You are Inari Riku, a shinigami possessing the rank of Captain and a living shintai to one-third of the great kami Inari. Awakened after several centuries of dormancy, you now face the task for which you have long been preparing: the defeat of the traitor Aizen Sōsuke.

“Thank you,” you bow slightly to Inari, acknowledging her key role in your nearly-miraculous revival. “Without your assistance in this plot of mine, who can say what my presence in the past could have changed?”

“There is one god who might be able to do just that,” the fox-tailed goddess admits candidly, “however I cannot advise speaking with him on the subject. I for one find conversation with him to be...”

“Boding?” you offer.

“Horrifying,” Inari corrects you. “He sometimes forgets what time 'now' is, and begins inadvertently speaking of the past or future as though it is the present. And for him, I have always suspected those things are truly interchangeable.”

“That is.... disturbing,” you agree. “Then I suppose we were never meant to know. So long as our plan worked that will have to suffice.”

“I believe you will find things precisely as you left them,” Inari informs you cheerfully. “I was keeping track for quite a long while.”

“Good,” you nod in approval. “Aizen still turned traitor, and Yoruichi is still my wife?”

“Who and who now?” Inari asks quizzically.

Your gaze narrows. “Now is not the time.”

“I could not resist,” Inari chuckles. “Though I do have one serious fact which I must mention. One which I uncovered over the centuries, and have kept to myself for fear of altering the timeline.”

“And that is?” you ask.

Inari sighs. “The identity of the being known as the 'Soul King', and the role of the Royal Special Task Force.”

“Otherwise known as the 'Royal Guard,” you grumble mutinously. “I may have heard of them.”

“Tell me, daughter dearest,” Inari continues in a tone caught halfway between grim and amused. “How much do you know of the mythical background of the islands of Japan?”

“That the gods Izanagi and Izanami had something to do with it,” you admit. “Other than that I assumed the details were... at least somewhat different from the stories.”

“In some regards,” Inari continues. “However the most glaring discrepancy was the fate of the two gods.”

“That is, until recently.”

“So there was another Captain after all?” the smaller of the two Sternritter comments, running his fingers through his hair to push it back out of his eyes. “So which one is this?”

“That would be Kusajishi Riku,” the larger one declares. “You should consider paying more attention to the briefings, Askin.”

But you are hardly even listening to this developing argument, as another matter is preoccupying you. Instead of addressing the two quincy you slowly approach Yoruichi, watching her responses carefully for any clear signs of recognition. Meanwhile she seems to watch you just as carefully, as if trying to figure out what you are doing. Of course that makes it impossible to gauge her response accurately.

So instead you do something dramatic... and immensely satisfying... to try and force a more pronounced response.

“What are you...” she begins, before you frame her face with your hands and plant a passionate kiss on her lips.

Thankfully, after a second of surprise that puts a seed of doubt in your mind, she reciprocates and pulls you into a close embrace.

“It has been a long time, from my perspective,” you admit after breaking the kiss. “Too long. Far too long.”

“How long?”

“I was under the effects of Jikanteishi for several hundred years,” you admit. “And that was after roughly one century of training.”

“I'm sorry.”

“Do not be,” you insist sternly. “The fact that things are as they should be suggests to me that this is how things were meant to happen the whole time. And so that is what is important here.”

“Wait... so you think that this is some kind of causal loop?” Yoruichi asks for clarification.

You nod. “I do. And at very least, it means that a worse crisis has been avoided.”

“I knew you'd be back,” Yoruichi purrs.

I'm calling it, I'm aching too badly and in too many places to do this. Whatever it is that's fucking me up it isn't JUST carpal tunnel, as I'm now feeling it across my back, in my triceps, and across my ribs.

It's pretty clearly not a heart attack or a stroke, so nothing immediately life-threatening, but I can't continue tonight the way things are.

I'll do my best to put up a new thread for Claymore tomorrow night, and update through the week if I can. If that plan changes for any reason I'll announce it on Twitter.

I had a virus two years ago, made me sore all over and gave me alternating cold sweats and hotflashes to the point i couldn't sleep along with extremely sensitive skin to the point that just my shirt rubbing against my skin was painful.
The next day i felt fine, then that night i had a heart attack.

