You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A High first year student, third place in the Sports Festival's Obstacle Race, one of the horses of Team Yaoyorozu in the Cavalry Battle, and winner of the Tournament.

Not bad for a foreigner.

You certainly would have liked to do it without tearing apart your bra, but you don't know if you would have been able to. Much like your match with Momo, you can only imagine how the match would have played out if you hadn't pulled something new, quick and powerful.

All in all, between all the bruises Recovery Girl either healed or diminished and the burns in your hand and arm, you can't really shake the feeling that even though you won, you could have done better.

But those are just a few of the things bouncing inside your wooden skull.

Sure, first degree burns hurt. A lot. But you know a visit to the infirmary and a nap is all you'll need to fix that. And your bra gave up on a televised event, but you can find relief in the concrete dome Cementoss nigh-instantly raised around you and the fact that Tin brought you your backpack and the back-up sports bra within it.

Those are things you know how to deal, or at least have an idea of what to do.

But you still don't know what to make out of the memo Kyoka sent, calling for your classmates to "please be patient" with you, albeit with an even rougher language.

You don't even know what it is that you have to react to. Is it even backstabbing?...
You desperately hope it's not, but you could deal with that, even isolating yourself if needed. It wouldn't be the first time, and you have Tin this time.

If it's not…
Then you have a bigger problem. The only things you know about dealing with people is that you are terrible at it.

If it wasn't hostile, you are likely going to make it so, all while choking on your pointy boots, likely going off on your friends, or maybe talking less and hiding your accent…

>"Well, you should get going and get yourself clean for the awards ceremony." Midnight says, sliding her domino mask back into place with one hand and pointing with her free hand to the retreating stretcher robots. "If I were you, I'd like to get in and out of the infirmary before he wakes up."

She's right, you'll have to get patched up a last time and go watch Pony's match… With your friends?...

>"Besides, even if I don't tell Cementoss to drop the dome, he'll have to take it down soon and get the ring ready for the losers' match anyway." Midnight continues, straightening her back and taking a step away from the curved wall. "I hope you can sort out whatever was bothering you."

Shoving your embarrassment aside and thinking a little, one of the reasons you admire her is how confident she is, and she only took a minute to notice you were hiding your accent, so maybe she can offer some social advice if you tell her...

And I already fucked up. Wee...
---
"Actually… Think you could help me?" You start, sighing and doing your best to rub your arm without making your burns hurt too much, carefully enunciating your words and showing some vulnerability. "I don't really know what to do about it."

You do know more about expressing yourself without shoving your foot in your mouth now than you did a month ago, and it's thanks to less than an hour of Midnight's teachings.

And just like you thought you saw earlier, she seems interested, quickly looking back at you over her shoulder with a smile.

>"Are you sure you want to talk about this here?" She asks you, motioning at the concrete covered ring you are in, with the cracks you left on the surface and the concrete pieces Bakugo sent flying on his wake.

"Uh… I guess?" You answer, unsure and somewhat defeated. "I can't really take much off your time with the next match coming, can I?"

>"First, drop the act. The rough Hokkaido accent suits you better." She says, turning around and walking towards you before jabbing you with her finger right between the eyes. "Second, I don't think the kids in the third and fourth places will have issues with extra time to prepare, nor will Ishiyama."

"What about the crowd? And ending the tournament?" You ask her, craning your neck back and going cross eyed to look at her finger.

>"Oh no, Yamada will have to entertain a crowd, pour soul. How will he manage?" She replies, sounding both innocent and sarcastic. "Besides, it's a sports festival. It can wait a bit longer."

"But Ah don't think…" You try to argue before she pulls you into a hug.

She hasn't said anything about the issue itself, but you already feel a lot better.

>"No buts! I'm a teacher and a hero before anything else, if I can't make time to offer a bit of counsel it means I've messed up at some point." She says before letting you go with a pat on the back. "Let's walk and talk… And don't tell anyone I hugged you here. Some moms like to look for anything to get me kicked out the school."

