You are 999, a blobby mass of joy and happiness for all! And you are currently feeling annoyed as you descend through a shining portal to parts entirely unknown

Previously on 999 Quest:

You, Blackwood and Spanko crashed an absolutely titanic thaumaturgic emitter right into an old grumpy Archmage friend's domain. In this case, one Vuindred the Black. And sometime afterwards, after sharing in each other's company and exchanging information, you found yourself directly within the depths of Vuindred's soulscape, opposing whatever force had ended up corrupting him.

You had seemingly emerged victorious eventually, but only there. The G̴͚͎͇̦̠͉̱̪̟à̼̟̙͇̀ţ̺̻̟͜ȩ͉̬̳̮́͘ arose to snuff you out more directly, and in desperation, Vuindred implored you and your friends to claim weapons of your own. And in spite of your survival, the weapon you choose had some...'minor drawbacks'.

Currently, you are floating through the void between worlds onto your next destination, carrying a bitter and ranting Blue version of yourself along with a spineless and babbling Red version. You have a third one who possibly survived, but you can only guess at where he is. In front of you, a quietly snoozing Spanko has somehow tucked a great axe between his feathers and is using it as a pillow, whilst Blackwood remains beside you, deep in thought. Around you, strange things float outside the mirror blue-rays of the wave you are riding to your next destination, some of them seeming to have noticed you.

What are your plans to wait out the time (and possibly help ignore your counterparts)?

>Lets happily sing and dance to everyone, not caring if it annoys Blue.
Whoever said that you can't multi-task (probably one of the doctors) is a filthy liar, you think as you begin to twirl around and sing in the void, carrying around both Blue and Red with two extended pseudopods as you do. As you wave him through the air, Blue sends a stream of profanities down at you, whilst Red just kinda looks like a in-between in being somewhat amused by your actions but also looking like he wants to curl up in on himself and disappear.

Spanko turns in his sleep, and snuggles closer to his axe, muttering about "sugar-sprinkled appleseeds" in his sleep with a smile, whilst Blackwood idly hums along to your jolly tune.

Though is it just you imagining things, or did those strange weird-looking things outside the waves just get closer?

>Lets stop singing and look at the weird things.
You pause in your singing as you decide to look at the strange things now starting to crowd just beyond the blue tides surrounding you, with Blackwood similarly noticing and moving to nudge Spanko awake. Blue doesn't seem to notice the entities, deep-set in his ranting as he is, but Red does and covers his eyes to avoid looking at them.

One of the things drifts closer to the barrier separating you and it, and you get a better look at jsut what it is you're dealing with. And you almost wish you hadn't.

It's eyes fold over themselves in how clustered they are, it's limbs are broken and twitching in every direction when they aren't just hanging limply around its body. Its teeth, of which it has thousands upon thousands of, are jagged and broken things that don't make sense in their arrangement, sticking out of corners of the thing's body where teeth shouldn't be, or even outright breaking off from it, yet still floating around it in a manner akin to a crown. Holes regularly open and close around its body, with osme opening up wide enough for large tongues to slip on through, and then pull themselves back in again.

The entity moves closer, testing itself against the barrier of energy. It slips a single tendril through, which sizzles somewhat and burns away a little bit but not much more. Still, it ends up retracting it but it does move away form the wall of energy. It likely won't take long before it and the rest of its ilk figure out that the barrier isn't all that limiting for them. You likely don't have much time.

What are your plans?

>Use our Snow-Storm ability to create an ice barrier around us. Make it as thick as possible.
You glare at the steadily approaching things, before taking out your Dream Trinket and clutching it,causing it to pulsate with a deep white light. And with little moment spared, you feel the energy within you rising up in response.

With a sudden cry to the air, you unleash your amassed power, watching as a massive blizzard of crystalline frost spreads out and surrounds you in thick layers upon layers of protective ice, the sudden eruption of energy causing your two pseudopods to break and free Red and Blue from your hold, whilst also surprising the entities beyond the twisting wall of energy surrounding you, causing them to startle back somewhat.

You look forward, and you can already tell that you've begun to speed up towards the end of the rift now. You just need to hold on for a little while longer. Hopefully your two counterparts don't complicate matters with this encounter.

One of the entities, braver than the rest of its kin and somewhat larger, darts forward whilst you pondered your situation a bit, and tears its limbs into the shimmering barrier, slowly but surely working to wrench it open for itself even as its limbs start to sizzle and melt. You can see that the surrounding entities are still taken back by your sudden display of power, but you doubt that they will remain that way for much longer now that their fellow has proved that the wall isn't an insurmountable obstacle.

>Use our Voice of Pain ability against the entity attacking our ice wall, which will hopefully be enough to deter it.
The entity continues to try and wrench open the glowing blue barrier, its many tongues tasting at something you can hardly guess at, as it readies itself to dive in and consume you all alongside its fellows.

...At least, that's what would've happened, if you didn't start channeling your voice with enough force to shatter stone directly at it (after giving your friends and counterparts a heads up of course). The waves of pure sound crash into the twsited monstorsity, causing it to screech and rave as it pulls itself back from the rift it was trying to open, which begins to steadily mend itself. The creature and it's fellows seemingly decide that you're not worth it then, and proceed to fade back into the darkness beyond, staring at you all unlbinkingly the entire time, hopefully going off to search for easier prey.

