What a weird and shitty day this was! You weren’t kicked out of the group, Nina got elected as new leader, and you stopped Nariko from killing herself with Matilda’s help! Things aren’t going to get any better because…

You only have 24 hours to prepare for the Eclipse.

You just woke up from being unconscious yet again, after using everything you had to save your OG hobo. It’s the middle of the night, but before you could drift back to sleep you heard something knocking on your window. A gentle scratching sound that keeps going over the sound of cars on the street…

Between the scratching noises, you hear a meow! It must be Melodia, the demented NEET’s cat!

If she’s here already, that means she saved T_T Neko from killing herself! Or maybe it’s bad news, and the sad reality is that a cat can’t stop a suicide attempt? Either way the cat is not stopping. In fact, she’s continuing to paw at the window faster! Must have heard you talking out loud to Philonune earlier…

You should do something, right? You can’t leave her there on the windowsill at this hour!

What do you do?

>Your wound reopened, but that doesn’t mean you can’t stand up and go open the window.
>Pull out your phone and call someone for help! Maybe someone staying in the clinic is up?
>Fuck it, she’s a stray now! You need to sleep and gather energy, the worst is yet to come…
>Call a nurse for help! They’re 24 hours or whatever, aren’t they?! Spam that call button!

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling over a 95 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 5 or under means a critical failure (only for hard rolls and above).

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

You decided to do the sensible thing and call a nurse for help. Or maybe you just need to make a short call to someone else? You need to make a decision, and it needs to be fast enough for the cat to not get bored.

Who will you call?
Who can you trust?
Who still trusts you?
Who’s even awake at this hour?! Maybe Matilda? Money should wake her up in seconds!

Although there is a certain little leech that can prove herself…

You decided to dial Yu Yan’s number very quickly, or else you will have to resort to the nurses. Not only are you in great pain, you need to do this slowly to avoid reopening the wound.

Strangely, as the call tries to connect, you hear something vibrating outside your room – are your ears getting sharper or is the sound of passing cars easier to ignore? Your call gets cancelled and shortly after that the door of your room opens. It’s Yu Yan! Why is she here?

…Was she camping outside your room this whole time?

“Hi!” She opens the door the same way she did earlier today! It’s the middle of the night! Get a grip!
“Hi. Real quick, could you open the window for me? Yeah, that one over there.” There is no time to waste!
The look on her face goes from something very inappropriate to something very disappointing.
“That’s not what I thought you were going to ask me to do, but sure…” She begrudgingly follows your request. As soon as she opens the window Melodia leaps in, surprising poor Yu Yan! Your smug hobo falls on her ass yet again. “What the sh—?!”

The beautiful cat is now wearing a collar with a note attached to it. You pay attention to this briefly because there’s something else to worry about…

“Are you okay?”
“My poor butt can’t catch a break today! Ugh… What’s up with the…? Oh, I get it. Smelly girl, right?” Yu Yan quickly puts two and two together as Melodia makes her way to your bed.
“Alright, you got me.” You really have nothing to hide. Even if you wanted to, there’s no place to hide anything from this hospital bed!

Yu Yan grabs the star-nosed animal before she can get on you. “Sorry, kitty – this broken stud is not for you to cuddle with. He’s mine.” She stares at Melodia in curiosity. What, she’s never held a cute cat in her arms before?
Melodia just responds by tilting her head in confusion. Adorable! Yu Yan must think so too because she’s starting to blush…
>>
>>3053511

“Uh… You mind passing me the note on her collar?”

“Hmm? What were you doing behind our backs, Johnny?” Yu Yan takes the paper from the collar and holds it out in front of you, taunting you with it. She knows you can’t risk reaching for it with your wound! Diabolical!

“I have no idea, honestly.” You have no idea what kind of message is in there. Neko better be alive no matter what…
Yu Yan very rudely unfolds the paper. Her giggling smugness changes to disappointment the further she reads it. “…Asking if you’re alone right now. Wants to meet up. She’s planning to sneak inside and wants you to let her know by using the cat. I said ‘she’ but it doesn’t have a sender or anything.” Her smirk returns full force! “Although… It doesn’t really need a sender’s name, does it Johnny?”

“That’s very rude, Yu Yan. Don’t you know letters are private?” You joke, completely seriously.
“Your porn stash was private too, and I didn’t mind looking at it. Your point?” Yu Yan shrugs off your serious joke!

“So you already know you have no chance with me. Please don’t feel disappointed.” Part of you wants her to feel disappointed though. That must be the pain talking…
“W-wait, what do you mean by that?” Yu Yan is confused. Was she lying about your porn stash? You might be safe yet! “A-anyway, what are you planning to do? I can’t let you do things alone for a while, or your shirt might get a real nice shade of red on it that no one wants, you feel me?”

Will you write back or not?

>Write back that you’re alone right now and ask Yu Yan to leave.

“I’m gonna call her.”
“…Why the cat then? Why won’t she just call you?” Yu Yan keeps getting dumbfounded.
“Meow!” Melodia doesn’t get it either, and she used to belong to Neko in the first place!

“Secrecy, maybe?” Yu Yan glares at you. You can feel the ‘are you kidding me?’ coming off of her. “…Don’t give me that look, Yu. I barely know her too, remember?”

The dial tone rings a few times. No answer.

“What’s better, instant messaging or cats?” Yu Yan asks absentmindedly as she plays with Melodia on your bed.
“Meow!” Melodia gives the only answer needed.
“You say that because you’re biased.” Yu Yan turns to you. “So no answer, huh? Ready to send this furball out?”
“No. Let me try again.” It’ll work if you call enough!

Someone finally answers! You were right to keep calling!

“Hello…?” You ask after a few seconds of dead silence.
You start hearing loud breathing noises near the microphone.
“…Is that you Neko?”
The breathing speeds up, almost hyperventilating. You hear some whimpers, then the call abruptly ends.

“Well, that was weird.” Did you ever come as creepy as she is now to anyone…?

Meanwhile, Yu Yan continues to talk with Melodia.
“She’s a weirdo, isn’t she? How’d you cope with her? This guy over here is pretty weird too, but he’s kind of endearing. Also her place stank like absolute shit! Literally!”
“…Meow!”
“That’s too much positivity. I think you and the little girl in the other room would be great friends.” Yu Yan turns to you again. “Cat. Letter. Now?”

