Let me know when you are here, guys.

***

Our little sisters succeeded in sending a probe to the [ERROR]'s universe, and found that the mass of land we spotted through a previous probe's exploration, is actually a massive supercontinent, much too far for our probe to reach and explore with its current fuel supply, so we had it (the probe) take as many samples of the 'guardian' creatures as it could before coming back to us.

Sadly(?), the creature followed, and lo and behold! In our world, with our laws of physics, it lost the ability to... fly? swim through the air? Whatever it was doing before, it could not do it in our world, and so crashlanded from several miles above into the mountains.

We quickly set out to get as many samples as possible, and keep brats from poking the eldritch abomination with sticks. Just in case.

Happy Halloween

***

Well, since our rockitboat is all the way at the eastern end of the continent right now, we're going to have to fly there on our often-forgotten mount.

Radiant is more than happy to see us, and enjoys our head-patting while letting out a soft coo.

"Big brother, can we go too?" - asks Portia and Zoe
"Well..."

>We need Radiant to carry us and Lyann already, so we'll just take some samples and come back after burying the body.

Isn't Squidward mostly not doing much because he has a hard time fitting in dungeons? Couldn't he carry one or two?
And Lyann and Aritsu should get their own flying mounts when they've got the time.

"Alright" - we reply to our itty bitty kitty and the itty bitty spider imoutos

Calling out squidward, our pet has no issue picking up the girls (Portia is actually much lighter than you'd think), and flying alongside us on our way to the crash site.

Ah, I think its a good thing that they're just riding on its head... there'd be something inherently wrong to seeing our imoutos wrapped in tentacles, after all.

At the crash site, we see that indeed, there's very little left of the [ERROR]. The main body has been broken and shattered, and there's... lets call it ooze, all over the mountainside.

We shouldn't have brought our little sisters along.

Or so we thought, but Portia seems less affected than we are as she starts picking up samples and storing them into some of the new test tubes the succubus village has been pumping out.

Zoe is actually standing by with a toughtful look.

"If it is dead, shouldn't it have faded away already?" - she says - "It's been much longer than five rounds."

"Eh?" x3

Lyann, Portia and Zoe look at us, slightly confused.

Well, its really, REALLY broken, alive or not.

But, it may be a bro? As if not wanting to let us look ridiculous, it flails one of its broken wing-like appendages. clearly trying to leap. Not that it can do more than wiggle slightly in place.

"Oh!" - Portia looks pretty excited - "We finally get a live one!?"

Well, we have plenty of magically preserved bodies, but this is, indeed, the first living specimen we've gotten. Indeed. it is a good thing we didn't do something silly like blasting it with spells or something like that.

"Alright, let's set up a forcefield around it and ferry it back." - we suggest.

It actually takes us the whole evening to do so, but we do manage to go back to the university, grab some generators, come back, assemble them, and ferry the thing back.

It isn't really healing, but it doesn't looks like it is getting any worse either, which is quite amazing considering how little of it is actually left.

Still, this is a great success! We finally can experiment with a living(?) [ERROR]!

"Well, let's start tomorrow early." - we tell our imoutos
"Aww..." - both of them protest
"If you two little ones aren't home on time, both our moms are going to get worried. You don't want to make them worried, right?"
"Right..."
"No, big brother."

Well, we managed to send them home safely.

Actually, I'm a little worried. She's 10 and already manipulating men, you know? Plus, she's super cute.

Well, I guess we shouldn't take Kya to Mantequira for a while... though she does make such an adorable pet.

Ah, its not like we can't do it for fun later, though.

The soldiers are quite used to seeing us come out from the sacred peach tree in the imperial garden, so we have no issues making it into the palace. We do need to ask around for Ren's whereabouts, though.

She is at the audience chamber, meeting with general Li and other high ranking officers about the budget for the incoming year.

We apologize for our lateness as we go in, but apparently we were not notified about the meeting.

Hopefully it wasn't because we were 'meeting' with Yin...

"Ah, duke, please come in." - says the empress

The generals are standing at the feet of the throne. I guess that's the traditional way to do this.

As it turns out, the navy is complaining about the ships lost in the battle with the Alquian fleet, and how they haven't been replaced yet.