Around you, the tunnel of energy begins to tighten itself to a single point, with the crystalline barrier you've erected buckling under the sheer speeds you have begun to accelerate at. It looks like you're about to reach your stop now.

You should probably hold onto something.

"We'regoingtodiegoingtodiegoingtodiegoingtodiegoingtodiewe'regoingtodie." you can vaguely hear Red having a panic attack as Blue shouts at him and tries his best to get him to calm down. You think you can also hear Blackwood calling to you and Spanko cacking loudly, but things have sped up so much that you aren't sure anymore. The most you can do is focus on creating something to soften your incoming crash.

With a heavy amount of energy being expelled, you will more snow to line the interior and exterior of your ice ball as it continues to speed forward through unnameable astral-space. You can only hope that this will-

A sudden 'snap' is all the warning you get as the ice ball rockets out of the end of the gateway and plummets right towards the ground, smashing into the earth and sending a multi-ton sheet of snow piling out all around the area. You can only barely push your head and limbs out from it to see the clear night-skies high above you. Seems that you aren't quite dead yet. Emphasis on the 'Yet' at the rate that you're going.

>Check on the others
You look around through the bile of snow, and after a bit of tugging and pulling, you find the others. Spanko and Blackwood are mostly okay, being just a bit shaken up (Though Spanko seems a tad bit miffed at you, for understandable reasons), and as you scrape through the snow, you manage to find your counterparts wrapped together, with Blue seemingly having wrapped himself around Red to shield him, to your massive surprise. Though this doesn't last for long as Blue quickly notices you, and unwraps himself from Red by pushing him away, rising up to meet your face.

"Yeah yeah, you can stop staring blob-boy. So what if I saved him? Doesn't mean anything."

>Nah, screw that, everything is going to be fine. Apply hugs and kisses to any injuries, in lieu of proper medical supplies.
Ignoring Blue mostly, you move to your friends, check over their bodies and then apply hugs and kisses of affection to any part of their body that seems injured. Some of the nicks and marks on their bodies almost seem to fade slightly at your touch, though you aren't truly sure.

>a new Skill may soon attain true realization within you

>look around our surroundings.
You decide to actually look around your surroundings then, and you see that there's a few trees around you here and there, as well as a couple of more interesting things like benches or scattered pieces of various papers along the ground. Perhaps you're in some kind of park area?

Looking further, you think you can almost make out the shining glare of lights from some buildings in the distance, standing out amidst the night's own glow.

"Blorble-blorb-blorb?" You turn to all your gathered companions and ask them what they think should be your next step.

"A decent plan of getting around undetected would make for a workable move, I say." Blackwood suggests, with Spanko nodding along it his idea.

"Yeah, I guess that doesn't sound too bad." Blue grumbles out, surprisingly agreeing with something with little true scorn seeping into his voice. "But I think it sounds fucking barebones and not at all smart. We need a disguise of some sort. Something to help us blend in." Red picks himself out of the snow at this point, and actually smiles and nods along to Blue's idea.

"Cack! Lookity-bills! Odd looking bedfellos moving around on the ship-brow! Cack!" Spanko suddenly shouts, darting up and then pointing a wing towards a group of figures that are moving towards your direction. They don't seem to have noticed you yet, but that could certainly change soon.

>use snow Powers to cover our tracks after we hide
"Blorble-blorb [Oh if only we had some amnestics right now.]" you flatly intone before grabbing your two counterparts and yanking them towards the cover of the trees (much to Blue's chagrin), with Blackwood and Spanko moving to the opposite end of the trees away from you. And with a light application of frost, you freeze over your tracks through the snow, masking your presence as the group of five appears in full view.

"I'm telling ya' Chief, I saw I with my own bleedin' eyes. Something huge fell out of the skies around these parts and caused quite a ruckus." one of the five figures says, his cloak a billowing red and his face obscured by a silver mask with three red eyes being the only real feature on it.

"Or maybe your eyes have finally failed your ass? That's also an option." a burly woman with a cigar clenched in her teeth proceeds to snark at the first figure, with the rifle she holds in her grip somewhat lowering as she turns to mock her compatriot.

"Yeah, well that's a fuck you from me, Cassandra, ya' city-slickin' bitch."

"...." the third figure in the group, wearing a yellow shawl to conceal themselves, does nothing other than stand and observe the surroundings as well as their two companions, with the only indication that they're even aware of the escalating jabs between their companions being a soft sigh. With the way they carry themself and how their voice sounded, you suspect this one to be a male.

"Oi! Cut it out you two! Boss is checking out the place." the fourth figure proceeds to shout at her two bickering fellows, slamming a large rod of metal onto the ground, startling the other two from their squabble. Judging from what you can see from your cover, you can see that she's wearing some body-armor all over her body, with some kind of facial mask similar to the first guy obscuring her actual features, but without the red eyes and instead with a visor of some sort.

The fifth figure does not speak or intone whatsoever, body and head completely armored with no separating features beyond the large gun strapped to its back. The hulking individual that likely acts as the leader for this group moves over to your snowpile and examines it for a moment, before calling over the yellow-cloaked third figure with a beckoning hand. Seems that he's noticed something about the snow.

It probably won't be very safe to stay here, even with cover. You're going to need a plan of escape. But what?