“Let me text her this time.”
“You know this attitude is why you’re stuck in this bed, right? Should I point it out some more?”
“Look, reading and typing is probably better for her than talking to someone.”
Yu Yan turns back to Melodia, rubbing up to Yu Yan’s leg. “See? Very endearing!”
“Meow!”

You text the anonymous number most definitely belonging to Neko. A simple hello is enough for now. No response, but you see she read the message. You explain to her what has transpired with Melodia. In a few empty minutes, she sends a text back.

“Are you alone?”

How do you reply to the traumatized NEET?

>“I’m gonna call you right now. Pretend it’s voice chat or whatever.”
>“No, but it shouldn’t matter. You have nothing to fear here.”
>“Yes. You can come over here now.” Tell Yu Yan to hide again!

“Yes. You can come over here now.” Let’s get this over with.

You put your phone away and look back up at Yu Yan. “Please hide. Neko’s on the way.”
“Walk me over this plan of yours.” Yu Yan smiles at you. “It’s not like I’m concerned about you having a plan after last time, or anything… wait no, I totally am.”
“I want to have a talk with Neko now, see what she wants. I can’t do anything to defend myself in my state. If anything goes wrong, you come out and do something.” Sounds like workable plan!

“See? He’s a weirdo.” Yu Yan turns to Melodia to throw shade at you. You deserve that. “She’s alright. We had a little chat after what happened to you. I don’t think she’ll do something stupid, but if she does… I do have a trick under my sleeve.”
Oh god, her knives are back?! “I don’t know if I should feel reassured or worried.”
“I have… pepper spray!” Yu Yan briefly poses with her bottle of pepper spray. “…What? Were you expecting something different?” That’s kinda relieving, even though you half-wanted her to go with the knives. With that, Yu Yan hides under your bed in an almost ninja-like manner. You can’t see her under there! Not like you can move to peek – twisting too far might be tempting fate…

“Melodia, you want to help your real owner? Get going!” You order the cute cat to go.
“Meow?” She raises a paw and points at herself.
“Neko… Go for Neko.”
“Meow?” Melodia puts her paw back down.
“Forget it.” Not enough energy to do charades again.

After a few minutes of waiting, you hear someone grumbling loudly from the window. A little nerdy girl is peeking in from the corner of the windowsill. You’d recognize those glasses and that hair anywhere!

“Meow!” Melodia notices and jumps from the bed towards the window! Neko tries to shush her away to no avail. The cat starts meowing repeatedly without slowing down, raising her paws up to Neko.
“Hi.” You would wave if your body didn’t hurt so much. “How are you holding up out there? You should come inside and not risk falling to your death.” One person doing that is enough for today.
“Hey, smartass human! Don’t tell us what to do, or I’ll make sure to cut deep enough next time!” That’s the voice from Neko’s entity! …Whatever its name was!

“Hey, it’s that obnoxious thing. I wonder why he has all this resentment for you. Not that I care enough about this lucky weakling to ask.” Philonune comments blandly from right next to you. He might not care to ask, but you might later… Right now, it’s better to start things off calm. “Please come in. This meeting was your idea anyway, no need to be hostile.”
Her idea, mind you.” The entity isn’t happy. “If I had my way, you wouldn’t be speaking to me.”

Neko enters the room from the window as gracefully as an overweight ballet dancer on an ice rink. It appears her entity somehow helped her getting in here. You should ask her how she did it without getting spotted later; definitely something to keep in mind…

She pulls herself up next to the window, staring at you. Her breathing is heavy, her face is completely red, her hair is a mess again – her whole expression in a sad, stressful place between hatred and regret. Almost like she wants to burst into tears any second. She’s holding Melodia in her trembling arms, the cat burying her head in Neko’s chest and purring loudly.

This wasn’t what you were expecting.

“Are you feeling alright?” You can’t help but feel concerned for her, even after what happened. “I can’t do anything to you even if I wanted. I can barely raise my arms.”
“Oh that’s real sweet. You think we’ll obey your words again, after what you did to my partner? Ridiculous! There must be a trap here somewhere! You can’t trust this human, remember?” Her entity displays his paranoia.

The worst part about it is… he’s right this time.
If they find Yu Yan, you have no idea what’ll happen…

Neko continues standing next to the window, her breathing not getting any easier. Meanwhile, her entity starts floating around slowly and inspecting the corners. The thing belonging in a litterbox continues to piss you off inside as you watch it check the place out.

What now?

>“I have a friend under my bed, my bad.” Say the truth and rat out your smug hobo again!
>“So a while back, you told me you knew me. What did you mean?” Question Neko’s entity.
>“Neko, you wanted this meeting. What did you want to talk about?” She needs to sit down.

“So a while back, you told me you knew me. What did you mean?” You question Neko’s entity. You have been mildly curious about this issue since the first time you saw him, though that was after Philonune choked him twice in a row.
This immediately piques the interest of the strange-looking techno-mammal virtual-cat. He stops exploring the patient room and gets closer to you. “Since my lady got her tongue bitten by one of our servants, I think this is the perfect opportunity for me to clarify.”

“I told you he wasn’t the one…” Neko mutters to herself.
He turns to Neko and waves her off. “Speak up darling, or shut it! You know how I get when I have to monologue!” The entity sounds genuinely joyful. What kind of relationship do they have where he can just tell his human partner to shut the fuck up like that…?

“Meow!” Melodia rubs herself on Neko’s leg and starts purring again, interrupting the goofy monster pet. Neko finally gives up and starts petting her.

“Melodia is a really nice cat, you know?” You use what’s left of your energy to wave at the adorable cat enjoying herself with her owner. Melodia has no problem leaving Neko dry as she approaches you and leaps on the bed. She goes and sits on your lap again, sending waves of agony through you. Too much to bear, but you will try to keep your composure for the sake of appearing reliable.

“You sent her back…?” Neko asks you, her voice without any malice but barely audible.
“Why don’t you ask her? You can talk to her can’t you? That’s your ability.”
“I’ve never talked to her… well, I did today.” Neko’s empty words had a faint tinge of guilt to them. She starts rubbing her arms out of reflex, and you catch a glimpse of her arm under the sleeve. Are those bandages on her wrist…?

“You recalcitrant fool! I was about to answer your question, so stay quiet unless you want me to stop.” The entity doesn’t like to be interrupted. What an egoist!
“For the last time, he doesn’t look like the guy in the photo…” Neko whispers in Bastet’s deaf ears.

“I think I’ll get straight to the point to avoid wasting more of my time! Yes, indeed! It is I, Johnny! Bastet! The Bastet!”

