/qst/ - Quests

This quest will obviously take place in the Pokemon universe. What you need to know, is that it will be taking place in a region of my own making with everything that goes along with that. The goal of this quest will be a simple one. Go on your journey. And figure out your goals along the way. Whether you want to win it all and call yourself a Pokemon Master... Or just live a comfortable life with your team and your friends. It's up to you.

>Rules
I will write up the life of our newly generated MC, an eighteen year old guy whose just begun his career as a trainer. You will be given prompts to direct him.
Some things will require a dice roll to determine success or failure or something else entirely. Write In's are absolutely encouraged but I reserve the right to torpedo anything.

>My Twitter
I'll post run times and updates about run times here! And not much else. I wont clog up your timeline.

>Pastebin
This pastebin (when I make it) will detail everything there is to know about all of your pokemon, items, and other important things about the MC, plus all of the mechanics. So give it a look! It'll only get more complex and important over time.

>Disclaimer: If you've played Gobble's quests than you already have a pretty good idea of what to expect from this place. Were going to take elements from both the anime and the games, and things will be more """realistic""". So imagine things like this. Every pokemon and trainer is unique. There's no hard limit on how much any pokemon can do. Mons that are trash ingame can be powerful here. HMs don't exist. And Gym Leaders are all extremely powerful trainers in their own right. Their job is to test you. I realize this can make things a bit unpredictable but that's fine. It'll be fun!

"Hello and Welcome to the wonderful world of Pokemon!"

You nearly wave back to the image of the friendly looking old man on screen but the video blips off as soon as it begins. "Okay, I changed my mind. It makes no sense to watch this old thing if you're the only one here. Not to mention, you're too old for this. This is an intro video for young kids." Professor Ivy clicks the lights on with a remote and kicks off of her desk in her chair making her roll over to your comfortable position on the old couch instead. "How about we just get this questionnaire finished while we've still got the lab to ourselves hmm? Easier to answer honestly that way. And I've known you for far too long for you to fudge your answers."

While Professor Ivy reads through the beginning of the forms on her tablet, you try to relax with all the excitement bubbling up in the pit of your stomach and take a deep breath. It always smells so good in here. Not what you would expect from some sterile laboratory. It's like the old wood this place was made from is still living, producing fresh oxygen and that woodsy smell you just can't fake. And the lab equipment snaking through the place creates a juxtaposition you always liked.

"Alright then, first question. Are you a boy or a girl?" Of course she doesn't even wait for a response, and checks the box that reads Boy. "So outdated... these old things were made as a 'one size fits all' solution around fifty years ago. The more years that pass, the more kids your age are taking their journeys. It's better this way honestly. The more mature and sensible you trainers are when you start out, the less we hear of tragic accidents involving wild pokemon and the like."

It's true, you hate hearing news about how a new trainer got into a nasty accident with an Ursaring or something every year. You also breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that you won't be sticking out among a crowd of school children. Though the tests for a trainer license thin younger kids out. "So, next up, they need to know about your money situation. You could qualify for some assistance if you need it. I'll take care of the complicated info, just tell me, hows the family?"

"Mom and dad are great, as they always have been. Everyone's really been smothering me at the house lately. Even sis, she tried to act like she was glad to see me go but now she won't leave me alone for longer than a day. It took some doing just to convince her to let me come up here on my own. "

Ivy just waves off your sisters behavior with a slight smile on her face. "Oh that girls always had issues with her own feelings. Not surprising, she had to step in to take care of you quite a bit when you were younger. Don't mind her. Just make sure to say goodbye properly before you get on the road. How's your mother's art business? Commissions still rolling in?"

You nod, smiling to yourself as well now. "They never stop, she was on that morning show one time and now her waiting list never ends. She's kinda tired. But really happy." Though you've never seen anyone so happy to be covered in paint.

"And I've seen your father recently on my last lecture at the trainer school. He's got a passion for teaching that just doesn't wane. I'm very happy to hear everyone is in high spirits. Oh, and Amber's internship starts soon so call the lab every once and a while. She'll be glad to hear from you directly."

The prof smoothly lifts one leg over the other as she switches topics. "So, onto the next question. Hmm. Okay, so they want some background... Ugh, this droll thing really is over fifty years old. Sorry about this but it needs to be filled out. It's part of the rules. I can fill out the boring things but tell me, which one of these archetypes do you think fits you the best? I know this must be a bit embarrassing but I need you to answer truthfully."

She hands you her tablet, showing you the laundry list of archetypes. Everything from Bug Maniacs to Pokemon Breeders. But you can narrow it down.

>Choose an Archetype

A smile begins to form on your face as soon as you spot the Ace Trainer response. It even asks for your ID number they gave you when you achieved ACE status back in trainer school. It's been a while but you still remember. And you're ready to finally put that title to the real test. As you type in the number code Ivy just shakes her head, chuckling to herself.

"I shouldn't have even asked. You really earned that title in school. And I know how long you've been waiting for today."

Straightening your cap you flash a full grin, you just can't help it! "You know it. I've been waiting to get out there for 5 years. Today's the day. I can't wait to get started."

"And you're going into this more well prepared then most. Your schooling in the ACE program and those extra years of studying will put you ahead of the crowd. I fully expect to see you on tv at the end of the year, young man." She winks slyly.

You throw up a gloved hand in a mock salute. "I won't let you down. Or myself for that matter." You smile as you think back to those years. The Accelerated Curriculum Engagement program. Or the ACE program. It's just as it's called, an accelerated program for trainer school, earning an early license. Those were the days, being in the program kind of painted a target on your back as an over achiever, but that's their problem.

"So, have you given any thought to your starter partner? Type advantage is a fickle thing in reality, and when you bring dual typing into play it all becomes a little complicated." She leans her head on one hand, waiting for your answer.

"Oh, I'm well aware of that Professor. I'm also aware, that the pokemon chosen for starters, change every year." It sorta makes you feel like a dork but you kinda like tests

She nods approvingly like the teacher she is. "Good boy."

"And now were almost done. Not quite as lengthy as I remember. And before I forget." Ivy stands and walks over to a safe under her desk, fiddling with it before retrieving something and slamming it shut. She strides back over and hands you a very familiar red device with a very slim profile. A brand new model of pokedex. "Remember, you only get one of these for free, you break it or lose it, be prepared to pay out the nose for a replacement."

She slides her tablet onto a coffee table and checks her watch before stretching out the stiffness from sitting in a chair all morning. "We made good time, it's just about time to open the front doors. But I notice you've brought a little something extra with your gear. A gift? What did you bring me?~ I tease. But whatever it is, I'm sure it's helpful. What is it?"

You pat the incubator strapped down to your backpack. "Sis found this egg out in the wilds around the town when she was on one of her 'expeditions'. She said I should take care of it. She said the incubator will do most of the work but it hasn't moved since she brought it to me."

Ivy observes it quickly. "I wouldn't worry, It looks as healthy as can be. Was there something else?"

"Amber also gave me some stones from her collection. Told me their better suited with me since they might get used, rather than gathering dust in a box." It looks like she put several stones in this box.