You decide to just go ahead with what's likely a dumb and not at all clever plan, and you move out of cover to go and talk with your new friends. As expected, Blue, Red, Spanko and Blackwood are right there telling you not to do this and to come back to the cover, but well, too late!

As you step out from between the trees, you raise a gooey limb and are about to offer a happy greeting to the five individuals but then-

A shot from the three-year masked individual passes over your head and impacts the tree behind you.

"See! Fuckin' told ya! Take that ya' major cunt!" the guy seems just about ready to leap off the ground in joy with how happy he is.

"Yeah, well fuck you too." the woman he was arguing with, 'Cassandra' as you heard, is fiddling with her rifle and trying to ready it for battle, but it doesn't seem to be properly responding at all.

"Kain, get things set up. We don't want this thing escaping in case it's some manner of witch construct." the other female turns to the yellow-cloaked male, gesturing at you with her metal rod, clearly irritated. Whilst the figure doesn't really respond in kind, you get the feeling that he got the message, seieng as how he moves to go and set up something along the ground near you.

The leader of the group merely stares silently at you, rigidly even. Not moving a single muscle, nor showing any signs of actual breathing. But you get the feeling that if you do anything at all, you won't be in for a good time.

With a leaping tackle and a blorbling cry, you leap towards the head figure, who doesnt look at all taken aback and merely draws the gun straped on its back, clearly having expected an attack of some form from you.

If only you could see the look on their face when you wrap yourself around them and instead decide to hug and tickle them. It would probably be amazing.

As their leader goes down under your tide of love and hugs, the other four individuals go into full blown panic mode, absolutely flipping their lids.

"KAIN! Hurry up with those things. Chief's under attack!" the woman with the large rod shouts, before rushing towards you and her leader with weapon at the ready, fully intent on bashing you free from her boss. Cassandra and the other male are tying to get the former's gun working properly, but it still looks like it might take a while, so you have some time with those two.

The yellow-cloaked form of Kain seems to heave a sigh, and you can briefly catch what looks like bits and pieces of metal spinning along the ground in front of him. Wonder what that's about?

Though really, you should be worrying more over the oncoming charge of a woman with a fucking battering ram's weight in metal. That sounds like a more pressing issue here.

You continue to hold onto the leader of the group, who's once furious attempts to free themselves from you have stilled, them having calmed in your arms. Doesnt stop their compatriot from trying to charge you down though, which is a rather big problem for you.

...Or at least it would be, if you didn't see a certain sword fly and hit her in the side with a 'thunk'. The actual attack was pretty clearly ineffective, but it does stop the woman in her tracks as her head snaps to observe her aggressor, which you and the other aggressors also do.

"[H-H-Hey! Y-You get away f-from him!]" Red shouts, looking like he wants to break away and flee at any moment, but he still stands his ground to help you. A welcome surprise being honest.

"Hmph. Multiple hostiles. You might've been right about this one, Marcus." the woman known as 'Cassandra' grunts, cocking her large gun and raising it in Red's direction. "And with my little problem dealt with, AND little red here opening itself up for a clear shot, there's no way that I can miss." And before you move to intercept, she's already moving to pull the trigger.

At least up until a slash in the air knocks the gun right out of her grip and cleanly slices through some part of it or another. Standing some feet away from the shocked and babbling woman, Blue stands, looking almost bored at the entire display as he grips his sword. Behind him, you see that Blackwood and Spanko have taken up defense positions beside Red, weapons raised and glaring straight at the hostile offenders.

"[What in the name of all that is holy did you get yourself into this time Orange? Because fucking fuck, this is one giant clusterfuck right here.]"

"That is fucking bullshit. Probably to a degree that I haven't heard from you before, Orange. And that's saying something.]" Blue snorts, looking unimpressed overall with your logic. "[Besides, they tried to kill Red. Fairly certain that qualifies them as a +12 in the evil department right from the get-go.]"

"Heh, deviants trying to label US as 'evil'. Now I've seen it all." the woman with the metal rod chuckles to herself, before suddenly rushing towards Blue with her weapon raised and aiming to smash it down right on top of him. Suddenly however, you feel a spike of energy, and without any warning a set of binding chains shoot forward and wrap around your body, lifting you off the ground and away from the mysterious group's leader, much to the voiced surprise of your companions, with even Blue turning his head for but a moment to observe (which gives his opponent a bit of room to press in, but not much). Looking down, you see the figure of 'Kain' standing and observing you idly from the ground, a strange pattern of merged metal sitting by his feet and glowing a deep yellow, likely providing the power behind your restraints.

>Greet friend Kain, introduce ourself and our companions. Apologize for what must have been a rather...loud entrance, and ask if they can tell us about our current location.
"Blorble-blorble! Blorb-blor!" You chirp pleasantly, smiling down at the cloaked man and waving over to your friends and pointing it yourself, before finally waving to the area around you, asking about the general location you have found yourself in.

Kain continues to stare up at you silently.,hsltth masked figure of 'Marcus' guffaws and leaps his leg.

"Heh! Didn't think I'd see the day when a bunch a gosh damn' deviants would be such an easy catch! Guess you'll be owing me, Cassandra."

"As if." the woman in question sorts as she goes to pick up her damage gun and starts to inspect it. "If Miriam over there is any indication, then these little bastards are a lot tougher than we might be thinking. And the fact that the orange shit there took down our boss almost instantly only cements it. We need to be on our toes here." She looks over her gun, checking the damage, sighs, and then drops it before turning back to her allies, namely the one known as 'Miriam' locked in combat with Blue.