>"Your needs need to be addressed before anything else." Tin chimes in, pushing your backpack against your ankle and pulling it to the side, rolling in. "Next are your desires. Others can be considered after that."

>"That voice makes everything sound unnerving." Midnight comments as you put on the rugged backpack and follow her, pressing her hand against her earpiece. "Ishiyama, feel free to take the dome down, everything is in order now. Yamada, I'm letting you know taking a break… Your job, Aizawa… When she feels fetter… Good luck with that… I don't think she needs to see Inui, but I'll tell her. I'll let you know when I'm done."

"What was all that?" You ask her as the dome quickly sinks and melts into the ring, exposing both of you to the world again.

As you were kind of expecting, there was some clear disappointment in a loud enough portion of the crowd, but you shrug it off. Midnight however, strikes a pose and gets the spotlight and male attention away from you.

>"Nothing you have to worry about." She replies, holding her flogger behind her neck and sashaying her way down the ring's steps. "Now, what's going on between those horns of yours?"

As you enter the gates back into the the inside of the stadium, you try to parse what to say.

>What do you do?

Damn.
Sorry for the mess that was last thread's death. Work got worse than ever and I went days without being able to sit down and do anything in peace for longer than a few minutes.
Last thread died too young, thus, this .5 thread to fix that.

Should be better now.

It takes you about half a minute to decide what to say, as you don't really think Kyoka's intent was malicious and you don't want Midnight to think otherwise, but the heroine doesn't pressure you, choosing to walk by your side in silence as you make your way to the infirmary.

"My friend Jiro… A while ago she sent some texts to the rest of the class askin' for their patience when talkin' to me! Ah know she meant well, but the text itself was mighty rude, and Ah no longer know who actually likes to hang out with me!" You tell her, hanging your head low and sighing. "Ah hurt folks' feelin's when Ah try to be supportive, and now Ah fahnd out Ah might have been doin' it more than Ah'd realahzed..."

>"That's not good, but I won't say I'm not relieved. When I heard you hiding your accent I thought you were being bullied for it" She replies after a second, her voice sounding softer than normal. "We try to end bullying as soon as we find it, you know? Some banter and rough play is allowed, and is up to each class' homeroom teacher to draw the line, but it can be awful for a student's confidence if left unchecked. Always terrible, but especially devastating on the hero courses..."

She then sighs and looks at you with a smile.

>"I guess I should have figured it wasn't that what was bothering you." She continues with a giggle.

"But Ah just told you..." You try to interject, but she cuts you off.

>"Hang on, let me finish." She says, motioning with her hands for you to calm down. "You are too full of moxie to have some rude language get under your skin. No, you are biting your tongue for the last thing you said, that's what got to you."

For a split second, you consider denying it.

Then you look at Midnight's face and how easily her expression subtly shifts from a calm and collected one to a softer and more compassionate one as your eyes meet.

You are sure you could get away with it if you tried.

"...Yeah." You admit instead, closing your eyes and pinching the bridge of your nose. "Ah know Ah'm no good dealin' with folks, but Ah've messed up twice just today! What if all o' my classmates… Most o' my classmates are just playin' nice?"

>"Well, how did you find out?" Midnight asks you, placing her hands on your shoulders and pulling you close, probably to keep you from walking into something.

"One of my classmates let it slip after the last time Ah messed up and one of the gals stormed off mad…" You tell her, taking your hands off your face. "Said that she must not have gotten the memo. Then it was just a couple questions till he spilled the beans and showed me the texts on his phone."

>"Did someone reply?" Midnight quickly asks you.

"...No?" You answer, trying to pick your own brain for a decent picture of the screen. "Mighty sure no one sent anythin' back."

>"And you friend stormed off, mad- Sorry." Midnight continues and apologizes after seeing you wince. "Thing is… I don't think anyone gave it much importance. People, and especially kids are really terrible at hiding disdain. You would have noticed if anyone was actually grinding their teeth, even if you would… what was the phrase… <buy a bridge> from them?"

"Ah wouldn't-" You try to argue, before folding like a wet napkin before her raising eyebrow, slumping your shoulders. "...Ah would be planing where to put the toll booths."