The doctors took a fuckton of blood and never did figure out what it was, just that it was a virus, and that it got to my heart. Those samples are probably in a government lab somewhere.
If something's funky, get that shit checked out. You never know what it'll turn into.
>>
>>3052798
The doctors already have enough samples from me that they could probably clone and replace all my best bits, but yeah. How I feel a few hours from now will decide when I go back in to get this shit sorted out. Monday at the latest, tomorrow if it doesn't get better, tonight if it gets worse.

Will update on twitter when I have something more concrete to say.

Update here as well: since it seems that the pain has diminished I plan to start a new Claymore thread tonight and run both on an update-a-day schedule until next weekend, at which point I'll reassess the situation.

You decide that of the two, you'd rather figure out first and foremost what the skinny one is capable of. The larger of the two is obviously the physically powerful type, though he almost certainly has some other form of gimmick, but it's not physical power you need to be worried about in your present form. Any amount of physical power can be overcome with the appropriate countermeasures, or simply a greater physical power.

But if the other one possesses a conceptual power, that could be a longer-term problem. Particularly given Yoruichi's surprise that he's even alive it seems that he may be far more durable and competent than he appears.

“Well then,” you declare, staring straight at the quincy, whose name you believe you caught before. “Your name was Askin, was it not?”

“Might be,” Askin replies cryptically, watching you cautiously for any overt signs of hostility. “Depends on why you want to know.”

“I am simply observing the formalities of battle,” you admit candidly. “I had quite a while to consider things, and I determined that my current form would place me under significant scrutiny upon my reappearance. So I wish to give certain... others... as little reason to take issue with me as I can.”

“I was meaning to ask,” Yoruichi admits. “But then you attacked me with your lips and I kind of lost my train of thought.”

“If that is a complaint I could refrain from doing so again in the future.”

“No complaints,” Yoruichi replies instantly. “Let's not say things we don't mean here.”

“Most people who do not have a Bankai are unaware that it can take years for such a technique to 'mature', so to speak,” you explain, mostly for Askin's sake. “In most cases a Bankai is ready to be used in combat after ten years of training, and reaches 'maturity' in fifty years.”

“And how long has yours taken?” Askin asks you, getting the obvious question out of the way.

You grin at him wickedly. “Two hundred.”

“So, does that make you some kind of reta...” Askin begins, only for your knee to collide with his gut mid-sentence.

He's not there anymore when you try to bring your heel down onto the back of his neck, having stumbled away with no small skill. But if that's all he's capable of doing he's in trouble.

Askin holds out his hand... and his eyes widen in shock.

“Trying to use spiritual techniques within the range of my Bankai?” you muse playfully. “You had not noticed yet, had you... that my mere presence makes it impossible for most people to use techniques like kidō or gintō? Even hirenkyaku.”

“You're saying...” he gasps, “that you're screwing with me just by being here?”

“Yes,” you reply.

“Well then all I need to do is stay away from...”

“Raikōhō.”

A solid column of lightning flashes, obliterating a building as you blast Askin into it. A few seconds later the quincy re-emerges, badly burned to the point of being crispy, and with one arm hanging loose at his side.

“You're... pretty good,” he admits. “But not quite good enough... you took too much time assessing my abilities and explaining your own.”

In an instant a reishi bow springs to existence around his wrist, and puppet-strings force his shattered arm through the motions of preparing to fire it.

“I see,” you muse, watching him carefully. “So you gained an immunity to my ambient reiatsu, which has allowed you to start using spiritual techniques again. I must admit I am impressed with your tenacity.”

>Try to lure him into firing at you, then stab him with the arrow.
>Use bakudō from here then close the distance. You know you're faster than him at close distances.

Can't immunize yourself against yourself.

You settle on a bold strategy, one which wouldn't be unfamiliar to Yoruichi.

The first spiritual arrow which comes your way you snatch out of the air, before rushing straight for the quincy who fired it. Despite getting behind him in almost the same instant as the one where you grabbed the projectile, Askin raises his arms instinctively to block your right arm.