"[Orange, I'd advise that you quit it with the lovey-dovey shit. These fucker's are trying to kill us!]" Blue shouts, reflecting another strike from his opponent, who has now decided to dismiss any form of tact and has instead descended into sending a flurry of unfocused destruction down upon your counterpart.

"I believe that your mimicry is correct this time, my dear lad." Blackwood adds in. "These ruffians certainly aren't all that friendly it seems." you see him raising his own blade threateningly alongside Spanko when Marcus turns towards them and Red, and starts quietly chuckling to himself.

>Mass builder at max power
Taking that as your cue to go, you start pushing energy through your form, trying to compel it to grow via internal power. And surprisingly, it does.

>Mass Builder has advanced upon the steps of realization (D). You have finer control over when and how you grow. Extremely slightly, but it's still development.

Shattering the bonds around you, you plummet back to the ground, hitting it like a particularly heavy rock. Looking up, you see that Kain has tilted his head at you, whislt tne rest of the attackers are slightly gaping at oyur sudden uptick in growth, even one like Miriam who is still locked in combat with Blue.

You also notice that their leader is starting to wake up as they slowly groan back to consciousness. That might be a problem.

>Voice of pain
That's it, you're ending this. Motioning to Blackwood, Spanko and Red to get back some (with Blue leaping back from his opponent towards the tree cover to recuperate after tiring), you begin pulling energy out from the depths of your being. Funneling that power directly into your own voice for one major showing. And without any further warning, you begin to shout-

The leader had already leapt to their feet by the time you began to open your mouth, and Cassandra, Marcus and Kain were motioning to shoot/restrain you, but by then it's too late. Your voice spreads throughout the area, causing the trees to sway and the wind to pick up, the sheer force of it all knocking your opponents away or sending them to their knees in pain, hands clutched at their ears.

You keep up the noise for a good minute or so, before it quietly comes to a complete stop. The air is still and silent now, and your enemies have fallen to the ground, still groaning and recovering from your attack.

"Perhaps we might be able to meet out proper discourse now?" Blackwood questions, looking to the group of individuals who had launched their attack on you.

"Yeah...You can go screw the broad-side of a barn ya' sonuva bitch." Marcus spits, voice coming out particularly distorted with the growling of the words, even as he clearly pushes through his pain, an action similarly mimicked by Miriam and Cassandra on either side of him. Their growls of hate are almost enough that you don't catch the sound of tires on earth and the wailing of a police siren-

Wait. Tires? Police-sirens?

Looking past your still-reeling foes, you see a police car cruising down towards you, all lights blaring. An odd scene to be sure, and one unlikely to end well normally, but you could maybe find it workable once they slow down and step out of the vehicle.

...Except They aren't slowing down, you note with some surprise. Even a you watch the car crash through park benches and tables on its way to you, it doesn't even hitch. Heck, it doesnt even look dented! And suddenly, as you continue to watch the unnatural police vehicle continuing to ear down on you, something tears its way into your hearing. It sounds garbled and full of static, like it's coming out of an old and worn down radio, but you can still clearly make out the sounds all the same. Like it's blaring on all possible frequdncies, both physical, mental and spiritual. Completely pure and brutal in its one statement.

"VIOLATION OF PUBLIC PROPERTY IS A SERIOUS OFFENCE, FUCKERS."

"Blorble? Blorb-blorb? [Think these guys know what this is?]" you say, raising your arms somewhat and glaring at the quickly approaching vehicle.

"[Yeah, you assholes know what this is?]" Blue decides to add his two cents, waving his own sword at the approaching car.

"What, us? How the fuck should we know-" you hear Cassandra start to respond, but then-

The woman doesn't even get to finish her sentence before the car barrels into her, sending her body flying through the air before hitting the ground with a sickening smack. And even with that, the car doesn't stop moving, continuing on towards the battered woman, before you watch as its wheels move over her head and-

Bits and pieces of bone and brain matter go flying everywhere, blood splattering over a sizeable area. You even see an eye land smack-dab at Red's feet through some awful turn of luck, causing him to step back in fear and revulsion, audibly whimpering. Even Blue and Spanko seem utterly sickened by what just occurred, which is entirely understandable. This is certainly no friend.

The car swerves around, its hood and tires all splattered with blood, which only piles on as it crushes Cassandra's body some more beneath its wheels as it turns. As it faces you again, you see the drivers door open and a figure steps out, baton in hand. Its eyes are a bloody, hardened red, and its mouth is a blackhole, sucking in whatever light there is.

>Freeze them
You turn to assess the reactions of your now frenemies, but it doesn't take long before you see (and hear) Marcus unloading shot after shot into the approaching anomaly, cold and terrible rage guiding his fire as it tears into the monstrosity coming upon you.

"I-It killed her. Didn't even gives her a goddamn chance..." Miriam is on the ground, voice incredibly somber even as you move toward her alongside Blue.

"[No use crying about it. The thing that killed her is right fucking there. Come help us kill it already.]" Blue grunts, seeming annoyed by the woman's sorrow, but also raising valid points. Better to take this thing out than grieve whilst its still around.