You exchange glances with a shrugging Philonune. He doesn’t have shoulders in flame form, but you feel him doing it all the same.

After a good half-minute of silence (except for Melodia’s purring), you decide to speak up.

“Isn’t that a girl’s name?”
“You drooling idiot! Those myths were recorded by sand-addled primitives! Besides, did I not tell you my name? Did you not recognize my unmistakable melodious voice?! Wait, I recall we sounded distorted in that mindspace… Very well! I shall grant you the details you seek! The reasons for my hatred towards you!” He floats back and forth, as if pacing in the air. “That night, April 19th in your human year, I was the one who humbly requested your help and who was cruelly rejected! You’re not to be trusted, Johnny! A pathetic nobody isn’t fit to be a human being like my partner!”

Wait… what?!

“You were that super sketchy entity that refused to tell me anything about what was going on before agreeing to your contract!” Now you remember! “You honestly expected me to just say yes to you without a second thought?!” What an idiot! You dodged a bullet by being sensible that day! This guy is seriously getting on your nerves, and you do not need this on top of the injuries you have…

Bastet folds his arms. “I was not sketchy! I was covering my own back! Enemies lurk everywhere, information travels fast, and—”
“But you told me everything immediately when I asked. You were so cooperative I was inclined to believe you from the get-go…” Neko sounded normal for a second there!
You cannot help laughing right now. It hurts, but the pain is so worth it. “Hold on, don’t tell me you changed your approach the second time? You felt you screwed everything up in our talk, so you tried being nice to the next person willing to hear you out! That’s adorable!
Bastet holds out a jagged finger at you. “Silence, scum! I am not adorable, contrary to what my partner thinks! I changed nothing! You were not to be trusted, and I was right in the end. Your idiocy proved it!” Bastet doesn’t yield. Everything that comes out of his mouth is infuriating…

“There was nothing to lose from simply being more patient. That worked for me.” Philonune invokes his face just to say that to him.
“Yeah, trust is important.” And not being sketchy or evil, that too. Your stab wound aching gives you an idea… “Though I guess you wouldn’t know about that, what with you stabbing first and asking later.”
“I was better off without you!” Throwing that shade worked!

Neko pulls out her phone and starts quickly typing or searching for something. She shows you a picture of yourself at the Pitfall Arcade with one of your old exploded ‘friends.’ Looking back, Wilvy wasn’t that much of an asshole though. “Is this you?!”
“Yup, that’s me on the left.” She’s probably wondering how you got here, like that one joke…
“But you don’t look like this! This can’t be you! You don’t look like a loser, you’re kind of ho— I-I mean, you’re a twig here! I don’t even think you had eyes behind your glasses! They were permanently glued to your face, or something!” T_T Neko looks you up and down, incredulous. She checks the image again. “Wait a second… This photo was taken two months ago! What the poop?!”

“I got better.” And you did your best! You hear Yu Yan laughing under you, and neither Neko or Bastet noticed. Maybe because this topic took them by surprise.
“B-b-b-b-but…!” She moves her arms so rapidly you are able to see her wrist areas again. Bandages all over her arms… Not a good sign.

“Calm yourself! He’s playing his devious mind games with you! Remember what he did!” Bastet reminds Neko of… something very vague. “Besides, I was right like I always am!” He seems way too proud of himself.
“Meow!” Melodia seems to want attention. You pet her slowly to make her happy, but the pain is getting a little too unbearable…

“B-but…” Neko is back to her gloomy angered self from some minutes ago. At least you got some answers so far.

“Hey Bastet, isn’t holding grudges a sign of weakness?”
“That’s where you are wrong! The first rule of survival is to not trust anyone who isn’t dead!” Basted announces proudly, like he wrote it himself. “‘Friend’ is simply a word for ‘future backstabber.’ I know this from experience!”
“Sounds an awful lot like being a coward to me.” You felt that was Philonune’s influence. “And you call yourself a god?”
How dare you?! How do you think I got to this point?! Surrounded by other deities, using and being used in turn until you can seek your revenge! That’s what I had to live with for millennia! You know nothing!

You ignore Bastet riling himself up. “So, why did you want to talk to me?” Better to get Neko on-track here to shut him up.
“Don’t let your guard d—!” Bastet reverts to flame form without warning, shrinking down to Neko’s left ankle. Guess that worked!

T_T Neko’s gloomy glare is onto you. She starts speaking in monotone, as if reading off a list:

“The troublemaker detective Richard Wright, the honor student Nariko Edamura, the casanova scammer Osgood Gaumont, the fat paparazzi Bradford Cahill, the child Judge Constance Strangelove, and the Villiers family: esteemed scientist Dorothy, Chief of Police Danforth, and their accountant daughter Lise.”

You feel a chill unrelated to your injuries as you continue listening to Neko.

“I never bothered doing research on Johnny Ando, but I don’t think it’s far-fetched to assume he has ties to a certain girl named Amelia and a teacher named Nina Uccelli. All of them are connected to this place, the New Calamity Clinic – whose owner is the retired war medic Imminenté Calamity. I could go in depth, but that’s not why I’m here.” She’s onto everyone now. Damn…

“So? Is that what you wanted to talk about?” She has nothing on Yu Yan yet!
“I have information on everyone, and I can easily get more I don’t already have” Neko explains in a practiced way. She’s definitely done this to others before. “Are you afraid of what I could do? To whom I can disclose this information? Of what consequences this could result in for you? I have everyone on my database. Y-you would want this info safe and secure, r-right? Y-y-you want me dead like everyone else, right?!”

“No, I don’t want you dead.” You state the obvious, hoping it’ll get through to her. “It was the other way around, remember?”

“You think after all that happened between us, I’d believe that? Coming from you?!
“Yeah, uh, about that… Can we start over from now on? Like, for real this time.”
>>
>>3055963

Neko looks at you open-mouthed in confusion. “W-w-what?!” She yells out, then quickly pulls herself together. For this whole conversation she’s forgotten it’s the middle of the night. Hopefully she didn’t wake up anyone next door… “You’re so frickin’ confusing!”

“Meow!” Melodia interjects, grabbing her attention.
“W-what do you mean you think that’s what makes him endearing?!” For a second there you saw Neko’s eyes take on a weird shape. You didn’t quite catch what it was, but it doesn’t matter.

