You're Chief, just Chief. And you're the leader of the Trolls that call the Nation of Qybun home. Well okay your "nation" is just a repaired fortress, but hey it's a starting point. A hell of a lot better then you started off with too. You and your trolls have spent the past couple of days moving everything out of your cave and into the now repaired fort. A necessity really, especially now with the pitter patter of Troll children feet. The thought of your two children brings you joy, the little miracles whose mother somehow survived. It brings you joy the women seem to have accepted their new life and can be left unattended. The mother of your children even seems to be trying to integrate herself.

The sun dawns on a new day for the Trolls of Qybun and now it's time to go out there and build your nation. You've heard the Cave Trolls complaining about strange noises coming from the Mines.

(Remember you can take several actions depending on how many Trolls you have, and Trolls like Stumps are considered separate since they're devoted to that already.)
>>Explore the forest. [Will lead to an expedition where you'll be away for several days]
>>Investigate the noises coming from the Mines.
>>Explore the Mines connected to the fort.
>>Talk to Qgdab about what knowledge he has.
>>Learn Common from the women.
>>Scout the north.
>>Have Stumps the smith make something. (What?)

[Manufacturing]
-Troll Sword- A large jagged metal sword wield by Trolls. Its jagged serrated edges combined with the strength of a Troll tear through flesh like paper, and even armor with ease. Masterwork weapons are stronger and sharper, and require less maintenance while being more reliable, but require three times as much time. 2/1 days.

-Troll Plate Armor- Thick set of plate armor crafted for Trolls, capable of deflecting most blows. This armor offers no protection against magic however. Masterwork armor can be made in twice the time, but is far stronger, lighter, and inscribed with designs. 1/3 days.

-Troll Tools- A specific tool meant for Troll hands. Required for some task and speed others. Specify the tool you want to make. 2/1 days.

With a few cracks of your bones you set off to start the day. First order of business you set off to see Stumps in his new workshop. You find the Troll stoking his new forge and adjusting the Dwarven anvil in his new shop, which used to be the smithy of the fort. He greets you with a friendly wave asking if you need anything. You waste no time in telling him to start work on some swords to arm your people. Stumps laughs it off saying. "I thought you might want something hard, easy day for me." You leave after he informs you he should have a couple by the end of the day.

As soon as that's done you find the two Cave Trolls preparing to set off for the mines. You tell them you'll be joining them this time. They become visibly relieved at this. In a few more moments you've set off to the mine. Your larger cousins tell you their cause for concern. At first everything seemed to be fine, but over the last few days as they've set put deeper they've begun to hear strange things. At first it was a low groaning that carried throughout the mine. Then thundering steps that set stone to fall. The latest was the final straw though, they heard an earth shattering roar that shook the entire mine. By the time they've finished you've all reached the mine, they set off to mining and tell you they'll not go any deeper till the noise is dealt with.

As a Fire Troll your body gives off a little natural light that helps guide you through these tunnels, along with some help of your dark adapted eyesight. These tunnels are like a labyrinth, and several times you believe yourself lost before finding yourself again. But you've also found reason to believe the miners. Several times you've been startled by a low bestial groan that seems to carry itself on the wind. Eventually you round a corner to see a burning light illuminating the next turn and a groan louder then all the others, it seems you've found the source.

You round the bend to see this leads down a staircase that hugs a wall that is open to a large round chamber. The chamber continues down for several levels, all around you see Dwarven forges and many more openings to tunnels. This chamber seems to have acted as a central junction for the dwarves who built it. What would be strange is all the forges are lit, at least if you couldn't see the cause. In the center of the chamber walking constantly in a circle is a large flaming Golem. One of its arms has been destroyed, in the other it carries a large jagged piece of metal that drags behind it. From the deep grove in the ground, and armored dwarf corpses you figure it's been here a while. You could block the area off, or perhaps your gods will reward you if you face it.

>>Arm yourself and have Qgdab place the ceremonial markings on you. You'll destroy it and prove your right as chief to the gods.
>>Have the Cave Trolls collapse the junction. (Will lose access to the rest of the mine.)
>>Abandon the mine

If you guys want to know the difference in strength it's about equal.

The Golem is about a foot taller then you and stronger. But you're faster and it can't regenerate like you, its flames are also useless against a fire Troll like yourself. If you fought you'd go in with the Troll Plate Armor, and a Troll Sword.

For it to kill you it'd have to destroy your head.

