You don't know how long it's been but you've been down in the decrepit deep roads for years. All the Old Gods have been killed, or at least you assume so. The musical voice of the calling ceased years ago. The Darkspawn that remained went into a catatonic state withering away, and those who didn't were quickly killed off. Now only you remain, the last Darkspawn of Thedas. You've wondered on long after the others, but now something stirs in your mind. A voice, your own song has begun, and with it come clarity from the fog over your mind. Thedas has never seen anything like you before... or perhaps it has, who can truly say?

You're a true Darkspawn, there was never anything special about you. But now it seems without the song your mind has made its own. Memories flood to you of fighting under the Archdemon in the fourth blight. You led armies of Darkspawn as a powerful and cunning Alpha. But now you have a mind to truly call your own. You've wandered for centuries and have found yourself in the Deep Roads of Ferelden. Now dangerous even for you as the Dwarves have reclaimed their mighty Thaigs and grown numerous.

Type of Darkspawn (This uses the designs of Orgins Darkspawn)
>>Hurlock. [Spawned from Human Broodmothers they form the spine of the horde and mix cunning and strength. A well mixed balance.]
>>Genlock. [Small and goblin like these creatures come from the dwarves. They are more cunning then most and have a natural magic resistance. But are weak and are normally used as cannon fodder.]
>>Sharlock. [Commonly known as Shrieks they're spawned from elves and are masters of stealth.]
>>Ogre. [These towering behemoths form the shock and siege troops of any horde. Normally their only downside is their brutish nature but you change that. Larger then most and is a priority target.]

Class
>>Emissary. [Magic users of the Darkspawn they use their own kind of Blood Magic known as Blight Magic, but can still use normal magic if needed.]
>>Warrior. [A powerful soldier you fight with steel and claw right in the fray.]
>>Assassin. [You lurk in the shadows and strike at your foes where they least expect it. Cannot be taken with Ogre]

You once lead the armies as a Hurlock Emissary your brutal cunning elevating you above your brethren. Your mastery over the battlefield left you a legend, feared and reviled. When you took the battlefield you incinerated them with fire, vaporized them with lightning, and froze them with ice. As time went on you even began to use blood magic. Who knows how far you may have gone, but it was not to be. The Wardens felled the Archdemon, and you were left to roam. When the old gods were silenced you where left to roam their deaths broke you. But now your mind is your own again.

Looking down you see your form completely bare. Disgust fills you as you think about how you've wondered these roads for years like a mindless animal, having long abandoned your weapons and armor.

First we gotta make sure we're presentable/ready for any trouble that comes our way. After that, wouldn't looking for someone to turn into a brood mother also require reaching the surface?

Also how descriptive is that process gonna be, because from what I vaguely recall turning someone into one of those is horrifyingly evil.
>>
>>3043767
You'll need to reach the surface for other races, but can scout the deep roads for dwarven women and make use of the animals. You'll probably want somewhere safe as they're immobile.

Yeah the process is pretty awful involving force feeding Darkspawn flesh and vomiting into their mouths baby bird style. From the Wiki and codex.

"captured women contract the taint by being force-fed darkspawn tissue and the darkspawn forcefully spew their vomit into the prisoners' mouths. As this happens they gradually develop cannibalistic urges and heavily mutate, eventually becoming fully-fledged broodmothers after devouring massive amounts of flesh, even from their kin. Broodmothers give birth to a large litter at once, between twenty and fifty newborn darkspawn."
>>
>>3043767
>>3043764
You scrounge around the Roads for several hours looking for any equipment you can find. Unfortunately the Deep Roads are much cleaner then you remember them being. All in all at the end of your search you only have a pair of leather trousers, and several leather straps which you bind around your self. For a weapon you find a large jagged piece of metal that may be of some use.

You're close to Dwarven roads as you nearly ran into a patrol of heavily armored Dwarves. A wagon also passed a little later with some supplies.

You crawl around the Deep Roads venturing through the tunnels looking for treacherous beast, encountering many sites. One of which is a vein of Lyrium which is being encroached upon by its red kin. You feel the taint in the red Lyrium and though you pass it now it may be useful for future experiments. Eventually you stumble upon a large nest of five giant cave spiders. They hiss menacingly at you, to which you respond with a guttural roar. They charge you and you cut one down while another bites down on your arm infecting itself. With a heave you toss it off and quickly slice the arm. With a flick you cover them in your tainted blood. Already you hear the whispers of the one that bit you. As they approach to attack again you sent off in a sprint back through the tunnels waiting for the taint to take effect.

By the time you reach the Roads again you stop to see them already in chorus with you. Their ancestors were once tainted, and though it's faded some still remains making them vulnerable to it.

>-Corrupted Spiders- Large spiders that have had their blood mingled with the taint. Normally they’re totally aggressive and live off a diet of Genlocks but may be brought into the fold of the horde by a powerful Darkspawn. Expert ambush predators they make for excellent hit and run fodder.

