We continue PGQ from where we left off, with the arrival of an Arch-Deacon....
>>
>>3003619
Before long the Arch-Deacon leaves the meeting to attend to his own matters, and has one of his staff send you the proposed plans for the Cathedral along with a large suite of Luxury apartments and offices, for his highest ranking lieutenants.....

Rumor has it the Arch-Deacon himself has already purchased a large tract of farmland outside the Capital City and is planning to build massive estate there.....

You are slightly offended with the level of luxury being demanded by the Ecclesiarchy officials, as they are living in a space far nicer than your own, an enlarged officers quarters in the bowels Fort Tarsis....

However you are used to a Spartan lifestyle, sleeping under the stars sometimes as a junior officer and later in your career staying in bunkers and tent cities, so you understand the value of hot food, and a warm dry bed....

The Cathedral project will cost 400,000 thrones, but the local Diocese will cover half the costs of the project....

In the following months, things are relatively quiet as production begins of Chimeras and the Arch-Deacon begins to get settled.

The promised Naval patrol finally arrives, surveying your system and giving you maps of the surounding space....

Your system itself is home to several gas giants, as well as a barren world....

Galantis IV, has two moons, that you were already aware of, what you werent aware of is that one is an ocean moon, that has features making it inhabitable, while the other is a lifeless rock, covered in red dust and sand....

It will take our own ship to do a more detailed survey of the system, but at least you have an idea of whats out there....

As far as the surrounding space, most of it is wilderness space, poorly explored because of shifting warp storms in the area, and the distance from the core of Imperial territory.....

Del Kruptman often leads expeditions into wilderness space, so perhaps he could provide more information....

What is known is that to the far north are the Insidious Xenos Empire known as the Tau, who you have already met.....

To your galactic south east, a group of Xenos known as the Feroxians, have emerged as a threat, raiding nearby Imperial worlds and warplanes, previously hidden by warp storms, they were last surveyed over 3 millenia ago and not considered a threat, now they have mastered space flight and are an iminent threat in the region....

In the less explored regions, there are likely pirate bases, xenos worlds and potentially lost human colonies.....
>>
>>3003636
Hooray ! Second thread (you should put the link for the first thread at the start for new players; and maybe a summary of what happened and who we are.) ; so the Arch-Deacon has accepted all of our demands that means we still have a good amount of thrones .... I say we need to expand the PDF guys, more troops are needed.

Or more fortifications.

We can fix our old estate/palace after.

Payment of the first phase of Cathedral construction and the new manufactorum has drained our coffers significantly....

Leaving us with 82,000 thrones in our financial reserves....

You decide to have a proper space port built, rather than using landing pads in the city or near Fort Tarsis as the main entry point for shuttles coming out of orbit.....

This will cost 50k thrones

This will increase income by 2k a year, simply for making simpler to move goods offworld, as the spaceport is linked with the existing highway system....

With us now down to 32k thrones, we can no longer realistically do some of the development options. We will need to find a way to make some quick cash or be more patient and increase our income.....

We could do several things....

A. Ask Del Kruptman for a loan

You decide to pass on the loan for now, seeing as you dont wont to be indebted to anyone at this time.....

You are surprised, when you are contacted by Del Kruptman out of the blue....

It seems he has some sort of business proposition he wishes to offer you.....

He is offering to sell you 10,000 Xenos slaves for 10,000 thrones, they are an avian race called Xathians, strong and lean, Del Kruptman uses them for mining in areas with high risk of death, and simply works the slaves to death, replacing them when the previous group dies off.....

He recommends them for mining your ceramite, especially since you dont have to pay them.....

A. Take the deal(10,000 thrones)(+5k thrones/year for 5 years)
B. Pass

He also is interested in hiring some of your troops onto to his service temporarily, having them serve as Condottieri in his army, apprarently he needs some additional ground forces to protect a series of mines hes operating on Xathia.....

You ultimately decide to take both deals, netting you 40k immediately and 10,000 Xathian slaves....

You decide to send of the inexperienced native regiments to get them some combat experience on a relative low-risk mission....

It only take a few days before the chests of thrones are delivered along with the shipment of Slaves....

You have dinner and a few drinks with Del Kruptman, who is apprarently making a fortune on the mining of Veros Chrystals, used in the manufacture of Hellguns, along with gold, iron, diamonds and a number of other gems and minerals....

"Bloody Xathian's keep ambushing my men though, killing my miners, and now my workers are afraid to go down there, I had to double their pay to get them working again! Damned Xenos filth!"

You now know what he needs your men for, as he wants to beef up security around his strip mining operation.....