>"Don't worry, Walker, you are getting better." The heroine reassures you. "You just have to work on handling yourself better without losing your own charm..."

And for the first time since you started walking with her, she looks unsure. Confidently unsure though, almost pensive.

>"Sorry. It's just the first time I've tried to motivate a girl." She says with a giggle, scratching the back of her neck. "Feels far more personal than winking at the boys to get them to give their 110%... Although, I have to admit, I love doing that."

You can't help but join her this time as she giggles again, feeling better for a whole 5 seconds.

"But, even if none of them gave much of a heck, Ah still get everybody mad at me whenever Ah open my piehole…" You tell her, bringing yourself down again with your own laments.

>"Hey, hey! Chin up!" Midnight tells you, making you look up to her for a moment. "You know what the problem is, so-

"Mahself?" You interrupt her, to her obvious dismay. "...Sorry, Ah'll shut up now."

>"Don't spin it like that, I told you already, you need to work on your social skills, not need to tear yourself down." She reassures you. "It's all about learning and growing, improving upon yourself… Ah, perfect!"

You can only tilt your head at the non sequitur in the end, before realizing what was that Midnight was looking at. Then you see her approach a glass covered billboard, full of small bits of paper behind the glass, all illuminated by a row of small lights within it. Then she reaches behind it and the lights turn off, turning it into a pretty functional mirror.

>"Don't stop being Walker Ushi, the starry eyed American Cowgirl with an endearing accent that prefers putting on a show instead of a shirt and wouldn't have problems breaking anyone that tried to do more than looking." She continues, placing a hand on your shoulder and pointing at your abs in your reflection. It's hard to not puff out your chest and flex, so you don't even try. "Build on top of that. Practice in front of a mirror or join a club or get a part time job if you have the time. Add "sweet talker" to the mix of who you are without taking anything else out."

It doesn't sound like an easy road, but compared to how you had no idea about what to do a few minutes ago, it's welcome guidance.

>"And about your friend… Well, it sounds pretty obvious that you aren't going to begrudge her, but you should talk this out with her to be sure. And if there's any issues you need help working out, I'm sure Inui would be glad to offer some guidance." Midnight concludes, reaching back behind the billboard and turning the lights on again. "Now let's pick up the pace, no need to keep the expectators waiting more than needed."

"...Thank you." You tell her, giving a small but respectful bow before walking away from the billboard for the last few dozen feet to Recovery Girl's.

>"Don't mention it. One of the best things of working here is seeing you younglings give everything to reach the top, it'd be a shame to have such an exciting prospect like you willingly go bland." She waves it off with a smile before turning around and going back the way you came.

As Midnight retreats back to the ring to referee the last match of the tournament a bothersome thought crosses your mind.

"I would totally give my 120% if you winked at me" You think, but bite your tongue.

Even you know it would make things unnecessarily awkward, maybe even give her the impression that your barn door swings the wrong way.

Instead you just watch her go for a second, then turn around and open the door to the infirmary.

>"Hey! Co-" You hear Sero's voice as soon as you start opening the door, followed by a rather loud hush. "Sorry!... Congratulations Walker!"

"How did you know?..." You start asking, wondering how Sero knew you were the one opening the door, but cut yourself off to ask a different question. "Wait, why are you still here?"

Even after changing questions on the fly, you aren't sure you asked the right one.

Sero still sitting shirtless on the edge of the bed is certainly odd, but the fact that Recovery Girl is poking Bakugo's hand with the end of her cane is probably the weirder thing in the room.

>"There's not been any other matches since the finals, so I was pretty sure it'd be you." Sero explains as you shuffle around Bakugo's bed to check what was happening there. "Also, Recovery Girl treated me, but Tsunotori squeezed my guts like a toothpaste tube, so I still don't trust myself to go anywhere more than two minutes away from a toilet."

"Uh…" You say, more to acknowledge that you heard him than anything else. "Thanks… Ah really needed to hear that?"

>"You asked." He answers, shrugging.

"So… What's goin' on here?" You ask Recovery Girl as you walk around her.