"Other than that, I brought the only things that matter, these-" You point to your feet. Or the shoes on them to be exact. "And this-" You tap your finger to the side of your head."

The prof sighs but smiles regardless. "Yes, well there's a pokemart in town so be sure to visit before you get on the road."

"Well, there are a couple things." You admit, pulling off your cap. It's black with a white bill, the white stylized emblem of a pokeball is front and center on it, topped by a large crown. "This here is a rare championship cap. Not many of these out there. They were given away to only a few audience members at the Siroh League championships a few years back."

"And you've kept it looking immaculate." She wipes a finger across the bill, as if checking it for dust. "I remember that year, you were so excited to go and see the Elite 4 battling in person. Did you learn anything from that night?"

Of course you did. That you have a long way to go. "I saw the top. Caught a glimpse of it, Prof. And that's where I'm heading."

"Heh, well said, Terry."

"Oh, and I got this." You fish out the stone from your pocket. Holding up the murky orb in the florescent light of the lab. "Found this little guy buried in our orchard after we came back from the championship match. Figured it must've been lucky. But now it's a little mystery. Stone appraisers say it's junk but still not normal rock. Interesting, right?"

"Of course, I expect a call as soon as you figure it out."

"You got it, Prof."

[Champ's Cap confers bonuses to crits in pokemon battles, and earns you rapport with battle enthusiasts. Mysterious Rock is exactly that, a mystery. Perhaps you should find someone capable of cleaning it up and appraising it.]
[The Mystery Egg is being kept warm in it's incubator. Keep it safe. It seems close to hatching!]
[The stone set contains several useful stones. Fire, Water, Leaf, Thunder, Moon, Dawn, and Ice. Use them, give them away, sell them. But they're quite rare. Be sure when you expend one.]

"Excellent. I'm sure they'll serve you well, wherever the road takes you." Ivy perks up as you both hear the excited chatter of a small crowd from downstairs. "The assistants must've opened up. This time of year never fails to excite me! Oh, but don't worry. I promised you first pick of the year. Didn't I? Oh but before we do that."

She waves you over to a small computer setup next to a pretty small machine, she links up her tablet and after a minute or so of typing. The small machine next to the computer spits out a fresh new Trainer card. It even feels warm in your hand as you turn it over and see your name and ID number printed out on it. "Getting your Trainer card replaced won't be quick or easy so keep that in a well protected place okay? Now, it's time for the fun bit."

Ivy leads you over to the center of all of the machinery upstairs. All kinds of tubes and wires lead into a circular machine. A large glass casing shows you rows and rows of marked pokeballs. Ivy enters several different passwords on the main interface of the machine and produces a key from her cleavage to activate it. It automatically spits out three balls, each one labeled with a different type symbol followed by a dash and the number one.

"The League finally sprang for extra security. You have no idea how many starters are stolen every year, and usually by young trainers. Well, shall we go over your choices?"

"I'm as ready as ever prof!" You're so excited! Your heartbeat is going nuts! Your first pokemon, not one of your parent's mons. Or one of Amber's. Yours.

In one fluid motion, she scoops up all three of the red and white orbs and releases the pokemon inside. When the light coalesces into shapes you see three familiar pokemon in front of you.

The grass type looks at you with guarded but curious eyes, even at a distance you can smell the scent of fresh cut grass rolling off of Chikorita. Though when you hold out your hand it sniffs and turns up it's nose. But still accepts your head pats. What's with this pokemon's attitude anyway? It wants attention but only so much?

Next is Litten. You don't even have to approach it, it's already nipping at your pant-leg and trying to draw your attention away from the others. It hops all around whenever your not patting it or scratching it behind the ears, which it seems to love. It even keeps making these cute little mewing sounds.

And finally, Froakie. Who is currently asleep. Shrugging, you stroke Froakie's back and it's big eyes open slowly and close slowly once again, relaxing completely once it knows who's touching it. Eventually it starts making these noises like it's vibrating on the floor. Do Froakie purr? Regardless, it turned to putty in your hands quick so it has to like you.

Ivy, whose been keeping quiet while you mingle with the starters walks up and kneels down next to them. "What do you think? I was on the expedition that caught these. This Chikorita is a little snooty but she's a real sweetheart once she's used to you. And this Litten here is a ball of energy, he never stops moving. But he's also friendly with everybody. And Froakie here, well, the only reason we caught him so easily is because he stayed behind on shore while his clutch went hunting. He's a lazy guy, but when it's time to battle he's really something else."

This is a bit of a difficult choice. You're not too interested in a fire type. But Litten is quite cute. So leaves Froakie and Chikorita. Grass types tend to get written off as weak because they can have a multitude of elemental weaknesses. Although, just like the prof said earlier. Type advantage is a real slippery thing in reality. Crafty trainers can get past that in surprising ways.

Although, you can't say you're not at least a little interested in how Ivy complimented Froakie's battle potential. Though he seems to be a bit of a lazybones. Looking between the two pokemon. You notice how Chikorita seems to be the least interested in you, but you can see her stealing glances in the the corner of your eye when you look at the other pokemon. So you decide to reach out. Chikorita takes a look at your hand before deciding to meet you halfway by laying her leaf in your palm.

"Well I think that settles it. Glad to meet you Chikorita!" Ivy hands you her corresponding pokeball and you clip the ball to your belt. It feels amazing to finally be able to do that.

Ivy recalls the other two, but not before giving Litten some more scratches. The big baby. "Hmm... and what made you choose that one?" She's is back in teacher mode, inquisitive look in her eye.

"Honestly? It seemed like Chikorita and me had the most in common. Or we felt more in sync. Froakie doesn't seem to be interested in much else besides sleeping when he's not battling. And Litten is an attention hog... t-that's not to say they aren't both still great pokemon! It's just- I felt a little something with Chikorita."

Ivy just nods sagely, like she does. "While you and your partner get acquainted, I'll head down and get the show going with the other new trainers. Feel free to come on down and mingle. Or stay here if you like, you won't be hearing anything I haven't said a million times already." Ivy heads down the stairs after quickly adjusting her hair on a monitors reflective surface and you're left alone upstairs with your new partner.

>Eh. stay here and spend some more time with Chikorita. Maybe noone will come up.
>Maybe head outside in the free roaming area and see how the pokes are doing.
>Head downstairs, but find a nice quiet corner where you can listen to the professors spiel.

Eh, you think you'll stay up here where it's quiet and comfy. At least for now. You can get better acquainted with Chikorita like the prof said. She seems to have an inquisitive side. She's exploring the room, sniffin every other thing she comes across. And it has the added effect of spreading a nice flowery scent around the room!

You forgot, Chikorita's leaf is always giving off a nice scent. They've even been observed in the wild using the scent to calm raging pokemon. You can certainly see how that is. You're practically melting into this coach now. "What're you doing over there? Find something you like?"

She stops by the window, having a seat and paying you no mind. Oh, of course. She was looking to get some sun. Grass types enjoy sunning themselves almost as much as a good meal. Her leaf oughta be absorbing plenty of power to use in battle. You spend a moment, just basking in the coziness of the room.