These pathetic tainted creatures are no match for true Darkspawn, but must make due until you acquire a Broodmother. You're spiders are helpful for catching several large rats that easily fall into their webs. You grab the cocoon rats ripping open the webbing around their mouths. With a slash to your hand you bleed your hand. The stream of blood overwhelms their small forms easily, within moments it spreads to them forcing them to join you. By the time your finished the taint already is warping and mutating the form of the first one. The constant grin that graces your lipless face now feels true to how you feel. It feels good to be in command again. This shall be where it all began anew.

>-Blight Rats- Once normal Rats they’ve been exposed to the taint of the Darkspawn. These rats sprout several spikes from their back and a notable increase in aggression. Along with this comes razor sharp teeth and increased size, roughly that of a small dog.

Honestly, restricting us to a set list of spells will result in faster voting.

You may piss off the "I wanna do anything I want" autists, but structure and limitations are good for a quest.
>>
>>3045676
You can still use your own spells if they seem possible within the limits of magic, and if approved by enough players they'll be stated out accordingly. But these should help resolve things if a spell can't be thought of at the time, while also giving you a sense of familiarity with them.

You're still too wary as of yet to attack a patrol or risk revealing yourself. You continue your search in the tunnels, and prepare to stop when you hear a loud braying. You and your blighted creatures hunt through the tunnels for the source and eventually track it down. Standing in a clear section of almost caved in road is a Bronto, large powerful creatures bred by the dwarves. It stands there munching on deep mushrooms completely unaware of you. You signal the spiders connected to your mind seeing the world through their minds as they crawl above it. Without a moments hesitation they cover in sticky webs from above. The beast panics but the steel-like threads prevent it from escaping, those it breaks quickly replaced by the spiders. Your eyes flutter, drums of your song increasing pace as you call upon the blight in your veins. Soon a greenish black liquid begins to flow from your arms and coalesces into a sphere in front of you. You fling the ball of condensed taint at the creature, the rats scurry past your feet. The ball impacts the creature, but its not enough this is an actual creature without small size or an inborn weakness to help you. The taint flows through it but normally it would take days, but as you gather another ball and the rats bite at its ankles you know that won't happen. For nearly an hour you channel the blight into the creature and at last you feel its struggle cease as its mind is ensnared by your song. With that done you release it from its bindings.

Perhaps you're ready to gain your first Broodmother.

>-Afflicted Bronto- Brontos are large horned armored animals the have been selectively bred over generations by the Dwarves. They’re prized by the Dwarves for their limited diet needs and sure footed nature, commonly used in a role similar to human cattle and horses. Those who have contracted the taint show little change other then their hostility and being accompanied by Darkspawn.

Even if we manage to ambush a woman, we have no place to store her. Can we find a base before drawing heat on us?
>>
>>3045904
Its worth noting it would be very deep in the tunnels but moving her to a new location may be difficult and you'd have to basically mine her bloated form out if you wanted to move her.

For reference about how this'll work every week each Broodmother will have a dice roll off scream for the weekly litter they spawn. Qunari spawn 1d6 ogres for example, while Dwarven Broodmothers birth 1d50+5 Genlocks a week. A separate dice'll be rolled to see if any Emissarys are born etc.

You spend several hours finding a good spot to set the ambush. Finally you decide on a small Road leading off from the main one located around several bends, the Dwarves seem to have ignored cleaning it up as it's strewn with rubble prefect for an ambush. Your spiders lay down a thick cover of sticky webbing over the floor. Rats run and hide under pillars and your Bronto prepares itself for when it shall charge. With that done you send a spider out towards the main road and wait several hours for a patrol to pass. You begin to lose hope but finally through the spider you hear the telltale rattling of Dwarven plate armor. Six Dwarven warriors nearly pass when the spider jumps out and hisses. They jump back and the leader shouts. "Stay back! It's infected with taint... I thought it was wiped out years ago." The spider takes off down the path towards your trap. "Quickly after it! We can't let it spread!" You don't see them but you don't need to you can feel and hear them before that.

They round the corner shortly after the spider and find themselves nearly knocked over as they suddenly stick to the webbing. They look up into time to see your Bronto charge through them. Most are ripped from the web as they sent flying, the rats waste no time in emerging. Several had have had there helmets knocked up and see one is a woman fortunately she is unconscious. You take a step towards her intent on dragging her deeper, but the leader steps in front of you. "Bastard I thought we wiped your damn kind out."

You open your mouth and out pours a deep voice that seems to carry its own echo. "You thought. That was your mistake. In the end you can never truly destroy us, just as you cannot destroy yourselves, for we are a monument to your sin."