>"I've many students start fuming when they wake up after losing." Recovery Girl explains, pointing at Bakugo's hand with her cane. "Not that many that start before waking up."

From your new perspective, you can clearly hear him growling as well as seeing him claw and pull at the sheets, almost as if he wanted to strangle the cloth before Recovery Girl gently presses the back of his wrist with her cane, making him let go of the sheet.

Then she turns towards you.

>"Now, I hoped I wouldn't have to see you in a while, deary." The Youthful Heroine says softly, before looking at your hands and arm. "But some injuries really can't be helped, can't they?"

"Ah swear ah tried to stay in one piece." You reply, keeping your voice low as well.

>"Well then, let's see what you got there…" The nurse says, walking over to her desk and hopping onto her chair, motioning for you to present your arms, which you do.

"Some stinging burns, Ah reckon. " You tell her, showing her the patches of skin that no longer matches your skin tone. "Can Ah get patched up and still go watch mah pal's match, please? Ah really don't wanna hit the hay again just yet."

Oops.
Sorry, trip fell off.

>"I'll see what I can do, deary, but I still have to check how bad are those burns and clean them up." Recovery Girl points out. "If the other option is to leave you with an open wound… Well, I'll make sure to wake you up before the awards ceremony."

While it's not what you wanted, you just nod. Since your solution would be to slather some honey on it and pray that the ants don't find you, you are more than willing to let her tend to your burns.

As she carefully looks at your arms, you quickly get bored, tapping your foot and barely waiting a minute before opening your mouth again.

"Oh no, Ah guess Ah really can't check mah phone…" You say, sounding as fake and insincere as you could, rolling your eyes and overacting enough for Recovery Girl to look at you like she was considering an MRI.

You just smirk and wait, feeling your backpack immediately start moving.and wobbling on your back in response.

>"Do you require assistance, Mistress?" Tin quickly answers, pulling itself to the top of your backpack with its tail and pushing the lid open with your phone, holding it with both of its hands.

"How did you know?" You playfully tease the robot, who doesn't seem to care. "Tin, sugar, open mah texts please."

As expected, Tin just rolls out of your backpack and over to Recovery Girl's desktop, pointing the screen at your face. However, Instead of interacting with the screen for you, the phone just unlocks itself and displays your texts.

"Huh. Nifty." You comment, tilting your head to the left a bit. "Uh… Tin, open the conversation with <Pa>."

>"Would you like for me to narrate any unread messages?" Tin asks as the phone's display shifts to show you the conversation in question.

"Nah, Ah'm fine." You answer, briefly wondering if you should be worried about the implications of Tin seemingly being in full control of your phone before focusing on the texts themselves.

>"<Heya, sweetie! I hope you don't actually carry your phone into the whole sports festival thing, but I couldn't sit here and watch without wishing you good luck, you know?>" Says the first one, bringing a smile to your face.

>"<I guess it was almost as much of a fight as it was a race, but I got to admit, I really didn't expect you to throw that little kid under the bus like that. And I sure hope that runner guy you hitched a ride on didn't ask for anything in return.>" Continues the second one, a bit more confusing, until you realize you haven't actually talked about Mineta's insidiousness with your folks.

Then a third text, right after the last one. Not even ten seconds later.

>"<If he did though, feel free to follow your momma's advice on that one.>" It says. Luckily for everyone involved, Iida has never been anything but polite. Or incredibly awkward, but you can't really judge people on that one in good conscience.

>"<I know that when you enlarge yourself it's pretty draining, but it feels me with pride when I see you get some quick and clever use out of my half of your quirk. Hard not to be proud when your kid surpasses you, you know? I'm mighty sure I couldn't outrun a glacier when I get to that size, but you get your pink pal to do that and flush everyone around without looking like a guy in a rubber suit pretending to be a giant in a model city.>" The next message says, obviously about the Cavalry Battle, making you wish there was less of a planet between you.

You miss being able to hug your Pa.
Thinking about it fills you with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, almost strong enough to allow you to ignore the smell of of the disinfectant Recovery Girl applied to your burns.