“By the way, sorry about sending all those people over. After your note, I was worried you’d do something dumb and life-threatening out of guilt.”
“You…? You did that? You have n-no way to p-p-prove it!” Neko holds her arms close to her.
“Sorry I couldn’t come up with a better name than Trisha Nekosky.” Bringing up the name you told that nurse should be enough proof. “It seemed like a good idea at the time…” You’d scratch the back of your head if it wouldn’t cause you severe pain.

T_T Neko’s eyes open wide as something finally dawns on her. Her name can’t actually be Trisha Nekosky, could it?! That’d be way too convenient!

“Meow!”
“I-I-I know you told me he did, but…” Tears start to come out in Neko’s eyes. She slaps herself on the face really brutally to snap out of it. “I need to… I need to… stay calm. I’m here for… I’m here for…”
“You came for my help, didn’t you?” What’s her deal? This is way too much stress for simple guilt over your injury. “Are you… desperate? Why?”

Neko regains her composure, staring at you dead on. “I want to make a deal.” Oh boy.

“No free shots this time, though.” Her flame flickers briefly before calming back down, getting the message.
Neko continues talking. “I will give you information about anything you want, in exchange for safety.” She looks at the window, at something you can’t see.
“You’re asking a half dead man to help keep you safe? Are you sure that’s a good idea?”
“W-wait, you don’t have a way to heal yourself….?”
“Maybe I do, maybe I don’t, but the reality is I’m not sure.” You put a hand over your chest. “I’ll ask again: are you seriously willing to make a deal with me? Knowing I can’t do anything right now? Don’t you have other options like Ka-Shing and such?”
“Yes, I am sure. What Ka-Shing is planning goes against my own plans. I can’t continue working on his side, and all the others would kill me if they got the chance. It’ll be a deal between our two parties, nothing else.” Neko takes a deep breath. “So are you up for it? Please say yes…”

“Johnny, she’s genuine. I don’t feel that she’s lying about this. Her desperation proves it.” Philonune whispers confidently in your ear. “Her ability is a valuable asset, but she could easily be a liability without someone watching over her.”

What’ll you respond with?

>“I’ll call my leader. You have to negotiate with her and not me. Sorry about that.”
>“Yes, but you’re only making a deal with Johnny Ando and no one else, understand?”
>“Sorry I can’t. Even if I want to, it would be irresponsible of me to pretend I can help you.”

“I’ll call my leader. You have to negotiate with her and not me. Sorry about that.” You can’t override Nina’s authority for the team to function. It wouldn’t be fair, it wouldn’t be smart, it wouldn’t be right. The answer leaves Neko in disappointment. “I personally agree though.”
“But what if she says no…?” Neko is going back into depression mode. Why does everyone flip that switch whenever they’re around you? Is it something to do with you?

“If it helps, I’d be fine making a deal between the both us if they reject you.”

“F-f-fine…” Neko is still worried. Nobody find you reassuring now, huh?
“I do have a question before I make this call.” You have something on your mind you can’t shake off. Neko went from biting her nails to staring in silent anticipation. “…Is your name really ‘Trisha Nekosky’?”
“O-o-of course not, you tactless prick! What kind of stupid name is that?!” Now that’s the Neko you know!

How is someone acting like a screeching unstable mess soothing for you to see? You live in weird times, surrounded by weird people…

After that little exchange, you decided to call Nina for a meeting between the two. It appears everyone is staying at the clinic for these two days and she’s willing to hear Neko’s request! It takes a few minutes for Nina to arrive at your room. She has a cup of coffee in hand – for her or for you? Once the two get introduced to each other and clarify the situation, Nina says something important:

“You don’t mind if we… chat elsewhere?” Nina’s taking it easy, almost oozing confidence – almost. “Johnny is going to be busy doing something important.”
“Something important?” Is it even something you can do in your broken state?
“I-I would prefer if he was there…” An extremely shy Neko answers.
“I don’t want to be pushy or disrespectful, but how will we be able to help you if you won’t even comply to a simple request like this?” Nina is taking her leader role seriously. She’s come so far from the depressed self-deprecating woman you knew! “I promise nothing bad will happen to you. You have my word.”

Neko stares at you for a second. You nod back in a reassuring way without hurting yourself.

“Take Melodia with you, she’ll keep you company.” Besides she’s crushing your thighs. You need those to walk again!
“Meow, meow!” Melodia is up to the task!
“F-fi-fine…” Neko opens her arms and the beautiful cat jumps on her. “G-Goodbye…” Neko leaves the room.

Nina looks furtively at the door for a few seconds, then quickly turns to you. “Johnny, I need you to go to Constance’s room immediately. I’ll send someone to take you there, she’ll know what to do.” She whispers.

“No need, teach! I got this!” Yu Yan drops on the floor and crawls out from under your bed.
“Oh, I was wondering where you went.” Nina is more relaxed now. “Figures you’d be there again.”
“I told you I wasn’t going to leave this stud alone.” Yu Yan grins, patting you on the leg. Feels like your bones breaking all at once!

“What’s going on?” They’ve lost you here!
“Well Mr. Ando, you need to eat a delicious dessert only meant for you.” Nina almost drooled when she said ‘dessert.’
“Oh… OH!” Those marshmallows from last time!

“Now if you’ll excuse me… Oh, and don’t worry about Nariko, she’s fine.” There’s the answer to that question! Nina heads to the door, but turns before she leaves. “I’m so glad to see you’re okay.” You see a hint of her blushing as the door closes behind her.
“The sweet tooth in that teacher, damn. She’s packing way more pounds, isn’t she? Her clothes are begging for a guy to ‘loosen them up’, huh?” Yu Yan jokes, unaware of how right she is.
“All of them in the right places though.” You would adjust your glasses if it wasn’t painful to move. Yu Yan pouts quietly, making you feel just a little bit better.

Now you’re at Constance’s room! Yu Yan brought you here on your unbreakable wheelchair while Philonune floated rapidly up and down. If what your hobo said was true, it’s also the same one you chased after Nariko with! Constance is sleeping while Henry is guarding her… and by guarding, you mean sleeping on that chair! Yu Yan woke those two up as gently as she could (in other words, not gently at all.)

“You know how late it is, Yupie?” Henry grumbles. “It’s like past midnight!”
“You were supposed to be guarding her, you dumbass!”
“Hi everyone…” Poor Constance is so sleepy. She yawns much louder than you thought she could!