The Dwarf charges you trying to cleave you in half but you dodge the clearly telegraphed charge. As he runs past you place your hand your feel the power of blood churn through your veins. Lashing out with that power you latch on to the blood of the Dwarf, you've slowed down the flow almost to a trickle. Every time he moves its like shards of glass push inside of him. For when he moves the very blood in his veins does not. You hear the Dwarf try to mutter out a curse but even that is too much. After a few moments you even begin to see blood trickle from his army as it burst from the pores. Though you've underestimated the will of the dwarf as he breaks your control over your spell.

You lunge our with the jagged metal using it like a spear, but the blow glances off of the Dwarf's heavily armored form. He laughs at your attempt to harm him. "I guess what they say is true, Darkspawn really are only a threat in numbers." He brings the large battleaxe in a arc meant to cleave you in two, but you dodge the blow just as easily as the first. His axe sticks in the stone, forcing him to struggle to pull his axe free of the stone. "Your overconfidence is your downfall, Dwarf. Now beg that your charred flesh will feel no pain." You say as you begin to swing your hand around the metal like a staff. A small fire forms then quickly gathers into a swirling vortex around the metal staff. A gesture with the metal sens the twisting vortex of fire forward in a blast of heat which causes steam to waft from the stone itself. He screams as the flame hits him, it chars his flesh, boils his blood, and cooks him alive in his own armor as it turns a glowing red. You lift the female Dwarf up carrying her in your arms.

As you finish your battle so does the one with your forces. The Bronto lies dead a Dwarven axe planted firmly in its skull, and your other forces did not fair much better. The Dwarves were only beaten by a small margin, for only four that fought your forces they did well, another was also a woman... a waste.

And bind their provisions, their corpses and their weapons on our servants.

we take them with us, or at least put them inside the caves so we can use them later. The same applies to the bodies of our fallen.

Search if there is something else of value on the ground and leave.

You order your remaining creatures to try and drag the corpses while you grab the Battleaxe of the captain, discarding the jagged metal. The spider throws a corpse onto the back of its bulbous body and grabs another with its massive fangs. The rats bite down on a leg and try their best to keep pace. You delve as deep as you can into the tunnels, at least in a few hours. Eventually come along a long since abandoned Dwarven road. It leads to an abandoned Thaig. Not a large city or even village, but more a small collection of about a dozen Dwarven houses. Probably a small settlement that was abandoned when your brethren ruled the Deep Roads. Fortunately the entrance to the road that leads to the Thaig is well hidden found through winding tunnels and finally accessed through a crack barely as wide as a small wagon. You begin making use of three buildings. One is set aside for your lab to make the horde stronger. The second is used to store the two Dwarf bodies you brought. Last seems to have been some small prison meant to hold bandits, or something similar, which you use to hold the Dwarf female. You finish mixing a piece of Dwarf flesh with your tainted blood when the rat you're watching her through sees her regain consciousness. She frantically thrashes in the barren cell searching her person for something.

You enter her cell while she's distracted, the ring of the door closing alerting her to your presence. "I assume you're looking for this." You produce a Dwarven dagger from your trousers. "There's no way of escaping your fate." She charges you knocking you to the ground. You wrestle her several moments as your swallow the Dwarf meat. You gain the underhand holding her down as you vomit the tainted Dwarf meat into her mouth. You leave the prison as she tries to force it back out, but it's to late you know the process has begun.

But now that your horde shall grow what shall you do with it. For once the Darkspawn are free to do what one wishes.

Voting just this one, creating a great empire before becoming is only accepted god sound good.

Still
>>We can truly be a people. [Seek to build a nation that can coexist with the other of Thedas]

We could switch sometimes (especially when we are in great danger or want to concetrate on a single enemy and not coalitions; right now we probably need to boost our numbers a lot and find a desolate/unclaim region of Thedas for start our empire...... or try to takeover this dwarf kingdom, founding a cult should help in this but it will get attention quickly {and the last thing we need is getting hunt now}. Still our "culture", religion and "people" will be probably accepted with raising eyebrows and hate by almost all of Thedas. Wars will be inevitable and that s not a problem since we still want all of the continent ) to this option, afterall we are making a new legacy.

But the top one is still fucking awesome. Is there any way we could pursue both?

Fall back to taking the throne if the other races don't want to play ball

no is probably just one choice.

coexisting or conquering are different afterall

we can wait for see if we can combine or not.
---------
the first one means we want to conquer them not live with them, ad we will essentiallly never accept the existance of other states in Thedas.

we can still form a nation and our people with conquests and imposing our culture/religion/ideals ecc ..... , afterall most of the nations are born this way.

Hey guys QM here on a local computer. Sorry I knida dissapered, but real life came up. My net's going to be out for 3-6 days, so I'll come back when it's resolved and continue this in a .5 thread, ok.

(also I want to note the We can truly be a people. [Seek to build a nation that can coexist with the other of Thedas] Option will kinda follow the line of the Architect thought it's a pretty daunting task as you'll still require broodmothers, and still spread the taint naturally so many view you like a disease. Though if you want you can always switch the end goal later.)
>>
Well I'm back so .5 quest should start later today.