Undeterred, you slash at the inside of his elbow and overpower him with your right arm. The arrow impales him in the upper left of his chest, after which he breaks away with a hirenkyaku. This establishes two things in your mind quite clearly: that he is capable of using the full extent of his abilities even in this situation, and that he cannot become immune to his own reiatsu.

“Your girlfriend tried the same trick,” Askin grumbles.

“Wife,” you correct him.

“How progressive,” he grumbles in response. You get the impression that stabbing him with one of his own arrows isn't the only part of this fight that's familiar to him.

“Vollständig.”

Wings like interconnected orbs sprout from your opponent's back... you're plenty familiar with Vollständig, at least in theory, from having fought against Bambietta's what feels like ages ago. And come to think of it that really was ages ago for you, more than a hundred years in fact. But the real question in your mind is how this new form will have improved his powers... it's possible you could be dealing with both greatly improved immunities as well as a powerful offensive capability.

“Gift Ball Deluxe.”

The area around you begins to darken...

… and before you can regroup with Yoruichi and escape the hemispherical surface is complete, trapping the two of you within a clearly bounded area. Thankfully it's only the two of you, so Byakuya, Retsu, and Kisuke will not be subject to whatever this quincy's technique can do.

“Shit,” Yoruichi curses under her breath. “That was faster than I anticipated.”

“Within this area I can control the 'lethal dose' of any substance I choose,” Askin declares. “Oxygen, nitrogen, your own reiatsu. Anything can become a poison in the right concentrations you know, just like almost anything can be rendered safe by diluting it enough.”

“I am aware how dosage works,” you grumble. “This is after all the twenty-first century, not the twelfth.”

“Well then, since you're such an advanced student,” Askin smirks, “shall we see how much oxygen you can handle, Captains?”

You come to a sudden realization, which perhaps not even Askin himself has reached, about the nature of his abilities. His own immunity and pharmacological abilities may not be within the realm of “ordinary” quincy skills, but he has clearly shown that he is familiar with those abilities such as hirenkyaku and ransōtengai. What unites those techniques, and even the more kidō-like techniques which rely on gintō, is that they all rely on an quincy's ability to manipulate reishi.

That's literally it. They all involve reishi.

Even this space, like the smaller technique it's apparently based on, is based around manipulation of reishi as a medium for connecting his pharmacological abilities and control of 'doses' with the properties of your spiritual body.

This space only has reishi in relatively low concentrations, even now, which is a perfect target for a specific hadō.

“Yoruichi, please take precautions.”

Using a massive amount of your own reiatsu and the specialized knowledge of the faction of yourself named “Tenkotsuki”, and steeling yourself against what's about to happen, you cast that hadō.

Concentrating the spell into your two kodachi and harnessing the rage gnawing silently at your guts, you turn in place like a top. “Hanawa Haien.”

Instead of a single burst of violet kidō, as Haien usually appears when you use it, this time the spell takes a form like that of Zangerin. The two trailing flames erupt into long arcs that incinerate the air itself, and you notice an immediate change that tells you your gambit is working. The sudden loss of pressure cracks and eventually breaches the hemisphere created by Askin's attack, and the powerful flames of Haien destroy the lower six meters or so of the barrier. The rest simply crumbles away into nothingness.

“That shouldn't be...” Askin begins, only to be interrupted by a coughing fit. His hand comes away bloody, as does yours... trauma from the sudden change in pressure. Nothing too serious.

“Possible?” you laugh. “If you believe your abilities to be any different from Bambietta's, or the Ishidas', then you are an arrogant fool. Rosa Rosette's skills do not care about how you transform reishi to attack, it will all burn in the heat of her rage.”

“Rage?” he repeats, staring at you with widening eyes.

“I have been separated from my loved ones for one hundred years,” you glare at him sternly. “I may not appear to be, but in this moment my rage is inconsolable.”

Coughing behind you alerts you to Yoruichi's injuries. “Are you okay back there?”

“Barely,” Yoruichi coughs, a sound that is obviously wet with blood even though you do not turn to face her. “If it weren't for Raijūsenkō I might be in trouble.”

“Sorry. I forgot to account for the likelihood of barotrauma. It will not happen again.”

She coughs again. “S'okay. I'll live.”