“Hi, Constance. Sorry about this, I’m sure this could have waited.” You reply to the little mummy.
“You wish, amigo. We already lost too much time on your little chat.” Yu Yan is serious about that.
“Then why’d you let me do it?”
“Because I’m not heartless.” Yu Yan’s a good girl deep inside, making you again wonder how she ended up as Rise…

Henry takes the time to wake himself up, finally noticing you in the room. “Hey bo— I mean, Johnny. Did you just wake up? Did Yupie at least tell you what happened after that chaos?” He gives Yu Yan an annoyed look.
“No, not really. I want to know if Nariko is fine.” Nina said as much, but it doesn’t hurt to make sure…
>>
>>3056278

“Yo, we need to speed this up or else you won’t heal fast enough.” Yu Yan intervenes. “I’m not trying to be mean or anything, but everyone else is okay, okay? Otherwise I wouldn’t be here.”
“I don’t think an hour is going to make much difference in his recovery. Hell, we don’t even know if this is going to work as planned.” Henry objects, looking over at Constance. “He could get worse from this, for all we know…”

How do you answer?

>“Every minute counts! Let’s get this done so Constance can sleep!”
>“I really want to know if Nariko is okay… Was Nina right about her?”
>“Thanks for your concern, Henry, but it’s okay. The marshmallows work.”

“Thanks for your concern Henry, but it’s okay. The marshmallows work.”
“I don’t think I explained myself correctly, but it’s not that simple this time.” The ex-luchador scratches the back of his head. Constance wakes herself up, looking at you.

“Whaddya mean ‘not that simple’?” Great, now they’ve got Yu Yan concerned.
“Johnny remember what happened last time?” Constance’s soft voice is not soothing enough to stop you worrying about what she just said.
“Yeah, Nermento-o and Blake’s flame turned into marshmallows so I could eat them.”
“Yes, they turned into pure energy willingly.” Constance gets all serious. “I don’t want to sacrifice their lives; they need to agree to help.”

“I remember that, you’re a good girl who doesn’t want to cross that line.” You nod at Constance, making her smile!
“Yes!” Constance nods happily. “So you understand!”

“…What needs to be understood? You guys lost me here.” Yupie looks around, stopping on you. “Don’t look at me like that, you ungrateful four-eyes! I spent almost all my time with the girls, then taking care of you! I don’t know what the hell is goin’ on either!”
“Basically, Johnny needs to convince the spirit to let it be eaten. Constance has a bunch of them already saved up.” Henry briefly explains. He smiles sheepishly and wipes his forehead. “And let me tell ya, it ain’t easy. Both Osgood and Richard screwed up. Only Lise and I got any powered help.”

“I get why Osgood wanted to eat one, but why Richard? He’s fine isn’t he?”
“Aside from the punch he took on the back of the head, yeah.” Henry nods to himself a few times. “They checked him out and he was alright.”
“What happened?”
“Your friend, the burly dude I supposedly stabbed through the leg, got pissed at him enough to sucker punch him and fuck off.” Yu Yan shrugs. “Shame we had to lose a guy that tough.”

Trent might be one crazy madman, but he always seemed reasonable if a bit twisted. What could possibly have set him off that hard…?

“Wait, he’s not here anymore?” That’s a letdown! Then again, it’s better if flameless people don’t get involved. Even someone skilled like Trent could be severely injured – you tripping and defeating Matilda in seconds with Philonune is proof of that!
“Mr. Trent left and said he’s not coming back… I’m going to miss him. He was so cool…” Constance fell for Trent’s delinquent charms!
“Don’t know where he left, don’t care either.” Henry yawns. The two of them hate each other, so you understand.

Yu Yan yawns obnoxiously loud, getting the attention back. “So back on topic… these marshmallows are power boosts? Maybe that’s why Mr. Ace Defective wanted one, huh?” She does her smug smile and raises her eyebrows at you a few times.
“Yeah, that’s what we know.” Henry nods. “After what happened to Nariko, she and your sister didn’t want to do it today. They’re taking their time.”

“I see. So I need to check this spirit out, right?” How’s this entity’s personality going to be?

“Yes!” Constance takes her bandage off to show her flame. She invokes her partner – strangely, only the arms appear with the book. What did Constance do to Athelone to restrict her…? “This is something we need to do alone, so please hold my hand! Ehm…” Constance suddenly looks guilty. Oh yeah, she forgot you can barely move.“Sorry! I’ll hold your hand better!”
“Alright. Just like we did with Neko, right?” You hold her tiny bandaged hand in yours.
“Something like that! Let’s go!” Constance uses her powers! The hands open the mysterious book Athelone uses, dragging a flame out from its pages.

The last thing you hear is Yu Yan and Henry complaining about missing the cool dreamworld stuff. Then everything goes dark…

And so you went to dream world, or whatever bullshit this thing is called. Nobody cares at this point anyway! You find yourself in the usual black void, with Constance and Philonune at your sides. All the incredible pain you feel is miraculously gone, thanks to not having a physical body to sense pain with in the first place! It’s so relieving… Hopefully this ‘convincing’ job won’t end too quick.

Far above you in the inky black, you can barely make out a small greenish metal cage. A familiar thin and white shape is grabbing the bars, looking down at you. Serves her right…

“So who are we meeting?” Philonune asks a question you should have asked a while ago. How long has it been since you arrived here anyway? One minute? Two? Does time even matter here?!
“It’s a really powerful warrior! He’s really big and cool and fun!” Constance gets excited.
“Warrior?” Who could it be? Someone from earlier in the flame war, perhaps?

HEYO, PALS!” A burly viking-looking horned man appears in front of you! He’s like a tall dwarf of sorts… So not really a dwarf at all! “Name’s Kirm Cherkano. So you two are pansies who need mah help. Quite disappointing, honestly. How d’ya expect to skin your enemies alive with those arms?” His voice comes out in a rocky rumble past his full beard and stache combo, muscles rippling every time he talks. And…

Does he have a tiger head for a shoulderpad?! Or is that a wolf head? Is it even a real animal?! It’s so confusing to look at!
>>
>>3056531

“They need your help, Kirm! Be kind to them!” Constance scolds the big man. It would be funny if it weren’t so serious.
“I’m puttin’ mah life on the line here, sistah. Course I want ‘em to prove they’re worthy. Heard both ya idiots wasted the life of two entities already, so start yer prattlin’ or fuck right off. Hahaha!” He sounds drunk out of his gourd, or whatever it’s called. Can godly demon-spirit things even get drunk in the first place?!

Uh…

How do you respond to this guy straight out of a fantasy novel?! (Seriously, just look at him!)