When you look down again, you see Chikorita nestled up against your leg. Heh. She's not so bad. You pat her head, avoiding her large leaf. Looks like she likes it! Then she suddenly gets up. You wonder what's going on but then you hear someone coming up the stairs.

When the person coming up appears, you see a guy about your age. He's pretty well dressed. Though he looks more ready to got to a party than a trip on the road. "Oh. Hey man I'm sorry. I just, smelled something awesome and my legs just kinda took me up here."

"Looks like you caught wind of Chikorita. Say hi." Your pokemon looks at your visitor and turns away. Seemingly deciding he wasn't worth it. Ouch.

He takes it well though, just scratching the back of his head a bit awkwardly. "It's okay, I never had much a way with mons. Though I am hoping to change that." The trainer walks over and extends a hand, which you shake. You have manners. Unlike some pokemon. "My name's Luca. And you?"

"Terry. Were you listening to the prof's introduction downstairs?" Chikorita wanders off to the other side of the room while you start up a conversation. But she seems to be watching both of you.

"I tried, but then that sweet smell caught my attention. And well... I've gone over the material for new trainers many times by now so it's not much of a loss!" He takes a look at Chikorita watching us in the corner. "So, is Chikorita in the lineup this year?"

"Uh-huh. Along with Litten and Froakie. What are you thinking?"

Luca just shakes his head. "Oh no. I've already got a partner so I don't qualify for a starter. But I'm always interested in the yearly lineup."

"Me too! I always kept up, even over years where I knew I couldn't participate. Whose your partner?"

He seems a bit surprised by your enthusiasm but keeps going. "A Ralts. We haven't had, much time to get to know each other though..." He seems a little uncomfortable. "Say, you wanna go downstairs and look around?"

You think on it for a moment, and decide to show him to some of the lab's pokemon since he seems a little nervous. "Let's go outside in the free roaming area and see how the pokes are doing."

He seems to perk up at the idea. "Yes, that does seem nice. I'd like to be around some pokemon used to people." With that, you head downstairs. As soon as you make for the stairs Chikorita darts to your side. Causing Luca to laugh a little at her change in attitude.

Professor Ivy seems to have finished her introduction and people are starting to funnel upstairs to choose their starters. You're just in time. Although, there's a good amount of them that just hang around, talking amongst themselves. You skirt past the clusters of people, some older than you expected and head for the back.

At the back of the lab is a large area reserved for the pokemon being studied or cared for to get their exercise or sunlight. Some even like to battle each other. Luca seems a bit amazed seeing all the mons out and about just doing their thing. You head over to your usual spot and grab some of the pokemon food from the nearby dispensers.

"What are you-" Luca questions you as you walk up to your oldest friend here. Probably mistook him for a tree. The Exeggutor turns so that it's grinning face is looking at Luca and it cries low and tired. Like a yawn.

"Hey there! You still sleeping? You gotta rise and shine. Right Chikorita?" She seems to be staring down one of Exeguttor's faces. Taking a step back only when their jeering face locks eyes with her. But she doesn't back down. You don't know if she's brave or full of herself.

Regardless, you toss your usual tribute of food into each of it's mouths and have a seat right next to it's feet. Patting the ground to indicate to Luca that he should do the same. With some hesitation, he eventually sits down and relaxes. "You know this pokemon quite well, don't you?"

"I know most of them. I've been coming here for years. This Exeggutor here has a deficiency of some kind. He doesn't move for much. Even in battle. But his psychic moves are pretty strong. But it wouldn't be legal to have him in battles."

He looks up at the pokemon's faces. Only his sleepy face is visible now. Looks like he's nodding off. "This is rather peaceful. Ah. Who's that?"

You look where he's pointing and spot a guy in a leather jacket and a wide brimmed hat brushing down a ponyta. Huh, you've never seen him here before. And it's not easy to touch a ponyta or Rapidash's mane without getting burned. "I dunno. But this area is free roam. Not like he needs a backstage pass."

Standing up. You walk over to where he's standing and he flashes a grin when he sees you. "Hey there. I wandered back here because the battles up front were gettin' boring. Don't suppose either of you fellas would fancy a battle?"

>"Sure! Chikorita and me'll take you on."
>"Hey Luca you should give it a go, bond with your Ralts."

"Sure! Chikorita and me'll take you on." She nods in the affirmative. Shaking her leaf. "But uh, let's head back to the arenas first."

The new guy nods. " 'Course. C'mon, I'll grab us a space." As you head back through the lab's downstairs space again you notice most of the trainers have trickled out by now. Most of them have probably gone out on the road by now. You follow the guy out back to the arenas. Most of them are actually vacant by now. Looks like you waited just long enough.

You and your opponent take up opposite sides of the arena. Here it is. Your hearts pumping up again. Here's your first real battle! "Jason." The guy says, bringing you out of your excitement fueled tunnel vision. "Thought you should know the name of the guy about to kick your ass." He sounds mean, but there's a playful smile on his face.

"Dunno. Battle hasn't even started yet." Chikorita enters the arena without you even asking. Ready to do battle.

He just adjusts his hat, and casually tosses out the only ball he's got. Taking it from inside his jacket. The ponyta from earlier neighs and stomps it's hooves menacingly. But your Chikortia doesn't seem impressed. You didn't notice before but Luca has moved to the center of the ring. "Seeing how I'm the only other spectator, I'll act as referee. This is to be a one on one battle. Both pokemon will battle until they are unable, or one side forfeits."

"You both agree to the terms and Luca slices a hand down through the air. "Battle!"

>[Rancher Jason wants to battle!]

In battle, there are three types of rolls. Attack Rolls. Where you simply act with a move. Command Rolls. Where you give a specific order of varying complexity essentially a write-in. And Recovery Rolls. Where you attempt to shake off status effects or other negative things affecting your pokemon. Command rolls get more difficult with the complexity of the command and the lower your bond is with the pokemon in battle.

Now, choose your first move.

"Lay into em' ponyta! We've got the advantage!" Jason wastes no time in barking orders, and his partner is happy to obilge. Ponyta charges head, on, spitting small but rapid balls of flame.

Your Chikorita's moveset is small right now. And this is your first battle so trying anything to complicated might just spell your defeat. So you'll play to the one advantage you do have. "Chikorita, stay light on your feet, if it can't touch you it can't hurt you! then use Growl!"

Chikorita chirps in acknowledgement and takes off as fast as her little feet can carry her. She's not as fast as Ponyta of course but she just needs to outpace the ranged attack. When Ponyta gets impatient and tries to close in, Chikorita turns and hits it with a menacing growl. Even your ears feel a small but sharp twinge of pain when that shrill growl reaches them.

Ponyta is visibly shaken for a moment and it's fireballs start coming out weaker than before. Now Chikorita is running circles around them. Jason is getting impatient too. "Ugh! C'mon man just fight. Hit em with a low kick ponyta, they can't run away forever!" He's right, ponyta's pure speed can't be matched here/ He might get a good hit in if you let them close in.