They managed to refloat one of the sunken ships somehow, but the rest were dragged away by the tide and they have not been able to locate them.

To add insult to injury, they've been tasked with ferrying about the army as of late, which means that their regular pirate hunting activities are lacking, and the navy commander fears a pirate resurgence.

The general states that it is unavoidable since the army is ferrying supplies and goods to the villages attacked by the [ERROR]s, and while the new road network has been a great help, it is still too slow to go by land to the furthest reaches of the empire.

With the new trade routes we opened with Alquia, we could afford two new ships, if we do not authorize any new projects...

"Nh, nh." - Ren nods nods with a little smile - "Thank you, duke."

She nods nods and switches which leg is on top, then announces that there will be two new rockitships, but one will be as armored and as big a super trader as the shipyards can produce, because she wants to 'keep enhancing the commercial routes'.

Uhmm... if we have a 'super tanker' rockitship dedicated specifically dedicated to trade, we can probably snowball that into actual ships of the line for the navy.

"Yes, your highness." - chorus of the generals and admirals
"Ah, crew it with officers and crewmen close to retirement. If they wish to, they can remain on board with private contracts after retiring." - nods nods Ren

Well, I guess that would be a cozy job for former combat staff to 'retire' to, if they don't actually want to retire.

Once the meeting is over and the staff leaves, Ren walks over to stand on her toes and give us a smooch.

"Duke, you were late!" - she admonishes us while still smiling
"Honestly, I didn't knew there was a meeting."

She takes us to her room... well, its better to call it her palace wing, I supose. Of course, her personal quarters are as large as a small manor, with her actual, proper bedroom in the middle, surrounded by several convenience rooms, including a spring, a (yes, separated) bath, a stone garden, and a studio full of surprisingly good paintings in ink and brush.

"This, is the studio." - says the shining empress - "You can not look at these. They are not finished, alright?"

She exclused two paintings in the east side of the room. The ones that are complete look really nice, though.

Most of them look like self portraits until you notice the head accessory we gave to Mako.

So, she really misses her that much.

The ink and brush loan themselves well to soft shades, giving the portaits a delicate look, though you can't help but feel oil painting is better... ah, we haven't actually seen any oil paintings, have we? Let's make a set of oils for her later, then.

There's a platform at the center of the studio, with a simple chair and a white pedestal next to the chair, probably for fruit baskets and such.

The studio has a nice, comfy, slightly sleepy mood to it.

She happily tows us around her studio. Its full of portraits of Mako, the shadows, and those in her life. There's one of general Li, the doctor, and plenty of the lionguards.

There's a few of landscapes, with amazingly detailed, painstakingly detailed trees, and cute honeyfaeries here and there... eh, her tastes are surprisingly girly.

Well, she is very girly. No, more like feminine in a delicate way. Even though she's higher level than us... its complicated.

"...and this is the meditation garden." - she explains as she stands at the edge of the zen stone garden - "Ah, the shadows help us train here, too."

We nod nod, mostly just enjoying her presence as she shows us around.

"You are not meant to disturb the stones while fighting on it." - she says, brushing off a bit of hair that had fallen over her face - "Ah! Do you want to see the spring? We could enjoy the water and have a light meal and tea!"

She's fidgeting slightly, and avoiding our eyes. Its a fresh sensation.

Ah, we should take some local products and try this with Mako, too.

"Ah... that, is a bit too sweet." - she says after a moment, her face slightly flushed

"Alright, wait a moment." - we slice a round bread in three, shaving off the topmost and bottom slices, creating a pseudo sliced bread, then grill it on top of a metal grid while the empress watches.

The grid was nearby as part of a plant pot, in case you were wondering, but the vine was much too small yet to reach it, in case you were wondering. We [Clean] it before using it, and will [Clean] it again before returning it to its spot.

"Duke...?" - she looks at us with interest
"This is called a toast."

She nods and waits patiently.

Yup, a 1st sphere [Fire Wall] on top of a metal dish is more than enough to toast the bread 'slice' quite nicely. Once it is firm, we butter it up and spread the jam on it, then...

Uhnn... I'll have to pay more attention to what I see at tables everywhere from now on.