>“Mind telling me how a real tough warrior like you loses in the first place?”
>“We’re still kickin’ unlike someone else, so I think we’re worth supporting.”
>“I’m Johnny and this is Philonune, nice to meet you Kirm. How are you?”
>“So what exactly is ‘worthy’? Doing something with my bare hands?”
>“Nice… beard…? How many years did it take for you to grow that out?”
>”What have you been drinking? Whatever it is, I’m kinda interested…”

“Nice beard…? How many years did it take for you to grow that out?”
“Like twenty of yer lifetimes, kiddo.” He’s surprisingly in a good mood now that you mentioned that, grubbing his magnificent beard. “Shame you aren’t man enough to have one.”
“They don’t let us grow one at school.”
“Then beat ‘em up! Show ‘em a beard is a true man’s pride and joy, ya little pussy.” Beating people at school?! Who does he thinks you are? Blake? Trent?

…Most of the people you know?!

“…Well, there is a teacher or two who could do with a beating.” Not only in poker, but in life – Mr. Conti definitely deserves to eat pavement, though you think he’s a better principal than Galishoff ever was.
(Note: Johnny Ando has literally attended school one day since Rob Conti was appointed principal.)
“That’s the spirit, boyo! Hahaha!” He’s either simple-minded or he’s expertly faking it. Not the type who takes lying kindly – not without axing people in the face right after.

“Philo, do you know this guy? He seems like the unforgettable type…” You wonder if your partner has something. He’s lived for thousands of years, maybe he crossed paths with this giant dwarf once or twice?
“I don’t know much about the so-called ‘heroes of the north’, but you were completely human at one point in your life, if I remember right?” Philonune asks in an almost taunting manner. Heroes of the north? What’s he referring to? “Couldn’t handle enemies with real power, could you?”
“I slayed demons like ya even when I was completely human. Thought they could do shit to regular people and get away with it scot-free, ‘til I introduced ‘em to my axe. I’m pretty sure I can do it in the afterlife too, provided I get some… convincin’.” Kirm retorts, leaning into Philo’s face.
“Wrong side of the puddle, human. I’m no mere demon.” Philonune smirks. “That’s the first mistake they always make.”

“Hold on, I’m lost. What are you talking about?” You look back at Philonune. He’s really reveling in this, isn’t he? Not that you don’t feel a bit of the smug pride yourself, but…

“Humans believed they had a chance to ascend into deities if they reached a certain level of glory or adoration, as well as the ability to alter reality itself. Power of belief and faith taken to its logical extreme.” Philo leans back into Kirm’s face, undaunted by the big guy. “But I do wonder… was your soul strong enough to become a true deity, or were your followers’ memories of you strong enough to create you from nothing?”
Kirm scoffs in Philo’s face. “I grabbed destiny wit’ my own two hands. I made the decision to be here myself. Something a low life like you wouldn’t understand.” His eyes narrow in scorn.
>>
>>3056781

Low life? While you were beating glorified zoo animals, I was fighting God himself – and the match has yet to end. I’m planning on winning our next fight.”
“Ha! Do you think you stand a chance against the man up top?”
We do.” Philonune smirks at you. You gladly return it back!

“I see ya can do the talk, but that ain’t enough.” You notice Kirm is standing toe to toe with Philonune. The size difference isn’t as great as you thought. Suddenly Kirm casually moves past Philonune and stops in front of you. “Show me your worth, human!” His booming voice shakes you to your bones.
“Huh?” You weren’t expecting this shift, but you’re not afraid! The level 4 courage you got from everything you’ve done so far keeps you unfazed!
“A demon’s word means nothin’, tricksters and connivin’ scum the lot of ‘em. A man’s word is his life.” He points a finger down at you. “Now stand your ground, and tell me your worth!”

Constance gives an audible gasp! At least she’s being entertained.

How will you respond to this challenge?!

>“I’ll do my best!” Catchphrase time! Here goes nothing!
>“My mission is to save the world!” Your real objective!
>“I’ll reach a level of glory even the gods will be jealous of!” Be as corny as possible!
>“Words don’t mean anything here. I’ll show you what I can do if you give me a chance!”

“Words don’t mean anything here. I’ll show you what I can do if you give me a chance!” You tell the once-in-a-lifetime legend.
“A chance? You understand what you’re signin’ up for, lad? Hundreds of souls joined in one together, to make me powerful enough to heal ya? We may not be as strong as we once were, but our memories, our legacies, our very lives hold greater weight than the tangible power we’re willin’ to bestow upon ya.” He puts his fist over his chest in a sort of salute.

“Uhm… There must be a misunderstanding, I didn’t collect that many. And… Uhm… only three of you joined together…” Constance embarrassed the prideful warrior in middle of his speech! Almost made you laugh when you saw his expression. Almost.

“Dear sister Constance, that’s not the point! Our power isn’t the sum energy of three souls, but the thousands of souls of every man that has ever put their faith in us – that’s what made our power truly great. That’s what made us stronger.” He goes back to staring at you, a fierce energy in his eyes! “Either way, ya better remember this, kid! The weight of millions of souls rests on your fist.

“I didn’t think you would be this easy to convince.” Philonune quips. “Are you sure you’re not going soft on us?”
“To be part of another man’s legend is a great joy within itself. Even if I don’t think you’re worthy, I expect ya to prove me wrong one of these days.” Kirm strokes his manly beard in a thoughtful, wise manner. He’s probably just showing off.

“Are you doing this to help me? I don’t want your flame to extinguish just because it can help me survive…” Constance realizes out loud. What? She doesn’t think your words were good enough?!
“Your tie to him is known to us. I’ll play along and give him a chance. And honestly, this little wimp is a thousand times better than the first coward that showed up.” Kirm turns and spits on the floor in disgust. “Lily-livered bastard wasn’t fit to call himself a true man.”
“Don’t talk about Mr. Osgood like that!” That was enough to irritate Constance for real! Osgood is kind of a whiny coward, but he’s trying! He’s doing his best his own way, isn’t he?

“Prove me wrong, pal.” He smirks at you. “Prove us wrong.”
“If I wasn’t confident, I wouldn’t have asked.”
“Good.”

The dream world dispels as the conversation reaches its climax. You’re back in the real world.

“It’s already morning?!” Oh god no! Also the pain is back! It’s not any better!
“No… Not at all.” Henry points at the window. Faint sounds of late night traffic still continue from the outside. “So how’d it go? Did you talk him into it?”

“He okayed the deal!” Constance turns Kirm’s black flame into a marshmallow, same as before. “Now, it’s up to you to receive it. Do you accept this really really cool burden Mr. Kirm talked about?”