Remember a thing don t fall to the xenos lies, especially the Tau&Eldar (and the Tau really love diplomacy, so before they attack there will be some time [since their objective is making Galantis IV a tau sept]. A check how their spaceships works they can t use the warp so they are a lot slower) . Also if some of you want to be nice with them, we have a Arch-Deacon and a Cathedral on our planet now.

(Plus we were from the imperial guard so we really hate xenos and heretics, since our everyday bread was stop them and kill them. If we were a noble from the start we could have been more "elastic").

My next development vote go for Expand the PDF (too important and too dangerous to have just some Mordian mercs and our own regiment).

Another thing has the Ecclesiarchs started purify and bless the ships we have capture from that chaos warband ?

Word is on the street 8'th <they advanced the plot> the tau have discovered warp travel but are worst at it then the Imperium so they'll stick to their old drives.

I'm in favor of building up our static emplacements to give us ground to orbital options few defense laser's will stop anything getting away even if it gets make planet fall.

While I feel we are undermanned with a newly mechanized Division worth of troops/w supports it will do. Arch-Deacon can call the warriors of faith in if it gets thermal if he likes us. Or remove the liability and exterminate us like bugs.

The ship dropped a raiding party then left so they got away. Nope and we assumed they have.

Just as a note on expanding the PDF, perhaps a system of mandatory service from the local populace could be good.
If we have all men from the ages of 18-20 be required to serve in a reservist role for even just a few weeks a year it will give us a big boost to our numbers and also make it easier to raise militias in future should we suffer an invasion.
Depending on the level of development of the planet it could be combined with the education system. If no system is present then we can set one up with basic training being taught along with firm devotion to Him on the Throne, that should appease the Ecclesiarchy. However if there is a general education present then perhaps a mandatory extracurricular organisation for boys be set up to fill the gap.

Fort Tarsis, named after Lord Dorman Tarsis, the founder of Galantis IV, is a heavily fortified military base, with traditional defenses in the form of high walls and bunkers dug deep underground, bristling with guns and missile defenses against both ground and air attacks, it also has large housing facilities for your troops, and areas for securely parking thousands of ground vehicles and aircraft....

A few miles outside the Capital City and linked with the highway system, Fort Tarsis is centrally located to deploy troops all across your realm....

However there some problems....

The entire world lacks anti-orbital defenses, setting some up near the Fort would grant a small region coverage against fleets in orbit and begin the start of an orbital defense network

There is also the lack of administrative space and housing for non-military staff, forcing you to have to sometimes travel in the city to do important government work....

In addition there is a lack of luxury amenities, starting with living spaces, but including high-class bars/restaurants, ballrooms/event spaces and other recreational spaces....

Finally you lack luxurious living quarters fitting a Planetary Governor and a proper Throne room, for ceremonies and to impress visitors.....

You consider yourself a rational and loyal man, as well as holding a faith in the protection of the God-Emperor but have found little time to worship him, you could build a large shrine for yourself and the most pious citizens in the Fort....

What should we work on?

A. Improve the Orbital defenses around Fort Tarsis
B. Expand the bunker system with living and working space for administrative staff, record keeping and general government storage
C. Add Luxury living suites into the bunker system, with special elevators to carry special dignified visitors

We would still have cash if we didn't blow all of it on stupid non revenue making shit. We didn't even need mercenaries, but we chose to pay for expensive mercs anyways.

So here is an plan for getting more cash and revenue.

>>3004171
A. Ask Del Kruptman for a loan
Ask for a loan from this guy to make a spaceport, it will generate money for us. In return we give him and his ship free repairs and resupply his ship for free or really good discount prices (if the damage is small enough or cosmetic) or what he needs is not much for resupply. This will be on top of paying back the loan.

B. Ask the Ecclesiarchy for a loan
Ask them for the loan but agree to have Interest and then pay the interest paid back in Ecclesiarchy related services and investments or products such as small shrines or missionary programs to send people to isolated areas of people away from the Emperors light, training an acolyte program of young religious devotees, and some festivities for special occasions etc.
>>
>>3012414
I don't know about free repairs... but I can get behind free docking and discounted resupply etc
>>
>>3012422
Its about making our spaceport bigger and capable of servicing larger ships and moving more cargo, hopefully allowing it to generate 5k in revenue instead of 2k.

I mentioned that repairs are only free for small fix jobs and minor damage, this includes resupply. If he demands or ask for alot of supplies or wants to renovate the entire ship or patch a huge hole running down the length of the ship, then we charge him, but offer a decent discount price, ie %10 - %20 off total costs.

In the interest of everybody here, I am going to fastforward you to the end of the year, so you can collect your income.....