You can use the rush he's in to your advantage. Dad says all the time. In a battle, when your backs against the wall, your opponent probably won't expect a counter attack. Just evasion. "Run for it Chikorita!"

She obeys your commands in battle pretty well. She's a smart cookie. You picked well. And Jason is getting predictable. His ponyta gives up on the Embers all together and just starts chasing after Chikorita with renewed purpose. Of course, with those stubby little legs, Chikorita isn't going to last very long being chased by a mon like that. So you wait.

You wait, and wait, until Ponyta is right on top of her. "Chikorita! Tackle now!"

Jason flounders, expecting some other tactic. "What?! Ponyta, jump!"

But it's too late, Chikorita launches it's head right into Ponyta's chest before it can jump away or bring it's hooves up to go for the Low Kick. The momentum Ponyta has makes it collapse on the ground for a moment before getting back up on shaky legs. Chikorita seems emboldened. She swings her leaf around and around. Is she taunting Ponyta?

"Your mon's got some serious pep." Jason admits. "But this ain't over yet." He tips his hat somewhat dramatically. "Tail Whip." Ponyta begins to sway it's flaming tail back and forth, and back and forth. Chikorita's determination doesn't leave her but she seems to really be into the way those flames are dancing. She's letting her guard down!

With her defenses down. You really down want to get hit with a fire attack now. It could end the match in one blow. Though you wanted to avoid it since it'll only do a small amount of damage, looks like ranged attacks are your best bet. "Chikorita, don't let him touch you. Use your Razor Leaf!" She snaps to your orders but you know that she's more vulnerable now.

Ponyta rushes in without a command from it's trainer but Jason doesn't seem surprised in the least. "Use Ember to shoot down every leaf she throws at'cha!" Ponyta's mouth glows with the fire in it's belly.

Chikorita goes on the evasive again, opting to run circles around Ponyta. It get's the same idea and they end up in a tight circle firing their projectiles at each other, either missing or cancelling them out. Til Chikorita gets bold. She darts in, brushing past an ember that could've goteen bad. And swings the leaf on her head hard to deliver a point blank Razor Leaf attack.

Ponyta takes it hard, tumbling again before trying hard to get up. It seems like Luca is going to ask Jason if he want's to call it but he's already held up his hand. "It's alright Ponyta, we lost this one." With those words from it's trainer, it falls to the ground. Spent. Jason recalls Ponyta and Luca raises both hands like an official ref calling the end of a match.

"Then this battle's winner is, Terry and Chikorita!" You can't stop smiling. Your first battle, and you won! Though Chikorita only closes her eyes in satisfaction. As if it were a foregone conclusion. "That was quite somehing to watch, Terry. You're clearly well versed in the mechanics of battle."

"I had plenty of time to learn, and my dad's a teacher so... yeah!" Though you won the fight, and she's trying to put on a brave face. Chikorita is worn out as well. "Rest up friend. You really earned it." You recall her and make a mental note to hit the pokemon center on your way out of town.

Jason walks up after, the smile on his face a little smaller. "Y'know. Me 'n Ponyta had three other battles today and noone else could keep up. Y'all are good. I'll give ya that."

"It wasn't easy! I think I'll need to visit the center before hitting the road."

"Oh yeah?" Jason scratches at some stubble. "How about we walk over to the next town together huh? The lonesome road is a little less so with company."

Luca snaps his fingers. Remembering something. "Ah, yes. I was going to ask the same thing Terry."

>>
>>3031598
>did you expect us to sweep that easily?
Not really, but the first battle is never really all that hard.

>What was the differences between the character archetypes?
Well, The Junior Ranger was kind of an outdoors nut, real enthusiastic about nature but kind of bad with people. The Esper would've given you your choice of being a psychic, medium, or aura sensitive. He's a bookish type but nervous and not very confident. And the Dragon Tamer would mean one of your parents is from the Draconid Tribe. Meaning you've spent most of your life with them rather than where you are currently on the mainland, making you a bit strange.

>Will this stay a sausage fest?
Probably not. When you had choices of where to go in the lab yesterday, you could meet and hang with different characters based on where you chose to go. You guys just happened to choose the options with male characters! But there will be other chracters willing to join your group. And if you don't like these guys then vote to move on without them.

>>3031610
>How are you gonna handle the scheduling between this and Metahuman Quest?
Probably gonna alternate between the two. With longer stretches of running either one when I need time to prepare the other.

>>3031848
>So, did you think we’d manage to pull out a win there, or nah?
Given Jason's character and the type advantage I thought that if he got a couple bad hits in you'd lose. But you managed to get through untouched.

"Yeah! Why not? The more the merrier." You take a look around, you were so wrapped up in your battle that you didn't notice the lab is all but empty now. Looks like everyone decided to get on with it. So you will too! "You guys mind if we hit the pokemon center before we get on the road?"

"I was gonna need to hit up the PC anyhow." Jason says. Dusting something off of his boots. Is that soot? Luca just nods his agreement. "But uh, where is the place anyhow? It's my first time in Clover Creek." He seems almost embarrassed to ask. It's alright, you've lived here for a long time. You know this place pretty well by now.

"Sure guys, just follow me." Clover Creek is nice place. It's just nestled between a few other towns on the main roads. It's a quiet place. Lots of retired old folks come here. And a lot of new families too! The Champion always says that the Siroh regions embodies the old world communing with the new.

And you think this town is a pretty good example of that. You pass by a few neighbors on the way to the center. You pass by with a wuick hello. Most of them tell you how proud they are that you're taking the League Challenge. When you walk into the center, the nurse at the front counter is all ready to greet you despite how busy they seem. "Welcome to the Pokemon Center. How may I help you?"

Just as you walk up another nurse comes out from the back with a tray of pokeballs that belong to a few trainers waiting for the pokemon. "Y'all busy? It's only the first day." Jason remarks.

But the nurse doesn't seem surprised in the least. "Oh it's always one of our busiest days on the first. Many trainers go for their first battles right away, some bite off more than they can chew but it's one of the reasons why we're here. Now, do you boys need healing?"

You and Jason hand over your pokemon to the nurse and she inserts them into a tray that's carried off by a surprisingly quick Chansey. After she attends to something on the computer in front of her she smiles. "Ok, these appear to be minor injuries so this shouldn't take long at all. Have a seat until you're called. Thank you."

Obeying the nurses' instructions you all have a seat on the bench. And honestly, it's a bit quiet between the three of you. You think they call this an awkward silence. At least it is until Luca breaks it. "So! Erm, Jason. You don't seem to be from Siroh. Where are you from?"

Jason just kind of chuckles. "And what tipped ya off that I ain't exactly a Siroh native?" He laughs, guffaws really, when Luca flounders a bit. "I'm just pullin' yer chain. I'm from Kanto. Lived there must be about, half my life."

Luca nods, knitting his fingers together in and out. "And what brought you here?"

It's only now that you noticed he took off his hat. It looks old. Tauros hide, maybe. "Uh, life I guess? Parents moved us off of our old family ranch when the money ran dry. We came out here to get a fresh start and we found it. But I've been spendin' too long shoveling poke-pies. I wanted to get out. Have some real battles. See the region. And there's no better way than the League Challenge."