>"<I'm not sure if I should congratulate you on almost embedding someone in a wall, but it's not like you can de-escalate or hold back in an exhibition match. Scary move though, does it hurt?>" The next one says, several minutes later.

While you know your Momma to be a really passionate and emotional person, Pa has always been one to take a step back and think things through, rarely getting mad or confrontational, so it doesn't surprise you that he's not a fan of using overwhelming force.

>"<I really hope this Recovery Girl is as good as Kat says she is. I know you can take it, but you aren't looking so good and there's a ways to go. I just hope you don't get frostbite from that.>" He says on the next text, followed by another one a few minutes later.

>"Pretty sure my girl was a bit more huggable when she left home. But now I get to boast that my little girl is stronger than the Titanic, so I guess it checks out."

>"You know, Japanese rodeo is pretty different to what I expected, you know? Just kidding, You are almost at the top of the podium! By the way, if your momma ever feels like you telling again how I'm to blame for your name, remind her of that Pony girl and that someone else had a similar idea. And I still maintain that Ushi is a cute name." Reads another one, obviously sent after your match against Pony.

The last one is far harder to understand, as you feel Recovery Girl finishing mummifying your arms and kiss your thumb, with the familiar feeling of sudden exhaustion hitting you over the head as you try to make sense of the mess that the last text is.

The only thing you can make out is "A SHIRT!!!" before your forehead hits the desk, replacing the stinging pain of the burns with a tiny headache.

>"There you go, dearie." Recovery Girl tells you, patting you on the shoulder. "You should have energy to make it past the awards ceremony."

"Phanks..." You reply, holding your head in your hands and willing yourself to stay upright, even though after all your treatments you've had today it feels like you spent a straight day and a night running nonstop. "Gotta go now, sorry..."

>"Do you want to dictate a reply, Mistress?" Tin asks, pointing at your phone with its tail.

"Uh… Not now pal..." You reply, rubbing your eyes with one hand and picking both the robot and your phone with the other, carefully letting them fall inside your backpack before shuffling towards the door. "<G'bye y'all>…"

You aren't sure if you dragged your feet fast enough to get out before either Sero or Recovery Girl returned the sentiment, or you just didn't hear it, but it takes a backseat to following the signs and making it to Class B's seats in your mind.

Luckily for you, a few minutes of walking and a Gummy Bear acquired by Tin do wonders to wipe the cobwebs off your head, letting you actually get to the seats before the match starts, even when taking the extra stairs to approach them from behind and surprise them.

>"Hey, Walker, come to brag?" Monoma says before you get near to the empty seat that you assume to be Pony's. "I guess if someone from class A had to win, you are better than that loudmouth asshole."

If you were less surprised, you would have giggled at the sight of Itsuka raising her hand and then slowly lowering it, glaring at Monoma.

>"Really though, what are you doing here?" The redhead asks, sounding genuinely curious.

"It's been a while, so Ah just came here to hang out with y'all and cheer my pal Pony with her other friends." You tell the redhead, scooting to the empty seat by her side. "How's it going, Monoma? Enjoyin' the tournament?"

>"Fantastic!" Monoma says, flourishing his hand over his shoulder. "I'll get to see the face of at least one of you class A kids when Tsunotori takes the third place from you!"

You may be terribly tired, but you are mighty sure that having taken the first place yourself and with Bakugo in second place, that's pretty dumb.

You open your mouth, about to point it out, then you feel a hand on your shoulder. Looking to your side, Itsuka's slow head shake silently tells you to stop.

>"Shh… Let him have that much." She tells you, leaning close to your ear, almost bumping into your horn stump and earning a nod from you. "Nice job on the ring by the way, I wasn't expecting half the tricks you pulled off. It was a valuable lesson though."

"Thanks!" You say, with a tired yet wide smile. "So, what did you learn?"

>"It confirmed something I'd been thinking about the whole tournament." Itsuka answers, tapping her chin. "If I ever have to face you, I'm slamming your face into the floor before you know I'm there. Unless it's in a ring, then I'd have to keep your hands away from everything..."