'Everything burns' is a statement you have long understood to be true, but in this case you weren't certain of it before trying that strategy. Now of course you know it to be true, and that it also applies to the techniques used by Askin Nakk le Vaar.

Having demonstrated the principle you can proceed to abuse it until it ceases to work in your favor.

“Pathetic,” you taunt, slashing through several attempts by your quincy foe to poison you using his abilities. Eventually he resorts to summoning something like the wings behind his back only in staff form, a series of connected orbs which he can no doubt use in the same way as his poison balls.

“Is this truly all you can manage, Askin Nakk le Vaar? Even after trading away your pride to serve Aizen Sōsuke the criminal, even after a thousand years spent waiting in the shadows, even with the single most underhanded ability I have ever laid eyes upon, you cannot figure out a way to beat me?”

“Change your tactics.”

“Sorry,” Askin replies wearily. “No can do.”

“And why is that?”

“Because I can't bring myself to use anything else,” Askin declares resolutely. “I don't intend to win by dragging myself along through the mud, or by lowering my standards. I'll win elegantly using the Deathdealing, or I'll lose.”

“That's all there is to it.”

“I see,” you muse, effortlessly slicing through his summoned staff which burns away right to the ends. “You consider your sense of aesthetics to be more important than your victory. That is the form your 'pride' takes.”

“You're not wrong,” Askin admits. “It's a point of pride... and it's only dumb if it doesn't work!”

“It will not work,” you counter, slicing away a second staff and leaving a deep gash across Askin's chest. “This does not have to be how it ends. There is no rule stating that shinigami and quincy cannot coexist... whether you accept that fact or not is your own choice. But if you refuse to even acknowledge the possibility I fear you will only remain a liability and a threat to that which I must protect.”

“And ensuring that the things I must protect remain protected is our... or rather my pride. So choose wisely.”

“Sorry, no can do,” Askin replies with a grim smile. “I kinda wanted to see how all this ends, because I'd written off the possibility of ever dying... but now that possibility's back on the table.”

“So I'd kinda like to see how that goes too.”

“You say you wish to experience death?” you press with a frown. “I cannot fathom that.”

“You've got stuff to live for.”

“You may find new 'stuff' that you could live for,” you observe. “Bambietta did so once her brain was healed.”

“Good for her,” Askin shrugs. “That's nice and all but I don't see what it has to do with me.”

“Last chance.”

“Don't try and redeem me.”

Fine then. If he is resolved to be killed here, after his long years of life, then that is his prerogative and his alone. It was bound to be true that there would be quincies who chose to end their unnatural existences in this world rather than take a second chance even when offered.

So. Damn. Close. Damn dice are taunting us.

You decide not to begrudge Askin his clear wish, and move to cut him down. It isn't surprising that he raises a weapon to parry, just enough effort to push against your sword so that your swing misses.

“You didn't think I'd make it easy, did you?”

A sweep of your other blade instantly follows, slicing into his chest. “I was not finished.”

But to your surprise it seems the quincy has already adapted, and tries to slam another ball of poison into your chest which you burn away with the edge of one of your swords to confirm that you can still incinerate unattended reishi. This proves that he can only make himself highly resistant, but cannot do the same for his attacks.

Speaking of which, a spike in reiatsu forces you to take a swift backstep to avoid a spreading pool of inky poisonous reishi that originates from a point just in front of Askin's feet. Stabbing your blades into the edge of the expanding pool incinerates this reishi as well.

“Such an excellent reaction!” Askin commends you.

In the act of raising your blades from the ground, you compress reiatsu in your muscles and suddenly release it like a spring powering matched sweeps of your arms and swords.

“Kamaitachi Jūjishō!”

The two blasts form a cross-shape, which slams into Askin dead on and rips open his chest in an X-shape from his shoulders to his hips. The force knocks him through a wall, and the attack itself takes out a whole block beyond its intended victim.

You can tell that didn't kill him however... how tough is this man?

>Go for a heart shot using Onibi, which should be similarly effective to Kamaitachi.

With a burst of power from your muscles, you compress air and reiatsu at the hilt of one kodachi and send it flying towards Askin. The blow hits square in the chest and knocks him down, before sliding him across the ground.

In an instant Askin moves.