You have decided to launch a settler campaign, issuing preloaded Vox messages all over the sub-sector, speaking of opportunity and freedom to find your own success on Galantis IV....
>>
>>3013214
The rest of the year passes by relatively uneventfully until the end of the year, when you are presented an interesting business offer by Del Kruptman.....

Apparently, stripping Xathia of its resources has been quite lucrative, and Del Kruptman is looking for investors to expand operations dramatically......

He has identified several items of interest on the world, which he would like to exploit....

There are rare gasses, coming from Geysers and trapped underground that have useful properties in some weapons and medical technology.....

There is also a less conventional revenue source on the planet, which is covered by trees made of an exotic type of wood native to Xathia, lighter, stronger and more flexible than other woods it is a great material for furniture and housing, especially on less populated frontier worlds like our own....

Based on info from Del Kruptman and your own people's analysis, even a 10% cut of the operation would yield 40k in profits

You could easily invest up to 30% of the operation, while Del Kruptman maintains the controlling share of the Xathia Mining Corporation.....

In addition the regiment you hired out to Del Kruptman has returned, now a veteran unit....

They tell you of deadly ambushes by the natives using spears and arrows made of bone and their native hardwood, flung hard and fast enough to easily penetrate flak armor and kill a man if it hits the right place....

They speak of a thousand small battles, steadily losing men against the natives, the native warriors melting back into the forest, as soon as Imperial firepower is brought to bear on them.....

Your options for investments are to invest Machines, Troops and cash

A.(10%) Make a cash investment (40,000 thrones)
B. (10%)Donate your mining equipment
C. (10%) Lend 2 Regiments to the operation
D. A mix between the options

You decide to deploy 2 green native infantry regiments along with putting up cash to make a 20% investment in the Xathia Mining corporation, a subsidiary of Del Kruptman Corporation.....
>>
>>3013726
Seeing as your partners now, Del Kruptman is offering you a good deal on an extra merchant freighter in his fleet....

You decide to stay on Galantis for now, leaving the military operation on Xathia in the hands of your regimental officers, who while enthusiastic and eager to learn, lack combat experience, which will be hard-won during their time there...

With homes and roads rebuilt, along with a new advanced manufactorum, the Capital City buzzes with life, even greater than the times before the raids....

With that the wealth of the local people has increased and one of the old Industrial families has elected to reopen several factories in the Capital....

Far below the interest of the red priesthood, these factories make simple, yet useful and valuable goods....

The first 2 that are being reopened manufacture work boots, while the second manufactures fertilizer, some of the basic building blocks of an economy....

Traditionally the previous governor operated a state-capitalism economy, with the Planetary government owning a substantial share in large businesses, protecting them and ensuring their continued success and existence in exchange for a portion of the profits....

We could enact such a policy for ourselves now, investing 50,000 thrones for 50% stake in these new factories, or we can simply let the free market operate, collecting taxes from the businesses if they are succesful....

Xathia is a large world mostly covered in dense forest, with a temperature averaging slightly higher than earths....

Due its large size it also has a lower gravity, making creatures grow taller and frailer compared to other worlds....

It is over 3 weeks warp travel to the northeast of the Galantis system....

You start going on daily runs around the perimeter of Fort Tarsis but you are interested in getting back into a weight lifting regime as well as resuming combat training.....

You also find the affairs of state to be a burden, in many ways different to running a battle and organizing an army, you have to care much more about how people feel about issues and try to get on their good side, compared to the Imperial Guard, where men follow orders, or are punished severely for an kind of insubordination....

You could work with some of your local bureaucrats and government workers to develop more skills for dealing with people and organizing a government organization

You spend your extra time getting focused and in shape, doing a heavy weights routine as well running daily and getting combat training from Master Sergeant Roderick Grimes who acts as the leader of your bodyguard company, he leads his Elite Karskin Stormtrooper company to protect you everywhere you go, and equipped with some of the finest infantry weapons in the Imperium and clad in void-seiled carapace armor. Grimes and his men are all skilled fighters, well trained and experienced in fighting some of the horrors of the galaxy, their last assignment attempting to protect a over-arrogant Lord General, with aspirations for Terran Politics lead a poorly organized campaign against an Eldar Craftworld known to be operating in the area, fighting off half a dozen assassination attempts from enemy jump troops and the unpredictable attacks of their deadly warp spider warriors, twice able to penetrate a bases outer defenses and teleport into the command center before being gunned down by the Grimes and his company, the company lost a dozen men, who were replaced when the General was promoted and reassigned to you....

"Let's get started M'Lord. First we are working on your stance....."