You lock eyes with Constance. With all the determination left in your body, you decide to forge this contract with a quick:

“Yee.”

“Goodbye, Kirm. I know you won’t be disappointed!” Constance puts the small black marshmallow in arm’s reach. “I hope it tastes good!”
Last time your partner was the one who ate it. Is this going to be any different?

“Need some help with that?” Yu Yan rudely snatches it right as your hand gets close. “Say ‘aaaaaaaah!’”
You hold her hand and gently pry the soul marshmallow from her fingers, ignoring her blushing. Moving might hurt all over – but nobody, nobody is feeding you like you’re a baby! That, and the last person who did became tragically crippled. You don’t want to risk it happening a second time…
“Thanks.” You pop the black candy right in your mouth. It tastes exactly like licorice, but there’s a weird mixed aftertaste. Metallic and earthy. A little grassy too. “Uhm… Philonune was right, it does taste odd.”

Immediately after, you feel an immense rush of power the same as before…! Then you fart anticlimactically. Does this happen every time?!

“Did you just fart?” Yu Yan is openly disgusted. “Dude, open a window!” She pulls herself off the comfy chair and makes for the window!
“Yup. We all do.” Henry stares at the ceiling, a distant look of joy on his face.

“How are you feeling?” Constance slowly pats you on the back. Your bones aren’t aching as much!
“It’s still kind of itchy. I already feel a lot better though.” Not so much pain anymore, just a relative amount of pain! “I can’t believe I got to experience this twice.”
“Hopefully it’ll be the last time, riiiiiiight?” Yu walks up and elbows you in the shoulder. “Cuz if it’s not, I’ll have no choice but to think you’re into this sorta thing, weirdo!” Yu Yan’s smile nearly radiates smug! It’s somewhat intimidating…

“I feel like I can walk again!” You feel great!
“Don’t even think about trying, Johnny.” Yu Yan grabs your arm, dragging you to the wheelchair.
“Yeah there we go! Mission accomplished! Now time to go to sleep, I m-mean guarding.” Henry gets a little too comfy in his chair.

“I can move my own wheelchair now…” You move it around slowly. The sudden lessening of pain is disorienting… “…Constance, thanks. I’m sorry for putting you through all this.”
“Hmmm? It’s all my fault, really…” Constance starts looking gloomy.
>>
>>3057918

No! You stop that right now. I already experienced a sadfest today, I don’t need another one. It’s not your fault you’re just a little girl caught in the middle of everything, volleyball head!” Yu Yan points to Constance, then she points at you. “And you! Stop apologizing for literally everything. It doesn’t makes you look good, it makes you look pathetic. Man the fuck up!” Where’d all this fire come from?!

“Yeesh, where did that come from?” Henry jokes, echoing your thoughts.
“I felt like I needed to say it.” Yu Yan pouts again. “You guys really need to lighten up…”
“Guess you should catch a break, Johnny. You need to use the extra strength to recover while you’re here. C’mon Yupie, get Johnny outta here.” Henry gives you a thumbs up.

But is that really what you want to do?

“Hey Yu, take me to the roof, I need some fresh air please.” You ask the little gremlin.
“What about a good night’s sleep instead?” Yu Yan retorts with disdain. “Did you know you’re getting air, like, right now?
“I got a rush of power, Yupie; I don’t think I can sleep if I wanted to.” It’s getting to Philonune too, judging by him floating circles around you. His smile reminds you of Amelia on the rides at Lunar Light, years ago. Fat chance you’ll ever see Amelia smile again from now on…

“Not you too…” Yu Yan grumbles, grabbing your wheelchair handles. “Let’s go, four-eyes!” Yu Yan is right, you’ve been sad enough lately…

“Good night, Constance; have a good one. You too Henry!” You wave back at both.
“You too, Johnny!” Constance’s smile keeps on shining.
“Have fun outside, boss!” Henry, for a second there, forgot you weren’t his boss anymore. “I’m going back on dutyyyy!” And just like that, there he goes. His snoring echoes down the hall the whole time…

Yu Yan had to bust open the lock to get there, but you two finally arrived on the rooftop. They must have locked it down because of Nariko. Philonune’s impromptu plug in the fence hole is still there. It’s a chilly summer night; the stars are barely visible behind the heavy clouds. The city - your city - looks brighter than any night sky. Almost makes you cry, in a sense.

“Liking the air?”
“Feels nice.” All the aches and pains feel far away now. Might be the atmosphere…
“Are you really feeling better or not?”
“Sorry, Yu Yan. This is doing wonders, but I don’t feel like cuddling with you tonight.” Hope she doesn’t take it too hard.

“Psst… Asshole.” Yu Yan grins down at you. “You know it’s almost 2:30 in the morning, right?”
“Stop nagging me and let me enjoy the moment, please.”

“I’m surprised you haven’t asked more questions about the girls. Don’t tell me you’re afraid to meet with them again?” Yu Yan mocks you relentlessly!
If she’ll be that way, you’ll call her bluff! “I was following orders before. Maybe I should go see them right now, if you’re gonna insist this much.” Will she fall for it?!
“I just told you it’s two in the morning, dude. You think any of those two are awake right now?” Yu Yan states the obvious, avoiding your bait! “Also, your lewd teacher wants to have a chat with you soon. I think I better take this stud back to his room for that, huh?” She’s getting into this a bit too much… “After all, it’s not like someone is going to show up out of nowhere, or anything…”

Yu Yan turns to look back at the door leading down, not even trying to hide it. Sounds like she’s wishing for someone to appear…

What do you say?

>“Since you keep bugging me about it, how is everyone? What happened while I was unconscious again?”
>“Take me to my room, I know you’re dying to cuddle with me in my bed.” It’s for her night terrors, nothing else. :^)
>“You think any of the doctors are awake? I think I need to talk to them.” How is Dr. Calamity doing? Is he okay?
>”Alright Yu, spill it. What’s going on? Who are you waiting for?” It’s a romantic night. Is she setting you up?!
>Close your eyes and enjoy the moment before the mystery person arrives.
>Write In.

(Sorry for the delay, I'm a little sick right now so these are coming slowly.)

“You think any of the doctors are awake? I think I need to talk to them.” How is Dr. Calamity doing? He was bedridden last you saw of him.
“They’re working with Big Magumbos to fortify this place, so I think so.” Yu Yan does the big boobs motion, you know the one… “You sure don’t want to wait a little?”
“Jealousy is poison, Yu. Either way, can you take me to see them please?”
“What happened with enjoying fresh air, big boy?”