"...Yeah, Ah get it." You say, nodding awkwardly. "Ah kinda did that to Momo."

>"I'm not so sure." Monoma butts in, looking at you over his shoulder. "The fatal flaw in all plans is their dependence in knowing how much your enemy knows, and Walker's many victories can easily be attributed to this."

>"Bro, I'm pretty sure she was a few centimeters short of smacking Yaoyorozu into the masonry without any plan." Tetsutetsu chimes in as he turns towards you, his words a bit muddled by the fact that he's munching on some jerky. "Congrats on the win! That guy needed to be knocked down a peg."

You can't help but wince at the reminder of what you did to Momo, even if she didn't mind it that much herself.

>"Please, hear me out." Monoma continues, slowly moving his hands in a placating manner. "Most quirks can easily be summarized by a single phrase, like "Shrink and Enlarge yourself or anything at melee range". It's not wrong, and it's easy to remember, but it leaves out many important additional effects of the quirk, like how growing propelled her during the finals. It's a hidden technique to surprise your opponents with, like how it can affect the arena. Not something to dedicate major focus to, but it's a nice dagger under the belt to blindside your opponents and their battleplans."

Feeling tired, and now confused, you just nod slowly and accept a jerky strip from Tetsutetsu, nodding the exact same way.

>"Hey, here they come!" Tetsutetsu points out as the last participants get out of their gates.

Knowing that your pal is about to get into the brand new concrete ring, you take the chance to stretch your back and crack your neck, noticing the girl at your left recoil and literally shrink away at the groaning of your spine.

"Howdy?" You greet the black haired girl, getting back an emotionless blank stare and a small wave.

...It somehow feels familiar.

>"Here they come!" Itsuka

When you found out that the losers bracket would take place after the finals, you were slightly worried.

If this was happening in America, it would had to be before the finals to keep the viewership up, but the crowd in the stadium doesn't seem to have thinned at all, there's not quite as much roaring and cheering for Pony and Fumikage as they take their places as the finals got, but it still is enough to make your not really sensitive ears buzz from your new seat.

Maybe soccer tourneys worked this way too. You wouldn't know.

>"THE FINAL MATCH, A LONG AWAITED BRAWL FOR THE LAST FREE SPOT ON THE PODIUM!!! TOKOYAMI VERSUS TSUNOTORI!!!" Present Mic shouts, not sounding any less enthusiastic. Yet you can't shake the feeling that that was a jab at Midnight. "WILL THE HORSE RUN HOME!!!? OR WILL THE CROW SCREAM FROM THE BENCH!!!? WE ARE ABOUT TO FIND OUT!!!"

"GO GET YOUR MEDAL GAL!" You shout, jumping from your seat as Pony charges forwards, taking a clear and straightforward offence.

Maybe too straightforwards, as Dark Shadow has little trouble meeting her in the middle and making you gasp and cover your mouth.

The monster grabbed her by the horns!

>"...That's gonna backfire on him, innit?" Tetsutetsu asks, for some reason.

>"If she didn't against Walker, I doubt she will now." Monoma replies, shaking his head. "Not that she shouldn't, but she doesn't want to."

You briefly glance at the slightly smaller girl, not sure what to think about someone with the same quirk. A month ago you wouldn't have thought it possible, but a quick look at Tetsutetsu makes it easier to shrug off, and considering that the girl will still attend U.A., you leave that for later.

Unlike the girl, the conversation happening around you won't stay to think about later.

"So… Anyone mind tellin' me what'cha talking about right now?" You ask, hoping someone would tell you what is that Pony didn't do in your match.

>"Um… I'm not sure we should." Itsuka tells you, looking at the ring but still dragging her words just enough to be a bit off putting, even without looking at you.

Following suit, you can still see the end of Pony's charge, with her being stopped and held by the horns. It makes your skull itch and your face heat up a bit, but luckily it doesn't last long, since Dark Shadow lifts her off her hooves.

It instantly makes all shame vanish, being replaced with worry.