Miriam looks up at you, turns to Marcus silently firing at the coming horror, and then at her boss wjo's already unstrapped their own weapon and has leveled it in the direction of the creature. Even the ever-rising Kain has taken on a seemingly less than pleased look, and has begun to scrawl some runes into the ground, muttering quietly under his breath.

Seeing her compatriots fighting the murderer of her friend seems to bolster Miriam's own resolve, and with a sudden start, she grabs her metal weapon and rushes towards the anomaly, intent on avenging the fallen.

"Blorble-blorbit-blorb. [Spanko, guard Blackwood and get ready to fly. Red, if the humans get overwhelmed, get them out of here quick. Blue? You're with me.]" You belt out instructions quickly, which gets you sharp nods from all your friends, and a fierce grin from Blue. And with all that said, you clutch your Dream Trinket and begin to focus.

And with a sudden roar, you unleash all of your focused power directly at the anomaly, spires of ice jutting out of the ground and spiking their way through it, just as Miriam and Marcus move themselves back after providing their own attacks. Even Kain and their leader seem taken aback with the sudden showing of might you jsut displayed.

>Snow-Storm has advanced up through the ranks of realization (F+++). Through focus and fury, you may lance your enemies with the might of a thousand spires of ice. Well...maybe not a 'thousnad' Yet, but close enough for now!

The anomaly is restricted by your ice at the moment, but it seems somewhat disgruntled at the least, unblinking eyes glaring at you all with alien fury and hate. And that screaming , scratchy voice like a broken radio-set tears through the air again, coming form both the anomaly, and somewhere else you can feel nearby...

"YOU FUCKERS ARE IN FOR IT NOW. ASSAULTING AN OFFICER IS A SERIOUS CRIME, SHITSTAINS."

Looking past the threat, you can only watch as the ice spires start to bubble and melt around the entity's form, heating up slowly but surely. You probably won't have much time before it starts to move again.

What are your plans for attack?

>He's going to burn our ice? Lets burn him! Purifying Touch!
You hold your arm out, an action that seems to confuse the group of soldiers behind you, but gets only looks of understanding from your friends and counterparts. You can already feel the energy building upwards, just as the spires of ice holding the anomaly begin to melt away into a bubbling slurry.

As blazing white flames race up the length of your arm, you close your eyes and focus on the rising energy you have here and now. And without any warning, it surges forward, the dam breaking completely.

Your body explodes into white flames, speeding towards the now-freed anomaly whose eyes almost seem to widen in surprise as the expanding wall of light bears down on it. Whatever its reaction was, the light doesn't-*you* don't care. You surge onward and envelop it.

The earth quakes from the chaotic impact of the purifying power, the land itself buckling under the raw spiritual might you had unleashed upon the anomaly. The sheer force of the energies released sends both your friends, counterparts and once-opponents flying back, with various cries of of worry, surprise and fright to go along with the booming noise of the explosive power.

As the land begins to still from its shaking, as the purifying power begins to finally slow to a trickle and then stop completely, you slump forward. Energy spent, you are met with exhaustion in its entirety. In any normal scenario, this would seem the ideal time to finally lay down and rest. Let sleep take you in her great arms and to slip into a blissful expanse free of woe.

>Skill "Purifying Explosion" (D) has attained realization within you. Through the focusing of your light, you may release it all in a massive burst to tear through your foes. The exhaustion probably isn't worth it though

...How unfortunate that the night is not over yet.

"NOW YOU'RE REALLY FUCKED, COCKSUCKER. RUN, FUCKER, RUN."

You can see through the haze of kicked up dirt and destroyed land, the glare of two headlights, like the eyes of some terrible monster from Hell. And you can also make out the unmistakeable noise of the fury of an engine revving itself to life.

"Blorble! Blorb-blorb! [Red! Blue! Get the humans away from here!]" you shout out to your counterpas, as the demonic car begins to speed up towards you.

"[On it!]/[R-Right!]" You hear them both respond to your order, right before you leap out of the way of the oncoming anomaly. Dodging away from it you turn to Spanko next.

"Blorble-blorble, blorb! [Spanko, hit it now!]"

Nodding to you, the fine Doctor tears into the air, and screeches loudly at the monstrous vehicle, which swivels towards him as the waves of sound impact it, sending cracks rippling along its hood.

Leaping up along a tree, you jump from it, and as you hit the open air, you morph your form into that of a form, before channeling power into your form and belting it out directly down at the monstrosity below.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=bSx_sO9cYvY

The wave of melting power descends upon the car, tearing pieces of it apart and sending them flying and scattering through the air, twisting and burning and freezing every which way. You even see its tires melting and breaking apart, somewhat limiting its movement as pieces of its form are torn apart and destroyed. The land around it fairs little better, as its blasted apart in a storm of chaotic power that melts and burns it away, freezing and skewering the ground and trees to the point where only ashen remains are left.

>Song Of Fury has attained further realization (E++). Your degree of power has grown, and you can now utilize the furious energies of song even better, if only just. Just try to keep collateral to a minimum.

"YOU'RE...GOING...TO...PAY..FUCKERS."

The anomaly draws itself back from the storm of energy, but you can clearly see that it's been badly beaten by the song, with gaping holes torn up all across its frame. It almost looks like it's beginning to weaken with your continued assault...

...Which is why you're taking by surprise when the front of the car splits open and a gnarled limb shoots out of it towards you. You manage to dodge away from it, causing the foul-smelling tendril to retract back into the gaping fleshy maw that the anomaly now sports at its front. Seems it has a couple more tricks to show you before it goes down.