“Hard to enjoy myself with someone complaining all the time. Let’s go please!” You start rolling yourself towards the door.
“Fine… Assface.” She trails behind you.

After wasting half an hour being lost in a small medical facility, Yu Yan was able to find Dr. Calamity’s office against her best efforts to keep you lost.

“You sure it’s here?” You ask for what feels like the seventh time.
“His stupid name is on the stupid door, of course this is it!” A furious Yu Yan points to the plaque on the door. Sure enough, that’s his name in all capital letters.
“That’s what I said last time and you completely ignored it! We passed this how many times now?” Is she being this dense on purpose?!
“I thought it was his cow niece’s office, okay?! Am I allowed to make one goddamn mistake without someone whining at me?!”

“One?! More like six! This place ain’t that big!” You take a deep breath and check your phone. “It’s three in the morning thanks to you! We spent half an hour on nothing!”
“I think the big problem here is we’re visiting someone at three in the fucking morning!
“They are going to yell at us again if you don’t keep it down, Yu.”

“It’s good to hear you two younglings so lively despite the late hour!” It’s the man himself, Doctor Calamity! He is sporting a cane for some reason, ignoring that he looks as good as ever. Which means he looks like a walking corpse with a white coat. “But as your doctor, I need to tell you to go back to your bed and rest.”
“Ha! Tell him, doc.” A smug Yu Yan teases you, completely forgetting her screwing up.
“I need to talk with you, doctor. Are you busy?” You ask as politely as you can.

“Let’s have a little chat while we go back to your room, shall we? I’m not kidding when I said you need some rest.” Dr. Calamity speaks in that firm voice all doctors use. “Could you please help him, child?”
“It’s not like I haven’t done this all night.” Yu Yan turns you around.
“Perhaps you’re interested in working here at some point, if we survive tomorrow?! HahHAhhaHAHa!” Dr. Calamity smiles at Yu Yan, which creeps her out a little; or maybe it was what he said. Who knows?

What do you want to say to the good doctor?

>“I don’t know the details, but are you okay with everything that’s happening?”
>“How are you feeling doctor? The cane is temporary, isn’t it?”
>“So you’re friend’s with Matilda’s grandfather, right?”
>”You were a medic in the war, doc? What was it like back then?”
>“I know Yu Yan is tired of me apologizing to everyone, but I’m sorry for everything you had to go through doc.”
>”Doc, I feel better already. Could you tell Kata to get Constance some candy?”
>Write In.

“You were a medic in the war, doc? What was it like back then?” Neko mentioned as much.
“Who could you have possibly heard that from, I wonder? I think my niece is going to get a well-deserved spanking later.” Dr. Calamity is not amused. His cane hits the tiles a bit harder than normal each step.
“No, no, no. A little cat told me…”
“An aggressive little cat, you mean.” Yu Yan corrects you. She leans close to Dr. Calamity. “Between us doc, I think she has rabies.”

“Perhaps I should vaccinate Johnny here, HaHAHahhaHa.” Yep, still 100% creepy!
“T-that won’t be necessary, doc!” You hastily stop his evil scheming. You already got vaccinated years ago anyhow. “Question still stands, by the way.”

“I spent a big portion of my youth as a deployed doctor in other smaller countries, none of them in peacetime – at some point I didn’t even have a way to return here! Never so close to danger to be captured or anything, but I once was a charitable man.” Doc, you’re still one! Getting you for that late cleaning job was how it all began… Good times. “Doesn’t mean I didn’t help my own country when I was called on, in our own civil war. When father and son could no longer keep order, after the dreadful bombings happened… someone had to help the men willing to rebuild our society.”

“Which side were you on, doc?” Yu Yan’s voice comes out in a whisper.
“Neither of those stubborn Gordons, child. Strictly neutral. If you were wounded, I helped, but some hotheads had that wearisome ‘with us or against us’ mentality. I had to flee the country for a few years until things calmed down.” He starts chuckling, clearly enjoying this story. Doesn’t even sound creepy! “During this little exile of mine, my so-called ‘peace crusade’ started. You don’t know how small your home really is until you see the rest of the world. It’s beautiful!

“We could go to the beach later.” You can’t help proposing this, knowing…
“The beach?” Yu Yan almost trips herself up. “What, are you this thirsty for girls in swimsuits?! Stuck in bed half a week, and this is the first thing you think to do?” The look Yu Yan gives you is weird.
“I like the beach. Is there a problem with that?”

“There is no beach in the city, Johnny. You sure you’re feelin’ well?” She says, as if you have sudden brain damage.

“Thank god the world is bigger than just the city!” You start laughing, that chest wound slightly throbbing in response. “Imagine if the whole planet was just our Pokyo Lokyo! How would that work?”
“Sir, can I elbow this ill-behaved patient?”
“I’d prefer you counterattack with your wit, young lady.”
“It’s three in the morniiiiiing, my brain can’t think straiiiiiiight…!” Yu Yan whines melodramatically.

“Doctor, were you really helping everyone when both Gordons…?” You trail off. Not like you like getting political.
“I only saw flames and bodies strewn about. I couldn’t tell the difference after the first ten.” Dr. Calamity’s somber look tells you everything. “But I never saw more suffering than out on the frontier.”
“Huh? What happened there?”
“Nothing our history books would tell you.” He says, mysteriously grim. “Nothing without lies.”

You exchange glances and shrugs with Yu Yan. What’s going on? Nina is a history teacher, she should know, right? Supposedly people in the countryside have different teaching methods than here in the city.

Maybe whatever info the government is silencing slipped through out there…

After an impromptu examination, Dr. Calamity concluded you are way better than before (if it wasn’t obvious), but he wants to confirm your state tomorrow morning. You finally granted Yu Yan’s wish after the doc’s visit and went to blissful sleep. It was almost four in the morning too. Seems like the clinic accommodated an extra room for everyone on your team that isn’t injured, and Yu Yan went over there herself. That’s good.

…What’s not good is your good night’s rest being cut this short.

“Wake up.” A familiar monotone voice whispers, shaking your shoulder.
“Amelia…?” You reach for your cell phone and check the time. It’s 7:30 in the morning. Putting on your glasses, you see your broken little sister right here, unchanged.
“Who else?” Her cold eyes narrow at you. “Let’s talk, since you couldn’t bother to wait for me at the roof.”

Sadly this is all we have for this week’s thread! Thanks for playing!