You're forced to parry another fistful of his reishi to incinerate it, but Askin moves too quickly for your counterattack to land. That's strange, unless...

“I see,” you muse, spying the tiny threads of reishi. “Impressive use of Ransōtengai. But you and I both know that this cannot last long.”

“Of course not,” Askin agrees. “But it just has to last long enough.”

In a series of rapid clashes, you keep engaged with Askin. His weapons break and burn away almost continuously, with new replacements appearing just as constantly. Were he not immune to your reiatsu he would be dead a hundred times over by this point, but for a man who seems to want to die he has so far stubbornly refused to be killed by you.

And a part of you realizes that he may not have a choice in the matter.

A trio of arrows suddenly catches you by surprise, one of which buries itself in your shoulder as it hits you from behind. This speed is incredible, he must be using Ransōtengai not just to maintain his mobility but to enhance it.

But perhaps that can be turned to your advantage.

>>

Pretty sure he is just seriously depressed and tired of living. Given that his ability makes it so very difficult for him to die and with his age meaning nothing to him, death seems like a finish line that he can never reach.

I think he just looks forward to any sign of his death at this point. As it would finally give him something new. Either way Askin probably wins this fight; if he loses and dies he finally gets to move on and see something new, and if he lives he gets to see a new world be created by the victor, win win in his book.

Seeing as the average roll of a 3d10 should be 16.5, a DC 20 with best of three isn't even bad. If I set the DC to 16 and crits to 20 and left them there permanently you'd basically never fail, and would get crits fairly often.

But I'm not going to just allow you to steamroll the guy that Yoruichi, Urahara, and Grimmjow together barely managed to beat in canon by setting the DCs way too low to be meaningful. Riku may have the upper hand but the Deathdealing is one of the most bullshit of powers in a setting known for its bullshit powers. This was never gonna be a gimme.

You're growing tired of this, and you think that in that sense you can sort of understand how Askin must be feeling. For once a quincy's claims are fully justified... he's proven to be the hardest person to kill that you've ever run across. But every technique has a weakness, something that can be exploited to overcome it. With Askin it's the mundane things: smashing objects into him, or blasting him with compressed air.

So if you're right about that, you should be able to suffocate him.

You use reishi chains to entangle Askin at close range, knowing that you don't actually have to use them to break his skin. They just need to resist his physical strength which should be a manageable feat.

“These chains...” he grumbles mutinously as you wrap his arms and pull each behind his back. “What do you think you can do from such an absurd...”

You take out the slack, pulling in closer and grasping him around his throat with your free hand. His eyes widen with the realization of what you're doing, and he kicks frantically to try and free himself. Ultimately it's the strain against the chains that frees him, allowing for a desperate attack with a Gift Ball in one hand.

You effortlessly slap his wrist away and step to one side, sliding your toe carefully against the ground in a short circle.

Evading a second attack in the same way, you place another chain around his arm which he breaks free of almost immediately this time, having figured out the trick to doing so quickly and relying on his mastery of reishi manipulation to decompose the chain with his free hand.

You continue to toy with him for a few more moments, until your plan is ready to put into action.

“Renkan Seppa Sen!” you shout, reaching out with one hand. With the other hand, you follow through with the final step of the process. “Hadō 90: Kurohitsugi.”

As the sand from the Renkan Seppa erupts in a high column around Askin, the towering black form of Kurohitsugi envelops the sand in turn. Then the hadō collapses the space containing the sand in on itself, crushing Askin within.

After a few seconds the walls of Kurohitsugi crack and dissipate, and the sand collapses back into the crater you drew it out of. Not long after that you see the results of your coordinated assault, as Askin re-emerges from his tomb. Or rather what remains of him.

It's almost like someone lumped a pile of bruise into the rough shape of a human body. Every single one of his blood vessels has burst from the immense pressure, his lungs and heart were crushed when his chest caved in. The only thing that seems more or less intact is his skull, though from the amount of blood escaping his ears and nose you would guess that the spike in blood pressure affected his brain as well.

You glance down at him, feeling reflective for just a moment. “I hope you can find something worth living for next time, Askin Nakk le Vaar.”

I have a feeling that Gerard will be much simpler to beat, for Riku in particular, especially if her theory about their techniques still being Reishi based holds true.