While you had some training in aristocratic-style dueling, Grime's style is more of focused exertion of brute-force, a simple and practical fighting style, design to crush your foe as quickly and efficient as possible....

You spend some time on unarmed fighting as well as using various weapon, mainly your power sword, as well as a power glaive, power fist, and power maul, or a pair of lightning claws shooting your bolt-pistol and several other weapons at one of the practice ranges including a melta gun, plasma gun, grenade launcher, sniper rifle....

What type of fighting style would you like to focus on

A. Aggresive, focus on killing your enemies before they kill you(+10 on attack rolls)
B. Defensive, focus on staying alive and outliving your enemies(+10 on defense rolls)

Also what weapons would like to focus on using? Before a battle, you will be allowed to select your loadout, so this will just be a default unless you guys want to change to something else...

You may use any type of non-artifact power weapon and other rare weapons, like plasma and melta weapons and all the weapons listed above, as you can acquire them though Del Kruptman through your personal fund, although your personal wealth can outfit yourself, it would be too cost prohibitive to equip every soldier with a power-weapon...

You decide to opt for an offensive fighting style giving you an attack bonus in personal combat, utilizing powerful first strikes and force to overwhelm enemies as fast as possible.....

During your training regime you continue contact with the Regimental commanders on Xathia, but begin to receive disturbing reports, that a Xathian Chief has begun uniting the tribes there in a cohesive force and is rallying thousands of warriors to his banners....

Keeping with this the Xathians have gotten more confident and aggressive against the expanding mining and logging operations there, which despite you sending two full regiments, are spreading the defenders thin, often forcing company and platoon sized elements to fight alone for days at a time without support....

Since this not an officially Sanctioned operation, you cannot call on support from other Imperial forces.....

Del Kruptman has asked that you temporarily lead combat operations on Xathia, until the chief is defeated and the crisis is over, he is willing to pay you 100,000 thrones for your services along with another 2 regiments of your choice.....

Despite the knowledge of the troubles on Xathia, the Rogue Trader still saunters into the meeting in the conference room in Fort Tarsis with his same cocky swagger, something you have gotten familiar with in your dealings with him...

"Have you considered my offer, Lord Governor? It is unfortunate such complications have arisen on the Xathian operation"

He looks at you with slight apprehension, given the scowl you received him with. You stand up from your chair and look the Rogue Trader dead in the eye, the tension immediately dramatically increasing in the room

>>
>>3024214
True, but would we get paid for it?
>>
>>3022882
Take the Mordian Mercenary Regiment & the 4th Galantis. The 352nd has fought enough.
>>
>>3024258
the way things have gone here, our primary concern should be to end the conflict quick and get most of our troops home safe.

we could lose much if this drags out. equipment and manpower best served defending our home
for me the profit comes second

Im making an executive decision based on some of the answers, and you have decided to take the 352nd along with the 4th infantry regiment, one of your green native regiments....

The men and their gear are quickly assembled and loaded onto one of Del Kruptmans Transports....

The warp journey to Xathia is fortunately uneventful, arriving in the 3 weeks typical for the trip...

You immediately request a flyover and briefing on the military situation on the planet....

The Xathians, who have already launched raids and suprise attacks on the mining and lumber camps as well as the trucks traversing the roads between them. carrying supplies and goods, have become even bolder and more aggresive, killing dozens of guards and valuable workers....

In addition flyovers and orbital pictcaptures have identified a cluster of villages, where the Xathians seem to be rallying a massive warband under one of their chiefs, unfortunately orbital strikes are not an option as their villages sit above a large deposit of valuable ores, valued over half a million thrones.....

In addition to your men, Del Kruptman has hired a regiment of Elysian airborn mercenaries for the Xathian war, along with a regiment from the PDF of Lord Preston Jelko, the other investor in the Xathian operation....

It is immediately clear to you that Jelko's regiment, known as the Vikarian Highborn, are utterly unprepared for battle, as you find out they only take the children of aristocrats, allowing common-born soldiers to do the bulk of the fighting, instead resembling a glorified men's drinking club.....

During the council of war, Jelko constantly interrupts you, asking extremely basic questions, and countering your ideas with overly simplistic and foolish strategy suggestions....

He goes as far as to insult your heritage, declaring that a man of noble blood can easily do any job done by a commoner....

In the end you there are several ideas, including launching a combined strike against the gathering army using the 352nd's vehicles and the Elysian regiments air-support and air-mobile infantry, while having the rest of the men focus on protecting the supply convoys and outposts on the planet from raiding parties....