>That's all you have to say? You're boring
>A perfect target for a well aimed freeze beam
>Use our Rain-Call ability and attempt to focus the lightning bolts from it so that they hit 973.
>Raise your shortsword high to the sky and let your power course through it shaping it into a longsword sparkling gold with your power and cut down the foul creature with it
"Blorble? Blorb." you deadpan at the slowly regenerating car's lack of variance in its threats. Really though, these anomalies need some new material.

>Trait "Prince Of Snark" has attained realization within you (F-)! You can be more than a little sarcastic when it comes to certain things. But at least you don't do it often!

The car shoots out another tendril at you, sputtering spider legs shooting out from its sides and underbelly to carry it along the ground now. Fortunately, Spanko moves to intercept the attack, and cuts the limb of with his great axe, causing the severed portion to go flying off, and the stump to begin spouting a smelly black fluid as it forcefully retracts back into the anomaly it originated from. And without giving it a chance to follow up with another screaming rant at you, you fire off a beam of pure ice right into its gaping maw, sealing the rift closed.

"FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU." Though it honestly doesnt seem to impact the thing's ability to curse you much, if at all.

Ignoring the raving anomaly, you instead decide to focuscon your Dream Trinket once more, and you begin to steadily channel power into it, and with that stored energy, you call in the storm clouds.

The clouds move along the night sky, bringing with them their rain and general all-around coldness, but that's okay. That's exactly what you need, you think as you grin slightly, looking up towards the skies.

Focusing oyur will, you manage to wrangle some of the bolts of lightning that now rage through the night, and with a swing of a hand, you send them striking down towards the anomaly on the ground below, with at least six separate bolts landing themselves directly on top of it, with two more striking the ground around it and lighting fires beneath it.

The anomaly weakly tries to maneuver itself up to you, the ice in its maw having shattered with the lightning strikes, clearly trying to ready another attack, but it instead topples over onto the ground, its insectoid limbs barely managing to support it.

Inside you, you can feel the sword Vuindred offered you pulsating silently, calling out for you to wield it here and now. It's time to end this.

"BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORB!!!" Nothing more is said beyond your roar and charge, as you rush towards the wounded monstrosity to end this once and for all. Your sword glows and shines brightly in your grip as you approach your enemy, still feebly trying to push itself off the ground.

"CAN...STILL...END...YOU...FUCKER. CAN...STILL...END...YOU..."

Spines and tendrils erupt outwards from the anomaly at that moment, streaking through the air towards you in one last desperate bid to destroy you. You don't even blink as you leap over, past and through them, the shining blade in your grip guiding you forwards.

The abomination vomits a sphere of spiked, congealed flesh and blood at you from its gaping maw, faces along the ball screaming and moaning as it surges forward. With a single slash, you dissipate the corrupted flesh and speed ahead, at last closing the gap between you and the creature.

It raises its spiderlike legs and attempts to crush you beneath its bulk. You parry its attacks, slicing off legs and tendrils as they come, cutting through its underside and causing black fluid to go spraying along the ashen ground. It creams at you in its staticky, broken voice and opens its mouth wide before diving to swallow you whole in an instant. You leap up and over it as it comes down upon you, its mouth smashing into the ground where you had stood moments prior. And as you hit the apex of your jump, you twist and angle your body back down, gleaming sword moved to face right towards it. And then you fall.

The monstrosity doesn't have time to move out of the way, doesn't have time or strength to make for another barrage. It can only scream and scream and curse as you fall upon it, blade pointed downwards to skewer it right through whatever hellish equivalent of a heart it may possess.

Around the blade, the thing's form melts away, sloughing into nothingness as the light of your sword burns it. The anomaly writes and continues to screech in anguish and pained fury, as its form bursts into dark flames that are extinguished by the shining light you wield as a sword. And in but a few more moments, the screaming ends, and the darkness fades away entirely, your sword now embedded in the cracked earth.

The blade shines brilliantly for a moment more, before quietly fading into a dull glow, before the light ceases entirely. But not before you hear it 'ring' with a single pulse of light, towards you. A notice of a job well done. Of true heroism.

>The Four Sword has begun to acknowledge you as a worthy Hero and wielder. Your bond with it has grown (D+). It shall now respond to you whenever you face a force of evil too strong to normally fight. Your first step on a path unclear has begun...

With a content sigh and a silly grin, you rest.

You push yourself up some using the blade for support. This has been a really long night, and you want to sleep, but well, duty calls and all that.

Pulling out your (and isn't that a giddy thing. You have a sword!) sword, you decide to move on over to your group of friends, counterparts and frenemies. And just in time too, as Blue seems to be engaging in a 1-v-2 glaring match with Miriam and Marcus, as the mercenary group's leader and Kain stand off to the sidelines and engage in an exchange of some kind. You also see Blackwood and Red embracing Spanko, right before coming over to Blue.

All in all, not as bad as you expected.

You move over to the group, and embrace them all in a hug (which startles Blue and the other two our of their glaring match). And you mean all of them, as you reach out and grab Kain and their boss in some extra pseudopods to add them to the group-hug. After all, you've gotta share the love right?

As you hold your friends, clones and the humans together, a calm voice startled you out of your joyful hugging. Not malevolent though, just familiarity strange.