My theory on Gerard to explain his growth and regeneration is that, he literally doesnt have any vitals, hes basically flash building a reishi construct body for himself. It'd explain why he can regenerate from decapitation and having his vital points destroyed, its all just energy being moved around. It would also explain how he could still function with a seemingly human body at that size instead of getting fucked by physics or at least slowing down.

“He'll be back any minute,” Gerard asserts in a booming voice, his larger-than-life presence now looming heavily over your battlefield. “Aaaany minute.”

You spare the corpse a sidelong glance. It hasn't moved for several minutes, and there isn't a trace of reiatsu coming from him. Askin Nakk le Vaar is very much dead.

“I will explain it using simple words this time,” you reply, glaring up at Gerard with renewed intensity. “Askin Nakk le Vaar was not immune to physical harm. So I surrounded him with sand, and used my reiatsu to crush the sand. There is no part of the man that is not now broken. He is dead, and this time I think you will find that it will last.”

Gerard stares at the pile of sand and blood where Askin's remains now lie. “You might actually be right... man, never thought I'd have to get revenge for that idiot too.”

“I will make you the same offer that I made him,” you continue with a stern tone. “Every one of you gets one last chance to do the right thing. I made a promise to Bambietta Basterbinne and I intend to keep it, to the best of my ability.”

“But for that to happen you will have to cooperate.”

“Forget about that,” Gerard growls. “I have to admit, to have killed Gerard you must be pretty good. But as the greatest warrior under the sight of God I cannot allow myself to be bested by the likes of you, villain.”

You stare at him blankly. “Do they not have mirrors where you come from?”

“I don't get my meaning.”

“Of course not.”

“So, how do you wanna handle this one?” Yoruichi asks you warily. “He's got a different manner of nonsense going on with him... instead he turns injuries into greater physical strength and size.”

So... like rapid regeneration, but on overdrive? Is that within the realm of quincy abilities, or is it something else entirely?

>I will need to see his abilities for myself to determine their nature.

“I have ways of countering rapid healing,” you declare, before charging in with your swords drawn.

A rapid series of spiraling slashes to the face is what Gerard receives from you by way of an introduction, each carving deep into his head until you're fairly certain that his brainstem has taken at least one direct hit and the bulk of his grey matter has been neatly sectioned into chunks. The technique possessed by Rosa Rosette also kicks in shortly after you're finished slicing, burning cheerily at the remnants as you land near Yoruichi.

“If he can recover from that I would be interested to see it,” you muse, turning back to admire your handiwork.

“Well, you're gonna get to see something interesting in that case,” Yoruichi replies with a sigh, already anticipating the likely result. “Not going to be long now.”

Sure enough, the giant head of Gerard Valkyrie begins to reassemble itself in spite of the flickering flames of your released zanpakutō. That was somewhat of a surprise if you're honest, but it does tell you one thing.

“I see,” you muse thoughtfully. “So that is the reality of the situation.”

“What'd you learn?”

“As I suspected this quincy possesses a degree of divine favor,” you explain. “That was not a simple boast.”

“So he can regenerate even from your attacks?” Yoruichir realizes. “Damn.”

“From that technique, yes,” you admit. “However there is one other factor which must be considered, that being the automatic nature of his ability.”

“I see,” Yoruichi nods in understanding. “You targeted the brain stem deliberately.”

“There is no way that he could voluntarily regenerate from such an attack,” you confirm.

“I will need your help to finish this one,” you admit to Yoruichi. “I will disable his regeneration, you merely need to choose your favored way of destroying him.”

“Okay, you take the lead,” Yoruichi nods in agreement.

“Whatever the two of you are planning, it will not work!” Gerard proclaims loudly. “Behold, the might of a true godly warrior!”

He lunges at you with shocking swiftness, thrusting his oversized sword into the ground where you and Yoruichi were standing a split second ago. You lead the way, raising your left hand and leveling the first two fingers towards Gerard's eye.

“Ura Hadō: Saishodō... Sōgenbi.”