You'd day your out here fro nearly the same reasons. You're about to ask Luca about his reason fro taking the Challenge but the nurse calls you up before you can say. Your thanking the nurse and leaving, but you bump shoulders with someone. "Oh! So sorry about- Terry! I thought you left already."

Amber. Your big sister beams at you with her usual wide smile. She's in her usual gear. Clothes made for the wilderness and the road. Dirty but sturdy, not that you can tell at a distance with the earthy colors she likes. But her lab coat somehow always manages to stay a pristine white. "You made sure to take those stones with you right? I promise they'll be a big help."

How could you forget? All those rocks weighing down your backpack make it hard to. "Totally. I was just stopping by the center here before leaving. My partner needed a rest. After all, we did just win our first battle."

She squishes your cap down on your head like she always does. "Great job, little brother." Then she notices Luca and Jason. "Of, I'm sorry. Who're your friends?"

"Oh, this is Luca, and Jason." They both say their hellos. "I met them at the lab. I actually had my battle with Jason. We're thinking of walking over to the next town together."

She adjusts her glasses. Nodding. You think she might be copying Professor Ivy when she does that. "Look at you. First day out and your already going places. Well. Seeya Terry. Make sure you phone mom and dad every once and a while. Mom would say every time you see a phone, but then you wouldn't make it to the conference in time!"

After your final goodbyes you and your travelling buddies head out. "Hey man. Can I tell you somethin'?" Jason asks.

"What?" You see Luca roll his eyes in the corner of your vision before Jason even says anything. "Your sisters kinda hot. For a nerd."

"Hey!"

"I'm just sayin'!"

"Can we please move on to a different topic of conversation." Luca tries to end to fight before it starts. "Like which route to take out of the forest?"

Jason relents, gleeful smirk on his face. "Fine. We can- damn. I just realized."

"I just realized I agreed to join a group with zero chicks! I want a do over!"

Here you are. On the edge of Helix Forest. It's not called that for no reason. There's something about the ecology here that makes the trees grow into a twisted helix shape. A lot of folks in Clover Creek see thisplace as a way to weed out those who aren't serious about the journeys. The forest is dark. And there's lot's of wold pokemon inside. And it'll take more than a day to pass through so you're going to have to camp.

The question is. Which route do you take? You open up the navigator on your dex and it tells you what you essentially already know. There are three ways you can go to exit the forest. And they each lead to a different town. All excellent places to earn your first badge. But which one. There's Sunnyvale. Another forested area, but it's got a wealth of fire and grass types. A fire type gym leader.

Then there's Lompico Town. Bug type gym. There's a river and many ponds on the way there so there's water types abound. And finally, Roseview. Interesting place. Fairy types like the fields up there but the locals say that poison types come out at night. Lot's of dangerous nocturnals out there.

Luca and Jason have been going back and forth for the past hour, so it's up to you to choose your destination.

"I'm thinking Roseview. I wouldn't like to try my chances at the Sunnyvale Gym with just Chikorita. But there are plenty of pokemon in the forest. C'mon guys." You lead your trio into the woods. The canopy is thicker than you imagined. You were forbiden by your parents from going in here before you had a partner to protect you. So all you've ever really seen is the edge.

The trees actually get more twisted the farther in you go. You can hear wild pokemon all around you, but you haven't actually seen much. A Caterpie here and there. Some scared BUrmy that shoot back up into the canopy they're hanging from the moment they see you. Everything else is using the natural shade as cover. It's probably nearly impossible to see clearly without a light source here at night.

Thankfully, your travelling buddies have quieted down since you entered the forest. Luca seems to be in stunned silence about everything he sees. And Jason attempts to approach every other pokemon you see but they always take off before he can get close. He might be a bit too forward for their liking. Eventually, you notice through gaps in the canopy the sky turning orange.

We're getting into the late afternoon. It's probably not a good idea to go looking around in this forest at night so if you're gonna explore. You should do it now.

"Alright guys. I think I'm gonna search a little. Gotta start building the team somewhere, right?" You set off for an bursh to the side of the path.

Jason goes with you. "There's not many pokes in this forest that fit my style but... might as well make sure ya don't get eaten."

Both of you look at Luca but he hesitates. "A-are you sure? Surely we'll meet some pokemon that won't run away on the path."

"Yeah. Not likely, slick. C'mon. If you're gonna take the League Challenge ya can't be afraid of a little off roadin'" Jason grabs him and gently nudges him along with the both of you.

Most pokemon keep avoiding you to begin with, but the deeper you get in. The less skittish they get. You see a small group of Murkrow just staring at your group. When you lock eyes with them it's hard to look away. So much so that you don't see the weird stick thing sticking out of the ground. You trip, and almost go into a panic as soon as you remember the egg.

You pull the incubator around to check and breath a sigh of relief when you don't see any cracks. The walls protected it pretty easily. then you look at what you tripped on. It's- you don't know what it is. It's like a small tree. A sapling. But the branches are like spheres. Then it starts shaking and vibrating.

It pops out of the ground. Blinks once blinks twice. And starts crying. Everyone is kinda speechless. But you manage to pull out your dex. A Bonsly?

Bonsly is the younger form of Sudowoodo, so this little guy has gotta be pretty young. Maybe if you give him a treat he'll settle down. You take out the small bottle of pokesnacks (TM) that Amber gave you and take out one for the Bonsly. "Hey now, don't cry. Here." You hold out the snack for him to catch a whiff. He seems surprised but the tears keep flowing.

"C'mon, you smell that? It's real good!" He stops crying long enough to get closer. He takes a couple more steps closer but something doesn't feel right. You start to take a step back when Bonsly launches itself at you! You don't really dodge. More like fall on your but in time for Bonsly to miss. He seems surprised you got outta they way but stands it ground. Looks like he wants a battle.

"Huh, you're a crafty little one! Alright then. Chikorita, let's do this." You relase your partner, who seems to be relieved to be in an environment she knows. But quickly glares at the Bonsly, who has a little smirk on is face Alright, you have the type advantage but Bonsly is clearly the type to pull something you don't expect, you've gotta play it smart or else you could lose this one.

Super Effective Crit!

MORGAN DICE

Bonsly is bouncing up and down on either foot, making faces at Chikorita. Bonsly is an inherently tricky mon. With Fake Tears as it's bread and butter. It's trying to goad Chikorita. But she's not having any of it. She just watches him all stone faced. It's honestly a little hard to watch without laughing. Even Jason and Luca behind you are cracking up.

"Don't fall for it Chikorita. Just keep your distance and use your Razor Leaf." She chirps to let you know your command is heard and suddenly, Bonsly kicks up several rock chucks from the ground, sending them flying at Chikorita. BUt she's not having it. She slaps the rocks out of the air with her leaf and returns the favor with a Razor Leaf that's definitely brighter and bigger than what you saw in the first battle.

Bonsly is so shocked by her complete shutdown of his attack that he can't dodge. And he takes the attack full on, smashing into a tree before rolling back down to the forest floor. Out cold. The group is speechless. Again. You forget to even reach for a ball. "Yo. That Chikorita's a beast. I don't feel so bad losin' now."