"I see that you have emerged victorious yet again. With new allies at your side as well."

Turning along with your friends, you see a familiar figure dressed in a red suit in a wheelchair, seated calmly and peacefully alongside a purple-coloured mass of slime like yourself with a book in its hands.

>Ah, Stephen! Blackwood! Spanko! This is the man who had saved me and by the looks of it he has done so again. You have my thanks for saving my double, friend
"BLOORBLE!!" With a single joyous cry, you rush over to your Purple counterpart and begin to hug him tightly, squeezing his body against you.

"[Good to see you too, Orange.]" your purple double chuckles whilst hugging you back. "[And Red and Blue too.]" He looks over to the other two counterparts, who have started making their way over to you.

"[Good to see you're alive, you crazy asshole.]" Blue grunts out, crossing his arms at you both.

"[P-Purple, you're o-ok!]." Red stutters out, sounding on the brink of tears. "[I-I t-t-thought that you got h-hurt.]"

"[Worry not my brothers, I am as fine as can be. Not in small part to the man you see seated beside me.]" he motions over to the man in red, who chuckles slightly. Though something else catches your attention for a moment. Namely the 'brothers' bit. Sure, you're technically siblings and all, but you wouldnt think that Purple would grow so used to your separate existences that he'd already start calling you 'brothers', with all that implies.

But it feels..."nice" you guess. You don't exactly have any family (at least, not any family that isn't horrendously eldritch and completely evil in some way), so hearing him care for you, all of you, like that is a nice change. Maybe you could come to care for them that way someday? Who knows.

>Your bond with Purple has increased (D+).! You feel like you've grown closer with him, and him with you. Though you still don't know everything that about him or the others being truthful.

Turning from those thoughts, you move up and hug Stephen, thanking him animatedly for saving your counterpart.

"Your friend had fallen out of creation as you had before. And though he was more skilled in magic than you were at the time, he likely would not have lasted very long had I not been there." The man says with a small smile, gently rubbing a hand on you.

"Blorble, blorb-blorb-blorb! [Blackwood, Spanko! This is the man who came and saved me, and by the looks of things, Purple too!]" You turn to your two most confused friends and tell them of just who the man is and what he had done for you back in Arcadia.

"Ah, well if you're a friend of the young lad-err, lads, then you're a friend of mine." Blackwood responds, and reaches a hand out to shake the wheelchair-bound man's own, alongside Spanko who offers something about "many appleseeds twoford, Medila thankease!" before starting to yodel at the man.

"Yeah, yeah. This happy-sappy shit is good and all, but who the fuck are you? And what's your relation to the deviants?" Miriam suddenly chooses to cut in, brandishing her weapon angrily and pointing it at the man in red, alongside Marcus and their boss.

"Blorble, blorb-blurble." you babble to the woman, but judging by how her face seems to somehow grow *more* furious (and by how Marcus, their leader and even Kain seem more agitated), you probably didn't come off well. Or at all.

"What my young friend is trying to explain is that I am an aide to him. A 'friend' if you will." The man in red decides to explain in your stead. "Hi, my name is Stephen. I'm not a demon."

He says it in that same chipper tone that you're caught completely off guard by it. Same for everyone else.

"I belieive that this is has been a long night, and everyone here is quite tired, so I believe that I shall be taking these brave few to a safer location. Until we meet again." He waves at them, before he, you and all of your friends begin to vanish into a warm-feeling light.

"Wait, you can't just leave you fucking bastar-"

And in a flash of warmth and the a feeling of deep contentment, you vanish into the light. And with tins feeling, you can already tell that whatever awaits you on the other side, you'll be ready for it.

...All of you. Together.

Haven't read them myself, but I know the characters and setting well enough I think. Personally, I'm half-tempted to add Voyager Witches in somewhere, probably to fuck with some Mages.

>I find it interesting how Great will took interest in us and sent Stephen to our aid
To the Axiom, you have a very important role to play in saving reality from destruction. You're not quite Messiah-tier (and won't be for a loooooooong time), but it's keeping an eye on you.

Alongside some less than savory entities.
>>
>>3080396
Cool, if you have any questions on the setting or how witches and magic works in Umineko feel free to ask, I am confident of my knowledge of the setting and I'd be glad to answer them to the best of my ability
Voyager witches at low end are at least multiversal reality warping wizards, from my limited knowledge of WoD setting somewhere at ArchMage level of power at high end their true forms are abstract eternal and immutable lovercraftian like axioms of reality
>>
>>3080413
The Voyagers would more than likely take an interest in the Supernal, simply on grounds of how similar the entities in it are to themselves. Though I doubt their influence would be any better than that of the Exarchs.