You consider closing the tunnel, but the mine has proven too valuable. Besides the gods would doubtlessly be displeased by such cowardice. You leave the mine, telling the Cave Trolls the problem will be dealt with soon. You make your way back to fort as quickly as you can. You find Qgdab and tell of the situation. "Hmm, a test of strength would surely prove yourself worthy in the eyes of the gods, and put the doubts of your people to rest. Very well." Qgdab lights some incense he found while you kneel in front of him. Over the course of an hour he covers you in swirling ceremonial markings. As Qgdab finishes you hear the other Fire Troll has returned from a successful hunt, and Stumps has finished the first sword. The other Fire Troll enters with the new sword and armor. You hold your arms out as the Troll and Qgdab place the armor on you. As they finish Qgdab mutters several words in a strange language as he funnels the incense fumes towards you. As they hit you a new feeling of awareness and power flows through you. Qgdab quickly grabs you before you place a hand on the sword and tells you. "If you see a small glowing orb aim for that, and bring it back if you can, but don't risk your safety." With no more words you heft the sword over your shoulder and leave for the mine. Your two newborn sons run up to you before you leave grabbing on to you to try and force to stay. You gently shake them off and place a hand on their shoulder each. "Do not worry little ones, I will return." They still try to stop you, and eventually their human mother has to drag them away.

The trek in the armor is shorter then you had hoped as you find yourself quickly outside the chamber again. With a quick prayer you enter the chamber, and see your prey is following the same path as it has for years. With a ferocious shout you leap from the top of the stairs, sword heft above you. As you bring down the sword the construct moves with surprising speed. Your sword sword barely misses, sparks fly as the tip of your sword scratches it before carving a large groove in the ground. The beast swings upward with its sword as you narrowly avoid it. While its sword is over its head you strike out leaving a jagged wound across its chest, molten fire pours forth from the wound like blood but behind it for just a second you see a small sphere. Using its momentum it brings down its own weapon in a overhead swing. You grab on to your sword with both head blocking the blow. Your blades are locked together, but the construct is throwing its own considerable weight into the crushing struggle.

It lets out a roar as it pushes you farther back, but you get the idea to use its power against itself. You move your sword at an angle that causes the Golem's to slide off, nearly losing a couple of fingers in the process. As it clumsily stumbles you use this chance to trip it up causing it to crashing to the floor, sending the whole chamber rumbling. Without wasting anytime you straddle the fallen construct with your powerful thighs. As it thrash you thrust your fist into the wound on its chest. You try to feel around for the orb. You think you almost have it when you're drawn back to the moment as you see the head of it is growing much brighter. It unleashes a torrent of powerful scolding flame, but such a thing licks helplessly at your Fire Troll hide, all it really damages is your warpaint which flakes off. The light on the other hand blinds you and sends you reeling back. It waste no time in bolting upright and going back on the offensive. You trade blow for blow with it as the battle drags on. Perhaps ironically for a Troll such as yourself it's his brawn and size vs your skill and agility.

But despite the evenness of the match it's looking worse for the wear. Your fist has torn the wound on its chest wider and you can now see the small grape sized orb pulsing erratically with a soft blue light. The beast lets out a deafening roar and charges you with sword raised high.

It charges you sword high above its head, and yet you do not move yet. The ground shakes with its thunderous charge, but it will not strike fear into you. You grab your own sword with both hands and say. "I am Chief, leader of Qybun, and I am worthy of leading them to glory! I will survive, and know no fear!" The creature finally reaches you and you close the distance with it. You tear into its midsection with all your might and the top half is sent flying as you cleave the Golem in half. You feel blood trickle from a light blow it landed on your shoulder and make your way over to the flailing chest of the creature. As it tries to stab you, without ceremony it rip its core out. As you hold the small grape sized crystal the fire fades from the construct and it falls apart, finally being snuffed out as the magic that sustained it fades.

You take a step and feel darkness encroach your vision as the adrenaline fades, perhaps the fight was more tiring then you thought. You crumple to the ground still grasping the core, thudding steps can be heard as you fade.

When you open your eyes you find yourself floating in a great void. You wonder if you're dead and are answered by a booming voice. "No Chief of Qybun, this is not the after life. We have seen your battle and you have done us proud." The voice say in strong tone. Another voice joins in a gentle more affectionate feminine one. "You've fought bravely, and your people will be awarded for it. We have decided to grant you a boon of the gods."

Four glowing symbols appear before you each playing out someway before resetting themselves. A blue tree whose roots grow deeper and more powerful bearing plentiful fruit. A shattered mirror which shards come together to form the mirror again. A large group of figures marching towards a castle on a mountain. "Which shall you choose?"

You pick the mind. You know your kind aren't the most clever and if you ever truly wish to be feared or respected that must change. As you focus your mind grows clearer as if a fog lifts just a little.