The flames aren't quite enough to encase Gerard's entire head, but are sufficient to cover most of his head centered on his right eye. He howls in pain, an unearthly din that shakes the whole Seireitei to its foundations. You silently maintain the spell, waiting to see what Yoruichi comes up with.

“Bankai!” you hear her voice. Her speed is tremendous as she darts past Gerard several times, trailing fine silver wires that loop around his arms, legs, and neck. Then, with one last swift movement, she pulls them taut with a bloody snap.

His limbs are all severed in an instant, as is his head, like a toy that's been disassembled on the spot. The head continues burning as it falls to the ground with a thud that you can feel in your chest, not long after Yoruichi joins you at your side.

“You think that did it?” she asks curiously, detaching her razor wires with a flick of her wrist.

You watch the fallen titan carefully for a few minutes. “I have to admit I am not entirely convinced. That felt too easy.”

“I almost feel let down,” Yoruichi muses, shaking her head. “Should we... you know. Stay here a few minutes to make sure? Catch our breath a little?”

“Not for too long,” you sigh, leaping up to a nearby rooftop to sit on the edge and dangle your feet. “I would prefer not to maintain this spell for too long. Though it has become easier to cast it is still not as effective as I would prefer.”

Leaping up to join you, Yoruichi sits down as well. “I wonder what Aizen is up to.”

Aizen Sōsuke has been having a good day. The sort of day where everything has been going exactly according to plan with no unexpected deviations. Now all that is left is...

A loud noise like thunder, distant at first but gradually building in intensity heralds their arrival. Aizen takes a quick step backwards to avoid the giant projectile that comes crashing down from on high. The Royal Special Task Force has arrived.

“My, and here I had actually hoped that would have landed on him,” a feminine voice muses as the dust settles.

“Nah, figured it'd be harder than that,” an irritating man's voice replies. “If it were that easy someone woulda done it by now, right?”

“Oh I know,” the first voice admits. “I just thought it'd be amusing.”

“That it certainly would have been.”

Five individuals emerge from inside the colossal stone tower, descending a row of stairs which have emerged from the side. One large and rather rotund, one somewhat top-heavy, the others varying degrees of average from a little on the short side to fairly tall.

“So, Mister Monk,” the rather short one with the large hair and the sunglasses muses. “How do you want to play this, hm?”

“We're going to kill him, naturally,” the rotund one who goes by the title of “Monk” replies simply.

“Damn it I know that part,” the first man groans. “And you know I know that.”

“I do,” the Monk admits.

“Dear lord they're all like this,” Aizen sighs dramatically. “See, this just makes me realize how right I was to rebel against the Soul Society you know.”

You are the Hot-Springs Demon, Tenjirō Kirinji, and just being around Aizen Sōsuke is enough to leave you itching for a fight. If the Gotei 13 had just done their fucking jobs this might not have turned into such a mess, though when you think about it just as much of the blame should be resting on Ōetsu's head. Kirio's too for that matter, what with her having been promoted so recently and all.

But it's easier to just blame the Gotei 13 for all of it, since that avoids any annoying questions.

In an instant you're behind Aizen, your sword already striking at the back of his neck. Its blade cracks a hexagonal plane of reishi there, a spell left in place for just such an occasion, and the villain turns in place to slash at your gut with his own sword.

He misses of course. Like it would be that easy.

“I must admit I am disappointed,” Aizen taunts you. “I expected more.”

“Same,” you admit, cracking your neck menacingly. “I expected more... of the freaking Gotei 13. Can't believe those pushovers were having trouble with a pest like you.”

A slash that you left across Aizen's bicep opens up in a spurt of blood to prove your point.

“We're not even here for you,” you sigh dismissively. “So don't get full of yourself, 'Lord' Aizen. We're only here cause we were asked to be here.”

“What, by your so-called King?” Aizen sneers. “Forgive me if I find that difficult to believe.”

“Sounds a lot like heresy,” you sneer back. “I should smite you. Fact, I think I'm gonna.”

A fist slams against the back of your head. “Less talking, more working.”

“Right, Monk,” you grumble. “Right, right.”

>Release your zanpakuto, Kinpika, and slash Aizen to death.
>By using White Bone Hell you can burn Aizen into nothingness.
>By using Blood Pond Hell you can basically pop Aizen like a balloon.