Another strategy idea is to use the mechanized forces to protect the convoys and outposts on the surface, using their chimeras for escort duty, and using leman russ tanks as mobile defense turrets guarding the outposts, wearing down the Xathians over time with the Elysians being used as a quick response force....

A. Launch a strike against the gathering Xathians
B. Use a defensive scheme to wear the Xathians down
C. Other(Write-in)

Tell Del Kruptman to prepare to lauch some light orbital strikes on near positions to the xenos position that can t damage the ore but will put in confusion the xenos before we attack
>>
>>3025225
also tell Jelko (alone with Kruptman if possible) to stop this petty things during the battles, we need to put the xenos under our feet quickly.

if he thinks he can hack it, let him get a dangerous position with little strategic importance. if he can get himself killed, maybe we can get some free recruits from the remains

Have we managed to translate their language? Do they know how to read?
If so; we could launch a propaganda campaign where we say things like "we bring peace and prosperity" "your leaders push your sons and brothers into killing fields for personal glory" etc. It might be worth it if we're going for the long campaign. We might even get a leader who is sympathetic to our cause

You decide to launch a strike against the gathering Xathian horde....

Shall you lead the men from the front?(You will have the chance to enter into personal combat)

A. Yes
B. No

>>3027859
They have a primitive written language, which we have developed a small knowledge of, able to translate basic words, however humans are incapable of speaking their language, which requires mechanical assistance

There will be no long campaign, Kruptman have ask our help for an emergency not for a dedicate campaign. Now we are here for finish this quickly, and return to Galantis, without being a corpse.

(Half of this primitives xenos tribes were taken and put as working-slaves until death in the mines and other resources structres of this planet. We have even some of them in our ceramite mines on Galantis. And they are being united for free their brethren and kill us here. A more peaceful approach will just be seen as an insult, plus coming from us ? From an ex imperial guard officer, that was send to wars against xenos and heretics ?)

You decide to lead the men from the front, which force do you want to ride with?

A. The Elysian mercenaries
B. The 352nd mechanized regiment
C. In the reserves with the 4th Galantis infantry regiment
D. Insert yourself along with your bodyguards somewhere near the battlefield
E. Other(Write-in)

Also pick your weapon loadout for this mission

You are permitted one two handed weapon and two one handed weapons, you already have your power armor on, which will make you virtually invincible against the natives....

The native warriors are unarmored and generally use the cover of the thick brush and forest to conceal their movements....
>>
>>3028050
You retain your normal +15 command bonus when leading in the field, and can gain an additional +5 command bonus from winning duels

>B. The 352nd mechanized regiment
>DRIVE ME CLOSER SO I CAN HIT THEM WITH MY SWORD!

Pastebin of our gear? I can't remember what weapons we own

something flame-throwery
>>

D. Insert yourself along with your bodyguards somewhere near the battlefield

Come on they need to do their job and have fun too.

For the equipment a power sword and a
Heavy Lasgun.

I would prefer to have a melee and range option, but it depends on how we approach the battle.

You decide to ride in with the 352nd, your old regiment....

Would you rather ride in the back of a chimera and fight as an infantryman? Or command your old tank, the Iron Maiden, a rare Leman Russ Vanquisher?

A. Ride into battle with the rest of the infantry in a chimera
B. Command the Iron Maiden, your Leman Russ Vanquisher tank

You excitedly step off the shuttle as it lands in the staging area outside the base camp on Xathia, quickly walking to your old tank the Iron Maiden, where Sergeant Carnes, who commands the tank when you are not using it, is waving you over....

"Sir! It's good to see you out with the lads again, I'll take command of one of the other tanks in the squadron and cover your back"

He quickly runs across the staging area, while you climb up onto the old girl's hull, feeling the slight dent, where a heretic tank shell impacted and failed to explode, saving you and your crew's lives during an assault on the heretic's defense lines....

You barely fit inside the commander's hatch, wearing your power armor, scraping the edge of it as you slide into the tank, almost stepping on Corporal Giles

Corporal Giles serves as your gunner, considered the best in the regiment, he once shot down an approaching enemy ground attack fighter with the main gun on the Iron Maiden, one of the only known leman russ aerial kills.....

"Sir!" He grunts as you climb in, before once more looking down at his station, fiddling with the tank gun's optics...

Your driver is a rookie, recently transferred to the crew after the previous driver was promoted to command of his own tank...

He was first in his class in the last group of replacements you received before the regiment was transferred out of the Imperial Guard....

He almost jumps out of his seat seeing you climb into the tank....

"I'm so excited to serve with you sir! I won't let you down!"

When we get back to homeworld, we really should invest in mass producing some sort of low altitude airplane so we can give close combat support