>"...Well, if she's going to do it today, it'll be now." Monoma says, barely glancing at you before clasping his hands together under his in a way that oozes pride, almost like he was talking down to you, but just inoffensive enough for you to not have grounds to get angry about it. Somehow, it feels intentional. "Think back to what I was saying early, we all wield our quirks like a sword, and you used your quirk's additional features as a hidden dagger to blindside your foes."

Down on the ring, you can see the nigh-fluid form of Dark Shadow quickly bend down, winding up for a throw. But Pony seems to have a different plan, as she sticks out her tongue and focuses, causing a small puff of vapor to burst out off the base of her horns AS THEY DETACH AND SPEED AWAY!!!

"<JESUS H. CHRIST, WHAT HECK!?>" You eloquently put your feelings into words, expressing just how surprised and intrigued you are as calmly as the situation calls for.

>"AND I DIDN'T KNOW SHE COULD DO THAT!!!" Present Mic yells, sounding more excited than surprised. "HOW MANY SURPRISES ARE YOU STILL KEEPING FROM US, AIZAWA!!!?"

>"...That one's Kan's, Mic." Your homeroom teacher points out.

>"Tsunotori was swinging hers in her scabbard." Monoma continues with a sigh, propping his chin up with his fist and turning to look at you, smiling. " Ah… I wish I had a camera."

And you can't blame him, you can't even imagine what does your face look like right now, as Pony picks herself up while Dark Shadow is shot back with the pair of flying horns, almost pulling Fumikage with it before it can let them go.

"WHY!?" You ask, feeling your eyes starting to dry as you watch unblinkingly.

>"It's still too sharp and unwieldy for her." Monoma replies, unapologetically relishing the chance to be needlessly obscure.

Or so you think. He's clearly looking far too smug for your liking, but there seems to be a certain literal veracity to what he said, as Pony puts her hands next to the base…

They are halfway back already.

You certainly don't feel envious at all as she puts her hands next to her new horns, mimicking a second or third pair and looks beyond the recovering Tokoyami, focusing on her still flying projectile horns instead of her unbalanced enemy.

It took you a second to notice it, but the horns start moving unnaturally, wobbly turning to the side as Pony carefully tilts her head in the same direction.

But they never get to turn around, as Tokoyami and Dark Shadow recover, with the later flying low to the distracted blonde and janking her hoofs from under her, dragging her over the concrete towards the edge and breaking Pony's concentration in whatever she was doing, letting the horns keep flying at high speed towards the crowd.

You don't get to worry about that however, as a foot wide vertical concrete slab shoots up from the ring's border, intercepting the projectiles before they can cause any harm.

That's when you understand what Monoma was saying, as the tip of the horns can be seen protruding at least two inches from the back of the slab.

>"So, what do think, Walker?" Monoma asks, still paying more attention to your reaction than the fight itself.

"...Headgun." You mutter in awe, seemingly blindsiding him.

>"What?" He asks, with his smug expression being replaced by a confused one.

>"Something american, I bet." Itsuka answers, shrugging.

Seeing her being lifted by her hooves, you aren't surprised by Pony's reaction, slamming her bandaged hands on the ring and realigning her body, getting ready for a devastating kick.

"C'mon!" You cheer, clenching your fists and hoping to be louder than the rest of the crowd.

Or Tetsutetsu, who hops off his seat, shaking his fist in the air and screaming things that you aren't sure are words.

While she clearly has taken more of a beating during the whole tournament, you seriously doubt that Fumikage's frame would be able to take a direct buck and stay upright.

But she's just a tad too slow, as Dark Shadow whips to the side, dragging her as it built momentum before letting her go, not allowing her to pull off her kick and slamming her just on the ring's boundaries, with her torso outside.

While a small part of you feels disappointed, you are mostly glad that it doesn't end with one of your friends in a stretcher.

>"AGH! She should have just used it! What's one puncture wound with Recovery Girl close by!?" Tetsutetsu yells before letting himself fall to his seat, scowling.

>"She'll do much better next year." Itsuka assures, sighing.