Humans are blind and asleep tossed about the waves of fate and unable to create anything however the ground they stand on is concrete, gods are without restrictions they create fate, world anything however they have even lost the restriction of their own meaning and witches stand in the middle weaving and playing with fate as they please but with definite restrictions they must accept else they fall into oblivion and lose themselves.
Umineko witches become witches by transcending human world, expanding their awareness and waking up and realising they are protagonists of their story, creating their own unique magical systems shaped by their beliefs and experiences and as it grows so do they and it is also the source of their titles i.e. Witch of Miracles, witch of origins, witch of certainty. Umineko witches are their own growing and evolving gameboards (universes) most are bound to their personal worlds however voyagers differ in this regard as their magical systems are so broad and universal that they trascend their own gameboard and become universal beings existing everywhere at once (multiple manifestations at once), this is why voyagers can move between worlds freely and interfere with them and why they are so afraid of boredom. They need constant stimulation to remind themselves that they are alive and ground themselves in reality as they are in constant danger of being overhelmed, turning into seaweed at the bottom of the sea of nothingness, forgetting their own identity and becoming one with the creator. http://umineko.wikia.com/wiki/Lambda%27s_Diary
Perhaps something about this is similar to WoD mages, you'd be more qualified to tell. I don't know if this wall of text meant anything but if it did I'm glad I could help. And hey at the end of the day canon doesn't matter it's your own setting of your own quest, you are free to interpret anything how you wish, it's your privilege as a Game-I mean Quest master. Anyway, bless you OP I love your quest
>>
>>3080522
>Perhaps something about this is similar to WoD mages, you'd be more qualified to tell. I don't know if this wall of text meant anything but if it did I'm glad I could help.
It actually does sound like WoD Archmages. Most especially in the "waking up" bit. Though it doesn't have the whole Watchtowers intervening at all, and seems more like a case of self-realization.

Also yes, that does indeed help some. It makes for a good base if I ever decide to include the Voyagers directly.
>>
>>3080575
>Though it doesn't have the whole Watchtowers intervening at all
Then you think about it Voyagers are like Watchtowers in of themselves in a way, in their quests to escape boredom they sometimes uplift humans to witchdom and interestingly enough just like with watchtowers these uplifted witches have similarities to their Voyagers. Lambda (who is said to have many powerful and crazy friends all over the sea of fragments) is a witch who represents human potential, possibilities and certain power of will and Beatrice who is guarded by her sought to create an infinite out of her limited fate through the power of her certain will. Bern who represents God's cruelty, inescapable fate and who knows that Miracles don't exist, she uplifted Erika the witch of truth who seeks only to expose the cold hard truth destroying hopes and dreams and killing their possibilities and will making them think they can't change their fate.
Oh and speaking about the Creator they and Axiom could be made into the same entity without any complications just saying they are quite similiar in many ways
>>
>>3080652
The Voyagers certainly have a lot of similarities to the Watchtowers to be sure, but Id personally consider them more 'human' than the Watchtowers. For all their evil and cruelty, you can actually interact with the Voyagers in a human-sense, and get a feel for what they actually are. You dont have that luxury with the Watchtowers, who are so vast and alien that you may as well be trying to chat up the entirety of existence.

>Oh and speaking about the Creator they and Axiom could be made into the same entity without any complications just saying they are quite similiar in many ways
They are also really similar, though the Creator is more an unconscious expanse that has no true ability to reflect on its actions or existence, or even affect things in any external manner. Whereas the Axiom, even in spite of its alieness and cosmic totality, can actually be bothered to watch out for mortal life and takes efforts to free them from divine tyranny.
>>
>>3081018
Creator also acts it made existence exist in the first place and continues to maintain it however it's actions and mind are incomprehensible and on another level entirely, alien even to Voyagers you know it's kind of like trying to explain God's mind irl, you just can't
>>
>>3081018
And yeah differently from Watchtower's they have convenient human avatars which can be interacted with
>>
>>3081049
And besides WTC is not under threat of tyrannical gods and demons
>>
>>3081049
The Creator acts of ensure the world exists to begin with, as the source code of reality (much like the Supernal deos), but it's something so unfathomable that to enter it is to essentially suffer the complete deletion of what you are and embody. Which is why Featherine stays one step short of attaining true power beyond all reckoning, because of the cost of such.

The Axiom on the other hand, whilst being equally unfathomable, can at least look out for the little guys, and actively works to ensurre that mortal life isn't exploited for Evil's benefit. It's something that would equally terrify someone like Featherine, but it's actually aware that she exists.

Bernkastel, who was tormented by a inescapable and certain fate which could only be escaped by a probability so close to zero it could be called a miracle, escaped her hell by creating a miracle. That's why she's a witch of Miracles because her endless hell connected her soul to the concept of fate, predestination and God's cruelty for she understands and has experienced herself that miracles are only things which are unlikely to happen and so she is free to wander everywhere and everytime for her gameboard is all all-encompassing and all-embracing the stage on which reality is set. Still her entire being is just a tiny thing, like a mite feeding off of a greater creature and although differently from witches whose height of evolution is limited by their gameboard her gameboard has no such limits, for this reason she is truly free, she's terrified of manifesting on a higher levels out of fear of losing her own meaning and as such the power she wields is limited

Lamdadelta, who was tormented by a inescapable and certain fate which could only be escaped by a will so powerful it could be called certainty, escaped her hell by creating a certain fate. That's why she's a witch of Certainty because her endless hell connected her soul to the concept of possibility, hope and human will so she is free to wander everywhere and everytime for her gameboard is all all-encompassing and all-embracing the will of actors to change the course of the play.

Sometimes their lower manifestations aren't even aware of the actions of their higher manifestations. (Bern we see in Umineko didn't remember the letter she sent to Featherine which described exactly how her lower world avatar would be lured to Featherine's domain and how shocked and scared she'd be)

Thought I'd write this up since thread is about to drop off anyhow and I don't want to fill other thread with this stuff.