Shaking your head, you pull out one of the free balls given to you with your dex. "Great job Chikorita. Now let's see how this goes!" You take aim, allowing the targeting system of the ball to latch onto Bonsly's signature. It changes color once you get a lock. And throw! The ball flies through the air and hits Bonsly head on. It disappears in a beam of light and the ball is left on the ground.

Now all that's left is to wait.

Cool, guess Bonsly’s a part of the team. Never been a huge Sudowoodo fan, but he’ll probably make a fairly good tank. Out of curiosity, are we keeping to the four move limit, or can our Pokémon learn more then that?
>>
>>3033197
The ball shakes once, shakes twice, once more. And finally settles. The soft red light around the button fading to signify a successful capture. You pump your fist. Your first capture and first win in the same day! You pick up your new Bonsly and clip the ball to your belt. Chikorita is looking positively pleased with herself. She really gave it to him. You pat on the just as she like and her leaf wags back and forth.

Jason whistles in amazement. "Five star capture man, I'm gonna have to step my game up."

Luca even claps. "Splendid work Terry! I've never seen such a thorough capture. Although to be honest. That was the first capture I've ever seen. But, masterfully done anyhow."

After that, you notice it's getting dark out fast and you all decide to make camp. You get close to the road as to avoid running afoul of any big mons while you sleep. As you set up your equipment you start to notice the difference in what each of your carries. You've got a modest camping set that your parents got you. A sleeping bag, an electric lantern. Some dehydrated food that's surprisingly tasty!

Luca's got one of those hardcase packs that guarentees to protect all of the contents from impact, water, snow, fire, electricity. Everything! And while you and Jason have got sleeping bags he brought a tent. And not just any tent. No he's got one of those auto tent things from Silph. They construct themselves with one button press and even puts itself back in the box.

Jason on the other hand. Doesn't even have a backpack, not really. Just one of those single strap deals that doesn't carry a whole lot. But what he does have- Is a portable cooking set. Which he uses to make dinner with scarce ingredients. Right now your all just gathered around the light eating. Noone is saying much. But you guys don't really know each other, huh?

>"Say Jason, where'd you learn how to cook like this?"

Since Jason isn't from here, and Luca doesn't seem like it. You wonder if they know this place like you do. "Hey do you guys know the story about the cult that used to live in the forest?" Your question makes them both freeze while eating, Jason's spoon hanging from the corner of his mouth. Luca looks like he wants to change the subject. Too late! "Well? You guys know the story or not?"

Jason finds his courage first. "I ain't heard nothin about no cults." Then he thinks on it. "Unless you count those folks from uhh... was it Sinnoh? Team Universal. Or somethin'"

"You're thinking of Team Galactic. I've only ever read about them online but they certainly did behave in a cult like manner. They were obsessed with, ascending to the stars or something of that nature." Luca always seems to know a little something about everything huh. Whatever, that's not what you wanted to talk about.

"Oh these guys were nothing like Galactic. Let me tell you the story." You lower the brightness on the electric lamp for a little atmosphere and you can practically see the color drain from Luca's face with it. "So, back before any of us were born. There was this group. And they were weird, but they didn't hurt anybody. They just loved the shape of a helix. Or a spiral, from your perspective."

"Now, they didn't just like it, or love it. They were obsessed. IF you went anywhere near their weird compounds you'd see it everywhere. On their clothes, in their art. They wore amulets of the shapes. They thought it was some kind of key to something. I can't really say what." Here's where thing's get interesting.

"One day, back in Clover Creek someone disappeared. Well, not really disappeared. More like nobody had seen him weeks. And this was weird. The guy was pretty well known in town. People got worried. So they let the police know and they get into his house. And what do they find?" They're both hooked now, leaning in from their seats. "The helix. Scrawled all over the guys house. On the walls, the ceiling. Everything."

>Continued
>>
>>3033370
"And what happened to man that lived there? Well, they found him. His body contorted. Into a perfect spiral." Luca's covered himself in a blanket since you last looked and even Jason is taking sideways glances at the forest now. "Now this had gotten the police's attention. And that lead them to the forest. Kids back then had been talking about weird things in the forest. But they just assumed they were mons. Probably an errant ghost type. Not anymore."

"So the police conduct a search into the forest and, sure enough, they find one of their compounds. They've got no idea how they were able to move so many people into the forest under their noses. But that doesn't matter anymore. A murder had been committed. And all signs pointed to them." You lower the lamp a little more as you reach the end. "Now, it's time for a raid. They're expecting heavy resistance. These guys are fanatics right?"

Jason actually jumps a little when a Murkrow flies overhead. "They bust in, weapons and pokemon partners at the ready. But all they find is more of the same. Helices. Spirals. On the walls. On the floors. On the people..." Luca's practically hiding in that blanket now. Time for the big finish! "Every single one of them. Contorted and stretched into helices. Arranged into a great big shape. And at the center. The object of their worship. An old fossil. One that you could see at any museum. Known for it's spiral shape."

"To this day, no one knows how they did it. Never mind how they did to themselves. They had security surveillance but they only showed footage from the outside. And once they entered. No one left. They cleaned the mess up. And never spoke of it again. Some say they could feel something. When they looked at that hunk of rock. Some kind of pull. Like no matter how you looked at it, it seemed to turn. And turn the world around it. The police captain smashed it."

"But sometimes people that go deep in the forest, off the path, swear they find spirals in everything. Helices. In the ground. In the pokemon... The trees." There's a silence in the forest now. No chirping bug types. No singing Murkow. Like the forest was listening to the story. "But! That's just it. A story my sister told me."

Luca just crawls into his tent. Without a word. And Jason rests his hat on a nearby stump. "Dude. No more stories from you. Like, ever." With that, he wraps himself inside his sleeping bag and closes his eyes.

Well, you thought it was a good story!

Too bad the session is on just when I'm asleep. You got great flow OP, anything else you do besides this and Metahuman quest laying around the internets?

>>

>>3033527
>Legendary’s?
Not sure what you wanna know. Will they be present? Absolutely! Will you be able to catch one? That REALLY depends. Don't expect to be able to catch the avatars of time and space. But maybe a mythical pokemon. But that's gonna take a lot of work as well.

>Dragon types?
Again, not sure what you wanna know? They're pretty much the same as they are in game. Strong. Grow slowly. Rare. You can get one or two if you try!

>Master Balls?
They exist. But they are stupidly expensive and don't work on sufficiently powerful mons. Like, it could catch a Darkrai no problem. But it'd break trying to catch Kyogre.

>>3033567
>You got great flow OP, anything else you do besides this and Metahuman quest laying around the internets?
Thanks! And no, not really. I've been writing for myself as a hobby for years and I figured writing for an audience would be more fun/help me improve.

>What's the appeal of Pokemon?
For me most of the appeal has always been in the games. There's the raw fun of collecting mons, building a team of favorites and going all the way to the top. But I also love the world. And while world building is DEFINITELY not one of their focuses up at GameFreak, they still manage to make something that draws me in.