Actually, aren't these recopes somewhat wasteful? I mean, it means I'd need to spend materials to make regular bread, then use that bread to make toast... less try making a bread mold in the future, and/or sliced bread.

Also, I hadn't really thought about it, but this bread does have a different taste... that's because it isn't made with milk, uh? I wonder if we could popularize bread made with milk. It would give the aurochkin another source of income.

"Master, be careful." - says a slightly trembling honey faery queen

We hug and kiss her gently. As usual, she fits easily between our arms, and her everything is soft as we kiss her.

"They're not actually invading yet, so I'm just going to see what is happening and return."
"In that case, why can't we go!?" - clearly, Lyann is pretty upset about this
"Uhmm..."

I knew Lyann would react like this.
I just worry that she'll do something dumb to try to protect Eldric and get herself captured.

But how to say "I think you'll do something dumb" without hurting her feelings?

They can come if they promise to stay on the rock-it ship and take graphology picts of the portal and the area.

"Uuuh~ " - Lyann looks away and says something under her breath that roughly sounds like 'alright'
"Was that a yes?"
"No..?"

Since we had to leave at least one 'rule' running on her collar, we left the 'can't lie to us' option going.

"Will you please just stay safe and help collect date?"
"Fuuu~...fine."
"Thank you." - we give her a little kiss, but she's clearly not happy, still.

So, we step unto the deck of a imperial fleet rockitship, and head out towards the islands. Straight ahead is a hole in the sky, ominously visible as round blackness against a background of slowly appearing stars, visible only because it is complete nothingness, a perfectly cut round nothing in the sky.

The general joins us, and the troops run in on wide lines up the ramps, then our ship sails off, the water splashing as we leave port, then dripping off the deck as we leave the water and rise into the skies. Soon, the hull is dry, and we lift over the clouds while heading for that disk of nothing in the sky.

Sorry guys, we had a minor earthquake and it cut off my internet for almost a whole day. Plus 1/2 the city was without water, so I guess I can't complain. You got to know which things are vital, after all.

***

"Yes sir." -replies the captain of the ship, and sends several signal flares out, asking about the status of the site

Once the reply comes from the ground troops, the captain orders for the bombardment. The lightning ballistae sweep the area, but nothing seems to happen.

Well, I guess that if they were invisible to begin with, they may remain invisible after you shoot them. That, or there was nothing there to begin with. Either way, shooting costs nothing but a few seconds to recharge the capacitors, so its okay.

"And now we wait." - we sigh
"How long should we wait?" - asks the captain
"General?" - we defer to the general in these matters
"The invasion was scheduled for 2 months from now, on the assumption they couldn't open the gate before then. This has clearly been proven to not be the case. We'll remain ready to move in for a full day, then allow the troops to rest and change it so we can move in within minutes, for now."

Ah, I guess it would be just too petty to complain about how this will wreck our schedule, right? Moreover, I wonder what we should do...

This is most dangerous, but we need information. We need to be ready to kill it at a moment's notice, however.

Of course, our dependable imouto writes back, letting us know that she will prepare the creature for transport by wrapping it in a stasis field.

And a short while later, the portal closes all of a sudden.

Sure enough, the portal reopens, so we ask her to enclose it again.

Looks like we just got a key for what we didn't know happens to be a door. This is great. Probably. It means that rather than squeezing in tiny probes, we will eventually be able to send an actual ship (or a missile?) through.

We did promise Portia we would rescue her mom, after all.

"Well, let's keep it closed. Looks like we won't be able to work on the specimen until we can make a large enough stasis/isolation field..."

With the portal closed again, we are able to downgrade the alert level, and send the navy back to its usual duties.

I wonder if we...

Found the on/off switch for the [ERROR]'s portal

We don't know where the prisoners are being kept, so bombing without knowing that would be irresponsible.

Well, I meant "bombard the gate during the invasion" not "combard that continent we saw"

You know, try and hit the massed [ERROR] troops right by the gate.

Alright, moving the troops into the ships, the ships into position, and readying them took quite a few hours, so it is actually pretty late in Bastion by now, and probably a little before midnight in Alquia. I guess we could:

We promised to spend more time with Mako, but we just left Ren and these are her soldiers we're putting in harm's way, so she deserves an update more than Mako needs cuddling.
