muscles around your new eyes, however, you know that you shouldn't open them yet. One by one the eyes form, forming white spheres with purple irises throughout your body, your black opaque form serving as perfect eyelids. At last, your eyes are finished, and you open all of them, from the top of your body to the bottom. Within moments you mind process all of this new information and stitches an image together from all the information and you can see all around you from every direction.

The first thing that comes to mind is... Bright.

The walls and floors of the room are white and puffy with the consistency of cotton candy, marshmallows, or perhaps clouds. Furniture that would typically sit inside of a living room, such as a center table, some chairs, and other decorations such as statues, are placed around. They all seem to be made of this strange translucent material that shifts and shimmers in the light. From above there's a skylight raining down light on you.

On a sofa sits the bird girl, she stares at you mildly disgusted by your new growth. She looks a little bit greener than usual, but you suppose that's usual for one who has just seen an abomination grow eyes all over its body.

On what appears to be a decorated palanquin sits Garuda. The palanquin itself is colored gold as red cushioning serves as a seat. Dragons run up and down the sides of the supports as the roof towers with a red shingled pattern much like scales. He sits cross-legged as he looks at you with inquisitive eyes. His back arches and he holds his hands to his chin.

"Interesting."

ご馳走さまでした! (Thanks for the food!)

You look to Garuda and ask him a very simple question, "What now?"

His hands fall to his land and he stares at you intensely.

"Now, I offer you a choice. You can stay here like my many children, where you will never go hungry, never lonely, and never change, or you can join the realm of mortals and make a name for yourself. You will receive little guidance and assistance from me, however, what you gain will be truly yours."

He holds out two hands.

"You take my left hand and you shall be gifted a name from me, you will do what I ask when I ask. Take my right, you will be sent to the forests of beasts and will be out of my hands. With luck, we shall meet again, but I can promise nothing if you take this path."

And ASK if the bird lady wants to take a look at the mortal world. She hasn't been rude to us, just reflexively revulsed.

I choose the right one.

He nods and closes his right hand before making a circle in the air with his fist. From the circle a portal opens, the outline of which is a cyclone of sparks and fire. The inside looks like the dark maw of some creature, a sickly sort of void that seemed to pulse and throb as you looked inside of it. Every passing second seemed to pull your essence away from you.

Luckily, the black begins to fade as it's replaced with some green scenery of a forest. You can hear birds chirping and the sounds of running water as the foliage in the air. The sounds seem to be coming from that portal.

Before I go, I wanted to ask, could she come along with me? I don't know the world to well, and she could serve as a guide. He laughs and turns to her.

"Well, seems like this child has grown attracted to you already! They ask that you come along with them, will you accept?"

She shakes her head as she hides behind the armrest of the chair.

"I'm very happy that you've thought of me that way, but I don't know you all too well, and for most of my life you've just sort of been in the background and..." She continues on like this before Garuda steps in.

"It seems that you two just weren't destined to continue like this. But don't worry, this one often plays within the mortal realm and I am sure that your paths will cross again."

You nod.

Garuda pushes the portal towards you and you also inch towards it as well. You cross the border and you can feel your body shrink and contort as you pass through the boundaries of space. You're glad that you don't have a stomach for that would have most definitely made you hurl.

You sit and the dirt floor staring at the treeline above. The green canopy hides the blue sky from your sight as sunbeams break through the canopy lighting the forest floor. Mulch liters the ground as dead tree material and leaves cover the floor. Bugs and various other insects march around, searching for their next meal.

In the distance you hear what sounds like a human screeching.

You amble in the way of the scream, crawling over the roots and under brushes to get to your target. Reminding you of your goal is the scream that rattles through the air every so often. "Who's there?"

You don't really have any mouth to talk with so it's not like you could really give a reply, nonetheless, you inch your way closer to the voice. The nest sits in the center of the water as the small waves of wind push various bits forest debris off the surface of the water. You step a little closer and you begin to make out a shape amidst the vegetation and it looks canine almost. You step closer towards the shore and you see more features come to light white fur, patches of red, sharp teeth. You walk around the beach a little more and that's when you get a clear view of what lay inside.

A canine with nine tails lay tangled in the vegetation staring at you.

"Oh, it's just a slime."

They sigh and screech again.

You swim into the lake, ripples emanating from behind you like little waves on the water's surface. The fox stares at you as you wade in the water. Their head cocks to the side as you approach. You do a similar action to swimming through all that you're really doing is skimming across the top of the water as you skitter about, your body contracting and expanding as though you were some dark purple jellyfish.

You make it onto the isle of thorns and are thankful that your form isn't susceptible to all of the thorns surrounding you. You can now see that the thorns are stabbing into the fox from every which way. Blood oozes from the perforations in great rivers, as they inch down their body. You imagine that it would hurt quite a bit, however, they don't seem very bothered very much by it as they watch you with mild amusement.

You body seeps through the thorns like thick molasses as you make it to the fox hiding within. You open the eyes that aren't sitting on thorns and stare at them, meanwhile, they stare back at you with blank wonder.

Since you don't seem to talk the fox decides to take initiative as they pick you up between their paws and begin to bounce you around.

Your body is pushed up into the air from one paw to the next like a little bouncy ball as they amuse themselves. Soon enough, they set you down and start howling again.

Hey all, it's me. I know how the scene's supposed to go but have been struggling all day to actually put it to words. Will try to get it to you as soon I as I can. I haven't abandoned you all just yet.

Really? Shame. I'll get around to making a new thread.

~~~
You try to eat the thorns.
You start by relaxing your muscles as you let your body settle over the thorns. You liquid body envelops surrounds them and begins to dissolve the plant matter slowly. Time passes and the fox continues to screech.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCf5zllopd8
It takes a good amount of time but you eventually make your way through one of the vines. The pale green pallor dissolving into nothing. You work on breaking off another piece of the thorny mess, however, you find the piece that you've just broken has already regrown itself, the new area a bright green in contrast of the older thorns everywhere else. Worse still, you find that the thorns have begun to dig in even further, fresh blood dripping from the fox's fur.
The fox doesn't look too good, as they put their head down and closes their eyes. For a second you think they might have died, but a leaf settles on their nose and they snort and shake it off.
You decide to approach this differently. You spread yourself over the thorns, forming a protective layer around the fox. You set back to work eating the thorns. You experience with the last piece makes this simple work and within moments you've tackled the crux of the thorns.
You bite and gnaw at the thorns, but eventually, night falls, casting a shadow onto the forest around you. You can spot little eyes around you in the night. The little eyes staring at you with almost iridescent yellow eyes. They scuttle about bouncing from root to root as they look at you working on the roots with inquisitive fascination.
In the distance, under the gloom of night and in the shade of trees you can see a great mass of something. It gives you a wide berth though and is gone within moments.
Dawn begins to break and birds start singing their birdsong.
With just a little bit of the thorns left to go, 『Symbiosis』 kicks in.
ORGANISM HAS BEEN CONSUMED. 『Symbiosis』 HAS ACTIVATED.」
Both of these sound pretty good. Not sure which one is better since we're going to be eating things anyway.
simply designed blades and some hardening so i imagine we could walk around on the like some weird crab legs and harden our body and gain a plant like outer layer that we can cover in thorns
>>
>>3013629
a hard outside we can cover in sharp protrusions and if long enough we can use like legs and weapons like spears or daggers but more hook like
>>
>>3013638
and Photosynthesis we can gain from LITERALLY ANY PLANT