When you all wake up it's bright and early. A great time to break camp. All the nocturnal pokemon are getting back to sleep and the others are just waking up. By the time you open your eyes Luca is already awake, his tent deconstructed. He's even got a fresh change of clothes. How much does he got stored in that backpack? You crawl out of your sleeping bag and take a look at yourself in the blank mirrored screen of your dex.

You've got a serious case of bedhead. And you didn't even sleep in a bed. Well, that's what caps are for. Donning your cap you feel ready for the day. Then Jason shoots up, half awake and still zipped up in his sleeping bag. You all exchange grunted good mornings and observe a little hygiene before packing up and getting back on the road.

Everyone's a bit quiet as you make your way down the road. Jason picked some Oran berries and brought back to camp for a light breakfast before you left. Said it was best to forage when you can to conserve food you brought with you. You're thinking about Roseview. All you've ever really seen of it adds up to advertisements. Commercials, posters, that cafe chain. What was it called again?

As you're thinking you spot something off the side of the road, just barely. You see a soft green glow just in the undergrowth. Is that what you think it is? You veer away from the group and notice you digging away at the foliage. "Terry? If ya wanted more berries, ya ain't gonna find em' low to the ground."

"Not berries." You finally dig out your prize. "Mushrooms!" Medi-shrooms to be exact. Not the scientific name but it's easier to remember. Green mushrooms with a soft glow to them. "This is a lucky find guys. Never thought they'd be able to grow so close to the road. Here! Take some there's a bunch here."

>Continued
>>
>>3033982
Jason accepts the fungus with an odd look on his face. "And what excatly, do we do with a mushroom? I ain't never eaten a single mushroom that wasn't on a pizza."

Looks like you've gotta play teacher. "They're not for you. They're for your pokemon. These kinds of mushrooms only grow in this region. And they've got all kinds of effects. Lots of them will make your pokemon stronger, but those are harder to find. These, will heal them even better than medicine from the markets."

Luca accepts the mushrooms readily, inserting them into his pack. "I've never seen them in person. This is nice find. Take your share Jason, I'm sure you see the value in free medicine for your partners."

After he stuffs them in his bag Jason starts looking around the brush where you found them. "Well if they're so valuable we should find some more, right? Heh. A head-start on the League is something I can't pass up."

"Oh you won't find anymore so close. That's just not how they grow. But some pokemon can smell them. I uh, don't know which ones though. Hehe..." Jason just frowns and gets back on the road.

"C'mon, I don't wanna spend another night in here." And he's off. You and Luca share a shrug and follow after him. The rest of your walk through Helix Forest is actually pretty pleasant. No wild pokemon bother you too much and the weather is staying nice and level. Eventually you can see the end of the forest, the trees start to untwist themselves. And now you're back out in the open.

You open your navigator again and make sure you're on the right route as you go. Jason seems to be on the lookout for pokemon. And Luca is keeping an even pace with you. "Terry? Have you thought of nicknames for your pokemon yet? I know most trainers prefer to do so, but I am terrible at naming things."

For a moment you just think about it. You have plenty of names floating around in your head but it's hard to pick one. "I haven't thought about it enough yet. Hey, have you ever been to Roseview?" You hope someone else has, your not sure what to expect, except lots of flowers, hotels, some shopping. And hopefully some fairy types out in the wild.

Luca seems surprised you'd ask him but answers anyways. "Oh, me? I am not the most knowledgeable. But I did pass through there on my way to Clover Creek from Castein City." He rests his chin in his palm, thinking on it before answering. "It is a wonderful place, natural beauty abound. Though I wouldn't hesitate to describe it as a 'tourist trap'. There are many visitors there. People on vacation or trainers like us."

So it's pretty much like you thought. Well there'll be plenty of time to hit the town when you actually get there. "What about the Gym Leader? He's new so I barely have any info."

"Leader Desmond? I have heard that he is a kind and down to earth man. Despite his wealth." Luca even brings up a photo on browser function. He looks- like a pretty normal guy. With lots of shaggy hair.

"Wait. Desmond is rich? Never heard of a loaded Gym Leader before." You know some of them have some pretty nice jobs alongside their leader duties, but not anything that makes them rich.

"I'm surprised you did not know this much. Desmond is the founder of Puff's Cafe. You can see them just about anywhere in the region now."

"Puff's Cafe? Oh yeah! I've seen those. Haven't been to one, I don't think. But wow, why'd a successful business guy open a Gym? You've gotta get permission from the League and everything." Up ahead, you can see a road sign telling you Roseview is close. But you've still got a ways to go. "Hey guys, you met my sister. You got any siblings?"

The question kind of catches Luca off guard. But so do a lot of things it seems. Jason, on the other hand answers right away. "Nah. Only child over here. And I like it that way. We had plenty of neighbors with their own brats that followed me around and that was enough for me."

"I must profess the same. I-in that I am an only child. Though I suppose having a sibling wouldn't have been terrible. You and your sister seem to get along well, Terry." Yeah, guess you never really thought about it. Being siblings doesn't guarantee you like each other. But wait, you just realized. "You're from Castein, Luca?"

"Well, yes. Why? Does that seem unusual to you?"

Jason chuckles as he peaks under a rock. "Not unusual. But I knew you were a city-boy. Not that it's hard to peg you as such."

"I was just wondering what it was like. I never got a chance to go before now and it's called one of the technological hubs of the world! There's even a Aether Foundation branch there. It sounds amazing." You're not that far from it right now, actually. Though it would take a fair bit of travel time. And you'd have to go backwards to earn more badges once done there. And the League Conference is being held there. Ugh, maybe it'd be best to hold off on a trip there until yo're done badge hunting.

Luca doesn't seem all that impressed with it though. "Yes, it is certainly something. Though I suppose my time living there has dulled me to it's wonders. Ah, look ahead. We can see the city now." As you crest a hill, you start to see more and more clusters of colorful flowers all around, until they start to fill your view. Pink, red, yellow, green, blue. Any color you could want is here. And in the distance you see the town itself. Waiting for you. Let's go.

-----

There's been a pleasant scent in the air ever since you got here. It's completely different from the sort of woodsy smell that you got back home. It's like, flowers and baked goods. But nearly everywhere you go. roseview is a real nice place. There are shops lining the streets and fields that are specifically reserved for pokemon so trainers have a place to go hunting. Though they warn you of the change after dark.

Though Jason seems mostly annoyed with the amount of tourists, Luca is surprisingly in his element. Navigating the streets for you both and even giving directions to passersby through either his memory or his nav. You've got plenty of choices on what to do next. But what to do first?

Hmm. You should go out into the fields. evening out your team would be nice. And you should get a chance to see what Bonsly is like in a fight before you rely on him in a gym battle. Chikorita was so... thorough with him that you don't really know what he's like behind liking to distract and trick his opponents. The fields it is. But first. "Hold up guys, I'm gonna check on the egg."