And as Midnight checks on Pony and Fumikage approaches her for the normal courtesies, you notice that you aren't the only one who hasn't said anything yet. Then you look at the silent Monoma, seeing Itsuka's hand on his shoulder.

There are many things running through your head right now, maybe too many, you think as the ideas, insights and imaginations clash within your tired mind before one train of thought runs over the rest.

With the courtesies over, after almost reaching the floor with the tips of her horns as she returned Fumikage's bow, you can see Pony walk back towards her gate.

And that's all you need to know.

"Gotta-go-bye!" You say to the confused members of Class B around you, jumping to your feet and running around them, dashing to meet your friend as soon as possible

>"But she's coming ba-" Itsuka tries to argue.

"Too slow, can't wait!" You yell, running down the stairs back into the inner parts of the stadium, slowing down just a bit to avoid waking up at Recovery Girl's again.

Stairs have become an ever growing threat to your safety since the day genetics decided looking at your feet just wasn't for you.

But it's just another thing that doesn't matter, just like the almost ghostly aches all over your non-visibly-hurt body, or the resistance offered by your eyelids every time you try to open your eyes after blinking.

You are far more excited than tired, firmly gripping your backpack straps, trying to keep Tin, the miniaturized school supplies and other miscellaneous things you keep at hand from bouncing too much as you dash towards the gate and your friend, running into her a few turns before you reach the gate itself.

>"Wha-OOF!?" She cries as you crash into her, hugging her midsection and taking her down. "Ow…"

Not quite a crash though, as your valiant attempt to perform a flying-tackle-hug combination is mostly a success, even though it ends with both of you on the floor, with Pony ending under you.

>"<Oh, hey Ushi.>" She says, looking around alarmed before hugging you back softly."<I guess I didn't make it to the podium, huh?>"

A brief curiosity about what was she looking for passes through your mind, but you quickly let it go.

"<What was that?! It was amazing! Do it again! Does it sound like shotgun reload or like a pop?! Does it hurt? Why didn't you shoot me!? Tell me all 'bout it!>" You excitedly demand, hugging her tight and shaking her side to side. "<Tell me, Tell me, Tell me!!...Uh?>"

With a sound that you could only compare to an airsoft gun, one of Pony's horns detaches, shooting straight for an instant before slowing down and turning around, slowly getting back towards the two of you and poking you in the shoulder, then pointing down…

Towards the slightly bluefaced Pony, staring at you with wide eyes and puffed cheeks.

"<Shit! Sorry!>" You apologize, letting her go and looking at the large floating horn, before looking at her almost fully regrown horn on her head, then back to the horn, poking it. "<So cool...>"

>"<Y-you think?>" She asks, gasping for breath but not looking away from the floating horn. "<It's not really useful against people. They go, like, through metal and stuff...>"

"<Ah think it's real freaking cool...>" You tell her, slowly grabbing the horn and looking at it.

No bone nor irrigation visible at the base. Odd, but considering how horrifying it'd be if you could see those things, you are fine with them being gigantic nails connected to her skull.

Then the horn flies up, pulling you up with it and slowly flying in circles and bobbing up and down, almost like a carousel.

"<Didn't you get two to turn on stage though?" You ask her, grabbing the horn with both hands, enjoying the ride of her demonstration.

>"<I still have to focus to fully control one, but it's too hard to wrangle two." She explains staring at the horn as it twirls through the air, pulling you as you giggle. "<But Vlad-sensei says I can do even more with more training!>

>What do you do?

>[It's been fun, but it'll be better to address this ASAP, even if it'll kill the mood. "<What was that you wanted to talk about?>"]
>[Eh, it seems pretty forgotten to you. Just have fun and goof around! "<So, you were dragging yourself earlier? How much weight can they carry?... Do you think you can control a giant horn!?>"]
>[Encourage and compliment her! "<He's goddamn right! You can be like… like… Got it! Snipe and Gunhead! At the same time! Pew! Pew! You just gotta get a better grip on those controls of yours!>"]
>[Just congratulate her and go get ready for the awards ceremony (Skip to the awards ceremony.)]