>[Boon] Technology: All Trolls who call the nation Qybun home have had their Technology increased from [Struggle] to [Average]. Any Trolls who join will reap the benefits of this boon and those who leave shall lose it.

As the gift of the gods takes hold you feel yourself returning to the waking world. You awaken in a large bed covered in furs in your room. You see Qgdab muttering to himself and humming as he mixes concoctions and sorts several ointments. He sees you trying to push yourself up and rushes over to you. "Ah, Chief careful!" He pushes he back down as you let out a pained grunt. "That Golem's sword nearly cut through the bone. It'll take several more hours to heal." He reaches into a pouch and pulls out the small core. "And let me give you my thanks for retrieving this." He silent for several moments as if not sure what to say. "I know you probably got hurt trying to retrieve this because I asked you to, and for that I'm thankful. I'm grateful the gods answered my prayers and saw fit to return you in one piece. But enough emotions. With this Chief I could relearn how to make Golems. With your permission of course."

You give your consent to begin his study into Golemancy, with which he responds to with glee. As he sets off you send for the Fire Troll with free time on his hands and have him check on the cattle to see how they're doing since you moved the pen. Troll returns and tells you the cattle are fine and one of the cows even seems to be pregnant. Your glad to know despite the move your people are prospering. With most you can do today finished, and having fought a hard won battle, you embrace sleep. Your dreams are filled with glory a army of Trolls shaking the horizon with each step; a massive city carved from the stone which Trolls call home.

You gently awake to the sound of your children playing early as a new day dawns. You're wound seems to be healed as you pull back the bandages, caked in dry blood.

With nothing else to do you set off to explore the mine while you order the Cave Trolls to begin repairing the Fort walls. The Fire Troll who begins to leave for his daily hunt is stopped by you; you tell him rather then just killing them you'd hope he could catch some today. The Troll looks at you warily not used to having to bring prey back alive, he says he'll try but makes no promises. Those matters out of the way you head towards the abandoned mine in the back of the fort, its pressed up against the mountain, and boarded up right now. You cautiously tear the boards off.

With your natural light you set off into the mine, and to your surprise you've seen it already. It seems this mine was built separately from the mines you've already started using, but at some point connected to the Dwarven mines after the Dwarves abandoned theirs. Your answer for why they abandoned the mine is clear as you find a tunnel that leads to the central junction, where you slayed the Golem, is strewn with charred human skeletons. You spend an hour down in the tunnel searching a few branching tunnels and bring back samples of the things you find.

As you start your work for the day you leave you stop by Stumps, who happily tells you he's finished the other sword. You congratulate him but tell him there's no time to rest. You order a new masterwork set of armor, and tell him you'd like the design improved. He readily agrees saying he doesn't know why but he's had a lot of new ideas over the past day. Leaving you feel confident he won't let you down.

>-Troll Plate Armor- Thick set of plate armor crafted for Trolls, capable of deflecting most blows. This armor offers no protection against magic however. [Refined Design] Once a set of crude overlapping plates, this armor is now more intricate and moves better with the wearer. Masterwork armor can be made in twice the time, but is far stronger, lighter, and inscribed with designs. 1/3 days.

You then head to the treasure hoard looking for a map, you need to find out what the hell is around you. After nearly being buried beneath the piles of your horde you nearly give up. But as you leave the room you notice a piece of paper stuck to your foot. It seems you found the map you were looking for. Though it only tells you the name of a few locations around you, and the major cities around the world with some territory lines. You place a small marker over where you are in the Durgbash wastelands.

With that done there's only one thing left to do. Build a shrine to the gods who gave you the boon. Though you need to remember who it was. There was a god, and a goddess you remember that much. But which ones.

The God
>>Meliach, The iron warrior. [God of war and battle.]

You clear two small alcoves in one of the places where the fort is carved into the mountain. You have one of the Cave Trolls working on the walls stop for a moment, ordering him to grab a chisel and follow. Grabbing a chisel you both set to work carving images of the Gods as you expand the alcoves. When you are done the alcoves have been dug clearly into the mountain and the hall of the corridor, they stand slightly taller then a Troll and almost as wide. In the one carved by the Troll there's a powerful warrior covered in iron armor with a horned helmet, behind him blazing flames, Meliach the iron warrior. The one you carved holds a beautiful Storm Giant woman covered in flowing silk, her eyes closed with a ever constant flow of tears. You both light some candles for the built in holders, and place a piece of wood as a shelf for offerings. With the shrines done the Cave Troll returns to work and waves goodbye.

>Patron God: Meliach, The iron warrior. [God of war and battle.] You’ll lose fewer troops in large battles.