It's been hours since you last took a look and you think you felt some shakes on the way here. You've had it for about a week in total. But there's no knowing how long it was out in the wild. It could probably hatch any minute now. You find a bench and plop down, removing the incubator from the side of you backpack. It looks pretty normal. But when you move it you think you see something. Holding still, you see a tremble. And another.

"It's gotta be close now! I wonder what it is." Jason takes a look at the egg, scrutinizing it in a way you didn't know he could.

"Well, whatever it is, it ain't purebred. With all them speckles and spoltches I can't tell one way or the other. Now, purebred eggs? They practtically have the species written on the shell. You can't mess up with the patterns and colors on those." You nearly forgot, Jason grew up a rancher. "Though bein' a mutt ain't so bad. Plenty of stronger mons are. Hell, you might even get one of them weird side-effects."

Side-effects? First you've heard of that. You don't really know anything about breeding. "Do you mean the subspecies, Jason?" Luca does though, he's searching on his dex while he talks.

"Uh huh. Sometimes when ya cross breed you end up with a child pokemon with a little of it's parent's features that ain't from the same species." He gets into the conversation now, taking a seat with you and Luca. "Not a lotta folks know this but pokemon's only gotta be in the same egg group to breed together. But the mother always lays eggs of her own species. This is what we call cross-breedin'"

"But like I said, sometimes the newborn poke will end up with traits it couldn't normally have. Some learn moves they can't normally learn. Most of em got some kind of physical difference. Like coloration." But then he turns serious. "But cross breedin' ain't all gravy. Some folks will pay a heap of cash for a unique mon. Especially one with a moveset ya can't see comin'. That's how ya get illegal breeding programs, and- I don't wanna talk about that. And you don't wanna know."

You look to Luca, and he just shakes his head. Not wanting to take the topic any further. And you're not sure you want to either. "Well, think I'm gonna take a walk in the fields, see what I find." You pack up the egg, nice and secure again. And start off towards the fields.

"Whoa there." Jason's hand lands on your shoulder, stopping you. "You sure you wanna head out now? There's different types that roam them fields at night. Poison types, Dark types. Or so I heard. That's when I'm goin."

>"Nah, I'd rather see what's there in the daylight."

Not like we need to catch one, we'll want to rack up some experience with our mons before we go battle the gym anyways.

Well, there's supposed to be fairy types around but if different ones come out at night than you wanna see what you can find. "Huh, that does sound pretty interesting. Okay!" Luca decides to take a look at the shops in the meantime. Leavin g you and Jason to make sure your partners are ready. After a quick trip to the Center, you're all good to go. Now to wait.

----

Roseview is pretty different at night, it's so much quieter. And the scent on the breeze is much more subtle. You and Jason are atalking the fields right after dakr. It's pretty wide open out here so you can even see some other trainers out. Probably doing the same as you. You're taking your time. Looking over every patch you see to make sure you don't overlook any mons.

But Jason, he's all over the place. Stomping around, doing poke-calls, even crawling sometimes. You're starting to think maybe this was a bad idea, but then you hear a hiss. Turning slowly, you see a black shape slither around in the flowers behind you. Something rises up, a head with long fangs and scales glittering in the low light. Slowly, you take out your dex. A Seviper?

Poison type. Very strong bite. How should you play this?

Battle with Bonsly!

And smartly not approaching the dangerous snake with hand outstretched

>Writing

>>3034650
This one looks strong. Stronger than any other pokemon you've come up against so far. You'd better play to your teams strengths. You release Bonsly, who comes out of the ball a little confused. He looks at the Seviper, and looks at you. Then back to the Seviper, and then back to you again. This time, with fake tears in his eyes. "Don't worry buddy, we're gonna win this together."

He's now totally convinced but he's ready to battle anyways. Resuming that odd dance he does when he's not attacking. Seviper's eyes are following him up and down and up and down. This thing is a real predator. But poison attacks will be that much weaker against him. Seviper's bladed tail rises up from the flowers behind it. It's getting ready to make a move.

It's poison may be weak against Bonsly but it can still hit pretty hard. So you might as well get on the offensive. "Bonsly, Rock Throw is out best option! Don't let him touch you!"

Bonsly jumps back into some nearby flowers and begins launching rocks from the foliage. He's trying to stay out of Seviper's sight by throwing rocks and then running to another patch of flowers. And he gets some good hits in. But it looks like Seviper is getting tired of the hit and run.

Seviper raises most of it's long body off the ground and releases a screech, so loud that you have to cover your ears. Bonsly comes wobbling out of it's hiding place. It's defense is down.

Just like you thought, Seviper immediately attempts to counterattack, looks like he's going for a Bite!

You've got no choice. When your backed into a corner. Fight! "Bonsly, Rock Throw!" He hesitates for a moment, probably wondering why you're not just telling him to dodge but you know you can turn this around. Seviper's Bite attack leaves it wide open for a counter.

Bonsly kicks up the ground right into Seviper's face. Slamming the poison pokemon in the mouth and leaving it in a coiled up pile on the ground. When Bonsly sees the results of his efforts he hops up and down for joy.

Phew. That was close, Bite could've done a number on Bonsly. People forget about it's dark typing. And you've seen some strong mons flich after taking a Bite in some of the League videos. That was kinda close. But your mons are pretty strong. Aren't they?

Before you can decide what to do with your victory. Jason comes bounding over, and then takes a step back once he sees the Seviper. "Hoo boy, every time I see one of these I'm reminded of that summer back in Kanto when Ekans breeding got outta control."

He shakes his head. Presumably shaking the thought off. "You find anything good? I lost track of you when this Seviper snuck up on me."

Now he's got his trademark smirk back. "Did I ever! Found myself a Croagunk. And he gave Ponyta a run for her money. She's got some poisoning, so I gotta head up to the Center. You comin'?"

>"Yeah,right behind you." [Leave]
>"No I'm gonna explore some more."
>"I'm gonna try and capture this sneak."

[Alright guys, that's it for this one. But please vote on your next course of action as that'll be where we start next thread. I typically don't like leaving threads like this but I've run out of time. Though next time I run, It'll be Metahuman. I'll take any questions/complaints here too! Please let me know if you think I can improve on something or if your not satisifed with the quest so far. That goes for metahuman too. I gotta get feedback sometimes.]

Also if you guys don't want to get rid of these two chaps can we at least agree on the need to get more girls in our party?
>>
>>3035557
We can waifu later, right now is bro time. Lucas, maybe, we can talk about at another time. Right now we shouldn't be persuing waifus, and instead focus on becoming an actual Ace trainer that girls won't be put off by.

Let it progress naturally, we aren't in a dating sim.
>>
>>3035772
>we aren't in a dating sim
Says you

There's no reason not to enjoy company of the fairer sex while we do whatever it is we need to do to become an actual Ace trainer. If we got time to interact with the guys surely we can do the same with girls.

Yeah, I'll be alternating these quests as I go. Though, I have to wonder if I shot myself in the foot with my name.

Apparently there was a Sleepyanon at some point in the past and he ran a pokemon quest for a very short time that went miserably. Maybe people think I'm him and noped out? I've had a couple people ask before if we're the same person. We're not, by the way.
